- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10I like you, Clowny. Well, watch your least favorite
- 0:13Scary Movie, The podcast where we talk about the good, the bad,
- 0:16the ugly and the absurd, and all of our favorite.
- 0:18And least favorite scary movie because we believe every horror
- 0:21movie rightfully has this fan base even.
- 0:23If we don't always get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:25My name is Jesse, and hark the herald angels sing.
- 0:30Yeah. I suppose I sang, you know.
- 0:34Yeah. We're tying 2043.
- 0:36Yeah. Announcements Budget to your
- 0:42patrons. We will have a bonus episode out
- 0:45for you at some point within the next week or so and also your
- 0:49vote for January, so just be on the lookout for that.
- 0:53And I unfortunately don't have poll results because we're busy
- 0:56this past weekend and it completely so put my mind to do
- 1:00the poll so. I thought we had talked about a
- 1:03poll. We had discussed it and then I
- 1:06was in the middle of getting it done.
- 1:07But then we got moving. And then once we got moving, we
- 1:12never stopped, in fact, OK, So I didn't really.
- 1:17It was just gone, You know, I'm sorry.
- 1:19It happens every now and then, but you know, family thinks it's
- 1:21Christmas time. You know, we were out seeing
- 1:23friends, seeing family, all kinds of things and you know,
- 1:27that's just how it is. We're doing this at a later time
- 1:29than usual too. This isn't on a weekend when
- 1:31we're recording it. We're recording on Monday the
- 1:3223rd right now. So just to give you like a
- 1:35insight on how chaotic it's been, that's it.
- 1:40But you know, it's fine. We're still doing the episode.
- 1:42You know, the poll's not the end all be all of this whole thing.
- 1:45So I'm ready to talk about Terrified 3 because I've been
- 1:48excited about this for a long time.
- 1:49I fucking love these. I love this movie and I think
- 1:52we're going to have a good time. I sure hope so.
- 1:55All right, so you got the goodies this week.
- 1:58Terrifier 3 released September 19th, 2024 at the Fantastic Fest
- 2:03worldwide release on October 11th, 2024.
- 2:06We watched it on our 4K. In theory, but it is.
- 2:11Look that that part's not debatable, OK?
- 2:14Look, I'm going to just give any of you people a fair warning
- 2:18because I didn't know this and a lot of people didn't know this
- 2:21because it was advertised. Oh, I don't know necessarily if
- 2:24it was advertised, but it was stated online by official ish
- 2:29sources, blu-ray.com, that this had HDR. It does not have HDR.
- 2:35It's still in true 4K, but it does not have HDR, which is a
- 2:39bummer. It's a bummer for anybody that's
- 2:40into that thing. So just fair warning, there's an
- 2:43umbrella one that's coming out like sometime down the line
- 2:47soon. That one probably will have the
- 2:49HDR grade. So if you care about that, wait
- 2:52for that. OK.
- 2:55It's not available to stream anywhere, but you can rent it
- 2:57from Google Play, Fandango at home or Prime.
- 3:00Written and directed by Damian Leon, music by Paul Wiley.
- 3:03Special effects makeup head was John Caglion Junior.
- 3:07But we had like texts from texts and artists from Callison
- 3:12Studios and Tinsley Studio for all the different special
- 3:15effects and prosthetics and whatnot.
- 3:17Yeah, it's definitely from the behind the scenes thing.
- 3:21Not just Damian Leon doing his stuff all by himself anymore.
- 3:25Yes, there is a full team, so thank goodness for that.
- 3:28Yeah. Starring Lauren Lovera as
- 3:31Sienna, David Howard and Thornton is Art the Clown,
- 3:34Antonella Rose as Gabby Elliott, Fulham as Jonathan, Samantha
- 3:38Scaffidi as Victoria Hayes, Margaret Ann Florence as
- 3:41Jessica, Bryce Johnson as Craig, Alexa Blair Robertson as Mia and
- 3:46Mason McCarty as Cole Travis. Yes, time for our favorite game
- 3:52budget. Or.
- 3:54Buck, Ted. Buck, Ted.
- 3:59OK, Yeah. It is a it's 2 million.
- 4:03Damn, it's only 2 million. Only two million, but if you got
- 4:06to think the others were like a quarter million before so.
- 4:10The I think. What are you doing?
- 4:12Why are you looking stuff up? Well, there was one thing and I
- 4:16just kind of assumed that you probably may not have looked it
- 4:18up yourself. I just wanted to be prepared
- 4:20because I'm was going to ask this question out of all those
- 4:24people about Speak going back to the cast, did do they have the
- 4:29original Vicki playing this character or have they recast
- 4:33her? That's the original Vicki.
- 4:34That's Samantha's graffiti. OK, cool.
- 4:37That's interesting that they kept her.
- 4:39I was curious about that so I wasn't sure.
- 4:41OK, 2 million. You're right.
- 4:42They they only had like 250 ish 1000 for two Yeah and then
- 4:4825,000 for one. Yeah.
- 4:50So just so it keeps going. Out.
- 4:52Well, it should have been 2.5 million for this.
- 4:54Game. It had an opening box office of
- 5:0018.9 million and a worldwide gross of 89,000,000.
- 5:04IMDb score of 6.4 out of 10. That's insane.
- 5:08This movie did huge for a like a whole independent thing.
- 5:11Yes, absolutely it did. It was beating like
- 5:14blockbusters. So.
- 5:17Speaking of blockbusters. Yeah.
- 5:20I pulled 3 movies from 2024. OK.
- 5:23The theme is face paint. Face pain.
- 5:28It might not be for the whole movie, it might just be for like
- 5:31a specific scene or even just the poster, but that's my theme.
- 5:35Interesting. OK.
- 5:37The first one is Maxine I'm thinking.
- 5:40The Star. Of that scene where she's got.
- 5:43The. You're right.
- 5:44Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, you cross your.
- 5:46Eyes pink. Yeah.
- 5:47Yeah, that's a cool look. I like it.
- 5:49So that Released July 5th, 2024. A budget of 1,000,000 and a
- 5:53worldwide gross of 22,000,000. IMDb score of 6.3 out of 10.
- 5:58Damn. 2nd movie is where box office or block blockbuster
- 6:03comes in the crow. The Crow.
- 6:07Oh, I thought you were going to go Joker.
- 6:09No. This movie was pitted up against
- 6:12Joker kind. Of it was, but Joker was more of
- 6:14like a musical this time around. So I didn't want to pull it.
- 6:17Yeah, but I didn't want to pull it for a horror category.
- 6:21We always generally try and keep it horror.
- 6:22That's true. That's a true point.
- 6:24Yeah. OK.
- 6:25The crow. Yeah.
- 6:26I think Eve paints his face a time or two.
- 6:29Yeah. I don't know.
- 6:30I I watched the original. I'm sorry, people.
- 6:32I don't really care for the. Crow, he looks painted up on the
- 6:35poster. So that's what I went with.
- 6:38It's Skarsgard being a sad boy for usual.
- 6:41Yeah, that's what the Skarsgard's do.
- 6:42Yeah, I saw something that Bill Skarsgard said after doing
- 6:47Nosferatu that he doesn't want to ever play an evil character
- 6:51like that ever again. And the top comment was he's a
- 6:55Skarsgard. His options are Vampire, Viking,
- 6:59Vampire, Viking or Viking vampire, to which I also want to
- 7:03add or pretentious little sad boy.
- 7:05I also add clown. Clown.
- 7:09Fits well too, which fits with this movie even.
- 7:12OK so The Crow released August 23rd 2024.
- 7:16Budget of 50 million, worldwide gross of 24,000,000.
- 7:22IMDb score lowest of Metrio 4.7 out of 10.
- 7:25I know a lot of people hated it, but I know a lot of people that
- 7:28we are friends with loved it. So you know, it's your mileage
- 7:31may vary type deal I guess. I'm crow free in my life
- 7:36currently. Neither crow I've.
- 7:37Never seen any crow I I've never seen an actual bird.
- 7:41The crow you know. Yeah.
- 7:44No, no, I should mention. Crows aren't real.
- 7:47Birds aren't real. It's a conspiracy.
- 7:49Yeah. And, you know, I think we're on
- 7:50to. Something here, a third movie is
- 7:53something called Hot Season. Hot Season Yeah, it's about a
- 7:57woman who gets like seasonal work at a hot and her Co workers
- 8:01start missing and they're killed in the ways that match their
- 8:03characters. Wow, that's interesting.
- 8:05Yeah, but I saw some like shots where obviously she had on.
- 8:09Face paint. Yep.
- 8:10Yeah. OK, so that released October 20,
- 8:14October 24th 2024. Couldn't find a budget cuz I
- 8:17think it went straight to streaming.
- 8:19That sounds about right. But it did make a worldwide
- 8:21gross of 66,000 and has an IMDb score 4.9 out of 10.
- 8:26If it went straight to streaming it wouldn't have a gross.
- 8:29I don't know what Simon. I've got the.
- 8:32Information I have. Yeah, it's a low key release, I
- 8:34suppose. OK.
- 8:36OK, I've got tag lines. There weren't any on the
- 8:39posters, but there's that. There are tag lines nonetheless.
- 8:43That's a good that's a trend that's been happening the
- 8:46further removed we are from the past.
- 8:49Yeah, I, I don't. It's it's just an.
- 8:52I'm not asking for an explanation, I'm just making an
- 8:55observation out. Loud right?
- 8:58Terror under the Christmas moonlight.
- 9:01Terror under the Christmas moonlight.
- 9:04That sounds like a song. All I can think of is the
- 9:08Michael Keaton era of Batman and Jack Nicholson's Joker.
- 9:12Have you ever danced to the Devil under the pale?
- 9:14Midnight. Yeah, Yeah.
- 9:15Oh, kind of. Yeah, I can see that, yeah.
- 9:16Bring that back to clowns. It's clowns all the way down.
- 9:20Full circle of clowns. You better not shout.
- 9:24You better not cry. That's just song lyrics.
- 9:28But yeah, I did. Not know.
- 9:30Better not shout. Better not shout and prepare to
- 9:35be terrified again. You know, not too impressed with
- 9:40these. I'm not either.
- 9:41That's surprising. I know you're gonna say, you
- 9:43know, not too bad and I was gonna disagree with you.
- 9:45No, no, I don't think that these are that great.
- 9:47I think that this movie deserves way better.
- 9:49Tagline, OK? I feel like they put no effort
- 9:52into. Those.
- 9:53Like song lyric, generic shit that doesn't really make much
- 9:57sense and then I don't even know.
- 9:59Damien Leone said that this increased budget is going
- 10:02towards more special effects makeup artists, more hands on
- 10:07deck to help clean the bathrooms they destroyed.
- 10:10And a double for David Howard. Thornton.
- 10:16Yeah, he was so amazed when he saw this.
- 10:18It was like, wow. OK, so I've got some fun facts.
- 10:24There wasn't like a ton on the Internet surprisingly.
- 10:28And the disk mostly just had like like as the making of like
- 10:34mini documentary type thing. But it wasn't really didn't go
- 10:37into like a whole lot of detail. So it's just like stuff I picked
- 10:39up. They're watching it.
- 10:41They haven't like a whole other full blown documentary, I take
- 10:44it, coming out with that umbrella that we was talking
- 10:47about. Yeah, Art attack.
- 10:48Yeah. So that'll be more of the in
- 10:50depth info whenever that's out. So principal photography took
- 10:55place from February 2024 to April 2024.
- 10:59Leon filmed with Panavision anamorphic lenses to make it
- 11:03feel like a vintage drunk Carpenter film.
- 11:06Oh, that's cool, you know. I thought you'd like that little
- 11:08tidbit. Yeah, the OK everything about
- 11:12the cinematography of this movie does feel very classic.
- 11:15It feels retro for sure. And hearing that really, really
- 11:19makes like it, puts it into perspective.
- 11:21Yeah, and I will say there's something that like I was
- 11:24writing down as we went through every time I caught a reference
- 11:27to another horror movie. So I'll point those out as we
- 11:31talk about the movie. That was my favorite thing of
- 11:33watching the behind the scenes footage was like seeing like how
- 11:36all the things were operating and yeah, I've seen where the
- 11:39camera was. But then I would keep the
- 11:40monitor at the bottom of the camera to be like, oh, that's
- 11:42the shot that they were getting there.
- 11:44That's so cool. Yeah, I like low key.
- 11:46That's one of my favorite things on set is when not on screen,
- 11:51like watching the filming and seeing like the actual screen of
- 11:54what is going to be. Yeah.
- 11:55Like the monitor, the, IT was so funny in the thing.
- 11:58You don't get a lot of, like, verbal information, but you get
- 12:00a lot of visual information from this.
- 12:02And one of the things is Chris Jericho watching himself get
- 12:05ripped. Yeah, from the face.
- 12:07My God, his reaction's like, that's creepy.
- 12:11Yeah. OK.
- 12:12So this is the highest grossing unrated movie of all time.
- 12:16Yeah. It.
- 12:16Shattered Records and the fact that it's independent, I think
- 12:21is part of what made that happen because they weren't limited by
- 12:25a studio or production company telling them like, you know, we
- 12:29have to make it fit like. Got cut this.
- 12:33This, this and this yeah, we have to be.
- 12:34MPAA approved and said it was just like, what theaters are
- 12:38willing to pick this up and which?
- 12:39I mean. Yeah, plenty did.
- 12:41It's it's, yeah, you'd be stupid not to at this point.
- 12:44Like there was there's so clearly an audience for this out
- 12:47there. So I do have a couple of things
- 12:50from this behind the scenes stuff. 1 is that David Howard
- 12:53Thornton's contact lenses that he uses for Art's eyes?
- 12:56Those are custom made to fit his eyeball and I think that's just
- 12:59really cool. And it's also really important,
- 13:01especially if you are a betting cosplayer out there, please go
- 13:04to an optometrist or an ophthalmologist and get fitted
- 13:07for contacts. That shit can fuck up your eyes.
- 13:10That's scary. Yeah, there was actually
- 13:12somebody in one of the cosplay subreddits I was reading earlier
- 13:16this week talking about how they had worn some like red tinted
- 13:21contacts and days later their vision was still fuzzy and I was
- 13:26like, go to the doctor. Yeah, what the fuck?
- 13:30Yeah. I would be so freaked out if I
- 13:33was like, yeah, I took it off and I still can't see well,
- 13:36like, what do you guys think? I don't know.
- 13:39I don't. Know why some people come to
- 13:42Reddit before anywhere else but yeah.
- 13:43I don't. Well, maybe there's various
- 13:47reasons, but. Yeah, So Jericho, Speaking of
- 13:51Chris Jericho, they his face prosthetic, they did it in a way
- 13:55where they would be able to do multiple takes with it if they
- 13:57needed to. So his school was actually kind
- 14:00of like Puzzle, pieced together and held up by chicken wire so
- 14:02they can crush it and pop it back out for a second take.
- 14:07That's really good because like, yeah, that way I can't.
- 14:09It's so intricate seeing that stuff and then and having to
- 14:14just redo it or only having one shot, that would suck.
- 14:17And also for like all of the silicone faces, for like the
- 14:21various face ripping that they had going on, they just had like
- 14:24multiple sheets of silicone ready to go to like just RIP
- 14:27away. So like we saw with the the one
- 14:30of the demolition guys Dennis up in the attic that we saw them
- 14:34practice or do that shot multiple times.
- 14:36Yeah, just pulling the face back up and then pulling it down,
- 14:39yeah. And that's that thing is also
- 14:40really funny where David was like chewed off the fingers and
- 14:44he's just making different faces.
- 14:46One point, whack his tongue and Damien are just cracking up in
- 14:50the. Background.
- 14:51The best part about that is you can in the movie he's mute, but
- 14:56there you can kind of hear some of the noises he's making.
- 14:59Yeah, yeah, it's a little bit of something to it.
- 15:02Also this, I heard there was a scene where Gabby and Sienna, so
- 15:07Lauren and Antonella, they're in Gabby's room on set and she was
- 15:12like pointing out the different things on the set.
- 15:14And she goes, these are all the paintings.
- 15:15And I actually did all those paintings and I'm hoping I
- 15:18didn't mishear that, but I I felt like I heard her say I did
- 15:22all of those paintings. She did, but I couldn't tell if
- 15:24she was running through. Her character aligns with
- 15:28Warren. I think she might have actually
- 15:30done the paintings. I have to.
- 15:32Uncommon for that type of thing to happen if they need it to
- 15:35look like age appropriate. No, I mean, if that's the case,
- 15:38that's cool. That's just how I interpreted
- 15:40watching that. But it could be that she did
- 15:42that. Yeah, that'd be awesome if that
- 15:44were true. Headless Art was a combination
- 15:48of a giant puppet. And I do mean giant, because
- 15:51David Harron Thornton is a tall man, one of the rare horror
- 15:55killers who's actually tall. Yeah, he's one of the ones that
- 15:59surprised me because he doesn't look tall in the movies.
- 16:01Yeah. They also did like scenes where
- 16:04he had to, you know, like when he was choking out the cough and
- 16:07what not. They had David in like the suit,
- 16:09but they had a green screen mask on him, so that way they could
- 16:12edit his head out and they had to shoot those very particularly
- 16:15so they'd be able to get the look just right.
- 16:17The thing that always messes with me with those is how do you
- 16:20remove the head but retain the information in the background if
- 16:24there's nothing there? I think it's probably like a
- 16:27pattern repeating, like a fill in kind of smart technology.
- 16:32Surely, yeah, but that's just always blown my mind how they do
- 16:36that. Yeah.
- 16:38And then finally, I the bathroom, it was fun watching
- 16:41them set up the scene where Vicki like is in the bathtub and
- 16:44everything because they had this whole, they had like three
- 16:47people setting up the branches throughout the bathroom and
- 16:51filling up the tub with sludge there.
- 16:53Yeah, synthetic shit and all of that.
- 16:57And they had like a dozen people cleaning it.
- 16:59I like I appreciated that they showed the cleanup process as
- 17:02well after. Yeah, it was insane.
- 17:04Like everybody was like there were so many people just
- 17:07cleaning. It made I really appreciate like
- 17:08oh shit, they actually like went to a real house and obviously
- 17:11did this because they had to clean up.
- 17:12I thought that they built a set. For well, it was either a real
- 17:14house or it was a real set that they were going to like reuse
- 17:16for something else at some point.
- 17:18That's true too. So.
- 17:20This all. That's that's the limitation of
- 17:22my fun facts. All of those shots like that
- 17:25right there and everything else, like where they're actually
- 17:27filming in a real house gave me such claustrophobia because it's
- 17:31like jam packed with like 20 people inside.
- 17:34Like a single house like that, that tiny house.
