- 2:03about to take place over the next few hours here is something
- 2:06a first timer should never listen to in the house tonight
- 2:11for the state of the program, our sponsor, Lord Doctor Jeremy
- 2:17Counts themselves. I'm Jeremy.
- 2:21Yay, I'm on. South Main Street.
- 2:24I don't know if he's working tomorrow.
- 2:25I'm guessing not. I am.
- 2:28Unfortunately, but it's all right, it's three hours.
- 2:31I'll leave, OK. Also joining us, pops
- 2:35extraordinaire and a true friend of the program.
- 2:38He is here every week in the comments.

- 2:44Mama, Mama go here and come beat my ass.
- 2:46Chris Lester, how you doing tonight?
- 2:48What's going on fellas? How y'all doing tonight?
- 2:51Living the dream, buddy Buddy good and as always, our great
- 2:55friend. A year ago tonight, A year ago
- 2:57today, me and Dan were sitting, getting like Chris was too,
- 3:01excuse me, getting absolutely hammered in a rainstorm at the
- 3:04Military Bowl, sipping on bourbon.
- 3:06Have a good time from the tails of the Terradon, Dan.
- 3:09Pulse, Daniel. How you doing guys?
- 3:12What's? Up brother buddy, you doing?
- 3:15The stinky stinky himself. Dan Stinky, Stinky, stinky.
- 3:19Stinky. Oh yeah, it's going to be.
- 3:23A good one. Don't know if I can beat them
- 3:25allegations but. All righty.
- 3:30Also as always, I am joined by my esteemed colleague, first of
- 3:35all, Miss Jonathan Talley, who is sitting above a casino right
- 3:39now. So if at any point in time he
- 3:41goes he going gambling y'all I might need?
- 3:45To go bet on some, I might need to go bet on some of these
- 3:48games, man. I'm sitting here watching this
- 3:50Washington State Syracuse game. Just chilling, man, enjoying
- 3:54time with my guys. My wife is downstairs.
- 3:57Hopefully she's winning and not losing.
- 3:59It's going to be a good night. That's all I can say.
- 4:02Maybe we get a committed to while we're on here.
- 4:03Oh, that. 'D be.
- 4:04That'd be beautiful. I I would love another offensive
- 4:07lineman to. Jump in the boat.
- 4:10Or two or two, but at least one. Give me one, one we.
- 4:13Know OK. We'll do one at a time.
- 4:15I'm OK with that. I don't need 5 but OK.
- 4:18Mary Hall. Mary Hall.
- 4:19We know we need as many as we can get, baby.
- 4:22OK. How are you tonight, buddy?
- 4:24How's life? I got a little gin and tonic in
- 4:27my hand here. It was a good Christmas we had.
- 4:30We had some good times. We have family over.
- 4:34I know Curtis is having a good time because he the PS5 finally
- 4:38has made the way into the. Oh, man, household.
- 4:41So congratulations. Congratulations, hey.
- 4:44Santa Claus Rocket PS 5 Santa Claus.
- 4:47Came through, huh? He bought CFB, I've been on
- 4:52that. We got Madden.
- 4:53The brand new Madden came out, we got the show, we got NBA2K.
- 4:58It has been a fun time since Christmas Day.
- 5:02Yes, Sir. I'm going to tell you what some
- 5:05of the controls like people were telling me about the RPOS.
- 5:09I'm going to tell you Curtis, going to be playing on freshman
- 5:11for about the next 6 to 8 weeks before I get a feel of it.
- 5:15Curtis. It is balls apparently.
- 5:18Curtis. How hard say that I'm smart.
- 5:20I'm smart because if you go in there and you try to go to
- 5:23Heisman or All American and you get your shit ate up, that ain't
- 5:26no fun. The game's got to be fun first.
- 5:28How many games have you played? And this, this is completely
- 5:31off. How many games have you ever
- 5:32played, started off on the hard level, get your ass ripped, and
- 5:35you just say fuck that game. Like I'm never playing that game
- 5:37again. I do not like it.
- 5:39And you're sitting there like, dude, you tried it on the
- 5:42hardest mode. Like it's brand new.
- 5:44Depending on your gaming level, because I'm sure there are a
- 5:47couple guys in here that could take them and beat the ass on
- 5:50the hardest level at the gate. But I haven't played a true
- 5:53PlayStation game in years, so that's me.
- 5:56Yeah, Curtis, what is it like? Like having a PlayStation that
- 6:00you've got to share with children?
- 6:02Like how hard do you have to hit them to get the controller back?
- 6:05I am. I am a very, very, I'm a
- 6:08delegate here. You get 45 minutes, Go, go play.
- 6:12I don't care what you play. Go play.
- 6:14You get 45 minutes for the play. Daddy gets 3 hours.
- 6:19So Curtis. So Curtis says 3.
- 6:22Time. I see where screen time comes
- 6:23from now. Oh, you've had your 15 minutes
- 6:25for the day so. Get off, get off.
- 6:27Get the fuck out of here. Exactly.
- 6:31It's his man cave. We've.
- 6:33Got to go buy his baby we got to go buy these babies APS 5 that's
- 6:37going to be one of my one of my one of my good deeds for the
- 6:40year instead of PS5 for curse's kids yeah man I'm.
- 6:45The man cave one in the playroom.
- 6:47Right. Yeah, for the babies, man.
- 6:48Let the babies go. Get that work in man.
- 6:50That we we let them have it. I mean, I'm not, I'm not, I'm
- 6:53not the a hole guy. I let them play with it and
- 6:56they've got the Switch stuff so. They.
- 7:00Go to bed early. So OK, I'll sit here and play
- 7:03all I want to. So yeah, but it's been a lot of
- 7:07fun, so. If you want your if you want
- 7:09your kids to love you, Curtis, go buy Spider Man 2.
- 7:12Oh yeah, you bought it. Oh, man, you bought.
- 7:13Dude, you. Bought that one of the best
- 7:16games and that's a great game to play with your kids.
- 7:20I mean, it's it's challenging enough where adults like it, but
- 7:25it's, you know, PG enough for kids are into it, but it's a
- 7:29it's a great game. Me and my son played it together
- 7:31and beat it together. Well, he beat it and I watched
- 7:34most of the time. But it's just got a lot of stuff
- 7:37in it. You, you'll, you'll enjoy that
- 7:39all right. All right, I'll, I'll, I'll make
- 7:41a note that I mean, plus they got some gift cards from family
- 7:44like $25 PlayStation. So we might be going to target
- 7:47tomorrow and like I've been recommending to the Spider Man
- 7:50tale, get to. Don't let them use it on
- 7:52Fortnite skins, you make them by games.
- 7:54That's right. They will waste it on Fortnite
- 7:56skins. Don't let them listen.
- 7:58Yes, they do Forget that. You're not allowed to play the
- 8:00PlayStation Five if you do this. You have to go do something all.
- 8:04Right. Well, this is the state of the
- 8:07program episode and obviously a lot happened 365 days from the
- 8:13last time we talked to now. And obviously we we text with
- 8:17Chris, we messaged Chris, Chris is watching every week.
- 8:19We talked with Jeremy, we talked with Diane.
- 8:22So I'm sitting here and I want to bring this up.
- 8:25First, let's talk about the seat because we that's why we're
- 8:29here. That's what made us talk.
- 8:33So it's fucking deja vu all over again.
- 8:37The comments. Are already hitting man.
- 8:39But it's a, it's a, it's a different feeling this year.
- 8:43Last year we were six and six. This year we're six and six.
- 8:48Last year we were happy. A lot of lot of liquor flowing
- 8:53last year, a lot of very optimistic people.
- 8:57But when you go six and six after going six and six, I mean
- 9:02y'all. Damn good it.
- 9:06Don't matter, we're going to be back here.
- 9:08Same thing. We're already feeding ourselves.
- 9:10Hop all fucking ready. We do this every year.
- 9:13It's the same fucking perpetual circle jerk every year where we
- 9:17get hopped up and we're going to get hopped up because we're fans
- 9:19and we will grab whatever we need to and we will circle jerk
- 9:23ourselves till we're raw and bleeding or we develop calluses
- 9:26all over our. Dick our Dicks are going to look
- 9:28like. Our Dicks will.
- 9:31Look like by the. Time we're done.
- 9:33Not not mine, but I understand what you're saying.
- 9:35I'm feeling it, I think. I think Hobbit.
- 9:38Yeah, we were. Hobbit feet.
- 9:40Hey, Kev. Hey Kev.
- 9:42Oh, Kevin asked me. Kevin asked me.
- 9:44I'm I'm sipping on Terra Manus tonight, man, a little Terra
- 9:48Manus and I think it's a lemon, Lemon lemonade.
- 9:54That's what I got. Strawberry lemonade one don't
- 9:55simply simply lemonade drinks. He hit me on the side and asked
- 10:00me what I was drinking. But I'm drinking at Teramanos.
- 10:02But I don't think it's going to be the same because I think last
- 10:05year we walked in here at 6:00 and 6:00.
- 10:07We were healthy, we were optimistic.
- 10:09We felt great about the guys who went.
- 10:11We didn't even care about the guys we're leaving in the
- 10:13portal. We were just happy we had our
- 10:15guys back. I think the person we did not
- 10:17expect to show up and bug us this year for our football team
- 10:21was injuries. We didn't expect.
- 10:23We, we, we thought we was playing on Madden rookie, you
- 10:26know, CFB rookie where nobody got tired and nobody got injured
- 10:30and we didn't know. We didn't expect that to happen.
- 10:33We thought we were playing on Curtis level, but they said they
- 10:35were playing on my level. That's right.
- 10:37We plan on, we plan on all, all Heisman, Heisman mode this year.
- 10:41And that's what that's what got us.
- 10:43That's what definitely got us this year.
- 10:45But I'm not, I'm, I'm yeah, I'm, I'm disappointed.
- 10:50But I think, you know, I'm just glad we, we did something to
- 10:54start a tradition by getting back to a bowl back-to-back.
- 10:56We hadn't done that in years. And that's what, that's what I
- 11:00was, I was most excited about. We got back to a bowl.
- 11:03So those kids can understand that and they can start a
- 11:06tradition. You know, we're, we're, we're
- 11:07facing a team. I think, I think it's Minnesota.
- 11:11I think they've had like 2526 years of consecutive bowl
- 11:15appearances. And that's, I know for
- 11:17everybody, like, oh, well, you were 66.
- 11:18But those kids every year can expect to go play a bowl.
- 11:21And that's what I want us to be able to do a little bit higher
- 11:24bowl. But as long as we get to a bowl,
- 11:25that's all that matters. And there was a.
- 11:27Time not long ago where we were just straight up like I was
- 11:30getting sick of going to the Orange Bowl.
- 11:32I was just like, this is lame. Let's go to a different bowl
- 11:35game. And I mean, we were rolling
- 11:37then. Well, that was back when the
- 11:40computer picked the best two teams in the nation.
- 11:44You got to understand. And I still think I'm in college
- 11:46half the time, so it's like, to me, it's not that long ago.
- 11:50It's not how old you are, it's how old you feel, man.
- 11:52How old you feel? How you?
- 11:55Feel 20. 1. I remember last year at the
- 11:58Military Bowl, I remember being like, this is the happiest I've
- 12:02ever been to be 6:00 and 6:00. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:05Yeah, this year is not that. This year is not.
- 12:07That saddest you've ever been? It's not, it's not the saddest.
- 12:10I've been like, there's not some.
- 12:12Uglier. Six and sixes, but it's we were.
- 12:14This close, it was one of four games we were so close.
- 12:18Man, I was I was feeling pretty bad at at the start of the
- 12:22portal, like it was it was looking a little rough, but then
- 12:27it always does I guess. But then like primate, the
- 12:30necessary firings, at least some of them, I don't know, I think.
- 12:37At least. Some of it the starting with
- 12:39Vanderbilt this year, it was kind of like, I just remember
- 12:42walking out of there being like, fuck, like what the hell?
- 12:45And then like there were things like Crook refused to fix the
- 12:50like change the line, like Parker got our quarterback hurt
- 12:54multiple times. The staff get me.
- 12:56Started. The staff let our quarterback
- 12:59take the bullets all year. Like, instead of just coming out
- 13:02and saying, hey, like this man, like Cairn Jones is severely
- 13:06injured. Like give him like, I think it
- 13:10would have done wonders for him if they would have came out and
- 13:13like, hey, you know what? This is actually the situation
- 13:16instead of people being like, like creating their own
- 13:19narratives. I mean, some of that would have
- 13:21happened anyway, but that's just Twitter.
- 13:23But like for the most part, they didn't do him any favors by not
- 13:26like, like somebody should have spoke up.
- 13:28In my opinion. We looked out of shape the whole
- 13:30time. Tally was on that early.
- 13:31A couple people were on that early.
- 13:33They, they got rid of between, between the refuse, between the
- 13:37no adjustments coming out of the first half into the second-half,
- 13:41which is crazy because when you get 15 minutes to, to, to figure
- 13:45shit out, like there should be some sort of change.
- 13:48And not only did they not adjust, but they weren't, they
- 13:50weren't in shape enough to, or they were gassed at the end of
- 13:53games and we ended up just losing.
- 13:56And it was just, it wasn't good. But there's been some positive
- 14:00in the last couple days, but I'll definitely wait and see
- 14:02this offseason. Yeah, I I agree with you, Dan.
- 14:07I think one of the biggest things is, you know, our
- 14:10offensive line really struggled early and that got our
- 14:12quarterback hurt and he was just taking shots left and right.
- 14:15He got his foot stepped on and you know we had to bring that
- 14:18in, but we were not. Performing in the.
- 14:20Second-half his own player that we were not performing in the
- 14:23second-half and you could say, OK, it adjustments out of shape.
- 14:27But I mean, we've got to be ready for that.
- 14:29We've got to be able to not only go in and change up what we're
- 14:32doing. We can't just be like, well,
- 14:33this has been working, let's go with it.
- 14:35They're not going to make it. Just we got to anticipate them
- 14:38anticipating our changes. We got to go next level.
- 14:41We got to play 5D chess. This is big boy ball.
- 14:43You know, we don't fuck around. And I, I really think that's
- 14:47what it comes down to. I think it comes down to
- 14:49second-half adjustments because there are games like the BC game
- 14:52where I was first half, I was like, we got this, like this is
- 14:56not that big of a deal. And it was just like gone
- 14:58because we weren't making adjustments.
- 15:00And that has to be done. And that's why I think this
- 15:03offseason is a little different than a lot that we've seen
- 15:05because Pry actually did what he should do and made coaching
- 15:10changes. And that is a really, really
- 15:12positive thing for me because for the longest this time, we
- 15:16had, you know, Frank was very attached to his staff, but, you
- 15:20know, they won. So that was OK, right, To a
- 15:23certain extent. And then Foo was too attached to
- 15:25his fucking staff, and we started going downhill.
- 15:28And the fact that we're making those adjustments now is
- 15:31encouraging me. Yeah.
- 15:32And I and I, we talked about this a lot and you know, I've
- 15:35said this, we said it a little bit last year, we said it this
- 15:37year. I think sometimes, especially on
- 15:40defense, it's the mindset from the coaches was a little too
- 15:44much. We do, we do, and at some point
- 15:47you got to look at what the other team doesn't do well and
- 15:51exploit that or look at what they're trying to take away from
- 15:53you and do something different. You can't always just do what
- 15:56you do because at some point other teams are going to have
- 15:59better players or they're going to have better coaching.
