- 0:02This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is Spoiled Me, covering one piece
- 0:11episodes four oh four and four oh five, Admiral Kirazu's fierce assault, the
- 0:18straw Hats, face certain death and eliminated friends, the final day of the
- 0:25Straw Hat Crew. In these episodes, we have got a bunch of disappearances,
- 0:36losses, and a truly devastated Lufy that was like really hard to watch.
- 0:44Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome to the show. Everyone. I am
- 1:07Natasha and I'm Shane A everybody. Shane aka Kryptos is here with me today
- 1:15for I want to be And I have to begin with the obligatory question why
- 1:21this episode for I want to be sure? So this is probably my favorite
- 1:26arc of the whole series up to this point, and it's just it's one
- 1:30of those things where it's like I didn't have that much reading experience when I
- 1:36like got to this part of the story, but it was just like I've
- 1:40never had a series or anything do exactly what this did break both my heart
- 1:49and my expectations for the story in such a dramatic way that that is just
- 1:53like literally anything can happen now, and uh, and so it's just it's
- 1:59just such a like you know. And then also you know, the story
- 2:04has has always been like political, but like this kind of you know,
- 2:07this this arc with the whole like slave trade thing and the celestial dragon there
- 2:13that it really it really amps up the political commentary on certain things, which
- 2:19I always love to get into. Uh. And so yeah, it's just
- 2:23like my favorite arc and this is this was a great you know, it's
- 2:27it's an emotional moment this this last episode you know, leading into the you
- 2:30know what's going to happen next, and so yeah, it's just a great
- 2:34moment. Yeah. So I mean I I of course want to talk about
- 2:39like the end, but can we like how do you want to proceed?
- 2:50Sure? So you know, obviously it is not the case that everybody is
- 2:57now dead and the straw hats are on and you know the next six hundred
- 3:02episodes are going to be about you know, some some other characters and you
- 3:07know, but but it's more like, you know, what do you first,
- 3:10what do you think the possibilities are of what happened to them? Or
- 3:16you know, anything along those lines. Yeah, so I said something when
- 3:23we saw Pirona get disappeared, as I'm going to call it, and he
- 3:28asks the same question, like, if you could go on vacation anywhere,
- 3:30where would you pick? She names a very like specific castle, dope ass
- 3:38situation, and then he disappears her. But then we don't see, like
- 3:44what happened there? She's just gone. As Nami says it, I never
- 3:49saw her again, which sounds pretty dramatic, and it is true. Yeah,
- 3:55I want to believe that he sends them to their preferred vacation destination.
- 4:03How would that work? I have no fucking clue, no idea, Like
- 4:10I would normally make a guess about how it's like a mental trip, but
- 4:15they are clearly physically gone, right, And how can he do that?
- 4:21Like does he send them to an actual place? Does he make them a
- 4:27little a little bubble where they can just be like in their ideal circumstances for
- 4:32a temporary time, like a solitary confinement, but like ideal, Yeah,
- 4:41does he because he's like he asks that question from Zoro, but he doesn't
- 4:48ask it from anybody else, And I don't think Zoro answers him. I'm
- 4:53pretty kind of like, yeah, what are you talking about? Excuse him?
- 4:59A look in his like, shit, this is the real one.
- 5:02And I don't know if he needs a reply to like choose where to send
- 5:10them. If he doesn't get a reply, does he tend to send everybody
- 5:13to the wrong place? Like if I'm operating under this assumption, there keeps
- 5:18being the references to the bubbles, And I can't tell if that's like a
- 5:26purposeful because they're put into bubbles like a very literal sort of nod, or
- 5:32if it's just supposed to be like the symbolic bubbles popping because our friends are
- 5:36disappearing, you know, certainly meant to be uh that second one. But
- 5:42man, yeah, we definitely do not know how how Kuma's power works.
- 5:46Yeah, the motivation is kind of like the key thing here that we don't
- 5:51know. It's just you know, like they they probably would have been captured
- 5:56and or killed, you know, had had he not done that. And
- 6:00so what what is the alternative to that that Kima wants and why does he
- 6:03want that? And what did he whisper to Rayley? And you know,
- 6:09it's like, oh god, it could be anything. If you got asked
- 6:14this question, where would you pick to go? Like if you just yeah,
- 6:18oh yeah, like not like in a real life context or a one
- 6:24piece world context. Ah, that's a good question. Yeah, give me
- 6:29both. Yeah, just teleporting somewhere, uh, wouldn't really get me that
- 6:34much. I rl you know, if it's more about like if you could
- 6:39relocate somewhere where it would be it'd be like somewhere like New Zealand or Chile,
- 6:44you know, somewhere not somewhere that none of the major powers have any
- 6:48beef with and is slightly isolated and relatively stable economy on one piece world.
- 7:00Uh, it's a it's a it's a place that I can't tell you about
- 7:10yet. But Water, Yeah, that's true. Water seven would be the
- 7:13one of the ones you've seen that would probably like to just go around and
- 7:17hang out the most. That makes sense. Yeah, I didn't really think
- 7:21about that. If I choose one piece that there's probably places that are like
- 7:26ideal that we haven't even approached yet, some wild locations I'll tell you I'm
- 7:32really excited about. I mean, having seen been to this Bubble Island,
- 7:38I just what else is in the store. If I were going to choose
- 7:43a place to hang out, I think I might it's sort of I am
- 7:46a person of extremes a lot of the time. So I would either want
- 7:51the like beach hangout of Nami's Island like the Chill, or I would want
- 8:01to go to Choppers where it's snow all the time and just hide in a
- 8:05cabin and have a crackling fire and drink cocoa and read books. Yea,
- 8:09and in the real world pretty much the same, Either of those two things
- 8:15would work for me. But this, like, I really like the fact
- 8:20that when Pirona is asked, she gives him a real answer. She takes
- 8:24it kind of seriously. But I understand why anybody else who gets asked might
- 8:28not say, give him a straight answer, because, like, it's a
- 8:31very strange fucking question to be asked in the middle of what seems to be
- 8:37a flat out brawl, and you don't exactly want to get like, you
- 8:43know, vulnerable with the guy who is about to potentially erase you from existence.
- 8:52But Peronas thought about this a lot, and she's very passionate about what
- 8:56she wants. I love her whole I really do hope that we see her
- 9:01again because her entire vibe is just so great. So the alternative to them
- 9:13being sent to somewhere like and the only reason that I would say that I'm
- 9:20pretty fixed on him sending them somewhere is because he can teleport himself. It
- 9:24seems like so because he can, you know, just suddenly be right in
- 9:31front of you out of nowhere. So I'm hoping that what he's doing is
- 9:37moving to an actual space. But if not, can he be like storing
- 9:46them somewhere in his weird like shrinking them and making them hang out in some
- 9:50weird little, I don't know, prepared space like a lunchbox in his armor,
- 9:58you know, just like none of his other powers seem to be related
- 10:03to paw shaped bubbles, so it's like he could really do anything with it.
- 10:07Yeah, sure that whatever. I also really like if and granted I'm
- 10:18sort of acting like if you if you ask a question and you don't give
- 10:22him an answer, then he will automatically send you to the default place,
- 10:26which I don't know if that's at all anything, but all of our friends
- 10:33who get teleported away this episode, if that's when I'm calling it, I
- 10:41really want them to wind up together wherever they go. I'm like, I
- 10:48know that that's kind of a lot to ask, but as much as it
- 10:54seems to me to make more sense probably to be putting them in individual spaces
- 11:00just because of the bubble thing. If that isn't the case, I would
- 11:05like for them to be with their friends and not completely freaking out because at
- 11:11least they know they're with their own people. Which is the tragedy of Lufy
- 11:16being the only one that doesn't get tapped over there. You know, I
- 11:24just guys, I really don't like this. It's very upsetting overall. I
- 11:28know, as Shane has said, everybody's not dead. I don't even think
- 11:35Lufy believes they're dead. I don't think he even thinks that necessarily. But
- 11:43they have been completely removed from the equation for the moment in a way that
- 11:48they did not consent to and don't understand. And it's just as each person
- 11:56one by one gets tapped, the desperation in Lufy and the way that they
- 12:05each try to get away, but this guy moves through space in such a
- 12:11manner that you cannot just run. It doesn't matter. There was something just
- 12:16so inevitable about how this went down, and it made me feel really bad
- 12:20for Lufy, it really did. I just hated having where we end up
- 12:28at the end where he is just like saying, I didn't do anything.
