- 1:40Speaker 4: first of all, I want to say hope everybody had
- 1:41Speaker 4: a great weekend. We had a busy weekend at the
- 1:44Speaker 4: radio ranch. I'll get into that. It's a little bit
- 1:46Speaker 4: later on if we have time. West Virginia Secretary State
- 1:49Speaker 4: Chris Warner is going to join us in the second
- 1:50Speaker 4: segment of the show, already talking about the election next year.
- 1:55Speaker 4: There is a need, and we have actually have a
- 1:56Speaker 4: story posted about at at wv metronews dot com. There
- 1:59Speaker 4: is a constin need for poll workers in the state
- 2:02Speaker 4: of West Virginia. And again there were some municipal elections
- 2:05Speaker 4: this year in twenty twenty five, but not much else.
- 2:07Speaker 4: But next year is going to be a little bit different.
- 2:09Speaker 4: You're going to find that there are several state Senate
- 2:12Speaker 4: races available, there will be several mayoral races, and of
- 2:15Speaker 4: course House of Delegates are on about every couple of years.
- 2:18Speaker 4: So we're going to talk to Secretary Warner about the
- 2:20Speaker 4: need for poll workers. If you've ever considered being a
- 2:23Speaker 4: poll worker'd be a great time to do it. You
- 2:24Speaker 4: can get a little cash, and it's a long day,
- 2:28Speaker 4: but it's worth it. So we'll talk to Secretary Warner
- 2:31Speaker 4: about that. Also, if you're going to be traveling in
- 2:33Speaker 4: South Charleston, there could be some issues on Jefferson Road.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Mayor Frank Mullins will join us to talk about that.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Plus Summerfest kicks off in South Charleston, l this week.
- 2:41Speaker 4: We'll talk to Mary Mullins about that too, And as always,
- 2:44Speaker 4: your calls and texts. Big Ley Pigley Wiggley hotline three
- 2:46Speaker 4: zero four three four five fifty eight fifty eight. Tony
- 2:49Speaker 4: the Taylor text three zero four nine three five five
- 2:52Speaker 4: zero zero. I want to tell you about a big
- 2:53Speaker 4: event happening one week from this Thursday, the twenty first,
- 2:57Speaker 4: at the Marshall University Bill No Flight School but West
- 2:59Speaker 4: Virginia International Yanker Airport the annual Paint the Capital City
- 3:03Speaker 4: Green event. Here to talk about it Robert stone Street
- 3:05Speaker 4: or the marsh University Quarterback Club, Charleston. Good morning, sir,
- 3:08Speaker 4: welcome to the show.
- 3:09Speaker 6: Good morning day, thanks for having me, Thank.
- 3:11Speaker 4: You for being here. First of all, how many years
- 3:13Speaker 4: has this event been going on? Do you have any
- 3:14Speaker 4: idea of godish.
- 3:14Speaker 7: It's been over ten years, maybe even fifteen. We've changed locations,
- 3:19Speaker 7: we've been at the flight school now this is our
- 3:20Speaker 7: fifth year, which is hard to believe. We started that
- 3:22Speaker 7: with COVID when remember when we couldn't be inside together.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Yeah, that's how the whole thing happened. But the flight's right.
- 3:28Speaker 7: So we got the big hangar up there and decided
- 3:31Speaker 7: we'd have an outdoor ish event and everybody loved it,
- 3:34Speaker 7: and we've kept doing it every year since.
- 3:36Speaker 4: And I will tell you that if you've never had
- 3:38Speaker 4: an opportunity to go up to the Bill and no
- 3:39Speaker 4: Flight School up at Yager, yeah, it's absolutely fantastic. And
- 3:43Speaker 4: this has actually turned out to be a great venue
- 3:47Speaker 4: for this, and so if you have, I'll go ahead
- 3:49Speaker 4: and tell you now, if you're heading up for the event,
- 3:51Speaker 4: you'll see the signs pointing you in the right direction.
- 3:53Speaker 4: You'll walk in through a main area and then you
- 3:56Speaker 4: walk kind of across the way at the tarmac a
- 3:59Speaker 4: little bit and they'll point to everybody in the right direction.
- 4:02Speaker 4: And as you said, Robert, it turns out to be
- 4:04Speaker 4: sort of an indoor outdoor event because it's actually in
- 4:06Speaker 4: the hangar there at the at the Bill and No
- 4:09Speaker 4: Flight School, so you've got that open air thing. We
- 4:11Speaker 4: got fans going, but it's it's a great event. Plus
- 4:15Speaker 4: it shows off the bill No Flight School because they
- 4:18Speaker 4: always have their planes and whatnot there, so it's kind
- 4:20Speaker 4: of a win win for them and for those that
- 4:23Speaker 4: don't know this, this Bill No Flight School through Marshall
- 4:26Speaker 4: University up at the airport. This's a fantastic thing.
- 4:28Speaker 6: It is.
- 4:29Speaker 7: It's great venue, it's a great event. We're expecting north
- 4:33Speaker 7: of three point fifty maybe four hundred folks this year.
- 4:36Speaker 7: A lot of great sponsors. Shout out to Steve Ellis
- 4:39Speaker 7: and Elko Mechanical, longtime supporter WVRC Media for having us
- 4:44Speaker 7: We appreciate you guys, and we've got a lot of
- 4:47Speaker 7: other sponsors. Paul Smith with ten ten Bridge is going
- 4:51Speaker 7: to be catering Chef Paul. Yes, so if for no
- 4:55Speaker 7: other reason you should come for that.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Now, where do people get tickets? Because here's the same
- 4:59Speaker 4: the reason I I throw this out now, there's a
- 5:01Speaker 4: reason we have you on. It's not till next Thursday,
- 5:04Speaker 4: one week from this Thursday. But the reason we're throwing
- 5:06Speaker 4: it out there now is because their tickets are going
- 5:09Speaker 4: quickly and they are getting scarce.
- 5:10Speaker 6: They are.
- 5:11Speaker 7: We've got over thirty table sponsors so far. You can
- 5:15Speaker 7: get tickets at the Marshall Biggreen dot org website. Individual
- 5:19Speaker 7: tickets are only fifty dollars for adults. That includes all
- 5:23Speaker 7: the Chef Paul food you can eat and beer you
- 5:25Speaker 7: can drink during the advantage.
- 5:26Speaker 4: You look at me when you said that all the food.
- 5:28Speaker 7: But anyway, and kids under fourteen are only twenty five dollars.
