  Speaker 1: twenty seven to night, covering the first one through fifteen verses.

  Speaker 1: like the balance. Finding that balance, not overdoing anything. As

  Speaker 1: a recovering alcoholic and a recovering drug addict.

  Speaker 2: Recovering self will driven person.

  Speaker 1: Being on the other side of the fence and really

  Speaker 1: doing God's will has been a thrill more than the

  Speaker 1: twenty years that I put in in my drinking career.

  Speaker 1: I was a party animal. So I want you to

  Speaker 1: realize that because God can use any one.

  Speaker 1: right now. So Matthew Chapter twenty seven, and it is

  Speaker 1: titled that Jewish leaders take Jesus to Pilot the Roman.

  Speaker 2: Ruler verse one.

  Speaker 1: Early the next morning, all the leaders of the priest
• 2:07
  Speaker 1: and the important Jews met together. They decided how to
• 2:12
  Speaker 1: make the Roman rulers punish Jesus with death.

  Speaker 2: Verse two.

  Speaker 1: They tried Jesus' hands, They tied Jesus' hands and feet,

  Speaker 1: and then they took him to Pilot's house, Polate's house.

  Speaker 1: They put him under the authority of Palate, who was

  Speaker 1: the Roman ruler.

  Speaker 2: Judases dies. I've talked about this in.

  Speaker 1: Judas heard that the Jewish leaders wanted the Roman rulers

  Speaker 1: to kill Jesus. Judas was the man who had helped

  Speaker 1: Jesus' enemies to take hold of him. Now he was

  Speaker 1: very sorry about what he had done, so he took
• 3:32
  Speaker 1: back the thirty silver coins.

  Speaker 2: I said silver, gold coins and the thing.

  Speaker 1: But either way it's being like silver or gold, it's

  Speaker 1: he betrayed him for some money. I'm kind of like
• 3:50
  Speaker 1: thinking about how I was making a freestyle and.

  Speaker 2: I said thirty silvers of gold or I said it
• 3:56
  Speaker 2: in the podcast.

  Speaker 3: So to.

  Speaker 2: The thirty silver coins, he was taking them back right.

  Speaker 1: To the leaders of the priests and the important Jews.

  Speaker 1: Verse four he said to them, I have done a

  Speaker 1: bad thing. I helped you take hold of a man

  Speaker 1: who was who has done nothing wrong.

  Speaker 2: Then they said to Judas.

  Speaker 1: That is not important to us, that is your problem.

  Speaker 2: Verse five.

  Speaker 1: So Judas took the money and he threw it down
• 4:30
  Speaker 1: on the floor in the temple. Then he went away.

  Speaker 1: He used a rope to hang himself so that he died.

  Speaker 1: And these are the first five verses in Matthew chapter
• 4:46
  Speaker 1: twenty seven. And when we're breaking this down because we
• 4:51
  Speaker 1: are here to learn, right, we're here to learn about
• 4:56
  Speaker 1: the Bible and breaking them down when we're talking about
• 5:01
  Speaker 1: how we can apply.
• 5:02
  Speaker 2: These verses to our lives.

  Speaker 1: Right, it's sometimes it's the closest people to us that
• 5:08
  Speaker 1: will betray us.
• 5:10
  Speaker 2: But the way that.
• 5:11
  Speaker 1: Jesus handled this, he knew it was coming, but he
• 5:17
  Speaker 1: didn't just.
• 5:20
  Speaker 2: Yell at Judas.
• 5:21
  Speaker 1: He didn't before he was crucified, right, he did not.

  Speaker 1: He understood Judas's.
• 5:30
  Speaker 2: Assignment.

  Speaker 1: It's interesting though, that Jesus chose Judas to be one
• 5:39
  Speaker 1: of his disciples. So when we talk about the twelve disciples, right,

  Speaker 1: there really was only eleven. One betrayed them. So we
• 5:49
  Speaker 1: talk about, oh, the twelve disciples. It's really the eleven,
• 5:52
  Speaker 1: because the eleven ended up going on, and all the
• 5:57
  Speaker 1: written testimonies of what Jesus did in his ministry carried on.

  Speaker 1: So what I want you to understand from this is

  Speaker 1: just because one person that you've loved betrayed you, don't
• 6:12
  Speaker 1: forget about the others that are still on your side.

  Speaker 1: Don't forget that what God allows to be taken away
• 6:21
  Speaker 1: can be replaced.

  Speaker 2: Amen.

