- 0:27little bit about my new video and tell you what's coming up next week and I
- 0:31thought we tonight tonight's goal will do 500 comments and 30 thumbs up so if
- 0:37you haven't already. Click thumbs up in the chat be sure you do that I think we
- 0:40can get to 30 we did 25 last time and we were over 500 comments last week so I
- 0:46know we can get over 500 comments in the chat so what I'd like to do first
- 0:52is get to know my friend Fred here so Fred why don't you just introduce yourself
- 0:59and talk a little bit about your YouTube channel how we met and all that kind of
- 1:02cool stuff hey everybody my name is Fred and I used to know me as Santa Fred of
- 1:09New York and I changed recently changed my name to Fred finds out in an attempt
- 1:15to kind of separate my Santa Claus persona from my other stuff that I've been
- 1:21doing hiking biking ancestry work
- 1:26trying trying out some stuff lately some food and just all
- 1:32sorts of anything that kind of floats my boat at the time is what I'm going to
- 1:36be doing from now on so Santa Claus is still definitely part of a big part of my
- 1:42life and that season's coming up so you'll see the everything get all whited out
- 1:48and I'll start you know getting ready for the season and and you'll
- 1:54definitely see a shift so you may not even recognize me but a time I'm fully
- 1:59done so I really like this name Fred finds out it's it's really catchy
- 2:05and easy to remember and it kind of it opens you up to really explore anything
- 2:11in the entire world anything you want to right you can go explore you can
- 2:16discover new stuff you can go on your cemetery haunts or your
- 2:21your tier ranking listings like the screenshots say right when you're doing the
- 2:27all these sticks and the whatever the heck those Brunswick things are I don't
- 2:31even know what that is that's not my it's like tuna and and tuna and and and and
- 2:37and and and and and and some kind.
- 2:38I got those that spread Dollar Tree looks disgusting it looks like cat food
- 2:42dollar twenty five a box it looks like right is it like coming a powder and you
- 2:47mix it up or is it like now is it wet in you get like a little premixed tin of
- 2:53like tuna salad or chicken salad and then they give you crackers to go with it
- 2:59with it too so it's a little cracker spread that looks disgusting
- 3:04it's actually it's actually not too bad it's not that bad
- 3:10it's not well the buffalo what the one that one is that why it's up front yes
- 3:16that's really good like I was thinking about going to get some today so see
- 3:20dollar twenty five I don't like
- 3:27it on a
- 3:33adventure sparks is a big tuna fish guy but I don't like it
- 3:38let's just take a peek here we got a couple people joining us in the chat who
- 3:42weren't here earlier I see the pops is here very.
- 3:45cool how's it going buddy glad to see you I'm gonna rearrange my chat window
- 3:51slightly because I had it set up for when we didn't have two faces and who else
- 3:56did I see you in here yeah Amy's here very cool and the chairman is here the
- 4:01chairman has dropped in on a few of our livestreams lately and unfortunately
- 4:05chairman I apologize but I don't think I saw you last week until I was reading
- 4:09the comments after I go back and reread the entire livestream comments to see if
- 4:13there's anything I missed and there's always lots of really funny stuff that I
- 4:17missed and I didn't I don't think I even acknowledged you chairman so I
- 4:20apologize for that Yvonne is here how's it going man how you doing I was
- 4:26thinking about you earlier Yvonne I'll tell you why in a minute I'm sending out
- 4:31new stickers to everybody so oh look at this guy's in the chat Fred finds out I
- 4:36heard he's pretty cool glad to see him in the chat that's good
- 4:43hey Sally how's going everything cool look who I got with me it's Mr.
- 4:46Fred yeah it's me finds out it's me we're making everybody wait for the
- 4:52simultaneous sip should we do the simultaneous sip or you got something to drink
- 4:58I sure do everybody got their beverage get some handy we got a looks like an
- 5:03alcohol-free Heineken there you go I gotta gotta keep it clean that looks yummy
- 5:09very good
- 5:11all right well it's time for the simultaneous sip all you
- 5:17need is a cup or a mug or a glass did I said wrong a cup or a mug or
- 5:24a glass a tanker chalice of stein a canteen jug or flask a vessel of any kind
- 5:29fill it with your favorite liquid I happen like Publix diet sweet tea and join
- 5:35me now for the unparalleled pleasure the dopamine hit of the day the thing that
- 5:38makes everything better in memory of Scott Adams the simultaneous sip and it
- 5:43happens now
- 5:48our friend Devon has been posting videos of himself in discord taking
- 5:55the sip along with me and with us and that's uh been really fun thought that was
- 6:00pretty cool
- 6:02have you been drinking alcohol-free Heineken is that your favorite been drinking
- 6:07that for a long time I haven't had a real alcoholic drink
- 6:13in
- 6:1630 about 36 years good for you that's awesome yeah talk speaking of Scott
- 6:22Adams that was one of his reframes for people who wanted to stop drinking
- 6:27alcohol he reframed it as alcohol is poison and if you just tell yourself
- 6:32alcohol is poison it's a lot easier to stop drinking it yeah kind of good good
- 6:37mindset trick he was famous for those reframes you know well so what I was
- 6:43saying earlier with the stickers is I have right here in my fat little hand look
- 6:49at this 24 stamped let me hide addresses from the livestream
- 6:55so they don't show stamped envelopes going out with new stickers and I
- 7:02got a new design sticker that came in and we got some new magnets so if you
- 7:07haven't got magnets yet and if nobody's got these glittery stickers yet so
- 7:12glittery stickers are going on to everybody who's ever requested stickers from
- 7:16me that will be headed to you, in the post office very soon even my Canadian
- 7:22friends I had to use three you know forever stamps right you know if forever
- 7:27stamps are I think everybody knows about those right yeah so I found out there's
- 7:31something called global forever stamps which I never heard of till today but wow
- 7:36to send a letter sized piece of mail internationally you can buy a global stamp
- 7:41which is a dollar seventy and the forever stamps the US stamps are eighty cents
- 7:47so so what that tells me is that they basically said okay if you put two stamps
- 7:52on that's a dollar sixty so we're gonna get them for three forever stamps and
- 7:57make them waste seventy cents so I can't put ten cents worth of a stamp on
- 8:03you know I have to use three stamps to get up to a dollar seventy which puts you
- 8:09know way more money on it than I need so I don't have any global forever stamps
- 8:12so I have to put three regular ones on but anyway my Canadian friends my UK
- 8:17friends are Americano friends you're all gonna get some new stickers sometime
- 8:21this week so that'll be cool I see that
- 8:26CL made it how is it going how is everybody that's awesome welcome everybody
- 8:33and Brandon says he's already got his magnets from before so that's cool you'll
- 8:37get another one because I put a magnet and everybody's envelope even if you
- 8:40already had one before so you know I had asked I had asked Brandon a question
- 8:46earlier and I forgot to watch to see if he answered it and I don't want to bug
- 8:51them about it now okay
- 8:55they did get it yeah I had sent them something and they got it I was afraid and
- 8:59I threw away the receipt that had the tracking number on it so I was like oh man
- 9:03I hope it shows up you know dang that's cool oh look who's here is the Texas
- 9:08gypsy Geraldine you were asking how he was doing so Fred this is my dad the
- 9:14Texas is my pop up in North Texas his name is Sonny for those of you who have
- 9:20not met Sonny that is my dad the Texas gypsy obviously CL remembers him before
- 9:26I even said it she said hey Sonny so glad you can make it that he's usually got
- 9:31lots of cool stuff going on goes to church and stuff like that on Wednesday
- 9:34night so he doesn't usually get to join us all the time but I'm glad he made it
- 9:39very cool Sonny seems like a very Texas name that's right that's right
- 9:45absolutely it is yep but his family what I don't think they were
- 9:51didn't
- 9:55you guys remind me dad didn't you grow up in Louisiana and then they came to
- 9:59Texas after that I forget I don't think I forget I don't know he'll tell us the
- 10:05time you want to help with the ancestry research let me know yeah I have a full
- 10:10on paid ancestry comm pro whatever I can
- 10:16see everything back to the age of time you know I should introduce you to my
- 10:21brother because he's the same way he's all deep into it and he's done a lot of
- 10:24work on our side and traced it in a lot of directions you guys get along so when
- 10:29you do your videos and you're hanging out in the cemeteries and looking at stuff
- 10:32is that related to the ancestry work or is that just unrelated sometimes
- 10:39it is sometimes I'm there to to
- 10:42to find my ancestors or to I had
- 10:47I had some trouble finding my my
- 10:53third time great great great grandfather so I have like a couple videos of me
- 10:58going out trying to search my grandfather died when he was 26
- 11:03and it really kind of in one of my videos I talked
- 11:10about how it that it kind of severed the line of understanding of where
- 11:16we came from you know I mean yeah and so my journey has
- 11:45been trying to reconnect that line and so far I have not been able to figure out
- 11:51I've been married and went back and picked them back up and so they were raised
- 11:56in a household with a by a man who was not their father and
- 12:02kind of let that be known yeah
- 12:07and so you know you wonder like how things would
- 12:13have been different if my grandfather had not died at 26 and so
- 12:19I don't know we're me and my sisters are trying to kind of reconnect those lines
- 12:24and figure out
- 12:27you know what happened you know so it's tough because you know you're hoping
- 12:33that the evidence that you're looking for is out there and that you're gonna
- 12:36stumble upon it sometime but there's no guarantee that he'd even exists right
- 12:40this is right you know you're working on hope that the that the missing link of
- 12:46information that you need is there for you to stumble upon in some record
- 12:50somewhere in some courthouse or something yeah yeah I think we're I'm gonna end
- 12:55up having to go through vital statistics to try and get some kind of death
- 12:59record and and even then that's not gonna it'll it'll tell us why he
- 13:06died but you know there's still a lot of unanswered questions it's like what
- 13:10kind of a person was he what kind of a you know there's so many like if he had
- 13:15lived and all things being equal me and my sisters were still
