- 0:18Speaker 1: and today we are talking about, as luck would have it,
- 0:22Speaker 1: the fourth movie in Hallmarks Spring Fling lineup, and I
- 0:26Speaker 1: think you're in for some good news. Friends. Before we
- 0:30Speaker 1: get into that, let's talk about where else you can

- 0:39Speaker 1: This week we talked about tips and tricks to make
- 0:41Speaker 1: life easier, perhaps even better, but you could always listen
- 0:45Speaker 1: to those episodes on Tuesday and then these come out
- 0:48Speaker 1: every Thursday. You can join us over on Instagram where
- 0:51Speaker 1: we are Megan and Wendy LSS. You can also hop

- 1:05Speaker 2: We love to hear if you're watching the Hallmark movies
- 1:08Speaker 2: and what you thought about them, if you agree with
- 1:10Speaker 2: our reviews and all that stuff. So email us at
- 1:14Speaker 2: Meganowindy at gmail dot com.
- 1:17Speaker 1: And we've heard from several of you that you listen
- 1:20Speaker 1: to these Hallmark episodes in spite of not watching Hallmark movies.
- 1:23Speaker 1: So if that's you, thank you so much for being
- 1:26Speaker 1: here just for us. We have an email to read
- 1:29Speaker 1: and it is a response to our episode on Kid ninety,
- 1:31Speaker 1: which was the soleat Moonfry documentary that we did as
- 1:34Speaker 1: a bonus bonus episode when Hallmark had a bye week.
- 1:37Speaker 1: And it's from Karen who says, Hi, ladies, I love
- 1:42Speaker 1: your show and just had to stop in the middle
- 1:44Speaker 1: of the Kid ninety episode to write you with my
- 1:46Speaker 1: memories of how Punky Brewster started. I was a big
- 1:50Speaker 1: fan of Punky growing up and was about the same
- 1:51Speaker 1: age as her. I definitely watched all the episodes, including
- 1:55Speaker 1: rewatching in syndication. I haven't seen the show in over
- 1:58Speaker 1: thirty years, but I'm planning to watch the original soon
- 2:00Speaker 1: with my ten year old daughter. Anyway, my recollection is
- 2:03Speaker 1: that Punkin's weather abandoned her in a supermarket. I don't
- 2:06Speaker 1: remember her carrying people's groceries for tips. Reader's note that
- 2:11Speaker 1: did happen. Back to the email, however, she was not
- 2:14Speaker 1: living in an orphanage, but rather sneaking into an empty
- 2:17Speaker 1: apartment by climbing through the window. She was discovered there,
- 2:20Speaker 1: which eventually led to her adoption by Henry Warnemont, who
- 2:23Speaker 1: also lived in the apartment building. I guess i'm the specifics,
- 2:27Speaker 1: but I do remember those details. Now, if you do
- 2:31Speaker 1: not want to go back and watch the origins of
- 2:34Speaker 1: Punky Brewster, but you are curious about all the details
- 2:37Speaker 1: about how the first few episodes started in Punky and
- 2:40Speaker 1: Henry's origin story, we would recommend the podcast that is
- 2:44Speaker 1: run by our friends that is called the untitled gen
- 2:46Speaker 1: X Podcast, and they do a recap of those first
- 2:49Speaker 1: three episodes in addition to talking about the reboot, so
- 2:53Speaker 1: they have done the work for you.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Have you watched the reboot of that show?
- 2:57Speaker 1: I have not because it is on Peacock Premium or
- 3:02Speaker 1: whatever the paid version of Peacock is. And I am
- 3:05Speaker 1: a crabby old man when it comes to the fact
- 3:07Speaker 1: that there are too many streaming services.
- 3:10Speaker 2: All Right, well, I have it, so maybe I will
- 3:12Speaker 2: give it a watch. I'm just curious, right, And I
- 3:15Speaker 2: also want to see the Saved by the Bell reboo,
- 3:17Speaker 2: which is also under the same Peacock banner. That I'm
- 3:21Speaker 2: not that excited. I know you're a big Saved by
- 3:25Speaker 2: the bell fan.
- 3:26Speaker 1: So it was once upon a time. So let's jump
- 3:31Speaker 1: into one perfect wedding. Wendy, do you have a No,
- 3:34Speaker 1: that's all we're doing. Let's jump into as luck would
- 3:40Speaker 1: have it, Wendy, do you have a synopsis?
- 3:42Speaker 2: I do. Yes. Lindsay travels to Ireland to acquire land
- 3:47Speaker 2: that is perfect for a resort. She decides to enter
- 3:50Speaker 2: the town's matchmaking festival to prove her investment and win
- 3:54Speaker 2: over a handsome local. Starring Joanna Garcia Swisher and Alan Leech.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, let's do news and notes.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Okay, news and notes the only one. I have two. Actually,
- 4:12Speaker 2: this was filmed in early twenty twenty one, and the
- 4:17Speaker 2: other is they filmed at Howth Castle, not far from Dublin.
