- 2:24Speaker 3: back from an epic Kentucky Bourbon Florida Lee. Man. They
- 2:29Speaker 3: love the Florida Lee up there and horse trip. So
- 2:36Speaker 3: we were there Thursday through Sunday and it was an amazing,
- 2:41Speaker 3: amazing trip. Got some good weather, humidity wasn't near as
- 2:47Speaker 3: bad as you can imagine, and so that was a
- 2:51Speaker 3: nice course. Yesterday here I fly in, I'm like, this
- 2:54Speaker 3: is fabulous whinning and I got out on the boat,
- 2:58Speaker 3: took a few laps and it felt great yesterday. I
- 3:03Speaker 3: know that's all going away today, but man, that was nice,
- 3:06Speaker 3: nice little reprieve for all of us. But the trip
- 3:09Speaker 3: to Louisville and Heaven Hill slash Heaven Hill is the
- 3:14Speaker 3: one that produces Elijah Craig and among other fantastic bourbons
- 3:21Speaker 3: Henry McKenna and larceny and Evan Williams. We had some
- 3:24Speaker 3: Evan Williams twelve year that's only sold in Japan. It
- 3:30Speaker 3: was fabulous. Holy moly, it was really really good bourbon.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Now that I think about, it's a red label. And
- 3:39Speaker 3: the Japanese were the ones that carried I mean they
- 3:43Speaker 3: were broke, but the Japanese were the ones that carried
- 3:47Speaker 3: the bourbon industry in the seventies, eighties and nineties because
- 3:50Speaker 3: when vodka and Scotch hit in the seventies, people pivoted
- 3:56Speaker 3: and pretty you know, fascinating story of how the Japanese
- 4:05Speaker 3: tasted bourbon and they were like, oh no, this is fantastic,
- 4:08Speaker 3: and then it became highly coveted over in Japan and
- 4:14Speaker 3: just kept them barely afloat to where they could, you know,
- 4:20Speaker 3: experience the about twenty year run here of the bourbon boom.
- 4:26Speaker 3: I know it's plateaued for some not for Elijah Craig,
- 4:30Speaker 3: which is great, but I mean again, you're not going
- 4:34Speaker 3: to do those kind of crazy numbers forever and ever.
- 4:37Speaker 3: But you know, if you go to you know, all
- 4:44Speaker 3: of our states have different hooks as far as tourism,
- 4:47Speaker 3: hooks man. They've done a great job. They have done
- 4:51Speaker 3: an amazing job. I mean they went all in bourbon
- 4:54Speaker 3: and horses. But there's people everywhere in Louisville and laid
- 5:00Speaker 3: July early August busney bop, you know, going in and
- 5:05Speaker 3: around distilleries. But we had a great time. It tastes
- 5:10Speaker 3: Italian Kitchen and their their new concept Heritage chop House,
- 5:15Speaker 3: which will be rolled out here in a couple of months.
- 5:19Speaker 3: They're gonna have barrel picks from Elijah Cragg, heaven Hill
- 5:24Speaker 3: Bottled in Bond and many many others. So it was
- 5:27Speaker 3: it was a good trip. I'll I'll talk about it
- 5:30Speaker 3: well for weeks and months. I'll incorporate it at times.
- 5:33Speaker 3: But but a good bit this week, good group, good food,
- 5:37Speaker 3: Oh my god. You know what's crazy is usually when
- 5:42Speaker 3: you think about a distillery having a bar and restaurant,
- 5:45Speaker 3: you're like, maybe it'll be solid heaven Hill again. Elijah
- 5:52Speaker 3: Cragg has this beautiful restaurant on the second floor up there,
- 5:57Speaker 3: whatever you want to call it, welcome center where they
- 6:00Speaker 3: have the merch shop and where you go to get
- 6:02Speaker 3: with your hosts. Two for he or she to take
- 6:06Speaker 3: you out to a rick house to do a tasty
- 6:09Speaker 3: but if you're in, if you're in the lunchtime window,
- 6:13Speaker 3: you may want to stay. But by the way, any
- 6:15Speaker 3: of you can have lunch there. If you're in that
- 6:19Speaker 3: area and you're doing a tour, you can have lunch there. Well.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I said this before I left, and I wanted to
- 6:27Speaker 3: see what happened when we had lunch there again on Friday.
- 6:31Speaker 3: The food was fabulous. I mean the bar is beautiful.
- 6:35Speaker 3: I have some pictures I've been throwing up on Facebook,
- 6:38Speaker 3: but the bar and restaurants great At Heaven Hill. Food
- 6:44Speaker 3: was great, whether you want elevated sandwiches or they had
- 6:49Speaker 3: the smash burger, great looking salads. Their onion rings were amazing,
- 6:56Speaker 3: good lord, So it was good. It was a good trimp.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I will say this there not talking football, which is funny.
- 7:02Speaker 3: I mean, there was some football discussion at different times
- 7:06Speaker 3: at the table, but like that's that's still not that
- 7:09Speaker 3: just doesn't that doesn't drive it up there?
- 7:13Speaker 1: Do?
