- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Eds with Eddie Judge and Edwin Adoyavi.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome back, buddy.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's good to be back. It's been a while.
- 0:08Speaker 1: It's been way too long. I missed you last time
- 0:10Speaker 1: in Napa. It would have been so much fun to
- 0:13Speaker 1: have you there and enjoy that moment. But there are
- 0:15Speaker 1: gonna be other future moments that we can have fun together.
- 0:18Speaker 1: In the podcast. Today we have Jody Glidden and Jody
- 0:24Speaker 1: Glinton is a veteran tech entrepreneur and co founder of
- 0:27Speaker 1: intro Hive, Postulized, split Well, and several other business ventures.
- 0:32Speaker 1: He is currently dating Lisa. I can't say her last name,
- 0:37Speaker 1: but everybody knows Lisa from Miami Housewives. And welcome Jody.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Great, thank you, Great to have you, Jody, Thank you
- 0:48Speaker 3: awesome again.
- 0:50Speaker 1: So Jody, listen. I don't know if you've listened to
- 0:53Speaker 1: our podcast, but as I mentioned earlier, it's all about you, man,
- 0:58Speaker 1: So talk about your yourself as much as you'd want,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and tell us all about yourself. I think the first
- 1:04Speaker 1: question that we want to know is who is Jody
- 1:06Speaker 1: Glinton and where did you grow up? Well?
- 1:09Speaker 4: You for sure, so I grew up in a little
- 1:12Speaker 4: town in eastern Canada and so kind of like a
- 1:17Speaker 4: little bit of a fishing and forestry town.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It was. It was a nice upbringing.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I think we would, you know.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Play with motorcycles in the woods and you know, do
- 1:28Speaker 4: all that kind of stuff.
- 1:29Speaker 2: It was.
- 1:29Speaker 3: It was fun.
- 1:30Speaker 4: At a certain point during I don't know, maybe I
- 1:33Speaker 4: was eight years old or something, my parents got me
- 1:36Speaker 4: a computer and so I ended up learning to program
- 1:41Speaker 4: do it for fun, like for a hobby, kind of
- 1:43Speaker 4: part time. And then whenever, you know, we were all
- 1:47Speaker 4: graduating high school and everybody was trying to figure what
- 1:49Speaker 4: they were going to do for their life. It was
- 1:51Speaker 4: the early nineties, and I started realizing, actually, you can
- 1:54Speaker 4: make a business out of this, you know, maybe maybe
- 1:56Speaker 4: I could actually make a living out of that.
- 1:58Speaker 3: And that's how I ended up getting into tech.
- 2:00Speaker 1: That's awesome. Sounds like the Bill Gates Steve Young story.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I think right place, right time, Well, wrong place,
- 2:06Speaker 4: right Yeah.
- 2:08Speaker 3: So there was no check going on in Eastern Canada
- 2:10Speaker 3: at that time. I had to leave.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Really, you're speaking my language. Because I love the outdoors
- 2:15Speaker 1: and I wish more than anything, like my number one
- 2:18Speaker 1: thing I could do for the rest of my life
- 2:20Speaker 1: is ride my dirt bike in the woods all day long.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Oh, it was so much fun.
- 2:24Speaker 4: And I think like so often now as parents, we
- 2:27Speaker 4: shelter our kids and don't let them get into trouble
- 2:30Speaker 4: or don't let them get hurt. But it was those
- 2:32Speaker 4: times like being out, you know, with our motorcycle or whatever,
- 2:36Speaker 4: like our little dirt bike and somebody.
- 2:37Speaker 3: It's just like it was fun times.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it's funny. I still try to wrap my head
- 2:42Speaker 1: around that, Like why in my generation, and I think
- 2:46Speaker 1: in Edwin's generation too, it's like, well, how are you
- 2:49Speaker 1: Jody fifty one? Yeah, you're the same generation, same same age.
- 2:53Speaker 1: So you know, we were told get the hell out
- 2:56Speaker 1: of the house, don't come back until the lights go out,
- 2:59Speaker 1: and generation like, we don't let him go anywhere. You know,
- 3:02Speaker 1: we got to watch every movie, We got to take
- 3:05Speaker 1: him everywhere. And it just doesn't make any sense to me.
- 3:08Speaker 4: And actually, I think when you look at the numbers,
- 3:11Speaker 4: it's it's a much safer, you know, time that we
- 3:13Speaker 4: live in now, But we just don't see it that way.
- 3:16Speaker 4: I come back from school, I drop my book bag,
- 3:18Speaker 4: we go out playing sports and you know, get home
- 3:20Speaker 4: at like ten or eleven at night, and.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I think if Peyton were to do that, I would
- 3:25Speaker 3: just go nut. You know.
- 3:26Speaker 5: Yeah, when you say eastern, your Eastern Canada is that
- 3:31Speaker 5: close to Toronto or yeah.
- 3:34Speaker 4: I mean it's really it would be a ten hour
- 3:36Speaker 4: drive east of Toronto. And then eventually I did move
- 3:40Speaker 4: to Toronto. But yeah, Canada's just such a big land mass,
- 3:44Speaker 4: you know. It's yeah, it's kind of Toronto is kind
- 3:47Speaker 4: of north of New York, but then you can still
- 3:49Speaker 4: drive another ten or twelve hours east of there.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Yeah, so you go from when you were born, what
- 3:55Speaker 5: took you to Toronto? And then how did you end
- 3:56Speaker 5: up in Miami?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Well?
- 3:58Speaker 5: That was Miami the first choice? Or did you ever
- 4:00Speaker 5: think of coming to Cali first or New York?
- 4:02Speaker 2: Or was it straight, Hey I'm going to Toronto, I'm
- 4:04Speaker 2: going to Miami. How did that come about?
- 4:06Speaker 3: Well?
- 4:06Speaker 4: I started I started out creating a tech company in Fredericton,
- 4:10Speaker 4: where I did my undergrad and Fredericton New Brunswick, which
- 4:13Speaker 4: is a little, you know, a little university town sort of,
- 4:16Speaker 4: and I didn't know anything about business or anything about
- 4:20Speaker 4: raising money or any of those things. So I thought
- 4:22Speaker 4: it was a perfectly fine place to build a business,
- 4:25Speaker 4: and we were selling to all these international customers and
- 4:28Speaker 4: we were, you know, making a profit because we didn't
- 4:31Speaker 4: know any other way back then. And then and then eventually,
- 4:35Speaker 4: just through building tech companies, you start to realize if
- 4:39Speaker 4: you want to raise money, you kind of have to
- 4:40Speaker 4: raise money in San Francisco. And you know, there was
- 4:43Speaker 4: a little bit of money at that point starting to
- 4:45Speaker 4: come into tech in Toronto and places like that. But
- 4:48Speaker 4: I moved to Toronto really for my third tech company.
- 4:53Speaker 4: So I did two tech companies in Frederickton and sold them.
- 4:57Speaker 4: And then I think when I was maybe in my
- 5:00Speaker 4: maybe late twenties or so, is when I moved to
- 5:03Speaker 4: Toronto and then San Francisco.
- 5:06Speaker 5: So Toronto, San Francisco, then Miami. So what took you
- 5:08Speaker 5: from San Francisco to Miami?
- 5:11Speaker 4: The women, Well, uh no, when I got to San Francisco,
- 5:14Speaker 4: it was like really cool. It was a lot of fun.
- 5:17Speaker 4: Everybody just talked tech the whole time. I started to
- 5:20Speaker 4: find it a little bit tiring, just you know, everybody
- 5:24Speaker 4: talking work all the time. It was kind of like
- 5:27Speaker 4: it was fun at first, but then yeah, eventually it
- 5:29Speaker 4: grows tiring.
- 5:30Speaker 3: So I was kind of thinking about moving.
- 5:33Speaker 4: I was married at the time, she didn't really want
- 5:37Speaker 4: to stay there anymore. The dot com crash happened, and
- 5:41Speaker 4: I thought, well, maybe this is the time to move.
- 5:44Speaker 4: So we did a short stint back in Canada and
- 5:47Speaker 4: then ended up back in Washington, d C.
- 5:49Speaker 3: So my next.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Startup, the third one, was focused on selling to the federal,
- 5:55Speaker 4: state and local government.
- 5:57Speaker 3: So you know, DC was where.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Back then I would just anywhere where I thought it
- 6:01Speaker 4: would improve our chances of a good life, And so
- 6:04Speaker 4: I moved to DC and.
- 6:05Speaker 3: We were there for seven years. That's where my daughter
- 6:07Speaker 3: was born.
- 6:08Speaker 1: But you were young when you got married, because that
- 6:11Speaker 1: comment was two thousand.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like, I think I was
- 6:15Speaker 3: twenty six or twenty seven years old.
- 6:18Speaker 5: Did that white be out by the way, and do
- 6:20Speaker 5: you have to start all over or did you do
- 6:22Speaker 5: okay with during that crash?
- 6:24Speaker 4: No, No, it was I sold the business, the second business,
- 6:27Speaker 4: right before the crash, so it was.
- 6:30Speaker 3: That was it was fine. I was just living on
- 6:33Speaker 3: savings for a few years.
- 6:34Speaker 4: You know, I didn't bother trying to start another business
- 6:37Speaker 4: or get another job for a few years because it
- 6:39Speaker 4: just the market just looked terrible and I didn't think
- 6:43Speaker 4: it was probably possible.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:45Speaker 5: Now I also read some did you go to Harvard?
- 6:47Speaker 5: Did you get your masters from Harvard?
- 6:49Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 6:49Speaker 4: I did my masters at Harvard. I had I learned
- 6:53Speaker 4: to fly like small airplanes, like a little four seater.
- 6:58Speaker 3: I bought a serious s.
- 6:59Speaker 4: R twenty two and and so I used to fly
- 7:01Speaker 4: from Washington, d C. Back and forth to Boston. And
- 7:05Speaker 4: so I did my master's degree. At the time, you know,
- 7:08Speaker 4: it was funny because I had I had built and
- 7:10Speaker 4: sold businesses and all that, and I already knew kind
- 7:13Speaker 4: of what I was doing at that point.
- 7:14Speaker 3: But my mom, she had six kids.
