- 1:10Speaker 1: I got one in, I left, I lost the other one.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I don't know how.
- 1:15Speaker 5: Look, I got a secret looks Tory Lanez sen years.
- 1:24Speaker 4: What's your thoughts about that? Do y'all think it's fair?
- 1:26Speaker 5: I'm gonna say this. I'm not a girl who fears
- 1:29Speaker 5: cancelation of the culture. I feel like it was excessive.
- 1:33Speaker 5: I felt like ten it was so many loops in
- 1:38Speaker 5: this story for me that I literally couldn't pick aside
- 1:40Speaker 5: and go with him or her.
- 1:42Speaker 8: But I know, yeah, No, I think it was excessive.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I think it was a little bit of assessive as well.
- 1:49Speaker 7: The reason why I say that because honestly, I thought
- 1:52Speaker 7: Tory Lanez was gonna get off.
- 1:54Speaker 8: You did.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I honestly thought he was.
- 1:56Speaker 7: Gonna get off because and oh, cet, I know you're
- 1:59Speaker 7: looking at me crazy.
- 2:00Speaker 1: This is why I'm going to say this, Because when.
- 2:01Speaker 7: They were it was so much stuff going on, like
- 2:04Speaker 7: back and like it was just such a great crowd,
- 2:08Speaker 7: Like it's like all the information, you don't really know
- 2:10Speaker 7: what's going on based on what they was telling us.
- 2:13Speaker 7: And I've seen where they said that they couldn't find
- 2:16Speaker 7: his handprints on the.
- 2:18Speaker 8: Gun that blew me away.
- 2:20Speaker 1: So and you know, I don't know.
- 2:22Speaker 7: I'm not a lawyer, but I'm thinking, like everybody else, like, okay,
- 2:25Speaker 7: if you can't if this guy supposedly shot her the
- 2:29Speaker 7: prince his.
- 2:30Speaker 8: Gun, that would be on the gun if you did it.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:34Speaker 6: I think it was more so the cockiness and yeah,
- 2:37Speaker 6: spreading it.
- 2:38Speaker 8: It was an example being set. I love with this.
- 2:41Speaker 6: Because then they alleged was alleged that he was leaking
- 2:44Speaker 6: the information to academics.
- 2:47Speaker 7: Yeah, allegedly because Meghan posted that, Yo, how are you
- 2:53Speaker 7: getting this information? We ain't even went the we ain't
- 2:56Speaker 7: even inside the court room. Yeah, you know you posting
- 2:58Speaker 7: this stuff.
- 2:58Speaker 5: So it was an area there was because it was
- 3:01Speaker 5: such a big conversation. I felt like on his end,
- 3:04Speaker 5: he was kind of coming out already like I'm gonna.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Win this, and and I was thinking the same thing.
- 3:09Speaker 7: I was like the way he was acting, because you know,
- 3:11Speaker 7: allegedly he punched august Alsina, he didn't.
- 3:14Speaker 8: He didn't relax when it was time to.
- 3:17Speaker 7: Roll aloud and he and he broke his you know,
- 3:21Speaker 7: he had to stay away from her.
- 3:22Speaker 8: So he was playing voicemails. I don't know if you knew.
- 3:25Speaker 5: It's like voicemails being played on one of his mixtapes.
- 3:28Speaker 8: They made him remove it.
- 3:30Speaker 4: I'm like, bro, you need to be quiet right now
- 3:32Speaker 4: and remorseful.
- 3:33Speaker 7: Essentially, what you're in court for is to prove that
- 3:36Speaker 7: you are a human being that's you know, privileged to
- 3:39Speaker 7: be out here in the world. But when you're doing
- 3:42Speaker 7: all these things outside of court, when you come in,
- 3:45Speaker 7: you just looked at as a minute, So it doesn't
- 3:47Speaker 7: matter how good of a lawyer that you have.
- 3:49Speaker 1: They looking at you. It's like, okay, you're you.
- 3:51Speaker 7: You want to convince the jury that you're innocent and
- 3:55Speaker 7: you're not capable of.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Doing something like that.
- 3:58Speaker 7: But when we looking on the internet, it's suing that
- 4:00Speaker 7: you know, allegedly you punched August House Scene in the
- 4:02Speaker 7: face and you have said that you.
- 4:04Speaker 5: Didn't, and that kind of came That's what really affected him. Yeah,
- 4:07Speaker 5: he denied it fully, and then the clip came out
- 4:10Speaker 5: and it was like toy, what.
- 4:12Speaker 6: The yeah, and then he said that he would be
- 4:16Speaker 6: proven innocent.
- 4:17Speaker 4: That was one of his last tweets or something.
- 4:19Speaker 5: I think I stopped really giving my opinion on social
- 4:22Speaker 5: media because I was following following it like everybody else.
- 4:25Speaker 8: But when she said that they.
- 4:27Speaker 5: Were never sexual and that I promise you, that's when
- 4:31Speaker 5: I really was like, I went and took a lot
- 4:33Speaker 5: of tweets and I was like, let me just sit
- 4:35Speaker 5: back and just shut.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Up because you were staying with her.
- 4:37Speaker 5: At first, I was like, she's sleep with him, Like, oh,
- 4:40Speaker 5: maybe this was a reaction of a man being jealous
- 4:43Speaker 5: or whatever and being rejected. But when the courts proved
- 4:47Speaker 5: that they had been, you know, together, I was like, Amy,
- 4:51Speaker 5: shut up, don't even talk about this.
- 4:52Speaker 1: It was such a weird trial.
- 4:54Speaker 8: This is crazy.
- 4:54Speaker 7: But I think, you know, I think it's sat on
- 4:57Speaker 7: both parts man, because you know, Megan, this is something
- 5:00Speaker 7: she's gonna have to deal with the rest of her
- 5:01Speaker 7: life and her career. And we got to see another
- 5:03Speaker 7: black man, unfortunately, go to prison.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Career.
- 5:07Speaker 5: Yeah, he still has a chance. He's getting I just
- 5:09Speaker 5: saw he's getting out. I think at forty seven, if
- 5:11Speaker 5: he does the full time, he gonna do the full time.
- 5:14Speaker 8: No celebrity ever does the even a few years away
- 5:18Speaker 8: from your kids.
- 5:18Speaker 1: When it's like, oh, one.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Thing, we do know for sure, he going he going
- 5:22Speaker 4: back to Canada.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Oh deported.
- 5:25Speaker 6: Oh he is going back and as you're done here,
- 5:28Speaker 6: you're going back to Canada, buddy, they're not even about
- 5:30Speaker 6: to play.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I wouldn't wish prison on no old body.
- 5:33Speaker 8: Yeah, no, especially team.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I watched it.
- 5:35Speaker 7: I watched too many crazy prison stuff did you see
- 5:38Speaker 7: in movies? And I was like, that's not the place
- 5:40Speaker 7: that I think anybody should should be living here.
- 5:43Speaker 5: And then when you're coming from such a successful life
- 5:46Speaker 5: and on a fight all the money, imagine, it's different
- 5:48Speaker 5: being a mall time millionaire going.
- 5:50Speaker 6: To prison, and it's different being black going to prison
- 5:52Speaker 6: because I'm pretty sure his experience isn't the same as
- 5:55Speaker 6: Chris Lee's.
- 5:57Speaker 7: Oh no, but you know he's gonna he's gonna be
- 6:00Speaker 7: what I was reading about it. He's going to be
- 6:01Speaker 7: in higher power, which is protective custody, So he's going
- 6:05Speaker 7: to be on lockdown majority of the time.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Tori. Yeah, Oh I didn't know that.
- 6:09Speaker 7: Yeah, when you're a celebrity, you know, is that good
- 6:13Speaker 7: or bad?
- 6:14Speaker 5: All them years on lockdown and I don't know. They
- 6:17Speaker 5: put me out there with the wolves. I'm not trying
- 6:19Speaker 5: to be in my little corner cubicle on.
- 6:21Speaker 7: Yeah, because imagine you've been locked down for like ninety
- 6:25Speaker 7: percent of the day.
- 6:26Speaker 1: No.
- 6:27Speaker 6: Another sad case man, Raven Simone was encouraged to get
- 6:30Speaker 6: surgery by her father.
- 6:33Speaker 9: Had two breast productions in lipol before I turned eighteen.
- 6:37Speaker 9: My dad suggested strongly that I should get my breast reduced.
- 6:42Speaker 4: He was like, so you don't feel bad?
- 6:44Speaker 9: Is there anything you want? I was like what I
- 6:46Speaker 9: was like, Yeah, if I get lightpol people stop calling
- 6:48Speaker 9: me fat.
- 6:49Speaker 8: That's sick.
- 6:50Speaker 4: That is sick.
- 6:50Speaker 7: That six that's so sad man. It's like people don't
- 6:54Speaker 7: even allow people to be people. People who cares about
- 6:58Speaker 7: somebody being fat or skinned or big or tall.
- 7:01Speaker 8: And your dad is pushing it.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Who is her father telling her some stuff like that
- 7:06Speaker 1: before eighteen?
- 7:07Speaker 6: Yeah, like because she was She had a hit TV
- 7:10Speaker 6: show That's all Raven.
- 7:11Speaker 4: This is that's so Raven days.
- 7:12Speaker 8: You know, yeah, she.
- 7:14Speaker 7: But nobody, nobody on that show ever thought she was fat,
- 7:18Speaker 7: like I watched her, But she said.
- 7:21Speaker 4: She was being told that so Hollywood, you know.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, she looked like my cousin I was growing up.
- 7:29Speaker 1: That was normal for us.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Looking at her, It's just like Jennifer Husband.
- 7:32Speaker 6: She said she didn't know, she was fat until she
- 7:34Speaker 6: left Chicago, till she left.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Her comfort zone.
- 7:37Speaker 6: You know, we we don't see it as that, but
- 7:40Speaker 6: you know, when Raven was hot. She first off, she's
- 7:43Speaker 6: a child star. But when she really you know, came
- 7:45Speaker 6: and peaked, that's so Raven. You's got to think about it.
- 7:49Speaker 6: You know, he had all the skinny girls at that time.
- 7:51Speaker 8: They were trying to under one hundred pounds.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Guy.
- 7:55Speaker 1: But I feel like everybody in Hollywood, skinny.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Especially but especially trying to be are killing themselves to
- 8:01Speaker 5: become skinny like that.
- 8:03Speaker 6: Beyonce was skinny back then, you know, going on dice
- 8:06Speaker 6: to look a certain way.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Yep, that was that time. Now they're trying to look thicker.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Time has changed.
- 8:14Speaker 8: Time has changed.
- 8:15Speaker 1: You got the big girl supermodels now.
- 8:17Speaker 5: But that's why you shouldn't be helped telling kids to
- 8:19Speaker 5: change their body so early, because look how times have
- 8:22Speaker 5: changed where you at one point, obviously the BBO was
- 8:26Speaker 5: like the big thing in our community. Now if you
- 8:28Speaker 5: look all those celebrities that people went and followed, they're
- 8:31Speaker 5: going back to being slim, They're going back to being fit,
- 8:34Speaker 5: and now people are starving themselves to go back to it.
- 8:37Speaker 7: Like when I was growing up, I didn't even know
- 8:40Speaker 7: nothing about what surgery was.
- 8:41Speaker 1: I thought surgery was like if you broke your leg,
- 8:43Speaker 1: me too, you know what I'm saying, me too.
- 8:45Speaker 7: That was like these kids nowadays, and you know, middle
- 8:48Speaker 7: school in high school, they know what like bbl yea.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I would never know what any of those things were.
- 8:53Speaker 1: You know, it's social media.
- 8:55Speaker 5: We're in a time where we are just overdoing a lot.
- 8:58Speaker 5: I'm around so many girls, they just change so quick
- 9:01Speaker 5: in front of me, and it's it's social media.
- 9:04Speaker 6: Well, you know, there's a lot of girls changing on
- 9:06Speaker 6: Lizzo right now because six more girls have come out
- 9:11Speaker 6: and uh said that she created a hostile work environment
- 9:16Speaker 6: and some of the new complaints saying that she's failed
- 9:20Speaker 6: to pay them all. These employees worked on her watch
- 9:23Speaker 6: Out for the Big Girls Amazon series and her tour.
- 9:26Speaker 1: What are they looking a game from this situation? Because
- 9:29Speaker 1: some money, some money. So Lizzo just paid these people.
- 9:33Speaker 1: So they go away once.
- 9:34Speaker 5: She starts doing that, and it's like, Okay, she's just
- 9:36Speaker 5: gonna pay out.
- 9:37Speaker 1: If she's stills salegations are wild.
- 9:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I think if she starts setting with people, they're
- 9:42Speaker 6: gonna think it's true.
- 9:43Speaker 5: It is, yeah, but if you don't pay them is
- 9:46Speaker 5: giving It's like she's just.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Gonna get dragged out.
- 9:49Speaker 7: Like you don't what always wonder This is what always
- 9:52Speaker 7: wondered every time we look up and we see like,
- 9:55Speaker 7: you know, celebrities, they're they're getting suit or allegations.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Why is always like it's twenty more people just come
- 10:02Speaker 1: out of.
- 10:03Speaker 5: The everybody's vocal suddenly everybody's That's the part that makes
- 10:07Speaker 5: it always sketchy for me because I'm like, dude, where
- 10:10Speaker 5: were you if this happened to you a year ago?
- 10:12Speaker 8: Why are you speaking of now?
- 10:14Speaker 5: Well, finally somebody use their voice while I'm feeling, you know,
- 10:16Speaker 5: brave enough to do it all twenty of y'all.
- 10:19Speaker 7: And I mean, if she did do that, you know,
- 10:21Speaker 7: I hope they get I hope they get paid, and
- 10:23Speaker 7: I hope they get taken care of it. If they
- 10:25Speaker 7: really were in a hostile environment and you know, they
- 10:28Speaker 7: were forced to do things that they didn't want to do.
- 10:31Speaker 1: It's just one time.
- 10:32Speaker 5: For me to feel like what these girls are seeing,
- 10:34Speaker 5: where was some sexual weirdness going on? I'm dismissing myself
- 10:39Speaker 5: and you don't got a worry about me?
- 10:40Speaker 1: Coming back.
- 10:40Speaker 5: I'm suing you because you got your one time to
- 10:43Speaker 5: put me in that position.
- 10:44Speaker 1: But they were a legend.
- 10:46Speaker 8: They just kept dealing with it.
- 10:48Speaker 5: And that's the part is like when is y'all where's
- 10:51Speaker 5: y'all accountability? If you kept coming with your crazy tell self,
- 10:55Speaker 5: you kept showing up, and it was just it got
- 10:58Speaker 5: to the point it was unbearable.
- 11:00Speaker 8: You didn't have to come back after the first time.
- 11:03Speaker 7: If your boss did anything and told you to do
- 11:06Speaker 7: something that you were not comfortable doing, you have every
- 11:09Speaker 7: opportunity to.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Leave, every opportunity I had to.
- 11:13Speaker 7: I had to touch a dick and I like and
- 11:17Speaker 7: then they probably touched that dick and was like, I
- 11:19Speaker 7: probably get I could probably suit this bitch for having
- 11:21Speaker 7: to touch.
- 11:21Speaker 5: This dick because I'm just trying to see why did
- 11:23Speaker 5: Why would Lizzeo have had to be so hands on
- 11:25Speaker 5: to be like, come here, you're gonna touch this?
- 11:27Speaker 8: Like what's it?
- 11:28Speaker 4: Your team trying to hang out with her, like trying
- 11:31Speaker 4: to be cool.
- 11:33Speaker 6: And the thing is they don't know the difference, like
- 11:35Speaker 6: I'm not your friend, your boss, but.
- 11:38Speaker 7: A lot of a lot of a lot of these
- 11:39Speaker 7: like these workers they be trying to get with these
- 11:42Speaker 7: celebrities and be hanging around.
- 11:43Speaker 1: They like, damn, this nigga smoke crack. I didn't know
- 11:45Speaker 1: that he tried to give me to smoke some cracks.
- 11:47Speaker 1: That's why you gotta work. And then don't go with
- 11:50Speaker 1: your boss.