- 7:13Speaker 3: I think they get into Louisville and Kentucky football a
- 7:16Speaker 3: little bit depending on time and place. And obviously Brahm
- 7:18Speaker 3: is is the program in that state right now, with
- 7:22Speaker 3: you know Stoops not doing well on the way out
- 7:25Speaker 3: and Kentucky has a new coach, but are one of
- 7:29Speaker 3: the couples that was with us. He's a lot he's
- 7:32Speaker 3: been a long time, had football coach instead of Kentucky,
- 7:36Speaker 3: but he moved into administration, so and he's had a
- 7:39Speaker 3: lot of success. And his wife's a teacher and they
- 7:43Speaker 3: they know some of the people that were that I
- 7:46Speaker 3: was with in the group, and uh, as we were
- 7:49Speaker 3: talking about it, he was like, look, we like it
- 7:52Speaker 3: up here, y'all love it. He said, we don't have
- 7:56Speaker 3: the same athletes. He said, Now, we've got some good
- 7:58Speaker 3: athletes here and there, and they have gotten much much
- 8:01Speaker 3: better in the last fifteen years. But he said, we
- 8:05Speaker 3: don't have football, basketball, baseball, softball, just power four G
- 8:10Speaker 3: five athletes left and right. Even though they're Kentucky and
- 8:14Speaker 3: Louisville's a major metropolitan I mean, it's a pretty nice
- 8:18Speaker 3: metropolitan area. And Lexington's had a lot of growth and
- 8:21Speaker 3: up there around where you leave Kentucky and going to Cincinnati,
- 8:25Speaker 3: that's like our Desota County. You know, it's a it's
- 8:29Speaker 3: a lot. It's a heavy, heavily populated area for that state.
- 8:34Speaker 3: And Bowling Green's done well too. Hey, Jackson. You asked
- 8:37Speaker 3: me about my Uber It's funny you asked me about
- 8:40Speaker 3: my Uber drive, like my longest one. Well, evidently I
- 8:45Speaker 3: wasn't paying attention and I was supposed to fly into Louisville,
- 8:48Speaker 3: and I flew into Lexington, So it took me an
- 8:51Speaker 3: hour and fifteen hour ten So it's about twenty five
- 8:59Speaker 3: minutes long longer than flying into Louisville to get to Elizabethtown,
- 9:04Speaker 3: which is where we stayed Thursday night. We stayed in
- 9:06Speaker 3: Louisville Friday and Saturday at the Omni, which is really nice.
- 9:09Speaker 3: And I'm glad somebody picked up that tab because that's
- 9:14Speaker 3: a nice hotel. I don't know how much it costs,
- 9:16Speaker 3: but that's a really nice hotel in Louisville, Dommy. I mean,
- 9:20Speaker 3: I stayed at the Marriott last year and it was great,
- 9:23Speaker 3: more than good enough, but damn, the Omni's fine. But yeah,
- 9:28Speaker 3: so I took an hour and fifteen minute Uber ride
- 9:31Speaker 3: from Lexington to Elizabethtown.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Personal record, I think, so yeah, all right, yeah like that.
- 9:41Speaker 3: You see, you just wanted to set a record for
- 9:42Speaker 3: the Yeah, I didn't know that I wanted to do that,
- 9:48Speaker 3: and evidently I did. That's a long uber ride. Heaven Hill,
- 9:53Speaker 3: Elijah Craig Bourbon Country was great. We hit I usually
- 9:56Speaker 3: don't do this. We hit several other distill glories too.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I'll talk about back in a second. What's on what
- 10:12Speaker 3: the big boy.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Guys? I don't have time for that speculation.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Well, good morning to you. We are the Out of
- 10:30Speaker 3: Bounds Show esp N one oh five nine the Zone.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I'm just to say that every time. So I'm your host,
- 10:36Speaker 3: bo Bounds straight funk with me. I'm back from my
- 10:43Speaker 3: oh Bourbon, Florida, Lee and horses. Yep, that's what you
- 10:47Speaker 3: see up there. Uh, Kentucky's great. It's just uh those
- 10:54Speaker 3: people warm my heart. Met some new people already have
- 10:57Speaker 3: relationships up there. Fantastic. That's what it's all about. Three
- 11:03Speaker 3: hour dinners every night, which I love. And we had
- 11:11Speaker 3: a crew. Oh my gosh, we had a crew. It
- 11:14Speaker 3: was fun, a ton of fun. We'll let you know
- 11:18Speaker 3: when the Elijah Craig Barrel Picks hit Taste Italian Kitchen
- 11:21Speaker 3: and Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond and all the other
- 11:24Speaker 3: stuff going on. We went to Chicken cock Old Forrester
- 11:30Speaker 3: Evan Williams, The Rabbit Hole and Blade and Bow I
- 11:35Speaker 3: may have missed one. I need to go back and
- 11:37Speaker 3: look through my notes. That's more than I've ever been to.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Usually I just go to whoever i'm partnered with, which,
- 11:44Speaker 3: as y'all know, Elijah Craig is the official bourbon of
- 11:47Speaker 3: the Out of Bounds Show, and we're really proud to
- 11:50Speaker 3: have them because of well quality and their history and
- 11:59Speaker 3: all the awards they've one and so on. But uh,
- 12:03Speaker 3: great time. The lady who gave us the uh that
- 12:08Speaker 3: that that hosted us for the private barrel pick in
- 12:12Speaker 3: one of the rick houses at Heaven Hill. Elijah Craig, Sylvia.
- 12:19Speaker 3: She's sweet. She she did the tour last year, hosted
- 12:22Speaker 3: us last year. She's University of Louisville. Her dad played
- 12:29Speaker 3: football at Louisville, which was cool. No basketball, damn it basketball.
- 12:37Speaker 3: But it was before Didny Crumb because that was the
- 12:41Speaker 3: first question I asked her last year.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Uh.
