- 0:02Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to The Right Time, presented by PrizePix.
- 0:07Speaker 1: My name is Beaumont E.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Jones.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Thanks for listening wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for
- 0:10Speaker 1: watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like, rate us, review us,
- 0:14Speaker 1: give us five stars. You only give us four stars.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I'm inclined to believe you are a hater. We got
- 0:19Speaker 1: a lot of football to get to. As we are recording,
- 0:22Speaker 1: we just got the news that Jalen Hurts will be
- 0:25Speaker 1: out for the season this We knew last week that
- 0:30Speaker 1: he had what they called a superficial blood clot, which
- 0:33Speaker 1: honestly I had never heard of before, but it was
- 0:36Speaker 1: like a superficial vein thrombosis, which is not the same
- 0:39Speaker 1: as the deep vein thrombosis, which quite honestly was the
- 0:42Speaker 1: only one that I had heard of. But that's the
- 0:44Speaker 1: one where you started getting nervous and stuff. Then they
- 0:47Speaker 1: came back and said, okay, they were going to put
- 0:49Speaker 1: him on to IR. The Eagles put out a statement
- 0:54Speaker 1: and to be clear, His agent also sent the statement,
- 0:57Speaker 1: so I'm assuming that all of it is true, but
- 0:59Speaker 1: that he gets over there, he's diagnosed with the superficial
- 1:02Speaker 1: blood clot, which they saw as not really being that
- 1:05Speaker 1: big of a deal, and then they found out that
- 1:08Speaker 1: it's the deep one, and the issue is a little
- 1:11Speaker 1: less about the blood clots themselves than it is about
- 1:15Speaker 1: the fact that you have to go on blood thinners,
- 1:17Speaker 1: and that once you go on blood thinners, you can't
- 1:19Speaker 1: play because your blood is thin and people be hitting. Right.
- 1:24Speaker 1: This is what ended Chris Bosh's career is the fact
- 1:26Speaker 1: that he had to be on blood thinners and that's
- 1:28Speaker 1: just basketball. Anyway, they have now found that these blood
- 1:31Speaker 1: clots are in Hurts lungs. And honestly, this gets us
- 1:35Speaker 1: to the place where this ain't even really about analysis
- 1:37Speaker 1: as much as it is T's and P's. You know
- 1:39Speaker 1: what I mean? Like, I hope he's ultimately OK, whatever
- 1:44Speaker 1: OK happens to mean. But if he winds up having
- 1:49Speaker 1: to live a life that means being on blood thinners,
- 1:52Speaker 1: And he's just not going to be playing football anymore. Ryan,
- 1:56Speaker 1: it gets a little tricky in moments like these. Of course.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Just because, like, I guess I need to just start
- 2:01Speaker 1: talking about something else. Like, nothing I say matters.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it's tough because it's obviously the biggest news of
- 2:06Speaker 3: the day, but also, like, we're going off, you know,
- 2:09Speaker 3: his agent statement and Adam Schefter's tweet at this point.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and, like, also... We had Eagles stuff ready to go, dog. Honestly,
- 2:20Speaker 1: nothing about the Eagles has changed. All the Eagles hot
- 2:23Speaker 1: takes are still valid. It just don't feel right to
- 2:26Speaker 1: say it right now. But, I mean, it'll be a
- 2:28Speaker 1: couple hours later by the time. No, no, no.
- 2:31Speaker 3: For sure.
- 2:32Speaker 1: T's and P's, man. T's and P's. that's where we
- 2:36Speaker 1: go with that one um but we had a lot
- 2:39Speaker 1: of other nfl action it was fantastic right it's always
- 2:43Speaker 1: so weird when the football when the stuff gets serious
- 2:45Speaker 1: right before we about to start doing our whimsical show yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 3: We were just starting to make uh make a wish
- 2:50Speaker 3: foundation jokes and we are we have to you know.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Yeah now yeah now it's the best yeah now it's
- 2:55Speaker 1: a little too on the nose that being said cowboys
- 2:57Speaker 1: went out there and got smacked by the packers last
- 3:00Speaker 1: night um The thing with the Cowboys is, and Ryan,
- 3:04Speaker 1: you tell me if I'm tripping here, but this is
- 3:06Speaker 1: just the way I see it, that it's not really
- 3:10Speaker 1: that much news for us when they lose, except when
- 3:15Speaker 1: they lose and their offense is bad.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yes.
- 3:19Speaker 1: And it's like, I don't really understand what the point
- 3:22Speaker 1: of any of this is with these guys if they're
- 3:25Speaker 1: not going to score any points. And the offense looked bad.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Bad. Bad against a defense who we don't think is
- 3:30Speaker 3: very good either. Right.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And by the way, to be fair to the Make-A-Wish Foundation,
- 3:35Speaker 1: they weren't just out there giving up the booty all game.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think the defense played that poorly,
- 3:41Speaker 1: to be honest. If you get that kind of performance
- 3:45Speaker 1: for that defense, shout out to you, Mike Patton. Apparently,
- 3:48Speaker 1: you are worth something. And what's his name? Christian Parker,
- 3:51Speaker 1: the defensive coordinator. You're never going to get any credit
- 3:54Speaker 1: for this, but good for you. You seem to have
- 3:56Speaker 1: listened when they brought that man in there to give
- 3:58Speaker 1: you some advice. But when that happens, the Cowboys can't
- 4:03Speaker 1: ever have a game where the offense is bad, period.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And It just generally seems it feels anecdotal. I haven't
- 4:12Speaker 1: looked up the actual data to see how much of
- 4:14Speaker 1: this is supported, but it just never feels like the
- 4:18Speaker 1: Cowboys win when they're not supposed to. Or if they
- 4:20Speaker 1: get behind, it's like, all right, Dak, what you got
- 4:22Speaker 1: for us? It just seems to always feel like a
- 4:25Speaker 1: line like this, 34 for 54 for 258. now granted
- 4:30Speaker 1: across the league right i don't know if you've noticed
- 4:32Speaker 1: this everybody seems to be putting up these like minuscule
- 4:35Speaker 1: yards per attempt at this point like in a way
- 4:37Speaker 1: that makes me wonder if this is like a schematic
- 4:39Speaker 1: league thing where everybody went to these two high safeties
- 4:42Speaker 1: the big fangio thing and now everybody has to go
- 4:44Speaker 1: short but it feels like everybody's just putting up nickel
- 4:47Speaker 1: and dime performances that i generally associate with bad quarterback.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Play yeah like just there's a lot of dink and
- 4:53Speaker 3: ducking a lot of uh Bo Nix quarterbacking.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Yes. But even, look, even Jordan Love came out here, though,
- 4:59Speaker 1: with 23 for 41. Like, and one thing we know
- 5:01Speaker 1: about that guy, he gonna throw that bitch four.
- 5:05Speaker 3: But that, there were, he's still chucking it, but there
- 5:08Speaker 3: are a lot of drops with, for this Packers receiving
- 5:11Speaker 3: core we're supposed to think is good.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I have to say this about the Packers. They
- 5:14Speaker 1: are now four and two, and I didn't come out
- 5:16Speaker 1: of this feeling any better about them than I had.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Because their problem, we can't block them. There's really no
- 5:24Speaker 1: way around that one. You can't fix that. When it's
- 5:28Speaker 1: to the point, y'all couldn't even run the ball on
- 5:31Speaker 1: the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Now, granted, Mike Pettin may be helping,
- 5:35Speaker 1: but Mike Pettin wasn't the 12th man on the field.
- 5:38Speaker 1: He still was out there with 11, and from what
- 5:41Speaker 1: I could tell, it looked like the same 11 had
- 5:43Speaker 1: always been the 11th. You know what I mean? Like,
- 5:46Speaker 1: it can't be that. But how about this for the Cowboys?
- 5:50Speaker 1: ESPN's got their, I forget what they call it, but
- 5:52Speaker 1: it's the probability matrix, you know? 63% chance that they're
- 5:57Speaker 1: going to win that division. And why not? The Eagles
- 6:03Speaker 1: will not have a quarterback this year. Now, this is
- 6:05Speaker 1: where we can talk about it. They tried it, that
- 6:08Speaker 1: Tanner McKee out there. I think Matthew Berry, fantasy guy,
- 6:11Speaker 1: he had put something up on Twitter like, I'm not
- 6:14Speaker 1: worried about the Eagles receivers. They'll be fine with Tanner McKee.