- 17:38Oh my God, they call this. I mean technically yes this is
- 17:41an indie movie but holy shit they had like full scale
- 17:44production shit. And also stuff like that tends
- 17:46to really mess up the temperature inside the building
- 17:48too, because you can't really run air because that messes with
- 17:54the sound. And it can mess with the set too
- 17:57because of, you know, wind moving around.
- 17:59So it it can be very uncomfortable.
- 18:02I saw that they had like little fog machines in there too, so
- 18:04yeah, that would just be blowing that all over the place.
- 18:06Yeah, I, I remember on the set for New Year's Eve, because we
- 18:10had got probably about 30 people in a tiny little conference room
- 18:14and we had like the fog machine going and could it like in
- 18:18between takes, like we had the fans going, but it was a lot
- 18:22that's. Yeah, no, but you know, I'm
- 18:24happy for them. Yeah, it's cool.
- 18:26Cool to see the progression. So that's it.
- 18:29All right, turn. My phone back.
- 18:30All right, So good, Bad, ugly and absurd.
- 18:32Yes, All right. I get to kick it off.
- 18:35Yes, you do. OK.
- 18:37So I love that they took him and put him in another holiday.
- 18:44The past 2 movies have been Halloween, which that's great.
- 18:47The character obviously thrives in that type of setting.
- 18:51But I love I love the winter setting.
- 18:53We were talking about that last weekend cold of Chucky.
- 18:56But making it a Christmas movie is so cool because I feel like a
- 19:01lot of people want that to be done with a lot of their swasher
- 19:04icons. Like they're like, OK, let's put
- 19:05them in like a different time of year or a different holiday or
- 19:07something like that and make it like, you know, refresh it.
- 19:10And they got on the train with that really fast with the being
- 19:13the third one. But it was really cool.
- 19:15I'm a troll and I would love to put Michael Myers in different
- 19:18holidays. Oh I would love that too.
- 19:20But you know what you can? You can realistically have a
- 19:24snowy Halloween. There's been snow documented.
- 19:27I'm not talking about snow, I'm talking about just full on
- 19:29different holidays just to like with the people.
- 19:31My Valentine's Day, yeah. Michael Myers.
- 19:33Yeah, He's, he exists. He's out there doing shit
- 19:37throughout the year. He doesn't just wait and like,
- 19:39look at his watch. Oh, it's Halloween now.
- 19:41We no. He doesn't wait and look at his
- 19:43watch, he goes down to his tunnel and eats his tunnel rats
- 19:46and then he comes out once a year.
- 19:48He just waits for Corey. Yeah.
- 19:49Damn, dude, come hang out. Come play.
- 19:52I like, you know, like the cats when they wrestle.
- 19:56So yeah, that was cool. I can tell that they really
- 20:01amped up everything with this movie here.
- 20:04Like they had like a full blown production.
- 20:07This movie looks professional. Like it doesn't look indie.
- 20:11It doesn't look amateur. Like they are super competent.
- 20:15They've gotten everything well crafted at this point.
- 20:17They've got it down. They got the character.
- 20:21I loved the progression of Sienna's story.
- 20:27You know we do the time jump up into present day which is cool
- 20:29because we had been living back in.
- 20:32They did some weird time stuff in the last one where it was
- 20:35like the same time ish. It was the year after the first
- 20:38one. Yeah, but yeah, but they also
- 20:41had that one scene where he was in there watching the TV with
- 20:43the pale girl and he was going to go like it Was that not the
- 20:46same night or did they jump a year in the.
- 20:48It was a year ahead because he was watching the interview with
- 20:53Vicki and Monica Brown, Which canonically happened a year
- 20:58after the events of the first one.
- 21:00So it was Co occurring with the story we got in Terrifier. 20
- 21:02OK, see that that messed with me either way I like that whole
- 21:06story of her, you know, having to like she you know, deal with
- 21:11all of her losses, her mom and everything like that.
- 21:13We get introduced to a new family.
- 21:16Jonathan being in college, that's a cool little new setting
- 21:19for that to happen and. Cool, is that the word you want
- 21:24to go for with it? It's not.
- 21:26Yeah. I mean, it's fine.
- 21:28You know, like I, I like having like college set pieces in these
- 21:31types of movies. So, you know, we get like the
- 21:33dorm party, we get him going into the dorm room and like
- 21:35killing them in the shower. Like, you know, without him
- 21:38there, that wouldn't be there. He wouldn't be at that college
- 21:41if it weren't for Jonathan. I just distinctly remember you
- 21:43multiple times saying that you just don't believe that
- 21:46Jonathan's in college. Oh, I don't.
- 21:48I mean, honestly, you look at that kid, and I mean absolutely
- 21:51no offense to the kid, but like he looks like a child still,
- 21:55which I did my freshman year of college too.
- 21:57I still looked like I belonged in middle school.
- 22:00I don't think I really grew out of it until halfway through
- 22:02sophomore year of college. But, yeah, I mean, it's a thing.
- 22:06Like he, I mean, he even still sounds young.
- 22:09Yeah. I mean, but I do for the
- 22:12character appreciated being in college.
- 22:15I love the quarrel of the effects.
- 22:16Everything's good. Art is fantastic, as always.
- 22:20I love the whole thing with him being like a like a Santa Claus
- 22:24fanatic. Yeah.
- 22:25That's one of my favorite scenes in the entire franchise when he
- 22:28like sees them in the bar. I don't know, there's there's
- 22:31just so much good to say about this movie.
- 22:33I thought that they knocked it out of the park.
- 22:34They fixed the pacing issues for the first one.
- 22:36We didn't have any moments where it dragged.
- 22:38I mean, there were some editing issues still this time around,
- 22:42but we'll go into that here in the next part.
- 22:45But overall, I thought that they like really punched it up big
- 22:48time. OK.
- 22:51I. Really appreciated the
- 22:53storytelling in terms of trauma and trauma responses and mental
- 23:01health and seeking therapy and treatment.
- 23:06I, I think that cause so many other movies take the approach
- 23:11of like, you know, this person is snapping on a dime, you know,
- 23:17freaking out over every little thing.
- 23:21Whereas we've seen Sienna, she's gone through treatment for five
- 23:24years in and out of impatient. And you know, that scene where
- 23:27Brooke's at the table and she's like, you know, hallucinating
- 23:30that she's yelling at her and blaming her for everything that
- 23:32happened. And she doesn't freak out and
- 23:35upset everybody else at the table.
- 23:36She just excuses herself. I really like the way they
- 23:39handled that too. I thought that that was really
- 23:41well done. And like when she sees art in
- 23:43the mall and she and this is, you know, we're in a horror
- 23:47movie and she obviously is actually seeing art, right.
- 23:53But realistically, her in the world of the movie is going
- 23:57well. No, I've been dealing with
- 23:58trauma. I've been having hallucinations.
- 24:00And even when Gabby asked about it, she says I'm sick.
- 24:03I talk to doctors, I take medicine and I try to be a
- 24:05little less sick every day. Like, I like that way she
- 24:08explains it. And I like that.
- 24:10This is such a real thing that people who have experienced
- 24:15trauma go through because your trauma response has likely at
- 24:18some point saved your life. Like, it didn't come from out of
- 24:21nowhere, you know? So then it becomes this
- 24:23balancing act of like learning that not everything needs to
- 24:26have that trauma response. You don't have to be afraid of
- 24:29everything all the time because that's not a healthy way to
- 24:31live. And it becomes counterproductive
- 24:33to always have that trauma response.
- 24:34At the same time, you can't turn it off completely because as
- 24:37humans, we do need to have like a response to things that
- 24:41present danger to us. It's just kind of trying to
- 24:44attune yourself and figure out, figure out what is dangerous.
- 24:48And I think that this movie does a really good job.
- 24:50And there's even a point where, you know, Jess is talking to
- 24:52Gabby and Gabby's like, I don't want her to go back to the
- 24:54hospital. And Jess is like, I don't
- 24:56either. But we need to do what's best
- 24:57for her to keep her safe and to keep her healthy.
- 25:00And I think that's such a nuanced way of looking at it
- 25:03that we don't always look at it from the emotional aspect of the
- 25:07moment. So I really appreciate what this
- 25:10movie does with that because I don't feel like we see this kind
- 25:13of a take in horror movies very often.
- 25:17No, no, not really. Yeah, it's pretty.
- 25:21It's usually kind of hand waved away a lot of times in horror
- 25:24movies, like people like trauma's almost like nonexistent
- 25:26a lot of the times. Yeah.
- 25:28Or if it is, then it's just used to kind of like make everybody
- 25:31completely discredit the character, but in kind of an
- 25:34over the top kind of way. Yeah, You know, so the other
- 25:39thing that I love about this movie is that, like art just
- 25:42reveling in the gore and violence and just having fun and
- 25:45the nonsense of like the blood snow Angel in the locker room.
- 25:51And I love my my continuing love of his continuing love and
- 25:55respect for the holidays. Like, because we talked about
- 25:58how he respects the rules of trick or treating and terrifier
- 26:02too. And in this one, he's a big fan
- 26:03of Santa. And when he learns, like, you're
- 26:04not a real Santa if you don't have a beard, like I like that
- 26:07he takes that to heart, like art, like, believes in the magic
- 26:10of holidays. And I think that's fun.
- 26:11And I'm going to have some very specific ideas about that when
- 26:15we discuss SQL ideas later, OK? Cool, so all.
- 26:18Right. So I just, and I think this like
- 26:21you said, I think the pacing of this works really well.
- 26:24It doesn't feel like it really drags.
- 26:26Even watching it last night, I know it is close to the same
- 26:29runtime runtime as Terrifier too, but it doesn't feel.
- 26:32It's just like. It's almost as long.
- 26:33It's just over 2 hours so this is lacking like half an hour
- 26:38compared to two. I think 2 is like 220 so it's
- 26:42like a 15 minute difference. OK, well then yeah, that's a
- 26:46long 15. I mean, that 15 minutes is
- 26:48essentially just like Jonathan being chased by art, getting
- 26:51whacked and then continuing to chase over and over again.
- 26:54Yeah. Also the whole bar scene is
- 26:58hilarious and Clint Howard being a little flip flopper I'm just
- 27:01going to agree with whatever the last thing said was is
- 27:04hilarious. I appreciate Clint Howard, but
- 27:06you know what? I, I, I noticed that he didn't
- 27:09want to fully commit. And by that I'm saying he didn't
- 27:13want to get his death filmed. Everybody else in this whole
- 27:18franchise, you get killed, it's shown and it's shown in
- 27:22gratuitous ways. But Clint Howard's like, shoot
- 27:24me but have the bullet hit off screen.
- 27:26I'll wait in a static shot and a pull of my boy.
- 27:29That's all I'm doing. That's it.
- 27:31He is Clint Howard. He's been around long enough, he
- 27:33can say what he wants to say. He can say whatever he wants to
- 27:35say, but I can be just as disappointed.
- 27:38OK, what is your bad besides Clint Howard's lack of
- 27:42commitment? It doesn't get any worse than
- 27:45that. Well, I don't know.
- 27:50I mean, there's really not a whole lot that I disliked about
- 27:53this movie. But I do agree with a lot of
- 27:56people. And I mean, this is like the
- 27:58most common sentiment I've seen online is how the ending is so
- 28:01rushed, where I feel like he took the criticism of the last
- 28:06one a heart too much and ended up cutting too much because we
- 28:11have something happened to Jonathan.
- 28:14Don't even know what happens to him.
- 28:16He gets a call and he agrees to go over to the house.
- 28:19Next thing we know, the uncle is over there picking him up and
- 28:21the demon voice is there emulating him.
- 28:24Like there's a lot of missing pieces.
- 28:27If that's meant to be like, oh, we'll find out in next movie,
- 28:30then I don't really like that because you left us with
- 28:35nothing. And I do want to pull this out
- 28:37now because you've kind of given me and inroad to talk about it.
- 28:41So. So this is from an interview
- 28:45with Damian Leon for Gizmodo. Well, I certainly thought about
- 28:48showing it, but I didn't for a couple reasons.
- 28:50One, I thought it would almost be disrespectful to that
- 28:52character, just how much I like that character.
- 28:55I don't want to see that character suffer after
- 28:56everything he's been through. I think the reveal is so
- 28:59important also because there's a big misdirect at the ending
- 29:01where you're not supposed to think that's Jonathan.
- 29:03You're supposed to think that's Gabby Skull.
- 29:05I thought it was more effective to just reveal it that way.
- 29:08I know a lot of people wanted to see that poor character get
- 29:10killed. Another reason is we would have
- 29:12had to kill him directly after the shower massacre scene, and
- 29:15everybody would have been completely desensitized at that
- 29:17point. It would have had no impact
- 29:19whatsoever. I think the audience need a
- 29:20little bit of time to breathe after that.
- 29:24You. You.
- 29:25You want to know what I say? I I know what you're going to
- 29:28say because I've shown you this screenshot before, but go ahead
- 29:31and say it for the listeners. Oh, I don't know what you're
- 29:33talking about. I'm I'm calling bullshit.
- 29:36Yeah, that's what you said when I showed you the screenshot
- 29:38before. Oh, OK, well, I'm calling
- 29:40bullshit. I mean, he's not dead.
- 29:42I mean, you can't kill a major character like that off that
- 29:46unceremoniously. Come on.
- 29:48Just because like, you've killed everybody else in this franchise
- 29:52so brutally like, oh, but that one's off limits.
- 29:55We saw fucking children massacred in this movie.
- 29:59Not one child. Children and then Jonathan is
- 30:03like, well, hold on, like I'm not fucking buying it.
- 30:08He's not dead. He's going to come back.
- 30:10I I guarantee it. That's my that's my prediction.
- 30:13But like, why else you can't? You can't just kill somebody
- 30:18that major off off screen like that.
- 30:22I think he is dead and we're going to get a flashback kill in
- 30:25the next movie. He'll be in hell, maybe because
- 30:27they're going to go to hell. Maybe he's just like, Oh yeah, I
- 30:30was a fucking asshole. And you know, he's like circle
- 30:33number one. It's Jonathan.
- 30:37Cuz you know it's gonna be the 9 circles of hell or whatever.
- 30:40So well cuz that's the short that Art the Clown first appear
- 30:42in was the 9th circle. And they're reading the book.
- 30:44Yeah. At the end of the movie.
- 30:46Like, I mean, it's all pointing to this.
- 30:47So yeah, maybe circle #1 is like, hey, I'm Jonathan.
- 30:50Oh, shit, what's up? OK, that's not it, though.
- 30:52I mean, also just the way that the for my bad at the end, how
- 30:57like art just appears. Art and Vicki appear in the
- 31:00house just like like that. Like there's so much missing
- 31:05from when he goes to go get Jonathan to when they all like
- 31:08the finale of the movie. Like I thought I was watching
- 31:14her have a nightmare the first time I was watching that.
- 31:17But then 5 minutes into the whole ordeal, I'm like, Oh no,
- 31:21we're actually doing this right now.
- 31:22Oh, OK. I kind of like that we thought
- 31:25of I because I feel like we kind of went through Sienna's
- 31:27experience with that. Like, is this a nightmare?
- 31:29Oh God, no, it's real. I feel like that would make more
- 31:31sense if she ever questioned herself, but the entire time
- 31:34anytime that she saw him she was certain of it.
- 31:37So if it was her, like doubting if it was him or not, then like,
- 31:41oh, this time it actually is him, then that would be one
- 31:44thing. But no, like every single time
- 31:47we saw him, like it was like, for real him.
- 31:50OK, yeah. But I mean, that's yeah.
- 31:52Those are my only real issues that I have with this.
- 31:57Yeah, I I think the pacing was really good, but I do think that
- 32:02we we lost some major plot points because of it.
- 32:05And I think, you know, we have some really pretty shots, like
- 32:08that whole opening sequence, really great cinematography.
- 32:12I love the opening. I think it's fantastic.
- 32:15Ultimately, it does nothing to drive the plot.
- 32:19It does nothing to drive the plot, but what it does it sets
- 32:22the tone perfectly. I understand that.
- 32:24I just also think that because of that, we might have lost the
- 32:29opportunity for those other like transition scenes.
- 32:34If that's what? You know where we see Greg and
- 32:36Jonathan's death. If that's the sacrifice that it
- 32:39takes to get that opening, then I'll take that sacrifice every
- 32:42day. I love their opening so much.
- 32:44It's so fucking good. OK, what is your ugly?
- 32:49I hate the way Mia's character treats the whole case and
- 32:54confronts Jonathan and Sienna about like these super fucked up
- 32:59traumatic things for the sake of her podcast.
- 33:03And then whenever they see clips of the two of them talking about
- 33:06it during like when Jonathan's watching the clips of the
- 33:09podcast, they're so fucking disrespectful and they're like
- 33:13the worst kind of podcasters. I hope people don't see us like
- 33:15that. They're trash people.
- 33:18They they pissed me off. Yeah, Now we've talked about
- 33:21that on the show before, about how predatory true crime can be
- 33:26a lot of times, especially when it doesn't take into account the
- 33:28fact that the people involved in those cases are real people.
- 33:31And I like that this movie has that moment, especially where
- 33:34Sienna just fucking lets loose on Mia.
- 33:37Dude, I mean this. I mean, can you blame her?
- 33:39Because the way that she approached it, she's like, Oh my
- 33:41God. Like the fans are so hungry for
- 33:42content. We want to know like, you know
- 33:44what you're doing to cope or like what a normal meal for you
- 33:47is like, are you? Are you you?
- 33:49Propose like a get ready with me video, which I'm sure you don't.
- 33:54Those don't come across your feet very often, but I've seen
- 33:58plenty of those. And the idea that they want to
- 34:00put somebody who at best is like a survivor of a mass murder and
- 34:06at worst is the perpetrator of the mass murder.
- 34:10Have a get ready with me video. With her, what it was was
- 34:13essentially she wanted the ending, the new year, new you.
- 34:17Yes. Yeah, where she's like, oh, so
- 34:20yeah, like I had this huge traumatic thing that overcame.
- 34:22So let's learn self-defense. Yes, You know, no, like it's so
- 34:26fucking. Scary out there, people.
- 34:28Yeah, exactly. Yeah, that's she, she watched
- 34:31them and she said, oh, that's what it's like, trauma.
- 34:34She learned nothing either because she went and got
- 34:38pregnant by Edward Colin. Oh, I thought we were talking
- 34:40about the character in this movie here.
- 34:42I'm like. No, I missed that too this time.
- 34:43That was the key Waterhouse. She got so not only did Jonathan
- 34:46die off screen, but she got pregnant by Edward Colin off
- 34:49screen. Maybe I need the opening taken
- 34:52out? Too much was missed.
- 34:55Yeah, OK. Tend.
- 34:56To be inferred. Damn it, now I'm conflicted.