- 13:21born like what kind of stories would he had to have said about
- 13:27his family what what kind of stories would have been passed down and so that it
- 13:32seems like those the stories from rmy father's paternal side kind of got severed
- 13:38a little bit you know and so we don't I've been able to kind of piece things
- 13:45together and I know my third time great- grandfather was the first to come over
- 13:49from England and he worked as a carpenter and then his son worked with him
- 13:55my second time great-grandfather and that's a whole nother other thing because
- 13:59he's made buried up into a cemetery with with some people that we don't even
- 14:03know who these people are and so that's a whole nother ball of wax that I gotta
- 14:09kind of get into but yeah it's been a slow process but
- 14:15and then of course on my mother's side we my mother
- 14:22was adopted and and but she was adopted by the woman
- 14:28who was her real aunt so the lady she thought was her aunt was her mother
- 14:34and so that whole thing happened there and we didn't know
- 14:41for a longest time like who her father was but recently we've been at we were
- 14:47able to piece that together and so we do have family that are in like
- 14:52Pennsylvania area and Buffalo New York area and stuff so yeah
- 14:58Fred look at this comment from my dad this is a maybe some information that you
- 15:03might find at least amusing or interesting he says my brother and my dad use
- 15:09wiki tree for genealogy they've traced their paternal surname back seven
- 15:13generations to the first young 20-year-old who immigrated here in 1685
- 15:20hmm and I've seen that list a really cool thing about it is they all are males
- 15:25named auld so it's unbroken line of males having males having males it's not
- 15:31like one of those ones where jumps over and then but somebody didn't have any
- 15:34kids any boys so you know a daughter changes the name when they get married or
- 15:39something and then so are they somewhere here in New England or Pennsylvania or
- 15:43so they they arrived here from Scotland and as he says 16 what was he say 1685
- 15:49they got in Talbot Maryland nice and then work their
- 15:56way down through the Carolinas across the Annas and over into the into Texas
- 16:01over the city really you know a hundred or years or so yeah yeah a couple
- 16:07hundred years yeah it seemed like as soon as land was available they went you
- 16:11know I I personally kind of theorized they might have been following the cotton
- 16:15trade because that's exactly where the cotton plantations grew up
- 16:21and they learned that cotton and wasn't growing real good and they started
- 16:27growing it in the Carolinas but then discovered it grew better in Louisiana and
- 16:31then discovered it grows real darn good in Texas Texas you know so it's possible
- 16:36that they were following cotton farming I know they got they got connected with
- 16:42some wealthy
- 17:10families at some topic from Glenn here but he's talking to pops who rolls his
- 17:16own cigars got a great channel about role pop says two channels if you don't
- 17:20know
- 17:20he's
- 17:42you puff them let it be in your mouth swish it around just like a small pipe in
- 17:46a smoke in a pipe it's not like cigarettes you don't want that in your lungs man
- 17:50it gets sick well it'll do you in
- 17:56that's um Amy's talking to Sally she says it was she was an army wife down there
- 18:02the heat was brutal in Texas in the 80s now but I was I
- 18:08was in Fort Sam Houston San Antonio test Texas for a little while I went through
- 18:15a medical training for the US Medical Corps in the Army Army Medical Corps
- 18:21that's where you did your training at Fort Sam Houston well yeah I did my my
- 18:26schooling there and then I went to I went to come on DC
- 18:37come on the hospital in DC Fred I'm having a moment
- 18:42somebody helped me out the hospital I say it
- 18:48all the time I say it all the time the hospital the main hospital in DC
- 18:54you're talking about the military yeah Walter Reed Walter Reed's thank you
- 18:59you're welcome yeah I was an eye specialist and
- 19:05yeah that was uh that was an interesting time to be there
- 19:11during the late 80s early 90s so really interesting
- 19:18time yeah we lived in northern Virginia in the late 80s mid to late 80s and
- 19:23maybe my dad will I don't remember maybe did you work up there Walter Reed or
- 19:29something dad or somewhere closer I remember you had to be there a few times I
- 19:34don't know I don't know
- 19:39so my dad said to Sally where you think about moving she says my son
- 19:45lives in Lubbock I know nothing about Texas I just know where my son lives and
- 19:50that's all she cares I just want to be where my son is I can't blame her I don't
- 19:54blame her one bit and you'll get to know about Texas when you get there that's
- 19:59for sure I'll tell you a fun fact you can own a tiger in Texas and
- 20:06people do I think there's more Tigers in Texas than like the rest of the states
- 20:12combined or something crazy I forget people people own Tigers privately it's
- 20:16wild hey Catherine how was your live stream you see just wrapped up your live
- 20:21stream I guess that's cool I saw you were live before us that's cool sorry we
- 20:25missed you me and Fred here we missed I missed Daniel he said he saw Daniel but
- 20:30I miss Daniel because I was.
- 20:31setting up all this stuff for the live stream and getting getting guest mode
- 20:34working and everything and I missed your live stream and everybody else I was
- 20:38busy doing stuff here but you know
- 20:43oh well everybody's saying hi everybody yeah Sally pops is in Texas my dad's in
- 20:49Texas Matthew obviously now pops is in Houston so
- 20:54Texas is huge man like 24-hour drive to get from one side to the other
- 21:00my understanding I heard I don't sure it is I heard it one time that if you took
- 21:06Texas yeah and built it up like
- 21:13like down in Brooklyn right with all the high rises and the apartment complexes
- 21:18and the and the all that stuff right the housing that's in like Brooklyn you I
- 21:23do
- 21:28believe that easily yeah the population
- 21:34of the world is spread out so thinly that you could crown them together I'll
- 21:38tell you some crazy things about Texas okay the east edge of Texas is closer to
- 21:44Tampa Bay than it is to the west edge of Texas
- 21:49and the northern part of Texas is closer to Chicago than it is to the bottom of
- 21:55Texas what yeah it is it just it doesn't look so much because we got these crazy
- 22:02projections that shrink the northern states and a and stuff but yeah the
- 22:06northern tip of Texas is closer to Chicago than it is to the bottom of Texas
- 22:10it's so the maps are like distorted or something yeah it's a little distorted
- 22:14when we look at it looks like it's further but it's just crazy big man Wow
- 22:21oh no Pam Pam says they don't have AC that wait a minute you don't have AC cuz
- 22:27it was an AC or you don't have AC because you don't have AC at all because it's
- 22:32got to be hot up there in Canadadia land she lives in Canada need Canada data
- 22:37land of land of Tim Horton and you mean it's broken I hope you mean it's broken
- 22:43cuz that means it can be fixed not that you don't have AC at all but maybe you
- 22:47don't need it maybe it's only hot for like six weeks or something and you don't
- 22:50need it but I'd be surprised you're not isn't any of them they don't got AC and
- 22:56you can hide a kingdom yeah I was gonna say isn't Jen from the UK originally Jen
- 23:01is from the UK and now she's living in Canadadia yeah and they don't
- 23:07have AC over there yeah I think she's I don't understand it what was it Jen near
- 23:13Toronto I think Toronto pops his Lubbock is a great place to
- 23:20live very neat city I get out there but very low he gets hot there but low
- 23:25humidity so
- 23:27gets cold very cold the reason
- 23:31why I was thinking about like Florida after retirement
- 23:37is because the biking infrastructure there I know over in Clearwater which is on
- 23:43the other side yeah from where you are but over in Clearwater everything is they
- 23:48have that Pinellas Loop there and everything is kind of connected by a bike
- 23:51trail so yeah you were telling me about that the one thing that up like really
- 23:57appeals to me yep and that's a nice part of the state too that's a really good
- 24:03pretty area of the state lots of retirees lots of good services good
- 24:09hospitals everything you could ever want there's Publix on every corner can't go
- 24:14wrong man down here and learn about Publix yeah and we have something up
- 24:20here called price chopper price chopper yeah that doesn't sound very nice
- 24:26chopper it's all right
- 24:30so this is one from my dad El Paso on the west edge of
- 24:37Texas is closer to Los Angeles than it is to the east
- 24:48being its own country yeah exactly yeah the Republic of Texas is it bigger than
- 24:53Alaska no Alaska is the biggest yeah yeah Pam clarifies but
- 25:00nobody's there had AC it's rare to have in Canada in Canada land no really
- 25:05interesting I mean think about how far north they are and how cold it gets all
- 25:09the time and how long their winters are how short their summers are so I don't
- 25:14know I'm kind of even with Toronto though like all I have to do is hop on the on
- 25:19the highway and and travel yeah but she's five six hours west she's in Alberta
- 25:24and she's not even close to the American border she's up there she's way up
- 25:30there yeah she's a ways I think it's like an hour dryer something for her to get
- 25:34to America America land I think I forget I forget Pam can tell me but she's in
- 25:40Alberta that's soon to be the free state of Alberta
- 25:45I'm just giving Pam a hard time they have a pending
- 25:51pending non-binding referendum which nothing's gonna happen you know but it's
- 25:56giving everybody I want to become they want to go to America a no they just want
- 26:00to be independent but oh they just want to be independent yeah that's just an
- 26:03independent state but it's not much just Fox News talk the most that could
- 26:08happen is if this passes then then they could then go for a binding referendum
- 26:14but they don't have to do anything and most people are predicting you know if
- 26:20nothing's gonna happen it's just a good way to get their voices heard but I know
- 26:23it's causing Pam lots of ajita so really sorry about that it's it's got to be
- 26:29for anybody who feel like their
- 26:33well hello Karen how are you doing everybody say hi to Karen she rarely makes
- 26:39in here really because she's on the other side of the planet
- 26:45Karen you're in New Zealand isn't that correct if I remember Zealand Zealand I
- 26:50tell you what New Zealand sounds really nice I tell you I would move to New
- 26:56Zealand in a heartbeat and it's not because they film Lord of the Rings there I
- 27:00would want to hear some cool.