- 6:17Speaker 1: And I know, Matt, seems like a nice enough guy.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I don't know what the fuck he was talking about
- 6:23Speaker 1: with that one. Are you serious? Let me tell you something.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Trust me on this. If anybody thought that Tanner McKee
- 6:31Speaker 1: could put up numbers similar to what Jalen Hurts could
- 6:33Speaker 1: put up, you know whose name we would have heard
- 6:35Speaker 1: a lot more of the last couple years? Tanner McKee.
- 6:40Speaker 1: You think that they would keep talking all of this
- 6:43Speaker 1: shit about Jalen Hurts' black ass? If there was a
- 6:46Speaker 1: white boy behind him that could do anything similar, then
- 6:49Speaker 1: you would not have heard him a lot more. He'd
- 6:52Speaker 1: have been the most famous man in Philadelphia. He might
- 6:56Speaker 1: as well have been Rocky Balboa. Not one soul had
- 6:59Speaker 1: thought about putting Tanner McKee on the field up until
- 7:01Speaker 1: this point. You know why? Because it sounds like Matthew
- 7:04Speaker 1: Barry's smoking rocks. And he doesn't strike me as a
- 7:07Speaker 1: rock-smoking type. But damn! No, no, no, no, no. Tanner McKee, Ryan,
- 7:13Speaker 1: you're looking a little petrified right now. We don't have
- 7:14Speaker 1: Ryan's camera. Ryan's making me nervous on this one. This
- 7:16Speaker 1: is no insult to Matthew Barry, who I'm like, I'm
- 7:18Speaker 1: just saying, we know the rules here. We know how
- 7:21Speaker 1: the game goes. Somebody would have had that white man
- 7:24Speaker 1: somewhere in that moment. And they did not.
- 7:31Speaker 3: You saw Andy Dalton said, they tried to get Andy
- 7:33Speaker 3: Dalton back and he said, thanks, but no thanks. And
- 7:35Speaker 3: now he's going to the Falcons.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Yo, let me tell you something. Two things on that point.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Number one, Andy Dalton knows an unpleasant situation when he
- 7:44Speaker 1: sees one. There's going to be nothing fun about taking
- 7:47Speaker 1: that eagle job. That's some self-awareness about where he is
- 7:49Speaker 1: out here. Number two, I'm assuming Andy Dalton just don't
- 7:52Speaker 1: want to play no more. And the reason I'm making
- 7:54Speaker 1: that assumption is there aren't that many places where a
- 7:57Speaker 1: white man cannot get elevated. They got the black dude
- 8:01Speaker 1: and the Polynesian, right, who gets his hair cut by
- 8:04Speaker 1: black people, or at least it looks like he should
- 8:06Speaker 1: based on the texture. Yet in Atlanta, that does not
- 8:09Speaker 1: make you a more attractive starting option. Anywhere else in
- 8:12Speaker 1: the league, Andy Dalton might have rocketed, at the very least,
- 8:15Speaker 1: over Tua just to get ready for Michael Penix to
- 8:17Speaker 1: get hurt. Andy Dalton don't want to play.
- 8:20Speaker 3: No.
- 8:21Speaker 1: That's it.
- 8:22Speaker 2: For what?
- 8:22Speaker 3: He's 45 years old.
- 8:24Speaker 1: For who? This is year 15. Andy Dalton has stuck
- 8:28Speaker 1: around for 15 years. Yeah, he don't want no parts
- 8:34Speaker 1: of that unpleasant situation. And then staying in that division...
- 8:37Speaker 1: your boys, the New Orleans Saints, they came up and
- 8:40Speaker 1: they was putting a hurt on the Giants. And then
- 8:42Speaker 1: they took Jameis out of the game and they put J.J.
- 8:44Speaker 1: McCarthy in the game. Which I thought was an interesting decision.
- 8:49Speaker 1: They did this thing where they got mad at Jameis
- 8:51Speaker 1: for being who he is. But at the same time,
- 8:54Speaker 1: I guess you got to try something. McCarthy put up
- 8:58Speaker 1: some big numbers and put up some big throws, but
- 9:01Speaker 1: I don't think that was the same thing as actually
- 9:03Speaker 1: playing well. I feel like he had a couple opportunities
- 9:07Speaker 1: that he gave to the Saints where they could have
- 9:10Speaker 1: picked him off. But, I mean, he averaged something like
- 9:12Speaker 1: 20 yards of completion in that game. We had said
- 9:17Speaker 1: before how bad we had figured he was and that
- 9:19Speaker 1: he still would not get a chance to be a starter.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Given that Cam Scadaboo is not playing well, and then
- 9:28Speaker 1: given that Jackson Dart is not coming back, I feel
- 9:34Speaker 1: like J.J. McCarthy will get his opportunity to start, whether
- 9:38Speaker 1: he's better than Jameis or not. I'm just saying, North
- 9:41Speaker 1: Jersey had been real fired up about that Scataboo-Dart situation.
- 9:46Speaker 1: They really have. Scataboo out there putting the ball on
- 9:48Speaker 1: the ground all the time, getting three-something yards to carry,
- 9:51Speaker 1: whatever it is, man. And, Ryan, you live here. Well,
- 9:54Speaker 1: I mean, obviously you live here sitting in the same
- 9:56Speaker 1: room yeah um this is no longer we're no longer
- 9:58Speaker 1: in different locations um the local the local whites have
- 10:03Speaker 1: been really really excited about this quarterback running back situation
- 10:06Speaker 1: that they've had they've really charged up and then they
- 10:09Speaker 1: replaced it with james who also seems to have them
- 10:12Speaker 1: fairly excited right but it ain't the same right he's
- 10:16Speaker 1: It's a little different. Anyway, I get the feeling just
- 10:19Speaker 1: for morale that J.J. McCarthy may get his opportunity to
- 10:24Speaker 1: get out here and start. I will just remind you
- 10:27Speaker 1: that the team that knew J.J. McCarthy the best said, nope,
- 10:32Speaker 1: we've got Carson Wentz. What do we need J.J. McCarthy for?
- 10:37Speaker 1: Just saying. I don't think it's going to necessarily go well,
- 10:40Speaker 1: but I think he'll get his opportunity. And then the
- 10:42Speaker 1: commandos play the 49ers tonight. All of that is to
- 10:48Speaker 1: say the Dallas Cowboys have a 63% chance to win
- 10:52Speaker 1: the NFC East, and it's not kooky numbers. It's a bad, bad,
- 10:58Speaker 1: bad division. Bad division. Is anything better for business, though,
- 11:02Speaker 1: than a Cowboys team that consistently loses but is also
- 11:06Speaker 1: going to go to the playoffs and get a home game?
- 11:10Speaker 3: Never.
- 11:11Speaker 1: This is, oh my God, this is foul money. This
- 11:14Speaker 1: is absolutely foul money. Hell yeah. All right. Anyway, I
- 11:21Speaker 1: think one of the biggest winners right now in the NFL. Okay,
- 11:25Speaker 1: that's going to sound. Nobody wins when Jalen Hurts has
- 11:30Speaker 1: blood clots in his lungs.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Obviously.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Nobody wins. However, some people do move down the rundowns
- 11:37Speaker 1: of television shows, and that includes the Los Angeles Rams,
- 11:42Speaker 1: who I would not call a beneficiary from this injury,
- 11:45Speaker 1: but I would say are no longer at the top
- 11:47Speaker 1: of the show.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Correct.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Because they were definitely going to be at the top
- 11:49Speaker 1: of this show. They lost to the Cardinals. The Cardinals,
- 11:54Speaker 1: you know who the only other team was the Cardinals beat, Ryan?
- 11:58Speaker 3: The Chargers.