- 34:58All right. What was your ugly?
- 35:02Probably children being murdered at Santa's Play Village in the
- 35:05mall. Oh boy.
- 35:07I listen. Here's the thing.
- 35:09This is fiction, and I can separate fiction from reality.
- 35:12And I am often, unlike certain government officials, horrified
- 35:17when mass murder occurs, especially when it involves
- 35:20children. This is a movie.
- 35:23Art is in no way painted as a redeemable guy.
- 35:26He's not a character you're supposed to root for.
- 35:28He's not the good guy. He is explicitly evil.
- 35:33I am. And in this movie they stayed
- 35:35outright. He is possessed by a demon.
- 35:38We we have had this debate like back as far back as the
- 35:43beginning of this podcast. But I remember one of the
- 35:46earliest ones is do you root for the killer?
- 35:48And I am always, yeah, I root for the killer because it's fun.
- 35:52But I'm just saying like this, when a movie does this, does
- 35:58this, it's not afraid to go there you like.
- 36:01It's a ballsy move. Yeah, right.
- 36:04I mean, again, they establish the tone with that opening so
- 36:06well. We see a fucking child get
- 36:08dismembered. And it's fucking upsetting.
- 36:11And all I can think of is how upsetting it had to have been to
- 36:13put those little prosthetic props together and everything.
- 36:18And this scene is appropriately horrifying, which is why it's on
- 36:23my ugly. Am IA little bit is it bad for
- 36:26me to say that Like I I don't find that to be the worst scene
- 36:31in the movie. I know a lot of people put that
- 36:33up like every movie has that scene that they reference like
- 36:36the first one about the crack of dawn.
- 36:38The second one is Casey's death and a lot of people go to the
- 36:41mall scene for this movie but I don't really find that to be as
- 36:46bad as like the chainsaw kill with Mia and her boyfriend.
- 36:55I understand this children. It's children.
- 36:58I think there's also like a thematic element of like, the
- 37:01loss of innocence because these are children that are young
- 37:03enough that they still believe in Santa.
- 37:05They've just been given all of these free toys.
- 37:07They're playing, they're having fun.
- 37:08It's a joyful moment. Everybody feels safe.
- 37:11And then it's like, yeah, this horrific tragedy.
- 37:15It's what if this were to happen in real life, I would be
- 37:19horrified. OK, but I'm watching a movie
- 37:21where I have already seen a child die once already.
- 37:23So, but it reminded me of the unedited footage of a bear where
- 37:31the kids go in and they see the mom has like presents and
- 37:34they're all jumping around and happy.
- 37:35And then she like bursts out from the present pile.
- 37:38It was, I don't know. It's kind of funny seeing the
- 37:40kids like, I'll be like, oh, I'll get a new toy.
- 37:43And then all of a sudden it's just like, I don't know, Yeah,
- 37:47it wasn't that bad for me. I just remember watching it in
- 37:50the theater with our friends and like I could feel like because
- 37:53they'd already seen it once and they wanted to see it again.
- 37:56So and they knew we were going so they asked what Showtime and
- 37:59they came with us And I like just I had both my hands over my
- 38:03mouth after that happened and I could feel eyeballs on me and I
- 38:08like Creek turn my head and they're both just staring at me
- 38:13and at the same time they mouth. You can't do that.
- 38:19Wait. Done.
- 38:21It got done. So that added to the experience
- 38:24for me, but. Yep.
- 38:26OK. Absurd.
- 38:29Well, one of the things is like, I it's hard to like, say
- 38:33anything that Art does. This is absurd because he's
- 38:35established such an absurd character already.
- 38:37But you mentioned it before. The snow Angel and the blood
- 38:40pile or the blood puddle? I love that that's.
- 38:43Such a beautiful shot. I love that, too.
- 38:45I love how he's eavesdropping on Mia and the boyfriend.
- 38:51Yeah. And she's like, he's like, I
- 38:54started to think you might want to fuck him.
- 38:55And she's like, I don't want to fuck him.
- 38:57And then he like, he's like, why?
- 38:59Like he's like, oh, I'm so offended by it.
- 39:01Yeah. I love the whole thing of him
- 39:03that he was dropping and like hearing like he's hearing people
- 39:05like actually like fan out about him a little bit, which is
- 39:08interesting. And also the scene with I felt
- 39:12called out because I have cosplayed is Art in front of
- 39:17both Damian Leon and David Howard Thornton.
- 39:20And that scene of the subway where the guy dresses Art gets
- 39:23on in there. He's like, oh, dude, nice
- 39:25costume. I was like, Oh my God.
- 39:27Like the the I was that, you know what I mean?
- 39:30Yeah, just like. I still love that picture of you
- 39:33and a separate art as we were like walking up to the center.
- 39:37Yeah, at the same time. That was really funny.
- 39:39Yeah. But you know, like I could tell
- 39:42that that came from like all the cons.
- 39:43That they go to. OK, what are yours?
- 39:48My absurd is the best driver at the end I need to talk to him
- 39:52because that woman, as I discussed, is reading the 9th
- 39:56circle, which is a little Easter egg, you know, and in reference
- 39:59to to Damian Lyon short. So the best driver says I'm not
- 40:05really into horror. I'll let gore and jump scares
- 40:07and stuff. Not really into that.
- 40:09I'm more of a ROM com guy myself.
- 40:13Then. He says Frankenstein.
- 40:16That's a classic. Sir, Sir, Sir.
- 40:22Are you saying Frankenstein? Is it welcome?
- 40:27Is this what we're establishing? Shit dude I was listening to.
- 40:33I started an audio book today about screen writing and they
- 40:38were identifying the different genres of movies and they used
- 40:43Frankenstein as an example of one.
- 40:44And I'm like, that doesn't make sense.
- 40:46I can't remember. I think they called it like a
- 40:48superhero movie. It's definitely science fiction
- 40:51and it's also definitely horror very much like in the genre of
- 40:54like existential horror. Yeah, but the definitions that
- 40:58I'm saying right now not it's not like textbook superhero type
- 41:03thing like it's like a like a story B thing like OK, here's
- 41:06like. Oh, kind of like when we do the
- 41:08bonus episodes of like, what genre is this movie really?
- 41:12Kind of it's, I'll have to. They have like really
- 41:17interesting names. It's for anybody curious, it's
- 41:22called Save the Cat. Save the cat.
- 41:25Oh, that's a reference to Alien Jonesy.
- 41:30They explained it in the book. They said it's like something
- 41:32like every scene has like a thing like save the cat where
- 41:36you and establish like a character that you like because
- 41:39they do something nice. So like, you know, like, oh,
- 41:42this is somebody that I want to root for and follow up.
- 41:44You first time you see them, Oh, they're like a hard ass.
- 41:46They're like a security guard and they're doing their job, but
- 41:48they also like on their way out, like, you know, do like a nice
- 41:51thing, like save a cat or something.
- 41:53Oh OK, yeah, so like they're a hard ass orderly that's not
- 41:56going to be your friend, but they are going to leave you a
- 41:57pack of dumb. Yes, exactly.
- 42:00Yeah, but we're not rooting for Carlos.
- 42:03I was rooting for Carlos. I mean, he was the one that was
- 42:07not really paying attention to the Sharp store.
- 42:10So yeah, that's a call back to last episode, everybody.
- 42:13Go listen to it. Well, OK, so anyway, what are
- 42:17we, ratings? Yeah.
- 42:19We got off track for. A second.
- 42:22I like this. I think this is probably my
- 42:26favorite of the three. As of right now, I'm gonna give
- 42:31this. What did I give the other ones?
- 42:33I give them 10s. I probably gave them 10s.
- 42:35I'll give this A10. I don't want to rank it lower
- 42:38than the ones I've ranked before, so I got to make it a
- 42:4210. Yeah, I'm fairly certain that I
- 42:44gave Terefer to A10 because I fucking love that movie.
- 42:48I fucking love this movie. I don't know if I could pick
- 42:50which one is my favorite between the two.
- 42:53It's hard. Well, this one for me.
- 42:56I just like it. Just it comes together together.
- 43:01It comes together so much better.
- 43:04There we go. That's what I was together and
- 43:06better it, it feels more complete, more confident, like
- 43:11they have taken and they also had more money, but they just it
- 43:16felt like they finally did it. Yeah, I know it really it
- 43:21really. You can tell Damian is getting
- 43:24better and better with every movie, and David and Lauren are
- 43:29just phenomenal. Lauren's a force.
- 43:31We need to be looking out for her because she is phenomenal.
- 43:35I really do hope that she breaks out of these movies and goes on
- 43:39to do bigger things too. I mean.
- 43:41She's already got some upcoming projects announced.
- 43:43Good. Yeah, I know that they're not
- 43:45gonna be keeping these up forever.
- 43:46I think I've heard that they've got maybe one or two more left.
- 43:49Yes, I always say that. Yeah.
- 43:51But you know, I understand wanting to move on to new things
- 43:54too. Well, he's always had like a
- 43:56planned arc with this, like he, like he's very much been telling
- 44:00this story, you know, with, with Sienna versus art.
- 44:05Yeah. Light versus dark, good versus
- 44:07evil, you know? It's been going on for decades
- 44:09at this point for. Him.
- 44:10All that to say, I'm also gonna give it a 10.
- 44:11So we was starting average of 10.
- 44:13OK, cool. All right, so if you can hear,
- 44:16we gotta go feed our pets real quick because Zoe's gonna bust
- 44:19on the door and kill us if not. So we'll be right back.
- 44:23So we open, it's a Christmassy house.
- 44:26It's nighttime also. OK, sorry, just a thought.
- 44:30I need to say right off the top. You know how in some Halloween
- 44:33movies, there's like a lot of Jack O lanterns in each shot?
- 44:37Like so many Jack O lanterns? Like an unrealistic amount of
- 44:41Jack O lanterns? Like who is putting up all of
- 44:43these Jack O lanterns? Like who has this much time?
- 44:45Yes. Yeah, that's how I feel about
- 44:47the Christmas decorations in this movie, cuz it's yeah,
- 44:49everywhere. It's include in that dingy dive
- 44:51bar. They don't have Pretty Little
- 44:53Garland with lights intertwined going around all of the corners
- 44:56and doorways. Yeah, you know, I mean, yeah,
- 44:59it's like movie magic. And I wish that our place looked
- 45:03as good as the places and everywhere we it looked as good
- 45:06as the places in this movie. Like the fucking like white
- 45:10situation at the frat house. Yeah, So insane.
- 45:13Yeah. But yeah, that one I actually
- 45:16believe they probably put like pledges up to like doing all
- 45:19that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:20But either way, it's yeah, it's it's amazing.
- 45:23I love that we've. Been to dingy dive bars at
- 45:25Christmas time. They're not decorated.
- 45:28No that one. But I love it.
- 45:29It does a good job of getting you in the Christmas mood with
- 45:33this movie. Well, we start off very much.
- 45:36We know it's Christmas time. Yes, we have a daughter, Juliet,
- 45:40AKA Jules. She wakes her mom up, and she
- 45:43says somebody's on the roof. Mom.
- 45:45Jen puts her back to bed. And she was like, you know what?
- 45:48It probably is. And it's probably 1 of Santa's
- 45:51elves scouting the area because I got to check, make sure
- 45:53everything's up to code. Yeah.
- 45:55The kind of bullshit parents tell their kids to keep the
- 45:57Santa magic alive. Yeah, I like it.
- 45:59I dig it. Yeah.
- 46:01It's good parenting right there. Yeah, and she asks very sweetly.
- 46:05Can we set out cookies and milk for the elves?
- 46:07How are you going to say no to that?
- 46:09Got it. So she goes downstairs and sets
- 46:13out cookies and milk, sees the front door is a jar and then
- 46:16comes upstairs is mad at her husband because he left the door
- 46:20unlocked again and she's like what?
- 46:23She cared about her family safety.
- 46:24By the way, your daughter thinks that an elf is going to eat some
- 46:27cookies and milk downstairs, so take care of that in the
- 46:29morning. I feel like she could have just
- 46:31not put them out but whatever, it's fine.
- 46:33Yeah, I mean, she could have a couple crumbs.
- 46:35Yeah, exactly. Yeah, eat one, maybe.
- 46:37Like you know, but you know they are.
- 46:41Did you ever put out? Carrots for the reindeer.
- 46:45No, my cousins came over and they had reindeer mix they
- 46:52called it and they would just go out into our yard and just throw
- 46:55shit. I never got it, wasn't ever part
- 46:59of my family. I went along with it because I
- 47:01didn't want to ruin it for them. But I'm like OK guys, thanks for
- 47:05throwing food in our ER fuckers. Yeah, so he's grumpy.
- 47:13He's gotta be up in three hours. I can't relate.
- 47:16But also at the same time, like waking up and you realize you've
- 47:19still got 3 hours before you have to wake up.
- 47:21That's nice. That's like the time when I
- 47:23wanna have to get up to pee. Yeah, unless you get that
- 47:26feeling. Oh no, I'm not falling asleep
- 47:28this time. Sometimes it'll happen and I'll
- 47:31be like, oh God, it's probably like 4:30 or something and then
- 47:34I'll look at my watch. It'll be like 11:45.
- 47:37I'm. Like.
- 47:37Man, is Travis even asleep yet? Like.
- 47:41So oh, and she also heard some steps up on the roof too, but
- 47:45she kind of just brushed them off.
- 47:46So she goes back to sleep. And then meanwhile, the little
- 47:51girl, Jules, yeah, decides to get up and take a peek
- 47:53downstairs just in case there are any elves or Santa Clauses
- 47:57down there. And she?
- 47:58Sees somebody in a Santa suit so she goes to try to wake her
- 48:00brother Timmy and he's like not now Juliet.
- 48:04Which IMDb put a quote from the scene.
- 48:09I miscredited her as Julia. Julia.
- 48:12It's Julia. Yeah, Yeah.
- 48:14Well, user submitted. Whatever, but yeah.
- 48:18And he just, like, shrugs her off.
- 48:20So she goes, and then she goes downstairs and then hides in the
- 48:25kitchen. And then this is when you see
- 48:27Art go and reach in the bag. And he pulls out an axe from the
- 48:31bag instead of a present. So he starts to make his way
- 48:35upstairs. It goes in the old Timmy's room,
- 48:37flips on the light, and we hear. A lot of flesh squelching.
- 48:41Yeah, he's like I told you, Jules, to get out of here.
- 48:43Right out the gate you get a kid getting chopped up.
- 48:46And then we go to Mark next. He's being hatcheted.
- 48:50And Jennifer finally wakes up and she's like, what are you
- 48:52doing? Why are you wet?
- 48:54And then she, like, realizes there's blood on her and starts
- 48:57screaming. And she screams at the kids to
- 49:01run and she tries to run out. She closes the door behind her.
- 49:05This is where we get a shining reference because he access
- 49:08through the door and peeks his head through.
- 49:10I had forgotten that that was happening, but I knew I was
- 49:12like, you know what this is? I mean any time that this is set
- 49:15up in. A war would be.
- 49:16It doesn't. Yeah, I mean, you can't help
- 49:18yourself. Yeah, so she runs to Timmy's
- 49:22room and. We see body parts all over the
- 49:26bedroom. I again, I can't imagine making
- 49:30tiny little prosthetics like that.
- 49:31That's gotta be kind of fuck you up a little bit doing it.
- 49:35Yeah, no, it's really, really fucked up.
- 49:38She runs to Juliet's room, finds it so open so she runs
- 49:42downstairs, and she tries to get to the front door.
- 49:44Ironically, she can't get it unlocked fast enough to get out,
- 49:47and Art gets a hold of her. He does make sure that he chops
- 49:50off her arm so she has one last horrifying thing to stare at
- 49:54before he acts as her in the head.
- 49:55Right in the head. Yep.
- 49:56Oh my God, it's so good. Then he goes into the kitchen
- 49:59and he has Santa, so he eats his milk and.
- 50:02Cookie, he knows the rules, yeah.
- 50:04And I want to point out he does eat and drink human food and
- 50:09drinks. This is important later, OK.
- 50:13Why is it important later? I'll bring it up when it's
- 50:16important later, OK? OK.
- 50:19And then, and then, because Art has his own weird set of values,
- 50:25he washes the plate and cup. I love that.
- 50:27That was so fun. Whenever I saw that, it's like,
- 50:30you know, yeah. I mean, didn't he do that in the
- 50:32second movie too? I wasn't he like doing the
- 50:35dishes at one point like. No, he wore an apron to make
- 50:38mashed potatoes. No in Casey's house.
- 50:41No, he was just getting a glass of water from the sink.
- 50:43OK. OK, yeah, I'm pretty sure he was
- 50:46Ally. The actress's name is Casey.
- 50:48I can never get her name. OK, I'm just gonna call her what
- 50:51I know. So yeah, he starts eating the
- 50:54cookies, and then he's just having a good time.
- 50:55And then he hears a little noise in the cabinets down below.
- 50:58So this is like fucking nightmare shit right here.
- 51:02He goes down there, crouches down, opens up the cabinet door.
- 51:04It's the little kid. Juliet.
- 51:07She doesn't look scared, she just looks resigned to her fate.
- 51:10I also want to point out this kid has a slick little Bob cut,
- 51:15and I want to know if it was a decision on the part of like,
- 51:18Damien or if her mom was like, fuck yeah, you're in a movie,
- 51:24let's go get your hair cut right now because it's a fresh cut.
- 51:27You think the parents know what kind of movie it is like, oh,
- 51:30OK, like. I seem to have to know that was
- 51:32one of the fun things too with the mall scene was in the behind
- 51:36the scenes stuff like David Howard Thornton just being a
- 51:39goof and taking pictures of the kids.
- 51:40Oh, he went. Joking around with them, he's.
- 51:42Like I wanted, I wanted to just let you guys know who I really
- 51:45am before we do the scene. Like, I'm just a big goofball.
- 51:47I'm not gonna be like an actual scary clown or anything like
- 51:50that. Yeah, it was really sweet.
- 51:52But man, yeah, this whole thing of him, just like he sees her
- 51:55and then it just cuts back to the axe on the table and you
- 51:58know he's about to grab it and then boom, title card.
- 52:02Five years prior, we see a cop responding to.
- 52:05The. Terrifier too, and it's.
- 52:07Terrifier. Yes, he got an anonymous call.
- 52:11I was going to say he responded to the terror fire, which is the
- 52:15right. Yeah, they got an anonymous call
- 52:18that there was the body of a man and potentially somebody else
- 52:22armed and dangerous down there. So he's looking around.
- 52:25He came to this knowing that there's potential for somebody
- 52:28else. Still came alone.
- 52:29Yeah. And.