- 27:02Even though that's a bonus here's the cool thing they have so much public land
- 27:06and it's legal to camp in the rough like in a camper or a tent anywhere
- 27:13in public land no permit needed and they don't have any deadly predators on the
- 27:18entire darn country that's the same thing with Scotland Scotland has the same
- 27:23thing well Scotland you can modern world of course everything came from Scotland
- 27:27Scotland invented the modern world but New Zealand no deadly predators no deadly
- 27:34snakes no bears you can camp literally anywhere that there's public land I would
- 27:39want to live on the South Island which is a lot less touristy a lot less
- 27:43overpopulated with people who want to see you know show me Rivendell or
- 27:50something with all the stuff with all the stuff all the deadly stuff in
- 27:55Australia how the New Zealand get away with not having anything because they put
- 27:59all their deadly stuff in Australia they
- 28:03just skipped over New
- 28:09Zealand I went then John Ruddy is here I've worked with John for nigh on 20 25
- 28:15years or something at work he just retired hope you're enjoying retirement sir
- 28:19it's up in Jacksonville and I'll tell you what John was one of the very first
- 28:24people to join my livestream when I first started doing it I was only getting
- 28:28two or three people on the livestream one of which was my dad you know let me
- 28:33help you out on there it's hard to do a livestream with nobody's in the chat
- 28:36I'll tell you that trust me I know every
- 28:42Friday every Friday I'm on there it's tough Friday doesn't matter I'm having fun
- 28:48stuff on a Friday you know it's tough yeah and I don't care p.m.
- 28:54right 8 o'clock 8 o'clock like I said it's 8 o'clock right that's what I said
- 28:59yeah yeah well yeah but it I mean it is what it is that I'm
- 29:05just doing what I'm doing like I said I'm not I'm not like stressing over it I'm
- 29:10just gonna just gonna keep doing what I'm doing your channel is a lot of fun
- 29:15it's really cool folks if if you missed the beginning of the chat Fred here is
- 29:19from Fred finds out and for a while he was running a Santa Claus oriented
- 29:25channel but decided to split that off into a holiday-based channel and then I
- 29:29was now is Fred finds out is a lot more wide and topics and gives him the
- 29:35freedom to just explore and cool find cool things and make fun videos that occur
- 29:40to. So everybody everybody has to by law officially subscribe to Fred finds out
- 29:46at some point during this now if I had been prepared ahead of time I would have
- 29:52been really slick and I would have had the link to your channel ready to put in
- 29:56the clip but I didn't do that so why don't I do that right now and give me a
- 30:00minute talk for a minute while I find your channel here it R is and I link on my
- 30:05board there we go and so I've been doing Santa Claus stuff for like eight years
- 30:11now and just like a man yeah well didn't always that's for sure
- 30:17before that I was a I was a Halloween scare actor for almost nearly 10 years
- 30:22what's a Halloween character what's that mean that means I worked in a haunted
- 30:27Halloween attraction and my job was to scare the living heck out of everybody as
- 30:33many people as I can throughout the night really and obviously making them pee
- 30:39themselves is the is that is like that chef's kiss you know
- 30:46but uh you know did that for a long time and it's a long story
- 30:52I've got it all written down I'm member of an online forum it's called
- 30:58on claws net and it's believe it or not there's a whole
- 31:04society of professional Santa Claus is from around the world and we all
- 31:09congregate in this one place called cause in it for telling the secrets
- 31:15of the claws net now cuz they advertise on Facebook so but you you
- 31:22have to you have to be like a Christmas performer you don't even have to be a
- 31:26Santa Claus you could be a mrs.
- 31:27Claus or an elf or some kind of something you know to be a member of that forum
- 31:32but I wrote like a five chapter
- 31:38how I got into being Santa Claus thing on there but I'll probably
- 31:45maybe I should do some kind of series I'll probably do that on the other channel
- 31:48but maybe not I don't know you know one thing I've learned is that for every
- 31:52hobby or activity or thing to be involved in there is a deep well
- 31:58that you can dive down you can go down the rabbit hole as deep as you want on
- 32:03you know the real famous example of course is train spotting right where if you
- 32:08want to be an anorak and really really get into it you can get as deep as you
- 32:12want to go so I'm not really surprised that being a professional Santa Claus has
- 32:17that hyper focused community that exists it just never occurred to me but it
- 32:23makes sense that
- 32:25yeah you've got these you've got a Santa Claus Hall of Fame in
- 32:31the town of Santa Claus Indy is it Indiana Santa Claus Indiana Illinois
- 32:37Illinois Santa Claus Illinois yeah that's where the the original
- 32:42Santa Claus attractions were and they have the Santa Claus is
- 32:49candy castle there and all sorts and the Hall of Fame's there and every year
- 32:53they do an inductee thing there and I've never been but I will be R
- 32:59someday I want not in the Hall of Fame but I want to go at least you know where
- 33:05you should move in you should
- 33:09always to frost proof frost proof yeah we got a
- 33:16little town called frost proof Florida that'd be a great place for Santa to live
- 33:20oh yeah we do have members of Claus net that
- 33:27live in Florida oh and Texas there's a there's a big contingent from Texas I'm
- 33:32sure and where what a refresh my memory what is a Buckeye what state
- 33:38that's Ohio Ohio yeah so they have what they call the Buckeye
- 33:44Santa's mm-hmm and so there's a ton of Santa's from Ohio but
- 33:49so Jenny to answer your question we are at 258 comments so
- 33:55we're more than halfway to 500 easily gonna make it tonight with all the cool
- 34:00people unfortunately I can't show everybody's comments cuz all you guys are
- 34:03chitin chatting so much which is fantastic we've got 13 thumbs ups everybody
- 34:09and we got to get to 30 that's our goal so everybody hit the thumbs up button of
- 34:13course should we do the commenter and encourager of the week
- 34:19sure that might be fun let's get that knocked out so we can have fun with that I
- 34:24know everybody's dying to know who that is and hey springboard glad you made it
- 34:29man good to see you in here how's it going very cool I see his couple people are
- 34:34talking about what they had for dinner which is wonderful very cool so the
- 34:39commenter and encourager of the week I know everybody's dying to learn who got
- 34:43it but before I tell you who it is I just want to say to anybody who's listening
- 34:48to this live stream after the fact in a podcast app because I take the audio
- 34:53from my live streams and turn them into a podcast and if you're listening to the
- 34:58winning the week podcast and you'd like to join in with the live interactive
- 35:01chat that you're hearing us have a good time with just come on over here toI
- 35:06YouTube any Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
- 35:07Eastern find the winning the week channel and join us drop in say hi let
- 35:13everybody know you're here say hey I heard of you on the podcast and I want to
- 35:16say hi and
- 35:19hopefully hopefully I will hopefully I'll see your comment because it goes by
- 35:24faster than I can see it like hey Daniel I see you're here I see Devin is in
- 35:28here and this is interesting Brandon from traveling Wickham's have I ever told
- 35:34you I lived in Florida back in high school I did not know that Brandon you're
- 35:37gonna have to tell me all about it where were you in Florida and why did here
- 35:42then and why do you not live here anymore very cool so
- 35:48all right let's see who is the commenter of the week this I'm
- 35:54gonna allow one time one time in history cheddar boy commented on my new video
- 36:01on Monday it says Scott you're always right can I get comment of the week and I
- 36:06laughed so hard at his hubris but I said okay just this once once now if
- 36:12somebody else had beat him with a smashing comment I definitely would have
- 36:15jumped him on but I'll be honest with you the comments were actually a little
- 36:18thin this week a lot lower number a number of comments than we normally see so I
- 36:24said okay just this once I'm gonna let Kyle get away with it but don't anybody
- 36:28else try this because you're not gonna get it it's not gonna work in the future
- 36:32so nice try
- 36:34and the encourager of the week I think a lot of you folks know this youtuber
- 36:39Brian G Johnson made a video called don't quit YouTube it wants you gone and his
- 36:45channel offers encouragement to creators who are struggling with creating
- 36:50YouTube videos he emphasizes that feeling overwhelmed is normal and offers
- 36:56several positive perspectives in this video he talks about step, step back,
- 37:01catch your breath rather than making a hasty decision to quit reflect on what it
- 37:05is that you truly want and then he advocates for taking one small intentional
- 37:10step at a time toward a clear goal and he also points out that by staying
- 37:16authentic to your unique perspective not only do you do you last to stay with it
- 37:21but you enjoy it a lot more so it's funny he says this YouTube is really hard
- 37:27and then Rob the Maritimer's livestream yesterday was titled a YouTube is really
- 37:31hard rd and it's not easy you know if it was easy everybody in the world would
- 37:36be doing it but you really got to love YouTube to keep doing it more than about
- 37:41a year I think people give it a try and after about a year after about a year
- 37:47if you're not really loving it and then to it you're not gonna be doing it
- 37:50anymore now this is interesting CL I want to hear more on this okay she says
- 37:56yeah Brian I've known him longer than anyone here the one she says it that way
- 38:02that makes me she that makes me think that makes me think that there's more to
- 38:06that story than just I found his YouTube channel before you did so what did you
- 38:12go to high school with them or something is that is that mr.