- 12:33I couldn't stop him. You know, how could I? That broke my
- 12:39heart y'all. He's like convulsing. It's such a build up too, because
- 12:46like at the like Andy's lobby, like when he pulls out gear second,
- 12:50he's like, you know, I realized, like during this fight. It's
- 12:52just like I'm really going to have to be able to step that up,
- 12:56you know, if I'm going to make sure that I can always protect my
- 12:58friend. And and then you get the thriller bark and Maria at one point
- 13:03says, you're really not ready for the New World, and you know,
- 13:07and but the whole time, you know, it's one piece. It's just
- 13:09you know, things are going to be great and we're going to have a
- 13:13happy, fun adventure and then nope, turns out the straw Hats are are
- 13:18not ready for for the New World. And uh, you know, Lucy,
- 13:22yeah, I imagine Lufi probably doesn't think they're dead. But it's just
- 13:26like, you know, it's still running through his minds, like we could
- 13:30be like separated forever. I can't be there. If we are separated,
- 13:35then I can't be there. To protect any of them. Yeah so,
- 13:41and even if they are like even if he sees them again in just a
- 13:48second they're around the corner. The knowledge that somebody was able to absolutely take
- 13:54matters out of your hands so entirely that anything you tried to do to resist
- 14:01them was pointless and doomed to fail. That is a very sobering thought.
- 14:07Like I feel like Lufy has had an attitude of no matter what, will
- 14:16face it together, we can always do something. And it seems like this
- 14:20is the first time we have had a real, oh it's no contest sort
- 14:26of situation. You know, there have been a plenty of times where it
- 14:31seemed like they are outmatched, but they've been able to fight up to a
- 14:33point and it will grind to a halt and our friend will be hurt or
- 14:41you know, things will be at a really like difficult impasse. But it's
- 14:43always felt like there was something we could do, and this is the first
- 14:50time that it has really seemed like not really, you know, like what
- 14:56he is here to do is gonna get done, and you are just like
- 15:03objects in a China cabinet that he's rearranging where he wants them to be,
- 15:07and you don't get any say in it, you know, you guys,
- 15:13fum me out it did all right? Shall we begin at the beginning?
- 15:20Sure, yea with Beppo. Oh, guys, Beppo is I think Beppo
- 15:28is the same voice actor as the one doing Kirazo. I'm not positive about
- 15:37that, but I think it's the same guy, and he's just doing like
- 15:39a different like vibe to his voice. He sounded sort of familiar when he
- 15:46goes down and he's like, oh, okay, I guess I'll just stay
- 15:50down. There was something very familiar sounding about him. But heah, he
- 15:56is doing his like wonderful posturing in the sort of battle cry. And then
- 16:03he goes up and this is against the real Kuma. I think? Is
- 16:08he against the real Kuma? Yeah, because he's got like the little well,
- 16:11no, this is the fake one. Huh. Yeah, they all
- 16:15have, all three of them have a fake one they're they're facing, and
- 16:21then the real one shows up with the Bible, right, okay, so
- 16:27he gets like slapped down. It's so again it just feels like there's no
- 16:34contest here at all. And then we have each of the different captains who
- 16:41are chiming in with their own like brand of attack. So Captain Kidd has
- 16:49his weird giant metal arms from attracting metal to himself. I'm assuming his whole
- 16:56thing is like an actual magnet power, because I think I had been saying
- 17:02at one point that it seemed like he just attracted objects to him, and
- 17:04I didn't quite collock the fact that it's all metal objects that he's attracting.
- 17:10So I don't know why I didn't notice that. Butther and this robot Kuma,
- 17:19you know, does the whole every time that he opens his mouth and
- 17:23does that like light sort of concentrating thing. Yeah. Do you remember Independence
- 17:33Day and the like blue laser that came out of the That is what I
- 17:38keep thinking of every time is all the people who are like dancing on the
- 17:42top of the building to welcome the aliens with their big signs, and they
- 17:48look up and they see this like gathering of light. It's beautiful, and
- 17:52then you just see the entire building get zapped. Yeah, so he zapps
- 18:00Kid and all of there's like a lot of room between everybody. So from
- 18:07Afar, a lot the other captains are sort of observing this and trying to
- 18:11get a handle I think on what they can expect from Kuma, and Kid
- 18:19is pretty effective, I would say, despite the fact that he doesn't do
- 18:26what he thought he would do, it's not like it doesn't do anything.
- 18:33I mean, I'm giving him some credit here because a lot of these attacks
- 18:37have been cut off, like Beppo, but is it Bepo? They get
- 18:45that right. He just literally puts up a hand and it's like not now
- 18:51like a three year old that you're just trying to keep away from a hostove
- 18:56like there's no effort to it, nothing. But with Kid, when he
- 19:02attacks, this bot goes down for a minute, and it seems like maybe
- 19:07that's had more of an effect, at least than I was sort of expecting,
- 19:12because I thought that this thing was just going to be able to resist
- 19:15with no issue. But he does stand back up again. It isn't like
- 19:22it's you know, it's he brought the bot down for long enough that I
- 19:29personally think if the other captains had jumped in at that point, maybe something
- 19:36more could have been done. There's there's a lot of that, and like
- 19:40this an anime in general, where it's just like all right, they're down,
- 19:44now go kill them, and everybody just stands around staring yeah, like
- 19:52they're asking each other. Is that really all it took to take him down?
- 19:56Well, if you're not sure, guy carrying a giant sword, I
- 20:00have a suggestion. Maybe don't chill on the sidelines sipping a drink and conversing.
- 20:08Get in there. Allegedly you're a badass, but you're just out here
- 20:11all right? Sure, fine and granted. Like after he attempts another attack,
- 20:19that dude does have does pop up with the sword, but he waits
- 20:25until this dude has stood up again instead of just jumping in while the guy
- 20:30is down, and Kid is like, I didn't ask for your help,
- 20:36And I'm like, dude, you this is just something I will never understand.
- 20:42I am not the type to being like I could have handled it.
- 20:47You are in front of an audience, sir, and they all saw you
- 20:52almost get melted by whatever the fuck that beam was. I know that you
- 20:57think that you're saving face, but you really are just coming across it's like
- 21:00very petulant and childish. I want to like Kid a little bit. I'm
- 21:08having a hard time. Maybe it'll get easier. I uh, what's the
- 21:19name of I keep forgetting it's law. The other one of those three law.
- 21:26Right, Yeah, he's the one with the sword, and he jumps
- 21:30in and is like, do you think you'd be able to take down a
- 21:36real war lord that easily? So he knows that this thing isn't the deal
- 21:42because it's a kid. Is surprised by the fact that it's a robot.
- 21:48And I think, maybe, I don't know if this is like the assumption
- 21:52that I would make or not. But if I had never dealt with a
- 21:56warlord and I took one down and I saw that it was a robot,
- 22:02I think that I would assume all the warlords were robots. Ah, you
- 22:07know what I mean, I could I could see uh coming to that conclusion.
