- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Mile High Huddle Podcast with your football freeze, Chad Jensen and Zach Kilmer.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, Broncos Country is not a geographical location.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's a state of being.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome in everybody.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's the mile-high hotel podcast.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm your host Chad Jensen with me my fellow football priest You know him.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: You love him.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: Zach Kelberman's Zach So since we were on last Monday.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of been a busy week.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about the of course the Terrible news of Alex Singleton's cancer diagnosis, but First things first real quick Your gut reaction to the Broncos bringing back a little Jordan home
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: This dude is inevitable, Chad.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos and Sean Peyton cannot quit him, although once I settled down after news of his signing came out, I realized this is more of a reflection on Trent Scherfield.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_02]: And rightly so, Scherfield was signed for a special team and his blocking prowess at receiver.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_02]: We haven't seen a net positive much of that, Chad, and the Troy Franklin screen pass that he ran into the blocker, that was a Scherfield block.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: If there's one good thing, Lil Jordan Humphrey can do, that's block along the perimeter.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_02]: I like the move.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: I just like that one thing Sean Payton said about him yesterday.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think you wrote this up, didn't he, Zach?
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: uh... just about how smarty as you said quote right i think just as we're into this run having depth we know the player really well one of his strengths is his football IQ he can play a lot of different spots and then of course you know the roster availability but he went on to talk about like you know hey we kind of have this roster spot open for now but we'll see you know like in other words if i'm a little jordan hungry i'm not getting too comfortable but the cool thing about the broncos doing it this way is
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, you sign them off the Giants practice squad in order to do so you have to bring them onto your actual 53 man roster.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: Whether that lasts a week, Zach, or two weeks, it brings them closer to the fold so like if you do have to wave them, you can just kind of stash them on your practice squad.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, true.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_02]: This could not be the last of a little Jordan Humphrey that we see even if he's caught.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's a good point.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: But again, he's familiar with the scheme.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: He played with Sean Peyton in New Orleans.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: He's one of the Sean Peyton favorites and as long as he doesn't take away one single passing route from Pat Bryant or any of the other young receivers, I can coast sign the move.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_02]: They are not getting good blocking in the screen game.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: And again, if there's one thing little Jordan Humphrey can do positively, it's contribute as a blocker in the screen game.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if he's going to rock 17 because 84 now is Caleb Loner, right?
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: So he isn't 17's available, right?
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty sure.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: So that's my prediction.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: But some hello's here, Sentinel Supreme, dear member.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, first in the chat, we're also interesting in the last four KC matchups, since VJ has been the DC Denver has held KC to an average of 11 points.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: That is interesting and blacks.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, brother?
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm here to party.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's his word when he walked up to me.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: I never met this man before.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: I knew him from the chat, but I didn't know where I kind of knew what he looked like, but I, you know, only in the sense that maybe you kind of watch a YouTube video or part of it.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: And then you meet somebody in the flesh like many weeks later, you're not necessarily going to like recognize him and he just walks up this dude walks up at the meet and greet my hey how you doing he's like I'm here to party my Oh, and blacks here is shout out good to see you buddy.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_01]: Raj the string guy
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: hate the vertical format reminds me of watching a phone video and the chat doesn't work on my computer.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's cool.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's why there's also the landscape for what it's worth.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: We're testing it out for this week.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to look at the numbers and then make a final decision.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: But thank you for your feedback, my friend.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: We got a super chat from the pop of bear.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: Very generous.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: Hope you're doing very, very well, my friend.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: He says, good evening.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: Broncos,
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, thank you so much, David, for the generous contribution and I love the positivity as always with the hashtags and let me tell you something right now, the Broncos win this game Sunday.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going to meet the 13 and 4 record.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: This is a pivotal pivotal game in Broncos lore, which we'll get into with the heads ahead.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much again, David.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt about it.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt about it.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: Much love, Papa Bear.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: We got Sandam also checking in.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: Both of them.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: Members of the community throwing down generous super is before we even went live.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: We don't take that support for granted whatsoever.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: We appreciate both you guys.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: Love you.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: He says does Sam even in guys very excited for the game on Sunday.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos have a chance to make a statement to the NFL.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: If they can fix and overcome their recent offensive struggles, I think the many by will help fix that.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: go Broncos.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we're still at a point Zach where we kind of have to view, I'll speak for myself.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: where I kind of have to view this game against the chiefs as a measuring stick.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: I want to believe that the 8 and 2 is like Bill Parcells would say, you know, you are what your record says you are.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to believe that this is every bit an 8 and 2 team.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: But the chiefs, man, this is the, I mean, outside of the Eagles, we can't overlook the Eagles game.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: which was a victory, but you throw in the Eagles, you throw in the two losses to the Colton Chargers, you face three high-quality opponents.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: I would throw the cowboys in there, for what it's worth, I would still consider the cowboys, maybe not high-high-quality, but quality upon it.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: But the chiefs, with all of the emotional, jujoo and baggage and the history and all that stuff, like there's a reason, guys, why the odds make are like the chiefs in this game.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: And some of that Zach has to do with nine straight years they won the division, nine.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: But also the fact that the offense has struggled mightily the past two weeks.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: This is a measuring stick game, to me, Zach.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: But if they win this game,
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: I will no longer view all their plan, the chiefs is a measuring stick, or their plan, the bills, or their plan, you know, marquee teams as measuring sticks.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's just marquee team versus marquee team.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_02]: Very well said.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you couldn't go ahead and speak for me because I echo that 1,000% We don't really know who the Broncos are.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: That's why there's still so many detractors and there's still so much pessimism surrounding the outlook of the Broncos season They can prove a lot of those doubters wrong with a win on Sunday and I don't care Sam if they win by 100 Sunday or by one point on Sunday That would be the the statement win of the season for them and really grass-based firm hold on the AFC West But beyond that going into the actual by week
