- 0:06What's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:13Welcome to watching the Least Favorite Scary Movie, the
- 0:16podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly, and the
- 0:19absurd and all our favorite and least favorite.
- 0:22Scary movies because we believe every horror movie rightfully
- 0:24has its fan base. Even if we don't always get it.
- 0:26My name is Travis. My name is Jessie, and today we
- 0:29have a very special episode for everybody because we are talking
- 0:3320 Sixteen's Terrifier. But we also have a very special
- 0:37guest with us today. Yes, and we will introduce him
- 0:40shortly, but we wanted to. We go ahead and get some of our
- 0:44usual business out of the way. To that end, I'm going to go
- 0:48ahead and unplug our socials up top.
- 0:50So we don't forget at the end we've got a website.
- 0:53What's your least favorite scarymovie.com?
- 0:55Should be really easy. You know the name of our
- 0:57podcast, justadda.com. And there you go, we've got an
- 1:01Instagram least favorite scary movie podcast.
- 1:04Almost our name. Not quite, but easy enough.
- 1:07We've got our Twitter least fave pod.
- 1:10That severely reduced. But Twitter has like crazy
- 1:13character limits for your username.
- 1:16We have a TikTok and I will not ever ever tell any of you what
- 1:23our TikTok handle is. Don't you dare ask.
- 1:25Don't ask. How dare you?
- 1:27How? Dare you even imply I should
- 1:29tell you what our TikTok handle is?
- 1:32I do not have any other announcements today.
- 1:35OK, I'm gonna blast through the polls real quick.
- 1:39The poll this week was The zombie apocalypse Happens,
- 1:42You're in the Dawn of the Dead 2004 remake universe.
- 1:45Are you an Anna or are you a Dick like Steve everybody Dick.
- 1:49Like Steve, Jessie is a Dick. Like Steve, everybody except for
- 1:52one other person chose Anna. We had one person request to be
- 1:55Chips the dog. That's our friend Taylor.
- 1:58And Aquile Boobs wants to be the guy that is the organ player
- 2:01that tries on high heels. Listen, I respect the
- 2:06out-of-the-box thinking, but you're not following the rules.
- 2:10There's a formula, people. A very simple formula.
- 2:15I'm throwing that Randy logic at people right now.
- 2:18I think I've said that like three times in the past 12
- 2:20hours. You really have, actually.
- 2:22Yeah, I haven't kept count, but that sounds right.
- 2:24Yeah, if anybody is curious, that was Talia's squeaky toy at
- 2:28the beginning. Because I don't have a tricycle
- 2:31horn, no. And dog toy is the next best
- 2:35thing. Yeah, it works.
- 2:37I'm surprised Talia was OK with you borrowing her toy.
- 2:40She hasn't objected yet. I mean, she likes the movie.
- 2:43I think she wanted to participate.
- 2:46I think that's great. She wanted to contribute.
- 2:48Speaking of, we actually own this movie.
- 2:52On a still book, Blu-ray. Yes, we I got it as a it was a
- 2:56Valentine's Day gift, so lovingly as a Valentine's Day
- 2:58gift last year. And yes, it was very special.
- 3:00Yeah, and I got you the frame to go with the poster.
- 3:03Guess we have him right behind me.
- 3:04We have so many coins right behind me.
- 3:06Yeah, he's staring at you. It's fun.
- 3:08But if you do not have this, although I am gonna say it's
- 3:12really fun because at the home screen it makes a little honky
- 3:16sound. Yeah, yeah, it does that.
- 3:19But if you don't have that, nor do you want.
- 3:21That it's fine because this movie is fairly accessible.
- 3:25You can stream it on to be Plex, Voodoo or the Roku Channel, or
- 3:30you can rent it from YouTube or Google Play for a small fair
- 3:34fee. All right, so no excuse.
- 3:38It's free. You can watch it online.
- 3:40You should watch it online because it's a very entertaining
- 3:42movie. And let's go ahead and bang out
- 3:45the cast and crew here. So this was written and directed
- 3:48by Damian Lyon. They consented to be banged out.
- 3:52If you consent, please continue. If not, you know you don't have
- 3:57to get banged. It's OK.
- 3:59Thank you. So all right.
- 4:01Written and directed by Damian Lyon.
- 4:03He had previously. Created the art.
- 4:07The clown character? Yes, in several short thumbs.
- 4:09Yes, called terrifier and also all.
- 4:11How was Eve? Which was the?
- 4:139th circle The 9th circle Ooh, I haven't seen that.
- 4:16I need to watch out. But yeah, it's a character that
- 4:19was preexisting for a while now. They wanted to give him a
- 4:23feature film, so they did that with this one.
- 4:27He also does the special effects for this right here.
- 4:29He started out as a special effects guy.
- 4:31So it's kind of cool. It does.
- 4:33The effects are amazing in this movie.
- 4:35For what I assume is a fairly low budget film, is this bug
- 4:40Ted. This is bug Ted and OK, so
- 4:44first. I just want to say.
- 4:47I'm not trying to jump into the bug set, I'm just saying the
- 4:50special effects it's yeah for. Top tier for the budget?
- 4:55Yes, absolutely. So music is done by Paul Wiley.
- 4:59I think that this movie has a very effective score too.
- 5:02And yes, this is Bug Ted. I'm gonna bring this up.
- 5:06I think I have something I need to ask David while I have him
- 5:09here because there have been recent things about.
- 5:13Have you revealed that that's who our special guest is?
- 5:16No. Yes.
- 5:18Yeah. So I'm going to ask him about
- 5:19that. But supposedly online it's
- 5:22showing that the bug Ted is $35,000.
- 5:26Hot Nam, Yes. Very, very small bug, Ted.
- 5:29But yeah, we'll talk about that here in a little bit.
- 5:31And let's go ahead with the cast and crew or we already got the
- 5:34crew. Let's get the cast here.
- 5:36So we have Jenna Canal as Tara Hayes, Samantha scoffed as
- 5:41Vicki, Catherine Krikoran as Don, Matt McAllister as Mike the
- 5:46Exterminator, and introducing David Howard Thornton as Art the
- 5:51Clown. Hell yeah.
- 5:53And before we get into our interview, special guests, yes.
- 5:58So let's go ahead and drop our pre ratings here.
- 6:01Jesse, what do you got? Yes, I'm gonna save a lot of my
- 6:04thoughts for while we're talking to David, but I enjoy this
- 6:09movie. It's grimy, it's nasty, it's
- 6:11dirty. There are moments of it that I
- 6:13have to love critically, and I'm sure we will talk about that at
- 6:19some point during this, but overall, I think it's simple,
- 6:26but it's effective, yes. So I'm gonna give it AN88.
- 6:30All right, cool. This movie is one of my personal
- 6:33favorites. I am a whore for killer clowns,
- 6:37and you don't really get a lot of good killer clown movies
- 6:40these days and you don't really get a lot.
- 6:43Honestly, it's kind of weird. You feel like that would be a
- 6:46super popular subject for horror movies, but I don't know, maybe
- 6:50I'm just missing them. But when you do get them,
- 6:52they're usually pretty shitty. This one right here, it nails
- 6:55the look, it nails the creep factor, it nails the gore, the
- 6:58effects and everything is amazing.
- 7:00I I really like this movie. I think it is very light on the
- 7:03story, but I don't think it really needs the story.
- 7:06Not a lot of plot to get in the way of the story.
- 7:08No, there's not. But having said that, I think
- 7:11I'm gonna give this one A9. Nice.
- 7:13All right. So we're starting off with an
- 7:158.5. I'm curious to see how our
- 7:20discussion goes. All right.
- 7:21We're very excited to share people's reviews with David.
- 7:24Yes, we are. All right.
- 7:25So let's get right on into it. All right.
- 7:30We would like to welcome live and in person over the Internet,
- 7:35a very special guest, David Howard Thornton.
- 7:39David, thank you so much for being here with us today.
- 7:42Thank you. I don't know why I tried to wave
- 7:44at my computer right now and like you can't see me, so I do
- 7:48that all the time too. So I appreciate it.
- 7:50No, I'm getting to that age now. OK, so we we have a very, the
- 8:00way that we usually do this podcast is we usually kind of go
- 8:03through the events of things in the movie, like chronologically
- 8:07from start to finish. But I kind of figured this time
- 8:09we're just going to have like a chat in general, you know?
- 8:11Yeah. Cool.
- 8:12Sounds good to me. Yeah.
- 8:14I mean, it doesn't even have to strictly be terrified, you know,
- 8:16we just just happy to have you here to talk.
- 8:18We're. Terrified too.
- 8:20Yeah, we're terrified. What is that movie?
- 8:24I don't. When is that coming out?
- 8:27I don't know. So I guess we'll go ahead and
- 8:32we'll get the obvious questions out of the way.
- 8:35How did you come to be involved in Terrifier?
- 8:38I just looked upon an audition notice they had online, looking
- 8:42for a tall, skinny guy with a experience in physical comedy or
- 8:49clowning to play art. And I was like, this is perfect
- 8:51for me. So I convinced my agents to
- 8:55submit me for it and the rest was history.
- 8:57Nice. That's yeah, cuz that's
- 8:58something we like in advance. We watched some of the previous
- 9:02ones, like all How was Eve And the previous terrifier, short
- 9:05stuff like that. We definitely noticed the
- 9:07difference in the physicality between the previous arts
- 9:11interpretation and yours and your way.
- 9:14Like, I don't know, It's crazy how much acting you're doing
- 9:17without actually saying anything.
- 9:20Yeah, I I guess you could say I I learned from the best and just
- 9:24applied it and made it my own, you know, So I I, I grew up
- 9:27watching the great, you know, physical comedians of, you know,
- 9:30cinema from like the silent film era all the way up to, you know,
- 9:33like Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carrey and Doug Jones.
- 9:36So it's like I I applied a lot of that to my interpretation of
- 9:39art as well as I I was very fortunate for five years to
- 9:45understudy Stephan Karl from like he was Rob Rotten from
- 9:49Lacey Town. I I toured with him for five
- 9:52years on How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Musical.
- 9:55Oh, nice. Yeah.
- 9:56And and Stefan was, you know, professionally trained in
- 10:00clowning and physical comedy. And so, I mean, I I literally
- 10:03learned from the best in the business right there.
- 10:05As like as he was just amazing at what he did, he had a mastery
- 10:09over his body and really knew how to just add that extra oomph
- 10:13to a scene. And that's what I applied to
- 10:15arts because I had come straight from.
- 10:18Basically the year before I had finished that tour and I was
- 10:22like, you know, that was fresh in my mind.
- 10:24So I was like, yeah, let's apply a lot of what I learned from
- 10:26Stefan to art. It really comes through like I
- 10:31no shade at all to Matt Gianelli cuz I think he did really good
- 10:35as art in All Hallows Eve, but there's a definite almost like
- 10:40attention to the physicality that you put into your art.
- 10:44Yeah. Well, yeah.
- 10:45Well, Mike set like a very good foundation for me.
- 10:48And so I just built upon what he already laid the groundwork for.
- 10:52How did it? How did it feel having to take
- 10:54over that character? Cuz I think when Al hollows Eve,
- 10:57that was definitely the part of the movie that stood out.
- 11:01I know at least to us. And we watched it, so we were
- 11:03really hyped for terrifier. Yeah, it was very, very much a
- 11:08daunting task for me, cuz. I'm a fanboy myself of different
- 11:12genres and you know, things, you know, like Joker and stuff like
- 11:16that. So I I know how I am when a new
- 11:18actor comes in, taking over a role from somebody.
- 11:22And I can be I I keep saying I can be so judgmental.
- 11:26I can be nasty. I'm like, Oh no, that's all
- 11:29going to come back and bite me in the butt now.
- 11:31And so that that was my big fears.
- 11:33Like, Oh my gosh, how are the fans going to respond to my
- 11:35interpretation of art? I was very worried about that.
- 11:38So I wanted to keep true to what he had done but just make
- 11:42embellishments on what he had done.
- 11:44And but I I was definitely, definitely, you know, nervous.
- 11:49Have you ever been in contact with him?
- 11:51Have you guys talked about the role together?
- 11:53Yeah, yeah, We've chatted some online.
- 11:55We've actually still never met in person, and we live in the
- 11:58same city, which is so funny. Yeah, he's like one of Damien's
- 12:01best friends from childhood and we still have not met yet.
- 12:05I'm like, I keep on telling Damien we need to somehow put
- 12:08him into one of the future films, like some kind of cameo
- 12:12or something. That's so.
- 12:14Fun. Yeah, I would love that.
- 12:17Plus I would just love to sit down and chat with him and stuff
- 12:19like that in person. He became a dad recently, in the
- 12:24past year or so, during the pandemic, so that's so he's got
- 12:27new stuff going on in his life right now.
