- 0:00Speaker 1: I am a funeral director and something has happened. That
- 0:03Speaker 1: and a bunch of other super scary Reddit stories coming
- 0:06Speaker 1: your way. First one here comes from Slash Ghost Stories
- 0:09Speaker 1: by Operation Tiny9461 and the title is I'm an undertaker
- 0:13Speaker 1: and something has happened. Something has happened, and I have
- 0:16Speaker 1: always been very skeptical until today. I am an undertaker,
- 0:20Speaker 1: and I have been for the past eight years. I
- 0:22Speaker 1: have always been skeptical when it comes to the afterlife,
- 0:24Speaker 1: especially the paranormal. But today, something happened that I cannot explain.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I was cleaning unclaimed ashes out of the funeral home
- 0:31Speaker 1: where I work. We are moving out of the old
- 0:33Speaker 1: Victorian building we operate into a new funeral home. For
- 0:37Speaker 1: the past week, I have been making a slow transition.
- 0:39Speaker 1: moving out of our current home into our new one.
- 0:42Speaker 1: In our basement, we have unclaimed ashes going back as
- 0:45Speaker 1: far as the 1970s. I just had my headphones in,
- 0:48Speaker 1: putting the boxes into bags so we could send them
- 0:51Speaker 1: to a local crematorium for them to be scattered. I
- 0:54Speaker 1: must have put away hundreds of boxes of ashes without
- 0:56Speaker 1: even thinking about it. I was just listening to a podcast,
- 0:59Speaker 1: getting another task ticked off my to-do list. I was
- 1:02Speaker 1: putting one box into the bag and I felt my
- 1:04Speaker 1: body and brain freeze with the word no. But I
- 1:09Speaker 1: didn't hear anything. It's hard to explain what I felt.
- 1:13Speaker 1: The best I can explain it is that my own
- 1:15Speaker 1: free will had gone and I was ordered to stop
- 1:18Speaker 1: what I was doing. I stopped immediately and put the
- 1:21Speaker 1: box of ashes in my hand onto another table. It's
- 1:25Speaker 1: hard to explain what I felt. The best I can
- 1:27Speaker 1: explain is that my own free will had gone, and
- 1:29Speaker 1: I was ordered to stop what I was doing. I
- 1:32Speaker 1: stopped immediately and put the box of ashes in my
- 1:36Speaker 1: hand onto the table. On closer inspection, there were two
- 1:39Speaker 1: boxes I was going to put into separate bags. One
- 1:42Speaker 1: small box and one normal-sized one. Let's just say, for
- 1:45Speaker 1: privacy reasons, one box was labeled Hannah Williams. On top
- 1:49Speaker 1: of Hannah Williams' ashes, there was a box labeled Baby Williams.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I presume they were mother and baby, who I was
- 1:56Speaker 1: about to separate into two separate bags, which I find
- 1:59Speaker 1: quite spooky because I didn't read the labels before. I
- 2:03Speaker 1: was doing a mundane task as fast as I could
- 2:05Speaker 1: with my existing duties for clearing out the premises. I
- 2:08Speaker 1: was just trying to get things done as fast as
- 2:10Speaker 1: possible and not paying attention to the names. I just
- 2:13Speaker 1: needed to get this done. So yeah, I cannot explain
- 2:15Speaker 1: this for the life of me. I cannot come up
- 2:17Speaker 1: with an explanation for this. I'm not scared nor am
- 2:19Speaker 1: I excited about what I felt. I just feel confused
- 2:22Speaker 1: about the whole situation. Let's read the comments before we
- 2:24Speaker 1: get into this. To me, this is a very powerful
- 2:27Speaker 1: illustration of the continuation of the consciousness after physical death.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Mom didn't want her remains separated from her child's and
- 2:33Speaker 1: firmly told you so. Simple and profound as that. I
- 2:36Speaker 1: think that's really beautiful. See, one more fun fact about me.