- 7:17Speaker 4: I was one of them. I was the only one
- 7:19Speaker 4: that went to college. She seemed so proud when I
- 7:22Speaker 4: did my undergrad degree. I thought, well, I bet she'd
- 7:25Speaker 4: be really proud if I, you know, if I did
- 7:27Speaker 4: my master's degree. And so I went and did that,
- 7:29Speaker 4: and then I realized she didn't even know what Harvard was.
- 7:32Speaker 1: So, so you mentioned your siblings. Are they back in
- 7:39Speaker 1: Canada or some of them migrated here as well?
- 7:42Speaker 4: Yeah, they're they're all back in Canada, but they come
- 7:44Speaker 4: to Florida. Most of them come to Florida for the
- 7:47Speaker 4: for the winter. So yeah, it's nice. I'm in Miami
- 7:50Speaker 4: and they're kind of in the Orlando area.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Usually, how often do you get to see them?
- 7:55Speaker 3: I mean, I used to.
- 7:57Speaker 4: When I was building my businesses up there, I would
- 7:59Speaker 4: I'd have the majority of my head count up in
- 8:01Speaker 4: Eastern Canada.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I'd get up there all the time.
- 8:04Speaker 4: When COVID hit, I started seeing them a little bit
- 8:06Speaker 4: less often because it kind of became difficult to get
- 8:10Speaker 4: back and forth across the border without you know, quarantining
- 8:14Speaker 4: and all this kind of stuff. And I got out
- 8:15Speaker 4: of the habit and then they, at the same time
- 8:18Speaker 4: started spending their their winters in Florida. So I think
- 8:22Speaker 4: the combination of those two things that I stopped going
- 8:25Speaker 4: up to Canada as much as I as I used to,
- 8:27Speaker 4: and now I started focusing a little bit more on
- 8:29Speaker 4: like this last few years of my career, I'm trying
- 8:31Speaker 4: to just make as much as I can to try
- 8:35Speaker 4: to set myself up and you know, and I want to,
- 8:38Speaker 4: you know, with everything that's happening with AI, I want
- 8:41Speaker 4: to try to make sure that I set up our
- 8:42Speaker 4: family as well as I can.
- 8:43Speaker 1: You know, Yeah, yeah, it's the next next boom.
- 8:48Speaker 5: What drove you to want to start to become an
- 8:50Speaker 5: entrepreneur versus just you know nine to five are working
- 8:53Speaker 5: for corporate.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 4: So so at first I started my mom's you know,
- 9:00Speaker 4: ultimate goal for me was to work at Sunny Corner
- 9:04Speaker 4: Mechanical because that was the big company in our town.
- 9:06Speaker 4: And so I got the job running it at Sunny
- 9:09Speaker 4: Corner Mechanical, and she was so proud. And I was
- 9:11Speaker 4: making I think fifteen dollars an hour or something, and
- 9:15Speaker 4: she was.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Like super proud and everything.
- 9:17Speaker 4: And then this I had these different Microsoft certifications and
- 9:22Speaker 4: I got a call from I guess somebody called Microsoft,
- 9:25Speaker 4: somebody that had started a Microsoft training company. They called
- 9:29Speaker 4: Microsoft and asked them who in the province of New
- 9:31Speaker 4: Brunswick might they want to talk to to partner up
- 9:35Speaker 4: with somebody, and they point they gave them my number.
- 9:38Speaker 4: I got a call unsolicited, ended up going to work
- 9:40Speaker 4: with this guy. I learned all about tech startups with him.
- 9:44Speaker 4: We sold that company, then I created my next one,
- 9:46Speaker 4: and it just got I was like, this is a
- 9:47Speaker 4: lot of fun. Both my parents were entrepreneurs in their
- 9:49Speaker 4: own way. My dad was more into like he had
- 9:53Speaker 4: a fire protection business, and my mom was had like
- 9:56Speaker 4: an esthetic salon, and my sisters all had hair salons
- 9:59Speaker 4: and they were, you know, they were all kind of
- 10:03Speaker 4: into the beauty industry.
- 10:05Speaker 1: So have you been motivated all your life as a kid.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, I was, like I remember when I was
- 10:12Speaker 4: a little kid, like having these little businesses all the time.
- 10:16Speaker 4: So one of them, when sports cards, like NBA trading
- 10:20Speaker 4: cards and NHL cards. I would like go and find
- 10:24Speaker 4: that there were these Becket guides that would tell you
- 10:26Speaker 4: what the price had moved to from week to week.
- 10:30Speaker 4: I would like figure out how to get the Beckut
- 10:32Speaker 4: Guide before everybody else got it a day before. So
- 10:34Speaker 4: I asked my mom if we could set her up
- 10:37Speaker 4: as a wholesaler, so we would get the back of
- 10:40Speaker 4: guide a day early. I'd figure out, like which cards
- 10:42Speaker 4: moved the most, and then I'd go drive around town
- 10:45Speaker 4: and try to buy up all the ones that.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Moved a lot. A few days, I made enough, I was,
- 10:50Speaker 3: I don't know, maybe I was twelve or thirteen.
- 10:51Speaker 4: I made enough to buy a car, like a few
- 10:53Speaker 4: years sooner than I could even drive nice.
- 10:56Speaker 3: I was always like trying to figure something.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Out because like I grew up like third poor, you know,
- 11:01Speaker 4: And so I would go to school, and everybody would
- 11:05Speaker 4: have like these certain shoes or these certain jeans or whatever.
- 11:07Speaker 4: And I was like, oh my god, I don't want
- 11:09Speaker 4: to not you know, have whatever it is.
- 11:12Speaker 3: So I just tried to figure it out of my own.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 5: So, did you make any money on the first time
- 11:17Speaker 5: you sold your company or were you did or was
- 11:20Speaker 5: it mostly the investors had made all the money? You know,
- 11:23Speaker 5: sometimes you get taken advantage of on your first time.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:26Speaker 4: I didn't have investors until my third business. So I
- 11:28Speaker 4: made some pretty good money in the first two businesses,
- 11:33Speaker 4: especially the second one because I had, you know, more ownership,
- 11:37Speaker 4: and but then I I was kind of spending money
- 11:42Speaker 4: at a rate that I shouldn't have been back then too.
- 11:45Speaker 3: And also I didn't we'll.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Just spend your money on by the way, we'll just
- 11:48Speaker 2: spend your money on I'm.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Curious taking three or four years of doing nothing, those
- 11:53Speaker 4: years where I was telling you the dot com crash happened,
- 11:56Speaker 4: and I was just like, who cares, you.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Know, there's nothing happening anyways, So yeah, bad about it.
- 12:03Speaker 5: I was wondering if you were like driving fast cars
- 12:06Speaker 5: getting bottle service everywhere different.
- 12:12Speaker 3: No, I was way too country for that I didn't
- 12:14Speaker 3: really know any of that in Miami.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Yeah, and now you're in Miami, so I'm sure you
- 12:20Speaker 5: know a little bit about it, right.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, especially you know, uh in the circles
- 12:26Speaker 4: now it's like everybody is you know, they're throwing events
- 12:31Speaker 4: on yachts and it's just like it's a crazy life.
- 12:35Speaker 4: I've never I never really expected. I mean, honestly, it
- 12:38Speaker 4: gets tiring. We're constantly we get like a million invites
- 12:43Speaker 4: to birthdays and different things, like every weekend. I'm sure
- 12:46Speaker 4: you guys know what it's like. Yeah, there's more things,
- 12:49Speaker 4: more invites than you can possibly you realize. Eventually, you
- 12:52Speaker 4: got to set your priorities on what you want to do,
- 12:55Speaker 4: and if your priorities are going to be family and business,
- 12:58Speaker 4: you can't get yourself distracted.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:01Speaker 1: That's actually a great point because I think Edwin would
- 13:05Speaker 1: agree with me. It's so much time and effort to
- 13:08Speaker 1: go walk the red carpet and you know, socialize and
- 13:12Speaker 1: meet people. And for us, I mean I could speak
- 13:15Speaker 1: for Edwin as well, there's no real value for our
- 13:18Speaker 1: businesses there. You know, we're not really going to I mean,
- 13:20Speaker 1: there is networking. If you're with the right people. But
- 13:24Speaker 1: most of the time when you're on those places, you
- 13:26Speaker 1: don't meet the right people. It's not our industry, right never, No.
- 13:31Speaker 3: And Lisa.
- 13:32Speaker 4: I realized Lisa gets called these things so often. It's
- 13:36Speaker 4: like a couple of times a week, there's some place
- 13:38Speaker 4: that you know wants her to come and help promote
- 13:41Speaker 4: it and think. So, you know, I was trying to
- 13:44Speaker 4: show off for her as much as I can, but yeah,
- 13:48Speaker 4: it's at the point where it becomes a distraction to
- 13:51Speaker 4: what you're trying to achieve, you know, and the business
- 13:53Speaker 4: that I'm in at all. The last two businesses that
- 13:57Speaker 4: I've been in have been focused on, you know, the
- 13:59Speaker 4: world largest law firms, world's largest consulting companies. There's no
- 14:05Speaker 4: contacts I'm going to meet, you know, promoting some makeup
- 14:08Speaker 4: line or something like that.
- 14:09Speaker 3: You can help me in my business.
- 14:20Speaker 2: You know. It's interesting.
- 14:21Speaker 5: I remember when I was on the show, we kept
- 14:23Speaker 5: getting we got invited everywhere, and I found myself, you know,
- 14:27Speaker 5: drinking four or five times a week because every event
- 14:30Speaker 5: I went to there's drinking, right, Yeah, And I remember
- 14:33Speaker 5: thinking to myself, what I have to drink at these
- 14:35Speaker 5: events and I won't be able to keep up. If
- 14:37Speaker 5: I come to these many events and then drink two
- 14:39Speaker 5: three drinks every event, that adds up to fifteen twenty
- 14:43Speaker 5: drinks a week. So that's what that's the reason I
- 14:46Speaker 5: decided to go sober for a year. I'm like, you
- 14:48Speaker 5: know what, I'm not going to drink for an entire year.
- 14:49Speaker 5: If I'm going to go to these events, I'm not
- 14:51Speaker 5: going to drink. But it's interesting. I replaced that with coffee.
