- Ted Turner: What's up, Dog Nation? Welcome to Dogs Down South. I'm your host, Ted, and I have Fish with me. What's up, Fish? How are you, man? Adam Fisher: What's up, buddy? Good, good, good. Ready to go. Ted Turner: How goes it, man? Like how's your week going? I know you weren't with us on Monday night, but how was your little recap from the weekend? Like how did you feel about the game against Tennessee State? Like what was your kind of kick it off, what was your overview of the weekend from your perspective? Adam Fisher: I was almost right. I said seventy two to three. And we were almost there. Got sixty three. kind of reminded me of that that that bowl game against FSU a few years ago. Sixty three to three. loved it doom. like the way the team looked. overall as far as all the f you know, football goes. I think it was a pretty good weekend for week one. I think there was lots of drama. There were a few really good games, few nail biters. How about Auburn? You know, saving themselves at the last second. That was pretty that was pretty cool. That was one of the best tackles of that man's life, I bet. but overall, man, just super pumped, man. And if this is anything that we can expect from like this is what we can expect from the rest of the season, man, then it's gonna be a good one. Ted Turner: Yeah. Somebody that was listening to Rusty Emanzell, and I think I think you said it best. He said, you know, Brock Bowers used to say you can't control who you line up across from, but you can control the outcome of who you line up across from. So I mean, obviously this was a a little bit of an outmanned opponent that Georgia played. And so the expectation was to was to win, win big, execute at a high level. and do the four or five things that we talked about. And I think we did that. And I mean that's all you can ask for, right? So, you know, defense held, you know, both parts of offense rushing to somewhere around some sick number of like 10 yards, passing was somewhere like 99. It was both both those were double digits and passing and and rushing. And so I feel like that kind of just sums everything up. It was like Yes, it was an opponent that we were supposed to do that from, but I will say this. How many times have you seen Kirby continue to let that we we had the opportunity to let the clock run. and and they agreed beforehand. So it wasn't like Kirby was like, let's just run it, run it in the ground. You we know that's not Kirby at all. But they both agreed, you know, with storms rolling in towards the end of the game. They wanted Kirby wanted to play as many players as possible. But one thing I will tell you is is he played those guys, but he didn't close the playbook down. Right. It stayed open. And I thought that was really cool to see. It was like, you know, everybody got a chance to throw the ball. It wasn't just like, okay, Ryan Montgomery heads in, he hands the ball off five times. We weren't playing that game, man. Kirby Smart left the playbook open. What'd you think about that? Adam Fisher: Dude, I think he's trying to change the narrative. You know, like, you know, last year was a letdown as far as, you know, big plays and things like that go. And, you know, we need a little more aggression on offense. And I think that's what he's trying to inject, you know, into the players and to us as fans. Like he's trying to, you know, say, Hey, you know, last year was last year, but you know, this year it's we're gonna try to be more explosive. We're gonna try to, you know, take some big shots downfield and you know, I I'm here for it, dude. I love the aggression. Like I love that's what I wanna see because, you know, for the longest time, man, it's like, you know, Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Texas, they're beating these teams, you know, fifty, sixty to like, you know, three, four, five. And, you know, we're over here twenty eight to three. You know? And, you know, I don't know about you, but I wanna see some points. Like I wanna like like you know, not to be, you know, I have to run up the scoreboard, you know, or anything like that, but just that we can. You know, it it bodes more confidence because you can't tell me that you feel better about the team now a than you did last year after the Austin P game. Like you you can't tell me that. Ted Turner: Right. Right. Yeah, no, I I think that's spot on. I think, you know, seeing Kirby, you know, this is this is Gunnar Stockton year two, fifth year in the program. And you know, i what people need to understand about Gunner is is Gunner's a dog, man. Like we're very fortunate. I this might be the last time you ever in the history of Georgia football see a fifth year starter at Georgia. I mean, it's just not the narrative anymore with NIL and college football. Like it's becoming something that's gonna be very scarce to see. And so you could be seeing history in the making. and everybody would love to look at Gunner and go, man, Gunner was gonna stay last year. I mean, even when Mendoza, you know, the whole fluke of Mendoza and the missed phone call and could Fernando Mendoza could have been the quarterback at Georgia, he was gonna stay through that, you know. needless to say, there's not all parts of that story that are true. It's there's some that's kind of fluky. But there is parts of it that, know, Fernando Mendoza did seem s have some interest in coming to Georgia, but he was going to stay through all that regardless. And so, you're kind of seeing, you know, some history this year because I don't know that you will see a fifth year quarterback starting. I mean, this is probably the scarce times of NIL where this is the the tail end of some of these athletes who started when N. I. L. started, who are now finishing when NIL is getting going really strong. And so it was just cool to see the playbook open. You know, you feel like you did see some screen passes. I mean, we trolled a little bit, first pass of the game, screen pass. Would I have liked to see Gunnar stretch the field more? yeah, but I mean, let's just be honest. Like, I think too, Kirby had a little bit of a desire to be explosive, but also to see what we could do in certain areas of how we how we, you know, perform the 25 to 50. 50 plays that we wanted to get accomplished, right? Also, this is the time of year you don't want a lot on tape, right? Just to just a sacrifice a win. You don't want a lot on tape heading into SEC play in the next couple weeks. So so it's definitely history in the making. I mean, I think you're seeing that with everybody. I don't want to spend too much on time with with this, but you know, I was live last night with all our TikTok friends. It was a really good time. We had about 40 to 50 people in the room, so it was really cool to see. And a lot of people Wanted to wanted to they asked the same question over and over and I wanted to put it I wanted to to to relay it on here and I don't want to give Lane Giffin any more media time than he already gets, but you know, a lot of people are asking the question. The number one they asked question last night was do we, do I really think that the SEC would kick LSU out? Now, first and foremost, the bluff has been called. You know, LSU pulled those players back, they filled out their roster. And so that does mean that they're like, we're not gonna field those players. And so that kind of changed the dynamic of that meeting is supposed to happen tomorrow. but there was a lot on the table last night, as late as nine or ten o'clock, that might have seen Lane Kiffin suspended, fined. what I thought would have been poetic was if he got suspended and never even got to play Ole Miss, never got to coach against Ole Miss. That'd have been pretty poetic, right? But what's your take on that, Adam Fisher: Yeah. Would have. Ted Turner: Fish? I mean, I will I will tell you the answer to this is I do not and you can I mean, part of me goes, maybe, but I do not think they were gonna they were gonna kick LSU out. But I also think that in the heart of hearts, as Sankey was like, they're not dumb enough really, right? To like push the envelope enough to make us kick them out to just kind of say, Hey, like we somebody's gotta draw the line, right? The NCAA's not doing it. Supreme Court and courts aren't doing it. So somebody's gotta draw the line going, You, you, you, you dr you join the SEC. Here's the stipulations, here's the rules. Abide by them or get out. What Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: what do you think? Adam Fisher: I mean, yeah. I don't think that's that's really hard to answer because like I don't think they want to. I don't think Greg Sankey wants to do that. In fact, I know that's probably the absolute last