- 52:31Small town under staff, just like the medical staff of the
- 52:34last movie that we discussed. So he sees the headless body of
- 52:39art and he calls it in. And then he hears some shuffling
- 52:44around. He says I'm not allowed to
- 52:45please send back up. And he goes and peeks in the
- 52:48hole. We're seeing it have been pushed
- 52:49through, sees nothing, like there's no trace of her, her
- 52:52sword or anything. And then he glances over, body's
- 52:56gone. And then we see headless body
- 52:59standing behind him. And then he just works on just
- 53:03yanking that noggin straight off.
- 53:06This is one of those things where when we first watched it,
- 53:10I thought, this is a flashback. We're getting an art origin.
- 53:14Yeah, I didn't realize that we were getting a time jump to
- 53:18catch us up to 2020. Four, Well, not only that, but
- 53:21it's just weird to wrap your head around.
- 53:23Five years ago was the timeline in the movie that released in
- 53:262022? Yes, which was only two years
- 53:29ago for us. So like, it was a lot of going
- 53:31on. I'm like, wait, this doesn't
- 53:33make. So is this what happened?
- 53:34Like, he's like, does he just take over people's bodies?
- 53:37Oh, no, this is just the ending of two.
- 53:39Yeah. So yeah, he rips off his head
- 53:42and then he takes it upon himself to go and.
- 53:46He goes on the subway, he's holding the cops head on his
- 53:48body the whole time and as a woman's just like staring at
- 53:51him. And I think it's a really funny
- 53:53scene. This is another one of the
- 53:54things I forgot to mention from my absurd.
- 53:56But like, art is just like, a patron of public transportation.
- 54:00Yeah, and it's just so casual about it, this fucking bizarre
- 54:04demon man. Listen, I wouldn't be surprised
- 54:07if in his human life, though, he may have been a serial killer if
- 54:12he wasn't a diligent taxpayer and didn't want to take
- 54:14advantage of the public transit system that he helped fund.
- 54:18Yeah, You know, I don't knock it.
- 54:20It's just. Maybe Tax Day is one of the
- 54:22holidays that Art the Clown celebrates.
- 54:24Could be I just feel bad for all the other patrons.
- 54:27It's got to be terrible. Well, he mostly seems to ride it
- 54:30late at night when you just know you're going to run into some
- 54:33characters anyway. That's true.
- 54:35That's a good point. So we cut to the Miles County
- 54:40Psychiatric Prison and we see that nurse from the end of the
- 54:46last one being eaten by Vicki and Arts Head.
- 54:49Chris Jericho, he gets a call about or he hears like some
- 54:53screaming going down the hall, so he goes to investigate, opens
- 54:56up the door. And then he responds and he sees
- 54:58her and Vicki's like, please, he's making me do this.
- 55:01And then she, like, starts cackling.
- 55:03So we know. I almost felt believable there
- 55:05too, for a second, and like maybe that was her last little
- 55:07bit of humanity right there before she got possessed.
- 55:10He looks down the hall. He sees his headless art just
- 55:12waving at him. No, no Vicky pins.
- 55:14Him up against the wall? Yeah.
- 55:15Pins him against the wall. Art smooshes in his head.
- 55:18And then we cut to Vicky and Art on the bus or subway again, and
- 55:25I don't know if he caught those, but Art's head is duct tape to
- 55:29his body. No, I didn't notice.
- 55:31That I don't know how it. It actually like sews itself
- 55:35back together, but it's duct taped in that scene.
- 55:38Maybe that's what the hibernation process is for here.
- 55:40The five, you need five years for it to be attached.
- 55:43You know the thing that I cuz I was looking at his head here.
- 55:46I'm like, oh, OK, so this is his head without the little flap,
- 55:50like the little head cover that he always wears.
- 55:53His ears are gross. He looks like a synabite.
- 55:56Honestly, he looks like he belongs in the Hellraiser
- 55:59universe. I could see that.
- 56:00I read somewhere that supposedly Damian Leon has, like, been
- 56:05making the mask, like, sharper and sharper, like on the
- 56:10cheekbones and chins to make him look more and more gaunt as the
- 56:13movie goes on. As the movies go on, yeah.
- 56:16Interesting. I hadn't.
- 56:17Noticed which if you pay attention to the differences
- 56:19between like the first one and now, you can definitely see it.
- 56:23Yeah, interesting. I didn't know if that was like,
- 56:25stylistic choice or if that. I guess it's so intentional.
- 56:28That's cool. Yeah.
- 56:29But yeah, he just looks weird. And then we get a dude that is
- 56:32dressed as the Miles County clown getting on the subway.
- 56:35I'm guessing it's still Halloween.
- 56:37It's still the night from Terrified, too.
- 56:39And he compliments Art and Vicky on their costumes.
- 56:43And they just kind of like stare at each other and just.
- 56:45Like, and I like how this is taking place on the same night
- 56:48when you know, Jana had said, Jonathan, don't do that.
- 56:53That's incredibly disrespectful because those murders just
- 56:55occurred a year ago. Yeah.
- 56:57So I think that's funny. They go to this like abandoned
- 57:01house and art's in a new costume and Vicki's got the cosplayer's
- 57:06horn so it's very much presumed that they killed him and took
- 57:09his costume in horn. I didn't catch that.
- 57:13That makes sense. Yeah, she's like getting on his
- 57:16nerves. I like that.
- 57:18I like that there's somebody too much for Art, even where he
- 57:21like, hand waves her away. He spent the whole last movie
- 57:24with a little pale girl and didn't have any issues but Vicki
- 57:29too much for him. But Vicki goes to the bathroom
- 57:32and she is kind of upset about basically the loss of her life
- 57:40as she knew it. Smashes her face and the wall,
- 57:42climbs into the tub and takes the mirror Shard and cuts her
- 57:47wrist. That would be very confusing for
- 57:48Talia, cuz she's just repeating pretty girl, pretty girl, pretty
- 57:51girl. She's bashing her face.
- 57:52That's what we call Italia. Yeah.
- 57:54So yeah, Talia's got feelings about this movie.
- 57:59And then Art does Billy and just sits in the chair.
- 58:04Big I clocked this the first time we want to this is such a
- 58:07black Christmas reference. Big old rocking chair in the
- 58:09attic right at the window. I love that he just goes there,
- 58:13sits down and he just freezes. So now.
- 58:17Present Day Present day, we're at Sunny Valley.
- 58:19It's an inpatient facility and Uncle Greg is there to pick up
- 58:23Sienna on the way home. He tells her that her cousin
- 58:26Gabby is very excited to see her, has missed her a lot.
- 58:30She's all she talks about and is very artistic like her, which we
- 58:35get some glimpses of that, so I think that's cool.
- 58:37Yeah, so they make it there to the house and Gabby is like our
- 58:43nieces and nephews whenever we get into the house.
- 58:45And it's me like, hey, let me go show you this.
- 58:46Let's go do this, this, this, this, and here's.
- 58:49The itinerary of everything we need to do, and we need to do it
- 58:51all at the same time. Yeah.
- 58:52And then the parents are like, hold on, Gabby, let her get
- 58:55established, you know, maybe settle in and then we can maybe
- 58:58do things. But then they immediately go
- 59:00upstairs and she shows Sienna the room that they're going to
- 59:04let her stay in and she is decorated for Sienna.
- 59:06Yeah. Which is really.
- 59:08Sweet. Yeah, that is really sweet.
- 59:09She's like, I know you like drag Dragons and Wizards and stuff.
- 59:12That'll be like nerd shit, so here's some.
- 59:14Nerd stuff up on the wall. For you.
- 59:17So now we're back at Art's house.
- 59:19This is Art's house, right? Yes, and we get some Texas
- 59:23Chainsaw Massacre esque music and this, you know the little
- 59:26stings that they do. Yeah, they we get this a lot
- 59:30throughout the movie, but I noticed it heavily here.
- 59:33Yeah, I could. OK, that's cool.
- 59:34Good catch. So we get some demolition
- 59:37workers that are going to go. I call them the demo duo.
- 59:40The demo duo there we go and they are about to tear down this
- 59:43house obviously and they are splitting up but before they do
- 59:48so, the. Dennis is scared.
- 59:50Yeah. And Jackson's like, tell me you
- 59:52don't believe those stories. And he's like, what stories?
- 59:54He's like, well, supposedly in the 90s there was this killer
- 59:58who liked to abduct and kill children, and he buried the
- 1:00:00bodies in this basement. Yeah, brought them to the house
- 1:00:03to kill them there. And the guy's like, oh, you're
- 1:00:07fucking with me, right? He's like, of course I'm fucking
- 1:00:09with you. But I wonder, that's gotta be
- 1:00:12real, right? Yeah, I think this was actually
- 1:00:14Art's house when he was like a serial killing clown.
- 1:00:16Yeah, that's what dude, that makes this so much darker.
- 1:00:19Like, not cuz, but beforehand we didn't know.
- 1:00:23Yeah. We just thought maybe it was
- 1:00:24like a manifestation that just kind of came up as a demon.
- 1:00:27No, his SO some of this is explained in this movie a little
- 1:00:32bit better than in past movies, but in past movies you had to
- 1:00:35have like paid attention to the director's commentary and
- 1:00:39whatnot. So it he's a demon that
- 1:00:42possessed art when he died at the end of the first terror fire
- 1:00:46movie and that's why he came back to life in the Mortuary
- 1:00:49cause the demon possessed him. Oh, that's not explained at all
- 1:00:54in any of the movies. No, no, no, Jonathan kind of
- 1:00:57like they give Jonathan some like demonology letters that he
- 1:01:00writes to Sienna and they give a little bit of lip service to in
- 1:01:03the movie. But that's kind of why I think
- 1:01:05because a lot of people are like, I don't understand this
- 1:01:07lore at all. And so they're like, this is
- 1:01:08what happened, people. Can you imagine?
- 1:01:10Dude? He has really no grasp.
- 1:01:12This right here. I mean, the demon took him over
- 1:01:14the demon like, OK Damian. But yeah, so he was like just a
- 1:01:21real man through the events of the first terror fire.
- 1:01:24OK, interesting. And Sienna also is now
- 1:01:27supernatural after dying in the end of Terror Fire too.
- 1:01:31I know that she's supernatural now, but I wasn't sure that she
- 1:01:35like actually died and resurrected.
- 1:01:36Too. Yes, the Clown Cafe was supposed
- 1:01:39to be her test from the Fort, from the forces of From Beyond
- 1:01:42that chose her to be arts like rival.
- 1:01:46I love the war here but I feel. Like he's not explained.
- 1:01:50He's got to do a better job of doing this shit on screen.
- 1:01:53Yeah, it's very much in his head.
- 1:01:55He needs, he needs like somebody to help edit his script and then
- 1:01:59edit the movie to be like, we need somebody that's not in your
- 1:02:02head, Damien, to make sure that this is like.
- 1:02:04Again, they're like, understand Damien?
- 1:02:06So why this, like the demon dude, do you not get at this
- 1:02:09page right here? He dubbed the thing like, yeah,
- 1:02:12okay, yeah, in this head it makes perfect sense, I'm sure.
- 1:02:17So CNN Gabby are unpacking and CNN sees a picture of her and
- 1:02:22her dad when she was a lot younger.
- 1:02:24That's the whole thing with her dad is so weird.
- 1:02:26Too. Yeah, we get a flashback to the
- 1:02:28dad showing illustrations. I guess he's like a comic book
- 1:02:31illustrator. Seems that way he's got posters
- 1:02:33of what I'm assuming are his works.
- 1:02:35Yeah, Blaster man especially. Blaster Man Yeah, what a lame
- 1:02:39generic ass superhero blaster. Man, that is definitely like AD
- 1:02:43level superhero. Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 1:02:46Yeah. So he's showing her the latest
- 1:02:49drawings and she's upset. She was like you said, you were
- 1:02:51going to draw a girl character. And he goes, well, I got plenty
- 1:02:53of girl characters and she's like, I met a girl superhero.
- 1:02:57Women being like killed. And I got it right here.
- 1:03:00She's being abducted. She's not doing it, you know?
- 1:03:02She's like dying, but you know. That's Damian Leon being like,
- 1:03:06listen guys, I write female characters.
- 1:03:09I feel like this is like a meta commentary on his own
- 1:03:13progression writing women. Character he gives people,
- 1:03:16people that complain about the whole at the crack of dawn scene
- 1:03:19like the male version of that waiter in this movie.
- 1:03:24So yeah. And then he's like, you know
- 1:03:26what? OK, fine.
- 1:03:26I promise I'll make you a girl superhero.
- 1:03:29It will happen once I finish this project.
- 1:03:32Gabby is reading Sienna's Ari and Sienna takes it back and
- 1:03:36she's like, this is just where I like write down my thoughts and
- 1:03:38they are private. So we cut back to the demo duo.
- 1:03:42Dennis finds art in the attic and at first he thinks maybe
- 1:03:45it's fake and then he's thinking maybe it's not and he calls for
- 1:03:48Jackson. But Jackson has just found Vicki
- 1:03:50in the tub, and she is not as rotten.
- 1:03:57As she should be. Should be more rotten.
- 1:03:59Yeah, I like, I like Art's face here the way that it's frozen.
- 1:04:05I wonder like, I mean, they had to, but like, he did a great job
- 1:04:10keeping still. Yes, because I was looking.
- 1:04:13I was like, is he, is there any movement here?
- 1:04:16But he was frozen solid. And they showed him sitting in
- 1:04:19the chair and being, yeah, with the cobwebs.
- 1:04:21So we know it was him. Yeah, yeah, it was super
- 1:04:23impressive. And then I like the thing with
- 1:04:25Vicki. You can tell that she's alive
- 1:04:26because before when she walked into the bathroom, the lights
- 1:04:29kind of glow whenever she gets there.
- 1:04:31And then right here, like the lights start going again with
- 1:04:33the guy right there. Yeah, so this is supposed to be
- 1:04:35the the entity that was the little pale girl in the last
- 1:04:39movie. The entity has now moved into
- 1:04:40Vicki since she recently passed. It took her over when that
- 1:04:44happened. Yes, OK, I figured that much.
- 1:04:47Else yeah, so she stabs Jackson as he is like trying to bend
- 1:04:52down and check on her and then goes and joins Art as he is
- 1:04:57throwing Dennis and then biting his fingers off and ripping his
- 1:05:01face apart. And she does what has now been
- 1:05:06the glasturbation scene. This I have a Co worker who big
- 1:05:12fan of these movies. He brought I think his sister to
- 1:05:15this and this scene happened where she masturbates with a
- 1:05:19Shard of glass as this is happening and his sister's like
- 1:05:22I gotta go to the bathroom and she went to the bathroom and
- 1:05:25never came back. So yeah.
- 1:05:29However, I'm also going to say that I think this might be kind
- 1:05:32of a loose homage to The Exorcist where she is stabbing
- 1:05:37the crucifix. Yeah, I could see that.
- 1:05:40So. It's a gnarly scene, Yeah.
- 1:05:43Even art is like whoa. Art's like.
- 1:05:46Whoa, He did the thing you pointed out to me.
- 1:05:48He does. A shame.
- 1:05:48Yeah, yeah. You were like, what is that
- 1:05:50hand? Sign me, you know.
- 1:05:52Yeah, he's just like brushing his finger and was like, was
- 1:05:54this? That was the thing we did to
- 1:05:55everybody in middle school. Really.
- 1:05:57Shame. Shame.
- 1:05:57I don't remember that. I liked it.
- 1:05:58It's a nice little flare. Oh yeah.
- 1:06:00It's like, shame on you. But it was like a cheeky like
- 1:06:04you. Little rasp.
- 1:06:05Yeah, yeah, I they put so much care, like he has so much
- 1:06:10character to him in this, and I think it's fun.
- 1:06:13It's nice having Vicki like so he has a talking sidekick.
- 1:06:17Yeah. And I think it was necessary
- 1:06:19after 2 movies and not having a lot of shit explained, to have
- 1:06:22somebody be like, all right, we're going to give a little
- 1:06:23narration. Yeah, it helps to have somebody
- 1:06:25vocal at least. And plus, I read somewhere that
- 1:06:29Damian Leon was kind of upset he didn't get to really develop
- 1:06:34Victoria very much, so instead of killing her off like he'd
- 1:06:39originally planned, he decided to make her a part of this.
- 1:06:43Movie. It makes sense, really.
- 1:06:45I like. I like the way it's all tied
- 1:06:46together here. Yeah, so.
- 1:06:49So now it's dinner time at the family house.
- 1:06:52Sienna is they're eating Chinese food.
- 1:06:56And then she's starting to get visions of Brooke.
- 1:06:58Brooke, who is all bloody. Yeah, And her chest is broken
- 1:07:03open, like it was very much when she was murdered.
- 1:07:06And she's saying pass the rice, pass the rice.
- 1:07:08She's like, come on, I'm dead because of you.
- 1:07:10We're all dead because of you. Your mom's dead because of you.
- 1:07:12The least you could do is. Pass the rice.
- 1:07:15And Sienna is like, just trying to be very calm and collected.
- 1:07:18And at one point she kind of Mumbles and they're like, what?
- 1:07:21And she's like, excuse me, please, and runs off to the
- 1:07:24bathroom. So we come over to Jonathan who
- 1:07:28is now in college, and he walks in on his roommate making out
- 1:07:32with the girl. This is Cole and Mia, and I'm
- 1:07:36saying these names now because Travis won't ever say these
- 1:07:39names. He couldn't remember these names
- 1:07:40and he's referred to Cole as the boyfriend multiple times.
- 1:07:43I have said Mia every time this yes episode.
- 1:07:48I keep forgetting Cole though, I'll give you that.
- 1:07:51So they she starts nurting out on Jonathan because she
- 1:07:55recognizes that hey, it's the fucking kid from the clown
- 1:07:59thing. So do.
- 1:08:00You think do you think she started dating Cole just to get
- 1:08:04close? I was just thinking that before
- 1:08:06you even said that It's this woman is like calculated with
- 1:08:10all of her shit. Can I just say though, like her
- 1:08:13weird obsession with Jonathan and how uncomfortable it makes
- 1:08:16him, I wonder if he ever thinks back to Sienna talking about how
- 1:08:21disrespectful it is to the families of the victims to dress
- 1:08:24up as the killer. I wonder if he hears that
- 1:08:27conversation in his head all the time.
- 1:08:28I just God damn she's right. I just imagine he just says to
- 1:08:32himself, I deserve this. That's why he's like, maybe,
- 1:08:37maybe I'll do your fucking podcast.
- 1:08:38Yeah, He's like, he plays it cool.
- 1:08:40He's like, yes, you know, like. Yeah, OK.
- 1:08:42And listen, they say that actually see that because in
- 1:08:45this thing, he's like, dude, Mia, like, leave him alone.