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: I've never seen a team that could use the rest more when you have Patrick Surtan out when you have JK Dobbins out singleton out obviously Ben Powers is on IR.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: This team is beat the hell up right now and they need that break desperately.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: Man, they did a good job.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: We were marveled at how well they did avoiding the injury bug all year long.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they got deep into the season before you started really noticing the high volume.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: and the high number of key players on the injury report.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, it's getting a little sketchy here updates though.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about the injury report real quick today, since we kind of titled around it.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: So first, some good news.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: The good news is that Trent sure filled for whatever it's worth.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: who was a DNP yesterday, returned fully to practice today.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: Marvin Mims, he's going to be good to go.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's been full yesterday and today.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: And then Zach troublingly, John Franklin Myers popped up with a back.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: Now he's limited today.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: Wasn't on the interior report yesterday.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't expect it to keep him from playing, but it's something to monitor, and then of course JK Dobbins Act still two games in a row, DNP, Pat Sertan, two days in a row, DNP, so I think it's pretty safe at this stage to assume neither Dobbins nor Sertan are going to be available this week, but we got to keep an eye on Franklin Myers.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: As long as JFM gets another limited tomorrow, he'll be good to go Sunday chat.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: If he's a DNP, and he has maybe a setback, and obviously we might have a problem.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: But this is what I was saying a second ago, this team is really beat up right now.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: And they need that next week's bi-week is so freaking bad George Fox from Facebook.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: Brother, thank you.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: Good to see you says I think he probably little Jordan Humphrey has pretty good hands, so that could help.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'll close for life.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a chase for life.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: One of those glue guys, that's what I'll say.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about the hands, yeah.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: But Zach, he's more of a glue guy.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: He knows the system as well as any Bronco currently on the roster.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: And he's just maybe not a master of any specific trait or tool or whatever, but really good at a lot of things.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: I look at him like an offensive version of Alex Singleton, where he's good for what he's good for.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: If you use him in that role, he can be beneficial to your team.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: George though, I don't know about the hands.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: I seem to recall multiple fumbles and miss passes went going through a little Jordan Humphrey's hands last season and I was happy when he moved on to the Giants.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: But again, as long as they limit him to that blocking role to help out in the screen game, to take over what sure feels been doing or the lack thereof, I'm fine with it.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: We've got the wrong checking in and it is his three month, I suppose, anniversary of being a member on YouTube, love your rock.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: He says good evening, Chad and Zach on the Mile High Huddle podcast, Bill Bob Broncos, right back at you buddy.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's great to see, rock in the hissey, shout out to, we got the Mile High Dutchy, really cool.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: Let's also Zach before we, uh,
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see what's on the on the minds of the members in the chat, but before we do guys real quick listen up if you're still figuring out the whole gift thing house of Atlas is a absolute no brainer it's perfect for you it's perfect for your brother your roommate and if you know someone asked you hey what do you want for Christmas this year and you don't have to if you don't want to feel like you know.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: having to worry about it or think about it, house of Atlas, got you covered because you're going to use it and you're going to love it if you get it.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: Their grooming kits make it simple to clean up and they actually look as good on the counter as they feel in your hand.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: The razor's weighted handle, pardon me, and precision trim edge, make it effortless to get a smooth, clean shape every single time, which is something that
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: Most razors frankly don't do, and the best part, you can grab a target store's nationwide or online at target.com so you don't have to think about it.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: That's right, guys, Atlas is redefining men's grooming with premium tools and products design so look good, feel good, and actually perform.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: I love the razor because it feels solid in your hand.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's not flimsy like disposable razors and the precision trim edge makes detailing under the nose, sideburns, and edges simple and precise.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_02]: Beyond the shave, the shave cream and after shave elevate the routine with the refreshing and subtle signature scent, making grooming feel more like self-care than a chore.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm trying to get this thing out of the box.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember the one that I have in my bathroom being this hard to get out of the dot gum box.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: But that's a minor thing.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: See, this is what we're talking about.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: Phil's solid.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's nice.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's really getting a dozen good job.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: Excellent, excellent stuff.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: So don't stress over the last minute gifts or settle for shaving products that frankly don't deliver.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: This holiday season, give yourself or someone on your list, the upgrade they deserve with House of Atlas, grab it at Target's stores nationwide, or online at target.com.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: Excuse me, man, some frog and my throat, we're back at it.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see what's on the members mind.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: So, pro 16, good to see you, but Casey has not seen a defense like Denver's.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: That will be the difference.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: Got a prediction here, Broncos win 2017.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: I dig it, I really do, Sue.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: She says, a little nervous about the Casey game.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: We've got a lot of guys out.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so real quick, the guys who are cruising to be out
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: We already talked about Dobbins.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: We mentioned Sir Tan, Alex Singleton, will miss for sure this game.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's a really good chance from what I'm hearing.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: This will be the only game Singleton misses, but he's gone this week.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: Jonah Ellis, Nate Adkins, those are the guys that are crews in Ford out for week 11.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: And still obviously the Broncos have their starting left-guard van powers on injured reserve so they definitely are short-handed Sue.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: I am nervous about this game as well.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not going to even be out in the field on Sunday I don't know how I'm even predicting the game.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't got my prediction to chat yet for the roundtable I'm still kind of brewing on it.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if there's one player.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to miss more than anyone
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think Chad, it's going to be JK Dobbins because they won't have so much of that ball control offense.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_02]: He's been the engine, averaging well over four yards of carry.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's the number four running back by yards in the NFL and going from having him and Harvey to Harvey and Badeez as a big downgray when you're facing Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: Just that ease and the confidence to carry the load as the bell cow guy.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, in a Sean Peyton offense, a bell cow's 15 carries, right?
