Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, everybody, and welcome to another episode of Off the Air,
- 0:03Speaker 1: the weekly podcast from the Lynch & Taco Show here
- 0:06Speaker 1: at 101.1 WJRR in beautiful Maitland, Florida. I'm Pat Lynch.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Maitland, in case you're listening from out of state, is
- 0:13Speaker 2: just a part of Orlando overall.
- 0:17Speaker 1: And that's Taco Bob. All right. So, you know, we
- 0:21Speaker 1: do this Off the Air podcast pretty much every Thursday.
- 0:24Speaker 1: And wouldn't you know it, as the weekend approaches... stupid
- 0:28Speaker 1: effing hurricane had to go ahead and get in under
- 0:31Speaker 1: the wire to spoil the record that had been going
- 0:36Speaker 1: previously of no hurricanes in the Atlantic basin this year.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Yeah. And there's several reasons why I can say it
- 0:42Speaker 2: bugs me, but I think you agree is that one,
- 0:47Speaker 2: it's the insurance companies. I'm sure going to say, well,
- 0:50Speaker 2: there was a, it was a hurricane on the map,
- 0:52Speaker 2: even though it's not near us. And then two is
- 0:55Speaker 2: how it almost seems like these meteorologists have boners when
- 0:58Speaker 2: they're talking about this. And I get it. That's their job.
- 1:02Speaker 2: But let's not be smiling when we're talking about a
- 1:04Speaker 2: storm that's going to wail into an area that gets
- 1:06Speaker 2: hit all the time. Yeah, I know.
- 1:08Speaker 1: So, you know, if you're listening from that area of
- 1:11Speaker 1: the southeast, you know, best of luck. You just got
- 1:15Speaker 1: to ride through it and deal with it and then
- 1:18Speaker 1: take whatever comes afterwards, whatever it may bring. We've all
- 1:21Speaker 1: You know, pretty much, if you live in this part
- 1:23Speaker 1: of the world, have had to deal with it in
- 1:26Speaker 1: one way, shape, or form at times. But let's just
- 1:29Speaker 1: hope this will be it and we'll be done with
- 1:31Speaker 1: this year's season. I'm just pissed that it could screw
- 1:34Speaker 1: up some of these college games this weekend.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I know. I had to look. My daughter, I didn't realize,
- 1:38Speaker 2: but she's flying in to go to– or driving in
- 1:42Speaker 2: here to fly out to Nashville. I don't know why.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Maybe a concert or something. And I had to look
- 1:47Speaker 2: on the map if that would be effective. Probably. Hope
- 1:50Speaker 2: it's an indoor show. you just feel bad for those
- 1:54Speaker 2: people that live in that area.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I know they're going to play that Alabama, Georgia game
- 1:58Speaker 1: come hell or literally high water.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Without a doubt. It's just a matter of big moneymaker.
- 2:02Speaker 1: They may change the time of it. We'll see. That's
- 2:04Speaker 1: to be determined anyway. So that little side shows happening. Um,
- 2:08Speaker 1: what else is going on? Um, not related to it.
- 2:12Speaker 1: It looks like there'll be decent waves for the surf
- 2:14Speaker 1: fest this weekend on the East coast of Florida taco.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I mean, hopefully the pier blocks out some of the
- 2:20Speaker 2: wind on it. Um, Surf Fest happening Saturday. And in
- 2:26Speaker 2: case you're going, wait, what? Saturday the 10th, okay? Saturday, Sunday,
- 2:30Speaker 2: and Monday on Columbus Day. Or Indigenous Peoples Day. Oh, wait.
- 2:39Speaker 1: This will end up triggering people and it will be misheard.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Okay, then don't say it.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Do we still have to call it Indigenous Peoples Day?
- 2:45Speaker 1: It's Columbus Day.
- 2:47Speaker 2: I just call it Columbus Day. I mean, that's what
- 2:48Speaker 2: it always was. I just.
