- 0:01Speaker 1: It's a tradition on this show to make sure that
- 0:10Speaker 1: I ask you about the best part of your day.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Besides seeing me.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I actually tucked this away in my brain.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Please do.
- 0:15Speaker 3: And I took notes of it. So one of my
- 0:17Speaker 3: favorite things to do is to go browse bookstores.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Yes.
- 0:20Speaker 3: And so there's a small little bookstore. And I put
- 0:23Speaker 3: an order in for a book a while back. So
- 0:25Speaker 3: they called me and I went there. And it was
- 0:27Speaker 3: this joyous moment because whenever you're in a bookstore, it
- 0:30Speaker 3: seems to be like no one else is there. But
- 0:32Speaker 3: I don't know what it was, but it was just
- 0:36Speaker 3: bustling with people. And it was that moment where I
- 0:39Speaker 3: was like, people still read. I don't know how to
- 0:43Speaker 3: explain it, but it was a really beautiful moment. Just
- 0:45Speaker 3: a bunch of people in a bookstore sitting down, reading,
- 0:49Speaker 3: and I don't know, it felt like the good old days.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I'm very happy that you discovered that, you found that.
- 0:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 0:56Speaker 1: And The other day I told myself, I actually want
- 0:58Speaker 1: to go... Instead of... Because what I do at a
- 1:00Speaker 1: coffee shop is I either have a meeting or I
- 1:02Speaker 1: have my laptop there. Right. I never just sit with
- 1:05Speaker 1: like a book and swirl the coffee around and get
- 1:09Speaker 1: through one chapter and then go to work.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:11Speaker 1: And I need to do more of those. So thank
- 1:13Speaker 1: you very much for the update. Appreciate you 100%. What
- 1:16Speaker 1: about yours? Oh, my word. So many things to share. Well,
- 1:21Speaker 1: I think the best thing was... Knowing that this show,
- 1:24Speaker 1: like when you prepare a show, I'm always excited about it.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I'm always really wanting the show to be the best
- 1:31Speaker 1: it can be. But when I realized that two of
- 1:34Speaker 1: the most outstanding artists on the planet, they're both coming
- 1:37Speaker 1: to Cape Town and they were both available on a Friday.
- 1:40Speaker 1: And that Friday is the 18th of September, 2026, which
- 1:43Speaker 1: is today. Then I went a bit crazy and I
- 1:45Speaker 1: was like, yo, it's going to be a great day.
- 1:46Speaker 1: So like the best part of my day was knowing
- 1:48Speaker 1: that there's going to be two best parts to my day.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Knowing that Leon Bridges will be chatting to you and
- 1:55Speaker 1: knowing that Kenny Lattimore is going to be here in
- 1:57Speaker 1: the flesh chatting to you. That's what made me Really
- 2:02Speaker 1: excited about the day. And it made me just, it
- 2:04Speaker 1: made me warm inside to know that these amazing artists
- 2:07Speaker 1: could be available to you. And it kind of enriches
- 2:09Speaker 1: the music when you get a chance to have an
- 2:11Speaker 1: audience with an artist. One is on Zoom. Yes, one
- 2:14Speaker 1: is still over in the US, but the other one
- 2:15Speaker 1: is right here in Cape Town because he's performing on Sunday.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And I thought it was just so special to make
- 2:20Speaker 1: sure that you get these moments where you've been a
- 2:23Speaker 1: part of a generation of people who have jammed to
- 2:26Speaker 1: like Kenny Latimer's weekend that you heard in Ibby's show earlier.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Never too busy for you. Then you've got Leon Bridges.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I'm sure that you must have used Beyond for your wedding.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Now you get to meet these people. Come on.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Oh, I'm so excited.
- 2:39Speaker 1: You can't call this a job. Honestly, this is a
- 2:41Speaker 1: calling and my phone is not in silent. So let's
- 2:44Speaker 1: do this thing. It's your flash drive. KFM 94.5 and
- 2:48Speaker 1: it's a special day today. It's Friday. Let's go.
- 2:52Speaker 5: What's up? You know we're finally here, right? It's Friday.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I feel like a man. Well, welcome. It's Pitbull.
- 3:00Speaker 5: And it is.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I feel good. And it's on your show, your flash
- 3:03Speaker 1: drive in KFM 94.5. While you were working, I was
- 3:06Speaker 1: working for you. I not only got Leon Bridges and
- 3:10Speaker 1: Kenny Latimore to chat to you today, but I just
- 3:12Speaker 1: figured that there's also be an opportunity to just enjoy
- 3:16Speaker 1: some of the top stories, man. Like I heard the
- 3:19Speaker 1: creamery is not closing down after all. Remember the creamery
- 3:23Speaker 1: was going to close down, right? Yeah. So it turns
- 3:26Speaker 1: out that after announcing plans in July to close its
- 3:29Speaker 1: Cape Town stores after 15 years, Food Lovers Market has
- 3:33Speaker 1: now confirmed that the ice cream brand will remain open.
- 3:36Speaker 1: So there's a nice thing, right?
- 3:38Speaker 2: That's some good news for your Friday.
- 3:41Speaker 1: That's a very good news if you love the creamery. Yes.
- 3:44Speaker 5: All right.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Your data bill could be getting cheaper in South Africa.
- 3:48Speaker 1: There's a plan to make mobile data more affordable in
- 3:50Speaker 1: SA with the government and ICASA pushing measures designed to
- 3:53Speaker 1: increase competition between network and operators. The proposed changes include
- 3:59Speaker 1: making it easy for new players to enter the market.
- 4:02Speaker 1: So they might just drop those rates. That's incredible. Anyway,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I still have the strangest thing happening on my profile.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Like whenever I buy airtime, and I've got smart switch.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:10Speaker 1: So yes, you can laugh at me. I don't have
- 4:14Speaker 1: a contract. I'm a fully prepaid member of society. Okay.
- 4:19Speaker 1: So here's the thing, man. I'll buy airtime to call someone.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Because usually you'll buy data because you WhatsApp call someone.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 1: But sometimes I need to call someone.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Also can't WhatsApp call a client or something.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I don't... What do you mean? I've done that many times.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:36Speaker 6: Crazy guy.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I'm not unprofessional. What are you talking about?
- 4:39Speaker 2: Okay, crazy guy.
- 4:40Speaker 1: So I'll do that. But... So.
- 4:43Speaker 1: My airtime. Yeah. Let's say I buy 175 red airtime.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Okay.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And I make one minute call. When I get back
- 4:49Speaker 1: to my phone, my airtime's gone. You do not have
- 4:51Speaker 1: enough airtime to... No, what is going on?
- 4:54Speaker 2: I have 175 romps.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So I did like the... I do a... There's something
- 4:57Speaker 1: on my phone that allows you when you're in a
- 4:58Speaker 1: Wi-Fi area that'll connect to Wi-Fi and then I can
- 5:01Speaker 1: put off my mobile dot and it's fine.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Right.
- 5:03Speaker 1: But my airtime's getting sapped by something and I have
- 5:05Speaker 1: no idea what.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Well, good thing for you that the data might be
- 5:08Speaker 2: getting cheaper then.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Yes, man.
- 5:09Speaker 3: So you can keep making those data phone calls on
- 5:11Speaker 3: WhatsApp to clients.
- 5:13Speaker 8: Yes.
- 5:13Speaker 1: That'd be fantastic.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I know.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I would love that. Because it's been on the back
- 5:19Speaker 1: of my mind for such a long time. Like, what
- 5:21Speaker 1: is going on? It shouldn't do that.
- 5:24Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I'm going to make the call. That's the only time.
- 5:25Speaker 1: The rest is just... And also, I also buy the
- 5:29Speaker 1: daughter as well, which means I'm not going to use
- 5:30Speaker 1: the airtime. How do they use the airtime and the
- 5:32Speaker 1: daughter at the same time? I just feel like they set...
- 5:34Speaker 1: I am prepaid.
- 5:35Speaker 2: That is crazy.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I lead a very normal life.
- 5:38Speaker 2: When last have I met a prepaid person?
- 5:40Speaker 1: It's... Here I am. Here I am.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I feel like that was in high school.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I am here in the flesh. Just watch me send
- 5:48Speaker 1: you a please call me next time I'm out of airtime.
- 5:50Speaker 2: You're going to customize it also.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I will do that.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I see you or something weird.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I will do that and I can do that. And
- 5:57Speaker 1: then in case I forgot to mention another top story
- 6:01Speaker 1: is that.
- 6:16Speaker 1: If you're parched, I'll bring a river to you.
- 6:20Speaker 5: Okay.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I won't only do that. I am also willing to
- 6:23Speaker 1: do something so far beyond.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Oh, baby.
- 6:25Speaker 5: So good.
- 6:27Speaker 11: So good.
- 6:40Speaker 1: If you're wondering when this man is going to be
- 6:42Speaker 1: chatting to you, I'm just letting you know very soon.
- 6:47Speaker 1: He's your inside friend.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Ow.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Leon Bridges will be chatting to you inside this hour.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Then later, Kenny Latimore on one show. You deserve it.
- 6:59Speaker 1: It's Friday. It's the flash drive. Also still ahead, a
- 7:02Speaker 1: chance to win with clicks. If you want to get
- 7:03Speaker 1: involved with that, please feel free to send through your
- 7:07Speaker 1: heritage product that you've remembered from clicks for most of
- 7:10Speaker 1: your life.
- 7:11Speaker 10: I want to.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Get all the stories about why that's significant. A two
- 7:14Speaker 1: and a half thousand ring cashback could be yours. Just

- 7:38Speaker 7: On KFM 94.5.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Alicia, let's talk.
- 7:42Speaker 11: Hi.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Hi, Alicia. Welcome to your show. I just wanted to
- 7:47Speaker 1: have a quick conversation with you, mate. Very, very quick.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Very quick. Clix has in it so many different items,
- 7:53Speaker 1: and a lot of them are still around from a
- 7:54Speaker 1: long time ago. What is your heritage item from Clix?
- 8:00Speaker 12: Mine would be the Ingram Comfort Cream.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Okay. Yes. Tell me more.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Well.
