- 0:00SPEAKER_01: I had to really trust that the vision I can see for my life, which is books and podcasts and stages and coaching and traveling and all of this fun stuff, that I get to have that.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: And not because I'm any more special than anybody else, but because I'm willing to trust my vision and disappoint others in the process, in the name of like, no, this is actually like what I see for myself.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: And I can't ignore that anymore.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Favorite Self podcast.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: I like to think of it not as your future self or your best self, but your favorite self.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: My favorite self that just makes me feel the truest version of me.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: What lights your favorite self on fire?
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: I'm Carly Ottaway, founder, author, storyteller, and a woman who learned that building a successful life means nothing if it doesn't feel like yours.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: This podcast is for women who are building businesses, raising families, leading movements, and asking themselves, is this it or is there more available to me?
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: This is your invitation to come back to yourself.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Let's dig in.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Before we get into today's episode, I want to personally invite you to something I have been dreaming about for a very long time.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: The favorite self-retreat is happening on October 1st at the beautiful Wisdom Gardens Retreat Center in East Quillenberry.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: This is a full day for the woman who can feel a new chapter calling her, the woman who is ready to reconnect with her deepest desires, trust the vision she has for her life, and step forward with the confidence to create something even bigger than she has allowed herself to imagine.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Together, we'll create space to release the stories, patterns, and beliefs that no longer belong in your next chapter.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: But this day is also about so much more than what you're leaving behind.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: It's about remembering who you are, reclaiming the gifts, dreams, and desires that have always been within you, and becoming the version of yourself who feels safe, worthy, and fully capable of bringing her wildest dreams to life.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: You'll be guided through breath work, subconscious rewiring, reflection, meaningful conversation, and powerful exercises designed to help you clarify what you truly want and confidently step into what's next.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: This really isn't about becoming someone else.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: It's about coming home to the most powerful, expressed, and fully alive version of you and giving yourself permission to dream bigger.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: So if you know you're ready for your next chapter, I would love to have you in the room.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Spaces are limited and spots are already being claimed.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: You can learn more and reserve yours through the link in the show notes.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Now let's get on to the episode.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: In this episode, I'm sitting down with my friend Nicole Crohn for such an expansive conversation on success, manifestation, motherhood, business, money, and what it really means to build a life that feels so aligned.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Nicole shares her journey from growing up in a small town in Nova Scotia to becoming a high school teacher to realizing the traditional version of success that she was chasing wasn't actually what she wanted.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: We talk about the moments that redirected her path, the stories that she had to rewrite around especially disappointing others, and how she eventually found her way into building her business, My Aligned Purpose, which is a wildly successful coaching company that she co-founded with Kayla.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: We also dive into manifestation in a way that feels really grounded and practical.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: And Nicole shares how she blends mindset, neuroscience, and energetic alignment and why manifestation is so much more than just vision boards or positive thinking.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: And of course, we talk about this season of her life as a new mom, the identity shifts that come with that expansion, and what it looks like to keep trusting the vision, even when you're being so tested along the way.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: I love this conversation so much because Nicole is just such a beautiful expander.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: She has this contagious optimism and also a rebellious spirit as a fellow Aries that reminds you what's possible when you stop trying to fit in the box and start trusting what you actually want.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Can't wait for you to hear it.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Hello and welcome back to the Favorite Self podcast.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: I have been so looking forward to this conversation with my dear friend Nicole, my new friend that feels like I've known you for so much longer because we've been in a peer-to-peer mastermind together and just been able to nerd out on fun manifestation and astrology things a little bit behind the scenes.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: But I'm like, you need to be on the podcast.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: We need to dive in deep.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: And I know that you're in such a transformational season right now as a new mom as well.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: So welcome, welcome, Nicole.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: I'm so happy to have you here.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Oh, Carly, I'm so excited.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: And I feel like this peer-to-peer mastermind that we've been in are in.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: Um, every single person, I'm like, oh my gosh, like I love this person for this reason.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: And then when I met you, and especially when we got to like spend so much time together at the spa back in March, I was just like, oh, like you and I really get one another.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: Like I, you know, I feel that way about every individual in different ways.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: And then you and I share so much of the same passions and desires and visions and goals.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: And um yeah, I'm really excited to be here to chat about whatever comes up.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Oh, I love that so much.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: And I feel the exact same way.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: And I think that's what's so cool about this journey.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: And I was like the new one that came into an established group too.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: So I knew a couple of people, but I wasn't sure.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: And you were actually someone who just made me feel so welcome, so at home, and like such a strong sense of belonging.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: I can tell that's a superpower of yours.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I'm I'm just so pumped to dive deeper into your story and share your magic with everyone.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm excited to be here too because I'm obsessed with your podcast.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: I know it's like fairly new.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: And when you released the first three or four episodes, I binged them.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: I was like, oh my treadmill, like get my steps in.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: I'm pretty sure I had my baby strapped me.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: I was like, I'm making this happen.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: I I love your voice, but I also love, you know, the stories that you share and then the people that you bring on.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: Um, so I'm excited to be here and then also to share this with anyone and everyone who will listen.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Oh my God, thank you.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: And that's such a big compliment coming from you as a fellow podcaster, someone who's been in this space for a while.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: And the voice comment especially hit me because I actually like had some feedback on a guest episode not that long ago.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: And I feel like that's like a coming of age kind of piece of the podcasting world.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: There's something about getting comments about your voice, like that feels like it's part of the experience.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: So thank you for that.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: That's so sweet.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: And you were just like truly that bizbesti that, you know, is so supportive and like such an expander in the way that you share and you support in amazing ways.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: So everyone can look to Nicole for how she does that because it's like so important, first of all, that we are able to support each other in this way.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: And if you've been unsure of how to pour into your relationships, especially in the online space, I mean, we live in different provinces, so we don't get together face to face that often.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: You are just such a great example of that.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: And it's so needed.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: All right, let's dive in.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: I love how your story starts in the teaching world.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: I think, I mean, I have a lot of teachers in my family as well.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: And I'm sure there's a lot who can relate to your story in that.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: But I would really love to dive right into the identity shifts that came from going from your high school teacher, right?
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Being a high school teacher, turned CEO, business coach.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: So can you really just take us back to that version of yourself who was still in the classroom?
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: And what did you think at that time that success was supposed to like look and feel like?
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Ooh, what a good question.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: Um, because I actually need to take it back a little bit further because I was ignoring what I thought um success meant to me.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: So whenever I tell this story about how did I go from teaching to having the business that I have now, I actually go back to grade eight.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: So I'm 40.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: I was in grade eight in the year 2000, and I grew up in a super small little town in Nova Scotia.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: It's called Trenton.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: There's like maybe two, 3,000 people max.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: I went to school with the same like 20 kids my whole entire life.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: Um, I, you know, my parents had jobs that they worked at for their entire career from when they were teenagers until they retired at 65.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: Like that is just how a lot of people do it back home.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: And I, you know, we I didn't come from a family where we traveled on airplanes.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: Like we went away, like camping and around Nova Scotia and PEI and stuff like that, but never on like big trips.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: And nobody in my friend group did either.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: Like we were all from this small little town.
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: But in grade eight, the beach came out with Leonardo DiCaprio.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: And me and two of my best friends go to the movie theater and we go and see this movie.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: And I remember, like, I can still remember how I felt sitting in that seat at the movie theater.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: And this is such a great example of like when you're trying to manifest something, having proof that it's possible just like expands it so much.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: All of a sudden, I was like, Thailand, the beach, people who travel, like hostels.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: What is this?
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: Like, I had never experienced anything like that before.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: It was like it opened up a million new pathways in my brain.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: And then I got fixated, obsessed with when I graduate high school, I'm gonna go to Thailand and I'm gonna go to Australia and I'm gonna go to Bali and I'm gonna travel to all these places.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna have like the big backpack and I'm gonna travel around.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna meet people from all over the world, and it's gonna be so cool.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: I don't know what I'll do for work, but I'll figure that out later.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, this is what I want to do.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: And my parents were always super supportive of like, do whatever you want, be whoever you want, like, you know, never tried to steer me in one direction or the other.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: However, my teachers did.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: And school is just really easy for me.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: I, you know, it was just I it was a pretty pretty much coasted through.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: And so all my teachers were like, you should go be a teacher or a nurse or a lawyer or, you know, the typical things.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I want to wear a backpack and go to beaches.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: And then all my friends were, you know, going to university because we were all like ingrained with this message that, you know, back in 2004, this is what you do.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: You get a university degree.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: So this was the beginning of me completely ignoring what I wanted in um the path of what I thought society said was successful.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, okay, well, I guess I'll go to university and and do what?