- 2:51Speaker 1: every little effing thing these days. It's like, you can't
- 2:54Speaker 1: say that it hurts someone's feelings. You're marginalizing people.
- 2:57Speaker 2: You're whatever. No, we're not. We're just.
- 2:59Speaker 1: It's listed.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Under both on my phone, I think, so... Let me see, Pat. Yes,
- 3:05Speaker 2: Columbus and Indigenous Day, so... Suck a dick.
- 3:10Speaker 1: You'll get over it.
- 3:12Speaker 2: It'll be okay. There's a... Yeah, so Surf Fest is
- 3:17Speaker 2: going to be a really good time out there. It
- 3:19Speaker 2: always is. Waves are going to be good, as you said.
- 3:21Speaker 2: And it's a whole weekend event. Surf, pro, and you've
- 3:26Speaker 2: got pros from all over the world that come out
- 3:28Speaker 2: for this. And that's happening all three days. Then you
- 3:31Speaker 2: have events throughout the night. There's a free street party
- 3:35Speaker 2: in Cocoa Beach, actually, downtown Cocoa Beach, starting at 6
- 3:40Speaker 2: on the Saturday night. And then a big auction and
- 3:44Speaker 2: taste of Brevard on Sunday night. That's a good place
- 3:47Speaker 2: to score some stuff. If you're sitting here going, oh,
- 3:50Speaker 2: I'm not listening in the area where I'm able to
- 3:52Speaker 2: make it, you could do the auction online at NKF.
- 3:55Speaker 2: You just search NKF Surf Fest.
- 3:58Speaker 1: National Kidney Foundation. Well, have fun out there, brother.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Speaking of beachy things, I looked at something. and came
- 4:05Speaker 2: across this the other day. I don't know why it
- 4:07Speaker 2: was just sitting. I guess my wife had straightened up
- 4:10Speaker 2: the office, and this happened to be.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Out. He's got something in his hand. I can't see
- 4:19Speaker 1: it right now. And I go, you've got to be
- 4:22Speaker 1: kidding me.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Boom.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Cuervo Gold Passport?
- 4:32Speaker 2: That's from our trip to Cuervo Island. Like, what was that, 15,
- 4:37Speaker 2: 20 years ago? Was that crazy guy Stan and all
- 4:41Speaker 2: the smoking hot dirty Russian was there?
- 4:44Speaker 1: Was that before or after we got fired?
- 4:47Speaker 2: It was before we got fired. It was before, so yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Because I remember somebody was there.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, moving right. Yeah, it was definitely before we
- 4:55Speaker 1: got fired.
- 4:56Speaker 2: It was. We took a trip. It was really cool.
- 5:00Speaker 2: And we've talked about this before, but we haven't talked
- 5:02Speaker 2: about it in forever. Jose Cuervo used to fly out,
- 5:06Speaker 2: you know, like radio shows.
- 5:09Speaker 1: To do a big weekend promotion.
- 5:10Speaker 2: In the Virgin Islands on this quote-unquote virgin or Cuervo nation,
- 5:15Speaker 2: Cuervo Island.
- 5:17Speaker 1: It was just an island they rented out for us
- 5:19Speaker 1: to come and get wasted on.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Exactly. But they straight up, when he says rented out,
- 5:26Speaker 2: And they spent so much money on that to fly
- 5:29Speaker 2: all these people. And you had people flown in from
- 5:32Speaker 2: different countries even.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah, there were some characters at that event.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Flew in people from all around, and then they– Our
- 5:40Speaker 2: job was to hang out, party, have fun, and then
- 5:43Speaker 2: do our show from there, which is nonstop mentioning Jose Cuervo.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Well, if you recall, very little of our broadcast actually happened.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yeah, because it was bad connections.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Bad connections. So they spent all this money. We go
- 5:57Speaker 1: down there and show up to do the show, and
- 6:02Speaker 1: our engineer who was with us was like, oh, it's
- 6:04Speaker 1: not working.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Well, could that maybe be.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Is that you or them? He's like, I don't know.