- 11:59Speaker 1: The Chargers. The Cardinals are all, they're two and four.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Their four losses are to the Giants, Seahawks, the 49ers,
- 12:10Speaker 1: and America's team, the Detroit Lions. All good-ish teams. The
- 12:17Speaker 1: Giants aren't terrible. Even with Jameis. I think Jameis played
- 12:20Speaker 1: pretty well in that game. But the Giants, actually, no.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I was mixing that up with the Commandos game. My bad.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Wrong team wearing that color. But the Giants are like
- 12:28Speaker 1: not terrible. Losing at your crib. By the way, I
- 12:34Speaker 1: saw this because both of their wins have been at SoFi.
- 12:37Speaker 1: They have more wins in Los Angeles than the Los
- 12:40Speaker 1: Angeles teams have combined. They do. And the Rams did
- 12:46Speaker 1: not look good. And I want to point this out.
- 12:49Speaker 1: If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. If I'm a hater, I'm
- 12:52Speaker 1: a hater. But I don't think I am. Now, a
- 12:55Speaker 1: lot of you guys know that one of the things
- 12:58Speaker 1: that is a pet peeve for me is how y'all
- 13:00Speaker 1: all woke up one day and decided that Matthew Stafford
- 13:03Speaker 1: deserved to be in the Hall of Fame. And it
- 13:05Speaker 1: bothered me just because none of you said it for
- 13:08Speaker 1: the first 12 years of his career. I think it's
- 13:14Speaker 1: a fair thing for me to say that we have
- 13:16Speaker 1: adopted a certain measure of revisionist history, and that's before
- 13:19Speaker 1: we get to Orlovsky trying to say that he is
- 13:21Speaker 1: one of the five greatest quarterbacks of all time. Okay?
- 13:27Speaker 1: Or is on that list. This is all I'm saying
- 13:31Speaker 1: because I want to be fair to the Rams. This
- 13:33Speaker 1: is not the roster that people thought could go 17-0.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Guys being hurt. Now granted, I think that people were
- 13:41Speaker 1: a little too optimistic about Aaron Donald given that He
- 13:45Speaker 1: quit playing football and didn't do it for two years.
- 13:47Speaker 1: And there was probably a reason.
- 13:49Speaker 3: And he not just quit for two years, talked about
- 13:51Speaker 3: quitting for two years prior.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Correct.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Correct. Right. Miles Garrett obviously has not played because he
- 13:57Speaker 1: has been hurt. We've seen Puka be hurt. We just
- 13:59Speaker 1: saw Devontae Adams get hurt in this last game. I
- 14:04Speaker 1: just want to be clear that things have not gone
- 14:07Speaker 1: the way that they thought they would in ways that
- 14:09Speaker 1: are beyond people's control with this team. Just throwing that
- 14:12Speaker 1: out there. At the same time, a big part of
- 14:17Speaker 1: why the Stafford Hall of Fame thing had always gotten
- 14:20Speaker 1: on my nerves, just the revision that we had, was
- 14:25Speaker 1: the Lions weren't always terrible when he was there. Now, understand,
- 14:28Speaker 1: we dating back to before, you know, I became their
- 14:32Speaker 1: good luck charm. You know, I'm going before that. But
- 14:36Speaker 1: like that, the Roman Caldwell was there for those four years.
- 14:38Speaker 1: And I think that a winning record those three years
- 14:39Speaker 1: and they went to the playoffs a couple of those years.
- 14:43Speaker 1: He did play with Calvin Johnson for a while. It
- 14:46Speaker 1: was there were also some bad teams. I don't want
- 14:48Speaker 1: to act like they're not. However, can you name for
- 14:53Speaker 1: me the time that Stafford elevated the level of play
- 14:58Speaker 1: of that team? Because none of us felt at any
- 15:02Speaker 1: point like we were watching a guy who was just
- 15:06Speaker 1: so excellent and consistently being sabotaged by the team that
- 15:09Speaker 1: he played for. And you know if people felt that way,
- 15:12Speaker 1: that would have come up. It didn't. That wasn't him.
- 15:16Speaker 1: You go look at the numbers he put up and
- 15:17Speaker 1: everything else. He could not elevate them, okay? That's not
- 15:22Speaker 1: to say that he was a bad quarterback. That's not
- 15:24Speaker 1: to say that he wasn't talented, okay? But he is
- 15:27Speaker 1: three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Matthew Stafford. That's who he is.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Never saw him elevate a team there. If Stafford is
- 15:36Speaker 1: the guy, even though he is– old at this point
- 15:40Speaker 1: I believe this is now year 17 for Matthew Stafford
- 15:42Speaker 1: but he just won an MVP last year the quarterback
- 15:45Speaker 1: that you've been trying to tell me that he is
- 15:48Speaker 1: and has been should be a guy that could elevate
- 15:51Speaker 1: this team and I don't think that's what's happening what
- 15:54Speaker 1: seems to me to be the case is he is
- 15:56Speaker 1: in a lot of ways the high end of the
- 15:59Speaker 1: Sean McVay dream which is how about you just go
- 16:01Speaker 1: out there and do what I say but he can
- 16:04Speaker 1: do trick shots, right? Like he do all those Mahomes
- 16:06Speaker 1: type passes and everything else. But he is what he's
- 16:10Speaker 1: always been, which is a dude while capable of playing well,
- 16:13Speaker 1: who is not probably going to elevate your team. And
- 16:16Speaker 1: right now the Rams need somebody to elevate the team.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Hey man, it's getting dicey out here. Remember the thing
- 16:23Speaker 1: that I said about the Seahawks before that Thursday night game,
- 16:26Speaker 1: and they lost that game that in all likelihood, they
- 16:29Speaker 1: were going to come out of that three games behind
- 16:32Speaker 1: the division leader. It looks like the Rams are about
- 16:36Speaker 1: to be four games behind the division leader. They are
- 16:40Speaker 1: at two and four. The only place where a team
- 16:44Speaker 1: has a chance to be two and four and make
- 16:47Speaker 1: the playoffs to me is in the NFC East and
- 16:52Speaker 1: in the NFC South.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Right.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Right. Because two and four in the NFC South puts
- 16:56Speaker 1: you in second place. Two and four in the NFC.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Two and four gets you a 63% chance of winning
- 17:05Speaker 1: the division per the ESPN numbers. Right. Two and four
- 17:08Speaker 1: in the West. <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> Boy,
- 17:13Speaker 1: they got problems. The only thing that might be saving them,
- 17:15Speaker 1: and it's not even really doing that, is that Seattle
- 17:17Speaker 1: has to play Kansas City next week. So they might
- 17:19Speaker 1: wind up taking another L because people are getting hip
- 17:22Speaker 1: to saying Darnold, like I've been trying to tell y'all
- 17:24Speaker 1: about saying Darnold. Says weak. I never, I stood on my,
- 17:29Speaker 1: without even a Super Bowl. They won the Super Bowl
- 17:32Speaker 1: and I refused to move off my score. I stayed 10.
- 17:35Speaker 1: It's a debt. This is the thing I give my
- 17:38Speaker 1: buddy Nick credit for, boy. He don't give up on
- 17:40Speaker 1: being right.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Nope.
- 17:41Speaker 1: He plays that game of chicken all the way to
- 17:43Speaker 1: the end. He ain't giving up. He has to be right.
- 17:45Speaker 1: I'll bail. I'll be like, hey, I don't know about it.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Not this time. I stayed on this. And they talk
- 17:50Speaker 1: about bringing Drew Locke back. OK, all I'm saying is
- 17:54Speaker 1: this division that we thought was maybe was probably going
- 17:56Speaker 1: to be the best division in the NFL, even though
- 18:00Speaker 1: the NFC North was right there. This division may wind
- 18:03Speaker 1: up only being one team go to the playoffs. And
- 18:05Speaker 1: that team is not going to be the Los Angeles Rams.
- 18:10Speaker 1: And that even if you didn't think they was going
- 18:12Speaker 1: to go undefeated, you ain't think.
- 18:14Speaker 3: That was going to happen.
- 18:18Speaker 1: All right, we're back. Those are the NFC teams, the
- 18:21Speaker 1: AFC teams. I feel like, you know, the Browns would
- 18:28Speaker 1: be a feel-good story this year. If it wasn't for
- 18:34Speaker 1: Nasty D. Nasty D is really messing it up. The
- 18:39Speaker 1: Browns are in first place.