thing that he would like to have to do. but you know, like they called him like he you know, went in there, he was on the stand for like four hours. Like I think he's dug in and I think what they've said about him and to him You know, during all this, I think he's like, Okay, you know, whatever, do what you're gonna do, and then I'm gonna do it, like, do what you gotta do, I'm gonna do what I gotta do. And if they keep forcing his hand, like you know, like a lot of people thought it was gonna go away after they didn't, you know, put those guys on the roster, they played the game, they won, that was it. But no, what did Lane have to do? He had to make some comments during his halftime interview and the post game interview. He had to make some comments. Like he had to be himself. He couldn't just throttle back. And so now and then like Sunday the SEC took action and you know re you know, redid some of the you know their rules or whatever that they were doing. They put some new literature in there. And, you know, they're like, Okay, your move. You know, it's like a game of chess, honestly, and say I I don't know. I think if Lane doesn't stop, then Then something bad will happen because apparently there's no authority. Apparently it's Lane and the Governor running the show. Where's the president and the A D? Like unheard of. They're in a hole. They're in a bunker somewhere. You know? And I don't know. I I don't know. I I hope not because LSU was part of the conference. They're part of what I remember growing up as a kid seeing, you know, like that the the LSU Arkansas game for the golden boot, you know, back when Darren McFadden was there. Like that was one of the best games I've ever seen. You know, and that rivalries and things like that are part of what make football in the co in this conference great. And I would hate to see something happen like that, but you know it I don't know. I don't know. Ted Turner: Here's the big question. Here's the big question. and I'll give it to you and then I'll I'll answer. So if if LSU, let's just say they were, if if they if Sankey decided you're gone, right? There's an open spot. Like, what would be I want to say not realistic, what would be a funny like team that would take over that spot in the SEC? And you could be real too. Like, who do you think would be a good fit to take over that spot for LSU? If let's just say it were to happen. Who would be interesting? Or maybe interesting. Adam Fisher: Good fit. A good fit. Interested? I think I think half the ACC would be interested. I think there's a few teams in the Big Twelve that would be interested. Baylor, Texas Tech, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida State, Clemson, which both of them. but, you know, there's there's a lot, I guarantee you a lot of people that would jump on that spot. And I don't think we're a hot the hot, you know, a hot commodity or anything, but I just think You know, with all the the the money that we generate and I think that we get from media right deals and things like that, I think it would be a lucrative decision. And I think a lot of other teams sitting out there know that. So I'm sure we have better media right deals than the Big Twelve do, at least right now. I don't know if I think the ACC has a decent one. But you know, there I think there'd be a lot of teams willing to take that spot. Ted Turner: Got a I got a funny one and I got an interesting one. I'll give you my funny one because I'm really doubling up on what somebody else said. and I'll I'll I'll say what you said. wouldn't it be interesting? no, no, no. Wouldn't it be funny? Wouldn't it be funny to get Texas Tech in that spot? It's like releasing the danger for more danger, right? I mean, we got all this stuff. I mean, basically, the two teams that have stayed in the in the news the most over the po over the offseason has been Texas Tech with Soresby and Lane Kiff and an LSU, and you just go, all right, we're gonna swap them out for Texas Tech, who probably might could be just as bad in the near future as far as how much money they're willing to spend and how many rules they're willing to bend to try to try to get what they want to get accomplished. And the interesting one would be how far do you think Georgia Tech could go to get into the SEC and how good could they be if if they're in the great state of Georgia recruiting now at a level where now they're the even the playing field with Georgia as far as being in the same conference. I think sometimes Adam Fisher: Yeah. Georgia Tech. Ted Turner: sometimes that could be interesting, Fish, because I think the recruiting pitch sometimes is is do you want to play in the SEC? And that might be the only dividing factor sometimes that brings some of these players in Georgia to Georgia. Do you agree? Adam Fisher: That's true. A hundred percent. Ted Turner: Were you gonna say something to about as far as Georgia Tech and the A? Adam Fisher: I mean well I was just I was saying Brett Key has that program, you know, heading in the right direction, man. I think they're like they're they're on fire right now. You know, I think they're trending up. Definitely trending in the right direction. You know, def I could see them. Yeah, I didn't mention them earlier, but I don't know. I I wouldn't mind it. I wouldn't hate it. Ted Turner: It it would be inter it would be very interesting. It'd be very interesting to see that happen. All right. Well speaking of speaking of top twenty-five, obviously the AP came out. And I'm not, you know, are some people happy that Georgia jumped a two and coach's poll has them at six. I think everything is a little bit too unknown. There's a there's a lot of freak out sessions going on about the AP and you know, l let's just put it this way. There's There's so much inconsistency in the AP and the coaches poll right now that in the AP, Georgia's in second but has no first place votes. And there are teams that are in, I think it's fifth and sixth that have first place votes. So I mean, to a lot of the listeners that are freaking out right now about the AP and I I think honestly a lot of lot of these power rankings that are that are out, and I know on Monday I shared my power rankings, and so if you wanna go check it out. we dropped episode one eighteen. You can go check out the power rankings for week one. but like I feel like there wasn't a lot that separated. However, however, not to stay on this top I I've said this other times, but like everybody's really riding the coattails of LSU and they feel like they should be the biggest jump. They feel like they should be the biggest. They went from like, what's this team going to be under L S I mean under Lane Giffin and can he turn this around that quick? And And we said it over and over. $50 million rosters can turn real quick. I mean, and we saw that on display this past Saturday night. I mean, granted, this is the Clemson team that was not very good. Chad Morris, we said it over and over, it's gonna be the death of of Dabo Sweeney. That was a very sketchy call. but like, what do you think about I mean, what do you think about some of these teams that played and what do you think of how they how the top looks? I mean, we had teams like Texas. These are all names that are that are swirling around. Ohio State, Texas obviously, out you know, Miami was in the mix with Stanford, Georgia, like how did you think that all looked and did you think there was any real separation at the top? Or do you think everybody just kinda needs to pump the brakes and it's too too too early? Adam Fisher: I don't know. I think you can't I think it's hard to tell right after week one. You know, I think Ohio State looked good, Texas looked good, you know, Miami did, you know, manhandle Stanford, but these teams like Stanford and like Clemson even, and I'm not afraid to say it, Clemson's at the bottom of their conference. It's not like they're Clemson, they're Missic State or their Vanderbilt and from from the nineties, like they're They're down low. They're at the bottom of their conference. They're not a good team. And they're not even, I hate it's hard to say this, but they're not even well coached. I mean, you can't tell me the LSU's that good. I mean, they're good, but some some games, and I was thinking about this earlier while I was watching it, like it brings me back to like 2010, 2011, Georgia went to South Carolina, and it was right when South Carolina got this the their sandstorm, you know, when they started doing the towels and playing that song a lot, you Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: know, the the that one song they play all the time. Like all that, that was like the first real time and like they had done that and