- 4:24Speaker 2: So I don't know anything about Ireland or Ireland's castle situation. Nothing,
- 4:31Speaker 2: So I don't. I'm curious to know if you know
- 4:33Speaker 2: these places because spoiler alert, Meghan has been to Ireland.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I have been to Ireland. I've been there twice. There
- 4:40Speaker 1: are castles everywhere. I'm not familiar with this one. This
- 4:46Speaker 1: was Joanna garcias Wisher's first Hallmark movie, and she said
- 4:49Speaker 1: that her grandmother is a big fan and she had
- 4:51Speaker 1: always said I really want to see you in one
- 4:53Speaker 1: of these, and according to Joanna, she was like, I'll
- 4:55Speaker 1: do it for you, grandma. And then like two weeks
- 4:57Speaker 1: later she was sent a script for review and she
- 5:00Speaker 1: took the job. So she was cast first, and then
- 5:03Speaker 1: Alan was cast after that, and according to her, she
- 5:06Speaker 1: was asked who she saw as the perfect Brennan and
- 5:09Speaker 1: he was already kind of in the mix because he
- 5:12Speaker 1: is Irish and they are real life friends Juanna and Allen.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Oh so yeah, So that was fun. And did you
- 5:20Speaker 1: watch any of the little interview moments that happened at
- 5:25Speaker 1: the commercial breaks?
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yes? I did. I loved those. I wish they would
- 5:29Speaker 2: do them for every movie.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I agree. I really loved those two and I think
- 5:35Speaker 1: you could feel their friendship come through in those moments.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Even if they hadn't been friends before that, you could
- 5:40Speaker 1: tell that they were on the set, but they were
- 5:42Speaker 1: close friends prior to the filming of this movie. So
- 5:44Speaker 1: I liked that little bit of information.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Is Alan Leitch has he done Hallmark movies before? Do
- 5:52Speaker 2: you know?
- 5:53Speaker 1: I don't believe. So. He's best known for playing Tom
- 5:57Speaker 1: Branson in Downton Abbey, The Chauffeur who scandalously fallen falls
- 6:03Speaker 1: in love with one of the sisters. Crap, he was
- 6:06Speaker 1: in something else and it's escaping me. But no, he
- 6:08Speaker 1: has not done homework before, and neither huts Joanna.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Well, let me tell you something. I've got a huge
- 6:17Speaker 2: girl crush now on Joanna Garcia Swisher. I love her.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I've always been a big fan of her. She's Friba days,
- 6:26Speaker 1: so I.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Remember her from Riba. I was not like an avid
- 6:31Speaker 2: Riba watcher, but I do remember her from Riba and
- 6:34Speaker 2: she was at that time just Joanna Garcia correct, And
- 6:38Speaker 2: then I know she was in it. I don't know
- 6:41Speaker 2: if it's a Netflix show or a Hulu show or
- 6:43Speaker 2: what it is. Is it Sweet Magnolia's that came out
- 6:47Speaker 2: last year show? Yes, okay, and I didn't. I think
- 6:50Speaker 2: I watched like one or two episodes and wasn't really
- 6:52Speaker 2: into it. But now I think I'm going to revisit
- 6:54Speaker 2: because I find her so I don't care put my
- 7:00Speaker 2: finger on it. Likable like easy chart, I.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Just yeah, she was in Once upon a Time?
- 7:08Speaker 2: Oh my god, was she really? She was?
- 7:11Speaker 1: She played Ariel. But I just enjoy her. I agree
- 7:16Speaker 1: that she's very likable and pleasant to watch. And Sweet
- 7:20Speaker 1: Magnolia is now that you're like kind of in the
- 7:21Speaker 1: Hallmark movie world. It kind of has that Hallmark feel
- 7:25Speaker 1: to it. It's based on a series of books. But
- 7:30Speaker 1: it's perhaps a little bit grittier.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Oh okay, I like gritty, so yeah.
- 7:35Speaker 1: It's not it's not dark, but it is definitely like Hallmark.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Plus, I will give you an update because if there
- 7:42Speaker 2: was only one season of the Sweet Magnolia's I'm sure
- 7:44Speaker 2: I could knock it out by the weekend. So next week.
- 7:46Speaker 1: There was also one, and there's another one coming back,
- 7:49Speaker 1: and god love interest in Sweet Magnolia's is. I would
- 7:53Speaker 1: suggest you watch it.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Okay, it's great, all right, all right, I'm gonna I'll
- 7:56Speaker 2: turn it on today.
- 7:59Speaker 1: That is it for news and notes for me. So
- 8:01Speaker 1: let's go to first impressions. I want to hear yours first.
- 8:04Speaker 2: This is the best movie of twenty twenty one.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Agree.
- 8:08Speaker 2: I love this movie so much. Now let me tell
- 8:11Speaker 2: you for me. I usually record these movies Saturday Saturday
- 8:15Speaker 2: night when they premiere, and then I'll watch it on Sunday,
- 8:18Speaker 2: sometimes Monday morning. Before we record this particular Saturday night,
- 8:22Speaker 2: I was like, okay, I'm going to turn it on
- 8:25Speaker 2: and watch it because I have been looking forward to
- 8:28Speaker 2: this one all of Spring Fleeing and I watched the
- 8:31Speaker 2: entire movie Saturday night after ten o'clock. Mind you, I
- 8:37Speaker 2: didn't fall asleep, which I typically do, and I like
- 8:41Speaker 2: fast forward through every commercial because I was so excited
- 8:44Speaker 2: to see what was going to happen next. I loved
- 8:46Speaker 2: this movie top to bottom.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I agree, I also loved it. I loved everything about it,
- 8:54Speaker 1: and I think you'll see in some of the comments
- 8:56Speaker 1: I have to make that this really stood apart from
- 8:59Speaker 1: the other movies for me in so many ways. I
- 9:03Speaker 1: loved it. Yeah, me too, Whendy, and I even speculated
- 9:08Speaker 1: that maybe this movie wasn't originally supposed to be a
- 9:11Speaker 1: Hallmark movie the Hallmark bought it. I don't know, guys,
- 9:14Speaker 1: but it's it's a standout.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Who can give us that information? Like who would where
- 9:20Speaker 2: would that information be? Like I was wondering if IMDb
- 9:25Speaker 2: would have that, but maybe not. And this is why
- 9:28Speaker 2: I say this, because it features two very well known actors, right,
- 9:35Speaker 2: people who are outside of the Hallmark sphere. It's shot
- 9:41Speaker 2: on location, not in Canada, and I don't it didn't
- 9:46Speaker 2: fall into the you know, the Hallmark template, So it
- 9:52Speaker 2: just felt like a different production movie. I don't know.