- 18:41Speaker 3: I'm surprised they don't play those games on Paramount +.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Oh, my God, yes. It's a tie for first place.
- 18:47Speaker 1: But they are in first place. Now, to be fair,
- 18:50Speaker 1: I didn't realize this, but over the years, they've done
- 18:52Speaker 1: this to us a few times. Mike Pettin had a
- 18:56Speaker 1: year where they started 7-4, and then they ended the
- 18:58Speaker 1: season 7-9.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Was that the Josh Gordon year?
- 19:01Speaker 1: Yes, it was. Kyle Shanahan is the offensive coordinator. Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 1: They do this. This happens every now and then. But
- 19:09Speaker 1: none of us thought this was going to happen. Poor
- 19:11Speaker 1: Kevin Clark. I see they rolling his ass on the
- 19:13Speaker 1: internet because he had the audacity to get on TV
- 19:15Speaker 1: and say the Browns would go 3-14. Like, you didn't
- 19:18Speaker 1: think they would go 3-14. Like, everybody didn't think they
- 19:21Speaker 1: would go 3-14. Like, they might not be better off
- 19:24Speaker 1: if they go 3-14 because if they keep doing this,
- 19:27Speaker 1: guess who's going to be the quarterback next year? That's right.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Nasty D. Cause they not going to be able to
- 19:33Speaker 1: draft one. Or if they win too many games and
- 19:36Speaker 1: they wait too late, you know, the quarterback that's going
- 19:38Speaker 1: to be there for them to draft arch. And that's how,
- 19:40Speaker 1: you know, they going to be sorry. And he going
- 19:42Speaker 1: to be sorry. So you wound up going to play
- 19:44Speaker 1: for them. However, shout out to you, Cleveland Browns, four,
- 19:50Speaker 1: first place. Now, that is with the Steelers team that
- 19:53Speaker 1: just beat Tampa Bay that I don't think any of
- 19:55Speaker 1: us think is good because Aaron Rodgers is not good.
- 19:58Speaker 1: And shout out to the Baltimore Ravens. They lost that
- 20:00Speaker 1: game to Cleveland, but they're 4-2 and they've had Lamar
- 20:02Speaker 1: Jackson out. But for right now, I guess we have
- 20:06Speaker 1: to allow it to stay present. Good for you, Cleveland Browns.
- 20:10Speaker 1: And it keeps happening without Nasty D actually playing well. Again,
- 20:14Speaker 1: remember when he said they'd only be happy if he
- 20:16Speaker 1: threw for like 800 yards? No, Nasty D. That's not
- 20:20Speaker 1: the issue. But please understand this. The first time you
- 20:24Speaker 1: lose a game, they are going to remember that you
- 20:27Speaker 1: have not actually been good.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Of course.
- 20:29Speaker 1: They will not forget. But anyway, they are in first place.
- 20:34Speaker 1: The big galoot had a real– he was galooting for
- 20:37Speaker 1: the Raiders. That crazy flip pass.
- 20:41Speaker 3: That's full galoot.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Hey, man, let me tell you something that I thought halfway.
- 20:44Speaker 1: It was full galoot, and I am amazed that he
- 20:46Speaker 1: could backhand flip it as far as he did. But
- 20:49Speaker 1: that was not the most amazing play that I've ever
- 20:52Speaker 1: seen in my life.
- 20:53Speaker 4: No.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I left my house. They would talk about that on TV.
- 20:56Speaker 1: They were so excited to see him throw that backhand.
- 21:00Speaker 1: So I went to go see my man Sergio play
- 21:03Speaker 1: Barclays this weekend. Very interesting to go to a concert
- 21:06Speaker 1: for an artist that you love and be with 10,000
- 21:09Speaker 1: people that not only would you never hang out with,
- 21:12Speaker 1: I can conclude that they would not hang out with
- 21:14Speaker 1: me because halfway through the concert, I noticed my whole
- 21:16Speaker 1: row had moved to other seats. Don't know why. Have
- 21:21Speaker 1: no idea. Worked out well for me. I just pulled
- 21:25Speaker 1: out my party favor. It was like, cool, less people
- 21:27Speaker 1: to complain. But anyway, I realized something while I was
- 21:30Speaker 1: at that concert. Because Sturgeon got a dude. I hope
- 21:33Speaker 1: he get paid extra for this. He played the keys
- 21:35Speaker 1: and he played the saxophone. And white people are amazed
- 21:38Speaker 1: by saxophones. Dude, I know why. But as soon as
- 21:41Speaker 1: that man would play one note on a saxophone, man,
- 21:44Speaker 1: you would just see the look. People just completely overwhelmed, shocked,
- 21:47Speaker 1: couldn't believe what it was that they were seeing. I
- 21:50Speaker 1: feel like I see people play saxophones fairly often. It's
- 21:52Speaker 1: very good to see somebody play a saxophone impressively, but
- 21:54Speaker 1: it puts white people in a trance. And that's what
- 21:56Speaker 1: happens when Josh Allen do that Jaheim stuff. People used
- 22:01Speaker 1: to say, I called Josh Allen Jaheim. That was not true.
- 22:03Speaker 1: What I used to say was, if Josh Allen's name
- 22:05Speaker 1: was Jaheim, they would call different plays, and he would
- 22:08Speaker 1: be a more successful NFL quarterback, and then immediately they
- 22:11Speaker 1: started running Jaheim plays, and after they started running their
- 22:14Speaker 1: Jaheim plays, look, He became the big glue. He became
- 22:18Speaker 1: what we have all seen. I felt like him being
- 22:20Speaker 1: in the pocket, running around, doing athletic things, and then
- 22:23Speaker 1: hitting them with a little no-look backhand or whatever. That
- 22:26Speaker 1: was real Jahimi, which is to say that was Josh
- 22:29Speaker 1: Allen playing the saxophone, and the whites are ecstatic.
- 22:33Speaker 3: That's closer to throwing it over your shoulder in a
- 22:36Speaker 3: square body than people want to admit.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Yes, it is. Yes, it is. Did you hear what
- 22:39Speaker 1: he said? He said he knew what he threw, and
- 22:40Speaker 1: it would either be a touchdown or an interception. He
- 22:42Speaker 1: just did it. You know what that sounds like to me, Ryan? Duh-pee.
- 22:49Speaker 1: That's a heavy dose of WP right there. Hey, man,
- 22:53Speaker 1: just do it. Who cares? Just do whatever you want, right?
- 22:56Speaker 3: It usually works out.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Why wouldn't it this time? Yeah, yeah. What's the worst
- 22:59Speaker 1: that could happen? That's that priv, man. That priv just
- 23:03Speaker 1: jumped off the screen. Anyway, he was beasting, and I
- 23:06Speaker 1: cannot tell if the Raiders are good. Can you? It
- 23:10Speaker 1: seemed to be entertaining. People seemed to be having a
- 23:12Speaker 1: good time with it. They played close enough in this
- 23:14Speaker 1: game against a very good team. I think we felt
- 23:16Speaker 1: that same way about the Chiefs game, though they did
- 23:18Speaker 1: not play well against New England. I have no idea
- 23:22Speaker 1: what's going on there. I can't tell, but I can
- 23:23Speaker 1: tell this. They're not bad. And that's, that's gotta be
- 23:28Speaker 1: good enough. Right? My thought, and I haven't seen any
- 23:31Speaker 1: footage of it. Bill's mafia comes to, uh, Las Vegas.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I have to say, sounds quite terrifying.
- 23:37Speaker 4: Yes.
- 23:38Speaker 1: And it also sounds like a lot of people staying
- 23:41Speaker 1: at hotels that I would not stay at. Save a little,
- 23:45Speaker 1: save a little dough, I guess.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Um, You're saying they're crashing through tables at New York,
- 23:52Speaker 3: New York.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Circus, circus. That's what I'm saying. They all the place.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Like the people from California, the way they talk about
- 23:58Speaker 1: Vegas is different because they go up the chain in
- 24:01Speaker 1: Vegas because it's just like a 30-minute flight or whatever.
