- 0:00Welcome to World View Matters, and now here's your host, David Fierazzo.
- 0:10Hey guys, welcome again to World View Matters. Thanks for tuning in. Thanks for sharing the podcast and the show.
- 0:18And thank you for signing up to subscribe for email updates at worldviewmatters.tv.
- 0:23We jump right into it today. Again, we've got a busy week. So we're going to talk with the busy mom today.
- 0:28Heidi St. John, author, speaker, podcast host, founder of Mom Strong International, home school advocate.
- 0:35She's got a brand new book out called Mom Strong 365. And she's also a former Washington congressional candidate.
- 0:43We'll talk a little bit about that. And there's the book cover. It's a devotional. Heidi St. John, welcome to World View Matters. How you doing?
- 0:51Hey, I'm great. David. It's good to see you. Good. Well, first of all, yeah, usually we do this by audio. It's nice to see your face. And thanks for setting it up for us this morning. Thanks Melissa for helping.
- 1:02Tell us about the new book. It is a devotional, right?
- 1:05Yeah, it's a 365 day devotional and it gives moms an opportunity every day just to be in the Bible for a moment to center their hearts before the Lord.
- 1:16You know, you've known me now, David, for a long time. And so I write very similarly to how I speak to audiences. So it's very honest and transparent.
- 1:24And I realize that bad days don't make bad moms. It's just kind of a shifting and turning our hearts back toward the Lord. But in that book. So every day of the year, there's a devotional scripture. And then I'm just kind of teaching on it a little bit.
- 1:37But I'm touching on just about everything that's happening in the culture, even the hot button issues that a lot of people don't want to touch in a devotional. So I think people are going to like it.
- 1:46You are a troublemaker, aren't you?
- 1:50Do you have that on a plaque somewhere though? Bad days don't make bad moms. I love that.
- 1:56Yeah. Yeah. You know, I have it on actually a little plaque at home. And it reminds me because I've raised seven children. Now I have four grandchildren.
- 2:05And you know, I think the world has done such a disservice to motherhood. And now we've got men masquerading around as women. We've decided that we've decided that woman is a being a woman is just a costume.
- 2:18You can slap on lipstick and some high heels somehow that makes you a woman. If you identify as a mother, somehow that makes you a mother.
- 2:25That has a very different definition of mothers and today's moms need to know what that is that they're loved and that their purpose in raising the next generation carries with it an eternal significance.
- 2:36And so I'm just trying to re-center the hearts of these moms that are being pulled in so many different directions and ground them in truth.
- 2:44I want to talk about that. Something you just said. I don't know where the feminists are, where the women are.
- 2:53We just celebrated not we, but there was international women's day. I mean, a couple within the last couple of weeks.
- 3:00And I don't know what on earth happened because a lot of women are looking the other way when men and young boys are starting to play women's sports.
- 3:11They're starting to affect scholarships. They're using bathrooms, dressing rooms that are for biological women and girls.
- 3:19And first of all, where are the dads, you know, protecting your young girls, but where Heidi, where do you think the the women are? Is there that much confusion out there?
- 3:27Are people just afraid to speak up about this today?
- 3:31No, I don't think that people are not confused about this. Katanji Brown-Jackson, the latest Supreme Court judge who doesn't know what a woman is. She's not confused. She's a coward.
- 3:41We need to call these people out. She knows what a woman is, right? A woman is born biological and there are this.
- 3:49It's not confusing what we're living through is an incredible time of deception. This has been taking place in our schools now for a very long time.
- 3:57But what getting back to your point about the feminist movement, I think what it's doing is it's unmasking the feminist movement.
- 4:04The feminist movement is not about the rights of women. It's not about protecting women. It's not about protecting girls. It's not about safe spaces. It's not about advancing women's rights.
- 4:13It's about tearing down their traditional family. It's about tearing down any any vestige of traditionalism that's left in the nation.
- 4:22We've been at this for a very long time. You asked, well, where are the dads? Well, the feminist movement has been systematically emasculating men now for about 60 years.