- 8:08Speaker 12: I had a nanny growing up. We had a living
- 8:11Speaker 12: nanny and her name was Maria. So she would do
- 8:14Speaker 12: the usual, you know, bath the children, feed the children
- 8:17Speaker 12: and all that stuff. And her favorite thing to do
- 8:20Speaker 12: was wrap you in a towel with a towel around
- 8:22Speaker 12: your head and just put comfort cream all over you
- 8:25Speaker 12: until you're basically white.
- 8:28Speaker 1: This is the way, by the way.
- 8:30Speaker 12: It was her way of, a way of showing love,
- 8:34Speaker 12: I guess.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Protecting your skin's barrier, but it's love. It's more love
- 8:38Speaker 1: than skin barrier. That is really, and it was good.
- 8:41Speaker 5: You know what?
- 8:41Speaker 1: Camp is still good. It's still a great product. It's
- 8:44Speaker 1: still got so many of those natural, natural ingredients in
- 8:48Speaker 1: it as well. I think it's still, it's still lovely.
- 8:50Speaker 1: And I can still smell it from back in the day.
- 8:51Speaker 1: And you know, that little container changed so, so much
- 8:54Speaker 1: back then, but we still know exactly what the feelings are.
- 8:57Speaker 1: And that's what I'm talking about, a heritage product. It's perfect, Alicia.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I love it. And that's why you're winning a two
- 9:02Speaker 1: and a half thousand cashback.
- 9:03Speaker 5: It's all yours.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Well done.
- 9:04Speaker 12: Thank you. Thank you very much.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Have a wonderful weekend, Alicia. And remember, clicks always brings
- 9:09Speaker 1: you the best in beauty. And its next arrival is
- 9:11Speaker 1: worth listening out for. The UK's number one skincare brand
- 9:16Speaker 1: is officially coming to South Africa, bringing nearly 90 years
- 9:19Speaker 1: of pioneering science and beauty expertise with it. The name
- 9:23Speaker 1: is still under wraps, but not for much longer. Make
- 9:25Speaker 1: your best your new normal. Coming soon and exclusively....
- 9:31Speaker 8: Your next move should feel as bold as your ambitions.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Hello, Boothang. It is Paul Russell. I did promise you
- 9:39Speaker 1: that we'll chat to somebody fantastic, phenomenal, an individual who
- 9:43Speaker 1: has shaped wedding music, has offered something that many people
- 9:47Speaker 1: call yacht R & B. He's smooth. He's dynamic. He's amazing.
- 9:52Speaker 1: And then when I heard the news he was coming
- 9:53Speaker 1: to Cape Town, I had to resuscitate Cassidy. She woke
- 9:57Speaker 1: back up and said, are you serious?
- 9:58Speaker 5: I said, yes.
- 9:59Speaker 1: She fell down. again i woke her up again i
- 10:02Speaker 1: said yes it's true one more time and then she
- 10:04Speaker 1: was finally here.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Yacht rnb yeah damn.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yeah no no that's that's how they they described it
- 10:12Speaker 1: but i mean i just think it's just so smooth.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Listen, you don't have to tell me anything about Leon Bridges. I.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:22Speaker 1: You just have to just warm up. You just have
- 10:24Speaker 1: to feel the warmth. Feel that. Tickets for his show
- 10:30Speaker 1: only go on sale next week. So there's going to
- 10:34Speaker 1: be a bit of Antissa for you. Patient, of course.
- 10:40Speaker 11: She might just be my everything to be honest.
- 10:43Speaker 1: 30 November. And I think that the venue they've chosen
- 10:48Speaker 1: is the perfect venue for the caliber, for the music,
- 10:51Speaker 1: for the tone, for the vibe, for the smooth.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Can I take a guess? Is it a Kirstenbosch situation?
- 10:56Speaker 1: Oh, hell yes.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Of course.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Do you remember when we experienced Callum Scott at Kirstenbosch
- 11:03Speaker 1: and it was perfect? It's almost like the grass.
- 11:04Speaker 7: It was.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Was grassing, the flowers were flowering, the trees were treeing,
- 11:08Speaker 1: and Callum was scotting. It was the best thing.
- 11:10Speaker 2: And you know what?
- 11:11Speaker 3: When it's like this, when the music is soulful and pure,
- 11:16Speaker 3: you don't even mind if there's a little bit of
- 11:19Speaker 3: rain because, you know, that's always a possibility. I'm just
- 11:21Speaker 3: saying it just almost romanticizes the moment that much more.
- 11:26Speaker 1: So you could go to Leon Bridges 30 November and
- 11:29Speaker 1: take your inside friend. That's right.
- 11:38Speaker 7: Stop.
- 11:39Speaker 5: Stop.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I've had enough. It's your time to shine. Let's welcome
- 11:43Speaker 1: this incredible artist to the flash drive. It's important to
- 11:46Speaker 1: do so. He is amazing. Incredible. Let's do this.
- 11:51Speaker 2: All right.
- 11:52Speaker 1: We smoothed out. Let's go. Leon Bridges.
- 11:54Speaker 5: How's it going?
- 11:55Speaker 1: I'm good, man. Thanks a lot for taking the time
- 11:57Speaker 1: to chat to me. When I heard you were coming
- 11:58Speaker 1: to Cape Town, it got me very, very excited, my friend.
- 12:01Speaker 1: It's about time we get somebody of your caliber in
- 12:04Speaker 1: this beautiful city. Aren't you excited?
- 12:06Speaker 10: I appreciate that. I'm really ecstatic. I mean, this is
- 12:10Speaker 10: a huge milestone for me. And, you know, it's awesome that, yeah,
- 12:13Speaker 10: that the music is making its way to Cape Town.
- 12:16Speaker 5: Places I've never been.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I just want to know, when you heard the news
- 12:19Speaker 1: or when you were part of the think tank to
- 12:21Speaker 1: bring yourself down to Cape Town, like, and of course,
- 12:24Speaker 1: Joburg as well, but just in terms of the cities,
- 12:26Speaker 1: did you know anything about South Africa in general from
- 12:30Speaker 1: like friends and people who have performed here before?
- 12:33Speaker 5: Vaguely.
- 12:34Speaker 10: You know, some of my friends in the industry have
- 12:37Speaker 10: been there before.
- 12:38Speaker 5: And I will say it's kind of long overdue, you know.
- 12:41Speaker 10: I don't know too much about it, but I can't
- 12:44Speaker 10: wait to experience it.
- 12:45Speaker 1: You're going to love it. Trust me. We've got different
- 12:48Speaker 1: types of languages here. You know, we've got 12 official
- 12:50Speaker 1: languages in South Africa. That's number one to know. We also,
- 12:53Speaker 1: in Cape Town specifically, we've got so many tourist attractions.
- 12:56Speaker 1: We've got a very unique base of people. But I
- 12:58Speaker 1: think more importantly, you'll find that South Africa, in fact,
- 13:01Speaker 1: Cape Town, is one of the biggest wedding destinations in
- 13:04Speaker 1: the world, Leon. And I want to let you know
- 13:07Speaker 1: that the song Beyond is one of the biggest tracks
- 13:10Speaker 1: used for everybody's wedding that I've been to or emceed at.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I hope that you know that your song has... literally
- 13:17Speaker 1: single-handedly brought people together and have secured marriages i don't
- 13:21Speaker 1: know anybody that's used beyond who is now divorced do
- 13:24Speaker 1: you know that.
- 13:25Speaker 10: That's amazing and and that's probably the reason why of
- 13:28Speaker 10: beyond just went double platinum which is pretty amazing you
- 13:32Speaker 10: know but that that's that's awesome like you know to
- 13:34Speaker 10: be able to play it in real time um out.
- 13:37Speaker 1: There Just a quick one on the fact that next week,
- 13:40Speaker 1: I believe that you are dropping an album simultaneously with,
- 13:43Speaker 1: you know, the big news as well. I need to
- 13:45Speaker 1: hear all about it because, you know, in doing some
- 13:48Speaker 1: research on the album itself, like the rumor is that
- 13:52Speaker 1: this thing was put together with some people perhaps that
- 13:55Speaker 1: you didn't know for a very long time, but then
- 13:56Speaker 1: you just got it together.
- 13:57Speaker 5: Is that true? Yes, I did a collaboration with Jungle.
- 14:01Speaker 10: You know, I was, you know, going into it, I
- 14:02Speaker 10: was just reflecting on, just my music and my purpose
- 14:05Speaker 10: in the industry and the significance it is for people.
- 14:08Speaker 10: And I felt it was this time to make a
- 14:10Speaker 10: project that was super vibrant, high energy, something that made
- 14:14Speaker 10: me feel good on stage and compels the fans to move.
- 14:19Speaker 1: And we are going to move definitely when it drops eventually.
- 14:21Speaker 1: And I'm glad that this is happening simultaneously with that
- 14:24Speaker 1: album drop as well. So while I got you just
- 14:26Speaker 1: listening to you for so many years, I like to
- 14:27Speaker 1: get a bit closer. And one question that I really
- 14:30Speaker 1: love to ask is that beyond the fact that you've
- 14:32Speaker 1: got R & B and you've got soul and there's
- 14:34Speaker 1: so much to, you know, call it yacht R &
- 14:35Speaker 1: B if you want to call it. But I think
- 14:38Speaker 1: what I love about your thing is that it's got
- 14:41Speaker 1: so many different inspirations. However, everybody's playlist has a song
- 14:45Speaker 1: or a couple of those songs on there. that is
- 14:47Speaker 1: completely outside of their genre or what people will expect.
- 14:50Speaker 1: So if I put you on the spot now, Leon Bridges,
- 14:52Speaker 1: what is that song that we'd be very surprised to
- 14:54Speaker 1: see on your playlist?
- 14:55Speaker 5: A song that you would be surprised? Oh, that's a
- 14:59Speaker 5: tough one. That's a tough one. Probably Sunflower. I mean,
- 15:02Speaker 5: Sunflower by Post Malone.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Yes.
- 15:05Speaker 5: And who's the other artist?
- 15:07Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 15:07Speaker 5: And then Sway Lee. Yes.
- 15:08Speaker 10: I mean, that song is so infectious. I remember when
- 15:11Speaker 10: it first came out, I couldn't stop playing it.
- 15:13Speaker 1: It's that something that... There's just something about that music.
- 15:20Speaker 1: It's just something that's so cool, man. By the way,
- 15:23Speaker 1: are you currently holding a guitar in your studio right now?