- 9:57Speaker 2: So you may.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Recall during our interview with Drew Lee Sherman Wolf that
- 10:01Speaker 1: she mentioned we were talking about her hockey movie, which
- 10:05Speaker 1: the name escapes me right now.
- 10:07Speaker 2: What was that called taking a Shot at Love?
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yes, we were talking about Taking a Shot at Love
- 10:11Speaker 1: with Julie Sherman Wolf, and she talked about a different
- 10:13Speaker 1: movie that she had also written that was premiered during
- 10:18Speaker 1: countdown to Christmas, and she mentioned that the cast in
- 10:21Speaker 1: that movie was so good and they would never get
- 10:24Speaker 1: them outside of COVID, and they were able to get
- 10:27Speaker 1: these people because they weren't working as much. Broadway was
- 10:32Speaker 1: shut down, a lot of production was shut down, so
- 10:34Speaker 1: they were able to get actors that they might not
- 10:36Speaker 1: normally have been able to get for the filming of
- 10:39Speaker 1: a Hallmark movie. And so perhaps we got a little
- 10:41Speaker 1: bit of that happening here as well.
- 10:44Speaker 2: That's very fair. I think that could definitely be a reason.
- 10:50Speaker 2: But then explain to me Ireland, like I didn't I
- 10:55Speaker 2: with COVID and everything, I would think that, like, oh,
- 10:58Speaker 2: let's go shoot in Ireland.
- 11:00Speaker 1: That seems really We also had what were the love
- 11:05Speaker 1: movies called Love ever After? Yes, we had a movie
- 11:09Speaker 1: in the Love ever After series that was filmed in
- 11:11Speaker 1: Europe as well. So perhaps right, Ireland does have quarantine requirements.
- 11:18Speaker 1: But my understanding so they have come and gone, but
- 11:21Speaker 1: you can. My understanding is Ireland was one of the
- 11:23Speaker 1: few places you could actually go assuming you do quarantine.
- 11:28Speaker 1: And my understanding also, and the reason I know this
- 11:30Speaker 1: is because my parents are huge fans of Ireland, so
- 11:32Speaker 1: they've kept close eyes on the Ireland travel requirements. Not
- 11:36Speaker 1: that they were ready to travel at that point, but Ireland,
- 11:39Speaker 1: in spite of having quarantine requirements, they weren't strongly enforcing
- 11:44Speaker 1: them all the time because they rely so heavily on tourism.
- 11:48Speaker 1: But I do I know that Ireland was one of
- 11:50Speaker 1: the few places you could go with a quarantine. Some
- 11:53Speaker 1: places you couldn't go at all, whether you're quarantined or not,
- 11:55Speaker 1: but Ireland you could. So I interesting, that's the answer
- 11:59Speaker 1: to that question.
- 12:00Speaker 2: It's just very interesting.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Okay, what did you like about this movie?
- 12:04Speaker 2: I was while I was preparing for this podcast, I
- 12:07Speaker 2: was writing down like the things I liked about it,
- 12:10Speaker 2: and it's hard to pinpoint, like, yes, I loved that
- 12:15Speaker 2: it was filmed in Ireland and it was so beautiful,
- 12:18Speaker 2: And there has been very few movies with the exception
- 12:23Speaker 2: of the ones that were filmed in bamp Bamp. I
- 12:27Speaker 2: have the hardest time saying that word. But this one
- 12:29Speaker 2: like made me want to go there, like may like
- 12:34Speaker 2: it like churned some sort of like feelings in me.
- 12:37Speaker 2: That was, like, I this has to be one of
- 12:40Speaker 2: my like bucket list travel locations. It has to be.
- 12:44Speaker 1: It's such a special place.
- 12:45Speaker 2: It's so beautiful. But like when I think about like Ireland,
- 12:49Speaker 2: I go, what's there to do there? Like I don't,
- 12:52Speaker 2: I have no idea, Like I mean, it's just beautiful.
- 12:55Speaker 1: It's a lot of sight seeing, you know. I mean
- 12:56Speaker 1: it's it's sight seeing, it's historical, so kind of I
- 13:00Speaker 1: think that's a lot of Europe, right, It's a lot
- 13:03Speaker 1: of historical sight seeing. There's a lot to see in Dublin,
- 13:07Speaker 1: but once you get down to the country, it's just like,
- 13:09Speaker 1: look at how beautiful this is. And a lot of
- 13:11Speaker 1: these places you're kind of just going and enjoying, like
- 13:13Speaker 1: the little town and the people, and it's definitely not
- 13:18Speaker 1: I think there's not definitely places like Dublin have night life,
- 13:22Speaker 1: but it's not like going to New York, although again
- 13:25Speaker 1: Dublin has shows and Dublin has sports. Oh oh yeah, yeah,
- 13:30Speaker 1: we were there. There was a huge rugby I need
- 13:34Speaker 1: to ask my husband. We got there and our driver
- 13:37Speaker 1: from the airport to the hotel was talking about how
- 13:39Speaker 1: the next night there was this huge ice think it
- 13:42Speaker 1: was rugby like, and it was New Zealand versus Dublin,
- 13:45Speaker 1: and it was apparently a big rivalry. And we actually
- 13:47Speaker 1: tried to get tickets because we were like, well that
- 13:49Speaker 1: sounds like fun, like if we're Cary, might as well
- 13:51Speaker 1: like and we could it. But yeah, but we did. Yeah,
- 13:55Speaker 1: there were definitely big buses of people going over to
- 13:58Speaker 1: the stadium. So places like Dublin, there's a lot going on.