- 11:50Speaker 7: Don't hang out and have cocktails with your body fragnizing.
- 11:54Speaker 8: That's that's the real problem.
- 11:56Speaker 2: We'll be right back with more of the Baller Alert Show.
- 12:02Speaker 2: You're listening to a special edition of the Baller Alert Show.
- 12:05Speaker 8: What's Up?
- 12:06Speaker 5: Y'all's Amy Luciani and you are now tuned into.
- 12:09Speaker 1: The Baller Alert Show.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Back with more of the Butler Alert Show. Amy Luciani
- 12:13Speaker 4: hanging out with us.
- 12:14Speaker 1: What Up? Alert? And we've been doing some talking going on.
- 12:17Speaker 5: We've been I'm on my mind. I'm just thinking all
- 12:20Speaker 5: this mass is going on in the world.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Yeah, but now it's all about you, man.
- 12:24Speaker 6: We want to know a little bit more about Amy
- 12:26Speaker 6: l Yes, are you half Italian?
- 12:29Speaker 5: Or where's I am? Fully black baby? Okay with an
- 12:32Speaker 5: Italian stage name? Okay, but it's it's the story behind
- 12:36Speaker 5: it all right, Well, let us know where that came from.
- 12:38Speaker 1: First?
- 12:38Speaker 4: Where are you from Detroit?
- 12:39Speaker 5: You said, Yep, I've been in Atlanta for some years,
- 12:42Speaker 5: just pursuing the music, really just working my business, working
- 12:47Speaker 5: my brand. My government name is Ambarrolls, reallytic, yeah, hyphen a.
- 12:52Speaker 5: That's my first name, the real Ambarrolls. So I always
- 12:56Speaker 5: tell people, like so many people are confused when they
- 12:58Speaker 5: watch my Instagram or different platforms I'm on and my
- 13:03Speaker 5: original og fans that's been here from the beginning, They'll
- 13:06Speaker 5: be like, oh, I love that Ambrose or Ambrose, you
- 13:08Speaker 5: look so pretty at that and people like this, I mean,
- 13:10Speaker 5: why do you call her Ambrose?
- 13:13Speaker 8: I'm so confused. I'm like, see, y'all don't even know.
- 13:16Speaker 8: You don't even know.
- 13:18Speaker 5: It's no middle name, just ambar Rolls.
- 13:24Speaker 8: My grandmother's name is Rose Marie.
- 13:26Speaker 5: When Ambrose was like really popping and really like doing
- 13:30Speaker 5: her thing, this around Kanye time, I was doing a
- 13:33Speaker 5: lot of musical shows and open mic. This is like
- 13:35Speaker 5: the first stage of being a rapper. Like I'm in Detroit,
- 13:38Speaker 5: Yeah no, I was in Atlanta.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I moved here right out of high school.
- 13:41Speaker 5: Okay, So I was just doing a lot of performances.
- 13:45Speaker 5: And of course it's my government name, so it's Ambrose
- 13:48Speaker 5: on all the flyers, and it would be so many
- 13:50Speaker 5: awkward positions where I would be in, like where people
- 13:53Speaker 5: might show up at different events and be like I
- 13:55Speaker 5: saw the name of Ambar rolls on here, like you're black,
- 13:58Speaker 5: I'm so confused. Who were you? And I'm like, that's
- 14:00Speaker 5: my name? What's this other girl named Ambrose? And I
- 14:03Speaker 5: start getting hip to her and I'm like what the hell?
- 14:07Speaker 5: And from there, I was sitting there and I'm like,
- 14:09Speaker 5: I'm so tired of asking, i mean, being being asked
- 14:12Speaker 5: a question like why are you going with the name Ambrose?
- 14:15Speaker 8: Why'd you copy this girl from?
- 14:17Speaker 1: You know?
- 14:18Speaker 8: And I just got tired of pulling out the id,
- 14:20Speaker 8: like now, what were you saying?
- 14:21Speaker 1: Baby? So that's what made you say?
- 14:22Speaker 5: That's not her real name, No, shade, that's not her
- 14:25Speaker 5: real name. So I'm like, I'm copying the name.
- 14:28Speaker 1: That's not even her name.
- 14:28Speaker 5: This is my government name. So one day I just
- 14:31Speaker 5: came up with the artist's name. I was just like,
- 14:33Speaker 5: you know, let's switch it up, let's do a little
- 14:35Speaker 5: quick reinvention.
- 14:36Speaker 4: How'd you come with Amy?
- 14:37Speaker 1: Though?
- 14:38Speaker 5: I was always giving guys the name Amy in the club,
- 14:40Speaker 5: just like if I don't want to talk to him,
- 14:42Speaker 5: I was always Amy, So that was your alter ego. Always,
- 14:45Speaker 5: so many guys like you remember me Amy? I know
- 14:48Speaker 5: that was something I was ignoring. If a dude used
- 14:50Speaker 5: to say Amy to me, I knew I wasn't interest.
- 14:52Speaker 1: You'd be like you called me? What that was the that.
- 14:55Speaker 5: Was the yeah, or dude saying like hey Amy and
- 14:57Speaker 5: so and so like oh, I definitely not really want
- 15:00Speaker 5: to get him my number. So Amy was always a
- 15:03Speaker 5: funny thing with me and my friends like Amy. They
- 15:05Speaker 5: bring me to somebody like, yeah, you told me you're
- 15:07Speaker 5: you're Amy?
- 15:09Speaker 1: Yes, friend, I'm Amy. That's my name.
- 15:10Speaker 4: I think we all do that.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I haven't you do.
- 15:13Speaker 4: Different names though.
- 15:16Speaker 1: So that's the thing that women do.
- 15:17Speaker 8: It's a thing we do when we don't want to
- 15:19Speaker 8: be friends.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Know where you're going? Who are you gonna be? Okay,
- 15:21Speaker 1: I beat this, I'm all right. I never knew that.
- 15:24Speaker 8: Oh it's the thing. C B T.
- 15:25Speaker 1: You look good.
- 15:26Speaker 5: You know you probably wasn't getting that. We was giving
- 15:29Speaker 5: that to guys in the club for sure, So what's
- 15:32Speaker 5: the aim. I'd be like, oh, hey, sometimes I forget myself.
- 15:35Speaker 5: So when I was thinking of yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 6: Everybody ain't seen that Living single episode where Max gave
- 15:42Speaker 6: her name as Chakuan, and the dude was like, Shaquan.
- 15:45Speaker 4: You gonna ignore me all night.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I'm lame.
- 15:47Speaker 8: I haven't seen it.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I haven't seen it.
- 15:48Speaker 5: Either, Okay, I gotta watch I haven't seen it.
- 15:52Speaker 8: Don't don't take all black car now take it because
- 15:55Speaker 8: I still haven't. I'm not going there. I haven't seen
- 15:57Speaker 8: a movie that.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Oh that was U.
- 15:58Speaker 5: That's living that's a show. Yeah, but it's a movie
- 16:01Speaker 5: I haven't seen. If I told y'all, but I'm not
- 16:03Speaker 5: tell us, y'all would take her.
- 16:05Speaker 1: No, you're.
- 16:08Speaker 5: No, I haven't seen Best Men. Oh are boys in
- 16:13Speaker 5: the Hood yet?
- 16:14Speaker 1: You ain't seen boys in the hood.
- 16:15Speaker 4: She's giving amy.
- 16:17Speaker 1: She's definitely given amy.
- 16:18Speaker 5: And if I react like that, I haven't seen boys
- 16:20Speaker 5: in the Hood yet.
- 16:21Speaker 1: That's a classic.
- 16:22Speaker 5: I tried to y'all, try to literally try to sit
- 16:27Speaker 5: and watch it. Something always happened. I never can watch
- 16:29Speaker 5: the like.
- 16:30Speaker 1: And then you'll see a lot of the stars in
- 16:31Speaker 1: there that are that are like.
- 16:33Speaker 6: Starch Chestnut and all the start. You know, she don't
- 16:36Speaker 6: seen Best Men.
- 16:36Speaker 1: So yeah, I haven't seen best You could play that
- 16:38Speaker 1: game before.
- 16:41Speaker 8: Fox, Yeah I have seen that.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna take gonna take back in the day.
- 16:46Speaker 4: You wasn't watching movies.
- 16:47Speaker 5: Girl, I've been doing the music since a kid, literally
- 16:52Speaker 5: on TV doing this. My mom did not play. We
- 16:55Speaker 5: was me and my sisters were in a singing group.
- 16:57Speaker 8: We were on a tour.
- 16:58Speaker 5: We used to be the open act for five Wow
- 17:00Speaker 5: Maine dupri B two k Entrance was four little middle
- 17:05Speaker 5: schoolers wrapping Detroit, all four of us. So I didn't
- 17:08Speaker 5: get to really see a lot of the stuff. But
- 17:10Speaker 5: you know, I sit down sometime and when friends tell me, like, girl,
- 17:13Speaker 5: ain't no way you haven't heard this or watch this,
- 17:17Speaker 5: I'll sit down and catch up.
- 17:18Speaker 8: But I'm typically late to a lot of Yeah, mama
- 17:21Speaker 8: was Joe or something. She was definitely yes, And that's funny.
- 17:24Speaker 5: My mom name is last name was Jackson and first
- 17:28Speaker 5: name started with a J. So people my friends used
- 17:31Speaker 5: to be like, your mom is scary, she's Joe Jackson.
- 17:33Speaker 8: Like, are y'all still up there rehearsing? Yes, we still
- 17:35Speaker 8: are Wow.
- 17:37Speaker 7: But really that's good because listening to your story, it
- 17:40Speaker 7: kind of reminds me of like Coco Jones story, right,
- 17:43Speaker 7: Like how she was talking about how long she was
- 17:45Speaker 7: doing music and stuff like that. And it really just
- 17:48Speaker 7: shows you how long it actually takes to actually really
- 17:52Speaker 7: do this business.
- 17:53Speaker 5: It is not something that happens overnight. I just posted
- 17:57Speaker 5: a clip of my sisters and I on the Jenny
- 18:00Speaker 5: Jones Show.
- 18:01Speaker 8: I was twelve. I was twelve performing and.
- 18:05Speaker 5: So when someone sent in they said, ayy is this
- 18:07Speaker 5: you on this show? And I'm like, I was sewing beers.
- 18:10Speaker 5: I was like, oh my god, yes that was me
- 18:12Speaker 5: and your sisters.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Where are they at? Do they still do music?
- 18:15Speaker 5: So I will always tell people it doesn't happen overnight,
- 18:18Speaker 5: Like the success, don't even put a date on it.
- 18:20Speaker 5: If you really love what you're doing, is just gonna happen.
- 18:23Speaker 5: But if you sitting there like I'm giving myself the
- 18:25Speaker 5: next summer to become a baby, you and ron business already,
- 18:29Speaker 5: you already starting wrong.
- 18:30Speaker 4: So did your mom push you to go to Atlanta
- 18:33Speaker 4: to still do music?
- 18:34Speaker 1: She did.
- 18:35Speaker 5: My mom still manages me to this day. I'm still
- 18:37Speaker 5: my mama jer for all my sisters. One is a
- 18:40Speaker 5: tattoo artist, one is a set in design creative person.
- 18:43Speaker 5: So my mom definitely I told her right out of
- 18:46Speaker 5: high school, like, yeah, I'm leaving Detroit.
- 18:48Speaker 1: There's no way I'm gonna be here, like trying to be.
- 18:50Speaker 5: Great, and she was like, oh, you should go, and
- 18:54Speaker 5: then she moved the same year here. Okay, so now
- 18:56Speaker 5: we are all Now all of us are here, all your sisters,
- 19:00Speaker 5: all of us.
- 19:01Speaker 4: That's support right there. A lot of people don't get that.
- 19:04Speaker 8: My mom day one support.
- 19:05Speaker 1: So finding your.
- 19:06Speaker 4: Footing in music, what was the what was that breakthrough moment?
- 19:11Speaker 5: I would say the breakthrough moment for me was really
- 19:15Speaker 5: when I stopped trying to go after a deal and
- 19:19Speaker 5: really like, have these goals of I'm gonna sign to
- 19:22Speaker 5: this person. I was putting too much on the calendar
- 19:25Speaker 5: of like dates and timelines and deadlines, And when I
- 19:29Speaker 5: stopped doing that and was like, no, you're just gonna
- 19:31Speaker 5: go out there.
- 19:32Speaker 8: You're gonna be a music artist.
- 19:33Speaker 5: You're gonna meet people on network and let it come
- 19:36Speaker 5: to you versus I think every independent artist or artist
- 19:40Speaker 5: at that has a moment where it's like you feel
- 19:42Speaker 5: this little desperation you've been doing it for a minute.
- 19:45Speaker 5: You kind of felt like, no, like I'm gonna go
- 19:47Speaker 5: ahead and sign to them. I'm a When I stopped
- 19:50Speaker 5: looking at things like deadline dates, kind of I feel
- 19:54Speaker 5: like things change.
- 19:55Speaker 8: So now everything I do is like, this is what
- 19:58Speaker 8: I want to do.
- 19:59Speaker 1: It's gonna come to me.
- 20:01Speaker 8: It's like everything changed in my career.
- 20:03Speaker 5: When I stop, I say being thirsty for it, but
- 20:05Speaker 5: people say, heyman, you've never been thirsty.
- 20:07Speaker 8: But I felt that I wanted it too bad at
- 20:10Speaker 8: one point and I was like, dang.
- 20:13Speaker 5: I'm like putting these dates and stuff. And I met
- 20:16Speaker 5: a person they were like, just do it. Stop trying
- 20:18Speaker 5: to put a date and cap a date on what's
- 20:20Speaker 5: going to happen. You love doing this, girl, Just wake
- 20:22Speaker 5: up and do it. And I feel like that's what
- 20:25Speaker 5: just changed everything for me.
- 20:27Speaker 7: That's what a lot of the Grace talk about as well,
- 20:30Speaker 7: about how people are, you know, they want to be
- 20:34Speaker 7: successful in this business so bad bad, and they forget
- 20:38Speaker 7: to like have fun, enjoy it. I think about the money,
- 20:42Speaker 7: and I think about those things because those things are
- 20:44Speaker 7: going to eventually come.
- 20:45Speaker 1: But I forgot who posted this on Instagram.
- 20:49Speaker 7: Somebody said, if you're not willing to be broke for
- 20:52Speaker 7: ten years, then don't get into the entertainment business. This
- 20:55Speaker 7: is true, and that was probably the realist quote that
- 20:58Speaker 7: I've ever seen about the the entertainment business.
- 21:01Speaker 5: Yeah, if you know as an artist, what we really
- 21:04Speaker 5: go through, like one hundred doors to get one. The
- 21:08Speaker 5: average person can't take one hundred doors. It just breaks
- 21:11Speaker 5: their hun My bad. Yeah, a lot of people cannot
- 21:14Speaker 5: take a hundred no's. It feels like, Okay, you have
- 21:19Speaker 5: a moment in your career, like maybe this ain't for me,
- 21:21Speaker 5: but the ones that make it and they really go
- 21:24Speaker 5: and have these long careers, I'll be sitting there like
- 21:26Speaker 5: I have nothing bad to say because to make it
- 21:29Speaker 5: that far, trust me, they sent a lot of meetings
- 21:31Speaker 5: where they were told not good enough, not pretty enough,
- 21:34Speaker 5: or he doesn't look good. And to make it, it's
- 21:37Speaker 5: like if you knew what we go through, to break
- 21:40Speaker 5: a little bit of a stride is not an easy
- 21:43Speaker 5: thing to do. So I just got so much respect
- 21:46Speaker 5: for a lot of artists. That's why I don't really
- 21:47Speaker 5: pick the size on this girl that Nikki's the Cardi's.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So that doesn't That doesn't upset you.
- 21:54Speaker 7: Know you don't feel like the industry is like colorists, Yeah,
- 21:58Speaker 7: I do, but.
- 21:59Speaker 5: I don't let it upset me. Yeah, Like I'm so different.