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: If you get 15 carries, you're a bell cow and Sean Peyton's scheme, but I'm just not convinced yet.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm hopeful, I'm optimistic, but I'm not certain I'm not convinced.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: RJ is ready to be that guy, but he very well could, because you think back to that Cowboys game's act where he had the, what was it?
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: believe that happened early in the game.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, one of the strengths of JK Dobbins is that he's been able to really just wear defenses down in the second half.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of that Zach is because Sean Payton doesn't really use him as much until the second half, but we'll see.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's a very kind of key situation to monitor in this game is
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: running back is RJ ready.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: Shannon Mills, a dear member of jumping in on super chat.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Shannon.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: You've been awesome lately, much love and respect.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: Myel High Salute, you're a bona fide superstar.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: Shannon says, good evening, the Broncos really need this buy and this win on Sunday, go Broncos.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Zach, if they win, imagine how great the next 14 days.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: Normally, a buy week in the middle of this, you know, where at any point in the season, that 14 days, man,
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: It starts to feel like a really long time, but if they get this win on Sunday, it'll pass I think a little bit faster for everybody.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, taking the the other round as well if they lose no matter what it's going to be a pretty miserable by week, but I'm hopeful they'll be competitive.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think they'll take it down to the wire as they showed last season at arrowhead.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: They should have won that game.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: I know I say it a lot, but it's true.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: If not for Alex Forsyth, but Shannon your point is well taken here.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously the win Sunday, but as I said a minute ago, the by week next week could not come in a better time for this team.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for the super.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, I'm a Jets fan tonight, just because the Patriots are keeping up with the Broncos and the Colts in the two loss column in the AFC.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm hoping the Jets can set them back and they drew first blood for what it's worth.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: The Jets just drove down to open the game and got it touched down and sucked a lot of time off the clock.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: DJ Capo in the house from the bayou checking in saying, what's up, Broncos fan, Rashid,
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: up, little Jordan, down, shit.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think he's saying the Broncos should have went after Rashid Shahid instead of signing a little Jordan Humphrey and he's saying why Sean Payton and he was treated to the Seahawks.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that the Broncos were ever in on him, Kapo.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: I know there was a report that they were talking to the dolphins about Jalen Waddle but Waddle's price tag was too expensive and you could argue that they should have went out and got better receiver help but again for what you're bringing a little Jordan M in for the screen game and
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: true true true.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think again, little Jordan Humphrey, especially Zach with JK Dobbins being out, it's going to be nice to have his kind of big small tight-end slash big wide receiver blocking acumen.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully it makes a difference.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: RJ Harvey as a Russia, remember the talking points in August, all he wants to bounce everything outside, he's bouncing everything outside.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, as his rookie year has progressed, man, he's gotten, he's shown some
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: development, some patients in that inside zone taking his time waiting for the blocking develop, exploding downhill.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really excited to see that book in the events especially Zach when he does go, you know what I see.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: I see an angle and break one outside, you've got to go like, load your own Humphrey there to help set the edge.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: And with how disappointing, relative to the expectations, Evan Ingraham has been at as the starting tight end.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: You mentioned a little Jordan being like a smaller tight end.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe he can help out in the middle of the field where the Broncos and Bonyx have struggled this season.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's like, you know, he's big.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's a big wide receiver.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not looking at his measurements, but six, four, two, 15 or something like maybe even heavier than that.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's 22, 25, you know?
