It's still welcome everybody. Welcome to this week's edition. This is a Real
0:20
DOES Show episode number seven hundred and thirty nine from April eleven, twenty twenty
0:25
four. This is your wit Wrestleming forty weekend recap and review edition of as
0:32
R Team You. I am one after the show, I am Jack Peck
0:36
joined every single week my past literally got try Franklin, Doctor Trey. We
0:41
survived wrestling forty weekend. My friend, you say that, but there's still
0:46
time I got. It's barely. I feel like I have a hangover,
0:52
Like literally, like when you're introducing this show, I was like, oh,
0:55
dear gut, how loud does he say that? So it does feel
0:58
a little bit like back in my early twenties, coming in off an all
1:03
weekend bender, trying to go to work on Monday. But hey, it
1:06
was worth it. The ride was enjoyable, and yeah, I got the
1:10
t shirt you sent me. It says I survived wrestlmingia a forty weekend.
1:14
Here's the thing, pomp and circumstance. It's like, it's a very enjoyable
1:19
weekend. But I legitimately so you and I are recording this Wednesday night as
1:23
aw Dynamite is airing. I legitimately got caught up on professional wrestling earlier this
1:27
evening on Wednesday. It is not and you are not caught up yet,
1:34
right, No, I actually had just started Monday Night Raw made it throughout
1:38
the first two segments. It's tough. I mean, I did the math.
1:42
It's I mean, what are we looking at here? So two hours
1:45
of SmackDown, three hours of Hall of Fame, four hours of Standing the
1:51
Liver. So we're at nine hours now, like six hours of WrestleMania,
1:57
So what are we at? Fifteen at that point, then another six the
2:00
next day. That's twenty one if you're counting. I mean I watched pre
2:06
shows for every one of these shows Monday Night Raw three hours. That's twenty
2:08
four hours smacked or annex after Standing Deliver, that's twenty six hours. And
2:15
that's not even counting the one hour of Rampage twenty seven, two hours of
2:19
Collision twenty nine that I also got under my belt. And oh, by
2:23
the way, I watched one hour of the Slammy Awards on Peacock. That's
2:28
thirty hours a professional wrestling I have watched since we last sat down and recorded
2:31
last week's edition of SRTU. Obviously, some of that stuff is not part
2:35
of Wrestling a Weekend A decent about ninety percent of it is. By the
2:38
way, if you want to see awkwardness, go watch the Slamming Awards on
2:42
Peacock. I highly recommend it. Very awkward. I mean, technology was
2:46
failing them and it was very very noticeable. Yeah, it's a lot of
2:51
wrestling, Doctor Trey. I love wrestling, but shit, man, it's
2:55
it's a lot. It's hard to be a wrestling fan this weekend. Yeah,
3:00
it's hard, but it's hard physically. It's physically and and and maybe
3:06
emotionally taxing. Uh. But this is this is like it's like Christmas on
3:12
steroids for wrestling fans. It's like you get all the addresses. It's literally
3:16
like the the adrenaline rush and then once the adrenaline that crash that comes afterwards.
3:23
It's like you know, you twist your ankle in a in a rec
3:27
league softball game, but you finish the game, but the next day you
3:29
can barely walk and you're like, how about hell, why is this hurting
3:31
so bad? Like Lugimi, I got a cramp. I have not slept
3:36
that well, this weekend, I've got about twelve hours of sleep since Saturday
3:39
nights and I got a cramp in my cap in the middle of the night.
3:44
This morning. I woke up could barely move and that's like my brain
3:49
feels like that now, Like I consumed so much wrestling, and in the
3:53
process of consuming it, it was great, but now my brain is just
3:58
like, nope, we're done, tap out, throwing the towel. Let's
4:01
just shut it down. So I've already made I already told the wife and
4:04
the kids. I'm like, as soon as the podcast is over, i
4:08
am going to bed. Yeah, I don't blame you. It's tough,
4:13
you know, and I want to kind of get this out of the way
4:15
now. I felt like with this past WrestleMania weekend, and I enjoyed all
4:20
the shows, we'll get into it a little bit knee deeper than we are
4:25
right now. I just have to say that I thought how exhausting everything was
4:30
in the sense of like staying awake and watching it. I felt like it
4:34
took away a little bit as from me being a viewer all weekend long and
4:38
like having those emotional moments that you would have during a wrestling match or that
4:43
connection that you have would have to a wrestling match, and it's I don't
4:48
know. I felt like it kind of took away from it a little bit.
4:50
Did you did you watch everything live? Or are you like what?
4:56
Like what did you watch live? And what are you binging? So?
4:58
I watched SmackDown, Hall of Fame Live, Stand and Deliver live Night one
5:04
live. I was a little bit behind on Night one because I actually had
5:10
to leave at some point in the middle of it for about forty minutes.
5:13
Night two, I watched live Slammys. I watched on Replay, Binge watch
5:18
Raw. I watched on Binge watch NXC, Binge Watch Rampage Collision, Binge
5:24
Wash, Slammys, Binge watch so like everything from about Friday to Sunday.
5:30
I watched live during the weekend itself. Yes, I wonder, like for
5:34
how we consume it if that's kind of it, like what it is.
5:38
I mean, I don't know who watched everything live and then, but I
5:43
mean, how do you go from watching SmackDown and the Slammies live? I
5:47
mean asking the Hall of Fame live because that didn't end until after midnight.
5:51
It was uh, I think it was close to one am. Yeah,
5:56
it was because I think the Rock said something. Yeah, because then one
6:00
out Yeah, to turn around and jump up in the morning to watch Stand
6:03
and Deliver, to then shut it back down for you know, shut your
6:08
emotions back down for five hours, six hours they camped yourself back up for
6:13
WrestleMania Night one. I mean that's that's taxing in itself. I mean that's
6:16
a lot. I mean it's either that's why we kind of like we did
6:20
three hour like we we we. I miss Night one because I had Rocket
6:25
City, So I watched Night one Sunday night, came back. Couldn't watch
6:31
Night two Monday night because the wife was at work and she told me I
6:34
wasn't allowed to watch it until she got home. So we binge watched.
6:38
I watched Standing Deliver and uh something else I watched I think might have been
6:45
No. I watched I watched The Hall of Fame and uh, Stand and
6:47
Deliver Monday while I was at work, and then Tuesday last night, we
6:53
finished up WrestleMania and then we were watching Raw. So it's I think it
6:58
kind of depends on how you consume it. Because Jesse, if we try
7:00
to do everything live, you have to kind of amp yourself up, ramp
7:03
yourself back down, back and forth the entire time, since your emotions are
7:08
constantly on this roller coaster, and then your sleep schedules on a roller coaster
7:12
as well. So it's a lot of consumption. And I think now we're
7:15
just like going forward if this is kind of how we're going to be in
7:17
the quarter unquote triple h era, you kind of have to pace yourself and
7:24
be smart on how you can see it, otherwise you get this like WrestleMania
7:28
hangover. Well lost in all this outside of this of our personal work lives,
7:32
Doctor Trey too. From a viewing standpoint, I am a huge Yukon
7:36
men's basketball fan, and I'm sorry. They just had their Final four matchup
7:42
and they just won the national championship on Monday night, so I watched those
7:45
games as well. Yeah, we were watching the the Alabama Yukon game with
7:50
Saturday night during WrestleMania while we were at Rocket City. Yeah. Sorry,
7:55
sorry about that, Doctor Troy. Oh no, no, like I don't
7:59
have. I'm not a diehard college basketball fan by any means. I used
8:03
to be when I was younger. I think I know one player on Alabama's
8:07
keep Okay, that's only because he's a local kid from like where I used
8:11
to live when I first bog to Alabama. Yeah, done of that.
8:13
That's it. Yeah. The thing about WrestleMania Weekend too, is it's not
8:18
this isn't going to stop. I mean, this is going to continue.