- 22:14Now, you know, if he he never we don't know if he
- 22:18ever faced a warlord before. But you know, it also ends but so
- 22:23he doesn't have like and this is where you know the dreaded powers scaling as
- 22:27some people hate to call it. You know, clearly these robot versions aren't
- 22:34aren't as strong as the real one. So it's like, you know,
- 22:40law Law coming in with that, It's like, oh, well, if
- 22:42it's if it's dead this easily, then there's no way. Why do you
- 22:47say that? Some people hate to call it that. Oh so it's like,
- 22:52uh, some people hate the topic as a as a form of discussion
- 22:59at all. There are some people who really like to argue, like would
- 23:03this character beat this character one v one? You know, gotcha? And
- 23:08like there's a really kind of aggressive and degenerate way that that conversation can happen
- 23:14online. I know that I know the way you mean that word, but
- 23:18it just sounds like calling everybody who engages in it degenerates. It's very funny,
- 23:22although I am I'm saying saying that people of a certain type of degeneracy
- 23:27like to just like have these fights about who would win without Yeah, but
- 23:33there's you know, we we know if USA beat Keysaru the admiral one on
- 23:41one, that would be immensely that would take us out of the story very
- 23:45much, because you know, we'd had to suspend so much disbelief on you
- 23:48know what we understand the powers scaling to be right, and so you know
- 23:53it's one of so, but there's a lot of situations where it's like,
- 23:59Okay, these characters are coming up against each other, you know, who's
- 24:03who's gonna win and by how much? And there is you know, I
- 24:07don't know you are somebody who doesn't like that topic of conversation general, No,
- 24:12I do. I enjoy it when it's when it's relevant, like here,
- 24:18like you know, power scaling warlord versus robot copy of a warlord.
- 24:22You know it's relevant. It's it's why law and knows this thing and kid
- 24:26hasn't had the experience yet. There's like a lot going because we're near the
- 24:30end of the story now too, and the whole thing, so a lot
- 24:33of the quote unquote you know, like final matchups of people fighting are starting
- 24:38to happen, and it's just like who can beat who? So the power
- 24:41scaling discussion is always there and I like talking about it, but some people
- 24:47don't. Yeah, it's a tricky thing because, like I definitely there's certainly
- 24:53rhyme and reason to a lot of it. But then there are times where
- 24:57it feels like people will survive things that are painted as like really deadly,
- 25:07and then I start to get very confused about what I'm supposed to believe the
- 25:14bad guy is capable of. If this person was able to just survive the
- 25:18thing, like how scared should I be? Which is always tough because of
- 25:22the fact that you've got folks who are not going to die, and like,
- 25:27you know, that's the point, is that they're going to make it
- 25:30to the end. It can it can fuck with the idea of the type
- 25:37like what power people are working with, because how do you portray somebody being
- 25:45really affected by a thing if they are able to like just get up next
- 25:51episode and keep fighting or walking or whatever. I feel like with Kuma,
- 25:56it's actually pretty good because of the fact that Zorro is still suffering from his
- 26:02injuries after being put into that weird bubble, Like this is definitely the longest
- 26:07we have seen an injury persist on the show. I think wrong in terms
- 26:15of pure episode count like in a way that's like debilitating for their ability to
- 26:19fight. Yeah, I think so. So I feel like that's a good,
- 26:23like a good way to approach it. I hope that this is something
- 26:29that continues, is to just like have people be taken out for the count
- 26:36down, for the count out. I don't know which way I'm supposed to
- 26:40say that. I really feelately like my brain is slowly starting to decompose inside
- 26:47of my skull and I'm just losing like turns of phrase and saying them out
- 26:52loud. You know, when you look at a word too long and you
- 26:55feel like that's not language, that's nothing. It's like that, I'll say
- 27:00turn of phrase, and then I question it so much that I begin to
- 27:03think that this is not actually even a real turn of phrase, that I
- 27:07made it up. Down for the count, right, there is a down
- 27:11for the count, I know, but out for the count also makes sense.
- 27:15So that's why I wasn't. Yeah, so works for me. So
- 27:21yeah, having Zoro be the one that's like really badly, especially Zoro as
- 27:26our Maine fighter that's a really high impact sort of injured party as well,
- 27:33so I feel like he is sort of because I was getting sort of frustrated
- 27:37by it, you know, and not really sure how the way that Kuma's
- 27:45bomb goes off on thriller Bark and we see that massive explosion and it's all
- 27:51this like drama and it seems like the island has literally vanished for a second,
- 27:56and then it's all back and it's fine, and almost nothing seems to
- 28:00have even been hurt except for like a building that was my going all right,
- 28:07I don't why am I supposed to care? Yeah? But with the
- 28:11Zoro now I feel like we've got a workaround. And now I am like,
- 28:17Okay, if this can last this long, and especially on somebody who
- 28:22is so tough, like that's his whole thing, then that's intimidating. At
- 28:27least if I know somebody can't die, I can under I can see that
- 28:30it's possible they will just be removed from our lineup for the foreseeable future,
- 28:37and that's not a thing we want. Yeah, he's definitely willing to He's
- 28:44willing to sacrifice believability in that aspect for the dramatic moment like the whole Tell
- 28:48thing and Alabaster surviving the bomb in the sky and but I forgot. But
- 28:56you know, he didn't want to kill Pell, but he couldn't. He
- 28:57couldn't. He couldn't have that moment not doing that. And so it's you
- 29:00know, you get this cool, big big paw blow up at the end
- 29:04of the thrill of Bark, and it looks so cool and dramatic, but
- 29:07then it's like, it wasn't that bad, you know, Yeah, I
- 29:12forgot that whole thing with Pell. I was so mad, you guys,
- 29:17remember, I was basically like, if he's still alive, I'm going to
- 29:19quit the show and then he was but they waited so long to show me
- 29:23that he was still alive that I kind of like, so, all right,
- 29:26you can have this one, I guess. All right. So at
- 29:33this point, kid is in the midst of talking to Law and saying if
- 29:40he well, if he isn't a warlord, then what is he? And
- 29:44all of a sudden there's this huge crash and he looks up and it's like
- 29:48the silhouette of Kuma with his uh Arnold Schwarzenegger. I in term nat because
- 30:00you get that red glow, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, And
- 30:07we cut away from there to the moment where Zoro is on the ground and
- 30:12he is about to be stomped on by Kiseru, whose foot is glowing.
- 30:22I just really want to reiterate, these guys are so very large. They're
- 30:30so big, you guys like I think Kisaru is probably about fifteen feet tall.
- 30:40I think, oh, is there like a height spreadsheet somewhere? I
- 30:45should have known that. He looks like he could easily like his head would
- 30:53reach the roof of my house with the attic. So yeah, I'm I'm
- 31:00putting fifteen feet I wouldn't be surprised. I was even bigger, but let's
- 31:03say fifteen. Okay, so, uh, he's already like, isn't quite.
- 31:10The one thing that happens with both the anime and the manga is that
- 31:15he will also kind of make certain like proportions more extreme to make a moment
- 31:22more dramatic. Also, okay, yeah, so his official height is a
- 31:30nine feet eleven inches. Don't find it, No, Nope, that's wrong.
- 31:36But then you know, people got so white Beard the guy he met
- 31:38on a ship at one point, he's twenty one ft ten inches tall,
- 31:45So excuse me. Yeah, just you know, that's just how it goes.
- 31:49People can be big. But see, if the thing is, we
- 31:52know there are giants in this world, and you know, it's like a
- 31:56like Hagrid, you know where just like lots of generations down. You know,
- 32:05I just can't The only way that I can accept that there's like hybrid
- 32:14human giants is that the woman was the giant in the giant human setup,
- 32:23because otherwise, ouch, and even if we're not dealing without, we have
- 32:31got a proportion that I have to imagine she'd need like seven or eight regular
- 32:38human dicks to feel anything, because that one dick is not going to be
- 32:44doing it if you're a very large like these giants in this world, they're
- 32:51seriously humongous. What are you doing crawling there? Oh my god, I'm
- 33:00sorry you went there first. I I think I may have like said something
- 33:06about this one. Rashaan and I were talking about Hagrid that his dad was
- 33:09like in there, the the oh, the Hagrid conundrum. I hate this.