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: 25, so, you know, he's, he's, he's a thick boy.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: Tucson fill in the house.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: What's going on, big dog, great to see ya.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: Says good evening, Chad Zach and Deacon Scott, really hope Harvey steps up this week.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see Pat Bryant make some great plays.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: The chiefs have their backs against the wall.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: They're at the point of a must-win game.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: Too bad for them, L.O.L.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: Hashtag Bookham.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of the things like Zack was saying when it comes to predicting this game.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we don't really neither Zack nor myself have to decide yet.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: Tell the roundtable pardon me, comes out tomorrow about lunchtime as when we have to kind of.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: put our chips down.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: But I too am still vacillating on how I feel this one's gonna shake out.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: But that's one of the things that keeps me vacillating, Zach is, I wouldn't necessarily say the chiefs are desperate, but they cannot afford any more losses, let alone in the division if they wanna get their 10th straight AFC crown.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: And that's, you know, desperation, especially when it's a good team, it can equate to some unfortunate things
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's exactly what I was going to say, Phil, I understand what you're trying to express here in your right, but it could be too bad for the Broncos.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_02]: Not only do the chiefs have that cornered animal mentality like Chad was talking about, they're coming off a by week.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to be arrested, they're going to be motivated, they want nothing more than to come in a Denver and get a big win over Bonyx and try to get back into the AFC West picture.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_02]: So it's going to be a battle.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be a fight and like Chad just said, I'm not even sure how the game's going to go yet.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: If the playoff started, gosh, I don't know what it is with this frog in my throat, but if the playoff started tomorrow, the chiefs would be out Zach.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: So that tells you that, man, Broncos, they're going to get their best shot.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_02]: Definitely.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's still the chiefs.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's still a divisional game.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: Look at the Raiders.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_02]: Everyone, including myself, Chad, thought it was going to be a blowout, and it should have been a blowout, but divisional games are always tough.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: And this is Patrick Mohomes, Andy Reed, Travis Kelsey, and the rest.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos have to bring it from the opening whistle.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: rock jumping in with a super chat again.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, brother.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: They say a hashtag beat the chiefs no matter what I love it, dude.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: Amen to that from your lips to the ears of the football gods.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: Zach, let's take some time.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: We're at 20 minutes.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little bit earlier in the shelving.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: We might normally do it, but let's let's go ahead and rock this head to head.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: You ready?
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: So it is Thursday.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: We're here.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: Let's knock it out.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: We'll come right back to the chat one more done.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, guys, anything that you see as we go through these headdeads, remember, feel free to ask questions or share your insights, cleanings on what you see in the chat, because we will come back to you here shortly, but Broncos ain't two chiefs five and four.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: Look at that turnover margins act.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: They're five and four, but they're plus four.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: In turnover margin, the Broncos are minus four.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: has been on it on a...
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: uh, trajectory to finish with a few more interceptions than he did last year, and uh, meanwhile, the defense has not been too great at taking the ball away.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's like the only knit you can really pick in this Broncos defense.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: Time of possessions act.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: The chiefs are ranked fifth.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_01]: So they're doing a good job.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: When you see that higher time of possession, that means they're converting on third down.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't even looked at it yet, but I'm going to assume
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: there you go, they're ninth.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: So offensively the chiefs are seventh, the yards per play.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: They're ninth points.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: They're ninth averaging 26.1.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: So basically, I feel go more than the Broncos rushing their kind of just outside the top 10, passing Zach their fifth.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, look at this is a top offense.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: And it didn't look that way early this season, Zach, but they have come on strong.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: And meanwhile, I mean, you look at their
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: Red zone 70% so the Broncos have fallen a little bit the last couple of weeks starting in that Houston game their red zone efficiency has plummeted a little bit they used to be a lot higher but the Chiefsack third, Mahomes has only been sack 17 times which compared to Bonix is 11 seems like a lot but it's not it's ranked for the eighth fewest and the only green you're seeing on the Broncos sidezack rushing they're still in the top 10, sacks allowed second fewest and then
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: I know it's not showing up there.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: First of all, going back to TOP, time of position, like he were talking about, the sheeps are almost two full minutes better than the Broncos.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: That's exactly what I was talking about a few minutes ago.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos have to find a way without JK Dobbins to keep the chains moving, keep my homes on the sideline, burn up clock, and get the ball in the end zone.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: One reason why Kansas City's offense has come back to life, not just getting Rashid Rice back at receiver, uh, Pacheco.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: The running backs are doing work.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: The grinded out kind of game.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_02]: And ironically, it's the one area there where it's not green.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_02]: And they're 12th and rushing, but still if you watch the Kansas City games, that's why it goes beyond the box score.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_02]: That's how they're converting.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: That's how they're staying on the field.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: And that's why you're seeing a top ranked offense.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_02]: So the Broncos on the defensive side have to shut down the ground game of Kansas City.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_02]: I think Pacheco's banged up anyway.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: force my homens since a third and longs and then sack his ass.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then look, I mean, they haven't even lost a fumble and my homens has only been picked off five times.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: So that explains without even looking at their defense.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: That explains why they're ranked fairly high in turn over differential.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: But when we examine these defenses, look at this, the Broncos have fallen into the bottom 10 in terms of the takeaways.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's the only metric really that kind of, you go,
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: But meanwhile, the chiefs act their sixth ranked in yards.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: Fourth in points, they're only allowing, we'll call it 18 points again.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: But barely more than the Broncos, so 17.7 to 17.3 for Denver.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: Passing their ranked seventh, they're pretty close to top 10 in against the run.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: But take away as total, they have nine.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: They've got 20 sacks, which, you know, they're barely outside the bottom 10 on that front, but they still don't let that fool you because this defense of coordinator with also having guys like Jones and Carl F.D.S.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: and all that.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: They find ways to manufacture pressure, so watch for that.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: But one of their Achilles heels, as you can see down here, Zach,
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: red zone defense isn't so hot.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, Broncos are part of me.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: First, in red zone first and third down.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: First in sex, an enormous amount already.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: Third in yards, third in scoring, fourth in rushing six in passing.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was going to kind of mark out over all the first there for the Broncos, but you did that for me.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: I talked about the knit that you can pick in your right to take away is aren't there.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's why it's the black and the red, but you can't even fault them when quarterbacks aren't getting time to set up and pass because the pass rush is so lethal.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: As long as they're stopping them on third down, opposing team, stopping them in the red zone and getting after the quarterback, you cannot give Vijay enough credit.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: it really is conspicuous that they have that many sacks because these are just the results of the pressure, right?
