- 0:00Speaker 1: Light FM, getting you going here on a hump day.
- 0:01Speaker 1: It is 6.08. Cubby and Christine in the morning. Producer
- 0:04Speaker 1: Kristen in the background producing. But seriously, Christine, welcome back.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 0:08Speaker 3: I know you were down for the count over the weekend.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yeah, not fun.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Not fun at all. You had a fever the whole nine, right?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Was it typical, like your ballpark? What's the word I'm
- 0:19Speaker 1: looking for? Your typical.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Blah. Blah?
- 0:22Speaker 2: Just blah. Yeah.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Run of the mill. It was like a run of
- 0:25Speaker 3: the mill kind of cold?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Yeah, like you kind of don't know. I don't. Know
- 0:28Speaker 2: that it was a cold. I don't know what it was.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Spoke with my doctor on the phone. You know, did
- 0:32Speaker 2: the best we could. I just feel bad. You know,
- 0:36Speaker 2: I hate missing out. I hate not being here.
- 0:39Speaker 3: I do, too. I do, too. And we missed you.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I missed you guys, too.
- 0:43Speaker 3: John Legend was right there yesterday. He missed you.
- 0:46Speaker 2: You know, that was a big day that I wasn't
- 0:50Speaker 2: here for. I'm so sorry.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I know you've met him a long time ago, but
- 0:53Speaker 1: he's still, like, down to earth, super cool guy. We're
- 0:57Speaker 1: going to air the interview probably later this week, but
- 0:59Speaker 1: he came in a little after 9 yesterday, and we
- 1:02Speaker 1: recorded an interview, and it was cool. Talked about some
- 1:04Speaker 1: new music, has a new album coming out in a.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Couple of weeks.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I'm sure. The pictures look fantastic.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 1: But so, like, down to earth, like, you know, 22 years,
- 1:12Speaker 1: over 22 years he's been doing it, and he hasn't
- 1:14Speaker 1: changed since, I don't know if you remember this, but
- 1:17Speaker 1: when we used to work at that station down the hall.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Yeah. Do you remember we did a retreat? You do.
- 1:22Speaker 3: I do.
- 1:22Speaker 2: I remember really well.
- 1:23Speaker 1: They put all the DJs. We hung out at Chelsea
- 1:25Speaker 1: Piers one afternoon. It was a combination of work and play.
- 1:29Speaker 1: We were going over all the things for the new
- 1:31Speaker 1: fall season or something.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And then we had like two hours to play around.
- 1:35Speaker 1: But they brought John Legend in, this.
- 1:37Speaker 3: New artist we'd never heard of. And he had his
- 1:40Speaker 3: piano and he did Ordinary People, his first ever hit.
- 1:43Speaker 3: That was in 2004. We're like, you know, maybe this
- 1:45Speaker 3: guy will do something.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:46Speaker 2: He's going to be famous.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:48Speaker 2: He actually, a little bit of trivia from my world,
- 1:51Speaker 2: so you know. Eric is a drummer, had his own band.
- 1:54Speaker 2: So John Legend, before he was John Legend, I think
- 1:57Speaker 2: his name was Stevens?
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yep.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Opened for Eric's band.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Get out.
- 2:02Speaker 2: So he's got like a poster. And he's like, he's
- 2:05Speaker 2: got his CD, like an EP.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:09Speaker 2: And then years later, Eric played with John Legend at
- 2:14Speaker 2: Kennedy Center.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm trying to think of like all the tie-ins.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:20Speaker 1: You know, you forget how many famous people your fiance, Eric,
- 2:24Speaker 1: has drummed with.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:26Speaker 3: You were saying like you could watch TV.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah. And he's yes.
- 2:29Speaker 3: And he there's a band playing on TV.
- 2:31Speaker 2: He's like, oh, you know. Oh, yeah.
- 2:32Speaker 3: That's my friend.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Oh, no, honey. You met him. No, you don't remember.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Come on. You know, I'm supposed to keep track.
- 2:37Speaker 3: That's pretty cool of everybody.
- 2:39Speaker 2: And it's hard.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Wow.
- 2:40Speaker 2: But yeah. But John Legend definitely stands out for Eric and,
- 2:43Speaker 2: you know, said the same. He said he was a
- 2:45Speaker 2: really great guy. You could tell he was a super talent,
- 2:47Speaker 2: you know.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Well, we're going to bring Eric in here and drum
- 2:49Speaker 3: a little bit live on the air.
- 2:50Speaker 2: He can drum a little bit. Maybe he can do
- 2:52Speaker 2: the interview for me when I'm not well, because he
- 2:55Speaker 2: seemed to know a lot about him.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Well, you'll be here for this interview today. Judy Torres
- 2:58Speaker 3: will be live in studio.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Oh, great. Okay.
- 3:00Speaker 1: She's our colleague down the hall over at KTU. And,
- 3:03Speaker 1: of course, she's known from back in the 80s and 90s,
- 3:07Speaker 1: a lot of freestyle hits. Judy Torres has a new
- 3:10Speaker 1: memoir out, and we'll talk to her. She'll be here live.
- 3:13Speaker 1: just after 8 o'clock here at Light FM. Welcome back, Christine.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 3:16Speaker 6: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 3:20Speaker 6: Next on Light FM.
- 3:22Speaker 5: Okay.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I need to tell you two things.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Covey and Christine's. Two pretty cool things.
- 3:28Speaker 1: All right, Christine, we're going back to the 80s. The
- 3:32Speaker 1: Miami Vice people. They're doing a Miami Vice reboot starring
- 3:35Speaker 1: Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler, and they're going to
- 3:37Speaker 1: be filming in New York City. And if you're a
- 3:40Speaker 1: police officer in the tri-state area, And you think you
- 3:43Speaker 1: can pass for a cop from the 80s, basically.
- 3:46Speaker 3: This might be a cool thing for you. The casting
- 3:48Speaker 3: directors are.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Looking for male law enforcement in their 20s through the
- 3:52Speaker 1: 50s to cast as extras.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Mustaches are preferred, but not full beards.
- 3:59Speaker 1: And they plan on filming beginning next week into next month. Now,
- 4:03Speaker 1: if you're interested, head to castingnetworks.com. Castingnetworks.com. But looking for
- 4:08Speaker 1: real police officers... New York, New Jersey, heck, even Connecticut,
- 4:12Speaker 1: maybe Port Authority. I mean, just go to castingnetworks.com.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Can you mention the cast members one more time?
- 4:19Speaker 3: Michael B. Jordan, Austin Butler.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Why, what did I say?
- 4:22Speaker 2: You just made our day.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Did I say?