- 12:45Speaker 3: I was like, I was trying to kind of read
- 12:46Speaker 3: what the timeline would have been. She was like, no,
- 12:48Speaker 3: he was a little before Crumb and who won three
- 12:52Speaker 3: national titles at Louisville. But uh, what they have done,
- 12:58Speaker 3: you know what's interesting. As I started when they're twelve
- 13:00Speaker 3: years ago, and I don't know what trip, if this
- 13:03Speaker 3: was fifteen or sixteen, but they the distilleries are locate
- 13:13Speaker 3: most of them are located outside of Louisville and Lexington
- 13:17Speaker 3: in Bourbon Country.
- 13:19Speaker 4: And they.
- 13:23Speaker 3: What's happening is they're they're moving back in town. And
- 13:27Speaker 3: what I mean by that they still have to have
- 13:29Speaker 3: their you know, several hundred acres and rick houses and
- 13:32Speaker 3: all that outside of Louisville or Lexington, but they are
- 13:38Speaker 3: somebody figured out I don't know which one it was. First,
- 13:42Speaker 3: may have been Old Forrester, but I'm not sure that
- 13:46Speaker 3: because a lot of them already owned property downtown from
- 13:49Speaker 3: one hundred and fifty years ago. You'll see where I'm
- 13:51Speaker 3: going here, Okay, And they have decided to make their
- 13:58Speaker 3: their Louisville their day. They call it the Bourbon District. Right,
- 14:01Speaker 3: I'll figure this right down there by the Young Center
- 14:04Speaker 3: and where Louisville Cardinals Louisville Cardinal play basketball. But what
- 14:10Speaker 3: they've done is they're like, hey, we're gonna bring people
- 14:12Speaker 3: here more rather than having to now. Look, both both
- 14:16Speaker 3: experiences are amazing, but what I see shifting is they're like, hey,
- 14:21Speaker 3: we're going to hang a shingle On in the Bourbon District.
- 14:25Speaker 3: We have a pretty big presence here where we can
- 14:28Speaker 3: still make some I mean very little compared to what
- 14:31Speaker 3: they do out on their several hundred acre of states
- 14:33Speaker 3: and distilleries. You'll see where I'm going. But people want
- 14:37Speaker 3: to be in that you know, metropolitan area so that
- 14:40Speaker 3: they can go to several and not have to drive.
- 14:43Speaker 3: You know, you drive out of Louisville and you get
- 14:46Speaker 3: to distillery, but then you do one, you may have
- 14:49Speaker 3: to drive another thirty minutes to go do two. So
- 14:53Speaker 3: after we started out in Elijah Craig Heavin Hill out
- 14:56Speaker 3: at the Home Distillery, you know, forty five minutes outside
- 15:00Speaker 3: to Louisville, all of our other this is crazy. This
- 15:03Speaker 3: has not happened to me. All the other tastings that
- 15:06Speaker 3: we did were in Louisville at what I call their
- 15:11Speaker 3: you know, urban location or whatever you want to say,
- 15:15Speaker 3: which honestly was kind of cool because I've done the
- 15:19Speaker 3: whole you know, swinging around Louisville and swinging around Lexington,
- 15:23Speaker 3: all the distilleries. So I think that's what's happening. They're like, Okay,
- 15:27Speaker 3: they're all coming here, they're in the town, they want
- 15:30Speaker 3: to eat and drink around here. They can walk. You
- 15:33Speaker 3: can go from Evan Williams to Old Forrester to chickencock
- 15:40Speaker 3: or whatever you want to do. So I bought. I
- 15:46Speaker 3: usually don't splurge. They had this super highly allocated bottle
- 15:53Speaker 3: of chicken cock, and Craig william and I all got about.
- 15:58Speaker 3: They may have gotten more, but I got a bottle
- 16:02Speaker 3: and there was only like, I don't remember what they said,
- 16:05Speaker 3: just a few left for sale that you can't find
- 16:08Speaker 3: them in Winding Spirit stores they pick up that. But anyway,
- 16:13Speaker 3: it was great. How you doing do you? I know,
- 16:17Speaker 3: you've got a lot to talk about. Uh, I'm good.
- 16:21Speaker 3: What about lock Ward filming?
- 16:23Speaker 1: You?
- 16:24Speaker 3: Yeah? What about Lockward videoing? You cleaning up in front
- 16:31Speaker 3: of your house? And Jack? So, so what tell me
- 16:34Speaker 3: how this happened? Lock pulled up?
- 16:36Speaker 4: Okay, well actually we were on the phone talking about something.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Uh okay, no way, lock on the phone logistics for
- 16:44Speaker 4: the uh for Kickball of course? Yeah, yeah, I got
- 16:48Speaker 4: that hammered out. It's a good thing.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Uh.
- 16:51Speaker 4: So you know I was, I was, you know, thanking
- 16:53Speaker 4: him and telling him I was appreciative, and he told
- 16:55Speaker 4: me he'd be appreciative. If I, you know, clean your
- 16:58Speaker 4: stuff up, clean the curves up. Yeah. So I told him,
- 17:01Speaker 4: you know, I get out there. I gotta do that.
- 17:03Speaker 4: I'll fix the truck. Give HI about twenty thirty minutes.
- 17:05Speaker 4: He said, all right, well, I'll be there about fifteen.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Then he pulled up and it came knocking. How long
- 17:11Speaker 4: did you clean up out there? No, we're probably out
- 17:14Speaker 4: there like twenty minutes.
- 17:15Speaker 3: It wasn't long. I didn't think so. And then you
- 17:17Speaker 3: got sick just from doing that large of the artwork.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Your immune system, good lord, it is more fragile than
- 17:26Speaker 3: a one hundred year old antique.
- 17:28Speaker 4: We're back twenty four hours of uh.