- 2:39Speaker 1: If you've been around for a while, then you know
- 2:40Speaker 1: that I collect stuff. human ashes or pet ashes I
- 2:44Speaker 1: don't know why I don't know why I like ashes
- 2:46Speaker 1: I don't understand the feeling I'm so curious and hey
- 2:49Speaker 1: maybe if you're watching this maybe you work at a
- 2:51Speaker 1: funeral home maybe you have unclaimed ashes from a million
- 2:53Speaker 1: years ago hey I'll take them I'll pay shipping at
- 2:55Speaker 1: this point I have about four different people I think
- 2:58Speaker 1: I know who they are I just I don't know
- 3:00Speaker 1: they're like my instant ancestors I know it's weird I
- 3:02Speaker 1: know it's weird I recently had um some ashes were
- 3:04Speaker 1: donated and um people were tagging me in it and
- 3:08Speaker 1: they ended up giving them to me they waited a
- 3:09Speaker 1: while that's the thing too this is the fun thing
- 3:11Speaker 1: about me collecting ashes if someone ever showed up and
- 3:13Speaker 1: said hey i lost track of them somehow my family
- 3:16Speaker 1: ended up with you i will give them back but
- 3:18Speaker 1: i think this is beautiful i think that mom in
- 3:20Speaker 1: this past life maybe some residual energy was just like
- 3:22Speaker 1: hey i need to be with my baby this is
- 3:24Speaker 1: who i am this is how it is and honestly
- 3:26Speaker 1: that is pretty special Next up, we have bought my
- 3:29Speaker 1: first house and found out it was haunted. I bought
- 3:32Speaker 1: my first house in 2003 and I was over the moon.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Shortly after moving in, two of my neighbors began joking
- 3:38Speaker 1: with me about the ghost in my house. Well, I
- 3:41Speaker 1: thought they were joking, so I just played along, pretending
- 3:43Speaker 1: I had seen one and that it was no big deal. Well,
- 3:45Speaker 1: as time went on to the summer, I met more
- 3:48Speaker 1: and more of my neighbors and they all brought up
- 3:50Speaker 1: the same topic. Finally, an elderly woman on the block
- 3:53Speaker 1: who was quite kind and friendly told me this story
- 3:55Speaker 1: after I had asked her. I knew she wasn't going
- 3:57Speaker 1: to screw with my head, which is why I asked
- 3:59Speaker 1: her in the first place. Turned out the previous owner
- 4:01Speaker 1: purchased the home and never lived there because she said
- 4:04Speaker 1: it was haunted. Sounds in the night, footsteps and sobbing,
- 4:07Speaker 1: and glimpses of a man sitting in the kitchen covered
- 4:10Speaker 1: in blood. one of my neighbors helped me with the
- 4:13Speaker 1: renovations of the house and said that he was putting
- 4:15Speaker 1: up drywall when he felt something lift up his dreadlocks
- 4:18Speaker 1: though i've never had paranormal experiences before and it had
- 4:21Speaker 1: been years and by then i had just chalked it
- 4:23Speaker 1: up to night terrors one day i went to a
- 4:25Speaker 1: small neighborhood video store to rent a movie i had
- 4:27Speaker 1: to fill out a form with my demographic data and
- 4:30Speaker 1: my credit card info the owner looked at the form
- 4:32Speaker 1: and said oh my god you live in that house
- 4:34Speaker 1: I asked her what she meant and she explained that
- 4:36Speaker 1: her former employee had committed bye-bye in that house. She
- 4:39Speaker 1: had came to the house as soon as she had
- 4:41Speaker 1: heard had been taped off by police as a potential
- 4:43Speaker 1: crime scene. She told me that he had just moved
- 4:45Speaker 1: into the house with his partner and had called his
- 4:47Speaker 1: mom because he wanted to invite her over to meet
- 4:49Speaker 1: the partner and to come out to her. This was
- 4:52Speaker 1: the early 1990s, and being gay was a big deal.
- 4:55Speaker 1: His mother already knew he was gay because he had
- 4:57Speaker 1: bought a house with a man and had disowned him
- 4:59Speaker 1: right over the phone. That same week, he received a
- 5:02Speaker 1: letter from an HIV testing center that stated that he
- 5:04Speaker 1: had tested positive for HIV. This is when HIV was
- 5:08Speaker 1: a death sentence. He then sat at the kitchen table,
- 5:10Speaker 1: ate a bowl of cereal, and went bye-bye. Since then,
- 5:13Speaker 1: she has had multiple paranormal experiences in the store, with
- 5:17Speaker 1: videos flying off shelves, even levitating off shelves. The most
- 5:19Speaker 1: I've ever experienced is sounds at night, sounds of Cheerios
- 5:22Speaker 1: being poured into a bowl, I don't eat cereal, the
- 5:24Speaker 1: sound of sobbing in the kitchen. I often awaken to both.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I remember my grandmother saying, when the dead come to you,
- 5:29Speaker 1: they want something. to perform an act of charity in
- 5:32Speaker 1: their name or pray for them so i did i
- 5:34Speaker 1: sat down at the kitchen table one night and lit
- 5:36Speaker 1: a candle and told him that each night i would
- 5:38Speaker 1: recite a novena prayer for him before a lit candle
- 5:41Speaker 1: on the ninth night of the first novena to the
- 5:43Speaker 1: saint anthony patron saint of lost souls i heard uncontrollable
- 5:47Speaker 1: sobbing i felt a strong presence of grief and despair
- 5:49Speaker 1: in the sound of hyperventilating breathing although somebody could not
- 5:52Speaker 1: catch their breath I sat in the presence of this,
- 5:54Speaker 1: knowing that it was not malignant, but rather a connection
- 5:56Speaker 1: of intimacy and compassion, of which he was still in need.