- 5:32Speaker 7: They don't drink as much beer, so we well a
- 5:34Speaker 7: little cheaper there.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Hopefully they don't, right, Yeah, So what is the whole
- 5:39Speaker 4: idea behind this? I mean, it's obviously it's getting you know,
- 5:42Speaker 4: it's that time of year. Everybody's excited in Huntings and
- 5:45Speaker 4: everybody's excited in Morgantown and every other city around the
- 5:49Speaker 4: nation right now gearing up for college football. But what's
- 5:51Speaker 4: the whole idea up behind this thing.
- 5:53Speaker 7: Well, this is the kickoff for fall sports for Marshall University. Obviously,
- 5:57Speaker 7: football season is a big, big deal. We've got a
- 6:00Speaker 7: head football coach, Tony Gibson new ad Gerald Harrison. But
- 6:04Speaker 7: it's also we have some other fall sports folks there.
- 6:08Speaker 7: We've got Corney Jackson, the men's basketball coach, will be there,
- 6:11Speaker 7: Julie Fulkes for the women's coach, and then some Olympic
- 6:14Speaker 7: team coaches will be there as well, and Steve Cott
- 6:17Speaker 7: and the Voice of the Herd will do a sort
- 6:19Speaker 7: of an interview panel with these coaches and they'll talk
- 6:22Speaker 7: about their teams and what they're expecting and it just
- 6:25Speaker 7: it's a good tailgate atmosphere and get everybody excited for
- 6:30Speaker 7: for football and other fall sports.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Yeah, exact, we're talking to Robert soon Street from the
- 6:35Speaker 4: Marshall University Quarterback Club. The Charlestow Dave Island Show on
- 6:38Speaker 4: five eighty Live is broad to you part by your
- 6:40Speaker 4: hometown baseball team of the Charleston Dirty Birds. Off night
- 6:42Speaker 4: tonight for the Birds, they have a home stand starting
- 6:45Speaker 4: tomorrow night at Gilmartin Paul Park against High Point. Tickets,
- 6:47Speaker 4: promotion schedule, Dirty Birds merchandise, with more. This is the
- 6:50Speaker 4: dirty Birds Baseball dot Com. Now, Robert, you mentioned that
- 6:52Speaker 4: coach the basketball coach, Corney Jackson is going to be there.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Coach Gibson is also, yes' going to be this and
- 6:57Speaker 4: we'll be there and there is here's the thing there,
- 6:59Speaker 4: there's a lot of excitement about football season this year
- 7:02Speaker 4: in West Virginia. Again, we all know about coach Rod
- 7:04Speaker 4: in Morgantown, but also in Huntington. And I love the
- 7:08Speaker 4: fact that we have our basketball coach who is from
- 7:11Speaker 4: Oak Hill and the fact that we have our football
- 7:14Speaker 4: coach who is from van in boone County two West Virginia.
- 7:18Speaker 4: People coaching the two leading teams at Marsh University.
- 7:23Speaker 6: Yes, it's very exciting.
- 7:24Speaker 7: We're very lucky to have both of those guys there.
- 7:29Speaker 7: And there's a lot to look forward to, a lot
- 7:31Speaker 7: of new things. I mean, as mentioned new ad, we've
- 7:33Speaker 7: got fifty some new players.
- 7:35Speaker 4: I think we got more than that.
- 7:37Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it's a brand new team.
- 7:39Speaker 4: There's been twenty new players since we were sitting here.
- 7:42Speaker 4: That's the landscape of college athletics right now, Robert sadly.
- 7:45Speaker 4: But it keeps it exciting. And again, anytime there's a
- 7:49Speaker 4: new coach in town, there's always you know, a bit
- 7:53Speaker 4: of a bit of excitement about that. And we have
- 7:55Speaker 4: a new ad too, And I'll tell you, mister Harrison
- 7:58Speaker 4: the new ad. I mean that press conference he had
- 8:01Speaker 4: me ready to run through a wall. I mean, this
- 8:03Speaker 4: guy is a fiery guy and I've never met him.
- 8:06Speaker 4: I'm looking forward to meeting him.
- 8:07Speaker 7: Yes, Yeah, we had a lot of exciting things going on.
- 8:10Speaker 7: I also want to note, even if you're not a
- 8:13Speaker 7: football fan, we do have an opportunity to go see
- 8:16Speaker 7: Zach Bryan. So if you're a Zach Bryan fan, we're
- 8:19Speaker 7: going to have two sweet tickets at the Jones Stadium
- 8:21Speaker 7: that's going on for a live auction during the.
- 8:24Speaker 4: He's an up and coming country singer. He's about the
- 8:26Speaker 4: hottest thing going right now in country music, and he's
- 8:28Speaker 4: going to be playing a concert at the Jone Jonesy
- 8:31Speaker 4: Edwards Stadium in Huntington on August thirtieth.
- 8:34Speaker 7: So if you're not going to Georgia for the opening
- 8:36Speaker 7: Marshall away game, and you want to see Zach Brian
- 8:39Speaker 7: in Huntington. You've got a chance to get two sweet
- 8:42Speaker 7: tickets at a live auction, so.
- 8:45Speaker 6: Come for that.
- 8:46Speaker 4: Yeah, and a lot of other great things are always
- 8:48Speaker 4: available doing the auctions as well.
- 8:50Speaker 7: We've got a trip with the team to the Coastal
- 8:53Speaker 7: Carolina game on August thirtieth, so you would fly down
- 8:55Speaker 7: on the team plane, have meals with the team while
- 8:58Speaker 7: you're there, have a VIP experiences at the stadium, and
- 9:01Speaker 7: then fly back with the team after the game.
- 9:03Speaker 4: It's all good stuff. Again. Robert stone Tree for the
- 9:05Speaker 4: marsh University Quarterback Club at Charleston, and again it's it's
- 9:08Speaker 4: just something and it was sad that we had to
- 9:13Speaker 4: move it there because of COVID, But at the same time,
- 9:15Speaker 4: I don't think we're going to be leaving anytime soon
- 9:17Speaker 4: because that is just such a great atmosphere for an
- 9:21Speaker 4: event like this.
- 9:22Speaker 7: It is great and it's outside and some people think, hey,
- 9:25Speaker 7: you know, August outside, but it's in the evening and
- 9:28Speaker 7: and it all the years we've had it there, it's
- 9:31Speaker 7: really been Coach.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Giant fans going and we have the doors open up
- 9:34Speaker 4: there and everything, and plus, I mean, these are opportunities.
- 9:38Speaker 4: You don't get a whole lot of opportunities where you
- 9:40Speaker 4: can just hang out and talk to coach Tony Gibson
- 9:44Speaker 4: and talk to coach Corny Jackson and all the other coaches.
- 9:46Speaker 4: And there's Marshall officials. We mentioned, the new ad is
- 9:49Speaker 4: going to be there normally, the cheerleaders are there, they
- 9:53Speaker 4: will be there. The marsh University cheerleaders will be there.