- 17:31Speaker 3: I thought it was funny, and then I put together
- 17:35Speaker 3: the timeline. Locke sends me the video of you cleaning
- 17:38Speaker 3: up in front of your house. Then you and I
- 17:41Speaker 3: are texting, and you're like, I'm sick. Oh, I was it?
- 17:44Speaker 3: I mean, that was it? I mean? And so it
- 17:48Speaker 3: doesn't take much about one o two. I mean, when
- 17:50Speaker 3: you're on sugary cereal, I mean, if if we cut
- 17:57Speaker 3: you open, it would be nothing but seed oils and
- 18:00Speaker 3: fake sugar. Yeah.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Probably just pour some milk at me and then you
- 18:02Speaker 4: can have the cereal. Oh yeah, that serious what snapped
- 18:06Speaker 4: me back. I'm gonna be honest.
- 18:08Speaker 3: I was in a hotel lobby the last couple of
- 18:11Speaker 3: three mornings, and I never thought about eating. Come on, Nope,
- 18:16Speaker 3: I didn't. That's what brought me back. Of course. I
- 18:18Speaker 3: also if i'd have thought about it, I'd have thought,
- 18:21Speaker 3: do I really want to have a bowl of cereal
- 18:22Speaker 3: before you go drink bourbon?
- 18:24Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 18:24Speaker 3: No, No, That's why I got a little scrambled eggs.
- 18:27Speaker 3: There's a couple of pieces of bacon. Probably good call. Yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 3: because we were starting tours at ten am. It's so
- 18:34Speaker 3: funny drinking bourbon at ten thirty in the morning and
- 18:38Speaker 3: it's totally normal. Yeah, I mean, you know you can
- 18:41Speaker 3: get shunned around here for that, right, Yeah. But up there,
- 18:44Speaker 3: it's just a Tuesday or a Wednesday or a Thursday
- 18:49Speaker 3: or today. I mean, they'll have I don't know how
- 18:51Speaker 3: many people in the state of Kentucky are about to
- 18:55Speaker 3: what's eight thirty there? Okay, so in an hour and
- 18:58Speaker 3: a half they'll start bourbon tours all around that state.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Hear that crazy non stop every day. It's pretty awesome.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Dang all right, it's National Watermelon Day. I love Tito's
- 19:12Speaker 3: and watermelon. Good morning, Welcome into the Out of Bounds Show.
- 19:15Speaker 3: The text line is six zho one eight eight five
- 19:19Speaker 3: three seven seven six. Let's get a roll call. Who's
- 19:22Speaker 3: with us? And are you ready for Drew Brees to
- 19:25Speaker 3: go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend?
- 19:52Speaker 4: Oh look at that.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Every single one of those is just coated perfectly. It
- 19:58Speaker 3: looks so fresh. Wow, and good morning. We're off here
- 20:05Speaker 3: we go. Football season is here. It may not be
- 20:10Speaker 3: in Kentucky, but it is here in Kentucky. It's bourbon, Florida,
- 20:15Speaker 3: lee and horses and a good time. We are the
- 20:19Speaker 3: Out of Bounds Show, ESPN one oh five nine, The Zone.
- 20:25Speaker 3: ESPN one oh five nine, The Zone. I'm your host,

- 21:16Speaker 4: sure it'll change my life. As Games of the Year baby,
- 21:18Speaker 4: Oh okay. Games of the Year lines were finally released
- 21:21Speaker 4: all the way through. Okay, like the actual South Bend ones,
- 21:24Speaker 4: which are good. That's a uh, it's a good thing
- 21:26Speaker 4: for us. So we get to uh speculate.
- 21:29Speaker 3: All right, football seasons here. The ReBs are excited. I
- 21:33Speaker 3: guess Mississippi State fans are cautiously optimistic. Old misbelieves they're
- 21:42Speaker 3: going to repeat what they did last year. I don't
- 21:45Speaker 3: think eleven and one is not happening, But I don't
- 21:50Speaker 3: know if anybody's going eleven in one Georgia, Ole, miss
- 21:53Speaker 3: LSU or Texas Orbama bad to bad. I'd say no. Now,
- 21:58Speaker 3: we could have some ten and two team games. I
- 22:02Speaker 3: think we'll have a big cluster seven and five, eight
- 22:05Speaker 3: and fours so and then you'll have the bottom. Can
- 22:09Speaker 3: Mississippi State fight their way out of the bottom? Of
- 22:11Speaker 3: the league. You know, we talked about it during the offseason.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Last year, You're up seventeen on Texas in the fourth quarter,
- 22:21Speaker 3: nine on Tennessee and yeah, you kick a field goal
- 22:25Speaker 3: and you beat Florida, but you know you got to
- 22:30Speaker 3: run the numbers on. Arizona State was lucky. So if
- 22:35Speaker 3: you take that away, but add those three, you're still
- 22:37Speaker 3: happy because you can't have all four. We can't do
- 22:42Speaker 3: it that way. But can they fight their way out
- 22:45Speaker 3: of the bottom where Arkansas, Mississippi State, Kentucky, and I
- 22:51Speaker 3: guess South Carolina last year the year before they had
- 22:54Speaker 3: a good year, but you know the disaster teams were Arkansas,
- 23:00Speaker 3: Mississippi State, Kentucky, and South Carolina. Last year, isn't it crazy?