- 4:24Speaker 2: That's a really nice cast.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Oh, oh, oh.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I like that.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Oh, they're hot.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Oh, I got you. I thought maybe I said Michael
- 4:30Speaker 3: Jordan like the basketball player. Because lately I've been like. No, no, you.
- 4:35Speaker 3: I think I had a stroke. You did. Because a
- 4:37Speaker 3: couple of days ago, I just been, I can't find words.
- 4:41Speaker 3: I don't know what's going on. So I was afraid
- 4:43Speaker 3: maybe I messed something up.
- 4:44Speaker 2: No, I was just enjoying hearing about the cast.
- 4:47Speaker 3: So Michael B. Jordan, Austin Butler. Yes.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Will be in town filming.
- 4:51Speaker 3: It'll be hot like Miami.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:52Speaker 3: What's your cool thing?
- 4:54Speaker 2: Just as hot. It's Looney Tunes. Krispy Kreme and Warner
- 4:58Speaker 2: Brothers have teamed up for a new donut collection. The
- 5:01Speaker 2: Looney Tunes Halloween Collection. I love this. So it includes
- 5:05Speaker 2: four new donuts decorated with the classic characters Bugs Bunny,
- 5:08Speaker 2: Lola Bunny, Tweety, Sylvester, And has. We've got details on them,
- 5:14Speaker 2: like Bugs is an unglazed donut filled with chocolate dulce cream,
- 5:18Speaker 2: and Lola is an original glazed ring decorated with gold
- 5:22Speaker 2: sprinkles and a swirl of buttercream flavor icing. They all
- 5:26Speaker 2: sound really, really good. It's a special collection. It's available
- 5:29Speaker 2: at Krispy Kreme starting today for a limited time.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Thank you very much. Welcome back, Christine. It's Light FM.
- 5:36Speaker 6: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 5:39Speaker 6: Next on Light FM.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Okay, if you're about to have breakfast and you're right
- 5:43Speaker 3: in front of your table, can you hang in there
- 5:46Speaker 3: for 21 more minutes?
- 5:47Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, you have to.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Don't eat until 7. It's 106.7 Light FM, Cubby and Christine.
- 5:52Speaker 1: We have a story about the best time for breakfast,
- 5:54Speaker 1: and apparently it's between 7 and 8, right?
- 5:56Speaker 3: Yes. So what's the deal?
- 5:58Speaker 2: I guess if you're working normal hours, you can do that.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I'm thinking if you're not up supremely early. Yeah, researchers
- 6:06Speaker 2: are saying that you should be eating between 7 and 8.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Because you'll have the lowest mortality risk.
- 6:13Speaker 3: And what happens if you wait until 8? If you
- 6:14Speaker 3: wait later.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Then it's linked to a 10% higher risk of death.
- 6:20Speaker 3: If you eat breakfast between 8 and 10?
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 3: 10% higher risk of death?
- 6:24Speaker 4: Yes.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Huh.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Between 10 a.m. and noon, 19% higher. And for people
- 6:29Speaker 2: who don't eat their first meal until afternoon, that risk
- 6:33Speaker 2: goes up to 29%.
- 6:33Speaker 6: So....
- 6:36Speaker 2: Meal timing can affect the body's internal clock, which plays
- 6:39Speaker 2: a role in your circadian rhythm and your metabolism. And
- 6:43Speaker 2: so also they say that eating dinner between 7 and
- 6:46Speaker 2: 8 p.m.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Is the best.
- 6:48Speaker 2: And you should avoid eating after midnight. Again, I think
- 6:51Speaker 2: this is all like, how does your day pitch? Do
- 6:54Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 6:55Speaker 3: We're all different, right?
- 6:55Speaker 2: Like, do you start your day earlier? Because dinner between
- 6:59Speaker 2: 7 and 8 sounds late to me.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Right.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Like everything for us is shifted about three hours ahead.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Yeah. So maybe if you're up right now.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Like if you get up at 3.30 like we do,
- 7:09Speaker 1: 3 a.m., you're probably having breakfast maybe at 5.30, 6 a.m.
- 7:14Speaker 3: And having dinner at 4 p.m. Right.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Makes more sense.
- 7:16Speaker 1: But that's pretty crazy. So again, between 7 and 8
- 7:20Speaker 1: is the sweet spot.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 2: It just looks like the message I'm taking away from
- 7:25Speaker 2: this is the earlier you start in the day you're eating,
- 7:28Speaker 2: the better, the healthier for you. I mean, that's why
- 7:31Speaker 2: I was told by a nutritionist years ago. She's like,
- 7:33Speaker 2: get your metabolism going like as soon as you get up.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Gosh.
- 7:37Speaker 3: I want to try intermittent fasting. I know this is
- 7:41Speaker 3: off topic.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 7:42Speaker 3: But Kristen gave me a weird look. Is it hard?
- 7:44Speaker 3: Have you done it before? No? You've never done it?
- 7:47Speaker 1: I'm kind of thinking about, you know, how we like
- 7:48Speaker 1: get up in the morning, just have coffee and don't
- 7:50Speaker 1: eat anything until maybe lunch.
- 7:53Speaker 3: And I don't know about you, but we eat lunch
- 7:54Speaker 3: like at 11 a.m.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Because we get up so early. Yes. But is that,
- 7:58Speaker 3: I think you have to go longer than that.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Well, you get like a, do you get a six
- 8:01Speaker 2: hour window to eat or something?
- 8:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I have to do more research on it, but I've
- 8:06Speaker 1: heard great things about it. Especially if you want to
- 8:07Speaker 1: shed a few pounds like I do.
- 8:09Speaker 2: But the thing is, you've got like all you're thinking
- 8:12Speaker 2: to do really, really early, like right now. So like
- 8:15Speaker 2: you need some fuel right now. So maybe your window,
- 8:19Speaker 2: like where you would eat, would start super, super early
- 8:21Speaker 2: and just close. Boom. At like two or three in
- 8:24Speaker 2: the afternoon.
- 8:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 6: Right.
- 8:26Speaker 1: If you're trying to let me know, 44363. We're on text,
- 8:29Speaker 1: always available to hear from you.
- 8:31Speaker 6: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 8:34Speaker 6: Next on Light FM.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Hey, if you're driving right now, are you driving in
- 8:38Speaker 1: the best city to drive in?
- 8:40Speaker 3: You're shaking your head no, Christine.
- 8:42Speaker 2: No, you're not.
- 8:43Speaker 3: We have a list. It's 106.7 Light FM, Cubby, Christine,
- 8:46Speaker 3: and Kristen.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:50Speaker 3: All right, where is the best city to drive in?