- 1:08:48He doesn't want to talk about that.
- 1:08:50That shit was fucked up. He's just being playful with
- 1:08:52Cole. He's like, yeah.
- 1:08:53You treat me like shit, you know, big buddy type behavior
- 1:08:57right there. But no, they're they're
- 1:08:58definitely tight. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:00It seems like he's looking after Jonathan.
- 1:09:02Yeah. Sienna calls him.
- 1:09:05And she's just, like, I miss you.
- 1:09:07Yeah. She's like, yeah.
- 1:09:08Are you going to come over to like, hang out?
- 1:09:10Like early for the, for Christmas, for Christmas.
- 1:09:13He's like, Oh no, I'm actually invited to a party tonight.
- 1:09:15I got to go do that instead. And she's like, Oh my God,
- 1:09:17you're actually getting invited to parties?
- 1:09:18Holy shit. OK, go do that, please.
- 1:09:21Gabby comes and checks in on her.
- 1:09:23And Sienna just, you know, she's just like, oh, you know, I'm
- 1:09:26just on these new meds and they made me queasy, so I had to
- 1:09:29excuse myself. Which is, I mean, it's a.
- 1:09:34Lie, but it's an H friendly lie instead of being like I'm having
- 1:09:37traumatic hallucinations with my dead friend that got murdered in
- 1:09:40front of me. Yeah, I mean, you pick your time
- 1:09:42to. Divulge that information.
- 1:09:44Not the time right now. So we see Art, he's at his house
- 1:09:48and he is working on new tools to do some killing with, this
- 1:09:52time specifically liquid nitrogen, which he tests.
- 1:09:55On a rat and I'm just calling it Jason X Yeah, I felt bad for
- 1:10:01the. Pack of rats that he tosses the
- 1:10:04carcass to. That was cruel.
- 1:10:06Yeah, I kind of felt bad for Vicky too, because she.
- 1:10:09Made friends with the rats. She liked her, but she she
- 1:10:11didn't care. She she could have stopped him,
- 1:10:14but she didn't. So we now see Santa's at a bar
- 1:10:19and Santa is drinking. He's getting all of the ladies
- 1:10:23and that is getting all of the Quinn Howard's in the house.
- 1:10:26Really, really jealous. He's like having a running
- 1:10:30commentary. On what is happening as this is
- 1:10:33going God like talking about how he wishes he had pretty lady
- 1:10:36sitting on his lap and he's just I listen I understand your
- 1:10:41complaints with Clint Howard's death in this, but he was
- 1:10:44cracking me up the whole time because literally everything
- 1:10:46somebody said he agreed with even if it was a direct
- 1:10:49contradiction to his last statement.
- 1:10:51I don't I don't have a problem. I think it's in the scene at
- 1:10:53all. I.
- 1:10:53Love him in the scene I. Just I do have.
- 1:10:55A problem with how the death was handled.
- 1:10:57But yeah, so he's funny. Art's walking through and he
- 1:11:01sees in the window. Santa and he I don't know what
- 1:11:06percentage of. Our.
- 1:11:07Audience overlaps with the audience for ELF, but it's very
- 1:11:11much your buddy seeing hearing that Santa is going to be at the
- 1:11:15department store. Yeah, that's his reaction, the
- 1:11:17MIME version of that he runs in as.
- 1:11:20The women are leaving and. He's like knocks that get out of
- 1:11:24the way, ladies. I got to see Santa Claus.
- 1:11:27And I like that the Bart Turner's like, all right, we're
- 1:11:29getting. Rid of this freak.
- 1:11:30And I like that this guy takes his Santa work very seriously.
- 1:11:34He's like, I'm in the suit. If the guy wants the Santa
- 1:11:37experience, he gets the same experience.
- 1:11:40It's like Elvis. I got to do it to everybody.
- 1:11:42Everybody gets the real deal, so he invites them over.
- 1:11:45Art is like fanboying out and he's like pointing at the Santa.
- 1:11:47He's like, yeah, yeah, it's me, I'm Santa.
- 1:11:50So he says he he's going to buy him a drink.
- 1:11:54Speaking of drinks, we got to Sienna and.
- 1:11:56Jess and they're. Drinking some cocoa together.
- 1:12:00Sienna has just had like a fun little makeup sesh with Gabby,
- 1:12:03so having a little bit of fun together.
- 1:12:05And then she has adult time with her mom's sister and they talk
- 1:12:09about Barb. They reminisce.
- 1:12:11They say she was a good person. She was so easy to talk to.
- 1:12:14Swore like a truck driver one time.
- 1:12:17Called one of the sisters at their school a cunt.
- 1:12:20Yeah, stressed out mom of sorts. Yeah.
- 1:12:25Yep. And just, you know, Santa just
- 1:12:29says it feels good to be somewhere on Christmas and feel
- 1:12:32kind of normal right now. Yeah.
- 1:12:34And it's kind of heartbreaking hearing her say it like that.
- 1:12:37Yeah. That's sad.
- 1:12:38So we. Come back over to the bar and
- 1:12:41Santa's ordered shots for everybody, the bartender
- 1:12:44demands. ID Yeah.
- 1:12:47And they're like, seriously. And he goes, I'm not losing my
- 1:12:49license over this clown. So he takes out Maurice
- 1:12:52Jackson's wallet. I love how he's just like, he's
- 1:12:55like. Rolling his eyes, like, OK,
- 1:12:57fine, if I must, he just throws a whole wallet down, like, all
- 1:13:00right, Maurice. So they do their shots.
- 1:13:06And This is why I pointed out it's.
- 1:13:08Not like an. Evil entity thing that he can't
- 1:13:10eat human food or drink. It's that he's probably never
- 1:13:14drank alcohol, yes. So he.
- 1:13:16Spits it in. Santa's face.
- 1:13:18Clint Howard initially laughs. Then the bartender and Santa are
- 1:13:22both mad. And then he goes, yeah, man, a
- 1:13:25guy buys you a drink and he spit it in space.
- 1:13:27Yeah, it's it's a little rude. And not only that.
- 1:13:30He. Then looks and he just like
- 1:13:31gives Santa this big smile and he starts peeing on his lap.
- 1:13:35That reminds me of one time Natalie was a puppy.
- 1:13:38I had the day off from work and I was like, I'll probably do
- 1:13:40laundry later today. This is when we lived in an
- 1:13:43apartment complex. We had to take our laundry to a
- 1:13:46laundry room across the apartment complex, which meant
- 1:13:49putting it all up in the car, driving, you know, it was a
- 1:13:52whole thing. And I was like, but I'll worry
- 1:13:55about that later this afternoon. And.
- 1:13:57Taya jumps up on the bed and she looks at me and then peed on my
- 1:14:00pillow, wagging her little. Dumb tail the entire.
- 1:14:05Time. Probably with the same smile.
- 1:14:07Yep. So they freak.
- 1:14:09Out and they. Toss them over.
- 1:14:11There, and they're in the verge of getting them kicked out.
- 1:14:13Listen, why are people in this movie so bad?
- 1:14:16At throwing art out of places, because this is the same move
- 1:14:20the security guard uses at the mall.
- 1:14:22They like you're out of here pal, but they just shove him
- 1:14:25slightly in a different direction within the building.
- 1:14:28Generally with people you don't have to actually.
- 1:14:30Pick them up and throw them out of the building.
- 1:14:32They usually take the hint, but Art is a whole other beast.
- 1:14:36So he goes over there by the fireplace and he starts digging
- 1:14:39in his bag, which gets the bartender pissed off.
- 1:14:41So he goes over there to try and actually do that, kick him out
- 1:14:44even further, but has a gun. And then he shoots him right in
- 1:14:47the head. Yeah.
- 1:14:49And then Quinn Howard also gets shot in the head.
- 1:14:51Smokey, we found out, is his nickname Smokey?
- 1:14:54Yeah. So he's dead and then?
- 1:14:56He goes over to Santa, holds him up and Santa's like you up.
- 1:15:00He's like we're in the same. Business, right?
- 1:15:02Like we make people smile. You're a clown.
- 1:15:05I think you're fucking funny. He keeps calling him Clowny the
- 1:15:09entire. Time.
- 1:15:10And in the most sincere way, it's like, all right.
- 1:15:12Clowny, please, you don't. Have to do this, Clowny.
- 1:15:14Come on, man. It's Maurice.
- 1:15:16Yeah. You already know his name.
- 1:15:18Yeah. So yeah, he.
- 1:15:21Just robes him and ties him. Up and then he tortures him with
- 1:15:24his liquid nitrogen sprayer and holy shit these are brutal.
- 1:15:28He gets his. Arm and then he gets his shin.
- 1:15:31I think this is worse than a chainsaw.
- 1:15:33He Yeah, this is pretty. Fucking bad, yeah.
- 1:15:35And then he takes. The hammer and he just bashes
- 1:15:37them and then it's just like, oh, everything is just like
- 1:15:40busting open and then he sprays his face and he rips his.
- 1:15:44Beard off because the Santa told him not a real Santa without a
- 1:15:48beard cuz he was talking to his beard before and he's.
- 1:15:51Like that's attached, man, yeah. So we cut to Greg and dress
- 1:15:56sitting in bed, and Greg says that he thinks Sophie really
- 1:15:58brought some life back to CNN. You know, she seems kind of
- 1:16:02happy for the first time in a while.
- 1:16:04Sophie. You mean Gabby?
- 1:16:08Who's Sophie? That's what Gabby.
- 1:16:12Looks like in my. Notes Yeah.
- 1:16:13Gabby. Yeah.
- 1:16:15So he he says that Gabby. They like really connected.
- 1:16:19It made both of them happy to be around each other the entire
- 1:16:22time. But then he's also like, but we
- 1:16:24gotta keep an eye out on her, you know, you never know.
- 1:16:26She, she's something like about her, just a little bit unhinged.
- 1:16:29Still, he's very worried. Like it's not the unhinged.
- 1:16:32But he's like, you know, what if this episode at dinner is just
- 1:16:37indicative of some other stuff brewing still, like you just
- 1:16:40need to keep an eye on her. And then Jess is like, well,
- 1:16:41they're going shopping tomorrow and he's like alone.
- 1:16:44Yep, Yep. Really.
- 1:16:46So she. Agrees.
- 1:16:47She's like, OK. We'll keep an eye on.
- 1:16:48Her in the diary. Santa is writing.
- 1:16:52She says it's her first time here in two years, so it's been
- 1:16:54about two years since she's been at Aunt Jess's and she reads
- 1:17:00through some of. The old letters.
- 1:17:01From Jonathan, this is terrible. This is how.
- 1:17:04And they're like, oh. Jonathan figured everything out.
- 1:17:07This is the exposition that we needed for the movie.
- 1:17:10Look, I love this movie, but this is just bad if this is how
- 1:17:12you're telling the story, Jonathan.
- 1:17:14Jonathan becomes a fucking demiologist or something.
- 1:17:17Demonologist I just. I'm just.
- 1:17:21When you study the Demi. Weenies.
- 1:17:23But for real, it's just. Bad.
- 1:17:25That's bad writing. I'm sorry but I I hate this.
- 1:17:29I How the fuck does he know they had to get the story out there
- 1:17:32somehow? So you know it's an improvement.
- 1:17:34Besides, read Damian Leone's mind.
- 1:17:37Have a third party. I'm not buying Jonathan being.
- 1:17:40This fucking demon expert suddenly, Yeah, it doesn't make
- 1:17:43any sense. So it kind of tracks from his
- 1:17:46character. Cuz he like studied serial
- 1:17:48killers and Nazis in the second movie so.
- 1:17:52So naturally he goes to demons, I mean.
- 1:17:56I mean, they're both. Terrible.
- 1:17:57Slippery a slope? They're, you know.
- 1:18:00You're right about there. Yeah.
- 1:18:02It's just all I, I. I don't care for that.
- 1:18:05So at the mall, Gabby. Tells.
- 1:18:08Sienna, that Jonathan's no longer into the black or death
- 1:18:11metal. And then it was probably just a
- 1:18:12phase, not a phase. And then the Muzak, I loved this
- 1:18:18moment in a theater because the Muzak turns into the Clown Cafe
- 1:18:21song. And at first I was like, why
- 1:18:23does this song sound familiar? And I was trying to place it
- 1:18:25before the lyrics started coming in.
- 1:18:28And you're like, oh, so I thought that was really slick.
- 1:18:30Really. Well, that's cool.
- 1:18:32I like before that we got a clip.
- 1:18:34Of the mall Santa doing his mall duty work.
- 1:18:36And then we get the alpha there. I complain by saying yeah, it's
- 1:18:39better than Louisville. Suck it, Louisville.
- 1:18:42That's right, Lexington. Wins.
- 1:18:45And they did say Louisville correctly.
- 1:18:46No they didn't, they said. Louisville.
- 1:18:48They didn't say Louisville. They they it was like a.
- 1:18:50Mishmash of the two they. Tried.
- 1:18:52They tried to do it accurately, but they they've still failed.
- 1:18:55They made an attempt at it, which is better than Louisville.
- 1:18:57Yeah, that's fair. Either way.
- 1:18:59So I get. Louisville, so she.
- 1:19:02Sees a a. Santa walk by and he's wearing a
- 1:19:06mask, kind of looks at her. They make eye contact and he
- 1:19:10waves. And then Gabby approaches and is
- 1:19:12like, are you OK? And she's like, yeah, yeah,
- 1:19:15let's go. Yeah.
- 1:19:17And you can definitely tell it's art.
- 1:19:18Because got some blood on him and also got the hand gloves.
- 1:19:23Yep, Yep. So we cut to Jonathan.
- 1:19:25He's. Like school cafeteria I guess.
- 1:19:29And he is watching Graven image that is Mia's podcast.
- 1:19:34The Co host believes Sienna is guilty and did it all and that
- 1:19:37the only reason she isn't in jail is because Jonathan
- 1:19:39testified on her behalf. So fucking trashy.
- 1:19:42I hate these people and. Mia's defending.
- 1:19:44She's like, there's so many holes in the story.
- 1:19:46That you're you've come up with. But Sienna calls and interrupts
- 1:19:50so we don't get to hear the rest of Mia's argument, so they meet
- 1:19:55up. Sienna asked Jonathan if he will
- 1:19:59stay with them but again he's like I gotta go to the party.
- 1:20:02So Cole and Mia pop up and then Cole was instantly like God
- 1:20:06sorry well let me go man. But then Mia is like no, no, no,
- 1:20:09let me sit here and insert myself, Cole.
- 1:20:12At first didn't think. About it in terms of Mia,
- 1:20:15because at first he's just like, here's my friend Jonathan.
- 1:20:18Oh, this is your sister. Here's a totally normal thing
- 1:20:21people do where they meet their roommates, family.
- 1:20:23And he was like, hi, I take care of him.
- 1:20:25Like, he's my own little brother.
- 1:20:26And Jonathan's like, you treat me like shit.
- 1:20:28He's like, yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 1:20:30And having fun and it's a good time.
- 1:20:32And then Mia comes over and ruins everything.
- 1:20:37God, she's so insufferable. I fucking hate.
- 1:20:40Her as a character for all the reasons they write her as a
- 1:20:44hateable person, yes, and also she doesn't know the five.
- 1:20:47Year anniversary because we are five years later and we're a
- 1:20:50couple months past Halloween, so it is past the five year
- 1:20:54anniversary. She's asking for all of this
- 1:20:57going on and on and on, just rambling, has barely even said
- 1:21:00hello to CNR. Let Sienna get a word in
- 1:21:03edgewise. And then she was like, you know,
- 1:21:04just so many people know how you're coping.
- 1:21:06And she's like, OK, well, I've been in and out of psychiatric
- 1:21:08facilities for the past five years.
- 1:21:09I'm covered in hideous scars. I see hallucinations of my dead
- 1:21:12friend, family and friends. And on the nights I do actually
- 1:21:14sleep, I'm having nightmares of everything that happened.
- 1:21:17And you leeches are all the same.
- 1:21:20I you know, the way that she. Delivers.
- 1:21:23This I get a hint of Barb like they're like slamming your hands
- 1:21:27down on the table. Like I get like.
- 1:21:28She got that from. Her mom right there.
- 1:21:30Yeah. You know what?
- 1:21:31This is where you want the Barb spirit though.
- 1:21:33Yeah, for sure, Yeah, Barb was stressed out when?
- 1:21:36It was appropriate to be stressed.
- 1:21:37Out Sienna is she has kept calm around her family who just wants
- 1:21:41to support her this and then this person who wants to exploit
- 1:21:45her she's like fuck you this right here she.
- 1:21:49Took all of the. What the fuck?
- 1:21:51Jonathan's and bottled him into this moment and pointed at Mia.
- 1:21:55She took every instance of Barb. Going.
- 1:21:58Sienna. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:22:03It was perfect. So yeah, that kind of, you know,
- 1:22:05shuts everybody up right there. And then she takes Jonathan or
- 1:22:09she storms out Jonathan Fox, like, hey, what the fuck was
- 1:22:11that about? And she's like, hey, I saw him.
- 1:22:13He's at the mall, pretty sure it was him.
- 1:22:17So you should definitely come and be with us for the rest of
- 1:22:20this time. And he says that we need to move
- 1:22:22on. And she's like, oh.
- 1:22:23Big Mr. Academic now and he's like, at least I'm trying.
- 1:22:27And that kind of like snaps her. She's like, you think you're too
- 1:22:30fucking good for me, and then she's like.
- 1:22:31Oh, actually that was really shitty for me to do.
- 1:22:34But then she starts talking about the letters that he'd.
- 1:22:36Originally written when he was back into the demonology stuff
- 1:22:39and then he was like, well, if you really think this, then you
- 1:22:43need the sword. So she's got a they all right
- 1:22:48Say here, Vic. Is the host of the demon they
- 1:22:51all right say right here yes, and that you know she was.
- 1:22:56Basically, the summary that they give is that demonology and
- 1:22:59possession. A demon possesses a recently
- 1:23:02passed spirit of somebody who's evil, somebody like a mass
- 1:23:05serial killer, a mass murderer. Sienna was chosen as kind of a
- 1:23:08counterpoint to that demon, and their dad was pushed to create
- 1:23:13the weapon that would be used against him.
- 1:23:16The demon, Well, they had all that figured out early.
- 1:23:20If it was back when she was a child, well, they didn't have it
- 1:23:25figured out. When she was a child, it was
- 1:23:26just the whatever the forces that were knew the demon was
- 1:23:29coming or whatever. It's not that Jonathan knew that
- 1:23:33back. Then no.
- 1:23:34No, I'm saying like the angels like.
- 1:23:36Sienna was tested as an adult to do that, but they're like, oh,
- 1:23:39but we're already going to set you up for it here, I guess.