- 23:05Speaker 3: Vanderbilt went ten and two. They got stopped. I mean
- 23:11Speaker 3: Vandy went ten and two. I mean they didn't even
- 23:18Speaker 3: come close to jumping off the page at you. And
- 23:21Speaker 3: if if the league's so the league was super watered
- 23:25Speaker 3: down the last two years, if it's even more bar
- 23:28Speaker 3: two thinks he did. I don't know what we're gonna
- 23:30Speaker 3: you know, we'll see. I kind of lean that way,
- 23:33Speaker 3: but I hope he's wrong. But could I love it
- 23:36Speaker 3: when he's wrong. But if the league is even more
- 23:39Speaker 3: watered down this year, again, Bandy with Diego Pavia and
- 23:45Speaker 3: what else did you see on the field? Did anything
- 23:47Speaker 3: jump out at you?
- 23:49Speaker 2: No?
- 23:49Speaker 3: And yet that was a ten win team. What what
- 23:57Speaker 3: does that tell us? Anybody can go ten and two
- 24:00Speaker 3: in the new era fractured and splinter talent. If the
- 24:05Speaker 3: Vanderbilt commodorees I mean, Diego's good, but he right, I mean,
- 24:10Speaker 3: he's good, He's a playmaker, He's dangerous at the college level.
- 24:13Speaker 3: I don't care what the NFL you know. I know
- 24:14Speaker 3: he got cut I'm not. We're talking Vanderbilt Commodore's best
- 24:18Speaker 3: player ever, even more so than Jay Cutler, who no
- 24:23Speaker 3: doubt is a better pro. But a lot of people
- 24:25Speaker 3: won't be able to follow that because they'll say, well,
- 24:27Speaker 3: but Jay Cutler played in the NFL. Diego at Vanderbilt,
- 24:32Speaker 3: best player they've ever had, playmaker, all kinds of stuff,
- 24:36Speaker 3: but that team went t I mean I remember watching
- 24:40Speaker 3: them last year thinking, I mean, they look solid. You know,
- 24:44Speaker 3: they're solid on both sides of the ball, and they
- 24:47Speaker 3: have kind of a magician at quarterback. That's where we are,
- 24:53Speaker 3: and a pretty good schedule they were one of the
- 24:56Speaker 3: ones that drew ole Miss Bandy and a couple others
- 25:02Speaker 3: drew an amazing schedule. Remember when Kirby Smart threw Greg
- 25:06Speaker 3: Sankie under the bus on the stage at the SEC
- 25:11Speaker 3: Championship game about how Georgia had to play? They did,
- 25:16Speaker 3: but I don't even they played at Texas and at Bama.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Maybe they had some other games that were that were
- 25:23Speaker 3: super tough. But Sanke is up on stage in Atlanta
- 25:30Speaker 3: and did you see it was like a skunk was
- 25:33Speaker 3: in between his legs. When when Kirby just was like
- 25:37Speaker 3: and they sent us on the road all year or something,
- 25:41Speaker 3: I was like, okay, you know if we thought that
- 25:47Speaker 3: that was one of the most beaten and battered SEC
- 25:51Speaker 3: Championship games. Where de Bor and Smart were talking about
- 25:56Speaker 3: all the players that they had out for that game,
- 26:00Speaker 3: especially Bama, but Georgia was beat up. Can you imagine
- 26:04Speaker 3: what the SEC Championship game is gonna look like on
- 26:07Speaker 3: a non game conference schedule, which we're gonna have this
- 26:10Speaker 3: year plus a power for non conference game. I mean,
- 26:16Speaker 3: when Mississippi State gets to Atlanta, how beat up and
- 26:19Speaker 3: battered are they going to be? When they played Lane
- 26:22Speaker 3: Kiffin and LSU or Kirby and Georgia.
- 26:25Speaker 4: I mean it'll be twoesy twos.
- 26:28Speaker 3: I mean it's got to be either Jeff Levy and
- 26:30Speaker 3: Mississippi State or will Stein in Kentucky. Now, I asked
- 26:34Speaker 3: some people up there if will Stein was a I
- 26:36Speaker 3: just got back for our listeners Thursday through Sunday. I
- 26:39Speaker 3: was in Kentucky. I flew into the wrong airport. Nice.
- 26:44Speaker 3: I didn't even realize it until I got to the gate.
- 26:46Speaker 3: I'll tell I'll tell you that story. I had a
- 26:48Speaker 3: great time with our friends from here. Taste Italian Kitchen
- 26:52Speaker 3: represented so well. They're gonna have three Elijah Craig barrel
- 26:56Speaker 3: picks and a heaven Hill bottled in bond. Plus they
- 26:59Speaker 3: picked up another I don't know how many others from
- 27:02Speaker 3: other distilleries. But we had an amazing time and an
- 27:06Speaker 3: amazing experience in Kentucky. I ask people if will Stein
- 27:12Speaker 3: was a real person. Who is we think the head
- 27:16Speaker 3: coach at Kentucky and we think that was him at
- 27:18Speaker 3: SEC Media Days last week or the week before as
- 27:21Speaker 3: week four with bar two, because we went to Pearl
- 27:23Speaker 3: River Resort, it was kind of fifty to fifty. Yeah,
- 27:28Speaker 3: that's fair it is. You know, they're not happy with
- 27:31Speaker 3: Mark Pope right now. So just to get to just
- 27:34Speaker 3: for you to understand kind of the mentality, which I
- 27:37Speaker 3: know you do, but having just spent almost four days there,
- 27:41Speaker 3: just to get an idea of where Kentucky and Louisville
- 27:44Speaker 3: are right now, as far as there's sports state of mind,
- 27:49Speaker 3: because y'all are y'all are all of y'all listening are
- 27:52Speaker 3: focused on old Misssissippi State, Bama, LSU, whoever your team is,
- 27:56Speaker 3: And I mean, you're just you're locked in. You you
- 27:59Speaker 3: want win so bad you can't stand it. It's all
- 28:02Speaker 3: you're thinking about now. And we're marching to Labor Day
- 28:05Speaker 3: weekend to break bread and do this thing which is football,
- 28:09Speaker 3: which is so fun. And then a week later the
- 28:12Speaker 3: NFL kicks in, which is even better. But I kind
- 28:18Speaker 3: of got a fifty to fifty on whether Will Stein's
- 28:20Speaker 3: a real person when you even asked that question, did
- 28:24Speaker 3: you have to walk through wait Kentucky basketball to get
- 28:27Speaker 3: to Kentucky football? Well, I would. So we were in
- 28:30Speaker 3: a bunch of restaurants and bars and speakeasies and the
- 28:33Speaker 3: stillery bars or you know, the way they set up
- 28:35Speaker 3: their little Man caves and all that stuff. So, I
- 28:37Speaker 3: mean there's a lot of moving around. We're talking to
- 28:39Speaker 3: different people, conversation, people are having fun. I mean, you've
- 28:43Speaker 3: got a little Glenn Caring glass with a little bit
- 28:45Speaker 3: of bourbon, and you know, the spirits are flow. As
- 28:47Speaker 3: Churchill said, I think a little bit better with just
- 28:50Speaker 3: a little bit of a beverage. So having said that's
- 28:55Speaker 3: a good question, Jackson, the what drove the conversation, if
- 29:01Speaker 3: I didn't drive it with SEC football, was whether or
- 29:04Speaker 3: not Mark Pope's gonna make it in Kentucky basketball. That's it.
