- 0:01Speaker 1: Fauci plus day one does takeaway is how does that resonate?
- 0:06Speaker 1: It's We've had we slept on it, we thought about it,
- 0:09Speaker 1: we've seen the clips. How did that go?
- 0:11Speaker 2: Tracy said this morning, she goes, I'm still enjoying my
- 0:14Speaker 2: Fauci hangover. You and I talked about this on the
- 0:18Speaker 2: podcast yesterday that it was oddly satisfying even though he
- 0:21Speaker 2: pled the fifth one hundred and eleven times.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, but.
- 0:28Speaker 2: To hear him just get chewed out, and I want
- 0:31Speaker 2: to talk about the nature of the chewing out with
- 0:34Speaker 2: you for just a moment, because Bernie Marino went blue
- 0:38Speaker 2: big time. Yeah, basically, well literally saying, what the f
- 0:42Speaker 2: were you thinking when a woman was kicked out of
- 0:46Speaker 2: a football game somewhere? I remember the ridiculousness of arresting
- 0:51Speaker 2: people for seeing on a beach somewhere alone. You know,
- 0:54Speaker 2: all that craziness the week encountered Ashley Evedo Kimo, by
- 0:59Speaker 2: the way, wrote a great piece at town Hall about
- 1:02Speaker 2: what what COVID did to us and how we could
- 1:05Speaker 2: never ever repeat this and what Fauci's role probably was
- 1:09Speaker 2: in all of it. But Josephine Walker over at Axios
- 1:12Speaker 2: writes a column today about how political profanity is having
- 1:17Speaker 2: an effing moment.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Is the headline it's it's it's it's an interesting point.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Trump the other day about Iran. We're going to beat.
- 1:25Speaker 3: The the bomb the s out of them.
- 1:28Speaker 1: The fing s out of them, not just the s.
- 1:31Speaker 1: But the was a modifier, was there?
- 1:34Speaker 3: So? G I mean?
- 1:36Speaker 2: And but the article says, and I think it's a
- 1:39Speaker 2: good analysis politicians are using Bernie Marino didn't do that accidentally.
- 1:45Speaker 2: He was in control. He wanted to say that he screwed.
- 1:49Speaker 2: He actually posted it, I think, either before or after.
- 1:51Speaker 2: So that was a talking point to say, what the
- 1:54Speaker 2: f were you thinking of? And the shift suggests, according
- 1:58Speaker 2: to this Axios piece, that pop politicians are using profanity
- 2:02Speaker 2: intentionally to project authenticity.
- 2:05Speaker 1: There's the word. I knew that word was coming, and
- 2:07Speaker 1: it does this dozens of people. Okay, not if it's
- 2:12Speaker 1: used in an artificial Yeah, well that's intentional.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Well wait a minute. You just agreed with me that
- 2:18Speaker 2: Bernie Marino do that intentionally. He sort of it did,
- 2:21Speaker 2: so it's not authentic.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Well, sure it is. It wasn't extemporaneous, it wasn't spur
- 2:27Speaker 1: of the moment, but he meant it, he planned to
- 2:30Speaker 1: say it, and I know, ten minutes ago I said,
- 2:33Speaker 1: it's not my favorite thing. You know, hey, kids, let's
- 2:35Speaker 1: watch the hearing. Probably not a lot of eleven year
- 2:37Speaker 1: olds watching this thing, but it's like, not my favorite thing. Still,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I believe in some semblance of decorum. But at the
- 2:45Speaker 1: same time, it did get covered fifty three times, and
- 2:49Speaker 1: there were people, i'm sure in America who said, heck.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Yeah, that's exactly what I'd say.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Who the do you think you are? There is something
- 2:56Speaker 1: that resonates with people, so I kind of get it.