- 24:03Speaker 1: And so they start with circus, circus, and then they
- 24:05Speaker 1: build all the way up to the different places or whatever.
- 24:09Speaker 1: So they know all the spots. I feel like Buffalo
- 24:14Speaker 1: probably had a lot of intro level casinoing. I could
- 24:19Speaker 1: be wrong. I could be wrong. But if I was
- 24:23Speaker 1: working at the Luxor, I would be terrified to hear
- 24:26Speaker 1: that Bill's Mafia was pulling up.
- 24:28Speaker 3: A lot of people in Treasure Island staying on 16.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Wow, it's really loud at the Excalibur. Whoa, buddy. By
- 24:36Speaker 1: the way, as we speak, it's 11.12 a.m. Eastern Time.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Has Mike McDaniel been fired yet is the question that
- 24:42Speaker 1: you'll be asking yourselves as you're listening to this show
- 24:45Speaker 1: because somebody is. in los angeles for the charges has
- 24:48Speaker 1: to get fired somebody and he's the guy that that's
- 24:53Speaker 1: got a hardball couldn't really be enthusiastic about it i
- 24:56Speaker 1: am shocked they're on six i am shocked shocked shocked
- 24:59Speaker 1: but let me tell you this what could be great
- 25:00Speaker 1: for them about being on six if they get high
- 25:03Speaker 1: enough to get a quarterback that they honestly don't need
- 25:05Speaker 1: like you don't give up on herbert yet but you
- 25:07Speaker 1: could change the game i oh you ryan jumped up
- 25:10Speaker 1: in his seat like i said something crazy.
- 25:12Speaker 3: I mean how many games they got to lose in
- 25:14Speaker 3: a row.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I don't know, but is it better for you to
- 25:19Speaker 1: try to take a quarterback in the first round or
- 25:21Speaker 1: to turn that pick into some other stuff?
- 25:24Speaker 3: I understand what might be better, but I'm just... Justin
- 25:29Speaker 3: Herbert's so bad, I can't remember him being a good quarterback,
- 25:32Speaker 3: and Jim Harbaugh's so bad, I don't remember him being
- 25:34Speaker 3: a good coach.
- 25:34Speaker 1: That's fair, and the last time we saw him being
- 25:36Speaker 1: a good coach, they was cheating. yeah we can't lose
- 25:41Speaker 1: sight of that fact right they was counting cards the
- 25:44Speaker 1: last time that we saw him they.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Were doing they were doing just fine the big 10
- 25:47Speaker 3: and then they started cheating and then they won the national.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Right you know what it was like it was like
- 25:54Speaker 1: when uh mark mcguire started hitting home runs again yes
- 25:57Speaker 1: all right it was like wow i guess he finally
- 25:59Speaker 1: started timing those pitches up wonder wonder what that's about
- 26:07Speaker 1: The NBA is back on prize picks. Pick a shootout

- 26:20Speaker 1: Just a reminder, LeBron James is old, so there are

- 26:27Speaker 1: less on his points, rebounds, and assists from time to time.
- 26:31Speaker 1: But just because the association is back doesn't mean football
- 26:34Speaker 1: is slowing down. Make your NBA picks like points and rebounds,

- 28:54Speaker 2: If you haven't heard.
- 28:55Speaker 3: All right, Bo, if you haven't heard, presented by PrizePix.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Interesting development during the Bills-Raiders game. Jim Nance appeared to
- 29:05Speaker 3: try to peanut punch the ball out of J.J. Watt's
- 29:07Speaker 3: hand and was seen wearing a bandage shortly after on
- 29:12Speaker 3: the broadcast. Looked a lot like he broke his wrist. Bo,
- 29:15Speaker 3: what was your reaction to this kerfuffle in the booth?
- 29:18Speaker 1: Hey, man, this is the thing about professional athletes, right?
- 29:21Speaker 1: It's two things that we had happen here, right? I
- 29:23Speaker 1: want to start with a statement on professional athletes, and
- 29:26Speaker 1: then I want to move on to something about toxic
- 29:29Speaker 1: masculinity because these things are kind of tied together, right?
- 29:33Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys saw this. i mean
- 29:36Speaker 1: get back to this part the rams had a fat
- 29:39Speaker 1: kicker last week and they released him because he wasn't
- 29:44Speaker 1: making kicks and so sometimes you break up with somebody
- 29:50Speaker 1: i guess and you get that complete opposite so they
- 29:53Speaker 1: had a fat kicker who wore number 92 and And
- 29:55Speaker 1: they replace him with a young man who is 5'7,
- 29:59Speaker 1: 156 pounds. Just to give you perspective, I weigh more
- 30:03Speaker 1: than 156 pounds. Anyway, it's a kickoff. The Cardinals got
- 30:09Speaker 1: a guy going up the sideline, and the kicker decided
- 30:13Speaker 1: not on his watch, right? He going to show them boys.
- 30:15Speaker 1: He going to show them boys that he a real
- 30:17Speaker 1: football player. He going to show them he one of
- 30:18Speaker 1: the guys. Man, he went and hit that dude, and
- 30:20Speaker 1: he ain't play no more. It was some knee injury
- 30:23Speaker 1: or whatever, but he was out here. You're not going
- 30:25Speaker 1: to convince me he wasn't out here trying to prove something.
- 30:27Speaker 1: He tried to prove something, and he proved something that
- 30:30Speaker 1: had already been proven, which is that that guy weighed
- 30:32Speaker 1: 156 pounds, okay? But that was that toxic masculinity, all right? Now,
- 30:38Speaker 1: let's bring that back to J.J. Watt. So J.J. Watt
- 30:42Speaker 1: was talking about all these guys, the peanut punch. And
- 30:46Speaker 1: the peanut punch comes, I think, comes from underneath.
- 30:50Speaker 4: Yes.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Right? Well, either way it goes. I can't remember which
- 30:52Speaker 1: direction the peanut punch comes from, but he was giving
- 30:55Speaker 1: some explanation as to how the guys take the football
- 30:58Speaker 1: and they bring it up top, right? And they hold it.
- 31:01Speaker 1: like right here and that way it's real close to
- 31:03Speaker 1: the body and so to demonstrate that how impossible it
- 31:07Speaker 1: would be to force a fumble he tells Jim Nance
- 31:10Speaker 1: all right now punch it as hard as you can
- 31:12Speaker 1: it's okay let's take it this is where Zach Morris
- 31:16Speaker 1: would do the timeout and everybody would freeze okay I
- 31:21Speaker 1: understand that there's a point to be made here that
- 31:24Speaker 1: guys are holding the ball differently and it makes it
- 31:26Speaker 1: more difficult to force a fumble if you do that
- 31:30Speaker 1: But what is not going to convince me of the
- 31:32Speaker 1: effectiveness of that approach is showing me that not even
- 31:38Speaker 1: 67-year-old Jim Nance can force a fumble under these circumstances.
- 31:44Speaker 1: What the fuck does that prove? Right. And so he
- 31:48Speaker 1: tells Jim Nance, hit it as hard as you can.
- 31:51Speaker 1: And Jim Nance says, are you sure? And he goes, yeah,
- 31:54Speaker 1: because Jim Nance is saying to himself, well, JJ wouldn't
- 31:57Speaker 1: ask me to do something that I could not do.
- 32:02Speaker 3: Or not that I could not do that could possibly
- 32:05Speaker 3: hurt myself if it goes poorly.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Yeah, why would I do that, right? JJ understands what's
- 32:09Speaker 1: going on here. And we then were left in a
- 32:13Speaker 1: situation where I think Jim Nance should have asked himself
- 32:15Speaker 1: two questions. Number one, have you ever thrown a punch
- 32:19Speaker 1: in a competitive fashion? And number two, have you ever, like,
- 32:24Speaker 1: touched a football before in your life? Because I don't
- 32:27Speaker 1: think that he thought about any of these things. And
- 32:29Speaker 1: so he goes and he cocks back a little bit.
- 32:33Speaker 1: And I'm going to press timeout again because I go
- 32:36Speaker 1: back to J.J. Watt and this is all his fault.