- 4:30And so we finally, I mean, now I guess we're getting what we asked for, right? Don't open the door for me. I can do it myself.
- 4:36You know, anything you can do, I can do better. Women don't need men, which of course is a bold lie.
- 4:41And the only answer to a bold lie as you and I have discussed before on your show is bold truth. And this is a time for bold truth.
- 4:50That's right. This is going to be a very free, flowing conversation today. And that's what I love about you, Heidi.
- 4:55We can go anywhere and talk about anything. No topic off limits is one of the taglines of worldview matters.
- 5:02I can go back to about the 1970s and remember primetime television when they started making dads men out to be unnecessary, bumbling idiots.
- 5:17They were just, you know, they were around just for convenience. They didn't know how to do things around the house.
- 5:23And so how it was it earlier than that. I mean, that was just Hollywood in the entertainment industry. But in our culture, that is translated over.
- 5:31We see a lot of TV commercials today. How many TV commercials do you see where the dad or the man comes in with the solution?
- 5:38Zero. Anyway, why did you start noticing this, Heidi? I'm thinking the 70s in some sitcom characters. What do you think?
- 5:47Well, I, I, I absolutely lay the blame at the feet of the ERA, right? And the equal rights amendment. We can go back to the 70s, back to the 60s.
- 5:56The free love movement where we decided that that sex was just something we could toy around with is something we could give away when God's word clearly says it is a sacred thing when you make a human being.
- 6:08That's a pretty weighty responsibility. And so instead of accepting responsibility, the women just said, well, I can just get abortion. It's my body, my choice.
- 6:17And the men stood by and said, absolutely, you can do that to your body, your choice. I have no saying it, which again, another bold lie because it takes a man and a woman to create a baby.
- 6:27And so of course, men have a right and a responsibility to speak into this really important topic. But I lay the blame for this squarely at a the entertainment industry and be the education system in this country, which is absolutely been radicalized by the left.
- 6:42And so we send our kids to university when they're 18 years old and now in the public school system when they're much younger, we're teaching them that we're nothing more than an animal that we evolved that of some primordial ooze somewhere.
- 6:54And there were surprise when people behave like animals, right? So we behave like animals toward each other. We behave like animals toward the unborn. We kill our own unborn. What a shameful thing.
- 7:05We decided to emasculate our men and you can you can trace this back absolutely to the 60s for sure, starting with the free love movement and then moving into the 70s with the legalization of abortion in this country.
- 7:19Of course, Roe v Wade just overturned by the Supreme Court, but abortion is still legal in this country. And so, you know, when you see sitcoms come out where they've emasculated the man and the man is always the, you know, the bumbling idiot on the show.
- 7:32And the woman comes in to save the day. We just saw this in the new Harrison Ford movie where they make the woman stronger than the man and they wonder why are they losing, you know, millions and millions of millions of dollars at the box office.
- 7:44People know that's not actually true. And I think we're going to start. I think that they have reached their apex. I think we're going to start to see it swing back.
- 7:53So you think they've overplayed their hand. Absolutely. They've overplayed their hand and we're suffering for it. We're suffering in our schools. We're suffering in our public restrooms are suffering in the government.
- 8:03We're suffering for it. And I think people are tired of it. And you're starting to see that backlash. What we're going to be careful of is that when it does start to swing back that we that we hang out in the middle and don't go far to the other side where you end up with it with patriarchy and that kind of weirdness as well.
- 8:20Yeah. Well, we're going to talk a lot about education later on. And of course, the what is it called the firmly planted homeschool resource center.
- 8:28That's brand new. We're going to talk about that in homeschooling. But I want to go back to something you said that made me think of the suicide rate today.
- 8:37When you're raising kids and by the way, the left has access, very important word access to children at younger and younger ages when they are getting a hold of kids.
- 8:49And I'll just say it brainwashing. There's no nice way to say what they're doing with sexuality and kids, you know, if there's no God, there's no Bible, there's no truth, then they can be whatever they want.