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: I took a Bachelor of Arts.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't know if anybody recalls, but 2008 was like the biggest recession of our time.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: So I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2008.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: I'm no more employable than I was when I came out of high school.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Now I have a boatload of debt and um I can't get a job doing anything.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: So I was finally like, this is it.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: I'm packing up and I'm moving somewhere that is different than here.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: And so a group of my girlfriends and I, we booked a one-way ticket to Calgary.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: I had never been past Ontario before.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: I went to Ontario once on a road trip with my family.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: And we were like telling everybody who would listen.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: We were like, we're gonna move to Banff, because that's where all the hot guys are snowboarding and we're gonna get bartending jobs and it's gonna be amazing, and we're gonna go to the mountains, and I've never been to the mountains before.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: So we fly out to Calgary, and on the flight out, a couple of people were like, actually, you should check out Camor.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: Never heard of Camor in my life.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: I'm like, all right, everybody's saying Camor is like Banff, but better.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: So we arrive, we spend one night in Camor, we hand out resumes, we're like, let's see what happens.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: We all got jobs of bartending and waitressing.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: And so I spent an entire year living in Camor.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: And for anybody who has never been, Camor is transient.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: It's filled with people from all over the world who are there to snowboard and ski and and do all the wintery things, right?
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: It's Banff essentially.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: And I started meeting people who were like, I'm from Australia, I'm from Bali, I just spent this time in Thailand.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: Like they were it like reignited that that feeling I had in grade eight.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: And I was like, oh my gosh, right.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: Like this is what I want.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: This is all possible.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: So I then started traveling.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: I, you know, got to see all these places and started like backpacking around.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: Me and my girlfriends, we were so broke.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: And we went to Hawaii and we were like literally buying loaves of bread and jars of peanut butter, but we were like, but we're in Hawaii.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: Um, so it's okay.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: Uh, and then by the time I was 25, my friends back home were getting, you know, promotions in their jobs.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: They were starting to have babies, buying homes, getting married.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: And I had this like full-on, oh my God, I'm doing it wrong.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: I'm like having so much fun.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: Everybody's like, I'm living vicariously through you.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: I love your stories, da-da-da.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: And you know, Instagram and stuff.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: I don't think I was on Instagram at this point.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: I definitely wasn't.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, everybody was like loving how I was living my life, but I was like, I must be doing it wrong because you're all doing it this way.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: You're doing it the way my parents have and my aunts and uncles have.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: So uh-oh, I better go get another degree.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, well, I guess everybody said I'd be a good teacher, so I guess I'll do that.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: Um, so I went back and I got another degree, got my bachelor of education, and I got it in um secondary, so I could teach high school.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Now, I love teenagers and I love teaching.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: I am a teacher at heart for sure.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: So I, you know, get my first job.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: It's in northern Alberta, an hour away from the Northwest Territories.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: I'm isolated in the middle of nowhere.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: And I'm there for three years, and I'm with a bunch of other young teachers, mainly from eastern Canada as well, because there's no jobs back east.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: And um what started happening was I loved teaching, I hated the politics.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: Um, I loved the students, I hated being overworked, underpaid, and I was paid really well because I was in this isolated area, but I still wasn't paid for the time I was putting in.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: And then my ex at the time, who I was engaged to, cheated on me.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: And we were just months out from our wedding.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: So our wedding was paid for, everybody had their tickets booked to come to the Dominican for our wedding.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: And I had this holy shit moment of, I think I should just stay because how do I tell my friends and family they're gonna lose their deposits and we're not getting married?
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: And I didn't tell anybody for three days.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: I didn't tell anybody.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: I just sat with the, oh my God, he's cheating on me.
- 15:13SPEAKER_01: I need to call off the wedding.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: I don't know what to do.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: And I went into like pure freeze mode.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: And then finally I called my mom and I was like, here's what's happening, and I think I have to just marry him because of this reason.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: And my mom was like, Oh, hell no, absolutely not.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: We're gonna have this vacation.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: Our whole family is gonna go.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: His family can figure it out.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: They are not going.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: Your friends are not gonna be upset that they've lost their deposit or they can come, but we're all still going.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Okay.
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: So, um, a couple of weeks before that trip that I was supposed to get married was my 30th birthday.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: And me and my sister go to Vegas together, and I'm still a teacher at this time, but now, you know, my ex and I have broken up.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: I'm isolated, I'm partying a lot.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: Um, and my sister was like, Hey, we're kind of worried about you.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Really?
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: I thought I was playing it so cool.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: She's like, Yeah, we're we're a little worried.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, you don't really seem happy or like you're living into your purpose, like you really want to stay living in this northern community.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Yes, I this is where my job is.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: This is what I'm supposed to do.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: And my sister just planted the seed.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: She was like, Well, you know, your friend, my friend Jade, lives in Australia.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: She married a guy who we met in Camard, you know, 10 years ago.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: And um, she was like, You could message Jade and just see if you could go stay with her in Australia for a little bit and take a year off teaching.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: And I was like, No, I can't do that.
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: You can't just take a year off your job.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: And my sister was like, but you can.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: And so that seed was planted.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: And then a week later, we're in the Dominican for what would have been my wedding, and I pick up the book, You Are A Bad Us at the airport.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: I'd never read personal development in my life.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: And I was like, this book is speaking to me.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: I read it on the vacation.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: I closed that book and I was like, I'm gonna resign when I go back up north.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: And so I go back up north and I was like, I'm gonna resign my job.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: And my principal thought I was crazy.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: He was like, This is your classroom.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: It will never be taken away from you if you don't walk away from it.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Yeah, I'm gonna walk away for a year.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go to Australia.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: I applied for my visa online and I'm going and I booked my plane ticket.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: And so at 30, I left teaching and I left the country and I left everything I had and everyone I knew.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: And when I got to Australia, I was like, oh my gosh, it's the beach.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: It's the people I met in Camor, it's all of these people on the beach in cafes, on their laptops.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: And I'm like chatting to people, and everybody's like, Oh yeah, I work from my laptop.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: I'm a digital creator, I'm a content creator.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: This is 2016, 2017.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, oh my God, if these people can figure out how to work from their laptop, and I've got a couple of degrees and I'm a teacher, surely I can figure this out.
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: And so I just started being like, I'm gonna figure this out.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna figure out how I can teach yoga online, how I can create courses online, how I can be a teacher online.
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: And Carly, it was so hard.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: I failed so bad from the 2016 era to 2020.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: I just could not figure it out.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: I was like, how the F are people doing this?
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: Because I didn't understand marketing and sales.
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: Um, and then I met Kayla.
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: I did my coach training, and Kayla did her coach training.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: We got hired by a coach to work in her company.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: And so we met and we were chit-chatting, and I knew what Kayla wanted to build out on her own, and she knew what I wanted to build out on my own.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: And then that coach let us go.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: She was like, It's COVID, you two are on your own.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: So I call up Kayla.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: I'm like, should we go into business together?
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: And she was like, Okay.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: Um, and with Kayla's background in sales and my background in teaching and people and creating, we created a course, and that course took off, and 700 people have taken that course, and we've just never stopped.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: It's been six years of like, what can we do now?
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: And what can we do now?
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: And I've never looked back at teaching.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: So the long-winded answer to what did I think success was back then?
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: I thought it was what society said.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: It was get the job, have a pension, have the benefits, get married, buy a house, have kids.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: And I was terrified of all of those things and I was ignoring them because I was like, I must be doing it wrong.
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: I'm having so much fun.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: I'm out living this life of adventure and travel, and everybody is not doing that.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: And so if I'm like the oddball out here, the outlier, then I must have to change.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: And now what I realize is I'm still an outlier amongst society.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: You know, in our group chat last night, somebody just said we're the two percent here of women build building million-dollar businesses.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: I'm still the outlier, but this time I'm so happy about it because I would never want to be in that box.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: Oh my God.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: So beautiful and fascinating.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: And I'm just like right on your story with you on this roller coaster ride of you getting pulled back into like feeling your calling, starting with the film.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: And, you know, that this is before social media.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: So, fellow small town girly who, you know, we were quite sheltered and we were not exposed to these different ways of living.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: And I I had the same upbringing with my parents that were very much like you can do anything kind of mentality.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: But yes, exactly.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: Like there's so many other things influencing you down a certain pathway.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: And the fact that you would like hear, have follow the calling and then just get pulled back a little bit and then follow it again.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: And it and everything lined up when you were in your authenticity, really, and following that purpose.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: And I believe, you know, this was all the character development that needed to get you to where you are now.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: So no regrets, and that maybe you went off path, even with the fiance who, you know, shattered your world.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: I'm sure at the time it felt like that.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: But wow, and like just that moment of feeling so tested and feeling the pressure of the should I should go through with this wedding with this person who cheated on me and did like the worst thing you could do to someone that you are supposed to be in love with.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: Thank goodness for your mom giving her wise advice.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: And for your sister too, you know, these believers in you, like, oh, there's so many pieces here to get into.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: Thank you for sharing that.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think it's so important to go back there because it's like if I started at teaching, then people might think, like, oh, I always wanted to be a teacher and I wanted to help people in that way.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: And and, you know, this was what I was destined to be.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: It was like, absolutely not.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: I the moment I graduated, I was like, okay, I've checked the boxes.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'm working towards the pension.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: Oh, I've got the benefits.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: I feel miserable.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: What is going on here?