- 15:26Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. I always have a guitar.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Hold on, Leon. Did you come prepared to perform for
- 15:33Speaker 1: your friend Carl from Cape Town?
- 15:35Speaker 5: What?
- 15:35Speaker 1: Did you really?
- 15:37Speaker 10: Yeah, I just kept it, you know, here to pass
- 15:40Speaker 10: the time, you know.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I mean, I don't want you to sit with a
- 15:43Speaker 1: guitar and not use it. I mean, it's not often
- 15:45Speaker 1: that we did that. I mean, we're going to get
- 15:46Speaker 1: Leon Bridges live in concert, but I mean, like live
- 15:49Speaker 1: on Zoom is different. Like this is an opportunity. Do
- 15:51Speaker 1: you want to throw in maybe a verse of one
- 15:53Speaker 1: of the tracks that we're going to hear on the album?
- 15:55Speaker 1: Like a little scoop while we're here. I mean, we
- 15:58Speaker 1: have the guitar.
- 15:59Speaker 5: Spinning all night and you're chasing my heart.
- 16:01Speaker 13: You were riding in the back when I got a
- 16:05Speaker 13: new car.
- 16:07Speaker 5: You know what it felt.
- 16:09Speaker 11: Like Running all the red light Me and my son,
- 16:15Speaker 11: I don't know where we are But it feels like
- 16:19Speaker 11: home when you're laying my own We can.
- 16:22Speaker 8: Just stay here, stay.
- 16:27Speaker 13: Your love is electric Running through my veins Start it
- 16:36Speaker 13: all over and do it again.
- 16:40Speaker 5: That's what I'm like, you know. Love is a legend.
- 16:44Speaker 5: Love is a legend.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Look, I need to pay you now. Do you have
- 16:47Speaker 1: a link that I can just, I mean, wow.
- 16:50Speaker 5: What? Giving out the good vibes for free.
- 16:52Speaker 1: No, that's some very good vibes. I'm looking forward to
- 16:54Speaker 1: this album, man. By the way, thank you for that.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I saw the guitar and I took an opportunity. I
- 16:58Speaker 1: hope you don't mind.
- 17:00Speaker 5: No worries.
- 17:00Speaker 1: No, I just had to. It's going to be such
- 17:01Speaker 1: a beautiful concert. I'm looking forward to it. What are
- 17:04Speaker 1: we going to expect from your performances on stage?
- 17:06Speaker 10: Yeah, it's definitely a journey, you know, and, you know,
- 17:10Speaker 10: I really love the addition of some of this new music.
- 17:13Speaker 5: You know, the show is going to be a party.
- 17:14Speaker 10: You know, I linked up with my good friend Adrian
- 17:17Speaker 10: Quesada from the Black Pumas, and he's been steering this
- 17:21Speaker 10: live sound and kind of enlisting players that he trusts.
- 17:24Speaker 5: And yes, it's going to be it's going to be
- 17:26Speaker 5: dope for sure.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Thanks very much for your time, man. Enjoy. And I
- 17:29Speaker 1: will chat to you when you get down to Cape Town.
- 17:31Speaker 1: You're welcome into studio to come and chat.
- 17:34Speaker 5: I appreciate that. Thank you.
- 17:35Speaker 1: No, thank you so much, Leon Bridges. Yes, that man's
- 17:41Speaker 1: voice will be here. Curse the Mosh Gardens, echoing through
- 17:44Speaker 1: the trees and bushes and proteas of that beautiful place.
- 17:47Speaker 1: 30 November, tickets go on sale. And next week, I'll
- 17:50Speaker 1: let you know exactly when. There's an early bird, 23,
- 17:53Speaker 1: 24 September officially. So grab yours and enjoy. It's going
- 17:57Speaker 1: to be on a Monday. So perfect way to wrap
- 17:58Speaker 1: up a Monday. 30 November, Leon Bridges, live in Cape Town.

- 18:16Speaker 1: that you get a chance to be a part of...
- 18:19Speaker 1: Somebody who is very trivial with regard to what they
- 18:21Speaker 1: were doing the other day, it finally comes to light.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Because I know for a fact that certain people like
- 18:26Speaker 1: Cassidy were driving certain vehicles around the city. And now
- 18:30Speaker 1: this all makes sense now that I've got this piece
- 18:32Speaker 1: of material in front of me. So when you drive
- 18:34Speaker 1: the all-new... Mazda CX-5. The C now is for Cassidy. Yes,
- 18:40Speaker 1: it is. The world won't change the way you see
- 18:43Speaker 1: it will. Next week, the Mazda Wonder... That is very funny.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Drive will uncover a different side of the Cape because
- 18:53Speaker 1: there are three R's.
- 18:54Speaker 2: After the Wonder.
- 18:55Speaker 1: That's why.
- 18:55Speaker 2: But it's crazy that you went the.
- 18:59Speaker 1: What did you do in your what?
- 19:01Speaker 2: It's not radio-friendly. Carry on.
- 19:03Speaker 5: Okay.
- 19:05Speaker 1: I know what it is. I'm going to do it
- 19:07Speaker 1: for the next one. Hold on. So we're talking about
- 19:09Speaker 1: hidden gems, old stomping grounds to places that make the
- 19:11Speaker 1: city feel like home. So every day, a new Mazda
- 19:14Speaker 1: One Drive will be shared on the KFM 94.5 socials
- 19:19Speaker 1: featuring a special experience with the all-new Mazda CX-5. Head
- 19:22Speaker 1: to KFMZA's Facebook page. or instagram answer the simple cx5
- 19:28Speaker 1: question uh like and then share the post and you
- 19:30Speaker 1: can win 5 000 rand plus every entry puts you
- 19:33Speaker 1: in the draw to win the ultimate mazda wonder that's
- 19:38Speaker 1: what i'm talking about drive weekend away that is worth
- 19:42Speaker 1: 40,000 Rand in the all new Mazda CX-5. So wonder awaits.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I'm going to do like new R's.
- 19:51Speaker 3: I am so excited to hear what your journey of
- 19:54Speaker 3: it is.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Sierra, Missy Elliott, one, two step on the flash drive.
- 20:00Speaker 1: My name is Carl Wastey. This is Cassidy Jade Nicholson.
- 20:03Speaker 1: And finally, the moment has arrived. He has arrived. Sunday,
- 20:07Speaker 1: you get to experience him live in concert. I'd like
- 20:10Speaker 1: to welcome Mr. Kenny Lattimore to the studio. My brother.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Hello.
- 20:15Speaker 9: Thank you.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Thank you for having me.
- 20:18Speaker 8: It is good to be here on this beautiful day.
- 20:20Speaker 1: It's not bad, eh, Cape Town? It's not bad here
- 20:23Speaker 1: at all.
- 20:23Speaker 8: The most beautiful city in the world.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 20:25Speaker 8: It just really is.
- 20:27Speaker 1: We are going to quote.
- 20:28Speaker 8: I'm not even joking.
- 20:29Speaker 1: We are going to quote you on that.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I'm blushing on behalf of Cape Town. I want you
- 20:32Speaker 2: to know.
- 20:33Speaker 1: So good. Kenny, honestly, it's... I was telling you briefly
- 20:38Speaker 1: that your music has been part of the heritage. We're
- 20:40Speaker 1: heading towards Heritage Day in South Africa. The last time
- 20:42Speaker 1: you were here was quite a while ago, back in 2013,
- 20:44Speaker 1: I know. You were in a tour here, right? Yes.
- 20:48Speaker 1: But I think the best thing that we found out
- 20:50Speaker 1: is that Cassidy was born... In the same year as
- 20:54Speaker 1: that hit album dropped of yours in 1996.
- 20:56Speaker 8: So we're trying to figure out, was she conceived by...
- 21:01Speaker 8: The rumors are true.
- 21:02Speaker 2: The rumors are true. I am because you are.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you.
- 21:06Speaker 2: And that's the end of that. You know what I mean?
- 21:10Speaker 1: This is what happens when your daddy wasn't too busy
- 21:13Speaker 1: on a weekend. And he said to your mommy, it's
- 21:16Speaker 1: for you.
- 21:17Speaker 11: Oh, gosh.
- 21:18Speaker 1: And then you came through. Come on. But really, being
- 21:23Speaker 1: back in Cape Town, of course, thank you for saying
- 21:26Speaker 1: it's a beautiful city. Oh, absolutely. It welcomes you. Your
- 21:29Speaker 1: music has really been part of not only our heritage,
- 21:33Speaker 1: but clearly part of our population, boo. So, thank you.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 21:38Speaker 8: I was here on holiday, too, this past December.
- 21:40Speaker 1: What?
- 21:41Speaker 3: Oh, yeah?
- 21:41Speaker 5: I sure was.
- 21:41Speaker 8: Secretly came in.
- 21:42Speaker 5: Sneaky.
- 21:43Speaker 11: Sneaky.
- 21:43Speaker 8: And I just enjoyed the city. It was gorgeous and
- 21:48Speaker 8: just perfect. And so it's good to be back this quick.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Nice.
- 21:52Speaker 5: Good to be back.
- 21:52Speaker 8: And now singing, though. I got a chance to rest here.
- 21:55Speaker 8: Now I get to come back and sing again.
- 21:56Speaker 1: You did so well in being that sneaky in Cape Town.
- 22:00Speaker 1: How did you do that? Because we hear that everybody's
- 22:02Speaker 1: coming down. Trust me. Recently, there was Rita Ora came
- 22:05Speaker 1: down with her hubby. There was one. There were a
- 22:08Speaker 1: couple of others. But now I hear that you were
- 22:09Speaker 1: in December. So, I mean, what did you get up to?
- 22:11Speaker 1: Did you go to the Winelands? Did you chill in
- 22:13Speaker 1: Cape Town?
- 22:13Speaker 8: You know what's really crazy was I went to Robben
- 22:17Speaker 8: Island for the first time.
- 22:18Speaker 5: Wow.
- 22:18Speaker 8: And I've been coming here for 30 years.
- 22:20Speaker 6: Wow.
- 22:21Speaker 8: But I never actually went to Robben Island. I was
- 22:23Speaker 8: friends with Nelson Mandela and his family and all that.
- 22:27Speaker 8: I've been friends with them for years. But it was
- 22:30Speaker 8: quite interesting to be a tourist. That's what I felt like.
- 22:33Speaker 5: I was a tourist.