- 14:03Speaker 1: And then you get out into the countryside and it's like,
- 14:04Speaker 1: let's just enjoy. My parents like a place called Sheen
- 14:07Speaker 1: Falls and they just like it because it's beautiful and
- 14:10Speaker 1: quiet and you can go for a walk, or you
- 14:12Speaker 1: can go for a horseback ride, or you can.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that sounds amazing. It sounds there's dreamy, dreamy.
- 14:20Speaker 2: It is sounds like, yeah.
- 14:21Speaker 1: It is, it is dreamy.
- 14:24Speaker 2: I have one couple questions, because Megan, you've been there
- 14:28Speaker 2: a couple times. Are the people friendly there?
- 14:32Speaker 1: Oh my god, it's the nicest people in the world, honestly,
- 14:35Speaker 1: and not every country in the world is big fans
- 14:39Speaker 1: of Americans, right.
- 14:40Speaker 2: That was my second question. Do they like Americans?
- 14:43Speaker 1: They certainly act like they do. Okay, Now, tourism is
- 14:47Speaker 1: their biggest industry, so they're big fans of tourists. But
- 14:52Speaker 1: my feeling there is that they enjoy Americans. Obviously, Americans
- 14:56Speaker 1: have kind of made a mess of ourselves lately, and
- 14:58Speaker 1: they're real clear about how they feel about, you know,
- 15:01Speaker 1: our former president. But by and large, they enjoys. They
- 15:05Speaker 1: call themselves the fifty first date.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Oh that's funny. That's really funny. Tell me some things
- 15:11Speaker 2: you liked about this movie.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Okay, Well, the first thing I wrote was everything like
- 15:16Speaker 1: you said, like I did. Overall, Yeah, it was a
- 15:19Speaker 1: beautiful I loved watching it. I love the accents. I
- 15:22Speaker 1: love the Irish accent. But I loved Lindsay's green dress
- 15:28Speaker 1: at the find at the final party at.
- 15:30Speaker 2: The whole wasn't that part so pretty? It was so pretty?
- 15:34Speaker 2: And I think I hear, yes, I think that's why
- 15:36Speaker 2: you love it because you're a redhead as well, and
- 15:39Speaker 2: so you're like, I can see myself wearing that dress,
- 15:42Speaker 2: right right.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I did enjoy seeing Alan Leach. I'm a huge Downton
- 15:48Speaker 1: Abbey fan, and I enjoyed his character in Downton. I
- 15:52Speaker 1: have rewatched the season a couple series a couple of times.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I've only seen the movie once, but it kind of
- 15:57Speaker 1: made me want to go back and rewatch the movie again.
- 16:00Speaker 1: It just kind of felt like coming home like these
- 16:02Speaker 1: old characters. And like you said, I feel like I
- 16:06Speaker 1: could have watched this movie on mute and enjoyed it
- 16:09Speaker 1: simply because the scenery was so beautiful, and that is
- 16:12Speaker 1: what Ireland looks like. It's kind of like you don't
- 16:15Speaker 1: believe it until you get there. Yeah, gosh, it was
- 16:19Speaker 1: so beautiful. I'm so excited.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Okay. I have a note here too that I loved
- 16:24Speaker 2: Lindsay's clothes. That's exactly what I would want to wear
- 16:27Speaker 2: if I were to go to Ireland. She just always
- 16:29Speaker 2: looked so cute. I loved it. She looked so pretty
- 16:33Speaker 2: and romantic and I don't know, give it to me all.
- 16:38Speaker 2: What I really liked in this movie too, is I
- 16:41Speaker 2: liked the different activities that were a part of the
- 16:45Speaker 2: you know, matchmaking festival, which is just you know, like
- 16:49Speaker 2: they that sport that they were doing. It was kind
- 16:52Speaker 2: of I don't even know what that sport was called.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Do you remember? It was like a cross between like
- 16:58Speaker 2: soccer and football and cross.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Yeah, wasn't that rugby they were playing?
- 17:03Speaker 2: Oh god, I don't know. I have no idea. I
- 17:05Speaker 2: don't was it rugby? I might have to I might
- 17:08Speaker 2: have to go back and watch. I don't know. I
- 17:10Speaker 2: thought they were calling it something else, like something. I
- 17:13Speaker 2: don't know. I just thought that whole scene was so
- 17:16Speaker 2: funny and where she was like trying to do it
- 17:19Speaker 2: and then she was like frustrated. I just it felt
- 17:23Speaker 2: it made me feel like she's a great actress because
- 17:26Speaker 2: that could have gone like so cheesy with the wrong actress.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and they have the knitting scenes and the baking scenes.
- 17:36Speaker 2: When he puts all that salt in her thing. Yeah,
- 17:39Speaker 2: that was so cute. It was cute. The only thing
- 17:42Speaker 2: I was wondering though, like those are supposed to be
- 17:45Speaker 2: like matchmaking, but she was like there was no other dudes,
- 17:48Speaker 2: Like when she was knitting or when she was baking.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Yeah, that is interesting. I don't have an explanation for that.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I mean, this is I'm now nitpicking what I thought
- 17:59Speaker 2: was a perfect movie.