- 9:55Speaker 4: We have other other folks within the organization there and
- 9:58Speaker 4: again the whole idea behind this is raise money for
- 10:00Speaker 4: the Big Green.
- 10:01Speaker 7: Right, President Smith has anticipated to be there. He's always
- 10:04Speaker 7: a great person to listen to. And yeah, we'll be
- 10:08Speaker 7: raising money for the Big Green, particularly the football program
- 10:10Speaker 7: because we are the Quarterback Club.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Of Charleston And just got confirmation this morning the Charleston
- 10:16Speaker 4: Mary Amy Shuiler good One is going to be giving
- 10:17Speaker 4: the opening address there that night. And of course she
- 10:20Speaker 4: she has dual citizenship, as she frequently says, because she's
- 10:23Speaker 4: a WVU person, but she I think she's got one
- 10:25Speaker 4: kid in Morgantown and one kid in Huntington, so so
- 10:29Speaker 4: she'll be a big part of as well. And I'm
- 10:31Speaker 4: gonna be serving as the MC and I always look
- 10:33Speaker 4: forward to that. Normally it's Steve Animal and myself, but
- 10:37Speaker 4: we announced it last week. On the first and third
- 10:40Speaker 4: Thursdays of every month, we do a live event at
- 10:43Speaker 4: five Street Brewering so on Summer Street. So that's gonna
- 10:46Speaker 4: take mister Animal away. So you're gonna be stuck with
- 10:48Speaker 4: me serving as your MC, myself and Steve Cotton.
- 10:51Speaker 7: Yes, well, I'm sure you will do a fine job,
- 10:55Speaker 7: you and mister Cotton.
- 10:56Speaker 4: It'll be highly adequate. I'll say that, we'll look forward
- 10:59Speaker 4: to it. And the food, man, I mean, it's just
- 11:01Speaker 4: classic chef Paul Tailgate food, the wings, the dips, all
- 11:06Speaker 4: the stuff and plenty of things to keep you hydrated
- 11:09Speaker 4: to It's going to be a great, great night as
- 11:12Speaker 4: we get ready to paint the Capital city green. This
- 11:15Speaker 4: is in the Quarterback Club of Charleston has a couple
- 11:17Speaker 4: of big events every year. We do something, usually around
- 11:19Speaker 4: Valentine's Day. This year we did a spring like a
- 11:23Speaker 4: beach party. A beach party over to Embassy Suiteset was
- 11:26Speaker 4: a lot of fun. But this is this is the
- 11:28Speaker 4: big event and it draws in Marshall fans from not
- 11:32Speaker 4: only the Kanaw Valley, but people in Huntingson make the trip,
- 11:35Speaker 4: people from Boone County and Mason and Jackson, they're all
- 11:39Speaker 4: there as well. It is always a great, great turnout
- 11:41Speaker 4: for this event. And I don't know what a sell
- 11:43Speaker 4: out is, but it comes pretty close.
- 11:45Speaker 7: It's getting close. I think we can get about four
- 11:47Speaker 7: hundred in there. That's forty tables and we're approaching that.
- 11:50Speaker 7: So if you want to come, go to Marshall Biggreen
- 11:52Speaker 7: dot or org under the events tab and get your ticket.
- 11:55Speaker 7: Individual tickets again, only fifty dollars or table sponsorships are
- 11:59Speaker 7: available starting at teve hundred dollars for ten seats.
- 12:01Speaker 4: All right, Robert, appreciate you being here and looking forward
- 12:04Speaker 4: to it. It's going to be next Thursday, and information
- 12:07Speaker 4: is available all over social media and as you said,

- 15:35Speaker 4: Well, while you're there in Webster Springs, you'll have to
- 15:38Speaker 4: make it a point to stop my custard hot dog
- 15:41Speaker 4: stand while you're there. It's like their headquarters there. You
- 15:43Speaker 4: know that, right of course you knew that.
- 15:45Speaker 8: You know. And I got Lea Dean with me, so
- 15:48Speaker 8: you know we can't pass the hot boy.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Never met a hot dog you didn't like, I'll tell
- 15:53Speaker 4: you that. And that's that's the pot called on the
- 15:56Speaker 4: kettle black, I'll tell you that right there. Thing the
- 15:58Speaker 4: thing I remember about about going to Webster Springs in
- 16:01Speaker 4: that courthouse, it was quite a haul up those steps,
- 16:05Speaker 4: you know, for somebody that carries a little bit too
- 16:07Speaker 4: much around their midsection, like I do. I would get
- 16:10Speaker 4: to the top of the courthouse steps there and be
- 16:14Speaker 4: out of breath before somebody told me, you know, you
- 16:17Speaker 4: can just go around the back.
- 16:19Speaker 8: Hey, Dave, I resemble that remark, so I know exactly
- 16:23Speaker 8: what you're talking about. I'm looking at him right now.
- 16:26Speaker 4: But yeah, they I had been going there, you know,
- 16:29Speaker 4: when I worked in state government for like several months before,
- 16:32Speaker 4: somebody said, you know, there's a back entrance, right because
- 16:34Speaker 4: I was walking in the office all like out of
- 16:36Speaker 4: breath and stuff. They think, yeah, there's a back entrance.
- 16:38Speaker 4: So just note that for the record. All right, So
- 16:41Speaker 4: Secretary Tomorrow's National poll Worker Recruitment Day and there is
- 16:45Speaker 4: a move on to line up poll workers for the
- 16:46Speaker 4: upcoming elections next year. It's it's been kind of quiet
- 16:51Speaker 4: this year. I mean, as far as most people are concerned.
- 16:54Speaker 4: I know that in the quote unquote off years, and
- 16:57Speaker 4: with the Secretary of State's office, there's no such thing
- 16:59Speaker 4: as an off year. But there's a lot of municipal
- 17:01Speaker 4: elections this year, but those are starting to get those
- 17:05Speaker 4: in a review mirror right now. But twenty twenty six
- 17:07Speaker 4: is going to be a big election year with various
- 17:08Speaker 4: seats up. I mentioned earlier there's some state Senate seats
- 17:11Speaker 4: up next year. Also, the House has to run every
- 17:14Speaker 4: a couple of years, so it'll be a busy time.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Why should somebody want to be a poll worker?
- 17:20Speaker 8: Well, I tell you what, there's no better way to
- 17:24Speaker 8: be civically engaged. It's a great way to see folks
- 17:29Speaker 8: in the community. And it's very important for voters when
- 17:33Speaker 8: they're coming through the door to see someone that they
- 17:36Speaker 8: recognize from the community and being a poll worker. And
- 17:41Speaker 8: I've found it to be very rewarding, and we have
- 17:45Speaker 8: people that like to come back and work year after year.