- 2:59Speaker 2: But authenticity, I disagree with you when you say it
- 3:03Speaker 2: was an extemporaneous I think the nature of profanity is
- 3:06Speaker 2: extemporaneous history. You hit your thumb with a hammer and
- 3:12Speaker 2: you say, oh blank, You don't you don't say, I'm
- 3:16Speaker 2: what are we gonna blanking have for dinner tonight? And
- 3:18Speaker 2: I don't know? And I'm and I'm not. I'm way
- 3:21Speaker 2: more off the fence than you are. I don't like
- 3:24Speaker 2: this at all. I think it coursens the culture. I
- 3:27Speaker 2: think it teaches kids to just talk like like like
- 3:30Speaker 2: you know, junkyard dogs. It's a problem and it's wrong.
- 3:35Speaker 2: It's just all And it also, frankly, demeans the office
- 3:39Speaker 2: that the person holds.
- 3:40Speaker 1: You want to us so Bernie Bernie Marino is one thing,
- 3:43Speaker 1: and we love Trump. Let us stipulate how much we
- 3:45Speaker 1: love Trump. Would you lovingly go to the President and say,
- 3:47Speaker 1: mister President, could you back off of that as well?
- 3:49Speaker 2: I absolutely would. I think it demeans the office. He's
- 3:53Speaker 2: the president, Bernie Marino is the Senator. And look and
- 3:57Speaker 2: and and I think we're but they're doing I mean Democrats,
- 4:01Speaker 2: that was their big thing.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Remember a couple months ago, everything was f this f Trump.
- 4:04Speaker 1: They're terrible at it. They're just awful at it. So
- 4:11Speaker 1: you're saying we fake authenticity better than they do, much better.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I would agree, f BOMs.
- 4:18Speaker 2: So let's go back to Fauci for a moment. I
- 4:20Speaker 2: had a conversation with some friends of mine this morning.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Husband and wife at the kitchen table, arguing over whether
- 4:25Speaker 2: or not Fauci should go to jail. And the husband
- 4:28Speaker 2: doesn't think there's anything gained by Fauci going to jail.
- 4:32Speaker 2: The wife believes that Fauci did a lot of damage
- 4:34Speaker 2: to the United States, caused a lot of harm, led
- 4:38Speaker 2: a lot of people just a big and lied to
- 4:40Speaker 2: the American people. What's the value in sending eighty five
- 4:44Speaker 2: year old Tony Fauci to prison.
- 4:46Speaker 3: It's called doing the right thing.
- 4:48Speaker 1: It's called accountability, it's called consequences.
- 4:50Speaker 2: No matter what your age is, you're right, of course,
- 4:53Speaker 2: I tend to agree a free pay.
- 4:55Speaker 1: If the word gets out, then you could do horrible
- 4:57Speaker 1: things in your eighties exactly and get a get out
- 5:00Speaker 1: of jail free card.
- 5:01Speaker 3: That's not healthy exactly.
- 5:03Speaker 2: And then the final thought, I saw this post from
- 5:05Speaker 2: somebody online Chicago one ray.
- 5:08Speaker 3: I guess I follow him.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I don't know. I try to follow everybody. Hope you
- 5:10Speaker 2: follow me to at Gallagher's show. And by the way,

- 6:33Speaker 3: It takes here.
- 6:34Speaker 1: We go with the it is there, the eminem extra,
- 6:37Speaker 1: and it does indeed take you two, what is for
- 6:39Speaker 1: my money the best place to go. The YouTube channel
- 6:42Speaker 1: where you can live stream as we're doing it and
- 6:44Speaker 1: then go back and get past episodes obviously.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Is the best one.
- 6:48Speaker 1: But I don't know a lot of just get it.
- 6:53Speaker 2: A lot of people though, are doing audio only podcasts
- 6:56Speaker 2: right Apple and Spotify and everywhere else. I mean, I
- 6:59Speaker 2: don't know. I I think of people in their car,
- 7:01Speaker 2: they're not watching a video.