- 18:00Speaker 1: So well, and also like that suggests that, like women
- 18:05Speaker 1: are all there to meet men, and maybe perhaps or not,
- 18:07Speaker 1: maybe they're just a variety of activities. So they have
- 18:10Speaker 1: sports where you're maybe gonna have a co ed audience,
- 18:12Speaker 1: and then they have m knitting where maybe women would
- 18:15Speaker 1: meet other women.
- 18:15Speaker 2: And well, see, that's what I think they've could have changed.
- 18:18Speaker 2: They could have totally taken out the match making element
- 18:22Speaker 2: of this movie and it still would have stood. She
- 18:26Speaker 2: could have just been doing activities that the town offered,
- 18:30Speaker 2: because if they're going to put a resort there, right,
- 18:34Speaker 2: m hm, you want to go someplace that that offers
- 18:38Speaker 2: like authentic whatever sports and activities and experiences.
- 18:45Speaker 1: So I think they Mark loves a festival.
- 18:48Speaker 2: I get it. I love it. I want to go
- 18:51Speaker 2: to a Hallmark festival. But I think they could have
- 18:55Speaker 2: like taken the match making part out of it. I
- 19:00Speaker 2: hear you, It still would have worked in my opinion.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Did you like anything else about this movie?
- 19:05Speaker 2: I did. I like the pace. I thought it moved nicely,
- 19:09Speaker 2: like I told you, like, I was never bored once
- 19:12Speaker 2: I fast forward through all the commercials so I could
- 19:15Speaker 2: see what would happen next. I really liked Brennan's like
- 19:19Speaker 2: Whiskey venture. I thought that was like a interesting, like
- 19:24Speaker 2: side story. I liked andistic, realistic. And the other thing
- 19:30Speaker 2: too that I thought was funny because you know, in
- 19:33Speaker 2: all the Christmas movies, it's always hot cocoa or cider
- 19:36Speaker 2: or whatever. Sometimes we get some wine. Here we are
- 19:39Speaker 2: drinking some straight up whiskey, and I was like, oh right,
- 19:42Speaker 2: I not that like. I just I don't know. I
- 19:46Speaker 2: just liked it as like a story element. I thought
- 19:49Speaker 2: it was like a fun I don't know, I just
- 19:51Speaker 2: thought it was a fun story.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I liked that there was a three month break between
- 19:54Speaker 1: when she leaves and when they kind of come back together,
- 19:57Speaker 1: because I think that is realistic. Ye you know, sometimes
- 20:01Speaker 1: we see the Okay, I'm just going to forsake my
- 20:02Speaker 1: job and I'm going to stay here for you, but
- 20:04Speaker 1: the reality was she wasn't ready to make that choice,
- 20:07Speaker 1: and she needed to go back to her job and
- 20:08Speaker 1: figure out what was and wasn't working. And of course
- 20:12Speaker 1: we do get the miraculous, I find a job that's
- 20:15Speaker 1: going to put me in Ireland. But yeah, I did
- 20:18Speaker 1: like that it was not an immediate jump to that solution.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Well see, so I like that too. I like that
- 20:24Speaker 2: they slowly developed feelings for each other and still at
- 20:28Speaker 2: the very end it was like, okay, yeah, we had
- 20:30Speaker 2: a kiss, But it wasn't like set and stone of
- 20:32Speaker 2: like I'm going to live here with you or we're
- 20:34Speaker 2: going to get married or whatever. It was like, Okay,
- 20:37Speaker 2: I'm I'm into you, You're into me. Let's figure this out,
- 20:41Speaker 2: you know, right. And and on the flip side, it
- 20:44Speaker 2: wasn't like he was this total jerk off at first
- 20:47Speaker 2: and she hated him, you know. It was kind of like, oh,
- 20:51Speaker 2: you know, we I don't know. There was there was
- 20:54Speaker 2: enough like friendly tension between the two of them that
- 20:57Speaker 2: didn't feel like typical Hallmark movie for me.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Right, they were able to create conflict without one of
- 21:04Speaker 1: them being mean or rude.
- 21:06Speaker 2: To the other.
- 21:06Speaker 1: They just kind of built their friendship over time exactly.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Okay, So one last thing that I really liked about
- 21:14Speaker 2: this movie, and this is what what stands out for me,
- 21:18Speaker 2: is that this movie to me as a year was
- 21:21Speaker 2: more than a like love story between these two, and
- 21:27Speaker 2: it was more about she really cared for like the
- 21:31Speaker 2: people and the and the town after being there and
- 21:37Speaker 2: and you know, and thought about like the ramifications of
- 21:41Speaker 2: like putting a resort in this kind of place and
- 21:43Speaker 2: what it would do to the people, and and and
- 21:46Speaker 2: then on the flip side of losing that resort because
- 21:48Speaker 2: the town needed the money, like how how that was
- 21:51Speaker 2: going to affect these people? And I just I really
- 21:53Speaker 2: enjoyed it. I just enjoyed it so much.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Yeah, they Brennan had growth in coming to you know,
- 22:00Speaker 1: decide to grow his business, and she kind of discovered
- 22:03Speaker 1: what she wanted in a job. She wanted the ability
- 22:06Speaker 1: to build these relationships as opposed to like going in
- 22:08Speaker 1: making the deal and moving on to the next thing.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I feel like there was growth across the board for
- 22:13Speaker 1: all of these people. Yeah, and the stories all made sense.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I agree. I absolutely agree.
