Sunny mornings send you. In local news, Hampshire
• 2:36
College in Amherst has announced its transition
• 2:39
to closure after struggling with financial difficulties
• 2:42
and declining enrollment. The college's president,
• 2:46
Jennifer Chrysler, stated in an email, Despite
• 2:49
this Herculean effort, the financial pressures
• 2:52
on the college's operations have become increasingly
• 2:55
complex, compounded by shifting external factors.
• 3:00
She added, We are faced with the clear, heartbreaking
• 3:03
reality that progress on each of these three
• 3:06
key factors has fallen far short of what we had
• 3:09
hoped. In related news, another Massachusetts
• 3:12
school has been put on warning by the state as
• 3:15
the New England Commission of Higher Education
• 3:17
reviews its performance. Now on to sports. Amazon
• 3:28
Prime Video's broadcast of the Heat Hornets'
• 3:31
play -in -game cutout, with less than a minute
• 3:34
to go in overtime, displaying a technical difficulties
• 3:37
graphic. This marked an all -time blunder for
• 3:40
Prime Video as it presented the NBA play in tournament
• 3:44
for the first time this week. Viewers were shocked
• 3:47
as the feed dropped during a crucial moment of
• 3:50
an incredible contest between the Eastern Conference's
• 3:53
9th and 10th seeds. Before the broadcast returned,
• 3:57
LaMelo Ball made a key shot, giving Charlotte
• 4:00
a five -point lead. Despite the mishap, a phenomenal
• 4:04
finish saved prime, with Miami's Tyler Hero hitting
• 4:08
a crucial three -pointer. In local sports, the
• 4:12
Red Sox are in Minnesota this afternoon trying
• 4:15
to avoid a sweep. After getting blanked 6 -0
• 4:19
yesterday and losing 13 -6, the day before, Boston
• 4:23
needs to salvage something from this trip. Connelly
• 4:27
Early takes the mound against Simeon Woods Richardson.
• 4:31
with first pitch at 140. The Twins have dominated
• 4:35
this series, but there's still time to get right
• 4:37
before heading back to Fenway. Meanwhile, the
• 4:41
Bruins are riding high after a dominant 4 -0
• 4:44
shutout over New Jersey last night at the Garden.
• 4:49
Mark Kastelik scored twice in the first period,
• 4:52
with Victor Arvidson and Morgan Jiki adding one
• 4:56
each. Jeremy Swayman was perfect, stopping all
• 5:00
21 shots for his second shutout of the season.
• 5:04
That clinches the top wildcard spot in the East,
• 5:07
and Boston will face Buffalo in the first round.
• 5:11
Over on the gridiron, Patriots executive VP Elliot
• 5:15
Wolfe laid out the team's draft vision heading
• 5:18
into next week in Pittsburgh. Edge rusher is
• 5:22
the top need after losing Kalevon Chasen in free
• 5:25
agency. Wolf confirmed contact with 20 edge rusher
• 5:30
prospects and said New England is open to trading
• 5:34
up. The Pats have 11 total picks and will select
• 5:38
31st overall. In top news, Amazon's car sales
• 5:45
bet is getting bigger with new brands and more
• 5:47
cities. The e -commerce giant's new car buying
• 5:51
program expands to Jeep, Chevrolet, and other
• 5:54
brands. Now you can buy a brand new Corvette
• 5:57
on Amazon .com. Over the past year and a half,
• 6:02
the e -commerce giant has quietly expanded its
• 6:05
car sales business. What began as an experiment
• 6:08
with Hyundai Motor has recently grown to include
• 6:11
vehicles from Kia, Mazda, Subaru, Chevrolet,
• 6:15
and Jeep. The service called Amazon Autos is
• 6:19
active in over 130 cities, including Los Angeles,
• 6:23
Dallas, and New York. Last year, around $1 trillion
• 6:27
worth of cars were sold by dealerships in the
• 6:30
United States, according to the National Automobile
• 6:33
Dealers Association. The Amazon Autos program
• 6:37
launched at the end of 2024. It allows customers
• 6:41
to browse and purchase a car from nearby participating
• 6:44
dealerships. The aim is to let customers complete
• 6:47
much of the purchase and financing paperwork
• 6:50
from home, cutting down on time. In business
• 6:54
news, Apple and Amazon are teaming up to challenge
• 6:59
Starlink's smartphone ambitions. Amazon is spending
• 7:02
more than $11 billion to buy GlobalStar's satellite
• 7:06
network and take over its deal with Apple. Amazon
• 7:10
has made a deal to buy GlobalStar's low -Earth
• 7:13
orbit satellite network for $11 .6 billion, acquiring
• 7:18
its Spectrum licenses, operations, and assets.
• 7:22
to combine with its upcoming low -Earth orbit
• 7:24
  internet satellite constellation. Apple owned
• 7:28
20 % of GlobalStar, and as part of the deal,
• 7:31
Amazon will support satellite services like Emergency
• 7:34
SOS for iPhones and Apple Watches. The deal is
• 7:39
scheduled to close in 2027, pending regulatory
• 7:42
approval. In crypto movement, Bitcoin is unchanged
• 7:47
  at about $75 ,000. Ethereum is down 1 .5 % to
• 7:53
  about $2 ,000. And XRP is down 0 .5 % to $1 .36.
• 8:01

• 8:38
Hingham, Brookline, and Framingham, just be sure
• 8:42
to tell them Sunny Morning sent you by. And now,
• 8:47
back to the show. Let's talk tech. The artificial
• 8:52
intelligence school bus camera company is blanketing
• 8:55
America in tickets. Bus Patrol claims its technology
• 8:59
helps curb dangerous driving at no cost to cities.
• 9:04
However, public records often tell a different
• 9:07
story. Every weekday morning, students step onto
• 9:10
big yellow buses in Silver Spring, Maryland.
• 9:14
These buses collect valuable data when they extend
• 9:17
their stop signs and flash their red lights.
• 9:20
Cameras record vehicles that fail to stop, violating
• 9:24
state law. If local police review the footage
• 9:27
and find a violation, the driver receives a $250
• 9:32
ticket in the mail. And in entertainment news,
• 9:38
film shoots are down in the United States this
• 9:41
year. except in New Jersey. So far, California,
• 9:46
New York, and Georgia have declined in filming
• 9:49
counts, while the Garden State saw gains. Across
• 9:53
the United States, the volume of movie and television
• 9:55
on location production filming slowed in the
• 9:58
first quarter of this year, with New Jersey marking
• 10:01
an exception. The Garden State made gains in
• 10:05
both filming count, which is up 45 % year over
• 10:08
year, as well as production spend. which is up
• 10:11
37%. The tracking firm attributes New Jersey's
• 10:16
gains to a surge in episodic activity. Well,
• 10:20
all righty, folks. It's time for the quote of
• 10:23
the day. And today, our quote comes from the
• 10:27
American author and motivational speaker, Zig
• 10:30
Ziglar. And he said, Success means doing the
• 10:35
best we can with what we have. Success is the
• 10:38
doing, not the getting, in the trying. not the
• 10:41
triumph. Success is a personal standard, reaching
• 10:45
for the highest that is in us, becoming all that
• 10:47
we can be. And that's a wrap for this morning.
• 10:52