- 32:39Speaker 1: And this is why it's all J.J. Watt's fault.
- 32:41Speaker 5: J.J.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Watt did this thing that professional athletes do, which is
- 32:46Speaker 1: they forget that the rest of us are not professional
- 32:50Speaker 1: athletes anymore. they often forget that we are just regular
- 32:54Speaker 1: people and y'all are in a different world. Right.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Right.
- 32:57Speaker 1: I remember when I told you about that time, that adapter,
- 32:59Speaker 1: Brendan Haywood, and I was just shaking off that shoulder
- 33:02Speaker 1: injury and he sent me back like two more months
- 33:04Speaker 1: and all he was trying to do was give me
- 33:06Speaker 1: enthusiastic dap as you do for someone you respect, but
- 33:10Speaker 1: he forgot. I'm not a professional athlete. Shit was, shit
- 33:13Speaker 1: was dangling. It was, it was a real tough.
- 33:16Speaker 3: So I mean, not to make assumptions about Brendan Haywood,
- 33:18Speaker 3: but I'm going to take a wild guess and say that, uh, J.J.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Watt puts more time in the weight room.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Oh, buddy, let me tell you something. Maybe he does
- 33:27Speaker 1: do not underestimate the strength level. Keep in mind, those
- 33:30Speaker 1: are what they call long levers. He's seven feet tall.
- 33:33Speaker 1: All right? So anyway, back to J.J. Watt. Jim Dance
- 33:36Speaker 1: throws that punch, and he hits that ball, and immediately,
- 33:40Speaker 1: he doesn't even give it the big shake because it
- 33:42Speaker 1: hurts too much. He's just, ooh. He didn't make the noise,
- 33:46Speaker 1: but you could see it on his face.
- 33:48Speaker 3: Yeah, he had the Looney Tunes.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Oh, man. You saw he tried to hold it together.
- 33:54Speaker 1: And the only reason he did that was toxic masculinity.
- 33:58Speaker 1: He wanted to show JJ that he could hit. Nah, man.
- 34:01Speaker 1: It should have been, to me, very obvious. You just
- 34:03Speaker 1: need to be like, I'll take your word for it, partner.
- 34:07Speaker 1: No need for me to do that.
- 34:08Speaker 3: Just give it a friendly tap.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Right.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Next thing you know, instead, they show Jim Nance and
- 34:12Speaker 1: this shit is bandaged up. Not even like a tight bandage.
- 34:15Speaker 1: It was just like something to demonstrate to people. Like,
- 34:17Speaker 1: I think it's a bit. And I saw somebody be like,
- 34:19Speaker 1: did Jim Nance strike? He was the guy that does bits.
- 34:23Speaker 1: It wasn't no bit. It was a bit broken.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Certainly bits where he is the butt of the joke. Yes.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Yeah. And in the right hand is good hand. Damn.
- 34:33Speaker 1: And again, J.J. Watt told him it would be OK.
- 34:38Speaker 1: It was not OK. We go find out how much J.J.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Watt is liked by Jim Nance, because keep in mind, J.J.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Watt just a substitute teacher. There's a world in which,
- 34:49Speaker 1: you know what? If you CBS, Jim Nance is going
- 34:51Speaker 1: to go to the general manager and be like, yo,
- 34:53Speaker 1: I want him traded. And CBS is going to call
- 34:55Speaker 1: ESPN and be like, hey, I hear Aikman's on the block.
- 34:59Speaker 1: You know, how about you make the look? JJ still
- 35:02Speaker 1: got three years left on his deal, right? How about
- 35:04Speaker 1: you let us get that expiring contract? You get a
- 35:06Speaker 1: younger guy, a little bit of a higher upside. What
- 35:09Speaker 1: do you say? What do you say? If it doesn't
- 35:10Speaker 1: work out now, you can just move him down to
- 35:12Speaker 1: the bench, you know, and then, you know, while Kelsey's
- 35:15Speaker 1: getting ready, you can just put him right here. How's
- 35:18Speaker 1: that sound?
- 35:19Speaker 3: You'd say Romo didn't prepare, but at least I never
- 35:22Speaker 3: hurt myself.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Look, look, look, look, look, look.
- 35:26Speaker 1: This is why I need to start a media podcast.
- 35:29Speaker 1: That gets you into sports right there on what it
- 35:31Speaker 1: is they need to do. Like, that's it. Hey, look,
- 35:35Speaker 1: you're right. At least Romo never hurt himself, and I
- 35:37Speaker 1: don't know why all this made me think about, do
- 35:39Speaker 1: you remember that time that Mark Sanchez was in Indianapolis
- 35:42Speaker 1: and got himself stabbed? He got stabbed and arrested. I
- 35:51Speaker 1: know that shouldn't be funny.
- 35:53Speaker 3: It was about a year ago today.
- 35:55Speaker 1: That shit was so crazy. We can't forget about that
- 35:59Speaker 1: because somebody put that one on court TV. Imagine being
- 36:05Speaker 1: in jail and you got jabbed up. It was your,
- 36:08Speaker 1: and you deserved it. Damn. Whew.
- 36:12Speaker 3: All right, it looks, switching gears, looks like the college
- 36:16Speaker 3: football playoff will be expanding from 12 to 24 teams
- 36:19Speaker 3: starting in the 2027 season. Looks like there will be
- 36:22Speaker 3: guaranteed spots for the Power 4 champions and the highest
- 36:25Speaker 3: group of six with 19 at-large selections. Bo, what was
- 36:29Speaker 3: your reaction to this news?
- 36:30Speaker 1: Who is this helping? What this does not feel to
- 36:34Speaker 1: me is like a Pareto-optimal solution, right? And a Pareto...
- 36:41Speaker 1: I don't even know if I'm using that right. This
- 36:42Speaker 1: is what I mean. You would think that if you
- 36:46Speaker 1: move off of one outcome to another outcome, then all
- 36:51Speaker 1: the parties involved in moving to that new outcome will
- 36:54Speaker 1: improve their situation.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Right.
- 36:57Speaker 1: And so you're at a parade of optimal solution when
- 36:59Speaker 1: in order to move off of where you are, people
- 37:01Speaker 1: have to get worse off. And maybe that's where we
- 37:03Speaker 1: were before, because I don't I don't understand who exactly
- 37:08Speaker 1: it is that this helps. I'll talk about it on
- 37:11Speaker 1: a couple of different levels. I've seen the argument that
- 37:16Speaker 1: basically the idea of expanding the playoff is a win
- 37:20Speaker 1: for like general, or not general managers, but like athletic
- 37:23Speaker 1: directors or people that run football programs because they'll have
- 37:26Speaker 1: a shingle that they can hang them and say, hey, well,
- 37:28Speaker 1: we made the playoff this year. We made the playoff
- 37:31Speaker 1: X amount of years. But that one doesn't make sense
- 37:34Speaker 1: to me because people are smarter than that. Or at
- 37:38Speaker 1: the very least, fans are smarter than that. Like, you
- 37:40Speaker 1: think Camden DeBoer is going to be able to go
- 37:41Speaker 1: out there and tell people, hey, well, we finished number
- 37:44Speaker 1: 24 three years in a row. You think that's going
- 37:46Speaker 1: to save him? You understand what I'm saying?
- 37:48Speaker 3: Like.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Who is that? Just the idea of making this playoff.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I don't feel like that in the end is actually
- 37:55Speaker 1: going to help anybody by being able to say you
- 37:58Speaker 1: had that accomplishment. It's kind of how back in the day,
- 38:01Speaker 1: every year when it got close to the tournament working
- 38:03Speaker 1: in the ACC, Seth Greenberg would pop up somewhere with
- 38:05Speaker 1: a team that was on the bubble and his pitch
- 38:07Speaker 1: at the tournament should be expanded to 96. People know better.
- 38:12Speaker 1: They know that scam. They're going to see through that scam.