- 6:10Speaker 1: It's not working.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I think it's their line. I'm trying. But so the
- 6:14Speaker 2: party itself though, it had all these Cuervo chicks that
- 6:20Speaker 2: you got. Okay. You know, when you're out and you
- 6:23Speaker 2: see different, you know, beer girls, girls, promo girls, but
- 6:26Speaker 2: these ones would stand up to today's hot levels. Wouldn't
- 6:31Speaker 2: you agree? Sure. They were crazy hot. And, uh, There
- 6:35Speaker 2: was this one guy, Stan, that was the MC for
- 6:38Speaker 2: the event and the party thrower kind of. He was
- 6:41Speaker 2: wild as could be. So we had just a really
- 6:44Speaker 2: cool time.
- 6:45Speaker 1: He was leading by example.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Yes, he was. The guy was a machine, a party machine.
- 6:49Speaker 2: They would give away these Cuervo coins for different things
- 6:54Speaker 2: that people would do. Like, hey, get in the limbo
- 6:56Speaker 2: contest and you could win some Cuervo coins. It was
- 6:59Speaker 2: to motivate people who weren't, which you're in radio, you
- 7:02Speaker 2: should be motivated to do fun shit anyway. But There's like,
- 7:07Speaker 2: then it escalated. And one was like, all right, man,
- 7:10Speaker 2: if you piss on that intern, you'll earn X amount
- 7:14Speaker 2: of chick or chips. And this. Guy was buried in
- 7:18Speaker 2: the sand on the beach up to his neck.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Now, to be fair here, that wasn't Stan's idea.
- 7:24Speaker 2: No, it was their idea. They said, how many gold
- 7:26Speaker 2: chips can I get?
- 7:27Speaker 1: Because this numbnuts is willing to let us bury him
- 7:30Speaker 1: up to his neck, and then we're going to take
- 7:31Speaker 1: a leak on him.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Not us. We weren't associated with this, as hard as
- 7:36Speaker 1: that may be to believe.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yeah, we had nothing to do with it. We did watch.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Of course we did. And they said, well, how many
- 7:45Speaker 2: coins for this? what's wrong with you guys? But then remember,
- 7:49Speaker 2: towards the end of it, I don't even know what
- 7:52Speaker 2: you used the coins on.
- 7:53Speaker 1: You didn't use them for anything, I don't think.
- 7:55Speaker 2: I think it was just bragging rights. But then towards
- 7:57Speaker 2: the end of it, I remember when I was like,
- 7:59Speaker 2: all right, man, it was either he asked or I
- 8:03Speaker 2: just volunteered, hey, I'll take a dump in this pool
- 8:06Speaker 2: at the resort, dumbass. And it was going to score
- 8:10Speaker 2: me some good, but then I had poop fright. Which I.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I did that. Reflecting back, it's probably good that you
- 8:21Speaker 1: had whatever you just described it as.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it definitely was. But anyway, so yeah, that
- 8:26Speaker 2: was a great trip. That's the one where, Pat, you
- 8:29Speaker 2: mentioned it a couple years ago, I believe, where it's
- 8:33Speaker 2: time to leave.
- 8:36Speaker 1: The last night of this, I think we were there
- 8:39Speaker 1: for a total of three days, maybe three or four days.
- 8:43Speaker 2: It was like four, yeah.
- 8:45Speaker 1: The last day They had like this beach luau type thing.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Crazy party.
- 8:51Speaker 1: And it was cool.
- 8:52Speaker 2: It was cool.
- 8:52Speaker 1: It was good food. And, you know, obviously drinks are
- 8:55Speaker 1: just flowing. And the next morning there was three waves
- 9:01Speaker 1: of departures and you were assigned to one. We unfortunately
- 9:05Speaker 1: got stuck on the earliest one. It was this bus
- 9:08Speaker 1: to the airport was leaving where we were staying at
- 9:11Speaker 1: 5.15 in the morning. So, you know, I... Come 9 o'clock,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm going to go get some sleep, dude.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I'll see you back at the place.
