- 0:01Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:10Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. Dolphins already have like a bunch of mine.
- 0:15Speaker 1: They do, they do, Jennifer Local Anthony, you know, years
- 0:21Speaker 1: ago in the show there was a conversation you had
- 0:23Speaker 1: about washing machines and how you had to buy a
- 0:26Speaker 1: new one. I need your help. I can't remember what
- 0:28Speaker 1: brand you said was the best. Speed Queen. Problem with
- 0:31Speaker 1: Speed Queen is you don't get all the bells and whistles.
- 0:33Speaker 1: You could be standing in the store and you're calling radio. Now.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Some people say they're a little it's a little tough
- 0:41Speaker 1: on the clothes, little rough on them, but little tough.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I don't know. People just think he's the greatest ever.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I don't know why they do right, because people like
- 0:54Speaker 1: you perpetuate the miss. No one does it, no one's perfect,
- 0:57Speaker 1: but no one does it better. So you're a master class.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I said, I trust b and you know fun don't
- 1:02Speaker 1: tell me after the fact. I'm telling him right now.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I trust him. If Belichick wants to pay him, okay,
- 1:08Speaker 1: if not, it will hurt, But I will trust Belichick,
- 1:10Speaker 1: fred in Foxboro. This is Patriots Unfiltered, fueled by Dunky.
- 1:16Speaker 1: All Right, I don't remember you saying I trust be.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I made front of him for that b going back
- 1:25Speaker 1: to like gossip girl, I trust I'm exhaust That's what
- 1:29Speaker 1: you missed on Tuesday if you didn't listen. But we
- 1:31Speaker 1: are alive here at you Let's Stadium. It is Thursday
- 1:35Speaker 1: and another edition of Patriots Unfiltered until two pm Eastern,
- 1:39Speaker 1: talking about everything Patriots, and of course the combine is
- 1:42Speaker 1: going on. Our man Deuce is over there along with
- 1:46Speaker 1: the rest of our content team and filing reports back
- 1:50Speaker 1: here to Foxborough. And Paul's also been monitoring and and
- 1:54Speaker 1: uh telling us his thoughts. So he's been working up
- 1:56Speaker 1: a sweat over here what he's been watching. And we
- 1:58Speaker 1: were just talking before the um the show started. The
- 2:01Speaker 1: coaches are forth right, they're out there just like speak
- 2:05Speaker 1: in their mind. You texted about that yesterday, Freddie. And
- 2:08Speaker 1: normally I like to take your texts, your tweets and
- 2:11Speaker 1: immediately delete them. No, well immediately see if I can
- 2:14Speaker 1: poke holes in them. But I was like, son of
- 2:17Speaker 1: a bitch, I totally I like it, and why not?
- 2:20Speaker 1: They have been quite forthcoming. I mean to an extent.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I obviously, no, that can't say everything. Like Pete Carroll
- 2:26Speaker 1: basically said, you know, there's things I'm not gonna be
- 2:28Speaker 1: able to talk about. Like even that was right, Yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 1: you know, then I'm acknowledging your question, right, Yeah, you
- 2:34Speaker 1: know it's about the Russell Wilson stuff. Obviously he said,
- 2:37Speaker 1: you know he's not going anywhere. Yeah, you know. Josh
- 2:40Speaker 1: McDaniels talked about meeting Derek Carr and looking forward to
- 2:43Speaker 1: continuing that relationship, but said, no, we haven't had any
- 2:46Speaker 1: discussions about an extension. They seemed to be like in
- 2:48Speaker 1: a good mood and like it could be just like
- 2:50Speaker 1: they're back. You know, they didn't have the combine last year,
- 2:53Speaker 1: so maybe just happy to be back with everybody. Maybe yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 1: you know, but also this is a fun time of
- 2:59Speaker 1: year for a lot of these guys. I mean, Bill
- 3:00Speaker 1: always talks about how he loves the team building period,
- 3:04Speaker 1: trying to you know, every years a new year and
- 3:06Speaker 1: every team's new and you know, building that and trying
- 3:09Speaker 1: to figure out the pieces you have, what you want
- 3:11Speaker 1: to acquire. Yea. And probably maybe they're just happy they're
- 3:14Speaker 1: not in baseball because that Deuce. Uh, Deuce texted Paul
- 3:20Speaker 1: and I a picture of his shrimp cocktail from Saint
- 3:23Speaker 1: Almo's and I could literally taste it. I thought you
- 3:26Speaker 1: were gonna say something now I will, uh no, send
- 3:31Speaker 1: something else shrimp, but I could taste it, you know,
- 3:35Speaker 1: just the picture of it, the the shrimp cocktail smothered
- 3:38Speaker 1: in the cocktail sauce. Oh boy, good stuff. So I
- 3:47Speaker 1: get God and he's not here. So yeah, I want
- 3:52Speaker 1: to tease the that a little bit. Yeah, because our
- 3:55Speaker 1: buddy No Socks, who's also part of the contingency, a
- 3:58Speaker 1: contingent there um in Indy, he says, Uh, Deuce will
- 4:04Speaker 1: have a combine first story to share on PU today.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Now the question is, and Mike says that he will
- 4:13Speaker 1: be calling in to PU at like twelve forty five.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Oh well, what does a combine first? It means something
- 4:18Speaker 1: that first happened at the combine first time Deuce has
- 4:21Speaker 1: ever written about it. Or is it like an exclusive
- 4:23Speaker 1: type of breaking story. I don't know. But it's just
- 4:26Speaker 1: want to state for the record that I have absolutely
- 4:28Speaker 1: no idea what it is. I don't know's it in
- 4:30Speaker 1: any way? We don't know any more than that I
- 4:32Speaker 1: don't know what the story is. I'm hoping it's something
- 4:35Speaker 1: like you know, there was I got a little something
- 4:38Speaker 1: last night. Oh no, I come on, now, he's a man.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Look at this guy in a row? Is that is
- 4:44Speaker 1: that frowned upon hitting on other people's fiances. Now he's
- 4:47Speaker 1: wanting encouraging. I wholly reject that that that that second
- 4:52Speaker 1: one there, I did not hit on anybody. Well, you
- 4:54Speaker 1: did ask a question. I asked very I asked very
- 4:56Speaker 1: leading question. That's not I didn't hit on him. I
- 5:00Speaker 1: didn't no idea who the person? Anyway back to Deuce, Yeah,
- 5:04Speaker 1: I'm hoping it's something where like there's like you know,
- 5:06Speaker 1: like an all out feud between two members of the media. Oh,
- 5:08Speaker 1: that would be great. Oh but he wouldn't write about that.
- 5:12Speaker 1: He wrote about it. He just had a story to tell.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Writing he's a story like a story to tell. Oh,
- 5:17Speaker 1: I thought he was writing. I assume this is going
- 5:20Speaker 1: to be some sort of nonsense like gossip. Oh okay,
- 5:23Speaker 1: that he can talk about on the show. Well that's
- 5:26Speaker 1: what we're all like waiting for twelve forty five. Then
- 5:30Speaker 1: now I do know that once again, for like the
- 5:33Speaker 1: third year in a row, we did not have a table.
- 5:36Speaker 1: We reserve a table every year, but we didn't get
- 5:39Speaker 1: it again. I don't know why we ended up getting
- 5:42Speaker 1: it on the second day. They had to sort of
- 5:45Speaker 1: commender a table the first day. The second day they
- 5:47Speaker 1: got a sign for their table. We tried that one
- 5:50Speaker 1: year and the next day somebody had just thrown the
- 5:52Speaker 1: sign away and just used our seat. Were like, yeah, yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 1: that doesn't work with me, and no me, and like yeah,
- 5:59Speaker 1: who started talking loud talking loudly, passive, aggressively. Oh yeah,
- 6:03Speaker 1: until until they take the hinted league. Um right, um, okay,
- 6:08Speaker 1: so uh so I have no idea what this could
- 6:11Speaker 1: possibly and now could this be uh could this be
- 6:14Speaker 1: Matt Smith hyperbolizing? I would guess yeah, as he is.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Want to do that's want, thank you. Um. A lot
- 6:22Speaker 1: of talk about wide receivers yesterday. I have a quick
- 6:26Speaker 1: thought about that. Okay, I don't want to like splash
- 6:30Speaker 1: any cold water on anybody's excitement, but but I do
- 6:34Speaker 1: want to point out, like yesterday the wide receivers talked
- 6:37Speaker 1: at the combine, right, Yeah, yeah, so there were Therefore,
- 6:41Speaker 1: there was a lot of wide receiver talk coming out
- 6:44Speaker 1: of Indie, right, And I was part of that, I
- 6:46Speaker 1: wrote about some of the wide receivers as well. The
- 6:48Speaker 1: Alabama guys. Um there's three of them, Um, you know,
- 6:53Speaker 1: two of them that everybody is familiar with, you know,
- 6:55Speaker 1: Jamison Williams obviously and John Metchi both. I thought the
- 6:59Speaker 1: interesting part about that was that they both sort of
- 7:01Speaker 1: talked about their acls. Williams, I thought, in particular, was
- 7:05Speaker 1: a little reluctant to say when he'd be ready okay,
- 7:08Speaker 1: whereas Matchie was openly saying, I expect to be back
- 7:10Speaker 1: on the field in June. Now. That doesn't mean like
- 7:13Speaker 1: cleared for contact or anything and June, but back on
- 7:15Speaker 1: the field in June. Now, he's about a month further
- 7:18Speaker 1: along because his was suffering. Was the one that posted
- 7:21Speaker 1: the workouts that he's been hell. That was william That
- 7:24Speaker 1: was Williams. Yeah, people are like who he's way, he's
- 7:27Speaker 1: like a way ahead of schedule. Both of them said
- 7:29Speaker 1: that they've been told that they're ahead of schedule, which
- 7:31Speaker 1: I am waiting for the guy who says he's behind scale.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Both of them have been told by their agent to
- 7:36Speaker 1: say that their way ahead of schedule. So but I
- 7:39Speaker 1: and the other one is a smaller slot receiver or
- 7:42Speaker 1: a late round you know, undrafted free agent type Slade
- 7:45Speaker 1: Bolden from Alabama who talked a lot about Bill O'Brien
- 7:50Speaker 1: and you know, the Patriots like plays that he ran
- 7:55Speaker 1: for O'Brien. You know, he told him about Welker, he
- 7:57Speaker 1: told him about Edelman. He says he watches Edelman religiously.
- 8:00Speaker 1: So yeah, there was a lot of wide receiver talk yesterday,
- 8:03Speaker 1: but the wide receivers were on tap yesterday, right, So
- 8:05Speaker 1: that's why I understand that. Yeah, um, you know a
- 8:09Speaker 1: lot of a lot of bigger guys, like six three guys. Um.
- 8:12Speaker 1: You know, Traylan Burkes is a guy that a lot
- 8:14Speaker 1: of people. I don't think he'll get to the Patriots.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I think he'll be gone before then. But he is
- 8:18Speaker 1: another one that met with the Patriots. Yeah. Yeah, jan
- 8:22Speaker 1: Dale Robinson is more of a slot type guy. Likes
- 8:25Speaker 1: Deebo Samuel A lot of Debo talk at this combine.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I don't know if you've picked up on that. You know,
- 8:29Speaker 1: the flavor of the month is Debo and I loved
- 8:31Speaker 1: I think debo right now with Tom Brady quote unquote retired,
- 8:36Speaker 1: I think Deebo Samuels the best football player in the NFL.
- 8:39Speaker 1: How about that? So you think Tom Brady was the
- 8:41Speaker 1: best football player in the NFL as opposed to the
- 8:43Speaker 1: best quarterback. I think he was the best player in
- 8:45Speaker 1: the NFL. Now I think Deebo Samuel might be. I
- 8:49Speaker 1: mean it's crazy. I mean that's crazy. Yeah, if you
- 8:52Speaker 1: think that. If you want to tell me Deebo Samuel
- 8:54Speaker 1: is a better football player than Aaron Rodgers but not
- 8:59Speaker 1: Tom Brady, I think that's crazy. Okay, Now I think
- 9:02Speaker 1: Deebo Samuels a better football player. I would agree with you,
- 9:05Speaker 1: like all all around football player. Yeah, I would agree
- 9:08Speaker 1: with you. I don't know how you making an exception
- 9:10Speaker 1: for Brady. I just love Brady was so good at
- 9:12Speaker 1: his position that he's just the best player in the
- 9:15Speaker 1: It was so good at his position that he didn't
- 9:16Speaker 1: get MVP over another guy at his position. It's not
- 9:19Speaker 1: my fault. That's not my fault. No, but I'm saying
- 9:21Speaker 1: that's at least evidence that it was really close. Yeah, right, um,
- 9:25Speaker 1: but I would have given it to Brad. I think
- 9:26Speaker 1: I think Rob Samuel is the best football player in
- 9:28Speaker 1: the NFL. I think you're right, it could. I think
- 9:31Speaker 1: there's an argument for that. I that's another freend take.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Especially with that I kind of like, especially with his
- 9:37Speaker 1: very and just his attitude and just toughness and oh
- 9:41Speaker 1: I love him. Should be a Patriot, Should be a Patriot.
- 9:44Speaker 1: And the kid Robinson out of Kentucky one Dale Robinson.
- 9:47Speaker 1: That's the way he tries to play, he considers himself
- 9:50Speaker 1: he's played some running back, which is why they've gotten
- 9:53Speaker 1: that comparison. But he says he likes to try to act.