- 33:20There's gotta be so much like creepy fan fake out there, right,
- 33:24but this stuff, I don't mean just like one piece. I mean just
- 33:28like giants. Oh yeah, I'm sure something somewhere said. Oh man,
- 33:40there's no good way to like find out, because if I just searched giant
- 33:45vaginas, that's not gonna get me what I want. That's not what I'm
- 33:49talking about. I'm so sorry everybody. Uh Gus says, maybe male giants
- 33:55have surprisingly small penises. You know what gorillas have. Gorillas are huge and
- 34:01have like, you know, like one inch you know, do they really
- 34:05Yeah, yeah, they have they have tiny Well, okay, you know
- 34:12what I like that. Let's go with that. Then we'll say that it's
- 34:15like the gorilla situation. Uh, let's see Demian says, a lot of
- 34:21people think that having a devil fruit can make people have more random growth spurts
- 34:24depend depending on the fruit. The vast majority of people that are larger than
- 34:30normal have devil fruits, and all the ones without are always remarked upon as
- 34:34freaks of nature. Ha I'm a plugging in the charger real quick. One
- 34:39second, Okay, no problem. I kind of like that theory Demian,
- 34:45that like, depending on the power that you can have growth spurts, because
- 34:52like I'm thinking about, you know, the way that things work for Chopper
- 34:59is that it's not like he just turns into a human. He has like
- 35:04a couple stages weirdly, So I could see that if you are a human
- 35:09already, that maybe there's some sort of weird effects that it can have.
- 35:14All right, I accept it. Bernadette says, horrifying thought breeding programs,
- 35:21you know, as horrifying as that feels like it should be. Bernadette,
- 35:24I prefer the idea that we're just going to take a giant ovum and human
- 35:30sperm and mix them together in a test tube, test picture, perhaps depending
- 35:37on the size of the ovum. I don't know how big that would be.
- 35:38It was a giant. But yeah, and then you could just like
- 35:44implant in a surrogate. You know, I prefer that, But also if
- 35:51I suspect that's not what you meant by breeding programs, So I'm just going
- 35:53to smooth sail right past that and we're just gonna not at all talk about
- 36:00it. So anyway, Kisaru is about to stomp on Zoro, and this
- 36:12is when us Up steps in and starts to try and shoot things at him
- 36:15with his awesome slang shot. All of it goes right through him. Brook
- 36:22steps up and tries to stab him in the chest, goes right through him
- 36:27as well. I love that they're just sort of continuing to do the thing
- 36:31that they just saw. It doesn't work really repeatedly, to the point that
- 36:37Kisaru is like, yo, dude, there's no point to this. What
- 36:40are you doing? Why? Why are you continuing this? And then he
- 36:44says, I ate the glint glint fruit, and now I'm made of light.
- 36:54Ah. I gotta say, surprise the name for this one. And
- 37:07it's not like a bad name. It's a little hard to say. Like
- 37:12you say glink glint fruit, glin wlint fruit. You're not getting the tea.
- 37:16Right, You've got to really enunciate glint glint fruit. It just feels
- 37:22difficult. Gum gum fruit is granted, also kind of a weird name for
- 37:30like the rubber fruit power. We've got other names that for like devil fruits
- 37:37that are extremely basic to what they are, Like, wasn't mister two's or
- 37:42mister three, mister threes just the wax wax fruit. Yeah, So it's
- 37:47interesting to me how sometimes it's just a very literal direct, like we're gonna
- 37:54name it what it does. And then sometimes it's gonna be like, oh,
- 37:58we're gonna name it after a sort of you know, synonym for what
- 38:04you would say this does you know? So, like the story behind the
- 38:09Japanese name for Keysar's fruit is the peka pica no meat. Pika is in
- 38:15pikachu, which means like, so pika is an automount of pia for something
- 38:21that like glitters or sparkles, Okay, Yeah, And and so a lot
- 38:25of the Japanese names are kind of like little little references or punns like that,
- 38:30and so yeah, oftentimes, yeah, the English translation to that,
- 38:35which you know, has to be a word that's like short, you know
- 38:38that could be repeated like that. Yeah, it just doesn't doesn't quite mesh
- 38:45the same way. I wish that they had named it something like the glitter
- 38:49glitter Fruit. Yeah, like that would be you know, I feel like
- 38:53that's kind of a fun I didn't know that Peka Pika was sparkling, because
- 38:59that makes sense. He's like electricity, right, it says deal well light
- 39:05Yeah, no, I'm talking about Pikachu. Yes, I was getting ice
- 39:13from my from my fridge today and it has like a button that you can
- 39:17press to have crushed ice instead of the cubes and all the buttons. Says
- 39:22is like, there's a picture of a you know, animation of it falling
- 39:28and it says ice type underneath, And I really want to like do something
- 39:31with that and make a Pokemon ice type joke, and I can't come up
- 39:36with it. So if anybody out there has got a good idea for something
- 39:38that I could print out and tape above the ice type on my fridge as
- 39:44a little winky jokey bit, let me know what you got. Gust is
- 39:50saying gum gum equals goo no me translated, it's the rubber rubber fruit.
- 39:55Okay, I think I've a remember him saying that that sounds familiar, so
- 40:04and Demian is saying it's always on amonopeas. Yeah, that's too bad that
- 40:07that's lost. I wouldn't mind like a list of all of them that we've
- 40:13run into along the way. All the ones that aren't on amonopeas are wordplay
- 40:17or Japanese numerology. What does that mean? Numerology? Different numbers just like
- 40:25have different because what it is is like you can you can take what the
- 40:32syllables for a number, and like if you take those syllables like that are
- 40:38that you speak the number with, but then like translate it to like one
- 40:43of the other Japanese scripts, then it means like a different word. So
- 40:46so it's a lot of times, like like two syllables, you know,
- 40:50can have like two or three different meanings based on whether it's like kanji heraragana
- 40:58that. Oh. So, so there's like a bunch of and then there's
- 41:05just like certain like associations with numbers that just happened like by themselves that I'm
- 41:10not like not as familiar with. But I'm super curious about that just because
- 41:19like I can't think of anything like remotely equivalent in English to like words that
- 41:25are associated with certain numbers, you know, but then also like so for
- 41:30example, there's a series called Bleach and the character's main the main character's name
- 41:35is Ichigo, and ichigo is a word that means strawberry. But the numbers
- 41:38one in five are ichi and go, so you know, another another way
- 41:44to interpret this word is one five but like that's not a real word,
- 41:47but it just his name as Ichigo. But it's like got both strawberry and
- 41:52one five like packed into that, so it's it's it's it's yeah, interesting,
- 41:59interesting, all right, Wow, that's a lot. Yeah, I
- 42:01bet that's fun to play around with. We should we should have more going
- 42:06on with our language. It's weird. We've made our language like so over
- 42:08complicated in ways that are not interesting or helpful, and then like anything that
- 42:14could be cool, we're just like nah one meaning maybe two. So anyway,
- 42:22this is when Chopper like off to the side, is yelling for Zoro
- 42:28to run away, and Zoro is saying that he can't because he is way
- 42:32too weak, and Sanji, like everybody, is sort of prepared to do
- 42:38something. It looks like Sanji is about to run in there for a second,
- 42:42but Robin uses her powers to sort of like scoop him and she rolls
- 42:47him away, And I'm thinking, oh, perfect, you guys, this
- 42:52bitch just follows those arms, just trap Zoro again. It's nothing. It's
- 42:59so embarrassing. I hated this for her, Like her power usually is fucking
- 43:07clinch. It's saves lives so often. She comes through for us so often
- 43:15that how completely this fails really caught me off guard because he just it's it's
- 43:22he doesn't even miss a beat really, and yeah, that's again another like
- 43:29shift in place that feels very similar to Kuma, but he doesn't have the
- 43:34same like clearly hasn't even the same devil fruit. So is that an ability
- 43:40that isn't even related to the devil fruit at all that they've picked up somehow,
- 43:46or is it just that they each have an ability that can be turned
- 43:52to the same advantage where they can each basically teleport because of loopholes with their
- 44:00power being light. Yeah, traveling at the speed of light like that makes
- 44:07sense, But then there's the bubble thing. I don't know how that would
- 44:13aid in teleportation, right, but he's clearly that's what he's doing. It
- 44:21seems like the bubble thing. The bubble thing is weird on a like small
- 44:25scale, you know, like Any's lobby. We got the whole like shave
- 44:30thing where it's just like they get there and they go. And so you
- 44:34know, most most strong characters at this point are going to be able to
- 44:37quote unquote teleport you know, a short distance by just like moving really fast.