- 5:59Speaker 1: For forty-five days I said an event of prayer before
- 6:02Speaker 1: a lit candle for his soul, and had a mass
- 6:04Speaker 1: said in his name. A few times I had awakened
- 6:06Speaker 1: to feel his presence standing over my bed, but I
- 6:08Speaker 1: knew it was not a malignant presence. This still happens
- 6:10Speaker 1: from time to time, but less and less frequently. so
- 6:13Speaker 1: we have a top comment here oh my so sad
- 6:15Speaker 1: i feel for this poor lost old and op's lost
- 6:18Speaker 1: hours of sleep he was really wanting acceptance from his
- 6:20Speaker 1: mama and that is heartbreaking maybe starting a foundation in
- 6:23Speaker 1: support of the lgbtq with hiv or donation in his
- 6:26Speaker 1: honor that could be sweet and nice i'm saddened because
- 6:29Speaker 1: i'm a mother and i could not imagine turning away
- 6:31Speaker 1: any of my babies because of who they are or
- 6:33Speaker 1: what they are i love them with an open heart
- 6:35Speaker 1: it's so unconditional this can make me cry being a
- 6:38Speaker 1: mom changes you and i understand people have beliefs but
- 6:40Speaker 1: like i could never i could never remy could say
- 6:44Speaker 1: anything and i will i will love him unconditionally and
- 6:46Speaker 1: i will stand by obviously there's big bads killing people
- 6:49Speaker 1: or doing bad things to kids but like i don't
- 6:51Speaker 1: care who you love if you are not hurting anybody
- 6:53Speaker 1: then i hope you have the best time this is
- 6:54Speaker 1: such a sad beautiful story it really sounds like a
- 6:56Speaker 1: partial residual haunting he's just reliving the same motion over
- 7:00Speaker 1: and over and over again and that is the saddest
- 7:02Speaker 1: thing ever Next up, the title of this one is interesting.
- 7:05Speaker 1: It says, My husband died in 2020. This is Slash
- 7:07Speaker 1: Ghost Stories, and it is Tink the Chi. My husband
- 7:10Speaker 1: died in 2020. After he died, I found a series
- 7:12Speaker 1: of very unpleasant things about him. It was devastating, and
- 7:15Speaker 1: it took me more than three years to come to
- 7:17Speaker 1: grips with it. He died in August of 2020, and
- 7:19Speaker 1: I sold our condo in June of 2021. He had
- 7:22Speaker 1: renovated the entire condo. Kitchen, both bathrooms, flooring, trim, doors, everything.
- 7:27Speaker 1: It took nearly three years. I have two small dogs,
- 7:29Speaker 1: and when the realtor told me that somebody was coming
- 7:31Speaker 1: to see the property, I took the dogs, locked the door,
- 7:34Speaker 1: and went outside. The realtor told me to be out
- 7:36Speaker 1: for about 30 minutes. After that period, I went back upstairs.
- 7:39Speaker 1: The door was locked. I entered it, and when I did,
- 7:41Speaker 1: it looked as if people had been there. Doors were moved,
- 7:44Speaker 1: the laundry doors were wide open. I had closed them,
- 7:46Speaker 1: they were barn doors. I then got a text from
- 7:48Speaker 1: the realtor asking me why I didn't put the key
- 7:50Speaker 1: in the lockbox on the main floor outside. The people
- 7:52Speaker 1: couldn't get in with their realtor. I'll be honest, I
- 7:55Speaker 1: was in a very bad place after he died, particularly
- 7:58Speaker 1: after what I found, and thinking in great detail was
- 8:00Speaker 1: not something I was doing. I went to the main
- 8:02Speaker 1: washroom and saw that the bath mat was sitting over
- 8:04Speaker 1: the tub, not the way I left it. I touched
- 8:06Speaker 1: it and felt water, almost like someone had just gotten
- 8:08Speaker 1: out of the shower and had been standing on it.
- 8:10Speaker 1: It was a fairly big apartment, two bedrooms, an office,
- 8:13Speaker 1: and when the dogs and I were in bed at night,
- 8:14Speaker 1: I could hear noises in the kitchen after he died
- 8:16Speaker 1: at night. I was too afraid to get out of bed.
- 8:18Speaker 1: It was a concrete building and we couldn't hear anything
- 8:20Speaker 1: people were doing in the apartments near us, so hearing
- 8:23Speaker 1: something was very unusual. i moved in june of 2021
- 8:25Speaker 1: to a new condo the first night i was alone
- 8:28Speaker 1: the dogs were being taken care of i was lying
- 8:30Speaker 1: in bed not asleep laying on my side at the
- 8:32Speaker 1: edge and i felt someone brush past me my hair
- 8:34Speaker 1: actually moved and it scared the hell out of me
- 8:36Speaker 1: i lay there for a few minutes afraid to move
- 8:38Speaker 1: finally i move again recently from where i've been living
- 8:40Speaker 1: last christmas i was in bed with the bedroom door
- 8:42Speaker 1: open and i clearly heard three knocks on the door
- 8:45Speaker 1: it happened twice and this also really scared me i've
- 8:47Speaker 1: never been one to think of the spirit world until
- 8:49Speaker 1: recently last christmas i made statements out loud and i
- 8:52Speaker 1: told him to leave me alone so far it's all
- 8:54Speaker 1: been good and the last four years have been real
- 8:56Speaker 1: nice so then the top comment here is interesting it
- 8:58Speaker 1: says i hate that i'm more curious about what your
- 9:00Speaker 1: late husband did than the way you've had to live
- 9:02Speaker 1: after his death i hope you can find peace now
- 9:04Speaker 1: and damn we got an og the post the og
- 9:08Speaker 1: poster posted about what her husband actually did so sit
- 9:12Speaker 1: down it's about to get juicy I'm not joking about death,
- 9:15Speaker 1: but I am freaking curious. My deceased husband and his
- 9:18Speaker 1: many secrets. My husband was, by all accounts, in 2020, healthy.