- 17:49Speaker 8: But at the same time, we need to get the
- 17:53Speaker 8: younger generation ready to go and to take over the
- 17:58Speaker 8: poll working. It's just to part of our constitutional republic
- 18:02Speaker 8: and we can't let it slide.
- 18:05Speaker 4: And does it seem to me or maybe your office,
- 18:08Speaker 4: that it's been a little bit harder to find poll
- 18:11Speaker 4: workers over the last couple of years, and look a
- 18:13Speaker 4: lot of it. If that is the case, I'll let
- 18:15Speaker 4: you answer it. But a lot of that has to
- 18:16Speaker 4: do with, as you said, a lot of the poll
- 18:18Speaker 4: workers are getting older. They got a little bit of
- 18:20Speaker 4: age on them, and some of them would like to say, well,
- 18:22Speaker 4: I've done this for thirty forty years. Maybe it's time
- 18:25Speaker 4: for younger people to get involved. But it's very important
- 18:28Speaker 4: to get the younger people involved to want to be
- 18:30Speaker 4: pole workers.
- 18:30Speaker 8: Secretary right, I got a first of all brag on
- 18:34Speaker 8: Putnam County and Conall County and Barber County. They say
- 18:39Speaker 8: they do not need help with poll workers. They got
- 18:42Speaker 8: all the poll workers that they can use, but the
- 18:47Speaker 8: other you know, fifty three counties, fifty two counties can
- 18:53Speaker 8: use the help. And you know, again, younger people can
- 18:58Speaker 8: help move ballot boxes around, voting machines around, moving boxes
- 19:03Speaker 8: that some of the elderly folks can't. But the elderly
- 19:06Speaker 8: folks need to be there as well to coach the
- 19:09Speaker 8: younger generation along and let them know how they run
- 19:14Speaker 8: their election in that county.
- 19:16Speaker 4: Talk about the pay a poll worker gets, sir.
- 19:20Speaker 8: You know, our pay ranges in each county from anywhere
- 19:23Speaker 8: from one hundred and fifty dollars on the low end
- 19:26Speaker 8: up to three hundred dollars. And I'm glad you brought
- 19:30Speaker 8: that up because it's you know, there's a two hour
- 19:33Speaker 8: training that is included. You get paid for the two
- 19:37Speaker 8: hour training and then working a very long day. I
- 19:40Speaker 8: don't want to mislead anyone. It's a long, hard day
- 19:44Speaker 8: to be a poll worker. But one of the things
- 19:47Speaker 8: we're going to try to do in the next legislative
- 19:49Speaker 8: session is at least introduce the idea of equalizing pay
- 19:53Speaker 8: worker pay across the entire state. You know, whether you're
- 19:57Speaker 8: working in Clay County or in Berkeley County, your work
- 20:00Speaker 8: in the same long day and deserve the same pay.
- 20:03Speaker 8: So that's one of the things we're going to introduce
- 20:06Speaker 8: to the legislature and see if we can reimburse the
- 20:10Speaker 8: counties because it's more than just county races on the ballot.
- 20:14Speaker 8: There's state races on the ballot, federal races as well,
- 20:19Speaker 8: and we're going to try to see if we can
- 20:21Speaker 8: equalize pay worker pay across the state.
- 20:24Speaker 4: And it is a long day because polls open in
- 20:26Speaker 4: West Virginia six thirty AM, the close at seven thirty pm.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Most poll workers need to be on the premises by
- 20:32Speaker 4: about five point thirty in the morning. One of the
- 20:35Speaker 4: great things though about the modern election system, so as
- 20:38Speaker 4: opposed to what it used to be, is generally speaking,
- 20:41Speaker 4: and there are going to be exceptions here and there,
- 20:43Speaker 4: but generally speaking, in West Virginia's fifty five counties, polls
- 20:46Speaker 4: close at seven thirty With these modern voting machines, I mean,
- 20:50Speaker 4: it tabulates, and it's not like the old days. It's
- 20:52Speaker 4: tabulated quickly and usually poll workers are in most cases
- 20:56Speaker 4: on their roads and back to their beds in like
- 20:58Speaker 4: an hour or so after the polls close.
- 21:01Speaker 8: You're correct, but there's also an executive order out that,
- 21:05Speaker 8: uh you may interfere with.
- 21:07Speaker 3: That, Dave.
- 21:09Speaker 8: And so we are planning in West Virginia. Quite frankly,
- 21:12Speaker 8: we have a Plan B and a Plan C based
- 21:15Speaker 8: on whether we're going to be able to use the
- 21:18Speaker 8: machines that we have used in the past. So we're
- 21:22Speaker 8: we're hopeful that that's going to be the case. But
- 21:24Speaker 8: we're unpacking that uh presidential executive order right now and
- 21:30Speaker 8: uh and working. We're just in a national conference in
- 21:33Speaker 8: Mississippi and uh, we're we're trying to get caught up
- 21:37Speaker 8: to date on that and we're going to have to see,
- 21:39Speaker 8: uh you know, how the court system looks at the
- 21:42Speaker 8: executive order as well.
- 21:44Speaker 4: Can you are you, I mean, are you in a
- 21:45Speaker 4: position to elaborate on what you're referring to, sir?
- 21:49Speaker 8: Well, there there may uh you know, there may not
- 21:52Speaker 8: may not be able to use the machines that we
- 21:56Speaker 8: have used in the past, and may not be able
- 21:59Speaker 8: to use the scans that read the paper ballots that
- 22:02Speaker 8: are printed out from what I call the marking machines.
- 22:06Speaker 8: Must will refer to those as voting machines. So we're
- 22:11Speaker 8: coming up with a plan that if we have to
- 22:12Speaker 8: print you know, there, I think it's nine hundred different
- 22:17Speaker 8: ballot styles in West Virginia because of all the different
- 22:20Speaker 8: races and all the different counties and senatorial districts and
- 22:24Speaker 8: the rest. But we've got to be ready to print
- 22:28Speaker 8: all those ballots if they have to be hand marked,
- 22:32Speaker 8: and if you depend on how you read the executive order,
- 22:36Speaker 8: that may be the case, or we might not be
- 22:38Speaker 8: able to use the electronic scanners to count the ballots
- 22:42Speaker 8: for the unofficial results on election night. Again, we hope
- 22:47Speaker 8: we're able to use the machines and the poll workers
- 22:51Speaker 8: will be able to continue to run the elections the
- 22:55Speaker 8: way that they've been running the past here in West
- 22:58Speaker 8: Virginia in recent hit history, but we have to plan
- 23:02Speaker 8: if that's not the case.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Talking to Westervirginia Secretary of State Chris Warner. All right,
- 23:07Speaker 4: so let's get back to the training. What kind of
- 23:08Speaker 4: training does a poll worker need and how many workers
- 23:11Speaker 4: are needed per precinct?