- 22:19Speaker 1: So let's talk, oh roadblocks placed in the way of
- 22:22Speaker 1: our movie couple.
- 22:24Speaker 2: The first one I have is that Lindsay's boss suddenly
- 22:29Speaker 2: starts looking at Dublin as a second option for this resort.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I got so mad.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I was like, no, you can't dude, that I was like,
- 22:38Speaker 1: what are you doing, dude?
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah, Like you wouldn't you know that before? Like, wouldn't
- 22:44Speaker 2: you have vetted out all these other places before you
- 22:47Speaker 2: try to acquire this property?
- 22:50Speaker 1: Right, You've gone in and you've kind of made these
- 22:51Speaker 1: promises and then you're going to back out. I just
- 22:54Speaker 1: I could feel like the churning anxiety for her when
- 23:00Speaker 1: that happened, because if I were in that position, I'd
- 23:02Speaker 1: be like, I've made all of these promises to these people,
- 23:04Speaker 1: and now he's going to come in and pull out
- 23:05Speaker 1: of the deal. And even though it wasn't her choice personally,
- 23:10Speaker 1: I could I was thinking how guilty I would feel.
- 23:13Speaker 2: In Oh my gosh, yes, because she's like personally invested
- 23:16Speaker 2: in these people's lives, right right, you know she cares
- 23:21Speaker 2: about them or I don't. I don't know. I mean
- 23:23Speaker 2: I guess as much as you can care about somebody.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Was she there like a week or whatever? Right right?
- 23:29Speaker 2: But still you know it's like maybe she like fell
- 23:32Speaker 2: in love with the place and the people there, and
- 23:35Speaker 2: now she was going to feel really guilty if like
- 23:37Speaker 2: the deal fell apart.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Yeah I have uh. Oh, Ellen doesn't trust Lindsay's intentions.
- 23:42Speaker 1: She has to earn his trust that she's in it
- 23:46Speaker 1: for the good of the town, and I'm not sure
- 23:48Speaker 1: that when she arrives she necessarily is in it for
- 23:50Speaker 1: the good of the town, right, right, She needed to
- 23:52Speaker 1: make the deal, and then she kind of grows to
- 23:55Speaker 1: love the people in the town and to want to
- 23:57Speaker 1: make choices that are gonna be mutually beneficial exactly.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I have Oh, Lindsay takes upon herself to do something
- 24:05Speaker 2: about the distillery. But was that ever explained? I don't remember.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Why he was so hesitant. Yeah, I never got maybe
- 24:14Speaker 1: I missed it, but I didn't he just other than
- 24:16Speaker 1: like he I don't know, maybe he didn't believe in
- 24:18Speaker 1: it enough. I don't know what was holding him back.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Yeah, because she was kind of like pushing him to
- 24:23Speaker 2: do it. And then I just don't remember them having
- 24:26Speaker 2: a talk about it. But it doesn't matter.
- 24:28Speaker 1: But he was still like set with her when he
- 24:30Speaker 1: found out when she was like, there's this space, and
- 24:32Speaker 1: he was like, you need to stay out of it,
- 24:34Speaker 1: And I was like, but why why?
- 24:37Speaker 2: But why? She's a businesswoman and she sees the potential here, so.
- 24:40Speaker 1: All right, but she kind of apologizes for it in
- 24:44Speaker 1: the end, and I was like, well, maybe you don't
- 24:45Speaker 1: apologize for that. I don't know.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I hear, I hear.
- 24:49Speaker 1: What did you wish for?
- 24:51Speaker 2: One very small thing?
- 24:53Speaker 1: Okay?
- 24:54Speaker 2: At times I had a very hard time understanding what
- 24:56Speaker 2: they were saying, so yes, yeah, yeah, I should have
- 25:01Speaker 2: put on, you know, the close caption so I can read.
- 25:06Speaker 2: But there was it was either like they spoke too
- 25:10Speaker 2: fast and I couldn't understand, or the sound levels were
- 25:15Speaker 2: a little bit weird but but not enough for me.
- 25:19Speaker 1: As they do use Irish slang or Irish words.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Right would you wish for? All?
- 25:26Speaker 1: I wrote was more I watch a series starring these two.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I think it could totally make a series and I
- 25:36Speaker 1: would watch it, and they could build out the relationships
- 25:38Speaker 1: in the town and those three women from Australia. I
- 25:42Speaker 1: could have a recurring role, and I just think that
- 25:46Speaker 1: this I would I would watch more of this.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I mean, this could be the next Wind Calls the
- 25:51Speaker 2: Heart right, right? Did you think it could be like
- 25:53Speaker 2: a series? Each I love it, I love it.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Just call it Klabby and then you're set there you go,
- 26:01Speaker 1: that's right?
- 26:02Speaker 2: Okay, So I want to talk about quickly the castle situation. Megan.
- 26:09Speaker 2: You've been to Ireland several times and have you stayed
- 26:13Speaker 2: in a castle resort type place before?