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: I think I'll just drink a lot on the weekend.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: To totally ignore that something doesn't feel right.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: And I'm a big believer in just, you know, that we have the power to rewrite our story at any time.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: So if someone's feeling this where they're just feeling so unaligned in whether it's their work, their relationship, even just their environment or other personal relationships in their lives, remembering that they you have the power to rewrite that story.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: And you're such an expander in that and an amazing example.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: And can you kind of explain in your own words then, like what was that story ultimately that you had to rewrite in order to become the woman that you are now?
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: Well, I would say that initially I was like, I don't want to disappoint my parents.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: And my parents were so happy that I was a teacher, right?
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, they again, they were be do, have whatever you want.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: And I didn't have examples of entrepreneurs in my life.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: So it was like, this was really going out in left field.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: And I was so scared that I, this was the big biggest disappointment to my parents at 30.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: Um, and I remember telling them, like, I'm not gonna go back to teaching.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: And initially, they like my sister said, people were kind of concerned for me.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: So they were like, Yeah, go to Australia, it's fine.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: Um, but then afterwards, after my year was up, they're like, So you're not gonna go back to teaching?
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: And I was like, no, I'm not.
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: I'm like gonna figure this out.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: And I could tell that they were, you know, they were concerned, but to me it felt like, oh no, I'm disappointing them.
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: So I had to really be okay with disappointing others or the the fear that I was disappointing others in the name of not disappointing myself again, getting to a place where I'm like in a job that I'm like, well, you know, everybody else seems to be happy that this is what I'm doing.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: Um, but I'm miserable.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: So to get to where I am today, and it it continues to be that way, you know, disappointing old friendships that are like, you're not who you used to be, or um, you know, you these aren't things that you used to want, or whatever it might be.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: I'm like, yeah, I've grown.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: Um, and I hope you grow too.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: And we're probably just growing in different directions.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: But yeah, it really was this feeling of shit, I feel like I'm letting people down because they don't understand this vision.
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: So I guess that's the other piece of it is like I had to really trust that the vision I can see for my life, which is books and podcasts and stages and coaching and traveling and all of this fun stuff that I get to have that.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: And not because I'm any more special than anybody else, but because I'm willing to trust my vision and disappoint others in the process, in the name of like, no, this is actually like what I see for myself, and I can't ignore that anymore.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: I I feel like I'm having a little bit of an aha moment for you right now, Nicole, just because of the conversation we were having before this episode.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I I we we are people that are very self-aware because we need to be as entrepreneurs building businesses, building ourselves to be able to hold the vision for the business.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: Since releasing my book, Coming Home, one of the things I've heard again and again is that it feels like a mirror.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: Women have told me it felt like having a late-night conversation with a friend, that it really helped them see their own courage, their own heartbreaks, their own hopes, and the parts of themselves still waiting for permission.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: And honestly, that's exactly why I wrote it.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: Coming home is for the woman who is building a business, a family, a life, a dream, and looking to do it in a way that actually feels true to who she is.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: It's a book about healing, storytelling, motherhood, ambition, identity, and the courage to build your own path when the one in front of you doesn't quite fit.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: So if you've been craving a reminder that you are allowed to want more, become more, and still come home to yourself in the process, I think you would love coming home.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: You can grab your copy through the link in the show notes.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: I find, you know, my patterns around whether it's a certain limiting belief or certain block that I've had to work through to get to a next level.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: And when I can look back and see that patterning, and it's not that once I get through it for one level that it goes away, right?
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: It shows up in a different way, kind of it can be sneaky sometimes for that next level.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: And we were talking before we hit record about how you're kind of in in another up level right now, and you're feeling that shift and the shedding process that comes with that.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: And I'm making that connection again around that, like I don't know if it's that fear of disappointing others, but like really choosing yourself.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: And I and I'm sure you can speak to this in like early motherhood as well, and how much things have changed in, you know, boundaries that you've had to set and just like your how your vision has expanded that much more for the business, because now it's not just for you, right?
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: It's for this family, this little one that you've given life to.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: So I'm so curious if you could take us there and reflect on that.
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: Like, do you feel like that is uh a pattern that you can connect the dots to?
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: And how is that showing up in your world now?
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: That whether it is that fear of disappointing others, or you know, as you step into this identity of the seven-figure business owner.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I feel like what's coming up for me right now that like really started to surface right after I had cruise.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: So my baby's five months old.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: Um, was in relation to uh in relation to business specifically.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: And you know, I shared this openly, like full on sobbing to our clients.
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: On we held an event a couple of weeks ago, maybe a month ago now.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: Um, and on the Sunday, we host just our aligned CEO method clients, our mastermind clients.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: And so it's a really intimate day.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: There's like 40 of us sitting around a circle, and I just broke down in tears in front of everybody.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: And I said, Listen, I want to tell you guys how I've been feeling coming back into coaching after having the baby.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: And I have this like deep fear of being irrelevant.
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: And I was just like, if I have the baby, are people gonna be like, what she's not who she used to be, and she's not the coach she used to be, or you know, my content now.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I want to talk about motherhood a lot in my personal brand.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Is that not relevant to building a personal brand?
- 28:59SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, and then I, yeah, just like this this deep, deep fear of I'm not gonna be relevant, therefore, people aren't gonna want to work with me, they're not gonna want to refer me.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: And then here I am, you know, trying to build this business.
- 29:14SPEAKER_01: And it feels like pushing a boulder up a hill because people are like, well, who's Nicole Crohn?
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: And as somebody who loves to podcast and like be front and center, like, give me a microphone, put me on a stage.
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: The fear of being irrelevant is probably like my greatest fear.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: And so that's what I'm working through right now is at a conscious level, I know I'm not irrelevant.
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: On a subconscious level, that is what my self-sabotaging behaviors will lead me to do.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Like, well, you know, I just took a couple of days offline, like I took five days offline.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: And while that felt really good, I can see that there's part of that that can play into, well, if I just kind of like step away, then I'm making myself irrelevant.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: Nobody else is gonna do that to me.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: Like I can see the patterns and the behaviors.
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I'm a mindset coach and I I could know better, should know better.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: So I see that this is what's happening right now.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Now, right now in my line purpose in our business, we are in pre-sale of our book.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: We just came off the back of hosting a sold-out event and we have our venue booked for next year with double the attendees.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: And um, you know, we're coming up on 600 episodes of our own podcast, six years in business.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: Like, there's a lot of milestones, plus, I'm a new mom.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: And uh things have felt really, really challenging the last month.
- 30:47SPEAKER_01: So, on top of me wondering, like, am I relevant?
- 30:51SPEAKER_01: At, you know, if I'm being 100% transparent here on the podcast, this is my like, you know, 3 a.m.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: thoughts.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: Am I irrelevant?
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: Then having really difficult, challenging conversations and interactions and boundaries crossed with people within our company.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: And uh, it's been hard.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: It's been so hard.
- 31:13SPEAKER_01: And so I have to just keep like I was saying to you before we hit record, the thing that keeps me going is I do actually have this like really grounded confidence and trust that this is the vision for my life.
- 31:28SPEAKER_01: And so if the vision for my life is writing books and podcasting and speaking on stage and traveling and coaching, I've gotta be okay that there are people, places, experiences, and things that are gonna fall off along the way.
- 31:42SPEAKER_01: Now, does that mean that I'm like, okay, it's easy?
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: No, it's fucking hard.
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: However, I have to keep coming back to what's the vision spiraling up?
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: Because we can all spiral down.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: I could ask every single person I interact with, like, what's worst case scenario for you?
- 31:58SPEAKER_01: You know, people are like, I don't know, I'm homeless on the streets, or like I'm irrelevant, or I've got to go back and get a J-O-B or whatever it is.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: And so we can all go there, but do we all have the image of spiraling up?
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: Like, best case scenario.
- 32:12SPEAKER_01: And I think in NLP, that is something that I work with people a lot on.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: Like, if you do not have a replacement image for like you can see how bad it can get.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we can all do that.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: That's easy.
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: The hard work is replacing that how bad it can get with how good it can get image and trying to go there as much as possible.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: So when I'm having these super challenging conversations with people that are making me feel like, ooh, like I'm being tested so hard right now, I take a breath and I say, okay, this is not actually the vision that I'm holding for my life.
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: This might be part of the process to get me there, but it's not the vision.
