- 0:00Speaker 1: So last week I told a story about going to Utah.
- 0:06Speaker 1: It's a brewery in Ogden, delicious. Not only do they
- 0:11Speaker 1: have good food, but superior bathroom facilities for the ladies.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I took a picture of it. I don't think that
- 0:22Speaker 1: Dawson has that one handy probably. But now inside the
- 0:26Speaker 1: women's bathroom, they had a shelf with a little sign
- 0:32Speaker 1: that said, please only take what you need, and this
- 0:35Speaker 1: large assortment of things for women. There was lotion, There
- 0:40Speaker 1: were tampons and pads because not everybody likes a tampon.
- 0:45Speaker 1: There were hair ties. It was just I was very impressed,
- 0:50Speaker 1: but curious about the the amenities in the men's room.
- 0:55Speaker 2: You the inside of the men's rum No, no, but I.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Put I put field reporter Sketchy Blake on the case.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Okay, and here is his report.
- 1:06Speaker 1: All right, Lords of Morning Radio, Sketchy Blake of Ogden,
- 1:10Speaker 1: here embedded deep behind enemy lines known as my own city,
- 1:15Speaker 1: on assignment for what is shaping up to be the
- 1:16Speaker 1: most importive, important investigative journalism of our time. Restroom equity
- 1:22Speaker 1: in Northern Utah, Okay. Following Gina's glowing report on the
- 1:26Speaker 1: luxurious spot experience, that was the women's restroom at Utah Brewery,
- 1:31Speaker 1: complete with Tampon's hair Ties, artisanal lotion, and what I
- 1:35Speaker 1: can only assume is the faint smell of eucalyptus. I
- 1:38Speaker 1: knew I had to act after a twelve hour day
- 1:41Speaker 1: of solving telecom problems. No one understands. Yes, the menu
- 1:45Speaker 1: options have changed. I turned to math teacher Kim, my wife,
- 1:49Speaker 1: truth teller and unwilling accomplice, and proposed a midweek bathroom stakeout.
- 1:55Speaker 1: She rolled her eyes so hard I swear I heard
- 1:57Speaker 1: vertebrae crack, but promised to buy her a drink.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Just like that.
- 2:00Speaker 1: She was in. We boarded the heavily armored Subaru Sulta,
- 2:05Speaker 1: fully charged emotionally and literally, and ventured into the sketchiest
- 2:09Speaker 1: quadron of Ogden. We parked in the haunted skeleton of
- 2:12Speaker 1: the old Ogden City Mall garage, gripped our tasers standard
- 2:17Speaker 1: Ogden etiquette, and approached Utah, only to find the doors
- 2:21Speaker 1: locked for a private event. I tried everything. I flashed
- 2:23Speaker 1: my press credentials, channeling Bill Allread's righteous fury and booming,
- 2:27Speaker 1: don't you know who I am?
- 2:29Speaker 2: I need to use your bathroom?
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I was lovingly shown the exit. But the mission
- 2:34Speaker 1: was not over, not on my watch. The next day
- 2:36Speaker 1: we returned, no crowd, no confrontation, just two citizens chasing
- 2:40Speaker 1: the dream of equal access to lotion. A cheerful hostess
- 2:44Speaker 1: seated us. I ordered a high point cider from our
- 2:47Speaker 1: server named Kelton, and then it was time. I rose
- 2:51Speaker 1: from the table. I walked past the brewing tanks, past
- 2:54Speaker 1: the tables, into the sacred vestibule of male hygiene. My
- 2:57Speaker 1: hands trembled with anticipation.
- 2:59Speaker 2: I opened the door.
- 3:00Speaker 1: What did I find? A bathroom? Just a bathroom, No
- 3:07Speaker 1: attendant offering gum and unsolicited life advice, No little basket
- 3:12Speaker 1: of Elsha seventeen seventy six sample stolen from a truck stop,
- 3:16Speaker 1: no mustache wax, just a toilet, a urinal, and a
- 3:21Speaker 1: baby changing station. Honestly, the disappointment hit harder than the
- 3:27Speaker 1: waft of dog food plant during a moist summer night.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Let me be clear, I don't need a fancy lotion.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I don't need individually wrapped beard combs or complimentary beef
- 3:37Speaker 1: jerky wipes. But if the women's room gets a full
- 3:40Speaker 1: sapphora aisle, the men's room should at least come with
- 3:42Speaker 1: a clean X or something in conclusion, No equity, no lotion.
- 3:48Speaker 2: No, do we have a picture of the bathroom.
- 3:50Speaker 3: We have a picture of now of Missusketchy Blake here,
- 3:53Speaker 3: But we didn't get a picture of the bathroom.
- 3:55Speaker 1: He did not, But he included the Utah rush droom
- 4:00Speaker 1: disparity index. He made a chart, Okay, yeah, visually exposing
- 4:05Speaker 1: the shocking amenity gap between the women's and the men's restroom.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Oh, this is good data. Yeah.
- 4:10Speaker 1: So it's a graph showing uh.
- 4:14Speaker 2: X ninety six dot com slash live.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Yeah. The amenity categories are tampons and pads, hair ties, lotion, decor, privacy,
- 4:23Speaker 1: baby changing, and overall ambio. Wow.
- 4:29Speaker 4: He broke out the pivot tables and Excel for this. Yeah,
- 4:31Speaker 4: I'm really impressed.
- 4:33Speaker 1: It's so I guess the fact that there's baby changing
- 4:37Speaker 1: station in the men's room, that's a good thing. But
- 4:40Speaker 1: I would implore Utah, first of all, congratulations on the
- 4:45Speaker 1: great amenities in the women's room. I think you need
- 4:48Speaker 1: to add some amenities to the men's room.
- 4:51Speaker 4: We're calling you out, Utah, We're calling you out. Geenu
- 4:56Speaker 4: Barberry painted a lovely mental picture and pub is a
- 5:00Speaker 4: literal photo of the bathroom. And uh yeah, imagine planning
- 5:04Speaker 4: your entire night out for a bathroom experience. Okay, something
- 5:08Speaker 4: to be disappointed.
- 5:09Speaker 3: So the baby changing thing, I imagine a liberal politician
- 5:13Speaker 3: was behind that.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Why would a men's room have a baby change?
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yeah, because men don't do that, right.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Uh Now, I would say at least you should at
- 5:23Speaker 3: least have kleenexes there, Sure, and I would I would
- 5:27Speaker 3: lobby for lotion, sure, because moisturizing is very important.
- 5:31Speaker 1: And you wash your hands and that can be drying.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Even I would even say hair ties. There are men
- 5:38Speaker 1: with long hair that it's it's kind of taste be
- 5:41Speaker 1: able to when you're eating. To get it out of
- 5:44Speaker 1: the way.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, maybe a stack of cigars.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I want to throw whiskey on the rocks.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Sure, Sketchy Blake for accepting this assignment and completing it
- 5:56Speaker 1: to to our satisfaction. I appreciate the effort.
- 6:00Speaker 3: All right.
- 6:00Speaker 4: And if you have photos of bathrooms, yeah.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I mean, make sure nobody else is in there. But
- 6:08Speaker 1: I am looking at im.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Flushed before you take the picture.
- 6:13Speaker 3: But I don't encourage bathroom photos, but I am curious
- 6:17Speaker 3: what you.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Guys are doing. I am.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I'm curious if, if if anyone knows of a men's
- 6:23Speaker 1: room that is equally outfitted.
- 6:25Speaker 2: It's not the one here at our workplace. Absolutely not