8:20
I mean it's it's I mean they had over two hundred one thousand fans ticketed
8:24
fans across everything from Friday to Monday that they were obviously trumpeting and as they
8:30
should, and it's a huge money maker for them, the city that they're
8:33
in, what have you, and it's this huge spectacle. But there are
8:37
some things that definitely need to change. So let's get into it on Friday
8:41
night. And we're not going to cover SmackDown obviously, but the Hall of
8:43
Fame class of twenty twenty four, and I want to get this negative out
8:48
of the way now, but we've already kind of talked about it, so
8:52
it obviously took place after SmackDown went off the air. And I actually really
8:56
enjoy the Hall of Fame coverage that they do because you just see the wrestlers
9:03
and all the personalities that completely shed away their personas on television and just act
9:09
as normal human beings, which is refreshing to see in professional wrestling. And
9:13
I've always enjoyed that the countdown to the Hall of Fame is always kind of
9:16
fun because it's like kind of controlled chaos, and the interviews are very funny
9:22
if you go back and watch them, and it just seems like everybody's having
9:26
a good time. But they need to do something about this. And we've
9:31
been saying this for years. It used to be its own standalone on Saturday
9:35
Night and it would take forever. Well, this past year's ceremony took forever
9:39
again. And I don't want to knock this because this is like obviously lifetime
9:43
achievement awards for every one of these individuals, and I don't want to be
9:48
disrespectful to them. But I saw this on Twitter Doctor Trey, and I
9:52
thought it was a great idea. I think, just don't do SmackDown anymore.
9:56
Do not What is the point of having a go home SmackDown the night
10:00
before Night one of WrestleMania. Have Robbie your last wrestling show, have on
10:05
andre to the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on there, finish your storyline tending into
10:09
WrestleMania and on Friday night, starting at eight o'clock on Fox, you air
10:16
the Hall of Fame Ceremony and it's a two hour show, and at ten
10:20
pm Eastern or wherever you are in the United States your time zone, that
10:24
is when the night is over. And then everybody from the crew, to
10:28
the wrestlers, to the fans and attendance and watching at home can then get
10:33
ready for stands and deliver the next day. That would be my plea to
10:37
w WEE because I think something definitely needs to change, And that's the number
10:41
one thing outside of the stuff the inductions themselves that came out of this one
10:46
is I think everybody across the board felt like this is just not conducive to
10:48
start watching a wrestling show at eight pm Eastern and then the last thing you
10:52
see is the Rock saying good night nearly before one am Eastern. Now I
10:58
did not watch back Down because of this, so I just read about it.
11:03
Now. One of my things that I've always said that they've when they've
11:07
been doing this is like, if you're on SmackDown, you also want to
11:13
be in the crowd for the for the Hall of Fame. So you got
11:16
to wrestle. If you're wrestling on the show, you got to wrestle your
11:18
match, get out of your gear, get showered, get dressed, and
11:22
be ready to go, like already kind of out towards your seat by the
11:26
time the Hall of Fame kicks off. That's a lot on somebody, you
11:30
know. So I'm with you on your idea. I liked when the Hall
11:35
of Fame with its own standalone show because I've always felt like the Hall of
11:37
Fame is like the Galla Ball for WrestleMania weekend, because it's a lot of
11:43
the wrestlers, you know, dressed to the to the nines. They got
11:48
their significant others out there. I mean a lot of these, a lot
11:50
of these, you know, the wives. The wrestlers don't really get to
11:54
be on the road with the guys that much. The WrestleMania weekends the really
11:58
the one time of year or maybe SummerSlam as well, but the one time
12:01
they really get to go out and be with the family. But then this
12:03
is their chance to really dress up, show out, you know, let
12:07
the guys kind of showcase their significant others, or for the ladies showcase their
12:11
significant others. To me, it's just like You're right, like, just
12:16
you know, either pre tape SmackDown on Monday night and air that and then
12:20
into the Hall of Fame or just kind of down. It's like a one
12:22
hour SmackDown and then you know, a two hour Hall of Fame. The
12:26
one thing about going to Netflix that'll be nice is they can structure this differently
12:31
because it doesn't have to you know, they're not dependent upon a live broadcast
12:33
when it goes USA because USA is getting smacked down, Netflix is getting raw.
12:41
The USA is kind of used to this stuff, so you could change
12:43
up how you do things. You know, in twenty twenty five when all
12:48
these contracts get moved around, Yeah, stuff has to change. It just
12:52
does not work. It's a very nice ceremony, you know. And to
12:54
that point, I know you said you didn't watch SmackDown. The final segment
12:58
on SmackDown was with Jay Usso and then you know, fifteen minutes later you
13:01
see him walking out with his son heading out to the Hall of Fame,
13:03
which you know can't be great. So the negative stuff aside, let's just
13:07
go through the Hall of Fame here. Obviously, to me, the big
13:13
point of this all was Paul Hayman's speech. I mean, Paul Hayman's speech
13:18
is going to go down as a top top three of all time, doctor
13:20
Trey. I mean the stuff that he said that I won't repeat here in
13:24
case children are listening is phenomenal. Go out of your way and watch for
13:28
Randy Orton specific reaction to Paul Hayman mentioning something about if you think E.
13:35
CW died in a bankruptcy court, you can suck his blank. Go out
13:41
of your way and check that out on YouTube. I mean, what an
13:43
all time speech, Doctor Trey. And he said he did not write it
13:48
down. I loved it. I thought it was great. Yeah, I've
13:50
already used the cancel line when he said see him, Pun just looked at
13:56
my son and say, well, your dad's got canceled again. And he
13:58
said he said, the only thinking about getting canceled is you can't be canceled
14:01
unless you let people cancel you. And I was like, I'm stealing that.
14:07
So, by the way, wrestling has already gave me two great quotes
14:09
from the week that I'm stealing, like CM Punk's line in his interview where
14:13
he said, yeah, I'd rather choke on greatness than starve on mediocrity.
14:18
I already used that this week. And then that Paul Hayman line about canceling,
14:20
I'm like, just great speech. And he bought props you got.
14:24
I mean, anytime somebody brings props to their Hall of Fame speech, I
14:28
gotta give hikudo. I love that. I didn't write any this down,
14:31
but then he brought a box full of props, so there was some stuff
14:35
that least planned, you know. And then of course I think the line
14:39
about I think it's time for Stephanie to have men she married the wrong Paul
14:43
was a great line as well. So yeah, just oft and often speech
14:46
in the Philadelphia crowd super into it. I did wonder about the placement of
14:52
him going first, because he was arguably the headliner, but then again,
14:56
uh, he had a very big night the next night, so they'd probably
15:00
need some rest. Clearly they didn't want the fans fall asleep during that one.
15:03
And I just want to add here, I'm not a big fan of
15:07
storyline stuff taking place during the Hall of Fame ceremony. The Muhammad Ali induction,
15:13
I got Lannie Ali giving the rock the People's Championship belt was very strange
15:18
to me, And I also felt like, and this could have been rushed
15:22
because Rock wanted to go home and get everybody home, or w Fishers wanted
15:26
to get everybody home. But I felt like the Rock didn't get an opportunity
15:30
to really talk about his grandmother going into the Hall of Fame and spent you
15:33
know, like twenty five percent of it talk about his match the next night
15:35
with Cody Rhoades. So I would prefer storyline stuff to stay out of the
15:41
Hall of Fame. I think that's like the one time that fans wrestlers should
15:45
all let their guard down and just enjoy what's taking place. Yeah, and
15:48
then also the fact that, like when we saw the Hall of Fame inductees,
15:52
they had the Rock's mom out there for his grandmother. Why not just
15:58
let auta induct Leia. That would have been just I get it. You
16:02
want the Rock on there, and I guess the Rock is to be the
16:04
headliner for the closing person, but you know, you could have let the
16:07
rocks mom give a speech and you have been just as fine. The other
16:11
thing I really didn't like a lot. I don't some of these fans I
16:14
don't like. I mean, people were talking during bold mccanno's speech. I'm
16:18
like, I seriously just agree to be respectful. Like and that's the doubtside
16:22
of having it in a big arena, you know, just maybe having a
16:26
smaller venue and that way you can kind of pick and choose your audience so
16:29
they can be respectful because uh look, trust me, the Bowld mcconom speech
16:33
was kind of hard to get through if because she doesn't speak great English.