- 16:01You've got to do your fucking job in those moments.
- 16:04But sometimes you got but you got to say, Brian, and some of
- 16:07that is when there's a time to go make a play, go make a play.
- 16:11You know, you turn around. The third quarter was high
- 16:15Achilles heels all year. And then there were times in the
- 16:18third quarter you can go make a play like, you know, you can
- 16:21have a quarterback dead to rights on 3rd and seven and just
- 16:25second and then just go ahead and change the momentum of a 7
- 16:28seven ball game and maybe do that.
- 16:30Or maybe you can be in a third and seven when you're up 21 to
- 16:33three and somebody's raggedy ass stadium and then not cheat on a,
- 16:38you know, try to cheat on a play and let a guy make a career day
- 16:41on your ass. So I mean, it's just certain
- 16:43things. You know, we going to blame the
- 16:44defense for certain stuff, but there are certain things that
- 16:48certain people do at certain times which, you know, allowing
- 16:51guys to have career days on their ass in three games that
- 16:55you lost. So I mean, you know, I'm just
- 16:57saying, you know, we just go ahead and get it out there and
- 16:59open. You're up 20.
- 17:01You know, it's 77 call. You know, Mark calls a perfect
- 17:05blitz up, put a man on the ground, Cam board scrambling out
- 17:09the back field. You know, in the fourth quarter
- 17:11you make a tackle, you end the play, get a man on the ground.
- 17:14You know, don't cheat on the 3rd 3010, keep everything in front
- 17:18of you. You're already up 21 to three.
- 17:20Get a man to the ground, do what you're supposed to do.
- 17:22So I mean, you know, we lost games like my man just said by
- 17:25combined 34 point. You know, Stephen said 34 points
- 17:29and you know, where the difference between arguing
- 17:32should we be playing in the playoffs or and all these people
- 17:36exiting or some or some people exiting not not all them because
- 17:40best of luck to all those kids, men who try to find a spot to go
- 17:43play in certain place. But, you know, we there were
- 17:46enough games we were in that, yeah, some things need to be
- 17:50changed. But I just don't believe Mark
- 17:52had all the pieces for his defense to do what he needs to
- 17:56do. He's never had.
- 17:57Well, that's what but but but. But Chris, that's on him.
- 18:00He'd been here for three seasons.
- 18:01It is. He's got to go recruit the
- 18:03pieces that he wants. Well, I mean, we got the portal
- 18:07now like you can go and you can like get what I'm saying Dome
- 18:10products and bring them in. But you did, but you know, you
- 18:13flew a helicopter 15 minutes down the road to go get your
- 18:16kids. You just didn't have another guy
- 18:17from another whole area recruited kid right out of from
- 18:20under your under your face. That's that's my thing.
- 18:23If you don't, if you don't have that kid leave to go to Georgia.
- 18:27You got a mic, you can play with Keller.
- 18:30Bring him in because that kid going to play, he going to play
- 18:32what in a couple more days? He going to get snapped to
- 18:34Georgia. He should be getting snapped to
- 18:36your he should be. He should be wearing maroon.
- 18:38He shouldn't be wearing red and black, But that's a whole other
- 18:40different thing. So, you know, I, I have my
- 18:43feelings about it. I feel like, yeah, things had
- 18:46somebody had to fall on that sword.
- 18:47They they decided the decision they had.
- 18:49I think of the of the three guys, I only really think one
- 18:55guy had all the pieces that he that he had to be able to do it.
- 18:58I think, you know, love deeds, my guy, like, like Coach Crook,
- 19:03you get an upgrade. You get an upgrade with Coach
- 19:05Moore. I mean Fergus, Fergus, an
- 19:08amazing strength and conditioning coach.
- 19:10You know, he's got histories of doing it, so that's a great
- 19:13thing. I just believe Marv never got
- 19:15his pieces. He needed a middle linebacker.
- 19:18He he, he was like peanut butter, no Jelly.
- 19:20You know, he turned around. He got a great defensive line,
- 19:23good rotation. And I'm talking when Phil Darius
- 19:26was here the year before, you had Pollard, Phil Darius, APR
- 19:30was coming on, Cole Nelson, guys were playing, but you never had
- 19:33your middle linebacker. You turn around and your safety
- 19:35play was subpar this year. So like I said, you got to be
- 19:38strong up the middle. Any defense, you got to be
- 19:39strong up the middle and we weren't.
- 19:41This is what here. This is what I want to say to
- 19:43Chris about that. Because of what Pride did,
- 19:46though, because of what Pride did, letting him go, it says I
- 19:51want to win. I give a shit about this place,
- 19:54and if you don't hold the standard here, I'm going to move
- 19:57on from you. He'd known Chris Marr since he
- 19:59was like 18 years old, that was. Awesome.
- 20:03I mean, that was part of shit, but when he did that, I texted
- 20:06tally and I texted Brian. That means he's serious because
- 20:10it's not like, oh, I'm going to I'm going to let Cheetah go.
- 20:13Well, I'm going to let this person move out.
- 20:15It's like, no, you literally set your heir apparent and said
- 20:19you're not doing a good enough job.
- 20:20You got to go. And that said it to me.
- 20:23That spoke volumes of who he let go.
- 20:26Tally, I know you're not going. You're going to hate me saying
- 20:29this, but it's you put it back up there, Brian, The the the 10
- 20:33points or 34 points, y'all, we can say this is a fucking six
- 20:38and six season. We're pissed, we're mad.
- 20:40We should have done better. But believe it or not, in my
- 20:43opinion, and I know Tally might come in and curse me out, we
- 20:47have progress this year, y'all. We were in every fudging game
- 20:52from the first snap of Vanderbilt to the last snap, we
- 20:56were. We didn't get pummeled multiple
- 20:58times like we did in 2023. Jeremy, said Fudgeon.
- 21:02Fudgeon. The problem that I deal with all
- 21:07year is it didn't matter. It didn't matter who falls on
- 21:09the sword for me, you know what I'm saying?
- 21:12Because you still got the same head coach.
- 21:14The head coach is the one who has to get the ship righted if
- 21:19he in his opinion, if that's what he's doing.
- 21:21First of all, I online coach was fucking sorry.
- 21:25I'm going to tell you right now. I tried to give him a chance and
- 21:29once I seen the things he was doing in the rotation, it was
- 21:31fucking dumb. Then there's all kind of people
- 21:33out there saying he didn't have a house there.
- 21:35He was doing stuff on Zoom calls and shit like that.
- 21:39That's fucking dumb. If you giving people money, make
- 21:42them earn their money. When I go to work, I'm in sales.
- 21:45If I don't sell, I don't eat. And guess what they're going to
- 21:47do? They're going to find my black
- 21:48ass if I don't sell. So if you don't do your job,
- 21:51you're supposed to be fired. I understand that, but I asked a
- 21:55question on Twitter X whatever you want to call it, point of I
- 21:59don't know what they call it nowadays and I just say it.
- 22:02All of the above. Everybody's, everybody's putting
- 22:06the blame on Chris Mars. Marv, Yes, he didn't do his job.
- 22:10He deserved to go perfect again. I'm still looking at that
- 22:14offensive coordinator that got every piece that he wanted back.
- 22:18We paid the offense so much money to be there, and what did
- 22:22we get? Oh, well, they got hurt.
- 22:24Well, you should have had a better fucking offensive line.
- 22:26Oh, well, this person got this. Well, you should have nurse the
- 22:30injuries better. It's a lot of stuff that goes
- 22:32into it. But we still got the head coach.
- 22:34So my thing is, I'm not saying the head coach is supposed to be
- 22:365, but I can't just go and say, well, he did this and he's
- 22:41serious about winning. Because when I look at the
- 22:43record, it shows the head coach's record.
- 22:46They don't say head coach's record with Chris Marv as his,
- 22:49as his defensive coordinator. It shows Brent Price record.
- 22:52Is this his close game record is one in fucking 15 or whatever it
- 22:58is. At some point you got to say
- 23:00even when he was there, it's it's one in 12 or something like
- 23:05that. But my thing is, what would it
- 23:08show me if you serious? If you said, hey man, you ain't
- 23:12doing a good job. I'm going to have to take over.
- 23:13I'll fire him during the year. I don't care what you do.
- 23:16That's when I would have said, OK, you're serious.
- 23:18I think what this shows me is that that seat is not hot and
- 23:23that noises got loud. They pay attention to Twitter.
- 23:26They pay attention to fans. They know what people say.
- 23:29They know what the big donors are saying.
- 23:31Hey man, you got to fucking win. You want us to come out and
- 23:33support you doing a good job of kissing babies and and shaking
- 23:37hands, but we don't give a fuck about that.
- 23:40At the end of the day, you got to put some wins together.
- 23:42So what are we going to do? What?
- 23:45What's the next step? You know what I'm saying?
- 23:48Now the online hire, which is I think a good one.
- 23:53I think it's a good hire. When's the last time we had a
- 23:57coach come in? See, I'm not trying to take
- 24:01over, but I'm just saying the online coach comes in and then
- 24:04he gets a kid that comes right with it.
- 24:06Our fucking head coach came in and didn't get kids to come with
- 24:08it. Like that's that's a, when you
- 24:11look at a hire, a big hire, that's a big hire.
- 24:14You know what I'm saying? That he's got so much
- 24:17credibility with the kids that are around him.
- 24:20They're willing to put their future in his hands at a
- 24:22different place. You know what I'm saying?
- 24:24I don't know much about before I know a little bit up, you know,
- 24:28I did some research and things like that, But this one kid
- 24:31that's a pretty good offensive lineman is saying this coach is
- 24:34good enough for me to follow him to a six and six team so I can
- 24:38see where my career is going to go.
- 24:41That's that's that's that's. That's a big boy.
- 24:43Yeah, That's that's that's I need.
- 24:46I need I need pride to and I like pride.
- 24:51I mean, I know if you see this coach, thank you for coming on
- 24:54the show, but I got to keep it real.
- 24:56You never got to talk to me again If you just go fucking
- 24:58win. That's all I want to do.
- 25:00Go fucking win. Go do what you're supposed to
- 25:03do. When you got the pieces, you got
- 25:05to know how to do it. Stop being friendly.
- 25:07Cut somebody out on the sidelines, tell them ref to get
- 25:10their fucking whistle out of their ass and blow it when they
- 25:13supposed to Hell, get a penalty. Do something I need to see.
- 25:17You can't keep losing get I I go back to the analogy what I said.
- 25:21If I walk in the house to my I won't even say to my wife.
- 25:23I use that. I'll say to my kids.
- 25:25If I tell my son, hey, man, I'm going to make it to your game.
- 25:28I'm going to try my best to make it this time.
- 25:30Oh, I'm sorry, man, I didn't make it.
- 25:32I got caught up at work. Sooner or later that
- 25:34motherfucker's going to tell me. Hey, man, you said you're going
- 25:37to make it. What's going on?
- 25:39You got to be held accountable, probably.
- 25:40You can't keep going and saying we're going to do this if we're
- 25:43going to make it work like it's year, it's year 3, buddy.
- 25:46It's over it's year 4 now. You know what I'm saying?
- 25:49Like there's no more. I'm trying to figure it out.
- 25:52You fucking have figured it out and you got to go and win.
- 25:56You got it. The games that you're supposed
- 25:57to win go in. Stop the hiding.
- 26:00You got Kyron walking around they.
- 26:03Anyway, I'm gonna stop right now.
- 26:04We'll get on that later. Callie brings up a really good
- 26:10point, and I've been saying it for years.
- 26:12You build your offense around an offensive line.
- 26:14You can't get a poverty offensive line and expect your
- 26:18skilled positions to stay protected and do their jobs.
- 26:22It's impossible. We were lucky we were able to.
- 26:25Have the Jeremy Jeremy, remember what you're saying, but I won't
- 26:28Matty B is is is a cool me and Maddie talk pretty good, but I
- 26:32want to put that up. I want you to put that up what
- 26:35Matty B says right there which. One these two tally.
- 26:40The first one. The first one.
- 26:43I got it. So so Matty B says look at
- 26:50Schlee and Pop, look at Schlee and Pop's game.
- 26:52Kyron isn't any good. Same offensive coordinator,
- 26:55totally different execution. Schlee got fucking hurt.
- 26:59What are you talking about? Schlee got fucking knocked out
- 27:02of the game. So what game am I watching that
- 27:04Schlee did so good the offensive line got him fucking pummeled as
- 27:08well. And then Pop played against and
- 27:11then Pop got pumped against Duke and then he just, I don't know,
- 27:15against a fucking sorry ass UVA. Then hot fat ass could have got
- 27:19out there and played against quarterback against them.
- 27:21I could have put Curtis Little boys out there and we would have
- 27:24still fucking beat UVA. Come on.
- 27:28That's the kind of that's the things.
- 27:30That's the things that get me when people with fans get on
- 27:33here and they say stupid ass shit.
- 27:35Maddie, you're a cool dude, but I got to check you when you're
- 27:37talking dumb. You said, you said.
- 27:39No, Maddie, it's not a cool dude.
- 27:41Put his next. Comment up, he said.
- 27:44He said Kyrie. Isn't.
- 27:46Any different look at pop and we still fucking lost the game.
- 27:52We still fucking. Lost.
- 27:55It don't matter who was playing. We was losing and and then
- 27:58people told me the offensive coordinator, we scored 30
- 28:02points. Well, if you can score fucking
- 28:0350 points and you score 30, you ain't doing good.
- 28:07I'm just saying, man, we had people sitting on the bench that
- 28:10could play, whether it was our starting quarterback was hurt in
- 28:14Vanderbilt. I was sitting in the stands by
- 28:16my boy Greg. Shout out to Greg and his
- 28:18family's dad's awesome. I'm sitting by them and I said
- 28:21Karen's hurt. Y'all, y'all understand that,
- 28:23right? I've never seen a football
- 28:25player of his statue go down on his face and they said it's
- 28:30cramps. Well guess what?
- 28:32His fucking ribs was hurt and guess what?
- 28:35Our coaches did put it back. In the game.
- 28:38Back in the game. He hurt his ankle, he hurt his
- 28:40ribs, he hurt his shoulder, he hurt he one time he walked out
- 28:44of a game with a knee brace on one leg and A and and and a boot
- 28:49on the other one. I got fans to tell me that he is
- 28:52no good. OK, man, you better know what
- 28:55you're talking about before you start calling these kids.
- 28:57Sorry. I'm just saying the the grown
- 28:59men that make more money than those kids or as much money as
- 29:03those kids, what they grown to. I ain't saying the kids don't
- 29:05deserve some scrutiny, but I'm telling y'all, the coaches knew
- 29:09more stuff than what they let y'all know.
- 29:12They let they didn't let y'all know a lot of stuff and some of
- 29:15those players put them bullets for those coaches and that's
- 29:19bullshit. That's what I'm upset about for
- 29:21this whole year. Well, Tally, we we discussed
- 29:24that throughout the year numerous times.
- 29:25And what pissed you the fuck off is you go get a six year
- 29:28quarterback and if Kyra's hurt, it's like you have a fucking
- 29:32backup for a reason. Put him in, play him.