- 22:02Speaker 5: The industry is very colorless, But I don't cry about
- 22:05Speaker 5: it because I live it every day. Every day I
- 22:07Speaker 5: wake up like this. I deal with it on so
- 22:11Speaker 5: many levels. But it's been happening so long that I
- 22:15Speaker 5: feel like to start crying and complaining and overshadowing the
- 22:19Speaker 5: music and what I'm here to do with the blogs
- 22:21Speaker 5: eating up And he's talking about colorism again, like I've
- 22:24Speaker 5: already talked about it.
- 22:25Speaker 8: People were like agreeing.
- 22:27Speaker 5: A lot of big celebrities like right, and like, girl,
- 22:29Speaker 5: I've been through that. Keep your head up now. It's
- 22:32Speaker 5: like you just gotta live around it and in it.
- 22:35Speaker 5: But it is a real thing in.
- 22:36Speaker 7: The industry, so you really feel like the labels are
- 22:39Speaker 7: pushing light skin rappers or.
- 22:42Speaker 5: For sure the numbers, the numbers prove it's a historic thing.
- 22:46Speaker 8: It's not a new thing.
- 22:47Speaker 5: It's a historic thing that lighter looks brighter and looks
- 22:51Speaker 5: more appealing to the eye, and it looks more endorsable
- 22:54Speaker 5: and more. It's true, you're gonna get maybe you have
- 22:59Speaker 5: to get like one or two token black girls that
- 23:02Speaker 5: really wrap in the game.
- 23:03Speaker 8: Every so a couple of years, every couple of years, but.
- 23:06Speaker 5: It's so many more of us that are so talented,
- 23:09Speaker 5: and the conversation like why isn't so and so made
- 23:11Speaker 5: and so and so, she's so talent talented, I'd be
- 23:14Speaker 5: sitting there looking like I can assure you right now,
- 23:18Speaker 5: if she bleached herself just a little bit.
- 23:21Speaker 8: When a little blonde and did a little.
- 23:23Speaker 5: Lighter, you will see a stride start happening little by little.
- 23:28Speaker 1: It's factual.
- 23:29Speaker 6: Yes, you share an experience of a color situation that
- 23:33Speaker 6: you've personally dealt.
- 23:34Speaker 5: With, Oh for sure, I'll share two actually, but one
- 23:40Speaker 5: quick one. The first one that I encountered. It was like,
- 23:43Speaker 5: WHOA a few years ago when I was doing like
- 23:48Speaker 5: I would do video girl work, meaning on a professional level,
- 23:51Speaker 5: if they needed a video model, I had a person.
- 23:53Speaker 8: It was kind of booking me and I would go.
- 23:55Speaker 5: And I remember one particular video I was invited out
- 23:59Speaker 5: and it was a bunch of girls there and this
- 24:01Speaker 5: is like one of the biggest rappers in the world
- 24:03Speaker 5: still to this day. And I remember being in the
- 24:06Speaker 5: back and it was me and it was about two
- 24:08Speaker 5: other One girl was my color, but one was probably
- 24:11Speaker 5: dark as this mic, but she was just gorgeous, drop
- 24:14Speaker 5: that dead gorgeous, right, And I remember kind of being
- 24:16Speaker 5: in the back and they had sub sandwiches for everybody,
- 24:18Speaker 5: and we have to be in this one area where
- 24:20Speaker 5: you can hear this. The artist when he walked on
- 24:23Speaker 5: the set, he said it. It was not he tried
- 24:25Speaker 5: to hide it. He didn't try to whisper it. He
- 24:28Speaker 5: came on, was like, where the other girls at? Where
- 24:29Speaker 5: the rest of the girls at the red Where the
- 24:32Speaker 5: red girls at? You already know what I told y'all
- 24:34Speaker 5: to bring. They were like, we have a lot of them.
- 24:36Speaker 5: We have only like five brown skinned girl. He straight
- 24:39Speaker 5: up was like, they're not doing get the girls. I
- 24:43Speaker 5: asked for her to come and not hear. The girl like,
- 24:45Speaker 5: I don't know she was an assistant, I don't know
- 24:47Speaker 5: who she was, but we can hear. We were right
- 24:49Speaker 5: there on the set, but we're kind of away, but
- 24:51Speaker 5: I'm sitting there eating the sandwich like.
- 24:52Speaker 1: He ain't even trying to whisper this.
- 24:54Speaker 5: And the girls were like, we're used to this, and
- 24:56Speaker 5: I said, it's sad, I've never encountered this. But the
- 24:59Speaker 5: girl dark like this was like I deal with it
- 25:01Speaker 5: every video I pop.
- 25:02Speaker 8: Up too, And I was like, you still do it.
- 25:05Speaker 8: He literally was like, this ain't what I asked for.
- 25:08Speaker 5: Where's the light skinned girls, like one or two of
- 25:11Speaker 5: them can stay, but all five of them no. I
- 25:14Speaker 5: had never heard that before, and I'm thinking I ain't
- 25:17Speaker 5: even that dark. But if I was, they dismissed us
- 25:21Speaker 5: off to say, I promise you.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Wow.
- 25:23Speaker 5: First of all, we sat for about two hours, and
- 25:25Speaker 5: I was sitting there like I should really get up
- 25:27Speaker 5: and leave myself. But just being transparent, I was broke
- 25:31Speaker 5: around that time. I had bills, we were getting paid
- 25:33Speaker 5: a decent check, and I'm like, I'm gonna see this
- 25:36Speaker 5: through because I need the money. But a little bit
- 25:38Speaker 5: of me sat there and was just like, this is
- 25:41Speaker 5: disgusting that we're here dealing with this and this person
- 25:44Speaker 5: is blacker than me.
- 25:46Speaker 1: This artist is darker than me.
- 25:47Speaker 8: Who said it two times darker than me? And I
- 25:50Speaker 8: just was like, dang, for sure, And.
- 25:53Speaker 7: I'm pretty sure you probably was a fan of them,
- 25:55Speaker 7: and then it probably kind of turned you off with
- 25:57Speaker 7: their music.
- 25:58Speaker 5: Look, I was definitely turned if I don't listen to
- 26:00Speaker 5: this artist to this day. And this artist has said
- 26:03Speaker 5: several things out loud about brown skinned women and liking
- 26:06Speaker 5: them read better. He's still doing it to this day.
- 26:09Speaker 5: But I stopped being a fan years ago. But to
- 26:11Speaker 5: see when I see like black women still like common
- 26:14Speaker 5: and supporting them. I just be still confused. But again,
- 26:17Speaker 5: I'm a lane rider. I know how to shut my mouth,
- 26:20Speaker 5: but I know I don't support.
- 26:21Speaker 8: Them at all.
- 26:22Speaker 5: So another time I was had opportunity through an agency
- 26:28Speaker 5: I was with that they were looking for a model
- 26:30Speaker 5: to be like on a book cover. It was a
- 26:32Speaker 5: black author and they were the agency. You know, they
- 26:34Speaker 5: pulled me in a couple of girls, and they accidentally
- 26:37Speaker 5: put me in the wrong email chat where the person
- 26:40Speaker 5: who book it was his agency hit the agency or
- 26:44Speaker 5: the manager was like, he does not want a brown
- 26:46Speaker 5: skinned girl like he wants blazing.
- 26:48Speaker 8: He wants a black and agent, you know, a girl
- 26:51Speaker 8: that's mixed.
- 26:52Speaker 5: And everybody in the chat voted me to be on
- 26:55Speaker 5: the cover of the book.
- 26:56Speaker 8: I promise you.
- 26:57Speaker 5: They were like, we don't care what all these people
- 27:00Speaker 5: and it's chatter saying he does not want a brownskin
- 27:03Speaker 5: girl on here. And this was again a person who
- 27:05Speaker 5: was two times darker than me. So I was like,
- 27:09Speaker 5: how did I It was several girls going for the
- 27:11Speaker 5: book opportunity. However, that went and I was excited because
- 27:16Speaker 5: after weeks of them doing a negotiation, when they added
- 27:18Speaker 5: me to the email, they were like, Amy, they picked you,
- 27:20Speaker 5: like everybody on here wanted you.
- 27:22Speaker 8: And then a person came in.
- 27:23Speaker 5: I'm sure she meant to send it separately, but she
- 27:26Speaker 5: went into the email and was like, he does not
- 27:28Speaker 5: want a brown skin girl on the cover.
- 27:31Speaker 8: Like we made that clear.
- 27:32Speaker 5: And next thing, you know, next day I got to text, sorry, Amy,
- 27:36Speaker 5: you know we all picked you, but they want to
- 27:38Speaker 5: go a different ride.
- 27:38Speaker 8: I was like, I was on the email. I saw
- 27:40Speaker 8: you weren't supposed to be on that one.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 27:43Speaker 8: I was like, oh, that's weird, but okay, I just
- 27:48Speaker 8: got to learn to live around it for real food.
- 27:50Speaker 8: But it's the thing is very real.
- 27:53Speaker 6: And does that make you feel any type of way
- 27:56Speaker 6: towards lighter skin people.
- 27:59Speaker 1: No, not at all.
- 28:01Speaker 5: If anything, makes me feel sad for us as a community,
- 28:04Speaker 5: because this is been something we've been dealing with for
- 28:07Speaker 5: a long time. This isn't an overnight conversation. It's one
- 28:10Speaker 5: of them conversations that when people have it, us brown
- 28:14Speaker 5: skinned girls kind of look like crybabies, sort of save face.
- 28:17Speaker 5: A lot of us don't talk about it, but it's
- 28:19Speaker 5: a conversation that if you probably put ten dark skinned
- 28:22Speaker 5: women in the room some of the stories will be
- 28:24Speaker 5: probably horrific of how they tried to pin us against
- 28:28Speaker 5: when it's like, my mentality is, you can be dark skinned,
- 28:31Speaker 5: light skin, white brown.
- 28:32Speaker 8: And be beautiful.
- 28:33Speaker 5: You can be light skin and not be that appealing
- 28:35Speaker 5: to the eyes. You can be dark skin and not
- 28:37Speaker 5: be appealing. But it's sad that it's our community that
- 28:41Speaker 5: does it. You don't hear white people saying it. You
- 28:43Speaker 5: don't hear even really Caribbean people. It's more of us,
- 28:47Speaker 5: that conversation of she's lighter, she looks better. It's not
- 28:51Speaker 5: even other ethnicity saying it. So to me, it's like,
- 28:56Speaker 5: I don't know. I just try to be more inclusive
- 28:59Speaker 5: with my music. I do a lot of music big
- 29:01Speaker 5: and brown skinned women up. I have been on the
- 29:04Speaker 5: chopping block for that. I just recently ended up on
- 29:07Speaker 5: a blog for a comment that I responded to a
- 29:10Speaker 5: song I put out, and the girl said, it's funny
- 29:12Speaker 5: that you only put dark skinned women in the video.
- 29:15Speaker 5: You're being just how you're saying people are. But my
- 29:19Speaker 5: thought process was typically, y'all wonn't putting none of them
- 29:21Speaker 5: in the video. I made sure I put all of them,
- 29:25Speaker 5: and I purposely put some girls that weren't what you
- 29:27Speaker 5: would call a fine girl. Some of them was big,
- 29:30Speaker 5: some of them had what people would consider nappy hair.
- 29:33Speaker 5: I was like, I love it. I want you to
- 29:35Speaker 5: be in a video with your afro and on. And
- 29:37Speaker 5: people were like, where are the light skin girls? Where
- 29:39Speaker 5: are the white girls? You're really the prejudice one. And
- 29:42Speaker 5: I'm like, listen, you can't win this war, but I'm
- 29:46Speaker 5: going to make them feel beautiful for a time in
- 29:48Speaker 5: a video. And I did it, and I felt good
- 29:51Speaker 5: looking at the video, like they deserve a shine and
- 29:54Speaker 5: be made to feel pretty, even if the world is
- 29:56Speaker 5: saying they're not so child, I'm doing it for us.
- 29:59Speaker 5: I'm in the a black woman experience. I'm a dark
- 30:01Speaker 5: skinned girl with regular black woman hair under this wig,
- 30:06Speaker 5: and I'm doing it for us. My experience isn'ten of
- 30:09Speaker 5: white women or of light skiin so my music does
- 30:12Speaker 5: typically be black girl puts you know, keep your head up,
- 30:16Speaker 5: nappy head, black girl, The hair is beautiful. I have
- 30:18Speaker 5: to say it because I live the experience of people
- 30:22Speaker 5: don't say it to us enough, So.
- 30:24Speaker 8: Why would I not say it in my music?
- 30:26Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 30:26Speaker 5: I don't really understand how people will be confused with
- 30:29Speaker 5: me sometime when I'm like, you're black and beautiful, and
- 30:31Speaker 5: I say it all the time, and.
- 30:33Speaker 8: It's like, what about us.
- 30:35Speaker 5: I'm not talking about y'all right now, I'm talking about
- 30:37Speaker 5: what I'm seeing, and y'all need to see the reflection
- 30:40Speaker 5: of how I look.
- 30:41Speaker 8: You know, you look beautiful. Oh you can't win that.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Basically right now. I think that's part of being a
- 30:46Speaker 4: change you.
- 30:46Speaker 6: Want to see, you know, and with you're doing that
- 30:49Speaker 6: in your music and stuff like that, and it's just
- 30:51Speaker 6: amazing to see how you persevere through all that and
- 30:54Speaker 6: becoming a success that you are today.
- 30:55Speaker 4: And that is very commend you to that.
- 30:58Speaker 6: Thank you was one of your what was your successful moment?
- 31:02Speaker 4: Like the moment that you was like, Okay, I got
- 31:06Speaker 4: it now.
- 31:07Speaker 5: I would say my first successful moment would be my
- 31:12Speaker 5: first big writing session. A lot of people to know
- 31:15Speaker 5: I wrote for people, but you know in that that
- 31:19Speaker 5: part of the industry, you can't really be as vocal
- 31:21Speaker 5: like hey, I wrote her song like my Name is on.
- 31:24Speaker 5: So I felt really good that I always wanted to
- 31:28Speaker 5: write for a big artists And when I got a
- 31:30Speaker 5: call to be in a writing session with four of
- 31:35Speaker 5: like some of the biggest songwriters in our area. Like
- 31:40Speaker 5: when I called, I kind of felt like I am
- 31:42Speaker 5: not supposed to be in this room.
- 31:43Speaker 1: It was.
- 31:44Speaker 5: It was crazy when I got there, and that was
- 31:46Speaker 5: my first time my career feeling like, oh my god,
- 31:48Speaker 5: it's actually you are being heard. Sometimes it feels like
- 31:51Speaker 5: you aren't as an independent artist when you haven't made
- 31:55Speaker 5: it big or the number one record, you know, like
- 31:57Speaker 5: people say are charting and jen. So when I walked
- 32:01Speaker 5: in the room and I sat there and people were like,
- 32:03Speaker 5: heymy we heard some of your references, we heard some
- 32:06Speaker 5: of your songs, we heard so and so song. We
- 32:07Speaker 5: didn't know you wrote that or co wrote it. I
- 32:10Speaker 5: was like, wow, I didn't even know y'all even knew
- 32:13Speaker 5: me or were talking about me. So that really encouraged me.
- 32:17Speaker 5: They were like, girl, we've been talking about you for
- 32:19Speaker 5: about two years actually, and I was like, dang, you
- 32:21Speaker 5: don't really know that some people know you and things.
- 32:25Speaker 8: My mentality changed.
- 32:26Speaker 6: I was like, get the stuff that your Did you
- 32:29Speaker 6: have a manager or was it your mom?
- 32:30Speaker 1: It was.
- 32:31Speaker 5: I had a situation where Red Bull Publishing and was
- 32:35Speaker 5: sitting down and was negotiating some work with them, and
- 32:39Speaker 5: two other songwriters shout out to London Jay two, he
- 32:43Speaker 5: writes to London, Yeah, definitely my homie and that's that's
- 32:48Speaker 5: like a mentor to me.
- 32:49Speaker 8: Spart.
- 32:51Speaker 1: About a lot of a lot of he is the one.
- 32:56Speaker 5: He is the one, like London, I do this to
- 32:58Speaker 5: him when I see him, like so shout out to him.
- 33:01Speaker 8: But yeah.