- 14:54Speaker 5: I'd never had coffee before in my life. Oh and
- 14:57Speaker 5: then I was like, whoa, this is why people drink coffee,
- 14:59Speaker 5: Like I could actually be engaged in a conversation even
- 15:03Speaker 5: if they're drunk. I could still be engaged because I'm
- 15:05Speaker 5: having my coffee. But yeah, it was an interesting time
- 15:08Speaker 5: being sober for an entire year and going to all
- 15:10Speaker 5: these events. But that's why I actually didn't drink for
- 15:12Speaker 5: a year, because you.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Know, how I keep up with this?
- 15:14Speaker 1: How did the coffee affect the year?
- 15:16Speaker 2: Sleep?
- 15:17Speaker 5: That's the only thing that sort of screwed me up
- 15:19Speaker 5: because then I had a hard time sleeping. So I
- 15:21Speaker 5: was like, still, you know, uh, not the greatest, but
- 15:26Speaker 5: it did. It's funny that was my exchange for alcohol.
- 15:29Speaker 5: I just drank coffee.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, now I got smart and I'll do some iced
- 15:32Speaker 2: tea and not iced tea tea.
- 15:35Speaker 4: That was the hardest part for me when I when
- 15:37Speaker 4: I stopped drinking, was just the habit of like I
- 15:41Speaker 4: be in a crowd and and you feel like it's
- 15:45Speaker 4: it's kind of the social pressure where you're supposed to
- 15:47Speaker 4: have something in your hand and like people are asking you.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Like what do you drink?
- 15:50Speaker 4: Like, even if you do go and you just get soda,
- 15:52Speaker 4: water or whatever, people are like, well, what are you drinking? Yeah,
- 15:54Speaker 4: And if you tell them it's soa water, then they're like, oh,
- 15:58Speaker 4: come on, let's get you some tequila whatever. It's really
- 16:01Speaker 4: strange how much it bothers other people.
- 16:03Speaker 2: If you're not drinking, should you not drink anymore?
- 16:06Speaker 3: Barely?
- 16:07Speaker 4: Like I'll have half a drink or something if people
- 16:10Speaker 4: are really pressuring you know.
- 16:12Speaker 3: But yeah, mainly I'm trying. I've been on this kick.
- 16:14Speaker 4: For about a year where I've been trying to do
- 16:18Speaker 4: all these biomarker testing and everything and trying to help
- 16:22Speaker 4: with longevity as much as I can and get great workouts.
- 16:24Speaker 4: And I was finding that having a hangover or even
- 16:27Speaker 4: a couple of drinks. It affects your performance, and it's
- 16:30Speaker 4: just didn't align with what I want to do.
- 16:34Speaker 1: That's interesting. I did hear something about you getting into
- 16:37Speaker 1: the biohacking world, and I know that, especially Edwin and
- 16:42Speaker 1: I were into fitness, weren't to feeling good. There's nothing
- 16:46Speaker 1: better in life than feeling good naturally, right. I've experienced
- 16:51Speaker 1: the caffeine highs, I've experienced this supplement, and of course
- 16:55Speaker 1: there's so many things out there, substances if you will,
- 16:59Speaker 1: that will make you feel incredible. I haven't tried it,
- 17:02Speaker 1: but I heard adderall is one of the things that
- 17:05Speaker 1: just lights you up, makes you feel like you're on
- 17:07Speaker 1: top of the world, and it's legal.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. Yeah. I had.
- 17:13Speaker 4: A lot of problems concentrating whenever I was younger and everything,
- 17:16Speaker 4: and then when adderall came along, I went to my
- 17:18Speaker 4: doctor and.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Tried it for a while. But then what I found
- 17:22Speaker 3: is you're kind of like borrowing energy.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Today from tomorrow, and so it's kind of the same
- 17:27Speaker 4: thing where you'd feel great and focused and engaged with
- 17:31Speaker 4: people and stuff, and then the next day you're kind
- 17:33Speaker 4: of like crashed and not operating at one hundred percent
- 17:36Speaker 4: or at least for me. Yeah, So for me, I
- 17:39Speaker 4: find the best thing was if you can get a
- 17:43Speaker 4: long stint away from almost everything except for caffeine and
- 17:48Speaker 4: just there's a lot of research out there now that
- 17:51Speaker 4: creatine we all you stick creatine for like muscles and
- 17:53Speaker 4: stuff that actually curantine is one of the most effective
- 17:56Speaker 4: for the brain.
- 17:57Speaker 3: You probably read that the.
- 17:59Speaker 4: Things like things like that healthy any and like keeping
- 18:03Speaker 4: doing like meditation and breath work and stuff like that
- 18:05Speaker 4: to try to get your stress levels down. You'll start
- 18:09Speaker 4: operating a lot better cognitively. So it's you know, it's
- 18:13Speaker 4: almost you can almost achieve the same level of focus
- 18:16Speaker 4: and everything by just letting your body regulate.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I agree, I agree, And I'll add to that that
- 18:24Speaker 1: it doesn't work the same for everybody because we all
- 18:28Speaker 1: have different not just genetics but lifestyles.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, that's right.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I myself, and I grew up exercising my whole entire life,
- 18:38Speaker 1: so it's like brushing my teeth, and if I don't
- 18:40Speaker 1: do it, that's when I, you know, become unhinged and
- 18:44Speaker 1: a little bit of a bitch and you know, whine
- 18:46Speaker 1: about everything. And I know that my wife reminds me
- 18:49Speaker 1: of that but as soon as I go get a
- 18:51Speaker 1: good workout, get a good pump, and especially for me,
- 18:54Speaker 1: it's cardiovascular workouts when I'm running, cycling, or doing some
- 18:58Speaker 1: sort of exercise that gets my heart pumping, in my
- 19:00Speaker 1: brain just cleared. I can handle life much better that way.
- 19:06Speaker 1: But yeah, I think it's it's the history and background
- 19:09Speaker 1: of that whole regiment. You know, if you start working
- 19:13Speaker 1: out today, you're not going to love it as much
- 19:15Speaker 1: as somebody who's been doing it all their life. Right,
- 19:18Speaker 1: It's going to be sort of like an uphill both
- 19:20Speaker 1: ways battle. This is so hard. I can't continue this
- 19:23Speaker 1: for the rest of my life, So they'll give up
- 19:26Speaker 1: and go back to their old regimen, which is self
- 19:28Speaker 1: medication with alcohol or some sort of at least illicit
- 19:32Speaker 1: drug or you know, over the counter drug. But it's
- 19:35Speaker 1: it's just it's I think it's different for everybody with
- 19:39Speaker 1: respect to what lifestyle they live, how their body processes nutrients,
- 19:44Speaker 1: you know some of them, some of us are more
- 19:45Speaker 1: efficient than others, and of course what their long term
- 19:49Speaker 1: goal is. You know, at a young age, we don't
- 19:53Speaker 1: think about our fifty year old self, right.
- 19:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I was just thinking this to my daughter She's like,
- 19:59Speaker 4: what do you because I have all these selfles packed,
- 20:02Speaker 4: you know, on the trip to London here. Yeah, it's
- 20:04Speaker 4: like what are you doing with all these things all
- 20:06Speaker 4: the time? Like you'll understand maybe when you get closer
- 20:09Speaker 4: to my age.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Hey, at least it's not a bag full of pharmaceuticals
- 20:13Speaker 1: that you're taking. I mean, I can't tell you how
- 20:15Speaker 1: much I hate that. I've seen that. I witnessed it
- 20:18Speaker 1: and it just makes me cringe. You know. In my
- 20:21Speaker 1: perfect world, I wish I didn't have to take anything.
- 20:24Speaker 1: But again, I know that there's certain things I'm deficient
- 20:27Speaker 1: in that I don't get in my diet. I don't
- 20:29Speaker 1: eat a whole lot of fish, so I do take
- 20:31Speaker 1: Omega threes the supplements. I definitely do creatine, even though
- 20:36Speaker 1: I eat a lot of meat that meets my primary
- 20:38Speaker 1: source of fuel and nutrition. But I do take creatine
- 20:44Speaker 1: because of its beneficial returns. You know, it's it's worth it.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I also take yeah, and I also do supplement with electrolytes,
- 20:56Speaker 1: you know, mostly because I am a sweathog. I sweat
- 20:59Speaker 1: like mad, and I know I lose a lot a
- 21:02Speaker 1: lot of electrolytes and electrolytes you know, micronutrients are very
- 21:07Speaker 1: hard to replenish unlike macro nutrients, you know, So to me,
- 21:11Speaker 1: it's sort of like the safe feats like a like
- 21:15Speaker 1: a backup system for me, Like I'm just gonna have
- 21:19Speaker 1: my electrolytes in there, whether I need them or not,
- 21:21Speaker 1: because yeah, there's going to be days where I'm out
- 21:24Speaker 1: eight hours on my dirt bike and I'm sweating my
- 21:26Speaker 1: balls off and I'm having a great time. But afterwards
- 21:30Speaker 1: is the effect, right, Like why am I cramping?
- 21:33Speaker 4: And you know, like as we as we all age, right,
- 21:36Speaker 4: there's things that just happen to our bodies that so
- 21:39Speaker 4: for example, all of our testosterone gets low, our growth
- 21:42Speaker 4: hormone gets low.
- 21:44Speaker 3: There's all these things that happen to us that are
- 21:47Speaker 3: it's not good.
- 21:48Speaker 4: So there's there's things now that are coming down through
- 21:53Speaker 4: research and everything, like mylestat and inhibitors and you know,
- 21:58Speaker 4: ways for people to supplement their testosterone either through in
- 22:01Speaker 4: klomaphine or through testosterone itself or whatever.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Like there's a whole bunch of.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Ways to fix these things that to make you a
- 22:07Speaker 4: little bit more like your body chemist for you, like
- 22:09Speaker 4: when you're twenty, there's like the you know, people that
- 22:12Speaker 4: have they really do feel hunger in a way that
- 22:16Speaker 4: many of us might not. And and now there's like
- 22:20Speaker 4: ways to inhibit the feeling of hunger and all that
- 22:22Speaker 4: kind of stuff. So I just think that what's happening
- 22:25Speaker 4: in medicine is like pretty amazing.