  Speaker 1: So I want to get even deeper as we continue
• 6:27
  Speaker 1: to go to verse six.
• 6:28
  Speaker 2: So I want you to.

  Speaker 1: Keep an open mind. I want you to not lean
• 6:32
  Speaker 1: on your own understanding. And it's hard to put yourself
• 6:36
  Speaker 1: back in this perspective in time, but just bear with me.

  Speaker 1: If nothing has really captivated you and you are able
• 6:48
  Speaker 1: to apply to your lives.

  Speaker 2: We still got a few more verses to go.

  Speaker 1: Verse six. Matthew, Chapter twenty seven. The leaders of the
• 6:55
  Speaker 1: priests picked up the coins. They said, we use this
• 6:59
  Speaker 1: money to catch and kill a man, so we cannot
• 7:02
  Speaker 1: use this same money for the temple work.
• 7:05
  Speaker 2: Verse seven.
• 7:06
  Speaker 1: They decided to use the money to buy a field.
• 7:09
  Speaker 1: They wanted to use the field to bury foreign people
• 7:13
  Speaker 1: who died in the city. The field had been called
• 7:18
  Speaker 1: the pot maker's field verse eight. After this it was
• 7:24
  Speaker 1: called the field of blood. It is still called that
• 7:28
  Speaker 1: even today. Verse nine.
• 7:30
  Speaker 2: So the words that the prophet.
• 7:33
  Speaker 1: Jeremiah wrote long ago now became true. He had said,

  Speaker 1: then they took the thirty silver coins. It was the
• 7:44
  Speaker 1: amount of money the people of Israel had agreed to pay.

  Speaker 2: For the man. First ten.

  Speaker 1: They used this money to buy the pot Maker's field.

  Speaker 1: The Lord God had told.
• 7:56
  Speaker 2: Me to do this.

  Speaker 1: When we're talking about these last few verses, God will

  Speaker 1: not just allow wreckage on your life and not be
• 8:10
  Speaker 1: able to restore it. God and the devil are always
• 8:14
  Speaker 1: up to something. And that's why we need Jesus Christ.

  Speaker 1: That's why he came down. Because the war, the spiritual war,

  Speaker 1: is it's not us against each other, which sometimes it
• 8:26
  Speaker 1: kind of goes that way, right.

  Speaker 2: It's God versus the devil.

  Speaker 1: And we needed a savior. Praise God for Jesus. And

  Speaker 1: I was talking about this in another episode, is why

  Speaker 1: can't God just forgive Lucifer? Right, I'm not just gonna
• 8:46
  Speaker 1: call him say, and I'm gonna call him by his
• 8:48
  Speaker 1: angel name. Why does Lucifer not have the ability to

  Speaker 1: be forgiven? But we do we are like adolescence. We

  Speaker 1: are infants no matter how old you are right now.

  Speaker 1: Spirituality is where we're tackling right now. I'm not talking

  Speaker 1: about your wisdom, your age, and what you've accomplished in

  Speaker 1: none of that.

  Speaker 2: We have.

  Speaker 1: The free will as well, but we also have God's

  Speaker 1: favor because even though we sin, by the blood of
• 9:31
  Speaker 1: Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. I hope that makes sense

  Speaker 1: to you, and it took me a long time for
• 9:39
  Speaker 1: that to make sense to me. So that's why I

  Speaker 1: state that I didn't understand what God was doing, and

  Speaker 1: that's verse ten right like the Lord God had told

  Speaker 1: me to do this. There's a lot of things when

  Speaker 1: it comes to religion, and we're talking about church, we're

  Speaker 1: talking about the Bible can be very complicated because as

  Speaker 1: man has complicated. I want to make that clear, it's

  Speaker 1: not that God has made this very complicated.

  Speaker 2: It's very simple. It's very simple to have godly thoughts.

  Speaker 2: You have to follow the one that not only talk

  Speaker 2: to talk, but walk to walk.

  Speaker 1: There's so many preachers out here that are talking to
• 10:26
  Speaker 1: talk but not necessarily walking the walk. And that's not
• 10:31
  Speaker 1: for me to judge. That's on God. That's for God
• 10:34
  Speaker 1: to judge, and that's on the people that are religious leaders.
• 10:39
  Speaker 1: I just don't want to be considered a pharisee. I
• 10:41
  Speaker 1: know that in my drinking career, I've been a hypocrite.
• 10:45
  Speaker 1: I've been one of those people that I can't say
• 10:49
  Speaker 1: like I was a hypocrite full blooded, but I was
• 10:53
  Speaker 1: hypocritical a lot of times. And I'm being honest and
• 10:59
  Speaker 1: now following Christ putting on that consciousness is a choice
• 11:03
  Speaker 1: every day. That's why it's a gift. You can accept
• 11:08
  Speaker 1: a gift or you can return the gift.
• 11:11
  Speaker 2: Either way. I kind of went a little deep off
• 11:13
  Speaker 2: of that, but.