- 23:14Speaker 8: Yep, So there's there are five workers in a general election.
- 23:18Speaker 8: Typically that is two Republicans, two Democrats, and then the
- 23:24Speaker 8: fifth can be a non affiliated worker, but that's decided
- 23:28Speaker 8: by the county clerk. It is by law. It's the
- 23:31Speaker 8: responsibility of each of the county executive committees to turn
- 23:36Speaker 8: in the names of the poll workers that will represent
- 23:40Speaker 8: that party at the polling place, and then the county
- 23:43Speaker 8: clerk assembles those and makes the final determination. There is
- 23:48Speaker 8: also an alternate list, and so that's the number of
- 23:52Speaker 8: poll workers. But we have a two hour training session.
- 23:58Speaker 8: Some counties run multiple training sessions. Smaller counties will run
- 24:03Speaker 8: one training session, but it's it's pretty straightforward and a
- 24:08Speaker 8: two hour training session and then you're ready to work
- 24:11Speaker 8: in the polls on election day.
- 24:12Speaker 4: One of the questions that you frequently get, Secretary is
- 24:16Speaker 4: people will say, okay, and I'll just use my home
- 24:19Speaker 4: base as an example. I live in Putnam County. My
- 24:23Speaker 4: my polling place is Mountain View Elementary School. People will say, well,
- 24:27Speaker 4: if I'm a poll worker, do you put me at
- 24:30Speaker 4: my polling place here?
- 24:32Speaker 8: To address that, yeah, that that is decided by the
- 24:39Speaker 8: county Executive committee and the county chairman for each of
- 24:42Speaker 8: the parties. They turned that information in to the county clerk,
- 24:48Speaker 8: and ultimately the county clerk you know, certifies that that
- 24:53Speaker 8: list to make sure that they have everyone necessary. So
- 24:56Speaker 8: the county clerks are the ones that are running the election.
- 25:00Speaker 8: In each of their accounties, were there to help assist,
- 25:03Speaker 8: for example, with the training material and what's needed to
- 25:08Speaker 8: operate on election.
- 25:09Speaker 4: Day, and who's eligible to be a poll worker.
- 25:13Speaker 8: As long as you're a registered voter by the general election,
- 25:17Speaker 8: you can sign up and be a poll worker. Just
- 25:20Speaker 8: as long as you're a registered West Virginia voter, you
- 25:23Speaker 8: can work on our polls.
- 25:25Speaker 4: And look, you know when we talked about the need
- 25:27Speaker 4: for getting younger people involved in this and the rate
- 25:31Speaker 4: of pay, as you said, can go up to three
- 25:33Speaker 4: hundred and some dollars. I mean it's a long day,
- 25:36Speaker 4: don't get me wrong, but it ain't like I used
- 25:39Speaker 4: to tell people segregated. It ain't like you're digging ditches,
- 25:41Speaker 4: you know. I mean, I mean you're in the primarily
- 25:44Speaker 4: and air conditioned facility. It is a long day. But
- 25:47Speaker 4: for a young person to be able to set behind
- 25:50Speaker 4: a desk, and again I'm not trying to diminish the
- 25:53Speaker 4: work that poll workers do, but I mean you're setting
- 25:55Speaker 4: behind a desk. It's a long day. But to be
- 25:57Speaker 4: able to walk out of there with in some cases
- 25:59Speaker 4: three hundred dollars paycheck. I mean, that's that's not bad,
- 26:02Speaker 4: that's not bad work.
- 26:03Speaker 8: Yeah. But David, again I'm making light of this, but
- 26:07Speaker 8: you know you got to remain awake the full period
- 26:10Speaker 8: of and you can't use your phone.
- 26:13Speaker 11: No.
- 26:13Speaker 8: Yeah, So if they can't check their phone every fifteen minutes,
- 26:17Speaker 8: that you know it's going to take somebody that is
- 26:20Speaker 8: ready to work.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Yeah, you're exactly right. Where can people learn more information?
- 26:24Speaker 4: If they're listening to this and they say, you know,
- 26:26Speaker 4: i'd like to be a poll worker, what's the best
- 26:29Speaker 4: the best plan of action, your securty? What do they
- 26:31Speaker 4: need to do?
- 26:32Speaker 8: The best plan of action is go on the internet
- 26:36Speaker 8: to go vote WV dot com. Again, go vote WV
- 26:42Speaker 8: dot com and you can register there to be a
- 26:46Speaker 8: poll worker in any one of our fifty five counties.
- 26:50Speaker 8: The other option is to contact your county chairman or
- 26:54Speaker 8: county clerk in your home county. But the best way
- 26:59Speaker 8: is go vot WB dot com.
- 27:01Speaker 4: All right, Secretary of State, Chris One, are always a pleasure, sir.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Enjoy Webster Springs today and find out about how that
- 27:09Speaker 4: where that back entry is to the courthouse that it
- 27:10Speaker 4: took me about a year to find. I appreciate it, sir,
- 27:13Speaker 4: thanks a lot.
- 27:14Speaker 8: Hey, thanks Dave Siah.
- 27:15Speaker 4: Secretary of State Chris one Er, twenty six minutes away
- 27:17Speaker 4: from ten. I can tell you again, as I've been
- 27:20Speaker 4: honest with people, that I'm a former employee of the
- 27:22Speaker 4: Secretary of State's office and I did the kind of
- 27:24Speaker 4: work that what I wasn't Secretary Bunny stretch of the imagination,
- 27:27Speaker 4: but I did work in that office, and I could
- 27:30Speaker 4: tell you that the biggest problems that were the two
- 27:33Speaker 4: biggest problems listeners have heard me say this before that
- 27:36Speaker 4: we had and on an election day we were in
- 27:39Speaker 4: all fifty five counties. We would go out just to
- 27:41Speaker 4: make sure everything was going okay, and you know, ninety
- 27:44Speaker 4: nine point nine percent of the time it was biggest
- 27:47Speaker 4: problems we had was we had to tell people you
- 27:49Speaker 4: can't have your cell phones. Doesn't mean if you're a
- 27:51Speaker 4: poll worker that you have to totally leave it in
- 27:53Speaker 4: the car, you know, between six thirty am and seven
- 27:56Speaker 4: thirty pm. But nothing, nothing goes further to a road.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Trust when you walk into a polling place and you
- 28:02Speaker 4: see someone on their phone, because automatically you're thinking, well,
- 28:06Speaker 4: what are they doing on their phone. So that's one
- 28:09Speaker 4: of the big things. You got it, you just can't
- 28:10Speaker 4: stay glued to You can have it, you just can't
- 28:13Speaker 4: stay glued to it all the time. The second thing
- 28:16Speaker 4: that we had was there were a lot of people
- 28:19Speaker 4: that in this era we have to document everything. There
- 28:22Speaker 4: were people that wanted to go inside the polling place
- 28:24Speaker 4: and take a picture of themselves voting. Cell phones are
- 28:27Speaker 4: not allowed inside the voting booth period, and we had
- 28:32Speaker 4: people that would go in, you know, young people as
- 28:34Speaker 4: their first time and they're very proud of the fact
- 28:36Speaker 4: that they're voting for the first time. That's great. You
- 28:39Speaker 4: can't do a selfie inside there, and you certainly cannot
- 28:41Speaker 4: take a picture of who you voted for and posted.