- 12:30Man, jealous. I feel like my life just kind of
- 12:33holds it with the pandemic. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:36It's like, wow. That's that's great for him.
- 12:39I I wanna have kids myself one day.
- 12:42I just haven't lucked out and find the right person to do that
- 12:45with yet, so. Speaking of the Joker and
- 12:49different people doing different characterizations, who is your
- 12:52favorite Joker? Mark Hamill by far yes.
- 12:56Yeah you can't you can't beat him.
- 13:00That's just like, Nah, that's that's no question no dumb like
- 13:04he and see Mark has had you know.
- 13:08Access to that character for almost 30 years now.
- 13:11So he has spent all this time continuing to evolve the
- 13:15character and find new nuances with him and he and he keeps on
- 13:19just impressing me with his performances with them.
- 13:22It's like, it's always fun to go back and watch the like the
- 13:25first episodes of Batman The Animated Series and hear the
- 13:28difference between his voice then versus what he does with
- 13:31the voice now. It's just it's night and day.
- 13:36In some ways it's like he almost sounds normal is the in the
- 13:38first few episodes and he'd see him continually evolve the
- 13:42character, especially in the Arkham games.
- 13:44He really took it to a new life. Oh, yes, yeah.
- 13:46Yeah. It's always.
- 13:47It blows my mind anytime I hear like I find out that that's him
- 13:51because it sounds so different from its normal voice.
- 13:53It does. It does.
- 13:55Especially like the version he does now, as opposed to like
- 13:58what he was doing back then all. Right.
- 14:01Cool. You passed the test.
- 14:02You picked the correct joker. Yeah, you've done voice work
- 14:07too, right? Yes, yes, yes, oddly enough for
- 14:11a lot of little shows, for the little ones, which is really
- 14:16funny. The opposite end of the
- 14:18spectrum, career wise for me. Yeah, you cover a full range of
- 14:23very adult. Silent acting and you go to the
- 14:29other range of child friendly voice acting.
- 14:33Yeah, and usually like animals and stuff like that.
- 14:36I'm kind of like like Frank Welker, who does all those
- 14:39animal sounds for most everything.
- 14:43For years, like decades, Frank has been doing that kind of.
- 14:46He was always a big influence on me, cuz I just love what he
- 14:49does. I mean, of course, he's really
- 14:52known for Fred from scooby-doo. I mean, he was like.
- 14:54Abu and Aladdin, Dr. Claw, you name it, He did it, basically.
- 14:59Yeah, nice. He's just he's such a talented
- 15:03voice actor. I don't realize Fred and Abu
- 15:05were the same voice actor. Yeah, same.
- 15:07That's blowing my mind right now.
- 15:09Yeah, he was also the voice of Megatron Dan, dude, That's.
- 15:13Farmers. Yeah, That's a really good
- 15:15filmography right there. Yeah.
- 15:16Dude, you need an IMDb Frank Welker.
- 15:19I mean, like the man's resume is like a mile long and it's your
- 15:25whole entire childhood. Wow.
- 15:26All right, I'm gonna do that. I'll fall down an IMDb rabbit
- 15:30hole. So I'm gonna have to do that
- 15:31after we're done here. So you.
- 15:33Will be blown away. So like, did you ever have like
- 15:39any intentions on getting into horror whenever you were acting?
- 15:42Because like that. I mean, it seems like you've run
- 15:45away with it at this point. I kind of, I see people like
- 15:49they're casting you in all their other horror related projects.
- 15:51You know, that kind of happens whenever you have a big
- 15:53character in the genre, so. No, that was never my goal.
- 15:58I I my whole entire life. I always did comedy and musical
- 16:04theater, so that was my focus. It's like doing stuff with
- 16:07voice, silly voices or like being the song and dance guy.
- 16:11So because I was, I was trying to be honest with myself when it
- 16:14came to horror, I was like, you know, I I I don't have the body
- 16:17type. To really do horror, unless I'm
- 16:20a victim, I'm like the Randy type of character.
- 16:24I'm not usually, you wouldn't really think of me as like the
- 16:29horror iconic killer. So I was like, wow, So yeah, I
- 16:33never, you know, I would, you know, I had always wanted to
- 16:36play a character like that. I thought that would be
- 16:37incredible to play something like Freddy Krueger or something
- 16:39like that. But I was like, ah, it's there
- 16:41very, very slim, you know? So no, that was never my focus.
- 16:45I am. When I first moved to New York,
- 16:47I was really focused on trying to get on Broadway and doing
- 16:50animation work. Oh, nice.
- 16:52Like, actually, Terrifier was my first real film too.
- 16:55So I had done some extra work, you know, here or there, but
- 17:00never anything substantial. So I mean, this was a real foot
- 17:05in the door for me. I guess you could say it's kind
- 17:07of crazy how that happens, like the horror life chose you.
- 17:10Yeah. Yeah, I I did a lot of learning
- 17:14real quick on set about both just film in general and also
- 17:17horror. I mean, I was a horror fan, but
- 17:19you know, still there's a lot to learn.
- 17:21Did you take any like influence from any characters necessarily
- 17:25whenever you were doing this? Oh yeah, definitely.
- 17:27I mean, if, you know, I I kind of looked at art as being like a
- 17:32fanboy of all the slasher icons that came before him.
- 17:35So there's little bits and pieces of every single.
- 17:38Killer like from Freddy. Jason Chucky.
- 17:42Pinhead, leather face. Hannibal Lecter.
- 17:46There's Jigsaw. All that inside of art.
- 17:49I can definitely see the Freddy influence.
- 17:53That's kind of sense of humor there, which I guess really
- 17:56makes sense given that you. Really.
- 17:58We're starting out in comedy? Yeah.
- 18:02Obviously the Hannibal Lecter piece, we get there too.
- 18:06And the Jigsaw. I can see a lot of those
- 18:08influences. Just very calculating.
- 18:10Yeah. Terrifying and smart at the same
- 18:14time. Yes.
- 18:15Yeah, but he's also a little. He bumbles around some, too,
- 18:20which I love about him. That's kind of like a common
- 18:22thing with like the slasher, yeah, villain type thing.
- 18:25I don't know, especially Ghostface.
- 18:27Like you see that, like people like, yeah, notorious for
- 18:29stumbling around all the time, you know?
- 18:30Yeah, no, I think it kind of makes them more relatable too.
- 18:33It makes them more human in some ways, where it's like, yeah,
- 18:36they're not just perfect killing machines, they have their flaws
- 18:40too. But I think that makes it far
- 18:42more entertaining. That was something that Jesse
- 18:45kind of like was talking about last night.
- 18:47Like the like, she wanted to know if you had like some kind
- 18:51of background in mind for the character, like whenever you
- 18:53were doing that. So it's.
- 18:55Kind of cool. So many, so many people I was
- 18:57pulling from. I I mean, I I basically, in my
- 19:00head looked at him as being the bastard child of Freddy Krueger
- 19:03and Harper Marks. All right.
- 19:05I would also say he's kind of like an evil version of Mr.
- 19:08Bean. That was a good influence, Mr.
- 19:09Bean. Yeah, I.
- 19:11Love that, yeah, cuz he has that very child.
- 19:14Mischievous type of nature to him like that too, but he's a
- 19:18lot more vicious than Mr. Bean ever would be.
- 19:21You know, that's not not the comparison I would have come up
- 19:25with, but now that you've said it, I can totally see it.
- 19:28Yeah, it's gonna you totally see it, Yeah.
- 19:32So what about? There's kind of a supernatural
- 19:35element to art, too. Definitely, definitely.
- 19:37So I'm yeah. Is there more coming to that in
- 19:41future movies, or is it just gonna be left kind of
- 19:43unexplained? No.
- 19:44No, no, we fully embrace that in Part 2.
- 19:49I mean, I don't want you to think he's gonna be just like
- 19:51teleporting and levitating things and stuff like that.
- 19:54No, no, no. We still try to keep it grounded
- 19:56in reality in that way. But it's like, but you know,
- 20:00Damien figure, you know is like with.
- 20:02With slasher icons, you always have to kill them off.
- 20:06At some point. The good guy has to win somehow
- 20:09or something like that, but you have to find a way to bring them
- 20:11back. And it's always a lot of films
- 20:14try to hem and haul around the whole supernatural aspect of it,
- 20:18but we're like, let's go ahead and just fully embrace that.
- 20:21So that's what we did when we added that scene of the corner
- 20:24scene. And then Terrifier was just
- 20:26like, Okay, Yeah, we're just gonna go ahead and embrace it.
- 20:29There is something more going on here than MCI with this
- 20:32character. And so, and we go with that
- 20:36whole idea in Part 2. Okay.
- 20:39Yeah, I love that decision too, because it's a pretty creepy
- 20:42scene, honestly. I like the.
- 20:45It's kind of a total power move to just normally, like you said,
- 20:50the killer gets killed off by the good guys in some way, shape
- 20:54or form. But art just kind of takes
- 20:56himself out and it Art is art. Was he aware of his own
- 21:01supernatural nature in that moment, or was it just kind of a
- 21:07I don't have my own terms. We we might explore more in the
- 21:11future films in a way. I don't really necessarily think
- 21:14that he knew he would come back from that.
- 21:18I I see that as him just taking the power away from everybody
- 21:22else and be like how you you think you've got me.
- 21:24Fuck you. I'm gonna do it myself, not give
- 21:26you the satisfaction of stopping me, but it is like I kind of
- 21:31look like he might be a little bit surprised to be back from
- 21:34the dead, but I think that's gonna add a little extra
- 21:36confidence to him and cockiness. Like, he needs more of that.
- 21:40Yeah, exactly. He's like, wow, wow, I can't be
- 21:43killed. This is great.
- 21:45I think that will enable him to take more risks in the future.
- 21:48He's just like, wow, OK, I can be a little bit more gutsy with
- 21:52what I'm doing now. I think that's one of the things
- 21:54I really like about the character as well is that he's
- 21:57very much. A wild card doesn't really have
- 22:02a set mo, because the movie starts off all of these really
- 22:05elaborate kills. We've got Steve and the pizza
- 22:08place, the whole Jack O Lantern face.
- 22:12We've got Dawn and her infamous scene, so all of these elaborate
- 22:17setups, and then Tara just gets shot in the head.
- 22:20Yeah, she just gets shot. Yeah, it feels so.
- 22:23Atlantic, yeah. I love how overkill that scene
- 22:26is too. It's just like pop, pop, pop.
- 22:29Oh yeah, that's. I remember like there was a
- 22:31controversy around that scene because people like, Oh no,
- 22:33that's breaking the slasher code.
- 22:35You shouldn't be using the gun, which is totally untrue.
- 22:38Guns have been used in so many slashers, especially like the
- 22:40screen franchise and the Child's Play franchise.
- 22:44Yeah, yeah, but it's like, but he didn't just use a gun.
- 22:49He used a gun like a slasher would use a gun.
- 22:51Yes. Yeah.
- 22:52It wasn't just a simple headshot.
- 22:54And that's it. I mean, he first used it just to
- 22:56maim her and to incapacitate her and then he comes back and just
- 23:01unloads on her and disfigures her.
- 23:03Yeah, I think the way that that scene really like what makes it
- 23:07so great is like, you don't expect that usually whenever the
- 23:10gun comes out in the splash of movies, especially Scream is
- 23:12whenever they're all in masks at the end and like.
- 23:15I don't know. Stakes are kind of different, I
- 23:16guess, but this one right here, like, you just don't expect it.
- 23:19And then it's just so crazy. Oh yeah, I love that moment.
- 23:24Yeah, it's not just a big turn for art, but it's a big turn for
- 23:27them. Maybe as a whole.
- 23:28Because up until this point, we've been following Tara and
- 23:31have assumed that she's the final girl.
- 23:33Oh yeah, we pulled a psycho on everybody there.
- 23:35I. Love that too.
- 23:36That's so great. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:38That was definitely a nod to Psycho right there.
- 23:40Because it's like, yeah, that make everybody think this is the
- 23:42final girl and then boom, Nope. We knew that was definitely
- 23:48gonna cause a reaction with people, both that killing her
- 23:51off and just the fact that he pulls out a gun out of nowhere
- 23:54and it's like that's no one was expecting that.
- 23:57Yeah, and I know a lot of people got kind of upset about that,
- 24:00just feeling like it. There was no set mo for him, but
- 24:04I think there's been plenty of iconic.
- 24:07Like movie killers that don't necessarily have, and we've had
- 24:11this whole discussion when we covered the Friday the 13th
- 24:14franchise. Everybody wants to attribute
- 24:16Jason to his machete, but Jason uses whatever's there and is
- 24:20convenient. The machete like not even a
- 24:23consistent weapon for him. It just somehow became iconic
- 24:28and I think that's kind of. What makes art scary is that
- 24:33it's weapons of convenience. But also, there's the
- 24:36theatricality of it, too. Yeah, see, that's the thing.