- 8:53Speaker 2: It's nowhere near here, Covey. It's Scottsdale, Arizona.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Well, that makes sense. Plenty of desert to swerve. Oh, okay,
- 9:01Speaker 3: I've got plenty of room to go off the road.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I feel like this is all, we could have predicted this.
- 9:06Speaker 2: So WalletHub did a survey, right, about the best and
- 9:09Speaker 2: the worst cities to drive in. And it's rated on
- 9:12Speaker 2: driver friendliness, the cost of ownership and maintenance, traffic, infrastructure,
- 9:18Speaker 2: gas prices. Put it all together and what do you get?
- 9:21Speaker 2: The best city to drive in is Scottsdale, Arizona, and
- 9:24Speaker 2: the worst is Philadelphia.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Okay.
- 9:28Speaker 2: New York, no way to make number one. We're at
- 9:30Speaker 2: number four on the worst.
- 9:32Speaker 3: On the worst.
- 9:33Speaker 2: So beating us out, we have Philadelphia at number one
- 9:35Speaker 2: for the worst, followed by Washington, D.C., L.A., New York City,
- 9:41Speaker 2: then Detroit, Chicago, Oakland, California, Seattle, Baltimore, and San Francisco.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Okay.
- 9:48Speaker 3: You know, it makes sense with Philly.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I don't mean to come down hard here on Pennsylvania,
- 9:51Speaker 1: but I've noticed a lot of Pennsylvania license plates drive wacky.
- 9:56Speaker 1: And if you have a Pennsylvania license plate, I apologize
- 9:58Speaker 1: to you. Maybe you're not the one. But I seem
- 10:00Speaker 1: to notice a lot of PA license plates do crazy
- 10:03Speaker 1: maneuvers on the road.
- 10:04Speaker 3: It's just an observation. But then again, in Pennsylvania, they
- 10:07Speaker 3: may be saying... New Jersey.
- 10:08Speaker 2: People are nuts.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 10:10Speaker 2: But we always think so, right? Like you're in New
- 10:12Speaker 2: Jersey and you see New York plates and it's like, oh,
- 10:14Speaker 2: New York driver. And then you're in New York and
- 10:16Speaker 2: you see Jersey plates and it's all Jersey driver.
- 10:18Speaker 3: It's all subjective where you are, I guess.
- 10:20Speaker 2: It really, really is. But yeah, Philadelphia is very challenging
- 10:23Speaker 2: to drive through, though.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:25Speaker 2: And we're New York City drivers and I find it
- 10:28Speaker 2: a little intimidating.
- 10:29Speaker 3: And we've been doing it for years. Yeah. Yet it
- 10:31Speaker 3: still gets intimidating. It does.
- 10:33Speaker 2: So the best cities, you know, if we want to
- 10:34Speaker 2: move and we want an easy ride. Scottsdale, Arizona, Boise, Idaho,
- 10:38Speaker 2: Fort Wayne, Indiana, Lincoln, Nebraska, and Corpus Christi in Texas.
- 10:42Speaker 3: The best cities to drive in right there. All right. Well,
- 10:45Speaker 3: you'll be doing a traffic update in just a bit.
- 10:47Speaker 3: We'll talk about our city. Judy Torres. You know her.
- 10:50Speaker 3: You love her.
- 10:50Speaker 1: She's on the radio. She has freestyle music. She has
- 10:53Speaker 1: a memoir.
- 10:54Speaker 3: And we'll talk to her live in studio at 8 o'clock.
- 10:56Speaker 3: And what do you have coming up in the news?
- 10:58Speaker 2: How to tell if you're upper class. You may not
- 11:00Speaker 2: even know it and you are.
- 11:01Speaker 6: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 11:05Speaker 6: Next on Light FM.
- 11:07Speaker 2: They make sleep easy.
- 11:09Speaker 3: WLTW New York.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Light FM 658 on this Wednesday. Christine is back and
- 11:14Speaker 1: she has everything you need to know.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Good morning, Christine.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Good morning, Covey. Today marks the third anniversary of the
- 11:19Speaker 2: Hamas attack on Israel launched from Gaza. that resulted in
- 11:22Speaker 2: more than 1,200 deaths and several hundred kidnappings. And people
- 11:27Speaker 2: are being remembered today. President Trump says he's going to
- 11:30Speaker 2: speak with Vladimir Putin over reports of the plague in Russia.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Trump said he hopes to provide a new update about
- 11:37Speaker 2: the situation in Russia by Wednesday. Officials said at first
- 11:41Speaker 2: a woman at an anti-plague research institute died from an
- 11:45Speaker 2: unspecified form of the disease, then later said that that
- 11:49Speaker 2: woman died from pneumonia. A little bit closer to home,
- 11:53Speaker 2: an iconic New Jersey landmark is officially up for sale.
- 11:56Speaker 2: So if you have $ 85 million, Atlantic City's Steel Pier
- 12:01Speaker 2: is on the market. The owners are saying they hope
- 12:04Speaker 2: to maintain it as an amusement park, but it's just
- 12:07Speaker 2: gotten too expensive for them. So they hope to see
- 12:10Speaker 2: someone with another vision for it.
- 12:12Speaker 1: If you had $ 85 million, Christine Nagy, you would totally
- 12:15Speaker 1: turn that into a Starbucks.
- 12:17Speaker 2: One big giant Starbucks.
- 12:18Speaker 3: With a Ferris wheel.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:20Speaker 2: I still, yes. Want to have some fun there too, right?
- 12:22Speaker 2: With the Ferris wheel. It was rebuilt in the late 1980s,
- 12:25Speaker 2: by the way, but it is dating back to the
- 12:27Speaker 2: late 19th century. And we're just days away from the
- 12:31Speaker 2: arrival of a New York City winter staple. The Rockefeller
- 12:35Speaker 2: Center ice skating rink is opening on Saturday.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Make it slow down. Things are flying here.
- 12:41Speaker 5: I know.
- 12:41Speaker 2: So sports, Yankees play the Rays game three tonight. They've
- 12:45Speaker 2: got to win. We know this.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Yes. I was going to say win or go home,
- 12:47Speaker 3: but they're already home.
- 12:48Speaker 2: They're home.
- 12:49Speaker 3: So if they lose.
- 12:50Speaker 2: So just win.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Just win. Just win.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Liberty play Atlanta Dream game two tonight. Rangers beat the
- 12:55Speaker 2: Islanders 5-2. Devils lost to the Mammoth 5-3. And apparently
- 12:59Speaker 2: you may be upper class and not even know it
- 13:02Speaker 2: if you pay for these things. Home cleaning. A personal shopper.