16:37
I get that, but just keep your mouth shut during the person talking.
16:41
Completely agree, completely agree. It's like, guys, this is that's my
16:45
thing is let's let's not have it be a restling event and just like let
16:48
it be part of the celebration professional wrestling and just let the guard down for
16:52
a little bit. We don't need what chance, we don't need talking durance
16:55
speeches, we don't need you know, booze and all that crap. It's
16:59
just like, let's just enjoyed the Hall of Fame ceremony for what it is.
17:00
So there you go, doctor Trey, that's the Hall of Fame ceremony.
17:03
Any other notes that you had from this one, I think, you
17:07
know, from my standpoint, I think we hit everything I want to touch
17:10
upon. I thought thunder bol Patterson had a really good speech as well,
17:14
and then agreed the micro ton to Berry Window micro ton to. I mean
17:18
just watching the emotion come through the whole rotunda, Wyndham family with with Brave's
17:22
passing and the timing of all this stuff. I mean that that's it's gotta
17:26
be a hard speech to. I mean, even though you're you're accepting the
17:30
award for yourself, you know, there there was the talk that they had
17:33
asked about having Braik jump in, you know, by putting Bray in this
17:37
year and might kind of put it down, uh, but you know,
17:41
the cute part was watching Mike and Barry try to figure out how to work
17:45
their phones to give you the fireflys on it. That was kind of cute,
17:49
but it was you know, but it's emotional. I mean, this
17:53
was maybe the most the biggest class that people who had passed on in quite
18:00
in that I can heard. Usually there's only like one maybe two at the
18:03
most, but the you know, we're honoring Bray, but then Muhammad Ali
18:06
had passed on, you know, and Leah Miava had passed on. It's
18:11
kind of like honoring three people in a lot of ways that have passed on
18:14
so very very emotional night, but some great speeches in there as well.
18:17
Yeah, I don't know when we'll get an opportunity to mention this, but
18:18
I did love that every night of WRESTLMANI a weekend from Friday to Monday,
18:22
that there was some sort of tribute to Bray Wyatt at the Hall of Fame,
18:26
which you just spoke about, and then there were times during on Saturday
18:30
and Sunday they did the fireflies played his music, and then they also did
18:33
it on Monday. There's obviously some stuff where now it's looking like the return
18:37
of Uncle Howdy Taylor, Rotunda Bo Dallas is coming back to w w WE
18:40
soon. There's the beginning of those teases. So that's exciting. But the
18:44
Hall of Fame ceremony was a fun night of celebrating the world Professional wrestling.
18:48
And then that takes us to NXC stand and deliver recap review that came to
18:52
us this past Saturday from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We're
18:57
gonna run through the card here, We're gonna do something new. Now,
19:00
I'm gonna go through the results and then we'll go through and get some thoughts
19:04
about the entire event. So Joe Gacy defeated Sewan Spears in the pre show
19:11
match. Doctor Tray and I both had Sewn Spears. Baron Carbon and Braun
19:14
Breaker defeated Nathan Fraser and Axiom to retain the NXC Tag Team Championship. We
19:19
both had the wolf Dogs getting the victory. Obafemi defeats Die Jack and Josh
19:25
Briggs in a triple threat match to retain the NX North American Championship. We
19:27
both had Obafemi thea Haal Vallen Henley and Klooney Jordan defeated Jac Jay and Keana
19:33
James and Izzy Dame. We both had j C. Jame, Keana James,
19:37
and Izzy Dame to win that one. Roxane Perez defeats a Libra Valkyrie
19:41
to win the nc Women's Championship. We both had rox and Perez. Ilia
19:44
dragon Off defeats Tony Dangelo to retain the NFC Championship. We both at Elia
19:48
dragon Off and then the main event, Trick Williams defeats Carmelo Hayes. I
19:53
had Trick Williams. Doctor Trey had Carmelo Hayes. Pay per view prediction record
19:59
from this one. I went five and two, Doctor Trey went four and
20:02
three, And now we'll get to some of the matches and moments we want
20:04
to discuss coming out of NX Standing Delivered from this past Saturday. I guess
20:11
the first thing I want to bring up here, Doctor Trey is Trick and
20:15
Carmelo was kind of a letdown for me. I thought it was surprisingly quick,
20:18
and after that great build, I just felt like it didn't parlay into
20:26
the match itself. Unfortunately. I thought it was really quick and that that
20:30
that surprised me. I think that's probably my biggest takeaway from Stand Deliver.
20:33
It was an overall very solid card, but I thought the way that it
20:37
ended in that match specifically kind of left me scratching my head a little bit.
20:41
Yeah, it felt like they wanted to give the crowd a reason to
20:45
go home happy earlier, but it almost like that match got cut short,
20:48
like they were running out of time. So they will maybe something with maybe
20:51
something with a little long and well, yeah, sometimes you can go with
20:53
the baby face to go over strong over the dastardly eel. It kind of
20:57
turns I don't say a squash match, but it kind of felt like and
21:03
we'll talk about this on WrestleMania a little bit too. But it kind of
21:06
felt like a Brock match, whereas like we're gonna just get hit the high
21:08
points and go home, you know, so it wasn't on team. I
21:12
was really surprised at how dominant the Roxane Perez victory over Lyra Bogery was Like,
21:17
that was a little bit more. I thought it'd be Lyra would kind
21:21
of dominate and Roxye would have to sneak out of wind. But that's not
21:23
how that one came off. And the joke. I think we all love
21:26
Joe Gacy, but I was kind of surprised that they had Gaycy get the
21:29
win on the pre show. Yeah, that was surprising. The Ridge Hot
21:33
Holland storyline thing was kind of strange. Hopefully we see that tie up a
21:37
little bit. I know you don't. You have not watched NXC television from
21:41
this past week, Doctor Trey, so I guess I have to unfortunately spoil
21:45
some things. My apologies. Fine, the wolf Dog's losing on Tuesday coming
21:52
out of Stand and Liver. I'm not the biggest fan of that type of
21:53
booking. I gotta be honest, Like, why do you do it at
21:56
the pl e and then you follow up on free television and and you do
22:00
the title change. That is such an old school wrestling thing. It's not
22:03
not my favorite. I think on that one, I'm gonna give the credits.
22:07
I'm gonna say that basically, they the drafts around the corner. I
22:11
think you and I both agree Braun will be one of the feature people they
22:14
get drafted. Well, he's on SmackDown. I mean yes, but they
22:18
really haven't used him that much the last month. I think they figured the
22:23
viewership for Stand and Deliver is gonna be higher than what NXT television is.
22:29
So if you put the shine on Braun at the plee, some people will
22:33
miss the XT things. So when you use him in the draft, they're
22:36
like, oh, yeah, I saw him in standon Deliver. He's a
22:37
badass, And that might be kind of why they did the booking like that
22:41
as well. But yeah, I'm not a big fan, like, let
22:44
you know, if you're gonna put the belts on new champions, let him
22:45
have their moments to pl Yeah, I guess my things would be like let
22:51
him get his farewell at Stand and Deliver like they did with Tomaso Champa a
22:56
couple of years ago. I don't know if he preferred to say goodbye to
23:00
the PC crowd instead, but it's like if if they lose, let them
23:04
during the wrestl in a weekend, like get get their flowers and and say
23:07
goodbye to NXT like they've done in the past. You know, maybe their
23:11
thought is, you know, we're putting the belts on two new guys.