- 22:34Speaker 8: But I was incognito with my hat and shades and
- 22:37Speaker 8: mask on and walking through the city. It was great.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Oh, that is so beautiful that you knew Tata Madiba.
- 22:44Speaker 5: Oh, my word. Oh, amazing.
- 22:46Speaker 1: That must have been so special.
- 22:47Speaker 8: Actually, my first time here was singing for his 80th birthday.
- 22:52Speaker 8: And I was in Durban and Johannesburg then. And I
- 22:56Speaker 8: ended up coming to Grand West later on in 2013.
- 23:00Speaker 8: But that was my introduction to being in South Africa.
- 23:04Speaker 8: It was a time where a lot of things were
- 23:06Speaker 8: happening with and against women. So I felt like my
- 23:11Speaker 8: music became loved by the country because I'm saying, for you,
- 23:18Speaker 8: I give a lifetime of stability. I'm never too busy
- 23:20Speaker 8: for you. You know, can we find forgiveness in the
- 23:22Speaker 8: throes of our misunderstandings? You know, always remember that I'll
- 23:25Speaker 8: be here waiting for you and all this other stuff
- 23:28Speaker 8: that I think the women in the country needed to hear. Yeah,
- 23:31Speaker 8: because there was a myth not to go too dark,
- 23:34Speaker 8: but there was a myth that you could rape a
- 23:36Speaker 8: virgin and she'd be cured of AIDS. It was it
- 23:38Speaker 8: was so many things that were going on. And so
- 23:41Speaker 8: people would say at the radio stations, come by and talk.
- 23:45Speaker 8: And just talk about our love for our women here
- 23:47Speaker 8: in the country. And I know there are things that
- 23:49Speaker 8: are even happening right now that are along the same lines.
- 23:52Speaker 8: We're not taken care of. We've got to protect our women.
- 23:57Speaker 8: We just really do. You are the life form. You
- 24:00Speaker 8: are the creative life force of the world. And we
- 24:07Speaker 8: know we play a part in it as men. But
- 24:10Speaker 8: we have to love on you and we have to
- 24:12Speaker 8: protect you. And that's what the music was really about.
- 24:15Speaker 8: It was singing to the hearts of women, to the
- 24:17Speaker 8: minds of men too, but to encourage them in love.
- 24:20Speaker 8: So that's what the whole thing was about. And so
- 24:22Speaker 8: we're going to be singing about this love on Sunday
- 24:25Speaker 8: and we're going to be celebrating love as a whole.
- 24:29Speaker 8: And I told some of my friends earlier, I want
- 24:33Speaker 8: it to feel like you're in my living room, that
- 24:35Speaker 8: you're at my house, we're just having a conversation just
- 24:37Speaker 8: like this. It would be great to have, you know,
- 24:40Speaker 8: even though it may be thousands of people in the room,
- 24:42Speaker 8: We want it to feel like we're just intimate and
- 24:45Speaker 8: having a conversation.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Yes. And you have that ability because I'm glad that
- 24:48Speaker 1: you mentioned that, especially at a very sensitive time in
- 24:51Speaker 1: the country where us men, we need to start talking very,
- 24:54Speaker 1: very clearly on what we need to do. Because whether
- 24:59Speaker 1: you like it or not, we are the problem and
- 25:01Speaker 1: we need to make sure that we also are part
- 25:03Speaker 1: of the repair process. And the solution of the minds
- 25:07Speaker 1: of men. So when somebody like you, and you know,
- 25:09Speaker 1: that's how a lot of men do think. We see
- 25:12Speaker 1: someone in your position, you have money and you have power,
- 25:15Speaker 1: and suddenly that's what I need to attain. And I
- 25:17Speaker 1: think that the real problem, if I just were to
- 25:19Speaker 1: touch on this, is that there is no one teaching
- 25:22Speaker 1: our men where the power actually should come from.
- 25:25Speaker 8: That's good.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Because we don't have a lot of role models to
- 25:28Speaker 1: show us the way in that way. And we need
- 25:30Speaker 1: to make sure that we are looking after ourselves. Someone
- 25:32Speaker 1: like you can be so articulate about loving and about
- 25:36Speaker 1: articulating words of love toward a woman. That should be inspiration.
- 25:41Speaker 8: And the power of it.
- 25:41Speaker 1: That shouldn't look like weakness. Not at all. Can you
- 25:44Speaker 1: let them know songs are so soft? It's not about
- 25:46Speaker 1: being soft or hard. It's about being truthful and having
- 25:50Speaker 1: conviction behind what you believe. And that is what you
- 25:52Speaker 1: just said, is that we have to keep our women
- 25:54Speaker 1: safe in this country and every other country.
- 25:56Speaker 8: And every other country, yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 1: That's so important. I'm so glad you touched on that.
- 26:00Speaker 1: That's why Sunday is so special to.
- 26:01Speaker 5: Have you there.
- 26:02Speaker 8: Thank you. Thank you so much. And I appreciate everything
- 26:05Speaker 8: that you said, that you get it. Another man gets it.
- 26:08Speaker 7: Yeah. Yeah.
- 26:10Speaker 8: And we just have to keep the conversation going so
- 26:13Speaker 8: that we feel the responsibility to do that. Because we can.
- 26:18Speaker 8: I have a daughter now. I didn't have a daughter
- 26:20Speaker 8: last time I was here performing. But once I had
- 26:24Speaker 8: a daughter and I realized I have two sons and
- 26:26Speaker 8: a daughter. And she's just different. And maybe that's the
- 26:31Speaker 8: way God made it. There's a creation where her heart,
- 26:35Speaker 8: her emotion, everything is in how she reacts. to various
- 26:39Speaker 8: things it's very different and I want to be sensitive
- 26:42Speaker 8: to that I don't want to put her in a
- 26:44Speaker 8: box or close her out from her expression and how
- 26:49Speaker 8: she is formed and because she's beautiful in that all
- 26:52Speaker 8: of her everything that we make even consider a flaw
- 26:55Speaker 8: it's beautiful And I get to see something that's different
- 26:59Speaker 8: than me that I can grow by.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Oh, that is, that is essentially, that is the foundation
- 27:04Speaker 1: of it right there. Is that what you, what you see,
- 27:07Speaker 1: not what has been given to you by society is
- 27:10Speaker 1: what norms are, what you see. I do believe that
- 27:13Speaker 1: we get to create the beauty in our perception and
- 27:17Speaker 1: the respect that we have for people around us. That's
- 27:19Speaker 1: how we create our reality and how we should, which is,
- 27:22Speaker 1: it's so lovely to hear. And, It actually is a
- 27:24Speaker 1: very good segue into what I discovered about your music catalog, okay?
- 27:27Speaker 1: Because now I, obviously, into anticipation, I was so excited.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I went to go listen to all of your tracks,
- 27:33Speaker 1: some of which I hadn't listened to. And then I
- 27:35Speaker 1: found that, I'm assuming this is because of your new
- 27:38Speaker 1: bundle of joy, you turned some of your tracks into lullabies.
- 27:42Speaker 8: Lullabies, I did. I sure did. My wife, Faith.
- 27:45Speaker 2: That's incredible.
- 27:47Speaker 8: We were talking about, when my daughter was born, I
- 27:50Speaker 8: think my wife really wanted me to do lullabies then.
- 27:53Speaker 8: And I wasn't ready. I just wasn't in the right space.
- 27:56Speaker 8: I think we were just busy. You know, sometimes that happens.
- 27:59Speaker 8: We're never too busy, but sometimes we're... But we are busy.
- 28:03Speaker 8: So I said, well, when our son came, I said,
- 28:06Speaker 8: you know, I have the time to do this. I
- 28:09Speaker 8: know who I should do this with, who would get it,
- 28:11Speaker 8: who has children to, who understands that there's a whole
- 28:15Speaker 8: different approach of soft. That's as soft as I can get.
- 28:19Speaker 8: Softly singing this so that a child could sleep to it.
- 28:22Speaker 8: or set the mood and set the atmosphere for the
- 28:25Speaker 8: child to go to sleep. And I went into the
- 28:28Speaker 8: studio with my buddy Aaron Lindsay, and we just went
- 28:30Speaker 8: for it. We just started with For You as a
- 28:36Speaker 8: lullaby and Brahms' Lullaby and Twinkle, Twinkle Little.
- 28:41Speaker 5: Star, just different kinds of things.
- 28:42Speaker 1: That's the one I listened to before the show.
- 28:44Speaker 8: And then my Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, our daughter studies
- 28:48Speaker 8: Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. So I said, I'm going to
- 28:52Speaker 8: sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star in these two languages and
- 28:56Speaker 8: in English and give that as a part of the lullaby.
- 28:59Speaker 8: And just, you know, because it's a part of our
- 29:01Speaker 8: family story that we've finally done this.
- 29:03Speaker 1: It is so beautiful.
- 29:04Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 29:05Speaker 1: But just go listen to it, because I after that,
- 29:07Speaker 1: I thought, why has Kenny Latimer not done an audio book?
- 29:11Speaker 1: of something wow just you could do an audiobook for
- 29:15Speaker 1: anything you could make anything sound smooth oh thanks i
- 29:18Speaker 1: promise you you could sound like like paying your taxes
- 29:22Speaker 1: you could easily i need that song we all need
- 29:26Speaker 1: that song we all need that song it's important but
- 29:29Speaker 1: i just just to kind of go back for a
- 29:30Speaker 1: second you've had such a beautiful journey in your career
- 29:33Speaker 1: and and just reading through it and this is where
- 29:35Speaker 1: i say the book because like the reading is amazing
- 29:38Speaker 1: and so tell me correct me when if I'm wrong
- 29:40Speaker 1: here because you know Wikipedia only gives you so much
- 29:42Speaker 1: right but it does speak to things like you were
- 29:45Speaker 1: discovered at a wedding.
- 29:47Speaker 8: I was discovered at a wedding I was singing uh
- 29:50Speaker 8: Jeffrey Osborne I think we're going all the way or
- 29:52Speaker 8: one of his wedding songs uh-huh And there was a
- 29:55Speaker 8: manager there. Her name was Vern Goff. And she was like,
- 29:57Speaker 8: I want you to be a part of this band
- 30:00Speaker 8: that I'm developing. And the band was called Mannequin. And
- 30:03Speaker 8: she said, we have a record deal already with Polygram
- 30:06Speaker 8: Records or something. But it was a developmental deal. So
- 30:09Speaker 8: when I came in and became the voice of the
- 30:11Speaker 8: band or one of the main voices of the band,
- 30:15Speaker 8: we were able to land a major deal. It ended
- 30:18Speaker 8: up being with Epic Records. And that began my professional
- 30:21Speaker 8: career in singing.