- 1:23:43So there's an alley oop right there.
- 1:23:45They ooped her. We cut back to the mall Santa
- 1:23:48area. Except the mall Santa has gone
- 1:23:50on break. Bill.
- 1:23:51Bill is his name and Art comes out and he wants his moment in
- 1:23:56the sun and he like beckons some children in that are like
- 1:24:00waiting patiently in line. They cut through the rope and
- 1:24:03they come up and he's giving toys.
- 1:24:05Some of these toys came from the house in the cold open, like one
- 1:24:11of the. Dolls for sure.
- 1:24:12They, like lingered. On I didn't notice that Yes,
- 1:24:14catch and one of the one of the. Toys.
- 1:24:17Is a stuffed possum and the way he tosses it and a kid is very
- 1:24:21similar to how he tosses it and Jonathan in the second.
- 1:24:23I didn't notice that. That's so cool.
- 1:24:26I love. This whole scene though, this is
- 1:24:28legitimately creepy. Whenever I see him sitting up at
- 1:24:31that like chair and then like motioning for the kids to come
- 1:24:35over, it's fucking creepy. And the parents, once they start
- 1:24:38paying attention, are rightfully.
- 1:24:40Horrified. And yeah, I like how the mom is
- 1:24:43like. What's my?
- 1:24:45Daughter doing over there with that Santa.
- 1:24:47He's creeping my kid out and then he's like, yeah, he's
- 1:24:49creeping me out too. So they get security and
- 1:24:52security again. Shoves him slightly.
- 1:24:56Farther away from. Where he was the more forcefully
- 1:24:59stay out, yeah, and get. And.
- 1:25:02A little boy. Opens his.
- 1:25:03Present which is above. Yep.
- 1:25:08And it goes off and it kills everybody.
- 1:25:10There and here's The thing, is that in the in the?
- 1:25:13Movie In the moment, I knew something bad was going to
- 1:25:16happen. I didn't know what was going to
- 1:25:18happen. That explosion caught me off
- 1:25:20guard completely. I had a feeling I was like, you
- 1:25:23know what this almost seems? Like we're getting set up for
- 1:25:25these to be like exploding toys that they have here.
- 1:25:28I didn't expect it to be one soul bomb in the bag, but yeah,
- 1:25:32it seemed like it was going in that direction.
- 1:25:34So yeah, big old death. This is gonna sound weird, but
- 1:25:38it makes me think of the. End of Mockingjay when the bomb
- 1:25:43is dropped, when the medics are like going to help the kids.
- 1:25:46That's probably what he's referencing.
- 1:25:48In this right here. All the movie references here,
- 1:25:52he's like, I got The Shining, I got Black Christmas.
- 1:25:55Here's the thing though. Hunger Games, Dan Collins wrote
- 1:25:58those as like real life, like political.
- 1:26:00Allegories, basically, and I think it's interesting that
- 1:26:03those movies are PG13 and also depicts children dying by a
- 1:26:06bomb. Yeah, nobody was freaking out
- 1:26:09there. Exactly where?
- 1:26:10Were the Christian moms protesting?
- 1:26:12Mockingjay, I'm sure you get one get one clown dressed as sand
- 1:26:16and. He doesn't.
- 1:26:17Oh my God, we lose our shit. I wouldn't be shocked if The
- 1:26:20Hunger Games. Ends up on a banned book list in
- 1:26:222025. Really.
- 1:26:24Well, OK, let's not talk about that.
- 1:26:25Right now, OK. So.
- 1:26:32I. My next note is Jonathan.
- 1:26:34Tantrums. And that's funny to me because I
- 1:26:37just think of Talia's tantrums where she gets on the couch and
- 1:26:40she's like, knocks off her blanket, knocks, yeah, knocks
- 1:26:42pillows down. She's like, take that.
- 1:26:44That's essentially the energy that Jonathan has when he's
- 1:26:46like. In his room he just like takes
- 1:26:48his blankets and just throws him around and he throws shit around
- 1:26:51his desk and stuff like that, I wrote.
- 1:26:53Jonathan takes meds just. Jonathan take meds, just draw a
- 1:26:56room cry, which makes me think of like all girls do is eat Hot
- 1:27:00Chip and lie. He may have.
- 1:27:04Had Hot Chip also. He may have had Hot Chip.
- 1:27:06Yeah, that's how he got that Spacey.
- 1:27:08Attitude. Yeah.
- 1:27:10So Sienna's back. At the house, you know.
- 1:27:12What though I also? Just got a flash to Tommy wise
- 1:27:14though. Destroying the room at the end
- 1:27:16of the room? Nah, Nah.
- 1:27:22So. Sienna alluded before that she
- 1:27:24was. Gonna go get the sword again
- 1:27:25from the terrifier. She said she had to go and
- 1:27:27retrieve it. And now we see her pull back up
- 1:27:30at the her uncle and aunt's house and she has the sword with
- 1:27:35her, we assume because there's like a present wrapped there.
- 1:27:38Yeah, her, her hands are all dirty.
- 1:27:40Gabby sees that her hands are dirty.
- 1:27:42Well, at first she sees the present.
- 1:27:44She's like, it's it for me. And she goes, no, and don't
- 1:27:45Snoop like you do to other Christmas presents.
- 1:27:48I mean, she kind of hides it behind the tree so that way
- 1:27:50it's, you know, just out of the way full fucking Gabby.
- 1:27:53And then Gabby's like, why are your hands dirty?
- 1:27:55And she? Goes because I.
- 1:27:56Fell in about in front of about 20 college students.
- 1:27:59Is that what you wanted to hear? Which got The only thing worse
- 1:28:03than falling in front of 20 college students would be
- 1:28:05falling in front of 20 high schoolers.
- 1:28:07Yeah, my anxiety is going up. Just thinking about.
- 1:28:10It so now we see art he. Is in a van now.
- 1:28:14And he pulls into a frat party. They don't.
- 1:28:18I was really hoping they were gonna.
- 1:28:19Address this in the behind the scenes because they showed the
- 1:28:22lit up fraternity house letters so many times.
- 1:28:27The Gamma's backwards. It's just fucking backwards.
- 1:28:30I wonder if they did that like intentionally did not.
- 1:28:34Get like suit or anything but all you have to do is throw 3.
- 1:28:37Random Greek letters together and Google it to make sure it's
- 1:28:41not an existing fraternity. That's what every other movie
- 1:28:44does. It's just a letter like.
- 1:28:46You can't like an alphabet can't sue you.
- 1:28:48You just have to make sure it's not an existing like.
- 1:28:51Panhellenic entity. I I'm confused about this, so
- 1:28:56why? Is he going to this place?
- 1:28:57Is he just hitting up random places?
- 1:28:58It seems like that that like the opening is to be kind of like it
- 1:29:02falls in line with this timeline, I think.
- 1:29:05Yeah, I think it's somewhat him just hitting up random.
- 1:29:07Places. And I think there's probably
- 1:29:08also an element of him being drawn to the Shaw family.
- 1:29:12So, like, he knows Jonathan is supposed to be coming to this
- 1:29:15party. Yeah.
- 1:29:17OK. So I guess that's true, yeah.
- 1:29:20So I like that he gets a sack out and he, like, holds the door
- 1:29:24open for the frat for us. They're bringing the keg in.
- 1:29:27And I like how the frat Bros are like, yeah, yeah, so.
- 1:29:32CNN realizes that. Gabby read more of her journal
- 1:29:36because she's like, oh, and you don't like a cereal anymore.
- 1:29:40So, Damien. Damien.
- 1:29:43Damien, I want to ask you about cereal so badly and why you
- 1:29:49struggle so hard to write dialogue about cereal, because I
- 1:29:53think that was my least favorite line of dialogue.
- 1:29:55And Terrifier too, where she's like, can we just not talk about
- 1:29:57cereal? So what's the bad part about the
- 1:29:59dialogue here? She's like, Oh yeah, I forgot,
- 1:30:01you don't like cereal anymore. And then Uncle Greg, who we also
- 1:30:04called John St. him. He's like, what's wrong with
- 1:30:10cereal? Cereal's great cereal's.
- 1:30:11Amazing. Cereal's the best food.
- 1:30:13Like, I'm sorry, I don't have a problem with that cereal.
- 1:30:16Is the best food. He just it's like if you asked.
- 1:30:21AI to write about why Cereal's amazing, that's what you would
- 1:30:25get it's awesome, it's great, it's the.
- 1:30:28Best. It's amazing.
- 1:30:31I am inclined to agree with Greg here.
- 1:30:34He makes a very, very compelling argument here.
- 1:30:37I don't see a problem. But I do think it is funny that
- 1:30:41he's like got this weird vendetta out against cereal.
- 1:30:44He's like, there's people, stay away from cereal.
- 1:30:46Beware of cereal. I got so upset because at
- 1:30:51breakfast. This morning I accidentally
- 1:30:52grabbed a cereal with yogurt bits in it I didn't realize it
- 1:30:55had. Yeah, which that's just gross.
- 1:30:57Anyway. It's just gross.
- 1:30:59Like, yogurt shouldn't be in bits.
- 1:31:01Like, that's not how that should work.
- 1:31:05And also like, cereal should be a safe food.
- 1:31:08It shouldn't be a food that I have to consistently read
- 1:31:10ingredients on. And yet I do, and it's just
- 1:31:13frustrating. And by the time I got upstairs
- 1:31:15and realized that it had yogurt in it, I just, like, gave it to
- 1:31:18somebody else. And I was like, I'm not going
- 1:31:20back down to exchange it. That's almost as embarrassing as
- 1:31:22grabbing the wrong one in the freeze place.
- 1:31:24Yeah, He sold me a cereal with bits and hold.
- 1:31:27On bits of my cereal, I thought. I was grabbing.
- 1:31:30Red berries. I didn't.
- 1:31:31Realize that I was grabbing and yogurt.
- 1:31:35OK, so Sienna takes Gabby. To the side, it's like, OK, So
- 1:31:38what the fuck? I didn't tell anybody that I
- 1:31:40don't like cereal anymore. So how did you know that?
- 1:31:43And she's like, I read your diary.
- 1:31:45She's like, how much of it did you read?
- 1:31:47She's like, all of it. She's like, I just wanted to
- 1:31:51know what happened to you. And Sienna goes.
- 1:31:53Gabby and then like. She can't.
- 1:31:57She's. Mad but.
- 1:31:58Also like she can't make Gabby unread it, you can't make her
- 1:32:02unread it, but still like. Give her like a little harsh
- 1:32:05lesson, like don't Gabby is so fucking nosey, Like I would hate
- 1:32:09to actually be around this kid all the time, getting in my
- 1:32:12fucking business like the but then she you know, she's like,
- 1:32:16listen, this is. Private for me and it's because
- 1:32:18I'm sick and it helps me sort out my thoughts and deal with
- 1:32:21the dreams I have and then I talk about them with people that
- 1:32:25help me sort these things out and give me medicine that assist
- 1:32:28me. Like she has a very good
- 1:32:29explanation for why she does these things.
- 1:32:32Oh, it's all Yeah, I mean it always good.
- 1:32:33But then she's like, oh, so. Like, so it's the clown thing
- 1:32:36real. Did you actually chop a clown's
- 1:32:38head off? Just like, no, I'm sick.
- 1:32:41Kind of like what you were talking about before.
- 1:32:43So Mia is now bitter about the whole CNA confrontation that
- 1:32:47happened before she's complaining about to Cole.
- 1:32:50I do want to say that Cole is also in the middle of trying to
- 1:32:52get. A hold of Jonathan, 'cause he
- 1:32:53hasn't heard from him and he's worried about him, and I think
- 1:32:55that's nice. Again, he's a good guy.
- 1:32:57He's a good roommate. Yeah, so Mia is like still.
- 1:33:00Yeah, like you said, she's still upset and he's.
- 1:33:02Like, well, I mean, and she's like, still, she could have been
- 1:33:05like, at least a little nicer about it.
- 1:33:07And then she's like, can you please talk to Jonathan, please?
- 1:33:09He looks up to you. He'll listen to you.
- 1:33:11And she's like, I'll make it worth your while.
- 1:33:14And he's like, why are you so obsessed about this?
- 1:33:15Anyway, and this is where we. See art like sneaking down the
- 1:33:18hall and she was like, I just think it's it would be so
- 1:33:22fascinating to know like what it's like to look into his eyes.
- 1:33:26That's the last thing you see is you're dying.
- 1:33:28He's like, do you want to like learn about him or do you want
- 1:33:31to fuck him? She goes, no, I don't want to
- 1:33:32fuck him. And he's he like waves his
- 1:33:34hands. He's like, get out of here.
- 1:33:36So. Offended.
- 1:33:37I love that, yeah. So she bribes him.
- 1:33:40With sex to get Jonathan to agree to do the podcast so they
- 1:33:46move towards the shower. Yep, but beforehand there's a.
- 1:33:51News. Report about the mall incident.
- 1:33:54And Greg is really, I think he's like, oh shit, Sienna's gonna
- 1:34:00see this. Well, no, I think at first he's
- 1:34:02just horrified at the news. Oh, yeah.
- 1:34:03And then Sienna freaks out when she hears about it, and she's
- 1:34:06like, it's him, it's him, I know it's him.
- 1:34:07We've got to get Jonathan here. She's like, we need to call
- 1:34:10Jonathan. Call Jonathan.
- 1:34:11And so they start to call him and he's like, yo, Jonathan,
- 1:34:15your sister's freaking out. I'm like, dude, she can hear you
- 1:34:18like, but I mean, it's kind of like he doesn't do it.
- 1:34:21Disrespectfully. He's like, look, she thinks that
- 1:34:23you're in dangerous. She really thinks that you need
- 1:34:25to come over here right now. And then Sienna's like, this
- 1:34:28isn't good enough. She goes over there, snatches
- 1:34:30the phone out. She's like, Jonathan, he did it.
- 1:34:32He killed a bunch of people at the mall.
- 1:34:33You got to get here right now. So he's like, fine, I'll come.
- 1:34:37So Jess gives CNS sedative. To get her to.
- 1:34:39Sleep and tells Greg that he was right and they need to figure
- 1:34:43out what they're going to do. And she talks to Gabby, who is,
- 1:34:46you know, again, like I mentioned at the beginning, she
- 1:34:49was concerned about her having to go back to the hospital.
- 1:34:51And she's like, I don't want her to be gone again.
- 1:34:52And she goes, yeah, but if that's what's going to be best
- 1:34:55for her, that's what we need to do.
- 1:34:58She she really scared Gabby. Before.
- 1:34:59Too, Because she's like. She was freaking out about the
- 1:35:02clown because earlier she's like, yeah, it wasn't a thing
- 1:35:04that happened. Now she's like, no, definitely
- 1:35:05happened. There's a clown.
- 1:35:06I saw the clown earlier today. He's coming.
- 1:35:08He's going to kill us. She's like, we need to leave.
- 1:35:10We need to get out of here. We're.
- 1:35:11Like we're not safe here. Poor kid.
- 1:35:15Yeah, OK, so me and Cole are now in the shower.
- 1:35:18They're fucking and is at the I need to talk about this.
- 1:35:22Go ahead. Art is at the urinal.
- 1:35:24Yeah, he. Is peeing.
- 1:35:26And then he he washes his hands, which surprising for Art, but he
- 1:35:30doesn't take off the gloves, which makes it a little bit more
- 1:35:33believable. Yeah.
- 1:35:35It's it's really having your. Gloves be all wet like that,
- 1:35:39Yeah. I mean, he's probably used to
- 1:35:40them being wet with the blood. And whatnot.
- 1:35:42That's fair. So he then.
- 1:35:45Goes to his back, pulls out a chainsaw, and then he goes over
- 1:35:49there, Revs it up right outside the door and then bursts right
- 1:35:52through the the glass door. This is where we get.
- 1:35:55This is very. Pieces.
- 1:35:57Like I thought of pieces too in the corner, like cowering under.
- 1:36:00The chainsaw? It's shopping.
- 1:36:01Half too. Yeah, same way and.
- 1:36:03He leans down. While she's.
- 1:36:05Still. Alive takes off the glasses,
- 1:36:07looks her in the eye. This is with her face built off
- 1:36:11so. Yeah, she's still alive.
- 1:36:13Her eyes are moving around. Yeah.
- 1:36:14He's like, this is me, this is it, this is where you wanted.
- 1:36:17He takes the glasses. Right onto her face and then he
- 1:36:21cuts her in half and then he goes after Cole and Cole he gets
- 1:36:25a little Chainsaw Massacre moment with his foot being cut
- 1:36:28off or his leg being cut off. He he cut his leg.
- 1:36:32To the point where he tried to run.
- 1:36:34Away took a step, his leg just went sideways completely so he's
- 1:36:37crawling. Then he grabs which is also like
- 1:36:40an H2O moment from the the dumb. Waiter.
- 1:36:43Yeah, that happens with her. Yeah.
- 1:36:46And then he grabs his foot to. Pull him back, but when he pulls
- 1:36:49him back he just pulls the whole foot off instead and he sniffs
- 1:36:53the foot and makes the face like it.
- 1:36:55Stinks, but he was in the shower.
- 1:36:57It doesn't mean it's clean yet. I know, but it.
- 1:36:59Probably doesn't actively smell like.
- 1:37:02Sweat. No, but they weren't.
- 1:37:04This is why people. Always wore flip flops in the
- 1:37:07shower in college. People pee in the shower all the
- 1:37:10fucking time. Just gross.
- 1:37:11That's what it is. That's what you do when you live
- 1:37:13in the college storm. But he takes up the chainsaw and
- 1:37:17for anybody that ever complained about the up at the crack of
- 1:37:20dawn scene, this is the male version of it here.
- 1:37:23So he takes it and puts it right at his butt crack.
- 1:37:26And then we see him chainsaw right through the Dick and
- 1:37:28balls. Yep.
- 1:37:29And we see it. We see Dick and Ball just
- 1:37:31flapping around getting chopped in half and we see him just
- 1:37:34like, reveling in all of it. Does his little Blood Angel and
- 1:37:38we've got the Terror Fire Christmas song playing in the
- 1:37:40background. I love that they had a whole
- 1:37:42song made for this. They had a whole choir singing
- 1:37:44it. Yeah, I know.
- 1:37:46It was impressive. I I really dug.
- 1:37:47It I'm surprised we only got it in this one moment and the
- 1:37:50credits yeah, I'm kind of glad because it.
- 1:37:53Would have gotten overused. Yeah.
- 1:37:56Yeah, that's true. So Greg is outside of the dorm
- 1:37:59and he calls. Jonathan and gets a very
- 1:38:01distorted answer, Like very. And we know from the second one
- 1:38:04that this is what it sounds like when the entity is like
- 1:38:06mimicking Jonathan's voice. Yeah, Sienna is dreaming.