23:14
These are these guys. They're gonna be here a little bit longer. Bron's
23:18
not gonna be here, so let them maybe let them ingratiate themselves even more
23:21
to that PC audience, because that crowd, you know, when it's when
23:25
that crowd's hot, it's hot, you know. So I mean those guys,
23:29
I mean make or break people really really quickly. So maybe that it's
23:33
just a weird booking thing when they do that. But I'm just gonna say
23:38
that that they probably thought, either, hey, the viewerships would be higher
23:41
for Staty deliverso Bronka looked good and then would come back to PC. You
23:45
know, we put the belts on these guys, and you know, the
23:48
crowd swallows them up and eats them up, and you know, we can
23:51
see how they go from there, and then the Ridge Holland part from Tuesday's
23:53
NXT. So he retires, he's out of the ring, he's not a
23:56
competitor anymore. They've run a little angle backstage with Joaquin Wilde, and I
24:03
always want to say his old name, but it's like Cruise del Santos delos
24:07
Santos, is that? What is it? Cruz del Toro, Cruz del
24:12
Toro, I always get. I always like mix up his old name too,
24:15
like Robel Mendoza with that one. But Ridge Holland has taken on Joaquin
24:19
wild But he didn't come out and say that he's no longer retired anymore.
24:23
And it's like they just announced it at the end of Anic Sea and I
24:26
was kind of like, like, that's a weird thing for how well w
24:30
WE like ties up loose ends. They're not saying like Ridge Holland's like,
24:33
all right, I'm back, I'm wrestling in any type of segment. It's
24:37
it is what it is. But his gimmee should be he retires at the
24:41
end of every show that would be interrestling. It would just basically be Sean
24:45
Michaels from ninety five, all right, anything else on this car dot sure
24:51
before we get to match, Match of the night and event rating from Standing
24:55
Delivery, I mean I think I think that, you know, we'll talk
24:57
about I thought that that was basically like got by key points from it.
25:03
I gave Stand Deliver. My event rating was a three point five out of
25:07
five. My match of the night was Opa femin die Jack and Josh Briggs.
25:11
I really enjoyed that one. Yeah, I was three point seven and
25:17
I actually had to say matches you Like, I really that that double slam
25:21
he pulled off on Briggs and die Jack. I was like amazed by that.
25:25
But then also just the fact that all three of those guys I could
25:27
see being pretty decent stars, like, you know, upper mid card,
25:33
lower main event guys on the main roster within a couple of years. Oh
25:36
if Hemmy's a freak of nature, but you know, Briggs has a lot
25:37
of jbl and die Jack's just the freak of nature it himself. So any
25:42
one of those guys could could be a breakout star in w w E.
25:45
Yeah, those spots that they were doing. That match was absolutely wild.
25:48
So there you go. Stand Delivers in the books. That takes us now
25:52
to resuming forty nine to one. Resuming Saturday recap in review, I Can't
25:56
do Us this past Saturday from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pencilvan Ria Ripley
26:00
defeats Becky Lynster, retaining the WA Women's World Championship. We both had Rio
26:04
Ripley, A Town Down Under win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. In The
26:08
Awesome Truth win the Raw Tag Team Championship by defeating Damian Priests and Finn Ballard
26:12
di Y, the New Day and the New Catch Republic in a six pack
26:15
ladder match for the e then undisputed w A Tag Team Championship. Both Doctor
26:19
Trey and I had The Awesome Truth winning the Raw Tag titles, an A
26:22
Town Down Under winning the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. The next match was Raymisterian
26:27
Androde filling in for the injured Dragon Lee, defeating Santos Escobar and Dominic Mysterio.
26:33
I had RAYMISTERI and Androde Doctor trade Santos and Dominic. Jay Uso defeats
26:37
Jimmy Uso. We both had jay Usso, Jade Cargill, Bianca bel Air
26:41
and Now we defeated Damage Control. We both had Jade Bianca and Naomi Sammy
26:45
Zayin defeats Gunther to win the WI CUNTINALD Championship and end the six hundred and
26:49
sixty six day reign of Gunther, and then Roman Reigns in The Rock defeat
26:53
Cody Rhodes and Seth Freaking Ronalds, making the championship match on Night two between
26:57
Rains and Roads to be held under Bloodline rules. Doctor Trey and I both
27:00
had Roman Reigns and The Rock winning that one matches in moments that we wanted
27:06
to discuss coming out of Night one, Doctor Try. I guess it's easy
27:08
to start with the main event here. I really enjoyed this tag team match,
27:15
slow build, great storytelling, and it set up a ton of interest
27:18
for Wrestumantia Sunday. What a great table setter match for the entire weekend.
27:22
I really enjoyed the tag team title match certainly, Yeah, and I like
27:26
how they put the match together because it wasn't like very long into that match.
27:32
They went out to the crowd. And when you have a guy like
27:34
Rock, even though he's been training with Dallas and all these people and everything
27:37
going, man, it's different being out there from an audience and in the
27:42
ring that even in training, So it was nice to have him go out
27:47
to the crowd brawl for a little bit, kind of get his feet under
27:48
him to come back into the match. But yeah, it was. It
27:52
was. It was a really really solid tag match, some good storytelling and
27:56
things like that. So it was a really great on the pick Off night.
28:00
I mean, to end one at least Lovedrea Ripleing and Becky Lynch.
28:06
That was a fun match. The six pack ladder match, I really enjoyed.
28:08
That was a fun match. Again, hat tip to Doctor Trey for
28:11
saying this is how they split the titles. Jay and Jimmy was kind of
28:15
a letdown for me. I did not really enjoy that one as much as
28:21
I was hoping Ray and Andrade was winning. That one was kind of the
28:26
Sports Center match where Lane Johnson and Jason Kelsey came out. Jade, Bianca
28:32
and Naomi winning was a good match as well. I thought it was a
28:34
great way of protecting Jade and we mentioned on last week's show. If the
28:40
plan is which I would imagine is the money in this all is to eventually
28:42
do Jade and Bianca. I mean, I like the slow build that you're
28:47
seeing like the change in creative patterns, because if I think if Vince was
28:51
at the Helm, they would be I would have been doing Bianca versus Jade
28:55
on night one instead of them tagging and let this build out a little bit.
28:59
Sammy defeating Conthor was a huge shock to me. Doctor Trey took me
29:03
by surprise. Loved the last minute of it, and I saw Triple H
29:08
mentioning this, and I actually wrote this down on my notes on Saturday night.
29:11
I think Sammy Zain has become this current generation's mister WrestleMania. His connection
29:18
with the fan base is amazing. And Triple H nearly said the same thing
29:22
where he said Sammy Zain is is as a connection to the fan base like
29:26
Sean Michaels did. So those are some of my feelings and moments from Wrestlemanty
29:30
Night one as well. Yeah, so for me, Ria and Becky it
29:34
was a good match, but it didn't It wasn't what Rhea and Charlotte was
29:38
last year. Agreed. Yeah, so I was a little bit littlely down,
29:41
but then again, I'm like they're they're selling it that Becky. Basically
29:44
Becky had broad kaitas so Travis almost the same thing, so we almost go,
29:49
Okay, you kind of have to give her a pass on the match,
29:52
you know at times, but it's still you really solid match. The
29:56
Santo's Dominic ray On Drawing match had its moments where it was really cool,
30:02
but I really just I didn't like the Kelsey like Johnson getting involved because it
30:07
just didn't make any sense to me at all. Like I was just like,
30:11
well, this is a horrible way to end this match. But that
30:15
double plancha with Andrada and Ray coming down on Santo's and and uh, Donic
30:21
was cool. And then you got a little bit of the LWO and and
30:23
uh, you know, Legato getting involved, and they did that really crazy
30:27
springboard spot with walking into Wild where they launch him halfway up the ramp,
30:32
like that's pretty cool, and be featured on BL's cool. Uh, Jimmy
30:36
and Jay was a letdown, And I think a lot of it was that
30:37
moment in the middle of the match that like Jimmy or yeah, Jimmy started
30:41
playing hurt and wanting like sympathy and Jake gave it to him. It just
30:45
it took away from the entire match. After it, it was just like,
30:48
dude, how dumb, are you? Like, the guy's been kicking
30:51
your ass for six months and you're just gonna be like, oh, I'm
30:53
sorry, yeah, it's cool. I'll then you got screwed on it.