- 24:40It's like people don't think he has an MO.
- 24:42I mean, the homeless cat lady in the film actually sums up his MO
- 24:49perfectly, I thought. Or she's like, he just does this
- 24:51because he thinks it's funny. Yeah, my God.
- 24:56Got unduly upset at him stealing Emily.
- 24:59When we rewatched it last night, like, I was like, it's a doll.
- 25:02But I feel so bad for her because she's like, yeah, I
- 25:05mean, truly, you know, stick in some way, shape or form and
- 25:10she's just completely torn up. And just seeing him fuck with
- 25:14her like that before scalping her, well, that's the thing.
- 25:18He knows what, you know, motivates other people, what
- 25:21drives people. And he he uses that to lure his
- 25:24victims in. And that's what I thought was
- 25:26brilliant about that scene. It's just like he he knew that
- 25:30she had that motherly side to her and he used that to his
- 25:34advantage to like, bring her in for an easy kill.
- 25:38It's fucked up. It's very, it's very fucked up.
- 25:42It's just like, yeah, it's just like that's.
- 25:58Yeah. I love that scene.
- 25:46I love that there's so much you could read into that scene and
- 25:49so there could be so many red herrings even with that scene,
- 25:52because people are like, my gosh was he abused and blah, blah,
- 25:55blah, all that. It's like, Nah, he was just
- 25:57fucking with. I almost picture art as like, a
- 25:59pod person. Like he just popped into
- 26:01existence. Yeah, right.
- 26:03Yeah, which I think is in itself scary enough.
- 26:06Just like he's not doing this out of revenge or anything like
- 26:11that. He's just doing that because he
- 26:13enjoys it and that's to me scarier than anything else.
- 26:23And bringing misery to people. It's like he doesn't.
- 26:19That's what he's motivated for is he just has a lust for
- 26:22killing and. He's the anti clown because
- 26:27clowns are supposed to bring happiness and joy to other
- 26:30people and he does the opposite for his own amusement and not
- 26:35the amusement of others. Yeah, it's very much like
- 26:38Halloween, like the original Michael Myers where they don't
- 26:41give him that motivation with. Yeah, like the sister thing.
- 26:43It's just like he just stalks and kills because that's just
- 26:46what he does. Yeah, that's what makes it so
- 26:48creepy. It's very, very effective.
- 26:49I love it. So there was one thing I wanted
- 26:51to ask you about. I saw recently that you guys,
- 26:55you and Damian had, like, discrepancy online with the
- 27:00budget of the movie. Like it looked like it had been
- 27:02inflated by other people. Oh yeah, yeah, that was
- 27:06ridiculous. What was the number that people
- 27:08I thought was like, it looked like it was over $100,000,
- 27:11right. That they said that you guys had
- 27:12for this thing? Yeah.
- 27:14Yeah. Which is totally not true at
- 27:15all. I'm like, I I don't know the
- 27:17exact figure, but I know we made it for less than $50,000.
- 27:21The IMDb, which we always know, that's kind of bullshit.
- 27:23It kind of speculates 35,000, which that sounds about right, I
- 27:27guess. I don't know.
- 27:28Like yeah, that's that's yeah, that's what I think one of our
- 27:32people on the production side actually put on IMDb to clarify
- 27:36that because of that cuz I think over inflating our budget does a
- 27:41disservice to the the work that the whole entire team put into
- 27:44this. I'm showing that we can make a
- 27:46movie like this off of a very, very small budget is is it's, I
- 27:52mean this I mean we made it for less than what they made the
- 27:55original Texas Chainsaw Massacre back in the early 70s.
- 28:00That's counting inflation. You know, this is like, yeah,
- 28:04that's not even counting inflation because they made
- 28:06that. We've made it still for less
- 28:07than what they made back then. And a lot of those movies back
- 28:10then were like, way more simple, too.
- 28:12This one had so many effects and you see so much stuff on screen
- 28:15it's impressive. Well, and that was actually, you
- 28:18know, we talked about this before before we got you hopped
- 28:24on here, David. We were talking about the
- 28:27special effects and people classing this maybe as.
- 28:32Part of the torture porn subgenre, which we kind of
- 28:37disagree with. Absolutely disagree with I don't
- 28:39think it's torture porn at all. And that was one of the movies
- 28:42that came to mind for me was Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
- 28:45Is that people misremember how much is actually on screen in
- 28:50terms of the kills. Yeah, yeah.
- 28:53You don't really see blood in Texas Chainsaw Massacre that
- 28:56much. Yeah, but everybody's just
- 28:58convinced themselves they've seen, like, the nastiest
- 29:01gorgeous movie out. Because everything else about
- 29:04that movie is Nest. Yeah.
- 29:06Well, that's kind of how I feel about this, though.
- 29:08Is that like when we were rewatching it last night?
- 29:10I was like. I remember some of these kills
- 29:13as being much more explicit than they were.
- 29:15Now. Granted, we do see the bodies
- 29:17after the fact and they are very nasty and gory and the effects
- 29:20are amazing. Yeah, I mean, there are some
- 29:23very gory moments and it's like the stabbing of the pizza guy
- 29:26and obviously the most famous scene of the whole movie.
- 29:29Like, it definitely goes there and it shows it on screen.
- 29:32But yeah, some of it's a little bit restricted.
- 29:35Yeah, it's it's like, you know, I wouldn't necessarily call our
- 29:38films torture porn per se. They do have torture elements to
- 29:41them, but we're not trying to be torture porn.
- 29:44There is a difference there. I look at other films maybe like
- 29:50hostile and stuff like that being more like torture porn.
- 29:53Yeah, But yeah, I mean, I will say there is a kill in Part 2
- 30:00that people will definitely be saying, oh God, that is torture
- 30:02born. That is horrible.
- 30:06Oh my gosh. But it's like, but the whole
- 30:08film isn't that way. It's just one kill that's like
- 30:10that. And it's just like, yeah, that's
- 30:12not the whole focus. There's other elements to this
- 30:14as well. We're I kind of like, look at
- 30:17this. It's like we're a blend of
- 30:19different slasher genres. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:21I can see that. Definitely.
- 30:23Like, I mean like that scene where he has her tied down in
- 30:27the basement and then like he has the other girl upside down,
- 30:30you know, everything happens. I mean, he doesn't necessarily
- 30:34torture Dawn, but, you know, I don't really know what the
- 30:36intention. OK, we don't know how long she
- 30:38was hanging upside down. That's a good point.
- 30:40Yeah. Probably not too long since she
- 30:43still was conscious. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:45Human being can't hang upside down for too long before they
- 30:48lose consciousness. So.
- 30:50Speaking of that, I've noticed a lot of people have been into
- 30:53doing like recreating that at conventions with you.
- 30:56How do you feel about having people do that?
- 30:58That's pretty cool. I love it.
- 31:00I love it when people, when we're doing the photo OPS, they
- 31:02come in with their own ideas and have different things in mind
- 31:05that they wanna do. Cuz I mean I myself, I try to
- 31:08keep things fresh and I like to do different ideas with people,
- 31:13but I love it when other people have ideas too, cuz I don't want
- 31:16to be that guy that just takes the same photo with every single
- 31:19person. Just like just pointing the
- 31:20finger at the other guy. Hey, it's that guy.
- 31:22Type of photo that just seems so impersonal and just boring to
- 31:28me. That's fun.
- 31:31We went to our first convention in October and those were
- 31:37definitely fun moments where we actually Felisa Rose when we saw
- 31:41her, we were. Yeah, We were in Casey Becker in
- 31:45Ghostface Cosplay, and she was like, you're gonna get a
- 31:47picture. And I was like, yeah, but can
- 31:49you be stabbing me? And she was like, of course.
- 31:51So we kind of blended our movies together.
- 31:54That's great. That's Felisa too, for you.
- 31:56She I God, I just adore her. Yeah, she's she's in.
- 32:01Terrified too. Too, right?
- 32:03Yes. Yes.
- 32:04Yeah. She has a small little role in
- 32:06there, so it's fun. It's a fun role for her.
- 32:09She's hilarious. Yeah, we were talking about
- 32:11that. That must have been cuz
- 32:13everything we've seen of you online, all of our interactions
- 32:16with you on Instagram and then obviously talking to you now for
- 32:20the past half hour between you and Felissa Rose.
- 32:23It must just have been such a wholesome set.
- 32:25Yeah, you know it. It was just like visiting Mr.
- 32:29Rogers neighborhood. Yeah, it's like we we had fun on
- 32:34set. That's is we had to because like
- 32:37a lot of the the environments we're shooting in in the middle
- 32:41of winter, I will say we're not the most fun places to film in
- 32:45miserable conditions. It's like that's how we had to
- 32:48keep our sanity because we're on set for like 12 plus hours a day
- 32:52in this miserable environment. So we we we had to keep the
- 32:57laughter going just to keep our sanity.
- 32:59And it wasn't just me. It was like other crew members,
- 33:01especially Jason Levy. He's one of the Fuzzle and Linz
- 33:04guys. He was one of the cops in the
- 33:05first one. He's the bald headed cop and
- 33:07it's like yeah, at one point it was one night where I think it's
- 33:11like day three or four after consecutive days of us just
- 33:14being there forever and it was cold and miserable.
- 33:18We're all the morale was down. He just comes out of the
- 33:21dressing room dressed in Lauren Laverra's Sienna Valkyrie
- 33:26costume and it was just like oh God no, Oh my God, no.
- 33:34But it was so funny because it's like especially when you know
- 33:37Jason it was just like the funniest thing to see him do
- 33:39that And it was like and he did that just to get morale up on
- 33:43set is like we're all doing that kind of stuff.
- 33:46It's like I'm always trying to crack jokes and stuff like that
- 33:48myself, just to keep things light.
- 33:51Because I know, especially for my costars, they're doing some
- 33:54heavy work there with very emotional, complex scenes and
- 33:59which can be draining. And if you're doing that for
- 34:02days and days and days and days over and over again, it's gonna
- 34:07affect you in a negative manner. And so I try to do something
- 34:11just to break them out of that funk.
- 34:14How do you handle the emotional switch between?
- 34:19Filming and then breaks between filming cuz we've seen behind
- 34:23the scenes stuff and you like you said, you are joking around
- 34:27and having fun with everybody. How do you handle that mentality
- 34:32of switching back and forth? That's easy for me.
- 34:35That's how I've always been as an actor.
- 34:36It's just like I I've always been able to switch it on,
- 34:39switch it off and you know, I might take a few seconds there
- 34:42just to get my head in the game again, but that's about it.
- 34:44It's like I can easily go in and out of character.
- 34:47I don't have to do any of that. You know, method acting is a lot
- 34:50of people, not a lot of people. But you know, some actors do or
- 34:53they have to live as the character for a while and they
- 34:55distance themselves from everybody and all that.
- 34:57I'm like, Nah, Nah, I don't. I can just turn him, turn him on
- 35:01and off. It will.
- 35:02And so it it doesn't affect me mentally because you know, it's
- 35:05it's acting. I I I feel like I'm just doing
- 35:08as I did as a kid when I was playing pretend and I was just
- 35:11like yeah, I'm just pertaining to be this vicious serial killer
- 35:14right now. So hey hey step step, step, step
- 35:17Okay back to myself. I can only imagine how scary
- 35:22that would be though, if you had to live in that head space for a
- 35:25little bit to get into character.
- 35:26I think everybody on set would hate me.
- 35:30They would all hate me. They would just that would have
- 35:34been so miserable for everybody. I mean, granted, I like to
- 35:38sometimes creep around and scare people though, because Lauren
- 35:42especially is actually afraid of clowns in some ways.
- 35:46And so, yeah, and I was playing a dangerous game because, I mean
- 35:49she, she has different, you know, she's trained very, very
- 35:53different, many different forms of martial arts.
- 35:55So. So I was, I was, I was risking
- 35:59my life, I think at times. And I would just like just sneak
- 36:01up behind her while she's just conversing with someone and just
- 36:04stand there and make a face at her.
- 36:06And so, like, when she turned around, I'm like, right in her
- 36:08face. And she would just but gotcha.
- 36:13I'm surprised she never just took me out with a kick.
- 36:17I'm glad she didn't. I can only imagine, like,
- 36:22especially at cons because we went like, like we said, we went
- 36:25to our first one, but we saw a lot of people dressed as art.
- 36:28Like if you, like, walked around the con fully in your makeup and
- 36:33costume and you're just like actually putting on a show for.
- 36:35Have you ever done anything like that?
- 36:37Like I feel like that would be more fun.