- 30:23Speaker 1: And it just shows you that there's a lot of
- 30:26Speaker 1: artists who are trying to break in. I know a
- 30:28Speaker 1: lot of them are wanting that longevity that you've brought
- 30:30Speaker 1: to the table over here. But it just shows you
- 30:32Speaker 1: that no matter what gig you get, no matter how small,
- 30:35Speaker 1: you give it your all because you don't know who's listening.
- 30:37Speaker 8: And it doesn't mean that you're the best in terms
- 30:42Speaker 8: of better than anybody else. I think that sometimes it's
- 30:45Speaker 8: about you being different. There is an excellence and a
- 30:49Speaker 8: quality of things that I think I bring to the
- 30:52Speaker 8: table as an artist. But I just felt like some
- 30:57Speaker 8: people don't endure to the end either. Some people think
- 31:00Speaker 8: that if it doesn't come to me quickly, particularly I'm
- 31:04Speaker 8: speaking to this generation now because we're in such an
- 31:07Speaker 8: instant generation that it takes a lot of work and
- 31:11Speaker 8: time to develop something. And sometimes you have to develop
- 31:13Speaker 8: the tough skin to be a part of the industry.
- 31:16Speaker 8: I give master classes a lot of times in the U.S.
- 31:19Speaker 8: and colleges, and I talk about the psychology of being
- 31:22Speaker 8: in entertainment. You have to be able to endure harsh criticism,
- 31:28Speaker 8: the online pressures, all of those things where we see
- 31:32Speaker 8: kids are taking their lives over the bullying and.
- 31:35Speaker 5: All of that.
- 31:36Speaker 8: But you have to understand who you are. Where does
- 31:39Speaker 8: that come from? A lot of it comes from doing
- 31:41Speaker 8: the work of development and being secure in yourself and
- 31:44Speaker 8: who you are as a person, as well as an artist.
- 31:48Speaker 8: And I think that's what's happened through the years. I
- 31:51Speaker 8: was severely shy growing up as a kid, severely like
- 31:54Speaker 8: not look at you like, yeah. And music helped to
- 32:01Speaker 8: save my life and bring me out because I was
- 32:03Speaker 8: doing different types of music that my friends weren't.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:07Speaker 8: And it made me feel special. It made me feel like, okay,
- 32:10Speaker 8: because I'm different, I feel different. I feel different about me.
- 32:15Speaker 8: I don't feel like I have to hide myself like
- 32:19Speaker 8: I was prior. And it was classical music. It was
- 32:24Speaker 8: singing in other languages. It was jazz. It was all
- 32:27Speaker 8: of the things that were not necessarily commercial that made
- 32:30Speaker 8: me feel special.
- 32:31Speaker 13: Right.
- 32:32Speaker 8: But those things prepared me for the commercial stuff.
- 32:36Speaker 1: And that's the key right there. And I'm glad we
- 32:38Speaker 1: touched because that's a pillar of your story, yet it
- 32:41Speaker 1: gives you so much. It's a lecture in a certain field.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Because even something as small as architecture, a lot of
- 32:50Speaker 1: people think if I'm going to study one thing, I
- 32:53Speaker 1: have to follow it and it has to be a success.
- 32:55Speaker 1: But often what you study is not exactly where you're
- 32:58Speaker 1: going to end up. But I think it's just about
- 32:59Speaker 1: the principle of Making sure that you focus on something
- 33:02Speaker 1: and you show diligence in it and passion toward it
- 33:05Speaker 1: that the other things happen.
- 33:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:06Speaker 1: And some of that.
- 33:07Speaker 8: You still hold on to.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Definitely.
- 33:09Speaker 5: Architecture.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Yes, of course.
- 33:10Speaker 8: I love it, right?
- 33:11Speaker 1: It's environment.
- 33:12Speaker 8: When you walk in a room, it creates something that
- 33:17Speaker 8: triggers your mind. It makes you feel comfortable. It can
- 33:20Speaker 8: open you. It can close you off. It can make
- 33:22Speaker 8: you feel apprehensive. There's so many things that environment influences you.
- 33:26Speaker 8: I thought that I find our architecture fascinating. And then,
- 33:29Speaker 8: you know, the buildings are when you think of this
- 33:31Speaker 8: city alone. How does Cape Town look to the rest
- 33:35Speaker 8: of the world? The gorgeous beauty of it, how it
- 33:38Speaker 8: complements Table Mountain and the ocean. You know, it's it's
- 33:43Speaker 8: a lot of thought that has to go into it
- 33:44Speaker 8: in order for a city to end up as beautiful
- 33:46Speaker 8: as the city is.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Thank you. I'm not going to take credit for
- 33:50Speaker 1: it when I'm saying that. But that's your story, you know?
- 33:53Speaker 1: And this is where I'm getting to is that this
- 33:54Speaker 1: is the audio book that I want to listen to
- 33:56Speaker 1: Kenny Latimer.
- 33:57Speaker 5: Ah, okay.
- 33:57Speaker 1: All right, this is the story. Thank you.
- 33:58Speaker 8: You're birthing something here.
- 33:59Speaker 1: I'm developing it. I'm going to be part of it.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Don't worry. I'll have a little mention in the foreword
- 34:04Speaker 1: of this book. But I think it's important and that's why.
- 34:07Speaker 1: I just there's so many stories that people have about
- 34:10Speaker 1: having for you at their weddings and about their proposals.
- 34:13Speaker 1: And I just hope you know that that is all
- 34:14Speaker 1: going to be a celebration on Sunday when you perform,
- 34:17Speaker 1: because I know a lot of people are going to
- 34:18Speaker 1: celebrate their wedding anniversaries and their proposals. Because when I
- 34:23Speaker 1: say you're part of our heritage, I mean it. I
- 34:25Speaker 1: mean that you've been part of of a lot of the.
- 34:28Speaker 1: the fabric of romance in Cape Town. Growing up, when
- 34:32Speaker 1: you go to a place and it was time for
- 34:34Speaker 1: you to get a date, and we used to call
- 34:36Speaker 1: it bluesing, all right? We're slow dancing, basically. And you'd
- 34:40Speaker 1: have to find someone to blues with. And for me,
- 34:42Speaker 1: being a man of... of abbreviated stature. That's accurate. Yes,
- 34:46Speaker 1: it is, right?
- 34:46Speaker 13: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:47Speaker 1: I would have to find someone like, you know, sort
- 34:49Speaker 1: of Cassidy's size to go in. Okay. You know, and
- 34:52Speaker 1: then you find the person and then suddenly your song
- 34:56Speaker 1: for you comes on and that intro just plays softly
- 34:59Speaker 1: in the background and you know everybody is now like,
- 35:02Speaker 1: let's find someone because I know that I have to
- 35:04Speaker 1: get my hands in a certain position and sway side
- 35:06Speaker 1: to side and get this thing ready and you've been
- 35:08Speaker 1: part of Of that legacy, of that heritage. And I
- 35:11Speaker 1: think that's something that I want you to take with
- 35:14Speaker 1: you in your performance on Sunday.
- 35:15Speaker 8: I appreciate that. And what I'm really looking forward to
- 35:21Speaker 8: is what you said. Those that have a memory like
- 35:24Speaker 8: that or an experience that we kind of have that
- 35:28Speaker 8: electric thing happen on Sunday. I think that's going to
- 35:31Speaker 8: be a beautiful thing.
- 35:32Speaker 1: It's going to happen. And it's going to be so exciting. Honestly,
- 35:36Speaker 1: it's going to be so beautiful. I do think that
- 35:38Speaker 1: you should warm up with us a little bit, don't
- 35:40Speaker 1: you think?
- 35:41Speaker 5: Okay, okay.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Just a little warm up.
- 35:42Speaker 5: Just a little?
- 35:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I just think a little warm up. You know,
- 35:46Speaker 1: whatever you have, a little warm up I think is
- 35:48Speaker 1: quite nice. What do you think?
- 35:50Speaker 8: Do you think it'll translate over the radio?
- 35:52Speaker 1: I think so.
- 35:53Speaker 3: Okay.
- 35:54Speaker 14: For you I'd give a lifetime of stability Anything you
- 36:02Speaker 14: want of me Nothing is impossible, cause this life is
- 36:10Speaker 14: no good alone. Since we've become one, I've made a change.
- 36:21Speaker 14: And everything I do now makes sense. All roads end
- 36:28Speaker 14: and all I do.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Is for you. Two things.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Okay, sorry. Cassidy, are you okay? No more?
- 36:47Speaker 3: I may need a moment. I get now why I
- 36:51Speaker 3: was born. Second thing, how do I have goosebumps on
- 36:55Speaker 3: my eyebrows?
- 36:56Speaker 8: That was incredible.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Will it translate over... So modest.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 37:04Speaker 1: That is absolutely beautiful. We're looking forward, honestly, to hearing
- 37:07Speaker 1: you and that voice on Sunday. Web tickets as your tickets.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Please go and check it out. Kenny Latimer is live
- 37:13Speaker 1: in Cape Town. And please enjoy. I hope that you've
- 37:15Speaker 1: got some itinerary ready for... for you and whoever your
- 37:20Speaker 1: entourage is that you brought along with you. I think
- 37:22Speaker 1: it's going to be a beautiful Cape Town tour for you.
- 37:24Speaker 15: Absolutely.
- 37:25Speaker 8: They have a great itinerary from a secret itinerary. I
- 37:28Speaker 8: don't even know what it is.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Obviously.
- 37:30Speaker 8: But this keeps me at peace and keeps things low-key.
- 37:36Speaker 8: So when you see me, I will be energized and
- 37:38Speaker 8: ready to go and see you.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Okay.
- 37:41Speaker 1: This is going to be so good. Web Tickets has
- 37:42Speaker 1: your ticket. Kenny Latimore live in Cape Town this Sunday.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Do not miss it. Kenny, thanks for your time, man.
- 37:48Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Take care.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Bless you.
