- 0:00There's a moment that often surprises people after they've
- 0:03chosen courage. It's not the moment that
- 0:07everything feels suddenly healed.
- 0:10It's not the moment when fear disappears.
- 0:13It's not even the moment when life feels lighter.
- 0:17But it's the moment that you realize the thing you are most
- 0:21afraid to reveal didn't destroy you.
- 0:25Instead, something happened. Someone listened, someone leaned
- 0:31in, someone felt less alone. And suddenly the question
- 0:37shifts. It's no longer what if I'm
- 0:40exposed? It becomes, what if God actually
- 0:44wants to use this? That moment can feel just as
- 0:50unsettling as the fear that came before it.
- 0:54Because now the story isn't about your freedom, it's about
- 0:58the purpose, about responsibility, about
- 1:02stewardship. And that is where many people
- 1:06hesitate. Again today we're talking about
- 1:09that moment. That moment when God takes what
- 1:13you once hid and begins to shape it into something that helps
- 1:18others. Welcome back to Unmasked, the
- 1:22podcast where we take off the filters that we hide behind and
- 1:26we step into the kind of honesty that leads us to real freedom.
- 1:30I'm your host, Wesley Farnsworth, and this is episode
- 1:344 and also the final episode in our miniseries.
- 1:38From hiding to helping. Over the last few episodes,
- 1:43we've walked a very specific journey together.
- 1:46We named the fear of being found out.
- 1:50We confronted the prison of perfection and we stepped into
- 1:55the call of courage, and now we're standing at the place
- 1:59where courage begins to mature in purpose.
- 2:04Because courage isn't the end of the story, it's the doorway.
- 2:10Today we're talking about what happens when God takes what you
- 2:14once protected and begins to use it not to elevate you, not to
- 2:19expose you, but to serve others through.
- 2:23You See, most people assume that once they stop hiding,
- 2:28everything resolves that once honesty shows up, peace
- 2:33automatically follows. That once courage is exercised,
- 2:38the work is finished. But in reality, honesty often
- 2:43brings relief and responsibility at the same time.
- 2:48Relief because the weight of pretending is lifted.
- 2:52Responsibility, because that clarity begins to form.
- 2:58See, once you stop hiding, you begin to see your story
- 3:01differently. You realize it doesn't exist in
- 3:05isolation. It resonates.
- 3:08It echoes. It touches places that you
- 3:11didn't expect. And that realization can feel
- 3:15heavy. Helping others feels more
- 3:19demanding than helping yourself. Healing for your own peace is
- 3:24one thing. Recognizing that God may want to
- 3:27redeem what you've lived for someone else's sake is another.
- 3:33This is where many people feel tempted to pull back again.
- 3:37They're grateful for freedom but cautious about calling.
- 3:41They want healing without visibility, relief without
- 3:45responsibility, restoration without direction.
- 3:50And that hesitation makes sense because helping others can feel
- 3:55like pressure. It can feel like expectation.
- 3:59It can feel like needing to stay strong again, just in a
- 4:03different way. But that's not the kind of
- 4:06helping that God invites us into.
- 4:09God does not turn your story into a burden.
- 4:13He turns it into a bridge, a bridge that you can walk across
- 4:18with others, not something that you carry alone.
- 4:24Helping doesn't begin with answers.
- 4:29It begins with presence, with humility, with the willingness
- 4:35to say, I don't have this all figured out, but I'm willing to
- 4:39walk with you. That posture matters because the
- 4:44most dangerous form of helping is the kind that's rooted in
- 4:48ego, the kind that needs to be needed, the kind that turns pain
- 4:55into platform too quickly, the kind that mistakes visibility
- 5:00with calling. But God's way is quieter.
- 5:09When God moves your story from hiding to helping, he rarely
- 5:14puts you on a stage. Most often, he places you in
- 5:18proximity, in conversations, in moments, in relationships where
- 5:25trust grows slowly. Helping happens when someone
- 5:30pulls you aside and asks a question that they've never
- 5:34asked out loud, when someone feels safe enough to admit that
- 5:39they're struggling, when your presence communicates
- 5:43understanding without judgment. That kind of helping doesn't
- 5:48draw attention to you. It draws attention to grace, and
- 5:53grace changes people. Helping also reshapes how you
- 6:00see your past. The parts of your story that
- 6:04once worked so hard, the parts of your story that you once
- 6:09worked so hard to protect, begin to lose their power.