- 29:09Speaker 3: That's what they had checked out on Stoops a while back. Yeah,
- 29:16Speaker 3: they don't know who will Some of them. I don't
- 29:18Speaker 3: think even know when I would say will Stein. It's
- 29:22Speaker 3: kind of like when you're talking to Alabama fans about
- 29:24Speaker 3: their basketball or baseball coach that you'll get that blank,
- 29:28Speaker 3: like like they're supposed to know, but I don't. They're like,
- 29:30Speaker 3: I don't. I'm supposed to know who that is, but
- 29:33Speaker 3: I don't know who that is. I got some of that. Yeah,
- 29:36Speaker 3: that's fair, Yeah, that's expected. Right.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I definitely did figure. I mean, if you ask
- 29:42Speaker 4: someone about football, you know, especially there, they're going to
- 29:47Speaker 4: have to walk you through that. And then I figured
- 29:49Speaker 4: they even walked the cow to get there. I figured
- 29:51Speaker 4: they walked to Mark Pope.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Well, So Calla Perry was brought up a lot, just
- 29:55Speaker 3: like Lane Kiffin and Dan Well, Dan Mullen since since
- 29:58Speaker 3: twenty eighteen and Kiffen Well, Dan will be brought up
- 30:01Speaker 3: forever because he'll always be a part of the fabric
- 30:04Speaker 3: of football, both high school, junior college in college because
- 30:08Speaker 3: he had an impact on all three and Lane Kiffin
- 30:12Speaker 3: will too. Oh yeah, yeah, as it should. Absolutely. I
- 30:18Speaker 3: mean we'll be talking about Bobby Collins and Jim carmondy
- 30:21Speaker 3: and and and Billy Brewer and Jackie Sheryl for for
- 30:25Speaker 3: years and years and years.
- 30:27Speaker 4: What kind of economic impact do you think cal had
- 30:29Speaker 4: on there?
- 30:30Speaker 3: That's that he he helped the bourbon game. Yeah, surely
- 30:40Speaker 3: he helped the bourbon game. Yeah yeah, yeah, definitely would
- 30:45Speaker 3: have overlapped. Yeah, I mean he's a bourbon guy. I
- 30:49Speaker 3: don't know about that, but he's a you know, he
- 30:52Speaker 3: got into horses. Patino was the first to really get
- 30:55Speaker 3: into horses and still is and he's still tied in
- 30:59Speaker 3: to the state of Kentucky through the the horse business.
- 31:04Speaker 3: But yes, Cal, you know it was kind of that
- 31:09Speaker 3: perfect storm. We've got that here with Mullin and Freeze,
- 31:13Speaker 3: but then with Kiffin and Leech and Dion. When you
- 31:19Speaker 3: get a perfect storm, you you know it's a big deal.
- 31:22Speaker 3: We've caught that in college baseball at times the last
- 31:25Speaker 3: twenty years with Bianco and whoever was at Mississippi State.
- 31:31Speaker 3: That the perfect storm was Cal as the ultimate promoter
- 31:37Speaker 3: and salesman, comes in at the same time of the
- 31:42Speaker 3: bourbon boom. You just couldn't have timed it, which then
- 31:45Speaker 3: made horse horse racing was already big, but it made
- 31:48Speaker 3: it even bigger. Okay, And so yes, believe it or not,
- 31:54Speaker 3: Cal did drive more tourism and helped the bourbon industry
- 31:58Speaker 3: and the horse industry in the state of can like
- 32:00Speaker 3: no one else other than Rick Petia. Now don't don't
- 32:03Speaker 3: don't forget there was some overlap from from Rick being
- 32:07Speaker 3: at Louisville Patino and Cal at Kentucky. You're talking about
- 32:11Speaker 3: star power, all within an hour and a half. Yeah, okay,
- 32:16Speaker 3: So you asked me about my uber ride. I was
- 32:20Speaker 3: not paying attention. We had to move the trip because
- 32:23Speaker 3: it was supposed to be the week before. And so
- 32:27Speaker 3: when I was booking, because I've flown into Lexington to
- 32:32Speaker 3: a bunch, I guess I just wasn't thinking. I don't
- 32:36Speaker 3: know what I was doing. So I booked from Jackson
- 32:39Speaker 3: to Atlanta to Lexington. Well on Thursday morning, No, yeah, Thursday.
