Abel Gets 10 Years for Aggravated Battery | Topeka News
A 32-year-old man, Douglas L.R. Abel, has been sentenced to ten years in prison for aggravated battery after a November 2025 shooting in Topeka. Found guilty of recklessly causing serious harm, Abel entered a guilty plea in April 2026 following a lengthy investigation and legal process. His 120-month sentence includes 24 months of post-release supervision. District Attorney Mike Kagay praised the prosecution team and Topeka PD for their work in closing this case.