- 26:17Speaker 1: So I've been there twice. The first time was on
- 26:20Speaker 1: a cruise in my early twenties with my mother's we
- 26:22Speaker 1: didn't stay anywhere, and then the second time was two
- 26:25Speaker 1: years ago. We went with my family and my parents
- 26:28Speaker 1: and we part of the time we stayed in a
- 26:32Speaker 1: Dare manor, which is a manor house that looks like
- 26:35Speaker 1: a castle. And I looked up the difference because I
- 26:39Speaker 1: was like, what's the difference, And the only difference between
- 26:41Speaker 1: a manor house and a castle is that a castle
- 26:43Speaker 1: is built for defense, but an otherwise they're essentially the
- 26:48Speaker 1: same concept. So a Dare manor, it's in County Limerick
- 26:53Speaker 1: and it is was once the home of a former
- 26:57Speaker 1: earl and is now a very nice hotel. And from
- 27:00Speaker 1: the outside it looks like a beautiful castle, and on
- 27:03Speaker 1: the inside it feels like a luxury hotel. So the rooms,
- 27:08Speaker 1: you're not like, I'm in a tiny room with a
- 27:10Speaker 1: little like tiny U shaped window, right like you're in
- 27:14Speaker 1: a beautiful hotel room. But from the outside it looks
- 27:17Speaker 1: like a castle, and there are parts of it you're
- 27:19Speaker 1: walking through the outdoor spaces and you feel like you're
- 27:21Speaker 1: in a castle. So I think she was on the
- 27:24Speaker 1: right track here trying to create this combination castle hotel situation.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Right. That's that's why I wanted to ask you about that,
- 27:32Speaker 2: because I thought this is not a totally foreign concept,
- 27:35Speaker 2: like that would totally draw tourism to stay in like
- 27:39Speaker 2: what was once a castle, but now it has the
- 27:44Speaker 2: luxuries of like great travel, you know, great hotel, great resort.
- 27:50Speaker 2: I would go there. I would absolutely go there.
- 27:53Speaker 1: One hundred percent. I mean a dear manner at one
- 27:55Speaker 1: point was voted like the nicest hotel in the world.
- 28:00Speaker 1: And look, four seasons is great, right, But if you're
- 28:04Speaker 1: going to be in the middle of this huge, rolling
- 28:07Speaker 1: green space, do you just want another attractive hotel building
- 28:12Speaker 1: or do you want something that speaks to the history
- 28:14Speaker 1: of the place that you're in. I feel like it's
- 28:16Speaker 1: kind of an obvious cell. I do think his choice
- 28:21Speaker 1: of Dublin for the kind of hotel that they wanted
- 28:23Speaker 1: to build makes sense because Dublin's a city it has
- 28:26Speaker 1: a lot of you know, it mixes kind of like
- 28:29Speaker 1: the modern and a lot of the history. So you
- 28:32Speaker 1: could build a brand new structure in Dublin and be successful.
- 28:36Speaker 1: But in the fake town of Callabbe in County Limerick,
- 28:41Speaker 1: we'll post pictures of a dare Manor. You kind of
- 28:43Speaker 1: want to build on the history?
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree? So would you watching this movie? I'm
- 28:50Speaker 2: going to go to IMDb real quick. One of the
- 28:52Speaker 2: quotes said. One of the reviews said, this movie is
- 28:55Speaker 2: not for an old building lover. So if you're like
- 29:01Speaker 2: really into castles, are you going to be super devastated
- 29:04Speaker 2: if like this hotel company knocked the castle down and
- 29:08Speaker 2: built a resort there.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Yeah, And I don't think it fits, like it doesn't
- 29:11Speaker 1: fit the town like a brand modern building doesn't fit.
- 29:14Speaker 1: And yeah I would, especially as you know someone who
- 29:17Speaker 1: lives in the town doesn't want this. Do you want
- 29:20Speaker 1: to go there? I can't get a Marriotte anywhere? Make
- 29:26Speaker 1: it special?
- 29:27Speaker 2: Did you guys tour any other castles while you were
- 29:30Speaker 2: in Ireland?
- 29:31Speaker 1: No? The only like old old castle I've been in
- 29:35Speaker 1: is in other than a dear Manor is in Scotland,
- 29:39Speaker 1: Castle care Nifon, which we will a link to. And
- 29:41Speaker 1: that's like kind of like crumbling, looks like the kind
- 29:45Speaker 1: of castle that was fortified against like defense, like you'd
- 29:50Speaker 1: have cannons. They actually probably didn't have canon's like arrow
- 29:53Speaker 1: spaces at the top. I don't think we went into
- 29:56Speaker 1: other castles in Ireland.
- 30:00Speaker 2: So it's funny because like that doesn't really like appeal
- 30:04Speaker 2: to me much, Like maybe one castle would be fine
- 30:08Speaker 2: and like great, but like I don't have any like
- 30:12Speaker 2: desire to like go toar a bunch of castles, right,
- 30:16Speaker 2: But I feel like that's like what you do when
- 30:19Speaker 2: you go to Ireland or Scotland or wherever, like you
- 30:23Speaker 2: have to go see that stuff.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Well, I mean you should see one. Yeah, what's funny about,
- 30:28Speaker 1: dear Manor is there are some like kind of old
- 30:31Speaker 1: crumbly castle buildings scattered throughout?
- 30:34Speaker 2: Oh?
- 30:35Speaker 1: I know we have pictures somewhere. I find it interesting,
- 30:38Speaker 1: But again I wouldn't necessarily want to spend a whole
- 30:41Speaker 1: trip looking at castles.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you've seen one. You see them all?
- 30:45Speaker 2: Maybe I don't know, I'm a jerk. Sorry, All right,
- 30:49Speaker 2: let's move on to to did just see that? Do
- 30:52Speaker 2: you have any I have a couple.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Okay, So this was the area in which my notes
- 30:57Speaker 1: are a little bit different than typical movies, because here
- 31:00Speaker 1: kind of where we get into the goofiness of Hallmark
- 31:02Speaker 1: movies where we get into those like okay, that was
- 31:05Speaker 1: a little silly, right. We didn't have those call outs
- 31:10Speaker 1: that made it like, oh, this is kind of a
- 31:12Speaker 1: silly movie. Moments, so my did you see that's are
- 31:17Speaker 1: a little bit different. One is the moment when Lindsay
- 31:21Speaker 1: is on the steps of the castle where she's just
- 31:23Speaker 1: gotten the bad news from her boss and Brendan kind
- 31:25Speaker 1: of walks away and leaves her alone, and the camera
- 31:27Speaker 1: pulls back and the fireworks are behind her, and I
- 31:29Speaker 1: was like, this is a whole moment I loved, Like
- 31:33Speaker 1: I got emotional in.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Oh God, really do you did?