- 9:57Speaker 1: He tries to be a running back once he gets
- 9:59Speaker 1: the all in his hands. Yeah, at all times. But
- 10:02Speaker 1: back to your point about you know, the wide receivers
- 10:04Speaker 1: were on tap, so that's why they were the topic yesterday.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Somebody said, you know, Patriots have talked to a lot
- 10:10Speaker 1: of wide receivers in Andy, big Head tweeted out, I
- 10:14Speaker 1: think it'd be news if they didn't talk to a
- 10:16Speaker 1: lot of why and they're gonna And also, I mean
- 10:19Speaker 1: the only thing that would sort of raise an eyebrow
- 10:22Speaker 1: to me is if I found out they talked to
- 10:23Speaker 1: all the quarterbacks, right, Like, they're gonna talk to a
- 10:26Speaker 1: lot of offensive linemen. Yeah, they're gonna talk to a
- 10:28Speaker 1: lot of defensive linemen and linebackers. They're gonna talk to
- 10:31Speaker 1: a lot of cornerbacks, like they're gonna talk to a
- 10:34Speaker 1: lot of players, right, yeah, right, every day there are
- 10:37Speaker 1: a lot of players available. Yep, you're gonna talk to
- 10:39Speaker 1: whoever's there. Some of them are gonna be formal meetings.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Some of them gonna just be uh, you know, by chance,
- 10:45Speaker 1: can I tell a great story. But by the way,
- 10:47Speaker 1: just we're watching the CONTA and right now they've got
- 10:50Speaker 1: some drills. This is from eighteen, but they're showing the
- 10:52Speaker 1: quarterback and wide receiver drills. Yeah, this is the one
- 10:55Speaker 1: thing I would eliminate, Like I wouldn't eliminate the measurement type,
- 10:59Speaker 1: even the hone drill that we make fun of, the forty,
- 11:02Speaker 1: the hand measurements, the vertical leap. I wouldn't eliminate any
- 11:06Speaker 1: of that because it's but that one is useless. Guy's
- 11:10Speaker 1: going out for passes with it's no defense. No, you know,
- 11:14Speaker 1: it's it's useless. I don't want to see how a
- 11:17Speaker 1: guy throws with the under the watchful eyes of I mean,
- 11:20Speaker 1: watches tape. I just think just I don't know, I honestly,
- 11:27Speaker 1: I don't know. That's why I mean a lot of
- 11:28Speaker 1: these guys don't work out. Yeah, I think that's the
- 11:32Speaker 1: one drill I would get rid of everything else. A
- 11:35Speaker 1: lot of the guys don't work out with the combine. Yeah,
- 11:38Speaker 1: they don't, yeah anything. They don't do the lifting. They
- 11:41Speaker 1: don't like even lifting. Okay, how many times can you
- 11:45Speaker 1: bench press to twenty five? That's apples to apples comparison
- 11:49Speaker 1: with other people. You know. So when I was on
- 11:52Speaker 1: my show on Sunday with Ted Johnson, he told we
- 11:56Speaker 1: were talking about the Combine a little bit, and he
- 11:58Speaker 1: told a great combine story. You know, he came out
- 12:01Speaker 1: in ninety five and you know he went to the
- 12:04Speaker 1: he went to the Combine and Indie and he's walking
- 12:06Speaker 1: through and he said he had some meetings with various teams,
- 12:10Speaker 1: and you know, he had an idea that he was
- 12:14Speaker 1: sort of uh, you know, end of the first maximum,
- 12:19Speaker 1: but more likely he thought he would be a second
- 12:21Speaker 1: round pick when he went in and talked to a
- 12:24Speaker 1: lot of different teams and was walking one day walking
- 12:27Speaker 1: you know those halls that they show all the time,
- 12:29Speaker 1: you see them on TV when they show the guys
- 12:31Speaker 1: walking from building to building within those tunnels, and he
- 12:35Speaker 1: was just walking in a coach from a team just
- 12:38Speaker 1: grabbed him by the arm and said, hey, you got
- 12:40Speaker 1: a minute, took him off to the side. They went
- 12:43Speaker 1: into a stairwell and he started drilling them like on
- 12:47Speaker 1: cover two and you know this and that, what do
- 12:49Speaker 1: you do? Like basically like it was a meeting and
- 12:52Speaker 1: it was at the board. Yeah, but he wanted to
- 12:55Speaker 1: get him without preparation, like right, yeah, well I was.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I think it was Bill Bill. I check Bill Belichick. Yeah,
- 13:03Speaker 1: I go rules to him. Well I was, I mean
- 13:07Speaker 1: I was talking from the record, you would you would
- 13:10Speaker 1: talking about no Socks. And one of the reasons he's
- 13:12Speaker 1: out there is we're gathering footage for um uh do
- 13:16Speaker 1: your job piece that we're going to do one scouting
- 13:18Speaker 1: in the combine, and so we're getting access to some
- 13:21Speaker 1: places that we don't normally get access to, like the
- 13:25Speaker 1: room that they interview them in, the medical rooms, things
- 13:28Speaker 1: like that. And Matt no Socks was saying that the
- 13:31Speaker 1: Patriots and I'm sure other teams do to have people
- 13:34Speaker 1: like out in the hallway to make sure that guys
- 13:37Speaker 1: that have scheduled interviews get into the interview room, like
- 13:40Speaker 1: they're looking out for them and dragging them in because
- 13:43Speaker 1: he's still just kids. They don't know where they're going.
- 13:46Speaker 1: So like there's people like ushering, come on, come on
- 13:49Speaker 1: this way, you know. I wonder that's interesting because you
- 13:55Speaker 1: wonder if that would be part of the test to
- 13:58Speaker 1: see if you see time, if you're on time him,
- 14:00Speaker 1: if you're diligent, if you're early, if you you know,
- 14:02Speaker 1: are conscientious about finding about where you're supposed to be,
- 14:05Speaker 1: and if you're not, that could be a checkmark against you. Yeah,
- 14:09Speaker 1: but at the same time, you don't you want to
- 14:11Speaker 1: use your time efficiently, so you want to be waiting
- 14:13Speaker 1: for some kid for five minutes, you know. But yeah,
- 14:16Speaker 1: I'm I mean, yeah, I do that. Every little thing
- 14:20Speaker 1: can out there, yep, yep. So, but that's the most
- 14:24Speaker 1: important part of the combine, is that face to face
- 14:26Speaker 1: media in the medical And that's why I think it's
- 14:28Speaker 1: interesting that some of the coaches have decided not to
- 14:30Speaker 1: go UM and some of the teams have you know,
- 14:34Speaker 1: left that part of it up to the position coaches
- 14:37Speaker 1: and personnel departments and whatnot. Like Robert Salid. Yeah, boy,
- 14:40Speaker 1: you like Robert Sali. He did he was there. I know,
- 14:43Speaker 1: he did a zoom call. Oh he's not he's not
- 14:47Speaker 1: there all right, Um, and now I don't know if
- 14:50Speaker 1: that's going to change or you know, to be honest
- 14:52Speaker 1: with you, I know he did a zoom call and
- 14:54Speaker 1: I was told that he him and Joe Dougas weren't there.
- 14:58Speaker 1: But maybe they did a zoom call from so we're
- 15:00Speaker 1: an indie for all I know. I don't know. But
- 15:01Speaker 1: you know, like if you have a lot of private
- 15:04Speaker 1: workouts planned, you know, like if you have thirty forty
- 15:07Speaker 1: private workouts plan where you're gonna bring guys in or
- 15:09Speaker 1: go there, then maybe you say, I don't need to
- 15:12Speaker 1: go to the combine. I'm gonna I got my own
- 15:14Speaker 1: meeting scheduled with these guys I'm interested in. I just
- 15:16Speaker 1: don't know why you would shut off one potential, right.
- 15:20Speaker 1: It's like Bill says, it's all a piece of the puzzle.
- 15:22Speaker 1: You know. I don't know his Bill there, No, but
- 15:25Speaker 1: I know he's not there. But he has like he's
- 15:27Speaker 1: rarely like he hardly goes there. Right, No, he goes,
- 15:31Speaker 1: but he doesn't always, Yeah, speak well, he doesn't, but
- 15:35Speaker 1: but he I think twenty years, I think he's only
- 15:39Speaker 1: been there a handful of times. Right, Oh, No, I
- 15:41Speaker 1: know he goes. I think he doesn't. He goes. He
- 15:43Speaker 1: just doesn't do the formal interface. Is he there now?
- 15:46Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know if he's there now, but
- 15:48Speaker 1: I would imagine. I mean, everyone remembers the famous one
- 15:52Speaker 1: of him sitting with the popcorn watching the drills from
- 15:55Speaker 1: the from the suite. Right, he usually goes on NFL
- 15:59Speaker 1: network too, with his buddies. Yeah that's true, eyes in
- 16:02Speaker 1: and yeah, yeah, back, that's true. Yeah yeah, And they
- 16:05Speaker 1: give him a check for his foundation, right, yeah, Well
- 16:08Speaker 1: it's the other way around. Bill gives a check to
- 16:10Speaker 1: rich Eisen's thing from his bill's. Oh I don't know
- 16:15Speaker 1: where it's from, but Bill's bill is giving to all right, um, yeah,
- 16:21Speaker 1: So that's what's going on at the combine that we
- 16:24Speaker 1: know of, but we're eagerly waiting Deuce's uh combine first. Yeah,
- 16:28Speaker 1: and I'm not surprised. I'm just looking over fred shoulder
- 16:31Speaker 1: at the phone banks are started, and number one is
- 16:35Speaker 1: is Eldrid. And on a day when we're talking about
- 16:38Speaker 1: this has to be like Nirvana for Willem and Philham yep, right,
- 16:44Speaker 1: Rashad in Baltimore and Eldred who I think those are
- 16:48Speaker 1: the three that consistently call us, especially Eldred team team
- 16:52Speaker 1: wide out. And there's a lot of guys that we're
- 16:55Speaker 1: hearing about. You know, Traylan Burks looks like he's another
- 16:58Speaker 1: guy the Patriots of heat. It just doesn't just don't
- 17:01Speaker 1: look like he's going to be available. Just gonna make
- 17:03Speaker 1: it all the more disappointing for them when they take
- 17:05Speaker 1: that offensive. But Chris Olave is a guy that probably
- 17:08Speaker 1: will still be on the board at He's a good
- 17:11Speaker 1: player and he will run a great time too. Tonight
- 17:14Speaker 1: another Patriots news. Did I hear that Edelman is doing
- 17:17Speaker 1: some sort of gambling show now or like for fun entertainment?
- 17:21Speaker 1: Not here about this? No, Oh, I thought, like on
- 17:24Speaker 1: your show this morning, the bank roll boys were they on, Well,
- 17:28Speaker 1: the lipshits guy was just ranting about, um, you know
- 17:33Speaker 1: people who are doing it for fun and you know,
- 17:36Speaker 1: luring people to gamble and they're losing their money and
- 17:38Speaker 1: he was just leave it to the professionals, and I
- 17:41Speaker 1: thought he mentioned Edelman was doing something. I don't know
- 17:43Speaker 1: about Edelman in regard to that, but there was something
- 17:46Speaker 1: that I saw and now I can't remember the company.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I'd like to criticize the company. They have these um
- 17:55Speaker 1: like special promotions where they're offering people like if you
- 18:01Speaker 1: sign up and put three thousand in your bank, they'll
- 18:05Speaker 1: match the three thousand and give you an extra three thousand, right,
- 18:08Speaker 1: So like that's like, well, that's bad. That's a bad
- 18:12Speaker 1: bad And also the other good point that he made
- 18:15Speaker 1: is if a if a guy, if an expert works
- 18:20Speaker 1: for the sports book and it's telling you how to bet,
- 18:24Speaker 1: that's a conflict of interest because it's in the sports books.
- 18:27Speaker 1: That's interest for you to lose, right, right, So why
- 18:30Speaker 1: would you be taking advice from the guy who works
- 18:33Speaker 1: for the sports book? You know? Yeah, I just think
- 18:37Speaker 1: that you can go down a slippery slope when you're
- 18:39Speaker 1: offering financial incentives or people to sign up for your
- 18:43Speaker 1: gambling site, right. I don't think that's like listen, I am.
- 18:48Speaker 1: It's like a credit card company, right, you know, we'll
- 18:51Speaker 1: we'll give you your first three thousand. It's like they
- 18:54Speaker 1: know that you're gonna spend it and you're gonna owe
- 18:56Speaker 1: them interest. Right, But at least you're buying things ostensibly
- 19:00Speaker 1: that you need. Yeah, yeah, if you're not gambling, right, yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 1: you know. I mean, and again I'm of the mind that.
- 19:08Speaker 1: You know, we're all big kids, and we all make
- 19:11Speaker 1: choices and decisions and we should be responsible for them. Like, so,
- 19:15Speaker 1: if you decide to get into gambling, which you know
- 19:18Speaker 1: a lot of people do, right, if you know, if
- 19:19Speaker 1: you take the device of some guy pulling it out
- 19:21Speaker 1: of a hat, that's your fault. No, but I'm saying
- 19:23Speaker 1: if you decide to sign up for a gambling site
- 19:26Speaker 1: and it goes back, I mean, ultimately that's on you.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I just think that some of these companies might be
- 19:32Speaker 1: better off, you know, not necessarily going out of their
- 19:36Speaker 1: way to offer that kind of financial incentive to get
- 19:39Speaker 1: their hooks and people. It's it's it's gonna be. It's
- 19:42Speaker 1: gonna get even more competitive than it is now. And
- 19:44Speaker 1: at some point, Massachusetts is going to be legal like
- 19:47Speaker 1: everybody else. We hope. I don't know, we'll see. I
- 19:50Speaker 1: don't know what's holding it up here. I got it.
- 19:53Speaker 1: I got March Madness coming up pretty soon. Yeah, I
- 19:57Speaker 1: was around that. There ways around that for me. I don't.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I don't do that. I don't. I don't know. If
- 20:03Speaker 1: I've been away along never, I've never really done it.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I'm like, I get into pools and stuff, but pools.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Back in the eighties we did it. We had not
- 20:11Speaker 1: regular gamboy. We bet on sports too hard. When I
- 20:15Speaker 1: lived at the Men's Club on com Av. You lived
- 20:17Speaker 1: at the Men's Club, Ye, the Gentlemen's Club, or it
- 20:20Speaker 1: was called the men that's what we called it was
- 20:21Speaker 1: the Men's Club, and you lived there. It was our apartment.
- 20:24Speaker 1: We called it the Men's you know what I call No,
- 20:30Speaker 1: it was it was this like six bedroom apartment on
- 20:33Speaker 1: comm Av. Six bedroom. It was a big It was
- 20:37Speaker 1: a big apartment, you know, so like a bu apartment.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Um no, it was just a regular six bedroom. Yeah,
- 20:43Speaker 1: it was huge and um over. I might have lived
- 20:48Speaker 1: there like four years, five years. And over those four
- 20:51Speaker 1: or five years, I can't even count the amount of
- 20:53Speaker 1: people who rotated through that place, like the amount of
- 20:56Speaker 1: different roommates we had. Yeah, yeah, but you were the instant.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I was the constant. Yeah yeah, wow, Man's club president.
- 21:04Speaker 1: So that's what we called it, the Men's Club. It's
- 21:06Speaker 1: not just the Men's club president. He's also a client.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. Yeah. One night we put one night we
- 21:12Speaker 1: put posters up at I think it was Simmons College
- 21:15Speaker 1: was an all girls college, and that we have been
- 21:18Speaker 1: having a party at the men's club, so all no.
- 21:22Speaker 1: So it worked. It worked like there was Yeah, it
- 21:26Speaker 1: was a steady stream and we were like, holy crap,
- 21:29Speaker 1: we gotta get some guys here because they're gonna leave,
- 21:32Speaker 1: you know, there was it was all women, you know,
- 21:34Speaker 1: so like we're calling up fred you gotta get over here.
- 21:36Speaker 1: It was funny. A lot of stories from the men's stories,
- 21:40Speaker 1: A lot of stories from the men's club anyway, Freddy
- 21:44Speaker 1: five five pats five Jake Steele or something, that's where
- 21:49Speaker 1: it started. Five five pats five hundred is the A
- 21:52Speaker 1: Sticket hotline web radio at pictures dot com is the
- 21:55Speaker 1: email address Eldred's. We we mentioned his name, Let's go
- 21:59Speaker 1: to him. He's from North Carolina in his truck. What's up? Hey,
- 22:04Speaker 1: So looks how y'all doing good? Y'all y'all keep me laughing.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I listened to y'all fair or whatever. Y'all crazy? That's true. Yeah, yeah,
- 22:13Speaker 1: but yeah, you're right. Receiver wise, I'm just so I
- 22:17Speaker 1: hope they picked but knowing Bill ain't. But I kind
- 22:19Speaker 1: of question if Bill isn't at the combine, who's who's
- 22:23Speaker 1: he gonna listen to? Because besides the coach from from
- 22:29Speaker 1: Detroit that we got back Patricia or somebody else because
- 22:33Speaker 1: that new Scout guy we got you think he attrected opinion. Yeah.
- 22:38Speaker 1: First of all, I just I just want to stay.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I don't know if Bill is there or not, so,
- 22:43Speaker 1: so I don't want to tell you I'm not Patriots
- 22:46Speaker 1: unfiltered as not reporting that that Bill is not there.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I have no idea if he's there, I can tell
- 22:51Speaker 1: you I saw Matt Patricia here yesterday, so he ain't.
- 22:55Speaker 1: So so if he's not there yet, ye out there yet, right,
- 22:59Speaker 1: And if he's to be involved on offense, you think
- 23:01Speaker 1: he'd be there now, right. Yeah. But the great news
- 23:06Speaker 1: I'm hoping they're dude springing up. They had a good
- 23:11Speaker 1: offense court. Yeah, it's not a this is not a
- 23:17Speaker 1: news drop. We're not teasing any kind of announcement. So
- 23:20Speaker 1: this is just a uh off off off something to
- 23:25Speaker 1: do with someone got drunk or whatever. Yeah. But but Paul, yes, sir,
- 23:32Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Um I didn't I didn't hear the first part.