- 38:16Speaker 1: You could talk about it as maybe allowing things to
- 38:18Speaker 1: be more inclusive, and now, oh, the team's in the
- 38:21Speaker 1: Big 12. They'll have a better chance of getting in
- 38:23Speaker 1: or whatever. I hear you, but I still say, I
- 38:25Speaker 1: think people are going to see through that part. I
- 38:27Speaker 1: don't think that making this 24 doesn't make for a
- 38:30Speaker 1: real enjoyable situation. The other thing I would say about
- 38:34Speaker 1: making a 24 that's not going to be a win is,
- 38:36Speaker 1: we already see this now with the playoff as it stands.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Those aren't competitive games in that first round. Last year
- 38:43Speaker 1: was better than the year before. But the year before,
- 38:45Speaker 1: we just saw a slate of blowouts. And it winds
- 38:48Speaker 1: up involving home teams, which, again, a big deal in
- 38:52Speaker 1: college sports. So I don't feel like that first round
- 38:56Speaker 1: of games that you're going to get where the number
- 38:58Speaker 1: 19 plays the 24 or whatever it is. We've seen
- 39:01Speaker 1: when you let the James Madisons of the world in there,
- 39:04Speaker 1: they go in there and get their asses kicked. They
- 39:05Speaker 1: don't have any business playing on the same level as them.
- 39:08Speaker 1: So to me, I don't feel like the playoff that
- 39:10Speaker 1: you're going to get is really that enjoyable. People will
- 39:15Speaker 1: watch it, but that doesn't mean that it's really enjoyable, right?
- 39:19Speaker 1: You put it on TV, people watch ball games. You
- 39:23Speaker 1: understand what I'm saying? Using television ratings as the metric
- 39:27Speaker 1: as to whether or not people are enjoying what's going
- 39:29Speaker 1: on is a terrible terrible rule i think you may
- 39:32Speaker 1: have more people watching but the overall enjoyment level i'm
- 39:36Speaker 1: not sure it necessarily is any higher.
- 39:38Speaker 3: It's to me it's like i just don't see a
- 39:41Speaker 3: world People don't think there are 24 good college football teams.
- 39:45Speaker 4: Bingo.
- 39:45Speaker 1: That's not how this works, right? That's not how this goes.
- 39:48Speaker 1: This is the thing that gets me, though, and where
- 39:50Speaker 1: I'm somewhat fascinated by the fact that the SEC decided
- 39:54Speaker 1: to do this. I would make this argument. The most
- 39:59Speaker 1: anticipated college football game every year has not– it was
- 40:05Speaker 1: not toward the end the BCS championship game. It was
- 40:09Speaker 1: not the CFP. national championship game year in year out
- 40:15Speaker 1: the game that you could count on was the sec
- 40:20Speaker 1: championship it has been that way basically for at least
- 40:24Speaker 1: the last 20 years and one thing the sec championship
- 40:28Speaker 1: did was make a lot of money for the sec
- 40:33Speaker 1: right This new playoff plan is not going to make
- 40:38Speaker 1: them significantly more money than the championship game would. It's
- 40:44Speaker 1: not going to do it. When you see the numbers
- 40:46Speaker 1: about how however many millions of dollars it's going to
- 40:48Speaker 1: bring in, something like $ 345 million over the time or whatever,
- 40:53Speaker 1: for the SEC, that's not going to be a noteworthy
- 40:57Speaker 1: increase over what they get from an SEC championship game
- 41:01Speaker 1: that your fans like. Why would you just toss that?
- 41:06Speaker 1: And this is the last thing, right? I've seen people
- 41:10Speaker 1: make the argument that it would be, instead of having
- 41:14Speaker 1: the Pop-Tarts Bowl, you have playoff games instead. But the
- 41:17Speaker 1: Pop-Tarts Bowl is supposed to have reasonably matched opponents against
- 41:20Speaker 1: each other. The playoff is not supposed to do that.
- 41:22Speaker 1: It's supposed to be tiered or whatever it is. But
- 41:25Speaker 1: something that I think we're underrating here is a lot
- 41:30Speaker 1: more teams are now going to end their seasons with
- 41:33Speaker 1: a loss. And one of the charms of this, actually,
- 41:38Speaker 1: with the bowl system and what it was, is that
- 41:41Speaker 1: a lot more teams would leave their seasons with cause
- 41:43Speaker 1: for optimism. That's not what you get when you set
- 41:48Speaker 1: up a bracket like this. Like, it's going to feel
- 41:51Speaker 1: bad for a lot more people on the way out.
- 41:53Speaker 1: And I'm not one of those people that's like, everything
- 41:55Speaker 1: is supposed to feel good, but everything ain't supposed to
- 41:58Speaker 1: feel bad. Right? It's not supposed to be a bummer
- 42:01Speaker 1: for everybody on the way out the door.
- 42:04Speaker 4: So.
- 42:05Speaker 1: We just get back to the same question for everybody.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Who asked for this shit? Who wants this? Why? Ryan,
- 42:11Speaker 1: it doesn't even sound like ESPN really wanted it.
- 42:13Speaker 3: Seems like they had to be talked into it kicking
- 42:15Speaker 3: and screaming.
- 42:15Speaker 1: And correct me if I'm wrong, they hadn't even got
- 42:18Speaker 1: the playoff as far along as they said it was
- 42:19Speaker 1: going to be. Are you just coming up with new?
- 42:22Speaker 1: I just don't know who got bored enough and decided this.
- 42:25Speaker 1: And I can't find anybody who likes it. Spencer always
- 42:27Speaker 1: makes the point. It'll come around and we'll find a
- 42:29Speaker 1: way to like it. And in a lot of ways,
- 42:32Speaker 1: he's probably correct. That doesn't mean that this wasn't stupid.
- 42:37Speaker 3: All right. An interesting sentence to say in 2026, there
- 42:41Speaker 3: might be new information in the OJ Simpson case. According
- 42:47Speaker 3: to the New York Times, an extremely reliable informant told
- 42:50Speaker 3: authorities about a missing murder weapon. According to newly unsealed records,
- 42:53Speaker 3: the informant's brother told the Times the sibling was at
- 42:56Speaker 3: the crime scene. Bo, we texted a lot about the
- 42:58Speaker 3: story yesterday. What were your thoughts?
- 43:00Speaker 1: Okay, so it's really two things. They get me. Number one,
- 43:05Speaker 1: I just don't know how even after 30 years, we
- 43:08Speaker 1: keep finding more and more out about the general incompetence
- 43:11Speaker 1: of the prosecution of the people who could not find
- 43:14Speaker 1: a way to convict the guiltiest man on earth.
- 43:16Speaker 5: Right.
- 43:17Speaker 1: And what we found out on this one was this
- 43:19Speaker 1: guy had gotten popped for he had been on the run.
- 43:24Speaker 1: He's in a part of the story where they said
- 43:25Speaker 1: that the federal marshal found him wearing a toupee somewhere.
- 43:28Speaker 1: I think it was it was it was a dope charge.
- 43:30Speaker 1: They got him. He was on the run for. Yes.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:32Speaker 1: So he's also dope charge and he's on the run
- 43:34Speaker 1: and he gets in there and he decides to start snitching.
- 43:37Speaker 1: And so he gets, you know, he's giving him any
- 43:39Speaker 1: information that he thinks could get him something. And then
- 43:41Speaker 1: he says, hey, basically, I helped O.J. Simpson dispose of
- 43:45Speaker 1: his clothes and the murder weapon after the murder. And
- 43:49Speaker 1: in the story, the guy's brother corroborates that he saw
- 43:51Speaker 1: him that day and he said he was helping O.J.
- 43:53Speaker 1: with something. He saw him with blood, all this stuff.
- 43:56Speaker 1: If you get the chance, read the story. It's really interesting.
- 43:59Speaker 1: But after he had given this proffer, it was after
- 44:04Speaker 1: the prosecution had rested in the O.J. case. But before
- 44:07Speaker 1: their closing arguments and somebody called them and said, hey,
- 44:10Speaker 1: we got this guy that's up here snitching and he's
- 44:12Speaker 1: got OJ information. And they were like, nah, we're good.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Man say he knew what a murder weapon was. The
- 44:19Speaker 1: murder weapon they never found.
- 44:21Speaker 3: They was like, yeah.