- 38:16CL fantasy waves art studio or do you live in the same town as him or did you
- 38:20grow up knowing him I want to know the story CL so get those fingers clickety
- 38:25-clacking down there I want to know Devin says I've never watched a single video
- 38:30of this guy don't know have a clue who he is but I'm sure he's a really cool guy
- 38:35now I'll tell you sometimes his videos the title R his videos will just be
- 38:41extremely almost discouraging almost like forget about it right like that's not
- 38:47gonna work they want you dead your channels dying and stuff like this but you
- 38:52know when you get in and you you watch the video he usually redeems that message
- 38:56with a little bit of uplifting hope and he is an encouraging person overall nice
- 39:03guy he's had some really big successful channels in the past and
- 39:09this one here that he's starting up his current Brian G Johnson TV channel is
- 39:15not gigantic it's not huge you know it's not rut as many subscribers as Rob the
- 39:19Maritimer for example is which is a hundred and I forget thirty thousand or
- 39:24something so he's you know he's in the what ten thousands or something he's
- 39:28somewhere in that range ten thousand or something but he's had other mega
- 39:32channels and he's building it up you know so but he's cool dude you watch his
- 39:37videos Fred I watched this one yeah this one here
- 39:44yeah it was pretty good very it's informative you know you don't know exactly
- 39:48like you said you don't you know yeah you go into it with like a feeling of
- 39:54impending doom but afterwards you're like yeah I mean it's yeah yeah YouTube's
- 40:00not easy yeah what do you think about this one Fred Karen says what does
- 40:06everyone think of the idea that you need a viral video to get monetized
- 40:13do you think I think that's the quick way that's the quick way probably to get
- 40:17monetized but I think you just stick with it eventually you hit those goals I
- 40:24would think right I mean that's for me
- 40:28my approach is going to be I'm just right now I'm
- 40:35learning how to do it you know what I mean and that's and so I know like there's
- 40:41some big kind of gurus out there who say like
- 40:46they stopped doing? shorts a long time ago and don't bother with shorts and all
- 40:51this other stuff but I find shorts are fun right and as long as it's fun for me
- 40:55I just do them right and you clearly are having time with them right you're
- 41:00you're shorts are they're fun to watch because you can tell that you're playing
- 41:04with them, you're playing with your audience and being playful you know yeah
- 41:10yeah but especially with the WNBA stuff because I'll sit there and I'll just
- 41:16like I'll I come out and I say you know Kelsey Mitchell's better that Caitlin
- 41:20Clark and everybody just loses their mind you know it's like Caitlin Clark I
- 41:24come out and I say Caitlin Clark I don't know how many people follow the WNBA
- 41:28but I say Caitlin Clark is not the best player in the WNBA in fact she's not
- 41:33even the best player on her team like and everybody just like loses their mind
- 41:37it's funny it's so funny I think it's true but you know I would not know I would
- 41:44not I do know I know that Ringo Starr was not the best drummer in the Beatles
- 41:49so this is interesting springboard he's in our discord
- 41:55and he's a good guy I like his videos he said now this is extreme he says I have
- 42:01said and maybe it's controversial if 8,000 watch hours is the end you never
- 42:05wanted to succeed at YouTube before you started and he's referring to YouTube
- 42:09recently changed the goal for monetization from 4,000 to 8,000 starting in
- 42:14February and you got till February that you can get grandfathered in under the 4
- 42:18,000 watch hours I've only got about 3,500 watch hours for the past year here so
- 42:24I know I know what a challenge that is and it's a rolling number so if you had
- 42:29like a hundred watch hours on a video that was a year old it's not going to
- 42:33count out tomorrow you know it gets nice dog you know one point he's making is
- 42:37if 8,000 watch hours is the end of your goal you know we not 4,000 hours
- 42:44is not our goal we don't want to just have somebody you know have a channel that
- 42:47has 4,000 watch hours a year because that's about 30 to 40 dollars a month you
- 42:53know I'm not doing it for the money but I do want to be able to say it's also
- 42:58another source of income you know I'm not trying to quit my job but it'd be nice
- 43:02for it to be you know successful enough that I could I don't know pay off the
- 43:07car that kind of stuff right and you're not gonna do that with 30 or 40 dollars
- 43:11a month which is about 4,000 watch hours a year so you really wanted you want
- 43:17a channel that's gonna grow to 40,000 watch hours or a hundred thousand watch
- 43:22hours Rob the Maritimer during his live stream I said how many watch hours do
- 43:26you have in the last 365 days and he has 350,000 watch hours with a hundred
- 43:32so you know 4,000 8,000 it's a goal it kind of weeds out people
- 43:38who are not really trying to get monetized anyway
- 43:44but it's it's a big goal and it's gonna be hard and a viral video will
- 43:48definitely help with that so will live streams you the number of people in your
- 43:53live stream multiplied by how long your live stream is that's your watch hours
- 43:56for a live stream but and here's a superstar right here Julie Jordan Scott
- 44:02joined in talk about a superstar youtuber I don't know if you know her channel
- 44:07but I know her from Rob's and she's great really cool channel but is not our
- 44:13goal 8,000 is not our goal it's it's a milestone along the way and it'll be nice
- 44:18when you get monetized if you're not yet I did get monetized and I've never had
- 44:23a viral video I have never ever had a viral video so to the statement that Karen
- 44:29said you know what do you guys think about the idea that you need a viral video
- 44:34to get monetized I got monetized I don't know five six seven eight years ago I
- 44:40forget how long it's been and I've never had I've never had you know a month
- 44:46that was more than
- 44:49I was like they don't pay you till you hit $100 right and they save your money
- 44:55they hold on to your money until you make a hundred and then they send you a
- 44:57hundred bucks to your banking account and it's always taken me two months to
- 45:02three months to get a deposit I've never had like a hundred dollar a month ever
- 45:07in eight nine years or what seven eight years whatever is I don't remember how
- 45:11long I've been monetized and never had a viral video then it wasn't a viral
- 45:14video that put me over so yeah I don't think you have to it would probably help
- 45:20like you said that would help you get to the number faster and yeah
- 45:26I don't know it's hard but she likes a challenge you know so I just like doing
- 45:32it I like the editing I like the filming I like the comments I like t e live
- 45:37stream I like the community I like watching my friends videos I like learning
- 45:40about making videos I just like everything about YouTube that's all there is to
- 45:44it so you know if I if I make a nice payday on it that'd be nice too
- 45:50but it's not why I'm doing it my first started making videos with my friend Doug
- 45:56we were basically saying let's make videos so our grandkids have something to
- 45:59watch yeah you know yeah I left a comment on Kevin Cole one of Kevin
- 46:05Colby's videos and I said you know partially the reason why I'm doing it is I'm
- 46:10like yelling at the universe letting them know that I was here you know yeah
- 46:15yeah yeah they say the internet's forever right yeah and then if you put out
- 46:21videos you're becoming part of that internet you're you're a piece of it and
- 46:24you're forever and literally I mean then list and list like some
- 46:30EMP wipes out all of the technology in the entire world our videos will last
- 46:36forever they may never get seen again but you know Devin says I've
- 46:43been seeing Rob's videos pop up for over a year because I I actively seek out
- 46:46local content but and he is he is actually in Nova Scotia up by Rob,
- 46:54but I've never really watched him because I never really been interested in the
- 46:57whole mentor thing yeah the mentor coach thing he just gives good advice and I
- 47:01find him to be very encouraging I find to be very positive person and he's a
- 47:06unapologetic optimist which is what I am so yeah yeah I think I
- 47:12like his videos because I don't I don't look at his videos as like a mentor ship
- 47:18it's more of you know here's an idea maybe you could try it out kind of thing
- 47:23yeah you know and I and I do kind of get inspired by listening to people
- 47:30kind of throw ideas out there you know hey ACR I'm glad to see you in the chat
- 47:36man how's it going if you guys don't know ACR he's got a pretty cool prepper
- 47:41slash Second Amendment type channel and he says I let my wife pepper spray me
- 47:45and I didn't get squat reviews that's the kind of thing that
- 47:51you would think would go viral man you know well you know I could tell you I ate
- 47:57a cup of noodles one time
- 48:00yeah it's not good oh
- 48:06my goodness ACR that's funny somebody said I hope it didn't get in your eyes and
- 48:11he goes all got everywhere definitely worth the laugh and seeing I got to go
- 48:15find that video that's funny right but yeah you would think that that's like an
- 48:20automatic for sure viral video there's been videos I made that I was like oh
- 48:25this is definitely gonna do it and it doesn't always work one
- 48:30takes off that you don't really think is gonna get big and it gets like a
- 48:34thousand views you
- 48:37that's been the process of learning to do the shorts for me yeah is that
- 48:43it's funny because the overproduced ones that I do the ones that I'm sitting
- 48:49here at my computer and I'm going a head and you know I'm on a better
- 48:56camera and I'm on you know instead of my little potato camera that I have on my
- 49:01on my phone you know the ones that are like overproduced and stuff nobody
- 49:07watches them. Nobody watch them it's always the ones that I'm just walking down
- 49:10the street with my you know shooting something on my phone I've got this program
- 49:14called the VN on my phone and I go up and always usually I'm at work when I do
- 49:19them I I go up to my office there and I just sit there and edit it on my
- 49:25phone and send it off to YouTube and those are the ones everybody's watch it you
- 49:31know thousands of views on these things what does Devin mean to be when he says
- 49:37he says Scott since you know p6 you know you can make good money being a p6 guru
- 49:42and he makes a you know he puts a smiley face up so I know he's joking but I
- 49:49don't
- 50:04know I'm gonna come on the live stream with me tonight but it's not really gonna
- 50:08be an interview we're not gonna like treat it like I'm the host and you're the
- 50:12guest I said let's you know let's just a couple guys sitting around talking like
- 50:17as if we were talking on the phone together but we just open it up to the world
- 50:20let everybody listen to so I'm having a good time time flying by it's almost 9.