- 44:42But yeah, it does. It does seem like interestingly, you know,
- 44:49keys are and potentially you know, yeah, how do how do bubbles?
- 44:53How would bubbles teleport somebody? But you know, yeah, because I'm
- 44:59sure I I keep trying to like make that fit into somehow, but it
- 45:04doesn't really. It's just sort of if you're it's like the same thing as
- 45:07being able to practically fly, you know, where it technically being able to
- 45:15fly as like its own power. But our guys can like leap fifteen feet
- 45:21into the air and fight in mid air for like two full minutes, and
- 45:23it seems like that's pretty much flying, But nobody treats it that way.
- 45:30It's skywalking. You're kicking the air, sure you are. I don't believe
- 45:37you. Oh that's that's the in world explanation for it. I don't believe
- 45:42you. I don't believe that. Let's say that I don't believe in skywalking.
- 45:45Sorry, Luke, but you know what can you do? So yeah,
- 45:53he is like completely charged up is the wording I want to use.
- 45:59With his foot and saying time to die. We get along like everybody's screaming
- 46:05and rushing forward, trying to do something, and then here comes Raley,
- 46:13and Raley kicks him, and this man explodes like ten neutron bombs. It's
- 46:29he's fine, like immediately fine. So clearly it's not him exploding. It's
- 46:35it's that his power that he was about to use detonated in the air after
- 46:40getting kicked. But when I say that, fucking sky turns blood red for
- 46:49a second, and it's the whole sky. It is quite dramatic. So
- 46:55when he just stands up and it's like nothing happened, almost like he's just
- 47:04standing there, almost exactly where he had been, it looked like he got
- 47:07kicked into the sky, and I'm assuming that he did. But because he
- 47:14can travel like light, he can return just as quickly, and it's not
- 47:16really being knocked out of place isn't a problem for him. But it really
- 47:24like confused me for a second. I'm not gonna lie. I thought we
- 47:28were going to have to wait for him to recover at least at least like
- 47:34two or three seconds, and it's not. He's instantly back in place,
- 47:42and Rainley says to him, don't go picking these buds before they sprout.
- 47:49Their era is only just beginning, and I want to see what they do
- 47:53with it, which I do really really like that just as a motivating factor
- 48:01for him. It's not even like personally, I really like these kids,
- 48:07and I'd be upset if you hurt them more, just being like, no,
- 48:09they're interesting, and I just kind of want to see what happens.
- 48:15Not necessarily that those things are mutually exclusive, but I really do enjoy the
- 48:23idea of somebody older who has had like wild powers and has sort of gone
- 48:29on the d L for a while, just kind of wanting like to sit
- 48:34back and see some entertainment from other young folks who were stepping into the breach.
- 48:38You know, Sorry, this is Brenard's saying, so let's move the
- 48:46chat along. Nothing to see here, keep moving. Oh oh there was
- 48:50a spoiler. Okay, I'm not looking everybody, Just what's that? I
- 48:59just I don't remember all of that being explained quite so explicitly. It's not
- 49:04it's not a it's not a big deal. It's like a scientifically, you
- 49:08know, sort of valid way that the paw thing could could potentially like teleport
- 49:15somebody. Oh okay, yeah, and gust is saying pretty sure he explained
- 49:22it at the end of thriller. Bark Demian is saying, so it's not
- 49:27necessary, it's not a spoiler. Oh okay. I don't know what to
- 49:30do then, because I kind of want to read it. It's more like,
- 49:35because it was explained that his pause could deflect anything. I just didn't
- 49:38remember that if it, like because his comment set has deflected it up to
- 49:45light speed, and I just didn't remember that specifically being mentioned. Which so
- 49:49it's like just just like a minor thing. It's not not a not a
- 49:52huge, huge spoiler, but you know, I guess theoretically, you know,
- 49:59if he could if he could put them in a bubble and hit them
- 50:01like de Fleck that bubble, you know, way of teleporting somebody. Yeah,
- 50:12that's interesting. I like this, this light speed control we've got going
- 50:16on. What happened with these like new powers? Trying to think of something
- 50:21else that's sort of equivalent. What's the name of the dude who does the
- 50:23ice al Kegi? Al Kegi? That's right, uh, Because, like
- 50:31you know, being able to control cold is a power that you see a
- 50:37lot in but I feel like stuff with light can be a lot of illusion.
- 50:45Magic is sort of played as being light and considering the fact that he's
- 50:52a root is like appearing in front of them, but he isn't actually there.
- 50:59He he says he's made of light, but it almost feels like you
- 51:01could call that an illusion, or maybe he could create illusions, perform illusions.
- 51:07I don't know the way that I want to say that, I'd be
- 51:09interesting if he could project an illusion of himself with the light. Yeah,
- 51:15yeah, because if you're made of light and so many of your powers are
- 51:23based around light, could you just mold other light into a copy of yourself?
- 51:30Like Actually, because the thing with kids, rue is like they're attacks
- 51:36don't land, but he can sure as fuck hit them. I think the
- 51:42way you would end up having to do that is, I don't know's maybe
- 51:46like project like projecting the light through someone's like eyelids or something like like eyeballs
- 51:53to like like I don't know if you could. I don't know if you
- 51:58could make a bunch of photons like appear in a way that like looks realistic.
- 52:05But I don't know. You had to reflect reflect other things. I
- 52:10don't know. It's interesting to think about, guest Is saying, all chemises
- 52:17is if he deflects there at the speed of light to use his pad cannon,
- 52:21which is where I got the light speed apart from gotcha. Yeah,
- 52:23I just hadn't remembered. Okay, okay, sorry, guys. So,
- 52:29because we've talked about so much sort of out of order, that it's hard
- 52:31to know when I should even bother returning to you know, what's actually happening
- 52:38in the moment in the episode we're talking about. But basically we have Really
- 52:45and Keiseru engaging in a fight here, Really saying I would love to just
- 52:51fucking retire and get out of this game, but you guys won't leave me
- 52:55alone. You keep posting like my photo every where, and Keiserus like,
- 53:01dude, do you think that just because you're ready to retire, all the
- 53:06consequences of your crimes just go away? No, of course we're still chasing
- 53:10you. What are you talking about and they're also noticing that Raley's hit did
- 53:22connect even though there's didn't, which I have to assume is something to do
- 53:27with hockey. I really hate saying that because it just sounds like I'm talking
- 53:35about the sport. Guys, it's h ki you know, you know what
- 53:39I'm saying, Like, if you're listening to this, you know what I
- 53:43meant. But to me with you know, not having gotten used to this
- 53:46word yet whenever it's brought up, that's my If I'm not looking at the
- 53:52screen at those subtitles and seeing the spelling of it, I'm always just like
- 53:55hockey, what are they talking? Oh right, It's always takes a minute.
- 54:00I'm sure that I will get used to it and stop having that sort
- 54:01of association in my brain soon. Fingers crossed and Railey says, why don't
- 54:10you just look the other way and let these kids go? Kiseru is saying,
- 54:19man, are you living in a fantasy world? Of course I can't
- 54:22do that. The celestial dragons are going to make my life miserable. They're
- 54:29all up in our ship like the Marines. I can't just let that be.