- 23:36Speaker 1: But I would franchise JC yeah and trade him, try
- 23:42Speaker 1: to get a two in three. Yeah, I mean great,
- 23:45Speaker 1: I mean if you could do that that that's great,
- 23:47Speaker 1: but I'm all for that, Like I want to franchise
- 23:50Speaker 1: him and use him. I would add to fly be
- 23:52Speaker 1: in favor of trading him for two yeah, two solid
- 23:56Speaker 1: draft because now you got to two second round picks,
- 24:00Speaker 1: two third round yea, yeah, now I can do some things, right.
- 24:03Speaker 1: I agree that I would be a good trade, and
- 24:05Speaker 1: I haven't lost my first round pick. I don't think
- 24:07Speaker 1: you can get that for jac I don't think so either,
- 24:09Speaker 1: but I would you can if you could, I would
- 24:11Speaker 1: definitely be in fact, you get on the phone work
- 24:13Speaker 1: on that. And the reason why I would be skeptical
- 24:15Speaker 1: of it is not necessarily because of J. C. Jackson.
- 24:18Speaker 1: But we talked about on Tuesday. It's Jac Jackson and
- 24:21Speaker 1: a contract, Right, that's a lot the other team's given,
- 24:25Speaker 1: you know, has got to give to, you know, so
- 24:28Speaker 1: now you're asking, in addition to that, to give up
- 24:31Speaker 1: you know, two high drafts. However, our buddy, uh uh,
- 24:35Speaker 1: Mike Giardi did report from out there that he was
- 24:38Speaker 1: speaking with NFL types who said that there was going
- 24:40Speaker 1: to be an aggressive something like an aggressive market. I
- 24:43Speaker 1: can't remember his exact wording, but that, uh, that there
- 24:47Speaker 1: would be for j c. Jackson. Oh, there's no doubt.
- 24:51Speaker 1: But that's as a free agent. So all I gotta
- 24:53Speaker 1: do is give him a contract. Yep, you know what
- 24:55Speaker 1: I mean. I don't have to give him a contract
- 24:57Speaker 1: in and give third round pick. Yeah. But but to
- 25:00Speaker 1: your point, if it is very aggressive, yeah, maybe a
- 25:03Speaker 1: team wants to and the Patriots holding his rights might
- 25:08Speaker 1: be able to leverage that aggressiveness. Maybe, you know, if
- 25:10Speaker 1: maybe a lot of people bidding for him. Sure, and
- 25:13Speaker 1: if there's a team that really wants him, maybe they'll
- 25:15Speaker 1: go the extra step. It's worth. You know, you're in
- 25:17Speaker 1: the third round pick? Would you do that? I would
- 25:20Speaker 1: do it for a third take a third round pick
- 25:21Speaker 1: for him, yeah, Paul, It's like, I don't know, I
- 25:25Speaker 1: like it might need more. I need the second. I'd
- 25:27Speaker 1: rather get something than nothing, Yeah, even if that's a third. Yeah.
- 25:31Speaker 1: But you know, if if you truly don't want to
- 25:34Speaker 1: pay him, then you are gambling if you do that.
- 25:37Speaker 1: So a couple of team related things that are generating
- 25:39Speaker 1: some attention um in Indie A lot of Nick Kayley talks, Yeah,
- 25:44Speaker 1: a lot of positive vibes. Yeah, And Jim McBride should
- 25:48Speaker 1: handle extra duties with great a plum. Oh, good word,
- 25:52Speaker 1: I know, says Jimmy, because this is the that's what
- 25:54Speaker 1: this people are telling them, this is the message that's
- 25:56Speaker 1: being now. I have nothing. It's Nick Kaylee. I made
- 26:00Speaker 1: a comment about three weeks ago. What do we know
- 26:04Speaker 1: about Josh McDaniels At this time in five we didn't know,
- 26:08Speaker 1: We didn't know what he was going to be. He
- 26:10Speaker 1: went to John Carroll and he was the son of
- 26:12Speaker 1: a coach, so I know, you know, McDaniels had some
- 26:16Speaker 1: nice things to say about Kayley yesterday. I know, GARDI
- 26:19Speaker 1: talked to some people around the league, anonymous people around
- 26:23Speaker 1: the league, and he says he went out of his
- 26:25Speaker 1: way to avoid Fob's friend friends of Bill to get
- 26:29Speaker 1: more of an unbiased look, and a lot of people
- 26:32Speaker 1: spoke highly of him. So I don't know what Nick
- 26:35Speaker 1: Kaylee is as a coach or what he's going to be,
- 26:37Speaker 1: but that that's definitely I would say. You know, someone's
- 26:41Speaker 1: asking now on my station, Fred, is there a pr
- 26:44Speaker 1: push underway to boost the profile of Nick Kayley. I
- 26:47Speaker 1: would say absolutely, yes, Well you know, and this brings
- 26:50Speaker 1: us to me. This is an interesting subject of how
- 26:53Speaker 1: information is transferred among coaches in the league for example, Like, okay,
- 26:59Speaker 1: so Ard, talk to these people who aren't friends of
- 27:01Speaker 1: Bill about Nick Kayley? How do they know? I mean
- 27:05Speaker 1: they aren't here for meetings, Why they aren't here at practice?
- 27:07Speaker 1: How do they know he's good? So? Why why do
- 27:09Speaker 1: you take it like that so first? And everybody's bumbling? No?
- 27:12Speaker 1: But is there right? No? But like, is there an
- 27:15Speaker 1: underground network of information that's like, you know this Nick
- 27:19Speaker 1: Kayley is a good guy and like, and people talk
- 27:21Speaker 1: about each other just like and they do. It's a
- 27:23Speaker 1: it's a small, small fan they That's interesting. I'm always
- 27:28Speaker 1: amazed every time I hear about like two random assistant
- 27:32Speaker 1: coaches and how they work together in nineteen ninety eight
- 27:36Speaker 1: together as uh, you know grad assistance at like Tulsa,
- 27:40Speaker 1: you know, some random connection. Yeah, that it is a
- 27:43Speaker 1: small fraternity of coaches, even like the assistants. Yeah, and
- 27:47Speaker 1: they they cross paths, they know each other. I think
- 27:50Speaker 1: that they sort of commisserate with one another because it's
- 27:54Speaker 1: a you know, those low level assistants. It's it's a
- 27:57Speaker 1: thankless job with a lot of hours. You know, scouts
- 28:00Speaker 1: and whatnot are on the road a lot together. Yeah,
- 28:03Speaker 1: So I do think that a lot of them do
- 28:05Speaker 1: know each other. But I agree with you, like who's
- 28:08Speaker 1: who's to say, how do you know exactly? So you
- 28:11Speaker 1: knew him in college, maybe he's a different guy now,
- 28:13Speaker 1: you know, Like it's it's so hard, but I think
- 28:15Speaker 1: that's that's a good point to bring up though, because
- 28:19Speaker 1: at this time of year, or you know, playoff time,
- 28:22Speaker 1: super Bowl time, when coaches are moving around at the
- 28:27Speaker 1: NFL level, the college level, these guys always land somewhere,
- 28:31Speaker 1: you know, and it's usually pretty quickly. Like there's there's
- 28:34Speaker 1: there's a lot of connections that Paul said. They could
- 28:37Speaker 1: be random, they could be from a decade or two ago,
- 28:40Speaker 1: but you know they see each other at a game,
- 28:42Speaker 1: they talk pre game like that's how they keep these
- 28:45Speaker 1: things alive. And I think that's how that network operates,
- 28:48Speaker 1: you know. Even like even like when we do go
- 28:50Speaker 1: to the things like the combine or the annual meeting,
- 28:53Speaker 1: and like you see people and faces that you recognize
- 28:56Speaker 1: from other teams. You might not necessarily know them personally,
- 29:00Speaker 1: but you know, like, oh, that's the guy from the
- 29:01Speaker 1: Texans or the Broncos, like and like word gets around
- 29:05Speaker 1: you hear other people talking, like other beat reporters from
- 29:08Speaker 1: from other teams. You see them in the press box,
- 29:10Speaker 1: Like it's even that is a small universe too, Like, yeah,
- 29:13Speaker 1: people move around and cover different teams. You're a head coach.
- 29:16Speaker 1: How it works. Just got a new job. You got
- 29:18Speaker 1: a ton of slots to fill, right, It's like who
- 29:20Speaker 1: do we know? Right? That's competent and I can get
- 29:23Speaker 1: in here, and like I trust you? Who do you know?
- 29:26Speaker 1: And you give the recommendation right now? This guy is suddenly.
- 29:30Speaker 1: That is how it works a lot, you know, Like
- 29:32Speaker 1: you you have a guy that you know pretty well.
- 29:33Speaker 1: He's gonna be my offensive coordinude, Hey, Fred, you know
- 29:37Speaker 1: anybody you know? We might need a tight ends coach?
- 29:39Speaker 1: Not anybody? Right, That's how it works. And now yep,
- 29:43Speaker 1: all right, five five pats five hundred is the ace
- 29:46Speaker 1: ticket hutline. Let's get back to the phones. Adams in England?
- 29:49Speaker 1: What's up, Adam gat Right, I'm I'm going to get
- 29:56Speaker 1: ready to incur the wrath of all the other coolers
- 29:59Speaker 1: and stuff. I don't want a first round receiver and
- 30:02Speaker 1: I don't think we should keep JC Jackson, and I'll
- 30:06Speaker 1: tell you why. So I think you guys have said
- 30:09Speaker 1: it before I'd like to think we could find a
- 30:12Speaker 1: receiver on Day two. And personally, and I know I've
- 30:16Speaker 1: said it before, that money that Jackson is going to
- 30:18Speaker 1: get paid, let's just put that back into the team
- 30:21Speaker 1: in other areas and from a draft perspective at twenty one,
- 30:26Speaker 1: I would obviously if polues JC a corner, but also
- 30:29Speaker 1: just some speed at linebacker. I love Devin Lloyd. I
- 30:33Speaker 1: don't know if he's going to be there, but just
- 30:34Speaker 1: gonna hear your best thoughts on that. But yeah, I
- 30:36Speaker 1: think I might be the moody caller no receiver and
- 30:39Speaker 1: no JC Jackson. Yeah, I'm more with you than no.
- 30:43Speaker 1: I would definitely be with you on the receiver part.
- 30:45Speaker 1: I could be sort of swayed on JC Jackson either way.
- 30:49Speaker 1: But Devin Lloyd, that's the guy that Adam suggested. There's
- 30:53Speaker 1: a lot of mark drafts that have had He's a
- 30:55Speaker 1: linebacker out of Utah. Yeah. Um, and he is a
- 30:59Speaker 1: very athletic guy, a little bit more size than some
- 31:02Speaker 1: of the others, but um, you know, he's He's performed
- 31:05Speaker 1: well against the past two so he's a little bit
- 31:07Speaker 1: more well rounded than a lot of the linebackers. The
- 31:09Speaker 1: Patriots a bad. Um, So there's a chance. I mean
- 31:13Speaker 1: there's a lot of mocks that have him at twenty
- 31:15Speaker 1: one of the Patriots. I don't know, I just saw.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I mean it's gonna unu yeah, I mean, believe what
- 31:20Speaker 1: you want with these mock drafts. I mean they're just
- 31:21Speaker 1: people's opinions. But Bucky Brooks, NFL dot com guy, had
- 31:25Speaker 1: his second one come out. He had I think he
- 31:28Speaker 1: had Devin Lloyd at like six, like way up there.
- 31:32Speaker 1: So yeah, I'm kind of with Adam though, like I would, uh,
- 31:36Speaker 1: I would prefer to get a cornerback with that first pick,
- 31:39Speaker 1: regardless number one, regardless of Devin Lloyd drops. You pick Lloyd? Right, Well,
- 31:44Speaker 1: it depends who the corners, right yeah, right, yeah, so
- 31:46Speaker 1: that's I'd rather have a corner if if All right, Adam,
- 31:49Speaker 1: thanks for the car, appreciate it. Um. We spoke about
- 31:52Speaker 1: him before and here he is. William and Phillham. What's up, Willem?
- 31:57Speaker 1: How you doing good? William Penn? I was, I was
- 32:00Speaker 1: just listening to y'all anyway for a while. Whatnot. Um,
- 32:04Speaker 1: I just have two topics and that's this the day.
- 32:07Speaker 1: I just want to talk about the Jason Jackson situation. Uh,
- 32:11Speaker 1: Eric said he would just you know, you want to
- 32:13Speaker 1: get any I guess, get something for him? Why not,
- 32:15Speaker 1: I'd rather do that. Yeah, if you're quite, I'm I'm
- 32:19Speaker 1: with you were dead, But I wouldn't take a third
- 32:21Speaker 1: form would you wouldn't want to take a second or
- 32:23Speaker 1: somebody want to throw a first at you? Yeah? I agree,
- 32:26Speaker 1: second would be my If I'm going to tag him
- 32:29Speaker 1: and trade him, I want a second at least. Yeah.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not gonna settle for like a fifth
- 32:32Speaker 1: to sixth or a seventh, but like, I think the
- 32:35Speaker 1: third third is about as low as I'd be willing
- 32:37Speaker 1: to go if I could get at least. If I
- 32:40Speaker 1: could get at least that i'd be I'd be happy. Okay,
- 32:44Speaker 1: So the second topic is this one's with Paul Okay, um,
- 32:48Speaker 1: if for some reason this player is not getting the
- 32:52Speaker 1: season and really I don't know why they ain't talking
- 32:54Speaker 1: about John because nah Derek Ston Stingley from Oh Yeah,
- 33:02Speaker 1: there's a lot of um, a lot of wide uh
- 33:07Speaker 1: varied opinions on on on Stingley. He was unbelievable as
- 33:10Speaker 1: a true freshman and then had a lot of injuries
- 33:13Speaker 1: the next two years and you know I saw um.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I think it was Todd mcshaye. No, it was Daniel
- 33:20Speaker 1: Jeremiah who said he could see him going in top
- 33:22Speaker 1: ten and he could see him going forty and he
- 33:24Speaker 1: wouldn't be surprised by either one if he if he fall,
- 33:28Speaker 1: if fall, if he falls to you at twenty one
- 33:31Speaker 1: and you have a choice between him or I guess,
- 33:34Speaker 1: oh devn Lloyd or whatever, would you take him? And
- 33:37Speaker 1: if you take him, I would take Stingley even after
- 33:41Speaker 1: his even after his envy. Didn't he have a towny cel.
- 33:45Speaker 1: I don't think he had a torny. I think he
- 33:46Speaker 1: had a uh, I don't have it in front of
- 33:49Speaker 1: me now. I don't think it was a Towny a
- 33:51Speaker 1: c L. But um, yeah, I will say just William,
- 33:55Speaker 1: I would just say if the medical checked out, as
- 33:59Speaker 1: long as the the reason he's dropping, If it's just
- 34:01Speaker 1: because of the medical, then I'm you know, I'm a
- 34:04Speaker 1: little bit more scared of of doing that. But if
- 34:09Speaker 1: if he's dropping because he was wildly inconsistent and that
- 34:12Speaker 1: was you, then I would take a chance because I
- 34:15Speaker 1: think he's got a lot of talent. I think the
- 34:17Speaker 1: talent is okay, I would hear I would fear him
- 34:21Speaker 1: with if we kept jac Jackson a tag on you.
- 34:23Speaker 1: If we did, yeah, that would be I guess that
- 34:25Speaker 1: would be cool to hear him with him, but depending
- 34:28Speaker 1: on like you said, like his medical now, but that's it.