- 13:07Speaker 2: A full service groundskeeper. A private chef. A personal trainer. Okay. No,
- 13:19Speaker 2: we don't have these things. You know how many times
- 13:21Speaker 2: we've done these surveys, like if you could have one thing,
- 13:24Speaker 2: what would you have? And people are kind of like
- 13:26Speaker 2: a chef or.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Chauffeur.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Yes. Like you said. I, I, I, personal assistant. Personal assistant.
- 13:32Speaker 3: I have decided. Yes.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Well, that's where AI is coming for us.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Oh.
- 13:35Speaker 3: And we're all going to be, you know, dead soon.
- 13:37Speaker 2: No, I was hoping for like a real person.
- 13:39Speaker 3: A real, I know. Let's keep it that way.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Yes.
- 13:41Speaker 2: All right. A real person. And this person would keep
- 13:43Speaker 2: me company too.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Yes.
- 13:45Speaker 2: And help me stay on track.
- 13:46Speaker 3: With blood and a heartbeat and everything.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 13:48Speaker 3: A human.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Yep.
- 13:49Speaker 1: And we're guaranteed human here at 106.7 Light FM with
- 13:52Speaker 1: Cubby and Christine in the morning.
- 13:54Speaker 6: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 13:57Speaker 6: Next on Light FM.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I want to go back and talk about something we
- 14:00Speaker 1: just talked about, but I want to elaborate more on it.
- 14:03Speaker 3: It's Light FM, Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen. What were you
- 14:06Speaker 3: saying now?
- 14:07Speaker 1: There are certain things you could check off, and if
- 14:09Speaker 1: you check off a lot of these, you're considered kind
- 14:12Speaker 1: of rich.
- 14:12Speaker 2: You're upper class and you may not know it.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Upper class, yeah.
- 14:15Speaker 2: But I think you know it. But anyway, yeah. And
- 14:17Speaker 2: this is like according to Money Digest. If you have
- 14:19Speaker 2: a home cleaning service, a personal shopper, A full service groundskeeper,
- 14:24Speaker 2: a private chef, a personal trainer, private security, a chauffeur.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Now I have two of those things. Does that mean
- 14:30Speaker 3: I'm rich?
- 14:31Speaker 2: Which two?
- 14:31Speaker 1: Well, I have a housekeeper and I have a landscaping
- 14:34Speaker 1: company because I'm not going to cut the grass.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Right.
- 14:37Speaker 2: But you don't have like a housekeeper like Alice on
- 14:39Speaker 2: Brady Bunch like live-in.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Oh, like a live-in? No, no, no, no.
- 14:42Speaker 2: No, like I have. somebody coming.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Every two weeks? Yeah, yeah. Oh, that doesn't count.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that doesn't make me upper class.
- 14:48Speaker 3: You need someone that's there and making meals.
- 14:50Speaker 2: And kind of cleaning all day long. Oh, please.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Making the bed. Please.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Please do this. Like, is the universe here, you cubby?
- 14:58Speaker 2: I need help. Yeah, I was just thinking, if you
- 15:00Speaker 2: could have one of those, you could only choose one.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Which would it be? Would you want a private chef?
- 15:08Speaker 5: See.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Would you want... It'd be between a chef.
- 15:12Speaker 3: It'd be between that and a housekeeper.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:14Speaker 3: But the housekeeper, like you mentioned, like an Alice from
- 15:16Speaker 3: Brady Bunch.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:17Speaker 3: That could be a chef too.
- 15:18Speaker 2: She's like, well, Alice did everything.
- 15:20Speaker 3: She really did.
- 15:21Speaker 2: She was amazing.
- 15:21Speaker 1: And I always thought that the Brady Bunch had a
- 15:23Speaker 1: cool house because they had a grill inside the kitchen.
- 15:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 15:27Speaker 2: That was awesome.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Sorry about that one.
- 15:29Speaker 2: But no, that's okay. So if you had to choose one,
- 15:33Speaker 2: I know, so you have housekeeping coming in like every
- 15:36Speaker 2: couple of weeks. I think a lot of us do now.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Are you going housekeeping?
- 15:40Speaker 2: No, I... I said before, I need a personal assistant.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Oh, you said that.
- 15:45Speaker 2: I want one so bad.
- 15:46Speaker 3: How about you, Kristen? What are you doing?
- 15:48Speaker 4: I want a nanny.
- 15:49Speaker 3: They want a nanny.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Oh, Kristen wants a nanny.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Of course.
- 15:51Speaker 2: That makes sense.
- 15:53Speaker 3: All right.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Well, text us at 44363 because we're going to pick
- 15:56Speaker 1: somebody at random and give you what you asked for.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Oh, that would be really nice. Well, maybe if they
- 16:01Speaker 2: want a chauffeur because, you know, you're good with getting
- 16:03Speaker 2: the kids to their appointments and everything.
- 16:05Speaker 3: And I did drive for Lyft for a whole two weeks.
- 16:07Speaker 6: Oh, you did?
- 16:07Speaker 4: You did.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Can you believe that?
- 16:09Speaker 2: What happened? Did you burn out or you just?
- 16:12Speaker 1: Well, I realized that you don't know where you're going
- 16:14Speaker 1: until you pick somebody up.
- 16:16Speaker 3: And I thought it'd be fun. This is before kids.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:19Speaker 3: And I thought it'd be fun to just, I like driving.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 16:21Speaker 1: So my wife said, why don't you just do Uber
- 16:23Speaker 1: or Lyft? I don't know why I picked Lyft, but
- 16:25Speaker 1: I picked Lyft and they were fine. And I picked
- 16:28Speaker 1: people up in my neighborhood. And you don't know where
- 16:30Speaker 1: you're going until you get in the car and you
- 16:31Speaker 1: hit a button. So you could be in New Jersey
- 16:34Speaker 1: and boom, you got to go to Queens and you
- 16:36Speaker 1: already have the person in your car.
- 16:37Speaker 3: You can't cancel the ride.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Get out.
- 16:41Speaker 3: That was like six years ago. So I don't know
- 16:42Speaker 3: if it's changed. But I'm pretty sure you don't know
- 16:44Speaker 3: the route you're going until they get in the car.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 16:47Speaker 3: But I did a lot of Newark runs.
- 16:49Speaker 5: Right.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I had East Brunswick to Newark a lot, which I
- 16:52Speaker 1: didn't mind that. But I'd be on the turnpike again
- 16:54Speaker 1: at 4 o'clock, 5 o'clock in the afternoon.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Oh, that's stressful. That was stressful. But anyway.