- 54:35Like, you know, and it's sort of interesting because I had said
- 54:42when we were on thriller Bark and the way that Kuma swooped in, it
- 54:45felt like Kuma was trying to help in a weird way, and that's sort
- 54:52of what I'm thinking he might be trying to do here. Is everybody who
- 54:57gets like zapped away is somebody who isn't capable of fighting at the level that
- 55:06Lufy is at least in terms of That's tricky to say because I feel like
- 55:10people are gonna want to argue with me about this. Would you say Zoro
- 55:16is as strong as Lufy as a fighter? Yeah? The general answer is
- 55:24is no, There's there's an interesting there are there are specific parts of the
- 55:30story where where I think Zoro would potentially beat Lufy in a one on one
- 55:35fight just like them, specific because because of the matchup thing right cutting versus
- 55:38versus the right. But in general, uh, you know, Lufy is
- 55:45definitely the overall, you know, strongest person on the crew pretty much at
- 55:50all times. So if we if we go with that, then you could
- 55:58see what Kuma did as a favor. All Lufy keeps yelling is for everybody
- 56:05to run like everybody is so overmatched here outmatched. See you see what I'm
- 56:13saying, overmatched. I would never have said that, like last year or
- 56:16the year before. Something is eating at my brains. I'm so sorry everybody
- 56:22you're about to watch, Like the quality of all my podcasts just slowly,
- 56:27very slowly be eaten away by the acid of existential dread. I think is
- 56:32probably what's doing it. But they're so outmatched, and he keeps trying to
- 56:38get them to run. I want to believe that Kuma is like I got
- 56:45you, man, and just sort of putting them in the cupboard out of
- 56:50the way for a second. Well they well, all the big boys fight,
- 56:55you know what I'm saying. It's reasonable, it's something other than killing
- 57:00them. And it's just like, yeah, hopefully they're hopefully they're they're they're
- 57:04put all together again. But like like where we're supposed to be going to
- 57:07Fishman Island right now, we're supposed to be going right the world? You
- 57:12know what else is going on in the world right now? You know any
- 57:15of that gonna gonna mess with anything? Yeah? Could he just be putting
- 57:22them back on the sunny That would be pretty dope. That would be if
- 57:30they were like ready to go and stuff and able but they have to.
- 57:34Uh, the ship coating takes three days, right, right, and really
- 57:39is not on that ship coating job. He's out here fighting, So I
- 57:44have to assume that's been a little bit delayed. I assume maybe I'm wrong
- 57:49about that. I don't know what kind of assistance he's got. I don't
- 57:51know what kind of automation he's working with. Maybe he's got a whole like
- 57:54just pull in the ship and then press a button and take a lunch break
- 58:00and the ship gets coded. I just Kuma is not against them the way
- 58:09it seems like he is. He's so intimidating a figure with such wild powers
- 58:17that it's really hard to not see him as a threat. Which I mean,
- 58:23I'm not saying he's not a threat, but I'm just saying his motivations
- 58:28seem like a lot more clouded. And I the thing that's like driving me
- 58:36nuts about him is I feel like, if this is true, if my
- 58:42suspicion that he's like trying to help in his weird way is correct, he
- 58:46could tell them that he could communicate and be like, don't worry, I'll
- 58:53help guys. But he doesn't. He's just doing the thing and causing Lufy
- 59:00to have a complete mental break and watching him do it, by the way,
- 59:06like he stands and watches Lufy just completely fall apart. So if it
- 59:12does turn out, then I'm right. And Kuma has been sort of trying
- 59:15to help this whole time in his way, but he just decided not to
- 59:21volunteer that information. There better be a damn good reason that he couldn't have
- 59:27said out loud, Hey I'm helping, that's all I'm saying. One of
- 59:34these young kids these days are too optimistic to have the rogue pulled out from
- 59:37under him. I just really want the guy's got a little bear pause.
- 59:46That's cute. I don't want the bad guy to have a little cute bare
- 59:52ears and little bear pause. That's too cute. It's adorable, Like that's
- 59:59not a power for a bad guy. It's not that duality super tall and
- 1:00:04imposing. But then his voice is like kind of like he's like very soft
- 1:00:07spoken and kind of quiet. Yeah, yeah, I really enjoyed it.
- 1:00:13Do you watch the sub similar voice? I don't. I don't even know
- 1:00:19exactly what the dub sounds like. I should, I should check it,
- 1:00:22but it's it's like definitely on the higher end pitch wise for guys, and
- 1:00:30just like very it's like he's talking in a library, just very calm,
- 1:00:35you know. Yeah, that's basically what it sounds like with the dub as
- 1:00:38well. Is when he says don't interfere, it's don't interfere like very little,
- 1:00:50not little annunciation, but there's not a lot of emphasis put on any
- 1:00:54of it. And I don't know if that's just like his personality in general,
- 1:01:00or if it's the fact that he is working on the d L towards
- 1:01:04some cause that we don't know about and so he is trying to keep himself
- 1:01:08to himself. But I really kind of like that voice. Like this show
- 1:01:15is funny that way because the voice actors for certain characters take me by surprise
- 1:01:22a lot. Like Lufy's grandfather. His voice actor really caught me off guard
- 1:01:30because that guy does not have nearly as like low and rough a voice as
- 1:01:35I would expect from a dude who looks the way that he does. So
- 1:01:42yeah, I just anyway, Kuma let me. I'm just gonna say it.
- 1:01:47I want I want Kuma to be a helper because his motif is too
- 1:01:53adorable, and I want things to be okay with our friends, and I
- 1:02:00feel like, wow, we do have really on their side. He himself
- 1:02:06is like in too much trouble because they want him as well. Kuma operating
- 1:02:14on the d L would be more helpful in some ways. Really, I
- 1:02:19think outpowers Kuma, would we say that I'm putting another pets are Yeah,
- 1:02:28that's a question mark for sure. I feel like he must because like it's
- 1:02:38one of those things because like he he was keeping up and fighting with Kazaru,
- 1:02:44but it's like he would he beat Kisari. It was just like you
- 1:02:46know, one v one all the way to the death, and it's just
- 1:02:49you know, we don't know. We know that certainly we would expect the
- 1:02:54vice captain of the Pirate King's crew, you know, in his prime,
- 1:02:59to be able to do so. But it's just like how much how much
- 1:03:00as age, you know, and then how how strong is keys are compared
- 1:03:06to Kuma. So I don't know, it's I think it's I think it's
- 1:03:08very very up in the air. Could could go uh, but we haven't
- 1:03:13even seen that much. We haven't seen Kuma really be pressed either. You
- 1:03:15know, he's only he's only been dealing with that's true, you can deal
- 1:03:20with easily. So we don't know how how high his ceiling goes yet either.
- 1:03:23Yeah, that's true. That's a good point. M a lot of
- 1:03:29question marks. I just really I am wanting Kuma to be on their side
- 1:03:36because I want there to be somebody on their side who it feels like is
- 1:03:44sort of an insider. And if he is kind of secretly working with them,
- 1:03:52it makes it gives me a sense of like sort of comfort, you
- 1:03:57know, like they've got a person in their corner or that that potentially could
- 1:04:00really have an effect. So I think that's why I like really want to
- 1:04:06believe it. But also I don't know what his motivating, Like why would
- 1:04:12he be trying to help? Was that about? I know that he mentioned
- 1:04:15something about being connected to Ace at one point, like that he had the
- 1:04:19same reputation of like being a good captain as asted something like that, Yeah
- 1:04:25it was. It was a dragon at the end of the filler bark dragon,
- 1:04:30right kind of. And and and about how how you know your your
- 1:04:36son is picked good companions? Right? Okay, So I'm keeping an eye
- 1:04:47on the time here, and we've got about forty five minutes. Wait,
- 1:04:51no, we don't. We've got about twenty minutes completely misread that. My
- 1:04:56bad, But we also talked about like everything else that happens in the episode.
- 1:05:03We've kind of got over it, you know, we're not we're not
- 1:05:05really pressed on that because it's just, you know, what order of people
- 1:05:12did he make go away? Uh? Yeah, this is like the other
- 1:05:18power that I found sort of interesting. He's a roue is what does he
- 1:05:24call it? Something mirror and it looks like the same power that he used
- 1:05:30to travel up onto the rooftops. I'm not sure if that's the same thing
- 1:05:34or not. So I have a question about this, and it may just
- 1:05:40not really be that important, but you know, he's able, it seems
- 1:05:44like to sort of teleport in the in the moment where Robin is rolling Zoro
- 1:05:51away, Yeah, he can just teleport over to Zoro in an instant.