- 22:27Speaker 3: So I'm not like.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Anti you know, medicine in any way or whatever. I'm
- 22:31Speaker 4: more like about I just want to measure what's going
- 22:33Speaker 4: on in my body. I love this function. I don't
- 22:36Speaker 4: know if you guys saw function the blood.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Tests, Yeah, I've heard of it.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty cool.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Like you can test, like, you know, a hundred different
- 22:43Speaker 4: biomarkers and you'll see like you're deficient in vitamin D
- 22:46Speaker 4: three and you're deficient in this and this and this,
- 22:49Speaker 4: and then you.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Can just correct it, you know, and it makes a
- 22:51Speaker 3: big difference.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Tell us about Lisa.
- 23:01Speaker 5: How did you meet Lisa. Let's get into let's get
- 23:05Speaker 5: into that good stuff.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Yeah, so I had I had broken up with well,
- 23:11Speaker 4: I was in a really toxic relationship where we were
- 23:15Speaker 4: breaking up, getting back together, breaking up, getting back together.
- 23:18Speaker 3: I'd move out.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Is this your marriage?
- 23:22Speaker 3: No?
- 23:22Speaker 4: No, I actually have a great relationship with my ex wife.
- 23:26Speaker 4: We were together almost twenty years and wow, you know,
- 23:31Speaker 4: we just talked today, even we talk every day pretty much.
- 23:34Speaker 4: But this was a relationship I probably never should have
- 23:38Speaker 4: gotten into. I was but her and me and my
- 23:44Speaker 4: ex wife we had broken up.
- 23:46Speaker 3: I was single for a while.
- 23:47Speaker 4: I was dating, dating, dating, and then I was thinking, like,
- 23:50Speaker 4: I should probably make a decision on what I'm going
- 23:52Speaker 4: to do because I was worried that it would set
- 23:55Speaker 4: a bad example to my daughter if she sawt me
- 23:58Speaker 4: dating a lot of different people. And so I think
- 24:01Speaker 4: I probably jumped into choosing when I probably shouldn't have.
- 24:06Speaker 4: And probably about a year in I knew it wasn't right,
- 24:10Speaker 4: and I just kept on, you know, trying to make
- 24:12Speaker 4: it work. I think I'm a bit of a try
- 24:14Speaker 4: to make it work a person. Yeah, and then it
- 24:18Speaker 4: clearly wasn't and then I would just get to the
- 24:20Speaker 4: breaking point. I would move out, and we went through
- 24:23Speaker 4: this very toxic thing for a long time.
- 24:25Speaker 2: And then how long was the breakup period?
- 24:28Speaker 5: Like how long did it take from you knew you
- 24:30Speaker 5: obviously knew the first year you should have broke up,
- 24:33Speaker 5: but you still.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Go five years?
- 24:35Speaker 2: Oh wow, Yeah, it used to happen to me all
- 24:37Speaker 2: the time.
- 24:37Speaker 5: By the way, I knew I should have broken up
- 24:40Speaker 5: like six at the six month mark, at the year mark,
- 24:43Speaker 5: and then it took three years to finally break up.
- 24:45Speaker 2: It took five years to finally break up.
- 24:46Speaker 5: When in retrospect, I was like, I kind of knew
- 24:49Speaker 5: at year one it was never going to happen, Yet
- 24:53Speaker 5: I continued this back and forth toxic relationship.
- 24:57Speaker 3: So yeah, it's that interesting for you or for them.
- 25:00Speaker 4: I think what prolonged the whole thing is that her
- 25:03Speaker 4: friends convinced me that everything would get a lot better
- 25:07Speaker 4: if we just got engaged, because a lot of the
- 25:11Speaker 4: you know, craziness that was happening, in the stress that
- 25:13Speaker 4: was happening, arguing that was happening, was because I was
- 25:16Speaker 4: not being engaged. And I don't know how I felt
- 25:18Speaker 4: for that. That was like, it's like these people that
- 25:21Speaker 4: they're like, oh, just have a baby, that'll fix everything.
- 25:24Speaker 4: So I got engaged, and and then it didn't fix
- 25:27Speaker 4: the It didn't fix the issues.
- 25:29Speaker 3: So yeah, we ended up calling it off.
- 25:31Speaker 4: And then so then I was single, trying to figure
- 25:36Speaker 4: out what to do. And then one of my friends
- 25:39Speaker 4: we used to see this girl in the in the
- 25:41Speaker 4: gym all the time at Berry's boot Camp Lisa.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Barry's boot Camp, by the way, it's one of my
- 25:45Speaker 2: favorite workouts.
- 25:47Speaker 4: I still go like once a week with at least.
- 25:49Speaker 4: She's like a frequent flyer there.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Nice.
- 25:53Speaker 3: But we used to see her come in.
- 25:55Speaker 4: She was like I always thought she was beautiful, but
- 25:58Speaker 4: she she'd come in like five minutes slate to the class,
- 26:00Speaker 4: and she'd leave five minutes early.
- 26:02Speaker 3: And I'd think, like, what's with that girl?
- 26:04Speaker 4: She thinks she's too good for everybody's what's going on?
- 26:06Speaker 4: Why is she coming in late and leaving early and everything?
- 26:09Speaker 4: And then I came to realize what her life was like,
- 26:11Speaker 4: like if she sticks around, she gets like, you know,
- 26:14Speaker 4: it can be hard to get in and out sometimes. Yeah,
- 26:17Speaker 4: So that's where I first saw her, and I would
- 26:19Speaker 4: talk about her with my friends and everything, and then
- 26:22Speaker 4: then they broke up. I kind of forgot all about
- 26:25Speaker 4: it until I broke up, and I was like, I
- 26:28Speaker 4: was on a boat with one of my friends and
- 26:31Speaker 4: he said we were talking about like, what.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Am I going to do next? Am I going to
- 26:35Speaker 3: go on a dating app?
- 26:35Speaker 4: What am I going to do? And then he's we
- 26:39Speaker 4: were like, what about that? Lisa girl, and I was like, yeah,
- 26:43Speaker 4: maybe I'll ask her out. So I didn't realize at
- 26:45Speaker 4: the time how unrealistic that was, you know, just pulled outreach.
- 26:49Speaker 4: But I just like dm'd her and and then she
- 26:54Speaker 4: started writing back, and it was like within two minutes
- 26:56Speaker 4: she started writing back, and it was like an interview.
- 26:59Speaker 4: She's like like, do you have any kids? You know,
- 27:02Speaker 4: like what how old is your kid? What has your
- 27:04Speaker 4: relationship with her? Like it was like boom boom, boom,
- 27:08Speaker 4: boom boom, like for an hour and a half, like
- 27:11Speaker 4: what do you do for a living?
- 27:12Speaker 3: What did you do before that? Like you know, uh?
- 27:14Speaker 5: And then when in your DM or did you like
- 27:16Speaker 5: say hey it's me from Barrie's do you remember me?
- 27:19Speaker 5: Or what was that first DM?
- 27:20Speaker 2: What did you ask?
- 27:22Speaker 1: Well?
- 27:22Speaker 4: I remember it because she tells this story quite a bit.
- 27:26Speaker 4: She was getting apparently like a lot of like really
- 27:29Speaker 4: bad messages, like a lot of gross messages from guys
- 27:32Speaker 4: like whatever, and and mine was probably a pretty Canadian
- 27:36Speaker 4: I guess I was like, hey, I think you're really beautiful.
- 27:40Speaker 4: I've seen you around at you know, at your parties
- 27:43Speaker 4: and at various bot camp and stuff like that, and
- 27:45Speaker 4: I always thought you had like really great style, and
- 27:49Speaker 4: you know, you just you're kind of my neighbor. You
- 27:51Speaker 4: just live on the next island, and I'd love to
- 27:54Speaker 4: take you out sometime if you want.
- 27:55Speaker 3: And she's like, huh, next island. So he's doing okay
- 28:01Speaker 3: for himself. You know.
- 28:02Speaker 5: I was just gonna say that I liked that drop
- 28:04Speaker 5: of the next island.
- 28:05Speaker 2: That's just like yeah, low hand.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Yeah, and yeah. So it worked.
- 28:10Speaker 4: And then we went out for planned our first date
- 28:15Speaker 4: at a restaurant and it was like a very awkward
- 28:19Speaker 4: car ride because it was it was probably too long
- 28:22Speaker 4: of a car ride, and and then but yeah, but
- 28:27Speaker 4: it turned out to be it turned out to be great.
- 28:29Speaker 4: We ended up going to an event. It was like
- 28:34Speaker 4: this season is all about the Philip Line thing. We
- 28:38Speaker 4: went to a Philip Line event when we first.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Met, and.
- 28:43Speaker 4: It was it was nice because like I had had
- 28:47Speaker 4: other friends there so I could talk to my friends
- 28:49Speaker 4: and like she could still talk to her.
- 28:51Speaker 3: It wasn't so much pressure, you know. Yeah, it turned
- 28:54Speaker 3: out to be really good.
- 28:56Speaker 4: And then then I just you know, asked her out again,
- 28:59Speaker 4: and it is kind of I remember her telling me,
- 29:02Speaker 4: like early into the relationship, she said, are you sure
- 29:05Speaker 4: you want to do this because this is going to
- 29:07Speaker 4: get really crazy.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:09Speaker 4: I was thinking, like how crazy could it really get?
- 29:12Speaker 4: You know, I've been in the media before with my
- 29:15Speaker 4: tex stuff. I didn't realize how different that was, you know.
- 29:20Speaker 1: But yeah, well, let me ask you the big question.
- 29:24Speaker 1: When you saw Lisa, and you obviously knew about her,
- 29:29Speaker 1: not just because she's a hottie, did you know that
- 29:32Speaker 1: she was on a real housewife show on TV? Yeah?
- 29:36Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, everybody everybody in the city knew that couple.
- 29:43Speaker 3: More than anybody else on the show.
- 29:45Speaker 4: They just knew who that couple was because they were
- 29:48Speaker 4: in the same social circles. So I had a million
- 29:51Speaker 4: friends that were their friends.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Yea.