- 34:30Speaker 1: I was, Yeah, I like Stigling, thankful, but I am
- 34:33Speaker 1: definitely clouded by that. I think it was twenty nineteen season,
- 34:37Speaker 1: like he was really good. Let's go to Todd, North Carolina. Hey, Todd, Todd, Todd, Todd, Todd, Todd,
- 34:47Speaker 1: this is when you and I are supposed to talk
- 34:48Speaker 1: under Yeah, Todd, you're there, Todd there, No, No, no, Todd,
- 34:54Speaker 1: He'll call back. I'm all right. So this is an
- 34:56Speaker 1: interesting trivia question came across. I thought it was interesting
- 35:00Speaker 1: to have a game coming up. Let's see if Eric
- 35:03Speaker 1: a history buff? Are you a history buff? Sure? All right?
- 35:07Speaker 1: The history this is from um who sent this in.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I don't know it's world history or a football history food.
- 35:16Speaker 1: I don't know who came up with this trivia question,
- 35:18Speaker 1: but it's the toughest one I've ever seen. Five schools
- 35:21Speaker 1: have produced a Super Bowl winning quarterback and a US president.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Name the schools, the president, and the quarterbacks. In one instance,
- 35:29Speaker 1: there are two quarterbacks, but you only have to name
- 35:31Speaker 1: one five schools that produce a Super Bowl winning quarterback.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I can't name you the guys, but I'm going to
- 35:40Speaker 1: get Stanford is one of them. Stanford is one of them.
- 35:43Speaker 1: I could tell you el you know Elway and Jim
- 35:45Speaker 1: Plunk quarterbacks. I can't tell you the president president with
- 35:49Speaker 1: the Stanford. I'll give you the University of me Chigan
- 35:52Speaker 1: with Gerald Ford one of them. So Stanford is Herbert Hoover, Okay,
- 35:59Speaker 1: and in plunk In Okay, now three more more? Okay,
- 36:03Speaker 1: super Bowl winning quarterback. I assume they mean super Bowl
- 36:06Speaker 1: winning starting quarterback, not like this isn't gonna be like
- 36:09Speaker 1: one of those guys like these were all starting quarters Okay, yeah, okay, yeah,
- 36:13Speaker 1: um wasn't like Brian Hoyer and right, Well, because I'm thinking,
- 36:18Speaker 1: like you got to think of like the Ivy League schools,
- 36:20Speaker 1: like were there any like backup quarterbacks? Like I was
- 36:22Speaker 1: thinking Ryan Fitzpatrick. Was he ever on yeah team? But
- 36:24Speaker 1: he was on every team on thirty of thirty two teams, right,
- 36:28Speaker 1: and they all lose? Right, So we got Michigan, we
- 36:31Speaker 1: got stand f boy. Wow, come on, now I'm thinking
- 36:35Speaker 1: that there's one that once you get it, you'd be like,
- 36:40Speaker 1: oh yeah, the other two are hard I think. Okay,
- 36:43Speaker 1: hold on a second. Biden went to Delaware. Right, very good,
- 36:50Speaker 1: very good. Two more that wasn't even the one I
- 36:52Speaker 1: was thinking of. So that's okay, So there's two more.
- 36:55Speaker 1: The other one you'll be like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 36:59Speaker 1: want a hint. Okay, let's see what what could be
- 37:04Speaker 1: a good hint? Um? The quarterback was a scrambler. I
- 37:14Speaker 1: thought you couldn't win if you had a mobile quarterback back.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Then oh you could win more back and then oh
- 37:21Speaker 1: yeah I get it. Navy, Yeah, and uh a little help.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Who came out of Navy as a president? Dwight Nope,
- 37:38Speaker 1: Jimmy Carter. Oh damn yes he did. That's stupid. One
- 37:44Speaker 1: more and I think this is the toughest. Um. This
- 37:48Speaker 1: is a real tough one. Maybe even just go I mean,
- 37:52Speaker 1: why don't you. I'll give you the state? Okay, Ohio?
- 37:57Speaker 1: The state is Ohio? U Ben Roethlisberger. What school did
- 38:07Speaker 1: he go to? Um? Miami of Ohio? Right? William Howard
- 38:12Speaker 1: Taft now, same era, same you know, um Warren Harding.
- 38:20Speaker 1: That was gonna be my second guess. Um name in
- 38:23Speaker 1: common is a hint common name Ben Roethlisberger, Benjamin Harrison,
- 38:29Speaker 1: Benjamin Harrison. Yeah, wow, yeah, Miami of Ohio. Some unusual
- 38:35Speaker 1: is that? That is a very good thank you? Who
- 38:37Speaker 1: is this a tas? I don't know? Was excellent question,
- 38:41Speaker 1: just grinded the show to a halt. I enjoyed it immensely.
- 38:45Speaker 1: I loved that. Excellent. I'm not at my solf for
- 38:48Speaker 1: not getting the Jimmy Carter one though. That is an
- 38:50Speaker 1: obscribed because you don't associate him, you forget. You do
- 38:53Speaker 1: it in the navy, right. I would have just thought
- 38:55Speaker 1: he didn't go to college. He was just a pen.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Come on, come on now, paul Um Todd in North Carolina.
- 39:02Speaker 1: That's not right Todd in North Carolina. Okay, So I'm
- 39:08Speaker 1: a little confused about the tenders because you can tender
- 39:11Speaker 1: at different levels, Like, yes, there's chicken tenders. Why do
- 39:15Speaker 1: first I think he was choking himself to death earlier,
- 39:22Speaker 1: choking some chickens? All right? Anyway, with the tenders, you
- 39:27Speaker 1: can put it like for a first round or second round.
- 39:29Speaker 1: There's a right, there's franchise tag, there's there's also there's
- 39:34Speaker 1: the non exclusive franchise tag, there's the exclusive franchise tag,
- 39:38Speaker 1: there's the transition tag. Then there are the uh restricted
- 39:42Speaker 1: free agent tenders where you can go with you're talking
- 39:44Speaker 1: about restricted free agent right, Yeah, like Jacob Jacoby Myers. Yeah,
- 39:50Speaker 1: exactly what they could do with Jacoby Myers. I was
- 39:52Speaker 1: wondering if they tendered him for a second, if somebody
- 39:54Speaker 1: would be interested or not, or if that would be
- 39:57Speaker 1: even what we if that would be acceptable comp insation
- 40:00Speaker 1: for him. My guess is that if we tender him
- 40:03Speaker 1: at a second, my guess is that would be enough
- 40:05Speaker 1: to scare off teams signing probably. Yeah, Okay, that was
- 40:09Speaker 1: kind of what I was wanting because I was trying
- 40:10Speaker 1: to figure out we've only got I know, I know
- 40:12Speaker 1: Eric probably loves it, but I know we only got
- 40:14Speaker 1: six picks, so rather than the trading out of the
- 40:18Speaker 1: first round to get more, which I know would make
- 40:20Speaker 1: Eric crazy, I was trying to figure out how the
- 40:22Speaker 1: best way they could go about getting extra picks, and
- 40:25Speaker 1: I you know, I was trying to I didn't know
- 40:27Speaker 1: enough of what those tags to be able to well.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I mean, we just talked about one with a tagging
- 40:31Speaker 1: J C. Jackson and finding a trading partner. Then if
- 40:34Speaker 1: you get like in the ideal situation we talked about,
- 40:36Speaker 1: if you get a second and a third from another team,
- 40:38Speaker 1: now suddenly you've got, you know, a lot. Myers is
- 40:41Speaker 1: a guy you could probably get a draft pick for.
- 40:42Speaker 1: I don't know if you could get a second for him,
- 40:45Speaker 1: but if you wanted to just try to work out
- 40:47Speaker 1: a deal for him, I think you could. I think
- 40:50Speaker 1: you could probably get someone to give you a draft pick,
- 40:52Speaker 1: A mid round pick's productive. But I don't want to
- 40:56Speaker 1: trade him. Yeah, I think I think we need to.
- 41:00Speaker 1: We need the draft capital. I think we need. There's
- 41:03Speaker 1: so many needs that I just don't think it's it'd
- 41:07Speaker 1: be worthwhile keeping. I think we could just keep building. Well,
- 41:10Speaker 1: here we got the receiver. And here's the thing though, Todd,
- 41:13Speaker 1: they don't have a lot of money to spend this
- 41:15Speaker 1: year either, so like you can't necessarily afford to have
- 41:19Speaker 1: like a you know, twelve or thirteen pick draft class
- 41:23Speaker 1: and try to get free agents and undrafted rookie free agents. Like,
- 41:27Speaker 1: there's only so much they can do, which is why
- 41:29Speaker 1: I think this might be a year where they're forced
- 41:31Speaker 1: to have only a limited amount of draft picks and
- 41:34Speaker 1: draft capital, and they might have to rely on some
- 41:36Speaker 1: of these players that have been on the team for
- 41:38Speaker 1: a year or two and havn't got much playing time. Well,
- 41:41Speaker 1: I didn't think they would be able to really get
- 41:42Speaker 1: anybody in free agency, was my thoughts. Well, they can't.
- 41:45Speaker 1: They can, but it's not gonna be like last year.
- 41:47Speaker 1: I don't think it's gonna be a yeah bonanza like
- 41:49Speaker 1: it was last season. But I think it might be
- 41:51Speaker 1: one of those years where they're free agents. Are their
- 41:54Speaker 1: own guys that they resigned could be you know, yeah,
- 41:57Speaker 1: but I would I would take that. I think they're
- 41:59Speaker 1: gonna lose more than they're gonna be sign Oh yeah,
- 42:01Speaker 1: they're not going to sign them all for sure. And lastly,
- 42:04Speaker 1: I agree with the guy from England. I really Adam
- 42:07Speaker 1: trade JC, get get what you can and you know,
- 42:11Speaker 1: I don't. Yeah, I totally agree with him. I don't
- 42:13Speaker 1: want to see a receiver early. I think you can
- 42:14Speaker 1: get one later on in the draft. I would really
- 42:16Speaker 1: like defense. Well yeah, though, so there is another you know,
- 42:23Speaker 1: and Todd just reminded me of another sort of Patriot
- 42:26Speaker 1: like nugget at the combine, Andy Isabella, your old friend Fred.
- 42:32Speaker 1: He has requested permission and been granted permission to seek
- 42:36Speaker 1: a trade. He is entering the last year of his
- 42:38Speaker 1: rookie deal in Arizona. UM. Despite the fact that Fred uh,
- 42:42Speaker 1: you know, was adamant to me a couple of years
- 42:44Speaker 1: ago that he made a lot of big plays, he's
- 42:46Speaker 1: done nothing in three years with the cards and is
- 42:50Speaker 1: upset about the fact that he barely plays. And oh Isabella. Okay,
- 42:57Speaker 1: so goodbye to Gunner and you're bringing Isabella. But who
- 43:00Speaker 1: you're trading for him? Give him? You're not going to
- 43:02Speaker 1: be able to give him a fifth round pick, give
- 43:04Speaker 1: him to Kill Harry? Yeah you could. Yeah, a lot
- 43:07Speaker 1: of people want to trade Harry for him. I do that,
- 43:10Speaker 1: and certainly I would trade, like I think you could
- 43:12Speaker 1: trade a six seventh round pick for Isabella. Yeah, I
- 43:15Speaker 1: do that. Ni Kill played in Arizona for college. Isabella
- 43:19Speaker 1: played in Massachusetts. It makes perfect sense now, Isabella did
- 43:21Speaker 1: play his college ball at U mass I don't know
- 43:23Speaker 1: if that means he wants to play for the Patriots,
- 43:26Speaker 1: and everybody wants to play for the Patriots. We talked
- 43:29Speaker 1: about this, and I know that you got mad at me,
- 43:33Speaker 1: but I'm gonna say it again. I don't think it
- 43:36Speaker 1: would be a very wise choice for receivers entering the
- 43:38Speaker 1: last year or their deal to embrace this as there.
- 43:41Speaker 1: But I want him also as a punt returner. Why
- 43:45Speaker 1: and the kick returner because he's fast. Okay, so that
- 43:48Speaker 1: means he's good at that. Yeah, I saw him return
- 43:51Speaker 1: one when one his first year with this is like,
- 43:54Speaker 1: it's unbelievable. The guy has literally done nothing. Like a
- 43:58Speaker 1: lot of people would go on with Harry for Isabella stats.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Look up his stats Isabella. Okay, I will as I'm
- 44:04Speaker 1: talking not just as a receiver, but I'm just I'm
- 44:07Speaker 1: just explaining to you that I I think Andy Isabella
- 44:12Speaker 1: would be a good sort of you know, you never
- 44:15Speaker 1: know kind of a move take take a flyer, So
- 44:19Speaker 1: I have no problem a flyer has not helped us
- 44:22Speaker 1: in the passing game whatsoever. Andy Isabella hasn't helped Arizona
- 44:26Speaker 1: in the passing look up stating that. But I would
- 44:33Speaker 1: rather than have a guy who's entering the last year.
- 44:36Speaker 1: This is the one thing with Calvin Ridley that sort
- 44:38Speaker 1: of causes me some pause. You get a guy in
- 44:41Speaker 1: the last year. I want guys that can grow with
- 44:43Speaker 1: mac Jones, that are going to be here for a while,
- 44:46Speaker 1: So maybe you can convince Isabella to stay if if
- 44:49Speaker 1: it works out, so Andy Isabella. Okay. Two nineteen nine
- 44:54Speaker 1: catches for one hundred and eighty nine yards and a touchdown,
- 44:57Speaker 1: already better than Gunner two thous in twenty twenty one
- 45:01Speaker 1: catches for two hundred and twenty four yards, two touchdowns.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Love it twenty twenty one one catch for thirteen he
- 45:07Speaker 1: hurt no touchdowns? Incorrect, it was a healthy scratch. Okay?
- 45:11Speaker 1: What about what about his special teams called contributions? Okay? Returns?
- 45:21Speaker 1: Fred saw him return a punt? He is not wrong.
- 45:25Speaker 1: One punt. He did return a punt, and it's from
- 45:28Speaker 1: two thousand and twenty. He returned one punt for one yard. No,
- 45:33Speaker 1: I saw him return not in the pros. You didn't
- 45:38Speaker 1: a kick a kickoff. Let me look at the kicks.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Let me look at kicks. Kicks kicks uh no tds.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Five kickoff returns in his rookie year for one hundred
- 45:47Speaker 1: and five yards average of twenty one yeards. Two kickoff
- 45:52Speaker 1: returns his second year for thirty yards, and you saw
- 45:55Speaker 1: one thirty one yard or this year? Are you sure
- 45:57Speaker 1: you're not thinking of Braxton Barrios. Uh, oh, that could
- 46:00Speaker 1: be true. He's not all that much better, by the way. No,
- 46:05Speaker 1: but Isabella, I thought, but Andy, Isabella, he had he
- 46:07Speaker 1: had five for one hundred and five. I think one
- 46:09Speaker 1: of those were a big one. I just told you
- 46:11Speaker 1: what they were. I literally just told you. Why do
- 46:14Speaker 1: you not listen to me? That's what he does? Oh God,
- 46:18Speaker 1: that's that's really he's maddening. Um Okay, j CC's fascin.
- 46:24Speaker 1: He's from you, mass. I like it Rymes too. Um,
- 46:28Speaker 1: And I would be as I said, I would be
- 46:31Speaker 1: willing to take a flyer on him. But yeah, I
- 46:35Speaker 1: need I'm not gonna I need to send any need
- 46:38Speaker 1: to find a way to get some guys that will
- 46:40Speaker 1: be here for three years with mac Jones. Yeah. Um.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Leo has an interesting thirty miles long coordin coordinator gate
- 46:54Speaker 1: Coaches and coordinators have play called tendencies, oftentimes measured and
- 46:58Speaker 1: used by opposing teams to counter in certain situations. Do
- 47:02Speaker 1: you think Bill sees any competitive advantage in not having
- 47:05Speaker 1: official coordinators on both sides of the ball. Would he
- 47:08Speaker 1: change the play caller from game to game to mess
- 47:10Speaker 1: with opponents on tendencies? Thought about this as a joke.