- 36:39I I love to do that any anytime I I do my photo OPS at the
- 36:42conventions. I stay in character.
- 36:44I I don't talk or anything like that.
- 36:46I I want to give people the art experience so even when I'm
- 36:48walking around the floor I I interact with people and mess
- 36:52around and I love it. It's fun for me.
- 36:53I like this. This past weekend, some guy made
- 36:57some, you know, joke about me being, you know, a clown or
- 37:00something about my horn or something like that.
- 37:02And I just turned around and stared him down and started
- 37:05making fun of him right there in front of everybody.
- 37:07And everybody was just eating it off.
- 37:09It was it was great. I that's amazing, but also is
- 37:13kind of creeping me out picturing it.
- 37:16I'm one of those though that like I'm terrible about staying
- 37:20in character whenever I'm dressed up.
- 37:22And I mean, obviously I'm not an actor, so it's probably good,
- 37:28but like, you know, going to things like conventions or like
- 37:31Kings Island does their fright nights, I.
- 37:35I get really thrown off really easily by people never breaking
- 37:39character, and I hate it. So yeah, I can understand that.
- 37:46But it's like, I think my version of not breaking
- 37:49character is a little bit more entertaining than just like a
- 37:51guy dressed as Mike Myers just standing there and staring at
- 37:54you the whole entire time. Yeah, that could be very
- 37:56unnerving. I saw a guy down at Spooky
- 37:59Empire and he was dressing Mike and the whole entire time he was
- 38:02on the floor he was fully in character.
- 38:04I I remember just one part because they had a it was two
- 38:07floors that they had and so they had this like a balcony area
- 38:12going over the on the 2nd floor. And I look up and I just see him
- 38:16just standing there staring down at the floor at everybody and he
- 38:20was there forever just doing that.
- 38:23And I was like, God, that is the most unnerving thing.
- 38:26I was like, that is just dude, I'm.
- 38:31Trying to imagine what's going through his head, he's like,
- 38:33this is so fucking awesome. Yeah, if you like to like people
- 38:37watch. I could see how that would be
- 38:39easy enough to just stay there for, yeah?
- 38:41Nobody questions you staring at them.
- 38:43They're like, it's just Michael, Let's find out.
- 38:45Exactly, exactly. It was fun.
- 38:48It's like I even came across him when I was dressed as art and I
- 38:50just started trying to steer him down and started clowning around
- 38:54him and stuff like that. It was I love that kind of
- 38:56stuff. What I love also is just seeing
- 38:58how different people react. And it's like I've know it's
- 39:02really funny is like the people you would think would be totally
- 39:05fine with art are the ones that are usually more scared of art
- 39:07and like other. And the the inverse is true.
- 39:10Like little girls, little girls love art.
- 39:14They I they come up to me and just hug me and I'm like, you
- 39:18should be terrified of me but then I'll see little boys.
- 39:20They see me and they go run and hide behind their parents.
- 39:24And then I I've had, you know, like when I was at Astronomicon
- 39:30a few years ago, my, my security guy, big huge mountain of a man.
- 39:36He and I had been chatting before I was in costume and
- 39:39everything. And he was, we're having fun and
- 39:41I'm in costume and he's trying to escort me down to the floor.
- 39:44We're in the elevator together and he's just backed up into the
- 39:47corner almost in tears. And I was like, well, I can't
- 39:53let this just go. So I just go over and just get
- 39:56like, I just inch closer and closer to his face.
- 39:59And he's just over there. Like please stop, please stop,
- 40:02please stop. And I just slowly bring up my
- 40:04horn into his face and just, and he's just cringing and cringing
- 40:09and just waiting for me to honk the horn.
- 40:12And then I don't. He's like God.
- 40:15And then if someone he doesn't, then I do honk it and he's like
- 40:19God. He just and that's right when
- 40:21the like the elevator doors open up.
- 40:23So everybody sees him in there going in the corner.
- 40:28It was so funny. It was so funny.
- 40:30I'm like, dude, you could pick me up and throw me across this
- 40:33whole entire convention, I think so.
- 40:34I'm like, you're fine. That horn, though, is.
- 40:40Creepy it is, yeah, that's really.
- 40:42And I think that was probably one of my favorite sequences in
- 40:46in Terrifier is where Art is chasing Vicki and then just
- 40:52aggressively honks the horn at her in her face and then hits
- 40:58her with the truck and starts playing very aggressive jazz
- 41:01music. Something about that sequence of
- 41:04sounds is very unnerving. And I was just like, this is it,
- 41:07this is the Timex of the movie. I loved it.
- 41:10I loved it. It's like he's such an asshole.
- 41:14He's such an asshole. I just love that whole bit with
- 41:17him. Just like she gets away with him
- 41:19and he just shoves the horn through the door and just starts
- 41:21talking right in her face, just like cuz he knows he's got her.
- 41:26He's just toying with his food. It's just I love it.
- 41:30Such an asshole. I.
- 41:31Completely forgot that he, like, even starts eating her at that
- 41:34scene. Yeah, There's even, like,
- 41:36elements of cannibalism in this movie.
- 41:38Oh yeah, Yeah, he loves his head cheese.
- 41:41I guess you could say so. One of my favorite bits of the
- 41:44movie, though is whenever he like a you first go into the
- 41:47pizza place and you're just sitting across and you're just
- 41:50making all of those faces like that one face where you're just
- 41:52like cheese and at them the entire time I.
- 41:55Laughing every single time. I love that was fun.
- 41:59The bubble machine ring. Yes.
- 42:01Moment. Because that's something like
- 42:04you could actually see going down at 1:00 AM on Halloween
- 42:09night with the few drunk people in a like you could see like
- 42:12that weirdo. And the booth over there like
- 42:14goes and gets this like plastic ring and proposes to the girl
- 42:18who just has no interest in being stared down the way she's
- 42:22being stared down. Which is like just a terrifying
- 42:25moment of like very, very real to life.
- 42:31It is very real to life. I mean, I live here in New York
- 42:33City. I see people do that kind of
- 42:35stuff all the time on the subway.
- 42:37And it just like where I watched guys just stare at a woman and
- 42:44it's just, it's the most creepy, unsettling thing.
- 42:47It's just like, dude, please stop.
- 42:49That is just like that's I I think that's what I love about
- 42:53that scene. It's like it's very entertaining
- 42:55to watch, but it's also very real in a lot of ways.
- 42:57That's a real, real fear that a lot of women especially have,
- 43:01yeah. You know, that's I I really
- 43:04appreciated the, the diner owner Steve, where he like, you know,
- 43:09tells him he's got to leave and then he checks on them, gives
- 43:12them their food for free, like that's, you know, good guy
- 43:15moment. Yeah.
- 43:17So then he dies. Well, yeah, I mean, no good deed
- 43:20at all. Yeah, he was a good guy.
- 43:23He was a good guy. He was doing this.
- 43:25He was doing what any gentleman should do.
- 43:27It's just like, yeah, good for him.
- 43:30It's a real fuck you, though, to have to clean up all that shit
- 43:33in the. Bathroom God, that's such an
- 43:36interesting decision. That's a real thing, too.
- 43:40I know it is. That comes from a place.
- 43:43I've waited tables for 13 years and I remember one time they
- 43:47told me to go clean a bathroom and there was and it was the
- 43:52person that was in there before was like a middle-aged woman.
- 43:56And I go in there and there's poop on the ceiling.
- 44:00My God, exactly. That was my ration.
- 44:03How? How did that get?
- 44:05How? How have you guys?
- 44:08Have you ever seen like the diagram of people showing how
- 44:10this is done? Where people are just like
- 44:12sitting on the toilet and their ass is just like up towards the
- 44:15ceiling? It's just, but how is and it's
- 44:20like when you especially when you saw the woman, you're like
- 44:24this this this person did that. Pat what?
- 44:27Because you this, it's not the person you would ever assume
- 44:30would do anything like that. But obviously they did.
- 44:32And it's just like this is just disgusting.
- 44:35I'm like, I am not cleaning this up.
- 44:36I do not get paid enough for this.
- 44:38I have to got, I have to take place of food out the tables.
- 44:43This is unsanitary for me to do. And so I just refused.
- 44:47I'm like, no, no, I don't know. I had to clean vomit up at work
- 44:53one time. I can't do that.
- 44:55I can't either. I started throwing up and my
- 44:57coworker that was helping me was like, you need to leave because
- 45:00I'm not cleaning up. Double the amount, just go.
- 45:02Yes, like, I'd rather do this alone than deal with both.
- 45:05I can handle blood. I can handle poop.
- 45:08But vomit. Oh my God, no.
- 45:10I just no. I hope if I ever get married and
- 45:15have kids, I hope my wife has a much stronger stomach when it
- 45:18comes to that, because I'm like, I will change the diapers no
- 45:21problem. That's no problem.
- 45:22But the puke? Nope.
- 45:23Nope, Nope, Nope, Nope. You're gonna be cleaning up a
- 45:26lot more puke. The amount of times Travis has
- 45:28had to say that to me, because we'll do the same.
- 45:30We've got 2 cats and a dog, so we've had to clean up messes and
- 45:35the vomit I always struggle with.
- 45:37And he's like, what are you gonna do if you have kids?
- 45:38What what is gonna happen? And I was like, you're gonna,
- 45:40we'll see. It's just they vomit all higher
- 45:43cleaning service. Although.
- 45:46In our history with our nieces and nephews, the children tend
- 45:49to vomit all over. I know.
- 45:50It's like I'm a bullseye. Yeah.
- 45:53God, that's. I was a camp counselor and a
- 45:57teacher for a while. So I'm like, I've seen that too.
- 46:00And I'm just like, God, no thank you, no thank you.
- 46:06I just, I hate it when people show that kind of stuff in
- 46:09movies and TV shows, too. I'm just like, why?
- 46:12Especially when I'm eating, I'm like, why did you do that?
- 46:16Why? I can't even hear the sound
- 46:19this. Oh no, It makes me start
- 46:21gagging. And we've had, you know, we'll
- 46:23meet people and that somehow comes up in conversation, you
- 46:26know, as it does. And they don't believe it.
- 46:29And then they start to make the sound and then I have to leave
- 46:32to throw up. And they're like, wow, She was
- 46:33serious. I'm like, yeah, that that even
- 46:35happened to me on set for Part 2 at one scene.
- 46:38And it wasn't the character was going to throw up or stuff like
- 46:41that. But they were making those
- 46:42sounds and I was getting nauseous this, and I was like
- 46:46Dave staying character, staying character.
- 46:49I was like, but on the inside I'm just going.
- 46:52I feel like I'm getting a little queasy.
- 46:54All of a sudden it was just the sounds they were making and I
- 46:56was like and I had to compliment the actor afterwards.
- 46:59That was a good performance. Here you actually got me.
- 47:03You got me, so I wanted to. I asked about the makeup process
- 47:12cuz we've seen the time lapse videos a few times, but
- 47:16obviously they're time lapse. How long tongue lapse?
- 47:21Yeah, that would be different. Well, you gotta make the
- 47:25prosthetic stick somehow. Yeah, yeah, I just bring a dog
- 47:28in. It's like here.
- 47:34Obviously it's a time lapse, so it's not a minute and 40 seconds
- 47:40to do the whole process. How long does it typically take
- 47:45when we're doing part one? It took a lot longer than now,
- 47:50but it took about 3 to 4 hours because originally Damian was
- 47:54painting all the white on the makeup on the mask later on and
- 47:59that you had to wait for it to dry.
- 48:00Then you could put more stuff on.
- 48:02So that took a lot more time than what it takes now.
- 48:05Now we've got down to about an hour or a little bit more,
- 48:09depending on like, you know, how much battle damage I have on
- 48:13like how much blood has to be added for continuity purposes
- 48:16and stuff like that. But it's we're also trying.
- 48:19We tried it like one or two days near the end of filming Part 2
- 48:22where we've been trying a new mask with a foam latex instead
- 48:26of the silicon gelatin mask that we were using.
- 48:30And it holds up so much better cuz the gelatin would break down
- 48:34around my mouth all the time, cuz it's any liquid gets on the
- 48:40gels and it starts to dissolve it.
- 48:42And the teeth I was wearing would always make me drool.
- 48:45And so it would just break down very easily, especially with the
- 48:48faces I'm making. And I have a very expressive
- 48:50mouth. And so that would stretch out
- 48:52the makeup and destroy it. So that was always a pain,
- 48:55trying to keep my makeup intact. So we usually would have to film
- 48:58all my closeups first so we can you film those before it all
- 49:02gets destroyed. And then, you know, sometimes
- 49:06send me back to triage. I would call it, you know, to
- 49:09Damon have to cut up pieces of bulb cap and glue it to my face
- 49:13and paint over it and stuff like that or just add more blood to
- 49:17it. That was always the thing.