- 9:22Speaker 1: He had a cardiac situation that required surgery in August
- 9:25Speaker 1: of that year. Complete surprise. He called me at work
- 9:27Speaker 1: and he was driving and he said he thought he
- 9:29Speaker 1: was having a stroke. He said he had chest pain.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I told him it was a heart attack. I asked
- 9:33Speaker 1: him to pull over and call 911. I met him
- 9:35Speaker 1: in a parking lot. I called 911 because he still
- 9:37Speaker 1: hadn't done this. And the EMT came, hooked him up,
- 9:39Speaker 1: and promptly told me it wasn't a heart attack, but
- 9:41Speaker 1: that he was being taken to the hospital. Before the
- 9:43Speaker 1: EMT arrived, he had his phone. I asked him what
- 9:45Speaker 1: the code was to open it. He said yes and
- 9:48Speaker 1: looked at me and said, I'm so sorry. We have
- 9:50Speaker 1: been together for 10 years. It was a second marriage
- 9:52Speaker 1: for both of us. I loved this man with all
- 9:54Speaker 1: my heart. He appeared to be treating me well. Very well.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Nine days later, he was removed from life support. He
- 9:59Speaker 1: had incurred several strokes on the operating table. I was devastated.
- 10:03Speaker 1: He was 55 and I was nearly 57. His mother
- 10:06Speaker 1: and sister came from across country when he was in
- 10:08Speaker 1: hospital and they stayed with me for three weeks. One night,
- 10:11Speaker 1: a few days after he passed, I found a box
- 10:13Speaker 1: of old phones. Many phones. He had kept them all.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I went through them looking at old texts. At first,
- 10:18Speaker 1: it was wonderful. Then, for reasons I can't explain, I
- 10:20Speaker 1: went into his call log on the other phone. There's
- 10:22Speaker 1: a number that had been calling him every morning on
- 10:24Speaker 1: the way to work, and he had been calling them
- 10:26Speaker 1: every night on the way home. Every work day. Without thinking,
- 10:29Speaker 1: I called the phone number from my phone, but it
- 10:31Speaker 1: was disconnected. The name Heather popped up on my phone
- 10:33Speaker 1: when I called it, and on his phone, it said
- 10:35Speaker 1: Heather XXXXXX. I went to his Gmail account. I had
- 10:39Speaker 1: never done this before. He left it signed in on
- 10:41Speaker 1: his laptop, which had the same code to open it
- 10:43Speaker 1: as his phone. I searched for this name, and I
- 10:45Speaker 1: found several email messages that he had sent to himself
- 10:48Speaker 1: with attachments. He had been having an affair with this
- 10:50Speaker 1: woman for 2.5 years. At some point, she had told
- 10:53Speaker 1: him that she was pregnant. She was 30, and again,
- 10:55Speaker 1: he was 55 when he died. I sat there, stunned.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I searched through the other founds and found 299 screenshots.
- 11:03Speaker 1: of Blackberry Conversations in the photo gallery. That number is
- 11:07Speaker 1: not an exaggeration. There were 299. They were having freaky
- 11:11Speaker 1: time frequently during the day. He was never out at night.
- 11:14Speaker 1: He was leaving early for work and driving to her,
- 11:16Speaker 1: and they were doing that. He was taking her shopping,
- 11:18Speaker 1: out to lunches. She was kind enough to include photos
- 11:21Speaker 1: of her at her workplace, and she had her name,
- 11:24Speaker 1: so I called there. She sat there stunned in silence
- 11:27Speaker 1: as I told her who I was and asked if
- 11:28Speaker 1: there was a baby. She blurted out, no. Months go by.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I'm obsessed with this girl. It's affecting my mental health.
- 11:34Speaker 1: His daughter came by one night. I recalled a story
- 11:37Speaker 1: that he had told me and she said, no, that's
- 11:39Speaker 1: not right. He told me blank. Something didn't sit right
- 11:42Speaker 1: with me. So I reached out to his ex-wife whom
- 11:44Speaker 1: he had been married to for 26 years. We had
- 11:46Speaker 1: never met before. He made her out to be a
- 11:48Speaker 1: horrible person. She sat and held my hand in the
- 11:50Speaker 1: car when we met and she cried when I told
- 11:52Speaker 1: her my story. He had cheated on her as well.