- 47:14Speaker 1: But I wouldn't be surprised by Bill. No, I'd find
- 47:17Speaker 1: that hard fathom if you're having any if you're having
- 47:22Speaker 1: different guys call the plays from game to game, that
- 47:24Speaker 1: means the guy somebody's failing. Yeah, the disruption is not
- 47:27Speaker 1: worth the advantage you'd get. But you see teams like
- 47:31Speaker 1: change who's calling the plays because things aren't going well.
- 47:34Speaker 1: You never see the team leading the league in offense
- 47:36Speaker 1: after five weeks. Another guy's gonna call the plays the
- 47:39Speaker 1: next game. Ephron from right. Then, Bill Belichick has a
- 47:47Speaker 1: few years left before he retires, and I wonder if
- 47:49Speaker 1: the Patriots should mortgage the future. In an attempt to
- 47:52Speaker 1: win the coveted seventh Super Bowl, the Laker and Rams
- 47:55Speaker 1: went all in and both won a championship. Recently, the
- 47:58Speaker 1: Lakers are paying a heavy price now with a slow
- 48:01Speaker 1: and old team with very few draft picks. The current
- 48:03Speaker 1: Laker record is twenty seven thirty four and fans are
- 48:06Speaker 1: booing their team. The Rams had a similar game plan
- 48:09Speaker 1: and we all will see what their future holds. The
- 48:11Speaker 1: Lakers went all in this year. They made the trade,
- 48:15Speaker 1: and they traded all the young guys for Russell Westbrook.
- 48:18Speaker 1: The attitude of all the local teams, including the Dodgers,
- 48:21Speaker 1: is to win now since the LA market demands it,
- 48:24Speaker 1: is it worth it if the New England Patriots have
- 48:27Speaker 1: the same mentality since Bill Belichick Bill Belichicks don't grow
- 48:32Speaker 1: on trees, No, I don't think so. What does he
- 48:35Speaker 1: mean by mortgage the future though? Like, yeah, I don't
- 48:38Speaker 1: understand why it has to mortgage the future unless you
- 48:42Speaker 1: just think that when Bill retires, you're gonna drop. Yeah,
- 48:47Speaker 1: I don't know. Like you have a young quarterback you're
- 48:50Speaker 1: going into year or two. If you surround them with
- 48:52Speaker 1: a lot of talent and it works and you win
- 48:53Speaker 1: a Super Bowl? Yeah, I don't think you've mortgaged anything, right,
- 48:58Speaker 1: And what do you get? Like, what is it? What
- 49:03Speaker 1: is he expecting to get? Yeah, you know, given what
- 49:07Speaker 1: you have, what do you expect to get? Like what
- 49:08Speaker 1: are you trading to get the needed pieces to win
- 49:12Speaker 1: a Super Bowl? Like you need a lot of help
- 49:14Speaker 1: right now. It's not like you need one or two players.
- 49:16Speaker 1: And yeah, it has to be in a year where
- 49:18Speaker 1: one or two players are more are available that you
- 49:21Speaker 1: can bring in, you know. So I just think it's
- 49:26Speaker 1: difficult what he's asking. Yeah, let's see Bill Ritson from DC.
- 49:34Speaker 1: I'd like to hear your thoughts that, Nick Kaylee, I've seen.
- 49:37Speaker 1: I've been seeing the speculation that he might be the
- 49:39Speaker 1: guy who will call the plays and the concern that
- 49:42Speaker 1: the jump from tight ends coach the play calling is
- 49:44Speaker 1: too big a move down here in DC. I do
- 49:46Speaker 1: remember that Sean McVeagh was the tight ends coach for
- 49:50Speaker 1: the then Redskins before he moved to the OC position,
- 49:53Speaker 1: and that turned out pretty well. I understand that he's
- 49:56Speaker 1: well respected throughout the league, and the Patriots block other
- 49:59Speaker 1: teams from talking to him, so Bill must hold him
- 50:02Speaker 1: in high regard. Do you think he's really ready to
- 50:05Speaker 1: make the jump? Who becomes a de facto offensive cording
- 50:08Speaker 1: I had blocked from talking about. I hadn't heard that.
- 50:11Speaker 1: I hadn't heard that either. Yeah, it doesn't mean it's
- 50:14Speaker 1: not true, but right, I'm not saying it's not true.
- 50:16Speaker 1: I just said I hadn't heard it. Um. That's another one,
- 50:18Speaker 1: by the way, from yesterday with Josh McDaniels talking. Um,
- 50:22Speaker 1: you know, we had a lot of people ask us
- 50:24Speaker 1: if we thought Bill was upset with Josh taking three coaches,
- 50:29Speaker 1: and uh, couldn't be further from the truth. They talked
- 50:32Speaker 1: about it beforehand and Josh said that Bill was very
- 50:36Speaker 1: much on board with um what Josh did. Okay, as promised,
- 50:43Speaker 1: the deuce is on the line from India. What's up, Mike?
- 50:47Speaker 1: Hey guys, Hey, So I don't know if um uh
- 50:53Speaker 1: he's just you know, uh, fooling with us, But no,
- 50:56Speaker 1: Socks has teased some type of story that you're to
- 51:00Speaker 1: tell us. I don't. I hope he didn't build it
- 51:03Speaker 1: up too much. But no, it was special for you
- 51:05Speaker 1: guys because we were sitting here in the media area
- 51:09Speaker 1: and who should enter but a couple people with some
- 51:13Speaker 1: giant trays filled with shrimp cocktail from Saint Elmo's or
- 51:19Speaker 1: all of the media here. So that Matt Smith those
- 51:23Speaker 1: stocks was here and was very, very very excited, and
- 51:26Speaker 1: that's it. Yeah, wow, definitely, Yeah, my apologize to U nation. Yeah,
- 51:35Speaker 1: that may or may not be a combine first. I
- 51:38Speaker 1: was hoping when he said combine first, I was hoping,
- 51:40Speaker 1: like you snuck onto the Cowboys bus and like a
- 51:46Speaker 1: shouting argument with Mike Vrabel. Yeah, yeah, like you you
- 51:50Speaker 1: got you got an opportunity to do something that we've
- 51:52Speaker 1: never done in Indie. I do have something. I do
- 51:56Speaker 1: have something though, okay, a little thing. I don't know
- 51:57Speaker 1: if this will if this will scratchity itch, but I
- 52:00Speaker 1: did end up somehow in the bathroom at the same
- 52:02Speaker 1: time as like all the top wide receivers, so like
- 52:04Speaker 1: everybody was clamoring for Jamison Williams and all those guys.
- 52:07Speaker 1: I just happened that it took good to walk in
- 52:09Speaker 1: there and they're all in there at the same time.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Though that wasn't it wasn't quite the Cowboys bust, but
- 52:13Speaker 1: it was a somewhat of an interesting moment. I thought
- 52:16Speaker 1: they were going to see like something Patriots on me
- 52:18Speaker 1: and I'll get quiet but us. So you were all
- 52:20Speaker 1: in the bathroom together, did you check out hand size
- 52:25Speaker 1: among the other sideshow? Full scouting report? So how's it
- 52:29Speaker 1: going over there? It's been good. It's been really good. Um, obviously,
- 52:34Speaker 1: I think you guys. I heard you guys talking about
- 52:36Speaker 1: Josh yesterday. So you know some of the coaches stuff
- 52:39Speaker 1: that came out yesterday was was solid, and you know,
- 52:41Speaker 1: I think the you know, the headline probably that everybody's
- 52:43Speaker 1: waiting for, like I mentioned, was, you know, the wide receivers.
- 52:46Speaker 1: Then you know, as Paul when he was here a lout.
- 52:48Speaker 1: You know, there's just a ton of those guys and
- 52:50Speaker 1: it's hard not to be really intrigued by all the
- 52:54Speaker 1: size and you know, speed, and you know it's really
- 52:56Speaker 1: just getting a chance to hear the guy's talk and
- 52:59Speaker 1: you know see them in you sized them up a
- 53:01Speaker 1: little bit. Um. You know. One interesting, another little interesting
- 53:04Speaker 1: nugget that I didn't realize was they make the guys
- 53:06Speaker 1: if they're not going to do the bench press here,
- 53:08Speaker 1: they have to stand up in front of everybody with
- 53:10Speaker 1: a microphone and say why they're not doing it right?
- 53:13Speaker 1: They try to, they try to really yeah, yeah, I
- 53:17Speaker 1: just they're doing the shame shame, shame. And Jamison Williams
- 53:21Speaker 1: was Jamison Williams said, he said, I'm not I'm not lifting.
- 53:25Speaker 1: And then they said, well will you do it at
- 53:27Speaker 1: your pro day? And he goes nope. He just went off. Wow.
- 53:30Speaker 1: So you know, kind of interesting. I thought that was
- 53:33Speaker 1: an interesting little tid bit. But but overall, just you know,
- 53:36Speaker 1: the number of receivers trail On Burks. I know we've
- 53:38Speaker 1: talked about him, but he's this guy that he's a
- 53:40Speaker 1: guy that made an impression on me just his size. Um,
- 53:44Speaker 1: the way he spoke about, you know, just the game
- 53:46Speaker 1: in general. Um, I'm bringing you on board, hot Douce. Yeah,
- 53:51Speaker 1: I see. I like Trailing Burks. I think that he
- 53:54Speaker 1: is a dynamic athlete that wasn't surrounded by all other
- 53:57Speaker 1: dynamic athletes. That's why I like Trailer Brooks. And they
- 54:01Speaker 1: did a ton of stuff with him. He's played all
- 54:03Speaker 1: over the place listening to him talk. He's done that
- 54:05Speaker 1: since high school. Um, you know, just a really polished guy.
- 54:08Speaker 1: And uh, you know, I think everybody might be a
- 54:10Speaker 1: little bit scared of the bigger wide receivers after nikkil Harry,
- 54:13Speaker 1: But I don't think he's that guy. I think it's Uh,
- 54:16Speaker 1: I think they've got some real studs in this class,
- 54:17Speaker 1: and uh it's going to be, you know, hopefully exciting
- 54:20Speaker 1: to see what they do. I mean to me, that's crazy.
- 54:23Speaker 1: You're scared of big wide receivers because what about Randy
- 54:28Speaker 1: Moss and Calvin Johnson. Now you know all these other
- 54:30Speaker 1: big we didn't draft them, I know, but they wouldn't
- 54:33Speaker 1: have been good for the right right Wait wait, one
- 54:36Speaker 1: of those guys was good for the Patriot. Yeah. Yeah,
- 54:40Speaker 1: but that's that's the key. You know offensive lineman today
- 54:44Speaker 1: always hard to really discern those guys. But um, you know,
- 54:47Speaker 1: did talk to the Bernard Raymond, who uh is ah
- 54:51Speaker 1: you know from Austria. I just really nobody was asking
- 54:54Speaker 1: them a question. I hopped to write in and I
- 54:55Speaker 1: just asked him, you know, have you followed anybody any
- 54:58Speaker 1: other international players in their paths? And I mean it
- 55:00Speaker 1: was like, you know, you could have scripted the answer
- 55:02Speaker 1: the way he went went right into Sebastian Volmer and
- 55:05Speaker 1: you know how he's been such an inspiration to him
- 55:07Speaker 1: and followed him and then he threw Yaka in there
- 55:09Speaker 1: as well. So, um, that was pretty cool. And I
- 55:11Speaker 1: mean I certainly think he's a player that you know,
- 55:13Speaker 1: in that day, late day one, early day two could
- 55:16Speaker 1: go and with the need to tackle. I think it's
- 55:18Speaker 1: a it's a pretty good fit. It was fun listening
- 55:20Speaker 1: to him talk and how he was introduced to football
- 55:22Speaker 1: by the blindside and that's what made him really want
- 55:24Speaker 1: to get into football and play high school football. It
- 55:27Speaker 1: was cool. Cool. Yeah, So you know, maybe the Patriots
- 55:30Speaker 1: will get another uh German slash Austrian person on their roster.
- 55:36Speaker 1: When are you, When are you coming home? When are
- 55:38Speaker 1: you when is he projected by the way deuce like, yeah,
- 55:41Speaker 1: I I I did add that, Fred Um, yeah, it's
- 55:44Speaker 1: like late day late late day one, early day two.
- 55:46Speaker 1: I mean I think that that's been where I've seen
- 55:48Speaker 1: him kind of going around too. So yeah, okay, so
- 55:52Speaker 1: it's up there. He's that high. He is for sure,
- 55:56Speaker 1: and uh, you know, just Evan Neil, Um, he's a
- 55:59Speaker 1: he's a monster. I mean, he's he weighed in at
- 56:01Speaker 1: three thirty. I mean, is he just he is the
- 56:04Speaker 1: most cut three thirty you've ever imagined in your life.
- 56:06Speaker 1: He'll probably be one of the top five picks. I
- 56:08Speaker 1: know some places projecting him to yeah, yeah, yeah, and
- 56:13Speaker 1: along with Kwan Yu. I don't know if I pronounced
- 56:16Speaker 1: that correctly, but um, but there's some you know, there's
- 56:18Speaker 1: some real big big boys as usual. All right, So
- 56:22Speaker 1: what's on the docket today? Offensive linemen you said, and
- 56:25Speaker 1: anything else? Yeah? And running backs? Running backs? Yeah, talk
- 56:29Speaker 1: to uh, talk to a couple of guys, a couple
- 56:31Speaker 1: of guys from Oklahoma today. So I'm gonna post another
- 56:34Speaker 1: piece just some high praise for Ramandree and Ronnie Perkins
- 56:37Speaker 1: as well from the guys from Oklahoma. So you know,
- 56:40Speaker 1: another school, we tell you. I know, Paul wrote up
- 56:42Speaker 1: about Alabama the other day, and you know Oklahoma they
- 56:45Speaker 1: tapped a couple of less year two, so maybe they'll
- 56:47Speaker 1: go back to that well again. And what's for dinner tonight?
- 56:51Speaker 1: Over flying back? So we're well that's it up here. Yep.
- 56:54Speaker 1: We did go to Webber Grill last night, a very
- 56:56Speaker 1: nice Unfortunately there's a there's no more open bar happy hour.
- 56:59Speaker 1: You get drink tickets, although I thought it was two tickets,
- 57:02Speaker 1: but but it actually was for Unfortunately it was for
- 57:05Speaker 1: warm and flat beer. So yeah, four tickets per night. No,
- 57:11Speaker 1: that's it, that's all you got. Oh you get four
- 57:13Speaker 1: upon upon check in. Yep, that would be tough for
- 57:17Speaker 1: and yeah four and you dumb, but we saved them
- 57:19Speaker 1: all for one night. Can you can you go up
- 57:20Speaker 1: and pay? Yeah? Sure, right, probably wants to. It's not
- 57:24Speaker 1: really Yeah, that's not that's that's not the draw the drawers.
- 57:28Speaker 1: You go there and they just give you the free
- 57:29Speaker 1: free drinks. I get popcorn and beer. Give give what's
- 57:33Speaker 1: going on over here? It felt like I was back
- 57:36Speaker 1: in college. It was that kind of dry keg beer
- 57:38Speaker 1: that you know, warm, warm, uncarbonated keg beer was It
- 57:43Speaker 1: was not It was not fun, but hey it does
- 57:45Speaker 1: the job right, all right, Deuce, safe traveler, yep, safe travels.
