Latest / Stop Chasing Start Attracting with Robyn Cavallaro / Real Estate Agents Are Overcomplicating AI. My Takeaway from the Orlando Real Estate Convention
Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: I'm at the real estate conference this week and after sitting through several rebar camp sessions yesterday I realized something.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: I think real estate agents are making this way harder than it needs to be.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: And if you don't know me, my name is Robin Cavallero.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: I started selling real estate at 56 with no real estate background, sphere of influence, anything.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Built that business largely by becoming visible, creating content, and establishing myself as an authority in my local market.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: There are people all around me here.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: So when I hear agents talking about all the AI tools and automations and workflows and technology they think they need to grow their businesses, I look at it a little differently.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Because I think we're skipping a step.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Before you automate the business, you have to create the business, right?
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And if you want more, you have to reach more.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: So at the Rebar camp, if you've ever been to this type of format, it's really it's peer-to-peer.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: So they have a specific subject, and then everyone in the audience discusses their challenges, and we go through the forum, and everyone puts their input.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: And it's instead of someone lecturing you in front of the room, driving the conversation, it's actually people asking the questions, which I found very helpful.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: But what I did hear is a lot of sophisticated things being discussed.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: AI agents, Claude Cowork, automation, Chat GBT, Gemini, workflows, CRMs, all the some of the things that we actually need in our business, but sophisticated processes and how to set it up.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: And some of this stuff was really incredible.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: The information that we got from it was really good.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: But I kept thinking, do most agents actually need all of this right now?
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Because if you're trying to grow your business, I'm not convinced your biggest problem is that you haven't automated your email yet.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Having AI read your emails, draft responses, create workflows is great.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: And I've done it.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: You know, it can be incredibly useful.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: But here's the question that I would ask first.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: How many emails are you actually answering every day?
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: If you're answering five, ten emails, do you really need to spend several hours figuring out how to build an AI agent that can automate that?
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Open the email, read it, if you need to respond to it, go to Chachi Beach Claude Gemini, tell it what you wanted to respond, and let it write the email and then send it out.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Review it for accuracy, and then you're done.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: You didn't spend hours.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: And when you think about it, I don't automate my email.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: I just go through the couple that I need to respond to, and here's why.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: If I'm going through a transaction and there's a lot of going back and forth, my transaction coordinator handles that.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: I read it so I know what's going on, but she is the one that's responding.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: So I just need to get to my customers.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: And I use AI constantly, every day, all day long in my business.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: For my real estate business and for this.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: And there's a difference.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Automation should solve the problem.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: An actual bottleneck in your business that's stopping you from gaining new leads.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: It shouldn't become another project that keeps you from creating business.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Because that's the game.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: And when does your business get busy enough that your transactions, paperwork, and emails start consuming your day?
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: I think there's another question you need to ask.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Do you need an automation or do you need another person?
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: And for me, the perfect example is a good transaction coordinator.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: And while you're handling a lot of transactions, somebody has to manage the paperwork.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: The deadlines, the documents, emails, lenders, inspections, repair requests, title companies, inspectors, you get it.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: All of these moving pieces have a transaction coordinator if you already don't have that.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Now that's going to cut down on your email.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: So think about it at the end.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: How many emails do you really need to automate?
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: And I'm not saying that automation isn't good, but I think you need to put it into perspective with how much time you're going to spend a couple of hours trying to set up this automation, and trust me, I've done it and it stopped working.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: I had to go back and do it again.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: So you're going to set spend hours setting it up and maintaining it to save what, 10 minutes?
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Meeting clients, winning listings, showing homes, creating content that shows you're the expert, building relationships, having conversations, and generating that next opportunity is where you need to focus.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Technology should be your leverage, but people can be leveraged too much, and then you're in digital clutter.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Object isn't to automate everything, it's to protect your time so you can spend it on the things that actually move your business forward.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: So that brings me to something else that really stood out during these conversations.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Agents are doing a lot, and a lot of this is good.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Community events, networking, open houses, I hate open houses, sponsorships, classes, client events.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Those things really matter.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: And I absolutely believe that you should be involving yourself in your community.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: It's very, very important.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: But we also have to be willing to ask ourselves, how many people am I actually reaching?
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Because you can spend three hours at a community event and have maybe five or ten really good conversations, and that's valuable.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: But are those relationships they may convert into business, but it may just people having a good time.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: And if your goal is substantially to grow your real estate business, you eventually have to reach beyond the people that have to be standing in front of the room with you.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: And that's where content becomes incredibly powerful.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: You might talk to, again, you speak to 10 people at an event, but one good video could reach 500 people, 5,000 people, maybe 50,000 people.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: And unlike an event that ends up at 5 o'clock, the video can continue working for you tomorrow, next week, next month, it's evergreen content.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: And even I have people watching videos that I made years ago.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Community involvement builds relationship, but content builds reach, it builds authority, and you need both because if you want more, you have to reach more.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: But I want to be very clear about something.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: If you're happy with your production, how much money you're making, the amount of time you can have to spend with free time and not work time, then what you're doing is giving you the life you want.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: You don't need to change anything.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Don't start making your life more complicated.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: You don't need another AI tool because somebody at a conference told you about it.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: You don't need to start making videos because I'm telling you to.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Just keep doing what's working.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: But if you're sitting there saying, I need more leads, I want to make more money, I want to expand my business, then something has to change.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: And for a lot of agents, I don't think the answer is another automation.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: I think it's more visibility.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: No, I know it's more visibility.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: More authority, more useful content, more conversations, and it's not one-on-one conversation.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: I am having a conversation with you right here, and we're doing on video.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: I don't know you, you've never met me.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Because ultimately, if you want more, you have to reach more.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: I keep saying that through this whole video.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: And I'm not talking about just reaching more people.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: You have to reach the right people with something worth paying attention to, right?
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: So if you're listening this because you're thinking, okay, I don't even know where I'm getting stuck, then I have something for you.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: I want you to start with my free agent authority assessment.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: It's gonna look at six different areas of your business.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: I call my six pillars of authority.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Visibility, positioning, content, credibility, and your ability to actually attract opportunities.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: You'll see where you're strong and more importantly, where you have gaps.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: And then you want to know what you actually need to work on next.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: And if you're ready to take that further, actually build this with me.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: That's what we do inside of my Agent Authority lab.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: But start with the assessment, it's free, because before you add another tool, another automation, another CRM, or another strategy is gonna make you nuts, you need to know where your problem is and actually how to solve it.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: I'm Robin Cavallaro.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: Thank you for joining me.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna go in and finish up this uh trade show here.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: It's the trade show today and a couple more classes, and get that agent authority assessment, and I'll see you next time.