- 9:00And then they can, if they're unhappy, well, then whose fault is that? So they're, they're really committing suicide at higher rates.
- 9:07The suicide. I mean, if you look at the numbers, it's really sad. And then who do they usually blame? Oh, it's the Christians for making them feel they're not affirming or whatever.
- 9:16No, no, no, you go back to them feeling like there's no purpose. Their life is just a random accident. And they're, what's their reason for living?
- 9:24You ingrain that into them when they're younger. And that's why homeschooling getting them out of the system is so important and getting the biblical world view established in your kids.
- 9:36In fact, Heidi, why don't we go there right now because you just now have been talking about this a lot because it just opened right the firmly planted homeschool resource center.
- 9:46We'll touch on this. We'll come back to it later, but just tell us about that because I know you're really excited about it.
- 9:52Yeah, I'm excited because it's, it's evidence to me. You know, there's a great song, David. I've you've heard it off to text it to you, but it's called evidence. And the whole point of the song is I see the evidence of the Lord all around me.
- 10:04And if we'll look, David, that evidence is still there. And the homeschool resource center to me is evidence that God cares about what's happening to his children.
- 10:12Listen, I declare a state of emergency over the public education system in this country that is injuring our children body, soul, mind and spirit.
- 10:20We're not focused on reading, writing and arithmetic in this country. We're focused on the leftist indoctrination of children in sexualizing our children in dumbing them down and dulling their senses so that they can be easily injured by sexual predators, even pedophiles.
- 10:36We are opening wide to that in our public school systems by telling our children that gender is just something that they imagine that it's not an actual biological reality.
- 10:45And the homeschool resource center located right here in Vancouver, Washington is saying with the loud voice, let my children go, let them go.
- 10:54And so we have just under 1700 students registered here for the fall. And the last year and a half has been a wild ride because in the midst of my running for a congressional seat in Washington state, we were working very hard to find a new facility for the homeschool resource center.
- 11:10We out grew where we were obviously the pandemic or the scam. Demick as I like to call it really doubled and tripled our numbers at the center.
- 11:20And so now we've got hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of students who have literally escaped from the public school system.
- 11:26And their parents will come to us and say, I finally have my child back. I didn't even recognize my child after eight hours a day, five days a week, nine months a year of this leftist indoctrination that's happening in the schools.
- 11:39So we closed in the month of June, we closed on this building, 16.4 million dollars in cash. And we own this facility now outright. It has 59 just under 59,000 square feet in it.
- 11:54We've got an auditorium in this building. We're bringing back the trades. We're teaching automotive and woodworking. We've got choirs going. We're teaching foreign languages. We're teaching the Constitution.
- 12:05And everything that we do here is done all a cart. So we're not a school. We are connecting students with with tutors and teachers. So everything is done individually. It's kind of a choose your own adventure here at the homeschool resource center. But everything we do grounded on the word of God and taught from a biblical world view.
- 12:23That's firmly planted family dot com. Correct. Is that the website? That's right. And I think probably dot org would go to it too. And if they want to find the homeschool resource. And yep, there you are.
- 12:35If you want to find the homeschool resource center, that is also available just to look for firmly planted homeschool resource center. And our goal here really at firmly planted family, the nonprofit's been around for 25 years or so.
- 12:49Our goal is really to help parents to give them the tool so that their families can become rooted in the rich soil of the word of God. And of course that impacts education, which is why we also have a focus on home education.
- 13:04We've got to take a quick break. We're with Heidi St. John, the busy mom dot com when we come back when to talk a little bit about her, her congressional run and we'll talk more about homeschooling. And again, we'll mention her new book when we come right back.
- 13:35Heidi St. John is with us. We're so blessed to have you Heidi. I love what you've been doing. You've really been a living example of getting off the bench and getting into the game.
- 13:45Before we talk about what you've been doing as far as traveling, focus on the family answers in Genesis and 700 club was just at your house.