- 37:50Speaker 1: See a chandelier. We were swinging from those because Kenny
- 37:53Speaker 1: Latimore was in studio and the man sang for us.
- 37:56Speaker 1: A little warm-up ahead of Sunday's performance. Web Tickets has
- 38:00Speaker 1: your ticket if you want to watch Kenny Latimore live
- 38:02Speaker 1: in concert. Sunday is a perfect day for a Kenny
- 38:04Speaker 1: Latimore concert. But the way he sang, I love, do
- 38:08Speaker 1: you know what the humility of the man to say, like,
- 38:10Speaker 1: I'm not sure if it's going to translate on radio.
- 38:12Speaker 3: That's not lost on me either, that that was his
- 38:15Speaker 3: little preface before he sang like that.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Like, I hope my voice is okay for radio.
- 38:20Speaker 2: I mean. I hope our radio station is okay for
- 38:23Speaker 2: your voice.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Amazing.
- 38:25Speaker 4: Thank you, thank you, thank you.
- 38:28Speaker 2: You are doing an awesome job, guys.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Thank you very much. Love you more, honestly. I have many,
- 38:34Speaker 1: many messages on the WhatsApp line, some of which have
- 38:38Speaker 1: swear words in them that I cannot repeat. However, I

- 38:58Speaker 1: heard from the Discamp Foundation about their partnership with with

- 39:08Speaker 1: safety and routines to providing support during moments of anxiety
- 39:12Speaker 1: or sensory overload. These dogs give children more confidence and
- 39:15Speaker 1: independence and give entire families more peace of mind. The

- 42:03Speaker 16: Lynn speaking.
- 42:03Speaker 6: Hello?
- 42:04Speaker 7: Hi, Lynn.
- 42:04Speaker 1: It's Carl Wastey from KF94. 5. How are you?
- 42:08Speaker 16: Hello, Carl Wastey.
- 42:09Speaker 13: Yes.
- 42:10Speaker 16: I'm very well, thank you. How are you?
- 42:11Speaker 1: I am feeling it. The fact that you were so
- 42:13Speaker 1: happy to hear from me and I could hear that
- 42:15Speaker 1: in your voice, it makes me happy. Thank you very
- 42:17Speaker 1: much for being this person. Wow.
- 42:19Speaker 16: I'm extremely happy. Hello, Cassidy Jade Nicholson.
- 42:22Speaker 17: Hi.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness. Do you see what I'm saying? Full government,
- 42:26Speaker 2: full government.
- 42:27Speaker 1: But doesn't it roll?
- 42:28Speaker 16: Full government, full government.
- 42:28Speaker 1: It's a brand now.
- 42:30Speaker 2: I love it.
- 42:30Speaker 16: I love it.
- 42:31Speaker 2: I'm here to stay.
- 42:32Speaker 1: It's so, so good. Lynn, do you have a middle
- 42:34Speaker 1: name that you can share?
- 42:35Speaker 9: I do.
- 42:36Speaker 8: It's Michelle.
- 42:37Speaker 15: Michelle.
- 42:38Speaker 1: What a beautiful name. Thank you.
- 42:40Speaker 16: But I used to be in trouble. If my mom
- 42:42Speaker 16: called me, she said, Michelle, I would run.
- 42:44Speaker 1: No, I'm trying to take that away. I call Cassidy
- 42:47Speaker 1: Jade Nicholson because she knows that I'm in a good
- 42:49Speaker 1: mood and there's nothing to worry about. I'm trying to
- 42:51Speaker 1: shift the narrative in her childhood.
- 42:53Speaker 2: That is very true.
- 42:55Speaker 15: Fabulous.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Well, you know, I love your energy.
- 42:58Speaker 16: What a fantastic way to end my work Friday.
- 43:01Speaker 14: This is awesome.
- 43:02Speaker 1: What do you do for a living? Because I know
- 43:03Speaker 1: for a fact you are either in like sales or
- 43:07Speaker 1: you are, no, because you are so good with people.
- 43:10Speaker 1: So you have to connect with clients, customers, help people,
- 43:14Speaker 1: change people's lives. What do you do?
- 43:17Speaker 4: I do.
- 43:17Speaker 16: I am in sales. I am a medical representative for
- 43:20Speaker 16: a pharmaceutical company.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Can I tell you?
- 43:22Speaker 2: Makes sense.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Can you hear? I can actually tell your occupation by
- 43:26Speaker 1: the voice that you have. I'm just letting you know.
- 43:28Speaker 1: And I knew it was sales. Because the thing is,
- 43:29Speaker 1: I would buy anything from you. I'm ready. You said
- 43:33Speaker 1: medical sales. I'm ready to buy a catheter. I'm ready.
- 43:37Speaker 16: Fortunately, that's not my game.
- 43:39Speaker 1: What's your game?
- 43:41Speaker 16: Oncology and hematology so it's a little bit more specialized
- 43:44Speaker 16: and we can't talk about it more than that because
- 43:46Speaker 16: these are highly scheduled medicines I.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Can understand that especially in the hematology and the oncology
- 43:51Speaker 1: space I got you but I'll be in touch about
- 43:54Speaker 1: hematology I'm very very fascinated in that as well I
- 43:57Speaker 1: really am But let's move on very quickly.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Very quickly.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Because we have some music that we need to play.
- 44:02Speaker 1: We can only play one song, but we've picked three.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Pietras has picked one, Cassidy's picked one, I've picked one.
- 44:07Speaker 1: You have to pick one that will play out and
- 44:09Speaker 1: that person will be the winner of the call today.
- 44:12Speaker 1: In no particular order, Cassidy.
- 44:14Speaker 3: Okay, so I've got the perfect song, what I believe
- 44:17Speaker 3: at least, for a Friday.
- 44:19Speaker 2: It's a feel-good song.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Your Friday's going to be even better if you choose
- 44:22Speaker 3: this one. And that's Lola's Theme by The Shapeshifters.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Shapeshift is very, very good for a Friday. I have
- 44:36Speaker 1: to agree. But then I want to throw it even
- 44:38Speaker 1: further back to Roger Sanchez, the legendary producer who brought
- 44:42Speaker 1: a song to our table that we'll never forget called
- 44:44Speaker 1: Another Chance. And then, Pietras?
- 44:53Speaker 15: Lin, I'm taking it even one step further.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Oh, here we go. Here we go.
- 44:57Speaker 15: It's an English DJ called Michael Gray. And, I mean,
- 45:01Speaker 15: the song name says it all. The weekend.
- 45:12Speaker 1: These songs would be in a mix together.
- 45:14Speaker 2: I'm telling you. One after the other.
- 45:17Speaker 1: These are so good. All right, Lynn, I have no idea.
- 45:19Speaker 15: Okay.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Sorry, Lynn Michelle. This is hard. You choose.
- 45:22Speaker 16: This is hard. Okay, this is really hard because you
- 45:24Speaker 16: guys have all three brought your A game.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 45:27Speaker 16: Oh, and I wanted to do it for the girls, Cassidy,
- 45:29Speaker 16: but I'm so sorry. I'm going to have to go
- 45:31Speaker 16: with Beatrice.
- 45:31Speaker 2: Listen, it makes sense.
- 45:32Speaker 16: Because it's the weekend, baby.
- 45:33Speaker 7: Yep.
- 45:33Speaker 1: It is the weekend.
- 45:35Speaker 16: And we love you all.
- 45:36Speaker 1: No, we love you more. Thank you for your energy.
- 45:38Speaker 1: It's so great to chat to you. And don't be
- 45:40Speaker 1: a stranger. We want to talk to you again.
- 45:42Speaker 16: I would never be a stranger. Thank you, guys, and
- 45:44Speaker 16: you have a fab weekend.
- 45:45Speaker 1: We are going to have a beautiful weekend. Thanks to you,
- 45:48Speaker 1: Lynn Michelle. A quick look at your room. It has
- 45:51Speaker 1: begun with a flash drive on KFM 94.5. So this
- 45:57Speaker 1: is what happened yesterday. We couldn't separate two competitors to
- 46:00Speaker 1: go on to today's final in the Flashwood with DeFi
- 46:03Speaker 1: and Finish. I want to thank all competitors for the
- 46:05Speaker 1: week because even if you didn't win, you can still
- 46:08Speaker 1: be added to a draw to win yourself a dishwasher.
- 46:12Speaker 1: It is an exciting time because great hosting is about
- 46:15Speaker 1: spending time with the people who matter most, not worrying
- 46:18Speaker 1: about washing the dishes. With the DeFi dishwasher and finish,
- 46:21Speaker 1: you can stay around the table while still attending to
- 46:24Speaker 1: the dishes. But in the background, you can still focus
- 46:27Speaker 1: on the 30 seconds of the dominoes, all right? Still
- 46:29Speaker 1: get your Milo by the time the plates are done.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Come on.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Buy a DeFi dishwasher and receive free additional three-year warranty.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Visit your nearest participating retailer to take advantage of this
- 46:38Speaker 1: limited time offer. Enjoy the moment. Forget the dishes. T's
- 46:43Speaker 1: and C's apply. It is the finale. This is going
- 46:47Speaker 1: to be so good.
- 46:50Speaker 5: So good.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Let's bring about the individual, Chantal. You have a good
- 46:55Speaker 1: night's rest last night?
- 46:57Speaker 15: Yes, my nerves are there, but I'm all good.
- 47:00Speaker 1: I'm very happy. Very, very happy to hear that because
- 47:03Speaker 1: today is a very, very beautiful day. It's the finale.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Just yesterday, you took on somebody. Stefan, hello.
- 47:10Speaker 7: Hello.
- 47:12Speaker 1: You're this guy's bass man come on man see a
- 47:14Speaker 1: fun you're making me sound like a chipmunk here goodness
- 47:19Speaker 1: uh see a fun and honor to have you back
- 47:21Speaker 1: chantal i just have to separate you two but with
- 47:24Speaker 1: one flash word tiebreaker to move on to our next
- 47:27Speaker 1: battle uh this is how it's gonna work fresh flash
- 47:30Speaker 1: word for you today's flash word now chantal you can
- 47:34Speaker 1: guess what the flash is gonna be right I hope
- 47:38Speaker 1: it's A or E. Because remember, it was D throughout
- 47:41Speaker 1: the entire week. Yes. Every day, Monday to Thursday, it
- 47:44Speaker 1: was D. D. Today, it is not D.