- 28:44Speaker 4: That's illegal. That's one aspect of it. The other aspect
- 28:47Speaker 4: of it is you cannot walk into a polling place
- 28:50Speaker 4: with a T shirt, a jacket, a hat that says
- 28:52Speaker 4: vote for so and so for board of education or
- 28:54Speaker 4: president or whatever the case may be. You can't do that.
- 28:57Speaker 4: That's considered electioneering. So just just a reminder that when
- 29:01Speaker 4: you head to the polls next year, keep those things
- 29:04Speaker 4: in mind. You cannot walk into a polling place within
- 29:08Speaker 4: one hundred feet with a T shirt. Offices vote for
- 29:10Speaker 4: John for sheriff because that's considered electioneering and it's illegal.
- 29:15Speaker 4: Doesn't mean you have to, you know, take your shirt
- 29:17Speaker 4: off because we don't need to see that, but if
- 29:19Speaker 4: you can at least cover it, turn it inside out
- 29:21Speaker 4: or what that seemed to be the biggest problems that
- 29:23Speaker 4: we that we encountered when I was a member of
- 29:27Speaker 4: that office. Election question says a texture, why don't we
- 29:29Speaker 4: elect our humane officers? I mean they're having a hard
- 29:32Speaker 4: enough time finding people to do that in general, that
- 29:35Speaker 4: kind of work, So we'll appreciate it, appreciate it very much.

- 33:17Speaker 4: Charleston Mayor Frank Mullins, Good morning, mister mayor, Welcome to
- 33:19Speaker 4: the show.
- 33:21Speaker 14: Good morning day, Thanks for having me.
- 33:23Speaker 4: Thank you for being So what's going on on Jefferson Road.
- 33:25Speaker 14: Sir, Well, it's my today. What they did was they
- 33:30Speaker 14: close the southbound lane. So basically, if you're going if
- 33:34Speaker 14: you're coming from Route sixty to go south across the
- 33:36Speaker 14: bridge out to a quarter of g that lane's going
- 33:39Speaker 14: to be closed for a few days while they resurface
- 33:41Speaker 14: and redo the trap. The two new lanes to be
- 33:45Speaker 14: open next week, so it's an inconvenience this week. It'll
- 33:48Speaker 14: be a great thing at the end of the week
- 33:49Speaker 14: because we're going to open up some more lanes. And
- 33:51Speaker 14: anytime they can open up more lanes, that's a good
- 33:52Speaker 14: thing for our traffic flow.
- 33:54Speaker 4: It is, and indeed it is. So you would just
- 33:57Speaker 4: tell motorists that go through that area, residents, folks doing business,
- 34:00Speaker 4: just to I guess, pack your patients with you.
- 34:01Speaker 14: Is that what you're saying, Yeah, pack your patient. It's
- 34:04Speaker 14: just a section between the railroad tracks in Jefferson Road
- 34:08Speaker 14: what we're used to, but it's where you go across
- 34:09Speaker 14: the bridge to go down to the Cordy, so you
- 34:11Speaker 14: can still go. It's out on Jefferson Road to the corridor.
- 34:14Speaker 14: You just have to get on the other side of
- 34:16Speaker 14: the tracks first, so you'll be decorded around Montrose to
- 34:18Speaker 14: do that.
- 34:19Speaker 4: And you're sure. I have plenty of signage up so
- 34:21Speaker 4: you won't catch anybody by surprise, right, Yeah.
- 34:24Speaker 14: Well there's some signage out there. I actually just drove
- 34:27Speaker 14: it this morning myself to make sure I did it
- 34:28Speaker 14: and understood it. So if people call me, I I
- 34:30Speaker 14: can answer questions. And there are some detour signs there
- 34:34Speaker 14: taking you to taking you to Montrose, just kind of
- 34:37Speaker 14: you know, pay attention and look for.
- 34:39Speaker 4: Them, and do you tell people when they call you
- 34:41Speaker 4: mayor look, I just did it. If I can do it,
- 34:43Speaker 4: anybody can. Is that what you're telling them?
- 34:46Speaker 14: That's right? If I just did it, anybody.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Anybody should be able to How are things been going
- 34:52Speaker 4: out there since all this because I had you on
- 34:54Speaker 4: a couple of weeks ago, and I know there's been
- 34:56Speaker 4: various changes out there. How are things going over on?
- 35:00Speaker 14: I think it's going okay. I mean, you always have
- 35:01Speaker 14: you always have some things you need to adjust to.
- 35:03Speaker 14: But at the end of the day, I think it's
- 35:04Speaker 14: going well. The roundabout has been really well received. I know,
- 35:07Speaker 14: mostly what you see on social media or the mishapps,
- 35:10Speaker 14: but actually overall it's been very well received and it's
- 35:13Speaker 14: helped the traffic flow. No more rail traffic to deal
- 35:15Speaker 14: with because they fly over. So I think it's going
- 35:18Speaker 14: really well.
- 35:19Speaker 4: Yeah, we're talking with South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullins. I
- 35:21Speaker 4: know this past Saturday you had a big event there
- 35:24Speaker 4: at the South Charleston Farmers Market. I presume everything went
- 35:27Speaker 4: well there.
- 35:29Speaker 14: Yeah, I went there. I went there too on Saturday. Good,
- 35:31Speaker 14: good crowd, good event. Uh celebrating I think it's National
- 35:35Speaker 14: Farmers Week. We were celebrating, so we had a lot
- 35:37Speaker 14: of things there for folks to do and it went
- 35:39Speaker 14: really well. Farmers Market is doing great.
- 35:41Speaker 4: It's a fantastic facility. I mean it really really is
- 35:44Speaker 4: if you haven't had an opportunity to check it out.
- 35:45Speaker 4: We had Sean Zuaniga on the show last week talking
- 35:49Speaker 4: about it. I mean, my wife and I've been there
- 35:51Speaker 4: several times. It is really really a gym there in
- 35:53Speaker 4: South Charleston, and really for the entire Kanaw Valley.