- 49:17Just put more blood on them just to cover it up and but with the
- 49:23new foam latex we haven't had those problems and it's so much
- 49:28easier and it comes off better too.
- 49:31Do you do the full makeup process for conventions or do
- 49:34you have, like an abbreviated version?
- 49:36Wow, we need the full process. Yeah, that's anytime someone
- 49:39wants me to be in full costume and makeup at a convention for
- 49:41photo op. It's a deal that Damien and I
- 49:45have with each other. He's the one to do it.
- 49:48So if they want me to do that, they gotta bring Damien out,
- 49:52okay And so cuz we don't want if people are gonna be paying for a
- 49:55photo op with art, we don't want it to be some half assed version
- 49:59of it. We want them to get the full
- 50:01deal. That's awesome.
- 50:02Yeah. Is it the paint that you use?
- 50:05I'm just gonna ask cuz I play around with body paint and
- 50:09special effects stuff. Is it grease paint?
- 50:13No or. Is it the alcohol paste?
- 50:16I don't know exactly what it is, but it's not grease paint.
- 50:19Okay. Yeah, yeah, I know.
- 50:21Like for like the black, he uses a Mac pin for a lot of the black
- 50:25on my face. Yeah, which works really well.
- 50:29I love it. It just it it holds up so well.
- 50:33Yeah, I didn't do enough research when I bought my first
- 50:36kit to play around with, and it's OK.
- 50:39It's so. Damien's still so messy.
- 50:41It's so messy and unpleasant to clean up.
- 50:44But I'm also like, I'm gonna use this, all of this before I buy
- 50:48more. Yeah, yeah, you learn as you go.
- 50:52That's the thing. It's like, it's that's you learn
- 50:55from those mistakes. And I mean, like I said,
- 50:57Damien's still learning new things with the makeup.
- 51:00So what are some of your personal favorite scary movies?
- 51:04I know you've mentioned a lot of the inspiration that you brought
- 51:07into art and I know you said that you watched a lot of silent
- 51:11comedians films but what is some of your personal favorites like
- 51:17just chilling as David watching horror movies.
- 51:21Yeah I I love like the original original Texas Chainsaw Massacre
- 51:24and Halloween movies of course. Of course Nightmare on Street
- 51:31Part 3 Dream Warriors is just fantastic.
- 51:34Love that one. Exorcist Omen the first Scream
- 51:38movie. Oh my God.
- 51:39I I recently when I was traveling out to Vegas I just
- 51:41watched it on the plane again and I'm just like God this is
- 51:44this still holds up so well today.
- 51:46It's such a good movie. It's just it's the it's the
- 51:50ensemble that's in it. It's just So what an amazing
- 51:53cast that movie had. It's just the nuances that
- 51:56especially that the like skeet in Matthew or would bring to the
- 52:00roles and it was like you'd see them, you you pick up on things
- 52:04like if you know where to look you you'd see them like you
- 52:06know, giving each other side eyes and stuff like that.
- 52:09It's like oh God, how did I not see all of this in the first
- 52:12time? It's like it's so it's so.
- 52:15It's such a smart film in so many ways.
- 52:18Have you seen the new one? Yeah, yeah.
- 52:21Well, not a fan. It was OK.
- 52:25It was just like, I don't know, it's just, it was missing
- 52:29something. I felt like the legacy
- 52:31characters were totally just underutilized.
- 52:34There was no real rhyme or reason to them being there,
- 52:36especially Sydney and GAIL. I'm like, what?
- 52:38Why are they here? They serve no real purpose to
- 52:40the plot. It's just like they added them
- 52:43then, just to bring people into the theater.
- 52:46I would have loved for Neve Campbell's entire appearance to
- 52:49be her getting the phone call about a new ghost face and then
- 52:53her going no, I've got a husband and kids, I'm not getting
- 52:57involved and then boom, that's it.
- 52:58I was really hoping that was the turn they were gonna take with
- 53:01her. Yeah.
- 53:02Yeah, that would have made much more sense.
- 53:04It's just like, yeah, it's just like this.
- 53:07I don't know. There's so many things.
- 53:09It just, I don't know, I hate to talk bad about it.
- 53:13So because there was a lot of good stuff in it as well, but
- 53:16it's just like when you compare it to the original, it's just
- 53:21night and day. My main problem, my main beef
- 53:24was like the motivation of The Killers and stuff like that.
- 53:28It was just like. Yeah, man.
- 53:30Yeah, that's lame. It was lame and weak and I was
- 53:33like even though I called them from the get go, I was like it's
- 53:36going to be this person and this person.
- 53:38It's like it was just obvious to me.
- 53:41I'm usually like that I it seems like I always called the killers
- 53:43in these type of movies. It's like, I don't know I guess
- 53:47that's how my mind works. But you know, there definitely,
- 53:51I mean it wasn't the worst movie I've seen by far.
- 53:55You know it had had some fun elements to it and stuff like
- 53:58that. So it's like, I hope they they,
- 54:01you know, learn from some of the mistakes and build upon it in
- 54:04part six. You know, I I want it to.
- 54:08I want them to be as good as the first one.
- 54:10You. Know.
- 54:11Yeah. Well, it's cool that you kind of
- 54:14have like a different perspective on it.
- 54:15That's kind of one of the things that we try and tackle on this
- 54:18podcast. We kind of want to like bring
- 54:20all of the perspectives. So like, you know what people
- 54:22love about it, what people hate about it, You know, it's just
- 54:25kind of like get all angles of people's interpretations on,
- 54:28Yeah, movies and stuff like that.
- 54:30Yeah, I do like that. I think that they had a very
- 54:34subtle terrifier reference in it, though, with the name of the
- 54:38sisters Tara and Tara and Samantha.
- 54:43The younger ones think Tara, just like the younger sister and
- 54:46terrifier was Tara and the older sister was Samantha, and the
- 54:50older sister and terrifier was Victoria, who was played by
- 54:53Samantha Scaffidi. So.
- 54:56That's interesting. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:57I don't know if that was a on purpose or is that was a happy
- 55:02accident, but like I like to think that was a terrifier
- 55:04reference in their cells. Like typically a tiny hat to
- 55:07that. Considering the people that made
- 55:09it, I could definitely see that being a legitimate thing.
- 55:12Yeah, who knows? Who knows?
- 55:14But it's like it is like if that was, I take that as a badge of
- 55:19honor to be recognized in a screen film.
- 55:21So plus they had the little snippet of ghost face using a
- 55:26flamethrower like we have art. Using a saw throw, Yes.
- 55:29Yeah. So I was like, I'll take that.
- 55:31I'll take that. I'll take that.
- 55:34It's like now I kind of want to see that version of stab eight
- 55:38though. I'm like, OK, what's going on
- 55:40that? I know, right?
- 55:41The metallic Ghost face mask is amazing.
- 55:44Yeah, yeah. I was like man, cuz I was such a
- 55:46tease and they were showing that image in the back before I was
- 55:49like, that was just an image from Stab and I was hoping that
- 55:52was a new look for Ghost face. Man.
- 55:56Man. Man.
- 55:58Yeah. So like we said, we kind of try
- 56:01and get different perspectives. On movies, this started off with
- 56:05us just arguing about movies that one of us likes and the
- 56:08other one doesn't get why they like it.
- 56:10And it's kind of turned into the whole thing where we get reviews
- 56:15from listeners or we'll pull reviews from Internet and kind
- 56:18of try and figure out what does and doesn't hit Yeah with with
- 56:22the with the movies and have some discussion about that.
- 56:26And we know that Terrifier has been a fairly divisive movie for
- 56:31people. Yeah, of course it has.
- 56:35Would you be interested in hearing some of the reviews
- 56:37we've got? Yeah, I mean, I've seen so many
- 56:40reviews myself and both positive and negative.
- 56:44Yeah, just to be clear, both of us will have terrifier.
- 56:47So generally whenever that happens, I try and pull some of
- 56:51the negative ones since we both like it so much.
- 56:53So yeah, but we also listen, man, anytime that there is a bad
- 56:58review, everybody always praises your performance though.
- 57:00So there's always a little. So I know that's The funny
- 57:05thing. It's like, yeah, it's like
- 57:06there's never, I've never personally gotten a bad review
- 57:09as far as I know. So I'm like, OK, that's cool.
- 57:13All right, well, I grabbed 2 online.
- 57:17I wanted to go for like some really weird, like, funny ones,
- 57:20like non critic reviews. So this one right here is on
- 57:25IMDb. It's titled Viewers who like
- 57:27this movie need Psychiatric Treatment.
- 57:32All right, it continues. Or else they will be the next
- 57:35Ted Bundy, Dennis Rader or Gary Ridgway.
- 57:38Just sick flick, No point other than a torture murder fest for
- 57:42the sadists. Let's download three star
- 57:44reviews and above. Oh my God.
- 57:48Oh man. It's crazy.
- 57:50I don't understand why people have that interpretation that if
- 57:53you like watching like gore and sick shit like this, you are
- 57:57automatically like a depraved person yourself.
- 58:00I know that's totally, actually untrue.
- 58:02They've done studies into that. That actually has no effect on
- 58:05people whatsoever. It's just like actually it seems
- 58:08like the people that are do watch the stuff are the most
- 58:12well adjusted people that you will meet in life.
- 58:16Yeah, I've actually talked about that before is that this horror
- 58:20in general is a way for me to kind of confront some like hyper
- 58:26vigilant tendencies that I have as a result of my past.
- 58:30Like it was just a way for me to understand how fear feels and
- 58:34how to respond to it. And how to like understand when
- 58:38it's like a real present danger versus when it's just?
- 58:42That emotion, like it's been very therapeutic for me in a
- 58:45way, which I think is something that people don't always
- 58:49understand. That perspective of.
- 58:50Yeah. And what's so funny too, is a
- 58:53lot of these people that don't like horror movies, you look
- 58:57like these. You know, I hate saying it, but
- 59:00these religious extremists out there, they're actually the ones
- 59:03doing real horror in real life to people.
- 59:06You know, the ways they have subjected people to their
- 59:12fanaticism in the way they've used that to denigrate sex of
- 59:19society in very horrible ways. I'm like I had a My uncle, when
- 59:27I was two years old, was murdered by the KKK in New
- 59:32Orleans for being gay. Wow.
- 59:35Wow. That's awful.
- 59:36Yeah. And that's the thing.
- 59:38And that's with horror films. They turn the mirror on society.
- 59:45They show us some of our the worst things that society can do
- 59:49to people. And it's it's a way to, you
- 59:52know, learn from the what not to do.
- 59:55And like, we're not really trying to glorify the violence.
- 1:00:00We're trying to show you what evil is and not to be that way.
- 1:00:04It's like art. Yeah.
- 1:00:06Art is not someone to idolize by any means.
- 1:00:09It's like. Cuz I I know we have gotten like
- 1:00:12a lot of people's like, oh, this film's misogynistic.
- 1:00:15I know that's been some reviews and stuff like that.
- 1:00:17I'm like, he's the bad guy. Yeah, that's what makes him the
- 1:00:22bad guy. Yes, he is doing horrible things
- 1:00:24to people, but he's not done. I I don't view him as being
- 1:00:27misogynistic. I view him as just hating
- 1:00:29everybody. He is pure.
- 1:00:31He's evil Incarnate. Well, yeah.
- 1:00:34And I. So that's one of the biggest
- 1:00:36criticisms that I've heard and that I've.
- 1:00:41Kind of had to look at a little bit.
- 1:00:43Is the scene where Art scouts the cat lady and then wears her.
- 1:00:49Yes. Yes, that's a funny scene when
- 1:00:54I'll get to it, yeah. Yeah, and that's one of those
- 1:00:57that, like if you're not a person that's looking for ways
- 1:01:01to condemn non straight. People like you're just like, Oh
- 1:01:08well, art is, you know, trying to look like Tara and throw
- 1:01:11Vicky off like it doesn't even, because that's what exactly he
- 1:01:14was doing. Yeah, but some people interpret
- 1:01:17that as, oh, well, he's the sick guy and he's also crossdressing.
- 1:01:21So there's that correlation there, which I don't see as the
- 1:01:26intention in the scene. It's just one of those
- 1:01:28unfortunate things that we don't get a ton of varied
- 1:01:31representation in film. Exactly.
- 1:01:34Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 1:01:36So that's probably the biggest criticism that I've seen of this
- 1:01:41film that. Really.
- 1:01:42Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:44That's what I thought was, I wouldn't say funny.
- 1:01:47As I said earlier, I don't see it as a funny scene, but it's
- 1:01:50like, it's funny that you mentioned that, because that's
- 1:01:52something I've debated a lot with some people about in the
- 1:01:55past. Because first of all, that was
- 1:01:58our nod to Silence the Lambs. That's Buffalo.