- 47:47Speaker 6: Nope.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Today, it's Fi.
- 47:50Speaker 9: Fi.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Because the whole week, it was D. Fi. Fi can
- 47:55Speaker 1: be spelt in a number of different ways. As you know,
- 47:57Speaker 1: steer fun, F-I-F-Y. If it has fi in it somewhere,
- 48:02Speaker 1: you know the same fi that the Giants said. You know, Fi.
- 48:05Speaker 5: Fi-fo-fum.
- 48:06Speaker 1: That's it. Fi. As long as you can focus on that,
- 48:09Speaker 1: it's fine. I have one question. I need a name
- 48:14Speaker 1: and then an answer.
- 48:16Speaker 11: Please.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Here we go. Good luck to both of you. Fi. Focus.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Here it comes. I'm looking for a word. And that
- 48:31Speaker 1: word is connected to this. To share evidence in court.
- 48:39Speaker 9: Chantal.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Chantal, answer.
- 48:41Speaker 7: Go.
- 48:41Speaker 13: Justify.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Incorrect. Siafan.
- 48:46Speaker 5: Nothing.
- 48:47Speaker 15: Justify.
- 48:48Speaker 1: There we go. Come on. Congratulations. Chantal.
- 48:53Speaker 6: Chantal.
- 48:55Speaker 12: Well done, Steerfun.
- 48:57Speaker 5: You were almost there. Thank you.
- 48:59Speaker 1: But Chantal, by the way, like you, you might get
- 49:02Speaker 1: called back because you are in the draw for a
- 49:04Speaker 1: dishwasher too. So I'm very excited. Hopefully I'm going to
- 49:08Speaker 1: give you a call back, but I'm going to move
- 49:09Speaker 1: on to my next competitor. Steerfun, congratulations to you, my friend.
- 49:14Speaker 1: You are straight into the fold over here and you
- 49:16Speaker 1: get yourself another opportunity to defend your titles. fun testify
- 49:21Speaker 1: my friend it is the finale one last quiz and
- 49:25Speaker 1: a dishwasher could be yours Miley's fresh one from her
- 49:30Speaker 1: brand new album that dropped today, Bass Persuades, on the
- 49:33Speaker 1: flash drive on KFM 94.5. I know you need a break.
- 49:37Speaker 1: You've been working very, very hard, and I'm proud of
- 49:39Speaker 1: you for that. But it's very awkward to ask your
- 49:42Speaker 1: boss for a day off, and I don't want you
- 49:44Speaker 1: to do that.
- 49:45Speaker 5: Let me.
- 49:46Speaker 2: Spring break.
- 49:47Speaker 6: Your life-changing spring escape from the office starts here.
- 49:51Speaker 8: With your share of 100,000 rands.
- 49:54Speaker 6: Thanks to Lottoland on KFM 94.5.
- 49:58Speaker 1: All right, let's do this thing very quickly and give
- 50:00Speaker 1: you an opportunity to hopefully get a day off. Is
- 50:03Speaker 1: this Karin or Karen?
- 50:05Speaker 4: Karin.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Okay, I want to make sure. Our South African version.
- 50:09Speaker 1: Because the other Karen is more of a person who'd
- 50:12Speaker 1: look for our manager, isn't it? So I'm glad you're Karin.
- 50:15Speaker 4: Well, I can be a bit of a Karen, but.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Oh, can you?
- 50:18Speaker 1: Well, the thing is, now that we're talking about managers,
- 50:21Speaker 1: you have a boss. Let's just call it the manager.
- 50:23Speaker 1: And the thing is, you usually want to speak to
- 50:24Speaker 1: your manager. No, let me speak to your manager. That's
- 50:26Speaker 1: the thing. I heard about the unique situation about how
- 50:30Speaker 1: hard you work. And maybe there's a little family connection
- 50:33Speaker 1: that makes you work even harder because it's very awkward
- 50:37Speaker 1: asking someone in your family for a day off. You
- 50:42Speaker 1: work for your nephew's law firm. Is that correct?
- 50:45Speaker 4: That is correct.
- 50:47Speaker 1: And that's quite unique, isn't it? Because number one, it's
- 50:50Speaker 1: a nephew. So it's someone who is, you know, younger
- 50:54Speaker 1: than you. And, you know, you're like, hey. I'm your auntie. Like,
- 50:59Speaker 1: give me a day off. It's like you don't want
- 51:01Speaker 1: to use that, right?
- 51:03Speaker 4: Well, you know, he calls me Karin and then when
- 51:05Speaker 4: he wants me to do something extra, he calls me aunt.
- 51:10Speaker 1: This is fantastic. Okay, I'm going to use that to
- 51:13Speaker 1: my advantage when I make this call. But you need
- 51:16Speaker 1: a day. And the thing is, you are the only
- 51:19Speaker 1: person this week with, dare I say it, the audacity,
- 51:23Speaker 1: and I mean this in a good way, In your motivation,
- 51:26Speaker 1: you said, Carl, ask for two days. Don't ask for
- 51:30Speaker 1: one day. And I was like, what? Challenge accepted. I'm
- 51:34Speaker 1: doing this for you. So rubbing my hands together, as
- 51:38Speaker 1: you can hear, I need to get some details on this.
- 51:40Speaker 2: Nephew of yours.
- 51:41Speaker 4: Monday's my birthday. Monday's my birthday.
- 51:44Speaker 1: So you need, all right, your birthday is on the
- 51:47Speaker 1: 28th of September.
- 51:48Speaker 7: Correct.
- 51:50Speaker 1: This makes sense. So now we're going to need 25.
- 51:55Speaker 1: So we need 24, 25, 26, 27, 28. Then you
- 51:56Speaker 1: want to return to work on the Tuesday, the 29th
- 51:58Speaker 1: of September.
- 51:59Speaker 5: Is that correct?
- 52:00Speaker 17: That is correct.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I need to do this for you, man.
- 52:03Speaker 17: And what you could use is that his daughter's birthday
- 52:07Speaker 17: is also on the 28th. So my grandniece or greatniece.
- 52:14Speaker 5: You know what?
- 52:15Speaker 1: That part of him, that part, I have never understood it.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Trust me. You know, I remember back in the day,
- 52:21Speaker 1: my parents took me to go visit my third cousin.
- 52:23Speaker 1: So I was like, what?
- 52:24Speaker 13: What?
- 52:25Speaker 1: So don't worry about it. Okay, I got you. So
- 52:29Speaker 1: his daughter, what's his daughter's name?
- 52:31Speaker 14: Harper.
- 52:32Speaker 1: Okay, cool. Anything else about his likes and his hobbies?
- 52:36Speaker 1: You know, anything that he's into?
- 52:38Speaker 4: Oh, he's an excellent sportsman. He plays for an indoor
- 52:43Speaker 4: cricket team called Aches and Pains. And now he's exceptional
- 52:47Speaker 4: at paddle.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Do you know what? Everybody believes they're exceptional at paddle. Everybody.
- 52:54Speaker 1: Trust me. After my first game, someone came up to
- 52:56Speaker 1: me and said, oh, you're a natural, eh? I'm like, no,
- 52:58Speaker 1: you just want my money. Anyway, let's do this thing.
- 53:02Speaker 1: I'm going to give it a shot. Two days. Challenge accepted.
- 53:05Speaker 1: Let's do this thing. Eggs and pains.
- 53:09Speaker 8: That's crazy.
- 53:18Speaker 14: But he's speaking today.
- 53:19Speaker 1: Hello, Brent.
- 53:21Speaker 7: Yes.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Hi, I'm speaking. Yes. Is this the same Brent from
- 53:24Speaker 1: Aches and Pains, the cricket team?
- 53:28Speaker 15: Yes.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Oh, my word, dude. Your name has echoed through the
- 53:32Speaker 1: indoor scene, dude.
- 53:33Speaker 5: What the hell?
- 53:34Speaker 1: How's it?
- 53:36Speaker 5: Have one in yourself.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Licker, man. It's Carl Wastey from KFM 94.5. I'm so
- 53:41Speaker 1: sorry to bother. I know it's random, but I'm just
- 53:43Speaker 1: calling you because I have a point to call you.
- 53:46Speaker 1: But first, let's chat for a second. How was work
- 53:48Speaker 1: this week?
- 53:49Speaker 15: Yeah, no, work was good. It was hectic, but good.
- 53:53Speaker 1: No complaints. Okay, that's very good, man. All right. So
- 53:56Speaker 1: the reason why I'm calling you is not only to
- 53:58Speaker 1: congratulate you on aches and pains and how great that is,
- 54:01Speaker 1: but the thing is... I don't think anybody understands the
- 54:05Speaker 1: meteoric rise in paddle performance. And apparently, according to people
- 54:10Speaker 1: on the beat, the paddle beat, okay, you've been doing
- 54:13Speaker 1: very well in that space too. So I want to
- 54:14Speaker 1: congratulate you for your progress there. And I hope that
- 54:17Speaker 1: you win many, many more accolades and tournaments in your future, sir.
- 54:22Speaker 3: Yes, of course.
- 54:23Speaker 15: Thank you.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Okay, not to professionally paddle, but I just enjoy it.
- 54:26Speaker 1: But it's fun, isn't it? I've only played three times,
- 54:29Speaker 1: my friend. I feel I'm hooked. I'm like proper hooked.
- 54:33Speaker 1: It's so cool. Although I haven't played again. I've only
- 54:36Speaker 1: played three times and never again after that. So if
- 54:38Speaker 1: you ever want to play a game, I'm so keen.
- 54:40Speaker 1: But here's the thing, Brent. You have a fantastic law
- 54:42Speaker 1: firm and you also have great employees. One of them
- 54:45Speaker 1: is Karin. And I know Karin is such an incredible person.
- 54:50Speaker 1: I know there's a family connection. But even if Karin
- 54:52Speaker 1: wasn't your family, I know for a fact that you'd
- 54:54Speaker 1: still employ this person because she's hardworking. And she happens
- 54:58Speaker 1: to have this birthday on the 28th of September. And
- 55:02Speaker 1: she has asked me to ask you if it is
- 55:05Speaker 1: at all possible that she gets the day off, right? On,
- 55:10Speaker 1: listen to me, this very carefully, okay? 24 is Heritage Day.
- 55:15Speaker 1: She wants the 25th off. 26, 27 is a weekend.