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: So I have to keep going to the vision.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: But if we don't have that, if you don't have a best case scenario or your favorite self or a day, best day of your life, then you are going to automatically fall back to worst case scenario every single time.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, I feels like I'm holding on a little bit tighter these days, but I'm really holding on to no, there is a really great big vision for me.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: And I'm living a really great big vision right now.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: Like I have this baby that I want.
- 33:20SPEAKER_01: I'm my husband is like actually the man of my dreams.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: He's such an incredible supportive husband.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: I live in a home I love, in a city I love, my dog I love, my business I love.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: There's just not some conversations or people that I love interacting with at this moment in time.
- 33:38SPEAKER_01: But what's okay about that is I can let them go.
- 33:41SPEAKER_01: I can shed them.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for that reminder of the importance of the best case scenario, because I think we can all relate to that, how easy it is to spiral into the worst case scenario.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: And like, you know, having the awareness of that and letting yourself go there, I think is also important.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: Like, okay, actually, the worst case scenario, I could handle it.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: I could if if I went there, then I would do this and this would happen.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: But then reminding yourself of the best case scenario and of all the receipts that you have to prove that you are on that path, like you just did for us, including getting ready to launch your book, having this sold-up event and now launching for the next one that's double the size.
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: Like you're totally on that trajectory.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: I'm so curious because I'm knowing that you're heading into this book launch, uh, I'm reflecting on that the months leading up to my own book launch and how I felt so tested by the universe around like the message that I was sharing.
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: So I felt like a little bit as I was writing it, I felt those tests come up.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: But then really when I went to get ready to publish it when the book was written.
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: And then in those months and weeks leading up to putting it out into the world, it was like the universe was asking me, like, are you, do you really believe this?
- 34:51SPEAKER_00: Are you really willing to back this up?
- 34:53SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna test it and see and put, you know, put you through the ringer a little bit to see if this is actually your truth and you are willing to stand behind it.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: So I'm so curious again to connect those dots.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: Can you tell us a little bit about the book?
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: And are you noticing any patterns there?
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, this I know this is your language as a mindset coach and just the reminder of like, we need our own medicine.
- 35:16SPEAKER_00: We need to like you need to be able to coach yourself sometimes and lean on your support as well.
- 35:20SPEAKER_00: But yeah, for the book specifically, are you finding patterns there that feel like you're being tested around the aligned CEO method and what it represents?
- 35:31SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: You know, the funny thing about Kayla and I is we before we ever brought on team, and we have trialed and erred many team over the years, before we ever brought on team, we knew we worked fast, but we didn't like really understand the pace at how fast we worked until we started bringing in team.
- 35:54SPEAKER_01: And every single team member, even our current team, has been like, whoa, I was not prepared for how much you guys do and how fast you do it.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: And we were like, oh, it's like we have this weird where we can read each other's brain waves, where I know Kayla's gonna do this piece of the project, and then I'm just gonna naturally pick up this piece and we don't have to say anything, and it just gets dumb.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: So with the book, we actually started to in the fall of 24.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: So almost two years ago.
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: By the time it goes to launch, it'll be two years.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: The fall of 24, we rented a lake house and we were like, let's write our book.
- 36:31SPEAKER_01: And then, so we write the manuscript or draft of it in this week that we were away.
- 36:38SPEAKER_01: And then um, in the winter of 25, like the start of 2025, we joined Kristen Lori Harder's Elite Mastermind, and we go to their in-person event in March, and everybody had to like make a bet, make a wager sort of thing.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: And at this time, we were like, oh, we're hosting She Leads of 2025.
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: We'll launch our book there, like a year ago.
- 36:59SPEAKER_01: And so we started telling that to our coaches and a couple of people in our program, and everybody was like, No, if you're gonna launch a book right, you can't launch your book in two months.
- 37:08SPEAKER_01: Like, that's not gonna happen.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: And so we were like, oh, okay.
- 37:13SPEAKER_01: Um, well, we'll push it to fall of 25.
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: Then that soon as we left that mastermind in March, we go home and I find out I'm pregnant.
- 37:22SPEAKER_01: So my due date is December.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: We're like, okay, well, we were gonna have this Christmas party that we do every year called the Entrepreneur's Christmas Party.
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: We're like, well, we're not gonna host that because who knows what's gonna happen with my due date, which is crazy because I had the baby almost a month early.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: And um, so we were like, okay, well, we're not gonna launch the book at the Christmas party that we're not gonna do because of the baby.
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: So we'll launch the book at She Leeds this year.
- 37:46SPEAKER_01: Um, and we were kind of just like for the longest time thinking we were gonna self-publish or do some sort of like figure it out on our own situation.
- 37:55SPEAKER_01: We're like, we're pretty resourceful, we can figure this out.
- 37:58SPEAKER_01: And then we were like, okay, but do we half-ass anything?
- 38:01SPEAKER_01: No.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: So we started talking to, you know, a bunch of people, you, everybody who has like written books and like had talked about the process.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: And the people who felt the best about their process had support, had a publishing support.
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: So we were like, okay, maybe we should look into this.
- 38:18SPEAKER_01: So luckily, we were in our mastermind with our friend Jake, and we were like, okay, well, you know, everybody who's in our mastermind has worked with Jake and they love him.
- 38:25SPEAKER_01: So we call Jake up and we're like, hey, this is in February.
- 38:29SPEAKER_01: We're like, we want to launch our book at She Leads in April.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: And he was like, not a chance.
- 38:33SPEAKER_01: There's no way I like I can pull some magic, but there's no way you're gonna successfully launch that book in two months.
- 38:40SPEAKER_01: You can do a pre-launch and then let's build it out over time.
- 38:44SPEAKER_01: So if I'm being super honest with you, we have not had tons of time, energy, focus because of She Leads, uh, new postpartum for me.
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: Kayla went off to Europe for a couple of weeks with our family.
- 38:56SPEAKER_01: We just had a call with the publishing team yesterday and they were like, okay, so are you two like ready to get into it?
- 39:02SPEAKER_01: Because like we've been putting things off, putting it up, putting it off.
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: And what we know to be true is we could put this off till the very last minute and pull off a successful book launch because that's how we roll.
- 39:14SPEAKER_01: We roll fast and we read each other's minds.
- 39:16SPEAKER_01: But we are now starting at the end of May to really pull all the pieces together.
- 39:22SPEAKER_01: Like we have the manuscript written and all of that, but like really pull it together.
- 39:25SPEAKER_01: But what are we doing for launch?
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: Well, we have a date booked and we know that we're gonna throw a party, but we don't have any of the details yet.
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: Um, and for a type A person listening to this, they might be like, oh my gosh, that's only a couple months away and this is a really big deal.
- 39:39SPEAKER_01: It will sort itself out.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: We know that and it will be incredible and we'll be super proud of it.
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: But right now, what we're being tested with is the aligned CEO method.
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: Um, does it work?
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: Or what are the results that it gets?
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: Because that is the book, right?
- 39:57SPEAKER_01: Aligned CEO method, building a million-dollar brand.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: And I think the building piece is important because it's not build, it's not like one and done.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: It's not like you go to the gym, you lift weights, you get the biceps, and then you quit the gym.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: Building, you're always building the million-dollar brand or whatever, however much money you want to make in your business.
- 40:15SPEAKER_01: And so we know we're getting clearer and clearer and clearer that the aligned CEO method, the results are achieved by two very particular categories of people.
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: And we have three categories of people who take our quiz.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: And so our quiz will help you define where you're stuck on bringing more cash flow into your business.
- 40:37SPEAKER_01: And there is a category that is defined as the strategy seeker.
- 40:42SPEAKER_01: And the strategy seeker, you know, one more strategy would really help them out, or that's how they feel.
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: Like if I just have that one more strategy, we know that they're not quite there yet.
- 40:53SPEAKER_01: Aligned CEO method can help them take them from where they are to where they want to go, but they need to put in a little bit more extra legwork because they're newer or they're more at the foundational level.
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: But then we have these two other categories where somebody might take the quiz and they are what we call a maxed-out founder.
- 41:12SPEAKER_01: It's like you own a clinic, you're making six figures a year, you literally are busy and making money, but there's no way you could take on another client right now without exchanging more time for money.
- 41:24SPEAKER_01: That person, aligned CEO method, gets them results because we can teach them how to go from one to one to one to many and scale.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: And then we have our third category, which is what we feel like we're in.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: Um, and so we've we were a strategy seeker, we were maxed out founders, and now we're here, which is what we define as the visionary expert.
- 41:44SPEAKER_01: You have clients, they're paying you, your calendar is booked, you feel good.
- 41:48SPEAKER_01: Now you're looking to speak on stages, write books, get on podcasts, like do that more like visionary stuff.
- 41:55SPEAKER_01: Um, be more seen, have a more visible role in your company.
- 41:59SPEAKER_01: Those two categories, Max Home Founder and Visionary Expert, aligned CEO method absolutely gets them results every single time.