- 1:05:57It's not there's no time lost, it's a practically immediate movement. However,
- 1:06:03that's like somewhat close by, and so I'm assuming that that's why he didn't
- 1:06:11need to use any sort of special power to transport himself there, because what
- 1:06:15it looked like he was about to try and do was follow them into the
- 1:06:21woods because they're like escaping into the trees, and he's going to use this
- 1:06:26mirror power to project himself out ahead of the whole group, but then really
- 1:06:33interposes himself and stops him. So I just want to be clear, like
- 1:06:41sure that I understand the movement that he can take with or without using special
- 1:06:48abilities, because I'm I sort of forgot that he used that mirror thing at
- 1:06:53one time with the buildings, and I would think working with the speed of
- 1:06:58light and travel like light, that he should be able to get to the
- 1:07:02top of that building without using a special technique, do you know what I
- 1:07:12mean? I agree, I think it's I think when it's possible that it's
- 1:07:15just like you know, going at the speed of light, like in one
- 1:07:19direction, if you need to like go around any kind of corners or bends
- 1:07:24or anything like, he like sets up the mirror to go at like different
- 1:07:27angles or something like that, and then yeah, if it's just a straight
- 1:07:30line to where he needs to go, he doesn't need to do that.
- 1:07:31Again, it could just be a thing where it's just like that mirror thing
- 1:07:34going at the buildings that looked pretty cool, you know, it was like
- 1:07:39awesome, and so you know, it could just be him doing that for
- 1:07:44the effect of it. So, you know, either one that's interesting like
- 1:07:48getting around corners and stuff. I could see like if he wants to be
- 1:07:53ahead of them so that when they're running they're coming straight at him, then
- 1:07:57yeah, he couldn't just go through the whole group, although technically he could
- 1:08:01if he's light and they were punching him and it wasn't landing because he's not
- 1:08:05solid, he really should be able to go through the group. It's kind
- 1:08:11on how the physics. Yeah, it's fine, it's not important. Like
- 1:08:15I said, I was just sort of wanting to make sure that I wasn't
- 1:08:18missing something there. That's funny. I find sometimes now in one piece where
- 1:08:24there will be one random thing like that that I'll decide to decide to start
- 1:08:28picking apart, and he's like, would this really work this way? And
- 1:08:30then then I think, again, this is like, am I really choosing
- 1:08:34to dissect this in one piece and this is the line that I draw or
- 1:08:40what? Yeah? And so I just then I just toss it out.
- 1:08:44It is so easy to get caught up like that, Like I've done it
- 1:08:46a billion times on this show. Like there just came a point where I
- 1:08:51had to consciously be like, I'm not going to do that anymore, and
- 1:08:55I will address it just to say it because it like it occurred to me,
- 1:09:00and I want to be open with what I'm thinking. But I've tried
- 1:09:05to really just go it's magic. Basically, it's fine, whatever it's to
- 1:09:13look cool, I just something. There's occasionally times where is it just to
- 1:09:17look cool or am I missing something that's sort of like dovetail, And it
- 1:09:23can sound like I'm just criticizing not letting something go, when really I'm trying
- 1:09:29to be like, I feel like there's information here that I didn't see.
- 1:09:35So that's the part where I just occasionally get hung up is feeling like I
- 1:09:43just, you know, I'm not connecting thoughts that everybody else has already connected.
- 1:09:47And I feel like sometimes sometimes there is just like random information that doesn't
- 1:09:54seem like it should be that important but ends up being really important later.
- 1:10:00So oh, funnimation, what are you doing? But he paused on me.
- 1:10:06Its just completely like shut down. It hasn't done this before. Usually
- 1:10:11it's Hulu that I have this issue with, and then I press refresh and
- 1:10:15it brings the volume all the way back up to full cool. Thanks blowing
- 1:10:19my ear drums out. Oh my god, I forgot about how Brooke runs
- 1:10:28with his arms like this full full t shape, lifts on either side of
- 1:10:35his face. He makes a few like I'm a skeleton, I'm dead jokes
- 1:10:42in these two episodes in a way that's very understated and I really appreciated.
- 1:10:48Yeah, most of the time he does those, and he does but I
- 1:10:51don't have any lungs and it's a big like hatch. But this time it's
- 1:11:00sort of like, well, I guess I'm not even alive anyway, and
- 1:11:01he just like barely gets it out before some big thing happens, and I
- 1:11:06approved of it. I don't think that's going to get old for me.
- 1:11:12Ye will, but I'm going to predict right now it's not. I think
- 1:11:15I'm always going to be a fan of the I don't have skin or organs,
- 1:11:20am not alive, et cetera jokes. There are some good ones later.
- 1:11:26Oh yeah, Brooke is just honestly quite a delight, and I I
- 1:11:34have a I don't don't think I really like addressed it with myself, but
- 1:11:42I have a suspicion that Brooke is going to go on his own and hang
- 1:11:51out with Laboon and just like go live his own life and be away from
- 1:11:57our friends at some point. And I don't want him to do that because
- 1:12:04I really like him. I enjoy all the energy he brings. Except for
- 1:12:10the asking to see panties. We could really do without that. That'd be
- 1:12:14fine. But otherwise I want him to see Laboon. I want there to
- 1:12:20be a lovely reunion. I don't know how he continues to be a straw
- 1:12:26Hat crew member, just Laboon just continue to follow them around like his old
- 1:12:30crew. I guess that could work. I mean, it'd probably be pretty
- 1:12:35handy to have Laboon like around for weird odd jobs. I don't know what
- 1:12:44that looks like. But one interesting characteristic of the Grand Line in the New
- 1:12:49World is that at the end of the second half of the Grand Line technically
- 1:12:57is the end of that is the other side of the mountain that Laboon is
- 1:13:01crashing his head into right now, right, Yeah, So that's that's just
- 1:13:05interesting geography. But but yeah, getting getting to Laboon in a way that
- 1:13:11doesn't disrupt you know, the because you know, it's Brooks dream is to
- 1:13:18eventually reunite with Laboon. But everybody on the straw Hats dream is kind of,
- 1:13:25you know, kind of underneath the Laby being pirate king dream. So
- 1:13:30I feel like there can be a way to satisfying it because it's it's kind
- 1:13:34of a thing where it's just like, at this point, everybody's got to
- 1:13:38have their dream realized on the crew, you know. So we've got to
- 1:13:42have the Laboon reunion. But I'm sure there's a way we can get it
- 1:13:46without it, Yeah, but ruining everything, yeah, having it early and
- 1:13:53having Laboo come and you know, Laboon's probably got a mean headbut at this
- 1:13:58point, so he could probably probably keep up in some some pocean combat.
- 1:14:03He's also got Crocus flipping in there, and I don't know how that would
- 1:14:10shake out, Like can Crocus Laboon was like moving around a ton and Crocus
- 1:14:16seemed fine, right, I'm just I don't know how that would work.
- 1:14:24But I'm not against having Crocus be part of the crew in his way either.
- 1:14:29I just think he wouldn't be interested. He seems retired, he's done,
- 1:14:33you know. So yeah, I don't know. Okay, anyway,
- 1:14:42so let's let's get into the whole thing with Chopper, because when stuff really
- 1:14:48begins to go left. Chopper is starting to completely He is watching each of
- 1:14:59his friends go up against Kuma, and it's like the fake Kuma at this
- 1:15:05point, I think still, but he is really growing afraid for everybody to
- 1:15:15a degree that he decides that he is going to take more rumble balls and
- 1:15:23turn into this giant ogre like creature again, which I was very surprised.
- 1:15:30I've got to admit that he did this again so soon after thriller Bark.