- 16:57Speaker 2: No, this would be a chauffeur, so it wouldn't matter.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Where you want to go or what you want to do,
- 17:02Speaker 2: this person is there.
- 17:04Speaker 3: We look forward to hearing from you, Light FM.
- 17:06Speaker 6: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 17:09Speaker 6: Next on Light FM.
- 17:11Speaker 3: You pretty good at trivia?
- 17:13Speaker 6: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Hump Day Edition, Trivia Battle. Christine's back from under the weather.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Welcome back, Christine.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Happy to be here. Thank you.
- 17:22Speaker 1: On Team Cubby today, Christine, is Susan from Woodbridge, New Jersey,
- 17:27Speaker 1: home of Jose Teos, a great restaurant.
- 17:29Speaker 3: There in Woodbridge. Hey, Susan, good morning.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Hi, good morning.
- 17:33Speaker 3: You ever go to Jose Tejas?
- 17:35Speaker 4: You know, I've been in Woodbridge for 31 years and
- 17:37Speaker 4: I have never been there.
- 17:39Speaker 2: It's time.
- 17:40Speaker 3: I'm telling you, it's great Mexican food.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's definitely time to go.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Yeah. Yes.
- 17:44Speaker 3: What do you do for a living, Susan?
- 17:46Speaker 2: I work in Woodbridge ShopRite.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Okay. Well, thank you for all you do and good
- 17:50Speaker 3: luck to you in our trivia battle.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 17:52Speaker 6: And Wednesday, Tuesday is my birthday.
- 17:55Speaker 5: Oh.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Hopefully I win. Next week's Tuesday. Okay. All right. Well,
- 17:58Speaker 3: happy early birthday.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Happy birthday.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Yeah. Who's Susan's competition?
- 18:02Speaker 2: Jennifer in Connecticut. Good morning, Jennifer. Good morning.
- 18:06Speaker 3: How are you?
- 18:07Speaker 2: I'm doing well, thanks. So I understand you played yesterday.
- 18:09Speaker 2: You did not win. So we're going to make good today, right? Yes, yes.
- 18:15Speaker 1: In fact, producer Kristen put Jennifer on your team because
- 18:18Speaker 1: she lost on my team yesterday.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Okay, all right.
- 18:20Speaker 3: So maybe, you know, that'll change things up.
- 18:21Speaker 2: We'll see how it goes. Yes, exactly. Jennifer, where are
- 18:23Speaker 2: you headed off to today? Oh, I'm heading to work.
- 18:27Speaker 2: What do you do?
- 18:27Speaker 3: I'm an ultrasound technologist.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Ah, very nice.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Okay.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Well, good luck to you both. We love you both,
- 18:32Speaker 1: but only one can win. Susan, you'll get three questions.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Jennifer will get three questions. Best out of three will
- 18:37Speaker 1: win our trivia battle. So, Susan, Jesse Eisenberg, he's played
- 18:42Speaker 1: a villain in a pair of DC Extended Universe superhero films.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Which villain is it? Is it A, the Joker, B,
- 18:50Speaker 1: Lex Luthor, or C, Sinistro?
- 18:53Speaker 3: Lex Luthor. You're right. And you're up 1-0, Susan.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Okay, here we go, Jennifer. Which of these Jude Law
- 19:01Speaker 2: movies did Kate Winslet co-star in? Was it A, The Holiday, B, Alfie, C, Closer?
- 19:07Speaker 2: Can you repeat the question?
- 19:11Speaker 4: Yes.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Which of these Jude Law movies did Kate Winslet co-star in?
- 19:16Speaker 2: Was it A, The Holiday, B, Alfie, or C, Closer? A.
- 19:24Speaker 4: The Holiday?
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yes. You've got it. Yes.
- 19:27Speaker 3: All tied up one to one.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Okay, Susan, you'll be happy to know that the 2026
- 19:32Speaker 1: North American Wife Carrying Championship is coming up where men
- 19:36Speaker 1: must carry their wives through an obstacle course. And it
- 19:40Speaker 1: happens this Saturday in what state? A, Wyoming, B, Idaho,
- 19:46Speaker 1: or C, Maine?
- 19:47Speaker 4: I think it's C.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Maine. C, Maine is correct. We've got a good game here.
- 19:55Speaker 2: We do. Jennifer, Ruby is the traditional gift for which
- 19:58Speaker 2: wedding anniversary? A, 1st, B, 10th, C, 40th? B, 10th. No,
- 20:09Speaker 2: I'm sorry. It's 40th.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Okay, that means Susan can win it.
- 20:14Speaker 2: And you've got to hang in there a long time
- 20:15Speaker 2: to get a ruby. Wow, 40 years.
- 20:18Speaker 3: I've got like 28 more years to go, I think.
- 20:20Speaker 3: All right, here we go.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Susan, which of these drivers is now retired from NASCAR?
- 20:27Speaker 1: He no longer drives for NASCAR. Is it A, Kevin Harvick, B,
- 20:32Speaker 1: Joey Logano, or C, Kyle Larson?
- 20:36Speaker 3: I think it's D, Kyle Larson. C, Kyle Larson. Jennifer
- 20:41Speaker 3: is still in the game.
- 20:42Speaker 2: All right, here we go, Jennifer. Let's tie it up.
- 20:45Speaker 2: What team made WNBA history by becoming the first number
- 20:49Speaker 2: eight seed to eliminate a number one seed in a
- 20:52Speaker 2: playoff series? A, New York Liberty. B, Minnesota Lynx. C,
- 20:57Speaker 2: Atlanta Dream. The Liberty.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Yes.
- 21:02Speaker 2: We have ourselves a tie.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Day number three of a tie.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 21:06Speaker 5: All righty.
- 21:07Speaker 1: So, Producer Kristen, write down a number between 1 and 100,
- 21:09Speaker 1: and whoever's closest will win the game. And, Jennifer, you
- 21:13Speaker 1: were part of a tie yesterday, of course, so you
- 21:16Speaker 1: go first. What number do you think Kristen wrote down
- 21:18Speaker 1: between 1 and 100?
- 21:19Speaker 2: Let's go with 38.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Susan, your guess?
- 21:26Speaker 5: 57.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Kristen wrote down 51, and.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Susan said 57. She's closest.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Jennifer, you've lost again, but we're going to have you
- 21:34Speaker 1: play again, okay?
- 21:35Speaker 3: All right. Sounds good. I mean, seriously.
- 21:38Speaker 2: I'm so sorry, Jennifer. That's okay. Aw, thank you. Try
- 21:41Speaker 2: again tomorrow. You've been great. And Susan, congratulations.