30:56
But Jay got the wind and you know, the crowd loves saying for some
31:00
reason, it is what it is. But that Guther Sammy match was so
31:06
good and so entertaining and you know, goother like playing the Sammy's wife during
31:15
the match. I was like, this is it's weird, but it's the
31:19
first time you've really seen Guther get cocky in a match, which is a
31:23
little bit different from his character. Like his character is like, you know,
31:26
he's a purist, like he just wants to get the victory and and
31:30
win the match, and this one was kind of like, you know,
31:33
trying to show up Sammy on the stage and it cost him the rain.
31:37
I was surprised that he lost the rain. Also on day six sixty six,
31:41
so you know, on the same week, we were having a Stollberry
31:42
clips in the World's Coming to an End and stuff like that. So and
31:45
I suffered an earthquake. Yeah, there you go. I totally forgot about
31:48
that. I was watching Yankees batting practice when the earthquake happened. Actually,
31:52
yeah, I thought the subway was going underneath my my condo, but that
31:57
there's no subway here, So there you go. Night one in the books
32:02
pay per View Predictions, I went six and one. Doctor Trey went five
32:06
and two. Event rating match the night I gave restumating a Saturday at four
32:12
point three. In my match the night was Rains and Rock, Cody and
32:15
Seth. I was a little bit lower than you. I was a four
32:17
point one. And as much as I want to get Sammy and Guther,
32:22
Sammy, I think I said nothing. You feel like I kind of wanted
32:24
to pick Sammy, but I didn't think Samy could win all the time.
32:29
I guess, uh, you know, when you're a triple eh guy,
32:31
you can win all the time. So I Samy and Guther was a great
32:35
match. Plus, I mean, hell, Sammy wins the Your Kindo title
32:37
while Sammy Frank was watching it be done, so I can't It's hardly pick
32:42
against that. Yeah, it's very easy to dislocate our shoulders now and like
32:45
pat ourselves on the back and say like, oh, I wish I picked
32:49
Sammy. I mean I felt the same way that that is like the one
32:51
match from Wrestumating week, and it's like, man even like going into it
32:53
when the way that they were hyping up was like, why the hell didn't
32:55
I pick Sammy to win? Like he's winning this match, There's no way
33:00
with all this build up he loses. As soon as I saw Ko backstage,
33:04
when you saw Sammy and his wife, then Sammy and Gable and then
33:07
Sammy and Ko, I was like, Sammy's win in this match. Yeah,
33:10
No, I thought the same thing. And I also want to just
33:14
give a hat tip. I was so happy Archer with Guy at the wrestlining
33:15
moment. What I thought I would he he's uh, he's bitter like he
33:21
debuted WT Age of twenty seven, he's fifty three now and this is his
33:25
first WrestleMania win, which also shows you that Vince is in the idiot at
33:30
times when they come to certain characters. Yeah. I remember him as k
33:32
Quick in the early two thousands, teaming with road Dog, So props to
33:37
our truth get Rowdy. Yes, I actually have that album somewhere CD.
33:42
But then obviously spent some time in TENA. You were saying something to doctor
33:45
Try. Yeah, was that your your street Cred CD. Was that your
33:49
street cred song back in the day when you were going to high school?
33:51
Like get round? I don't want to, I don't want to, like
33:53
get too deep into this the first ever CD I ever own. This is
33:57
factual, nineteen ninety five Coolio Gangs to Paradise album. You were such a
34:01
rebel back there. I was, You're you. You were one one rough
34:07
weekend from joining the main street posse. Second album I own, and this
34:10
is legitimate as well. Uh Peter Paul Mary's Greatest Hits, So that is
34:16
the vast difference. And then third Garth Brooks greated sits So we're We're and
34:22
that is me in a nutshell you want to talk about. I have a
34:24
wide ranging love of music, whether it be hip hop, country, R
34:30
and B, what have you rock? I'm here for it. Folks Night
34:34
two wrestumting a Sunday recap reviews obviously was this past Sunday from Lincoln Financial Field
34:38
in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Uh. Drew McIntyre defeats Seth Freakin Rowlands to win
34:44
the WA Reliveweight Championship, and then Damian Priest defeats Drew McIntyre to win the
34:49
WA Reliveweight Championship. Doctor Trey and I, funny enough both at Damian Priest
34:52
Cash ins Uh. Doctor Trey did have Drew McIntyre winning that match, and
34:55
then Damian Cash in the Pride defeats the Final Tes Simon in a Philadelphia street
35:00
fight. I had the Pride doctory of the Final Testament LA and I defeats
35:04
AJ Styles. We both at AJ Styles. Logan Pol defeats Randy Orton Kevin
35:07
Owens to retain the w United States Championship. We both had Logan Pol Bailey
35:12
defeats Eo Sky to win the w Women's Championship. We both had Bailey and
35:15
Cody Rhodes defeats Roman Reigns to win the undisputed ww Universal Championship in a Bloodline
35:22
rules match. We both had Cody Rhoads winning that one. Matches in moments
35:29
that we want to discuss, it's very easily to start with Cody Rhodes finishing
35:32
the story Doctor Trey. For the very first time since August twenty twenty,
35:37
we have a new WWE Universal Champion. I mean that match is going to
35:44
be forever remembered. It was the Avengers for professional Wrestling. It is what
35:49
wrestling is all about. Good storytelling in the ring, fun moments, nostalgia
35:52
moments, nostalgia pops, entertainment, emotion. The story is finished. There's
36:00
one drawback and the only reason why there's a drawback is because of Russell Votes
36:05
and putting it out there and the moment where the Rock is beating up Cody
36:08
Roads outside of the rain in Chicago and they have the trailer lit up with
36:14
Johnsen and Stone Cold Steve Austin. The one thing that was missing was if
36:17
Stone Cold Steve Auston came out. But you know what, go back and
36:22
listen to that gong and the Undertaker comes out. That is a very loud
36:27
pop. So would there have been a Stone Cold pop just as equal to
36:30
that? Absolutely, But they made up for it as well. I mean,
36:34
I think that's the easiest thing to start with here. Doctor Trey is
36:37
Cody Rhoades finishing the story. I love that match. That was match was
36:39
fun. Yeah, that match was fantasy. I think you and I talked
36:43
about it off the air after that week show and we said if Jay usso
36:47
John Cena, No, we talked about that on air air, Yes,
36:52
And that's how I convinced you to change your pick. Yeah, it's true.
36:54
I think we I think we think if that would that be the greatest
37:00
wrestling match of all time, And you said it'd be hard to top it.
37:04
Well, we didn't get stone Cold, we got the Undertaker, so
37:07
it's really really close. But I would say I would say that I still
37:14
feel like Steve Austin Kevin Owens was more entertaining. That's just my personal preference.
37:20
I would say that that's not where there's This is a two year long
37:24
build up to get to this match. I hear you, I hear you
37:29
right to add and then to added. I mean there's the the seth Rawlin
37:34
stuff with Roman in that match, and then you got the scene of solo,
37:37
you got the USO's, you got Undertaker choke slamming Rock all in this
37:42
match. You even had that momentary staredown between Roman and Cody that was reminiscent
37:47
of the R excuse me rock in Sina, which goes back to what twenty
37:52
nine and thirty, but then also Hogan and Rock from WrestleMania. I mean,
37:58
there was some good storytelling that match eye together. I mean fifteen year
38:01
stuff, twenty years stuff, ten year stuff. I mean, there was
38:06
a lot of threads being pulled on in that match, and they pulled it
38:09
off pretty seamlessly. So I got to get those guys a lot of credit.
38:13
If it's not the great, it might be the greatest main event to
38:17
close out a Wrestlemanian history. I mean, but I think if you went
38:25
back in a time wrestlmingy thirty people would throw out there, right. People
38:31
love Yesselmania, and I just for me I when I bring up to Steve
38:37
Austin comparisons, So here's the difference. I always I got to the point
38:40
where I thought Cody Roach is going to win on Sunday, and if he
38:44
didn't, I think we would be looking at this entire like wrestling landscape,
38:47
like what do they do from here? Like how the hell do they do
38:51
what they did last year and do it again? I expected that. I
38:54
never expected Steve Austin to wrestle again, And I'm just talking in short term
39:00
memory, and even leading into that one, we weren't necessarily sure. And
39:07
I mean, I'm kind of gotta spoil this. I don't want to spoil
39:09
my feelings on Restraining forty quite yet. But I think if you're been a
39:13
long time listening, you can kind of see where I'm heading with some stuff.