- 9:22Speaker 2: It was a little more, too. It was like, Bob,
- 9:24Speaker 2: you remember, we're leaving at this time. You're going to
- 9:27Speaker 2: want to get some sleep. But I'm surrounded by all these,
- 9:30Speaker 2: you know, partiers and having fun. And I don't drink tequila.
- 9:35Speaker 2: But I had a little bit of tequila that night.
- 9:38Speaker 2: But then, you know, it was mainly drink a beer
- 9:39Speaker 2: or whatever and then had a little more tequila.
- 9:42Speaker 1: So I go back and I, you know, get all
- 9:44Speaker 1: my stuff ready. Ready to go. All I need to
- 9:47Speaker 1: do is just shower and throw the clothes on that
- 9:48Speaker 1: I'm going to be wearing home.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Sleeping.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I got woken up. Thunderstorm. Thunderstorm happening.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Were you and I sharing a room? Yep. I think so, yeah. Yep.
- 10:00Speaker 1: That was one of the last times we shared a room,
- 10:01Speaker 1: by the way. Anyway, thunderstorm wakes me up, and I'm like, hmm,
- 10:05Speaker 1: what time? I look over, and it's like 10 after
- 10:09Speaker 1: 3 in the morning. Bob's not in the room. We're
- 10:14Speaker 1: supposed to meet this bus at 5.15.
- 10:16Speaker 2: And it's the last flight out of the island.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Oh. And he's not there. I'm like, well, another hour
- 10:27Speaker 1: and a half to sleep. So I went back to sleep.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Woke up in plenty of time to be ready to go.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Still no Bob. And I look outside. It's still pouring rain.
- 10:38Speaker 1: And he is passed out on a chase lounge outside
- 10:41Speaker 1: the door, which you apparently couldn't figure out how to open.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Exactly. Couldn't figure out how to get back in. And
- 10:50Speaker 2: cause I think, I don't, I don't recall. I think
- 10:52Speaker 2: it was a number code or something like that. Well,
- 10:54Speaker 2: that wasn't happening. So then he woke me up, shook
- 10:59Speaker 2: me for a while, I believe probably.
- 11:00Speaker 1: And then dude, get up, get up. And he's soaked
- 11:03Speaker 1: head to toe.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Yeah. So then I get up and I'm like, all right,
- 11:07Speaker 2: what time is it? But I was able to just
- 11:09Speaker 2: throw everything in the bag. I think I did. I
- 11:12Speaker 2: even shower. I think, no, I just, I just put
- 11:14Speaker 2: on Dry clothes, definitely.
- 11:16Speaker 1: We threw the sopping wet clothes in, like, one of
- 11:19Speaker 1: those plastic grocery.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Store bags, I think. Like, it was a trash can bag, yeah.
- 11:24Speaker 1: And we, you know, made our way to where we
- 11:27Speaker 1: needed to be in time to catch the bus over
- 11:29Speaker 1: to the airport.
- 11:30Speaker 2: But then was our bus and stuff delayed that morning? Nope.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Because I thought we sat at the bar, and I
- 11:35Speaker 2: was like, I don't care that the flight's delayed. No.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Wasn't that true. That one went smooth sailing, man.
- 11:42Speaker 2: It was a different trip.
- 11:44Speaker 1: You.
- 11:44Speaker 2: He was ready to leave. And I was like, you know,
- 11:47Speaker 2: this could be worse. We're sitting at a bar at
- 11:51Speaker 2: 9 o'clock, and it was a tiki bar by a pool.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I'm going.
- 11:56Speaker 1: You're not a Europe guy. I'm not a beach guy. No, exactly.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I mean, I enjoyed the trip there.
- 12:00Speaker 2: It was a real fun trip.