that atmosphere and everything like buzzing around the game, like you can just kind of feel it like before the game even started. That, you know, Georgia was in trouble or Clemson was in trouble. You know, some some teams are just gonna like some games are just are they over before they start. And like we were the better team when we went in there, you know, and we were ranked higher, we we should have won, we were picked to win, and South Carolina gave us everything we wanted. Like, you know, like more than we could handle. Like they beat us down, and it wasn't close. Like it wasn't a close game, like it was a beatdown. And you know, some sometimes things like that happen. So I'm not reading too much into the LSU Clemson thing. I don't think Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: LSU's I think they're good, but I don't think they're that. Ted Turner: Yeah, this is a sneaky good slate this week, right? I'm I'm I'm really excited to pick these games this week. It's a sneaky good weekend for college football. This is Big Ten SEC separation weekend. I mean, you got you got obviously Michigan getting a a visit from Oklahoma. obviously, you know, that's an interesting game because of how bad Michigan looked against Western Michigan and the bailout they got from replay officials. And then obviously you have the big one, Texas and Ohio State. I'm very interested in the Minnesota, Mississippi State game because of how many points Mississippi State was was, I mean, I'm sorry, how many yards that they mustered up this past weekend? Over 768 yards of total offense. And Kamario Taylor looked nuts, man. Like he's just, he looks like he's flicking the ball 60 yards. They're going to be a very hard prep for anybody this year. very hard prep on defense. And it's always gonna be the same question. Like, can the defense manage to hold the other team enough to enough points? I mean, crazily enough, Minnesota is still right now has a like a point and a half on Mississippi State, which could change by as early as Saturday, I mean as late as Friday night, you know, it could could change more Saturday morning. But I'm interested in those games and so it's really hard. Like I agree with you. It's It's basically all based off of when you look at the top six to ten teams, whoever whoever kind of lined up in front of them, did they take care of business? Were they effective? Did they did they do you feel like they were in the spot where they did their job? And if you moved them around, it was all based off of opinion, which really the AP and the coaches is opinion anyway. There's no metrics and there's no legitimate set of rules that they're going off of of why do you have them second? And it's all eye test, right? I mean, with the exception of, I mean, I'll tell you some standout things though that keep me from going like with every team, some things that scratched my head. I'll give you I'll give you I'll give you Texas first, right? You got outrushed by Texas State. Like you y you improved the running game, which we wanted to see that happen, but it was pretty it was pretty wild to see that they got they got outrushed that day by Texas State and defense Adam Fisher: no. Ted Turner: allowed 300 plus yards of total offense to Texas State. So those are like head scratchers because you got to think, man, Ohio State's coming in with a much more potent offense, right? You got Julian Say in year two. I mean, you got these these freaking, you know, transformer receivers out there. Jeremiah Smith, you got Henry from the the freshman. I mean, this defense is not too Adam Fisher: Jackson. Ted Turner: far off where they were last year. It's a tough, it's a tough draw, man. And so I look at that. what else? I mean, did you watch any Miami, Indiana? Or I mean, we we talked a little bit about LSU. One thing I would say Adam Fisher: too. Ted Turner: about LSU is I do feel like that Sam Levitt, I feel like he had a little bit of the Gunner syndrome from last year, where I think he had some throws that he turned down for his legs, and that was what he was notorious for at Arizona State. Ken Dillingham used to say it. He was like, I just want Sam to throw the ball a little more in space where we need to be throwing the ball instead of I got these legs, I'm just gonna run. I know I can do it. Did you you check any of Indiana, Miami out? Adam Fisher: Miami th you talking about Miami from the A C C or Okay, I th I didn't know if you were talking about Miami, Ohio. Ted Turner: Yeah, Miami, yeah, Miami from the ACC. I mean, they won convincingly, but no, no, no, no, no. I mean, they won convincingly, obviously. But is anything stood out? I'm just kind of getting to Adam Fisher: do. Ted Turner: the point of I just don't really think these teams did any I mean, there was there was points in their games that were like, okay, this is we had some spots. They were stronger, then they were weaker, but there were some spots and it kind of made you scratch your head and go, This could all turn on a dime next week, right? Adam Fisher: Exactly. Miami, you know, we're not gonna know anything about them really until they play stiffer competition. But you know, Malachi Tony is fun to watch, dude. I w I was watching that game and I was very, very, very impressed. I mean he was great last year, but Woo Like at at one point they showed like if he continued this pace like for the rest of the season, he's on pace to score like eighty touchdowns or y something crazy, like have some sort of crazy amount of yards. Like it was it was it was almost like somebody was controlling him. Like it was like we were watching like you know EA sports, college football or something. Like it it was nuts, dude. But Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: Indiana looked pedestrian. Like they didn't nothing really stood out to me about what they did. It was just a normal better team beating a worse team. Like it wasn't anything special. Like nothing fancy, you know nothing really to talk Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: about. Ted Turner: I agree. I mean they look more human than they ever have. I think, you know, I said this and let me just tell you, like, I and I really enjoy the time on hanging out on TikTok and you get some really passionate fans. Even though I had a SEC Power Ranking show last night, had a lot of Notre Dame fans in there. Crazy enough, man, a lot of Boise State fans in there, which so I was I was, you know, obviously I saw that game and I think that game could have gone either way. I think it exposed Oregon's defensive line a little bit. but needless to say, man, everybody's there's like eleven to twelve fan bases that think they can win the net that they can win the SEC championship this year. There really is. Kentucky feels like very confident that they can knock off Alabama this week. Very confident they can't. everybody I mean, obviously Mississippi State, they feel like, you know, the offense is good enough to to win them ball games outright, regardless of the defense just folds. obviously everybody loved what they saw from Florida. I mean they I mean Buster Faulkner, this offense, you know, with with Philo. I mean, there's just the list goes on and on, but it's crazy to know that this many SEC fan bases are looking and going, you know, this is this is our year. And it's like, okay, slow the roll real quick. There's only two that can go. and honestly, like this is the year where we could see some nine and three SEC teams make the playoffs. There's one thing that's been really steady, and I and the reason I think this conference can be so competitive this year, Fish, and I don't know if you agree with this or not, but I personally think it's the quarterback play. I think this year has been something to see for as far as the quarterback play. I mean, so many guys that are in year two, so many promising guys that have transferred in from other programs. so I thought it would be cool to just talk a little bit about quarterbacks around the SEC. and obviously we'll end on Gunner, but obviously we talked about Camario Taylor, but geez man, I I think his his stats are something that should be talked about. you know, three hundred and fifty-four yards, four touchdowns, zero interceptions. added fifty-nine yards rushing, another touchdown. But some of the most impressive things he did was it just felt like he was just flicking, like just flicking the wrist on fifty and sixty yard passes. That's scary. And he's a big kid, man. He's a tall Adam Fisher: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Ted Turner: kid who can who can beat you on both, you know, both sides of the ball. I think somebody said the other night, they were like, the question