- 32:47Speaker 3: I walked to my gate in Atlanta and I go,
- 32:51Speaker 3: that says Lexington. They must be wrong, right. So I'm
- 32:57Speaker 3: looking at my Delta Airlines app and I'm like, hold on,
- 33:02Speaker 3: oh wow, I booked to Lexington, Kentucky. So then I
- 33:08Speaker 3: text Wendy, of course, and I'm like, hey, what do
- 33:12Speaker 3: you think I should do here? This plane is about
- 33:16Speaker 3: to take off in ten minutes and I just or
- 33:20Speaker 3: maybe fifteen, and I just figured out that I was
- 33:23Speaker 3: supposed to fly into Louisville, not just that big a deal,
- 33:27Speaker 3: not Lexington. But should I wait? There was another flight later,
- 33:30Speaker 3: but you don't ever want to chance it, especially with
- 33:34Speaker 3: thunderstorms and stuff. And I kept thinking, I just need
- 33:38Speaker 3: to get there. Yeah, And then so then I get
- 33:42Speaker 3: on my American Express app and into the concierge part
- 33:46Speaker 3: of that, and I'm talking. I don't know if it's
- 33:48Speaker 3: about or a real person, don't care but I'm trying
- 33:51Speaker 3: to rent a car. So I'm on the tarmac. We're
- 33:53Speaker 3: about to take off to Lexington and I'm going back
- 33:57Speaker 3: and forth here and Wendy's like, just Uber, you don't
- 34:00Speaker 3: want to mess with picking up a car dropping a
- 34:04Speaker 3: car off. And I'm like, you're right.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Your thought process behind this was as long as I
- 34:08Speaker 4: have this in my hands, I can get there though,
- 34:11Speaker 4: no question.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, if I get a vehicle, I can get there.
- 34:14Speaker 3: I can get there. And so I get to Lexington,
- 34:19Speaker 3: which is I've said this before, it is my favorite
- 34:23Speaker 3: airport in the country. It's small but beautiful, and it's
- 34:30Speaker 3: right downtown somehow, and it's right across the street from Keenland,
- 34:34Speaker 3: which is the prettiest horse race track in the country,
- 34:37Speaker 3: which we did drive by my Uber driver and now
- 34:40Speaker 3: what was her name, Angie? She was very nice. She's
- 34:43Speaker 3: from San Antonio. She went to Texas A and m
- 34:47Speaker 3: nice and her daughter goes to Belmont Nice. Well, we
- 34:51Speaker 3: had an hour and fifteen minutes in the car, so
- 34:53Speaker 3: when I went on the phone, I was talking to
- 34:55Speaker 3: her and she was a sport. She mentioned Jackie Cheryl
- 34:57Speaker 3: right out of the gate. Really, she's like you're just sick.
- 35:01Speaker 3: Where are you from? Oh yeah, I said, Jackson, Mississippi.
- 35:04Speaker 3: She went, do you know who Jackie Cheryl is? I went, yes,
- 35:07Speaker 3: we do. Jackie and Peggy gave Wendy and I a
- 35:10Speaker 3: beautiful wedding gift. And I've told the story about staying
- 35:13Speaker 3: up till one or two am and Acapulco overlooking the
- 35:17Speaker 3: beautiful Pacific Ocean and listening to Cheryl in nineteen ninety
- 35:21Speaker 3: seven or whatever it was. Tell me Bear Bryant stories.
- 35:24Speaker 3: Back to my uber drive. So I extended my uber
- 35:30Speaker 3: drive a little bit by about thirty minutes. So it
- 35:33Speaker 3: went from maybe forty five or so had I flown
- 35:37Speaker 3: into Louisville to about an hour and ten hour and fifteen. Honestly, though,
- 35:42Speaker 3: Lexington's a beautiful state, and driving in the back of
- 35:46Speaker 3: an SUV and just hanging out on a beautiful Thursday
- 35:50Speaker 3: was all good. Yeah, that's not too bad. Nuh.
- 35:52Speaker 4: I mean, that's not one of the deals where you
- 35:54Speaker 4: get out and you're like, oh man, I never thought
- 35:56Speaker 4: I was gonna get here. You had a good you
- 35:58Speaker 4: had a good plan, right, that's not bad. That doesn't
- 36:01Speaker 4: derail you from your trip.
- 36:03Speaker 3: Not at all. I wasn't gonna let it not. I've
- 36:06Speaker 3: traveled too much and so I don't. It wasn't a
- 36:11Speaker 3: oh blank panic. It was I was just trying to
- 36:13Speaker 3: figure out what I wanted to do. Yeah, what's it?
- 36:15Speaker 3: What's my best plan of it? But then I thought,
- 36:17Speaker 3: let's just get in the state. Let's not wait for
- 36:21Speaker 3: another flight. Then you can get delayed and then you're
- 36:25Speaker 3: really in a in a jam or a bond. Right,
- 36:29Speaker 3: let's just get there. I've already flown into Lexington, a
- 36:31Speaker 3: bunch of Louisville Lexington. It was maybe I just needed
- 36:35Speaker 3: to be in both towns. I mean I went to
- 36:39Speaker 3: Lexington and Louisville and Elizabethtown and Bardstown and drove through
- 36:45Speaker 3: my buddy Travis's hometown of Bowling Green. I mean I hit,
- 36:49Speaker 3: I hit it. That's you know, tour or maybe I
- 36:52Speaker 3: didn't try through Bowling Green, but right by anyway, So
- 36:59Speaker 3: it was funny. You asked me my longest uber drive,
- 37:02Speaker 3: and I think that's hit an hour and fifteen minutes.