- 29:36Yep, that's on you and I, and I know.
- 29:39And I love Coach Pride too. Please come back on with us,
- 29:41Coach Pride. But he.
- 29:45He will at the same time. But I know he will.
- 29:48Yeah, but. But the whole piece that goes to
- 29:50that is you brought him in if Kyron's hurt and you know he's
- 29:53banging because I know Brian played the collegiate level,
- 29:57Tally played the collegiate level.
- 29:58Jeremy, you played high school ball.
- 30:01Y'all. Aren't going to ever tell
- 30:02anybody you're too fucking hurt to play.
- 30:04You're going to try to. Tell anybody.
- 30:05That. You can't be in your hands it.
- 30:09Might be in your hands, it can't be in your, it can't be in the
- 30:12players hands. Right, but you're.
- 30:15Going to end up having somebody out here like Muhammad Ali, but
- 30:18I got older. I used to dislocate my shoulder
- 30:22and pop it back into place and. Keep quiet, but.
- 30:25I but here's here's the problem that I feel more than anything.
- 30:28Yeah, he got he got banged at Vanderbilt and he fought through
- 30:32it. The only time I only time I
- 30:33really, I was infuriated is when he did get hurt at Rutgers.
- 30:37And he damn, that's that's when he for sure got hurt and they
- 30:42made a joke about it, which pissed me off.
- 30:44But there, there couldn't have been.
- 30:45There was not going to be a coach prepared or anything that
- 30:49was going to keep him from playing against Miami.
- 30:51And they're about the problem because if you're going to do
- 30:54it, if you turned around as we watch the season go along, he
- 30:58didn't play great against Marshall, but he got passing.
- 31:02He did his thing against ODU, but when he got hurt against
- 31:05Rutgers, he was not going to miss that Miami game no matter
- 31:09what. That was his best game of the
- 31:11season by far. That was his best game.
- 31:14We won. That fucking game.
- 31:16Well, well, yeah, but there there lies another problem in
- 31:20that because, you know, you can't be running around
- 31:24complaining in places saying people the offense is hokey and
- 31:29stuff like that, pun intended, and not do your fucking job.
- 31:35You can't lead in hey, man, just go on with it, man.
- 31:38You can't lead in drops, man. You can't fucking lead in drops,
- 31:43man. You can't and talk shit about
- 31:46the program or have your family talk shit about the program.
- 31:49You know, and, and that didn't make any kind of sense.
- 31:52But that boy is out there on one foot.
- 31:54He wasn't going to miss the Miami game.
- 31:56So if you, if he, if you turn around and know he's hurt, he
- 32:00plays great in Miami, then you go ahead and play Slee against
- 32:04Stanford. You play Slee going down, down
- 32:07the stretch, you know, or whatever.
- 32:09Until he's a. Couple of games until he's
- 32:11ready, but with his foot, the thing about the the biggest
- 32:14thing about a foot injury, depending on what it is, if it's
- 32:17spraying, we can work through it.
- 32:18If it's broke, that's a longer injury than anybody can expect,
- 32:22especially for a mobile quarterback.
- 32:24His feet are so important to what he does that Kyron is just
- 32:30such a a great kid and a hard worker and a guy that's going to
- 32:35fight, man. It's a it it, it was just to
- 32:39watch him go and take the take the arrows that he took, man and
- 32:43never said nothing negative man never.
- 32:45And still didn't leave, still didn't leave when he got when he
- 32:48got his degree. Still, still.
- 32:49Yeah. When?
- 32:49He got his degree, man. I love that kid, man.
- 32:51I'm real talk, man. He, he just, he just did more,
- 32:55you know, but but Kevin says something to me, man.
- 32:58Me and him were we at TOTS and we was drinking, you know,
- 33:02Virginia, Shirley Temples, man. He gave me one statement that I
- 33:05will always hold true, man, People think they matter and we
- 33:10and people love the fans. I love the fans.
- 33:13I love people like. But sometimes, man, you got to
- 33:15understand this thing is more than football and that boy loves
- 33:18it here. There is not a there's not an
- 33:21ounce of him that does not love it here.
- 33:23He loves Virginia Tech, he loves hockey nation.
- 33:27So for them, you know, to just drag him the way they did, no
- 33:31seeing that he was deficient, a lot of that go a lot of that go
- 33:36to, you know, coaching. But they wanted to let him tough
- 33:38it out. But they did the same thing with
- 33:39Wells. They're going to give a guy the
- 33:42ability to tough it out. And sometimes you like y'all
- 33:44said man, you got to protect that kid from himself.
- 33:47Sometimes you can't give somebody enough rope to hang
- 33:50themselves and put themselves in a situation where they get
- 33:53themselves hurt more and where they are hurting their team,
- 33:56unfortunately, because they aren't the person that they can
- 34:00be and they aren't the player that they can be given those
- 34:02limitations. Now, Jeremy, I do want you to
- 34:05weigh in. What is the amount here?
- 34:07How much goddamn Toradol did they feed Chiron this year?
- 34:10Are his kidneys OK? Toradol is notoriously hard on
- 34:14your kidneys. You give a lot of Toradol, it's
- 34:17going to rough him up. But I will say he is tough and
- 34:20he is a big guy and he can handle it.
- 34:24He's young. But but Jeremy, he wasn't the
- 34:29only one. Yeah, Jeremy, he wasn't the only
- 34:31one walking around there dying. You asked Steven Gosnell, coming
- 34:35coming off of ACL, less than damn a year turned around.
- 34:39He's got a broken rib and bruised ribs diving from
- 34:43footballs, giving it everything he got, man.
- 34:46I, I, I just don't have no empathy for anybody saying, oh,
- 34:50hey, this wasn't perfectly placed or stuff like that.
- 34:52Man, go catch the goddamn football, man when it's thrown
- 34:55to you. Yeah, my entire thing is like,
- 35:00these kids are hurt. We got to save them from
- 35:01themselves. But the coaching staff, the
- 35:04pressure they were under because every game felt like a must win
- 35:07game because we had such high expectations.
- 35:09And I think that drove a lot of it.
- 35:11And I put a lot of that blame on the coaching staff squarely
- 35:15because we've got to take care of these guys because you're not
- 35:18just risking, oh, you know, you're going to aggravate an
- 35:20injury and they're going to be out longer.
- 35:22You're risking their long term health and they've got an entire
- 35:25entire life to think of. They're going to be carrying
- 35:27this the rest of their life. We've got to take care of them.
- 35:31Yeah. But I think and that came to the
- 35:33point where go ahead, Dan. Go ahead, Dan.
- 35:35But like, we're talking about injuries, and some of these
- 35:39injuries were created by the offensive line.
- 35:47Every single fucking. Injury.
- 35:50Except for Jalen Stroman, every single fucking injury was on the
- 35:53offensive line. It's more of an indictment on
- 35:56Rod Crook that Matt Moore has been here 3 days and has had
- 36:00more movement in the portal than he did in two portals.
- 36:04And if he's bringing the horses? If he's bringing.
- 36:07The horses. Maybe we can remember what
- 36:09you're saying. Let's talk about this because I
- 36:11don't know what Ron. Where is Ron Crook from?
- 36:14Where is he from? Is he from West?
- 36:15Virginia. He's from West Virginia.
- 36:18OK, so he out there with the heels have eyes, people.
- 36:20All right, Ron, this is what I need you to go do, man.
- 36:24I need you to go take your pension that you got.
- 36:29Go fishing. Whack your meat into the water.
- 36:34Maybe some fish will eat it. Never sit foot again in
- 36:38Blacksburg. Never, never sit foot again in
- 36:41Blacksburg because you did not recruit.
- 36:44You was there for however many years.
- 36:46I'll say to you, one year is enough.
- 36:48And you don't go get no Lyman. You get no Lyman.
- 36:52Man, the place where we need to help the most, you know, black,
- 36:57heady and then we there's. Eggs in the water, No.
- 37:01And we and we never and we never seen him and we never seen him.
- 37:05We've never seen Cunningham. And neither.
- 37:10One of the other you never seen. Him Cunningham had his, I mean
- 37:14the head of his Dick in the two deep but like Freddy didn't even
- 37:17sniff that. Shit Freddy like.
- 37:19I think Freddy. Freddy quit.
- 37:21I think he quit football. That's OK.
- 37:25Ron Crook, you deserve you are a war criminal.
- 37:28Ron Crook, you are a war criminal.
- 37:29For what you did in West Warren, you got every single person on
- 37:35our fucking team hurt and you was doing zoom meetings to coach
- 37:39an offensive line. You deserve to have your ass
- 37:41whooped and probably you should have been the one to whoop his
- 37:44ass. That's ridiculous.
- 37:48The office of line coach the the office of line coach is horrible
- 37:52and the and the strength and condition coach is horrible.
- 37:55Is that crazy? Am I crazy for?
- 37:58Well, that's the people that got fired.
- 37:59Hey, that's the people. You are on both of those, Ally.
- 38:03These are the people we can. Jump on these are our wonderful
- 38:06scapegoats that we get to have and just like brutalize like
- 38:09it's great. I just don't.
- 38:11I also love the judgment's. Issue I I didn't jump, I didn't
- 38:14jump in and then. Taylor's night.
- 38:16Don't go back to Blacksburg. We'll murder you.
- 38:19I. Because I just don't understand
- 38:21it man. I just, I just really don't
- 38:23understand it because my mentality, like I understand
- 38:28they have to be professional and I'm glad they are, but I see
- 38:31coaches who are successful who aren't as professional as our
- 38:36coaches. Like the only thing that I can
- 38:38say about Marv, because I know some people who kind of know
- 38:41Marv personally and I kind of, I know he was trying to go through
- 38:45the job and get it done the right way.
- 38:48But at the same time, like, I need you to nut up a little bit.
- 38:51If things ain't going right, you got to let somebody know.
- 38:53Closed mouths don't get fed. I didn't see you throwing no
- 38:56hats on the sideline. I need to see a motherfucker
- 38:59like Kirby Smart used to be on that sideline when he was the
- 39:02defensive coordinator. Like like Will Muschamp used to
- 39:05be like, come on, man. Like show some kind of like that
- 39:08cool shit got to be out the window when you keep losing
- 39:11games. And then we keep talking about
- 39:15next week we're going to get better or next week we're going
- 39:17to No, man, you got to fix it. You got to nut up.
- 39:20Sometimes it just pisses. Me off when I look back over the
- 39:31season and I've been waiting to unload this of this show just so
- 39:35I could talk about like the bullshit that we had to go
- 39:38through and we had to see. And again, I know they had to be
- 39:42professional, but fuck the professionalism when you keep
- 39:44losing. I fucking hate Patton Arduzzi,
- 39:47not as a person, but just like as a coach, but I respect the
- 39:50hell out of him because he on that sideline, he trying to do
- 39:54anything he can to win anything he can to win, cheat, shoot cags
- 39:59on the players. He don't care.
- 40:00Like I anything that they say Darduzzi did, I'll be like,
- 40:03yeah, that motherfucker did it. You know what I'm saying?
- 40:05Like if they was like he slashed the coach's tires before we got
- 40:08to the game, I'd be like, yeah, he probably did that.
- 40:10But I can look at him. I I can look at him and tell
- 40:14that motherfucker wants to win the game.
- 40:17He may not win them all, but he wants to.
- 40:19Our coaches, they were just cool.
- 40:22There's a time and. Trace to be even man.
- 40:25You have the. Time and a place to be even
- 40:26killed. But there's also a time.
- 40:28And a place where you got to light fire somebody's ass.
- 40:31Yeah. Because you got players always
- 40:34just. Lead with that I will you know,
- 40:37we, we, we should have did this. We could have did this.
- 40:39At some point you got to light a fire under your ass, the
- 40:43player's ass, the referee's ass. You got to get.
- 40:47I wanted something fashion into this thing so.
- 40:50You're as pissed off as the fans feel like in that moment,
- 40:53because the fans feel like it sometimes.
- 40:55Like you got to match our energy just a little bit.
- 40:59Yeah, as talent. Has.
- 41:00Nut up or go nut in the river. Go ahead and.
- 41:02Certain and certain things like certain things as.
- 41:07Maybe the fish will come to you. Everybody knows I love Brent
- 41:10Pryor. Everybody knows I love Brent
- 41:11Pryor, right? But like when that shit happened
- 41:14in the season that that they talked about on the, I don't
- 41:17know where they talked about it, but like there was that issue
- 41:20with the offensive line amongst each other and it ended up being
- 41:23them versus crook. Like you got to step like at
- 41:26some point, probably should have been like, I don't give a fuck.
- 41:29Like Parker Clemens is like, he's sitting down like we're
- 41:32like, we're changing some shit on this line because too many of
- 41:35the people that we invested a lot of money in are getting
- 41:37fucked up. But I I've, I've had this
- 41:42argument over and over on Twitter all year long.
- 41:46Goes back to the fact of the matter that you didn't recruit
- 41:49guys when he got here. The way Rudolph left your
- 41:52system. Fine Garrett.
- 41:55Garrett could play, but Chaplin that when Chaplin got hurt
- 42:00against ODU that affected a lot more things than what we on the
- 42:04outside thought about with him being hurt and playing through
- 42:07that. You couldn't make Garrett your
- 42:10full time right tackle That would have that probably would
- 42:13have ended some some stuff. You probably don't get Tyron
- 42:16hurt against Rutgers if Johnny Garrett is your full time right
- 42:21tackle, but Taplin kept getting hurt.
- 42:23Right, but they benched, they benched Chick.
- 42:27Why couldn't they bench Parker? Well, because you didn't.
- 42:30Want the right? You didn't have another tackle.
- 42:33The the issue, what he was saying in this case is you have
- 42:35to be smart in your in your death chart protection because X
- 42:40got banged and you're starting Johnny, then you've completely
- 42:43fucked up your rotation because at that point.
- 42:46It's ex. Tablet got hurt every week.
- 42:49No, he's he. He got hurt.
- 42:51I watched that man get carted off and come back to the next
- 42:53series like that man was getting hurt.
- 42:57Yeah, when he got when he got hurt at O to you and you turned
- 43:00around and you played, you know, musical chairs then, but he kept
- 43:03getting hurt. So you know, that was kind of
- 43:06the point. Hey bench Parker play Johnny at
- 43:10the right and and just ride with it.
- 43:12You know, Leigh Ganem getting hurt and not being that's that's
- 43:16kind of only reason why you saw Bob Schick, because Leigh got
- 43:19hurt. They were going to go through
- 43:20the they were going to go through the growing pains of
- 43:23getting late to the point that he could go.
- 43:25So it, you know, not him, not crook, not not recruiting more
- 43:31guys or getting able to get some other guys in the portal.
- 43:33That was it. You know, I was sitting there
- 43:35earlier today whenever I was talking about these guys from
- 43:37West Virginia coming, I was like, oh, well, you might lose
- 43:39this guy. This guy might you got to man,
- 43:41you got to have 12 guys in that in for a whole line.
- 43:44You got to have 12 guys and guys fighting.
- 43:46Entries that don't happen. This don't happen.
- 43:49Don't happen. The people get complacent.
- 43:51The. Other piece we always talk about
- 43:53on this, and Brian and Tally always attest to it, is there
- 43:56are some people that do not practice well.