- 33:01Speaker 5: I end up in a writing session with him and
- 33:03Speaker 5: a couple other people and when they were like, yeah,
- 33:06Speaker 5: we heard some stuff you wrote. What do you mean
- 33:07Speaker 5: you're shocked to be here? I was like, I just
- 33:09Speaker 5: because I haven't had this opportunity before. That changed everything
- 33:13Speaker 5: for me because I used to From there, I was like,
- 33:15Speaker 5: you got to stop working and being great to hear
- 33:18Speaker 5: somebody say we heard it, Amy, because I learned that day.
- 33:21Speaker 5: Sometimes they don't even tell you they heard you, but
- 33:23Speaker 5: they're hearing you in fans and they were pulling up references,
- 33:27Speaker 5: like we got this reference in our email with all
- 33:30Speaker 5: these songwriters months ago and it was you.
- 33:32Speaker 1: And I was like, what y'all in LA They're like yes, Amy.
- 33:36Speaker 8: So from there, I'm like, girl, you are that girl period.
- 33:39Speaker 4: What can you share some of the artists that you
- 33:42Speaker 4: wrote for?
- 33:43Speaker 5: I can tell you some writing sessions I've been in.
- 33:47Speaker 5: That's how you have to do that legally. I'm into something. Yeah,
- 33:51Speaker 5: I can tell you something.
- 33:52Speaker 4: Yeah, just you know, just a couple of writing sessions.
- 33:56Speaker 5: I have been in writing sessions for Cardi B And
- 34:01Speaker 5: that's I'll leave it at that. That was the huge
- 34:04Speaker 5: that was my most biggest opportunity. And I was the
- 34:07Speaker 5: only girl in the room with all the male writers.
- 34:10Speaker 1: So can you.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Give us an example of what a writing session is
- 34:13Speaker 4: like for people.
- 34:14Speaker 5: Who yes, yes, so a writing session you'll get obviously
- 34:19Speaker 5: you know your confidential email through whoever you're working with,
- 34:22Speaker 5: if you have a pub deal or a label deal,
- 34:24Speaker 5: and they will tell you, like which label is looking
- 34:28Speaker 5: for songs, and they'll tell you what type of songs
- 34:31Speaker 5: they're looking for a meaning so and so has a
- 34:34Speaker 5: ten song album and it's about to come out. The
- 34:36Speaker 5: last two records they wanted to be maybe club boppy
- 34:40Speaker 5: fun or a deep record. It's like heartbro got dumbed.
- 34:44Speaker 5: To let you know, and depend on what your writing
- 34:47Speaker 5: cadence is, you might get the email like, hey, so
- 34:50Speaker 5: a session coming in.
- 34:53Speaker 8: You want to be a part of it.
- 34:54Speaker 5: You don't know who you're walking in there, Like I've
- 34:56Speaker 5: walked in with London j before and been like, what's.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Up, London.
- 35:00Speaker 8: I don't know how excited I am.
- 35:01Speaker 1: To be here with you.
- 35:02Speaker 5: But you don't know who you're coming into, and sometimes
- 35:06Speaker 5: you don't even know the artists that you're writing for.
- 35:09Speaker 5: Sometimes you might have a publishing deal of a pub
- 35:12Speaker 5: deal and get in there and it's like, oh, yeah,
- 35:14Speaker 5: you writing for I don't want to name somebody who
- 35:17Speaker 5: writes for themselves, but whoever's been vocal about not writing
- 35:20Speaker 5: for themselves. You might come in and be like, who's
- 35:23Speaker 5: working on this?
- 35:24Speaker 1: That never happens.
- 35:27Speaker 5: You might come in and be like, I'm real, like
- 35:30Speaker 5: how many songs does she need? Well, they really only
- 35:32Speaker 5: need one, and it's literally twenty people sometimes trying to
- 35:36Speaker 5: get theirs.
- 35:38Speaker 1: To people writing on one song. For sure.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Sean Garrett kind of shared that with us.
- 35:42Speaker 6: It's like a whole bunch of people and they're just
- 35:44Speaker 6: like fighting for that on the.
- 35:46Speaker 5: Album, and sometimes you're not fighting that. That's the sentence
- 35:49Speaker 5: a chance to be on an album, because sometimes you
- 35:51Speaker 5: could write the whole verse and when you hear it
- 35:54Speaker 5: and how y'all negotiating work it, it ended up being
- 35:57Speaker 5: you only got one sentence of what you said it
- 35:59Speaker 5: was dope out of it, and then this other songwriter
- 36:02Speaker 5: he got the second sentence.
- 36:03Speaker 8: You're like, damn.
- 36:05Speaker 6: But then you know, the artists want to get their
- 36:07Speaker 6: their credit too, so they can just take something they
- 36:09Speaker 6: hear and then say, well, I want to rework it like.
- 36:11Speaker 5: This, and now you're getting them on the split sheet
- 36:15Speaker 5: always gets real ugly and dirty. You can, and that's
- 36:19Speaker 5: why songwriters are always trying to write.
- 36:23Speaker 7: I feel like at this point everybody has writers and
- 36:26Speaker 7: it because you know, some of the biggest I don't
- 36:29Speaker 7: understand why it's a big deal. Yeah, because when you
- 36:31Speaker 7: look at some of the biggest artists in the world
- 36:34Speaker 7: from you know, years ago, like you look at people
- 36:38Speaker 7: like Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson wasn't writing no song right.
- 36:40Speaker 6: The objective of the music game is to sell records,
- 36:45Speaker 6: and whatever sells the best is what they want so
- 36:48Speaker 6: bad you're writing something that sounds like on what's on
- 36:52Speaker 6: the radio, you're more than likely gonna get that.
- 36:55Speaker 5: Job and you're going to be on like a two
- 36:57Speaker 5: year run because it's sounds in the end industry where
- 37:00Speaker 5: it's a moment where it's like everything y'all remember the
- 37:02Speaker 5: Roscoe Dash moment where everybody it was just a sign
- 37:05Speaker 5: of music.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Snap music.
- 37:07Speaker 5: They're going to send in the power writers that are
- 37:09Speaker 5: quiet in the back, like, oh, this is what I do.
- 37:11Speaker 5: I write all the snap the finger type he is.
- 37:13Speaker 5: It's like a cadence for every type of songwriter. London
- 37:17Speaker 5: Jay works well with everybody, but he's really good with women,
- 37:21Speaker 5: the female rappers. Able to write so much of that
- 37:24Speaker 5: and he's like the most.
- 37:25Speaker 1: That's what I heard.
- 37:26Speaker 7: I heard, That's what That's why I was like, lont.
- 37:31Speaker 6: What makes him a beast is because he's selling the records.
- 37:36Speaker 1: He's selling the record and if.
- 37:37Speaker 4: You are making the most money, they want you.
- 37:39Speaker 5: Every time and he don't miss so so so basically
- 37:44Speaker 5: you can write the record and then it can be ten.
- 37:47Speaker 5: I've been in the session before and it was fourteen
- 37:48Speaker 5: people there and I was just like, oh my god.
- 37:52Speaker 5: And when I say they are hungry, they're not in
- 37:54Speaker 5: their plan with you. I had to learn I was
- 37:56Speaker 5: missing opportunities when I started because I'm I'm kind of
- 38:00Speaker 5: I'm the humble girl, like I know my power.
- 38:03Speaker 8: I sit there sometime and be like, you don't even
- 38:06Speaker 8: know you're talking to sometime.
- 38:07Speaker 5: But I was coming to them sessions so humble, and
- 38:10Speaker 5: I was saying how aggressive they are and I had
- 38:12Speaker 5: to learn quick.
- 38:13Speaker 8: I was like, oh, because I remember I.
- 38:16Speaker 5: Was in a session one time, my kid, you not
- 38:18Speaker 5: I opened a moment as a songwriter.
- 38:20Speaker 8: I went there.
- 38:21Speaker 5: It was like, lay that part down, that was good,
- 38:22Speaker 5: we like what you said. I go in there and somebody,
- 38:25Speaker 5: a guy came in and was like, yeah, they want
- 38:26Speaker 5: me to say my part, and I was like, what
- 38:30Speaker 5: come out?
- 38:31Speaker 8: I came out. They were like, yeah, we like that better,
- 38:34Speaker 8: so you cancel that part that she said.
- 38:36Speaker 5: Put his one sentence on there. It was aggressive. They
- 38:39Speaker 5: was in there like we want the most on this publishing.
- 38:43Speaker 5: We want to be the one to get the most
- 38:44Speaker 5: out of it. And you got to be in there
- 38:46Speaker 5: ready to fight.
- 38:47Speaker 7: Not literally, yeah, because a lot of people behind the
- 38:49Speaker 7: scenes they not making money like these artists. You're not
- 38:52Speaker 7: going to do shows and stuff like that, so your
- 38:54Speaker 7: only stream of income is like, I gotta get on
- 38:57Speaker 7: this record to get this because it takes you know,
- 38:59Speaker 7: a while to get paid.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Is awesome.
- 39:01Speaker 5: Not only that the producer getting fifty percent of it immediately,
- 39:06Speaker 5: automatic immediately well and that's what we producers get fifty.
- 39:12Speaker 6: You break down the split, so it's fifty percent for
- 39:15Speaker 6: the songwriter, fifty percent for the producer.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Now imagine ten people writing on that record, like you
- 39:21Speaker 1: get ten percent, you get five, y'all.
- 39:23Speaker 8: That's the five.
- 39:24Speaker 5: And that's why it's like this big outrage, not even
- 39:26Speaker 5: just with TV.
- 39:27Speaker 8: It's a real thing.
- 39:28Speaker 5: It's not you got ten people on here writing and
- 39:32Speaker 5: you getting fifty because you made to B and I'm
- 39:34Speaker 5: sitting there like you ain't really seeing no money.
- 39:36Speaker 1: So what is this beef over songwriters with these females?
- 39:39Speaker 5: Like the beef is so caddy, and a lot of
- 39:41Speaker 5: it is calculated by the labels because the beef sales.
- 39:45Speaker 8: So before you.
- 39:45Speaker 5: Drop, if your name was so and so and you
- 39:47Speaker 5: drop the week before you drop, you're most likely gonna
- 39:50Speaker 5: be told of beef with me, fall out with me,
- 39:53Speaker 5: do something weird where it's like, if everybody's talking about you,
- 39:56Speaker 5: that means let me just say if I do Yeah,
- 40:01Speaker 5: if I'm doing probably one point nine million impressions a week,
- 40:04Speaker 5: the people who are superstars, they're probably doing twenty million.
- 40:08Speaker 5: If I start a beef with you, that's twenty million
- 40:10Speaker 5: people now watching to hear the beef, and then.
- 40:12Speaker 1: You slide in your record on them.
- 40:15Speaker 5: It's such a system that it makes they're watching you
- 40:17Speaker 5: because you're beefing, sliding the album, sliding the new merch,
- 40:20Speaker 5: slide in the tape to just drop. It's a system
- 40:23Speaker 5: and girls have fallen so deep into it that now
- 40:26Speaker 5: they're not relying on the lyrics no more like the music.
- 40:29Speaker 5: It's like I could do some fake beef and go
- 40:31Speaker 5: number one for real, for real. That's just how the
- 40:33Speaker 5: game is going, because we're in a time where people
- 40:36Speaker 5: love to see the girls take their heads off, take
- 40:39Speaker 5: each other's heads. Think of this, and I always tell people,
- 40:42Speaker 5: think of all the movies. Think of the movies people
- 40:45Speaker 5: got Oscars for nobody's mad at them that somebody wrote
- 40:48Speaker 5: them a movie that got them an Oscar. Nobody's mad
- 40:51Speaker 5: Like this is hip hop where you got Angela? Bas said,
- 40:55Speaker 5: you got Hayley Bear, you got all these greats, right
- 40:57Speaker 5: Iola Davis. People wrote these movies for them, They Wakanda
- 41:02Speaker 5: and they did all of It's sitting there in La
- 41:05Speaker 5: saying who wrote the best movie for Angela? Who know
- 41:08Speaker 5: you have never heard that? Them fighting over who wrote
- 41:12Speaker 5: the scripts for the movies. Why are we talking about
- 41:14Speaker 5: that in hip hop though? Why is that like the
- 41:15Speaker 5: big thing with the girls? Like girl, when you get
- 41:18Speaker 5: mad at somebody and you don't even write, it's.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Like, yeah, that's that's all.
- 41:22Speaker 7: That's all the beef that I ever see, Like all
- 41:24Speaker 7: the beef that I see on the internet with female
- 41:26Speaker 7: rappers is all about who writes what.
- 41:30Speaker 5: And let me say this, I have never had a
- 41:32Speaker 5: writer for my own music. I've never had I've never
- 41:36Speaker 5: dealt with female that. I've never had one.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Every female rapper stand on.
- 41:41Speaker 5: But let me say this though, if the hit come,
- 41:44Speaker 5: I take my Take me a damn rapper, take me
- 41:47Speaker 5: a damn writer.
- 41:49Speaker 8: People are so scared to be real these days. It's scary.
- 41:52Speaker 4: Listen there of the game is a number one.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Number one record, number one record?
- 41:56Speaker 5: I think business? Or do you care about the girls
- 41:59Speaker 5: being like Amy? If I got a number one but
- 42:01Speaker 5: I once I wrote it, London, J can come right now.
- 42:03Speaker 1: And write it. I would be right there rapping it.
- 42:06Speaker 4: People.
- 42:06Speaker 6: People have to understand that and change with the times.
- 42:10Speaker 6: Like hip hop is far from you know, the street corners.
- 42:14Speaker 4: We're in the business office. This is a business.
- 42:16Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying, and we're just trying to
- 42:17Speaker 6: get the best deals, so I understand that.
- 42:20Speaker 8: Yeah, I had two labels.
- 42:22Speaker 5: Came about three months ago to one of my sessions
- 42:24Speaker 5: at Anywhere at the studio I go to, and I
- 42:29Speaker 5: went in there and I recorded the song. At first, off,
- 42:32Speaker 5: I don't even write my music. Oh, I don't write
- 42:34Speaker 5: at all. And when I came out the label one
- 42:36Speaker 5: of the labels, two guys he's like, yeah, that so
- 42:39Speaker 5: and so was telling me that you're gonna write that
- 42:41Speaker 5: you started writing two years ago, but we just had
- 42:43Speaker 5: to see it because you're a girl.
- 42:45Speaker 8: And I was like, well, damn, what did that mean?
- 42:47Speaker 5: And they were like, well, we just watched it doesn't
- 42:49Speaker 5: really happen like that. And I was like, well, how
- 42:51Speaker 5: does it happen? Because I'm still fairly new to a
- 42:54Speaker 5: lot of the process with the major female artist, I
- 42:57Speaker 5: haven't been in there one on one to watch it,
- 42:59Speaker 5: so I'm had to learn from them. And they were like,
- 43:01Speaker 5: it's typically somebody in there telling them the cadence. No,
- 43:05Speaker 5: you need to say it like this. You've got to
- 43:07Speaker 5: raise your hand up a little more to make it
- 43:08Speaker 5: come out more aggressive. And they were like, we were
- 43:10Speaker 5: looking through the glass. We were looking for the notebook,
- 43:12Speaker 5: we were looking for your phone. What are you writing
- 43:15Speaker 5: it on?
- 43:15Speaker 8: I was like, I'm not. I've been rapping since I
- 43:18Speaker 8: was ten.
- 43:19Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 43:19Speaker 5: It's like it's kind of my brain at this point.
- 43:22Speaker 5: But I will get me a songwriter.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I respect it. Take all these.
- 43:25Speaker 8: Thoughts out my head and give me that number one record.
- 43:27Speaker 1: So you're like a jay z in a little Wayne,
- 43:29Speaker 1: just going.
- 43:30Speaker 5: I have been told that, and they feel very pressure.
- 43:33Speaker 5: Pressure when I do.
- 43:34Speaker 7: That's dope because you know it's it's really hard. I
- 43:37Speaker 7: feel like to just like just go in there and
- 43:39Speaker 7: be like, hey, I'm feeling this and just blurred out
- 43:42Speaker 7: how you feeling and it actually comes out and you
- 43:45Speaker 7: know it and it's dope.
- 43:47Speaker 4: How does the payment work as a songwriter.