- 13:54And tell us about, I know you can condense it at this point, your Washington state congressional run and what you're going to do now, taking that energy and putting it into homeschooling education.
- 14:06Yeah, I ran for Washington states their congressional district for the last two years and I learned a lot from that and outside, you know, my takeaway from it, David, you and I haven't really talked much since the end of the run.
- 14:19I lost by just a little bit and then unfortunately we lost the seat to a leftist, which was really the worst thing that could have happened.
- 14:27And so I that that to me is discouraging for sure on its face, but my takeaway and I think a lot of people aren't going to like this, but this is the truth. The Republican party is leader lists right now.
- 14:38The Republican party in my estimation is a shell of what it was in the days of Ronald Reagan. We don't know what it means to be a conservative anymore.
- 14:46We're using the same tactics of the left, believing that the ends justify the means.
- 14:51And I am on a mission now to bring statesmanship and integrity back to politics. What I saw in my run for the United States Congress in a Republican primary was shameful.
- 15:04I was heckled and yelled at my life was threatened. I had broken wine bottles left on my mailbox, you know, people coming to my home to intimidate me.
- 15:14You know, I when I jumped into the race, I had a particular belief about how the Republican party behaved and how it saw itself and fellow Republicans, fellow conservatives.
- 15:25And I was prepared to fight Nancy Pelosi, you know, stick Heidi on the floor of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and that woman would not have known what hit her.
- 15:34Amen.
- 15:36I'm not prepared for the vitriol and the viciousness inside the Republican party here in my area.
- 15:43And I'm going to spend that, you know, as long as the Lord gives me breath, the next several years of my life to bringing integrity back and statesmanship back to politics.
- 15:54We have got to start bringing Christian principles back to public discourse again. We've allowed in, frankly, Donald Trump really catapulted this out into the stratosphere.
- 16:03Listen, I voted for Trump in 2016. I voted for him again in 2020. If he's on the the ballot, I'll vote for him again in 2024.
- 16:10But we have got to stop the name calling, you know, Trump said that he would act presidential. Well, guess what, Mr. President? I'm still waiting.
- 16:18I'm still waiting for you to act like a statesman. You're supposed to be representing right now the Republican party. And then hopefully the people of the United States, should you be elected, but we're not behaving that way anymore.
- 16:30And, you know, the name calling and the viciousness and honestly, the lack of involvement by the church, where is the black robe regimen, David?
- 16:39Where are the men and women, the men behind our pulpits that care about what's happening to our country?
- 16:45I went to over 200 pastors in my area and said, Hey, my name's Heidi St. John. I'm running for Congress. I don't even, I didn't even ask to speak in front of their churches. Of course, I would if they would have let me.
- 16:55But what I said was kind of put a table outside your church. Could I speak to your women's coffee on Tuesday mornings? Do you know how many churches, David, out of those 200 responded in the affirmative?
- 17:04Three.
- 17:05Two.
- 17:06I was close.
- 17:08So close.
- 17:09So close. And here's the thing, right? I heard over and over again, oh, we're a 501c3. And I have determined that the C and 501c3 stands for coward.
- 17:17Yes.
- 17:18These men hide behind, they hide behind their 501c3s. And what are we doing, David, when we hide behind that 501c3? We're saying that we will, we will refuse to speak the truth into the culture in the name of Jesus for money.
- 17:31Shame on us for that. Shame on us for it.
- 17:34Heidi, I can't go on without talking about the Johnson amendment and what that has done to a lot of pastors and churches that has prevented them in their minds from talking about anything deemed, quote, political.
- 17:50And so what do I mean by that? Well, they think abortion is political. They think LGBTQ issues, sexual promiscuities, political socialism, political. All these other issues.
- 18:00And they're not talking about it because in 65, of course, or 64, whenever it was Lyndon Johnson put that amendment into this bill, they were debating on the Senate floor. That was before he was president.