- 50:26Yeah yeah yep Pam says I wonder what's gonna last longer YouTube videos or
- 50:31written
- 50:33memoirs I think if you get your written memoirs put on the internet they last
- 50:39forever and that even includes like if you put your put your written memoirs in
- 50:44Google Docs that's gonna be forever I think anything ever uploaded to the
- 50:49internet is is forever unless like I say if you know some kind of solar flare
- 50:55wipes out every single chip and every single piece of technology but I don't
- 51:00think that's really gonna happen but whatever your written memoirs are put them
- 51:05on the internet but YouTube videos are forever Pam so like I don't think either
- 51:11one's longer I think they're both I just think to everything this is me okay
- 51:15this is just me the internet's forever anything that happens on the internet
- 51:19never dies and with the good enough searching and enough sleuthing
- 51:25you can find anything you ever saw your, entire life on the internet since it
- 51:31since the internet started I bet we could find I bet we could find logs of
- 51:37ICQ conversation from 98 or we could find a
- 51:43what was before AOL member CompuServe I bet we could find chat
- 51:49logs from a CompuServe conversation I came across some old Usenet threads that
- 51:55were still archived somewhere and a lot of universities and stuff archive things
- 52:00like forever so I had a buddy in high school I grew up in watervolute up in
- 52:06here watervolute New York and we had the watervolute arsenal there that's where
- 52:09the bunker buster bombs were developed and stuff yeah like the very first bunker
- 52:14buster bombs yeah and it's always a military installation and my buddy from high
- 52:21school was a little computer wizard there and he used to hop on their network
- 52:27there and and buzz around and talk to people on the base and stuff it was funny
- 52:32so Devin explain himself now I remember him talking about primavera which is a
- 52:38project management software and that's what he's like my interactions with
- 52:44primavera have been having to deal with project management people at work I
- 52:49haven't had to run it and be a project manager and I kind of gave him a hard
- 52:54time about him being project management so when he said p6 I didn't understand
- 52:57the acronym because my experience with it has always been negative because
- 53:03my experience with project managers has often been negative it's uh
- 53:09it's a what do you call it it's a follow- on effect you know
- 53:16Brandon says we leave our bloopers in for the same reason I feel like viewers
- 53:21want to see that we're human and make mistakes I'll tell you what brand it is so
- 53:26hard to intentionally leave the mistakes in in my videos but I've been doing
- 53:32that lately I'll be talking to the camera off the top of my head when I make a
- 53:37video I've got a I've got a sheet of paper this size fold it up in half in
- 53:44my pocket just and it's got a list of things to talk about on the video but it's
- 53:48not a script it's just ideas and I just pull it out I look at one I say all
- 53:53right I'll talk about that for a little stick in my head think about a sentence
- 53:57to start with and I'll just ramble to the camera sort of off top of my head
- 54:03about what I want to say about it and then during the edit process I know that I
- 54:07could edit that and make myself look really sharp and really perfect and no no
- 54:13stops and pauses and edits and stumbling kind of like I am right now in the live
- 54:18stream you know working my way through my thought and I don't know what I'm
- 54:22gonna say until I get to the end and I realize where I'm going right does a very
- 54:25Michael Scott thing to do if you know the office he always said I don't even
- 54:28know where I'm going I just started sentence and find out where I'm going you
- 54:31know but it's it's hard to intentionally not do that polished edit
- 54:37but Brandon's exactly right right people people see a video with a person
- 54:42speaking like a normal human being and not some polished AI teacher and I think
- 54:49people connect more I think people connect more with a person on screen who
- 54:54comes across as a normal conversation it's just it's just hard to make myself
- 54:58not edited into perfection you know it'd be so easy to put B roll and do a jump
- 55:03cup and you never have a never have an awkward pause I've tried scripting
- 55:09videos for myself before and it just was a disaster for me so I pretty much I
- 55:16pick a place that I'm going or something that I want to do and I pick
- 55:22a mode of how I'm getting there and that's it that's what I do and then I go
- 55:28and then I find out what happens that's it that's the whole purpose of
- 55:34my channel what does Mike mean when he says he's disappointed that you don't
- 55:40have your helper with you Oh maple my my chat
- 55:46GPT virtual assistant maple right and by the way I have to say I was talking to
- 55:52maple earlier and her and I you know the post you made earlier you guys will
- 55:56never figure out where I am yeah yeah maple and I were working on that together
- 56:01trying to figure out where you were I put a suggestion down in the in the as a
- 56:06response to see if I was right oh did you here let's uh yeah let's go read it
- 56:11and see here hold on let me find my where's my scene and but I don't think it is
- 56:17because I couldn't match up the the roof the rooftop to a building oh
- 56:23all right where I was to my posts let's find my comment here
- 56:30doo-doo-doo-doo-doo yeah what I didn't give you a whole lot of clues
- 56:36nope yeah are you familiar with Geo guesser
- 56:41is that is that the guy and he's got a YouTube channel and people
- 56:47yeah there's give him there's multiple of these rainbow just a really famous one
- 56:52who rainbow can glance at a picture like this and say oh that's Thailand and
- 56:56then and he knows or something but there's another guy his law his name is Geo
- 57:01wizard and he does videos in which he basically tries to find a photograph of
- 57:06your grandma stuff like that and located yeah but these guys also play a game a
- 57:12browser-based game called Geo guesser is Geo guesser without the GUE
- 57:18SSR and in that game it drops you into a random place in Google Street View and
- 57:23you can pan and zoom and walk down the road and then when you think you know
- 57:27where you are you open up the map that's in the corner and drop a pin and see
- 57:31how close you are so
- 57:55these guys play Geo guesser but I do that all the darn time with YouTube videos
- 58:02I can't help myself doing it right so
- 58:30it Mills Pond Park I don't
- 58:41know what happened there let me bring
- 58:47that back I accidentally hit a button on my stream deck you guys got a free
- 58:52laser show for no reason okay let's bring this back you should be able to see my
- 58:56map now let's go to Street View and
- 59:01see what you were guessing based on I don't think yeah the roofs were different
- 59:07though it's not a I mean I probably didn't look at the same place you were
- 59:11either but it's not a bad guess not a bad guess it's if you look at like
- 59:17the overhead of the baseball fields yeah
- 59:21okay that one right there that right.