- 57:49Speaker 1: We'll talk to you later. That's Deuce from the Combine,
- 57:53Speaker 1: Douce douce. I just that story was there wasn't There
- 57:58Speaker 1: wasn't a year broad and there was a year that
- 58:01Speaker 1: I believe the NFL and our own Laurence Spencer was
- 58:05Speaker 1: talking about this yesterday. Um, I think the NFL had
- 58:09Speaker 1: some sort of agreement that they had made with Pizza
- 58:13Speaker 1: Hut Pizza. Um and um, all of a sudden there
- 58:19Speaker 1: was Pizza Hut pizzas for all, Like they just walked
- 58:21Speaker 1: around the big the big media handing out pizzas to everybody.
- 58:26Speaker 1: That's good. Yeah, person individual, Yeah, the personal free food
- 58:32Speaker 1: is good no matter what it is. You hurt post feelings.
- 58:35Speaker 1: Patty is an agawam. What's up? Patty? What's up? Guys?
- 58:39Speaker 1: Let me take you off the blue seat for a second. Sorry,
- 58:42Speaker 1: all right, yeah, go ahead Patty here, Yeah yeah yeah. Um.
- 58:52Speaker 1: So I had a question about Isaiah Win and I
- 58:57Speaker 1: don't know if there's you guys see any sort of
- 59:00Speaker 1: like run heavy teams that would want to possibly trade
- 59:03Speaker 1: firms considering that he's got not a huge salary, but
- 59:07Speaker 1: I think ten million dollars for a player of the
- 59:09Speaker 1: bill because might be a little bit too heavy for
- 59:11Speaker 1: a team to want to take out. Let's see if
- 59:14Speaker 1: we gets someone else to take them. I love those Yeah, well,
- 59:19Speaker 1: you're saying that where he'd be a better fit, is
- 59:21Speaker 1: what you're saying, right, Yeah, he's on that kind of
- 59:24Speaker 1: a team now, right, I'm just letting. I mean, is
- 59:29Speaker 1: there a more run heavy team than the Patriots? Yeah?
- 59:33Speaker 1: Maybe the raven Yeah. Maybe there's a team that wants
- 59:39Speaker 1: weren't run heavy and they want it in Tennessee Cleveland. Yeah, yeah,
- 59:44Speaker 1: See I would put Tennessee in Cleveland with the Patriots Baltimore. Sure,
- 59:48Speaker 1: they have all those runs for Lamar Jackson. They're probably
- 59:51Speaker 1: more of a run heavy And I think Win is
- 59:52Speaker 1: a good athletic uh lineman. You know, he can get
- 59:56Speaker 1: out of his stance quickly and he gets out there. Okay,
- 59:59Speaker 1: and do we play what would you? Okay? Thanks Patty?
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Who do we play a tackle? If we lose Brown
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: and Win? Well, I know that's the problem, you know,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I mean, when you can only fill in for one
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: of them, right, that is a problem to take in
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: the first round. Ye all right, we got a lot
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: of emails coming in. We're gonna take a break. When
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: we come back. We'll get to those emails here and

- 1:09:56Speaker 1: great moments sometimes like that was a regular argument that
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: was fine, Yeah, but there are times that we get
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: like sort of upset, we start yelling, well, and it's
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: not really I don't think it's the best moments of
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: the show. If you're yelling over each other. As a listener,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: you you literally can't hear what people are saying. There
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: were times I know this is going to surprise some people,
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: but when I haven't argument with you that, I'm embarrassed
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: about it. Afterwards, Wow, you should and I don't necessarily.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: I don't necessarily. Actually I'm surprised. I can't believe I'm
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: losing to this guy. That's another great moment from all
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: right back here at Patriots on Filtered eight five five.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: PATS five hundred is the Ace ticket line. Web radio
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: at Patriots dot Com is the email address. We heard
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: from Deuce at the combine, um lineman today, offensive lineman
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: today and running backs and uh from Cocktail big for all. Yeah,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: kind of a letdown anyway, We just kind of saw
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: it coming though we anticipated it. Yeah, let's get to
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: some of these emails, because there's a lot of them,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: Burt on Burton Island says. In the last show, Paul
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: very briefly brought up the possibility of the Patriots getting
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: a punter in the six or seventh round, to which
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Eric gave a typical harrumph. Eric, you need to go
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: look at highlights of this guy, matt Araiza of San
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Diego State. He routinely punts over seventy yards. He makes tackles,
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: and can kick off and make long field goals too.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: He is a true weapon, not just in the sense
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: Belichick once said about Hecker because he didn't have anything
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: else nice to say about the Browns. He's a special
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: teams game changer. And never mind sixth round. I'd take
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: him in the fourth, maybe even in the third. What
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: wasn't it the raza? You got to look at him, Eric, Okay,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: all right, I won't do my homework, but that would
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: be as nauseating as any pick good thing. Megan doesn't
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: work here anymore. Round punter, right, yeah, what if he
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: can do at all? What if he can kick punt field, goals,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: the whole thing. So he's not going to do at
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: all in the pros. I mean, but I mean because
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: then if you lose that guy in a game, you
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: don't have anybody to do anything that Jake Bailey can
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: do all those things you like Jake Bailey. Yeah, it's nothing,
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: I mean, there's it's not It's not like Jake Bailey
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: is you know, yeah, costing them games. He had a
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: bad ye had a bad year and he was hurt,
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: and yes, so I give him a Pet's gonna say
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: there might have been an injury that affected him. He
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: had a solid rookie year, he had a Pro Bowl,
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: uh second year. I mean, he's fine. He had a
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: bad year, so of course he was hurt all year. Mate, Well,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I said, he has good years and then all of
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: a sudden he has a bad year. Maybe there was
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: an explanation, you know, there wasn't an explanation for his
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: all Pro year that he's you can't have an injury,
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: it'd be good. I'm just saying that how do you
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: go from have a like a career year could be
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: but he had good year before that too, Yeah like that, No,
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: not quite that, but he wasn't as bad like last
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: year was his worst? Sure out of three that yeah,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: that was his worst, right, So maybe there's an explanation.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: That's all. You don't have the harrump that. I'm not
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: harrumping it. I just like that he had a bad
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: I mean, we can't just he had a bad year.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: Guys get hurt, you know, but we can't just say
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: he had a bad year. He did, But maybe always
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: has to be a reason that maybe, maybe I said,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: maybe there's an explanation he's not that good. It's one
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: of those arguments we have. Maybe he's not that good.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Maybe that's why they're interested in taking a punter. Oh
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: now they're interesting. Everybody said breaking news. No, but if
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: you if you follow any of the Patriots guys about
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: this stuff, I don't because they don't that way. Do
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: you think he's getting this stuff the emailer, Yeah, he's
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: getting it from because people are talking about it, they're
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: writing about it. I'm not. I don't want a punter people,
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: And if I and if I do want to. First
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: of all, I don't want to replace Jake Bailey. I
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: think he's perfectly fine, exactly. But if I did, I
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: would wait till the draft is over, and that I
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: would sign a punter, and I wanted to. I think
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: the only reason people are talking about it right now
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: is because Jake Bailey had a little bit of an
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: off year last year. If you had a normal season,
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: they wouldn't be talking about this. Yeah, they're reactionary and
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: they got nothing else better to do. Tyler Fremdeck has
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: a would you rather game? Okay, would you rather this
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: year draft a first round player that is a top
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: tier talent such as Steph Gilmore or trade back and
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: get three solid Day two contributors such as Logan, Ryan
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: Steven Neil, and Rob Nikovich. Door number one say it again,
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: So would you rather draft a top tier player Allah
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Stefan Gilmore or trade back and get solid two day?
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: Day two contributors like Allah, Logan, Ryan, Steven Neil, and
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Rob Nikovich will take I could take three of those
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: first one, I take the three. I'll take the yeah,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: but rarely do you get all three? Right? But I
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: would rather have Gilmore than those three players. Oh you
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: would rather have the Gilmore? Yes, I would too, I'd
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: rather have had much harder to find. Yeah. Um, would
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: you rather intern for Andy Hart or Scott Zolak? Oh a,
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: that is a tough call and well done by I
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: think Scott Zola because he'd never be there. No, I
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: would go able to do whatever you want. But I've
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: worked I worked with Andy for thirteen years, so I
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: kind of know what that's like. Yeah, so I'll take Zolak. Yeah.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: I mean to the other thing about this kid, I'm
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: looking up his stats, like the whole field goal kicking thing.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: He went fifty for sixty eight field fifty for sixty eight,
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: not that that great. So yeah, he did it, but
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: he didn't do it all that well. And I mean
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: what I said about what Bill has talked about this. Yeah,
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: they don't want to have one. They don't want to
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: have only one guy do that because if you lose them,
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: you're screwed. That's in a game, right ye Would you
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: rather have to eat your candy bars with a knife
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: and fork, or whenever someone entes your car you have
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: to brag that it used to belong to John Voight.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: It's a Seinfeld reference both of them are Seinfeld references. Actually,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: I'd say the candy with the knife and fork. Remember
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: the candy bar with the knife and fork, mister Pitt, Yes, right,
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: mister Pitt, heavy candy bar with the knife and fork. Right.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: And then everyone started doing it became a fad, uh
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: my off season hope. Actually George did it first, and
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: then Elaine did it in front of mister Pitt, what
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: are you doing? And then he started, ye, my off
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: season hope. So that we let Jackson go to get paid.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Then signed Eli Apple to a long term deal, who
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: had a pretty good year besides getting he's up and down.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: And then if he does well, you hear from his mother,
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: and if he doesn't do well, you hear from his mother. Really, wow,
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: that's interesting that you'd be up on gets. Oh yeah,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: he's right, yeah really that thing? Yeah yeah, I don't
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: care that. So he would like to bug me at all.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: So he would like to sign Apple and trade up
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: to draft either Gardner or Stingley. I think Jackson is
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: very good and should get paid, but it felt like
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: too many of his interceptions were more of the ball
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: falling into his hands than him making a play of
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: the ball. How are you trading up? Yeah, I don't
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: know with what current What are you doing? Don't hear
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: what I'm not saying, Paul. I hope he gets paid
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: and deserves it, but I would rather really reallocate that
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: money to a cornerback that is a tier below and
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: on a high upside. Eli Apple is a tier below
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: jac Jackson. He's not even in the same stratosphere. Yeah. Um,
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: but I I am hearing what you're saying, and I
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: agree with what you're saying. I am. I have no
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: problem moving on from Jase Jackson, and I think that's
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: his lodger point. I'm not going to knitpick on the
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: guy that he picked to move on to Eli Apple.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: You can get There are other guys that are a
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: notch below that you could get, right, Yes, you can.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: You could sign a guy or two and free Caleb
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: Caleb Eli Apple. I just don't think he's very good. Um.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: Eli Apple's just a guy. But I mean, I think
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: you could get a guy like do you have that list?
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: I do, And I just wrote about that position for
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: Kansas City. Why do I keep thinking of him? No,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: You've got your various award from Kansas City. Christ Yeah,
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: I mean Kyle Fuller's an older guy's been around for
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: a while. I don't want an older guy like Joe.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: Joe Hayden is a good player. I don't want an
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: older guy. I want younger. Yeah, guy that I can have, like,
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: you know, for three three years at least. How about
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: like a siran Neil from Buffalo, Like, I know he's
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: kind of a part time player for them, but like
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: that he might be affordable. There's a million of him.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: Isn't he a special teamer? I thought he remember the
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: end of the season. I don't remember him as when
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: what's his name got hurt? I thought he had to
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: jump um. Dante Jackson from Caroline is another young guy
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: who's like like, these are the kind of guys that
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: they would sign though, you know what I mean, Like
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: guys we haven't really heard of much, but they're affordable
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: and they've had a little bit of experience. That's Those
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: are the kind of guys that I'm that I'm looking
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: at because that's typically what they do. Andre in New
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Jersey rights, um can't be serious. Fred red cap milk,
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: please go in your fridge, grab the red cap and
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: pour it down the drain. Simple almond or two percent
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: is way better. That's what you think. It's healthier for you.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: I like whole milk, right, I don't like um almond
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: milk at all. Anyway. A couple predictions for the Patriots. First,
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: Jackson gets shown the door. Don't like it, rather a
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: tag and trade. Second, Patriots will not take an off
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: ball linebacker in the draft. He will finally let the
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: young guys play, which Paul always wanted, and he'll resign Bentley. Okay, maybe,
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: I mean they gotta do something better at linebacker, though.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: I think that it's one of many that puss Ronnie
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: Perkins never played last year because he was a healthy
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: scratch and so most of the most of the time.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: It can't be that good. He didn't deal with some
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: injuries during the course of the year. I think it
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: was more well behind and he never well. I don't
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: think he fell behind because of injuries. He dealt with
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: injuries during the course of the year that he suffered
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: in practice. Yeah, so he was out there every day
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: and trying about him and then you know, uh, Cam
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: mcgron um, you know, we don't know anything about him, No,
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: we don't, you know, Yeah, I do have to pronounce
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: his name. I do think the emailer makes a good point. Um.
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: I think that Bill will tell you by his actions,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: as he often does, what he thinks of some of
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: those guys. If Jawan Bentley is resigned, then the cam
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: Cameron mcgron fluff was just that, yeah, fluff. Uh, let's
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: see Anthonies from Where's he from? Doesn't say Eric doesn't
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: like that. I have been going to war with myself
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: over j C. Jackson. I understand that bringing him back
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: doesn't take the team to a contender level. I think, though,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: that not bringing him back makes the defense an absolute liability.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: We have no other outside corners that could step in
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: and replace him, and I don't want to rely on
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: hitting another undrafted free agent or save a few million
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: with some replacement level guy. I think signing Jackson long
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: term right now is the only way to go. Having
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: Mac on a rookie deal in some veterans coming off
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: the books over the next couple of years will free
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: up enough money that the JC contract won't ham string
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: the team. With Jackson, Jones, Dugger, and Phillips, we at
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: least have a decent foundation in the secondary. Keep j C.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: Draft a corner in the first and then let Jones
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: and others go when their time comes. Unless a freakishly
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: good pass rusher is on the market and the Patriots
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: spend the JC money there there is no number one
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: signing that will make the defense great next year, So
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: use the money on a good player, you know. Yeah,
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: I think the Patriots would like that. I think they
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: would like the ability to sign Jackson to an extension.
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: I don't think there's any chance of that at this point.
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: And in short of tagging him and then buying yourself
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: another six months, because I think the deadline would then
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: be July for you to be able to sign a
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: guy to an extension under the tag, yeah, then it
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: could happen. Because then maybe he just says, well, I
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: rolled the dice last year, I got to free agency,
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: and I don't want to roll the dice again that
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: I'm going to stay healthy, So I'll just take there.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: You know, maybe then you could do it. But do
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: you think there's any chance that jay Z Jackson signs
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: a long term extension between now in March sixteenth? No? No,
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: unless there's talks that we don't know about it. Unless
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: they blow it out of the water, right, you know,
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: everybody's saying he could get eighteen nineteen million a year.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: They give him twenty three million a year, and maybe
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: he says, I mean, I want to get to free agency,
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: but I can't pass that up. No one's going to
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: offer me that. I would be completely otherwise. Does it
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: make any sense for a player a week and a
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: half away from freedom to sign an extension? No? Peo
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: from Dracott writes in Oh, but he says it's Paul Um.