- 1:15:35I didn't expect it. I thought somebody would stop him, that he would
- 1:15:43take more time to consider and be worried about the arm he could do with
- 1:15:47friends, and he doesn't. He just looks around and says, everybody's gonna
- 1:15:54die and leaps forward past Robin who tries to stop him, and he els
- 1:16:00get away from my friends, chomps a couple rumble balls and then begins to
- 1:16:05grow. And it happens so quickly that I hadn't even like fully processed what
- 1:16:12was going on here. And he is facing down with the dude with the
- 1:16:15big red and white bow whose name I cannot remember. Sent Tomorrow, Sent
- 1:16:24Tomorrow, Sent Tomorrow is working with the Kuma bot. Yeah, right,
- 1:16:33he is h He is the bigga punk doctor's bodyguard. Right, is the
- 1:16:41doctor who who made the Kuma Bots. I've got to be honest with you,
- 1:16:48I don't get like the point of this guy. He just seems I'm
- 1:16:57just I'm just forgetting he's around. That's how I'll frame it. Is not
- 1:17:01even that he's like a pointless character, but he is so not a threat
- 1:17:06that I'm feeling or a person that I'm interested in, that I completely forget
- 1:17:13he's there. And anytime we see him on screen, I'm like, oh,
- 1:17:17yeah, him, and then immediately forget him again. Yeah. So
- 1:17:24the whole thing with him, like, he isn't really a factor in these
- 1:17:30fights very much either. The only thing that he does at one point is
- 1:17:35like I think Lufy is demanding from him, where Kuma is like sending people
- 1:17:41or what's happening to them, and he doesn't know is what it comes down
- 1:17:45to. He like says something about how well legend tells about No, it's
- 1:17:50nothing. It's just like people's guesses and nobody is certain, So he doesn't.
- 1:17:58He isn't serving that much of a point in the story at this juncture.
- 1:18:04And maybe he will, and maybe I will eat my words. But
- 1:18:09oh my god, Demians says, just imagine Frankie getting his hands on Laboon
- 1:18:15and building him into a cyborg whale submarine. Look, I'm not saying that
- 1:18:21that couldn't be cool, but I am saying that I have still not watched
- 1:18:28Guardians of the Galaxy three because I have heard that there's a lot of body
- 1:18:32horror stuff in relation to how Rocket got to be the way that he is.
- 1:18:39And I cannot be excited about a cyborg whale submarine in the context of
- 1:18:48the horror that would be to do to this animal who has been through so
- 1:18:55much already. So if we if something happened and he was injured and there
- 1:19:01was only one way to save him, and that's to make him the cyborg,
- 1:19:04fine, but that has to be the only thing like otherwise, No,
- 1:19:11absolutely, did you see Gardance three? I did not yet, Okay,
- 1:19:16because I've heard some like pretty intense body horror stuff. I'm not sure.
- 1:19:21I'm I'm interested. I'm not like super huge into. I don't know.
- 1:19:27I don't I don't go see Marvel movies in theaters as much anymore.
- 1:19:30I'll wait for them to come out on streaming. That's kind of where I'm
- 1:19:34at too. I went to see Barbie and that's the first movie I've seen
- 1:19:36in theaters, and like a lot I did the Barbenheimer we Go, But
- 1:19:45yeah, the I had a couple of people who said that they brought their
- 1:19:47kids and wish they hadn't because it was like intense enough that they had difficulty
- 1:19:53and their kids were genuinely, like really upset by it. So I'm just
- 1:19:56sort of like, I'm not great with that sort of thing anyway. And
- 1:20:00if it's bad enough that folks are like, I wouldn't recommend it, I'm
- 1:20:04gonna just sort of stay away and maybe i'll watch it when I can look
- 1:20:08down at my phone and not see the thing, or you know, fast
- 1:20:12forward or go to the bathroom something like that. Gus says, what every
- 1:20:17new pirate that enters a Grand Line think the first thing they see is a
- 1:20:20giant whale with a straw hat Pirates flag painted really badly on its forehead.
- 1:20:25That's true. I didn't really think about that. If they see him,
- 1:20:28he kind of already is a cyborg, and Demian says, Labun already has
- 1:20:31all kinds of metal hallways in there. He kind of already is a badly
- 1:20:35built cyborg. I guess that's true. How did that happen? Did Crocus
- 1:20:43built little that in him? Apparently? All right, Crocus, I am
- 1:20:47you now hmm okay, I don't like it. He learned the strategy one
- 1:20:56time when he made it with a giant you. Oh my god, I
- 1:21:00hate so much. Okay, now we're leaving. We're leaving. So this
- 1:21:05is when we go to the moment where the bot is at about about I'm
- 1:21:15trying to say the bot is about and I'm saying the bot is a bot.
- 1:21:19The bot is about to attack and real Kuma. He steps in,
- 1:21:29and it's interesting because he tells him to stand down, which does make the
- 1:21:34bot back off, but then as the next episode continues, he begins to
- 1:21:44try and attack them again. So it's like he's being given an order,
- 1:21:48but then somebody else's order is overriding what Kuma is telling him, or Kuma
- 1:21:56telling him to back off, only like lasts for so long as command and
- 1:22:00then he has to renew it so to speak, like there's you know what
- 1:22:08I mean, like it wears off. I don't know, but it's It
- 1:22:12surprised me because Kuma seems to be able to get it to completely back away,
- 1:22:17and then all of a sudden it starts going for them again, and
- 1:22:21I sort of not expecting it to come down to him versus himself, but
- 1:22:30yeah, he sees Zoro and it's like, oh, hey, Zoro,
- 1:22:33I didn't see there. And us Up is like, Zoro, come with
- 1:22:36me, let's get out of here, and as he reaches out, Kuma
- 1:22:44slaps Zoro and he completely disappears, like there's sort of a dust devil that's
- 1:22:50left and that's about it. And poor us Up is completely freaked out because
- 1:22:58us Up isn't I mean, he is very freaked out in the best of
- 1:23:00times, but he just saw his friend totally vanish. And this is when
- 1:23:06we get the first look at all of the giant bubbles hovering above the island
- 1:23:15and the first one popping. Now we basically talked about how everybody disappears movies
- 1:23:27complete breakdown at the end, since we're going to be out of time pretty
- 1:23:32shortly, is there anything specific that you wanted to talk about before we wrap
- 1:23:39this one up? Nope, We're pretty much fun. You know, there's
- 1:23:44no real way to speculate on where they they could be. You know,
- 1:23:48it seems most likely that you know, whether they're together or separate. You
- 1:23:55know, we're going to know some new place. Don't imagine we're going to
- 1:23:59get completely reset to the beginning or anything. But yeah, it's go.
- 1:24:03It's this is like, I don't know, this is the beginning of the
- 1:24:08best SAKA so far. A lot of people think, and it's it's it's
- 1:24:13a it's a roller coaster ride going up a thing here into a into a
- 1:24:19crescendo, and it's a yeah, it's gonna be a good, good one
- 1:24:25hundred episodes or so. Oh boy, man, hundred are you saying from
- 1:24:31when we started this arc or coming up like the next hundred? Uh,
- 1:24:39we'll say coming up maybe maybe not maybe at the start, I will hold
- 1:24:44you to this. I was just wondering what you mean from the start about
- 1:24:45about one hundred maybe okay, that could that could be off, but like
- 1:24:49a decent a decent chunk. I'm also really compelled by the fact that like
- 1:24:58Key's over doesn't seem to really want to be doing this. He's just like
- 1:25:00the celestial dragons are sort of making it so that I can't say no.
- 1:25:05And I wonder if they were taken out of the equation, if he would
- 1:25:10just be like, yeah, whatever, guys, I guess go sail away
- 1:25:12and enjoy yourselves. Like he just seems so laid back about everything that I
- 1:25:18want to think he isn't a bad guy exactly. He's just following bad orders
- 1:25:28kind of makes you a bad guy. But that high up, it's just
- 1:25:30like, you know, I'm sure he understands what the situation's like. He
- 1:25:34knows that there are human trafficking options that like, you know, shouldn't be
- 1:25:40there. But that's the true about So it's just like I imagine it's kind
- 1:25:44of like real life. It's like once you get high enough, you kind
- 1:25:45of get so cynical about the way the whole system is and just go like,
- 1:25:48well, that's just how it is, you know, one stay check
- 1:25:54true. Well, all right, thank you guys all so much for hanging
- 1:26:01out with me, And thank you to Shane Kratos for coming and joining me
- 1:26:08on the episode. I really appreciate it. It's always fun to have somebody
- 1:26:12else like chilling with me and not having to make all the conversation myself.
- 1:26:17So lovely to have you. Thank you. I'm really interested in where we're
- 1:26:24going with this, you guys. I don't like seeing LuFe this down.
- 1:26:29Lufe's always the guy, even when he's upset, He's like, we can
