Rams Drafting Ty Simpson SHOCKED Micah & Malik Nabers | 2026 NFL Draft · Bleacher Report

• 0:00
Speaker 1: It is interesting. We expected an offensive line run closer
• 0:03
Speaker 1: to the end of the teams.
• 0:05
Speaker 2: Wow. Way, no way.
• 0:10
Speaker 1: There was a thought that maybe a team would trade
• 0:13
Speaker 1: into the back half of the first round to get
• 0:15
Speaker 1: Ty Simpson. But at pick number thirteen, a team that
• 0:19
Speaker 1: went to the NFC Championship, a team that has Matt Stafford,
• 0:23
Speaker 1: who just won an MVP Award and has a team
• 0:26
Speaker 1: that is close enough to make a run at a
• 0:28
Speaker 1: Super Bowl title, just drafted the quarterback that will replace
• 0:32
  Speaker 1: him eventually.
• 0:34
  Speaker 3: Wow.
• 0:34
Speaker 1: And they also took a quarterback that knows what it
• 0:37
Speaker 1: is to wait. Three years behind Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe,
• 0:41
Speaker 1: Ty Simpson finally got his shot at Alabama, second team
• 0:45
Speaker 1: All SEC, twenty eight touchdowns. He knows how to wait.
• 0:49
  Speaker 1: Micah wow.
• 0:52
  Speaker 4: A pick A pick A pick?
• 0:55
Speaker 2: Why if you're talking about if you're watching a film,
• 0:59
Speaker 2: where do boss post to be?
• 1:00
  Speaker 4: Do?
• 1:00
Speaker 2: I think sometimes he playoff timing, Yes, But when he's
• 1:04
Speaker 2: playing on timing and he's on his game, he's a
• 1:07
Speaker 2: great quarterback. Now it makes even better he's in no rush.
• 1:12
Speaker 2: The Rams didn't have a whole lot of.
• 1:14
Speaker 1: Needs, but what about getting a guy to go for
• 1:16
Speaker 1: a Super Bowl run?
• 1:17
Speaker 2: I get it. I get it, but there's also at
• 1:20
Speaker 2: life after Matt. You still have young players. They have
• 1:24
Speaker 2: Verse still in a rookie deal. Fiesky, they traded for
• 1:28
Speaker 2: McDuffie at corner. Those was their biggest knees corner, and
• 1:31
Speaker 2: they filled them with Watson and McDuffie safety. They're good
• 1:35
Speaker 2: with Lake, You're a good team.
• 1:36
Speaker 1: You might not be drafting at thirteen exactly.
• 1:39
Speaker 2: This was their perfect opportunity to do it. And I'm
• 1:41
Speaker 2: actually happy they did it because now they did it
• 1:44
Speaker 2: with an MVP quarterback at that Tom Sims should be happy,
• 1:48
Speaker 2: not just because he was the top fifteen pick, because
• 1:50
Speaker 2: he's behind the goat.
• 1:51
Speaker 1: And he's got Sean McVay as that coach.
• 1:55
Speaker 2: Come on, bro, like people are gonna hate the pick
• 1:58
Speaker 2: because yes, you'll say, oh, it's thirteenth pick. Maybe maybe not,
• 2:02
Speaker 2: who's a judge whatever, rafted the top ten, so it
• 2:04
Speaker 2: doesn't matter. Wow, you're getting a quarterback that can learn
• 2:07
Speaker 2: under Matt Stafford, Matthew Stafford for a couple of years. Great.
• 2:11
Speaker 2: It's the same thing with Jordan Love and Aaron Rodgers.
• 2:12
Speaker 2: Jordan Love was that pick five, I.
• 2:15
Speaker 1: Think right around there.
• 2:16
Speaker 2: And he's stander. Aaron Rodgers and look who he is. Now,
• 2:20
Speaker 2: this is what you need. You're no Rustler's got to
• 2:22
Speaker 2: get in the field, and if he does, he's getting
• 2:24
Speaker 2: quality reps in the NFL.
• 2:26
Speaker 4: What do we think, Trevis, I'm disagreeing with Mikey here.
• 2:31
Speaker 4: This is this is this is a Sea pick.
• 2:33
Speaker 2: Here, this is a C pick for me.
• 2:34
  Speaker 4: Look, I can't I can't totally hate it because you're
• 2:37
Speaker 4: drafting a quarterback that is in a decent position here,
• 2:40
Speaker 4: but you're in a super Bowl window, man, like you
• 2:43
Speaker 4: got the opportunities. I mean, you could have drafted a
• 2:45
Speaker 4: Reuben Bain and just had waves of pass rushes on
• 2:48
Speaker 4: that defensive line. If the guys go down on that
• 2:50
Speaker 4: defensive line, you don't want that to derail a potential
• 2:52
Speaker 4: super Bowl season for you. Look, I like Ty Simpson.