- 31:38Speaker 1: I didn't cry, but I was like, I I like
- 31:41Speaker 1: this big moment where, of course I know the fireworks
- 31:44Speaker 1: are you know, sake, but I enployed that moment for her.
- 31:47Speaker 2: That's my note. I was like, what's with the digital fireworks?
- 31:51Speaker 2: It was totally unnecessary to the story.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I think it, yeah, the other than they had talked
- 31:56Speaker 1: about that they were going to have them, and I
- 31:58Speaker 1: think it was kind of like it was supposed to
- 32:00Speaker 1: be a big celebration and the fireworks are happening and
- 32:04Speaker 1: she is not celebrating, So I think it's kind of
- 32:06Speaker 1: the counterpoint to her mood.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Okay, there, but I think that they were not necessary,
- 32:13Speaker 2: but go ahead.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I only had one more, and that is there's a
- 32:16Speaker 1: moment when Brennan comes to Lindsay's room and she's not
- 32:19Speaker 1: expecting it to be him. She's like, I don't need
- 32:21Speaker 1: another cookie. I don't remember what she says, and she
- 32:23Speaker 1: opens it and he's there and he looks at her,
- 32:25Speaker 1: and I was like, he loves her. Like in that moment,
- 32:29Speaker 1: it was a total swoonworthy moment. I was like, they're
- 32:32Speaker 1: gonna kiss right now.
- 32:34Speaker 2: So that's funny that you mentioned this, because you know me,
- 32:37Speaker 2: I always want like hot chemistry between the two, and
- 32:40Speaker 2: I thought there was a lot of chemistry between these two,
- 32:45Speaker 2: Like it just felt natural though it wasn't like a
- 32:48Speaker 2: forced I don't know if it was just because they
- 32:51Speaker 2: have a personal friendship outside of movie making, or they
- 32:56Speaker 2: are great actors or what, but I've very much spot
- 33:00Speaker 2: into their their like feelings for each other. I agree,
- 33:05Speaker 2: you never saw the O'Brien sign on the Oh my gosh.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Yes, how it looked a brand freaking new.
- 33:12Speaker 2: It looked digital digital.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I agree.
- 33:16Speaker 2: I thought it looked like somebody made that photoshop or so.
- 33:20Speaker 2: I don't what was going on with that. Why couldn't
- 33:23Speaker 2: they just use whatever sign was there unless it said, like,
- 33:27Speaker 2: you know, I don't cleaning. Yeah, exactly exactly.
- 33:33Speaker 1: You did notice it? It stood out, yes, yeah, we
- 33:36Speaker 1: have anything else from this?
- 33:38Speaker 2: I do the scene when they're about to kiss kind
- 33:43Speaker 2: of mid movie. Uh, I thought it was different. It
- 33:49Speaker 2: just looked different than like other Hallmark movies. I don't
- 33:52Speaker 2: know what it was. Did you see this? Do you
- 33:56Speaker 2: remember it?
- 33:57Speaker 1: I remember the scene and then they're interrupted?
- 34:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. It was just like the way
- 34:01Speaker 2: that it was shot or something. It was just kind
- 34:04Speaker 2: of weird. I don't know. It was weird, but that
- 34:07Speaker 2: was maybe just me. One last thing. I don't know
- 34:10Speaker 2: if you noticed it. The last couple of Spring Playing movies,
- 34:13Speaker 2: I've been real hyped because they have a popular song included.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Did not notice at the very top of this movie
- 34:21Speaker 2: featured Gwen Stefani's new song slow Clap, Slow Clap.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Didn't notice that?
- 34:27Speaker 2: That's yeah, I knew it was a Gwen Stefani song.
- 34:30Speaker 2: I had to a shazama this morning because like, you
- 34:33Speaker 2: can't put the name of it, but I was like, uh, hey,
- 34:37Speaker 2: look at that budget. I don't know, they've been stepping
- 34:40Speaker 2: up the music budget lately.
- 34:42Speaker 1: I agree, Yeah, it's not just like stock music. Yeah yeah, okay, friend,
- 34:49Speaker 1: what did you rate this movie?
- 34:53Speaker 2: Four stars?
- 34:54Speaker 1: Yes? Me too.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Yeah, this is one that I would absolutely watch again
- 35:00Speaker 2: with throw it on. It was just I loved it,
- 35:02Speaker 2: loved it, loved it, and I like that it doesn't
- 35:05Speaker 2: fit in a specific box of like, uh, holiday or
- 35:10Speaker 2: a certain time of year, because I feel like this
- 35:12Speaker 2: is one that they could show over and over and over.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Yes, I agree, it could be replayed anytime, which I
- 35:17Speaker 1: think will be to its advantage. Also, it's great, so
- 35:21Speaker 1: that's also to its advantage. Okay, yes. Next week is
- 35:24Speaker 1: the final Sprinkling movie, Right in front of Me, which
- 35:27Speaker 1: was written by Julie Sherman Wolf, who is an absolute
- 35:29Speaker 1: delight and if you haven't heard our interview with her,