39:15
It was expected Cody doing the story, but it was just so damn
39:20
entertaining. I mean, ultimately, it was like you're just sitting there and
39:22
it's like, this is so much fun. We're exhausted. It's fun.
39:25
But I just felt like the feeling of the moment I had was was a
39:30
tad bit higher when Steve Austin was wrestling coming Kevin Owens, because I love
39:34
those two guys so much as a wrestling fan. I think, I don't
39:37
know, I don't know if you if you did this deep dive. But
39:38
I saw a video today of a kid crying that Cody won, and I
39:44
went on YouTube and started like just kind of searching out, like Cody wrote,
39:47
like kids reactions to Cody winning, And it was kind of across the
39:52
board, like these young kids, these eight, nine, ten, eleven
39:55
year olds like just universally love Cody legitimately thought that he wasn't going to win
40:01
because of that blood. So they were so emotion and you know, guys
40:05
like us that are kind of and I'm using the air quotes, I think
40:07
you guys can't the smart marks of the world, like we can see the
40:12
writing on the wall. But for me, like in that moment, it
40:14
was kind of like going back to when you're a kid and you kind of
40:17
thought wrestling was real, but you didn't know for certain like it was still
40:21
real to those kids. Yeah, so it's a little bit of to me,
40:24
it was like the Daniel Brian WrestleMania thirties up there, Kevin Owens Stone
40:30
call because of the nostalgia for us, because we never thought we'd see Stone
40:34
call wrestle in our stone called wrestling in you know, Ben Waugh and Eddie
40:38
closing out. Was it wrest twenty Yeah, So I mean maybe it's like
40:43
every ten year things for us. You know, Sean Michaels beating Brett Hart,
40:49
that was wrestling at twelve. Yeah, So I mean those ones are
40:52
up there, But I mean to get that moment where like remember I think
40:55
I told you off here, I said, if you get that moment where
40:58
you got you know, I was trying to say, if you had Austin,
41:00
Cina and Cody in the ring at one at one time, you had
41:05
Ko, Sammy Sina, Randy Orton all celebrating Johnson's win in Cody Rose win
41:14
co Cody Rose his win at one time you you kind of got that,
41:19
and then you have seth Rownin's on the outside, who could barely stand at
41:22
that point. You know, like, dear god, that was that was
41:25
a pretty It's coming one. Ones like Jeff, when you and I are
41:30
sixty, you know we're gonna we're gonna talk about how WrestleMania forty closed out.
41:34
It's definitely a memorable one, don't get me wrong at all. And
41:37
and I'm just saying this is just personal preference and maybe historically changes people's minds
41:40
as well, including mine. But what I liked about the end finish is
41:45
the very first wrestlemanting that I remember watching start to finish live was Wrestmating at
41:51
ten when I was a little kid in nineteen ninety four. And they close
41:53
out that show with Brett Hart doing the unthinkable despite losing early night against Owen
41:59
Hart and the Opener, and he defeats Yokazuna in like five minutes and really
42:02
not a great match if you go back and watch it. No disrespect everybody,
42:06
but they close out that show and they bring out all the baby faces
42:08
and they lift Brett Hard up and they did that moment thirty years later with
42:14
Kevin Owens, excuse me, with Cody Rhoads with Kevin Owens and Sammy's a
42:17
and the ring jay Uza lifting them up, and I thought that was really
42:21
cool. And I don't know if they did that purposely as a hat tip
42:22
to Wrestle A eighty ten, but it was very old school and I loved
42:27
it. The part that got me, and you didn't really realize it to
42:31
me, at least as I was watching until after the show. The Seth
42:36
Rollins factor in this all is a very instrumental, potentially foreshadowing part in this
42:45
him. The reason why Cody Rhoads won is because Rain's had an opportunity to
42:52
take the chair and hit Cody Rhoads with it and end the match. But
42:57
Seth is in the ring in the shield regalia, and Roman Reigns finally has
43:01
his first misstep in nearly forty years as champion. Instead of going after Cody,
43:07
wants to get revenge for Plan B when Seth took him out ten years
43:12
ago. Strikes Seth Rons with a chair and that's when Cody Rhods capitalizes.
43:17
Hits the three Crossroads. The one two three and becomes new champion and then
43:21
outside the ring, like you can make a strong case and maybe they'll do
43:25
the storyline wise and maybe Seth turn zeal at some point. The reason why
43:30
Cody Rhoads won that match is because of Seth rons like he lived up to
43:35
his end of the barket by saying I can be your shield and to me,
43:38
the way that it played out in the ring, the way that they
43:40
set it up, the foreshadowing, the build, everything that went on with
43:45
we want Cody back in early February coming out of Royal rumble Wwe executed it
43:51
perfectly ultimately at the end of the day here Doctor Trey and everything that they
43:54
did creatively, I absolutely loved and I mean massive, massive hat tip for
44:00
them on the execution. And I don't know if you when when Cody reached
44:02
the rubs of shakes Seth's hand, he said, he goes, I owe
44:07
you one, and Seth goes, I'm on to halt you tube. Yeah
44:09
it's coming up. It is. I don't know that there was a moment
44:14
in the Shields music hit I was like, I know Seth's coming is mocks
44:17
up there, same same same, I really I thought that like that went
44:24
through my head where I was like, man, could you imagine if they
44:27
got Moxley, that place would have lost their shit and AW would have benefited
44:32
from that just as equally. And then I went back and play I was
44:35
like, oh, maybe they got Kurt Angle to where the Shields hated God,
44:39
I hated that other stuff from this one. I really enjoyed talk about
44:45
Seth. I really enjoyed the Drew Mcatar Seth Freak and Rollins match. I
44:47
thought that was great. It was really good. It was fast paced.
44:51
Uh, the celebration afterwards was really good. Rubbing in the face to see
44:54
him punk then Punk taken out Drew and the Damien cash in was really well
44:59
executed. Logan Paul Randy Or and Kevin Owens was really good. Clearly I
45:06
have no idea who I show Speed is because he made an appearance. So
45:09
for two years in a row, somebody revealed themselves in the prime thing and
45:14
I no idea who it was. Do you know who that is? That's
45:15
true When it happened once again two years in a row, for a moment
45:19
I thought it was our truth. Well, I mean, Michael Cole thought
45:22
it well Michael Cole thought it was KSI. Yeah, I don't know I
45:27
And here's the thing I watch. Well, No, I've watched a couple
45:30
episodes of Impulsive. You know, I don't know who these people are.
45:35
And then I think that guy's not even on their show. He's just another
45:37
YouTuber. No, I looked at I had to look it up after the
45:40
match. I mean, this is now how old I am? He is
45:43
I believe a twitch streamers. It's sad that that's the thing. No,
45:50
it's amazing. I stole shows. I show speed, I show speed all
45:55
one word. Though I show speed. It's pronounced I show speed, but
45:59
it's all one word. Write this down so you can tell your steps on
46:01
later, like, hey, did you know I show I show stuff?
46:06
Was that the WrestleMania. I'm gonna ask him after the after we got to
46:09
show, after we got our show that I'm showing my age. That's gonna
46:15
be my name. That's my Twitch name. I show eight. By the
46:16
way, I'm gonna I am age. That's it. That's all it is.
46:21
But yeah, that's did no clue that was I. But I do
46:25
love. Apparently that's gonna be a thing with the Prime mascot gets beat up
46:29
every If we get Pete Rose in the prime thing for Cana choke Slam at
46:34
moy Year, that would be good. Yeah, no, keep it going
46:36
and in that match, clearly it would. I would believe a Randy Orton
46:40
Kevin Owens tag team is coming because a Town down Under won the tag titles
46:45
for SmackDown, which at one point, I think or leading into the Wrestling
46:50
Weekend, there was rumors that they were gonna get pulled from that match.
46:52
Yeah for pretty deadly. I don't know how that came about, but yeah.