- 42:08SPEAKER_01: However, where we're feeling the stickiness right now is for the people who are more foundational and read this book, they they're gonna have to have the self-awareness to know, like, I'm gonna have to put in a little bit more legwork, just like we all had in the beginning.
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna have to wear multiple hats.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna have to work evenings or weekends or put in some extra hours.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna have to do some uncomfortable things, but then it gets easier and then it gets easier and then it gets easier.
- 42:40SPEAKER_01: Um, and so the book, we're confident in the message, we're confident in the result.
- 42:45SPEAKER_01: We know what it can do for people, and we can see that it is a lot more applicable to two categories of people than it is to one of the others.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: So cool and so interesting.
- 42:56SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm just also a believer in the divine timing, especially when you know you're doing the things and you're embodying, you know, the shift.
- 43:05SPEAKER_00: And there's just like a reason that the timing is not right yet, and it keeps getting pushed and pushed and pushed.
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: So, like you're still just on that path to be who you need to be for when this book is out into the world and to like fully embody the message behind it.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: And um, I'm so excited for that and and the launch and and what comes next, because it's like just the beginning, right?
- 43:25SPEAKER_00: Of this next chapter.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: And I it makes sense with what you're feeling right now.
- 43:29SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm also so curious now, like what year you're in in numerology.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: Do you have any idea?
- 43:35SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 43:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:36SPEAKER_01: So this is a one year.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 43:39SPEAKER_01: Like this, but like it like for everyone.
- 43:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're we're we just started a one year, yes.
- 43:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:44SPEAKER_01: And so I'm in a two year because last year when everybody was in a seven, like a completion or a nine, whatever the completion is, nine, I was in a one.
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Oh, okay.
- 43:54SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, in twenty twenty five at the end, I had my baby, and so I feel like I stepped into like obviously this crazy new identity.
- 44:05SPEAKER_01: Um, I had no idea that I was going to feel this way.
- 44:10SPEAKER_01: And so technically, if if the world is in a one year, I'm in a two, but I don't quite know if it like changes over with the calendar year or with my birth year.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: Your your number is with your birthday.
- 44:25SPEAKER_00: So you would have just entered, right?
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: You're in Aries, and yeah, you would have just entered your two-year then, and everyone else just entered their one year and like all communally in the beginning of the year.
- 44:35SPEAKER_00: I found that, find that so cool again, because you are someone who has always been ahead of the curve and like had to have the courage and the belief and the self-trust to take the unbeaten path, even though the world hadn't caught up yet to your ways.
- 44:54SPEAKER_00: And I mean, even the Aries energy, that's like we're both Aries, so we can let this is the astronomical.
- 45:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, let alone that.
- 45:03SPEAKER_00: So really being the innovator and knowing that you're here to lead in that way, and you need to go first and you know, get through the experience.
- 45:14SPEAKER_00: So oh, I love that stuff.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's funny too, because it's when you understand these things about yourself, like, you know, I can see how some people use it as a crutch, like, oh, I can't, I can't sign up to this event because I'm a projector and I need to be invited.
- 45:31SPEAKER_01: It's like, oh, okay, come on.
- 45:32SPEAKER_01: Um you don't have to take it to that extreme.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: Um, and there is a lot of awareness.
- 45:39SPEAKER_01: Uh, there's a lot of benefits to the awareness of knowing, like, oh, I'm a generator, I'm a two-four, I'm an Aries, I'm a one in numerology.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: Like, I'll actually I'm a seven, like my number is a seven.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: Um, but your generator, I was gonna ask you that too.
- 45:52SPEAKER_00: If you would Kayla, I was like, are you guys both manny gens with the fast action?
- 45:55SPEAKER_00: But generator, okay, that makes sense.
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: Kayla's a manny gen.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: Manny gen, okay.
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:59SPEAKER_01: I feel misdiagnosed.
- 46:00SPEAKER_01: I often feel like I am a manny gen that is misdiagnosed as a generator.
- 46:05SPEAKER_01: I have every sign of being a manny gen, but I also just think I'm undiagnosed ADHD.
- 46:10SPEAKER_01: So there's that too.
- 46:12SPEAKER_01: And I'm I'm like not even type B, I'm type Z.
- 46:14SPEAKER_01: Like if there's type A, if there's structure organization rules, like people who are afraid of risk.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I love risk.
- 46:24SPEAKER_01: I don't care for a rule.
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: I'm quite rebellious in that way.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: I don't want to follow.
- 46:28SPEAKER_01: Like, if you tell me this is what you have to do and this is why, I'm gonna be like, oh, well, I don't want to do it that way.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: Um, which is funny.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: And Kayla knows that about me, which is helpful.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: She's like, I know that, you know, I don't know if you've ever heard of Gretchen Rubin's four tendencies.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm a rebel in that.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: And that's a really small number.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: And Kayla's an obliger, which is like, you know, the rule follower.
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: Um, and so we're a really interesting, dynamic, complementary pair in that way, where I am such a risk taker, I'm a freedom seeker.
- 46:58SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I always have the trust and the faith, it will work out.
- 47:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:05SPEAKER_00: Which is such a huge skill, or if you want to call a soft skill, I guess, to have as an entrepreneur and so important.
- 47:12SPEAKER_00: And I love those pieces of like where you and Kayla overlap, but also where you like opposites attract and that you found this rhythm that works so well for you, and just like it kind of just happened by accident.
- 47:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, of course, we know that it didn't, but yeah, it felt like that, and that and that's how the best things come together.
- 47:29SPEAKER_00: I I'd really love to dive into the manifestation piece.
- 47:33SPEAKER_00: And I love how you blend like the science of it and the neuroscience of it.
- 47:39SPEAKER_00: And for someone who hears manifestation and maybe still thinks it's just like vision boards or positive thinking, how do you actually explain like your own manifestation process and what that looks like?
- 47:55SPEAKER_00: Can you walk us through that?
- 47:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:57SPEAKER_01: I love to say if somebody says manifestation isn't real, um, then I like to say, well, you just haven't learned how to do it correctly.
- 48:05SPEAKER_01: Because uh, once you understand that manifestation is simply desiring a person, a place, an experience, a thing, having that desire of like, ooh, that would feel good, understanding that the desire makes you feel good, open, expansive, love, joy, grateful, whatever it is, that then you can have that as a lived experience.
- 48:29SPEAKER_01: Like that's what manifestation is.
- 48:31SPEAKER_01: So if you're like, oh, it'd feel really good to eat pizza tonight for dinner.
- 48:36SPEAKER_01: Um, some people might say, Well, then yeah, I would just go buy pizza.
- 48:40SPEAKER_01: Okay, sure.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: And maybe your partner comes home and is like, I've had a long day.
- 48:46SPEAKER_01: I don't really feel like cooking.
- 48:47SPEAKER_01: Do you want to order in pizza?
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: Like it's the it's those synchronicities, the way things work like that.
- 48:51SPEAKER_01: And I always joke and say, like, I've been manifesting since I was a teenager because again, small town, no internet.
- 48:57SPEAKER_01: I'd call my mom up at work.
- 48:58SPEAKER_01: I'd be like, Hi mom, can you um what are we having for supper tonight?
- 49:03SPEAKER_01: And, you know, home after school, just like looking for something to eat.
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: And I'd be like, please say pizza, please say pizza.
- 49:09SPEAKER_01: And she's like, Oh, I don't know.
- 49:10SPEAKER_01: I don't really feel like cooking.
- 49:11SPEAKER_01: I'll just stop and get you a pizza on the way home.
- 49:13SPEAKER_01: I'm like, yes.
- 49:14SPEAKER_01: Um, I thought it and it came true.
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: Um, and so I really think that's what manifestation is.
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: So my process of manifestation is having an understanding of desires, of again, it when I say people, places, experiences, and things, those are my categories that I always use.
- 49:34SPEAKER_01: I say I have a little saying, it's I'm a master attractor, I attract the people, places, experiences, and things that I desire.
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: People could mean your dream person, it could mean your best friend, it could mean your next hire, it could mean your next client.
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: Like it doesn't matter.
- 49:47SPEAKER_01: Like, who who would make your life better today if they arrived?
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: Not like necessarily the exact person, but is it your partner?
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: Is it a friend?
- 49:55SPEAKER_01: So I think about that.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: Places, like places could be, I would really like my office to be like this way.
- 50:02SPEAKER_01: It would make me work better, or I would like to go to the beach or whatever it might be.
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: So calling in places, experiences, I mean, experiences we could go off the hook with how many different experiences people want to have.
- 50:14SPEAKER_01: And then things are just like tangible things, like I'd like a new phone.
- 50:17SPEAKER_01: Okay, so you allow yourself to want what you want, to desire what you want to desire.
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: And I think where a lot of people get caught up is they're like deep down, they're like, oh, but I would have to justify that desire.
