Today, we're going somewhere nobody loves but everyone needs: the dentist. Luna: Ohh, the dentist. But in German? Okay, I'm in. Lucas: Let's start with the most common complaint. Ich habe Zahnschmerzen. I have a toothache. Luna: Ich habe Zahnschmerzen. Lucas: Perfect. Now if you need to go to the dentist, you say: Ich muss zum Zahnarzt. Luna: Ich muss zum Zahnarzt. That's useful because I have a toothache, so I need to go. Lucas: Exactly. Once you're at the dentist, they might say: Öffnen Sie den Mund, bitte. Open your mouth, please. Luna: Öffnen Sie den Mund, bitte. That sounds formal. Lucas: Right, it's the polite form. They'll also ask: Tut es weh? Does it hurt? Luna: Tut es weh? And if it does hurt, I say: Ja, es tut weh. Lucas: Yes, exactly. Let's practice a little scene. You have a toothache and go to the dentist. Luna: Okay, I'll start. Ich habe Zahnschmerzen. Ich muss zum Zahnarzt. Lucas: Gut. Then the dentist says: Öffnen Sie den Mund, bitte. Luna: Okay, I open my mouth... Then they say: Tut es weh? I say: Ja, es tut weh. Lucas: Perfect! You handled it like a pro. Let's repeat those phrases one more time. Luna: Sure. Ich habe Zahnschmerzen. Ich muss zum Zahnarzt. Öffnen Sie den Mund, bitte. Tut es weh? Ja, es tut weh. Lucas: Wonderful.