is not about how far Camario Taylor can take Mississippi State, is where's Camario Taylor gonna end up next year? I was like, isn't that sad, Adam Fisher: Ha ha ha Ted Turner: man? That's really sad. Really, really Adam Fisher: That's where we're at. Ted Turner: sad. we really are, man. We really are. Kenny Minchie, Kentucky. Adam Fisher: That's that's that's the world we live in right now. Ted Turner: I mean, NIO, man, everybody's being scouted. Like we're sitting there, we're going up against we're going up against Mississippi State, but on the backside, there's there's certain coaches and certain people on the sideline that are going, hey man, if there's any talent on this field that we can look into for next year, let's write them down. Let's scout them, all the above. so yeah, I thought Kenny Minchy from Kentucky, three hundred and one yards. Kentucky looked Kentucky look relevant, man. Like they look like they had an offense. That's that's wild to see. I wasn't seeing some thrown together crazy Pop Warner like Tech Mobile playbook. Like it was just kind of cool to see, man, right? Adam Fisher: So she would expect to see. Yeah. Ted Turner: what did you think about Arch? I mean, I know you watched little bit of the Texas game. Like, what I mean, I mean, Arch had a pretty good day, 305 yards, four touchdowns. What what what stood out to you about Arch? Adam Fisher: He looked better game one week one this year than he did last year, I'll tell you that much. But different teams, different opponents, I get that, but even week two. I know he he he tripped when they were running out of the tunnel. Like he did you see that? I don't know if you saw that. He they blew the smoke Ted Turner: Yeah, maybe. Adam Fisher: and they took off and he hit some I mean, he went down hard, dude. Like he just boom, like he disappeared into the smoke. It was hilarious. But outside of that, he had Ted Turner: Can you Adam Fisher: a good day. Ted Turner: can you imagine, bro? Can you imagine if Texas' season, fifty million dollar rosters are derailed by the pyrotechnic part of the pregame show? Like, Adam Fisher: I know. Ted Turner: what like what are we doing, man? I mean, I I don't know, man. I mean, I get it, it's part of the narrative of NIL, Adam Fisher: I he went down and that that's concrete. Ted Turner: but he did, man. And I didn't see it because it was full of smoke. so I didn't know what he hit. I didn't know how quick he bounced up, but it was wild, man. Adam Fisher: Just disappeared. Ted Turner: Like I couldn't laugh because I felt really bad for the kid. but I mean, yeah, three three Adam Fisher: Not me, I'm sorry. I'll sleep. Ted Turner: hundred and five yards, four touchdowns. he he he did have an interception against Texas State, but you know, at the end of the day, and we're gonna get into it, the narrative for for Texas and Ohio State this weekend, no matter what happens in this game, it's gonna come back to art. It really is. I mean, Adam Fisher: There well. Ted Turner: it came down to it last year. It's gonna come down to it this year. I just think there's no getting around it. It's gonna come down to Arch. Lenore Sellers, I mean, South Carolina looked a little relevant as far as offense is concerned. They had a heartbeat. 19 to 23, 270 yards, three touchdowns. I'd say the quarterback play was really, really good this weekend. And I think the quarterback play will be good and consistent throughout the season. Now, now, Gunnar, let's get into Gunner a little bit because I want to talk about what you saw Gunner. but obviously Gunnar, fifteen to sixteen, two hundred and two yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions, steady eddy, right? Ninety three point seven five completion rate. it's what you expect, it's what should have been done. There was nothing flashy. but like we gotta talk. Like, what do you what do you think has to be like where does where does Gunner stand and what does Gunner have to do to really turn the tables on this offense? And and if we're gonna make this offense really dangerous. How do you feel Gunner has well what do you feel like he's gotta do to do that? Adam Fisher: More of what I saw from him Saturday. I mean, the dude just went out there and looked so smooth and so unbothered by the moment and the atmosphere and I mean I know I know it was Tennessee State. It's not like we were, you know, it was the national championship game or it was a big bowl game or even or win or anything like that. But he was just smooth. Like he just went out there, you know, it's like he was playing backyard ball, he was loose. You know, you could tell that he was really relaxed. Like there would like he felt no pressure. Like he just went out there and he did the damn thing, man. He just was throwing it, he was letting it go. His arm strength looked a little better this year. He looked a little crisper, looked a little sharper, which makes me really happy. he was getting rid of the ball quicker. No, he wasn't just living in the pocket, you know. He was I I'm I was impressed, you know, and I wanna I hope we keep, you know, trending in the same direction. I hope we keep, you know All that stuff just gets better and better and better, man, 'cause he looked good. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I think I think those are spot on. I mean, you look at we talked about it. I mean, it's it's his offense now. He's gonna the playbook's a little bit more wide open. I do think that he I think he took some more shots. I think he the one thing I will tell you that really stood out to me was the fact that he didn't run all day. Like he didn't run all day. Now, I'm not sure if they told him you can't run. Adam Fisher: He didn't have to. Ted Turner: But he didn't run all day. I mean, he looked to to stand the pocket tall. He had a couple of you know, I I think they know if they get him on the run. Him and Stetson were very similar and they like to be out on the run. They feel like they just feel like the game moves a little bit slower to them when they're when they have options like that. And I think that's true. And I think I think we're in a stage of life where the the average pocket passer is is almost it it the percentage is lower now. in in terms of how we're play calling, even in the NFL, right? So I think seeing him be able to get out and really wait and wait and let those progressions happen. I mean, there was a throw that was barely caught by Craig Dandridge, aka is being known as Craig Dangerous now. Adam Fisher: Nice. Ted Turner: he caught a pretty good ball, man. It didn't have a lot of zip on it, but I mean it had enough. I would tell you that ball last year would have floated on. Gunner. And so you can tell his arm strength is a little bit better. I mean, basically what happened was it was a play in bootleg, but you know, Nate kind of kind of missed the block, or maybe I should say took a bad angle. And so the the blitz kind of got to Gunner, but it was really cool to see him not just give up. Like that would have been last year. That would have been a play where he goes, Okay, I don't have an option. I'm gonna have to tuck and I'm gonna have to make something happen. But his whole mindset was, Okay, I have to see it downfield. And if it happens, it's got to happen downfield. And to see him throw that ball off his back leg, and it's always dangerous when you're throwing, you know, off your back leg, but when you're throwing to Craig Dangerous, it kind of balances out, right? Dangerous to dangerous. quote that one. That'll be a good one later Adam Fisher: Yeah. Yep. I know, right? Ted Turner: on. but anyways, so I mean, I think I think all in all, this is his offense. He's kind of gonna be the general of this. There's no question about QB one. There's there, there's still probably a little bit of fight at QB two. I don't think fish that I mean, I don't I I can't remember the last time that I saw three quarterbacks throw for touchdowns in a in a in a UGA game in a regular season game. I mean, can you? I don't I don't remember it at all in the history. So that was wild to see, but Adam Fisher: Nope, nope, nope. I was hoping Hezekiah would get him one. Ted Turner: yeah, I agree. but you know, all in all, I think the conversation is, you know, and the big bold letters I have around this is can he consistency can he consistently make the right decision and keep Georgia's offense efficient. But to add to that is I think can he keep can he be enough efficient and enough explosive to keep Georgia's offense unpredictable. I think that's even an extra statement is how unpredictable can he make us this year? Because we all know two years ago with when we could not run the football to save our life, you know, It