Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: No, that's the Erica Show on GE.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Do you think your relationship can work if you're on
- 0:05Speaker 2: the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to
- 0:07Speaker 2: your political views, Cory, you got some issues going on
- 0:10Speaker 2: right now.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just I'm not sure what to do anymore, because,
- 0:15Speaker 3: you know, I come from a family that has, you know,
- 0:18Speaker 3: one set of political beliefs. We all agree with each other,
- 0:21Speaker 3: and my husband and his family have completely contradicting views.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Like it's to the point where they're unfriending me on
- 0:31Speaker 3: social media. You know, the elections are coming up and everything,
- 0:33Speaker 3: and they can't handle what I'm posting. And I truly
- 0:38Speaker 3: don't understand how people say happily married if they have
- 0:42Speaker 3: such different political views.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Yeah, it's I mean, it's one thing I think if
- 0:47Speaker 4: they're minor, But it sounds like this is extreme, complete
- 0:50Speaker 4: opposite ends of the spectrum.
- 0:52Speaker 3: It just gets worse and worse, like to the point
- 0:54Speaker 3: that now they're unfriending me.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Oh, that's a problem. I don't kind that happen to
- 0:58Speaker 2: be actually, and it wasn't even my fault. I'll list
- 1:00Speaker 2: made a comment on my page and some of my
- 1:01Speaker 2: husband's family unfriended me.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Oh, I just don't think it's gonna work out. I
- 1:05Speaker 4: think if you're at the opposite end politically, you're not
- 1:08Speaker 4: going to respect the other person as a person. So,
- 1:11Speaker 4: oh that's tough.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Though, if you the love is could be strong.
- 1:14Speaker 4: I don't think it's gonna work out.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Nine one nine eight six zh one oh five to one?
- 1:17Speaker 2: What insight? What advice do you have for her?
- 1:20Speaker 3: Do you?
- 1:20Speaker 2: And if I's the Erica Show, Corey calling in, she's
- 1:23Speaker 2: at a loss because her and her husband are fighting
- 1:25Speaker 2: more now that it's a political year. They have different views,
- 1:27Speaker 2: but also the families are getting involved and so there's
- 1:30Speaker 2: unfriending happening. Can you survive if you have such opposing views?
- 1:34Speaker 4: I don't think if they're extreme, I don't think so, Ashlynn,
- 1:36Speaker 4: what do you think?
- 1:37Speaker 5: I feel like it could still work. I just think
- 1:40Speaker 5: they just don't bring it up, honestly, because everybody has
- 1:43Speaker 5: their own opinions. They're supposed to really be arguing about
- 1:47Speaker 5: politics anyway, and you know, if the family brings it up,
- 1:51Speaker 5: just ignore them. That's how I honestly feel, because you know,
- 1:54Speaker 5: you can't make people change your mind either.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Have you ever been at a family function where a
- 1:58Speaker 2: fight breaks out because of some it's in political.
- 2:01Speaker 5: No, I haven't.
- 2:02Speaker 4: You haven't been to one of my family functions there?
- 2:04Speaker 2: Oh your family's broken up? Like got angry because of that?
- 2:07Speaker 4: Don't I thought everyone I thought it was normal. I
- 2:09Speaker 4: thought everybody's did.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Do you and if five?
- 2:11Speaker 2: As the Erica Show, can your relationship survive? Corey reaching out?
- 2:15Speaker 2: She said, me and my husband are completely different. Our
- 2:17Speaker 2: families feel differently and it's causing fights.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Can we make it amy?
- 2:21Speaker 3: What?
- 2:21Speaker 4: You think?
- 2:22Speaker 1: You know what? I think it's possible, because you know,
- 2:25Speaker 1: if you love each other, you understand where you're both
- 2:28Speaker 1: are coming from. I feel like if you're both educated
- 2:31Speaker 1: and you have, you know, like a decent stance on
- 2:33Speaker 1: your on your political views, I think it's okay. I
- 2:35Speaker 1: think it's okay if you have a strong relationship. If
- 2:38Speaker 1: you have a weak relationship, I highly doubt that's going
- 2:40Speaker 1: to survive.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Okay, But I don't want to make it uncomfortable in here,
- 2:45Speaker 4: but I will because we're talking about people who are
- 2:48Speaker 4: at the opposite ends of this political spectrum. So yeah,
- 2:52Speaker 4: if you are pro life and you're with somebody who's
- 2:54Speaker 4: pro choice, can you really be okay with that?
- 2:57Speaker 2: That's a tough one, But I was about to ask
- 2:59Speaker 2: you the same thing. You've been married, happily married for
- 3:01Speaker 2: a while. You and your husband are on the same page.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Suddenly he flips the script and he's going for a
- 3:05Speaker 2: candidate that you're like, highly against. Is that gonna make
- 3:08Speaker 2: you break up or you'll work through it?
- 3:12Speaker 3: Wow? Delayed there.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Now we know where your husband stands.