- 50:29SPEAKER_01: I often think about how I used to say before I ever had kids, if I had kids, I think I'd want to homeschool them from my past teaching experience and being in public school.
- 50:38SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh, I think I'd want to homeschool my kids.
- 50:41SPEAKER_01: Um and but then I was like, oh, I don't really want that.
- 50:45SPEAKER_01: But I did really want that, but I didn't want to have to justify that to the people who are like homeschool.
- 50:49SPEAKER_01: Like, why would you do that?
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: So I can see how people talk themselves out of wanting what they want because they think they'll have to justify it to somebody else.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: So you have to really want what you want, allow yourself to have your desires, people, places, experiences, and things, not worry about justifying them.
- 51:05SPEAKER_01: You have to allow yourself to have a standard where you believe that those are available for you.
- 51:10SPEAKER_01: And if you feel like you're dropping your standard or that you don't feel like your standards are high enough, like my standards for men before meeting Jeff were so low, bottom of the barrel breadcrumbs.
- 51:22SPEAKER_01: And I had to take a real hard look at myself and say, I'm the common denominator here in all these relationships.
- 51:28SPEAKER_01: What's happening?
- 51:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, I have literally no standards for the men in my relationships.
- 51:33SPEAKER_01: Okay, we'll have to hire the standards.
- 51:36SPEAKER_01: But why was my standard low?
- 51:38SPEAKER_01: Well, every standard I believe that we have is attached to a story.
- 51:42SPEAKER_01: Well, if I am with somebody that actually is more successful than me, then maybe they'll leave me.
- 51:49SPEAKER_01: So if I'm more successful than them, then they'll need me.
- 51:53SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 51:53SPEAKER_01: So we start to look at like, okay, there's stories attached to our standards, and our standards need to be raised to the level of our desire.
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: But at the end of the day, it really is just like, what do you want?
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: Why do you want it?
- 52:06SPEAKER_01: If you know what you want and why you want it, I always think the how reveals itself.
- 52:10SPEAKER_01: I know the the how always reveals itself.
- 52:13SPEAKER_01: And the timeline we are not in control of.
- 52:16SPEAKER_01: So when people are like, I really want to manifest a million-dollar business, I would say, why?
- 52:23SPEAKER_01: Why do you want to manifest a million-dollar business?
- 52:26SPEAKER_01: Do you even know what you would do with$83,000 a month?
- 52:30SPEAKER_01: Like if you know it was a linear process and you made a million dollars a year and you had$83,000 a month.
- 52:35SPEAKER_01: Do you know what you would do with that money?
- 52:37SPEAKER_01: Because money is energy and it doesn't want to just sit still.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: It wants to be in motion and circulation.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: And so people are like, well, I would do this and I'd do that and da-da.
- 52:45SPEAKER_01: Okay, so you did all that this month.
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: What are you gonna do next month?
- 52:48SPEAKER_01: And then people realize actually, I don't even want a million dollars.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: I don't need a million dollars.
- 52:52SPEAKER_01: A$250,000 year would feel pretty good.
- 52:55SPEAKER_01: Okay, so you actually don't even know what you want.
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: I don't think people sit down and get really clear on what they want.
- 53:01SPEAKER_01: And when I teach, I like to teach this process called My Movies, which I believe Dr.
- 53:08SPEAKER_01: Joe Dispenza is the creator of, um, I like to teach this, teach this process of my movies where essentially you take a vision board, but you make it into a motion picture.
- 53:17SPEAKER_01: So I do it on Canva and I do this whole workshop where I like teach you the NLP subconscious ways of like gathering images that make you feel good.
- 53:27SPEAKER_01: But what I do that is different than I think a lot of other people do is rather than creating a vision board that has like the car that you might someday drive or the house that you might someday live in, it's I create a mind movie that is the like your favorite self.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: It's your it's a day in the life.
- 53:47SPEAKER_01: And so my mind movie shows how I wake up in my most ideal day, like what the bed looks like and the sun coming through the curtains and drinking my coffee and journaling.
- 53:56SPEAKER_01: And then after that, I mean, this is the my movie that I made pre-baby.
- 54:00SPEAKER_01: I have to make a new one now.
- 54:02SPEAKER_01: Um, and then I move into I fuel myself with nourishing healthy food because I've had a weird relationship with food my whole life.
- 54:09SPEAKER_01: Okay, so I want to make sure that I'm reminding myself that fueling myself with food is important.
- 54:15SPEAKER_01: Okay, so I'm gonna do that.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: Um, and then I'm gonna move my body because I know that feels really good.
- 54:19SPEAKER_01: And then I'm going to work because in my ideal life, I love my work.
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: And so it shows my like podcasting studio and then I'm sitting down in that.
- 54:28SPEAKER_01: And then after that, my my movie like transitions into laying out in the sun because if you're gonna ask me what my favorite self is, it's me and the sun.
- 54:37SPEAKER_01: Um, and so I'm laying in the sunshine and I'm I'm solar powered and I'm fueled up by that, and then with people I love, and then I wind down into the evening and I have like these introspective practices, and then I have a glorious eight hour sleep.
- 54:51SPEAKER_01: Do I need a million dollar a year business to live that life?
- 54:55SPEAKER_01: No.
- 54:56SPEAKER_01: Um, does it make living that life easier or more comfortable?
- 54:59SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 55:00SPEAKER_01: Do I know what I really want?
- 55:02SPEAKER_01: Yes, because when you know how you want to live your days, then you know how you want to live your life.
- 55:07SPEAKER_01: But if you're just sitting there being like G Wagon, G Wagon, G Wagon, G Wagon, and that's all you're focusing on, well, you might get the G Wagon, but the journey to getting the G Wagon might not be enjoyable.
- 55:19SPEAKER_01: I think like enjoy the journey.
- 55:21SPEAKER_01: You know, I always tell people if you want to manifest something, you have like the thing, you have to actually think about the process of how you experience it and the journey of getting there.
- 55:35SPEAKER_01: Cause I always say, like, I could book a plane ticket from here to Paris.
- 55:38SPEAKER_01: And, you know, knowing that I'm gonna arrive in Paris regardless, do I want to enjoy that plane ride or do I want to suffer the whole plane ride?
- 55:47SPEAKER_01: Like you're gonna get there anyway.
- 55:49SPEAKER_00: You will and and with the G Wagon too, like you, or you get the G Wagon and you're like, oh, I actually didn't even want the G Wagon, right?
- 55:57SPEAKER_00: Or what you said about the seven-figure business, like you said, you know, and for maybe it's true for you and your business and your structure and systems and and your identity that the seven-figure business does make that easier.
- 56:09SPEAKER_00: But for a lot of people, I bet it actually doesn't because you know, this maybe their business, if it was to hit the seven figures or if it hit too soon or whatever that looked like, they don't have the systems, they don't have the team, and they're actually like so burnt out when what they really wanted was a 500k that was aligned with their true authentic desire.
- 56:31SPEAKER_00: And, you know, it's so easy to to slip up.
- 56:34SPEAKER_00: But I I I love that, and and just like on the desire piece, like really making sure that these desires are authentic to you and they are like really truly aligned with your favorite self.
- 56:48SPEAKER_00: And I and I love that connection as well.
- 56:50SPEAKER_00: And then also the question of asking yourself why instead of how the how, the how is not doesn't need to be part of your process.
- 57:02SPEAKER_00: It's the why.
- 57:03SPEAKER_00: Why do you want the seven figures?
- 57:04SPEAKER_00: Okay, because I want to be able to pay my bills without having to worry.
- 57:07SPEAKER_00: I want to be able to take my family on vacation.
- 57:10SPEAKER_00: I want to be able to do this and this and this.
- 57:11SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 57:12SPEAKER_00: But like, is it why is seven figures specifically?
- 57:16SPEAKER_00: Like, what do you actually need?
- 57:17SPEAKER_00: Have you crunched the numbers?
- 57:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 57:19SPEAKER_00: And is there another way to get there?
- 57:22SPEAKER_00: There's two things.
- 57:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 57:24SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say there's two things I want to say about what you're saying really quickly.
- 57:28SPEAKER_01: The why we'll often do an exercise with our clients where uh we get them to answer why eight times.
- 57:36SPEAKER_01: Okay, why do you want to have a seven-figure business?
- 57:38SPEAKER_01: And they'll go because I want more time with my kids.
- 57:41SPEAKER_01: Why do you want a seven-figure business to have more time with your kids?
- 57:44SPEAKER_01: Why, why, why?
- 57:45SPEAKER_01: And then usually the eighth time there's emotion, there's tears, there's an aha of like, oh my God, this is what I actually want.
- 57:53SPEAKER_01: So for anybody listening, ask yourself what it is that you want and why you want it, and ask yourself why you want that thing and keep answering why eight times.
- 58:02SPEAKER_01: You will reveal something about yourself that is deep within that you probably haven't looked at in a long time.