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: As people continue to talk of Jac's value, I wonder
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: who he compares to in the last five year, six years.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: To me, he seems a lot like Logan Ryan, good
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: not great corner who seems to have the ability of
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: having the ball directly thrown to him, inflating his interception numbers.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: Do you agree is this a similar comp I think
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: remember Logan Ryan being like, I think he's better than
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: Logan Ryan. It's more Darn Harmon was that guy that
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: I think his I think his description of the interceptions
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: is accurate, but I think he's a better player. I know,
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: but like people hold that against him, like you know,
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: he's in the right place at the right time, and
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: he gets these picks like well. In other words, the
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: same thing could happen next year and he can end
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: up with one pick, right, Like that's what people are
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: saying they're holding against him, but like he doesn't make
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: a lot of players on the ball to come up
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: with that's a but to me, that's a different story,
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, But like like the the Caroline interception
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: that he took back for a touchdown this year was
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: like a classic case of like Sam Darnold throwing it
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: right to him. Absolutely, you gotta make that that But
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: I like, Okay, so I would say this, if you're
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: judging him by his interceptions, that's a mistake, right, Yeah,
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: but a lot of people do they know the fact
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: that he has the most interceptions in his time in
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: the league. Yeah, but I don't think the Patriots are
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: except for Diggs, he sucks because you know he has
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: all those interceptions because he sucks, Right, But I don't
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: think the Patriots or any other team are judging him
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: by the number of interceptions he's got. Some teams might.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: I think that's really silly, but that's that's how they
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: I know that happens. But I do think he's a
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: better player than Logan Ryan. I think he's better. I
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: think he's better in coverage. I think Ryan was a
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: good all around player who was like a good like
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: fifth defense back. I think he was a good tackler.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: He was generally in the right place. I think he
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: you know, I think he was professional. Yes, I think
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: he was solid. I think Logan Ryan was a solid.
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: It's a good pro. Yeah, But I think J. C.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: Jackson has has more of an ability to lock up
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: with a guy on the outside and play. Yeah. I'm
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: not calling him a shutdown corner, but he's more of
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: a shutdown corner than Logan Ryan was. Paul says, thanks
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: for keeping us entertained. Now let's get a blue chip center, oh, Freddie, Yeah,
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: we got the guys from BC though about this morning. Yeah.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: And I saw somebody's mock draft the other day. I
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: think it was Bucky Brooks again had a center going
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: fourteen to the Ravens. Wow. Well, a lot of people
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: think Zion Johnson could be a first round pick, and
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: he's considered probably a guard, but he played some center
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: at the Senior Bowl, Freddie, that's one of the Boston
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: College kids. And Alec Lindstorm also is a center from
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: Boston College. All right, but he's more of a Day
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: three kind of guy. Late day two. Maybe let's see
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: what's going on back at the A sticket helpline. Caleb
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: is in Knoxville. Hey, Caleb, Hey, what's going on? Fellas? Hey?
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: What's up? Yeah? So, um, I wanted to call about
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: the J. C. Jackson in the draft coming up. Since
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: we have so many holes that need to be filled,
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: and you know, with us letting go our trade and
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: stiffund go more over the season, Um, wouldn't it make
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: sense if we just tag J. C. Jackson fill our
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: holes in the draft this year and then kind of
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: worry about what's going to happen on the defensive the
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: defensive backside, I'm sorry, next offseason, instead of just letting
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: him walk and having another That's kind of where I am. Caleb.
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: I think that's a chance. I think there's a chance
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: of that. I mean I understand the mentality of that. Yeah,
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: you know, like I think they might just want to
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: rip the band aid off all at once and get
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: get going on it. You know, by letting him go,
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: you've created yet another hole, but now you have to
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: fill you know, I get it, I get it. But
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: it's the money. It's the money. The money, it's I
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: don't think they want to pay him. Yeah. I just
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: think that's the bottom too. What is the perfect offseason
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: scenario for each one of you guys, And I'll take
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: it off there. It's like, okay, thanks, perfect perfect offseason scenario.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: I think you hit on your first three picks, whatever
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: they are. And to me, it's no, no, no, wait,
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna say to me, it's wide receiver and two
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: defensive players that you hit on in the defense, and
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: you know in the draft, and then you you pick
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: up um one mid you know, mid to high level
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: free agent that immediately contributes in free agency. Yeah, and
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: you know a couple of guys that can fill holes
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: at the bottom of the roster in free agency, you know,
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: so you know, not not expensive people. Yeah. So I
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: would go, I would say that would be a good officer,
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: perfect you know, he wanted a perfect offseason scenario. I
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: would then you let jac Jackson walk, but you draft
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: a studded cornerback to replace him. That to me is
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: a perfect offseason scenario. That's it, Well, not all, but
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: that would be one element. And there's more. I would
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: rather have a cornerback on a rookie contract play at
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: a level of Jac Jackson, then giving Jac Jacks you
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: can do both. No, I don't want that, Okay, I
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: don't need both, all right. Perfect for me would be
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: tag and trade the wide receiver thing that you said,
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: I need that too. I need a number one wide receiver. Yeah,
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: that you can get in the second round. You say, well,
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: whatever you were, I don't care. I'm like, I'm not
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: telling you where you get. But you add a rookie
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: cornerback and a rookie one that can get better with
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: Mac Jones. Ok They're gonna be with Mac Jones. I'm
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: not a big fan of the bringing a guy for
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: a year with Mac Jones theory. I don't think that
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: their team as a player away the chemistry. I would
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: say the perfect for me would be the Tag Jackson
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: trade him to get a couple more draft commodities, yep,
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: and then keep your first round pick and make and
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: hit on a couple like that too. Yeah. I'm I'm
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: good with that. Yeah, you get a second and a
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: third like the guy earlier. Right now, you make a
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: first round pick for you the cornerback, and then you
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: pick up your wide receiver and some other help in
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: the second and third Chris O Lava and Derek Stingley
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: in the draft, and they both Yeah, they both hit
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: hit right like they both hit. Now you're talking. Now
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: you got a little foundation you're starting to build. Jacking
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: and aba along these lines, what one player in the
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: upcoming NFL Draft, if you were to fall to the
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: Patriots at pick twenty one, should the Patriots draft above
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: all others, even if the player is not a position
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: of need. Yeah. I don't really think this draft has
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: those guys. Yeah, do you think? Not that I've heard of.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: I mean, I haven't really delved into it. It's on
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: its way. I've placed my order for the magazine, but
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: they have to wait before they get it printed. They
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: gotta wait they see what it. Everybody else says first
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: Jamison Williams, Traylan Burkes one of those really dynamic wideouts. Maybe,
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: I don't know. Do you think that Burks guys gonna
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: go higher than twenty one? Uh? Yeah you do? Yeah,
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: he's big and fast. I don't know. Maybe I don't so,
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: I don't know if there's guys in this draft that
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: or that like. Yeah, I think there's a lot of
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: good players. Christian in Colorado writes in the earlier emailer
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: about the punter kicker from San Diego State is correct.
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: They played the Air Force Falcons out here in Colorado
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: at the Air Force Academy and watching him, he really
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: does have a massive leg But any who know? But
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: any who? How would you know, guys? Anyhow would you know?
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: Any who? How would you guys feel about letting jac
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: walk High Tower in mccordy and using that money for
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: younger talent. Now that's really what I'm looking for. I
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: want to draft the guy who was impressive punting the
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: ball in Colorado Springs a nice place, so we've been there. Yeah,
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: he averaged fifty yards of punt. The guy's legit. He
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: was the Ray Guy Award winner. I mean and all
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: joking aside, I have no interest in a punter. I'll
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: take him as an undrafted free agent. If he's not available,
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: I'll get the next guy who's just as good. West
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: is in Virginia on the A Sticket hot line, what's
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: up West? I just don't win games. Hey, guys, that's
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: it going Super Bowl? Hey, what's up West? He didn't
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: win the game, he helped him win. A long time
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: listener from Richmond Virginia. I've been listening since two thousand
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: and seven. Since he's who you know, he who shall
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: not be named, right, Um, you know, put the call
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: out there for the fans, put their cards on the table.
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: We need to sign J C. Jackson. I just going
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: back to two thousand and eight, Well, we didn't resign
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: a Sante Samuel. Our secondary was horrific for the next
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: five years until we have tied a key to leave.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: We had. We just had a total arress till at cornerback.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: We brought in these veterans Delta O'Neill if you remember
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: that's true, Boden and we couldn't draft him, Terence Wheatley,
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: Jonathan will Hire, Rozai Dowling. Yeah, you know, we drafted
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: Devin mccordy, which we hit on, but not at corner right.
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: We had to move him to safety. It wasn't really
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: until twenty thirteen until we know when we got a
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: key to leave the Logan Ryan, but we got some
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: stability at the position. Now. I'm not saying that he's
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: a key to leave or Durell Reavis or even a
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: jail and Ramsay today, but I think he's a top
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: ten corner and I think you got to sign him.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: I mean, I just and Paul earlier, you said just
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: today that you don't want to sign him and draft
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: a corner. I think that's exactly what you have to do.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: I think I'm with Mike. I think you need two
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: top flight corners in the AFC when you're playing teams
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: like Casey Buffalo and the Division Cincinnati, these guys with
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: dynamic threads. I think you at least can I just
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: defend myself real quick, West, because if you're gonna I
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: said I didn't want to put him on the franchise
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: tag in drafted, Like, if he's gonna go, then you
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: got to draft you You definitely have to draft a guy.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: But if you sign him to a long term extension,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: then you don't have to sign a cornerball Like, if
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: he's going to be here the next four years, five years,
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: then I don't have to draft a corner now. Yeah,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: but if he's only going to be here for one year, yeah,
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: then I still need another corner. That's saying you do
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: need yeah, no, no, no no. But I'm saying, like
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: I I'm just clarifying what I he does make a
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: very good plays is absolutely right and I'm not saying
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: years Samuel chasing the corner. Yeah, if I didn't like
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: players that could play, but okay, but as much as that,
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: you know, I wasn't bothered when he left. It is
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: true that they had trouble filling out time. Summation of
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: the entire situation was dead on. They chased a cornerback
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: for five years right after they let then they've had one.
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: It was to leave, it was revis it was Butler,
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: it was Jackson. They've had it since then. Gilmore, Yes,
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: I left Gilmore out the best one. Uh yeah, So
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: that's I mean, that's that's the thing. You know, the
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: best scenario was if you can sign them to an
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: extension and then you can you know, it's not urgent.
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: You don't have to take a cornerback in the first pick.
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: You know, I still kind of think you do, yeah,
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: regardless of whether he's but you could you could do
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: it a second round. You know it maybe you know,
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: but I don't. It's it's it's tough to fill that
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: position with a quality and West brings up the good
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: point about you know, the competition in the AFC, there's
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of teams with pass heavy
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: offenses that you know you're gonna face these teams a lot. Yeah,
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: you need help and you know, and I asked this
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: question earlier, Uh, you know, not this show, but I
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: think last on Tuesday in Today's NFL if you had to,
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: what's more important to face these other offenses? Is it
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: that elite pass rush or elite coverage? I think it's
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: the coverage. You think it's the coverage. Yeah, I think
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: you need both. Rush. I think, well, you definitely need both. Yeah.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: I would rather have coverage because the past run. You know,
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: it's like, you know, defense travels. Yeah, coverage travels. If
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: they're blocking me and I can't get there, I can cover. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: Like if I can't cover right and I don't get there,
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: I'm in trouble. That's true. And we've seen that a
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: lot lately. A Deal writes in from London to summarize
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: the valuation of J. C. Jackson in the eyes of
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: many Patriots fans and dare I say, media members over
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: the last few years. Over the past two seasons, fans
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: have been quick to trumpet him making top five lists
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: with PF in other nerds sites. Now that he's coming
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: up for a contract let him go. Those same fans
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: will tell you that BB should let him walk because
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: he's not that good. As Paul has been asking for
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: receipts on this, my view is that he's a goodish corner,
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: but now that he's reached free agency, will be paid
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: like a great one. For that reason, I'm out. I
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: say take your lumps with a draft choice and hope
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: the offense makes a considerable jump to compensate PS. I
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: work in the West End so that the Patriots do
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: end up playing against Green Bay. I'll be able to
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: arrange some tickets for those of you who are interested
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: in that sort of thing. Yeah, and the receipts. That's
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: the West End and London. That's like there, like men's district, No,
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: theater district. Oh, like you know, it's not like your
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: men's club Broadway in New York. Oh it's not like
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: the combat Zone. No, okay, no. But the receipts that
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: I'm looking for are not necessarily what your opinion is
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: of J. C. Jackson. But I want to know if
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: you're a talent like Wes completely latest cards on the table.
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: He thinks they need to resign him, So I expect
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: West to be pissed off at Belichick if they don't
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: resign him. That's the receipt. I'm looking for consistency. If
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: you don't care, if you're sort of wishy if they
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: take him there like you Fred, like you think that
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: they kind of need to keep him, but you understand
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: you're kind of in the middle. Fine, you don't have
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: to be upset at anybody, right, that's generally the way
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: you position yourself. But that's okay some people. Some people
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: have been really adamant that he needs to go, So
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: if they resign him, I want you to be pissed
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: about it, right, or the other way around. You're really
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: adamant that he needs to be signed, and if they
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: let him go, you should be upset, right, But no
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: one is. It's like a guy texted me yesterday, one
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: of my one of my buddies, It's like, are they
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: really going to let J. C. Jackson go for just
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: a cop pick? And I said it could be he goes.
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: Bill should get killed for that, and I said he
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: won't because he absolutely won't. Whatever he does will be
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: accepted as Bill Belichick, the Almighty God does everything in
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: the best interests of the team. Well, there's your biggest
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: family there. That's the only part of it that I
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: haven't that I'm upset about whatever you decide. Like, I'm
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: not telling you your opinion of what they should do
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: with J. C. Jackson is right or wrong, right, but
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: having to have one and stick with it. Yeah, and
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: be upset if they don't do what you think they
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: should do. Yeah. Scott an Agawam writes in Love the
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: show been listening since the days of he who should
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: not be named. I'm strongly against drafting a wide receiver
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: in the first round, as that seems to be Bill's
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: Achilles heel. He is almost never drafted a receiver that
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: lived up to the level they were picked at. We
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: have enough needs to use that pick on something Bill
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: is good at picking, and trade for a wide receiver later,
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: which he is good at see Welker Moss. Most people
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: have at least one weakness, and drafting whiteouts seems to
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: be his. Does anyone agree? So? Again, same line, if
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: they draft a wide receiver in the first round, I
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: want to hear from you on that Thursday night, April
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: twenty eighth, I believe it is. Yeah, I want to
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: hear you killing Belichick for drafting a wide receiver in
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: the first No, but what do you think about what
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: he said, like they shouldn't because of his history. I
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: think that's insane. Yeah, I do too. I think you
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: can't you keep trying. Yes, yeah, you have to evaluate
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: the board as you see it exactly, like like all
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: those years when they couldn't draft tight ends and then
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: they finally got Gronk and Hernandez. They couldn't draft linebackers
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: for a long time, and then they finally got you know,
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: Mayo and then High Tower, and so you got to
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: keep trying. Robin Coventry writes in just wanted to say
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: that I really enjoyed the show Tuesday, In particular, Paul
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: and Eric trying to get Fred to commit to what
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: position he took in the first round had me laughing.
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: Stone two frustrated dentists whatever the legs on the chair,
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: pulling teeth from a reluctant patient. Yeah, whatever they take.
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: Just thought i'd send you a silly scenario to pass
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: the time. They're happy with it. Silly scenario, They really silly.
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: They really liked him, They really really liked A late
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: night drinking session at the bar. Roger Goodell has a
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: beer fueled epiphany to disband all current teams in their place.