- 12:02Speaker 1: After a few days of being up close and personal
- 12:05Speaker 1: with you, I'm like, okay, all right. Let's wrap her up.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Let's wrap her up.
- 12:11Speaker 1: So anyway. We made it back, survived it.
- 12:15Speaker 2: By the way, that was not one of the last
- 12:16Speaker 2: times we shared a hotel room. We've shared since then, definitely.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Try not to. Try not to.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Oh, trust me. Sleeping with that pap smear buzzing along, too.
- 12:27Speaker 2: And that me snoring and sleep talking. I think mainly
- 12:31Speaker 2: my new roommate after that was Super Dave, and then
- 12:34Speaker 2: it was, what's his name, Paramore. He doesn't like sleeping
- 12:37Speaker 2: in the same room anymore.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Yeah, he kind of brought that up. yesterday during his
- 12:42Speaker 1: diary of a black man, because you guys are going
- 12:45Speaker 1: to be spending quality time. He's the promo this weekend
- 12:47Speaker 1: for surf fest.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah.
- 12:48Speaker 1: All right.
- 12:50Speaker 2: It'd be a good time, man. The boss man's going
- 12:52Speaker 2: to be out there. So we're all going to head
- 12:54Speaker 2: out tomorrow night.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Oh, Hey, did you change gears here? Did you see
- 12:59Speaker 1: the botched execution ladies awake now?
- 13:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah. She woke up on like Tuesday. Yeah.
- 13:04Speaker 1: She's awake. And, um, I guess the question, they're still
- 13:08Speaker 1: trying to figure out what's next. This is the Tennessee,
- 13:13Speaker 1: two dose of the lethal cocktail that didn't kill her
- 13:17Speaker 1: because they apparently missed the artery or the vein or
- 13:20Speaker 1: whatever they're supposed to stick the needle into.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Whatever the reason was, she didn't go. And I said,
- 13:26Speaker 2: don't even call the ambulance. Just jam another one in her.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Right then and there.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Now, that goes into the cruel and unusual aspect that
- 13:35Speaker 1: people will argue who are against the death penalty.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I know they will. I know they will. They'll argue
- 13:40Speaker 2: about if the lady farted during the thing. Anything they
- 13:44Speaker 2: can argue about, they will. What it comes down to
- 13:46Speaker 2: is if she basically, didn't she dismember the girl? Oh,
- 13:52Speaker 2: took out her skull and put.
- 13:54Speaker 1: A pentagram on her. Yeah, they did a satanic ritual
- 13:56Speaker 1: when she was like 18 to some, yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yeah, some unsuspecting girl that they just invited out to
- 14:02Speaker 2: the woods, her and her friends. And she went over
- 14:04Speaker 2: the top and killed her, dismembered, all this stuff. So
- 14:07Speaker 2: you know what? Yeah, I am going to jam a
- 14:09Speaker 2: third needle in her. I might even jam two at once.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Or pull out my pen to the surface. I might
- 14:15Speaker 2: even borrow from the guard there and say, give me
- 14:17Speaker 2: that pistol.
- 14:18Speaker 1: So I wondered if this was going to... Cause delays
- 14:23Speaker 1: in executions that use lethal injection around the country. Well,
- 14:26Speaker 1: the answer is now no, it will not.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Thank you, Texas. And if you're against a death penalty,
- 14:33Speaker 2: totally get it.
- 14:34Speaker 1: That's fine. I understand.
- 14:36Speaker 2: I'm not getting into that debate. I'm just saying this lady,
- 14:38Speaker 2: what she did, and I've heard the graphic stories of it.
- 14:42Speaker 2: It's so disgusting. Oh, and then she tried killing somebody
- 14:45Speaker 2: while she was in prison.
- 14:46Speaker 1: We're both pro-death penalty. And again, if you're not, that's fine. Yeah.
- 14:51Speaker 1: It's fine. Have your own opinion.