  Speaker 1: Pilot decides, I'm sorry, Pilate decides if Jesus deserves to die.

  Speaker 1: We're in verse eleven now, Matthew, chapter twenty seven. Now
• 11:25
  Speaker 1: Jesus stood in front of the Roman ruler Pilate. The
• 11:30
  Speaker 1: ruler asked, Jesus, are you the king of the Jews.
• 11:33
  Speaker 1: Jesus replied, you have said it the leaders of the Pharisees.
• 11:39
  Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
• 11:41
  Speaker 1: Basically, at that time, the leaders of the priests and
• 11:45
  Speaker 1: the important Jews spoke against Jesus. They said that he
• 11:49
  Speaker 1: had done many bad things. Jesus did not answer them.
• 11:52
  Speaker 2: He just stayed quiet.
• 11:53
  Speaker 1: That's an example of what to do when you are
• 11:55
  Speaker 1: accused and falsely accused.

  Speaker 2: Stay quiet.

  Speaker 1: So Pilot said to Jesus, you hear what these men
• 12:06
  Speaker 1: are saying against you, you should reply.
• 12:09
  Speaker 2: Verse fourteen. Matthew, Chapter twenty seven states.

  Speaker 1: But Jesus did not reply to what the men were
• 12:15
  Speaker 1: saying against him. He did not reply even to one thing.
• 12:20
  Speaker 2: Pilot was very surprised about this.
• 12:23
  Speaker 1: Now, how many times have we been accused or we've
• 12:28
  Speaker 1: gotten into argument of situations and we want to plead
• 12:33
  Speaker 1: our case right. We want to be like, no, I
• 12:36
  Speaker 1: didn't do it. But Jesus knew who he was. The
• 12:41
  Speaker 1: insecurities that we all faced today. We don't need to
• 12:46
  Speaker 1: necessarily believe and take in everything that people say about
• 12:53
  Speaker 1: us or even think about us, and Jesus is a
• 12:58
  Speaker 1: prime example in this situation.

  Speaker 2: Jesus also knew what was coming. And when you know
• 13:05
  Speaker 2: what's coming and you prepare for it.
• 13:08
  Speaker 1: As before the rulers took him away, he was in
• 13:14
  Speaker 1: the woods praying and he started to he started to
• 13:17
  Speaker 1: sweat blood because he knew he was feeling the pressure
• 13:23
  Speaker 1: and stress that was coming upon him. Thank you, Lord,
• 13:27
  Speaker 1: for what you've done though, and what you're doing and
• 13:29
  Speaker 1: what you will do. Now, let's see where we're at
• 13:33
  Speaker 1: in time, we'll get to verse fifteen. Yeah, we're going
• 13:35
  Speaker 1: to close out only half a minute, So I want
• 13:38
  Speaker 1: to take this time to just be thankful.
• 13:40
  Speaker 2: For the people that you have in your life today.
• 13:42
  Speaker 2: And I know that I am.
• 13:44
  Speaker 3: I know for a fact that God's will on my
• 13:51
  Speaker 3: life has put someone particularly particularly in my life that
• 13:57
  Speaker 3: almost is a mirror of me, and I'm so grateful
• 14:01
  Speaker 3: for her.
• 14:01
  Speaker 1: I'm so grateful for my mom and my brother. I'm
• 14:04
  Speaker 1: so grateful for my home church. I'm so grateful for
• 14:06
  Speaker 1: my home recovery group. And the more and more that
• 14:11
  Speaker 1: the Holy Spirit continues to work on me, the more
• 14:15
  Speaker 1: and more that I continue to see.
• 14:19
  Speaker 2: God installing things in me.
• 14:22
  Speaker 1: I thought that I might have had it all, but
• 14:24
  Speaker 1: I do not, and I had to humbly go through
• 14:29
  Speaker 1: rock bottom. I just don't want that to be for you,
• 14:32
  Speaker 1: the listener. I highly encourage you to get into relationship
• 14:36
  Speaker 1: with Jesus. It's the best decision you would ever make,
• 14:40
  Speaker 1: and it just give him a try consistently for six months.

  Speaker 1: If it doesn't work out, go back to the same
• 14:49