- 43:59They play well, they do not practice well.
- 44:02And it's always that discussion was was whoever was at right
- 44:05tackle, whether it was Cunningham, Johnny, or they just
- 44:07didn't look good in practice, in where you put some people on the
- 44:11field in a game, they're absolute animals.
- 44:13They're the best player you've ever seen.
- 44:14You put them in practice, they're thinking, you put them
- 44:17on the field. There's no thought.
- 44:19It's attack. And I think that's where we all
- 44:21wanted to be at some point in the season, like just try
- 44:24something. He is, he is a liability.
- 44:27He's already got people hurt. Just try something.
- 44:30If you try something that might have saved your job, because it
- 44:33might have been, you put Cunningham out there, he starts
- 44:35running through people. It's like, oh, wait a second, we
- 44:37figured something out, right? Yeah.
- 44:40Completely different in every sport.
- 44:43You see kids get in a cage in baseball, tally your son, you
- 44:46know this and they cream it. You put them up there in a plate
- 44:50live game situation, they back out.
- 44:52They don't know what the fuck to do.
- 44:54You. Have to just let people go.
- 44:56During the game. We had.
- 44:57Let's talk about Marshall. Game In the ODU game, there were
- 45:01times that you could have just said I'm going to do this the
- 45:05whole half. Part of coach.
- 45:08Evaluation. Part of coach evaluation is not
- 45:11just saying who is my best guy right now.
- 45:14It's also saying and being able to evaluate what's this guy's
- 45:18ceiling, what is his potential, what can he give me if he can
- 45:21put the pieces together, and what is it going to take for him
- 45:24to put those pieces together. And sometimes what it fucking
- 45:26takes is live snaps against opponent that you don't mind
- 45:30hitting the fuck out of every day.
- 45:32Sometimes it takes. It takes those types of.
- 45:34Reps to get a guy right and, and sometimes you got to understand
- 45:39that if I want to reach my greatest potential, I've got to
- 45:42get that guy out there more regularly.
- 45:44Whether he's a full time starter, whether he's a part
- 45:46time or whatever he is, you got to get him on the field so you
- 45:51can realize and maximize your potential as a group.
- 45:54There's also weird internal. Politics when it comes to teams
- 45:57like there, there, there is like there's like this weird
- 46:01hierarchy and if you show out at a certain way, it's it's odd.
- 46:06Yeah, right. You got to when you when you are
- 46:09a losing program, hate to say it or a mid program, you have to
- 46:14throw that stuff out. You have to find a way and
- 46:16that's what they're recruiting kids and saying.
- 46:17That's why I was I was about to bring this up.
- 46:19Glad you said that, Jeremy. Somebody said, somebody said
- 46:25earlier, yes, he does. Somebody said earlier that Chris
- 46:30Chris was a a player parent. I can't remember exactly what
- 46:34the comment said, but it pretty. Much said.
- 46:35Let me pull it up here in the show.
- 46:37Yeah, pull it up. It's about a pawn shop owner or
- 46:40some shit. I don't.
- 46:42Wrong one pawn shop owner. He's a pawn.
- 46:44Shop. Hold on.
- 46:45This right here. There you go.
- 46:46This is what you want to talk to Tally?
- 46:48That was Jr. Yeah.
- 46:49So he says. He says no, that wasn't it.
- 46:53Not that, not that one. It was a different one.
- 46:55What just popped up on the screen for me, that's it.
- 46:59That's the one right there. Dance of Saturday.
- 47:02But he says Mr. Less, I work in the pawn shop industry for
- 47:04years. The hardest part of making a
- 47:06deal was something about the sentimental value is gone now.
- 47:08But you're a player parent. So this well, Mr. Dance of of
- 47:13Saturday, they let you go and I'll let Chris talk for himself
- 47:17because he's grown and he can't. But I can tell you Chris's kid
- 47:21that is at Virginia Tech was a high level recruit that came in
- 47:26and didn't catch a pass this year.
- 47:28So if his sentimental value for his kid was that high, he would
- 47:33have been in transfer portal. He wouldn't be sitting here
- 47:36talking to us. He's talking about what he
- 47:39seems. As a Virginia Tech fan, I talked
- 47:42to Chris a lot of times and his bias toward his kid has nothing
- 47:47to do with what we're talking about here.
- 47:48I don't know if you thought he was Kyron's daddy and and you
- 47:51said that he just black. He ain't his daddy.
- 47:53He's a different black dude. I don't know what it is, but
- 47:57seriously, I'm joking around. But seriously, if if you look at
- 48:02Chris's child, Chris's kid that's on the team, young man,
- 48:06he he could have a different opinion about the coaching
- 48:10styles and the coaching for things that his kids might his
- 48:13kid did or didn't get. I ain't saying that he expected
- 48:16or didn't, but I'm just saying you got to sometimes until you
- 48:21talk to that person, you don't really know.
- 48:23So I seen that. And then when Jeremy said about
- 48:26the hierarchy of football, because I'm going to say this,
- 48:28Chris don't have to say it, we had wide receivers sitting on.
- 48:32We had wide receivers sitting on the bench that could have made
- 48:35plays at some of our wide receivers that were in the game
- 48:37couldn't. Ally Jennings is a great, is a
- 48:40great football player. He's a great receiver when he's
- 48:44healthy, but when he's hurt, he can't it's certain things that
- 48:47he can't do the things that he's good at going high point in the
- 48:50ball. He can't do it when he's got a a
- 48:53bomb hamstring. We had some kids on the bench
- 48:56that may have could have gave us that.
- 48:57You know, Quan Felton is a is a big body receiver that you
- 49:02expect to go and maybe be like a third down receiver sometimes
- 49:06stretch the field for you. But he didn't have that top end
- 49:09speed that some of the kids on the bench had.
- 49:12And I feel like sometimes the coaches just stuck with what
- 49:15they had instead of making a change to say let me see what
- 49:19this kid can do and what we all. We all I know what they can do
- 49:24and I can't get this. I was on this show.
- 49:28This ain't something that I'm making up.
- 49:29If you just now getting started listening to BCP, go back and
- 49:33listen to it. I can't remember what show it
- 49:34is. Coach probably was on here and
- 49:36he said, he said, I'm, I tell the kids I'm bringing in
- 49:41somebody to take your job. But when you go and recruit a
- 49:44kid and you tell them that and you tell them that and they get
- 49:47there and that kid is not performing and you don't switch
- 49:50them out, whether it's the quarterback, the wide receiver,
- 49:52the right tackle, the credibility gets lost in
- 49:55translation. So we got to fix that.
- 49:57I don't got to fix it. I'm just going to watch it
- 49:59critique the coaching staff has to fix it.
- 50:02So I just want to bring that not not, you know, knocking on what
- 50:05you're saying. We appreciate you watching the
- 50:07show and I'm glad you're coming. But I wanted to hit on that a
- 50:10little bit. Chris, you can you can say what
- 50:11you need to. Yeah, and we, we like having
- 50:13these type of discussions and like, you know, call us out.
- 50:16We'll we'll call you out. That's how this thing works.
- 50:18Chris, I'm going to let you say your piece here and I'm going to
- 50:21jump in on something else that Dad's a Saturday put in here
- 50:23after that. Yeah, I, I just, I guess this is
- 50:27the hardest part for me because we're friends and and I talked
- 50:32to you guys, you know, we text each other back.
- 50:34So I have a fondness for y'all, man.
- 50:38You know, Jeremy took care of my kid this year, man, you know, at
- 50:41the drop of a hat, man. So, you know, it's different.
- 50:45Yeah, I know it's different. Dan.
- 50:47Dan's one of the reasons that we're here because the crib is
- 50:49the crib. So when people say stuff like
- 50:52that, man, what? They fail to realize that I'm a
- 50:55complete football owner, OK, I am the absolute.
- 50:59I'm probably one of the nerdiest football guys y'all will ever
- 51:02come across. It just so happened my kid is
- 51:04talented. If anybody know me, I'll name
- 51:07everybody else's kid before I name mine, OK?
- 51:11I do that on a regular basis. So my whole thing is when you
- 51:16see certain things happening, wasn't promised anything.
- 51:20We dropped that kid off last year or this year and the coach
- 51:23before, we let him say, hey, I'm trying to find somebody to come
- 51:25replace you. That's what he said.
- 51:27That's one of the things he said.
- 51:28So a lot of those kids dealt with that with those four guys,
- 51:32those four guys coming back and it was a great thing that they
- 51:35did. But once those guys start seeing
- 51:38that I'm as good or I'm at the same level or I can be more than
- 51:43it, it got to the point where people are looking like put him
- 51:47in and let him go. You know, perfect example, we
- 51:51got a kid that left who was here and, you know, good kid, solid
- 51:59family, great kid. But sometimes you couldn't trust
- 52:03him to do certain things. And so those are the things
- 52:06that, you know, that's when we say it's more than football.
- 52:09You they got to be able to trust you when they going to do
- 52:12certain things. And so it's a lot.
- 52:14Ali's going, Ali's going to get this opportunity, man.
- 52:16He's going to play with us during this ball game.
- 52:19And I hope things work out that he has some good film, good
- 52:21tape, He doesn't get injured and he get to go pursue his football
- 52:24dream elsewhere. But you know, guys will guys
- 52:29will want certain things to happen.
- 52:31And when it didn't happen, they got they got it was a mental
- 52:35block with certain stuff, man. And I'm just glad that, you
- 52:39know, the guys who got over that hurdle mentally and said, Hey,
- 52:43I'm going to come. I'm going to use this time and
- 52:45go forward. But man, the last thing last
- 52:49thing I am is, oh, I'm going to sit up here and campaign for my
- 52:53kid to play because he got to go do that.
- 52:56That's his job. He got to go be great at his
- 52:58job. They know what he can do.
- 53:00And that's going to be, that's going to be, that's going to
- 53:01work out. Can I give Chris credit for like
- 53:043 seconds here? Go for it.
- 53:06This man knew. He knew this year, he knew
- 53:10Keelan wasn't going to, he wasn't going to go to a game and
- 53:15watch his son really get in the game.
- 53:17He came to every game. He went to all sorts of
- 53:21tailgates around the community, especially mine, because he
- 53:24knows if he needs the love, he needs the bourbon, he needs the
- 53:27cigar. He's got the cigars.
- 53:29Him and Big James Clark. They're coming to the the
- 53:32Bourbon Goblers tailgate shout out, Nate, Steven, whatever.
- 53:36But like, he knew like he came because he loved what was going
- 53:41on. He loved.
- 53:41Folks, I'm not. Like watching the Hokies.
- 53:43Like. Hold up Dan, hold up Dan.
- 53:45I'm not soft on criticizing somebody, kid.
- 53:47I know these folks families. I know these folks families.
- 53:50It ain't this ain't this like this is my whole family.
- 53:54So I'm not going to cut. Hey, if you sitting and you see
- 53:57somebody doing something, I still got to go see that folks
- 54:01family. You know what I'm saying
- 54:03criticizing him doesn't doesn't make it to the point that I'm
- 54:06soft on him. I'm just saying he know what he
- 54:08got to work on. I ain't got to make him work on
- 54:10it. He know what he got to work on.
- 54:12This this thing for football is for a period of time and it's
- 54:16it's a you got so many snaps, so many times you're going to get
- 54:20to play and there's going to come a time where you're not
- 54:22going to be play no more. My critiquing him about what he
- 54:25is is sitting there saying, Oh, my kids better.
- 54:27Oh my, my wife has got on me for years for calling kids.
- 54:30Sorry. At games.
- 54:34My wife, brother, you, you have no idea how many I was.
- 54:38Like she's like, you need to sit.
- 54:39Down that's a reflection on Keith he suck I can't be doing
- 54:42that to folks kids. You can't do that and sit in the
- 54:45stand with them folks, kid, if their kids parents are sitting
- 54:48right there, that's stupid, that's ignorant and that's
- 54:51that's not intelligent to do to people, man no, it's.
- 54:53Not this. Is wrong bro.
- 54:55So I want to tell Dad. Can I say something real quick,
- 54:57Chris? I don't tell.
- 54:59Dad's a Saturday. Me and Brian and Tally got to
- 55:02sit in that section last year. You remember that, Game Boys?
- 55:07Oh, yeah, You remember. Yeah, They grew up.
- 55:08That was a. That was a true.
- 55:09Game and I remember we've been up.
- 55:11To y'all. Fans, y'all, they go to kids,
- 55:14all the kids families around. US parents Rough.
- 55:16And it's like it's if that's being respectful, you can,
- 55:20that's being respectful. Because Chris, I know for you,
- 55:22how many times did you have to walk up the steps going to the
- 55:24bathroom and just say something real bad?
- 55:26Come back 5. Hours later, I was my, my, my
- 55:29lips bled every daggone time because I don't know whose
- 55:34family was around me, man. First game of the season, man.
- 55:37I was like, yo, get such and such out.
- 55:40I got Johnny Garrett's family right on my daggone shoulder.
- 55:43They like, yeah, they sitting there, they just shaking their
- 55:46head, you know, I got Montanus Cunningham's family sitting
- 55:49right next to me, You know what I'm saying?
- 55:51And I got to sit there and be like, I can't say certain stuff.
- 55:54So I'm like, hey, it is. What?
- 55:57Yeah, that ain't that, ain't that, ain't we all being soft on
- 55:59criticizing kids that caught being smart, people who hide
- 56:03behind that people who hide behind like I told people and I
- 56:07ain't saying like that's a Saturday.
- 56:09I, I, he's, he's been around for a while.
- 56:11We've talked on on Twitter a couple of times.
- 56:14But again, I don't know y'all, I don't know what y'all fucking
- 56:17look like. Everybody knows what I look
- 56:20like. The shit that I say.
- 56:22I'm going to stand 10 toes beside it every time I'm going
- 56:26to get on here. I'm going to show my face and
- 56:28whatever come behind it, going to come behind it.
- 56:30However I feel about a coach, however I feel about a player.
- 56:33Y'all say shit and you hide behind burners.
- 56:36That's why you feel comfortable to say it.
- 56:38If you feel like you can do it, say some of the stuff you can
- 56:41say. Say it in front of them parents
- 56:43say it in front of them kids and you I promise you these when you
- 56:47talking kids, these ain't no kids.
- 56:49These is men. These are some grown big ass
- 56:51people and and I'm telling you and the Mamas be worse than the
- 56:55dad is like I think I can handle a man like a dad.
- 56:59Like I'm sitting in the stands and I'm listening at some of the
- 57:01moms talk and seeing some of the moms reacting.
- 57:04I'm like man, I definitely don't want to be on her bad side.
- 57:07You know what I'm saying? Talk about her bad in her cub.
- 57:10I have. Sat in the I have sat in the
- 57:12parents section a couple times and I remember Chamari Connor's
- 57:15parents and Tisdale's parents going crazy on their kids like
- 57:19it's they, they, they let it fly.
- 57:22Yeah, they let it. Go and I think I think the other
- 57:24thing to think about like you know, it was talking about like,
- 57:26you know, add nuance to it and like players, you know players
- 57:30parents are going to be solved on criticize play.
- 57:32No, they won't. No, they will not.
- 57:35They won't that's. Somebody who?
- 57:36I'll tell you. What else?
- 57:38I, I, I play collegiate football.