- 21:46Speaker 4: Thank you so much. I never won anything.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Oh, well, you're going to NYC WFF's iconic Grand Tasting
- 21:53Speaker 2: overlooking the East River at the Seaport.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Ooh, and a sequel.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Nice.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Yeah, hang on one second. Kristen will get your information.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I feel so bad when they've called two days in
- 22:02Speaker 1: a row.
- 22:02Speaker 2: And they lose.
- 22:03Speaker 4: I know, I know, I know.
- 22:04Speaker 6: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 22:08Speaker 6: Next on Light FM.
- 22:09Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM with Cubby and Christine in the morning.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Well, this is kind of cool, Christine. Yes, it is.
- 22:15Speaker 3: It's not often we have a guest come up that
- 22:16Speaker 3: has her own building ID.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I do, I do.
- 22:20Speaker 3: It rarely happens. But Judy Torres is in the house.
- 22:23Speaker 3: You know her, you love her.
- 22:24Speaker 6: Yes.
- 22:25Speaker 3: You know her from her music. You know her from KTU.
- 22:28Speaker 3: She's a friend. She's a colleague.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:30Speaker 3: And she's here today to talk about a new book.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Your first ever book, right?
- 22:34Speaker 4: My first ever book, No Reason to Cry, a memoir.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Very excited. Very, very excited.
- 22:38Speaker 2: This gorgeous cover, by the way.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Yes.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Really beautiful and really emotional, deep. photo thank you love it.
- 22:45Speaker 4: Yeah we when we did the photo when we did
- 22:47Speaker 4: the photo shoot I just I was getting tired of
- 22:49Speaker 4: like looking at the camera directly and smiling so I
- 22:52Speaker 4: just kind of went into my own zone and I
- 22:53Speaker 4: was like what is like no reason to cry look
- 22:56Speaker 4: like in a picture.
- 22:57Speaker 5: And that's I just thought yeah that's good yeah so
- 23:01Speaker 5: no reason to cry has been your song your stage
- 23:05Speaker 5: show and now your book what is it about the
- 23:08Speaker 5: meaning of no reason to cry that resonates.
- 23:10Speaker 4: With you I think it's that in life we all
- 23:13Speaker 4: suffer from traumas, right? Like nobody goes unscathed in this world.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Everyone goes through something. And I think that a lot
- 23:19Speaker 4: of times people get stuck when that happens and they
- 23:22Speaker 4: don't know how to work through it. And so I
- 23:24Speaker 4: feel like you have to make a decision to just
- 23:27Speaker 4: keep on keeping on. And then eventually you realize that
- 23:31Speaker 4: your story is not defining you. It's just helping you.
- 23:36Speaker 4: So if you can figure out and decide that you're
- 23:38Speaker 4: just going to go forward, then the trauma has meaning
- 23:42Speaker 4: instead of like, oh my God, this happened to me.
- 23:45Speaker 4: So you're not feeling sorry for yourself. You're not victimized.
- 23:47Speaker 4: So no reason to cry means pick yourself up and
- 23:50Speaker 4: know that in the end, there is no reason to cry.
- 23:52Speaker 3: There you go.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Yeah, because Judy, right now, I know so many people
- 23:56Speaker 2: so many of us are going through difficult moments and
- 23:59Speaker 2: stages and feeling like you said, like, why is this
- 24:02Speaker 2: happening to me? And is this ever going to end?
- 24:05Speaker 2: And is that why you felt it was important to
- 24:07Speaker 2: come and share your story? Because you really serve as
- 24:10Speaker 2: an inspiration for us.
- 24:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I think especially now, you know, at my age,
- 24:15Speaker 4: and my age, years of experience, 58 years of experience,
- 24:20Speaker 4: I felt like this is the time because it's now
- 24:22Speaker 4: or never, we're running out of time. And I feel
- 24:25Speaker 4: like You can't put a question mark where God has
- 24:28Speaker 4: put a period. So if you are feeling bad, you
- 24:32Speaker 4: have a choice. You can either decide to say, oh,
- 24:34Speaker 4: my God, this happened to me. Or you can say,
- 24:37Speaker 4: what am I going to do about it? So instead
- 24:39Speaker 4: of asking, why did this happen? Ask, how can I
- 24:41Speaker 4: fix it? So I thought, yeah, I thought this was
- 24:43Speaker 4: a good time to do it, especially that life is
- 24:46Speaker 4: so precious. And as you get older, you start to
- 24:49Speaker 4: realize how precious it really is.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Now, your book has a lot of tough moments in there.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Which one do you want to address on the radio?
- 24:57Speaker 4: You can address any one you want. I put it
- 25:00Speaker 4: on paper so we can talk about anything.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I had no idea, and I've known you for a
- 25:03Speaker 3: long time.
- 25:04Speaker 1: What a dark period you were going through in 1994
- 25:08Speaker 1: with a suicide attempt.
- 25:09Speaker 4: Yeah, it was really, really hard. I was at my
- 25:13Speaker 4: lowest in my life. I went from having three to
- 25:16Speaker 4: five shows a weekend to absolutely nothing. You know, I
- 25:20Speaker 4: couldn't pay my mortgage. I didn't have any shows all
- 25:22Speaker 4: of a sudden. I wasn't on the radio anymore.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Is it because the music was changing?
- 25:25Speaker 4: Yeah, the music was changing and they had decided that
- 25:28Speaker 4: they weren't playing freestyle anymore.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Right, because freestyle was really huge in the 80s and
- 25:32Speaker 1: into the early 90s, actually. So, yeah, 94 makes sense
- 25:34Speaker 1: because it was kind of changing then.
- 25:36Speaker 4: So all of a sudden, boom, like it literally happened
- 25:38Speaker 4: in one day with one sentence. We are no longer
- 25:41Speaker 4: playing freestyle on the radio. And it was just like, what?
- 25:43Speaker 4: So then I had debt collectors calling me. I had
- 25:46Speaker 4: a boyfriend who was, I had broken up with him
- 25:49Speaker 4: and he was stalking me for like a year and
- 25:51Speaker 4: a half. It was a true, true nightmare. And I
- 25:54Speaker 4: just hit rock bottom. But then I realized it's not
- 25:57Speaker 4: that I really wanted to die. I just wanted the
- 26:00Speaker 4: pain to stop. And I think for people who are
- 26:03Speaker 4: suffering from depression, that's what you've got to remember. It's
- 26:06Speaker 4: not that you really want to go. It's that you're
- 26:08Speaker 4: in pain and you don't know how to get the
- 26:10Speaker 4: pain to stop. So I think it's important that you
- 26:13Speaker 4: get help. I think it's important that you change your environment, right?