- 11:54Speaker 1: The worst part is everything that he had told me
- 11:57Speaker 1: about his life was a lie. Everything. He created a
- 11:59Speaker 1: fake person. Someone he thought I would like. And he
- 12:01Speaker 1: lived as that person. He kept me apart from his
- 12:03Speaker 1: ex-wife because she could expose him. A year later, I
- 12:06Speaker 1: found an appointment card for a therapist he had been seeing.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I knew he was in therapy, but he told me
- 12:10Speaker 1: it was PTSD. It wasn't. The person he was seeing
- 12:13Speaker 1: was a therapist specializing in sex addiction and affairs. To
- 12:16Speaker 1: make a long story short, I ended up calling this person,
- 12:18Speaker 1: told him my husband had passed, and talking to him.
- 12:20Speaker 1: He told me my husband had been having sex with
- 12:22Speaker 1: men since his early 20s. He told me he knew
- 12:25Speaker 1: about the girlfriend and that she had been pregnant and
- 12:27Speaker 1: that my husband rarely talked about her. He knew that
- 12:29Speaker 1: my husband was lying a lot of the time. I
- 12:31Speaker 1: got STD tested, a full panel of testing, and was devastated.
- 12:34Speaker 1: One day I got the negative tests. I drove home
- 12:36Speaker 1: sobbing and screaming in the car. Then I found the recordings.
- 12:39Speaker 1: he had been recording all of his telephone conversations with
- 12:42Speaker 1: everyone for years and they were on his laptop the
- 12:44Speaker 1: 30 year old i had every discussion they'd ever had
- 12:46Speaker 1: he had even recorded their meetings in person i reached
- 12:49Speaker 1: out to her husband because i wanted him to be
- 12:50Speaker 1: aware what i had found and they had been separated
- 12:53Speaker 1: since 2018. i sent him everything i had recording screenshots
- 12:56Speaker 1: he thanked me we're still friends to today he's still
- 12:59Speaker 1: single and so am i this journey has been devastating
- 13:01Speaker 1: and eye-opening i've learned a lot about narcissistic personality disorder
- 13:04Speaker 1: Since I found out all of this has been helpful,
- 13:06Speaker 1: his therapist kind of told me he didn't love himself,
- 13:09Speaker 1: so he couldn't love anybody else. I believe this. Damn! Damn!
- 13:13Speaker 1: And now he's haunting you from beyond the grave? Damn!
- 13:17Speaker 1: I am so sorry. Douche, go away. You made your bed.
- 13:21Speaker 1: You lie in it. And hell, sorry. Just, if you
- 13:25Speaker 1: don't ruin someone's life just because you hate yourself. You
- 13:27Speaker 1: know what I mean? Anyways, let's get into the next one.
- 13:29Speaker 1: The title of this is My Son Scares Me. I
- 13:31Speaker 1: hope mine never does. Please God, no, this sounds like
- 13:34Speaker 1: me when I was a child. What did you say? What?
- 14:02Speaker 1: I'm trying to go to bed. You go get it.
- 14:05Speaker 1: It's downstairs, that way. No, I'm trying to sleep. You
- 14:07Speaker 1: go downstairs. What? Ugh, I can't hear you. Come here.
- 14:11Speaker 1: That is when I jumped out of bed and flipped
- 14:12Speaker 1: on the bedroom light because he is not about to
- 14:14Speaker 1: invite whatever this thing is into bed with us. Sobbing,
- 14:17Speaker 1: I asked him, Buddy, who are you talking to? And
- 14:20Speaker 1: he points to the corner of the room and says,
- 14:21Speaker 1: Over there. And I said, Baby, I cannot see who
- 14:25Speaker 1: it is. You need to tell me. Who is it?
- 14:26Speaker 1: Is it a boy? A girl? The child looks at
- 14:29Speaker 1: me and says- I had a moment where panic ran
- 14:32Speaker 1: through me, but growing up, I had many paranormal experiences myself,
- 14:35Speaker 1: so I sat with him, and I asked him, do
- 14:37Speaker 1: you want the monster to leave you alone? He said, yeah.
- 14:41Speaker 1: So I had him repeat after me as we told
- 14:43Speaker 1: the monster to go away and that he was not
- 14:45Speaker 1: welcome in our home. My son decided to end it with, yeah,
- 14:48Speaker 1: leave me alone. Two minutes later, my son was sound asleep. However,
- 14:51Speaker 1: I was up for another few hours after that, and
- 14:53Speaker 1: this was the beginning of my child saying absolute creepy shit.