- 1:38:11Of her dad's Angel. Warrior drawing and he's like
- 1:38:15showing it to her. And she loves it.
- 1:38:16And he? Says you can name it.
- 1:38:17And then when she goes to grab it, like there's this moment
- 1:38:20where it seems like her dad is maybe possessed and he looks
- 1:38:23very angry. He's like holding on to it.
- 1:38:26She's like daddy let. Go and he's not letting go and
- 1:38:29things are getting weird. It's like an earthquake type
- 1:38:31situation and then she starts getting flashes of images of the
- 1:38:35whole battle with art in her head.
- 1:38:37Yes, and then she used to use this sword and armor.
- 1:38:40Being forged by like a little demon slave.
- 1:38:43Yeah, that was so weird and like it almost.
- 1:38:46Looks like a fucking Christmas Angel down there watching over
- 1:38:49your shoulder like, oh hey, this is also gonna happen around
- 1:38:51Christmas time, just so you know.
- 1:38:53Like what? There's some I can't think of
- 1:38:56the movie. Because this felt like a
- 1:38:57reference to something too, with like the Angel face moving like
- 1:39:00that. The way it did felt very
- 1:39:03uncanny. It was cool.
- 1:39:04Yeah. It's very confusing, though.
- 1:39:06Like I guess I. Wasn't really sure it looked
- 1:39:08like that armor, but at the same time I'm like, yeah, no, the
- 1:39:12armor was definitely like that she had been wearing in the.
- 1:39:14Second one, that was definitely being forged down there, but she
- 1:39:17made the armor herself. I mean, this is just a dream so
- 1:39:24but. It's also it's.
- 1:39:26Not this is like a flashback to that thing that actually
- 1:39:30happened. What?
- 1:39:34Demons in hell forging something.
- 1:39:37It's an image that was projected on.
- 1:39:38To her whenever. He was handing over the paid the
- 1:39:42paper to her of the drawing. That doesn't mean that it
- 1:39:45actually happened. I think it in this.
- 1:39:49Case that's what they're implying.
- 1:39:50I don't. Think that this is a dream of
- 1:39:52that being done. I think that they're like, oh,
- 1:39:53this is the shit that happened. I thought that this was a
- 1:39:56glimpse of like, this is the type of shit you're probably
- 1:39:58going to see in the next movie where she actually goes to hell.
- 1:40:02Regardless, she wakes up it's. 158 and she hears Greg and
- 1:40:06Jess's voice and they're arguing about calling the doctor or
- 1:40:10killing her. Yeah, or we can take a pillow
- 1:40:13and just go smother. Her upstairs, you can tell this
- 1:40:16is getting a little bit too weird.
- 1:40:18It's like the mom's like into she's like.
- 1:40:20Oh yeah, let's go do. That she goes downstairs and she
- 1:40:23finds Vicki. And art.
- 1:40:25And art knocks her out. Yeah, she sees Art hanging up
- 1:40:30the body. Of Greg, yes, as in like an
- 1:40:32Angel on the wall. Yes, very like Christ like.
- 1:40:36Motif are happening here his head is on it's a Christmas
- 1:40:40start start yeah on the tree as. The Star and.
- 1:40:43Eventually his intestines will be the Garland, yes.
- 1:40:47So CNN just. Wake.
- 1:40:49Up. They are both tied.
- 1:40:50Up and Vicky points to like a wrapped gift in the middle of
- 1:40:56them and unwraps it and it's a skull being chewed on by rats
- 1:41:01and she says that's Gabby's skull and then they kill Jess
- 1:41:07with the old rat tube contraption.
- 1:41:10And this I was I was so confused at first.
- 1:41:13At first I was like. Oh, they're going to take the
- 1:41:14rats and they're going to take the tube and they're going to
- 1:41:16put up against her stomach and make them go into the stomach.
- 1:41:19We've seen it like a million times in movies before, but
- 1:41:22they're like, no, let's take the fucking tube, put it in her
- 1:41:25mouth, take a mallet and then bash it into her fucking mouth.
- 1:41:30That way it's dislocating the jaw.
- 1:41:32Then take the rat, put it in there and heat it up so it'll go
- 1:41:35in there. It was fucking gnarly.
- 1:41:38And then by the time the rats get to the neck, they just split
- 1:41:40the neck open and then they all just come like pouring out of
- 1:41:43the neck. So clearly 2 Fast 2 Furious does
- 1:41:45this. But also, yeah, American Psycho
- 1:41:49in the book, and I would eat my hat if I learned that Damian
- 1:41:55Leon is not a fan of American Psycho.
- 1:41:58You know what I mean? That seems like the type of shit
- 1:42:00right up his alley. Well, ask him.
- 1:42:02And if he is not you? Will, in fact, have to eat a
- 1:42:04hat. Well, let's He's like American.
- 1:42:08Psycho, What's that? So Vicki says.
- 1:42:13That she will. Destroy Sienna and invade her,
- 1:42:16and then destroy her from the inside out.
- 1:42:18She says that you're all alone in the world now.
- 1:42:20And then she goes. But there's one other thing.
- 1:42:23I lied. That head wasn't.
- 1:42:24Gabby's art brings Gabby out. So we see Gabby is still alive.
- 1:42:29And then we see the school is put on the mantle and Jonathan's
- 1:42:32glasses are gently placed upon it.
- 1:42:35Yeah, so. Then Vicky's like, OK, now I'm
- 1:42:38gonna possess you. So she goes over to Sienna, puts
- 1:42:40her hand on her head, and then starts to possess her for a
- 1:42:44little bit, but she fights back. Uh huh.
- 1:42:47And ends up rejecting the possession.
- 1:42:50So then they're like, OK, well, I know something that'll get
- 1:42:53you. So they bring Gabby out.
- 1:42:54But they already have. They've already brought Gabby
- 1:42:56out and then Vicki. Says that she's fighting for
- 1:42:58her, so OK, we're gonna kill her.
- 1:43:00And then Gabby says it's only too bad you didn't get to open
- 1:43:05my present to you. And then Vicki goes, well that's
- 1:43:08not fair cuz again, these demons have really weird respect for
- 1:43:11the holidays. That and they're also just super
- 1:43:14mischievous. So they.
- 1:43:15Just wanna fuck with you however they can so they're like, OK,
- 1:43:18let's let her open a present. She asked which one it is and
- 1:43:21Gabby points out the one that the.
- 1:43:23Sword had been wrapped in earlier, Yeah.
- 1:43:25And we're kind of like, how does she know this?
- 1:43:29And we think maybe it's because of the diary, but we know
- 1:43:32Gabby's a Snoop. And when the Vicky pulls out the
- 1:43:34present, she looks at her, she goes, did you wrap this
- 1:43:36yourself? And she goes, yeah, she goes
- 1:43:38shitty job. They made a reference before
- 1:43:40because they were talking about how.
- 1:43:42She used to unwrap all the presents and wrap them back up
- 1:43:44terribly. So yeah, you know.
- 1:43:46Oh, OK, She did that. So they let Sienna do it, but
- 1:43:50not before Art goes over there and takes them out and busts her
- 1:43:54fucking hands and thin cuts her hands loose so she has to open
- 1:43:59unwrap and then grab this sword with her fucked up hands.
- 1:44:02She says it's the best gift ever and she.
- 1:44:05Slices Art's throat and throws the sword into Vicky's gut, then
- 1:44:09pulls it out, stabs her through the mouth and beheads her.
- 1:44:12Boom, No more Vicky. Art comes out with a chainsaw
- 1:44:16again because he saw how effective it was before.
- 1:44:19And they have this fantastically choreographed fight scene.
- 1:44:23This is where there was a lot of stunt double action happening.
- 1:44:26Yeah, which Lauren Laferra is a trained martial artist, so I I'm
- 1:44:32pretty sure she does most of her own stunts.
- 1:44:34I mean, she did from the behind the scenes stuff here.
- 1:44:36It was all. Her from what I could tell.
- 1:44:39So yeah, they are just kind of they're having a back and forth
- 1:44:41there with the sword in the chainsaw and then eventually she
- 1:44:45gets art and then stabs him up against the wall.
- 1:44:48But meanwhile, this whole time. Sure.
- 1:44:51Yeah, I can give you that. That's right here.
- 1:44:53Evil Dead. Vicky's head is decomposing.
- 1:44:55Very evil dead. Like when the deadites do catch.
- 1:44:59And what this is doing is dissolving the floor.
- 1:45:02Yeah. Except instead of going into the
- 1:45:04crawl space, your basement. Or whatever.
- 1:45:06It's opening a portal to hell. Yep.
- 1:45:08Which is worse? I'm pretty sure your.
- 1:45:10Homeowners. Insurance won't cover that.
- 1:45:12Definitely doesn't and Gabby. Falls, but she doesn't fall away
- 1:45:17through. She's grabbing onto the edge and
- 1:45:19then Sienna has to choose between finishing off Art or
- 1:45:22saving Gabby. So she leaves Art and then goes
- 1:45:25to try and reach for her, but she hands the sword down holding
- 1:45:29the blade in to give her the handle to hold on to but Gabby
- 1:45:33can't reach it and then she falls in and takes the sword
- 1:45:36down with her. Yep, and then Sienna.
- 1:45:40What's Up realizes Art's gone. He's left through the window,
- 1:45:43and she vows that she was gonna find Gabby.
- 1:45:46Art goes to the bus stop I love. This shot of him.
- 1:45:49It's Silent Night playing. And it's just a shot of him
- 1:45:51sitting at the bus stop all by himself in the middle of the
- 1:45:54night, waiting. And then the bus pulls up.
- 1:45:56I fucking love that shot. Sienna's hands are.
- 1:46:01Healing on their own? Yeah, this is happening too.
- 1:46:04I was confused. Because I wasn't.
- 1:46:06Sure that she was. Immortal at this point, but or
- 1:46:09not immoral but supernatural. I just thought that the sword
- 1:46:12gave her healing properties, but the sword's down in hell so it
- 1:46:16wasn't able to heal her. I don't know, it was confusing
- 1:46:19to me, but we see. The bus driver.
- 1:46:23That Jesse was talking about at the beginning of the episode is
- 1:46:26talking to a passenger reading the 9th Circle book.
- 1:46:29It's a horror book. And then as they stop at the bus
- 1:46:32stop the art's at, he gets on. And then he just kind of stares,
- 1:46:36slowly picks up his horn. Uh huh.
- 1:46:39Yep, and that's it. And that's the end of the movie.
- 1:46:44All right, change your. Rating Any No.
- 1:46:47I mean, there are still things. I would wanna change but I'll
- 1:46:50keep it a 10. I'll keep my edits in too, like
- 1:46:53yeah I have. Some problems with it, but
- 1:46:56they're all overshadowed by all of the things that I love so
- 1:46:59much about this movie that I really don't care and this isn't
- 1:47:02like it's one of those movies that like I'm.
- 1:47:04So into it, but reading the lore on it, it's not really something
- 1:47:07I necessarily go searching for. It's just stuff that like
- 1:47:11populates on my feet at this point because it's the stuff I'm
- 1:47:14naturally reading. So yeah, I see some discussions
- 1:47:18about it online, which is. Cool to learn like that.
- 1:47:21You know, there are some things where it's cool to learn things
- 1:47:22second hand, but really for a movie like this and where you
- 1:47:25have shit like that, where CNN just starts healing, I feel like
- 1:47:29we need to do a better job of explaining that stuff.
- 1:47:32Yeah. So I hope that.
- 1:47:34That is an improvement. I hope that's the next
- 1:47:37improvement that comes with the script writing because and
- 1:47:41that's, that'll be my change. Yeah.
- 1:47:42We don't want a different way instead of just an.
- 1:47:45Exposition dump? Yeah, cuz you're better.
- 1:47:49Than that I mean, and these movies aren't deep movies or
- 1:47:51anything. I'm not asking for anything
- 1:47:53super fucking grand. I just need to understand
- 1:47:58somewhat If it's that important to the story, let us know.
- 1:48:04That's all I say. I felt like you were doing slam
- 1:48:06poetry for a minute. No, I just sometimes.
- 1:48:10Take a break in the middle of the sentence for impact and
- 1:48:16also. So I can figure out.
- 1:48:18What I'm about to say There we go, There we go.
- 1:48:22No, but I mean for real. And that's how I feel like I we
- 1:48:26need to get that shit on screen. Do you know how Taya feels?
- 1:48:29Well, she. Was looking forward to this
- 1:48:31movie. For a long, long time.
- 1:48:32So I think that she was relieved to finally see it.
- 1:48:34Yes, she's very happy. She's very glad.
- 1:48:37It's. A Christmas movie.
- 1:48:38She loves watching Christmas movies with us.
- 1:48:40She does a lot of them involve dogs, so that usually makes her
- 1:48:42pretty happy. This one didn't involve a dog,
- 1:48:44but that's OK because I don't I don't know how Art would react
- 1:48:48to a dog and at this point I'm scared to ask.
- 1:48:52I think that she will let it. Slide because Sienna's.
- 1:48:54Got that dog in her. And I think that.
- 1:49:00She enjoyed Vicki, you know, repeating Pretty Girl over and
- 1:49:04over. She loved that part.
- 1:49:06And I think. She really?
- 1:49:08Enjoyed the respect for the Christmas holidays and opening
- 1:49:12gifts because she likes ripping into things lately.
- 1:49:15I agree. Yeah.
- 1:49:16So I think Talia will also get this A. 10 out of 10, she had a
- 1:49:19great time. With us now.
- 1:49:22So is ultimate. Warrior.
- 1:49:23So is Ultimate Warrior. All.
- 1:49:24Right. I think.
- 1:49:29I think it's going to be Gabby. OK.
- 1:49:33Explain yours and. I'll propose mine.
- 1:49:36Are you also saying Gabby? OK, I think.
- 1:49:39It's Gabby because Gabby is all up in your face when you get
- 1:49:43there about the thing that she wants to do.
- 1:49:45She's very nosy, snoopy. She'll get in the shit even
- 1:49:48though she's not supposed to be getting in the shit.
- 1:49:50And you've told her time and time again not to do that shit,
- 1:49:52but she still gets into it because she doesn't care.
- 1:49:55But ultimately she doesn't because she loves you and she's
- 1:49:58hungry. I don't know if that's true
- 1:50:00about Gabby, but she. Probably thinks that's what.
- 1:50:02Gabby's motive is, I think. Zoe's ultimate warrior.
- 1:50:08Is Mia because Mia wants what she wants.
- 1:50:14Fuck your feelings about it. She'll do whatever it takes to
- 1:50:16get it, and she's certain that she's going to.
- 1:50:21Die in a bathtub. Someday.
- 1:50:23OK, I don't like that. Ending part right there.
- 1:50:26She hates bathrooms. She does.
- 1:50:27So yeah, she hates baths specifically.
- 1:50:31If I could combine. This too I would say yes, but.
- 1:50:34I'll I'll give you Mia, OK? Yeah.
- 1:50:38All right. Who did you relate to?
- 1:50:42Oh. A lot of trauma recovery
- 1:50:50therapy. Speak from Sienna.
- 1:50:52Hit true for me and the whole like how much do I shield from
- 1:50:57the people I love what's actually happening up in the
- 1:51:01noggin from time to time. So I think I'll probably have to
- 1:51:05go with CNN on this. OK, I.
- 1:51:09Related to the cosplayer and the subway?
- 1:51:13Yes, I just felt that. So hard whenever that happened.
- 1:51:18OK, no, I think it's. Tagline next.
- 1:51:21Yeah, what's the tagline for this?
- 1:51:26Hi, what about? You'll die, UYULE.
- 1:51:31Die. You'll die OK.
- 1:51:36My brain was just going Jingle. Bells Cole's foot smells Ricky
- 1:51:42laid ahead. Oh, that's.
- 1:51:44Really good. That's good.
- 1:51:46I don't know if that's a good. Tagline, but I like it as a
- 1:51:49Jingle. Sienna Shaw has lost it all but
- 1:51:52art. 'S still got away, hey?
- 1:51:57Hey, yeah, I like that a lot. That's really good.
- 1:52:00But again, I don't know if I would do it.
- 1:52:02I like it as a Jingle, but I don't know if it makes a good
- 1:52:04tag. Well, write it down and make it
- 1:52:05the show notes then please. When you edit this, OK, perfect,
- 1:52:09all right, you will die. Is that?
- 1:52:10Gonna be your tag line. You will die.
- 1:52:12OK, All right. Now it is time for dream.
- 1:52:17Sequel. OK, so.
- 1:52:21I've got this all. Planned out, right.
- 1:52:22So we've done. Halloween and now we've done
- 1:52:24Christmas and we've seen art have a weird respect for the
- 1:52:28lore of the holidays and we've also had a lot of Crest like and
- 1:52:31resurrection imagery. It is just begging for an Easter
- 1:52:35movie. Easter, yes, OK, because.
- 1:52:38Like we even had. The.
- 1:52:40Crown of Thorns. On Sienna's head, she has.
- 1:52:43Oh, I guess Sienna did wear too. And.
- 1:52:45You know she has gone through like all.
- 1:52:47The torture and suffering and she's meant to be there to save
- 1:52:50mankind, resurrected and all that stuff.
- 1:52:52Yeah, it's very like Jesusy. Imagery and she's going to have.
- 1:52:54To go down to hell. So we've already got that all
- 1:52:56out. Plus, wouldn't you love to see
- 1:52:59art involved in an Easter egg hunt?
- 1:53:03I would actually. Really like that.
- 1:53:05You're right. Also, I mean Easter is very very
- 1:53:08underrepresented in the horror movie Yes area so it would.
- 1:53:13Be cool to have. That get some representation.
- 1:53:16I just, I think there's so much there to work with and.
- 1:53:19He's already laid a lot of groundwork to make it, like,
- 1:53:22plausible. Yeah, Easter's not a bad.
- 1:53:26Idea OK, yeah, I can't think of a better holiday other than
- 1:53:31Halloween and Christmas so fuck it let's do Easter yes yeah,
- 1:53:35let's let's do that I like that what do you want to I mean to
- 1:53:40happen though I mean it's going to be going.
- 1:53:42Down the hill. Right, it's got to go to hell at
- 1:53:44this point because she's got to go looking for Gabby.
- 1:53:47Yes, we need. We need.
- 1:53:49Gabby to survive. She's definitely surviving that.
- 1:53:54Yeah, she's. Got the sword.
- 1:53:55She's probably down there defending herself with the
- 1:53:56sword. Yes.
- 1:53:57It may have granted her some also ability of some sort.
- 1:54:02I'd also like to get a little bit more resolution.