- 44:23Speaker 1: People just tell us crazy stuff all the time. We're good.
- 44:27Speaker 1: And then when asked to give a statement, they're like, hey, well,
- 44:30Speaker 1: obviously it wasn't credible. It would have gotten to us.
- 44:32Speaker 1: And people are like, oh, we did. We tried to
- 44:34Speaker 1: tell you guys and you just didn't want it. Talk
- 44:37Speaker 1: about nobody's ever. Nobody's. I'm not saying that Fred Goldman's
- 44:42Speaker 1: deserve to lose, but them people, them lawyers, they deserve
- 44:44Speaker 1: to lose. Ain't nobody ever deserve to lose.
- 44:46Speaker 3: They certainly didn't play to win.
- 44:47Speaker 1: They did not play to win. They just, oh my God.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Like you just read through that and you're just like, wow,
- 44:52Speaker 1: somebody wanted to give you information and y'all didn't have
- 44:55Speaker 1: one person who could just go hear them out and
- 44:57Speaker 1: see if it made sense. Not one losers. That's number one.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Number two is the winner of this. And it's going
- 45:03Speaker 1: to sound crazy to a lot of you, but the
- 45:05Speaker 1: winner is fat Joe. And so for those of you
- 45:07Speaker 1: who don't like follow this online, people talk about how
- 45:11Speaker 1: it be sounded like Fat Joe was lying. OK, he
- 45:15Speaker 1: tells these incredibly grand stories. You guys that are fans
- 45:18Speaker 1: of me, fans of HQ, you know, I will love
- 45:20Speaker 1: Joey forever because Joe came on our show and finally
- 45:23Speaker 1: told us that I got a story to tell by
- 45:26Speaker 1: Biggie Smalls. The player that he robbed was Anthony Mason.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Which Fat Joe tried to blame on us when people
- 45:33Speaker 1: got mad because Anthony Mason is dead. He was like,
- 45:35Speaker 1: y'all got us and me in trouble. Like, oh, we
- 45:37Speaker 1: got you in trouble, Joe. Word. That's what happened. I
- 45:39Speaker 1: actually got to look at him in the face and say, oh,
- 45:41Speaker 1: I got you in trouble.
- 45:42Speaker 2: Okay.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Fat Joe told this story a year ago, and it
- 45:47Speaker 1: was part of the investigation that the New York Times
- 45:50Speaker 1: did after they found out about this guy. It was
- 45:52Speaker 1: Fat Joe telling a story about smoking blunts with O.J.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Simpson at a party that this guy threw, and how
- 45:59Speaker 1: that guy's wife's name was Nicole, and he said, happy birthday, Nicole,
- 46:03Speaker 1: and gave O.J. the knife to cut the cake, and
- 46:05Speaker 1: then O.J. chased the dude around the house with the knife.
- 46:08Speaker 1: And Fat Joe tells the story, and everybody thought Fat
- 46:11Speaker 1: Joe was capping. And then Fat Joe turned out to be...
- 46:14Speaker 1: All I'm saying is Fat Joe is now the storytelling god,
- 46:18Speaker 1: because all you need is one of those to check out.
- 46:20Speaker 1: You can tell me anything, Joe, and at the very least,
- 46:23Speaker 1: I got to hear you out.
- 46:27Speaker 3: All right, Bo. A lot of good voicemails. Here's our first.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Hey, Bo.
- 46:33Speaker 6: Jonathan calling in. I wanted to talk about the Florida
- 46:36Speaker 6: State situation, and I think it's time we start calling
- 46:40Speaker 6: Norville Mike Privilege, because... You mean to tell me if
- 46:45Speaker 6: his name is Marcus, they don't find that money to
- 46:47Speaker 6: buy him out? Appreciate everything that you do.
- 46:51Speaker 1: All right, so this is the problem with what you said.
- 46:53Speaker 1: The answer to that is yes, but no. Yes, because
- 46:58Speaker 1: they found the money to get Willie out of there. However,
- 47:01Speaker 1: problem is, since they gave Willie money, they don't have
- 47:05Speaker 1: the money. Right? None of them are happy about this.
- 47:12Speaker 1: I feel very confident that they would get Mike Norvell
- 47:14Speaker 1: out of there if they could just get the money.
- 47:17Speaker 1: I don't know if you've ever listened to Johnny Taylor,
- 47:19Speaker 1: but they are in a cheaper-to-keep-a situation here. This is
- 47:23Speaker 1: not different than a significant number of marriages where these
- 47:26Speaker 1: people just can't afford to get out. They just can't.
- 47:29Speaker 1: That's all it is. That's really all it comes down to,
- 47:33Speaker 1: just can't afford to keep up to get. That was
- 47:36Speaker 1: for all you people when I mentioned white privilege about
- 47:38Speaker 1: Josh Allen who got mad. Here I am shooting down
- 47:41Speaker 1: the idea. See? See? Keep it fair over here.
- 47:45Speaker 3: All right, here's our next one.
- 47:48Speaker 5: Bomani, Ryan, hey, huge fan of the show. This is
- 47:53Speaker 5: White Damon calling from southwest Michigan. I've been told in
- 47:57Speaker 5: my lifetime that white boys are not supposed to be
- 48:01Speaker 5: named Damon. but that's not really the reason I called.
- 48:04Speaker 5: I wanted to tell you about these two sisters that
- 48:06Speaker 5: I grew up with who lived across the street, white girls.
- 48:12Speaker 5: The older sister, her name was Trina, and the younger
- 48:16Speaker 5: sister's name was Malika. I haven't really thought much about
- 48:20Speaker 5: them until you guys started doing this segment, and now
- 48:24Speaker 5: I think about them almost weekly. Thanks a lot, guys.
- 48:28Speaker 1: First of all, Ryan, I did not know that we
- 48:30Speaker 1: had gotten Damon, that Damon had come over here. I
- 48:34Speaker 1: did not know that. And number two, I need pictures
- 48:36Speaker 1: of those women. I don't know where to begin. Let
- 48:40Speaker 1: me also look at a map of Michigan so I
- 48:42Speaker 1: can see what towns are in the southwest portion.
- 48:51Speaker 5: Huh.
- 48:52Speaker 1: It ain't Detroit.
- 48:55Speaker 5: Oh. Hmm.
- 48:58Speaker 1: It's near South Bend, Indiana.
- 48:59Speaker 3: Well, that explains a lot.
- 49:01Speaker 1: I didn't know South Bend. Well, South Indiana, apparently, I
- 49:03Speaker 1: am told, is a lot less like Notre Dame than
- 49:07Speaker 1: you might think.
- 49:08Speaker 3: Oh, interesting.
- 49:09Speaker 1: I've never heard of any of these towns that keep
- 49:12Speaker 1: coming up as I keep zooming in on this map
- 49:15Speaker 1: of Michigan. But that's where Trina and Malika are. All right, then.
- 49:21Speaker 3: All right, here's our last one.
- 49:24Speaker 2: Omani, what's up, man? This is your boy Mike V
- 49:26Speaker 2: from FC. And, brother, I had to give you a
- 49:29Speaker 2: ring after the foolishness I saw last night on X.
- 49:33Speaker 4: Now, oftentimes on your show, you like to ask a
- 49:35Speaker 4: crazy question like, what.
- 49:36Speaker 2: Happened at your job or something like that. Well, my
- 49:39Speaker 2: question for you is what meeting would you want to
- 49:42Speaker 2: be a fly on the wall for? And my answer
- 49:45Speaker 2: is the LSU Athletics Department because they got to be
- 49:49Speaker 2: the Legion of Doom over there, bro. First off, you
- 49:52Speaker 2: got Lane Kiffin trying to get NFL players, and I

- 50:00Speaker 2: all kind of just foolishness, man.
- 50:04Speaker 4: And then you got Kim Mulkey. She out here recruiting
- 50:07Speaker 4: players from Ukraine and Russia. And the young lady from
- 50:10Speaker 4: Ukraine stood on business and was like, I'm not playing
- 50:14Speaker 4: with her. We legit got beef at the crib.
- 50:16Speaker 2: There's no telling what that locker room would have looked