- 1:02:02I call it the Buffalo Bill scene.
- 1:02:04And that's the whole reasoning behind it, that he's trying to
- 1:02:08lure Victoria in, making her think that he's her sister.
- 1:02:13That's why he's dressed up like that.
- 1:02:15And he's okay. Now I'm just gonna prance around
- 1:02:17and just fuck with her. They had none is like cuz I've
- 1:02:21had some people say, oh this is transphobic and you know, all
- 1:02:24that kind of stuff like no, no, no, that was never the intention
- 1:02:26of it. And the irony of them saying
- 1:02:28it's transphobic cuz they don't realize the actress that plays
- 1:02:31the cat lady, Puya, she is actually a trans actress and
- 1:02:37she's very outspoken about being that she's she's very open about
- 1:02:42it. You know, she's she's from Iran.
- 1:02:44So she has an amazing story to tell, like what she has endured
- 1:02:48her whole entire life. And so if anybody thought that
- 1:02:52scene was transphobic and had a problem with it, it would have
- 1:02:55been her and she would have let us know from the very get go
- 1:02:58that she was not fine with that, blah blah, blah, blah.
- 1:03:01I even asked her about it when I first came across someone, you
- 1:03:04know, saying that about the scene.
- 1:03:06And she's like, oh, that purse is full of shit.
- 1:03:09She's there's nothing transphobic about that at all.
- 1:03:12It's just like, no, he's he's that's what people forget.
- 1:03:15He is the bad guy. Yeah, he is evil.
- 1:03:19This is what evil people do. They're not.
- 1:03:21He's not. What do you want him to do?
- 1:03:23I like balloon animals and give out free candy to everybody.
- 1:03:27It's like, no, he's the bad guy that is.
- 1:03:30What makes him the bad guy? Yeah, I never read it as him
- 1:03:33cross dressing. I read it as him wearing
- 1:03:36somebody's skin exactly. And see that?
- 1:03:38To me, that's just sick enough. That's just, I mean, that's the
- 1:03:44leather face too. It's just like, it's that whole.
- 1:03:48It's like, that's horrible. It's a horrible thing to do.
- 1:03:53And we're not condoning it by any means.
- 1:03:55My God. Yeah.
- 1:03:57And obviously I'm glad to hear Puya's take on it, because
- 1:04:05there's only so much that we can speak to it, ourselves being.
- 1:04:10Gender. As for the misogyny, like I'm
- 1:04:15gonna speak as a woman, that's fucking real to life.
- 1:04:18Like, yeah, I experience it daily.
- 1:04:22Like, seeing it in a horror movie where it's being clearly
- 1:04:27condemned is not problematic to me.
- 1:04:30Like, exactly. Like, yeah, he's the bad guy.
- 1:04:35He is the bad guy. And like the the women he's
- 1:04:38going up against are bad ass women.
- 1:04:42Yeah, they're like both. I would say both films pass the
- 1:04:48Bechdel test as well. Yes, that's the thing.
- 1:04:53It's just like and people don't realize both Damian and I come
- 1:04:58from very feminist minded families.
- 1:05:01I mean, Damian is raised in a house full of women, so it's
- 1:05:05like, no, we're not that way at all.
- 1:05:07And that's why we portray art in such a way, showing how evil he
- 1:05:11truly is. But he's not.
- 1:05:12Just like I said earlier, he's not just against women, He's
- 1:05:15against everybody. He hates everybody equally.
- 1:05:17And he actually kills more men than women in terror fire.
- 1:05:21Well, and that's something that, like when you pay attention all
- 1:05:24there are actually a lot of male victims in movies.
- 1:05:28And you know, we've got the whole final girl trope because
- 1:05:32it ends up being. The final girl that survives
- 1:05:35exactly. And there's a reason for that.
- 1:05:37And it deals with like psychology in a lot of ways,
- 1:05:39where an audience empathizes with the female victim over the
- 1:05:44male victim. They cheer more for the female
- 1:05:47to win. That's who you want to see come
- 1:05:49out and kick ass. I agree with that.
- 1:05:52I mean, there's a reason people are still aligning up to see
- 1:05:55Laurie Strode. Yeah, 40 years later.
- 1:05:58Yes. That's why they in the new text,
- 1:06:01Chainsaw Massacre, they had Sally come back.
- 1:06:04It's. Like, have you watched that one?
- 1:06:06Yeah, yeah, I. Wanted so much more with Sally.
- 1:06:12Didn't we all? Didn't we all?
- 1:06:15But that was my point. It's that's the trope in, I mean
- 1:06:22got you think of all the franchises, basically it's
- 1:06:26usually, you know 90% of the time it's the female that is the
- 1:06:32final, the person that survives at the end that the final girl,
- 1:06:36the fine, you know is that's where that trip comes from is
- 1:06:38it. And it's I mean it's not just
- 1:06:42that you have other films like, you know Aliens, you know, Ellen
- 1:06:47Ripley. Oh my God, I'm like hell yes.
- 1:06:51It's like those are the characters that you know we love
- 1:06:55and that's that's why Damian really created the Siena
- 1:06:58character for Part 2. He's like this is a character he
- 1:07:01had created before he even created art.
- 1:07:05This is someone he's wanted to put in the film for a long time
- 1:07:08that he he just loves this characters badass, you know, no
- 1:07:12hold barred lead that's going to come in and go toe to toe with
- 1:07:17art. And it's and that's what I love
- 1:07:19about Her story in Part 2 is that you see that Hero's journey
- 1:07:23that Damien specifically researched the hero's journey
- 1:07:27and applied it to Terrifier too with her character I'm.
- 1:07:30Very excited to see that oh it's just like and Lauren Laverra who
- 1:07:35plays her is just oh she's so good.
- 1:07:38Oh she's so she just she she raised the bar on the film.
- 1:07:42Her just by her performance is just, it added so much more to
- 1:07:47no, the film itself and my performance.
- 1:07:49I just everybody's gonna just love her.
- 1:07:52I am like she's the new final girl that everybody's gonna go
- 1:07:56gravitate to. I truly feel that way.
- 1:07:59I am super excited to see this. Yeah, me too.
- 1:08:02That sounds amazing. Which kind?
- 1:08:03Of leads me to a question I wanted to ask about how you feel
- 1:08:07about everybody saying that art is going to become one of.
- 1:08:10Those were icons. I love it.
- 1:08:15I'm honored. It makes me very, very happy.
- 1:08:19I never imagined that would happen to me.
- 1:08:24But I'm very honored to take that mantle of people want to
- 1:08:29place that upon me because I think it's time that we start
- 1:08:32getting new heart icons again. It's like all we're getting
- 1:08:37right now are a bunch of reboots and remakes and everything of
- 1:08:41input. They're not near as good as the
- 1:08:43originals. It's just like they've run out
- 1:08:45of fresh ideas. And that's the thing.
- 1:08:46We need new villains, just like, you know, Freddy and Jason and
- 1:08:52Mike Myers and all those characters took over from the
- 1:08:55original Universal monsters back in the days.
- 1:08:58Like, we need new blood, but we can still make movies with the
- 1:09:01original guys. I mean, we still get Dracula
- 1:09:04movies and stuff like that today, but we need new blood.
- 1:09:07And I'm hoping it's like we're paving the way for other
- 1:09:11filmmakers to come out and start innovating again.
- 1:09:14Because it just feels like the industry itself, not just horror
- 1:09:19films but Hollywood in general, has just been stagnating this
- 1:09:22past decade. Yeah, it's like there's they're,
- 1:09:26they're not is like big Hollywood is not willing to take
- 1:09:31risks on new ideas. Independent Hollywood.
- 1:09:34And you know film industry itself is like you see a lot of
- 1:09:36it on Netflix now. But like what's being put in
- 1:09:38theaters is just sequel after sequel after sequel after sequel
- 1:09:41after sequel and reboot, reboot, reboot, Ruby reboot.
- 1:09:46And it's just what what Damien and I talked about this all the
- 1:09:50time because Damien is a huge film buff like I am.
- 1:09:53And we, we've really noticed that with comedy there has, you
- 1:09:59know, like we grew up with iconic comedies coming out all
- 1:10:02the time, especially in the 80s and early 90s, and we haven't
- 1:10:05had anything like that in the past decade.
- 1:10:08I I can't really think of a big comedy that came out in theaters
- 1:10:13in the past decade that has really resonated with people
- 1:10:17like God, everything from the 80s, you know, and 70s like Mel
- 1:10:22Brooks in itself. You know, just like, you know,
- 1:10:25you have, you know, you know Blazing Saddles and you know
- 1:10:28Young Frankenstein, Rob Hoodman and tights.
- 1:10:31All those moves. And you have the, of course all
- 1:10:33the John Candy and Steve Martin movies and Eddie Murphy movies
- 1:10:38that came out back that it's like we don't have anything like
- 1:10:41that now. And this is and And I I'm hoping
- 1:10:45that, you know, people are finally getting fed up with, you
- 1:10:48know, just recycled crap over and over again and start
- 1:10:53bringing new ideas to the front. That's why people like Taika
- 1:10:57Waititi make me so happy. Yes.
- 1:11:00Cuz I like what we do in the shadows.
- 1:11:04That's a great movie. Thank you.
- 1:11:06Love that movie. Love that series.
- 1:11:08Will kill to be on it. I'm like, if you're out there
- 1:11:10listening, please, please put me in coach.
- 1:11:14Also, take a YTT. If you are listening to our
- 1:11:17podcast, please, please, please tell us.
- 1:11:19Yes, I'm like I see. I think I want more of that.
- 1:11:24I want. Yeah, that's I love that
- 1:11:26innovation. They're finding new things to do
- 1:11:28now. And I'm like, thank you, thank
- 1:11:30you. There at least some people
- 1:11:32taking risks and taking those chances now.
- 1:11:36There is something I was reading and I cannot remember where I
- 1:11:39read it, but a big I guess. Dissonance that's happening is
- 1:11:46that all of the more innovative movies that are coming out don't
- 1:11:50have that like face for the franchise.
- 1:11:54Like they don't have the iconic killer.
- 1:11:57It's more of a concept or a situation.
- 1:12:01Groundbreaking movies, but you can't necessarily franchise
- 1:12:04them. And so that's very true.
- 1:12:08Yeah, so studios are not like the bigger studios are not
- 1:12:11necessarily wanting to take the huger risks on those things that
- 1:12:14they can't franchise. It's weird.
- 1:12:18Yeah, it's a shame too, because it's like, God, I'm like,
- 1:12:23there's been some really good potential franchises too.
- 1:12:27And they, and I blame the studio system for basically butchering
- 1:12:32them. It's just like the bye Bye Man
- 1:12:37because Jenna was in that as well and she she she left us to
- 1:12:41go film bye bye Man like 2 days later.
- 1:12:43So we had to film all her stuff. So she she told me the whole
- 1:12:48plot of bye Bye Man and what all was going on with the script
- 1:12:51before you know they filmed and everything And then when I saw
- 1:12:54what was on film I'm like whoa what happened to this and this
- 1:12:56and this and this and this and this and this idea and this idea
- 1:12:59and she's like Oh yeah that all got cut.
- 1:13:02They because the studio wanted to make it more of a PG-13 than
- 1:13:06a rated R movies. So they cut all the things that
- 1:13:08really explained things and fleshed out characters better
- 1:13:11because I'm like, I thought the character, the Bye Bye man, what
- 1:13:14a great, brilliant concept. It's like, it's like that's a
- 1:13:18horrifying villain and it's like that and Doug Jones playing the
- 1:13:22character, so my God, you couldn't cast a better person
- 1:13:24and it just fell apart. I'm like, God, this would have
- 1:13:28been an amazing franchise. Yeah, it is.
- 1:13:31If they just really dropped the ball there and it's because they
- 1:13:34butchered it. They were trying to make it more
- 1:13:35safe for an audience and because of that they took the whole soul
- 1:13:39out of the film. With you guys being fully into,
- 1:13:42you guys don't have to deal with any of that stuff, right?
- 1:13:44No, no, that's that's been the beauty of making Terrify too.
- 1:13:48Especially we didn't have a studio saying Nope, can't do
- 1:13:51that. That's too too risky.
- 1:13:53That's that's too over the top. You can't do that.
- 1:13:55Nope, Nope, Nope. We took that as a challenge upon
- 1:13:59ourselves to actually push the envelope more now.
- 1:14:02I think that's what's been going on too, is like horror film
- 1:14:06makers are not taking those risks that they used to take.
- 1:14:10And this is the genre where you can take those risks.
- 1:14:12See how far you can go with the concept.
- 1:14:15Yeah, I do wanna ask if you know anything about this.