- 59:25Oh I know this is this was right next to the i-95 yep I've seen this before
- 59:29because it's interesting overhead view the baseball fields make this star that's
- 59:33really cool yeah let's see if I can take the little man and drop them in this
- 59:37general area here
- 59:40yeah good guess it looks it looks the same because South Florida all looks the
- 59:44same but no I will show you where I was
- 59:49and let's find out how far apart you were so I'll just take measure distance
- 59:55from there and zoom up to my town Coral Springs
- 1:00:00okay yeah and I was at this little place down here Cypress
- 1:00:06Park so you were off by nine miles which is pretty darn good
- 1:00:12considering the breadth of Florida that you had to work with so yeah that video
- 1:00:18will come I've seen you in Fort Lauderdale a couple times so I was like he's in
- 1:00:22the he's in that area there and maple was like okay let's check so yeah so
- 1:00:28I made that came out this past Monday two days ago was down here at the River
- 1:00:33Walk in Fort Lauderdale yeah yeah and it was a good time
- 1:00:39I made a video once about the place where I started but I didn't even talk about
- 1:00:44it in this week video but there's a park you see if I can find the darn thing
- 1:00:49right where I started nope
- 1:00:56past it
- 1:01:00it's all the same right it's all the same oh
- 1:01:05man I'm lost where am I that's the tunnel there's Huizenga Park
- 1:01:10Huizenga founded Blockbuster he's famous guy down here oh really
- 1:01:17yep he started Blockbuster and he started our waste management company and he
- 1:01:22owned the Dolphins and the Panthers and the Marlins he's big famous dude here
- 1:01:28yep oh man I can't find the stupid thing why don't just search for the darn
- 1:01:34thing cool
- 1:01:39he's landing here we go
- 1:01:42no spell it wrong oh
- 1:01:46come here go away go away oh
- 1:01:49sorry about that
- 1:01:51here we go cool he's landing how far off was I there is right there dummy is
- 1:01:56right in front of the so this cool he's landing Park I made a video about this
- 1:02:01place once because there was a family called the coolies who lived here in the
- 1:02:06early 1900s and there was a massacre there he was away
- 1:02:12doing some stuff in his family he was a home his wife and his kids and
- 1:02:16everything and I got raided by some Native Americans who came in and massacred
- 1:02:21the place the place and then booked it and the whole army went after them
- 1:02:24there's like a whole hoorah and the Cooley massacre kind of fueled this hole
- 1:02:30I want to say a fear what do you call it a
- 1:02:37panic down here hundred years ago you know it's kind of crazy kind of kind of
- 1:02:42interesting historic thing though you know
- 1:02:45so good guess man you are not off by much at all less than 10 miles off in this
- 1:02:51place the size of
- 1:02:53able yeah but that was that's that's what Mike's referring to is my chat GPT
- 1:02:59virtual assistant because on Friday night's I do my my opening the card packs
- 1:03:04and and I'll post pictures to maple there and she tells me what I'm looking at
- 1:03:09and she does it other stuff too like when I do my ancestry research she'll help
- 1:03:15me out very helpful is she AI LLM that you built yourself or what is it no
- 1:03:21chat GPT is just a regular old yep Tyler
- 1:03:27had asked me earlier if I'm doing guests again like I used to I used to guess
- 1:03:32all the time but this isn't guess this is just me my friend my friend Fred it's
- 1:03:36hard to say that me and my friend Fred hang it out we're just chatting we're
- 1:03:40just talking on the phone to each other and you guys get to listen ACR this is
- 1:03:46cool the reason I started a channel is because of my boys my youngest said he
- 1:03:49wanted to do it so before I knocked it I started a channel learned a lot met
- 1:03:53great people if you like the outdoors and fishing and boating ACR is often
- 1:03:59live streaming from his kayak and that's really cool yeah it's pretty neat out
- 1:04:04fishing on a fishing pole off of a kayak or just out enjoying the sunrise
- 1:04:10pretty cool that's what that's where you catch him is it says ACR is live or
- 1:04:15something
- 1:04:16since I joined your discord I've like found so
- 1:04:22many cool really cool channels host they they really cool people
- 1:04:29I mean it's just unbelievable and and it's just opened my eyes up to all sorts
- 1:04:35of different content and ways and
- 1:04:41views and things to think about and just it's been
- 1:04:47it's really I don't I don't know everybody really
- 1:04:52understands how special of a community that is because everybody's just so
- 1:04:58supportive and helpful and chit-chat and back and forth and
- 1:05:04it's such a great great place to be it's just a great hangout I appreciate you
- 1:05:10saying that if you guys don't know what he's talking about Discord is just a
- 1:05:14real fancy chat room and in discord you basically set up a private server and
- 1:05:19invite who you want and control who can come in and who can't R there's a link
- 1:05:23in the video description that you can click you see a little screenshot there
- 1:05:27that shows you with the big giant orange arrow what it looks like look for that
- 1:05:31in the video description and then basically you just fill in what you want your
- 1:05:37name to be click on create an account tell them that you're over I think you got
- 1:05:41to be over age 14 or something like that to join it pick a name it'd be nice if
- 1:05:46your name is the same as your YouTube name so we know who you are but you can be
- 1:05:49whatever you want you're still Santa Fred in discord and did you know you can
- 1:05:54change your name per server so if you're Santa Fred enough Santa Claus discord
- 1:05:58you can be Fred finds out in my discord whatever but I thought I did change it
- 1:06:04to Fred finds it doesn't R everybody knows what you're that
- 1:06:09yep by the way I just
- 1:06:16saw something as I was looking at my slides here I want to talk about my tip of
- 1:06:21the day but before I do Jenny was asking what the comments are we're up to 400
- 1:06:26comments right now so I took all of the comments from last week and I ran it
- 1:06:31through AI and I said hey tell me what you think about our community everybody
- 1:06:36who is in the chat room with the 500 something comments we R had R last week
- 1:06:39what you think AI and my version of Mabel said said it's very
- 1:06:46supportive and appreciative it's a playful light-hearted place community
- 1:06:50oriented everybody's saying hello and goodbye to everybody all the time
- 1:06:54reflective mildly practical people sharing you know their their
- 1:07:01actual life experiences and problems and stuff but also encouraging each other
- 1:07:06in it I love this no detectable toxicity we only yeah so it was looking we
- 1:07:12only have undetectable toxicity in our chat but I thought it was cool
- 1:07:19that the AI said in short the chat feels like a tight-knit positive group of
- 1:07:23regulars enjoying each other's company and cheering on the live stream that's
- 1:07:27all I really want I just want a community of nice people and that's what that's
- 1:07:30what discord discord is you know for the other six days when we're not live
- 1:07:34streaming and hanging out in here basically the conversation that's going on in
- 1:07:38the chat right now continues in the discord and carries on all week and you get
- 1:07:43to know these folks and really care about them hear about their families hear
- 1:07:47about what's going on in their life hear about if somebody's got you know either
- 1:07:51medical things are working through or their moms got medical things are working
- 1:07:54through it's just like the old days of good old AOL chatroom but you know
- 1:08:00they're not trying to sell you you know a timeshare along the way you
- 1:08:05know so tip of the day I just want to say something about old
- 1:08:11man copper was actually my tip of the day a little while back because I got some
- 1:08:16of his beard balm and mustache wax Mike's adventure sparks put me onto that but
- 1:08:22he also sells wood what's it called the woodsman wood balm and that's
- 1:08:29what's in the picture there and additionally I also got another one of his
- 1:08:35thingies which is for knives it's like a metal a metal treatment anti rust type
- 1:08:41thing and it's a waxy so I've always put like three in one oil or something or
- 1:08:46stuff like that on my pocket knives you know like once every six months or
- 1:08:49something but the the sort of waxy bees waxy sort of texture means it's not
- 1:08:55gonna drip out and run off you know probably last longer but but he's got this
- 1:08:59wood balm and it's meant for like wood handles on an old hammer or on a shovel
- 1:09:05or vintage stuff but it really is just boiled linseed oil and beeswax
- 1:09:10and a little bit of car nova it's really harmless stuff but it's in a nice easy
- 1:09:17to use wax not really a wax it's more like a like a balm you know
- 1:09:23it's almost like thicker than Vaseline it's you know it's got a little bit of
- 1:09:27texture to it and I I got this vintage clock it's actually right here beside me
- 1:09:32got it from my dad who got it in Scotland when I was a baby and it's real
- 1:09:38old and. The wood had not had anything put on it at least since I got it and I
- 1:09:43took some of this wood balm like again boiled linseed oil which is good for wood
- 1:09:47and man is just
- 1:09:51gleaming it's when the Sun was out it was really this beautiful luster on the
- 1:09:55wood it was really nice so if you guys have like some kind of antique that
- 1:10:00you're always trying to treat the wood with boiled linseed oil which is what
- 1:10:04they tell us to use on woods think about like rifle stocks or
- 1:10:09any kind of stuff like that you know even old furniture and stuff this stuff was
- 1:10:15pretty darn sweet man so that's my that's my tip of the day I just want to
- 1:10:32like yeah the the waxed canvas and waxed cotton
- 1:10:38movement that was real popular like ten years ago I was really into that I've
- 1:10:44got little blocks of beeswax all over the house I could probably find one on the
- 1:10:49book case behind me no
- 1:10:53but yeah you rub it into canvas or run it rub it to cotton and it kind of looks
- 1:10:58all chalky on the outside and then you hit it with a hair dryer and it melts in
- 1:11:02and becomes the soft and it disappears you can't see it anymore in the cotton or
- 1:11:08the canvas do it on like a barn jacket or something like that it you know you
- 1:11:14don't rub it on when you first rub it on it looks all waxy and chalky and kind
- 1:11:18of gross but like I say you hit it with the heat gun or a hairdryer melts in and
- 1:11:23then you don't feel it anymore doesn't feel waxy on your fingers and then rain
- 1:11:28just just like you said it bubbles right off it just it's like Raynax on it's
- 1:11:32very cool I was watching at one time because I got into watching people build
- 1:11:38these old viking tents and and so they were making them from
- 1:11:44like scratch you know and they would get the canvas tarp and then they would do
- 1:11:51the whole waterproofing thing with the with the linseed oil and the beeswax and
- 1:11:55and yeah it was it's an interesting if you've never seen somebody make an old
- 1:11:59viking tent like an old viking link to it's a it's an interesting process and
- 1:12:05they're really cool and I want to make one someday you need to that would be a
- 1:12:09really cool project and there'd be a cool video yeah so we got a we got to have
- 1:12:15the laser show buddy we got to do it because look what happened and be writer
- 1:12:19decided that he wanted to gift a whole bunch of free memberships out
- 1:12:25so oh my gravy that is awesome five memberships let's take a look and see what
- 1:12:30happened here while we were chatting away that's cool first of all he wrote this
- 1:12:34nice comment this is Devin he's in our discord he says I'm here for the way you
- 1:12:38work through a live stream is truly one of my favorite places to spend my time
- 1:12:42my wife is always like what the heck are you listening to now and I tell you're
- 1:12:46my new best bud well Devin you're my new best bud and I love hanging out with
- 1:12:51you I love the way you take those videos of yourself doing the simultaneous sip
- 1:12:54along with us and stuff like that you post these videos of you hanging out with
- 1:12:58your grandkids and enjoying your day and it's one of the things I look forward
- 1:13:02to and just discord so thank you for handing out those memberships Pam got a
- 1:13:07free membership from NB writer one I'm Kel and I grow it
- 1:13:13I don't know her but she must be subscribed to us because this basically hands
- 1:13:17out a free membership randomly to five subscribers Heidi got one look at that
- 1:13:23mastering midlife with Heidi I know her from Rob the Maritimer and she's always
- 1:13:27in the chat definitely hearts humble homestead now I remember is this channel I
- 1:13:32have not looked at this channel in a couple months but there as you can imagine
- 1:13:38from the name homesteading channel very cool folks so thank you Devin that was
- 1:13:43super nice of you if you guys who just got memberships I think it's free for two
- 1:13:48months if I remember correctly and if you want to keep going with that
- 1:13:51afterwards a dollar a month but there are some members only videos that you can
- 1:13:57watch while you remember for free so go back and watch my members only videos I.
