Transcript
- 0:15Hello my fellow nurse. It is Megan from Vigilante Vibes
- 0:18and today I want to talk about Eyes of Wakanda, which released
- 0:21this morning, which was weird because I could have sworn
- 0:24Marvel said 9:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, but they released
- 0:28it very early this morning and I already got to watch all four
- 0:31and they are so great I love it. They remind me of the What If
- 0:38show the episodes do, because each episode of what If is not
- 0:41linear in the story, but they all kind of tie together at the
- 0:44end, which is what they did here and I really liked it.
- 0:48A lot of it 4 episodes and I say a lot of it's 4 episodes, but
- 0:55majority of the episodes put you right in the middle of the
- 0:57action. You get to know all of these
- 0:58interesting characters. We get to see an iron fist.
- 1:01Who is Drani? I thought it was going to be the
- 1:06pirate queen of Ping High Bay and I even made a whole episode
- 1:11about her which released today. So egg on my face.
- 1:16But hey, you get to learn about another Iron Fist, whatever.
- 1:20There's a lot that happens in these episodes, but I think the
- 1:23biggest thing I took from it is that they really nailed the fact
- 1:27that Wakanda isn't just the Black Panther.
- 1:32It's so much more. There's such a rich history.
- 1:34There's the War Dogs, which is what the whole show is about is
- 1:37the War Dogs. And if you'll remember,
- 1:41Killmonger's father and Black Panther movie was a war dog.
- 1:45So that gives you a little bit of context.
- 1:48And Speaking of Killmonger, the entire show links back to
- 1:54Killmonger like the end show, the end, the ending of the
- 1:58fourth episode is Killmonger, which it was masterfully done.
- 2:02I love what they did. I loved it.
- 2:06Like I said, each episode is different.
- 2:08You get to know these different characters.
- 2:10My favorite one is, I think it's the third episode with Basha,
- 2:13who turns out to be an F boy who sleeps with Jorani and then dips
- 2:22the next morning without so much as a goodbye.
- 2:25And their their dynamic is very funny 'cause she's like, I
- 2:29seduced you. He's and he's like, I seduced
- 2:31you. It was cute.
- 2:33I liked it. I liked what was going on there.
- 2:34But also we got to see a really great interpretation of Iron
- 2:39Fist, which I think is pretty needed after Danny Rand and
- 2:46Marvel shows. I, I liked what Finn did with
- 2:51Danny Rand, but I I don't like what he OK, I liked him as Danny
- 2:58Rand, but I think he could have done better.
- 3:01I mean he even has some of the same mannerisms that you see in
- 3:04the comics of Iron Fist. But I just wish the writing was
- 3:08better. I wish he would have done
- 3:09better. I wish he was at Colleen Wings
- 3:12standards, if you understand what that means.
- 3:16So there, that's that. But yeah, I really, really liked
- 3:21it. All four episodes were
- 3:23action-packed. They were.
- 3:25I'm not usually an animated fan, not not a big animation fan, but
- 3:29I will say this really kept my attention really well.
- 3:32The art of it was beautifully done.
- 3:34We got really gorgeous looks at Wakanda.
- 3:37That's outside of what we usually see in the Wakanda
- 3:41movies. We found some really great
- 3:46compelling characters who I think was the most compelling
- 3:48was the first war dog, who her story is shown in the first
- 3:54episode is Nani. And she kind of stays around for
- 3:59the 4 episodes. Like she's not in all four, but
- 4:01she's her presence is felt. But yeah, it was beautifully
- 4:07done. And they did bring in Black
- 4:09Panther, not to Chala, not to chalk up it was I don't know if
- 4:14it ever said her name. I do not know, but she was in
- 4:20this episode, she was the last Black Panther, and that was also
- 4:24wonderfully handled. What's interesting about the
- 4:29show is that, well, first of all, it's 100% on Rotten
- 4:33Tomatoes as of now, which is bananas.
- 4:37But also, it has absolutely nothing to do with the overlying
- 4:41story of the MCU, which I really, really hope they do more
- 4:48of. It has nothing to do with
- 4:50Doomsday. It leads nowhere to Secret Wars.
- 4:51It has no impact on any movie or show.
- 4:54It's just its own thing. And I really, really want to see
- 4:57that happen more because Marvel's history is so rich with
- 5:01all of these characters that we should be able to see even if
- 5:04they're not involved in Doomsday or Secret Wars.
- 5:08I liked it, I dug it, I thought it was great.
- 5:11So I do wish it was more than 4 episodes because the episodes
- 5:16are 31 minutes each and you know, give like they're really
- 5:21long credits, like 2425 minutes each.
- 5:25It wasn't much to work with, but what they did give us was
- 5:29powerful. So I, I dug it, I liked it.
- 5:34I want to see these characters again, but there's absolutely no
- 5:36way because it was an ancient Wakanda.
- 5:39There's just, there's no way. But it, it was good.
- 5:43It was well worth the wait. I am interested in why Marvel
- 5:48moved it up by three weeks and then dropped it early again by
- 5:53dropping it this morning. But I just want to, I want to be
- 5:56a family on the wall for a lot of these things.
- 5:59But besides all that, I think it was great.
- 6:02I highly recommend it if you are a Black Panther fan, a Marvel
- 6:06fan, a Wakanda fan, definitely check it out because it gives
- 6:09you a whole new appreciation for the Dora Milaje.
- 6:12It gives you a new appreciation for the people of Wakanda and
- 6:14the history of Wakanda. So that is my review.