46:55
So those are some of the things that I took away from Night to
46:58
Doctor Trey, your your thoughts on some things that you enjoyed from Night too.
47:01
Number one was, yeah, apparently Seth is his body's just giving out
47:06
because that match was very hard hitting. But I told my wife, I
47:09
said, this is a Brock Lester match. And I say that because it
47:13
was literally like finish finish. It was just like we're gonna hit our big,
47:15
our big moves, over and over and over again. It was like
47:17
one of those the old school Brock Roman matches where a Brock and Goldberg where
47:22
it's just f fives and spars, you know, but uh, I did
47:25
not know that was Drew's wife. I was like, who's that young chick
47:28
in the front row. I thought it was his daughter or something. But
47:32
the Damien Cash I thought was great and it's a good way to kind of
47:37
you know Drew because the crowd booed see him punk when he was attacking Drew.
47:43
That was the crazy thing about that whole thing for me. So but
47:45
that was that was pretty cool. I don't know. Bailey EO was was
47:51
decent, but kind of a letdown. I think it's because I think I
47:54
told you I wanted the wacky waving a flatable two men to come back and
47:58
they didn't. But the Loan Logan Paul every time I watch him in a
48:04
poly two years. It's only been two years since he debuted, and he
48:09
just beat a thirteen time world champion and a three time world champion in a
48:13
match at WrestleMania. I mean, the sky's the limit for the Logan Paul.
48:16
As long as he wants to be a ww star, he could be
48:20
the person if they take the US tun off him to have a magic cody
48:22
where the fans go, Yeah, I don't know who's winning his match because
48:27
on paper, By rates to me through the roof for that, because he'd
48:30
have his fan base plus the wrestling fan base all buying in to watch that
48:34
match. Yeah, you got to. You gotta respect what he's doing,
48:37
Logan Paul. I mean, he's really become a good end ring performer and
48:40
he's proven he can hang with some of the best, So you just have
48:43
to give respect to that. I also want to mention as well. I
48:45
forgot to mention this in my thoughts from rust many night too. I'm so
48:50
happy for Damian Priest. I mean, that guy deserves it. I mean
48:52
he took the pin in a really good match at Backlash last year against a
48:58
musical performer, and then he got rewarded with money in the bank and they
49:02
got rewarded with the Showcase at WrestleMania. So I'm very, very happy for
49:07
Damian Priests. That deserves it. So not to mention a guy who trained
49:10
at the Monster Factory right down the road got to win the World Championship in
49:15
Philadelphia. Just that was awesome. And then once again a little bit of
49:20
you know, a little bit of storytelling, Tian. They're like only the
49:23
second time somebody's cashed it at WrestleMania. Well, the guy who did it
49:27
first was the guy in that match, so it all ties there. I
49:30
learned tell my wife, I like, I was like, if wrestling was
49:31
a real thing, like you know, blah blah blah, I would only
49:35
like if I ever won by the bank. Of course, you cashed into
49:37
wrestle Media. It's the biggest stage to cash in on. So why would
49:39
it's weird that only two people have ever done it? Yeah, it is.
49:44
It is very strange. So yo. So there's some of our thoughts
49:46
from night too. WrestleMania prediction record from Night two. I went five on
49:52
one. Doctor Trey went four and two. I'm at thirty five and eight.
49:55
Doctor Trey's at thirty and thirteen. Coming out of the very long Wrestling
50:00
weekend pay per view event ratings and Match of the night. I gave WrestleMania
50:05
Sunday a four point five out of five and my match of the night was
50:07
Cody Roads and Roman Reign. Yeah. I actually had four point five also
50:12
and my match was Cody and Roman because that was just just beautiful storytelling.
50:15
So, like I mentioned earlier, Doctor Trey, you know, in my
50:19
discussion about like I was enjoying Steve Austin the Austin Kevin Owens match from w
50:22
Resumani thirty eight. Here's what I'll say. I feel like that there is
50:28
a trilogy of great WrestleManias w Resumania seventeen, eighteen and nineteen. My my
50:31
personal preference was really really good for a three year stretch. I think thirty
50:38
eight, thirty nine and forty are going to be looked at back as equally
50:44
as good as a trilogy for professional wrestling. With that said, I think,
50:51
and I'm looking back at my notes here, I think I really enjoyed.
50:54
If I had to put in that order, I would say I enjoyed
50:58
Wrestlemana thirty nine last year the most out of the last three, WrestleMania thirty
51:02
eight as number two, and I would put WrestleMania of forty as number three
51:07
out of those. And that's could be a little controversial, but I think
51:09
when you compare the last three WrestleManias thirty eight, thirty nine, and forty,
51:15
which to me historically may be looked upon as the same way that I
51:17
look at seventeen, eighteen and nineteen. I don't know if you feel the
51:21
same way Doctor Trey, I would say thirty nine was the best, then
51:24
thirty eight, then forty from this past weekend. Uh who did Roman wrestle
51:30
at thirty eight? He wrestled the Brock for the title unification. Ye okay,
51:35
so that's that's the weird thing about so thirty eight. I really enjoyed
51:37
thirty eight because I thought the Seth Cody match was good. That was also
51:43
when we got Ko and Austin. You know so, but the main event
51:49
match of Roman and Brock is kind of a leaddown. But then when you
51:52
look at last your stuff, you know that show, I argue, I
51:55
think it was one of the highest ratios we've ever huvered in the hill history
52:00
of our show, and this show's right there with it. I'd probably go
52:06
forty, thirty eight thirty nine in what order? Is that? One two
52:12
three or three two one? I'd probably go forward like this one might and
52:15
love is also the good guys getting the win, and we got the Rock
52:19
and the match on night one. The baby Face gets to win on night
52:22
two. Uh cause if you think about the last two years, the bad
52:25
guy has ended the show with the win. So you liked forty better?
52:30
And the most you liked thirty eight two years ago. Second, and you
52:34
liked thirty nine as the third in that one. Yeah, and I'm really
52:38
surprising, And it might just depend on my mood for the day, I
52:43
think right now, like after what And a lot of it also is like
52:45
you know, when you have a little kid and you're trying to get your
52:46
little kid involved in wrestling. It's like that when the good guy wins to
52:51
end the show, and you know, you see all these I tell you,
52:53
if you if you deep dive that and go down that rabbit hole seeing
52:57
these kids and their reactions to Cody winning, it'll give you like almost like
53:01
a little bit of like your own nostalgia from when you were a kid watching
53:05
Brett Harpy. Interesting. Yeah, I mean I loved thirty nine because I
53:09
thought, and I get your point with the feel good story of it all,
53:13
But I love thirty nine because you had Rhea and Charlotte, you had
53:15
gone through and Drew and Seamus, you had Sammy and Kevin and the USOS.
53:22
I mean those were some even rains and roads, which is often forgotten
53:25
because the result was a really good match at thirty nine, Seth and logan
53:30
Paul at thirty nine was really good. Yeah, it's I don't know.
53:35
I guess I could understand that the plan on the emotions there. I think
53:38
it kind of deppends like when you go back and look at some of your
53:40
favorite trilogies and then your favorite times in wrestling. It also depends on where
53:45
you're at your life. Like for us as older guys, we like watching
53:47
the win or we like watching just good competitive, hard hitting matches, and
53:52
sometimes like a show like this. I mean, there are so many storylines
53:58
that were getting tied up and you know, someone just bringing something other.
54:01
One of the things, you know, as we're talking about Cody getting the
54:04
show and getting lifted on his shoulders and I think I told you off the
54:07
air last week. The one of the things about Cody is he he has
54:09
a lot of his favorite wrestlers combined in his persona. He's got his dad.
54:14
The hair looks like Rick Flair a little bit. The jacket is very
54:17
reminiscent of Surfer Sting, which was who grew up idolizing as well. And
54:23
when Sting first won the World Championship, they did the same thing as well.