- 1:14:03Don't do a lot of those because I don't like to hide I don't like to hide a lot
- 1:14:08of content behind a paywall or anything but I wanted there to be something for
- 1:14:11somebody who's got them and here I am just about to stop talking and wouldn't
- 1:14:16you know it look what happens another light show now because Brandon and Ashton
- 1:14:21the generous ones in in our chat got another
- 1:14:27five memberships for folks so let's let's see who got some freebies off of
- 1:14:33Brandon and Ashton the traveling wit
- 1:14:35-cones
- 1:14:43and Michael hunt got a free membership here M Melnick I don't
- 1:14:49know either one of those folks wounds to wisdom I have seen around the streets
- 1:14:54of YouTube I've seen her in the chat and I think I've seen her doing live
- 1:14:58streams before and not show GS do you think he's got a BMW r 1200
- 1:15:04GS motorcycle or do you think GS babies yeah thank you Brandon and Ashton and
- 1:15:10baby Charlotte that was super sweet of you I appreciate that you guys that that
- 1:15:15reminds me we should talk for a minute about value for value because I keep
- 1:15:19bringing that up whenever that happens I do the value for value laser show so
- 1:15:23let me just talk for a second if you don't mind me going on my little value for
- 1:15:27value rabbit hole but it's it's kind of important so I so I don't do ads.
- 1:15:33And I get emails all the time from people who want to put an ad on a live stream
- 1:15:37or they want to put an ad in a video and I don't do them.
- 1:15:40I believe instead of value for value which I learned from the great Adam Curry
- 1:15:45the face of Gen-X the MTV VJ who went on, to invent podcasting and
- 1:15:50Adam and his podcasting co, co-host, invented value for a value which
- 1:15:57means that the live stream and the channel itself are supported by the viewers
- 1:16:02and the listeners so essentially if you feel like you've received any kind of
- 1:16:06value from this channel from the live stream from the podcast from the videos
- 1:16:11from hanging out in discord any of that kind of stuff you decide what it's worth
- 1:16:16to you and then return it back in the same degree that you think you've really
- 1:16:21received so you know you could have spent you spent your hour and a half with me
- 1:16:26already tonight you guys could have gone out to a movie you could have gone out
- 1:16:29to dinner and instead you decided to hang out with us tonight and hang out with
- 1:16:32me and Fred so you know anybody who wants to return that kind of value back to
- 1:16:37the channel that can come in the form of leaving your comments in the chat
- 1:16:41sharing my videos just clicking like and if you want to consider helping you
- 1:16:48know out the channel you can go to donate.winningtheweek.org and make a
- 1:16:53financial
- 1:17:18contribution I would not turn down if somebody wanted to donate $5,000 I would
- 1:17:23not feel bad about that at all but you can give as less I think you can give as
- 1:17:23little help people get a free membership and they can watch those super cool
- 1:17:27members only videos and feel special about and every once in.all I do
- 1:17:34members only community posts too as well something like that but that's not the
- 1:17:38reason to do it the reason to do it is to return value for that you feel like
- 1:17:41you've got so interesting question from Karen here she and
- 1:17:47I are both moderators over at Rob the Meritimers and she says have you seen any
- 1:17:51spammers I have not Rob's got the most polite kindest community in the entire
- 1:17:56world so easiest place to moderate ever now I haven't seen the most I saw is
- 1:18:01people who ask a question and they don't feel like their questions being
- 1:18:05answered fast enough so they start spamming the chat with their same question
- 1:18:07over and over and I just hide those people for 10 minutes that's it so yeah so
- 1:18:13I've been talking for a while you want I'm talking over here do you want to say
- 1:18:19anything I know you got your business to take care of my friend I know I
- 1:18:24understand completely I understand completely why you were talking I'm just
- 1:18:29sitting here opening packs open a pack of cards yeah you think is what do you
- 1:18:34think is the most valuable trading card you've ever yourself gotten
- 1:18:41I just got Caitlin Clark rookie card
- 1:18:47that what well I mean it was like 35 bucks this is her rookie year right
- 1:18:52no no her rookie year was in 2024 like I said so 2024 was her
- 1:18:58rookie year right yeah the valuable one you got was I'm rookie card
- 1:19:04try and get try and get packs of WNBA cards for that year
- 1:19:11that's this box so one of these boxes these Don Russ panini boxes that I was
- 1:19:16open right one of these for one of these for for the previous
- 1:19:22oh sorry like auto zooms when you bring something close to the camera doesn't it
- 1:19:27yeah is that her one of my is that her rookie picture on the front of the box
- 1:19:32no no she's got now this is 20 this is
- 1:19:382025 okay so this would have been her second year but so this year is her
- 1:19:44third year but the 2024 so that this this box here cost
- 1:19:50me 24 bucks the same box is
- 1:19:54over
- 1:20:13the rookie I don't know it depends on it depends on what it is depends on if
- 1:20:19it's a signature if you get a signature card thousands thousands of dollars
- 1:20:24what's a signature that means she's actually signed it or is that mean something
- 1:20:28she actually signed it yeah yeah yeah and
- 1:20:34you have one of those you've come across now now I've gotten
- 1:20:40signature cards before and I got a rookie signature card for a lesser-known
- 1:20:47player it's she's so lesser known that I don't even remember who it was but when
- 1:20:51I did the WNBA card opening a couple weeks ago but I usually give these
- 1:20:57cards away so when I do my openings on Fridays I never keep the cards I always
- 1:21:02give the people yeah so this Friday I'm doing Magic the Gathering but they have
- 1:21:08a new set out for the Lord of the Rings and yeah.