- 57:40I know what the process is about.
- 57:42I know what looks good. I know what doesn't.
- 57:44I'm going to say it. I still sympathize with what
- 57:48those players are going through and how fucking tough what
- 57:50they're doing is. Yes, Sir.
- 57:52But at the end of the day, I like the reason we do this was
- 57:55because we want to try to get better and get to where we want
- 57:58to be. And this is the thing, and this
- 58:00is the thing too as well, Brian, just to throw something else in
- 58:03now because, you know, being playing sports growing up long
- 58:07removed. I'm, I'm, I'm a fan now, but my
- 58:10son, my son plays basketball, baseball and football.
- 58:13So I'm watching, I'm watching him play, but like his baseball
- 58:19team, we'll just go that he plays travel baseball.
- 58:22That's the sport that he plays the most stuff.
- 58:27And I've been with these parents for probably six to seven years
- 58:31on most of the key with most of the kids.
- 58:33If anybody follows me on like Facebook or or TikTok and stuff,
- 58:36you'll see I'm interviewing kids and cutting up with them and
- 58:39stuff like that. But I don't watch these kids
- 58:41grow up. So when we had a baseball and
- 58:43I'm very I'm I'm that parent, that's if the other team does
- 58:46some good, I'm going to I'm going to say, hey, especially in
- 58:49baseball, if the other team does something good, I'm going to
- 58:51say, hey, good hustle, man. You know, they 14, you know,
- 58:54Hey, that's great play. Good hit, better, better
- 58:57defense, great, great play. But there will be some parents
- 59:00on the team that'll say, hey, can you say something to my son
- 59:04because my voice is louder than theirs.
- 59:06Hey, will you yell at him and tell him this or he listens to
- 59:09you? Will you say this?
- 59:10Because if I said he's going to get mad.
- 59:13So these parents aren't soft on the kids, people who are soft on
- 59:17their kids coach kids who not go to the next level.
- 59:20Most of these parents and most of these players that are at
- 59:23Virginia Tech, which is a big time school, whether y'all
- 59:25believe it or not, they have watched these kids grow up and
- 59:29go through a lot of football. So they're not just on that
- 59:32saying we're the best and my kids should be doing this or, or
- 59:37they're going to critique coaches when they're not making
- 59:39changes. But when they kids get in and
- 59:41they ain't doing something, they probably going to say it.
- 59:44I'm going to say, I'm going to say I sit beside Aiden Green's
- 59:47daddy and I would have never knew that was his daddy.
- 59:49I'm going to, I mean, I I would have never knew that was his
- 59:52pops. And I was like, hey, man, put
- 59:55this motherfucker in. What are y'all doing?
- 59:57And his dad never said nothing. And then they put him in and he
- 1:00:01did something wrong. I think he may have missed a
- 1:00:03block or something. This was last year.
- 1:00:04And he said they not going to put you in the game unless you
- 1:00:07do this right. That's what he said.
- 1:00:10That's what his dad said. You one opportunity to go in and
- 1:00:13you mess up. They're not going to put you
- 1:00:14back in the game. So I'm like, I'm glad I
- 1:00:16understood that bad because I didn't know that was his daddy,
- 1:00:18you know what I'm saying? But these parents are, I mean,
- 1:00:21there are some parents just probably soft on their kids.
- 1:00:24But more than likely when you have a high level athlete, the
- 1:00:29hardest critique is going to be their parents.
- 1:00:32Yes. Yeah, that the hardest critique
- 1:00:34is going to be the parents. I've got two things to say on
- 1:00:37that number one tally. You just summed up my first
- 1:00:40point. Usually parents are the hardest
- 1:00:44and the ones to criticize. I know everyone who came from
- 1:00:47families that had athletes. Your biggest critic was your
- 1:00:52parents, and it wasn't because they were coming down under you
- 1:00:55being they want you to do better and they're always going to be
- 1:00:58the first ones to be like, what are you doing?
- 1:01:00You've got to be out there. You got to do this.
- 1:01:02That's that was always my experience.
- 1:01:04That's how my family did it. Second, I'm not going to knock
- 1:01:07anyone on like running a burner account and saying whatever they
- 1:01:10need want to, but. Shut the fuck up.
- 1:01:15About those of us who are actually out here saying shit, I
- 1:01:18get fucking death threats. I've had actual retaliation
- 1:01:21against my business in numerous ways, and not just from
- 1:01:24individuals, from gigantic fucking corporations with the
- 1:01:27wealth of fucking nations. They come at me all the time for
- 1:01:31fucking shit I do. So shut the fuck up.
- 1:01:38God, I love it. I love.
- 1:01:40You but hey, but but real talk if if we going back to it.
- 1:01:43So if we're looking at you know, because we're talking about the
- 1:01:45breath of the season and now you're trying to take the show
- 1:01:50over. If you turned around and you
- 1:01:54knew Kyron was hurt at Rutgers, right?
- 1:01:59And knowing full well he was going to play against Miami, I,
- 1:02:04I, I, I told him to Tally. I said, I told Tally.
- 1:02:06I said it didn't matter what he could have been.
- 1:02:09He could have been he could have had a broke foot.
- 1:02:11He didn't make a difference. He was going to play because
- 1:02:12that's bragging rights at the house and he played his behind
- 1:02:15off. He did if you if you go ahead
- 1:02:18and put him down against Stanford.
- 1:02:21In Boston College. And Boston College.
- 1:02:24In Boston, three weeks healthy. OK.
- 1:02:27And then come back and play Slee behind the same offensive line
- 1:02:34because they ain't like he got an improvement offensive line
- 1:02:36play. It was the same offensive line,
- 1:02:39you know. Yeah, I mean.
- 1:02:42You know it. I.
- 1:02:44Mean not just Duke, man. Like I said, even in the
- 1:02:47Syracuse game, you know, we stopped.
- 1:02:49We stopped throwing the ball down the field, but I think it
- 1:02:53was like in the second quarter when one of the one of the
- 1:02:56Syracuse VBS jumped the route and I think Kony had to did the
- 1:03:00wheel route up up the up the sideline.
- 1:03:02If he waits a second and let Kony clear, we probably blow
- 1:03:06them out. And, but, but other people
- 1:03:08trying to get picks and trying to play crazy and decide to go
- 1:03:12to LSU and, and stuff like that end up causing us the game, you
- 1:03:19know, shit. But it's.
- 1:03:22Teramanos. Not naming names or nothing.
- 1:03:24I mean, the Teramanos, man, blame it on the Teramanos.
- 1:03:26But my thing is, if you do that, how does the season look?
- 1:03:31And then you got this. This groundswell of all the
- 1:03:35fools is old, Pop is better, Slee is better, all this, but
- 1:03:38this guy is hurt. How do we look at it right now?
- 1:03:42If you think about it, because we probably went out.
- 1:03:45We probably went out. We we probably win the same.
- 1:03:50We win the games we won't Kyron. And the question is the Syracuse
- 1:03:54game that comes up. I mean, that game was a dub that
- 1:03:58game. Talk about irritating moments of
- 1:04:01the season. That was the more so you win
- 1:04:03those three games. I know Robert.
- 1:04:08You are waking him up, Jeremy, you know.
- 1:04:10Yeah. Those three games.
- 1:04:12I'm a sweet, innocent Jeremy. The the bigger thing is you go
- 1:04:16into Syracuse and this is crazy as shit to say.
- 1:04:20You're 5:00 and 3:00, but you have a chance to run the table
- 1:04:24and play in early December. As.
- 1:04:27Crazy as that sounds, November 2nd, we still, after what
- 1:04:31happened to Miami down the road, we held our own.
- 1:04:34We had we controlled our own destiny of giving you the ACC
- 1:04:36Championship. Whether we win it or not, we
- 1:04:38don't know. But I think if you say Kyron's
- 1:04:41healthy, you basically give him a month to everything that's
- 1:04:44fucked up between his foot, his knee, his shoulder, his ribs and
- 1:04:48every other part that he got beat.
- 1:04:49To hell with what happened. Syracuse, Clemson, Duke and UVA
- 1:04:52don't know because the Syracuse game, you sit here and it's like
- 1:04:57that game was there. Yeah, He shouldn't have played
- 1:05:01the. Clemson every game you could.
- 1:05:02Every game. Like the Clemson game?
- 1:05:06No, we played. Clemson Clemson was a playoff
- 1:05:08team and we lost about 10 points and I don't think we ran the
- 1:05:13ball with a running back and. We and we.
- 1:05:14Didn't run the. Football at All 22.
- 1:05:18We didn't run the ball. Game Somebody get the ball to
- 1:05:21Cody. Yeah.
- 1:05:22Jaylen Lane was the lead rusher that game.
- 1:05:25Yeah, I think Dan posted on Twitter he said Clemson big and
- 1:05:28the ball ran down they throat the whole year.
- 1:05:30I said, yeah, until you had our coaches that that refused to run
- 1:05:35the ball. Like you have scholarship
- 1:05:38running backs, you have scholarship running backs on the
- 1:05:42team. You got to see if somebody can
- 1:05:44run the ball, man. You have to.
- 1:05:47I mean, you can't beat them just throwing the ball.
- 1:05:50That's impossible. Well, you looked at what
- 1:05:52happened to Clemson's rush defense for the majority of the
- 1:05:55year, not running the football against them, regardless of
- 1:05:58who's in the backfield was, was just mind boggling to me.
- 1:06:03And, and that was that was the one game where I was ready to
- 1:06:06say, you know, maybe Bowen can hit the road, You know, because
- 1:06:09if, if, if, if you can't look at that game and look at that
- 1:06:12defense and say my best route to success is, is running.
- 1:06:15The ball between the tackles. Yeah, then that's a problem.
- 1:06:19And, and I think I think one of the best defense tackles was out
- 1:06:22that game too. I think one of the top because
- 1:06:24the guy was out of the game. So you run Coney, you give
- 1:06:28baseball another week to get healthy.
- 1:06:30Like I said, me personally, I just think after the Georgia
- 1:06:34Tech game, you should have played Slee and me and Tally
- 1:06:38talked about it. We knew Georgia Tech was going
- 1:06:40to put nine in the box. Georgia Tech put 12 in the box.
- 1:06:43They said we refuse to let him get off on us.
- 1:06:46So if you run Coney, you know, because I think he had more pop,
- 1:06:51more burst. Mason was hurt.
- 1:06:55You know, Mason had a bad hamstring.
- 1:06:56So I think that was kind of the reason why they didn't play him.
- 1:06:59But I also look at, you know, kind of saving certain things
- 1:07:02for, you know, purposes, you know, we don't know, but I would
- 1:07:06have played, I would have played Coney, I'd have played Mason,
- 1:07:09you know, out of out of kept, out of kept baseball's numbers
- 1:07:13down. Because if you think about it,
- 1:07:14baseball's biggest games, he's like 1617 carries.
- 1:07:19Think about it, 1617 carries is what baseball is getting, you
- 1:07:23know, so they want to keep they don't want to throw the ball a
- 1:07:26lot. You know, 3030 plus passes in
- 1:07:31this offense is something that they really don't want to do.
- 1:07:33They really want to play it tight and close to the vest.
- 1:07:37They want to run the football. They want to be complimentary,
- 1:07:39but we we didn't see a complimentary game all year.
- 1:07:44I mean, the the closest man, the only complimentary game we
- 1:07:46really, really saw that all three phases didn't give us
- 1:07:50something to say. God Dang, was UVA UVA Stanford,
- 1:07:55UVA Yeah, UVA Stanford. That's it, That's it.
- 1:07:59You know, that's what we saw. So yeah, we we got a lot of head
- 1:08:03scratching. Do I think, do I think a lot of
- 1:08:06the younger players that are on this team, this 24 class, this
- 1:08:1025 class are upgrades over some of the guys we had?
- 1:08:14I'm going to say yeah, I'm going to be totally honest with you, I
- 1:08:17think. I think now you're not.
- 1:08:20You're not going to you're not going to get the same upgrade.
- 1:08:22You're not going to get the same upgrade as people's.
- 1:08:25Yeah, Here we go. Let's.
- 1:08:26Talk about this real quick. Let's talk about this real
- 1:08:29quick. We're we're not saying Schlee or
- 1:08:32pop over Kyron, We're saying a healthy Schlee or pop over a
- 1:08:37vastly injured Kyron. These.
- 1:08:39Situations. Oh well, it's still a fucking
- 1:08:42problem, but a healthy quarterback is better than an
- 1:08:44injured quarterback. Absolutely.
- 1:08:46And you saw and you saw that you saw that in in those games.
- 1:08:50Syracuse game Slee played well. He you know, he played well.
- 1:08:54You know, you just, I think I think they kind of like you had
- 1:08:57certain things. You know, when, when, yeah, when
- 1:09:02Coney fumble. That was huge because we were
- 1:09:04driving on them again, you know, that was a big turnover.
- 1:09:09And so, and like I said, you had certain gaffes on the defense by
- 1:09:14one particular damn guy that lost you that fucking Syracuse
- 1:09:17game. That's it, man.
- 1:09:19Just go and call him. What the fuck it is a dude had
- 1:09:21four. He didn't have any catches
- 1:09:23coming into that fucking game. He'd been a junior, No catches
- 1:09:27in his in his college career. 4 catches, 88 yards, 2 touchdowns.
- 1:09:31That wasn't nobody else but two guys.
- 1:09:34It's called it what it is, man. Yeah, you're supposed to win
- 1:09:37that game. Yep, you're.
- 1:09:39Supposed to win that game but both of them decide to leave
- 1:09:42and. Play over there, Matty B Say he
- 1:09:44got a camera and a mic. Get him in here, you know, if we
- 1:09:47get him in here. So so that's send him a.
- 1:09:49Link. If he wants to talk, let's talk.
- 1:09:51Send him a link, he stay want to get in.
- 1:09:52The only problem with that? Let's get him in.
- 1:09:54If you win that Syracuse game, your whole perspective is
- 1:09:57different. Yeah, your whole entire
- 1:09:59perspective is different because up to that point, outside of
- 1:10:03Hokey Donnas, who said he knew well before anybody else knew
- 1:10:06that Kyra wasn't going to play. I knew a dude who knew Kyra
- 1:10:09wasn't going to play on Thursday.
- 1:10:11But he ain't saying nobody. He definitely did call his best
- 1:10:13friend Tally and tell him he didn't do that.
- 1:10:16But you know that that that ain't how that work.
- 1:10:18But knowing that the staff held it close to the vest, Slee
- 1:10:23wouldn't play great. You should have won, won that
- 1:10:26football game. And your whole perspective is
- 1:10:28different that what that loss hurt more than any other game
- 1:10:31for me all year. Yeah, I'm with you because the
- 1:10:36the the worst team won that football game.
- 1:10:39Absolutely. That's why it's frustrating
- 1:10:42because you take away 2 plays, you outplay them in pretty much
- 1:10:46every phase of the game. Without question. 100% true,
- 1:10:51100% true. I'd argue we.
- 1:10:53Were the we had the best players and we're the best team in most
- 1:10:57every of our games. The only argument against that
- 1:11:00was Clemson and Miami. And honestly, I feel like we
- 1:11:04beat Miami and then Clemson. That was, we were just, that was
- 1:11:08right, rough. That was a rough game.