- 26:16Speaker 4: Because your internal conversation can get really bad. So get
- 26:20Speaker 4: out of the house, get up, call someone, do something.
- 26:23Speaker 4: Don't stay in the same place because that's where you
- 26:26Speaker 4: just go down the abyss further and further.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Right.
- 26:28Speaker 3: And your mind takes control. Yeah. Yeah.
- 26:31Speaker 2: And Judy, I think, you know, your music, just the
- 26:34Speaker 2: way you live your life, I think you've brought people
- 26:36Speaker 2: so much joy. And I don't know that we ever
- 26:40Speaker 2: could have imagined you were going through all of this
- 26:43Speaker 2: at the same time.
- 26:44Speaker 4: Well, I think that's the thing about depression sometimes. There
- 26:47Speaker 4: are people who are functioning with it very well. So
- 26:50Speaker 4: I would still once in a while do a show,
- 26:52Speaker 4: and then I would go home and just bawl my
- 26:55Speaker 4: eyes out for four hours. But nobody ever knew.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Yeah, because most people are wired after a show, and
- 26:59Speaker 1: they can't fall asleep for four hours.
- 27:01Speaker 3: You're still on adrenaline. But you would actually kind of
- 27:03Speaker 3: go into.
- 27:04Speaker 4: A dark hole. Yeah, it was really bad. The good
- 27:07Speaker 4: thing is that Once I got help, I had a
- 27:09Speaker 4: lot of people around me who were helping. And so
- 27:11Speaker 4: people would recognize the signs. Oh, we haven't heard from
- 27:14Speaker 4: her in a couple of days. Let's check on her.
- 27:16Speaker 4: I think that's important. When you know someone really well
- 27:19Speaker 4: and you notice all of a sudden they're not giving
- 27:20Speaker 4: you a call, pick up the phone and call them
- 27:22Speaker 4: and say, hey, are you okay? And then after they say,
- 27:26Speaker 4: I'm fine, say, no, are you really okay?
- 27:29Speaker 3: How are you really?
- 27:30Speaker 1: But a lot of people still don't tell the truth though. Like, oh,
- 27:33Speaker 1: I'm fine, I'm fine. And you try to press them.
- 27:36Speaker 1: And they're just not giving it up. But you know
- 27:38Speaker 1: something's there.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it's true. But you're right. You've got to pry
- 27:41Speaker 3: it out of people so you can help them.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Was music, show business, acting, all of it, like always,
- 27:48Speaker 2: your dream and also your escape? You know, if day-to-day
- 27:51Speaker 2: life was a little bit rough, this was your happy place.
- 27:54Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely. My childhood, as much as I had a great,
- 27:58Speaker 4: I had a good childhood. I had good memories. I
- 28:00Speaker 4: had a great mom. My mom was a fantastic mom.
- 28:03Speaker 4: But it was very violent in my home. as growing
- 28:06Speaker 4: up as a child. And so, yeah. And so I
- 28:09Speaker 4: was muted a lot. You know, I was taught to
- 28:11Speaker 4: be silent, be quiet, be a good girl. And so
- 28:14Speaker 4: I didn't know how to express myself. So when I
- 28:17Speaker 4: started to sing in, you know, singing in the bathroom,
- 28:20Speaker 4: singing in the bedroom, I was like, Hey, this feels good.
- 28:24Speaker 4: I want to do this. And then once I saw
- 28:26Speaker 4: Judy Garland in Wizard of Oz, I was like, I
- 28:29Speaker 4: want to be a singer. That's what I want to do.
- 28:31Speaker 4: And so, yeah, it relieves everything, even to this day.
- 28:34Speaker 4: I just love it.
- 28:35Speaker 3: I love it.
- 28:35Speaker 1: What do you think about now how freestyle, there's all
- 28:37Speaker 1: these shows with people flashing back, people love nostalgia.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:42Speaker 1: And you went from that dark hole in 1994. to
- 28:44Speaker 1: now freestyle and all the people that you used to
- 28:46Speaker 1: play with back in the 80s are now thriving.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Exactly. And doing shows.
- 28:50Speaker 4: And I have as many shows now that I had
- 28:52Speaker 4: back then.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Right.
- 28:53Speaker 4: So it's a testament to like, you never know how
- 28:57Speaker 4: good your life can turn out. You have to hang
- 28:59Speaker 4: in there. You just got to stick it out and
- 29:00Speaker 4: you don't give up. Because things happen. And look, I
- 29:04Speaker 4: never would have imagined I would have been a radio
- 29:06Speaker 4: personality on the radio ever.
- 29:07Speaker 3: You're still on KTU, right?
- 29:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm still on KTU, 27 years now. I never
- 29:11Speaker 4: would have imagined I would have my own one-woman show.
- 29:13Speaker 4: And I definitely wouldn't have imagined I would have a
- 29:15Speaker 4: book or be in Blue Bloods or be in a
- 29:19Speaker 4: movie or anything like that. So it's just amazing. I'm
- 29:22Speaker 4: so glad that I failed at the attempt because life
- 29:25Speaker 4: turned out really great. And that's why I want my
- 29:27Speaker 4: life to serve as testimony to that everything is going
- 29:31Speaker 4: to be okay. And every day is a new day,
- 29:34Speaker 4: it's a new chance, it's a new opportunity for things
- 29:37Speaker 4: to be better. So just hang in there.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I know this book is especially for Judy Torres fans
- 29:42Speaker 1: but what if like you know you loosely know Judy
- 29:44Speaker 1: Torres who should buy this book why should they buy this.
- 29:47Speaker 4: Book everybody should buy this book I think I think
- 29:52Speaker 4: it's good I think it speaks a lot to many
- 29:53Speaker 4: women A lot of women can identify with what those
- 29:57Speaker 4: things feel like, you know, being told to be quiet,
- 29:59Speaker 4: be a good girl, that kind of thing. I think
- 30:02Speaker 4: also it speaks to a lot of Latinos. I'm originally
- 30:05Speaker 4: from the Bronx. So a lot of people who are
- 30:06Speaker 4: from the Bronx really love the book because I talk
- 30:09Speaker 4: about the Bronx in detail. And yeah, I think anyone
- 30:12Speaker 4: who needs inspiration, encouragement and empowerment should read this book.
- 30:16Speaker 2: And are you doing that for people now?
- 30:17Speaker 4: Do you?
- 30:18Speaker 2: Are you actually finding time to help coach people one-on-one?
- 30:21Speaker 2: Because I'm reading that you're a life coach as well.