- 14:53Speaker 2: We have ours.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And let's not just, you know, hate each other because
- 14:57Speaker 1: we don't agree on something.
- 14:59Speaker 2: No, we should all have our own opinions.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Way too many other subjects we can hate each other on.
- 15:03Speaker 1: It's a waste of time. It gets to the point
- 15:07Speaker 1: of ridiculous sometimes. But anyway, so Texas... had one last
- 15:12Speaker 1: night and now florida has three on the books coming
- 15:15Speaker 1: up they including a double a double uh coming up
- 15:19Speaker 1: on the 13th.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yeah two for doing one at.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Noon i guess and one at uh six in the
- 15:24Speaker 1: evening it's stark and then they just signed for another
- 15:28Speaker 1: one the first week in november which will make 20
- 15:31Speaker 1: for the year a record.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Hey we gotta empty out these death row um stays
- 15:37Speaker 2: because that's costing all of us money. Who was it?
- 15:41Speaker 2: I'm sorry, if you raped and killed family members, you
- 15:45Speaker 2: need to. Yeah. Who was it?
- 15:47Speaker 1: Who was it we were talking to? This subject came
- 15:49Speaker 1: up this week about, you know, executions and stuff. And,
- 15:52Speaker 1: you know, some people are just so cruel and unusual
- 15:55Speaker 1: and inhumane and whatever. And he goes, why don't we just,
- 16:00Speaker 1: you know, use the– heavy anesthetics to the level where
- 16:05Speaker 1: they just, it's lights out and that's it.
- 16:07Speaker 2: It was Ken Yulo.
- 16:08Speaker 1: That's right. He's like, and I go, you know what?
- 16:10Speaker 2: You're right, dude.
- 16:11Speaker 1: It's like, you know, you hit them with enough propofol.
- 16:15Speaker 1: It's definitely not cruel and unusual. Anybody who's had propofol
- 16:19Speaker 1: administered before a medical procedure, you know, if done right,
- 16:23Speaker 1: it gives you like the most best sleep you've ever had.
- 16:27Speaker 2: He'd put you out in a matter of seconds.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Overdo it. And now you just think the lights go
- 16:32Speaker 1: out permanently, right? No must, no fuss.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:36Speaker 1: He might be on to something there.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I think it's a pretty good idea. We've had the
- 16:41Speaker 2: best ideas, though, when it comes to that. You know,
- 16:44Speaker 2: if you make it to make it a deterrent for
- 16:47Speaker 2: people to commit crimes.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Which is also one of the big arguments. Is it
- 16:51Speaker 1: a deterrent or not?
- 16:52Speaker 2: It would be if it was done in a Times
- 16:54Speaker 2: Square setting. And you charge tickets. That might be cruel
- 17:00Speaker 2: and unusual.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I think it would be more of a deterrent if
- 17:03Speaker 1: someone was sentenced and then more or less immediately the
- 17:07Speaker 1: sentence was carried out without these years and years and
- 17:11Speaker 1: years of delays.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Give them a couple of years in case there's something
- 17:16Speaker 2: that they find DNA-wise to where they're innocent. Say, you
- 17:20Speaker 2: know what? It's like a carton of milk. You're expired.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Come with me. Oh, you want a steak?
- 17:25Speaker 1: Have this frigging cheeseburger. Then we're throwing out the trash. Yeah. Anyway,
- 17:32Speaker 1: so it'll be interesting to see if Florida gets through
- 17:35Speaker 1: those three and sets the new record this year. Very
- 17:38Speaker 1: well could. Very well could. All right. What else we
- 17:41Speaker 1: got going? Oh, crap. Before we go, tomorrow is one
- 17:46Speaker 1: of the days of the year that I don't look
- 17:49Speaker 1: forward to.
- 17:51Speaker 2: You already had your physical. That went well.
- 17:53Speaker 1: That was this week.
- 17:54Speaker 2: You already had your dental appointment last week. That went
- 17:56Speaker 2: well a couple weeks ago.