- 58:07SPEAKER_01: And then the other thing I want to say is like when you're saying, like, it's ask yourself why not how, everybody can reflect on incredible experiences or opportunities that they've had in their lifetime.
- 58:20SPEAKER_01: And I guarantee you, you did not know how it was going to unfold until after the fact.
- 58:26SPEAKER_01: That's why hindsight is 20 2020.
- 58:28SPEAKER_01: We can always look back and be like, oh, that's how the puzzle pieces connected.
- 58:32SPEAKER_01: But it is almost impossible to look forward and be like, this is how the puzzle pieces will connect.
- 58:38SPEAKER_00: And plus, that takes the fun and joy out of it.
- 58:41SPEAKER_00: Totally.
- 58:41SPEAKER_00: And that's the magic of enjoying the process is letting go of that control, really surrendering to the journey and trusting in like to me, that's the magic.
- 58:49SPEAKER_00: Like, magic is one of my authentic pillars, and it's like not even just from like a strictly woo-woo place, it's like truly the magic of the way that the pieces fall into place.
- 59:00SPEAKER_00: And you know, you decide because you're following the whisper to take this path on your walk, and then you meet this person that you randomly run into, or this message downloads, and yeah, like stop trying to have all the answers.
- 59:16SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 59:17SPEAKER_00: And and how can you create those micro experiences?
- 59:20SPEAKER_00: Because I think you also made a huge point of like the different things that you're manifesting.
- 59:23SPEAKER_00: And one is like the actual things, like the house, the car, whatever.
- 59:26SPEAKER_00: For me, I'm like, whenever I wanna, whenever I'm like needing to test my manifestation process, I'm like, okay, I really just want to manifest like a free coffee or a free book.
- 59:35SPEAKER_00: And then that comes through, and I'm like, oh my God, it works.
- 59:39SPEAKER_00: You know, so if you need a reminder, however, that's really still like the surface level layer of it.
- 59:46SPEAKER_00: Ultimately, the why, the eight whys are gonna get you to the feeling, right?
- 59:51SPEAKER_00: The identity of it all, of like who you want to be, yeah, while you're living this life, like that's aligned with your dream desires and the and everything you've manifested.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_00: And then it's like, okay, how can you create those micro experiences that let you feel that now so that you can really embody that energy now?
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_00: And and this you sharing that had me reflect on this past weekend.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_00: And as we said, we're recording in May.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_00: We just had the most beautiful in Ontario.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_00: I assume you guys had good weather too.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_00: Most beautiful May 24 that we've had in years.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_00: And we just had like a staycation with the kids and same, I was unplugged from social media, did not care, did not feel pulled back into it.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_00: It was so easy to unplug, which was also such a good feeling because I haven't felt that in a while either.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_00: And just like hung out with the kids by the pool the entire weekend.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_00: And there were multiple times where I was like, I feel like I'm at a resort.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_00: Like all I need is now just like someone to be making my food and cleaning the dishes and getting the kids their snacks.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_00: But otherwise, like I truly felt like I was on vacation with the kids in some exotic place because we're just hanging out at the pool, living our best lives.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_00: And guess what?
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_00: It didn't cost me nearly as much as the all-inclusive vacation for a family for whatever.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_00: So you can create that now in a lot of little ways.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think that like that's actually the only way it works.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_01: You know, I when people are like, if I say to somebody, what is it that you want to manifest and say, they say a yacht, um, a day on the yacht with my friends.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_01: Okay, why?
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_01: Well, because I'm adventurous and I like to be outdoors and I want to host and I want to be with my friends.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_01: Okay, how would that make you feel?
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_01: I I heard adventurous is there a couple other ways in there, like, oh, I'd feel free and I would feel um, you know, like generous and da-da-da-da.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_01: Okay, your job today and tomorrow and the next day and the next day is to wake up and to allow yourself to do things and experience things and be the version of you that is adventurous and generous and feels free.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_01: That is when you are going to manifest the experience that is probably going to be better than the yacht.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_01: Or the friend calls you up and says, Hey, I got this yacht, do you want to come on it?
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_01: And it unfolds in a different way.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_01: You have to be the vibrational frequency, energetic match to how the manifestation makes you feel.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_01: If you are saying, I want to be on the yacht, I want to host my friends, this is what I want to do.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_01: And then you wake up every day and you're like, it's not there yet, lack, doubt, fear, worry.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_01: Well, that vibration for people watching video is like down here.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_01: And the vibration of the day your life you desire is up here.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_01: And it's scientifically impossible for those two vibrations to match.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_01: So actually, like, you know, when we talk about universal laws, which I love talking about, the law of action comes before law of attraction.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_01: Everybody knows LOA, everybody knows law of attraction is manifestation.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_01: But do you know the other ones that precede it?
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_01: And law of action coming before it says you've got to take action.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_01: And that action can be as small as I wake up today and I'm going to choose to be intentional about being generous today or living in freedom today, because that choice to take that action to be that version of yourself will be the magnet to the experience that you think you're trying to manifest and it will always be better.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_00: So good.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_00: And then what advice would you have for someone who feels like, you know, maybe they they have been really putting in the inner work and working on their mindset and like stepping into their manifestation process, but they're still finding themselves like pulled back into scarcity, you know, maybe they keep getting hit with like test after test or whatever that looks like.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_00: And they're still, you know, working on showing up that way.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_00: Is there any belief you would pour into them or advice that you would share on helping them be able to like hold on to that vision still and really trust in that when they're in a season of like, okay, this when is this actually going to come through for me?
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_01: Well, take it from me who, you know, went and got the second degree and had the job that I thought everybody else thought I should have.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_01: What you want wants you back.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_01: And I didn't really want that job.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_01: And so everything, I didn't want that life.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_01: So everything in that life felt tumultuous.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_01: It felt hard.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_01: It felt testing.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_01: It felt like I was going against my intuition.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_01: So for those who are listening and they feel like they're in a season of like, I really want this.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_01: I want you to ask yourself, be honest with yourself, like a journal entry that nobody ever has to see or read.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_01: Do you really want that?
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_01: Or is it that you want something else, but you're afraid to say what it is that you really want?
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_01: Because what you really want does want you back and it will arrive.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_01: So I would, I would get honest with yourself of like, do you think you want that because other people want that for you?
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_01: Um, would be my first thing.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_01: And then the other thing is it's cliche, but it's true, you know, rejection is redirection.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_01: And so if you feel like I've been going for this job or I've been going for this speaking opportunity or whatever it is, I've been pitching myself to podcasts and it's like rejection, rejection, rejection.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_01: I promise you there will be a time, we don't know when, we're not in control of it, where you will look back and say, oh my gosh, all of that rejection did redirect me over here.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_01: And those lessons, I think the best entrepreneurs, I think the only successful entrepreneurs are people with lived experiences.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_01: And it will redirect you to a place where you're gonna have this idea, this profound aha moment, innovation that nobody else can have because they didn't have those experiences that you have, where you're going to be able to like turn your pain into purpose, turn your lesson into a business.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, I.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_01: Think about how if if if I was to say, like, oh, I'm gonna go be a divorce coach today, like would people work with me?
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_01: No.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_01: They'd be like, have you been divorced?
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_01: Do you know what that is like just because I'm a coach?
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_01: Or I could go like take a training and be a divorce coach, but it's like, but then I'm not actually, you know, I don't have that lived experience.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_01: The best divorce coach is gonna be from a woman who's been through divorce, right?
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_01: So I think that people get so caught up on like certifications and this and that.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_01: It's like, no, your lived experience is what people want.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_01: So document all these little things as proof of like this is leading me to something bigger, and I can't wait to see what it is.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_01: And then at the end of the day, like, time is passing anyway.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_01: So, you know, it's gonna pass, time will pass, and it will you will eventually get to the other side of whatever this is, and you're gonna be like, oh, that's why.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_01: So don't give up on your dreams.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_01: You can't give up on your dreams.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_00: And what a beautiful full circle kind of wrap-up because you are such an example of that, of you know, all those pieces that were taking you down the wrong path that were developing who you needed to be to be where you are now.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_00: And then again, I'm thinking even with the book launch, you know, like we're gonna circle back on this over the next little while because I feel like it's gonna continue coming up in different ways for you.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_00: It's like really testing your method.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_00: And exactly like you said, like the divorce lawyer, like testing the experience so that you can be the authority on this.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_00: And immediately my mind went to human design when you're sharing this too.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_00: Cause I also just want to like call this out specifically if you have a line six in your human design as the role model, right?