- 29:54Speaker 4: It happened to have not met, so it was that
- 29:58Speaker 4: was one of the things that actually made it pretty
- 29:59Speaker 4: ea because we had so many friends in common. Okay,
- 30:02Speaker 4: and I didn't have any friends in common with anybody
- 30:04Speaker 4: else on the show. But I knew all about her,
- 30:08Speaker 4: and she knew a lot of my friends, but we
- 30:11Speaker 4: didn't really I didn't know much about the show because
- 30:13Speaker 4: I didn't watch the show.
- 30:14Speaker 1: I was just going to ask you that, like, were
- 30:16Speaker 1: you very familiar with the show? Okay?
- 30:19Speaker 3: You I was forced to watch it once or twice
- 30:21Speaker 3: by one of my axes.
- 30:22Speaker 2: But do you interact with Lisa's X at all?
- 30:28Speaker 3: No, not really.
- 30:30Speaker 4: I went to like birthdays and things like that. I
- 30:33Speaker 4: tried to make the best of it. I just felt like,
- 30:38Speaker 4: you know, I had such a good relationship with my ax.
- 30:41Speaker 4: I thought it would work itself out in time. And
- 30:43Speaker 4: I remember texting them that saying like, Hey, I know
- 30:46Speaker 4: things arely heated between you and Lisa right now, but
- 30:50Speaker 4: I do think it'll work itself out over time and
- 30:52Speaker 4: all that, kind of giving them my perspective, but they
- 30:55Speaker 4: never I'm not sure it ever will for them.
- 30:57Speaker 3: You know.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a tough place to be and I know that.
- 31:01Speaker 1: I mean, I hate to bring this up, but I
- 31:03Speaker 1: know Edwin is kind of walking into that world, Like
- 31:06Speaker 1: how is he going to feel when the kids are
- 31:08Speaker 1: going to be with somebody else? And it's it's a
- 31:13Speaker 1: crazy dynamic. I don't know if you're ready for that.
- 31:15Speaker 1: You're ready for that, Edwin?
- 31:18Speaker 2: I think so. It seems like a cool guy.
- 31:21Speaker 1: I haven't met him yet, but but are you communicating
- 31:24Speaker 1: with him?
- 31:25Speaker 2: No, not yet, not yet.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I personally I don't have a problem with it, but
- 31:30Speaker 1: that's good.
- 31:31Speaker 5: But I think it's you know, I think it's a
- 31:33Speaker 5: you know, when it just happens organic. I think I'm
- 31:35Speaker 5: more of that type of person and stuff.
- 31:38Speaker 1: So yeah, I think we talked about this before on
- 31:42Speaker 1: another podcast interview, and I want to say I had
- 31:46Speaker 1: I never spoke to my wife's ex. It just was
- 31:49Speaker 1: not conducive. The guy was just a terrible person. But
- 31:54Speaker 1: I think if I had done it different, if I
- 31:56Speaker 1: had my way, I would have had a great conversation
- 31:58Speaker 1: or relationship with him because it benefits the kids the most.
- 32:02Speaker 1: I think that's my opinion. I didn't experience that, but
- 32:05Speaker 1: from what I witnessed and other relationships that have gone
- 32:09Speaker 1: through something like that, I think the kids benefit highly.
- 32:13Speaker 1: And and I just had, you know, an interview with
- 32:16Speaker 1: PAULI and we talked about that with him and Dolores
- 32:19Speaker 1: and yeah, and and how he has just an incredible
- 32:23Speaker 1: relationship with the whole entire extended family, including Frank and
- 32:27Speaker 1: it's just so funny how they go back and forth
- 32:29Speaker 1: like brothers, and it's it's bizarre to me, but he says, yeah,
- 32:33Speaker 1: you know, it works, It really works.
- 32:35Speaker 5: I think it's easy if if both couples are getting along. Yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 5: it's it's easy to meet the other person, right. I
- 32:41Speaker 5: think if you're not getting along, it just makes it
- 32:44Speaker 5: that much tougher, right because you know, as the as
- 32:47Speaker 5: the guy that's coming into a new relationship, you almost
- 32:51Speaker 5: have to stay away because it can only be bad
- 32:55Speaker 5: for you. If they're in a bad place and then
- 32:56Speaker 5: you try to butt in, it just gets worse. So
- 32:58Speaker 5: but if they're both doing well and amicable, it's easy
- 33:02Speaker 5: to just meet the other person, I think.
- 33:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:05Speaker 4: And it's so much harder in our world, I think too,
- 33:07Speaker 4: because everything, uh, you know, everybody is so visible in
- 33:11Speaker 4: the media, so like there was an awful lot happening
- 33:14Speaker 4: where something would happen and then somebody would call you know,
- 33:19Speaker 4: page six or us or whatever, and then like and
- 33:22Speaker 4: then somebody then they call for a rebuttal and it's
- 33:26Speaker 4: just it's a weird world, you know, this whole thing
- 33:29Speaker 4: is it just RKEs it really difficult.
- 33:30Speaker 3: Now.
- 33:31Speaker 4: On the other hand, my daughter's mom and she's you know,
- 33:36Speaker 4: she's now remarried, and we travel together, like you and
- 33:41Speaker 4: the kids and uh and my daughter and and then
- 33:45Speaker 4: like we did ski trips together, we do Christmas together.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Wow. Great that's awesome.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and you bring Lisa with you, I assume, yeah, yeah.
- 33:55Speaker 4: Lisa and the kids and and actually Logan h which
- 33:59Speaker 4: is Lisa's on he was, he was he he loves Danny,
- 34:05Speaker 4: which is you know, it's like my kid's mom's husband.
- 34:09Speaker 4: He loves me, and Danny has taken him like pickleball
- 34:13Speaker 4: and you know, all kinds of stuff like that. It's
- 34:14Speaker 4: kind of like a you know, a new modern family.
- 34:16Speaker 3: It's fun.
- 34:17Speaker 1: That's cool. That is so cool.
- 34:19Speaker 5: So you were I remember I saw some articles on
- 34:22Speaker 5: you know, how supportive you were being for Lisa and
- 34:25Speaker 5: how great you were for Lisa, and obviously you were
- 34:27Speaker 5: getting some great press and then all of a sudden
- 34:29Speaker 5: you start getting some bad press with that incident of you,
- 34:34Speaker 5: which you guys quickly sort of diminished. But how was that,
- 34:38Speaker 5: you know, getting good press and then all of a
- 34:40Speaker 5: sudden you.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Got to deal with that crap?
- 34:43Speaker 1: Right?
- 34:44Speaker 2: How was that? Definitely the ard where you're disappointed.
- 34:48Speaker 4: I thinkfully, that wasn't my first foray into it, because
- 34:51Speaker 4: like I had when I was like several months into
- 34:55Speaker 4: dating Lisa and then there was a hit piece put
- 34:58Speaker 4: in by her ex about just one day whenever I
- 35:03Speaker 4: was like dropping her off. He like called the you know,
- 35:07Speaker 4: one of these tabloids or whatever, and they were saying
- 35:09Speaker 4: like that I was visiting the house late at night.
- 35:11Speaker 4: It was just like a really bizarre article. I was like,
- 35:14Speaker 4: this is really strange that this is what the world
- 35:17Speaker 4: is like. You know, you do a normal thing, like
- 35:19Speaker 4: you're just dropping somebody off, and it turns into a
- 35:21Speaker 4: news story.
- 35:22Speaker 2: So what was that story, Like you were being a
- 35:24Speaker 2: stalker or what.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Well, it was trying to apply that I was home with.
- 35:32Speaker 4: And the kids, and then that was somehow inappropriate because
- 35:37Speaker 4: the kids are too young to have a guy around.
- 35:40Speaker 4: It was a twenty thousand square foot mansion with two
- 35:43Speaker 4: guest houses, you know, like it's not like we're just
- 35:48Speaker 4: we were just hanging out like every couple hangs out. Yeah,
- 35:51Speaker 4: but you know, he was able to spin that into
- 35:54Speaker 4: a news story. And I think he was just angry
- 35:56Speaker 4: at the time at her And I'm sure there was
- 35:59Speaker 4: a lot of back and forth worth us.
- 36:00Speaker 3: I mean, I was really angry with my with my
- 36:04Speaker 3: ex when we first broke up, so I think that's natural.
- 36:07Speaker 4: But that's where I first caught the first shrapnel, I guess.
- 36:11Speaker 4: And and then this last one, I had actually heard
- 36:17Speaker 4: like long before the season was ever, Like really, when
- 36:19Speaker 4: season one was was wrapping up, one of the producers
- 36:23Speaker 4: had said to me that a lot of times in
- 36:26Speaker 4: season two, like when you're in your second full season,
- 36:29Speaker 4: a lot of times that's when they'll.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Give you a bad editor. Yeah, and so I.
- 36:33Speaker 4: Wasn't entirely surprised, and then and then I got But
- 36:40Speaker 4: when I saw that, it was so bizarre because you know,
- 36:43Speaker 4: they leave all the windows and door You guys have
- 36:45Speaker 4: probably seen this, but they have like the lighting equipment
- 36:48Speaker 4: and stuff like that, so they leave all the windows and
- 36:49Speaker 4: doors open where they're filming. We had barbecues and everything
- 36:53Speaker 4: in our in our living room, and so it was
- 36:56Speaker 4: like ninety some degrees.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Everybody's like sweating through their shirts and everything.
- 37:00Speaker 4: And also most of my friends don't want to be
- 37:02Speaker 4: on camera, but but I didn't want to be at
- 37:06Speaker 4: my own birthday without my friends. Yeah, if I said,
- 37:10Speaker 4: you know, it's fine and invite all the cast and everything,
- 37:12Speaker 4: but I want to have my own friends there, and
- 37:13Speaker 4: then my friends would come and they basically just had
- 37:16Speaker 4: you know, we have a got a very large place,
- 37:18Speaker 4: so they just had their own kind of birthday going
- 37:22Speaker 4: on separate from the main one, and then then I
- 37:25Speaker 4: see that they're like clearly trying to imply that I
- 37:28Speaker 4: was like that AC was some code word, and some
- 37:31Speaker 4: people have even like given it, like they say adult
- 37:35Speaker 4: candy or.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Something like that. It's just so stretching, but whatever.