was a different dynamic of how defensive played us against Carson Bake, which in turn ended up being the downfall of why you know we didn't really make it as far as we wanted to that year. Fast forward, we wanted to, you know, we wanted to run the ball, we wanted to be good against the run. We did improve that. But I do, I mean, I I think you can agree with this. There were times where I felt like some of those SEC teams were like, Hey, come on, Gunner, you gotta win this game. We we're you're gonna win this game. Alabama played cover zero for seventy five, eighty percent of the game. And K Woman's gonna do it again. Like he's gonna play cover zero and he's gonna blitz until Gunnar Stockton can show him that if you do that, I'm gonna make you pay. I think this year, I think this year he can make him pay. but I but I just I feel I think it just kind of helped me feel a little bit more comfortable about where we're at at the quarterback position. Not that I wasn't comfortable with Gunner last year. Just like how are we gonna be as far as when we line up, do we feel like, all right, guys, if we don't run the ball good, this is gonna be a long day. I don't feel that's the same. I feel like when you spread the ball around to fifteen different players, I feel confident that we're gonna be able to not just line up and go, I pray we can run the ball today. Or I pray that, you know, the Zac the Zach Branch can catch a couple of bubble screens and make chicken salad out of chicken crap, you know? so anyways, Western Kentucky, man. Western Kentucky comes in the twelve forty five game this Saturday. It's a whiteout, right? First, the exciting part of everything to start off with is that, you know, obviously Kirby made an announcement that if we can get Glory Glory to X amount of subscriptions, then I'll go out there and we'll wear these white uniforms that we allow some of the recruits to put on when they come here. They're pretty cool. Next thing you know, Glory Glory blows it out of the water and Kirby Adam Fisher: Ha ha ha. Ted Turner: has to come clean with his bet. And so this has been something that's Adam Fisher: I love that. Ted Turner: kind of cool because they've strategized behind it. They're selling a lot of stuff on Fanatics and through the bookstore and everything, a lot of white polos and white t-shirts. And basically on Saturday, you're a little bit you're gonna be feel little bit weird if you're wearing black or you're wearing red. So wear white. It's a 1245 game. heat's gonna be an issue. fish right off the bat for our viewers. this will be a much better team as far as Tennessee State is concerned. I'm not saying it's going to be an in like, you know, Western Kentucky comes in here with this outright opportunity and on paper to beat Georgia, but I think they come in. This is a much better team than Tennessee State is going to see. What like what do you think as far as the time of day? I mean, we got three, we got well, one more. We got two noon kickoffs essentially the next two weeks. 1245 here. We got to go to Arkansas. and technically kick off. I don't know if the time changes there. Are they eleven there technically them their time? Adam Fisher: Yeah, yeah. Ted Turner: so early kicks the next two weeks. But you know, first off, how excited are you for the whiteout? What do you think about the kick times? What are some early things with Western Kentucky that you want to share? Adam Fisher: Dude, what's a white out? We're not Penn State. No. I I love it, dude. I love it. Like I'm glad that we're embracing it and we can wear some of these awesome uniform combinations that you see, you know, the recruits wearing and everything, like you mentioned. I I'm here for it. And we almost, almost 'cause when we were shopping around tickets, you know, to go to the Auburn game, we almost we looked at this game because we had learned that it was a whiteout and you know We could get club level tickets to that game for about the same price as you can get for where we're actually sitting at the Albert. We we thought about it, dude. We were we we almost did. we were close. But man, it's gonna be a great game to be at. I can't imagine. All those fans incredibly lucky because this is something that we never do. This is something we've never done. We've worn black, but that's it. We've never gone away from the black you know, the black jerseys about as fancy as we've ever gone. but Western Kentucky, you know, man, they're gonna be a little bit better than Tennessee State. I still expect us to dominate the game. I want to see us not throttle back. I want to see us floor it and just still, you know, go out there with reckless abandon and just put some points on the board, man, and make the game be over early. You know, let our depths get some playing time like we did last week. You know, if we could see if four quarterbacks play again this week, you'll know it was a good a good day. Ted Turner: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. I mean, and and I usually no disrespect to Western Kentucky. I usually kind of pull some players out of the mix and kind of go into that, but I think our listeners would more just appreciate a overall blimp view. And so, Western Kentucky obviously comes to Sanford Stadium. They lost to Nevada last week, forty nine fourteen. They gave up three hundred and twenty five rushing three hundred and twenty three rushing yards to Nevada last week. Adam Fisher: Ooh. Nate's about to get three more. Ted Turner: Yeah, that's a matchup that, you know, obviously Georgia's probably looking to exploit very clearly. Adam Fisher: yeah. Ted Turner: so I think some of the main things that we really want to look at is obviously can can can Georgia run the ball consistently? Can they continue that domination in the trenches with the run game? man, it was just really great to see some of the blocking. I mean, Zakai is as advertised. Drew Bobo looked really good. Ernest Green looked really good. I saw some second tier folks. Something I saw and I and I want to say I can't remember if this was Michael Unai or not. I think it was, but I saw a clip where it was it was a I think the defensive tackle bailed or something. It was a stunt. So Unai was left there with nobody. And it and the quote is is like if you can't do work, go find work, right? And he goes over and he double teams the D end with the with the left tackle that I think at that time was Eneke Oboko. And dude, they ran him to the ground. Like they I felt sorry for that end, man. Because he's like the whole quote was if you can't find work, go go do work. Or if you can't do work, go find work. But like it was just the offensive line was just really fun to watch. Phil Raucher obviously is making an impact on that line. I'm seeing just a little bit more. Hungriness, aggressiveness by the aggressiveness by the line. Something I didn't see out of Stacey Sures, just to be honest with you. Like I think this line has taken a jump under Adam Fisher: Well, Ted Turner: Phil Rousher full time. He had a little bit more of the reins last year. That's why he saw a little bit of improvement. And I think kind of Kirby was like, what can we, what kind of improvement can we have if we give Rousher the whole, you know, the whole car, right? I think the lines looked looked really, really good. So can we run the ball? I think, you know, the big things we want to do, and I think you would agree with this, is like, we wanna we wanna go in there. We want to assort us assert the dominance. Clean game. I think we want to protect the football. I think we want to improve on special teams. Clean up penalties, because there were some penalties that were a little bit weird. Get the young players some reps and get out healthy. I I just think that's kind of the mantra of what we need to know on against Western Kentucky. because it's gonna be another uncomfortable game as far as the part of the day. I don't know what the weather's gonna be like. but it definitely on this past Saturday for a lot of people that were at that game said it was not fun. those triple digits had a lot of people sitting in the concourses and, you know, underneath covering and things that there weren't a lot of people in their seats. and I don't know what they thought. I don't know if they thought that the sun would just go away. I mean, either you're there or you're not, right? so I just Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: think that's the that's the biggest thing that needs to be kind of accomplished to Western Kentucky. we're gonna pick it here in a second. So obviously, that's something to look at. Matter of fact, I think I think I think it's time we can go in and we can start. Give us a little extra time. we're