- 0:00Back with a heart. Ottle Group post game show. Chris Daley has joined
- 0:02us for the daily recap down in the Hot Pink today. Nice look little
- 0:07Papa color on a cold day. There you go. Good effort by your
- 0:10team today. Welcome back to gamble. Yes, we haven't been here.
- 0:13This is our first Big East game here, right, Yeah, first game
- 0:16since December sixth. Yeah, you played ball State. It's great to be
- 0:20home. Everybody showed up. I give the students a lot of credit to
- 0:23wait in line. I would not do that personally, but you know,
- 0:28they were at early and we just really appreciate everybody coming out. It's not
- 0:32you know, this is one of those days you'd rather probably sit at home
- 0:36and watch on TV. So it was great. It was a great environment,
- 0:39and we're happy to be home. Solid effort by your starters today,
- 0:43I mean the efficiency of Page Aliyah. By the way, congratulations on the
- 0:47free throws twenty three of twenty four today. I know you take credit for
- 0:50this, so I know that now I don't. But year two, yeah,
- 0:54well, we're a good shooting team. So when we don't shoot free
- 0:59throws, well, uh, that's a little frustrating, you know, because
- 1:02those are free points. So having Page at times be a fifty percent free
- 1:06throw shooter during the game is I let her hear about that on a regular
- 1:10basis. But today I thought we shot the ball well. Didn't shoot the
- 1:15ball great from the three point line on thing just three today. Yeah,
- 1:19but you know, I think overall we played pretty well. I'm talking about
- 1:23you mentioned it before with us Nica. Well, once again, she set
- 1:26the tone early with her defense on people's and it just was I thought she
- 1:32was tenacious. Yeah, she you know, and because she takes that assignment
- 1:38personally, she does never she does not want to switch, and part of
- 1:42our game plan we were supposed to switch, and she wouldn't. So I'm
- 1:46sure the first thing she said when she went in the locker room was to
- 1:49herself or to her teammates. The points she got were not on me.
- 1:57I she got eight. I think she got finished with none. It wasn't
- 2:01early on when it when it mattered, she she was. She takes great
- 2:05pride in that, and she did a terrific job b locking. And she's
- 2:09not you know, she's not a great shooter, but she certainly she does
- 2:13everything well for them. She pushes the ball, she rebounds it. She's
- 2:16physical, not a three points threat so much. But I thought Nica took
- 2:23her out of her. It's a different technically, a different matchup for in
- 2:27the sense not the point guard or where she does said she likes, she
- 2:30likes to post up so that you know, she plays the four for them
- 2:34and on the defensive end. So yeah, it was a good It was
- 2:37a good challenge, and I thought she did a good job. Chris the
- 2:40defense again, and you turn them over a lot, and you make them
- 2:43pay thirty seven more points off turnovers. I think that's like three of the
- 2:46last four games you've got at least thirty points off turnovers. Yeah, I
- 2:50mean that's really Those are effort plays. Those are plays where you're reading the
- 2:55passing lanes, you're anticipating things and making making just good basketball players. So
- 3:01when we can do that, it were difficult because we want to get out
- 3:06into transition. I was a little disappointed that they got out on us and
- 3:08transition a couple of times, because you know, the next couple of teams
- 3:13we play, you really want to get out, you know, and get
- 3:15out and run. So we have to really concentrate on that, getting ready
- 3:19for more cap the fact able to get everybody to play, and not at
- 3:23the end of the game, but early on you were getting people in there
- 3:28just you know, Brady more minutes, you know, Samuel's an opportunity to
- 3:32get to get them a look if down the road you may need them for
- 3:37minutes here and there. Well, and you know, I think trying to
- 3:40balance out between giving the starters enough time to get into a rhythm with each
- 3:45other, but also giving opportunities and being able to mix it up. So
- 3:49we we I thought, did a pretty good job of mixing our bench players
- 3:53with the starters and then giving them a chance to play as a unit.
- 3:57So overall, you know, I think there was really balance balanced minutes wise.
- 4:03And you know, heading into this is a long stretch and I think
- 4:05you're going to see it with our freshman probably hitting that freshman wall soon and
- 4:11uh well hopefully not, but it probably will happen. So we're trying to,
- 4:15you know, manage that as best we can. Big stretch coming up.
- 4:18You've got Marquette first thing on Tuesday in Milwaukee, the Notre Dame here,
- 4:23then Villanova. Yeah, it'd be an easy stretch for this team.
- 4:26No, it really isn't and uh, you know, and as you're getting
- 4:30to this part this season, it's probably as much mental as it is physical.
- 4:33So you have to really prepare mentally because there's not a whole lot that,
- 4:39you know, with with nine players that we can do. I mean,
- 4:42we do practice, and we practice hard, but in terms of duration
- 4:46of how long we can practice and being ready to go, so we really
- 4:49have to, you know, control what we can control and make sure we
- 4:55have a solid game plan and then execute it. And certainly we we play
- 5:00well against Marquette here and I'm sure they're going to remember that, so it's
- 5:03going to be a battle on Tuesday. He's happened to see it allbreak.
- 5:08It was great to see her. You may have seen it or for us
- 5:10though. It was just fun to see her. So how everybody's doing great?
- 5:13Yeah, yeah, she's doing great. She so it feels like I
- 5:17started during the winter everything. It feels like she had surgery months ago and
- 5:20it was just a week. It'll be a week maybe a week, but
- 5:26she's doing well. Yeah, So I you know, I think it's good
- 5:28for when injured players are able to be around the team. I think that
- 5:32helps them, It helps the team, but it certainly helps them and they're
- 5:35with their spirits and being able to, you know, keep doing the rehab
- 5:40because it's not easy. It's a it can be a lonely a lonely time
- 5:43to do rehab, but you know, as long as they stay connected,
- 5:46it'll be a positive and they'll get through it. How's Caroline doing. She's
- 5:50doing well good. It's good to see her around and you know, finally
- 5:55be able to come to a game and hang out with her teammates and support
- 5:58them. Ye been tough, right, We'll see it tuesday, Milwaukee First.
- 6:01Thank you as always,