- 37:39Speaker 1: I mean, that's part of the Real Housewife world is
- 37:44Speaker 1: that every edit, for the most part, is to create
- 37:50Speaker 1: the maximize the drama, you know, to create something out
- 37:53Speaker 1: of nothing or take something completely out of context. I
- 37:57Speaker 1: get it now because I've been in it for so long,
- 38:00Speaker 1: and if there wasn't any of that, then there wouldn't
- 38:04Speaker 1: be an audience just rivetted to watching the train wreck, right,
- 38:09Speaker 1: because that's what I call it. It's just just a
- 38:11Speaker 1: train wreck shit show that everybody loves to watch, and
- 38:15Speaker 1: they've been very successful with it, doing that same program
- 38:19Speaker 1: year in year out. Every time I've spoken to any
- 38:24Speaker 1: potential house husband or boyfriend that's going to be on
- 38:27Speaker 1: the show, I've had a few of them reach out
- 38:29Speaker 1: to me and say, hey, so what should I expect.
- 38:31Speaker 1: My biggest advice has always been to stay out of
- 38:33Speaker 1: the cameras, to stay out of the drama, don't get involved.
- 38:37Speaker 1: You know, at the end of the day, it's better
- 38:41Speaker 1: to be called a guy or a guy that doesn't
- 38:44Speaker 1: support his wife on this show, then a guy that
- 38:47Speaker 1: gets all into the business it gets into a fight
- 38:50Speaker 1: with another housewife and becomes, you know, the seventh housewife
- 38:53Speaker 1: on the show. Right, that's my take on it.
- 38:56Speaker 3: This is what I tried to do.
- 38:57Speaker 4: So when I heard that this was probably that I
- 39:02Speaker 4: was probably going to be, you know, I have this
- 39:04Speaker 4: happen in season two, I thought, okay, Well, the first
- 39:06Speaker 4: thing I did is said I'm not going to film
- 39:08Speaker 4: season two, and so we went a long time into
- 39:13Speaker 4: negotiations where I was like, I'm not going to do
- 39:16Speaker 4: this until you know if this is what's coming. And
- 39:19Speaker 4: it ended up I was. I was satisfied. I thought
- 39:22Speaker 4: it was all going to be kept under control. The
- 39:25Speaker 4: very first event was my birthday, so there was no
- 39:28Speaker 4: it's but to be there, you know, So so I
- 39:31Speaker 4: was kind of trapped. Larsa came right up and confronted
- 39:35Speaker 4: me at my birthday.
- 39:37Speaker 3: They cut most of the scene.
- 39:38Speaker 4: It's actually like a five minute scene or so where
- 39:41Speaker 4: I have a whole conversation with her where she's like
- 39:44Speaker 4: asking these different questions and I'm saying like, she's like,
- 39:48Speaker 4: do you know don't you know what Marcus did to me?
- 39:50Speaker 4: And I said, well, something along lines of like no,
- 39:54Speaker 4: I don't know anything about that, and and she was like, well.
- 39:58Speaker 3: You know he did this and this and this. Don't
- 39:59Speaker 3: even don't aren't you on Instagram?
- 40:01Speaker 4: And I said, I'm not really on Instagram like once
- 40:03Speaker 4: in a while, like once every few weeks or a month,
- 40:06Speaker 4: I'll post something, but I'm not really an Instagram person.
- 40:08Speaker 4: And she's like, well, what about the tabloids. It's all
- 40:10Speaker 4: over the TMC and everything. I was like, I don't.
- 40:12Speaker 4: I'm a business person. I don't really read tabloids or
- 40:14Speaker 4: any of that kind of stuff. Honestly, I just don't
- 40:16Speaker 4: do that. It was a whole conversation.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Are you drinking? Do you have a little buzz going on?
- 40:20Speaker 2: And she's.
- 40:23Speaker 3: I was prepared because I was like, this is gonna
- 40:25Speaker 3: be like. I didn't let my guard down until the
- 40:31Speaker 3: whole I thought.
- 40:32Speaker 4: It was over, like I thought, okay, well I handled
- 40:34Speaker 4: that pretty well, and then I was like, okay, guys,
- 40:36Speaker 4: like all right.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Let's go do a shot.
- 40:38Speaker 4: So then I felt like it was all good and
- 40:41Speaker 4: then but turned out they clipped the whole argument and
- 40:45Speaker 4: they made it look like she confronted me, and I
- 40:47Speaker 4: was like, oh.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw that clip. My wife made me watch
- 40:52Speaker 1: the show.
- 40:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's And then I realized, I mean, every
- 40:56Speaker 4: year you learn a little bit more right, and you
- 40:57Speaker 4: realize I thought, as long as you don't give them
- 41:01Speaker 4: any any scenes that where you're being full Oh no,
- 41:07Speaker 4: I realized, No, it's it's even more than that. You
- 41:09Speaker 4: really have to just stay away. Yeah, like you said,
- 41:13Speaker 4: if you stay away too much, then you're on supportive.
- 41:15Speaker 4: So yeah, I think I think I'll know the right
- 41:16Speaker 4: balance next year if I if I decide to.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Do it, Yeah, I think my number one rule is
- 41:22Speaker 1: just don't get involved with the drama no matter how
- 41:24Speaker 1: bad it gets, because I have confidence more than one
- 41:27Speaker 1: hundred percent that my wife can handle it because she's
- 41:30Speaker 1: been doing that. She's seasoned. She knows how to deal
- 41:32Speaker 1: with these little bitches that you know, want men that
- 41:36Speaker 1: want to be on the show and want to be
- 41:37Speaker 1: you know, big mouth and be part of the housewife world.
- 41:41Speaker 1: And I'm like, I there's nothing I can contribute to
- 41:44Speaker 1: that because my wife will put them in their place,
- 41:46Speaker 1: you know, And my wife doesn't make up bullshit, you know,
- 41:49Speaker 1: she defends herself, defends her family, and just calls people
- 41:52Speaker 1: out on their bullshit. And that's what people don't like,
- 41:55Speaker 1: especially men.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 41:58Speaker 4: In our in our group, the men don't really get involved.
- 42:02Speaker 4: This year, what ended up happening is, you know, Marcus
- 42:06Speaker 4: and I joined the show at the same time. Every
- 42:09Speaker 4: time he lives in Orlando, So every time he would
- 42:11Speaker 4: come down from Orlando, which is every three four months
- 42:14Speaker 4: or whatever, he's he's friends with all my friends, so
- 42:18Speaker 4: all my friends, and he has to be like, Hey,
- 42:20Speaker 4: I'm coming to.
- 42:21Speaker 3: Town or whatever, let's go grab dinner. We grab dinner, and.
- 42:25Speaker 4: One of these times, it was in the summertime, I
- 42:27Speaker 4: grabbed dinner with him and a bunch of my friends.
- 42:30Speaker 3: And then.
- 42:32Speaker 4: Like months later, we're going into filming and then Larsa
- 42:36Speaker 4: calls and she's all angry. I'm like what, And then
- 42:38Speaker 4: I'm realizing she's talking about this group dinner with all
- 42:41Speaker 4: my friends from like months before.
- 42:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't even I didn't.
- 42:46Speaker 4: Even know this was a problem, you know. Yeah, and
- 42:49Speaker 4: then it just turned into a confrontation. First thing I
- 42:51Speaker 4: knew I was the story lie.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Well, the other thing I kind of took away from
- 42:57Speaker 1: watching the clip of your show last Sunday, I think
- 43:00Speaker 1: it was, is, you know, there's going to be drama
- 43:03Speaker 1: between friends. You know, Again, something I learned recently, there's
- 43:07Speaker 1: got to be a fight, and then there's got to
- 43:09Speaker 1: be making up. And my wife's had so many of
- 43:14Speaker 1: those relationships on the show. And again it's for show purposes, right,
- 43:19Speaker 1: but there also have been some women on the show
- 43:22Speaker 1: that they can't get to my wife. They can't you know,
- 43:25Speaker 1: make her emotionally cry or really get at her, right,
- 43:30Speaker 1: so they go after their kids, or they go after
- 43:32Speaker 1: their husbands or boyfriends. And that's just not fun. That's
- 43:35Speaker 1: not cool, you know, these these women, and we're not
- 43:40Speaker 1: going to you know. And and the thing that really
- 43:44Speaker 1: gets me is that Bravo edits it and puts it
- 43:47Speaker 1: out there, and I get it, you know, it's part
- 43:49Speaker 1: of the show. We signed the contract, then we're there
- 43:52Speaker 1: because we want to support our wife anyway we can.
- 43:55Speaker 1: But it's it's, yeah, it's I don't know, collateral damage.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Welcome to the collateral damage.
- 44:01Speaker 4: But I think I think it does make it harder
- 44:03Speaker 4: to recruit successful guys.
- 44:07Speaker 3: To the show, because yeah, and to get us to
- 44:10Speaker 3: come back like after after a year like this.
- 44:14Speaker 4: You know, we had a lot of discussions, like do
- 44:15Speaker 4: I ever want to be on camera again?
- 44:18Speaker 2: You know, I don't know.
- 44:20Speaker 3: It's I I definitely wanted to help her. I wanted
- 44:23Speaker 3: to support her, But then I.
- 44:26Speaker 4: See some of the women on the show where their
- 44:29Speaker 4: husbands barely appear and they've been fine. Yeah, so I
- 44:33Speaker 4: think I think I can probably fade away and that
- 44:37Speaker 4: would be great.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Do you still talk to Marcus?
- 44:40Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 44:41Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, I probably every two or three months we talk.
- 44:46Speaker 4: I'm I'm taking my daughter to Paris here this weekend,
- 44:49Speaker 4: and and and he's going to be in Paris apparently
- 44:52Speaker 4: in the same same weekends we were talking about actually
- 44:55Speaker 4: grabbing dinner.
- 44:56Speaker 3: If that doesn't like cause, I.
- 44:58Speaker 4: Mean, the guy doesn't even drin think anymore. Like he's
- 45:01Speaker 4: he's he's so not what at least from what I've seen,
- 45:05Speaker 4: he's so not what is rumored?