- 14:56Speaker 1: You want more? Let me know. And in the comments,
- 14:59Speaker 1: it says, okay, you can't just give us one story.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Give us all the creepy stories. And they said, when
- 15:03Speaker 1: I was a baby, my mom would call my sister,
- 15:05Speaker 1: big age gap, and tell her she didn't know what
- 15:07Speaker 1: to do with me. Apparently, I wouldn't sleep at night
- 15:09Speaker 1: and I would stay up in my crib, not crying,
- 15:11Speaker 1: just baby babbling into nothingness. My brother and I shared
- 15:15Speaker 1: a room, but she had the opposite problem with him
- 15:17Speaker 1: where she would regularly have to check on him to
- 15:18Speaker 1: make sure he was still breathing. He would sleep so deeply.
- 15:20Speaker 1: So when she would come to check on him, she
- 15:22Speaker 1: would always just hang out with me awake in my crib.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Eventually she gave up and started leaving some toys for
- 15:26Speaker 1: me to play with so I wouldn't get bored. Kids
- 15:28Speaker 1: are spooky. And I'm going to tell you right now,
- 15:29Speaker 1: if Remy shows up and he's at the side of
- 15:31Speaker 1: my bed and he's just like, Mommy, there's a man upstairs.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Get in the bed and I'm sending your dad up.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I'm sending him up with a bear mace. I don't
- 15:38Speaker 1: want to know. He does. Sometimes like we'll just be like,
- 15:40Speaker 1: he'll be like eating food and then he'll like look
- 15:42Speaker 1: beyond me and be like, and give a spoon to
- 15:45Speaker 1: someone who's not there. And I can't tell who it is,
- 15:48Speaker 1: and that's what really freaks me out. Next up, we
- 15:50Speaker 1: have my dead sister ratted me out to my mom. What?
- 15:54Speaker 1: Literally what it says. My older sister passed away at
- 15:57Speaker 1: five years old, a year before I came along. My
- 15:59Speaker 1: mom is super connected to her still to this day,
- 16:02Speaker 1: and I have quite a few stories that I could share.
- 16:04Speaker 1: This one, though, makes me laugh now. I'm in my 20s.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I start smoking, and my mom is very anti-drugs, so
- 16:09Speaker 1: I only smoked when she wasn't around. A few days
- 16:12Speaker 1: after returning from A Night Away, she cornered me in
- 16:14Speaker 1: the kitchen and told me she had a dream about Tina,
- 16:17Speaker 1: my big sister. Tina told her I was smoking wacky
- 16:20Speaker 1: tobacco in this dream. Yeah, she wanted to ask me
- 16:22Speaker 1: if it was true. I convinced her it was just
- 16:24Speaker 1: a weird dream and absolutely was not. Sorry, Mom. We
- 16:27Speaker 1: could have moved on. Three days later, my mom came
- 16:29Speaker 1: bursting into my room at 4 a.m., shouting at me
- 16:31Speaker 1: that I was lying to her. tina had come back
- 16:34Speaker 1: and told her i was lying and that i am
- 16:36Speaker 1: i had to get up for work at five so
- 16:38Speaker 1: i got up and made tea because she was really
- 16:40Speaker 1: angry so i confessed all and she went back to
- 16:42Speaker 1: bed annoyed at me for making me doubt my sister
- 16:44Speaker 1: more than smoking so yeah my dead sister rats me
- 16:47Speaker 1: out to my parents i love how it says so
- 16:49Speaker 1: you still have to put up with a bitchy sister
- 16:52Speaker 1: ratting you out even from the afterlife oh god my
- 16:54Speaker 1: future's scuffed that's really funny I'm sorry. Your big sister
- 16:59Speaker 1: did the right thing. She is protecting you from beyond
- 17:01Speaker 1: the grain and from beyond the grave. And there is
- 17:03Speaker 1: nothing wrong with that. You should be thankful. You should
- 17:05Speaker 1: be thankful that she loves you. Now, last one here.
- 17:07Speaker 1: We have my trip to the slaughter yard. A story
- 17:10Speaker 1: my mom wouldn't tell me until my 30s. This is
- 17:13Speaker 1: coming from slash ghost stories from wolf underscore dream. So
- 17:17Speaker 1: let me start off by saying that I enjoy writing,
- 17:19Speaker 1: so this will be long, but it is nonfiction though.
- 17:21Speaker 1: It will hopefully be an interesting read. I also admit
- 17:23Speaker 1: that I have absolutely no memory of this experience. I
- 17:25Speaker 1: was a little over two years old and I was
- 17:27Speaker 1: just starting to walk on my own when this event
- 17:29Speaker 1: took place. My mom only told me this story around
- 17:31Speaker 1: three years ago when I was 32 and about to
- 17:33Speaker 1: get married. My mom was raised in a very tiny
- 17:36Speaker 1: fundamentalist Christian community and had no belief in the paranormal.
- 17:39Speaker 1: She believed that our souls sleep until judgment day or
- 17:42Speaker 1: something like that. Ergo, there are no ghost stories or
- 17:44Speaker 1: spirits that haunt houses. Even over 30 years later, she
- 17:47Speaker 1: still sounded terrified as she told me this. This woman
- 17:49Speaker 1: who always talks way too loud was literally whispering by
- 17:52Speaker 1: the end of it, and she was white as a sheet.