- 35:57Speaker 14: Yeah, it really is, and it's really exceeded my expectations.
- 36:00Speaker 14: I kind of had a good feeling about it, thought
- 36:01Speaker 14: it was going to do well, but it's really kind
- 36:03Speaker 14: of exceeded it. And Sewn's done a good job with its,
- 36:05Speaker 14: as some of our other staff members. I keep adding
- 36:08Speaker 14: things to my staff's plate and they keep hitting the
- 36:10Speaker 14: whole run. That's gonna like to see.
- 36:11Speaker 4: Well, that's a sign that you got a good staff,
- 36:13Speaker 4: right there, is if you can keep throwing stuff out
- 36:15Speaker 4: of them and they say and they say next, come on, man,
- 36:17Speaker 4: they're bringing on bringing on all right ely.
- 36:19Speaker 8: Right, sure, right?
- 36:20Speaker 4: What's going on with the with the plaza out there
- 36:22Speaker 4: with them all, What's what's happening there? Anything new?
- 36:25Speaker 14: Well, you know, we just had the groundbreaking for Kroger Marketplace,
- 36:28Speaker 14: the big first one in the state of West Virginia.
- 36:30Speaker 14: You guys have heard me say that before. That was
- 36:32Speaker 14: an Actually that's a big deal for us to get
- 36:34Speaker 14: that big box anchor store going. And and what that
- 36:37Speaker 14: does is that dominoes everything else. And we've already had
- 36:40Speaker 14: phone calls from developer they want to expedite some of
- 36:42Speaker 14: the other stores a little bit now. So I think
- 36:44Speaker 14: you'll see some more stores starting in September as well.
- 36:47Speaker 14: So it's off and running and we're excited.
- 36:50Speaker 4: And before we let you go, I know everybody is
- 36:52Speaker 4: excited about Summerfest to getting under wayne South Charleston and
- 36:55Speaker 4: briefly talk about that.
- 36:57Speaker 14: Great event every year, right, Dave. So it starts Wednesday thirteenth,
- 37:00Speaker 14: runs Wednesday to Saturday, as always a lot of live entertainment.
- 37:03Speaker 14: Uh talked to Mick yesterday, who's basically lives down there
- 37:06Speaker 14: this week. My park superintendent kind of handles things. He says,
- 37:09Speaker 14: we got more ventors this year than we've ever had,
- 37:11Speaker 14: so we have most vendors we've ever had, so we're
- 37:13Speaker 14: expecting a great event. Drone show Friday night, Saturday night
- 37:17Speaker 14: capped off the fireworks.
- 37:18Speaker 4: Everybody come down to this all right, Hey, Mayor, I
- 37:20Speaker 4: know you're busy day. We'll let you get back to work.
- 37:22Speaker 4: And remember, if Mayor Mallins can can survive this and
- 37:25Speaker 4: can do this successly, anybody can. Right.
- 37:29Speaker 14: That's exactly right, Dave, Thanks for having me.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Martin appreciate you, all right. So that is South Charleston
- 37:34Speaker 4: Mayor Frank Mullins appreciate him taking time to be honest,
- 37:36Speaker 4: you have a little fun there with maryor Mallins. He's
- 37:38Speaker 4: a good guy and he and I like to go
- 37:40Speaker 4: back and forth with each other a little bit. And look,
- 37:43Speaker 4: I'll tell you we have I have to say we
- 37:47Speaker 4: have some pretty good mayors in this area because I
- 37:49Speaker 4: interview all of them from South Charleston to Winfield of course,
- 37:53Speaker 4: to Charleston and Saint Albans and Dunbar and Clinton, Dennon
- 37:57Speaker 4: and Hurricane. I know I'm gonna leave one out. I'm
- 37:59Speaker 4: gonna get in trouble, but the bell all of them
- 38:03Speaker 4: on the show, and they're always willing when I reach
- 38:07Speaker 4: out to say, hey, mayor, would you like to come
- 38:09Speaker 4: on and talk about this? They never turned me down.
- 38:12Speaker 4: They're always like, yep, we want to get some word
- 38:14Speaker 4: out to people. So just know what he talked about
- 38:16Speaker 4: was that Jefferson Road project. That construction is going to
- 38:19Speaker 4: be going on for a couple of days. So, as
- 38:20Speaker 4: the mayor said, just pack your patients all right, and
- 38:23Speaker 4: everybody will get through it. The Dave Island Showing five

- 46:16Speaker 4: One of the hardest things I ever had to do
- 46:18Speaker 4: was be a judge for a biscuits and gravy competition. Well,
- 46:22Speaker 4: I've signed up to do it again this year. Several
- 46:23Speaker 4: of us here from the radio rancher we're doing that
- 46:26Speaker 4: and it's not till the fall, but it's already being
- 46:30Speaker 4: planned now as we speak. So we're going to talk
- 46:33Speaker 4: to some of the representatives. Also just confirmed and that
- 46:35Speaker 4: Paula Potter, looks like tentatively the superintendent of schools in
- 46:39Speaker 4: Knawa County, is going to join us on the show
- 46:41Speaker 4: tomorrow as well. And of course it is it's back

- 46:47Speaker 4: back to school time. So that is all coming up
- 46:49Speaker 4: on tomorrow show. A couple of quick things in the news.
- 46:53Speaker 4: I guess we are now in the afterglow of the
- 46:56Speaker 4: Bernie Sanders visit to the Mountain State. He of course
- 46:58Speaker 4: was in Wheeling Friday night, and Leonore and Mingo County
- 47:02Speaker 4: and at the Conliseum here in Charleston Saturday night. He said,
- 47:07Speaker 4: at those stops, and this is a quote, Trump didn't
- 47:10Speaker 4: win West Virginia. The Dems lost it. I don't know
- 47:17Speaker 4: about that. Let me just say two things can be
- 47:20Speaker 4: true at the same time. The Democrats have definitely my opinion,
- 47:27Speaker 4: fumbled the ball across the country over the last several years.
- 47:32Speaker 4: And I'm talking more on the national level. Their imaging
- 47:36Speaker 4: is horrible and the old saying in marketing. As a
- 47:41Speaker 4: public relations major, I can tell you that they larnt
- 47:43Speaker 4: me up at Marshall University that if you're not telling
- 47:48Speaker 4: your story, someone else is going to tell it for you.
- 47:52Speaker 4: And the Democrats, my opinion, the story, the story of
- 47:55Speaker 4: the Democrats, has been told by the Republicans, and many
- 47:59Speaker 4: Democrat still don't realize why Donald Trump won. Nonetheless, I'll
- 48:06Speaker 4: say this, no matter how you feel about Bernie Sanders,
- 48:09Speaker 4: and I am no fan, he's out there. And I
- 48:14Speaker 4: didn't mean that like it sounded. I mean, he's in public.