- 17:57Speaker 1: That always goes well, yeah. My dog Otis, tomorrow it's
- 18:02Speaker 1: nail day. Nail day. I got one of those dogs
- 18:06Speaker 1: that will not, absolutely will not tolerate having his nails cut.
- 18:12Speaker 2: You just called it, brother. You just called it with
- 18:16Speaker 2: the amount of medicine. Just give three times the medicine
- 18:19Speaker 2: he's normally supposed to have. Get them all doped up.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Any of you who have a dog that deals with this,
- 18:25Speaker 1: you know what I'm about to say. They issue what's
- 18:27Speaker 1: called the chill protocol, Bob. So today we go to
- 18:31Speaker 1: our vet, pick up these drugs that we start giving
- 18:35Speaker 1: him this evening. Then he gets another dose tomorrow morning
- 18:40Speaker 1: when he eats. And then another one an hour before
- 18:43Speaker 1: we take him tomorrow afternoon.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Ask him for an extra two. That's it. You just
- 18:48Speaker 2: add one tonight and then one tomorrow morning. And I'm
- 18:53Speaker 2: telling you, it's going to go a lot better.
- 18:55Speaker 1: We've done this now twice with him. Tomorrow will be
- 18:57Speaker 1: the third time. And the first two did not go well.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Despite giving him this chill protocol. He's got like some
- 19:05Speaker 1: sort of superhuman, I don't know, tolerance, super canine tolerance
- 19:10Speaker 1: to whatever's in this drug that's supposed to chill him out.
- 19:12Speaker 1: It still takes four people to hold him down, primarily me.
- 19:18Speaker 2: He's got idiot strength. Give him more drugs.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Talk to the vet and say, hey. What do you
- 19:23Speaker 2: think about giving him two more? You've already dealt with
- 19:25Speaker 2: this two times that he has idiot strength.
- 19:29Speaker 1: The vet doesn't do the procedure. He has his techs
- 19:32Speaker 1: handle things like this. So anyway, the part that I
- 19:36Speaker 1: don't look forward to is as he fights, and he
- 19:40Speaker 1: fights the entire time, the nails that he has are
- 19:43Speaker 1: so long. They're like razor blades. They're like talons at
- 19:47Speaker 1: this point. And I have– I don't– I don't know
- 19:51Speaker 1: if you can see this on the camera.
- 19:53Speaker 2: I've got a scar.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I have a permanent scar.
- 19:56Speaker 2: There's a shadow right where you're showing it.
- 19:58Speaker 1: It runs from my knee almost down to my ankle
- 20:02Speaker 1: where he got me last time.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Did it hurt? Oh, no.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I didn't even know I had done it because it
- 20:09Speaker 1: was so sharp. Yeah.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Do you know why? Does your dog have red hair
- 20:14Speaker 2: by chance? Brown.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Okay.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Have you ever heard the redhead pain tolerance? I had
- 20:20Speaker 2: never heard this, and I heard it from a buddy
- 20:22Speaker 2: last week. He said, even though I'm gray now, I'm
- 20:26Speaker 2: naturally a redhead.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Which is me, and I've got some gray going now, too.
- 20:30Speaker 2: That's why I'm telling you this. So I go, yeah,
- 20:35Speaker 2: what's the deal? He said, when they had to put
- 20:36Speaker 2: me under for this procedure, it wasn't working. And they
- 20:40Speaker 2: gave me more. And he goes, Doc, I can still
- 20:44Speaker 2: feel it. He goes, you may not notice and said
- 20:47Speaker 2: what I just said. You may not notice because of
- 20:49Speaker 2: the gray hair, but I'm a redhead. And the doctor
- 20:51Speaker 2: called on. I just Googled it. People, just to make
- 20:55Speaker 2: sure he was right, people with natural red hair process
- 20:59Speaker 2: pain differently than others because due to mutations in MC1R gene.