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: He decrees that new teams can be created, but they
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: could only be made up of players from one position
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: in the new era, featuring matchups such as, but not
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: limited to, the Quincy quarterbacks versus the Reno running backs
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: and the Tallahassee tight ends versus the Portland punters. Who
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: are you rooting for to win the drunkenly name super
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: Duper Bowl? Like, what position would win? I guess is
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: what he's saying. Linebackers, right? Uh? No, maybe running wide receivers,
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: yea the best athletes on the field. Yeah, but they
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: get killed them. It's best athlete, it's best athlete. Yeah yeah,
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: best wide receivers gonna outrun the Aaron Donald is the
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: best defensive linement. If eleven wide receivers played against eleven
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: defensive tackles, you think the defensive tackles would win because
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: of their braun Well, no, but have an edge on
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: offensive line. If it's like speedy linebackers, Let's say they
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: absolutely mal them at the line of scrimmage and beat
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: the hell out. Well that see to me, you're talking
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: on speedy linebackers you're kind of talking about defensive backs. Okay,
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: you know, but there there aren't enough of those guys. Yeah,
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: but yeah, I think I would take the skill guys
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: in every In every case, I would take cornerbacks. I
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: think cornerbacks would win the championship because they'd be able
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: to tackle better than wide receivers would and I think
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: they would be closer relic replicas of the wide receivers offensively. Yeah,
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: but you know it would be it would be funny
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: to watch, like the defensive tackles play the wide receivers. Yeah,
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: and whoever has the defensive back, the defensive tackles have
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: the ball and they just line up and they say,
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: we're gonna run it. We're gonna put a defensive tackle
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: in front of a defensive tackle. We're gonna run it
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: right down right, and you know, how do you stop it? Right? Yeah? Um,
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: Bill and Vista California with the first round pick, I
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: say screw and go the Borough slash Chase route and
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: get a reunion going with Michi and Mac, even if
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: it means he won't be available for most of the year.
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: What does Peu's take on the trend of pairing up
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: college teammates. I feel better about it if he was healthy.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: I'd feel better about it if I didn't think it
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: was circumstance, Like I think it happened twice and people
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: are now like in love with it, and he's not
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: wrong that the email is not wrong. Everybody, this was
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: a top of mind yesterday at the combine. Yeah, they
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: were all talking about it, including the individuals themselves. You know,
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: Mitchie said that he would love to reunion with mac ten. Yeah,
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: but I mean Jalen Waddle went to Tua and Jamar
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: Chase went to Joe Burrow Is like, is that the
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: thing to do now? Because those two things worked? What
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: do you think? I mean? I'm asking, try asking, I'm
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: asking out loud to start somewhere, like I'm thinking out loud.
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: Is it a trend? Is it something that you think
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: a lot of teams are going to now do or
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: do you think it just happened to work out that
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: way that Jamar Chase was a top five overall pick
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: and went to what I think is his college quarterback.
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: What I think is this is a copycat league, and
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: as soon as they see somebody have success doing something,
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: you'll see other teams trying it until it fails and
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: a new trend comes along. Yeah, So I could see,
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: Like for me, if I was around the league, I
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: would say, well, I need a guy like Jamar Chase. Yeah.
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: Not I had Jamar Chase's college quarterback. I need to
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: get Jamar Chase right. Like, That's where I'm a little skeptical,
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: Like it worked out that way. I think it's circumstantial.
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: It worked out that way for those two teams. You know,
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: maybe in the you know, maybe at the end of
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: the first round, if because of Mechi's torn ACL you
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: can get him in the second round to reunite him
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: with Max Shure. You know, we've been talking in recent
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: years that you know, every draft seems to have or
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: it turns out every draft has a lot of good
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: ride receivers that come out more and more. And someone
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: had a theory and what do you think about this
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: that the reason for that is that even going back
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: to high school, back in the day, the best athlete
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: was always the quarterback. But now some of the best
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: athletes are playing wide receiver, and they play wide receiver throughout,
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: you know, their whole career. They caught a lot more
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: passes in high school by the time they get to
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: you know that to be drafted, you know, they've had
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: more reps as a wide receiver. Anything to that. I
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: think it's more about the offenses that are being used. Yeah,
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: in general, the more wide receivers, well, they just it's
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: a passing game. Everybody throws the ball, you know, sixty
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: five percent of the time, and well what comes first,
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: the chicken or the egg? Like, we're seeing these great athletes,
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: let's change our offense, or somebody made a decision, we're
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: gonna start passing. I guess what I would ask you is,
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: do you think that DK Metcalf is any better of
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: an athlete than Cliff branch was or Stanley Morgan. No,
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: but they throw the ball every play now, so these
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: guys are catching the ball all the time. Their production
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: is through the roof. That's what I think it is.
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: It's it's an offensive shift more so than an athlete shift.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: But I think wide receivers over the years have always
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: been dynamic athletes. Oh yeah, but there weren't as many
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: of them. Yeah, I disagree with Okay, I think there's
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: a lot of really dynamic wide receivers that come in
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: college football that aren't used. Yeah, you know, the Big
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: Ten for years had these you know lineup, We're going
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: to run it between the tackles, three yards in the
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: cloud of dust mentalities. Now Ohio State throws it all
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: over the place, right, Woody Hayes would be rolling over
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: in his grave watching Ohio State when national championships. Now, yeah,
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: I also think that, like when we were growing up,
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: that you're right, like they're the prevalence of passing offenses
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: has trickled down now to like high school and youth
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: leagues more so than when we were growing up. Down
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: or does it go up? Is it like there's more
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: and more recruits that can do this, so we can
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: change our arms, you know. But I think what I
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: think happened was, like you saw, like the NFL started
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: to become popular in large part because of the passing
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: games like the Niners and the West Coast offense, and
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: teams started in the league started to copy that, and
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: more athletes wanted to be wide receivers or quarterbacks. And
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: I think that led to high schools, colleges, youth programs
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: being more pass heavy than they were when we were
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: growing up. Okay, I would be on the other side
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: of that I think the offense changed, and I don't
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: think there are any more well, you know, athletic wide
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: receivers than there ever were. I just think that you're
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: seeing more guys get more opportunities, and I think it
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: I think, I like Eric's point about the Niners in
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: the eighties because the West Coast offense spread throughout the
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: league yea, and everybody started doing that, you know, no
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: huddles at the end of the eighties into the nineties
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: with Jim Kelly. I mean, started with Sam Wish in Cincinnati,
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: and it went to Buffalo and everybody started doing these
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: kinds of offenses. But I think it might even be
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: more of like the spread might even be more of
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: a like a socioeconomic kind of question. Have more coaches
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: around the country at all levels been more willing to
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: put dynamic black athletes at quarterback. Yeah, And I'm not
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: prepared to give you the data on this, so I
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: don't know, but it seems to me that in the
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: seventies and eighties, you identified black quarterbacks individually. You know,
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: there was like, you know, Doug Williams and James Harris
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: and a couple of guys like that. Now, yeah, you
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: watch a college football game, and more often than not,
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: you have a dynamic signal caller running the spread and
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: running all over the placemaking plays, throwing the ball all
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: over the placemaking plays. I don't think you had that
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: twenty years ago. I think that's why you're seeing more
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: of these guys come into the league ready to make
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: an impacts as a passcort, I would be interested to
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: hear from like college scouts what influence what they're doing
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: on high school has on them, you know, like you know,
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: like do they and do they have any influence on
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: what they do in high school? Certainly tell you, I
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: will tell you, and you guys are right. It's a
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: chicken or the egg. It used to be the dynamic
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: player on an offense and a high school team was
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: the running back. Yeah, that's now a wide receiver. That's true. Okay.
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: I don't know if that's because the guy wanted to
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: play wide receiver and that was the chicken, or if
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: the chicken was the offense has changed but went to spreads,
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: and now those guys don't want to be running backs anymore.
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: They want to be receivers. But it's undeniable that the
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: best players on virtually every good high school team are
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: guys that can get out to the edge. They're not
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: just running backs anymore. The guys that catch the ball. Yeah,
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: I mean it's if you watched the high school game, Fred, well,
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: at every game, like I'm telling you, a ten game season,
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: every single game, eight out of the ten games. Yeah,
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: it's spread. Guys thrown it thirty times. Yeah, I'm telling
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: you I threw the ball thirty times my junior year
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: and I'm not exaggerated. Yeah, we hardly ever threw the ball. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: it's it's interesting. Mike and Maryland. I can't tell you
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: how many times as you've come back from a break burping,
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: or when Andy used to finish the rest of your
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: sandwiches back in the day, that I have thought as
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: to why no business in the Foxburg area caters PU
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: lunch or is the official lunch sponsor. It's a great
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: question as a traditional podcast hat tip to Fred. I
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: understand that geography plays a role, but wouldn't a chain
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: realize that many fans make pilgrimages to the house that
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: Kurse built preach thank you sincerely, someone who was never
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: offered to buy you lunch. This is me doing my
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: part to feed you all. We appreciate that. Yeah, this
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: is part of my suggestion. I would like Jersey Mike's
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: to be our sponsor. I wouldn't mind. I just would
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: like to be some attention paid to this show. I
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: think we should have a presenting sponsor for the show.
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: I think there's money to be had with the amount
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: of listeners and loyalty that we've generated over the last
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: twenty plus years. But I digress. Um, let's see Dylan
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: and Maine has a plea for us. He says, I
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: have a bone to pick with you guys. You do
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: a great job talking about Boston baseball, basketball, soccer, the
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: Women's Football League, t ball, and every other sport played
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: New England. You have never mentioned the pro rugby team,
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: the MLR. It's a new, great new league that has
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: a ton of US and overseas talent. Chung and Ebner
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: are owners of the new of the New England team
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: and Mark Cuban is a big supporter. To check it
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: out on The New England Free Jacks play Saturday at
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: three on NBC and a stream free on the Rugby
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: Network website. They play on NBC. Yeah, no, thanks, probably
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: NBC Sports so maybe like Saturday Afternoon that does not
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: exist anymore. Oh yeah, right, like sometimes Saturday at NBC
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: you see those type of sports, not like I thought
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: it was like national team, Yeah kind of stuff like that.
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: Sounded like a like a local rugby rug the free
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: JC I've seen, Well that's our tea. It is a
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: national league. Yeah, but major league rugby that's on TV.
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: Well some of the games I've seen it like on
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: like Comcast or something like that. Well, NBC has fillers
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: sports in a lot. Yeah. Interesting, you know, especially when
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: they had a sports net, but now they go USA
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: I think is the channel that they put a lot
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: of that stuff on. Yeah. What does that say though,
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: that NBC NBC Sports National couldn't make it. I was
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: very surprised when I heard that, because I mean I
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: thought they were a great like secondary outlet night. Other
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: networks followed suit, like CBS has a sports network. Yeah,
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: no one, but Fox Fox has f one and watches
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: that he like. And believe me, I'm like one of
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: the only ones because I like college basketball. I watched
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: some of the things on those. Nope, I'm alone. I'm
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: surprised alone that people don't watch those stations. No, huh
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: that I with the love of sports that people have,
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: I am surprised at that. I think they exist. Sports
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: were major networks have another channel for overlap. Yep. That's
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: like because they know they're not going to get it watched.
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: They know they're not going to generate any any viewers.
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: But like, so I have a national game on NBC,
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: and I have the game that's coming on after it. Okay,
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: I can say, you know, the scroll down the bottom,
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: you know for the start of the Fred Kurish versus
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: Eric Scotlavino debate is over on NBC Sports Boston, right, Well,
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: NBC Sports right, Um, but no one watches them. I mean, like,
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: believe me, you know my Loser per Loser. Yeah, that
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: used to be on those stations, right. I think like
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: twenty years ago they would have been more viable than now. Now.
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: There's just so much competition, not for sports, but just content.
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: Like people are not on their TV all the time,
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: and if they are, there's like all these HBO and
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: Showtime and Amazon anything phones and there's just you know too,
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: there's too much stuff. There is too much content there is,
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: you know, and that's a good thing for us for
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: the consumer. But it's tough. It's competitive, yeah, more competitive.
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: I think these games are on NBC Sports Boston. I'm
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: just looking up the Free Jacks website. Yeah, March a,
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: three o'clock. Oh, it's delayed until Eight's that like a
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: flight or delayed? What's going on? What are the teams
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: in this league? What are the teams? Yeah, I don't
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: know with the New England Free Jacks or the Boston
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: Free Jacks. How's that work? I think it's New England
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: he said, New England anyway. Yeah, um, yeah, I just
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: I guess. You know. Rugby is like before my kids
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: started playing lacrosse, that type of sport for me, I
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: never played it, so I don't really you know. I've
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: seen it on TV a few times, and it's actually
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: I like watching it. I just don't really I do
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: when I'm when I choose to watch it, I like
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: watching it. I just never think to myself, oh, I
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: gotta watch a rugby like I'm excited for the rugby match.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: It could be more fun to play than watch. I
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: don't know enough about it to enjoy it. Yeah, I
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: don't really know what's going on after right, I mean,
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: the guys are great athletes, They're tough, m efforts, you know,
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: the whole thing, you know, But it's just it is.
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: It's fun. Once once I start watching it, I get
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: into it, and like Paul, like I don't know all
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: the rules, the scoring system and all that, but like
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: I just start getting into watching the game. But I
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: never think ahead of time that Usually I just happened
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: into watching it. I don't plan to watch it. Yeah,
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: but like I'll say, like even golf, Okay, I used
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: to play a lot and then I quit. I mean
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: I just quit. I sold my clubs. I'm out, you know.
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: Then the only time I would watch is like a
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: Major when Tiger Woods was involved. But now I started
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: playing again, and now I'll watch it. Have you been playing? Yeah,
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: well yeah, play a little bit down. I played with Brian,
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: we played the Buddies now kissing cousins. Yeah, but uh yeah,
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: I start. I got some clubs and I've started to
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: play a little bit more. Now I stink. Oh I'm
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: so bad. Yeah, I'm not very good either. But I
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: do like watching gold, especially at this time of year.
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: This is around the cutoff for me. Um. I'll I
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: love watching the West Coast ones. Um you know, in
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: the heat of winter, the Honda Classic Heat of Winter. Yeah,
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: you know, like right in the middle of the most
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: miserable weather and everything, like clicking it on and looking
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: at the sun and like and falling asleep in your chair. Yes,
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: it's a great it's a great nap. You fell asleep
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: in the seventh hole and they're on the thirteen and
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: it's a great, a great nap and the sun is
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: just like you're like living vicariously to the players. I absolutely,
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: but then I'm with you. I just would watch the majors. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: and even then only if someone I care about is involved,
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: because now there's so many great players that you don't
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: even know who they are, right, who cares? Yeah, they're
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: so good though, but if one of the big names is,
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: you know up there, you know, on a Saturday or
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: Sunday of a major Bryson D. Shambo, right, just wanted
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: to see and stunner he did. M. Paul and the Colony.
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: Malcolm Butler feels like the right comp for J. C. Jackson,
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: which in his prime do you think was better? I
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: think jac a little bit better than just a little
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: bit better than Malcolm Butler. But Butler I think was
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: really tough, wasn't quite as big, didn't have the ball
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: skills that jay Z Jackson has. Yes, a little more physical,
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: as physical as Butler was. I think Jackson is a
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: little bit more. Uh. And he says if Jackson signed
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: somewhere else, won't we get a third round pick comp pick? Yeah? Yeah,
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: maybe it depends what you sign. Yeah, but a third
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: round comp pick is essentially the fourth round pick. Yeah.
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: If you trade with a team who has like a
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: top ten, now you're you know, the upper end of
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: that round instead of at the bottom end. It's this wait, this,
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: this woman that comes on this commercialist she from The
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: Fresh Prince. The old na wasn't on this one. Didn't
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: see it this commercial I think never mind, nobody knows
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: about Yeah, the older sister. Yeah, I was a big fan. Yeah,
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: what's not to like? Hillary Banks? I think her name
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: is Karen Parsons. Have you watched The new Fresh Prince?
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: I have not. Have you know? I heard it's a drama.
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: Well it looks like it's darker. Yeah, it's like a
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: lot of resentment. I think between Carlton and Will. Carlton
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: is skeptical as to why Will is there yeah, but
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: I have not seen it. I get too many I'm
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: in the middle of too many shows. I did catch
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: up with Ozark, though I know you don't watch Joe
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: zoch fred I do not good stuff. Seven episodes left. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: they come out in April, and then that'll be over all. Right,