- 1:14:19So we have terrifier on Blu-ray and we saw there were some
- 1:14:25deleted scenes. We were really excited and
- 1:14:27checked them out and they really just seemed like extended
- 1:14:30versions of just two separate scenes.
- 1:14:34Yeah, we didn't really have scenes that we really cut out of
- 1:14:36the film. And they really just, it was in
- 1:14:40the diner, Steve taking a couple extra minutes to talk to Don and
- 1:14:45Tara, and then in the car where Art jumps in with Don and then
- 1:14:50we see him drug her. Do you know why those moments
- 1:14:55got cut from the final? Because it's a short runtime, as
- 1:14:58is. The diner scene was cut for
- 1:15:01length. It was just like Damon just felt
- 1:15:04that that was just like, yeah, the scene was like, our producer
- 1:15:08thought it was already a long scene anyway.
- 1:15:10And yeah, and so he just cut some of that just for timing
- 1:15:15reasons and stuff like that. As for the the, the car scene
- 1:15:18with Dawn that was, Damon decided to cut that because he
- 1:15:22didn't want to reveal the needle before Art used it on Tara.
- 1:15:27Yeah, yeah, yeah. And he's like, yeah, maybe I
- 1:15:30shouldn't have cut that because that is kind of funny with him
- 1:15:32screaming back. I love that.
- 1:15:33Yeah, I was about to say that's what I'm sad we missed out on.
- 1:15:35Was the silent Scream back at her?
- 1:15:37Yeah, cuz that was fun. That's like one of those things
- 1:15:40I just did in the car and they thought it was hysterical.
- 1:15:43Like, hey, let's film that. How much of that stuff was
- 1:15:47instructed of you? Like how much of it was you
- 1:15:49improvising it? Or like directed by Damian.
- 1:15:52There was a lot back and forth between the two of us and it was
- 1:15:55like, I mean, I would say about I don't, well, maybe about 70%
- 1:16:00was scripted, 30% improvised. Like especially a lot of stuff
- 1:16:02in the diner scene was improvised, Okay.
- 1:16:05And like I added that little boop on the nose later on
- 1:16:08because Dawn did that to me and the diner site booped her on the
- 1:16:11nose when I had her upside down. I was like, I wanted to bring
- 1:16:13that full circle and then me flicking Victoria off.
- 1:16:19I love that. That was not scripted.
- 1:16:22That was me just goofing around on set with Samantha because
- 1:16:25they're already saying, hey, let's go again.
- 1:16:27So I was like, ah, and they caught it and the whole crew
- 1:16:30started laughing and like, oh, we got to put that in the film
- 1:16:32because, yeah, I had talked about it at one point.
- 1:16:35It's like, shouldn't Art flick someone off?
- 1:16:38At one point? He's like, ah, this seems too
- 1:16:39contrived, but then it just worked.
- 1:16:42In that moment. He's like, well, that's actually
- 1:16:43a funny moment. It works very organically.
- 1:16:46And it was, it was an organic moment there.
- 1:16:49And it it's one of those things. But it's like, but like Part 2,
- 1:16:54there's a lot more improvisation because like when he wrote part
- 1:16:56one, he didn't know me at the time.
- 1:16:58He didn't know my style, cuz I like to play around and
- 1:17:01experiment and add things here or there.
- 1:17:03I did that especially a lot when I did stage work.
- 1:17:06And and so he wrote scenes in Part 2 where he gave the basic
- 1:17:11premise, the bare bones concept of what's going on in the
- 1:17:14moment. But he wouldn't say exactly what
- 1:17:16Art was doing cuz he's like, we'll just it's gonna be a bit
- 1:17:19where you just play around and we'll figure that out when we
- 1:17:24get on set. So we'll see what's in the
- 1:17:25environment and you just come up with a routine to do and that's
- 1:17:28what I would do. There are two scenes.
- 1:17:30Three scenes I can especially think of in Part 2 or I I do
- 1:17:34that, you know those things were so much fun.
- 1:17:36One of them he he definitely cut a lot out of for time reasons.
- 1:17:40But I I had told huge routines with this one object and I hope
- 1:17:45he puts that all on like the the DVD's.
- 1:17:47But it was, it was, it was cut for like, you know, timing
- 1:17:50reasons for a logistic purpose because like, why would this
- 1:17:53person just stand there watching me do this whole entire routine
- 1:17:56with this when they could just be running away?
- 1:18:00But it's just like, but it was fun.
- 1:18:01It was fun. And I love those kind of
- 1:18:03moments. And that's the great thing about
- 1:18:05Damian, too. He's a very collaborative type
- 1:18:08of director. He knows what he wants, but he's
- 1:18:10also willing to hear new ideas and new concepts and see what
- 1:18:14people can bring to it. And it sometimes has led to some
- 1:18:17great moments. I mean, we even had a very great
- 1:18:20happy accident moment that happened on set for Part 2 where
- 1:18:26it's it doesn't reveal much, but I was at one point just supposed
- 1:18:29to be bust through a window, and we had gotten to the breakaway
- 1:18:33window and stuff like that. We had ordered it, and they're
- 1:18:36taking out of the boxes late at night.
- 1:18:38And this is the last day we had to film in this location.
- 1:18:40So we had to film all the stuff that night, and they're opening
- 1:18:43the box and the window's broken and there's no way we could get
- 1:18:47a replacement or anything like that.
- 1:18:49So we're just like, oh Jesus, this whole scene depends on him
- 1:18:52coming through this window. So what can we do?
- 1:18:56So we just put our heads together and we concocted this
- 1:18:59whole new entire scene that revolves around this whole
- 1:19:04incident. And I I think it's so much
- 1:19:07better than what we had originally had scripted.
- 1:19:09And it's, it's a fun little scene there and it's creepy as
- 1:19:13hell too. Oh my God.
- 1:19:14It's very unnerving and it's not something I've never seen before
- 1:19:18in a horror film. And I I think it just adds more,
- 1:19:21you know, character to art. It's like, God, this guy is
- 1:19:26just, it's fun, I love it. And it never would have
- 1:19:29happened. We would never even thought
- 1:19:31about doing this if it had not been for that blast breaking.
- 1:19:35I love when that happens. So I feel like moments like that
- 1:19:37kind of make, like whenever you have to improvise and work like
- 1:19:41on your feet like that kind of brings some amazing moments.
- 1:19:45Yeah, yeah. It's just those happy accidents
- 1:19:50can be wonderful at times. It's just like, Yep, this worked
- 1:19:53out well. They actually improved things.
- 1:19:56Okay, so I figured since we already got the one random IMDb
- 1:20:01review, we'll go ahead and just get a couple of listener reviews
- 1:20:05that we have here. Okay.
- 1:20:07So none of them telling us to get therapy?
- 1:20:09No. Yeah, yeah, we don't.
- 1:20:12None of these people judge us for liking this.
- 1:20:15Yeah, yeah. All right, so this one is from
- 1:20:19Smiley. Sorry friend Chris from Always
- 1:20:22Room for more. Yeah, he says.
- 1:20:24What a fun name. Smiley.
- 1:20:27And he's got clowns in his name, too, so kind of fitting.
- 1:20:30Love it. He says Terrifier is a great
- 1:20:32scary clown film with a truly unsettling scene that makes
- 1:20:35everyone cross their legs. And then we have Michael Grover
- 1:20:40says I'm not a fan of torture porn, so I wasn't expecting to
- 1:20:43like it as much as I did. Genuinely creepy and disturbing
- 1:20:46with the quality of a nightmare. Outstanding performance by David
- 1:20:49Howard as Art. And yes, that scene will never
- 1:20:52be forgotten by anyone. The main take away from
- 1:20:56everybody? Yeah, the the world's worst
- 1:20:58gynecology appointment. Oh, no.
- 1:21:04Yeah, Wolf, I I always call it the the up the crack of Dawn
- 1:21:10scene. Yeah, that's great.
- 1:21:13Yeah, I love a pun and that is beautiful and terrible.
- 1:21:19It is all right. And I got one more of you here.
- 1:21:24It's from Creepy Girly on Instagram.
- 1:21:26It's a longer one, but she had a lot of thoughts and she was
- 1:21:30really excited for you to you to hear this.
- 1:21:33So it says that Terrifier was terrifying the entire time
- 1:21:36because characters acted like they had never seen a horror
- 1:21:39movie before and don't know the basic rules of survival.
- 1:21:42One Take off your helos when being chased by a killer. 2
- 1:21:45Never leave your friend alone on a creepy Halloween night 3 When
- 1:21:49you hear a killer is on the loose in the streets you walk
- 1:21:51the freaking door 4 Don't stab once and run.
- 1:21:55Double tap that shit. Make sure the killer is dead 5.
- 1:21:59If you are walked safe in a room and the police are on the way,
- 1:22:02stay there. Six Probably not a good idea to
- 1:22:05hide in the building. That says keep out ridden on or
- 1:22:08written with blood and the chain quiz.
- 1:22:11Seven, make sure the freaking killer is dead. 8 If the killer
- 1:22:15is down on the ground, don't wait for them to get up.
- 1:22:17We're better yet, ask them to get up before you attack.
- 1:22:20Stupid stupid stupid. You all deserve to die.
- 1:22:24That being said, I really love that this felt like an older
- 1:22:27film with lots of great practical effects.
- 1:22:30Fun scary film over the top core and then lots of hearts and
- 1:22:34ghosts. Yay, I love it.
- 1:22:39That's one of those things, like, I love those tropes that
- 1:22:42are in there, and we did that on purpose.
- 1:22:43Of course, it's just to acknowledge all that.
- 1:22:45It's just like, but I've always said we need to make a movie
- 1:22:49where we acknowledge all those tropes and show what would
- 1:22:53happen if someone did what they were supposed to do.
- 1:22:57Yeah. I guess it's like failing, it
- 1:22:59wouldn't have an effect. Yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 1:23:03It's like. I don't know.
- 1:23:05They run out of the house instead of running upstairs.
- 1:23:07And when they open the door, there's a Garrett wire on the
- 1:23:10door. I already thought of that.
- 1:23:12And it's like, yeah, I was like, you're next I think is one of
- 1:23:16those movies that acknowledges having somebody who knows the
- 1:23:21tropes and things to look out for and they have the Garret
- 1:23:25ready there in it, it gets the sister's neck.
- 1:23:29Yeah, love it. It's like those would be fun to
- 1:23:34address. You just like it's like, I mean,
- 1:23:37we address some of those, I would say in Part 2, it's just
- 1:23:41like someone running upstairs or something like that.
- 1:23:45It's like, yeah, why would they run upstairs?
- 1:23:47And we're like, This is why they would run upstairs instead of
- 1:23:49running out the door or something like that.
- 1:23:51So yeah, And it makes logistical sense.
- 1:23:53I'm like, of course. That's why I'll give Mike the
- 1:23:57benefit of the doubt for trying to leave the building because
- 1:24:00he's probably got some pretty severe head trauma.
- 1:24:03Might not be thinking the clearest in that moment.
- 1:24:06Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 1:24:08It is like, that's like if they had stayed in that room after
- 1:24:12calling the cops. Art Wood still found a way in
- 1:24:14there. Yeah, that's The thing is like,
- 1:24:16he would he would find a way. It's like he's he's he's a
- 1:24:20resourceful little pain in the ass.
- 1:24:26I kind of look at him as like a MacGyver type of character.
- 1:24:29He'll find a way to make it work, yeah.
- 1:24:32Yeah, I could definitely see that.
- 1:24:34Well, that's all I had for listener reviews, so all.
- 1:24:37Right, I love them. Those are great.
- 1:24:38It's like it's when we started writing Part 2, Damian looked at
- 1:24:45all the reviews that he got, both the negative and positive
- 1:24:48and took ideas from both so he could improve on everything.
- 1:24:53And I think he really addressed a lot of that kind of stuff.
- 1:24:55Especially I know, I know like one of the main beefs people had
- 1:24:58was the plot. Now, like even he was like kind
- 1:25:01of, I wish he had, he always felt like he could have, you
- 1:25:04know, expanded on Victoria's character even more, flesh her
- 1:25:08out better and stuff like that. But it's like, you know, that's
- 1:25:11that's just what it is like. But you know, when you look at
- 1:25:14it like a lot of the original slashers that came out, I'm like
- 1:25:18Texas Chainsaw Massacre, That really doesn't have much of A
- 1:25:20plot, no? It just.
- 1:25:23These teenagers go into this house with this crazy family and
- 1:25:26all hell breaks loose. That's how a lot of them started
- 1:25:29back in the day. They only started adding more
- 1:25:31complex plots as they did more sequels.
- 1:25:34Yeah, it's like, OK, we got to start really building the
- 1:25:37universe now. So that's that's kind of what we
- 1:25:39were acknowledging. There was like the basic bare
- 1:25:41bones plot. It's like actually, when you
- 1:25:43think about Terrify actually does have a real plot to, and
- 1:25:46it's not really really around part of the clown per se.