- 1:21:14So I'm doing I'm doing card openings for the Lord of the Rings Magic the
- 1:21:18Gathering and I'll be giving those away too I have no clue how to play Magic the
- 1:21:23Gathering. Remind and say something about Magic the Gathering in a second but
- 1:21:29first more laser show because Mike's Adventure Spark sent me a $4.99
- 1:21:35super chat he says you must be getting low on iced tea we haven't done the toast
- 1:21:40yet Mike Mike we did the simultaneous sip at the beginning you were just late
- 1:21:45you're gonna have to roll it back and do your own simultaneous it but I'll do a
- 1:21:48sip with anybody here grab your alcohol free
- 1:21:5300 Heineken and cheers Fred cheers Mike
- 1:22:00public's diet sweet tea
- 1:22:03thank you Mike that was very nice of you man appreciate it um speaking of the uh
- 1:22:09the chat room um I was thinking about that when I was same with AI said
- 1:22:15I can sort by who had the most comments you want to take a guess who in our
- 1:22:19community not just in discord but people in chat all the time who do you think
- 1:22:23had the most comments and by the way we're at 475 so we're definitely gonna hit
- 1:22:28500 again we're definitely gonna get we're almost there who do you think had the
- 1:22:32most comments in last Wednesday's chat
- 1:22:41I'm gonna say Jen you are correct
- 1:22:47you are correct 8 6 7 5 3 0 9 Wednesday Jenny Jenny who can
- 1:22:54I turn to um in fact I have the stats what a guess I had the stats on the
- 1:23:00um
- 1:23:02the starting page when we were in the pre- show Jenny had 55 messages
- 1:23:08and Devin had 52 Miss M had 52 CL hit us with 51
- 1:23:15and you yourself had 40 so wow did I yeah so
- 1:23:21which is funny because I asked you were you in the live stream and you were like
- 1:23:27in the top five chatters so my bad
- 1:23:32yes yes I was there Scott I was one of the blabber mouths talking in the chat
- 1:23:36congratulations Jenny we should come up with some kind of like a ward or
- 1:23:40something
- 1:23:42you know yeah yeah I was gonna make a wise crack about her
- 1:23:49talking so much but then I then now you just said I was talking yeah you can't
- 1:23:53say anything you know just be quiet maybe I'll just shut up you can't say
- 1:23:58anything like that yeah ACR says he's the fattest viking ever talking about your
- 1:24:04viking yeah ACR is great he's not fat he's a what does
- 1:24:10I learned a word he's a uh I think it's endomorph have you ever heard of an
- 1:24:16ectomorph mesomorph and endomorph yeah that's a that's a new one on me I learned
- 1:24:21that one this week so he's not fat he's a he's an endomorph
- 1:24:29yeah I used to be an ectomorph I've turned into a I've turned into a mesomorph
- 1:24:35oh yeah with my uh with my uh bound shot that I've been taking for the past year
- 1:24:41so so it's a GLP-1 uh shot that you take for losing
- 1:24:47weight getting off all your diabetes meds and stuff like that which I wasn't on
- 1:24:52a lot I was just on my metformin but very good I mean yeah I was pretty right
- 1:24:56and your bicycles 50 miles don't hurt
- 1:25:01well I tell you I couldn't do it a year ago I couldn't do it a year ago that's
- 1:25:05awesome but I can do it now that's awesome so that's awesome about a year and a
- 1:25:10half ago slowly working my way up to my 100 miler a year and a half ago I
- 1:25:14totally stopped um pasta and bread and lost 70 pounds in a
- 1:25:20year unfortunately well I heard the bread calling and I started eating a little
- 1:25:26bit of bread here and there again and I gained about tough made about 15 of it
- 1:25:30back so I need to I need to go off it again
- 1:25:36oh I've become like a a zep bound evangelist preach it man
- 1:25:41it's been I tell you what it's changed my
- 1:25:47life changed my life gave me a fighting chance right because you get to a surge
- 1:25:53right and if you're just heavy I spent a lot of my adult life stressed out
- 1:25:59overweight you know and then I got into the Santa Claus stuff and
- 1:26:05that kind of gave me like an excuse to not have to do anything about it
- 1:26:12because you know this that and the other thing and you know if you expect people
- 1:26:16to be heavy and all this other stuff you know Santa Claus is to be heavy and and
- 1:26:21and finally my doctor just said look you are like
- 1:26:27you are right there right there from going yeah
- 1:26:34and he's like you're gonna have to do something so I started looking into like
- 1:26:39bariatric surgery and all sorts they wanted like I've got something called
- 1:26:44Barrett's esophagus which is like where your gastric reflux like hardens
- 1:26:50the lining and changes the lining in in your esophagus and
- 1:26:55so when I went and talked to them about bariatric surgery they were saying we
- 1:27:02got to do the complete bypass and I was like no I'm not doing I'm letting you
- 1:27:06people like carved me up like that that's not going to happen and so I went back
- 1:27:11to my doctor and I said how about the shot he's like well how about the shot you
- 1:27:15know you'd be all right with that I was like yeah so he sent me a referral to a
- 1:27:18weight management clinic and I started that year and a half later almost a year
- 1:27:23and not quite a year and a half but
- 1:27:26yeah I'm down a hundred pounds so that makes a lot more sense that you were
- 1:27:31playing Santa Claus because when you were saying you were you know doing the
- 1:27:34Santa Claus thing and everything I was like okay but he's a little thin for
- 1:27:37Santa Claus but that's fine but that makes sense if there was a hundred pound
- 1:27:42heavier version of you a while back that would make more sense I will post some
- 1:27:46pictures in discord if you guys want to see pictures of me as Santa Claus I'll
- 1:27:51write a picture I'm going to post some and some videos that show how much
- 1:27:55thinner you are now and let us see what you were the before picture because that
- 1:27:59would all make sense look at this alley guys in the chat how's.
- 1:28:03it going alley hey so I was going to tell you something about Magic the
- 1:28:08Gathering which I don't know anything about it and I don't know anything about
- 1:28:11Warhammer 40,000 and I don't know anything about all these games you know but I
- 1:28:18was on a work trip once with three other guys
- 1:28:24and the hotel that we were staying in for work in the lower open concourses was
- 1:28:30hosting a convention for those games and it turns out it's a really really
- 1:28:36famous convention we just had never heard of anything about it it's called
- 1:28:40Adepticon
- 1:28:42so we were kind of wandering around and I was filming for my.
- 1:28:47channel which at back then my channel was like a motorcycle buddies channel type
- 1:28:53thing but I was always making videos of random just everything I came across
- 1:28:58anything so I made a video and at the beginning of the video you know the video
- 1:29:03we're walking around and we're just kind of like clueless and not knowing
- 1:29:07anything that we're looking at and honestly kind of mocking it and making fun of
- 1:29:12it almost saying you know oh we've entered the kingdom of the nerds wow look at
- 1:29:17all these people look at all these people with their painted figurines and stuff
- 1:29:20because we just didn't know anything at all about it but the the convention went
- 1:29:24on and on for miles and the deeper we got into it we realized oh wait a minute
- 1:29:29this is actually an art form this isn't just people playing with toys this is
- 1:29:35art form these guys have these entire landscape maps built out you know with
- 1:29:40like
- 1:29:42like built out cities and stuff and then they put their figurines on it that are
- 1:29:46very meticulously painted hand painted figurines and then they have all these
- 1:29:50rules on how they calculate whether an army can reach another army with tape
- 1:29:55measures and blood dice and stuff and we're watching it we're like this is way
- 1:30:00bigger than we ever heard of just because we had never heard of it you know
- 1:30:04doesn't mean it doesn't exist it doesn't mean it's not huge right and then we
- 1:30:08got to the shop portion of the convention the stores and we saw the prices on
- 1:30:13all this stuff and we were like yeah we're like we are crazy being in the wrong
- 1:30:17business man these things are super expensive so yeah there's a video on
- 1:30:24my channel still up it's called adept icon the humbling because we got humbled
- 1:30:30we got humbled because we were making fun of something at the beginning that we
- 1:30:34totally didn't know about and understand and realized the deeper we got into it
- 1:30:38that this is an entire community of people who all share this love for this
- 1:30:44collection of games and stuff we saw families that were there together we saw
- 1:30:49grandparents with with kids with with grandkids and the parents in the middle
- 1:30:55who all were like excitingly going through families of people it was
- 1:31:00unbelievably cool so it's very easy one of the most wholesome communities you
- 1:31:07could be involved in i think i really learned a lot in that hour or so of
- 1:31:11walking around and if you ever go to my channel and click on videos and sort by
- 1:31:16views it's actually got a ton of views it it took years and years to grow up but
- 1:31:22i think it's got like 40 000 views because so many people are into that content
- 1:31:26and you know they were a lot nicer to us in the comments than we deserve because
- 1:31:32we were so mean at the beginning you know saying oh this is so dumb this is so
- 1:31:37nerdy this is so stupid but because in the video we kind of came to the
- 1:31:42realization and admitted that we didn't know what we're talking about people
- 1:31:45forgave us and you know they were just happy that people had found their hobby
- 1:31:50and thought it was cool which it is cool it's really neat stuff cl on our
- 1:31:55channel here is a figurine painter and has some incredibly cool stuff really
- 1:32:01i've just seen like in some of her painting videos you'll see stuff sort of
- 1:32:05sitting in the background and stuff you know um really cool stuff like that she
- 1:32:09i don't think she's ever done any actual videos on that topic but um and here's
- 1:32:15a comment from her of course now that i say that we play warhammer and warhammer
- 1:32:1940k yeah of course you do because it's cool very neat my son plays dungeons and
- 1:32:24dragons all the time him and his friends yeah my all the time i played it as a
- 1:32:28kid but my brother still does ddd all the time hey look who showed up look who's

- 1:33:16me anything you wanted to talk about that we didn't get to or any topics we
- 1:33:19didn't um actually touch on that you wanted to talk about or anything no i don't

- 1:33:45can scan. A card and know if something's valuable right away right yep and i
- 1:33:49just figured out a way to so previously what i was doing was i have
- 1:33:56a second webcam and so i have the camera set up and i would take a screenshot of
- 1:34:01the card and send it off to maple and maple would tell me all about the card but