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: But it's constant pressure.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: Their pressure metrics are off the chains in terms of pressures, QB hits, hurries, all that stuff off the chain, and it really is conspicuous that it has not translated to more than eight takeaways and ten games.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_02]: At least a fumble recoveries.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_02]: You think a lot of those quarterback sacks would result in
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's maybe a coaching emphasis thing like, hey, outside linebackers, guys, let's start working into our practice routine, our technique, punch out drills, little things like that to like put it more front of brain for the rusher, you know, walk that line without taking away from the great job they're already doing, getting after the quarterback.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, when it comes to the punching thing from last week, I don't know if you guys saw
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: the Darren Rizzi, the special teams coordinator said about it, but he basically gave Jeremy Krasha a pass.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, look, I know fans, I'm gonna paraphrase he said, but I know fans have maybe a hard time understanding this, but there's a difference between high wind, so up in the air wind and like ground level wind.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: And in this particular game, it wasn't this way during pre-game.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: It started happening in the middle of the game,
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: it was ground level.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: And so the drops when a puncher goes through his stroke, goes up, let's releases the ball to then kick it.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: It was that side wind, and he wasn't really adjusting for it.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: And he tried to point out did Rizzi that the Rader's puncher, AJ Cole, he had a hard time too.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: Dropped him on the ground, I'm like, dude, that guy was a dagger for the Rader.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: What are you talking about?
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, back to the rankings here.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: The chiefs have one of the best special teams coordinators in the NFL, Dave Tobh, former Broncos head coaching candidate.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: What jumps out to here is that.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_02]: Well, first of all, it seems like there's a distinct accountability problem on special teams.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_02]: Doesn't it, Chad?
- 26:49[SPEAKER_02]: The other week, Sean Payton was blaming the execution.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: Now, Darren Rizzi's blaming mother nature.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: He's blaming the wind.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_02]: It happened more than once, too.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_02]: So how many times does that excuse really hold water?
- 26:59[SPEAKER_02]: But regardless here, not too much to like, there's no green on that side.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll keep my comments very simple.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: If this was a Mike Westoff or Bencott, we could coach you in it.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: I would venture to guess or be green on that side.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, here's a silver lining.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: At least the Broncos kick off coverage is no longer dead last in the NFL.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: Woo!
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: We've moved up a couple spots, so there's that.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, this none of this is good enough and hurting the numbers here has been the two game absence of Marvin Mims in terms of the return aspect.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: So that'll be that's on the up swing and then penalties the Broncos are tied for 31st most for second most I should say right.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, second most only one team has more than the Broncos 83 total and then their opponents.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: second most, which is crazy man, they just love their own flags and bronco games, whereas for the chiefs, they have the 10th fewest number of penalties, so a much more poised now.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: We can joke and commiserate and the old theories act that the chiefs favoritism of the refs and all that stuff.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: Some of that holds true when you're basically the modern New England Patriots, right?
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: You're the modern Tom Brady that gets all the calls and
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: Even Peyton Manning, guys, let's not forget during his four years here, he got a lot of calls that went his way for the Broncos, or things that weren't called because it was Peyton Manning.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: Stuff like that.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: But nevertheless, that kind of covers as far as penalties, specials, defense and offense.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if you asked 100 people, whether the chiefs would have the 10 views penalties in the NFL, 100 people would say, yes, it's more than just a theory chat, the referee for Sunday's game, Adrian Hill, the chiefs are four and oh, when Hill is the referee.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: This is beyond just a coincidence now, real quick.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just take a peek at the stats.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: Whoa, why did you do that?
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: Stats of these two teams, if it won't jump back on me.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: uh defensive tackle leaders singleton leads the way for Denver's 89 Bolton Nick Bolton who they re-signed 75 sacks parlaptists with five but needle leads the way with nine and a half.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean our third ranked guy has more than their leader.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't that crazy, right?