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_00: So the role model is the has like the three um kind of seasons in their life.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_00: And it's really like they're like kind of like, I don't know, I don't the late bloomer, I guess, but it's also reassuring for that person if that's you, because it's actually like 30 to 50 is when you know you're really like in it, but then it's like after 50 is actually when you're most in your power.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_00: So uh another reason to look up your human design and be mindful of it.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_00: Because if you're really feeling that, then there could be something a little magic there too.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_01: Okay, I was gonna say there's a really great book.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_01: Um, it's right here.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_01: I wonder if you've read this, Carly.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_01: Um, Human Design for Business.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_01: No, discover your unique blueprint to build a business and life you love.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_01: And it has like um each line and then marketing for that line, sales for that line, uh, offers for that line, and then like, you know, action tips for a sacred, um, the strength of an undefined sacral.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_01: Like it's really, really cool.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_00: I will add that to the show notes and I'll definitely have to get my hands on that.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_00: Okay, so you knew this question was coming.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_00: You hinted at it a little bit, but to wrap things up, what does your favorite self, who is your favorite self in this season for you?
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, my favorite self is definitely Cruz's mom right now.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_01: I did not know I was gonna love motherhood this much.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_01: Like I honestly had no clue.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_01: I didn't even think I wanted to be a mom for like the first 36 years of my life.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_01: Um, and I am obsessed.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I I know I'm such a good mom.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_01: And I'm so grateful that I had such a great, I have such a great mom as a role model.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_01: Um, but I my favorite self is Cruz's mom.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_01: But if we take it to the next level, it's Cruz's mom and we're in the sunshine.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_01: We're on a beach.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_01: I love nothing more than having the sun on my skin near the ocean.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_01: I there is not a care in the world when that is happening for me.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_01: And so actually, this past weekend we just booked our flights and I'm taking cruise home to Nova Scotia for two weeks.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_01: My parents live 10 minutes away from my favorite beach in the whole world.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_01: So if you've ever been to Nova Scotia, Mel Murray Beach, and I mean I've been to Bali and Thailand and Australia, I've been to all the beaches.
- 1:10:04SPEAKER_01: Um, this is kind of like my other life, is like I love to find a good beach, and there is no better beach than Mel Murphy Beach in Nova Scotia.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_01: And so I'm super excited to take cruise there.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_01: And actually, we've got an Airbnb right on the beach, and I'm just gonna park him in the sun and turn him into a little solar power baby too, and we're gonna play in the waves, and that is my favorite self.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_00: I love that so much, and I might have to join you.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_00: I'll bring some built-in little babysitters to entertain cruise for you.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_00: My daughter would love that little guy'll keep him running, running around.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_00: I guess he won't be running yet.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_00: Oh no, but we'll get there and your life will change in a whole other way, and honestly, it just keeps getting better.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_00: It's like I love that so much, and I can completely relate.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_00: And I'm just love watching you just yeah, be your favorite self in motherhood and how powerful that is.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_00: Okay, so let's wrap with a little bit of rapid fire.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_00: I call it not so rapid fire actually.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_00: But what is we didn't even get into this, but what's one money story that you are no longer available for?
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_01: I am no longer available for, I don't have that kind of money.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_01: That was a story I heard a lot growing up.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_01: Like, oh, we don't have that kind of money.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_01: Like, what is that kind of money?
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_01: Um, I whatever that kind of money is, if I want something and it costs money and I really want it, and if I go through my eight whys of why I really want it, I will find a way.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_01: Um, and I believe we can all find a way.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_01: I think people always find a way to get what they want.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_01: And so I no longer tell myself the like I don't have that kind of money.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_01: You know, the the flights that we just booked, it's premium, you know, Canada's first class all the way across the country for all of us.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_01: My husband's six foot three, so um, it's kind of really the only way we can fly.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_00: It's really hard to fly anything.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_00: You can't fly any other way.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_00: They really get you.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_00: They really get you, but I feel like that's part of the embodiment.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_00: So I love it.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_00: I'm so here for it.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_00: Truly.
- 1:12:03SPEAKER_00: Such a good one.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_00: And what's one outdated rule that female entrepreneurs need to release?
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_00: An outdated rule.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, well, okay.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_01: This is one that I don't think ever had a date, but it's one that a lot of I see female entrepreneurs latch onto.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_01: And I get that I don't get it because I've never identified this way, but the whole like perfectionism, like I'm just not a perfectionist at all.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_01: I'm just like, it's good enough and ready to go.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_01: But the whole like, I this has to be perfectly polished and curated to be worthy of transforming somebody's life, aka like selling it.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_01: Um, that just like has to go.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_01: And I think actually, I think we are moving into a time where people are like, oh, polished and perfect and overly curated, like seems kind of fake.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_01: I don't relate to it.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_01: Um, and so thankfully, I think a lot of women will start to catch on to this idea that like the more you're yourself and the more you're relatable um to your right audience, that that is what's gonna make people want to work with you, not the fact that you've like been able to mock up something really perfect in Canva.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, totally.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_00: You're speaking my language for that.
- 1:13:21SPEAKER_00: What's one thing you manifested that still feels surreal?
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_00: Jeff.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_01: I yeah, I was, you know, I what's that?
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_01: I had a lot of duds before Jeff.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_01: My previous engagement, I was with him for six years.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_01: Um, my boyfriend before him, five.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_01: They both cheated on me.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_01: And um, I was single the fall of 2020, and I started scripting, which is a manifestation practice I love, where I was writing in September the January date.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_01: I'm like, it's January 2021.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_01: I've met my dream man, and I kept describing how I would feel when we entered a room together.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_01: It had nothing about like what he did for work, uh the money he had in his bank account or what he looked like, although I do love a man with brown skin.
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_01: Um, and so he came to fruition.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_01: But I was talking about like he was such a good friend to people and like I would know that.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_01: And so I'm scripting this every day, how I feel entering a room of his friends with him.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_01: And I was going on all these dates that people were like setting me up on, and at two minutes in, I'm like, nope, this is not how I feel.
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_01: My script, gotta go.
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_01: And then I meet Jeff and we go for this walk, and we're walking along the beach as our first date, and it's nighttime and it's full moon.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_01: And um, he's telling me how he just got back from Portugal because he was a best man in this friend's wedding, and he's a best man in another friend's wedding.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, oh, this guy's friends really like him.
- 1:14:43SPEAKER_01: Um, and then he's telling me about how his friends with kids, all the kids call him Uncle Jeff.
- 1:14:47SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, oh, it's all like swirling together.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_01: And I went home that night and wrote in my family chat, like, I just met my future husband and my sister side texted me and she's like, Did you mean to put that in the family chat?
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Yeah, I did, because I was texting her about all the other dead dates.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_01: And she's like, Okay, this sounds serious.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_01: I'm like, Christine, honest to God, I'm gonna marry this man.
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_01: And I did.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, so good.
- 1:15:10SPEAKER_00: So good.
- 1:15:11SPEAKER_00: Okay, final one.
- 1:15:12SPEAKER_00: What's one thing teacher Nicole would be shocked by looking at your life now?
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_01: How much I love personal development.
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_01: Like, I didn't have time for it then, you know.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_01: I was learning about the rock cycle or fractions or what I don't know.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_01: I can't even remember all the things.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_01: I was so like, I've got so many random facts about like geography and social studies, um, from teaching grade 11 social studies and then grade seven social studies and just a lot of social studies.
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_01: So, you know, when I'm watching different documentaries, or like I'm we're out and I was just in Utah, I'm like, oh, this is that type of rock.
- 1:15:49SPEAKER_01: And my mom and sister are like, how do you know that?
- 1:15:51SPEAKER_01: I'm like, it's from teaching social studies.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_01: Um, I would be shocked at like I love to uh be a student and therefore a teacher of all things personal development.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_01: Like I could spend all day reading, learning, taking master classes, listening to podcasts, watching YouTube.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_01: And I think that version of me would be like, you have time to do all that, and like why?
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_01: What are you doing with that information?
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_00: So good.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_00: Okay, tell everybody where is the best place for them to connect with you, and we'll add it in the show notes too, of course.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, it's really simple.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_01: It's my line purpose across the board.
- 1:16:26SPEAKER_01: So our website is my line purpose, Instagram's my line purpose, our podcast is my line purpose.
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_01: Um, that's where you can find, you know, our the pre-sale of our book.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_01: Um, you can take our quiz, my linepurpose.com slash quiz, and come to an event.
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, it's all my line purpose.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_01: We make it pretty easy.
- 1:16:44SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_00: Amazing.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much, Nicole, for being here.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_00: And thank you, everyone, for listening.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_00: We'll see you next week.
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_00: Thanks, Carly.
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_00: Thank you for listening to the Favorite Self podcast.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_00: If this episode stirred something in you, there's a reason for it.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_00: You could take a moment to share with a friend, someone who's also building something brave, that would mean so much to me.
- 1:17:05SPEAKER_00: Better yet, leave a review.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_00: It helps this message reach even more women who are ready to lead differently.
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_00: And before you go, remember this your favorite self is already within you, waiting to be heard.
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_00: See you next time.
