The best version of one of my songs arrived on the twenty-fourth of August with no return address. There is a shared shelf my computers sync finished tracks onto, and sitting on it that morning was a cut of a song called loner, the cut I liked best, the one with the kickless break in the middle and one fewer pass in the back half, uploaded at 7:23 that morning by a machine I could not identify.