- 18:12And pastors at that time thought, well, I better not say anything then. But to my understanding churches can say anything except they technically cannot endorse a candidate from the public. You can hold voter registration drives.
- 18:27You can have a Democrat and a Republican coming to your church and debate the issues. You can talk about abortion. You can talk about the state laws. You can talk about getting active in politics.
- 18:37And the only other thing I think Heidi St. John, I think you cannot give church money to a campaign. But the pastor, anybody on staff individually can vote for whoever they want, give their money. They can talk about who they voted for.
- 18:52But we've been so scared for so many decades to not speak up about these controversial issues that are, quote, political issues. I know you have some thoughts on that.
- 19:05I want you up here.
- 19:07You want me to just let me go. Listen, there's so many things that you touched on that I think are really important. The main thing is fear, right? You said that these pastors are afraid.
- 19:17Well, that's not biblical. God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but power, love and a sound mind. And as we have given into the spirit of fear, we've done it politically.
- 19:25You know, Johnson hated Christians. If people would just do their homework, if they would just understand President Johnson, a terrible president, he wanted to really acted more like an atheist than anything else, really trying to silence the voices of pastors and other clergymen, anyone who had a 501c3 or religious conviction at all, because he didn't want them speaking into the political void.
- 19:47And the damage that has been done from that, I think, cannot be overstated, right? And so now we've got an entire generation of pastors who've been led to believe that they're not allowed to speak into politics, but you rightly pointed out there are only two things that a pastor can't do from the pulpit.
- 20:02They cannot endorse as a church and they cannot give money as a church. That's only two things. Everything else is fair game. You can talk about who you're voting for. You can listen 90% of the issues that we're dealing with in our country right now are moral at their root.
- 20:16The church is duty bound to address them. We are duty bound to speak about what is happening in the culture from a biblical worldview. And the fact that the Johnson Amendment has tied the hands and feet of these cowardly pastors who are unwilling to do their homework and do not understand what the Johnson Amendment means.
- 20:34They have allowed themselves to be hog tied and they've had their mouths gagged now for generations. And here we are. And I am I'm telling you I'm willing I'm just William Wallace thing all around the country saying hey we have an opportunity to speak the truth into the void right now. The time is drawing close David you and I both know that our country is on fire right now.
- 20:56The schools are on fire. Where are the men and women of God? Oh, I know they're hiding behind the Johnson Amendment. That's where they are.
- 21:04And they're living their best lives now and busy just like the days of Noah they were getting married. They were giving marriage. They were eating drinking and taking care of the mundane matters of life. And then what happened. God's judgment came and they were not prepared.
- 21:23That's also warning for the church by the way. I don't know that we're prepared for what's to come. But Heidi you said a lot in there and one of the things I just wanted to mention is you mentioned the black robe regiment. I met Trevor Loudon.
- 21:36He's tomorrow's guest by the way and worldview matters Trevor Loudon. I met him at a Liberty pastors event. He did a documentary I called enemies within the church and he's an expert on the left and Marxism and on communist and government.
- 21:51But I met him there and Dan Fisher will be on the show worldview matters in a couple of weeks. He's got a book out. I remember the title bringing back the black robe regiment. He's an expert on these early American patriots who we wouldn't have in America if if the men of God in that in that time.
- 22:08We've got just a few minutes left. Heidi you were at focus on the family in Colorado. You were at answers in Genesis. Tell us briefly about a couple of these things.
- 22:31That's been giving me opportunities to talk about what's important to me and as you know David I care about a lot of things. My podcast the Heidi Saint John podcast just passed 21 million downloads this last week at airs five days a week now.
- 22:45And the platform really I mean if God gives us platform right because it all comes from him. If God gives us platform we have been charged to speak the truth from it. And so I praise the Lord for the opportunities. I've had to partner with my friends and answers in Genesis. I have tremendous respect of course for Ken Ham and the work they're doing there.
- 23:05You know talking about my new book at folks and family. I spent quite a bit of time talking with my friend pastor Jack Hibbs from Calvary Chapel Tino Hills. I did his show a couple of weeks ago. We were really talking about the tragedy that's unfolding. It really is a tragedy in our government school systems.
