- 0:34Speaker 3: A little boy is sitting at the Thanksgiving table with
- 0:38Speaker 3: his extended family. The food is steaming, the pie is cooling,
- 0:44Speaker 3: and the grown ups are all going around the table
- 0:46Speaker 3: saying what they are thankful for. Grandma says she's thankful
- 0:52Speaker 3: for good health. Uncle Joe says he's thankful for a
- 0:56Speaker 3: new job. Mom says she's thankful for family. And then
- 1:01Speaker 3: it's the little boy's turn. He clears his throat and says,
- 1:07Speaker 3: I'm thankful for Wi Fi stuffing and that Aunt Carol
- 1:12Speaker 3: didn't try to make the gluten free green bean thing again.
- 1:16Speaker 3: The whole table bursts out laughing, even Aunt Carol. Then
- 1:21Speaker 3: the boy adds, and I'm also thankful that I didn't
- 1:25Speaker 3: have to sit at the kid's table this year, although
- 1:28Speaker 3: I think this might have been a trap. If you

- 1:57Speaker 3: to be here with me. Today isn't just about food, though,
- 2:02Speaker 3: let's be honest, that part is great. It's about gratitude,
- 2:07Speaker 3: about presence, about reflecting on what's good even if life
- 2:12Speaker 3: feels complicated, messy, or in progress. It's also about giving
- 2:20Speaker 3: not just thanks but kindness, time and love. But before
- 2:26Speaker 3: we dive into all that, here is today's Thanksgiving themed
- 2:30Speaker 3: trivia question. Are you ready for it? Here it is
- 2:35Speaker 3: which US president made Thanksgiving a permanent national holiday during
- 2:42Speaker 3: his presidency and what year did he declare it in.
- 2:47Speaker 3: We will have the answer when we come back. Hey,

- 4:24Speaker 3: Thanks for listening, and happy reading. Welcome back. Do you
- 4:34Speaker 3: know the answer to this week's trivia question? The question
- 4:38Speaker 3: was which US president made Thanksgiving a permanent national holiday
- 4:44Speaker 3: and in what year? The answer Abraham Lincoln. In eighteen
- 4:50Speaker 3: sixty three, during the height of the Civil War, President
- 4:54Speaker 3: Lincoln declared a national Day of Thanksgiving to be observed
- 4:59Speaker 3: each year in November. In a time of incredible division
- 5:03Speaker 3: and suffering, he called on Americans to pause and give thanks,
- 5:09Speaker 3: not just for abundance, but for a resilience and for
- 5:14Speaker 3: the hope of unity. It's powerful to think that this
- 5:18Speaker 3: holiday was born not during times of ease, but during
- 5:23Speaker 3: a struggle. A reminder that gratitude isn't about ignoring what's hard.
- 5:30Speaker 3: It's about finding light even in the midst of the hardness.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Now you know, on this Thanksgiving Day, let's talk about
- 5:47Speaker 3: the two words at the heart of the holiday, thanks
- 5:52Speaker 3: and giving. Gratitude is powerful. It shifts your perspective, It
- 5:58Speaker 3: slows you down. It reminds you that even if everything
- 6:03Speaker 3: is imperfect, some things are still beautiful. But there's also
- 6:10Speaker 3: an important giving part, giving your time, giving your attention,
- 6:17Speaker 3: giving someone grace or the benefit of the doubt, giving
- 6:21Speaker 3: yourself a little compassion. We often think of giving as
- 6:27Speaker 3: something material, a gift, a donation, a dish to pass
- 6:31Speaker 3: a dinner, but some of the most meaningful giving costs
- 6:36Speaker 3: little or nothing at all. A phone call, a warm hug,
- 6:42Speaker 3: a genuine thank you, a seat at your table, real
- 6:47Speaker 3: or metaphorical that says you belong. Thanksgiving invites us not
- 6:54Speaker 3: only to be thankful, but to be generous with our thanks.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Let me end this week's episode with a beautiful quote
- 7:15Speaker 3: by Maya Angelou, She said, let gratitude be the pillow
- 7:22Speaker 3: upon which you kneel to say your knightly prayer, and
- 7:26Speaker 3: let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil
- 7:31Speaker 3: and welcome good. So today, between the mashed potatoes and
- 7:36Speaker 3: the second helping of pie, pause, pause to notice who's
- 7:42Speaker 3: sitting beside you. Pause to honor those who are missing.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Pause to give thanks, not just with your words, but
- 7:53Speaker 3: with your actions. Say thank you forgive someone, comp someone,
- 8:01Speaker 3: Look in the mirror and say something kind to yourself.
- 8:07Speaker 3: This day isn't about perfection, It's about presence and that
- 8:13Speaker 3: is more than enough. Happy thanksgiving from Positively three sixty five.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Be grateful, be giving, and as always, stay positive.