- 43:50Speaker 1: It's different.
- 43:51Speaker 5: So you can have a label if I when I
- 43:54Speaker 5: say have a label, be signed to a label, or
- 43:56Speaker 5: you can have a publishing deal which is just more
- 43:58Speaker 5: about the song writing, or you can be like me,
- 44:01Speaker 5: an independent artist.
- 44:03Speaker 8: Me I've never been signed.
- 44:04Speaker 5: So when I go into situations, for example, when I
- 44:07Speaker 5: was dealing with Red Bull, I'm more so focused on
- 44:10Speaker 5: the points which sometimes are more everlasting then the money,
- 44:14Speaker 5: the little bit of money people are getting. So it's
- 44:17Speaker 5: basically how they break it down, like you can get
- 44:19Speaker 5: it for the rest remainder of the song, as long
- 44:21Speaker 5: as you're getting points on the song. It's almost like
- 44:24Speaker 5: it's like a contract basically saying i might be one
- 44:27Speaker 5: of the six writers on here, but I'm getting some
- 44:29Speaker 5: points on this record. The points kind of add up.
- 44:32Speaker 5: If you keep doing different songs, which I haven't done yet,
- 44:35Speaker 5: how many points can you get? So it's situational. I've
- 44:38Speaker 5: had some people who are small time writers, but because
- 44:43Speaker 5: they are have had more of a resume of getting hits,
- 44:47Speaker 5: some of them get points where they get more points
- 44:50Speaker 5: than like a London jay or a mega songwriter. Because
- 44:54Speaker 5: it's like, look at my history. I'm not gonna come
- 44:57Speaker 5: here if y'all don't give me this point or give
- 45:00Speaker 5: me this percentage.
- 45:01Speaker 7: It's kind of like the writer strike, right, Like, isn't
- 45:04Speaker 7: that what they're essentially fighting for?
- 45:06Speaker 1: Like they're fighting for residuals.
- 45:08Speaker 5: And residual that's and the points are residual. God music,
- 45:11Speaker 5: That's that's it. That's the word I was looking for. Anyway,
- 45:14Speaker 5: points are residual to the same thing. As a person
- 45:17Speaker 5: who wrote a TV show, I don't want to have
- 45:19Speaker 5: a song on why it's on the radio getting money
- 45:21Speaker 5: and then when it's not popular no more, I don't
- 45:23Speaker 5: get no more money because it's still gonna play at least.
- 45:26Speaker 1: But that's how a year, that's how artists go broke.
- 45:30Speaker 7: After the song is no longer popular, the label is
- 45:34Speaker 7: still getting paid.
- 45:35Speaker 1: You ain't getting it's still getting paid.
- 45:38Speaker 7: And it's like when people don't want to hear you
- 45:39Speaker 7: perform that song anymore, you know, it's kind of like yeah, or.
- 45:43Speaker 5: You can get smart and be like, no, I'm locking
- 45:44Speaker 5: in long term because this song could a year from
- 45:48Speaker 5: now end up being on a commercial Chick fil A, GMC.
- 45:51Speaker 8: We see it happen.
- 45:52Speaker 5: But a lot of the people who didn't know how
- 45:54Speaker 5: to negotiate points, or didn't have a deal or somebody
- 45:58Speaker 5: trust to represent them, they just coming in a situation like.
- 46:01Speaker 8: I'll take that.
- 46:02Speaker 5: I'll take that forty thousand or twenty thousand. And it's
- 46:06Speaker 5: like if you had got the points on the.
- 46:08Speaker 4: Red forever, how many points did you get from a
- 46:11Speaker 4: CARTI This.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Is legal stuff, okay, legal stuff.
- 46:15Speaker 4: Okay, but it wasn't nice.
- 46:17Speaker 5: Was it a no, And let me clarify the song
- 46:20Speaker 5: session that I did for Cardi.
- 46:21Speaker 8: My verse didn't get put on that album.
- 46:24Speaker 5: Okay, so I didn't get no points from the CARTI,
- 46:26Speaker 5: but I was a writer on the whole project, but.
- 46:30Speaker 4: My particular tire project.
- 46:33Speaker 1: No so and it don't go like that either.
- 46:35Speaker 5: So basically, when they came to Atlanta, they put that
- 46:38Speaker 5: Atlanta writers. They had sessions for her in California as well.
- 46:42Speaker 5: They do this well, not just Cardi, all the artists,
- 46:44Speaker 5: you know. I don't want to just single her out,
- 46:45Speaker 5: but in the Atlanta writing session, it was about eleven
- 46:50Speaker 5: of us there. I knew then, like I hope I
- 46:53Speaker 5: just get a sentence on this song. I didn't know
- 46:55Speaker 5: coming in it was gonna be that many people anyway,
- 46:57Speaker 5: But this is the game. So I didn't expect in
- 47:01Speaker 5: that situation, seeing London and seeing all these big people,
- 47:03Speaker 5: me even really getting a point on the record. If anything,
- 47:06Speaker 5: I would have took the money at that point because
- 47:09Speaker 5: I wasn't. I'm just real, I wasn't the biggest person
- 47:12Speaker 5: in writing for celebrities, but I was getting there from
- 47:16Speaker 5: people talking about different situations that I had wrote for people.
- 47:19Speaker 1: But so as a work for hire basically.
- 47:22Speaker 5: And I'm independent, so like London and other people, they
- 47:25Speaker 5: have situations. So when he coming in, I already know,
- 47:29Speaker 5: like I don't have a person representing me where it's
- 47:31Speaker 5: like we're negotiating. Miss Luciani's getting this, She's gonna leave
- 47:35Speaker 5: with two points. Here I'm coming in by myself, So
- 47:37Speaker 5: I'm sitting there like all of y'all here, He for
- 47:40Speaker 5: sure getting point and I know he getting and she
- 47:41Speaker 5: getting it, but me, hmm, you're.
- 47:44Speaker 4: Just getting up front money.
- 47:45Speaker 5: Let me, yeah, let me network and take some money
- 47:47Speaker 5: out the deal, because it's not like I'm signed to
- 47:49Speaker 5: dev Jim Hourly or it's a lumpsung just for being there.
- 47:54Speaker 5: Just for being there, you can get paid from your
- 47:57Speaker 5: label to just come and be a part of the
- 48:00Speaker 5: the session. Typically that's not gonna happen, but some people
- 48:04Speaker 5: have just been like, I'm just here giving you'all ideas.
- 48:07Speaker 5: I'm not gonna get no points, but I want some
- 48:09Speaker 5: money off of this. And may be the ones that
- 48:11Speaker 5: you don't see the names on the thing either. A
- 48:13Speaker 5: lot of the big megastars have had like five people
- 48:17Speaker 5: that I know wrote a lot of them.
- 48:18Speaker 8: His If you look it'd be like two names on
- 48:20Speaker 8: the song. And that's not true. It'd be like five
- 48:22Speaker 8: of them. They wrote that song.
- 48:25Speaker 5: But the big dogs, they had the big rock a
- 48:27Speaker 5: Feller label or so, and so they're gonna shine and
- 48:31Speaker 5: they're gonna be the ones to get all the credit
- 48:34Speaker 5: that you be having smaller people like I was just
- 48:36Speaker 5: thankful to be in the room.
- 48:37Speaker 8: I left with some money.
- 48:39Speaker 5: I didn't get a long term deal like y'all, but
- 48:40Speaker 5: I got a couple thousand.
- 48:42Speaker 1: I'm cool.
- 48:42Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what made me say that when you was
- 48:44Speaker 7: talking about how like some people just go in there
- 48:46Speaker 7: and get the money and get it.
- 48:47Speaker 1: They don't get the credit on the song.
- 48:49Speaker 5: Sometimes you don't even see the money for a year
- 48:51Speaker 5: or two. So sometimes I be thinking, like, do you
- 48:53Speaker 5: want to get a little forty upfront or twenty upfront
- 48:56Speaker 5: or do you want to wait and maybe the person
- 48:58Speaker 5: lose they deal next year. It's a lot they might
- 49:02Speaker 5: get dropped next year. You sitting there like I'm about
- 49:04Speaker 5: to get this big old check.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Girl.
- 49:06Speaker 5: This person had her baby, got married, She don't even
- 49:08Speaker 5: wrap no more. You should have got the money up front.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Now say that the.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Back end doesn't even come. If something happens to the artists.
- 49:13Speaker 1: It sometimes don't.
- 49:14Speaker 5: The artists could have a situation with the label where
- 49:17Speaker 5: they done dropped her and now they're acquiring all of
- 49:19Speaker 5: her stuff.
- 49:20Speaker 8: Now you're sitting there like, are.
- 49:21Speaker 4: They shoving a record?
- 49:22Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 49:22Speaker 8: What I'm gonna do? I was there, I wrote it
- 49:24Speaker 8: a year ago.
- 49:24Speaker 1: What am I?
- 49:25Speaker 8: Where's my money? Well, she's not with us no more.
- 49:28Speaker 5: We're doing this, we're trying to figure this and that
- 49:30Speaker 5: and third out, we're not even gonna put this album
- 49:32Speaker 5: out now. He decided to go with something else. So
- 49:35Speaker 5: much business and that's why people be really screaming and
- 49:38Speaker 5: ripping hair out and be like, do a better system
- 49:42Speaker 5: for us? This is not this has been going on
- 49:44Speaker 5: for a long time.
- 49:45Speaker 1: But you're also on TV now.
- 49:47Speaker 6: But let's take it to Real Dreams before that, Yeah,
- 49:49Speaker 6: you know, how'd you come up with that?
- 49:51Speaker 4: And bag Lady and all that.
- 49:52Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 49:53Speaker 5: So, World of Dreams is a label that I started.
- 49:56Speaker 5: I actually just started. It's not even a year older,
- 50:00Speaker 5: be a year and probably about November so last year
- 50:02Speaker 5: I started it, and I had just been doing a
- 50:05Speaker 5: lot of research on just labels and music, and I
- 50:08Speaker 5: always get asked a question, am I gonna stay independent
- 50:11Speaker 5: or do I want to sign? And I always say
- 50:13Speaker 5: I will signed, but it has to be a position
- 50:15Speaker 5: that makes sense. I've been rapping for a while, so
- 50:18Speaker 5: I've acquired the money. So now I'm not even trying
- 50:22Speaker 5: to do it for the money. I'm trying to do
- 50:24Speaker 5: it for a machine that can be like boom. You
- 50:26Speaker 5: see her open up here, boom. You've seen her on TV,
- 50:28Speaker 5: you've seen this.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Press, press the button.
- 50:31Speaker 5: The money, you can do it independently having fans with
- 50:34Speaker 5: the money. So world a dream. Someone told me, they said, listen,
- 50:38Speaker 5: you need to start your own label. You start educating
- 50:40Speaker 5: yourself on the label, educating yourself on the points, educating
- 50:44Speaker 5: yourself on the small print on these deals, and you
- 50:48Speaker 5: might not actually ever want to sign. And when I
- 50:51Speaker 5: researched that for months and months, I was like, oh,
- 50:55Speaker 5: hell nah, I've worked too hard to end up in
- 50:59Speaker 5: this type of label where, yeah, I got a million
- 51:02Speaker 5: dollars up front that I could have made on my own,
- 51:04Speaker 5: but I signed for this million.
- 51:07Speaker 1: And I know that y'all own everything.
- 51:10Speaker 5: You own Luciana, you own the name Luciani now like
- 51:14Speaker 5: I'm your slave now. Basically, so I took my one
- 51:17Speaker 5: of my musical mentors advice I started a world of
- 51:19Speaker 5: dreams and the purpose of signing having your own label.
- 51:23Speaker 5: When you sign, I'm sorry, when you start your own label,
- 51:26Speaker 5: a label normally has a team. We got producers, we
- 51:29Speaker 5: got songwriters, we got stylists, we got hair, we got glam.
- 51:32Speaker 5: We giving you the umbrella for everything. You just get
- 51:35Speaker 5: to show and be pretty. We got a team working
- 51:37Speaker 5: for you. Or you can start your own label and
- 51:39Speaker 5: you can go and bring in a producer to the label,
- 51:43Speaker 5: another producer, the mixing person, the mastering person, a photographer, videographer,
- 51:49Speaker 5: and have your own team where you can control it yourself.
- 51:53Speaker 5: So when you go to a major label, they ain't
- 51:56Speaker 5: gonna play with you. How they would play with the
- 51:59Speaker 5: Amy lab year who was just sitting there like, I
- 52:02Speaker 5: don't have a label, I'm not signed.
- 52:04Speaker 1: It's just me. Oh, We're going to take you all
- 52:06Speaker 1: the way up through there.
- 52:07Speaker 5: But now that I have World of dreams, it's like,
- 52:09Speaker 5: oh yeah, so y'all can't play with these budgets and say,
- 52:12Speaker 5: the reason why we got to take all this money
- 52:14Speaker 5: from you and you got to pay us back all
- 52:17Speaker 5: of this money is because we had to get your producer.
- 52:20Speaker 5: We had to get you a songwriter, we had to
- 52:21Speaker 5: get your makeup, we had to get you a videographer.
- 52:23Speaker 5: We had to get you somebody to make you a star.
- 52:26Speaker 5: Now I'm in a position to say, no, you didn't.
- 52:28Speaker 5: You didn't have to spend all that to do that
- 52:30Speaker 5: for me. So I need more money up front, not
- 52:33Speaker 5: on the back end, because I did y'all job.
- 52:36Speaker 1: I have a label.
- 52:36Speaker 5: It's called World of Dreams, and if you look under
- 52:38Speaker 5: my umbrella, I have everything that y'all thought y'all was
- 52:41Speaker 5: about to fake spend a million dollars on and weren't
- 52:44Speaker 5: really spending a million on it. The respect is so
- 52:46Speaker 5: different now, and I'll be oh, I should have did
- 52:49Speaker 5: this two years ago. That's a good thing about learning
- 52:52Speaker 5: though that, And that's why you're on rush it.
- 52:55Speaker 7: Exactly because it's people that's going to watch this interview,
- 52:58Speaker 7: and these are people that it was in your shoes.
- 53:01Speaker 7: I mean, there's probably in your shoes how you was
- 53:03Speaker 7: a couple of years ago.
- 53:04Speaker 5: And a lot of people don't tell you it because
- 53:06Speaker 5: a lot of people in this game feel like, well,
- 53:08Speaker 5: I had to sign and paste four years of my
- 53:11Speaker 5: career with a bad deal I'm not gonna tell you
- 53:13Speaker 5: and stop. You just figured it out like I did.
- 53:16Speaker 5: That's crazy. You can stop somebody.
- 53:18Speaker 4: You guys did bag Lady.
- 53:20Speaker 8: Yes, let us know about that.
- 53:21Speaker 5: Yeah, shout out to bigger ranking. I put out a
- 53:24Speaker 5: single car bag Lady, and it was just a song
- 53:28Speaker 5: for women to just feel ownership and just being a
- 53:32Speaker 5: business woman.
- 53:33Speaker 1: You know a lot of.
- 53:34Speaker 5: People say, like, bag Lady, you gotta have diamonds on
- 53:36Speaker 5: all of this. I was a bag lady when I
- 53:39Speaker 5: was literally a bag lady working at Walmart. Like the
- 53:41Speaker 5: mentality was speaking it into it happening. So if you
- 53:45Speaker 5: wake up and it's every day, you know, I'm getting
- 53:48Speaker 5: my own bag, I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do that.
- 53:50Speaker 5: I wrote the lyrics for More. It's like a more
- 53:53Speaker 5: of a chant of speaking something into existence. So I
- 53:58Speaker 5: wrote bag Lady talk about going from here to here
- 54:02Speaker 5: to their baby steps going up and then in the
- 54:05Speaker 5: end you got your success. But because you worked for it,
- 54:08Speaker 5: you know you're the bag lady. Now people can't come
- 54:10Speaker 5: and hold it over your head and say you did
- 54:13Speaker 5: this to get here. Now you need to come do
- 54:15Speaker 5: it like no. It's independency and having patience. These are
- 54:20Speaker 5: two things that people struggle with because to be independent
- 54:23Speaker 5: makes your journey longer. But if you stay independent and
- 54:27Speaker 5: take your time, you can't really just be putting positions
- 54:30Speaker 5: to be like, yeah, she had to do this to
- 54:32Speaker 5: get on.