- 48:16Speaker 4: I should say he's out there too, but he's also
- 48:18Speaker 4: in public. DJ Meadows is making faces at me here
- 48:21Speaker 4: because they said he's out Now. What I meant was
- 48:23Speaker 4: he's actually out among the people. Huh. And here's the
- 48:29Speaker 4: part where people are going to think that old Dave
- 48:31Speaker 4: has lost his mind, all right, which that happened a
- 48:34Speaker 4: long time ago. There are a great number of similarities
- 48:38Speaker 4: between Bernie and Donald Trump, a great number. Matter of fact,
- 48:42Speaker 4: I was talking to a good friend of mine who
- 48:46Speaker 4: is about the liberal progressive Democrat as you can get,
- 48:50Speaker 4: and they said the exact same thing. There are a
- 48:54Speaker 4: lot of similarities between between the two. Both Trump and
- 49:00Speaker 4: Bernie have found their niche in people who think they
- 49:02Speaker 4: have been marginalized by the ruling party. Trump won in
- 49:06Speaker 4: twenty sixteen because a lot of Republicans were left cold
- 49:09Speaker 4: by the status quo in the Republican Party. Same with Bernie.
- 49:13Speaker 4: A lot of Democrats weren't exactly enamored with the status
- 49:16Speaker 4: quo and the Democratic Party. And of course both Sanders
- 49:19Speaker 4: and Trump do have support from independence, so there are
- 49:23Speaker 4: a lot of similarities. We had another giant pothole situation
- 49:27Speaker 4: yesterday in Charles the multiple vehicles fell victim to it.
- 49:30Speaker 4: Metro nine to one one yesterday reported had happened yesterday
- 49:33Speaker 4: on seventy seven thousand New Leon Sullivan Way at mile
- 49:35Speaker 4: marker one hundred. It seems like it. It never ends,
- 49:39Speaker 4: Tex says well Trump deranging Trump derangement syndrome. Suffers aren't
- 49:44Speaker 4: going to like it. But Trump does have the authority
- 49:46Speaker 4: to activate the twenty seven hundred member DC National Guard
- 49:49Speaker 4: without approval of local officials. Unlike other branches, he would
- 49:53Speaker 4: not have to get the sign off of local authorities
- 49:55Speaker 4: to act, likely making the activation a tempting option. By
- 49:59Speaker 4: the way, DC is the most dangerous world capital according
- 50:02Speaker 4: to new data. So keep Winding says the texture. Well,
- 50:05Speaker 4: violent crime is also down in the nation's capital. That's
- 50:08Speaker 4: a proven fact. Violent crime is actually down. I don't know.
- 50:11Speaker 4: Maybe it is the most dangerous capital in the world.
- 50:13Speaker 4: I find that very hard to believe. I think there's
- 50:15Speaker 4: some South Americans, some Central American capitals may be a
- 50:17Speaker 4: little bit more dangerous. I'll go. We'll go with the
- 50:21Speaker 4: assumption that the texture is correct, though, but violent violent
- 50:24Speaker 4: crime is down in the nation's capital. But TJ. Meadows
- 50:28Speaker 4: is here. Last week I got myself into a little
- 50:30Speaker 4: bit of trouble because I started talking about violent crime
- 50:32Speaker 4: statistics in America actually going down.
- 50:34Speaker 14: And my.
- 50:36Speaker 4: Theory that in America we are afraid of fear is
- 50:39Speaker 4: one of my favorite people, John Stossel, would say, we're
- 50:41Speaker 4: absolutely afraid of fear. People called me out on it
- 50:44Speaker 4: and said, well, the major cities don't contribute to the
- 50:47Speaker 4: FBI statistics. I did some research, and as I said earlier, TJ.
- 50:51Speaker 4: Two things can be right at the same time. They
- 50:53Speaker 4: didn't always contribute. The major cities New York, Chicago, and
- 50:57Speaker 4: la among them, didn't always contribute to the federal crime statistics.
- 51:02Speaker 4: But they do now and on on a whole as
- 51:07Speaker 4: with DC, violent crime is going down in America. Good morning, sir,
- 51:13Speaker 4: Good morning. How's it going?
- 51:15Speaker 20: Walk two blocks any direction in city center Philly? See
- 51:19Speaker 20: if you feel like crime's going down. But that's that's
- 51:22Speaker 20: my experience. Why does Bernie hate rich people? When did
- 51:26Speaker 20: it become a crime to work? Because America rich people.
- 51:32Speaker 20: I've been through this. We've looked at the numbers. Take
- 51:34Speaker 20: every penny of wealth that the top one percent has
- 51:38Speaker 20: distributed over the other ninety nine percent, each household, we'd
- 51:42Speaker 20: get about three hundred thousand dollars. What happens when somebody
- 51:44Speaker 20: wins the lottery and gets about three hundred thousand dollars?
- 51:47Speaker 20: Quickly gone, quickly done. What's next? Yeah, what's next?
- 51:51Speaker 4: Let me read this text here, Okay, get your opinion.
- 51:54Speaker 4: Bernie Sanders is the reason, says the textra why we
- 51:56Speaker 4: have Trump? If we would have had gotten out in
- 51:59Speaker 4: the if he would have gotten out of the twenty
- 52:01Speaker 4: sixteen election, we wouldn't be in this mass. Your take, Yeah,
- 52:05Speaker 4: I don't know. I have to think about that.
- 52:07Speaker 20: So they're saying the reason we have Trump is because
- 52:09Speaker 20: Bernie Sanders was lighting everything up and don't.
- 52:13Speaker 4: I get where you're going.
- 52:14Speaker 20: I don't know, but yeah, Bernie, Bernie hates Bernie hates
- 52:20Speaker 20: rich people.
- 52:21Speaker 4: Indeed. I mean, look, we'll get into it and talk
- 52:24Speaker 4: a lot. I listened to the speech. I was not impressed.
- 52:26Speaker 4: All right, give me ten seconds. What's on the show today, Hayley.
- 52:30Speaker 20: Bon stops Spy coming up at ten oh six. We'll
- 52:31Speaker 20: talk about this funding issue for the family treatment courts.
- 52:34Speaker 20: Want to get into that, that and a whole lot more.
- 52:36Speaker 4: All right, quick text says you say crime is down,
- 52:38Speaker 4: like we shouldn't deal with Oh no, I am absolutely
- 52:41Speaker 4: the most redneck, hardcore person in the world when it
- 52:44Speaker 4: comes to dealing with crime.
- 52:45Speaker 21: But gotta go see you later till they have fun.