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's insane.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: Interceptions they have six guys with one and the Broncos would have four guys with one or
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: picking off that last one.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: And then we get to receiving yards.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_01]: Kelsey has 540.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: Sutton leads Denver with 590.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: Dobbins leads in rushing with 772.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: Pacheco with basically half that, 329.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: And then yardage in the passing game, my home says, we'll call it 200, 225 more than Bonix.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_01]: And there is your head to head for this week.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: Scott says 46 sacks would have been the sixth most in 2024 in terms of the whole season total with only four teams ahead of the Broncos that's if that had been Zach their entire number it's crazy and by the way, thank you for bringing this up Mr. producer for doing like a
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: let's look back at the trades, the Broncos have orchestrated, Devon Valle, Update, Zach going to week 11, six receptions for the Saints, six receptions for the Saints, 54 yards, but he does have a touch now.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he is also playing with a rookie quarterback.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_02]: He was playing with Spencer Rally.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: He got to cut him a little slack, but it's a point while taking because the Broncos got quite the hall in exchange for Valey.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_02]: Although I will say this, when a pass is clanking off the Troy Franklin's hands, I do miss Valey's sure hand in this a little bit.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt about it.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: George Fox, I think we'll get four sex on Sunday.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: If we do that, we win Broncos for life.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_01]: Image age for life.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_01]: Hit the thumbs up.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, buddy.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: And Black says, remember, if the game tonight is close, Drake May is regressing and the Patriots are frog.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: If it applies to bone X and the Broncos, it should apply to everybody, but we know that is not how it's going to be analyzed and the Patriots just scored.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: So they're about to tie it up.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, Taylor Christianson, my brother, great to see a time for RJ Harvey to show why he's the future go Broncos.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt about it.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: And everyone around him this week's act has been saying,
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: really good things about him.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: I wrote an article about it today, guys.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: Go give it a read at myohoodle.com.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm feeling good about it for RJ.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just not sure yet.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a 100% that he's fully ready to take on that mantle.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: And what's the last you heard on Dobbins as far as I know we don't have word yet on a second opinion.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 31:48[SPEAKER_02]: Um, what's the latest you've heard it's another drag green law situation where it seems like we're being kept in the dark by the Broncos and they don't want to let on how severe it might be.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, the good thing is he was not put on injured reserve.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_02]: So we can't be that severe.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_02]: I've heard two to four weeks.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_02]: I've heard about a month, but fortunately the Broncos do have the by week Sean Payton said they'll be evaluating Dobbins with the other players like Sir Tan and, uh,
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: single 10 in the rest, so hopefully it's on an extended absence.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm with you.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_02]: I think RJ Harvey is the future.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_02]: I love what he's done so far.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't know if he's ready in this moment for this opportunity.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_02]: And if he doesn't have 100 yard game, I just hope the fans have a little, you know, graceful.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_02]: And that's all.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: DJ Capo jumping in again, rock in his sick bone next jersey.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: He says, Zach, we both felt the same about Lil Jordan, I think, as we've talked about last year, our online this year is not good with these ER.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_02]: Why is that ever, I guess?
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: Huh?
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think he means WR for wide receiver.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: With speed, see, I'm like, the guy trying to understand.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's still, he got his kids phone and he's going through it trying to understand.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like total old guy right now.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: DJ says, with speed, Rashid, would have been better for nicks.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think that whole, why didn't the Broncos do something at the trade deadline?
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: I feel you, I'm not trying to minimize here, DJ, but I think it's been magnified by the absence of Marvin Mims.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: And,
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: As I've said many times, guys, on this podcast, I'm not a huge believer in coincidences.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: And the fact that Bonyx, as many slump has directly equated to the two games in which Marvin Mims was unavailable, there's something to that.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: So I think having him back for this game against the chiefs is gonna be huge for both and the offense.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: and copo i still feel the same about little jordan i i's why i said earlier i hope he doesn't stay still one pass pattern from joy frankly and or pat brion or more of in bims for that matter if they want to use them as a blocker that's one thing he'll be an upgrade over sure field and that that's why they're different than they were last season uh... they have a little more depth there
- 34:01[SPEAKER_02]: Rashid Shaheed, you know, you wonder whether Jalen Wattel or Shaheed would have been a good acquisition, then you also wonder if they would have even dialed up a play to get them the ball or whether Bonix would deliver them an accurate ball.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_02]: There is so many more complicated factors that go into why the offense is in a slump beyond just the receivers.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of culprits in play here.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, for what it's worth today, Sean Payton was unwilling to pile on bow.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: was unwilling to pile on bow and while former colleagues of his at Fox, like Colin Coward, are literally throwing bonyx under the bus.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Payton, he's saying, in fact, I'll read one little stretch to you guys.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Payton said, I think it's not bow.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's not bow.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's part of the whole process offensively and constantly in our game planning this week and he goes on a paraphrasem.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's the penalties.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: We're doing the quote a great job of not taking sacks, but when we're all of a sudden first in 20, we have to eliminate those close quotes.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: pick a quarterback in the NFL Zach that can successfully bail a team out time and time again out of first and 20s second and 15s.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's really tough.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: They can do it once in a while.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to hey, nice play or a good play call or whatever.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: Most of the time man, you're going to get to third and long and you're going to punt.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: And so he's not wrong, but the problem here
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: is, Sean, that's your responsibility.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: You're the head coach.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: Why are the Broncos three quarters the way almost through the season?