- 54:33Speaker 6: Were you're putting yourself in bigger positions. Now you're on
- 54:35Speaker 6: Love and hip Hop? Yes, how did you get that opportunity?
- 54:40Speaker 8: Opportunity?
- 54:41Speaker 2: We'll be right back. Stay tuned with more of The
- 54:43Speaker 2: Baller Alert Show. You're listening to a special edition of
- 54:54Speaker 2: The baller Alert Show.
- 54:55Speaker 1: What's Up?
- 54:55Speaker 5: Yall's Amy Luciani and you are now tuned into The
- 54:58Speaker 5: Baller Alert Show. Love and hip Hop actually has came.
- 55:02Speaker 5: Shout out to Love and hip Hop two shout out
- 55:03Speaker 5: too and swhen that media shout out to MTV.
- 55:09Speaker 1: A bunch of shoutouts and is.
- 55:12Speaker 5: But Love and hip Hop actually has came for me
- 55:19Speaker 5: a few times over the last couple of years, and
- 55:22Speaker 5: each time it was just didn't even make sense to
- 55:26Speaker 5: me personally. A lot of the times, the situations and
- 55:29Speaker 5: the stories and the people that I was around it
- 55:32Speaker 5: they wanted to kind of highlight it just never made
- 55:34Speaker 5: sense for me. So this year they came talking right,
- 55:40Speaker 5: and it makes sense this year. So who was the difference.
- 55:44Speaker 5: The difference this year was me really Now I had
- 55:49Speaker 5: myself together, my life together, so they had to come
- 55:52Speaker 5: at me different, whereas before when I was really going
- 55:56Speaker 5: through trying to figure out just all this just artists
- 55:59Speaker 5: and a creative people, big, big, big institutes can see it.
- 56:04Speaker 5: And now they have more power to be like, Yeah,
- 56:06Speaker 5: we're gonna put you on here and you're about to
- 56:07Speaker 5: be fighting with her, and we're gonna make you go
- 56:10Speaker 5: do this and fake date this person.
- 56:11Speaker 1: And then somebody gonna throw some water in your face
- 56:14Speaker 1: and I might.
- 56:14Speaker 8: Have to catch charge again because you know what I'm.
- 56:16Speaker 5: Saying again again, A charge for before. Listen the ones
- 56:23Speaker 5: who know me my past lie which was first, that
- 56:28Speaker 5: is Amber, which is react first, apologize. Second, that's no
- 56:33Speaker 5: longer me.
- 56:34Speaker 4: But I in Detroit.
- 56:37Speaker 5: That was right here in Atlanta and Clayton County, to
- 56:39Speaker 5: be exact.
- 56:40Speaker 4: That's outside.
- 56:41Speaker 5: Yes, I And it's so funny. I just did a
- 56:44Speaker 5: big charity event with my old bunkie from jail. She's
- 56:49Speaker 5: went on to do great things.
- 56:50Speaker 1: How long you was in jail?
- 56:52Speaker 5: I have I have had my fighting moments. Yeah, and
- 56:57Speaker 5: I have had some time.
- 56:58Speaker 4: Oh you're just fighting.
- 56:59Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, I was fighting and then yeah, but no
- 57:03Speaker 5: more of that. Okay that my I see, I've walked
- 57:07Speaker 5: so many shoes. I was a bartender for years. I
- 57:09Speaker 5: worked in the club, so I was in that lifestyle
- 57:12Speaker 5: where it was like you drunk, but you're coming at me.
- 57:15Speaker 5: I gotta let you down. I have been picked up
- 57:20Speaker 5: from my job and locked up behind bartending in some mess.
- 57:24Speaker 1: But that is all the.
- 57:26Speaker 4: Time coming inbar get drunk at me.
- 57:32Speaker 5: Yeah, And so that's why I really was not doing
- 57:34Speaker 5: the show for a long time, because I knew, like,
- 57:36Speaker 5: she don't really like me.
- 57:38Speaker 8: That's my old boot, which is not her new boot.
- 57:40Speaker 8: I'm had to beat her up, and.
- 57:41Speaker 5: You know, like no, So it makes sense. Now the
- 57:45Speaker 5: show is really good. It's highlighting a lot of the music,
- 57:48Speaker 5: the brand, my products, and I just feel like it's
- 57:52Speaker 5: the light that I wanted them to highlight.
- 57:55Speaker 1: Cell Now, yes, no, you're talking about your past.
- 57:58Speaker 7: It seemed like it was about to go back to
- 58:00Speaker 7: your past in the past episode where.
- 58:03Speaker 5: You had I was going there, y'all, and I felt
- 58:08Speaker 5: so disappointed at the end of that because I'm like,
- 58:11Speaker 5: you felt the.
- 58:12Speaker 1: Test and it was a test that I have.
- 58:14Speaker 5: Passed, like seven years in a row, where for seven
- 58:17Speaker 5: years a girl couldn't even get me upset.
- 58:21Speaker 8: I would be like next and y'all was arguing over.
- 58:26Speaker 4: A record?
- 58:27Speaker 1: Yes, what happened?
- 58:28Speaker 5: Writing over I mean arguing over writing, arguing over what
- 58:33Speaker 5: we was just talking about? Long story short, and shout
- 58:36Speaker 5: out to Rennie because we have since came to a
- 58:39Speaker 5: cordial level where I can't say friends, but now we
- 58:41Speaker 5: actually can sit in the scene together and be like.
- 58:44Speaker 8: Let's see you.
- 58:46Speaker 5: We're looking at each other. But were able to be
- 58:48Speaker 5: on the scene, not get our bag before. It was
- 58:51Speaker 5: not that it was on site. It was on site
- 58:53Speaker 5: for real, for real, but just to speed through it
- 58:55Speaker 5: because I don't even want to dwell on that too long.
- 58:57Speaker 5: But again, I was in a session with a bunch
- 59:01Speaker 5: of men. I was the only girl. Again, no, I was,
- 59:04Speaker 5: and I was with one other female writer. Shout out
- 59:07Speaker 5: to Pineapple City from California. She and I were the
- 59:11Speaker 5: girls that were there, but we were in a session
- 59:12Speaker 5: with about eight nine people, and longstory short, she and
- 59:15Speaker 5: I wrote a song together and in that session we
- 59:19Speaker 5: were writing.
- 59:19Speaker 1: For other artists.
- 59:20Speaker 4: You and Pineapple City, are you me?
- 59:22Speaker 5: And Pineapple City. Pineapple City and I wrote a record,
- 59:27Speaker 5: and a year later we didn't do anything with the
- 59:30Speaker 5: record because we were in there a writing session.
- 59:32Speaker 8: So we're all on the email.
- 59:33Speaker 5: We're just doing reference tracks, reference tracks, remember this word.
- 59:37Speaker 8: And a year later, you.
- 59:39Speaker 5: Know, once you do your reference track, the label that
- 59:41Speaker 5: you're there for, they got all your information, you know,
- 59:44Speaker 5: so a year later, if they don't decide to do
- 59:46Speaker 5: the song, it's the name of the game. But then
- 59:49Speaker 5: somebody said me a DM of an artist performing the song,
- 59:53Speaker 5: and I was like, yeah, Pineapple City wrote.
- 59:56Speaker 8: I was like, how does this work? Is Rennie Grouccie
- 1:00:03Speaker 8: rapping it?
- 1:00:04Speaker 7: Oh?
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: She and I.
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: I reached out to her, as I'm finding out now
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: after we almost came to blows. It was the people
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: she was working with, her label, Yes Song, presenting her
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: songs as if these are reference records. This Pineapple City
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: and this Amy Girl. This was just reference records. This
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: could have been for any artists, which was so far
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: from the truth. Luckily, we in a time where we
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: record everything. The whole session, me and her, we got videos.
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: We're texting, Okay, what you want to like? What are
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: you thinking about the song? Do you want it to
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: be a song we used. You got a deal, I'm independent,
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: we can run with this record.
- 1:00:40Speaker 8: I'm cool with the people over here. Red Bull like, how.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: You want to do the song?
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: They were gonna give the song to another female artist
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: that they were possibly going to pitch the record to.
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: Nothing came about from that song, so we were just like,
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: how did it get in Rennie's hand? How did that go?
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: So I reached out to the person who was signed
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: to the person that she is signed. Well, I don't
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: know if she's still with them, so don't let me
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: be wrong. Was or still is, and he was signed
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: to her. He was one of the beat makers in
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: a session with us, So of course we pulling layers
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: down and we figure out who it was. But her
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: and I our beef started was when I reached out
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: to her.
- 1:01:19Speaker 8: I was respectful. I'm like, hey, I'm Amy Luciani, Like I.
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: Wrote this record with this girl. I noticed this on YouTube.
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: You're performing it. I don't know if you know about this,
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: but this song is a year old. I send her
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: anything as an artist that you would have needed to
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: be like, oh hell no, let me call on somebody,
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: actual factual, factuals and she went off and blocked me.
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: So from there, baby, I'm from Detroit. It was up
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: after that or was she trying to say she wrote
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: it or she was saying basically, have to take that
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: up with whoever you was in the studio with that day.
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: And I felt disrespected behind it, because I felt like
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: if had it been the other way around, I'd have
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: been like, hey, I want to say it too much
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: to incriminate myself, just like she didn't. But I would
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: at least been on some Let me figure out what happened.
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: Did she take parts of the record, because like we
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: were just talking about how rappers want to take credit
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: for writing their own raps and stuff like that. Was
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: it the entire record she took or just pieces?
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: It was a two verse record in the first verse
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: was my entire verse?
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: Okay, entirely, And you ain't getting no money, so you lucky.
- 1:02:23Speaker 8: I got nothing.
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: I was sitting there for a year, like I hope
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: something come about this because we were in there for
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: days doing this. But again, you might get a call
- 1:02:31Speaker 5: in three months hey that record, or it could be
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: two years, So you don't call and be a buggable
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: and be like, hey, what about that? Record, you just
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: sit back and let the thing do his thing. So
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: I felt disrespected from her message. Long story short, which
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: led to me taking to social media because I knew
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: this gonna get my answer, and it did. As soon
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: as my video went up, the song was taken down.
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: Although it was put back up at some point, it
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: was put right back up. At some point, it did
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: get to down. It was a couple I'm a major
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: artists on her deal that had reposted it. I looked
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: up they took it down. So I'm thinking, like, okay,
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: we're about to handle the business. Because I'm not a
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: drama person. I just want to handle the business. I'm
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: owe some money if your label gonna pick up the song.
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: But how y'all gonna pick up a song that me
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: and this girl wrote? How does that work? So I
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: was just vocal that you're like, y'all not gonna keep
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: playing with us girls like this. We know it'd be
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: a lot of y'all guys that do these writing sessions,
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: but we're here now and we're slowly in here writing.
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: Give us the credit because if it was a guy,
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: they would have been in there ready to fight instantly.
- 1:03:34Speaker 8: They wouldn't even play with them like that, the men.
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: So did you ever get your credit?
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: No?
- 1:03:38Speaker 8: I never got my credit still to.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: This day and it's.
- 1:03:41Speaker 8: Still up to this day.
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: Did you never want to take it to court?
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: Or I honestly was gonna take it to court? Me
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: and the artist, me and Pineapple, we were in chat
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: with she signed and her people was I only bring
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: him a part of the mess. But we were all
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: talking like what are we gonna do legally?
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: Now?
- 1:03:59Speaker 8: We're not gonna play it homegirl game.
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: This is legal, this is this is theft right here,
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: and we were going back and forth about it, and
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: a lot of people around me on my team and
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: friends in the industry were warning me and telling me, like,
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: you know, you always got to play as smart and
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: think on your emotions when you want to go big
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: on these people that she signed to.
- 1:04:19Speaker 8: It's like, do you know what she signed? Do you
- 1:04:20Speaker 8: know what she signed to?
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: Yeah? I know what she s?
- 1:04:23Speaker 5: Like, do you want to go she s? Yeah, which
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: is the entity of QC. Yeah, which is an entity
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: of it and the big yeah yeah, a big umbrella.
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: So do you want to essentially fall out with people
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: with these people because they could just blackball you that
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: happens every day.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: So are you scared of that is a question.
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: I'm not scared of it. But I'm a money maker.
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: I'm wise enough to control my emotions and be like So.
- 1:04:51Speaker 6: That's why you guys are not You can be in
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: the scene, but you would feel better if you got paid.
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: For sure, we should be paid. Yeah, but we should
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: one hundred percent be paid. We should have been paid.
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: But this industry is, it's it's so many unfair situations
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: that I don't want to be the artist to keep
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: being vocal about because I been meaning people to stand
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: with need look yeah, and I don't want to be
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: that person.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: I'm not able to be that person.
- 1:05:24Speaker 8: I don't want to be that person.
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: I silently throw my little chips out and be like, yeah,
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: us girls do be kind of done unfairly when they
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: come down to these writing sessions and writing boards and
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: references and stuff. But I don't want to keep saying
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: it because now that's overshadowing what I'm trying to do
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: and who I'm trying to be. And then you also
- 1:05:40Speaker 5: coming up. You gotta be careful with who you really
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: ready to go to war with. At certain points of
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: your career, it's not like I'm the biggest artists in
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: the world and to be sitting up there like I'm
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: taking y'all down or take yourself down.
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: Yeah, now you're on the same playing field with her.
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: But that's how God work and that's why I wasn't
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: never tripping because I know how it worked.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: So now it's funny.
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: Because it's like God to do that loop real quick
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: and you just be sitting back like I remember me.
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: When was her reaction when she first seen you on set.
- 1:06:10Speaker 8: What y'all saw on TV?
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: Didn't want to speak, didn't really look at me, didn't
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: Oh no, it was what you saw clipped down because
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: it was a long conversation.
- 1:06:20Speaker 8: So it's what y'all saw clip down for sixty second.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it was like instant.
- 1:06:23Speaker 7: It's like, it's because what I when I saw the clip,
- 1:06:27Speaker 7: I was like, damn, like.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Outside of this because it was like as soon as.
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: It was so much more and just how I am
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: with everybody. I just like I said, I know my power,
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: so I know how to talk to people in conflict
- 1:06:41Speaker 5: because it's either two things. We're gonna talk in conflict
- 1:06:44Speaker 5: or oh my old background, my old thinking.
- 1:06:48Speaker 8: It was okay, because where I'm from.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: We can't go back to Detroit now was progressive?
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: Now conflict gonna be talkable or we're gonna fight, one
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: of us gonna get hurt out the situation.
- 1:06:57Speaker 6: And how do you find the balance of giving you know,
- 1:07:00Speaker 6: your new opportunity on Love and hip Hop what they want,
- 1:07:03Speaker 6: which is drama field, yeah, and trying to highlight your
- 1:07:06Speaker 6: businesses and your music at the same time.
- 1:07:09Speaker 8: How you said, what was the question?
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: How do I say?
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: How do you balance them both?
- 1:07:13Speaker 8: I'm still learning how to do it to this day.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: Because it's your first time with love and hip hop?
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: First time, Okay, this is my first time. How I'm
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: balancing it out is I think it's just having a
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: strong mind.
- 1:07:23Speaker 8: I was a fan of the show.
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: I watched reality TV anyway, so I knew one hundred
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: percent what I was stepping into. But I just felt
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: like with my approach was different because shout out to
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: a lot of the girls that were on the show
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: before me, but my situation is different in terms of
- 1:07:41Speaker 5: I have kind of the opposite of what a lot
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: of girls needed when they started the reality show, started
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: loving hip hop or these other shows.
- 1:07:49Speaker 8: My career worked in opposite.
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: I had businesses that made millions of dollars, and I
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: bought the mansions. I drive all these cars off of me.
- 1:07:59Speaker 5: I just and have the musical success. A lot of
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: girls had the opposite starting off, they were super broke,
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: but they had the musical cloud.
- 1:08:08Speaker 8: So my stuff worked in reverse.