• 2:55
Speaker 4: I feel like I've had to defend ty Simpson at
• 2:57
Speaker 4: times throughout this entire draft process because I think he
• 3:00
Speaker 4: can win in this league. But the problem with him
• 3:02
Speaker 4: is that if Matthew Stafford, we know he's at least
• 3:04
Speaker 4: playing this year, if he's playing another year after that,
• 3:07
Speaker 4: ty Simpson already didn't have a lot of starts in
• 3:09
Speaker 4: college and so yes, he can sit behind Matthew Stafford.
• 3:12
Speaker 4: It's a great situation, but you're not starting him until
• 3:15
Speaker 4: halfway through his rookie deal in the NFL. Then it's
• 3:17
Speaker 4: a little bit of a learning curve for him as
• 3:19
Speaker 4: he becomes a starter. Funny enough, my player com for
• 3:22
Speaker 4: him is a little bit smaller of a quarterback, Mark Bolger,
• 3:27
Speaker 4: who actually played for this LA franchise, And I watched
• 3:31
Speaker 4: these two guys, and when you watch him back to back,
• 3:33
Speaker 4: I mean the way that they are able to locate
• 3:36
Speaker 4: the football to diagnose defenses. I like that about Ty Simpson,
• 3:40
Speaker 4: how he made protection calls, how he could deal with
• 3:43
Speaker 4: things post snap, how he knew how to go through
• 3:45
Speaker 4: full field reads. Mark Bolger, I Feltwike was kind of
• 3:48
Speaker 4: the same way. Didn't have the biggest, strongest arm, but
• 3:51
Speaker 4: his mind was so fast he knew how to get
• 3:53
Speaker 4: to the ball exactly where it needed to go. So
• 3:55
Speaker 4: a little bit of a throwback there, But I just
• 3:58
Speaker 4: I can't believe they did it. I cannot believe that
• 4:01
Speaker 4: they made this pick here with him at number thirteen.
• 4:04
  Speaker 2: Overall.
• 4:04
Speaker 4: I remember making this very mock draft pick like three
• 4:07
Speaker 4: or four months ago because I said sort of what
• 4:09
Speaker 4: Micah was saying where it was like, hey, why not
• 4:12
Speaker 4: use this blessing of a thirteenth overall pick that you
• 4:15
Speaker 4: got from the Falcons for your future quarterback? But now
• 4:18
Speaker 4: I think the Rams are in a different spot. The
• 4:20
Speaker 4: Seahawks have taken a step back. You've taken a step
• 4:23
Speaker 4: forward in a roster. This is the Super Bowl favorites
• 4:25
Speaker 4: right now, and right now their number thirteen overall pick
• 4:28
Speaker 4: does not help them achieve that goal. I'm shocked that
• 4:31
  Speaker 4: they made.
• 4:31
Speaker 1: This a seed for treyor Sigma A for Michaeh Parson's
• 4:35
  Speaker 1: elak Neighbors.
• 4:36
  Speaker 2: What great deals.
• 4:38
Speaker 3: I gotta go C plus just because is this a
• 4:44
Speaker 3: high pick? Yes for Tom Simpson, Yes, isn't the right
• 4:48
Speaker 3: pick for la I believe I agree with Micah because,
• 4:52
Speaker 3: like he said, he doesn't have a problem waiting. He
• 4:54
Speaker 3: can sit behind Matthew Stafford and learn a lot. That
• 4:58
Speaker 3: often that he's going is he go to learn, and
• 5:00
Speaker 3: he's gonna be able to deliver the ball to great talent.
• 5:03
Speaker 3: If the pick was later on and matt they decided
• 5:07
Speaker 3: to pick him, it would have still been good. But
• 5:09
Speaker 3: they decided to get him early on, and that's that's fine.
• 5:12
Speaker 3: That's a good pick for that offense, and.
• 5:14
Speaker 1: That's what you're going to see because you understand the philosophy.
• 5:18
Speaker 2: It was just early, right early.
• 5:20
Speaker 1: So they leave this draft they had two first round picks,
• 5:22
Speaker 1: they get their quarterback in the future, and then they
• 5:24
Speaker 1: traded one for McDuffie, so they answered that cornerback spot.
• 5:27
Speaker 1: But that is clearly the pick that we will be
• 5:30
Speaker 1: talking about all night tonight.