not picking 15 games this week because some of these SEC teams are gonna play against each other, and some of these teams are gonna play other teams. But without any further ado, fish, let's hop in and let's pick these games. This is a sneaky good week of of college football. first game I got is Adam Fisher: I agree. Ted Turner: is a sneaky game, man. Sneaky game. Twelve o'clock, ABC, number 10. Tech CM is undefeated, one and okay. With their d with their win last week is got Arizona State coming to town, right? if anybody remembers Connor Boley, Cutter Bole, I think is his name from from Kentucky last year as the starting quarterback for Arizona State. this is not gonna be this, I mean, I don't think that Texanum can overlook Arizona State. I know it's Kyle Field on it's an early kick though. Arizona State's obviously coming to town from a little ways away. This is gonna be a really tough environment for them to play in with the twelfth man. But I think this is a game that you know, you gotta you gotta watch out for. I mean, regardless of who lined up across from him, Boley threw for three hundred three hundred eighty seven yards and six TDs last week. So this is not an overlooked game for Texas AM, but Texas AM is fourteen and a half as of right now. I think that's a little heavy, but curious what you think. Who do you got in this game, Fish? Adam Fisher: Give me A and but I'm gonna go by ten. Ted Turner: Okay. I like it. Adam Fisher: I mean I think they still win not easily, but I think I think ten sounds good. Ten sounds about right. Ted Turner: I think you could see AM get pressed a little bit in this game. I mean, I think you could kind of give them a glimpse of like, if you press AM, what are they going to go to? How are they going to, how are they going to react to it, right? I like Texas AM in this game. I'm I'm curious to see if if Texas AM gets exposed in their secondary. this is this is a this is a really good. I mean, I guess we just shoot, we just we just show that Bole and Kentucky's offense. was abysmal. He goes out to k the Dillingham's offense. He throws for six T Ds. Is that more T D's than he had the entire year last year? I mean, maybe. Adam Fisher: I think so. Ted Turner: I agree. I got Texas AM in this game. I think it's closer than fourteen and a half. I'm gonna go even closer. I'm gonna say maybe like a couple of field goals. Maybe they have a chance towards the end to like make something happen and then like AM gets it back, goes, seals the deal, maybe six points, somewhere around that, that notion. 330, man, Mississippi State CBS. This is a Big Ten SEC showdown. Mississippi State heads up to Minnesota, to play PJ Fleck and the boys. man, taking that seven hundred and sixty-eight yards of of offense. This is a seventy-four degree kind of playing field, which the, you know, for Mississippi State, this will be like a dream, right? To play in seventy-four degrees. but Crazy to see Anthony Evans last week, former Georgia guy, seven receptions, 118 yards, and a T D. I still look back at that one right there. I shake my head on, I wish we could have kept. but right now Minnesota's got a point and a half. Who you got, Fish? Adam Fisher: Ooh. No, I think Mississippi's gonna gonna go up there and prove a point, but I don't think it's gonna be easy. I think it's gonna be super close. Maybe a field goal separates them. I like PJ Fleck, man. I like the tie. You know, like he I I don't know what it is, but they always seem to upset big teams, you know, win the big game, you know, up there when they have a home game. j not all the time, but you know, they they they play well. They always play well. And you're gonna get a good game from But Mississippi State, I think, edges them by a field goal. Ted Turner: I like Mississippi as well. I think I think it's hard for Minnesota to really it's gonna come down to defenses, right? I Zach Arnett needs to be on display. I need to see what this Zach Arnett defense is made up because it's gonna tell the story of how how well Mississippi does. I'm I'm buying them a little more in the beginning of the year, but not yet. Not so fast. I mean, I think you know, you gotta see how are they gonna look against a Minnesota team. This is a strong, big. I mean, these are the wood chopping Minnesota boys from, you know, in the trenches. So, I mean, it's gonna be a test for Mississippi State, but I think it's gonna be a test for Minnesota in the area of, you know, you got SEC wide receivers. They're faster. Tomario Taylor's got a really good arm. it's gonna it's gonna expose some things. I think Mississippi State can win this game. This is gonna be a very good game. It's gonna be very close. Give me Mississippi State. I think they I think they skirt it out by like a field goal. Field goal or like that awkward score where it's like four points because a field goal threw it off earlier in the game. So I dig that. 415 SEC Network. Vanderbilt gets Delaware. another game that I think Vanderbilt needs to win because if you don't, I don't know if there's a lot of wins in their in their on their horizon this year. Vanderbilt comes in as a 21 point favorite against Delaware. fish, who you got in this game? Adam Fisher: Dude, did you hear that Vanderbilt was booing their starting quarterback because they wanted to see Jared Curtis when he came out to start for halftime? He got booed. Ted Turner: I wouldn't doubt it. I I really wouldn't. Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: I I I think if if I'm I would just say this. I it's it's not the decision. I mean, Clark Lee is a good coach, but I think this is a mistake. I think you know, you gotta be careful. If this year's gonna be a a a down year anyway, I think you give every rep you possibly can to your future quarterback at Jerry Curtis. If he's the guy. I mean, you paid like you Adam Fisher: Yeah. Ted Turner: paid money like he was the guy. So go out and let that guy ball out, you know? but Adam Fisher: Exactly. Yeah. Ted Turner: yeah, no, I wouldn't surprise if I did not hear. Adam Fisher: Yeah. Well, Vandy about twenty. Ted Turner: Does not cover. 415, man. This is this is going to be a doozy. Like the thing that stands out to me is like the Delaware quarterback is no, like, he's no pushover. And I mean, Vanderbilt's defense is not extraordinary. Like they're missing a lot of pieces from the last two years. So it wouldn't, it wouldn't doubt me that this game's sloppy at the beginning. Matter of fact, my call will be that maybe, just maybe. They lay an egg at the quarterback position and and this is where Curtis kind of takes his step. This is where he takes the step. Maybe the offense looks a little more fluid under him. Maybe that's maybe that's part of the whole thing, man. It's like, hey, let's let's make sure this kid understands that he's gotta earn that position. You know, and maybe they wanna see him rise above that. So I can see that happen. But I I don't think Vandy covers just 'cause they didn't cover last week against Austin Pete. So you know, I I'm with you on that. Sorry about that. 530. E SEC Network, Florida, and the 2 and 0 Campbell. what is the Campbell? The Campbell Camels? It's a Camel, bro. It's a Camel. I'm looking at it right now. I don't know if that's what the what they're I know if that's the actual mascot. But yo, this spread is crazy. Usually you would see ESPN just kind of not pronounce the spread, but they did it. So Florida's favored by 49 a half. I've never seen the Adam Fisher: Your lower. Ted Turner: tie of a spree. 