- 17:54Speaker 1: I believe her completely and still do. My mom never
- 17:57Speaker 1: talks about stuff like this, and I'm just glad I
- 17:59Speaker 1: can't remember it too. In 1988, my parents had their
- 18:02Speaker 1: second child. This is my brother, Victor. We were very
- 18:05Speaker 1: crowded in our rented flat with two babies. My parents
- 18:07Speaker 1: decided to move to a rambling old two-story farmhouse on
- 18:10Speaker 1: a seven-acre plot in southern Ohio for more room for
- 18:13Speaker 1: the family. It was way out in the sticks and
- 18:15Speaker 1: took almost an hour to get to from town from there.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Mom said the first time I saw the house, I
- 18:20Speaker 1: freaked out. I was crying and saying things like, don't
- 18:22Speaker 1: like mean house, mean house, ugly house, don't like scary house, mama,
- 18:26Speaker 1: don't like. My mom says this behavior was very out
- 18:28Speaker 1: of character for me, but I stopped complaining about the
- 18:31Speaker 1: house after a few weeks, so she chalked it up
- 18:33Speaker 1: to the stress of the move. Now, this house was
- 18:35Speaker 1: ramshackle AF and in the middle of nowhere. The kitchen
- 18:38Speaker 1: was at the far rear of the house until recently
- 18:40Speaker 1: before we moved in. It still had a working ancient
- 18:42Speaker 1: wood-burning cooking stove against the back wall. It had caught
- 18:45Speaker 1: the back wall on fire a couple months before we
- 18:47Speaker 1: moved in, causing a lot of damage. A lot of
- 18:49Speaker 1: this damage wasn't fixed. So my young broke parents got
- 18:52Speaker 1: a very cheap rent agreement. Gotta love the 80s. On
- 18:54Speaker 1: the second floor, directly above the kitchen, was a locked room.
- 18:57Speaker 1: The landlord claimed it had heavy fire damage, but her son,
- 19:00Speaker 1: who had done the repairs, claimed that the only fire
- 19:02Speaker 1: damage left was in the kitchen and that it had
- 19:04Speaker 1: been the worst beyond his skill level to fix. Either way,
- 19:06Speaker 1: the landlord was adamant that the room was off limits.
- 19:09Speaker 1: My parents always respected that, and I would have looked 100%.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I know all of this because I heard stories about
- 19:15Speaker 1: creepy farmhouses with creepy doors my whole life, and there
- 19:18Speaker 1: were pictures of us around the farmhouse, and the locked
- 19:20Speaker 1: door was right next to the upstairs landing, so there
- 19:22Speaker 1: was no avoiding it, and both my parents had told
- 19:24Speaker 1: me it had given them the creeps. A few months
- 19:26Speaker 1: after we moved in, my mother and I were in
- 19:28Speaker 1: the yard with our Pitt Doberman mix, Boss. She was
- 19:31Speaker 1: hanging laundry and I was rolling around with the dog.
- 19:33Speaker 1: She said that just as she noticed, everything went way
- 19:36Speaker 1: too silent. Boss started going apeshit from surprisingly far away,
- 19:40Speaker 1: about 500 yards from the house on the left. There
- 19:42Speaker 1: was a small duck pond. Boss was in between the two,
- 19:45Speaker 1: running towards my mom, then turning rack and running towards
- 19:48Speaker 1: the pond, barking frantically the whole time. time. My mom
- 19:50Speaker 1: saw something thrashing off in the riddle of the pond.
- 19:52Speaker 1: She took off towards the water full speed. Boss beat
- 19:55Speaker 1: her there and drug me out of the water himself.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Thank you, pupper. Although my mom was confused how I'd
- 20:00Speaker 1: gotten so far so fast, and how I got into
- 20:02Speaker 1: the center of the pond since it was over my
- 20:04Speaker 1: head and I couldn't swim. Glitch in the matrix. She
- 20:06Speaker 1: figured she had underestimated me and now had put me
- 20:08Speaker 1: in baby gates and play pens. I was now to
- 20:10Speaker 1: be contained from now on. A few weeks later, she
- 20:12Speaker 1: was cooking downstairs. Boss was outside, Victor asleep in his crib,
- 20:15Speaker 1: and I was in my play pen in my room upstairs.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I also had a gate on my door and one
- 20:19Speaker 1: at the top of the stairs. The stairs ran from
- 20:21Speaker 1: the side of the kitchen. The stairs ran up from
- 20:23Speaker 1: the side of the kitchen. So my mom said that
- 20:25Speaker 1: she would listen to us crying and fussing while she
- 20:27Speaker 1: was cooking. my mom said no longer than 15 minutes
- 20:30Speaker 1: after the time she had looked at us kids boss
- 20:32Speaker 1: started going crazy in the yard she runs to check
- 20:34Speaker 1: on us victor is still sleeping my baby gate still
- 20:36Speaker 1: shut and locked but i am not in my room
- 20:39Speaker 1: the frenzy search reveals that i am not in the
- 20:41Speaker 1: house at all a sudden image of boss saving me
- 20:43Speaker 1: from drowning causes my mom to rush outside to see
- 20:46Speaker 1: what he's trying to tell her this time she said
- 20:47Speaker 1: she was running in circles in the yard barking uncontrollably
- 20:50Speaker 1: when she got outside he took off towards the right
- 20:52Speaker 1: away from the pond He would run ahead, turn around,
- 20:55Speaker 1: and bark at my mother, wait for her to catch
- 20:56Speaker 1: up a little bit before racing off again. He ended
- 20:58Speaker 1: up leading her almost a mile and a half out
- 21:01Speaker 1: onto the dirt road that separated our property from our neighbors.