- 1:08:10Speaker 5: So where a lot of the girls came in the
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: show and were going through real life situations. Some were homeless,
- 1:08:14Speaker 5: some were really coming out to strip club, really moving
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: to Atlanta homeless, and the show threw them to the
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: woods out there, like, let's show us how homeless stripper is.
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: My situation is different because I'm company, and I was like,
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: it's different, like I'm good.
- 1:08:28Speaker 6: And real quickly for the audience, what were the businesses
- 1:08:31Speaker 6: that really set you up financially?
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: So my first business that took off was a hair business.
- 1:08:38Speaker 5: I had a hair company called Luciani Lux Hair, and
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: my hair just took off. I started off when the
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: buy it, selling vendors and building people's websites before e
- 1:08:50Speaker 5: commerce was like a conversation. Luckily, I had a neighbor
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: that was in it, and he taught me about it
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: and we started this big e commerce business with hair.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: So we.
- 1:09:01Speaker 8: Just to speed through it.
- 1:09:02Speaker 5: We would either build you your full website, get your hair,
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: get your website, get your tags, get your ALC.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: Get your EI. In we did everything.
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: You will wake up the next day for a small
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: fee of a couple thousand and wake up to a
- 1:09:15Speaker 5: fully running business. ADS just everything people are doing now,
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: one stop shop, one stop shop. I was blessed and
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: jumped on that wave when I first heard about it
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: years ago.
- 1:09:26Speaker 8: It just took the chance.
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: So it was like, I don't know what e commerce is,
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: but let me try it. I build a wholesale hair
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: I didn't build one of my partners. Build a wholesale
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: business where you never had a business before, where hairstylists
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: could come to my website. We know you need hair
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: all week long, your hairstylist. I set it up where
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: I was having it like you can buy a wholesale
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: for me. I got everything you need. You need tags,
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: you need bags, you need lashes, glue, everything wholesale. So
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: I just came into, honestly a lucky position before this commerce,
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: a blessed position. Before it was like versus the way
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: now everybody dropped shipping. I was doing it six years ago,
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: so that started it which led to my product that
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: I have now, which is called My Pretty Kitty. It's
- 1:10:11Speaker 5: a bikini product for your bikini area. It's a three
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: step kid like nare or something. Yeah, but it's all natural.
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: So mine is all turmeric based. I have a turmeric
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: bar of soap, I have a cream and a turmeric oil.
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: So my Pretty Kitty is what kind of did the
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: rest of everything how it's supposed to go?
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: Okay?
- 1:10:32Speaker 6: So, yeah, you got products to sell, man, you ain't
- 1:10:34Speaker 6: got time for the driving. Yeah, we know Renny is
- 1:10:37Speaker 6: not one of your favorites, anymore of your least favorite cast.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: Members Autumn heifers. To be careful now that jump.
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: You know what, it's reality TV. Everybody got a personality.
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: I have come on the show on a scene where
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: I had a lot of stuff and I wasn't the
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: most pleasant because I got real life. Now, I got
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: this camera in my face and I really don't like you,
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: and I half like you. So uh, it's just reality TV.
- 1:11:09Speaker 5: I don't look at any of them, even on the renting.
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: We we just we're out the country together and like.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: That's my stomach growl. It's just business.
- 1:11:19Speaker 5: Yeah, it's just business, and it's a show, and I
- 1:11:22Speaker 5: feel like with all the adversities, the best part to
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: prove you're a business woman you want to be successful
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: is I try to think of the money and I
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: look at stuff like I'm not trying to chase the
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: bag away and you do too much, You be too
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: ghetto because you could push the ghettle envelope. You can
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: share the money off. You could do too much, you
- 1:11:39Speaker 5: can say too much. And although I'm on the show
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: that I know is more drama driven, I'm standing behind
- 1:11:45Speaker 5: my products on the show so we can do all
- 1:11:47Speaker 5: this cat and.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: Audiot, we're gonna highight, were gonna highlight my products.
- 1:11:51Speaker 8: I don't come on set without it. I don't come
- 1:11:53Speaker 8: on set without it.
- 1:11:54Speaker 6: Andy does that on The Housewives, like give them what
- 1:11:56Speaker 6: they want. But at the same time, multi product these products.
- 1:12:00Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying, because why would you be.
- 1:12:03Speaker 8: On this national TV show not with show products.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: Squandering your opportunity.
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: But you won't believe how many of them on your
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: doing it, not showing and have products and services.
- 1:12:13Speaker 8: And just I'm on TV, so let.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: Me just be the baddie. And I'm sitting up there
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: like baby, I'm not.
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: Trying to I'm trying to be the bad lady, not
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: the baddie. But it's TV, so some people get it confused.
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: I'm on here for a purpose, and although I'm loving
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: just the new opportunity, it's so different just being miked up,
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: having just I've never been in a place where I
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: walk into and it's a few girls that don't like.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Me and we all in the ruin. I'm looking like, oh,
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: we can't be on those streets stuff. Today.
- 1:12:40Speaker 8: We're miked up.
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: We're really TV stars now our ten personalities.
- 1:12:44Speaker 8: I'm being taught.
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: I'm learning stuff too in this experience, because I'm like,
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: typically I wouldn't even be in a room with you,
- 1:12:51Speaker 5: but I have to now, and I gotta be nice,
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: and I gotta listen to you talk.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: I really want to flap you a little bit.
- 1:12:56Speaker 7: But you know, Okay, Well, Ferrari has been tech to
- 1:13:00Speaker 7: me and he won't leave me alone.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: He told me, uh, asks you.
- 1:13:05Speaker 7: Ferrari said, he thinks you and Mazie are back together.
- 1:13:09Speaker 8: Oh my god, I was sitting on that mail at night.
- 1:13:13Speaker 5: Okay, whoa I was with that ex last night, y'all?
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: What happened?
- 1:13:18Speaker 8: Let me tell you how to tell the truth without
- 1:13:19Speaker 8: making them look so bad again.
- 1:13:22Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: We were together six years and the last year of
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: the relationship, which was last year, when I broke up
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: with him, dumped them, left them like a bad habits.
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: I No, it just wasn't working out the way it
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: was going the first couple of years. I think that
- 1:13:40Speaker 5: when we kind of start coming into money and finances
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: and it's like, oh, we in his mansion, Oh look
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: at our cars, my mentality was, oh, we got to
- 1:13:48Speaker 5: keep these things that we acquired, like now we got
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: to work more. And just our backgrounds were different. He's
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: not the only child, but he has a little brother
- 1:13:57Speaker 5: that's like two years younger than him, so he was
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: raised an only child.
- 1:14:00Speaker 8: I got a full siblings.
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: I always was like, do more, do more, safe, be responsible.
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: So I think our backgrounds once we came into money,
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: money can he didn't change because money I didn't change.
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: But I saw it like, oh, shoot, we were supposed
- 1:14:17Speaker 5: to be like planning for this big wedding and I'm
- 1:14:20Speaker 5: saving up my half what we're supposed to do and
- 1:14:22Speaker 5: you're supposed to be working on this. And I think
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: that when we came into the money that his mentality
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: felt almost like we kind of made it, and I
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: was just like, we have not made it yet.
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: And your his is more.
- 1:14:33Speaker 6: We can relax a little bit, but he's got a
- 1:14:34Speaker 6: little comfortable and you were like, no, we're still on edge.
- 1:14:37Speaker 6: We have to I feel like it's worked to get in,
- 1:14:39Speaker 6: but work harder to stay.
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: In, right, And I can't I can't hurse on here, clearly,
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: Oh I can't say whatever you want.
- 1:14:45Speaker 8: I would have been cussing like a motherfus I know.
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: But he told me that when we became financially more
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: financially stable or successful, that I turned into a bitch. Basically,
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: he said, I turned into like I will wake up,
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: and this was true, like I have vision boards and
- 1:15:05Speaker 5: I would be waking like okay, so why are you
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: You were supposed to do this, like because now again
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: we have to keep these things we acquire. So in
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: his language, a bitch was like you a little more
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: like act like my mam, and now like we're gonna
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: keep this house, We're gonna keep these cars. But for me,
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: I felt like we have to sleep less.
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: Now look at this big ass house.
- 1:15:23Speaker 6: We just got, like the scariest It's like, yeah, are
- 1:15:27Speaker 6: you you're the oldest right of your fore siblings.
- 1:15:29Speaker 5: No, I'm the second, second oldest, three younger and one older.
- 1:15:32Speaker 6: But you still have a responsibility. You screw up with
- 1:15:34Speaker 6: a responsibility. Sure, you can't like just drop the ball,
- 1:15:38Speaker 6: because if you don't work, you ain't eating for sure.
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: Do you guys have kids?
- 1:15:43Speaker 5: No, we don't have kids. I don't have any kids.
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: He has kids, Okay, so that was another thing. I
- 1:15:48Speaker 5: kind of felt like I don't have kids yet. My
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: goal was I wanted to buy my house. I wanted
- 1:15:52Speaker 5: to get married. I know, I'm I'm backwards. A lot
- 1:15:55Speaker 5: of people say get married in the house. I knew
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: I wanted to get the house. I want to live
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: with you. I wanted to then I want to get married.
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: Then I wanted to have a kid. So we had
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: so much in order, and I felt like when the
- 1:16:05Speaker 5: money came, it was like a shock for me and
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: it was a shock for him. We reacted two different ways.
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: He reacted in like we never had money before, like
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: let's just enjoy it and live it, like we look
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: look at today right now, let's go shopping. And I
- 1:16:19Speaker 5: was like I started acting broke her when I got paid.
- 1:16:22Speaker 6: I was like, understand that because you don't want to
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: go back.
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: No, And so we were arguing a lot, and he
- 1:16:31Speaker 5: used to be like, you're not my mom. You act
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: like a little bit and I'm not trying to be
- 1:16:36Speaker 5: like you like mother. Hen holding onto the money and
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: how much did you spend on that trip hike?
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: And I was older. Those rich people do and that's
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: what I am.
- 1:16:45Speaker 6: And people say, steam, you know you save your money,
- 1:16:48Speaker 6: Your money will save you.
- 1:16:49Speaker 7: Yeah, you save your money, Your money will save you.
- 1:16:51Speaker 7: I tell people that all the time. I tell family members, man,
- 1:16:54Speaker 7: don't ask me for no money. Man, save your money,
- 1:16:57Speaker 7: because my money gonna have to save me eventually at
- 1:17:00Speaker 7: some point in life.
- 1:17:01Speaker 6: Just imagine how many people were scared when the pandemic
- 1:17:04Speaker 6: happened and still stay to build themselves back up.
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: And we our lives were the opposite when the pandemic
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: because we were the YouTube couple of the year for
- 1:17:12Speaker 5: the last couple of years.
- 1:17:13Speaker 8: So with us, we.
- 1:17:15Speaker 5: Came into so much money during the pandemic that was
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: almost wasn't fair. It was like people in the pandemic
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: are not watching YouTube more. Yep, So our stuff went
- 1:17:24Speaker 5: up five times.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: We was already killing it.
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: I was thinking like during the pandemics, like, oh my god, look,
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: we bought the mansion in the pandemic. We bought the
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: cars in the pandemic. And I was thinking, like, when
- 1:17:36Speaker 5: I started seeing the pandemic, I was affecting people.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: I started trying to hold on and you know what
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: I mean.
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: And I felt like with him, we just had two
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: different mindsets. He he lives like today, this is today.
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: We got this today. You want to go on another trip,
- 1:17:52Speaker 5: And I'm so the opposite. And I'm like, h we
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: could be broken a year.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: But that's how y'all got it, though, That's how we
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: got it.
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: And a biggering got too much and then you I'm
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: sure from a male perspective, when we start doing too
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: much bitching and stuff, it just go downhill.
- 1:18:06Speaker 8: But I'm not gonna stop.
- 1:18:07Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, it's just go downhill because I feel like
- 1:18:10Speaker 7: in y'all situation, you guys are business partners and then
- 1:18:13Speaker 7: y'all have to be relationship and you know, googlely goggly
- 1:18:17Speaker 7: and stuff like that. And I think you know, as
- 1:18:19Speaker 7: a man, it's like once it was like once you
- 1:18:21Speaker 7: start doing the bitching.
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: But then from a woman perspective, you know what I'm saying, sis.
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: When we start looking like I'm supposed to be marrying
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: you and then we got to share the money.
- 1:18:32Speaker 6: You got to look for yourself, come on like and
- 1:18:37Speaker 6: it's not even to be a selfish or anything like that,
- 1:18:40Speaker 6: but you know you could be left in destitute.
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:18:43Speaker 6: Actually, you have to look out for yourself because if
- 1:18:46Speaker 6: you've been broke before.
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: And you got some money, you do you do not
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: want to go back.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: You do not want to go back.
- 1:18:51Speaker 8: You almost do anything to not go back.
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: You know how people call me help.
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: When I came into my financial blessings, I became the
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: cheapest person. I used to spend more money when I
- 1:19:02Speaker 5: was broke. I didn't even have it, but I used
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: to somehow. I always was That's how it goes. Somehow
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: I had it. I always had it there and I
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: was broke. Well my money now, my mom, she laugh
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: at me. I what I even talking about?
- 1:19:16Speaker 8: The number?
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: I was somewhere with somebody and I was I got
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: them to go so long on their number. And my
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: mom is over my business, so she obviously is overshopifyed.
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: She see what the products do. When we walked away,
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: she said, bitch, you bet at ever, come in here
- 1:19:30Speaker 5: with your jurery on and get nobody to go down
- 1:19:33Speaker 5: on they price like that.
- 1:19:34Speaker 8: I can't believe he did it.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: I said, yeah, this is what I that's a good
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: business woman.
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: But you know what, white people's been doing it for
- 1:19:39Speaker 6: you for a year, rich white people.
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: That's why they stay rich.
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: You're not in designer Like to this day, I don't
- 1:19:45Speaker 5: wear designer. The only thing I care about is I
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: just like jury for some reason. But I don't wear
- 1:19:50Speaker 5: a designer.
- 1:19:51Speaker 7: So what's been your dumbest purchase since you've gained money?
- 1:19:56Speaker 8: A bad person?
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: I bought before? How much was it? S? Six hundred?
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: And it was so stupid when I when I left
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: back when I left with it and just kept looking
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: at it. I started adding up all the studio hours
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: and how much it costs and how much. I said,
- 1:20:10Speaker 5: you could have got four music videos out of this.
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: You could have did this.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: It was the.
- 1:20:13Speaker 8: Dumbest thing ever.
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: But I got hyped up again, used to be a
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: bro bitch, had a little dollar that day. I was like,
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: I've never done this. Why would I not have always
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: actually wanted that? As that broke me. That was my
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: one time doing it though, that's the difference with me
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: and a lot of people. I did that once.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: I respect that.
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: But sometimes it's.
- 1:20:30Speaker 6: Okay to work hard and then reward yourself with some things.
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: What number do you think you would feel comfortable enough to,
- 1:20:37Speaker 6: you know, spurge on yourself a little bit.
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: Another splurge would happen when I make another million dollars. Okay, yeah,
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: Because if you if you make the million, which I
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: have made it with Pretty Kitty, I've done it more
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: than once. You take off half of that away because
- 1:20:54Speaker 5: you had to put it right back in your product.
- 1:20:55Speaker 5: Now you took the five hundred off the one million
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: that you made, that's gone, and then x five hundred.
- 1:21:00Speaker 5: You go about to spend fifty to seventy a month
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: on advertisements, which is gonna make you probably spend fifty.
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: You probably might make one hundred and fifty off of
- 1:21:08Speaker 5: the fifty you spent. But that million go down so
- 1:21:11Speaker 5: fast you ain't got time to be talking about one
- 1:21:13Speaker 5: hundred thousand dollars shopping spree.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: How hard was it to get the first million?
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: It really wasn't hard for me, honestly, Again, and I'm
- 1:21:19Speaker 5: being humble when I said, my mom has always been
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: an entrepreneur. My mom had a cheering hip hop business
- 1:21:26Speaker 5: my whole life. My mom has always had a business,
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: so I've always been a frugal person to know about
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: saving because of her. So I made the million and
- 1:21:35Speaker 5: it was like I kind of really for real real
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: made it in seven months when I made my product,
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: and I was like, oh, shoot, and then spend a
- 1:21:45Speaker 5: lot of it to do it again.