49 and a half point. I usually see like a little NA. Like, we don't do this. We don't call this spread. Adam Fisher: Not available. Yep. Ted Turner: Not available, right? the thing that's the shocker is, you know, Jaden Baugh, 14 carries, 160 yards last week, three TDs. but can't, but you know, I think this guy I think this kid's name is Sean Jones from Campbell, 11 receptions, 175 yards and a T D so far this year. the quarterback from Campbell, 673 yards and two gains, four TDs. I'm not saying that they're gonna go 3 0. It's at the swamp. It's 5 30. It's fine. It won't be that hot. who do you got this game, Fish? Adam Fisher: Gimme Florida. I don't know if they'll cover. They might. I mean we won by Ted Turner: That's a lot, bro. Adam Fisher: sixty last week, so who knows? Ted Turner: W you wouldn't have bet that though, right? Adam Fisher: No. Well I don't know. No, I said seventy-two to three, so I I I would have. I I had it last week. I was clipped. Ted Turner: You're close, man. I was watching it. I was like, man, he's probably sitting there going, why didn't I play these numbers? yeah, I got right. Adam Fisher: You would never hear the end of it if they had. Ted Turner: Yeah, I got South Carolina. Man, I think they win easy, easy and big. LSU 730, SEC Network, Louisiana Tech rolls in LSU's 35 and a half point favorites. they will be playing no NFL player. obviously Levitt comes in. big statistic for eleven is the carries, the yards. he had a hundred and thirteen yards of rushing last week, two T Ds. who you got this game fish thirty five and a half going for LHG. Adam Fisher: Give me L S who and they probably do cover. Ted Turner: Yeah. I got LSU in this one. This is big. This is easy. You they f I think they finally get a chance to see some of the backups in here. Although I don't know. Maybe Lane just has this motive of like he needs to he needs to be careful. He's got six games coming up that he needs he needs to be helpful for. There they're they're not gonna be any more Clemson and Louisiana Tech after this week. So obviously the big game next week. LSU old miss. looking forward to that one. seven forty five, Charlotte. Comes goes into Hottie Toddyville, Ole Miss. Ole Miss 47.5 point favorites. Fish, who you got in this game? Adam Fisher: gimme omus about forty two. Ted Turner: Yeah, I like Ole Miss. Adam Fisher: Almost cover. Ted Turner: I think I think Ole Miss needs to really use this game to dial in, getting the offense, to just playing on time. Just put just playing on time. And that is one thing that Lane Kiffin, the the the difference I saw in the offense. If we're trying to mimic a Lane Kiffin offense, which I think we are, the difference I saw was is they just didn't, they they weren't allowed to play on time a lot. He was he was all about first downs, he was about getting the ball. he wanted to go fast, and I just think we just didn't get ahead of that. And that was something that I I saw was different. I like Ole Miss not calling a score. it'll be hard to cover. so give me old miss. 745. Southern Miss goes into Auburn. Auburn's at home, first home game of the year. Golish looking for redemption from what some would call maybe he's a little bit out of his league from last week. From from not being able to put away a Baylor team that had a quarterback with one leg. Auburn thirty three and a half point favorites. Who you got this game? Adam Fisher: Give me Auburn, but they don't cover. Ted Turner: Yeah. You I think what you wanna see this Saturday is is you kinda wanna see this offense go loose, right? You wanna see Brown throwing the ball all over. You wanna see the rushing game being unstoppable. You wanna see what Alex Golish was supposed to bring to this offense. So I think if you see that, there's gonna be a lot of points up there, but I agree. Thirty three and a half coming off that showing last week would be a hard, hard ask. So who we got next? Who we next? we got 330. this is a big game, man. Alabama, number 12 Alabama heads into Kroger Field, Kentucky. Biggest stats is as Minchie and Minchy threw for over 301 yards. Keelan Russell almost encompassed 100 yards rushing. Brian Coleman Williams had five receptions for 130 yards. who you got this game fishing and and what do you think is gonna be like what do you think is gonna be the difference maker? Adam Fisher: I think quarterback play and I think depending on what Alabama gets out of their first year starter is gonna have a lot to do with how that game ends. I think they win. but whether it's by a touchdown or two touchdowns is all about how that guy can adapt and acclimate himself to, you know, starting his first SEC game. Ted Turner: Yeah, I totally agree. I I think I think I got Bama winning. I think this is closer. This is closer. This is gonna I think what this shows the world is is where Alabama's gonna be human this year. can they run the football against the defense that's gonna better than Eastern Carol East Carolina? Keelan Russell, I think, you know, Will Stein's he's he's no rookie. He is a rookie coach for to be a head coach, but but I think his mindset is built around He's been he's been around an elite coach for a few years with Dan Lanning, and he won't be unprepared. I think the defense will be ready. I think Keelan Russell's gonna have to do some things that are out of his comfort zone to win this game. And I think Alabama's defense, if they if they have as many busts as they had against East Carolina, the game could be interesting. I'm not counting Kentucky out, but I am saying I still think Alabama has enough to get it done. So give me Alabama. I definitely think Alabama does not cover though. I don't like that ten and a half at all. I think it's single digit win either way that you either way that you encompass it. Do we pick South Carolina? We did not. Seven o'clock, SEC network Towson rolls into South Carolina. Sandman, this is another one for Shane Beamer. They gotta win this, right? Because, you know, as as as it looks later in the year and the schedule later on the year, it could get really rough. so you gotta put this on the books. Forty three and a half point favorites. Who do you got in this game, Fish? Adam Fisher: Set alert. No, I'm just kidding. South Carolina. Ted Turner: You want to, right? You want to. Townsend O and two. Adam Fisher: I want to, but now I'm not gonna. Ted Turner: That that wouldn't be an upset, man. That would be job board alert. You're gonna see you're gonna see somebody on the job boards very soon. Ten fifteen ESPN No, I Adam Fisher: I'll tell you what, Mike Norvell won't last the season. Sorry. Ted Turner: don't think you will either. I I I don't I I I think Florida State's already looking for their coach behind the scenes. ten fifteen late night game. Not a lot of people are gonna be watching this game, but I will. Arkansas heading into Utah is gonna be a good game, man. This is a test for Arkansas. Arkansas and silver silverback, Silverstein. If he wants to put Arkansas on the map, he's gonna have to do it here. the expectations, Winningham, right, Silverback. 12 and a half point favorites Adam Fisher: I think Silverback is Ted Turner: is Utah. Silverfield, Silver Fox. Silverman, saving Silverman. That was the movie. Twelve and a half Adam Fisher: There go. Silverfox. There you go. Ted Turner: for Utah. Who you got this game, Fish? Adam Fisher: I I will be staying up late to watch this game. One because I just I watch Pac twelve, Pac twelve after dark. every week. but Arkansas who we play after, you know, that's how we play next week. So I'm definitely interested. I hope our I for Grant's sake, I hope Arkansas wins. I hope they get the dub. Ted Turner: Yeah, no chance. No chance, man. Utah, Utah's still very competitive. it's in Utah. Arkansas, man. Man. I mean, they need to. I just don't see Arkansas getting out of this cellar unless they I mean, thank God they won last week. But I don't know if this is going to be good for them at Utah. Now, if they go out there and shock the world, then maybe Silver Fox was right. Maybe it was maybe the whole time it was like, you know. We we just had to kind of get the cobwebs out. I I don't buy it. I think Utah wins. I think Utah probably covers, to be honest with you. for Grant's sake, yeah, I agree. Grant, if you're listening to us, I wish you the best, but but be ready for the worst. eight o'clock Fox Friday, Saturday, September eleventh. Kansas, Missouri rolls into Kansas. Kansas is confident about this game, man. Kansas is really confident about this game. Noah Hardy this game. this is the first test on the road for Missouri. who you got this game fish Missouri's Missouri's got six and a half right. I'm sorry, five and a half. It was six and a half literally this morning. Adam Fisher: What what is up with these rivalry games that usually happen in November? Happening in September, bro. you had the Apple Cup last week. Like I looked at it, I thought I was watching an old Ted Turner: They're getting them out of the way. Adam Fisher: game. I thought I was watching a game from last year. Dude, but anyway Ted Turner: They don't wanna give any excuse to lose to lose a game late in the season and if if if if they're playoff bound. I I I really feel like they're just trying to still have but not not that an effect, you know, playoff possibilities. I guess. Adam Fisher: Yeah. Yeah. I get it. I get it. but anyway, Gimme Missouri. but it's gonna it's gonna be close. But like I said, early season, this is a big rivalry game for them, man. This is like their their rival. It's not like Missouri State or anybody. It's it's Kansas, Missouri, like that's it. so wow. gimme give me Missouri by touching them. Ted Turner: Yeah, man. Austin Simmons on the road, big test. this is a defense that doesn't have a lot of continuity and a lot of familiarity together playing. They got to go on the road. It's it's a rivalry type thing. This is for the the there's a