- 23:21And then I had the chance to record a couple of videos for Prager University. And so that series was titled how not to raise a leftist. And I just am as a mother and a grandmother and someone who cares deeply about this country.
- 23:38I believe now is the time for voices of integrity and men and women of God who care about what's happening to speak the truth in love. Listen, we have nothing to fear. Right. The Bible tells us that our days have already been ordained for us. And once we understand that our days have been ordained for us.
- 23:55Then we can be the Joshua's and the esters of this generation. And David just like you're here in 2023 and I'm here in 2023. We could have been born 150 years ago or a thousand years ago.
- 24:06But God in his in his providence and in his wisdom said right now is your time. This is our time every single one of your listeners. This is our time.
- 24:15The question is what are we going to do with it? Are we going to address the issues of the day? Are we going to sit back and do nothing? God has us here on purpose for a purpose.
- 24:24And you know me. I like to encourage your listeners. Get off the bench. Get onto the battlefield. The Lord is going to return someday. And I don't want to be found sitting on the couch watching a sitcom waiting for his return. I want to be engaged in the fight.
- 24:37Heidi, I just admire you so much. Thank you for being an example of someone who was actually walking the talk.
- 24:47Thank you. You've done so much. And by the way, I saw was it a couple of within recent weeks you had Kevin Sorbo on your podcast. I mean, you get to talk some raw dryer.
- 24:57Live not by lies. Great book. Anyway, I'm just blessed to just be friends and be able to stay connected here. Heidi also has a couple other books out. I just want to mention real quick prayers for the battlefield and Bible promises for moms.
- 25:14But her brand new one put that up again. Please Jeff mom strong 365. It is a devotional and I love what did she say at the beginning bad days don't make bad moms.
- 25:26So Heidi St. John, you also have something coming up next month with the 700 Club. What's that about?
- 25:32Yeah, on October 6th, the interview they flew a crew out here. A reporter who's become a friend of mine David Brody was here with a team and they walked through the homeschool resource center.
- 25:43We were able to show them what the Lord is doing at one point when I took David into the auditorium. He just started crying. He said he said the spirit of God is here. I want people to know that God cares about what's happening to our children.
- 25:56So my husband and I very committed to helping people start resource centers just like this one around the country. And again, it gets back to who do we believe that God is?
- 26:08We believe that he is sovereign. If we believe that he loves us, if we believe that his word is true, then we have an obligation and our duty bound to do everything we can to spread the hope of the gospel to rescue those who are being taken away to their death.
- 26:23And that right now, as far as I'm concerned, ground zero for the hostile take over this nation is the public schools.
- 26:29Amen. And thank you for fighting on that at the ground level. Heidi, you and Jay have a 35 year anniversary coming up. Is that the next couple months?
- 26:3934 years. We've been together for, we've been together for almost 36 years, but our 34th wedding anniversary is coming up here at the end of September. And yes, we're just, you know, that man, I'll tell you what, it's no picnic being married to married to me.
- 26:54That guy, he needs a, yeah, is some sort of a plaque for it. Someone should, yeah, well, we'll get on that.
- 26:59Yep. Pray for Jay. No, seriously, seriously, we, we appreciate all that you do will look forward to Lord willing speaking with you again.
- 27:07And check out the firmly planted homeschool resource center guys and it's growing as it should. And that's what a lot of places around the country. Hopefully that'll be a model for what a lot of places around the country need to be thinking about doing in their areas.
- 27:21Heidi Saint John dot com, the busy mom dot com sister. God bless you and protect you in Jesus name. Thank you for your time today.
- 27:29Thank you so much. I hope to see you soon. Alright guys, we appreciate you turning into world view matters. A lot more coming up Trevor Loudon tomorrow, former transgender Laura Perry smokes on Thursday. God bless you. And as always, keep speaking the truth about things that matter.
- 27:51You