54:27
They lift him up on the shoulders while the good guys and I was
54:29
like, I've sitting there watching this is yeah, like that was I forgot
54:32
about Brett getting lifted up. I was thinking of Sting getting lifted up when
54:36
he finally defeated Flair for the title. Mm hmm, No, that's a
54:38
really good point. Yeah, I can see that. I guess. The
54:44
last thing I want to mention since we're talking about Cody is everybody's loving him
54:47
across the board one hundred per everybody is loving the story has been finished,
54:52
all that stuff. When do the fans art turn in on Cody? Is
54:57
that's what they do? How long did it take for Seena to get turned
55:00
on? Well, what do we do? They loved him at twenty one
55:05
when he first was crowned as champion, By like twenty two they hated them,
55:07
so maybe like eight to twelve months. I think it depends like this.
55:12
This is where you're gonna see the difference between Triple H booking and Vince
55:15
booking is how they book a babyface champion, Because do you shove him down
55:20
everybody's throats and put him out everywhere or do you kind of space it out?
55:24
And if he spaced it out, a little bit. It's less likely
55:28
for fans to revolt against him. But if you shove him down Avery's throats
55:31
and he's on every single show, which having the draft and having brand split
55:37
can help that a little bit, because you remember those days of Seena,
55:40
Like he was on SmackDown, he was on WRAW, he was on everything.
55:43
He was everywhere at all times. You couldn't get away from it.
55:45
He was in three segments a night, if you know, if we get
55:50
that kind of booking, yeah, the fans will turn on Cody. And
55:52
I still think to this day Cody is could be one of the best heels
55:58
in the world because he dresses like Rick Flair, like he acts like Rick
56:02
Flair. I've said before when he when we were some of the aw stuff
56:06
and even comwe there are times he comes off to me kind of like a
56:08
used car salesman. I've always said that, and I hate I have said
56:12
that. I regret it I'd said that, but yes, I agree with
56:15
you. There are moments like it's like used car salesman slash lawyer can come
56:20
off that way, and that tells me he has the ability to play a
56:23
great heel. So it kind of depends on what they do with Seth.
56:28
And you know when Seth, you know, I don't think Steth been back
56:30
for like three or four months. It's gonna be a little while before Seth
56:32
comes back. You gotta let him get healed up. They said he's out
56:36
for four weeks right now. Is the earliest thing what post draft, But
56:40
once again, it kind of depends on what the roster shake up is to.
56:44
I think I think you run this all the way, at least a
56:46
baby phase, run for at least a goods six to eight months. You
56:51
know, Rock's a heavy gone for a while, but when he comes back,
56:52
he wants Cody, so he might get Cody in the Rock. At
56:55
some point, I think, yeah, so I think you got gage.
57:00
I think you'll gauge the fans reaction to Kobe by SummerSlam, and then you
57:04
can kind of see, hey, this is our this is our building block,
57:07
this is our John Cena, this is our guy. Or is this
57:10
another guy which can turn back and forth and create good storylines just flipping him
57:15
yo baby face for a year or two, heel for a year or two,
57:17
back and forth. Let's talk about the last thing I want to talk
57:21
about here is Obviously this was a banner weekend for World rest and Entertainment.
57:24
There was a lot of talk about the Renaissance era and WWEE is certainly trying
57:30
to push being the Paul Levec era of professional wrestling, which I don't think
57:35
he's comfortable with saying. I don't think this is something that he is like,
57:38
Hey, you know, I want this to be my era. But
57:42
clearly WWWE and before we got on the podcast here and I have not fully
57:50
digested it yet, but I did get an opportunity to watch the all in
57:52
footage from AW, and I've not watched AW Dynamite tonight as we record this.
57:57
That's the only thing I've seen, and we'll only talking about on next
58:00
week's show. But to me, I feel like WI is really starting to
58:05
pull away from all elite wrestling. Like severely is a wrestling fan, and
58:09
the things that would keep me from from sticking and watching all elite wrestling are
58:14
There's a ton of wrestlers that I love over there, still, Will Osprey,
58:16
Fdr Young Bucks, Moxley, what have you. There's a ton of
58:22
the guys and girls that I love watching there, but it's it's just like
58:28
it's Thank God for the competition the aw provided because it pushed WA to get
58:34
better. But this is something that I think you and I have been expecting
58:38
would happened at some point, Doctor Trey, because of how much we enjoyed
58:42
NXT in the mid twenty tens. When Triple H is running it. This
58:45
should not be surprised to any fans of how good WWI is right now.
58:50
It is very entertaining. Maybe spread out wrestling a weekend for like a two
58:53
week time period rather than like four really hard days, but it's just it's
58:59
some of the best stuff I've seen in a long time, and I'm really
59:01
really happy as a wrestling fan right now, a we fan watching it and
59:07
I'm enjoying it. I don't know how people could say anything negative because the
59:12
entering work, the creative, the logic, it makes you think it's entertaining.
59:16
It's good entering performances, everything talked about them. The production has been
59:22
so much better. It just feels like a whole brand new show. Almost.
59:25
They took a victory lap, rightfully they should. They are reportedly getting
59:30
away from the terminology of sports entertainment, going back to professional wrestling. I
59:36
don't know it's just a really good time to be a wrestling fan right now
59:37
again, doctor try And we've said that a lot over the years during the
59:42
fourteen year history of SRTU, but this is the one time where I really
59:46
feel like this is a sustainable period of time that can be really good because
59:51
of who's leading the ship and clearly a roster and the people who've been behind
59:55
the scenes really respect and love the leadership the Triple H is providing. Based
1:00:00
on the things that Paul Hammond said during his speech and other people that you're
1:00:02
seeing in media, how much fun is wrestling right now? No, it's
1:00:07
I mean, dear god, we close out that show with Michael Cole yelling
1:00:12
out I fucking love professional wrestling. That doesn't tell you what kind of era
1:00:17
we're walking into right now, where it's like, man, it's just it's
1:00:22
so good across the board. And I know I get backed on for being
1:00:25
you know, like I'm not an AAW guy, but I mean the entering
1:00:29
action AW is fantastic. Our knock on it usually is okay, some of
1:00:32
the storylines are lacking, or they do dumb stuff that they don't need to
1:00:37
do, or what you know, soups, you know, just dumb stuff
1:00:38
they don't need to do for shock value reasons or whatever. It's a little
1:00:43
there are times it's a little russo, you know, w CW at two
1:00:47
thousand at times. But in ring work, you and I said here one
1:00:52
time, it said there, the AW roster has more depth than the WWE
1:00:58
roster. There's more talent on the AW roster than the WWE one. But
1:01:04
if you want great entering action, there's a show for you. If you
1:01:07
want great old school I want to say old school in this. You know,
1:01:09
Memphis Geo nwas but WW has great entering action, storytelling, commedy,
1:01:16
they have this Smorgasport. They have a little bit of everything. If you
1:01:20
want to dig down to the independence or some of the smaller shows, impact
1:01:22
of really solid show or Tncupertna is really solid right now, the MLWS,
1:01:28
the GCWS. There's just so much good quality content across the board that there
1:01:32
is something out there for everybody, and it's you know, I remember you
1:01:37
and I doing this show seven years ago and talking about us going into the
1:01:43
Golden Age of wrestling, that there was more talent out there in pro wrestling
1:01:46
than we had ever seen before, and it took a little while to come
1:01:51
to fruition. It took some pushing, some prodding, It took competition to
1:01:55
really set that standard and put sit that way. But I think we're finally
1:02:01
answering that age you and I were talking about years and years ago where you're
1:02:06
just like, there's you're almost like to find nega stuff. You have to
1:02:09
nitpick at times. You know, it's it's like, no, just you
1:02:14
know, just across the board, there's something for everybody. And I don't
1:02:16
think there's been a time in the history of this show in fourteen years where
1:02:20
we could say that, yeah, it's a really really good time for professional
1:02:23
wrestling. Just love everything that's going on. Absolute props to WWE for a
1:02:29
very fun and exhausting weekend of professional wrestling. With that said, let's get
1:02:34
a couple plugs and spots of the way and close up shop on this week's
1:02:36
edition of SRTU. You can download show every Thursday or Friday at Real Guy