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: Basically still pacing the NFL in penalties.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_02]: to exactly what I was going to say part as always, where the root of the issue when you talk about penalties, that goes back to coaching.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't want to be a hypocrite.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's not just Sean Payton as to why the offense is in a little slump right now.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_02]: Bonix has gotten into that.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_02]: The receiver is the blocking everyone, but it really starts with the head coach who is also the offensive play caller and the chief game planner and designer and architect of this offense.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_02]: So if you
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: based on virtue of him being the head coach, belongs to Sean Payton.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: Man, it's not just the penalties themselves and what leads to the penalties are these mental miscuse and just an overall lack of discipline.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I hate to say it's that, but the signs are not pointing in the right direction that accountability is suddenly reigning in Denver.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_01]: When you have the special teams coordinator, literally, first of all, Sean Peyton, not criticized in bow, not to pile on bow, but he's been worthy of criticism.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's not willing to do that, fine, protecting his psyche, doing the thing, fine, fine, but then you got the special teams coordinator, literally, making every excuse under the sun, doing everything he can to avoid pointing the finger at,
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: the punter who also is a rookie that's worth mentioning right there are this is still new they got to kind of protect those egos a little bit but nevertheless it's not a great signs act that all of a sudden out of the blue after a season of leading the NFL penalties which are a massive sign of lack of discipline like a responsibility like accountability that that's all of a sudden going to change
- 37:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's not, that's just what we have to live with.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: And who, who, who, who, who, who does Rizzi work for?
- 37:35[SPEAKER_02]: Who hire Darren Rizzi?
- 37:36[SPEAKER_02]: Who's the, the only reason that Rizzi has a job right now was because of Sean Payton.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I, I guarantee, like, you're just saying there, that sort of mindset lack of accountability in certain areas that require it.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_02]: That starts with the coaching, the head coach.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, shout out Sean Sandevol, yeah, buddy.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: We love you too.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: And you're about to see some Jalilma Gloflon because the Broncos can now dress their down a guy.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: So he'll be dressing.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you'll see him probably as the number two.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: I think, but days, that will stay as kind of that third down guy.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: This is just my educated guess based on also what Sean Peyton and the coaching staff have said this week.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_01]: the day continues doing his thing is kind of that third down guy.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: Phil, if thanks for jumping in again, brother, if Dobbins is gonna be out for a while, do we pick up a Davis prize, Zach Moss, Dante Foreman?
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: I really would like to see McLaughlin break one open.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: I've been waiting to see McLaughlin break one, take one to the house for like, his entire career and he's been close on a few, but Zach, what's your answer here for Phil?
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you guys know that SpongeBob meme where it's Squidward, watching Patrick,
- 38:50[SPEAKER_02]: Bob play outside.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's inside looking miserable.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's how I equate Jule McLaughlin this season.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what landed him in Sean Payton's doghouse, but by necessity now, he's going to be coming out of that doghouse.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you Phil.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited to see more Juleal.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_02]: He can add some playmaking ability with RJ.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_02]: But the running backs you mentioned there may be except for Davis price.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_02]: There are all injury prone.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_02]: Zach Moss, Foreman.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_02]: You don't really want to replace one injury prone back with another.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_02]: So I think we'll just roll with who they have.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Phil, and Mike Reno, audio-spuddy.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for joining us for a minute here tonight.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: Cody Dove, jumping in, waiting for this Joker Sean got to do something.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, look, it's still a young team.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to be as forgiving Zach in generous, as I can, like in terms of benefit of the doubt,
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos are still a young team, but Sean Peyton keeps standing up there at the podium and saying, I'm telling my guys that, yeah, you know, we understand the importance of this game, but we're going to play in bigger games.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, okay, how much does telling your guys that first of all really serve them?
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm trying to understand what the point of that honestly is.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like, why do you keep saying that?
- 40:02[SPEAKER_01]: But nevertheless, Sean Peyton is dealing with still
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: Finally retasted and relearned and rewired their brains for winning.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they went from a one and six record in one score games last season to the in six and two this season.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of signs that they have matured Zach and taking steps forward, but this whole penalty thing.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_01]: Half if not more the Broncos, what ales them currently as a
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: 8 and 2 team let's not lose side of that is the penalties they got it because it's not just off offense that put in behind the sticks, but You know the untimely p.i.s.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: the defense of holding the roughing the jumping off sides in particular has been a problem encroachment this year for the Broncos, so Get to the bottom of that coach then start talking about you know, hey we're gonna play in bigger games
- 40:57[SPEAKER_02]: I read somewhere that the Broncos lead the NFL in automatic first-down penalty, so penalties that result in automatic first-downs, and that's eye-opening, but Cody, this is a situation.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're talking about Evan Ingraham here.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_02]: This is a situation where Sean Payton's reputation precedes him.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_02]: he wouldn't be getting in so much hot water if he didn't before the season right before the season say he has a super ball caliber team or bonyx is a top five guy or Evan Ingram is going to be this joker in this sub this pro ball or in his offense it's another situation where Sean Peyton's ego spoke and wrote a check that he cannot cash.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see more of Evan Ingram but maybe the acquisition of Lil Jordan Humphrey doesn't spell too many great things for him.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: William the Broncos had 63 sacks last season leading the NFL.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_01]: So they're less than 20 already away from that.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_01]: They're 17 away from matching their whole season record, which was the most in the NFL.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty, pretty crazy.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, guys, we're getting pretty close to sign off time.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to see what else the members have to say, David T. I would love to
- 42:08[SPEAKER_01]: Let me see here Jordan Jordan Lewis I hope I really hope the offense gets going early this game and that we can minimize penalties that you know as far as like
