  here. In our last episode, we began the story

  of Ruth. After losing her husband, Ruth made

  a brave choice. Instead of staying in her own

  country where life would be easier, she chose

  to go with Naomi and follow the God of Israel.

  Even though she didn't know what would happen,

  she trusted God and worked hard to take care

  of Naomi. Today, we'll see how God begins to

  use Ruth's faithfulness for something beautiful.

  jump in. Every day, Ruth went out to the fields

  to gather leftover grain so that she and Naomi
• 1:06
  could eat. She didn't complain. She didn't look
• 1:10
  for an easier way. She simply trusted that God
• 1:14
  would provide and he did. The field Ruth worked
• 1:18
  in belonged to a kind and godly man named Boaz.

  He wasn't just any landowner. He was actually
• 1:26
  a relative of Naomi's family. Boaz noticed Ruth
• 1:31
  in the field. He had heard how she left her own
• 1:35
  country to stay with Naomi, and how she had chosen
• 1:38
  to follow the God of Israel. So, Boaz treated
• 1:43
  Ruth with kindness and made sure she was safe
• 1:46
  and had enough to eat. Time passed, and harvest
• 1:51
  season was almost over. Naomi wanted to help
• 1:55
  Ruth find a safe and loving future. According
• 1:59
  to the customs of Israel, a close family member

  could buy back land that belonged to a relative
• 2:05
  and care for their family. Boaz was one of those
• 2:10
  close relatives. Naomi explained this to Ruth
• 2:14
  and told her what to do. One night, Ruth went
• 2:18
  to the place where Boaz was resting after working.

  She respectfully laid down near his feet. This
• 2:27
  was not strange in their culture, it was a gentle
• 2:30
  way of asking. Will you take care of me and our
• 2:34
  family? When Boaz discovered Ruth there, he didn't
• 2:39
  push her away. He understood what she was asking
• 2:43
  and was honored by her kindness and faithfulness.

  Boaz promised to find a way to take care of her.
• 2:51
  But first, he had to talk to another relative
• 2:55
  who was even closer to Naomi's family. The next
• 2:59
  day, Boaz met with the other relative. The man
• 3:03
  decided not to take the responsibility, so Boaz
• 3:07
  gladly stepped in. Boaz officially took Ruth
• 3:11
  as his wife and promised to care for her and
• 3:14
  Naomi. Later, Ruth and Boaz had a baby boy named
• 3:19
  Abed. Naomi held the child in her arms and cared
• 3:23
  for him. Abed grew up and became the grandfather
• 3:27
  of King David. And many years later, Jesus himself
• 3:33
  would be born from this same family line. God
• 3:37
  used the faithfulness of one ordinary woman to
• 3:40
  become part of his great rescue plan for the
• 3:43
  whole world. Isn't that amazing? Ruth didn't
• 3:52
  know any of this when she chose to stay with
• 3:55
  Naomi. She only knew that following God and loving
• 4:00
  others was the right thing to do. God saw her
• 4:04
  faithfulness and used it for something beautiful
• 4:07
  and much bigger than she could imagine. Have