- 21:04Speaker 1: He led her to a thick stand of trees on
- 21:06Speaker 1: our neighbor's side of the rocky drive. She said what
- 21:09Speaker 1: hit her first was a foul stench of advanced decay.
- 21:12Speaker 1: She plowed into the trees with her heart in her
- 21:14Speaker 1: throat and her stomach full of ice when she noticed
- 21:16Speaker 1: many piles of corrugated tin tarps. tires and other debris.
- 21:20Speaker 1: The misma was emanating most strongly from the junkyard carrots.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Peeking under a sheet of tin, she discovered an extremely
- 21:26Speaker 1: decomposed corpse of a butchered cow. As she headed deeper
- 21:30Speaker 1: into the thicket, there were tree cover and it got
- 21:32Speaker 1: denser and she said less care was taken to cover
- 21:34Speaker 1: the remains. Grizzly pieces of bones, rotted chunks of bovine
- 21:37Speaker 1: littered the area. Apparently our neighbor, in an effort to
- 21:40Speaker 1: cheat taxes, had been illegally slaughtering cattle and hiding the remains,
- 21:44Speaker 1: or at least in the few thick stands of trees around.
- 21:47Speaker 1: She found me dead center in the middle of this thicket,
- 21:50Speaker 1: just standing there, looking around like I was confused. I
- 21:53Speaker 1: was surrounded by carnage. She said I didn't seem scared
- 21:55Speaker 1: or anything, just standing. She rushed over to me after
- 21:58Speaker 1: asserting that I wasn't injured, began questioning me on why
- 22:00Speaker 1: I was there and how I got there, etc. Keep
- 22:02Speaker 1: in mind, although my mother said I had started speaking
- 22:04Speaker 1: very young, I didn't have much vocabulary. She said I
- 22:07Speaker 1: told her, with a very serious look, that only small
- 22:09Speaker 1: children can give, and that small children had brought me there,
- 22:13Speaker 1: shitting her pants. Ugh. At the thought of anyone, even children,
- 22:17Speaker 1: could walk right through the kitchen and get me from upstairs,
- 22:19Speaker 1: walk back down past her, through the stairs past her,
- 22:22Speaker 1: she demanded to know what children and where the hell
- 22:24Speaker 1: they are now. I looked at her dead serious and
- 22:26Speaker 1: told her the ones that live with us in the
- 22:28Speaker 1: room at the top of the stairs and that I
- 22:30Speaker 1: don't see them anymore. After a moment of stunned silence,
- 22:33Speaker 1: she started asking all kinds of questions about these children. However,
- 22:36Speaker 1: she told me that I refused to say anything. She
- 22:38Speaker 1: said as long as she questioned me about what happened
- 22:42Speaker 1: I would just stand there staring at her with a
- 22:44Speaker 1: serious expression with my mouth closed. She said this same
- 22:47Speaker 1: pattern held very true to the other time she brought
- 22:50Speaker 1: it up and that she was always left wondering and
- 22:52Speaker 1: immediately began hounding my dad about moving closer to town.
- 22:55Speaker 1: While the incident with me getting into the pond was
- 22:57Speaker 1: highly unlikely, it was at least remotely possible. My mother
- 23:00Speaker 1: is adamant with me being in the hidden slaughter yard
- 23:03Speaker 1: that that was flat out impossible. She said that there
- 23:06Speaker 1: is no way I could have even known it was there,
- 23:08Speaker 1: much less have the ability to open and relock the
- 23:11Speaker 1: baby gates. get downstairs, past her, and end up almost
- 23:14Speaker 1: two miles down the road in this place under 15 minutes.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I was only two, slow and clumsy as most toddlers.
- 23:20Speaker 1: As I said, she was still shaken by it after
- 23:22Speaker 1: 30 years. Personally, I have no idea what happened that day.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I thought about hypnosis, but I haven't decided if I
- 23:27Speaker 1: really want to remember. Maybe it's better to let it
- 23:29Speaker 1: be a mystery, because whatever the fuck those things were,
- 23:32Speaker 1: I really don't think they were children. that's terrifying top