- 1:54:05On her dad's character. Because we've learned a little
- 1:54:08bit of learned little Nuggets. Of them here and.
- 1:54:10There, I've heard of people. Theorize about him before
- 1:54:16because his name is art the quown and his dad is an artist
- 1:54:20so he drew him. He like made all of these things
- 1:54:23himself, but that kind of this movie.
- 1:54:27Kind of, I think. Knocked that against the wall
- 1:54:29because a little bit, yeah, but he's still responsible for.
- 1:54:33The shit And he had drawings of Art the quown before Art even
- 1:54:38was around doing this shit. Remember, they found the old
- 1:54:42drawings that he had in the last movie.
- 1:54:46As a wise man once said, he's a microscopic.
- 1:54:50Cog and a catastrophic plan. You know, possibly we'll find
- 1:54:55out. I guess I'm really curious to.
- 1:54:56See what the whole thing is with the dad though.
- 1:54:58Yeah. So I and then Jonathan.
- 1:55:01Jonathan's going to be the 1st circle.
- 1:55:03Of the 9 circles, yeah. And I would love to actually see
- 1:55:06like. Some Dante's Inferno type shit
- 1:55:08like I want, I want that lore used in this.
- 1:55:11And I do think that cuz Damien's been sitting on this storyline
- 1:55:14for so long, I do think he's got a lot of really good ideas and I
- 1:55:17just want him to stick the landing on this so badly.
- 1:55:21You know, they've said there, I've seen.
- 1:55:24Time a time or two, the 4th one is gonna be the last, but then
- 1:55:30I've also seen where there's two more that'll happen, so it
- 1:55:33sounds like he's got an idea for what would.
- 1:55:35Potentially be one really long movie so split it up into two
- 1:55:38shorter movies is how I've read it at this point.
- 1:55:41He really doesn't do short movies from.
- 1:55:43What I which is why it's and I. I think it's kind of funny too
- 1:55:47'cause it's like all the other blockbusters where you've got
- 1:55:49like so many parts and then the last one is like a Fast 1
- 1:55:52Furious. Yeah, Fast Sex Part 2.
- 1:55:55Yeah, like so. That's that's.
- 1:55:59What I want, that's what I want from this.
- 1:56:00And I, I really fucking. I will be so furious if he
- 1:56:04doesn't take this groundwork. He is late for himself to do a
- 1:56:08really hilarious Easter bit. I hope so.
- 1:56:11That'd be awesome. All right.
- 1:56:14So I guess it's time for reviews.
- 1:56:15Yeah, yes. All right, so I knew.
- 1:56:19That we were positive on the movie.
- 1:56:21So I pulled a more negative review and I tried to find
- 1:56:26something that like gave some reasons and not reasons that I
- 1:56:30would just. Be like, well, I.
- 1:56:31Disagree, you know what I mean? I wanted to get like well
- 1:56:34thought out things that seemed possible.
- 1:56:38So this is a 2. Out of 10.
- 1:56:43There was a time when Art the Clown excited me.
- 1:56:44He was creepy, maybe even scary at times.
- 1:56:46The grindhouse vibes and unsettling scenes such as the
- 1:56:48VHS or train station segment brought something fresh to this
- 1:56:51killer clown. A powerful less is more
- 1:56:54approach, such as close-ups of his demented laugh in warehouses
- 1:56:57or gas stations, or him conducting mental warfare on
- 1:57:00victims with dark, sadistic humor.
- 1:57:02This all changed. His looks have become goofier
- 1:57:05with every movie, and so has his behavior.
- 1:57:07He went from menacing to a caricature.
- 1:57:09Part 2 had a nice balance of humor and brought some fresh
- 1:57:11ideas, but Art started looking too cute to be taken seriously.
- 1:57:15Part three turns him into a cartoon and has no redeeming
- 1:57:18qualities. His performance is forgettable
- 1:57:20and overacted. The setting doesn't work.
- 1:57:22It isn't scary at all. Damien said he wanted to focus
- 1:57:25on making Art scary again. Well he did the opposite of this
- 1:57:27movie. Gore for the sake of gore is
- 1:57:29cheesy, unnecessary and played out in my opinion.
- 1:57:32View way more interesting to see a truly frightening Art the
- 1:57:34clown movie. The gore actually hinders me
- 1:57:36from taking the movie seriously because it's so over the top and
- 1:57:39unrealistic at times. Art could look so much more
- 1:57:42menacing with simple changes such as fully black eyes and
- 1:57:45razor sharp bloody black teeth. I don't understand why they're
- 1:57:48making him look less frightening every time.
- 1:57:51Also, please don't give him any sidekicks.
- 1:57:53We want to see a movie about art, not a movie with art.
- 1:57:57I feel that this clown has potential, but he has yet to
- 1:57:59star in a movie he truly deserves and that will bring out
- 1:58:01the best qualities of the actor. The best scenes are the scenes
- 1:58:04that give him some depth such as the laundromat scene, Halloween
- 1:58:07store trick or treating homeless lady with the baby doll,
- 1:58:10taunting victims in a scary way, etcetera.
- 1:58:12Give art some depth and stop treating him like a gory killer
- 1:58:15to fill in the blanks. I don't have any expectations
- 1:58:18anymore after this movie. Part 3 was a complete let down
- 1:58:20and the worst thus far. Damien should go back to the
- 1:58:22roots of Terrifier if he wants to explore his best material and
- 1:58:25create his best Terrifier movie yet.
- 1:58:29Yeah, OK. You know.
- 1:58:32I can see what they're saying with him being a little bit more
- 1:58:34goofy. Yes, cuz the first one.
- 1:58:38He. Kind of was a little goofy, but
- 1:58:40he was more just kind of unsettling.
- 1:58:44But the way, like, he was like goofing around, but it wasn't
- 1:58:47that he was having fun. He was trying.
- 1:58:50The goal was to make you uncomfortable.
- 1:58:52Yeah. Here he's like, even without
- 1:58:55anybody paying attention, doing like a little goofy gag when
- 1:58:57he's eavesdropping on Mia and Cole, you know, things like
- 1:59:02that. He's just being like a little
- 1:59:04like he's being very cartoonish, but I don't personally have a
- 1:59:09problem with it. I think that he's very creepy
- 1:59:12still, especially in this movie. I think for.
- 1:59:17Me it helps balance. Out the overtopness, over the
- 1:59:20topness of the gore in a way that like makes it, I don't want
- 1:59:25to say palatable, but I guess palatable.
- 1:59:28I don't it it like evens it out some tonally I guess.
- 1:59:33Like I don't understand. How the gore being what?
- 1:59:38Like what you see here being to the point where I go, that's too
- 1:59:41cartoonishly overload the top. Like I think what we're seeing
- 1:59:45is like what you the parts that you don't normally see when you
- 1:59:48watch these movies, Yeah, they shy away from.
- 1:59:52I don't feel like it's like, oh, that's a cartoon anything.
- 1:59:54I feel like they do an amazing job with the effects here.
- 1:59:57Like, that's probably as real as I ever want to see.
- 2:00:01Anything like that ever demonstrated?
- 2:00:03Well, that's like whenever I think about stuff where like, it
- 2:00:06cuts. Away and you have to fill in the
- 2:00:07blanks with your head and I'm like I don't know if my brain is
- 2:00:11sick enough or if it's too sick to fill in this blank here you
- 2:00:14know what I mean and it's nice seeing a director be like no I
- 2:00:17want you to know exactly what we're going for and yes it's the
- 2:00:19worst possible thing you could actually imagine yeah I I really
- 2:00:22like that too but. I mean, to their credit, I
- 2:00:26understand where they're coming from because he has.
- 2:00:29They've gotten more playful with him, for sure.
- 2:00:32Yeah, for sure. So if you don't like that
- 2:00:33aspect. I I get why you're kind.
- 2:00:36Of a little bit more turned off with this I I like art though.
- 2:00:40I like that. And you know, that moment of him
- 2:00:42like slapping seed outside the head, We didn't even talk about
- 2:00:45that. There was a lot of people's
- 2:00:46favorite moments. And that was just like a spur of
- 2:00:48the moment thing that Damien did because it was like feeling very
- 2:00:51heavy on set. And he just told David he's
- 2:00:53like, just smack her whenever you walk by, Like, and it just
- 2:00:56turned into a thing. And it added like, again, I
- 2:00:59think they do a good job of balancing, in my opinion, for
- 2:01:03what I prefer in a horror movie. They do a good job of balancing
- 2:01:06humor in horror. Yeah, I agree.
- 2:01:09I mean that opening. Scene that's not goofy or
- 2:01:13anything at all. I mean, maybe like the goofiness
- 2:01:15comes from when he's washing the dishes, but everything in
- 2:01:18between and after that part is fucking horrific.
- 2:01:23That could be its own short horror film right there.
- 2:01:26It could stand alone, Absolutely.
- 2:01:28So, OK, but you know. What Totally, totally see where
- 2:01:32they are coming from there. All right, I disagree about
- 2:01:36David's performance. So I don't think it's.
- 2:01:37Overacted. No, no, no.
- 2:01:39He fucking knows it. I I think.
- 2:01:41It's so eerie watching. Him jump from David, the art,
- 2:01:45the way he does, which I know he's been playing this character
- 2:01:47for close to a decade now, but it's still very weird.
- 2:01:51Yeah, it's still very, like, weird to see him, like, joking
- 2:01:54around and then he immediately gets into the mode.
- 2:01:57Yeah, yeah, he nails it. He does a great job.
- 2:02:00So I don't agree with that for sure.
- 2:02:03OK, so are we ready for listener reviews?
- 2:02:06All right, well, thank you guys for sending in reviews.
- 2:02:10You all showed out this week. So I've got a bunch to go
- 2:02:12through here. OK, we'll start on Instagram.
- 2:02:161st. Off.
- 2:02:17Horror, Ryan says not as stomach turning as two in my opinion.
- 2:02:21Fun and raises questions I hope are answered. 7 out of 10.
- 2:02:25OK, you know what? That.
- 2:02:28I do think Terrifier 2 has. The.
- 2:02:31Harder to watch death scenes for me, so I can agree with that.
- 2:02:35Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'd say so.
- 2:02:39This one I hear the the chainsaw one in the shower is the most
- 2:02:43upsetting for me to watch but. Yeah.
- 2:02:48I'd say too. Probably does have a beat with
- 2:02:50Allie's death scene for sure. Cubesafe says I just.
- 2:02:55Really like the scene. When he meets Santa, yeah,
- 2:02:59that's one of my favorite scenes.
- 2:03:00I love that moment. I really do.
- 2:03:04OK, this is from. Tucker, he's got one that he had
- 2:03:08to send in a direct message. So if you all ever have bigger
- 2:03:12reviews, do that instead of the little sticker I put on
- 2:03:14Instagram. So actually took a date to see
- 2:03:18this one in theaters. She was a Terrifier newbie, had
- 2:03:21never seen Slash, knew next to nothing about the first two and
- 2:03:25wanted to watch it after seeing it all over TikTok.
- 2:03:28That sounds like Carolyn. Yeah, this is my little sister.
- 2:03:31I tried my best to. Give her an.
- 2:03:32Idea of what she was. In for a leading up to it and
- 2:03:35suffice to say she knew well and good that I hadn't been kidding
- 2:03:39by the time the second child was murdered in the 1st 15 minutes.
- 2:03:43I also have no shame in saying that both.
- 2:03:44Her and I were. Clutching each other in horror
- 2:03:46during the shower scene where Art swipes the dudes butt crack
- 2:03:49with the chainsaw like it was a discovery card and he was making
- 2:03:53a purchase. That alone would make this an 8
- 2:03:56out of 10. But Art the Clown's shenanigans.
- 2:03:58Shocker. That is disgusting.
- 2:04:01Who uses Discover anymore? Yeah, the other one.
- 2:04:06Would make this an Anton but Arthur clown shenanigans, the
- 2:04:09interesting world building story, mind blowing creative
- 2:04:13kills and awesome effects and astounding performance by Warren
- 2:04:16Rivera bumps it up to a 9.5. I can't give it a full time
- 2:04:20attend for how they did my boy Jonathan.
- 2:04:23OK, I agree with that man. Yeah.
- 2:04:25Like. I still give it that full 10,
- 2:04:28but you can't do my boy Jonathan like that.
- 2:04:31I don't necessarily even, I don't feel that strongly about
- 2:04:34Jonathan as a character personally, but he's a major
- 2:04:37character and you can't really kill him off that way if you're
- 2:04:41actually doing it that way. OK, over on Blue Sky, Tyler
- 2:04:48says. Possibly my favorite in the
- 2:04:50franchise. Art was great, so hilarious even
- 2:04:53when doing what art does. Victoria was a fun addition even
- 2:04:57with the oh that doesn't go there of it all.
- 2:05:00Sienna. Sienna is quickly becoming a
- 2:05:03favorite final girl for girl for me as well.
- 2:05:06Kills were great. Not quite bedroom status.
- 2:05:08Thank God. Yeah I like it.
- 2:05:14I think this is my favorite. Also I there.
- 2:05:19I can't choose between 2:00 and 3:00.
- 2:05:21Honestly at this point I don't know.
- 2:05:24Maybe we need to watch this one a few more times maybe.
- 2:05:26Also I do feel like this is making CNM like.
- 2:05:29A more of a final girl like she's already one, but I I like
- 2:05:32her character more after this. I they're building her up really
- 2:05:35well. I just, like I said, I I really
- 2:05:37love. This nuanced take on trauma in
- 2:05:40this movie, when people say that this franchise is just all about
- 2:05:43the gore and there's no plot, I'm like, you just aren't paying
- 2:05:45attention. All you're saying is the gore,
- 2:05:48and that's a you problem, not a movie problem.
- 2:05:50That's true. Yeah, that's there.
- 2:05:52Sometimes you have to go to the. The director's commentary there.
- 2:05:56OK and then finally Ward Zombie says oh Terrifier.
- 2:06:00I might be counted as a tourist on this one as I have never seen
- 2:06:04the others. I went to the theatre to see the
- 2:06:06hype. Overall I felt like a bunch of
- 2:06:08skids put together to be called a movie.
- 2:06:10Some were better than others, some not needed.
- 2:06:13Art is good. A likable killer.
- 2:06:15His magic trash bag is impressive.
- 2:06:17Most of the characters were likable if not a confusing
- 2:06:20family setup. As for the big topic of
- 2:06:22violence, I feel people did not grow watching Troma movies.
- 2:06:25I found the violence all entertaining but by no means
- 2:06:28outrageous. It was a good watch, just a
- 2:06:30little long. And then he ends up by saying.
- 2:06:33But most importantly, happy holiday to both of you and the
- 2:06:36fur kitties. Happy holiday zombie.
- 2:06:39What is? I.
- 2:06:42This is what our poll is. Going.
- 2:06:44To be did you watch Terrifier 3 without watching Terrifier 2?
- 2:06:48Because we're hearing, I thought, I thought my sister was
- 2:06:51just blasphemous in this when she was like, I watched
- 2:06:55Terrifier, I'm gonna go see Terrifier 3.
- 2:06:58And my mom and I were both like, that's a terrible idea.
- 2:07:01You can watch Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3 and skip Terrifier
- 2:07:061. Like you don't have to see
- 2:07:06Terrifier to see Terrifier 2. No, but you definitely.
- 2:07:10Need to see Terrifier. Two, to understand Terrifier 3,
- 2:07:13and it helps to have seen Terrifier.
- 2:07:15Also look to be fair, these movies are not very high.
- 2:07:18On ply, you can go into this movie and have a good time still
- 2:07:22watching it on its own. But if you want to have any idea
- 2:07:25of what's going on, you will want to watch that previous
- 2:07:28movie for sure. But I think that you could if
- 2:07:31you don't really care. I mean again, these are not very
- 2:07:34strong story movies, so you you'll still have a fine time
- 2:07:38watching it by itself. I still think they have enough
- 2:07:40story, especially like. The two to three, like that's a
- 2:07:44continuation and I think it is important enough to like watch
- 2:07:47that because, you know, Zombie said, confusing home situation.
- 2:07:51It makes more sense if you realize like that you know, her
- 2:07:54and her brother have been orphaned.
- 2:07:56He may have, he may have known. I don't.
- 2:07:58Know he may have done his research.
- 2:08:00So I just I'm just. And.
- 2:08:02I'm not knocking anybody for doing it that way.
- 2:08:05That God knows. There have been plenty of times
- 2:08:06that I've gotten to the sequel without seeing the the ones
- 2:08:09before it. That was my that was my
- 2:08:11introduction to Sleep Away camp. As a franchise, a lot of horror
- 2:08:14sequels don't really follow up. On another, I know I just, it's,
- 2:08:19it's just bizarre. To me, and I think this is just
- 2:08:21one of those symptoms of us living so deeply in the horror
- 2:08:24world at this point that like, I forget that like people that are
- 2:08:29maybe more casual horror fans not calling you all casuals, No,
- 2:08:34not calling you. All casuals.
- 2:08:35I'm just saying like. This.
- 2:08:36Where we've seen multiple time like instances of this.
- 2:08:39See, The thing is is. This also became more widely
- 2:08:44known this year. Yeah, they made him a character
- 2:08:46in Call of Duty. Like that's pretty fucking big.
- 2:08:49So people are finally starting to be like, who the fuck is this
- 2:08:53guy? It's a creepy clown.
- 2:08:54And then they see the movie out and they're like, OK, I'll see
- 2:08:57the movie with that creepy clown from Call of Duty.
- 2:09:00To them, that's not that big of a deal.
- 2:09:04To us, he's icon status, but really, in the grand scheme of
- 2:09:08things, he hasn't fully made it there yet because he's not.
- 2:09:12Not every household will know the name like Freddie, Jason,
- 2:09:16all those things you say Art the Clown.
- 2:09:18Some people are like who? You know, but he's got, he's
- 2:09:21got. He's getting there.
- 2:09:22Yeah, he's getting momentum. I just.
- 2:09:25I don't know, I guess it's just like a a weird notion for me
- 2:09:29because I'm so into these movies, so it's hard to kind of
- 2:09:32take myself out of that mindset. So yeah, it's interesting.
- 2:09:35Yeah. OK.
- 2:09:36But thanks for the review. I you know.
- 2:09:38That was a great. Point of trauma, because watch.
- 2:09:42Fucking toxic. Avenger, everybody.
- 2:09:44Holy fucking shit those movies go there.
- 2:09:48And not just that one. All like a lot of relentless
- 2:09:51child murder. Yeah, that fucking kid on the.
- 2:09:53Bicycle that they run. Down.
- 2:09:55They just run over his head. Yep.
- 2:09:56Yeah. Holy shit.
- 2:09:59So that was a great point. Yeah.
- 2:10:02OK. So that's it.