- 45:08Speaker 1: You know, Yeah, yeah, what is uh?
- 45:11Speaker 2: What does mom now think of you been on the show?
- 45:14Speaker 2: Obviously she was very proud when you got that job
- 45:16Speaker 2: making fifteen bucks. Now what does she think now that
- 45:18Speaker 2: you're on Bravo TV?
- 45:21Speaker 1: Is she like a big fan is sher celebrity?
- 45:23Speaker 4: Yeah, oh my god, if if my mom were My
- 45:26Speaker 4: mom passed a long time ago, but if my mom
- 45:28Speaker 4: were still alive, there was no way I would do
- 45:29Speaker 4: the show because she would have just never. My mom
- 45:33Speaker 4: was very She used to preach to me all the
- 45:37Speaker 4: time about modesty and not bragging and just like she was,
- 45:40Speaker 4: so it was so important to her that uh that
- 45:44Speaker 4: I actually it kind of hurt my businesses for a
- 45:47Speaker 4: long time because I wouldn't be on camera. I didn't
- 45:50Speaker 4: have any kind of public image because I always had
- 45:52Speaker 4: these things going on in my hat about what my
- 45:55Speaker 4: mom had taught me. So yeah, if she were, if
- 45:58Speaker 4: she were alive, I'd be wrestling between you know, what's
- 46:00Speaker 4: good for Lisa and what's good for my mom, and
- 46:02Speaker 4: I probably would lean towards modesty.
- 46:05Speaker 2: My last question for you, just a fun one.
- 46:08Speaker 5: You mentioned when you DMD or you said, hey, I
- 46:11Speaker 5: have a house just snacks on the other island. Who
- 46:15Speaker 5: had a nicer house?
- 46:17Speaker 2: You or Lisa?
- 46:18Speaker 4: Oh?
- 46:19Speaker 3: You know it was? My house was was quite nice.
- 46:22Speaker 3: It was a waterfront. You know.
- 46:24Speaker 4: I sold it for twelve through twelve million dollars just
- 46:28Speaker 4: a couple months ago.
- 46:30Speaker 3: But at least was worth I think eighty million dollars.
- 46:33Speaker 4: Oh wow, it's like a massive, massive place, so really,
- 46:40Speaker 4: you know, it kind of to me felt a little
- 46:42Speaker 4: bit like a hospital. It was giant, like twenty five
- 46:45Speaker 4: ceilings and like.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Wow, yeah, was yours more modern?
- 46:50Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, mine was more more like modern like wood.
- 46:53Speaker 4: It's kind of like I don't know if you've seen
- 46:56Speaker 4: these like with Teak and Epey and all that. I
- 46:59Speaker 4: love that kind of thing, like feel a little bit jungly.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:03Speaker 2: Now they got some beautiful homes there.
- 47:05Speaker 3: I can only Miami. Miami is a really great place.
- 47:08Speaker 4: It's my daughter was just saying about how she loves
- 47:12Speaker 4: where she lives. And I remember when I grew up,
- 47:15Speaker 4: and most of us when we grew up, we didn't
- 47:16Speaker 4: love where we lived. But I do find off a
- 47:19Speaker 4: lot of people they love Miami.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a great place. It's a really cool, just hip, jive,
- 47:25Speaker 1: awesome place to visit. I don't know that I could
- 47:28Speaker 1: live at the same thing with New York. I love visiting,
- 47:30Speaker 1: I don't know that I can live there, But you know,
- 47:32Speaker 1: it probably stems from just growing up in southern California
- 47:35Speaker 1: all my life and I'm comfortable here, but I do
- 47:39Speaker 1: love to visit Miami. It's awesome. It's pretty cool.
- 47:49Speaker 2: Now that you sold your place, what's next?
- 47:52Speaker 4: Well, so now I think I'm actually looking at another place.
- 47:56Speaker 4: So there's a place that's another waterfront place I found.
- 48:02Speaker 4: I had a feeling that prices were going to drop,
- 48:04Speaker 4: and they are. So I think I talked to that
- 48:05Speaker 4: kind of perfectly been investing and stuff like that, and
- 48:09Speaker 4: then now I think I'm probably gonna buy another place
- 48:11Speaker 4: coming well, I guess if I can get it for
- 48:15Speaker 4: what I think I can.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Do you involve your daughter at all with it? She
- 48:19Speaker 2: just has no.
- 48:20Speaker 3: Interest in that kind of stuff.
- 48:21Speaker 4: You know, I'm waiting to see, you know what she's
- 48:24Speaker 4: gonna have interest in. At the moment, she's like very
- 48:27Speaker 4: focused on forensics. She wants to solve crimes, work for
- 48:31Speaker 4: the FBI and all that kind of stuff. That could
- 48:34Speaker 4: be pretty cool. I would like for her to do
- 48:36Speaker 4: something in maths or sciences or AI or something that's
- 48:40Speaker 4: future proof, you.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Know, right right, times are definitely changing. So one last
- 48:45Speaker 1: question I have for you is now that we've mentioned,
- 48:48Speaker 1: you know, some of the negative stuff that has happened
- 48:50Speaker 1: on Bravo and how they spin things to create a
- 48:53Speaker 1: storyline and how you know, sometimes we get to be
- 48:57Speaker 1: you know, collateral damage on all that. Tell us about
- 49:00Speaker 1: some of the positive stuff that you've experienced since being
- 49:04Speaker 1: on the show.
- 49:05Speaker 4: Yeah, well it's it's I mean, I guess in terms
- 49:09Speaker 4: of it's a wild life. Yeah, we go to you know,
- 49:15Speaker 4: she's coming to meet me and Peyton in Paris here
- 49:18Speaker 4: this weekend, and you know, it's it's crazy, like when
- 49:21Speaker 4: we're getting stopped all the time in the street and
- 49:24Speaker 4: and like all this it's a it's that that stuff
- 49:27Speaker 4: is it is cool for a while, but I think
- 49:31Speaker 4: in I think and it's been really great for Lisa.
- 49:35Speaker 3: I mean, Lisa has built a.
- 49:38Speaker 4: Whole career in business that is probably starting to rival
- 49:45Speaker 4: what she's making on the show now. And that's that's
- 49:48Speaker 4: really just within the last couple of years. So I think,
- 49:51Speaker 4: you know, she never really had focused on it before,
- 49:54Speaker 4: and now I've been kind of like trying to help her,
- 49:56Speaker 4: you know, how to build a brand and then you know,
- 49:58Speaker 4: how to think about product and stuff like that, and
- 50:01Speaker 4: she's been really focusing. I've been pretty proud of her
- 50:04Speaker 4: now that she's like clear of the distraction of the divorce.
- 50:06Speaker 4: I think she's doing a good job. So I think
- 50:08Speaker 4: it's really good for the women that you know, use
- 50:11Speaker 4: it in the right way.
- 50:12Speaker 1: So I understand you guys created an app for divorce
- 50:16Speaker 1: to make divorce a little bit easier or yeah, consumer friendly.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Yeah exactly.
- 50:23Speaker 4: So she had ran into a lot of problems during
- 50:25Speaker 4: her divorce, and she was constantly calling me. I have
- 50:28Speaker 4: a bit of a legal background too, and so she
- 50:30Speaker 4: would ask me different questions about things that would happen
- 50:34Speaker 4: all the time, like, hey, she'd just wake up in
- 50:36Speaker 4: the morning and maybe all the cars were gone from
- 50:38Speaker 4: the driveway and she had to drive, she had to
- 50:40Speaker 4: get the kids to school or whatever, like all kinds
- 50:42Speaker 4: of random situations, and so I would, you know, help
- 50:45Speaker 4: her look through the legal documents and all that stuff
- 50:47Speaker 4: that she could save money.
- 50:49Speaker 3: And then they were just de escalating conversations.
- 50:51Speaker 4: There was like how to find a good attorney that's
- 50:53Speaker 4: not going to take advantage of the situation all these problems,
- 50:58Speaker 4: And we started conversations about like, you know, we could
- 51:02Speaker 4: probably build something that would help you, but also help
- 51:05Speaker 4: women in general that are the disadvantage party. Usually they
- 51:07Speaker 4: don't have as much legal knowledge as much money as
- 51:10Speaker 4: the husband and it would be a good business for Lisa.
- 51:14Speaker 4: So so I helped her get that off the ground,
- 51:17Speaker 4: helped her raise money, hire the team, and she's got
- 51:21Speaker 4: she's got a whole team that basically runs with that
- 51:22Speaker 4: now and I just kind of like help them set
- 51:24Speaker 4: weekly goals or whatever.
- 51:26Speaker 1: But that's awesome.
- 51:27Speaker 3: I was an investor in it.
- 51:30Speaker 4: Now I don't have to be that involved anymore, which
- 51:32Speaker 4: is my postalized business has just really taken off. It's
- 51:36Speaker 4: been we're this week, I think going to close a
- 51:39Speaker 4: really large financing.
- 51:41Speaker 3: To take it to the next level. So that's taking
- 51:44Speaker 3: up a lot of my time.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Fantastic, very cool, fantastic. So do you have any questions
- 51:51Speaker 1: for us or do you have anything and else? Do
- 51:53Speaker 1: you want to clarify about your experience on the show,
- 51:56Speaker 1: anything you want to talk about.
- 51:59Speaker 3: You know, I was when the more we got talking.
- 52:01Speaker 4: I know, we met at Pravacan a couple of years ago,
- 52:04Speaker 4: and I thought it's been such a nice network, you know, Yeah,
- 52:11Speaker 4: just meeting all the different guys and you realize how
- 52:14Speaker 4: you have a lot of things in common with them
- 52:15Speaker 4: because you're all kind of subject to the same things.
- 52:20Speaker 3: But I found fan you guys.
- 52:23Speaker 4: To be really great, and I love that you guys
- 52:25Speaker 4: do this because it kind of helps a little bit
- 52:28Speaker 4: when you feel like your only camera time is whatever
- 52:32Speaker 4: slice of camera time that Bravo decides to give you,
- 52:36Speaker 4: and it's not always the one that you want, and
- 52:38Speaker 4: it's nice when people get to know who you really are.
- 52:41Speaker 3: So yeah, I think it's.