- 7:03Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know what's better.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I wonder, although I although I have said, I'm running
- 7:07Speaker 1: all kinds of things through my phone and just you know,
- 7:10Speaker 1: fire up the bluetooth. I've listened to countless YouTube videos
- 7:14Speaker 1: just driving around listening to them on the phone. I
- 7:19Speaker 1: listened to Mike Wallace way pre sixty minutes Mike Wallace
- 7:23Speaker 1: interviewing Rod Serling in nineteen sixty four. It was like
- 7:27Speaker 1: a thirty minute YouTube thing, and I just drove around
- 7:29Speaker 1: dot doo doo doo listening to that. It was great.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I'm those old interviews. I can get so hooked on those.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I saw an interview last night from like nineteen sixty
- 7:38Speaker 2: something or seventy something where somebody.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Smoking everybody's cigarettes, smoking cigarettes and in the fog of
- 7:44Speaker 1: cigarette smoke is just swirling around everything. Head these old
- 7:47Speaker 1: black and white interviews, it's all.
- 7:48Speaker 2: And interviewing Agnes Moorehead remember Dora, and she's she's in
- 7:56Speaker 2: her and Dora get up with the big crazy wig
- 7:59Speaker 2: and everything, the and the house dress. But she's a
- 8:02Speaker 2: very serious. That woman was like a serious Shakespearean actress.
- 8:06Speaker 2: And she's got kind of a like a haughty British accent.
- 8:09Speaker 2: And and I think it was affect affectation. I don't
- 8:12Speaker 2: think she really had a British accent in real life.
- 8:15Speaker 2: But she was very like I believe in my craft,
- 8:18Speaker 2: and I believe that when I bring to Indorra, I thought,
- 8:20Speaker 2: you're in Dora. I'm bewitched for crying out loud. You're
- 8:23Speaker 2: acting like you're you're playing in Macbeth.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Well it was, it was iconic. You finish up coincidence
- 8:30Speaker 1: for you good.
- 8:31Speaker 2: And it was a great exchange because the lady. The
- 8:33Speaker 2: lady even said, do you get to get into characters?
- 8:35Speaker 2: You just don't get into character. I know, and Dora,
- 8:38Speaker 2: I I practice. I know the night before when I
- 8:42Speaker 2: read the script. People have no respect for theater anymore.
- 8:46Speaker 2: She was like this, I guess this old grand grand
- 8:49Speaker 2: dom theater actress that got the sitcom role that paid
- 8:52Speaker 2: all the bills and more she was.
- 8:54Speaker 1: She was also what did I just invoke? Rod Serling
- 8:56Speaker 1: of Twilight Zone fame. She was also pre Bewitch. In
- 9:00Speaker 1: one of my absolute total favorite Twilight Zone episodes of
- 9:06Speaker 1: all time, she is a woman cowering in fear in
- 9:11Speaker 1: her home because she hears this odds up in her attic.
- 9:16Speaker 1: It almost sounds like little little note, almost sounds like
- 9:19Speaker 1: little speech, little like, oh my god, what And it's
- 9:22Speaker 1: just minutes upon minute of her just just scared to death.
- 9:27Speaker 1: She finally, I gotta climb up the attic stairs. I
- 9:30Speaker 1: gotta see what's going on in here, and she sees something.
- 9:35Speaker 1: You could see her recoil in fear. She picks up
- 9:37Speaker 1: a broom and just beats the holy stuffing out of
- 9:41Speaker 1: the thing she heard in her attic. Okay, camp camera
- 9:45Speaker 1: pans out, and the thing is just beat the holy
- 9:48Speaker 1: stuffing out of was a little tiny spacecraft that said
- 9:53Speaker 1: United States of America. Why was an American crew of
- 10:00Speaker 1: astronauts in her attic that somehow wound up on this
- 10:03Speaker 1: planet of the giants At agnes Morehead was a massive
- 10:06Speaker 1: one hundred foot space alien.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Oh she was the alien. Oh gosh, it.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Called called the Invaders. Great episode of twilight Zone.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Twilight Zone was so creepy and fun.
- 10:17Speaker 2: So my absolute favorite episode Bill Shatner on a plane
- 10:22Speaker 2: looking out the wind the wing and the creature was
- 10:25Speaker 2: out there bopping.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Around and which which they remade, which they refashioned.