- 1:11:09To watch we still it was a 10 point it was.
- 1:11:12Very close. Yeah.
- 1:11:13I know we had so much talent. That's what hurts.
- 1:11:19And we know, and we're still going to have a lot of talent.
- 1:11:22We just got to put it together and I feel like we put it
- 1:11:24together and we make it click. We can really have a good season
- 1:11:27coming up. We really can.
- 1:11:29We just got to make it click. That's the biggest thing.
- 1:11:34Yep. So let's talk a little bit about
- 1:11:38what we've done in the transfer portal so far, because I mean,
- 1:11:40that's that's been a big thing. We had a lot of lot of people
- 1:11:43out. We talked about that a little
- 1:11:45bit. Let's talk about some of the
- 1:11:46folks we getting in because I feel like we're, I think we, we
- 1:11:51had to be talked off the ledge a little bit.
- 1:11:53The first week of the transfer portal.
- 1:11:54I think we saw a lot of bodies going out the door.
- 1:11:57There was a lot of fucking uncertainty between who we going
- 1:11:59to fire. All right, now that we fired
- 1:12:01somebody who we going to hire. Can we get guys in here while
- 1:12:04we're kind of in this transition phase?
- 1:12:06And then we started seeing them trickle in and trickling in
- 1:12:09pretty good right now. You know, we got got a, you
- 1:12:13know, a big crop of DBS that came in.
- 1:12:17We got a, you got AD line. We got a couple running backs.
- 1:12:20So, you know, we're looking pretty good on those fronts.
- 1:12:24What are we looking like from a transfer portal situation?
- 1:12:28Everybody's dropping out apparently.
- 1:12:30Apparently I started talking to everybody left.
- 1:12:32Oh, it was a obviously bathroom break time.
- 1:12:35I'm still here for you. I'm still here.
- 1:12:38Sally, what you got on these transfers?
- 1:12:42I mean, I put something up whenever everybody was kind of
- 1:12:46acting crazy at the beginning and I was like, I mean, the
- 1:12:49transfer portal is going to give and it's going to take, you know
- 1:12:51what I'm saying? I think I said something to the
- 1:12:53effect of, you know, we we did get a, you know, 16 SAT guy
- 1:12:59through the transfer portal and somebody pretty much told me
- 1:13:01that I was crazy. You know, all that's just that's
- 1:13:04not going to happen And well, you ain't going to get nobody.
- 1:13:07Then we start getting people and I'm like, that's what happens.
- 1:13:12That's what's good. That's what this new age of
- 1:13:14football is. So I will say, you know, now
- 1:13:18specific they upgraded the safeties room.
- 1:13:24You know, our starting safety played in half of a game being
- 1:13:30Jalen Shroman, and we never seen him again because he got
- 1:13:34injured. So they went out and got some
- 1:13:36safeties and a couple of other safeties that we do have are
- 1:13:39young and show promise. Q Reddish.
- 1:13:43So with what they did going to picking up flowers and cash, I
- 1:13:49think it's a good move because you bring in some veteran
- 1:13:51leadership and you bring in some production.
- 1:13:54You know, those both of those guys were productive at their at
- 1:13:58their stops that they were at. Didn't they get the ECU
- 1:14:03cornerback because we have the lane go in the in the portal,
- 1:14:08which again, for me, I didn't expect to see the lane anymore
- 1:14:13in Virginia Tech just because I thought he was going pro.
- 1:14:16I thought he would go to the NFL for what you know, he's going to
- 1:14:20LSU. Kudos to him.
- 1:14:22So yeah, I hate to see that because I'd much rather him go
- 1:14:25to the NFL and they say drafted from Virginia Tech, you know,
- 1:14:28Monsoor de Lion, but he's got to do what's best for him.
- 1:14:31So either way it goes. I had already mentally made my
- 1:14:34mind up that I wasn't going to see him play at Virginia Tech
- 1:14:37anymore. So they go and get this kid from
- 1:14:39ECU, which is a serviceable kid, But I think we got young talent
- 1:14:42again on the in the room that can come in and play.
- 1:14:46We've seen Dante Lovett play last year and I think it's just
- 1:14:49going to be reps for him to come in and continue getting better.
- 1:14:53Braylon Johnson, I think they kind of moved him to safety.
- 1:14:56We seen him play his true freshman year and he red shirted
- 1:14:59last year. We got some other kids back
- 1:15:02there, you know, Josh Clark and Thomas Williams.
- 1:15:05A couple of those other kids, man, that we just haven't seen
- 1:15:08that. Now they're going to be going
- 1:15:10from, you know, someone being freshman to their juniors or red
- 1:15:15shirts sophomore three years in college.
- 1:15:17If it's not your time to play, then when is your time to play?
- 1:15:21You know what I'm saying? Like we got to, we got to start
- 1:15:23seeing some productivity from these guys that we do have.
- 1:15:28And like I said, they did go out and they went and grabbed also
- 1:15:32Radish's brother, bring him in another, you know, bring in some
- 1:15:36more, you know, veteran type players that can show some of
- 1:15:40the younger guys 'cause sometimes.
- 1:15:43And I, I, I'm going to be honest with you, I have not watched a
- 1:15:46lot of film on the transfers that we're getting in.
- 1:15:51But I do know when you have somebody who's played at any
- 1:15:53program, they bring in some kind of way to be a pro, how to go
- 1:15:59through your game day, how to, you know, treat your body when
- 1:16:03you're not playing, you know, different things.
- 1:16:06Like that is some of the stuff that you need that's not shown
- 1:16:09on the field because you got to have somebody who knows how to
- 1:16:13tell the younger guy, man, you got to go to bed at such and
- 1:16:17such time on game day. Because if you don't get enough
- 1:16:21sleep and you eat Skittles all night, your body's going to
- 1:16:25react to certain just little stuff like that or you can't be
- 1:16:28up on a game. Wait a second, hold.
- 1:16:30On I was crazy as shit that week because I was watching these
- 1:16:35transfers go out and I was freaking the fuck out, but I was
- 1:16:38too. Busy to like, tweet about?
- 1:16:40It I'm going. To answer Hashem real quick,
- 1:16:45because we've got a first time here.
- 1:16:47First of all, that is the Kirkland.
- 1:16:49That is the Costco 12 year blended Scotch.
- 1:16:55He's from Costco, he's going to blow up.
- 1:17:00He's by South. Carolina Costco.
- 1:17:05He brought it up last week. At the family Gallery.
- 1:17:08Oh, that ain't Dan Matty B Oh, Matty B got a whole set up.
- 1:17:16He got everything over there. He got black lights Matty B in
- 1:17:22here hey get him on here I'm. Mute this up.
- 1:17:25Hold on hold. This is big.
- 1:17:27This is the first time we have ever brought a fan on mission.
- 1:17:32Ever. We've talked.
- 1:17:33About doing this. Shit before me and Brian have
- 1:17:36and this is what we got going on Maddie.
- 1:17:38He is, he is. Fully embracing, say, the
- 1:17:40program. He is drinking.
- 1:17:41He's got the old school TV. Logo Salute.
- 1:17:44Salute. 1993 Hokey sat on, so salute.
- 1:17:48Welcome, Maddie to the state of the program, where ain't nobody
- 1:17:53over but Tally because he got to stay sober because he can't lose
- 1:17:55all his money getting drunk when he got downstairs.
- 1:17:57Yeah, I'm drinking water over here.
- 1:17:59And I hear you guys and I, I, to be honest, I, I appreciate you.
- 1:18:03Witness Matty B standing up and fucking coming on.
- 1:18:07Yeah, witness. That.
- 1:18:09Yeah, yeah, well, I mean, we live in a age of cowards and I
- 1:18:12feel if you're going to say something, you may as well say
- 1:18:14it. And I'm not afraid of coming on.
- 1:18:17I'm not the smartest guy in the world, but I do have opinions on
- 1:18:21things. I'm willing to be corrected and
- 1:18:22I'm willing to be right. Brother, I'm the same boat as
- 1:18:25you. Have you seen my fucking
- 1:18:26podcast? It's me and Paul just fucking
- 1:18:29going on, and we say if you want to see real conversation about
- 1:18:32football, go watch Boundary Quarter right after.
- 1:18:37But actually, and I'm not going to spread any hate on your
- 1:18:41podcast, but of the hokey social media presence on YouTube and or
- 1:18:48X, this is the only one that I can really tune into.
- 1:18:50I, I, I don't like the other ones.
- 1:18:52This is the the real deal for me.
- 1:18:55This is the only one that I tune into.
- 1:18:56I've told Tally that I've quote tweeted him and and you know, I
- 1:19:00love, I love tune into this particular program because you
- 1:19:04guys are willing to get down and we're not reading poems at the
- 1:19:06beginning. But.
- 1:19:09I would say that I, I, I. Like those guys?
- 1:19:14Very cool man, I met them all. Hey, I'm not speaking for the
- 1:19:21podcast. I'm just a guest here, OK?
- 1:19:23If you want to help me out, you can.
- 1:19:25I love those. Guys, they sent me a a nice
- 1:19:28glass kit of whiskeys. I know I just, I just think we
- 1:19:32got to get rid of some of the pussy assness from from our
- 1:19:36program and, and, and, but yeah, but anyways, I, I just came on
- 1:19:41to talk to you guys. I love the way that you talk
- 1:19:42about Virginia Tech football. I don't always agree with you,
- 1:19:46but I'm I'm here and I'm willing to talk and I'm willing to hash
- 1:19:48it out with Chris over some things that I've said.
- 1:19:49I'm willing to hash it out with anybody over anything that we've
- 1:19:52talked about. Or if you want to bring anything
- 1:19:54up, I'm willing to chime in. But thanks for having me on and
- 1:19:56let's go Okies. I'm going to get on you for this
- 1:20:03because this is for me. You said went out like you do
- 1:20:06realize the Syracuse game, if we won out, we would have been the
- 1:20:10ACC championship game. We lost three games by 17 points
- 1:20:14and I'm going to go step by step.
- 1:20:15Syracuse. Let's not hash that again
- 1:20:18because goddamn it, I'd make everybody in here angry as well.
- 1:20:21Clemson, we know Kylan was injured and then we run the ball
- 1:20:264 goddamn times the whole game with our lead running back
- 1:20:31Jeremiah Kony had went for 96 yards on 10 carries against
- 1:20:35Syracuse. Malachi had 72 yards, averaging
- 1:20:385.2 per carry. We were running the ball against
- 1:20:43one of the worst fucking run defenses.
- 1:20:44We chose not to run. And then the Duke game, I was
- 1:20:48watching that in my sister's house and I had to listen to the
- 1:20:50rest of it on the radio. So when you say went out
- 1:20:52question mark, homie, it won't. It won't.
- 1:20:56Like we got that fucking blowers blown the fuck off.
- 1:20:59It was there, we fucked it up, I'll say that all day.
- 1:21:04But if you take a look at that the last month of the season,
- 1:21:07November 2nd, the Hokies control their own destiny.
- 1:21:10Yeah, do 5 and. Three, let's talk about talent.
- 1:21:13Let's talk about execution. Let's talk about because those
- 1:21:15those are the three things primarily that go into winning
- 1:21:19football games. Talent for the most part, we
- 1:21:24were there in, in in most of those games.
- 1:21:27We were there execution spotty at times and and and Chris has
- 1:21:32talked about it, you know, especially the Syracuse game,
- 1:21:36which we won't necessarily run into the ground and give
- 1:21:38execution was a problem at multiple times this season.
- 1:21:42Coaching in in particularly situational coaching was bad at
- 1:21:48a lot of key parts of this season.
- 1:21:51There were opportunities to win there.
- 1:21:53And to Chris's point, I think if you are better with the way you
- 1:21:56are managing those week to week things, you put yourself in
- 1:22:02better position on game day for the execution piece and that
- 1:22:08makes up for some of those other things.
- 1:22:10Yeah, well, I mean, and and other news, Brian, water is wet.
- 1:22:15I mean, I mean like, you know, if we execute well, we win.
- 1:22:20The problem is we didn't. And I don't, I like to blame
- 1:22:23players a lot #70 I'm not going to say his name.
- 1:22:26Parker Clements, I did not like him.
- 1:22:28But there's, but you know, I mean, we could talk about
- 1:22:32execution and we really could have got in there and all these
- 1:22:36things. This comes from the top.
- 1:22:37This is a top down. Shit runs downhill, right?
- 1:22:41And that's that's why we suck right now.
- 1:22:44And I agree. With you, we could have won out
- 1:22:45and that's why I put that thing went out.
- 1:22:47That's crazy. That was sarcastic and so I
- 1:22:51guess it didn't come off that way.
- 1:22:53No, no, I, I got. What you were saying, Curtis,
- 1:22:56Are you that fucking drunk? No, no, no.
- 1:22:59No, Maddie, I didn't. Know how to.
- 1:23:00Read your thing like the Hokies respect thing.
- 1:23:03I thought you were actually being semi serious.
- 1:23:05Oh no. The HR saw.
- 1:23:07Your. Virginia Tech football now.
- 1:23:09I saw your one O comment, I went OK I know what he's doing.
- 1:23:12So, so just a little backwards context for you guys.
- 1:23:15I'm getting married in May and I.
- 1:23:17Congratulations. Thank you.
- 1:23:19I decided for my bachelor party not to go to Vegas or not to go
- 1:23:22to these other places. I plan preseason to have my
- 1:23:25bachelor party for the Clemson game.
- 1:23:27I got a suite because I bought into the hype.
- 1:23:29I bought the lie. I said boom, we're going to go
- 1:23:31to the Clemson game. I'm showing my boys Virginia
- 1:23:33Tech football because I've lived in Portland, OR for 10 years and
- 1:23:37I went to so many. Games.
- 1:23:39And I couldn't tell you. I said I'm going to show my boys
- 1:23:42what Blacksburg is all about. And by the third quarter, it was
- 1:23:46a funeral. Everyone had their hands on my
- 1:23:48shoulders and it wasn't a good thing.
- 1:23:51And so, but if we would have won that Syracuse game, that Clemson
- 1:23:56game is so much different. And then if we went out from
- 1:23:59there, we're talking, we're going to the ACC championship.
- 1:24:01And, and I mean, so I was being very sarcastic in the sense of
- 1:24:06went out as a joke. It was.
- 1:24:08It was more so in the sense of why is our leadership sucks so
- 1:24:12bad and why can't they rile these boys up to win a damn game
- 1:24:15like they did at. The rainy game, right?
- 1:24:18So The thing is, The thing is what I put your first comment up
- 1:24:23about Maddie, is when you say Kyron in Good Slee and Papa
- 1:24:30Better or something like that. I don't want to lie and say you
- 1:24:32said something that you didn't, but it was something to that
- 1:24:34aspect. But then now when we're talking,
- 1:24:36we're talking about why can't the coaches rile them up?
- 1:24:39I'm just trying to see where are you coming from what, what
- 1:24:43context do you get that this player and this player are head
- 1:24:47and shoulders better than this player?
- 1:24:49And if they are, why didn't the coaches put them in?
- 1:24:53I think we agree on that point. I think a lot of us agree on
- 1:24:56this podcast with that point where it looked like seniority
- 1:24:59was a big deal for this coaching staff and wanting the seniors to
- 1:25:02play out their season. And there were players that were
- 1:25:05better that were not played because the seniors were
- 1:25:09playing, for example, Parker Clements or for example, letting
- 1:25:12Chiron out there with injuries. He's obviously hurt.