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: Ever since, really Zach, I think it was the giant's game is when you started hearing it as kind of a ground swell from the fans about give us more tempo.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: When Bonax runs tempo, man, the results are astounding.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_01]: And Sean Peyton has said multiple times.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to talk about tempo.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to hear about tempo.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: To him, it seems tempo.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_01]: is just kind of generally starting fast, meaning getting on the board early and all that stuff.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't he hasn't articulated a good reason.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: why tempo is only reserved for desperation moments and so we're left to kind of deduce why that might be.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_01]: And the only thing I can think of Zack is the hallmark, one of the hallmarks of the Sean Peyton thing, offensively is the constant substitutions, constant at the skill positions, like never ending subs on and off.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: And it does make it harder on a defense.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_01]: If you're running tempo, it's a lot harder to do that.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_01]: So for him, that's more important it would seem anyway, Zach.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: Then, hey, opening possession, we're gonna call like traditional, here's our first 15 type thing, fine.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: Come back in on the second, maybe the third possession, go no huddle, play some tempo, make the defense think a little bit, then go back to your huddle on the next possession, like mix it up a little bit, but he doesn't have any interest in doing that.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe if Scott were on right now with the football brain and experience he has he could divine something a reason that we're missing here, but I agree with you Jordan, even though what you said had nothing to do with tempo, the fact that you talked about getting going early reminded me of what Sean Payton said yesterday.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's got to be the subs.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what else it's Sean Peyton coming up with these game plans that involve heavy screen passes and going three and out a lot to start the game and you're right short of that cannot continue.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see a start like they came out against Buffalo in the wildcard game went up seven nothing on a long Troy Franklin touchdown.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's the aggressiveness we need we just have to Hope the Broncos can keep the foot on the throat so to speak.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, shout out bigger and great to see you, buddy.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: Hope you're doing well, Broncos Country.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: Only baby, amen to that.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, guys, we have the Bronx and the Broncos defense needs to make my homes pay for beating the Broncos.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all those years, right?
- 44:41[SPEAKER_01]: However, many of the 16, I'm trying to think, I think he was credited with 14 of the 16 straight wins that the chiefs had over Denver were, my homes started games.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_01]: One, the second matchup in 2015, that was Alex Smith, they got the win, did the chiefs.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: The first matchup of 2016, that was Alex Smith.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: And then at the end of that season,
- 45:07[SPEAKER_01]: No, wait.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm losing track.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_01]: Forget what I just said.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think it might be less than that.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: Actually like 12 of them's act were were, it's still a lot.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: But 12 of them were Patrick Mahomes.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: The other ones Alex Smith, the point being though he's saying they got to make Mahomes pay.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's how you beat Kansas City is cut off the snake at the head.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_02]: The head is Patrick Mahomes.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_02]: Get him on the ground, flush to him, preferably turn him over.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_02]: And you're going to probably win that game on Sunday.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_01]: I like this Jordan.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: We got to minimize those penalties.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: This game first and second longs will kill drives.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: So true.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: And we spent a lot of tonight's show talking about that.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: David Vasquez, good to see you on Facebook.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: Broncos haven't played a game of this caliber since the Shanna hand days.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, man, who was it?
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: Matt Bird, Romney of SI national said that this is the biggest game.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos have played in 10 years.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: Zach,
- 46:04[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, yeah, I would, I would argue that the Buffalo playoff game was a pretty big game as well, but in terms of regular season, yeah, this is the biggest game and one of the biggest games overall since Super Bowl 50.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: You can pick nits and be like, well, no, the season finale last year.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_01]: That was the biggest game, even though the cheves were starting their second teamers, because the Broncos had to win that to clinch a playoff Earth and snap their preceding eight-year playoff
- 46:34[SPEAKER_01]: that that win was coming no matter what the chiefs were playing their second teamers and that's another thing to remember in this one's act.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't just that the Broncos beat their backups.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: They shut them out.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: 38 nothing, not 16 nothing, not 19 nothing or twin.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_01]: 38, nothing, champagne used it as a stat padding game for his guys on offense.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: Making sure certain dudes got their bonuses, this, that and the other.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, even though it was the second teamer's deck that had to suffer that ignomini for the most part, this chief's team's going to be rip-roaring to face the Broncos, especially coming off the buy, too, thereby, and he reads only lost four games after the buy ever.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_02]: and with a referee that they're a 4-0 with.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_02]: But I look to how they played at Arrowhead last year, two chat, especially in the second half, Bonyx arguably outplayed Patrick Mahomes, and they should have won that game on that field goal attempt.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Todd Drake may have been playing well.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_01]: MVP level well.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: If you were to vote right now, Zach, for MVP of the 2025 NFL season, who would you vote for?
- 47:44[SPEAKER_02]: Stafford's up there, Baker Mayfield's up there.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, Drake.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_02]: They would get a couple of votes for sure.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_02]: He's playing a really good ball right now.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: Can't even hate honestly.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_01]: The most valuable player dude has been Jonathan Taylor.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: But he won't get it because he's running back now.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_01]: He'll get offensive player the year.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: But he's been the most valuable player.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: But hey, if you're going to put Drake may up there, put Danny Dimes as they're calling him now.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Daniel Jones up there.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: But, uh, all right, guys, we got a few messages for you.