- 10:29Speaker 1: In the What did Spielberg kept to do with the
- 10:31Speaker 1: Twilight Zone movie was him? I remember there was a
- 10:34Speaker 1: remake of John Liftgow made the Right, Right, made a
- 10:38Speaker 1: couple of episodes. Yeah, all right, So so back to
- 10:40Speaker 1: this point here that I was gonna I was gonna
- 10:42Speaker 1: make from Chicago one Ray uh like his post, and
- 10:46Speaker 1: it was fun to watch Josh Holly yell at Fauci,
- 10:50Speaker 1: and it was kind of satisfying to see, you know,
- 10:53Speaker 1: Rand Paul beat the snot out of him, and and
- 10:55Speaker 1: that and that grimace on his face and Founc holding
- 10:58Speaker 1: the paper in the opening statement and he shaking like
- 11:00Speaker 1: a leaf.
- 11:01Speaker 2: So it was a rough day for him. To be sure,
- 11:03Speaker 2: Chicago won. Ray writes, I'm probably in the minority here,
- 11:06Speaker 2: but I'd rather Josh Holly be as tough on John
- 11:09Speaker 2: Thune as he was with Doctor Evil yesterday. But instead
- 11:14Speaker 2: Josh Holly has held proform a sessions to help Thune
- 11:18Speaker 2: block Trump or Trump's recess appointments. Holly has not objected
- 11:23Speaker 2: to Thune's August recess. He hasn't joined that list.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Ted Cruz did, by the way, let everybody write.
- 11:28Speaker 2: He finally added to the list. Good better late than never, Ted,
- 11:33Speaker 2: good for you? And is this guy posted tough talk
- 11:37Speaker 2: is cheap. Let's see Josh Holly get tough with John
- 11:40Speaker 2: Thune until And I would argue that that getting Thune
- 11:44Speaker 2: in line is a lot more important than than yelling
- 11:47Speaker 2: at Anthony Fauci.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Sorry it is, I'm sorry it is.
- 11:51Speaker 1: No, don't don't be sorry, because it is. And you
- 11:55Speaker 1: can always take a moment of any politician giving somebody
- 11:59Speaker 1: the old what for, and you know, in a righteous
- 12:01Speaker 1: and defensible way, and and then take that and go okay, yeah,
- 12:05Speaker 1: but why didn't you do this over here?
- 12:07Speaker 3: And it's not like it's a bad point, it's a
- 12:09Speaker 3: very good. Good Lord, I'm looking up at the monitor
- 12:12Speaker 3: during our segment. You know, they do these programmatic ads
- 12:15Speaker 3: that get inserted sometimes on YouTube and all that Byron
- 12:19Speaker 3: Donald's felony arrest. He's got a lot to hide, arrested
- 12:23Speaker 3: for blah blah. But it was nasty. What's from from
- 12:27Speaker 3: an opponent? Because he's running for Florida governor? So is
- 12:29Speaker 3: it just.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Must it's probably being placed on on our our our
- 12:35Speaker 2: systems here in Florida.
- 12:36Speaker 3: But it's an ugly ad.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, well he speaking, Well, I don't know.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I guess I'll google that. Now here's stuff I don't understand.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I'm like unfrozen Caman lawyer about your your websites confuse me?
- 12:52Speaker 1: So you're what you're watching YouTube in Florida? Right, I'm
- 12:54Speaker 1: watching YouTube? And obviously ads can go in anywhere and
- 12:59Speaker 1: they can be any thing, which is why Texas consumers
- 13:03Speaker 1: the he that's might be my second favorite thing, least
- 13:07Speaker 1: favorite thing Texans. What the least favorite is the Tallarico ads.
- 13:11Speaker 1: So before you get your daily dose of Minem Extra,
- 13:14Speaker 1: you might have woke Opie looking at you from that
- 13:17Speaker 1: truck he rented to look authentic.
- 13:19Speaker 2: And yeah, they he rented the pickup. And understand Mike
- 13:22Speaker 2: and Mark have nothing to do with those programs. They
- 13:26Speaker 2: just put those things in. Look at it this way.
- 13:28Speaker 2: The more of those kinds of ads, the more people
- 13:30Speaker 2: are watching our show, So that's a that's kind of
- 13:33Speaker 2: a good It's a glass half glass half full, all right.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I love your Happy Thursday. See you on the podcast.