- 1:25:17I don't hate Kyron drones. I I just think that he wasn't an
- 1:25:19effective quarterback in the system that we're running,
- 1:25:21especially hurt. He we could have gotten through
- 1:25:24if he was fully healthy the whole season.
- 1:25:26But I think the coaches. But you got to think, you got to
- 1:25:28stand on what you said, you got to stand on what you said.
- 1:25:32When you type it, you said Kyron is not good.
- 1:25:36That's what you say. You're backtracking.
- 1:25:41What you said you said Karen is not good, popping better.
- 1:25:46Why was he still playing? Right.
- 1:25:48So Karen isn't any good. What I meant by that is he
- 1:25:52wasn't good to play those games. He was not good, Kyron.
- 1:25:56Is not any, but that isn't what you're.
- 1:25:57Saying on the field to make the place.
- 1:25:59That he needed to play. To to to have the offensive
- 1:26:02execution for they ran him like a battering ram for the first
- 1:26:07few games. I mean, Kyron isn't any good in
- 1:26:09those situations. If he's hurt, he's not any good.
- 1:26:12But that's what you didn't say. But hold on.
- 1:26:15This is, this is what I'm going to say, man.
- 1:26:17I'm going to kind of take your side for say, when you type in
- 1:26:19shit that can happen. So first thing, it's always.
- 1:26:23I'm in the. Context because if you were to
- 1:26:25say. I love Curtis.
- 1:26:27If you would have said. Curtis typing or talking?
- 1:26:30Let's go. Y'all know how that goes?
- 1:26:32I know that because the way I type and shit.
- 1:26:34But the whole thing is you've got to throw that in there
- 1:26:36because you're right, right? If that's your feeling, Kyron
- 1:26:39Hurt is not them. I think everybody, all seven of
- 1:26:43us here agree and probably all 478 people watching us right now
- 1:26:47agree Kyron banged up was not as good as those guys.
- 1:26:50No, they weren't. Well see this guy makes this.
- 1:26:52That was context because the way we read it is wait a SEC, Kyron
- 1:26:57Jones last year, 17 touchdowns, 3 interceptions starting at the
- 1:27:01Marshall game, which we want to go back to 2023 and we can
- 1:27:04always say this program was the first program to say Kyron Jones
- 1:27:07should have been a starting quarterback.
- 1:27:09We said it right after the spring game with Mike McDaniel
- 1:27:11sitting here. Mike's, Mike tried to join us
- 1:27:13later if things aren't happening at his house, but the, the, the
- 1:27:17context has to be there because when it's when we're out in this
- 1:27:21sort of arena, all we see is Chiron isn't it's good.
- 1:27:25It's like, first of all, we had a chance to talk to Karen and
- 1:27:27everything and they did not run him like a batter and ran the
- 1:27:32first few games. They were trying to make him a
- 1:27:33pocket passer which Tally went the fuck off on.
- 1:27:37Right. So this is the thing that the
- 1:27:38only reason that I was harping on that was not to be
- 1:27:41argumentative with Maddie. I just want people because what
- 1:27:43I do when I look at football and I watch Virginia Tech football
- 1:27:47is I get very personal as far as how I feel and what I remember.
- 1:27:51And I don't go into really what happened.
- 1:27:54The things that people are saying and the things that we
- 1:27:56remember is not really how it happened a lot of times.
- 1:27:59So you have to go back and you have to look at it and you got
- 1:28:01to kind of go through the whole film and self evaluate and go.
- 1:28:06What really happened here? Just like Tim said, they didn't
- 1:28:09run him like a battering ram. They tried to make him a pocket
- 1:28:11passer, which he still got hurt in in Vanderbilt.
- 1:28:15If y'all don't know if he was at the game he's pleased, let's run
- 1:28:18with. That let's run with.
- 1:28:19That but but my thing is, but what I'm saying is when we seen
- 1:28:23Kyron play last year and it ain't just the fans, it was
- 1:28:26people who aren't Virginia Tech fans said this kid has
- 1:28:29something, This kid has something.
- 1:28:32He may be a dark horse Heisman. I didn't get to that far, but
- 1:28:36some people had that. Some people said he may be ACC
- 1:28:40player of the year, couple other things.
- 1:28:42Whatever the case may be, if he gets to that form, Virginia Tech
- 1:28:45can do this. Apparently that didn't happen.
- 1:28:47We seen what happened this year, injuries, him not being good,
- 1:28:51whatever fans want to say whatever we think.
- 1:28:53But what I'm saying is when you say that the other quarterbacks
- 1:28:57had the same offensive coordinator, all I'm saying is
- 1:29:00the other quarterbacks came in and got hurt or the other
- 1:29:03quarterbacks came in and we still lost games, we still
- 1:29:06didn't win. Like what did they do so good
- 1:29:09that we did that made us better Again, any quarterback that
- 1:29:13would have played, any quarterback that would have
- 1:29:16played would have beat UVA. That's what I thought.
- 1:29:19Stay on the topic. All right, so let's let's look
- 1:29:21at this. If if I were to go to any of
- 1:29:24Chiron's games this year, any of them and then we run, let's just
- 1:29:29go to the just extended replays on YouTube, the show where the
- 1:29:32condensed version of games. Would you say that pops and
- 1:29:36sleaze games look different than Kyron's?
- 1:29:39Kyron was hurt. He got hurt in Virginia.
- 1:29:43At the first game of the year, we get started at the first game
- 1:29:46of the year. He was hurt in the first game of
- 1:29:47the year. He got hurt.
- 1:29:48You don't remember that he was. Laying on the field?
- 1:29:50No. He was laying on the field, face
- 1:29:53down. Why was he playing?
- 1:29:55That that's the question. You said the office of
- 1:29:57coordinator made the other two quarterbacks look good.
- 1:29:59I'm saying why would they let him play and he's hurt.
- 1:30:02When we talked about this in the space, the office brought up the
- 1:30:04fact. Everything was different.
- 1:30:06Everything was different. See, we talk about Vanderbilt
- 1:30:09too, but like, even a hurt Kyron in against Vanderbilt completed
- 1:30:1366% of his passes, 322 yards and two touchdowns.
- 1:30:17Two touchdowns and had. I mean, he wasn't out there
- 1:30:20taking a shit on the field despite how we felt for the
- 1:30:24duration of that game. Yeah, we should have been, you
- 1:30:27know, and, and, yeah. And he had like a lot of bad
- 1:30:29drops in that game. He had a lot of bad drops in
- 1:30:31that game. Oh yeah, a lot.
- 1:30:33Of and Ollie Jennings had one across the middle that was a.
- 1:30:36Now this is what I was saying. Yeah, what knowledge, Aiden?
- 1:30:39Green my bet. And what we'll say and what
- 1:30:42we'll say to Maddie's point, I'm not saying Karen is above
- 1:30:48criticism. I'm not saying that at all.
- 1:30:50But what I'm saying is that this coaching staff 100% for a fact
- 1:30:55knew that he was going to be deficient for certain reasons
- 1:30:59because he was hurt. And they said, hey, can you
- 1:31:01please do this for us? Can you please go and do this?
- 1:31:04Because we don't want the optics to look this way.
- 1:31:08And his parents and him said we're going to let that happen
- 1:31:13so fans can go. When Chris said the kid took all
- 1:31:17the arrows, he took all the arrows for this year, took them
- 1:31:21all. He wasn't even.
- 1:31:22He came back. They stopped him from going to
- 1:31:25school. He didn't go to class any during
- 1:31:27the Georgia Tech week, he didn't.
- 1:31:30He had three Mris that week or that month.
- 1:31:34He didn't go to class at all. So they knew he was hurt and he
- 1:31:39went and scored a rushing touchdown, a passing touchdown
- 1:31:41and. Been in the damn game.
- 1:31:44And receiving touchdown, he shouldn't have been playing, but
- 1:31:46they said the coaches were playing this game where they
- 1:31:50were saying we got to win. This is the more important game,
- 1:31:54so let's do this. And then when they played the
- 1:31:56game of, well, he might play against Syracuse.
- 1:32:00He was supposed to be on a in a boot that week.
- 1:32:02This isn't something that tally made-up.
- 1:32:04You can go check records or you can talk deep enough in
- 1:32:06Blacksburg and they'll tell you he wasn't.
- 1:32:09He was supposed to be in a boot against Syracuse or coming out,
- 1:32:13but they said, well, let's let him warm up so we can trick him.
- 1:32:16All of the media do. All of Virginia Tech media knew
- 1:32:19all of them. All of them knew and they.
- 1:32:21And they trusted crime because they wanted to get their money
- 1:32:23in. What, other than money would
- 1:32:26make that decision happen? He didn't play that game, so I
- 1:32:30don't know what the money is that we're talking about.
- 1:32:32I'm just saying they they, they were trying to play a head game
- 1:32:35with Syracuse, which kind of worked because Schlee went in.
- 1:32:39You know what I'm saying? Schlee went in and played and he
- 1:32:42played fine until he got hurt. You make this.
- 1:32:45He got here for two. Quarterbacks.
- 1:32:46Now that being said, I I don't understand the mind games to the
- 1:32:50point where when I look at Colin Schlee, when I look at Colin
- 1:32:53Schlee other than his physical stature, right?
- 1:32:57I mean Kyron is imposing from a physical standpoint.
- 1:33:00Other than that, their games are very similar.
- 1:33:04Very much. Very similar, very much so.
- 1:33:06You're not necessarily even playing a great head game
- 1:33:09because you're still preparing for a similar type of
- 1:33:11quarterback. Other than the fact that Kyron
- 1:33:14can run you the fuck over. Right.
- 1:33:17Hey, Mr. I can ask you a. Question, Maddie, Hold on, hold
- 1:33:20on. Let me say this real quick to
- 1:33:21him. Curtis, go ahead.
- 1:33:22Go ahead. No, no, no mine.
- 1:33:24Mine's legit, Maddie. No, I was just going to say,
- 1:33:27Maddie, I'm not cutting you off from the stuff that you're
- 1:33:29saying because you you have your right to have any thought
- 1:33:33process. You want to we all fucking mad
- 1:33:36because we didn't win this year, but I just want fans that when
- 1:33:39we're talking, yeah, I just, I just want fans to look at the
- 1:33:43complete package whenever we're talking about stuff because a
- 1:33:46lot of times we go to players and players and players.
- 1:33:48And sometimes it's player, coach, player.
- 1:33:51Sometimes it's coach, coach, player.
- 1:33:53You know what I'm saying? We got to get on everybody.
- 1:33:54And Maddie, you do that. You get on the coaches too.
- 1:33:57I ain't saying that you, you, you crossed them out.
- 1:33:59But I do feel like a lot of fans get bowing a pass and I fucking
- 1:34:03don't know why because I'm going to tell you right now, I'm on
- 1:34:06his ass just as bad as any of the other coaches because he got
- 1:34:09everything he wanted back this year and he didn't do shit with
- 1:34:12it. That's my opinion.
- 1:34:14A great point with fucking Bowen is he he got everything back,
- 1:34:19but he did not take care of the offensive line.
- 1:34:22You cannot build an offense without a fucking offensive
- 1:34:25line. Go ahead, Maddie.
- 1:34:30Did you go to tech first of all? Yes.
- 1:34:33What? What years?
- 1:34:34Briefly, it was between O 8 and halfway through O 9 I dropped
- 1:34:38out and I started selling drugs and the same as Doctor Jeremy,
- 1:34:44but he graduated. Yeah, we went to school the.
- 1:34:47Same time I went to school, yes, yes.
- 1:34:49But I also, I grew up in Blacksburg as well, so I grew.
- 1:34:52Up, yeah. So.
- 1:34:54Fatty. Yeah, I went to Blacksburg
- 1:34:56Middle School, Christiansburg High School and then to Tech so.
- 1:35:01You probably went to the old middle school before it was
- 1:35:03tornado. Yeah, before it was completely
- 1:35:06destroyed. Yeah, luckily I wasn't there for
- 1:35:08that, but. Yeah, you are not in the actual
- 1:35:12building. I'm very, yeah, I'm very
- 1:35:14familiar with with the area. It's, it's important to me.
- 1:35:19I watched a small town transform from impoverished to, you know,
- 1:35:25having the football team is super important to me because of
- 1:35:29how I saw my community transformed.
- 1:35:31So I, I, I guess I have a little bit more heart in it than I
- 1:35:34probably should sometimes. Now you, you now you're hard in
- 1:35:39the right place. Don't, don't, don't, don't do it
- 1:35:41like that. You're hard in the right place.
- 1:35:42I, I think what, what you know, what you're saying is that, you
- 1:35:47know, there's enough and me and Tyler gone around around with
- 1:35:50it. It's enough blame to spread
- 1:35:52around all across the board. You know, I love this staff.
- 1:35:55I love this school, I love this program and I'm I'm relatively
- 1:35:57new to it, But you know, it's still to the point where, you
- 1:36:02know, there are certain things along the way that and, and for
- 1:36:07me and, and just for me, you know, just like Tally said, that
- 1:36:11Georgia Tech week is, is the week that turned it for me
- 1:36:14because you had the opportunity to do certain things.
- 1:36:17You you slee wasn't coming back playing get prop, get pop
- 1:36:22prepared and and whatever happened, whatever, whatever
- 1:36:27happens happened. But a lot of these guys, they
- 1:36:29came on y'all show early, early last year.
- 1:36:32I remember Kyron saying, Hey man, we came back to get
- 1:36:34prepared to go to the pros. Yep.
- 1:36:37And, and I, and I and I, I, you know, I kind of say to a lot of
- 1:36:40the guys, because I talk like, play where your feet are
- 1:36:43planted. That's going to happen.
- 1:36:45If it's going to happen, it's going to happen.
- 1:36:46But play where your feet are planted.
- 1:36:48But they were playing for the league in August.
- 1:36:55That's what they, they weren't playing to be great this year.
- 1:36:57They were playing for the league in June, July, August.
- 1:37:00That's it. That's where their minds were
- 1:37:01at. And and then just had they just
- 1:37:03went and took care of their business the way they could
- 1:37:06have, then it would be totally different.
- 1:37:09But but going back to the the biggest thing, and I think this
- 1:37:12Matt Moore higher, like everybody said earlier, it's
- 1:37:14probably the biggest, biggest hire is a huge hire and change
- 1:37:19some things in strength and conditioning because what we're
- 1:37:22seeing and I think with this DC high is going to help too.
- 1:37:26That's going to be that's going to be huge.
- 1:37:28You got to win. Let's.
- 1:37:29Let's start with that right now, because you're saying that we're
- 1:37:32often here screaming at who do y'all think, and I'm going to
- 1:37:36pitch you to Dan. Dan, you've been quiet.
- 1:37:37Dan got Dan's computer fucked up on it and it had a rough last 15
- 1:37:41minutes. Dan, who's the DC hire,
- 1:37:44honestly. Who like who do I?
- 1:37:47Who? Who do?
- 1:37:48You think And who do you want? Man, I the honestly the longer
- 1:37:54it goes the more I think it's Anthony Poindexter.
- 1:37:59OK, is that who I don't? Though.