- 1:21:47Speaker 8: That's just how I go.
- 1:21:49Speaker 6: But to go back to your relationship and you guys,
- 1:21:51Speaker 6: essentially it was money that it was at.
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: You guys, what happened with the channel? What channel was it?
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: It was?
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: We had a not a family channel with a couple channels.
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: It's called the Amy and Mazzie Show on YouTube.
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: Did you guys divide it or is just there?
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: Or no?
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: He kept the channel, and I was vocal about I
- 1:22:10Speaker 5: didn't feel like he was supposed to keep the channel.
- 1:22:13Speaker 5: A lot of people said he should have, but he
- 1:22:15Speaker 5: started the channel years ago before we ever met, but
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: he never posted on it.
- 1:22:20Speaker 8: So now you and me and we're together and.
- 1:22:22Speaker 5: We're been like this viral couple for a little bit,
- 1:22:25Speaker 5: so we take it to YouTube. I felt like, honey,
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: when we broke up and I dumped your black ass.
- 1:22:29Speaker 5: This is our channel, and I felt like I should
- 1:22:32Speaker 5: get the revenue still fifty to fifty like we've been
- 1:22:35Speaker 5: doing for years. But he felt like, no, this is
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: my channel that I had three years before I ever
- 1:22:40Speaker 5: met you, and we're not together. Go start your YouTube channel.
- 1:22:44Speaker 5: This is my channel, and he took all our videos off.
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: But I kind of felt like, you still getting the
- 1:22:50Speaker 5: revenue from the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousands
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: of subscribers that I helped build. But our breakup was
- 1:22:58Speaker 5: just so different. It was so weird because I kind
- 1:23:01Speaker 5: of felt like I kept the house.
- 1:23:03Speaker 8: I kept a lot of the stuff that was in
- 1:23:05Speaker 8: my name because I had the good credits.
- 1:23:08Speaker 5: And then I was like, you had a YouTube, You're
- 1:23:09Speaker 5: about to make a lot of money off of it.
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: I didn't want him to go down and just be
- 1:23:13Speaker 5: depleted without that's crazy, So I walked away from the YouTube.
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: My team was like, this is legal, you shouldn't do it,
- 1:23:20Speaker 5: but it's like, this is my ex.
- 1:23:22Speaker 8: I'm not trying to go to war.
- 1:23:24Speaker 5: And although in a nutshell you can say we broke
- 1:23:27Speaker 5: up for money, I think that when we really did
- 1:23:30Speaker 5: the breakup, I realized like looking at him and him
- 1:23:33Speaker 5: looking back at me.
- 1:23:34Speaker 8: I'm not changing.
- 1:23:36Speaker 5: I'm gonna always be that girl that is frugal, that
- 1:23:39Speaker 5: watches the money.
- 1:23:40Speaker 8: I balance it well.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Didn't ever get back together.
- 1:23:44Speaker 8: What we Yeah, somebody gonna have to change that part.
- 1:23:48Speaker 5: I had him blocked for a year, and on our
- 1:23:50Speaker 5: one year anniversary, I unblocked him. And when I unblocked him, no,
- 1:23:55Speaker 5: he caught in text and I was like thinking, what
- 1:23:58Speaker 5: how did that happen? Like, I just literally I'm blocked
- 1:24:00Speaker 5: you. You wouldn't know I ain't blocked you whatever. And he
- 1:24:03Speaker 5: was like, I literally every couple of days text you
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: and been doing it for a year.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:24:08Speaker 8: And I was like, I'm missing you too.
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: But you think, what kind of person do you think
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: you would need?
- 1:24:16Speaker 5: I want a person that's business minded. I like a.
- 1:24:19Speaker 8: Person when I wake up in the morning.
- 1:24:21Speaker 5: I like to talk about business in the morning, or
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: hypothetical business or a business idea. I just I'm turned
- 1:24:28Speaker 5: on by business. Even watching other people be great, I
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: love it. I just be like like, I just like business.
- 1:24:35Speaker 5: So I'm attracted to people who go get it, talk
- 1:24:39Speaker 5: about bullshit.
- 1:24:41Speaker 8: I like a guy who hold me accountable if I.
- 1:24:45Speaker 5: Say I'm dropping a mixtape on my birthday June third,
- 1:24:47Speaker 5: and on June second. I like a guy like, what's up, accountable.
- 1:24:51Speaker 5: I don't like a guy to let me lead because
- 1:24:53Speaker 5: I'm aggressive already. So so you want an alpha, gotta
- 1:24:57Speaker 5: have an alpha, but then you gotta let me be an alpha too.
- 1:25:00Speaker 5: That's why this kind of gets weird. Yeah, that is
- 1:25:03Speaker 5: one of my personal struggles because I am very alpha
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: like my mom and my ex fiance is an alpha
- 1:25:10Speaker 5: for sure.
- 1:25:10Speaker 8: But my thought is, you can't be an alpha. How
- 1:25:15Speaker 8: can I say it nicely?
- 1:25:16Speaker 6: You need more of a laid back alpha versus a
- 1:25:18Speaker 6: dominant one, and sometimes you just got to be a
- 1:25:20Speaker 6: season where you got to be less of the alpha
- 1:25:22Speaker 6: than me.
- 1:25:23Speaker 5: So if I have showed you, like with these business practices,
- 1:25:26Speaker 5: even down to his businesses helping him, he starts it,
- 1:25:29Speaker 5: but I'm behind it. I know the credit, I know business,
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: I know loans, I know all of that thanks to
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: my mom. If I'm the one helping doing it, now,
- 1:25:36Speaker 5: look at all the money you got now.
- 1:25:38Speaker 8: I feel like.
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: People should learn to for a short season. It don't
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: got to be forever. But in a relationship, I felt
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: like it was a season where he needed to be
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: like Lou, which is what he called me, she know
- 1:25:49Speaker 5: a business.
- 1:25:50Speaker 8: Let me step back.
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: See, I'm good with the YouTube and he's an artist.
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: He good with that, but my girl is good with
- 1:25:55Speaker 5: the business. If you too stuck on being an alpha
- 1:25:58Speaker 5: and you know you're not good at that, but because
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: you're in alpha, you gotta act like you're good and
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: be over me telling And that's what I felt like
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: started started happening because my success in my businesses. I
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: felt like with him, he started kind of looking like
- 1:26:12Speaker 5: you a little rich, used to be broke bitch when
- 1:26:14Speaker 5: I met you, and now you're acting like I know
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: it all, bitch. You were broke when I met you.
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: We have so much, it's so many lad with you.
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: That is how I felt. I felt like he thought
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: we had made it, and it started scaring me. We
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: had a wedding plan eight months before I broke up
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: with him, and I was like adding it up and
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: I was just like, maybe we rushing this, Like I
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: don't like how you are with money.
- 1:26:38Speaker 8: You don't like that you say.
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: That I talk and you felt like I'm the alpha
- 1:26:43Speaker 5: man over you when you're the man and I ain't changing.
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: But you're not gonna do better with your money, but
- 1:26:49Speaker 5: I gotta quiet down, So I broke up with him.
- 1:26:52Speaker 4: Did y'all ever want to do therapy or seek therapy
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: before that happened.
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: No, I'm different. I don't believe in that. I don't
- 1:26:59Speaker 5: believe that. If you find a person who is proved
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: to show like I keep everything everything in my name,
- 1:27:07Speaker 5: I hold me down, and now I'm with you and
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: suddenly I need a therapist to work and date you.
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: I just don't believe in that. I don't believe in that.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: Is that wrong?
- 1:27:18Speaker 5: Like, no, I do if I became the problem. But
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: if the only thing you saying I need some therapy
- 1:27:27Speaker 5: is because I'm too alpha, I challenge you and say,
- 1:27:30Speaker 5: why do you think I got.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: To be so alpha?
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: You're not being responsible with our money, so you're turning
- 1:27:35Speaker 5: me up more because I'm kind of like hyper dry,
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: I'm like kind of nervous now.
- 1:27:40Speaker 6: But what if it's not just for you, but like
- 1:27:42Speaker 6: for him to understand you, a person that can a
- 1:27:44Speaker 6: third party that can like help you guys understand one another.
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: Before we get to that point, he has to understand
- 1:27:51Speaker 5: that it's just you need to save your money.
- 1:27:54Speaker 7: We can't skip over it. But that's that's why most
- 1:27:56Speaker 7: people divorces is over.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: My money, and it ain't that.
- 1:27:59Speaker 8: It's also gold digging stuff because he good and I'm good.
- 1:28:02Speaker 8: I don't need you for.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: Money, you don't need me.
- 1:28:04Speaker 5: It was over money because we're about to become one.
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: I'm about to be your wife. I'm gonna have my
- 1:28:09Speaker 5: first damn baby, Like I don't. I'm not comfortable. And
- 1:28:13Speaker 5: I felt like I was screaming it and it got
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: to the point where it was like you ain't hearing me.
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: So we got to break up.
- 1:28:20Speaker 4: But y'all, are you know, kind of ining at each
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: other's lives right now?
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: Right now?
- 1:28:25Speaker 8: I have forgiven him.
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: He has forgiven me because we did a lot of
- 1:28:28Speaker 5: social media mess that he did it first and then
- 1:28:32Speaker 5: I followed it and it wasn't right anyway. I followed
- 1:28:35Speaker 5: it with some ignorance matching his energy, and it was
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: just disappointing to the fans for both of us to
- 1:28:41Speaker 5: do it.
- 1:28:41Speaker 8: So where we are right now, believe it or not.
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: When I left my my ex fiance, I left him
- 1:28:48Speaker 5: to get back with him. It was supposed to be
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: like a shake up almost like okay, So I've been
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: saying this for about two years. Now, we've had money
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: for two years. You're not listening. Watch this. We're done,
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: and here's the ring. That was what it was supposed
- 1:29:01Speaker 5: to be. I didn't think it was gonna last fifteen months.
- 1:29:03Speaker 5: But now fifteen months went by and I'm blocked, and
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: I'm like, dang, it's been a year. I actually unblocked
- 1:29:10Speaker 5: him right around two days after.
- 1:29:13Speaker 8: Take off.
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: Unfortunately passed away cause it was like on my heart,
- 1:29:18Speaker 5: I'm like, dang, life is so short. He was such
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: a fan of him. It just reminded me so much
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: of him.
- 1:29:22Speaker 8: I'm telling you.
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: When I unblocked him, he was texting and he's like,
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: I've been texting you, like all those things that you
- 1:29:28Speaker 5: said I had to get together fifteen months later, but
- 1:29:31Speaker 5: sending me the business to.
- 1:29:33Speaker 8: This the bank account, and I'm just like.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: This is all I ever wanted from you, So come.
- 1:29:38Speaker 8: Over here and get this cookie.
- 1:29:42Speaker 4: So he's giving you what you want.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: Do you see the change in him?
- 1:29:46Speaker 5: I see the changes, and I'm very happy, although we're
- 1:29:50Speaker 5: still taking this slow because now I was like, we're
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: living in two different places now.
- 1:29:53Speaker 8: We were together in one.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: House for six years.
- 1:29:56Speaker 5: I see the changes and I'm so happy, but I
- 1:29:59Speaker 5: want him to keep doing his thing, and I feel
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: like naturally will come back. I'm kind of not kind
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: that I've learned to enjoy liking my place too much
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: by myself, and he's liking he is too. And it's
- 1:30:13Speaker 5: weird because now I'm like, I feel like my fiance
- 1:30:16Speaker 5: is like just my little boo who just pull up
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: and leave and pull up.
- 1:30:20Speaker 8: But it's good.
- 1:30:23Speaker 5: Well, no, no, I don't think I missed fiance still.
- 1:30:26Speaker 5: I think when I called off the wedding and gave
- 1:30:28Speaker 5: the ring back that I think now I'm just like
- 1:30:31Speaker 5: his ex fiance.
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: Now, just say, you just said fiance is like my
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: little book.
- 1:30:35Speaker 8: Yeah, habit is a habit. He ain't get back yet, y'all.
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: Y'all without therapy though.
- 1:30:44Speaker 8: Right without therapy.
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: I'm willing to do therapy with him because I know
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: I got some stuff I gotta do alone. I need
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: therapy for some alone issues, I know for sure, and
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: he knows for sure he does. But I don't want
- 1:30:58Speaker 5: to be the couple. It's like, let's go together, and hell.
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: Let's do it separately. So you're open to therapy for sure.
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: For yourself.
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: I'm currently in it.
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: Oh how's that going?
- 1:31:09Speaker 8: It's going. Well, That's why I'll be able to be like, okay, girl,
- 1:31:12Speaker 8: are you done? Okay, God is good and walk off.
- 1:31:16Speaker 5: I'm there. And he was doing it for a minute.
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: And I don't want to get into his business too much,
- 1:31:22Speaker 5: but he was doing it for a minute. I don't
- 1:31:23Speaker 5: know if he's still doing it, but I know in
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: the beginning of the breakup, before I blocked him for real,
- 1:31:28Speaker 5: when he took stuff to social media, he was actively
- 1:31:32Speaker 5: in it, and like I was like, because I know
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: he needed it for certain things, and I did it
- 1:31:36Speaker 5: and I know I needed it, but I feel like
- 1:31:39Speaker 5: some of that kind of helped. And I think sometimes
- 1:31:42Speaker 5: you gotta leave a nigga. Sometimes you just gotta leave
- 1:31:44Speaker 5: him and be like, hey, just let him know that
- 1:31:47Speaker 5: you're serious, yeah, because they probably don't believe it. And
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: as in love as I am with him, still, he
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: knew how crazy I was over him, So I ain't
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: blame him for being my girl. I'm still making the
- 1:31:58Speaker 5: money and blowing the money. You still here six years,
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying. Why would he think? Why
- 1:32:03Speaker 5: would he think I was gonna be forell. But when
- 1:32:04Speaker 5: I really left, that's great advice. But he got it together.
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: That's great advice for someone.
- 1:32:11Speaker 6: To, you know, to really do it because men go
- 1:32:13Speaker 6: call your bluff every time, every time.
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: But that's good that you guys are doing the work individually.
- 1:32:18Speaker 6: It's you know, and him actively doing his part shows
- 1:32:22Speaker 6: that he really wants to be with you, and you
- 1:32:24Speaker 6: guys want to be with one another.
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: Yeah, you know in the.
- 1:32:26Speaker 5: End, and he's he's got some really big things he's
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: been working on. Like I'm just happy it's the same
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: person that I met and fell in love with years ago.
- 1:32:35Speaker 5: But again, the money, the money will show you deeper
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: of a person's upbringing.
- 1:32:42Speaker 8: And you don't got to settle and be.
- 1:32:45Speaker 5: Like I must just be challenged for the rest of
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: my life for the name and the sake of love,
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: because it can't be loved and coexisting when two people
- 1:32:52Speaker 5: got two different boundaries, and people try to say stuff
- 1:32:55Speaker 5: like all you left me for money, ain't me you
- 1:32:57Speaker 5: came up money ain't everything. Money is everything. That's why
- 1:32:59Speaker 5: you take it has to work every day because without
- 1:33:02Speaker 5: it there is nothing. So money is everything, but it's not.
- 1:33:06Speaker 5: It shouldn't be everything. Where one person has to be
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: like dating someone and feeling uncomfortable, like I could see
- 1:33:12Speaker 5: us in the year not having nothing. That is not
- 1:33:16Speaker 5: that's not right.
- 1:33:17Speaker 6: We have a bunch, but nay, we could talk to
- 1:33:21Speaker 6: you all that you are so funny, you are a storyteller,
- 1:33:25Speaker 6: you have great information.
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: You need to start a podcast booth.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: Everybody say that, yeah, because.
- 1:33:29Speaker 6: You got a lot, you got a lot of a
- 1:33:31Speaker 6: life that you have gyms.
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: But we appreciate you for stopping by.
- 1:33:36Speaker 6: Man, I could like, I could literally sit here and
- 1:33:38Speaker 6: talk for a whole nother hour, but I know we
- 1:33:40Speaker 6: gotta go, uh before.
- 1:33:41Speaker 4: We get out of here, though we do have a
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: pep talk.