- 55:19Speaker 1: And then on her actual birthday, 28, making it Heritage
- 55:23Speaker 1: Day to the 28th, returning to work on Tuesday.
- 55:25Speaker 9: Okay.
- 55:26Speaker 1: She has asked for this because she needs to recharge
- 55:29Speaker 1: to make sure the rest of the year is filled
- 55:30Speaker 1: with power, potential, prosperity, and more value added to your company, Brent.
- 55:37Speaker 14: I don't know how she got you to advocate for
- 55:43Speaker 14: this particular request, but.
- 55:45Speaker 5: I mean, look, she's my aunt.
- 55:49Speaker 1: She's been supporting me physically. I can only double down
- 55:54Speaker 1: on what you're requesting and grant her that for sure.
- 55:58Speaker 1: Thank you very much. I'm glad that you've listened to
- 56:01Speaker 1: my case, sir. I hope it was articulate enough. I've
- 56:03Speaker 1: gathered enough evidence to ensure that her case was properly
- 56:06Speaker 1: heard in this particular place, which is on air live radio,
- 56:09Speaker 1: which gives it immediate ratification and approval. And given the
- 56:13Speaker 1: fact that you've said that live on air, I will
- 56:15Speaker 1: take that as a confirmed and signed document that cannot
- 56:18Speaker 1: be breached or broken immediately. And she is now off
- 56:21Speaker 1: on the 25th and 28th. And the great thing is
- 56:23Speaker 1: she would also like to visit Harper because it's her
- 56:26Speaker 1: birthday on the 28th as well, according to reports.
- 56:28Speaker 10: Yes, my daughter and my aunt Karin say it's her birthday.
- 56:32Speaker 1: There we go. Brent, enjoy. And honestly, it is so
- 56:36Speaker 1: lekker to hear you running one of the top law
- 56:40Speaker 1: firms as well. It means a lot, more than you know.
- 56:44Speaker 1: So keep at it, my friend. You're doing this for...
- 56:46Speaker 1: More than just yourself, but a lot of people would
- 56:48Speaker 1: like to be in your position. I love that, brother. Enjoy.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Thanks a lot, Brent. Thank you very much. Karin?
- 56:56Speaker 12: You are special.
- 56:59Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, no. No, special is getting
- 57:02Speaker 1: a whole two days.
- 57:07Speaker 7: Off.
- 57:07Speaker 5: Yes.
- 57:07Speaker 1: Oh, he loves you. No, look here, Brent. He loves you. Oh,
- 57:11Speaker 1: Brent loves you. Goodness, Karin, well done. You're off for
- 57:14Speaker 1: the whole five days. And I'm giving you 5,000 Rand
- 57:17Speaker 1: from our friends at Lotto Land. Any chance you place
- 57:20Speaker 1: the bet on Lotto Land 3 September or after?
- 57:24Speaker 2: Yes, I did.
- 57:26Speaker 1: 10,000 Rand for that five day. You get to spend
- 57:28Speaker 1: two grand a day.
- 57:29Speaker 5: Yep.
- 57:30Speaker 1: Thank you, Karin. That was wonderful.
- 57:32Speaker 9: Awesome.
- 57:33Speaker 1: You're awesome.
- 57:33Speaker 13: Awesome.
- 57:34Speaker 1: Love you. Enjoy. Thank you. By the way, I do
- 57:37Speaker 1: think that I've also locked into a paddle game with Brent,
- 57:41Speaker 1: so please remind me if that's okay. Okay.
- 57:43Speaker 5: Well, good.
- 57:44Speaker 4: No, absolutely.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Absolutely. Cheers, Karin. Oh, yes. Two days off. I honestly
- 57:51Speaker 1: love my job. It's the weekend. Celebrated, perhaps, with big
- 57:54Speaker 1: wins from Lottoland. Another winner just won over 100,000 rands.
- 57:57Speaker 1: and that person placed a bet on the German Lotto.
- 57:59Speaker 1: This weekend, Lotto Land offers payouts of 3 billion rand

- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Private.
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: Hmm. That's interesting because my guess was idol.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: Great. Can I take that in as a guess?
- 1:03:13Speaker 9: Yes.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: It's incorrect.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 1:03:18Speaker 7: Sorry.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: Sorry. Sorry. Okay. But I have a word too. My
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: word is strange.
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: I'm sorry. Sorry.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: It's Horace.
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: Egypt. Egypt is a great guess. Is it right? It's incorrect. Goodness!

- 1:04:46Speaker 1: Flash Drive, KFM 94.5. It's time for a little round
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: of the one-up. However, the one-up is we have musical
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: editions as well. We do. Do you hear our air cons?
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: I hear them.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Hold on.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: It's called ambiance.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: I can hear the air cons. You know why? Because
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: I'm helped by green noise at night and brown noise.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: It helps me sleep. And that's why I got it. Oh,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: that's a lot better. You see it?
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: That's beautiful.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: Nice. That's the sound of silence. Silence.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Don't do that.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: All I ever wanted, all I ever needed was here.
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: What are we going to do today?
- 1:05:28Speaker 15: So remember, like a couple of days, maybe last week,
- 1:05:31Speaker 15: we did songs with animals in them.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: Yes, I remember. That was quite fun. You know? Like,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: I'm going to run around, run around, run around, throwing that.
- 1:05:39Speaker 15: Turtle around my neck.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: Still.
- 1:05:41Speaker 7: Still.
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: Has me dusted. Turtle.
- 1:05:44Speaker 13: Turtle.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: That's correct. You'll find animals in every song. Don't be
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: afraid to catch fish. There's another one. Fish is in
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: there too. All right. So when you thought about it,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: so what do you want?
- 1:05:56Speaker 15: How about songs with numbers in them?
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: It's a bit too simple, Petrus.
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: Numbers.
- 1:06:05Speaker 15: I was thinking about it. I could literally only think
- 1:06:06Speaker 15: of one song.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: So don't you mean like songs that have like counting
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: in them? Because numbers are easy Because I got four
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: minutes to save the world And there's four there It's.
- 1:06:20Speaker 15: The counting Sorry, because there was only one song I
- 1:06:22Speaker 15: could think.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: Of Yes Counting Not counting crows But numbers Because there's
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: a lot of songs where they're like a count Or
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: two You understand what I'm saying? For instance, I mean
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: From the top of your head Go for it A
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: song that has You have to Like the best songs
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: that have counting in there What is it?
- 1:06:39Speaker 8: Mambo No.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: 5 Especially the beginning part. Exactly.
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: This is a good one. It is.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: Songs teach us how to count. One, two, three, four, five.
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: Everybody in the car, so.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Come on, let's ride. Perfect. Perfect start. I'll do one
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: from Sia. Chandelier.
- 1:07:05Speaker 11: One, two, three, four.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: I actually just realized that, do you know that counting
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: in songs is probably as cop-out as having a verse
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: where you just scat, where you just go... Like, I
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: feel like, because there's... Like, you could have written words there,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: but you thought, ah, I'm tired of writing.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: I'm going to count.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: Let me just count. Let me count.
- 1:07:29Speaker 9: Yes.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: Just think about that for a second. Unless you have
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: purposeful songs. What's your next one? Ooh. Ooh.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: Level Up by Ciara, for sure. It's got to be there.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: That's right in the beginning. You know, when they go...
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: You see, there was purpose in that counting.
- 1:07:50Speaker 15: She counted us in.
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I guarantee you that in terms of the counting thing,
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: there's also purpose in this next one. And I'm sure
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: you can agree it makes sense because this song's called
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: The Launch. this is good you see i'm telling you
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: now i have this theory about songs and they add
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: counting it's a bit of a cop-out like they could
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: have added lyrics there.
- 1:08:29Speaker 15: What surprised me more is that there is so many
- 1:08:32Speaker 15: with counting in them.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: There's a lot of counting songs yep they do but
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: that's what But then you need to know that perhaps
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: it is someone who is a lyricist's crutch. Like I
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: could have said, hey, the rose is beautiful upon your face.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: And as my heart paced, I thought I'd be a disgrace.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: But then I thought, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve. Oh,
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: my word. Give us the last one, Cassidious Maximus.
- 1:09:03Speaker 19: Oh.
- 1:09:04Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: Can we go Mr. Worldwide?
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: Mr.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: 305.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know you want me.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: Do you know the counting in that song? Because I
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: know where it is. Hold on. Let me scan toward it. Uno, dos, tres, cuatro.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: Exactly. He counts in two languages, mind you.
- 1:09:29Speaker 15: Yes, so see, he's also teaching us another language, so
- 1:09:31Speaker 15: there's purpose to it.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Do you know that Pitbull is essentially the Dora, the
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: explorer of music? He's taught us so much Spanish. Let's
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: be real now, please. You know this.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: I get it. I get it.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: And then he explains what it is.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: He is a teacher. He is.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: He is. Honestly, he did that. Because, I mean, when
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: I watch Dora, it's like, gracias.
- 1:09:56Speaker 15: It means thank you.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: You're watching Dora?
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: On your own accord.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Look here. Duolingo got nothing on Dora the Explorer. I
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: learned more Spanish from Dora than I did Duolingo. Just
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: want to let you know.
- 1:10:08Speaker 15: I want to go watch Dora the Explorer.
- 1:10:10Speaker 13: Dora the Explorer.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: I promise you. Caliente.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: It means hot.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: And like, oh, thank you. I didn't know that. And
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: then you get football going, you're so hot, you're so hot. Like,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: you know, so I'd rather go Dora. She's a great
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: teacher of Spanish.
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: Oh, gosh.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: On that note. Have a wonderful weekend. Tomorrow, if you
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: missed out on Leon Bridges and Kenny Latimore, I'll make
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: sure you hear it in the KFM Top 40 Powered
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: by Checkers along with some more vouchers to give away
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: to you tomorrow. It's going to be a lovely show
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: from 10 a.m. Please don't miss it. We'll be back
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: as a full team on Monday. Have a lovely weekend.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Be restful this weekend. Read a book. Do something new.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: And then tell us all about it on Monday. And
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: up next, Brandon and Yuta will unlock the doors to
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: the Friday nightclub.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: Okay, love you.
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: Bye.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: Weekdays, 3 to 7 p.m.
- 1:11:01Speaker 18: The Flash Drive with Carl Wastey on KFM 94.5.