- 1:25:50It's around the character Vic. And it's it's actually kind of
- 1:25:54the same Plot is like one of the biggest graphic novels of comic
- 1:25:59history, The Killing Joke, and sit around that whole concept
- 1:26:03like all it takes is 1 bad Day to reduce the sameest person to
- 1:26:08lunacy. And that's what happens to Vic.
- 1:26:12I never even really thought about that.
- 1:26:13But yeah, that's, you know. Yeah, You're seeing It's Her
- 1:26:15story that the first film is her story.
- 1:26:17It shows what led her to the events that happened, the very,
- 1:26:21very beginning of the film. Like, what caused this perfectly
- 1:26:24sane young woman to go crazy and kill a talk show host?
- 1:26:32What drove her to that? One of the things that I love
- 1:26:35too, is that when Tara calls her to come pick her up and she
- 1:26:40realizes that she's got a midterm she's studying for, she
- 1:26:43doesn't try and guilt her, which I feel like is something that
- 1:26:47you would normally say. Hey, like, come on, please, real
- 1:26:50quick. I'll make it up to you.
- 1:26:52And she's like, shoot, no, we'll find another way.
- 1:26:54And then the drunk roommate comes in and she's like, well,
- 1:26:57I'm not gonna be able to study anyway, so I'll just Yep, like,
- 1:27:02if her roommate hadn't come in, how would things have gone
- 1:27:06differently? That's very that's.
- 1:27:08I never really thought of that. That's a great question to ask.
- 1:27:12It's like, wow, yeah. It's that stupid drunk
- 1:27:18roommate's fault. All this is because that's
- 1:27:20stupid drunk roommate. So we do something with every
- 1:27:25movie we talk about where we try and figure out which character
- 1:27:29we relate the most to. And I personally would say that
- 1:27:34I relate to Tara because if I'm gonna be murdered, it's because
- 1:27:39I have to pee. That's what's gonna happen and I
- 1:27:42can't hold it. That's great.
- 1:27:47Do you have one trav? You know, I'll go with Mike
- 1:27:53because cuz you're gonna exterminate rats with bug
- 1:27:57poison. Naturally, but I would say
- 1:28:02mostly because. I like to think of his reaction
- 1:28:05to whenever the cat lady comes up to him and is like, freaking
- 1:28:08out about stuff. That's our dog Talia barking at
- 1:28:10me. Like freaking out about
- 1:28:12something in the neighborhood. I'm like, it's fine, it's fine,
- 1:28:14Don't worry about it. Just.
- 1:28:16And then I'm gonna die one day because of it, because she's
- 1:28:18actually gonna be warning me of a real threat, and I'm not gonna
- 1:28:20take her seriously. Yeah.
- 1:28:23I I, I totally identify with Erik Symor's character there at
- 1:28:26the diner with, you know, cleaning up the bathroom, all
- 1:28:29that I was that. I know how that goes.
- 1:28:32It's like that poor guy was just at the wrong place at the wrong
- 1:28:35time. He was just trying to do his job
- 1:28:39and then he gets just killed for.
- 1:28:43Poor guy. Terrible last moments, yeah.
- 1:28:46I forgot. Terrible.
- 1:28:48It's a horrible way to just. It's a blade to the face like
- 1:28:51that. It's just like having his hand
- 1:28:55cut off. It's just like, my God, poor
- 1:28:59guy. Well, I guess having all of that
- 1:29:04said and done, I guess it's time for us to wrap this one up.
- 1:29:07Yeah. This is.
- 1:29:08I know this isn't so much fun talking.
- 1:29:11To you, Yeah. It's been amazing, yeah.
- 1:29:12We can. It's been fun talking to you
- 1:29:14guys too. Thank you.
- 1:29:15We can't thank you enough for joining us today.
- 1:29:18You're most welcome. It's been my pleasure.
- 1:29:20Yeah, this is one of the ones that when we started this
- 1:29:23podcast, we're like, yeah, we wanna talk about Terrifyre.
- 1:29:25But it would be amazing to have David on the show for this.
- 1:29:29And the fact that you actually agreed to do it was super
- 1:29:31special to us. So yeah, we really thank you.
- 1:29:33Well, I'm glad I could do it then.
- 1:29:37If you wanna let the people know you wanna plug yourself, where
- 1:29:41to find you. Obviously, upcoming projects
- 1:29:44include Terrifyre 2. Yeah, you can find me on
- 1:29:48Facebook and Instagram under David Howard Thornton.
- 1:29:52And of course, Terrifyre 2 is coming out by Halloween this
- 1:29:55year. We're about to get into the
- 1:29:57hands of distribution right now, so hopefully we can work out
- 1:29:59something there for release date and all that fun stuff.
- 1:30:02That's all out of my hands, so. I'm waiting on like, you know
- 1:30:07all that, just like you guys are right now.
- 1:30:10In addition to Terrifier too, I've also been working on
- 1:30:13another film called Stream Not Scream Stream With.
- 1:30:18A lot of the Terrify 2 team, and we have a lot of horror legends
- 1:30:22in that as well, like Jeffrey Combs, Dee Wallace, Daniel
- 1:30:25Harris, Melissa Rose, Tony Todd, Daniel Roebuck, Dave Sheridan,
- 1:30:31Oh my God. Terry Alexander It's just it's
- 1:30:35amazing cast. It's like an it's a great
- 1:30:39script. Hopefully it's going to be
- 1:30:40another franchise as well and Damian's doing the prosthetics
- 1:30:43on it, so you know that the kills are going to be gnarly.
- 1:30:46Awesome, so. And that's been a lot of fun to
- 1:30:49do. So we're almost finished with
- 1:30:50that. And yeah, I'm about to start
- 1:30:52doing a lot more conventions as well this year.
- 1:30:54Next month I'm gonna be at Harhound in Cincinnati.
- 1:30:59So if you're in that area, come out and see me.
- 1:31:01I'm gonna be at Astronomicon in April and gonna be doing a lot
- 1:31:06more in the coming year as well. Maybe you'll make it to
- 1:31:10Lexington in October. If they invite me, I'll come.
- 1:31:15I've got some message them on Facebook.
- 1:31:20Yeah, you're talking about what? Yeah, I'd love to come back.
- 1:31:21Scare fast? Yeah, definitely.
- 1:31:24All right. Cool.
- 1:31:25Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:31:27All right. Well, we'll go ahead and wrap
- 1:31:29this up. David, thanks again for coming
- 1:31:31on. Thank you.
- 1:31:32You're very welcome. Thank you.
- 1:31:38So that was our interview with David Howard Thornton.
- 1:31:41Like we said, not necessarily our typical format, but he was
- 1:31:47really psyched to hear everybody's reviews, answered
- 1:31:51some of our questions. If you guys are curious, I'm
- 1:31:55definitely keeping my writing the same.
- 1:31:59Actually, I might bump it up to an 8 1/2 after the discussions.
- 1:32:02OK, what made you change it? Just hearing about something
- 1:32:05like the thought processes that went behind the scene.
- 1:32:08I've already said that, you know, in the past that I'm very
- 1:32:10much biased towards if I hear stuff behind the scenes, I will
- 1:32:15let it affect how I view the movie.
- 1:32:17Yeah, so. No, Yeah.
- 1:32:18I mean it's it makes a difference.
- 1:32:20Really. Yeah.
- 1:32:22Yeah. I think I'm fuck, man.
- 1:32:25I'll put mine a path of .2 like for 9 1/2.
- 1:32:28Fuck it. It's close to a perfect movie.
- 1:32:30I know that he mentioned that. You know the plot.
- 1:32:33Like that It does have a plot and you know, it is there.
- 1:32:36But I like, I mean, even Damian himself, like recognizes this.
- 1:32:39It was a little bit weak and, you know, weaker than it could
- 1:32:43have been. So yeah, if they had that like
- 1:32:46fully unlock, I think that this would have been, yeah, a 10 for
- 1:32:50me. But I mean, everything else is
- 1:32:52so great. Like I said, like.
- 1:32:54They just know everything else. And yeah, I'm super excited for
- 1:32:58Terrified too, especially after talking to him.
- 1:33:00Yes. Hearing that, he's really taking
- 1:33:03in all of the feedback he's gotten and is willing to push
- 1:33:07things even farther, and I'm very excited to see what comes
- 1:33:12out of it. Not only that, they did a whole
- 1:33:15Kickstarter for just one scene in a movie.
- 1:33:18Yeah, yeah, I heard. And it exceeded its budget by a
- 1:33:21lot, so I can't wait. Like, that one scene got more
- 1:33:26funding than the first movie entirely.
- 1:33:27It's insane. I can't wait.
- 1:33:29Yeah, it's gonna be great. So, all right, Talia was very,
- 1:33:34very active during this movie, playing a lot, barking a lot.
- 1:33:38She watched a lot of the movie. I'm gonna say Ty.
- 1:33:41It probably gives us a nine, which is our average rating.
- 1:33:44She squeaked during it too. Yeah, she's with the toy, so.
- 1:33:46She's getting into character. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:33:49And Zoe did watch the movie with us.
- 1:33:51She loved it. Like, yeah, pretty much the
- 1:33:53whole movie. I think there was like, near the
- 1:33:55end she got up. I don't know where she went, but
- 1:33:58she was on the couch watching the TV the entire time.
- 1:34:01Even Scout watch. Even Scout was here.
- 1:34:03Yeah, it's a good movie. Everybody should watch it, yeah.
- 1:34:07So I don't even want to try and do a dream sequel just because
- 1:34:10I'm so excited to hear. We'll be covering the rest of
- 1:34:13this series as it comes out, probably.
- 1:34:16So we can probably do the next like whenever 2 comes out, we
- 1:34:19can do it. Hell yeah, yeah.
- 1:34:22So as you guys know, it is a new month, which means by the time
- 1:34:25this episode has come out that we will have released our March
- 1:34:29schedule. So be sure to go to our social
- 1:34:32media and check that out. I already plugged those at the
- 1:34:33beginning of the episode, but in honor of spring and their
- 1:34:41reawakening of the bugs of the world and all of our talk of
- 1:34:47Jawlows and how that's Travis's jam, I decided it would be fun
- 1:34:52to pull the one Jello that I love more than him.
- 1:34:56Not that I love the movie more than I love him.
- 1:34:58Like I love the movie more than he loves the movie.
- 1:35:00I don't. Know many might love it more
- 1:35:02than me. Maybe some days.
- 1:35:06And as a bonus, it has Donald Pleasants because Halloween 3
- 1:35:12does not have Donald Pleasants this month.
- 1:35:14Yeah, we're filling the quota. Yeah, we're filling the quota,
- 1:35:17but we're going to be watching phenomena.
- 1:35:19Yay. It is available if you have a
- 1:35:22premium subscription to Sling TV or Amazon Prime currently adds
- 1:35:27on shutter. As of today, when we're
- 1:35:31recording this at the end of February, supposedly it's going
- 1:35:34to be leaving shutter, but we're not.
- 1:35:37We don't have a confirmed date for when it's leaning right.
- 1:35:39Now some point in March, allegedly, we haven't seen any
- 1:35:42confirmation on that yet. Yeah, so, but it's also on to be
- 1:35:46that I saw. So yeah, it doesn't come up on
- 1:35:50Google when I search it, which is where I usually check for
- 1:35:54streaming information, it's not popping up to be, and normally
- 1:35:58it does. I've got an app that gives me
- 1:36:00all the stuff and it, yeah, and we were on to be last night and
- 1:36:03we saw phenomenon. But did we?
- 1:36:05Didn't we? I don't remember I pulled it up
- 1:36:07on the on my app though. OK, so yeah, yeah, but it's it's
- 1:36:12weird. It's weird.
- 1:36:14There is a girl that can talk to bugs, and there's a helpful
- 1:36:18monkey sidekick. Donald Pleasant's monkey
- 1:36:21sidekick Yeah, Donald Pleasant's is helpful monkey sidekick,
- 1:36:24although he ends up hanging out with the girl that talks to
- 1:36:27bugs. He hangs out with both of them.
- 1:36:29Yeah, there's a basement garbage swimming pool.
- 1:36:35It's Jennifer Conley too, so it's a good cast.
- 1:36:39Yeah, watch it for sure. It's a weird movie, but I really
- 1:36:43enjoy it. People will like it.
- 1:36:45Yeah. I think it's gonna be a fun way
- 1:36:46to talk about. Yeah.
- 1:36:47So. All right.
- 1:36:50Is that it? That's it, all right.
- 1:36:52Until next time. Bye.
- 1:37:05Sorry, I'm trying to think of. That's OK, I have those moments.