- 21:06Speaker 2: His pain threshold is way up here.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I've never heard this, but speaking for myself, I think
- 21:15Speaker 1: I have a pretty high pain tolerance myself. I'll put
- 21:19Speaker 1: up with a lot of stuff before I eventually go,
- 21:21Speaker 1: all right, I got to go get something done. It's
- 21:23Speaker 1: got to be to the point where I just am incapacitated.
- 21:27Speaker 2: There's different things, Pat. where it affects redheads differently. Thermal
- 21:33Speaker 2: and cold pain, redheads are often more sensitive to heat
- 21:38Speaker 2: and cold pain. Electric shocks and pressure, redheads show less sensitivity.
- 21:45Speaker 1: So I could go stick my finger in that socket
- 21:47Speaker 1: over there and it's like, let's rock.
- 21:48Speaker 2: You sure can.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Ride the lightning, baby.
- 21:50Speaker 2: You can stick your wiener in there if you'd like.
- 21:52Speaker 1: That I won't do.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I won't tell anybody.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Hey, what happened to Lynch? He electrocuted himself.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Hey. Dental and local anesthetics, I know you've never had dental,
- 22:02Speaker 2: but local anesthetics like lidocaine or Novocaine are often less
- 22:07Speaker 2: effective for redheads. So this guy that was talking to
- 22:10Speaker 2: a friend of mine, redhead, I'd never heard that, and
- 22:13Speaker 2: I heard it last week.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I'd never heard it either, and I am a redhead.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe that's why you didn't feel that scratch as
- 22:19Speaker 2: much as you might have. That was just one of
- 22:21Speaker 2: those surface ones, because I've had them too, where all
- 22:24Speaker 2: of a sudden you have blood all in your socks.
- 22:26Speaker 2: You're like, what the hell? And you've got this bloodline
- 22:29Speaker 2: down your leg.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Well, my short-term goal to wrap this up is to
- 22:33Speaker 1: emerge tomorrow without any new additional scarring.
- 22:36Speaker 2: So it's today.
- 22:39Speaker 1: No, today we're doing our podcast right now. I'm taking
- 22:43Speaker 1: the dog tomorrow to have the nails cut. The chill
- 22:46Speaker 1: protocol starts today.
- 22:47Speaker 2: The emerging tomorrow I won't see, but Monday for our
- 22:52Speaker 2: listeners and I.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Come back in here Monday with no additional scarring.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Thank you for the clarification. If you do the Bob plan,
- 22:59Speaker 2: it's just like lewd water. It worked. You get a
- 23:02Speaker 2: couple extra doggy pills. Just mention to him, hey, you
- 23:05Speaker 2: can ask your vet techs. Even though you said he
- 23:07Speaker 2: doesn't work on them, tell him, ask your vet techs.
- 23:09Speaker 2: This dog is crazy. I think we need to go
- 23:13Speaker 2: on extra couple pills. You watch. I know a guy
- 23:16Speaker 2: who writes prescriptions.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I'll let you know.
- 23:18Speaker 2: How it goes. He's a life coach.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Yeah, he is.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Just blank pads laying around.
- 23:24Speaker 2: That's it.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Anyway. All right. That'll do it for this episode of
- 23:29Speaker 1: Off the Air with Lynch and Taco. We usually update
- 23:32Speaker 1: these pretty much every Thursday, unless we're on vacation or something. Hey,
- 23:36Speaker 1: and you know what?
- 23:36Speaker 2: When you're asking your vet for those couple extra pills.
- 23:39Speaker 1: What do you need?
- 23:39Speaker 2: Want to get your buddy one?
- 23:43Speaker 1: What's Bob on now? Something from my vet. You'll try anything.
- 23:48Speaker 2: It's like, chill pill or something. Doggy chill pill. All right.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Academy.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Perfect. All right.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Have a great rest of your day. Thanks for checking
- 24:00Speaker 1: out our off the air podcast. We'll see.