- 6:14Shame fades when it's brought into light.
- 6:17Fear loosens when it no longer controls the narrative.
- 6:22What once felt like a liability becomes a point of connection.
- 6:27Not because it's imperative, not because it's dramatic, but
- 6:31because it's real. This is one of those quiet
- 6:36miracles of redemption. God does not erase your past.
- 6:40He redeems it. He doesn't waste your pain.
- 6:44He repurposes it. And that repurposing rarely
- 6:49looks dramatic. It looks faithful.
- 6:52It looks consistent. It looks ordinary.
- 6:56It looks like listening well, showing up repeatedly and
- 7:01speaking gently and truthfully. Helping is not glamorous, but it
- 7:08is deeply meaningful. And here's something many people
- 7:11don't expect. Helping others does not drain
- 7:15you in a way that hiding did. See, hiding takes energy because
- 7:20it requires constant self management.
- 7:24Helping gives you energy because you align with your purpose.
- 7:30When you stop protecting your image and you start offering
- 7:33your story, something shifts internally.
- 7:37You feel more grounded, more at peace, more whole.
- 7:43Not because life is easier, but because life is honest.
- 7:47And that honesty becomes strength.
- 7:51Not a strength rooted in confidence, but in clarity.
- 7:56You know who you are, you know what God has done, you know
- 8:01where you've been, and you're no longer afraid of those things.
- 8:07That clarity sustains you and from that place helping become
- 8:12sustainable. You don't feel the pressure to
- 8:17perform anymore. You don't feel the pressure.
- 8:21You don't feel the pressure to fix.
- 8:24You don't feel pressure to be everything.
- 8:27You simply show up. And showing up consistently is
- 8:32what changes lives. Helping also deepens humility.
- 8:38When you walk with others through their struggles, you're
- 8:41constantly reminded of your dependence on grace.
- 8:45You don't have to stand above anybody.
- 8:48You stand beside them. And that posture protects you.
- 8:53It keeps you grounded. It keeps you honest.
- 8:57It keeps you teachable. And honesty keeps you free.
- 9:02That is why God calls people out of hiding.
- 9:06Not to expose them, but to equip them, not to evaluate them, not
- 9:13to elevate them, but to position them.
- 9:15Or grace can flow through them. Your story becomes less about
- 9:21what you've survived and more about what God is doing through
- 9:25it. And that is the shift from
- 9:30protecting yourself to offering yourself, from silence to
- 9:35service, from hiding to helping. That doesn't mean that every
- 9:42season looks the same. There will be times of rest.
- 9:47There will be times of quiet. There will be times where you
- 9:51need to pull back and tend to your own soul.
- 9:56Helping does not mean constant output, it means availability.
- 10:02Availability to God, availability to others.
- 10:07And that availability is where purpose lives.
- 10:12When we close, as we close out this series, I want you to pause
- 10:19and reflect honestly. Where are you right now?
- 10:23Are you still hiding? Are you wrestling with
- 10:27perfection? Are you standing at the edge of
- 10:31courage? Or are you beginning to see how
- 10:35God might want to use you through what you've lived?
- 10:42There's no judgment in any of those places, but there is
- 10:46invitation. God is patient.
- 10:50He doesn't rush the process. He walks with you and wherever
- 10:56you are, the next step is always the same.
- 11:02Honesty, obedience and trust. That is how the journey
- 11:10continues. As we close now this final
- 11:17episode of the miniseries, here is what I want you to hear
- 11:22clearly. Your story is not a liability.
- 11:28Your past is not a disqualifier. Your honesty is not a weakness.
- 11:37God is. God is not asking you to forget
- 11:41what you've been through, He's asking you to trust Him with it.
- 11:48Helping doesn't require perfection, it requires
- 11:52presence. And presence changes lives.
- 11:58Thank you for walking with me through this miniseries.
- 12:02My hope is that wherever you are, whether you're hiding,
- 12:06healing, or helping, that you've been reminded that freedom is
- 12:11possible, courage is worth it, and your story matters more than
- 12:18you think. Until next time, remember this.
- 12:21What you once hid, God can use, and what He uses, He redeems.
- 12:28His grace is greater than your past, and the real freedom
- 12:33begins the moment you choose to live unmasked.
- 12:38God bless you.
