Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville jackwars fans, welcome in to Dove All Daily, presented by Genjack.com and fueled by Brass Tax Coffee.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: It is Friday, September 11th May.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: We never forget what happened 25 years ago.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'll never forget where I was and the impact that had on me and I don't think anybody should.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: So, Jacks, Parker Washington.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we're talking about right now.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: Adam Shefter,
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: biggest, one of the biggest reporters in the NFL by far, ESPN.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: He was talking in Pat McFee and a lot of people don't love Pat right now, but either way they were talking about it on his show, you know, potential extensions that were coming down the pike and talked, he was talking about Samuel Porter and talked about how the lions have a Pensity to
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: have negotiations go into the season and get deals done during the season and then he said he does expect contracts to get done before Sunday before most teams kick off their 20 26 regular season and he mentioned Parker Washington he said he straight up I expect contracts to get done before Sunday Parker Washington.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's about as clear as day that it seems like Adam Shefter, who is one of the most plugged in reporters out there, believes Parker Washington's contract will be done before the Jaguar's kick off their regular season.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: And that would not come as a surprise.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: It wouldn't be shocking to me anything like that.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, last week, he talked about how there's positive talk on both sides.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: They want Parker here and they were comfortable taking it into the season.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: They've shown that they are also an organization willing to negotiate during the season.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that I mentioned it on here, that might have been a little bit of negotiation tactic, like let's get this deal done, you know, if you want to get it done soon, we're comfortable with going into the season with it, are you, like, to Parker Washington's camp.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that's just kind of the nature of some negotiations, but it's an interesting deal with Parker, because
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: Because of a number of reasons, one of which is you have this player in Parker Washington who had an incredible final nine games of the 2026 season.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: He was on pace for over 1,200 yards, 8 touchdowns, tons of catches, making people miss in space.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: You also have the fact that he's an elite punt returner, a three-level threat on the offensive side of the ball, like you can get him the ball in the screen game, you can get him the ball short on crossing routes, on you know, out routes.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: Slants, you can get him the ball over the middle of the field at the next level, unlike digs, you can do deepovers, you can throw the football up to him, he is a great contested catch player, there are all these different elements to Parker Washington's game that make him extremely valuable for the Jaguars.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: But then you have that married with the fact that
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: This is a guy who has never had the production to warrant a top level wide receiver contract.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: Part of that is because he was just a late round pick and 2023, six round pick.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: Which I've always thought he should have been a third round pick.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: He was a six round pick.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't get to participate in the draft process that year.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: Barry down the depth chart a little bit.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the jackwares have other big name receivers in and out of here since then.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously Brian Thomas Jr. comes in as a first round pick.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: They trade for Jacobi.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot, right?
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: They also brought in the homie Brown last year.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like that was a distant memory, doesn't it?
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, they did that last year too.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: But Parker Washington last year was his biggest year in the league his third year, and it was basically half a season of big production.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: So, you don't have this production profile that matches what other wide receivers have that are getting paid big time money.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: So that, I feel like, has been where the issue is between the Jaguars and Parker Washington's campaign.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: It might not be an issue, just like, where do you find the right meeting point on this contract?
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: That, I think, has really been the big question.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: Where do you meet in the middle?
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: How do you meet in the middle with this one?
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: I am of the mindset that Parker Washington needs to be in Jacksonville, should be in Jacksonville.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: He is first in the building literally.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: Hardest working.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's a lot of really hard workers on this team, but a lot of people talk about Parker Washington within that building as like maybe the hardest working player out there.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: You also have, you know, Jacobi Myers, they signed during the season last year to a three year $20 million per year extension.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: Three years, 60 million total, which that's not like prohibitive of the Jaguar signing another receiver, but it is like, Jacobi Myers has all this production throughout his career.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: are you going to give him more than the captain, more than the veteran, which I think just based on the market circumstances they absolutely need to give him more.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: The way things have transpired, because not only did he have the nine weeks in the season last year, and the playoffs, then he had
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: a great off-season, a great training camp, and now is poised and looks like he's going to be your wide receiver one.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: The receiver that receives by far the most targets on this team, because again, he can be utilized in so many different ways.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: In 12 personnel, outside, and 11 personnel, which will be the Jaguar's biggest personnel package, or most commonly utilized personnel package.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: Um, over the course of the season, you put them in the slot most of the time and you just hunt matchups and you can move them around to formation, all these things.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and he's just so locked in.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, it's one of those things where, how do you, how do you figure this one out?
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they will.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: And Adam Shepter thinks they will.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: I thought they would get it done before training camp started.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: I just thought that
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: you know, it would be beneficial for the jag wars to get it done before training camp started, but I don't think they're that worried about the pinning pinching part of it and if they have to continue into the season, they will.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's much more of a risk for Parker Washington to go into the season without the contract because he's just not a player as a six-round pick who's earned a whole lot so far.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, relatively speaking to most other NFL players,
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: and getting a deal done would be huge for him.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: Locking it in would be huge for him.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm locking in the Jaguars against the Browns.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: 9.5th of it's over at my book.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: He football is back, and my book he's website is easy to use on desktop or mobile.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: They've got all the action you could ever want.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: I've also personally locked in the Jaguars to make the playoffs.

- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: So where can the Parker Washington contract fall?
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: There have been a couple dominoes that I think potentially help figure out where Parker
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: in the contract negotiations, like where this deal should come in.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you look at the top of the receiver market.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's, we're not even in that conversation.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: Zay Flowers was an interesting one.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: He got 35,000 per year or 35,000.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's early folks, 35 million per year.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: But Zay Flowers is a receiver who has been incredibly productive throughout his NFL career so far.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: Safeflowers has three consecutive 1,000 yard seasons.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: Parker Washington does not have one.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: And while you can make the argument that Parker Washington might be just as good if not better than safeflowers, also younger Parker Washington's only 24.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: Same draft class.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: Same draft class.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: Safeflowers are going to turn 26 today.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: Shout out to safeflowers.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Happy birthday.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: So he's 26, Parker is still 24 and he doesn't turn 25 until March, March 21st.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: My anniversary.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: Shout out.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's a much sting day here.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's really funny.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: So he's got youth on his side as well.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: But again, Parker Washington, the most he's done in a year is 954 yards.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: And the 954 number from last year, that's including the playoff.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: So if you just look at the regular season, 847.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: So it's difficult.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: You can't be like, you know, he should be in the Z flowers range.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: You can't, you can't put it there.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: So then you go down the list and you're looking at Justin Jefferson, obviously Jefferson needs a new contract.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: See the lamb needs a new contract.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: DK Metcalf.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Garrett Wilson is at 32-5.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: AJ Brown is at 32.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of days at 31.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: All of these guys are more proven.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm on Rossing Brown.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: Nico Collins, Terry McCleuron, T. Higgins, Alec Pearce, J. Lamwater, D. J. Moore, George Pickins, Jamison Williams, okay, so now we're starting to be in a range that maybe you could start talking about with a Jamison Williams who is at 26.6.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: But the two contracts that I think are really interesting are Michael Wilson at 25, who just got his contract.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: from the Cardinals last week and Christian Watson who got his contract earlier in the offseason at 23.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: So Michael Wilson, that's one that I think you could look at as comparable, a player that should have comparable money.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: I know Michael Wilson put up a little bit bigger numbers last year, but
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: a lot of garbage time, a lot of, you know, just, I mean, he had 18 targets against the 49ers.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: He had 14 targets against the Jaguar last year.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: He had some insane games when it came to the amount of times he was targeted in an individual game.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: And so he ended up with like a thousand yards.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: And he's a good player.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Parker Washington's a good player.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, Wilson to his credit,
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: Being more involved in the offense during 2023 and 2024, he had more receiving odds those years than Parker Washington.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: But as far as impact, I think you could look at these two guys and they're not the same brand of receiver, they're not the same style of play, but I think you could make a fair comparison with Parker and Michael Wilson.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: I would rather have Parker, I am biased, but then you also have Christian Watson.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: And Christian Watson might make even more sense.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: Because there's definitely some similarities, some parallels in their career profiles from a production standpoint.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: Christian Watson has never a Clip 600 yards.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: And it never a Clip 620 yards in a season.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: And Parker Washington is also a player who hasn't clips a thousand yards, but part of that is due to injury for Christian Watson, right?
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: and you could make the argument well, part of that for Parker Washington is due to just, the Jaguar is not putting them on the field.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not very smart coaching, right?
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that both of these guys are viewed as their team's wide receiver won, but neither of them has had the full year of production that indicates a massive deal.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: Christian Watson got 23 million.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: Look, I'd be fine with paying Parker more than Michael Wilson.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be fine with writing that James and Williams range for what he has shown me to the Jaguar's feel comfortable there.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really not sure, but I do think that it will be somewhere in between Christian Watson and George Pickins, if I had to guess.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: And George Pickins is at 27.3 million, basically.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: Christian Watson is at 23 million.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think it should be somewhere in that range.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, George Pickins wants a new deal, right?
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's not the market value of a George Pickens, but I think that in that range does make sense for Parker Washington.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: And we're gonna find out, again, Adam Shepter talked about it.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: I guess yesterday, he thinks Parker Washington's deal is getting done before kickoff on Sunday.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: I hope that deal comes through.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: I hope it comes through today tomorrow.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna see real quick.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_00]: Not too much time now until the Jaguars take the field against the Browns on Sunday for their season opener at the bank.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: Cannot wait for it.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: Can't wait to see about the Parker Washington deal whenever that does come through.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: I do expect it to happen even if it doesn't happen before the start of the regular season.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think Parker Washington will be in Jacksonville for a very long time.