- 52:42Speaker 4: Nice to you guys take the time to do these
- 52:44Speaker 4: kinds of podcasts and I love that.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you. I know I'm enjoying it. Edwin,
- 52:50Speaker 1: you're enjoying this and.
- 52:51Speaker 5: Enjoying them, and I love hearing stories like yours and
- 52:54Speaker 5: again kind of get to hear the story the man
- 52:56Speaker 5: behind the stories.
- 52:57Speaker 2: So it's pretty cool.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think my favorite part of this is,
- 53:01Speaker 1: you know, getting the opportunity to share the real man
- 53:06Speaker 1: behind or with the housewife on the show, because it's
- 53:10Speaker 1: not fair. It's not fair that, you know, we don't
- 53:12Speaker 1: get to be the real person on TV. And I
- 53:15Speaker 1: get why, you know, I'm boring on TV.
- 53:18Speaker 4: You know, I was like, I was like, the reason
- 53:22Speaker 4: I look awkward on camera is because I'm awkward on camera.
- 53:25Speaker 3: You know, housewife, I don't I never intended to be
- 53:29Speaker 3: a housewife.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Oh. I wanted to mention that too. When I was
- 53:32Speaker 1: watching the show on Sunday, I'm like, oh, he is
- 53:34Speaker 1: so uncomfortable on the camera and I'm the same way,
- 53:37Speaker 1: Like I'm a perfectly cool guy, normal conversation, but you
- 53:41Speaker 1: put that big lens in front of me, it changes me.
- 53:44Speaker 4: Just I don't think people realize what it's like because
- 53:48Speaker 4: when we're doing these scenes, there's like, you know, ten
- 53:50Speaker 4: people around you with my booms and you know, cameras
- 53:54Speaker 4: from all different angles and stuff, and you're just have
- 53:56Speaker 4: a normal conversation as though they're not even there.
- 53:59Speaker 3: It's it's, yeah, it's not like those lights.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Can be pretty hot, by the way. Those those lights
- 54:03Speaker 2: can get warm.
- 54:04Speaker 5: Yeah, and on where you're at and where the scene
- 54:07Speaker 5: is that those lights are just like beaming on you.
- 54:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:10Speaker 3: He's a hilarious I don't know if you guys have
- 54:12Speaker 3: seen this.
- 54:13Speaker 4: He's hilarious, this guy who acted out a scene of
- 54:17Speaker 4: a typical house husband.
- 54:19Speaker 1: He's like, I haven't seen that.
- 54:23Speaker 4: I'll have to send it to you guys, maybe show
- 54:25Speaker 4: notes or something. But it's it's so funny. It's this
- 54:28Speaker 4: this guy where he's like, what I can't believe she
- 54:31Speaker 4: disrespected our family. So it's a house husband, you know,
- 54:36Speaker 4: like we're all just do our part to like say whatever, yeah,
- 54:40Speaker 4: supportive thing, but we are not involved.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Sometimes I when I get awkward like that, I'll yell
- 54:48Speaker 1: out to the crew and I say, line, do.
- 54:53Speaker 2: You get more comfortable when you have some drinks on you? Yeah?
- 54:56Speaker 4: Say, oh my god, that was what that was what
- 54:59Speaker 4: I was doing. It's kind of like the story you told.
- 55:02Speaker 4: I was drinking a lot in the scenes because I
- 55:05Speaker 4: was like, I gotta get.
- 55:07Speaker 3: Comfortable or whatever, you know.
- 55:09Speaker 4: And then I was just like, I don't, like, we're
- 55:10Speaker 4: shooting like at some points five times a week.
- 55:14Speaker 3: Yeah, you can't do that.
- 55:15Speaker 1: No, no, no, no no.
- 55:19Speaker 5: Eddie's very calm with the cameras. He even did a
- 55:22Speaker 5: nude scene almost.
- 55:25Speaker 1: From the start. It was all downhill from there.
- 55:30Speaker 3: Yeah. They did that in my season one too.
- 55:32Speaker 4: There was like a there was like a scene where
- 55:37Speaker 4: they were like, hey, you guys want to like do
- 55:39Speaker 4: a date night. So we did a date night and stuff,
- 55:41Speaker 4: and then then they're like, you know, what are you
- 55:44Speaker 4: guys going to do after after dinner? I was like,
- 55:47Speaker 4: I don't know, like maybe go hang out by the
- 55:50Speaker 4: dock or whatever.
- 55:50Speaker 3: They're like, how about the hot tub? And then I'm like,
- 55:53Speaker 3: oh man.
- 55:57Speaker 1: You know what they want? Yeah, oh man. So hey,
- 56:03Speaker 1: I'll leave you with this final advice if you haven't
- 56:07Speaker 1: seen this show on Netflix is called Unreal. It's a
- 56:11Speaker 1: sort of a I think it's an eight series reality
- 56:17Speaker 1: TV kind of show, and it's about filming reality TV.
- 56:21Speaker 1: And the biggest takeaway is you know how producers are
- 56:25Speaker 1: wired to make a good show. But it'll open up
- 56:30Speaker 1: your eyes on how this all works for real because
- 56:35Speaker 1: you know some producers, most of the producers on our show,
- 56:38Speaker 1: I love them. They're they're really nice. They're really really
- 56:40Speaker 1: nice to you when they want you to do something right.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Perfect example, my very first scene when I filmed, you know,
- 56:46Speaker 1: the bathtub scene, the producer took me downstairs and said,
- 56:50Speaker 1: you don't have to do this, but here's a shot
- 56:52Speaker 1: at tequila. Seven shots later, I'm like, yo. They just
- 57:02Speaker 1: they just know how to manipulate you to do certain things.
- 57:05Speaker 1: And this show was very entertaining to watch only because
- 57:09Speaker 1: we're in it. You know, we're deep in it, and
- 57:12Speaker 1: there'll be there'll be a lot of takeaway for you
- 57:14Speaker 1: for how to manage yourself in the future.
- 57:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I do. I do love a lot of the producers.
- 57:19Speaker 4: They're really they're really good people, and I know they're
- 57:22Speaker 4: doing their job.
- 57:22Speaker 3: I know that his job.
- 57:25Speaker 4: But no, I probably have to probably film very little
- 57:31Speaker 4: or maybe not at all if it's gonna go like that.
- 57:34Speaker 3: It's just I think it's hard not to.
- 57:37Speaker 1: And this is another experience I had. I think it
- 57:40Speaker 1: was year two. Going into year two. I had a
- 57:44Speaker 1: decent edit in the beginning, because that was the night
- 57:47Speaker 1: in Shining Armor, you know, coming to save Camera from
- 57:50Speaker 1: her divorce or her last her last life. But yeah,
- 57:54Speaker 1: they they edited me in a way where it just
- 57:57Speaker 1: didn't make any sense, kind of like what happened to you?
- 58:01Speaker 1: And I had to make a choice. I literally contemplating, contemplated,
- 58:05Speaker 1: you know, I can't do this show. And if I
- 58:06Speaker 1: can't do this show, I can't be in this relationship
- 58:09Speaker 1: with Camera, So what's more important to me? And I
- 58:12Speaker 1: had to dig deep, deep, deep inside me and ask myself, like,
- 58:17Speaker 1: do you see a potential in this relationship? And all
- 58:21Speaker 1: the lights went up and said, yeah, you got to
- 58:23Speaker 1: do whatever it takes. So I had to make a
- 58:25Speaker 1: I had to literally flip a switch in my head
- 58:27Speaker 1: and go, Okay, I'm going to do this, and I'm
- 58:29Speaker 1: going to do it my way, and then you know,
- 58:31Speaker 1: I'm going to stay out of the drama, out of
- 58:34Speaker 1: the camera as much as possible, and only film when
- 58:36Speaker 1: I absolutely have to. And one trink I learned is
- 58:41Speaker 1: I think you did this too. It when whenever the
- 58:44Speaker 1: cameras are filming and the drama starts, I always stand
- 58:48Speaker 1: behind the cameraman or next to the cameraman because they
- 58:51Speaker 1: can't get my my my reaction, they can't get me
- 58:54Speaker 1: on the on you know, part of the drama, so
- 58:57Speaker 1: they can't air it. And it's always It's always worked
- 59:00Speaker 1: for me.
- 59:01Speaker 3: That's a good idea. Just careful going going to the
- 59:04Speaker 3: bathroom or something.
- 59:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, and learn how to turn the mics off.
- 59:11Speaker 1: How many times have you had to tell your friends?
- 59:13Speaker 1: I might it's like you're you're working for the FBI
- 59:20Speaker 1: or something, right.
- 59:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I got that girl, such a.
- 59:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 59:27Speaker 1: Well, Jody, it's been an awesome time hanging with you.
- 59:30Speaker 1: I really enjoyed getting to know you. I hope to
- 59:32Speaker 1: see you at Bravo Khan this year.
- 59:34Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Yeah. I had a good time.
- 59:39Speaker 2: Yeah, good time. Thank you for being so open, Jody.
- 59:41Speaker 2: It was so much fun interviewing you man.
- 59:43Speaker 3: Yeah. Really nice to see you guys.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Awesome. Well take care, Jody, have a good one.
- 59:48Speaker 2: See.
- 59:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that was fun.
- 59:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that was fun. I loved how open he was.
- 59:52Speaker 2: It was super cool.
- 59:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I and it all makes sense, which is super cool.
- 59:58Speaker 3: You know.
- 59:59Speaker 1: One of the of things I was concerned with is,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: you know, sometimes, and especially in my experience over here,
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: there's been actual real douchebags that are on the show
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: and they try they interview well, they talk well, they
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: present well, right, So I never want to interview those
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: guys because they're just gonna lie through their teeth. And
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: my concern was, I don't really know Jody much, but
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: there's this controversy going on, and you know, let's just
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: give it a shot. Let's see what happens.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: So he's very genuine to me.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I like the guy a lot. And it
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: sounds like he really cares about people and his family
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: and his obviously his relationship with Lisa. So totally cool guy.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: I like it.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: Loved it all right, my man.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: It's a great senior brother.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: I know, it's great senior man. We got to hang soon,
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: catch up.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: All right. I hope you're doing well. All right, same,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: all right, take care of bro, sayah bye.