- 30:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I've been a certified life coach for just about
- 30:26Speaker 4: eight years now. And I love doing it. And ironically,
- 30:29Speaker 4: the majority of my clients are fans. So that's an
- 30:32Speaker 4: interesting situation.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Are you signing autographs at the end of the sessions
- 30:35Speaker 3: and all that?
- 30:36Speaker 4: I have to let them know from the very get-go, like,
- 30:38Speaker 4: this is not Judy Torres, the singer. This is Judy Torres,
- 30:40Speaker 4: your life coach. It's going to be a very different experience.
- 30:43Speaker 4: But I don't do, I don't have as many clients
- 30:47Speaker 4: now because everything's been so busy promoting the book and
- 30:49Speaker 4: I do a lot of shows. But I do love
- 30:51Speaker 4: it and I find it's a wonderful way to give back.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Also, I just want to mention like you started, you
- 30:58Speaker 2: signed with a modeling agency. At 54.
- 31:00Speaker 4: I love it.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Crazy, right?
- 31:02Speaker 2: Absolutely love it because I think some of us are
- 31:04Speaker 2: afraid to like even dream. And there's never a point
- 31:08Speaker 2: where we should stop dreaming.
- 31:09Speaker 4: You should not. It's, you know, my mom told me,
- 31:13Speaker 4: ever since you were a kid, you've been this way.
- 31:14Speaker 4: She's like, it's like you see a star and you go, mom,
- 31:16Speaker 4: look at this star.
- 31:17Speaker 3: It's so pretty.
- 31:18Speaker 4: And she goes, and then you grab the star and
- 31:19Speaker 4: you're like, wait a minute, there's another star here. So
- 31:22Speaker 4: I just feel like I keep asking myself, what else
- 31:25Speaker 4: can I do? What else is there? Like modeling was
- 31:28Speaker 4: an accident. I was sitting next to a woman at
- 31:30Speaker 4: a fashion show. Jokingly, I said to her, wow, I
- 31:33Speaker 4: wonder if anybody's looking for plus size models. And she goes, well,
- 31:37Speaker 4: I actually own an agency. Do you have a book?
- 31:39Speaker 4: I said, no, I don't. And she says, well, I
- 31:41Speaker 4: can get you a book, but you'll have to come
- 31:42Speaker 4: to Minnesota. And two weeks later, I was in Minnesota
- 31:45Speaker 4: doing pictures, and then I got signed. And then maybe
- 31:48Speaker 4: about a month later, I got signed with another agency,
- 31:51Speaker 4: Seasoned Models. They only represent women over 40, which I love.
- 31:55Speaker 4: And so, yeah, you never know. You just have to
- 31:57Speaker 4: keep your mind and your heart open that anything is possible.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Every single day, I light a candle, and I say,
- 32:04Speaker 4: let me be the light. Today is another opportunity to
- 32:08Speaker 4: be the light. And I'm always expecting something wonderful to happen.
- 32:12Speaker 4: And ever since I've been doing that, crazy, amazing things
- 32:15Speaker 4: have been happening.
- 32:15Speaker 3: No wonder you're a life coach.
- 32:18Speaker 2: And let's do that every day.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely.
- 32:20Speaker 4: Every day.
- 32:21Speaker 1: So the book is No Reason to Cry, a memoir.
- 32:24Speaker 3: And you're actually signing copies of the book. I know
- 32:26Speaker 3: you had a signing last night, right?
- 32:27Speaker 4: I did in the Bronx.
- 32:28Speaker 3: In the Bronx.
- 32:29Speaker 1: And you have an October 15th. at Cafe Paris in Batucha,
- 32:33Speaker 1: New Jersey, October 16th, Barnes & Noble, Staten Island, and
- 32:37Speaker 1: October 20th, Barnes & Noble, Staten Island.
- 32:39Speaker 4: I'm doing Barnes & Noble.
- 32:40Speaker 3: What's that?
- 32:41Speaker 4: I'm doing Barnes & Noble.
- 32:42Speaker 3: I know.
- 32:43Speaker 2: How cool is that?
- 32:44Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 32:45Speaker 4: When we did the one in Paramus, I was crying.
- 32:47Speaker 4: I've been so emotional. I've been so happy. So thank
- 32:50Speaker 4: you to everybody who, you know, who bought it. Thank
- 32:53Speaker 4: you for having me. It's just been an amazing experience.
- 32:56Speaker 3: And I want to thank you for the shout out.
- 32:57Speaker 3: You're welcome. I saw my name in your book.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Of course.
- 32:58Speaker 3: I got a little cover mention. Yeah, it was pretty cool.
- 33:01Speaker 1: A lot of people forgot you used to fill in
- 33:02Speaker 1: for Carolina. When I was at KTU, Judy would fill
- 33:05Speaker 1: in for Carolina. And it's so funny because you're such
- 33:08Speaker 1: a superstar, Judy Torres, but she would come in nervous.
- 33:12Speaker 4: Every time.
- 33:12Speaker 3: I'm like, you've been on the radio for 27 years.
- 33:14Speaker 3: She'd be like, I don't know. I got to do
- 33:16Speaker 3: the entertainment news. I got to do the regular news.
- 33:19Speaker 4: And those shoes were, they were big shoes to fill.
- 33:21Speaker 3: But you always crushed it, you know?
- 33:23Speaker 4: Well, that's because I had a wonderful, you know, Christine,
- 33:26Speaker 4: I know we have a wonderful co-host.
- 33:28Speaker 2: We are the luckiest girls working with him.
- 33:29Speaker 4: Exactly. When I filled in for Carolina, it was like
- 33:32Speaker 4: almost three months, I think.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:34Speaker 4: And I remember the last day. I was like crying. Like,
- 33:37Speaker 4: I don't want to stop working with coffee. It was
- 33:41Speaker 4: a great experience. Yeah. No, you're a fantastic human being.
- 33:43Speaker 3: And so are you.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Absolutely. You too.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 33:47Speaker 3: You've got Judy Torres. I had to play that.
- 33:50Speaker 2: That's so old.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Oh my gosh. Do you still play that on KTU?
- 33:52Speaker 4: I don't, but I should.
- 33:54Speaker 1: When AOL was really popular and you were on the
- 33:56Speaker 1: air at KTU, she used to kick off her show
- 33:58Speaker 1: with this.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Welcome. You've got Judy Torres. Oh my God. That's so old. Yeah.
- 34:05Speaker 3: All right, Judy, we love you. Get the book, No
- 34:06Speaker 3: Reason to Cry. It'll make you cry. It'll make you smile.
- 34:09Speaker 3: It's a great book. Thank you, Judy.
- 34:10Speaker 4: Thank you so much, Cubby and Christine. Appreciate it.