- 37:04Speaker 3: That's gay.
- 37:04Speaker 4: I mean that's a that's a trick. Yeah, that's a track.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Yeah, because that's a good that's a good ride, right, Yeah,
- 37:13Speaker 3: I mean Fort Walton to the back porch is not
- 37:15Speaker 3: that far, and then all the other places that we've
- 37:17Speaker 3: all flown into. And even if it's a thirty forty
- 37:20Speaker 3: five minute uber, you know, my hour fifteen trumps it. Yeah,
- 37:26Speaker 3: but it was all good. I got to the hotel. Well,
- 37:28Speaker 3: you had a good driver. Oh she was super sweet.
- 37:32Speaker 3: She you know, Clutch has traveled a ton and uh,
- 37:38Speaker 3: like I said, she went to Texas, A and M
- 37:40Speaker 3: and that was that was a cool tie. Talking about Cheryl,
- 37:45Speaker 3: she couldn't believe that I'd hung out. Well, I mean
- 37:49Speaker 3: I hung out with him when he was in trouble too,
- 37:51Speaker 3: but in Acapulco for a weekend. I mean that is
- 37:54Speaker 3: Randola anyway. In that random that's so random. But that's
- 38:01Speaker 3: what happens in life now when you get into ubers.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, as loo as you attracted. Yeah, all right,
- 38:09Speaker 3: what do we have this week? Biggest story of the
- 38:11Speaker 3: week Drew Brees's uh Pro Football Hall of Fame. Biggest
- 38:17Speaker 3: game as far as anticipation, the Betrayal Bowl lsu at Ole,
- 38:22Speaker 3: miss Another big story and topic is can Levy went
- 38:26Speaker 3: enough to extend his career in Starborlo, Mississippi? So those
- 38:33Speaker 3: are the bit. You know, Drew Brees number nine Pro
- 38:36Speaker 3: Football Hall of Fame. This Saturday, you're gonna see Sean.
- 38:39Speaker 3: You're gonna watch Sean Payton as the presenter for Drew Brees. Yes,
- 38:46Speaker 3: and he'll be emotional as he should be. They both
- 38:51Speaker 3: changed each other's lives. How many other they changed a
- 38:55Speaker 3: bunch of people New Orleans Saints fans, people who live
- 38:59Speaker 3: in New Orleans, who live in the outskirts of New Orleans, Jackson,
- 39:03Speaker 3: Mississippi Gulf Coast. We've talked about it. Breeze and Peyton
- 39:07Speaker 3: changed everything. And so Sean Peyton will be the presenter
- 39:15Speaker 3: for your Hall of Famer number nine, the Goat Drew Brees,
- 39:20Speaker 3: first ballot Hall of Famer, and there wasn't any doubt
- 39:24Speaker 3: with he and Larry Fitzgerald wide receiver out of Arizona
- 39:28Speaker 3: Cardinals out of that all right, So that I think
- 39:31Speaker 3: that's going to be a cool vibe and a fun
- 39:34Speaker 3: topic of discussion all week because you'll reminisce and get
- 39:38Speaker 3: nostalgic about the games that were your favorite, right while,
- 39:44Speaker 3: I mean, I know the super Bowl is your favorite,
- 39:48Speaker 3: but there were so many big regular season games that
- 39:51Speaker 3: Sean and Drew put you in because they won so much,
- 39:54Speaker 3: and then there were some epic playoff games, and I
- 39:57Speaker 3: know there were some tough losses. At least you're that
- 40:00Speaker 3: you would rather be in the arena than outside, and
- 40:04Speaker 3: Saints fans were outside from nineteen sixty seven to two
- 40:07Speaker 3: thousand and five. And then Sean and Drew did their
- 40:11Speaker 3: deal and the rest is history, and it's proven, just
- 40:16Speaker 3: like in NIL today, anybody can win, but you got
- 40:20Speaker 3: to have some high level coaching and leadership, and that's
- 40:25Speaker 3: what the Saints finally got. And they lived on Monday
- 40:28Speaker 3: night football and Sunday Sunday three o'clock and Sunday night,
- 40:33Speaker 3: and then of course they lived in the playoffs. So
- 40:35Speaker 3: Drew goes in into Kenton, Ohio, into the Pro Football
- 40:39Speaker 3: Hall of Fame this weekend, number nine the Goat. And
- 40:46Speaker 3: there'll be some people with a lot of water in
- 40:49Speaker 3: their eyes on Saturday, as you'll be doing yard work
- 40:53Speaker 3: and cooking and smoking some ribs or whatever you're doing
- 40:57Speaker 3: in and out of the outside the the water, and
- 41:01Speaker 3: you'll catch some of it and you'll be like, you'll
- 41:04Speaker 3: stop and you'll go I remember in two thousand whatever,
- 41:10Speaker 3: or for some of you who were going to three, four, five, six, seven,
- 41:13Speaker 3: eight games a year you live down there. Once they
- 41:16Speaker 3: started winning, and then that ticket got hard to get.
- 41:19Speaker 3: I can't believe what I paid at times. Now we've
- 41:24Speaker 3: been fortunate that a lot of people have given us tickets,
- 41:28Speaker 3: but I can't believe what I paid at times for
- 41:31Speaker 3: Wilkes and I and he was little during that the
- 41:34Speaker 3: beginning of that run to go down there. I never
- 41:37Speaker 3: in a million years thought that I would pay that