there's some kind of cup involved with this. I don't know what it is. I really want to call upset alert on this man. I think if it was Ahmad Hardy, it would be I I think Missouri would be a ten point favorite. I'm gonna call upset alert on this one though. I think Kansas can pull it off at home. It's an awkward night of the week. I think this defense has got to go on the road and play against a Kansas team. And I I'm gonna I'm gonna say Kansas wins this game. I think Kansas wins and I think it's by like a touchdown, man. Like I just I I have a a gut feeling about this one. Skill players are not a question for Kansas. Quarterback play is, but if but if Austin Simmons goes in and takes care of business Defense does as as expected. They can come together. It it'll be fine. but I I'm calling up I I feel good about Kansas. I had a lot of Missouri Adam Fisher: Thank you. Ted Turner: haters last night in the chats, as you can see. Michigan rolls, I'm sorry, Oklahoma rolls into Michigan ranked number eleven, twelve o'clock on Fox. OU. OU is five and a half point favorites. After last week, I'd honestly put them about seven and a half point favorites. Who do you got in this game, Fish? Adam Fisher: So so what if what if Michigan just wasn't ready last week? And what if they come out and they're a completely different team this week? That's not gonna happen. Bryce Ted Turner: That's a good thing for Michigan. Adam Fisher: Bryce Underwood is garbage. gimme gimme Oklahoma by seventeen. In Ann Arbor. Not Ted Turner: Yeah, no man, that's Adam Fisher: afraid. Ted Turner: I agree with that. Not gonna happen, dude. Oklahoma puts that Oklahoma puts that junk out, lets them know that Western Michigan probably should have beat it could be bad. I mean, it really could be. I if if Adam Fisher: Did beat them. Did beat them. Ted Turner: Oklahoma can just get past the big house and the hype and the hoorah and don't play Adam Fisher: they will. Ted Turner: down to them, right? Don't play down to I mean, it's a first year coach. There's enough drama going on in Michigan right now to start a soap opera. You know, as Ann Arbor turns. I don't know. I mean, call it what you want. the big game, but not Adam Fisher: As the big house turns. Ted Turner: right, as the big house turns, why not? Yeah, give me yeah, give me Oklahoma big. the the second biggest game, but to a lot of people the biggest game. 'cause we never pick Georgia be we always picked Georgia last. So seven thirty PM ABC, Ohio State heads to Texas. This'll be college game day down in Man, this is this is this is a this is a big game, man. This is a big game for the Big Ten the SEC, but it's even bigger to see where is really Texas at, right? Where are these two teams really at? And are we gonna see it? Right. I'm gonna go ahead and tell you from me, I I I like I like Ohio State in this game, and I'll tell you why. I just always look at it and I go, Sarkeesia's gonna have to call a game. And regardless of Cam Coleman, Hollywood Smothers, too deep at running back, Arch, all these things. I just saw like a a nervous offense last year. And I think Sarkeesian, I don't think he can get him past that, man. Big games have not been his forte. I'm calling it, it's not an upset. Give me Ohio. I don't want to call it like this, but I got Ohio State. Who you got? Adam Fisher: Me too. I I I completely agree with everything you said, man. Texas loses these kinds of games, it seems like to me. and Ohio State wins these games normally. I don't know man. I I don't think Texas has what it takes. I think I think it's gonna be a sloppy game from Texas. I think they're gonna go out there and underperform and Ohio State's gonna win big. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. And and and if not, I mean, Texas is as a point and half. I think that's lo that that's cra I mean, if I'm Vegas, man, I'm going, I'm feeling a little bit uneasy about this one. I just think when you look at Sarkeesian and how the offense has digressed, they gave up three hundred plus yards of total offense to Texas State at home. I mean, what is Ohio State going to put up on, right? I think Adam Fisher: Exactly. Ted Turner: if you give that up against Ohio State, that means you have to go throw for throw with Julian Saiyan. And the running game has to be, and this is not, I mean, this is this whole NIL era in college football, you can't just if you don't have reverses and you're not going to hit the edge with some of these running plays and creativity, there's no really lining up against good teams anymore and being able to just go, we're to run head on with you. Too much talent on both sides of the ball for these teams. So I I feel like Once again, Texas hasn't got there yet. They're just, they, they, they refuse to get there, in my opinion. But but yeah, so final game of the the the I'm sorry, we forgot one. number number 18, Tennessee heads into Georgia Tech. seven o'clock ESPN. Interesting game. Not a really great showing by Georgia Tech last week. Couldn't run the football, Adam Fisher: No. Ted Turner: which is unbrent key like. but for time's sake, for me. Fish, I mean, I think this is an easy win by Tennessee. I think Faison Brandon, Tennessee, Jim Knowles. There's nothing com there's nothing outwardly scary about playing at Bobby Dodd. So give me give me Tennessee and I think Adam Fisher: Not anymore. No. Ted Turner: Tennessee covers. who do you got, Fish? Adam Fisher: I agree. Tennessee. Ted Turner: Tennessee. The game of the week, Georgia, Western Kentucky, whiteout, twelve forty-five. Be our last pick of the night. fish, we talked about what we want to see. We've said everything about it. We we can hammer this to death, but I think we we say it again. The five things we want to see. We want a clean football game, improvement on penalties. would love to see more explosiveness. running the football is gonna be the dynamic that helps us get to the win. Obviously, after seeing them give up three hundred yards to Nevada. so you know, whiteout, exciting. Georgia's getting forty and a half. who you got in this game, Fish? Adam Fisher: Gimme Georgia and I'm gonna say forty nine to three. Ted Turner: I like it. Another three point effort. I got I got Western Kentucky being able to scrounge up another field goal somewhere, maybe six. but I think that I think that cusp is fifty again. but I also think if if if Georgia likes to get into the run during this game and really wants to see how they can drag it out, you may see that. So that might be the only thing that keeps us from getting up into the fifties. But I'd definitely say we're in the in the forties. stretching into the fifties, I think I think the big the big numbers, I think defense allows six or less. I really do. I feel good about that. a little bit cooler of a day. Eighty-two degrees is what's on on on the dock. That's good to see. that was an anomaly, man, that craziness. But should be a good game, man. It'll be interesting to see the whiteout, interesting to see a little bit cooler day where fans are out. Definitely be cooler. You don't have to wear black, you don't have to wear red. So it should pan out to be a great day, man. It's gonna be a great day of college football. Excited. For week two. Final thoughts tonight, Fish. Adam Fisher: well, yeah, as always, you know, I'm excited about, you know, Georgia. I wanna see them go out there, I wanna see them dominate, I wanna see r you know, control the game and all facets, and we gotta clean up those stupid penalties. That's one thing that I s that stuck with me. And where did PJ Dean come from? How have we not talked about him? I Ted Turner: Yeah. Out of Yeah, out of nowhere, man. 'Cause we don't get to get into practice a lot. Adam Fisher: I mean like we have I mean we may have mentioned his name once or twice talking about depth, but I don't think we ever really like said, we expect big things from him this year. Man had two sacks Saturday. That's more than half our defense had all of last year. Ted Turner: I agree. I totally agree. Adam Fisher: Ha ha. Ted Turner: PJ Dean is I think we got a few players like that. I just don't know if they've completely shown themselves yet. I mean, we didn't see a lot of Chase Linton. We held him out. there was really no concern to have him in there. But it's gonna be a good weekend, man. Looking forward to another great weekend of college football. Excited. after this weekend we get into SEC play, but we will not overlook it, man. Some good night games, some good day games. It'll be a really good slate. We were excited last week for college football to be back. I think we're excited this week to see some really good games on tap. Sneak a good week for the SEC. Fish has been fun, man.