- 1:38:02I mean, at this point, yeah, like, Jeff Collins doesn't
- 1:38:04inspire me. He's a good DC.
- 1:38:07But like, I feel like there are some new coaches around our
- 1:38:13regional rivals for recruits. Not to mention James Franklin is
- 1:38:19still heavy in Virginia. Like he got Tony Rojas had a
- 1:38:22pick 6 in that fucking playoff game and he's a Virginia kid.
- 1:38:27Like like, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:38:29Like it's just like I feel like from AI feel like he's a good
- 1:38:33coach is not necessarily the March situation because he's 48.
- 1:38:37He's been Co DC. He had a little he dabbled in
- 1:38:39calling some plays. I feel like even pride and Manny
- 1:38:43Diaz and now Tom Allen have probably groomed this dude to
- 1:38:46call plays. He's great recruiter.
- 1:38:49He'll get kids to come to Virginia Tech.
- 1:38:52I feel like that if that if you're going that route, like
- 1:38:57that's who I would go with. He's the closest thing you can
- 1:39:00get to like hiring Tori and Gray without hiring Tori and Gray.
- 1:39:03Because you're not. At this point, you're not hiring
- 1:39:05Tori and Gray. We're not getting Gray back.
- 1:39:08So if if what you want to do is get a big Dick recruiter that
- 1:39:13can pull kids from Virginia that has at least enough experience
- 1:39:17doing it, whether you whether Co, DC or whether calling the
- 1:39:20defense, he's checking a lot of the boxes.
- 1:39:22The only box he doesn't check is that after you move on from a
- 1:39:26MARV, you're not getting a very proven defensive coordinator.
- 1:39:31In terms of a guy that is called the defense for multiple years
- 1:39:35before coming into Blacksburg, that's the one thing.
- 1:39:37You're Maddie. Maddie, Maddie, First things
- 1:39:40first, this is our podcast. You don't fucking stay on mute,
- 1:39:44dude. Everybody's got a voice here.
- 1:39:46You stay off mute. Is that a?
- 1:39:48This is. Dino no, I'm not.
- 1:39:50I'm going to be honest. Can I be honest?
- 1:39:52I I have a little bit of gas. Oh my God, we don't.
- 1:39:58Hey man, like to be honest. Jack the Ripper in this bitch.
- 1:40:01Can I just say something real quick?
- 1:40:04I kind of respect Maddie for putting his face on the camera
- 1:40:07and letting him be his thoughts be exposed.
- 1:40:10Is that your is your picture is Joe, it looks like that's you,
- 1:40:15right? People think I'm a burner.
- 1:40:17I did an AI picture to put a headset on me so I could like.
- 1:40:21I just want to say I'm not I. Just want to it's the only time
- 1:40:26I'm ever going to say this. I'm going to say it now on this
- 1:40:28program. There are grown ass men on this
- 1:40:32in this world that all they do every day is think about me.
- 1:40:35They're with their wife at the Thanksgiving table, they're
- 1:40:38opening presents, they're thinking about me.
- 1:40:40They're and I feel bad when they fuck their wife because I
- 1:40:44guarantee you they're not thinking about her.
- 1:40:46That's all I'm saying. You got man.
- 1:40:49Prod alone. We didn't got we.
- 1:40:52The liquor has hit Dan's hit Maddie.
- 1:40:54We'll. Go to you.
- 1:40:55Before we got everybody else, DC where you want.
- 1:40:58I mean, honestly, I mean, I don't hate the the Poindexter
- 1:41:03thing. I I really just want someone
- 1:41:06who's called snaps before. I'm kind of with you guys.
- 1:41:09I don't really follow the coaching trail and all of these
- 1:41:13things and really try to dive into all of them.
- 1:41:17I want our leadership to pick somebody who's good.
- 1:41:20I hope that Pride would. He didn't before with Mars.
- 1:41:23So my trust is a little broken. But I'm not going to go through
- 1:41:26every single potential coaching hire and their resume and all
- 1:41:29these things. I want a culture fit.
- 1:41:31I want somebody who loves Blacksburg.
- 1:41:33I want somebody who loves Bud Foster.
- 1:41:36I want somebody who who can really Foster under oh, wait,
- 1:41:40pun intended. Pun intended.
- 1:41:42Under that under that care. I don't have like somebody in
- 1:41:46mind. I don't I I just want them to
- 1:41:48play Virginia textile defense and I want us to be aggressive
- 1:41:5210 our years back and get blown out on 3rd downs as usual.
- 1:41:55Yeah. I mean, let's talk about this
- 1:41:57comment from Andrew, because, you know, I think this is kind
- 1:41:59of at the crux of the two, the two biggest names that have been
- 1:42:03floated out there in terms of AP and Jeff Collins.
- 1:42:08You know, I, I, I like the point here.
- 1:42:11The only thing that I will say is that we've talked about pride
- 1:42:17needing somebody that can help him with in game management.
- 1:42:21That's been a big problem off and on throughout his his
- 1:42:26tenure. It shows up big time in one
- 1:42:28score games because when it's tight, you see the flaws a lot
- 1:42:31easier. And we we've seen the flaws in
- 1:42:34one score games, prize decision making and crunch time.
- 1:42:38So Jeff Collins could potentially help with that.
- 1:42:41I'm still at the point where Jeff Collins rubs a lot of
- 1:42:45people the wrong way. I don't know how good he would
- 1:42:50be in this footprint. Was Jeff Collins, don't know if
- 1:42:53North Carolina this year? I don't know if I.
- 1:42:55Trust the coach that gave. 70 Burger Did they have a?
- 1:42:58Did they have a? Basketball school, Yeah, right.
- 1:43:01They did, yeah. That motherfucker can't come
- 1:43:03here and coach. He.
- 1:43:06Gave up seventy point you. Need resume guy to be a game
- 1:43:13manager. Does that person really have to
- 1:43:15have a big resume? I almost feel like you go to
- 1:43:17tech sideline and bring on David Cunningham and he would game
- 1:43:20manage pretty well. My fucking nephews playing NCAA
- 1:43:29kid game man is better than we fucking.
- 1:43:31Game. Man, find the 100th best NCAA
- 1:43:37player and they're going to. But if you wouldn't have an
- 1:43:42adult, do it. Shelton.
- 1:43:43Shelton is my first, first, second, third, 4th and 5th
- 1:43:46choice to be the game manager. Got Sheldon is my stats child I
- 1:43:50love. Him could make it tonight, but.
- 1:43:55Back to the question though, what Curtis said and what Curtis
- 1:43:59said and and Lavar just put it up as well.
- 1:44:02I never paid attention, but JM U's deep defensive coordinator
- 1:44:05would be a good hire. But just thinking about things
- 1:44:08like logically now, it's like if some of these people were the
- 1:44:12hire, why wouldn't they be there?
- 1:44:15Like if Jeff Collins was the guy we're trying to get portal
- 1:44:18people in, why is he not there if Lyle him?
- 1:44:22Why? Why have we done so good with
- 1:44:24the ease in this transfer portal cycle, right?
- 1:44:27So it's not so much that I think of like what I want.
- 1:44:30Or what I think is good. I'm just thinking like what it
- 1:44:35could be. I'm trying to I'm trying to play
- 1:44:36clue. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:44:38I'm trying to do this and I just want y'all to like, he said.
- 1:44:41Make the hire and it be good. What if money were not an object
- 1:44:46and we could hire anyone that may be available here in this
- 1:44:49offseason because of a firing? I'm just saying Brent Venables
- 1:44:53is right there. After he just lost the Navy.
- 1:44:57But he ain't. He's still coaching, though.
- 1:44:59Yes, he's still a great defensive coordinator.
- 1:45:03Yeah, he's a good defensive coordinator, though.
- 1:45:04He just, I don't think he's a good head coach.
- 1:45:06He's Oklahoma. He's not a shattered.
- 1:45:08He's he's been a he's been shattered after leaving Dabo
- 1:45:12Swing. I I just no, I don't, I don't
- 1:45:14think Venables. I mean, if we're if we're
- 1:45:16fantasy booking, we got all the money in the world.
- 1:45:19Fucking Nick Saban's on college. I mean, you know, so get.
- 1:45:25Out of a job to pay your people? As a coordinator, let's go.
- 1:45:28Let's go get. Saban's Yeah.
- 1:45:31Michael Vick is a coach, is a hit, Yeah.
- 1:45:33Michael Vick is a coach at North Norfolk State.
- 1:45:36Yeah. Deshawn.
- 1:45:37Jackson Deshawn Jackson is coaching.
- 1:45:40Bill Belichick is coaching in college.
- 1:45:42Like what is going on right now? This is crazy.
- 1:45:46I don't know. By the way, what's?
- 1:45:49Going on with Belichick, I have no clue how to feel about it
- 1:45:51because I don't think he's going to be a good head coach at a
- 1:45:54college like situation, but he still will have more money than
- 1:46:02anything that I think we've encountered in the ACC ever.
- 1:46:06So they're really investing in the program and I can't wait to
- 1:46:11see it fall flat on its fucking face.
- 1:46:13As fuck UNC. Yeah, but but I mean, what about
- 1:46:18Bam Bam Cam? Where's Cam Chancellor at?
- 1:46:20Don't you think he could come in and do something?
- 1:46:24That ain't that ain't Cam steel. That ain't I don't think that's
- 1:46:27cams Moi think Cam is just enjoying enjoying life.
- 1:46:33So I mean cam's running. A restaurant.
- 1:46:36Yeah, Cam's enjoying life, man. Cam's got.
- 1:46:38Some people tried that too, and if you've been to Blacksburg,
- 1:46:40you know that didn't work out very.
- 1:46:41Well, hey, but I'm. Going to picture you in a
- 1:46:44second. I'm old, I'm old.
- 1:46:45Light up Tib's ass real quick, Tib.
- 1:46:48You don't know about Oklahoma culture football, because Bob
- 1:46:50Stoops was the fucking defensive coordinator of Florida in the
- 1:46:5290s when they lit fucking people up.
- 1:46:54When he got to Oklahoma in the early 2000s, Oklahoma was a
- 1:46:58fucking defensive fucking beast. They held fucking Florida State
- 1:47:02to two points in the national championship games.
- 1:47:05Guess what? The only way you score points is
- 1:47:072 points is if you sacked the fucking quarterback in the end
- 1:47:09zone. They did have offensive culture
- 1:47:13there. Over the last 25 years it has
- 1:47:16transitioned to an offensive culture.
- 1:47:18Listen, don't, don't fuck around with me about fucking football
- 1:47:20history because I follow. Hey, real, real interesting.
- 1:47:24Since Bob Stoops retired, Oklahoma's won two bowl games
- 1:47:27and 1:00. Of them did Coach Bob Stoops 1,
- 1:47:30Coach Bob Stoops the rest, Yeah. And they lost the day to the
- 1:47:33Navy. But by the way, they did the
- 1:47:35right thing. You go for two at the end of the
- 1:47:36game in the bowl game, you try to win the motherfucker.
- 1:47:39Hey, Chris, because you're down in the 75 and.
- 1:47:42And this is a topic I did not plan on bringing up tonight, but
- 1:47:45what has been that feeling with Mike taking the Norfolk State
- 1:47:48job down there, man, Because it's you live in.
- 1:47:52It and. Is an icon down there.
- 1:47:55Yeah, well, Mike's not just an icon down here, Mike's an icon
- 1:47:59nationally. I think that's one of the the
- 1:48:01best redemptive stories anybody could ever talk about.
- 1:48:04But yeah, I'm, I'm kind of torn in in the midst of it because my
- 1:48:08daughter goes to Norfolk State and she's been on my ass for not
- 1:48:13having any Norfolk State gear. And so I had to go buy stuff for
- 1:48:17Christmas just at Norfolk State. But it's a great opportunity for
- 1:48:21him and to get a lot of the kids.
- 1:48:26Y'all know, every kid is thinking, hey, I should go play
- 1:48:31big time power for football. And a lot of kids have had
- 1:48:36Norfolk State on the back burner.
- 1:48:37We're like, OK, if I don't get there, then I'm going to end up
- 1:48:39going to Norfolk State. Well, that's going to shift
- 1:48:42because they're going to have to get their one.
- 1:48:46I can still think they're going to be kids that are going to
- 1:48:48send gold P4 schools and because they're still going to love
- 1:48:51that, but you're still going to get a higher grade talent ball
- 1:48:54player, especially with ODU here in this last cycle, not taking
- 1:48:591757 kid yeah, you, but you're following.
- 1:49:02So I think it's it's huge in the area.
- 1:49:05The impact is great. Everybody's excited and he's
- 1:49:09he's going to get an opportunity.
- 1:49:10He's going to get some time. What?
- 1:49:12What? Do you think about what do you
- 1:49:13think? Because my thoughts on it was,
- 1:49:15man, why didn't Tech bring them on?
- 1:49:18But it's great for Norfolk State.
- 1:49:19It's great for the 757. I'm really excited about him
- 1:49:22going in there. Yeah, but.
- 1:49:24And he still loves Virginia Tech, right?
- 1:49:26He still loves Virginia Tech. So, yeah, he still loves Tech.
- 1:49:28Could this be sort of a farm, a farming program to where he he's
- 1:49:33recruiting, developing talent. He he's going to keep, he's
- 1:49:35going to want to win his games. But where he could funnel some
- 1:49:38talent to Virginia Tech out of the 757 after getting some
- 1:49:42snacks? Well, we got, we got, we got a
- 1:49:44big enough farm system in the 757 that because of pride,
- 1:49:48because of the relationships with Fontelle Mines and JC and
- 1:49:51all these guys, we got enough people that get the best players
- 1:49:54out of here. So it's not going to take for
- 1:49:56Mike A, I'm going to store a kid over here and I'm going to give
- 1:49:59him, Nah, there's enough, there's enough talent to go
- 1:50:01around. You know, with the new thing,
- 1:50:04with the JUCO guys going, I feel bad for a kid that's in high
- 1:50:08school right now. I'm going to be totally honest
- 1:50:10with you because unless you're a top a top tier kid, that's
- 1:50:14probably going to turn around and end up being a problem
- 1:50:16because because people have to win.
- 1:50:19OK, So they'll go get the best first, second or third best JUCO
- 1:50:22player, bring him into play for a year or two and then turn
- 1:50:25around and get and you got 2003 thousand kids jumping in a
- 1:50:28portal. That high school kid is going to
- 1:50:31have to come in and be elite and having that whole year.
- 1:50:35They're going to have to come in and know they're going to be
- 1:50:38they're going to red shirt, you know, and and it doesn't matter
- 1:50:41because they won't have the time to be better than a guy who's
- 1:50:44been on even a JUCO training table to be able to come and
- 1:50:48outperform him. Yeah, I'm telling you, man, the
- 1:50:51big, the biggest thing for most kids when they sit, man, is they
- 1:50:54just ain't, they ain't big. They haven't been eating enough
- 1:50:57at home. Mom and daddy ain't been able to
- 1:50:58feed them enough. You can get fun in to play
- 1:51:00Division One football. That is the big thing you're
- 1:51:03dealing with. So.
- 1:51:04So let's and then. Tackle this a little bit too
- 1:51:06because you know, Maddie, you brought up Cam Chancellor.
- 1:51:12What I see is that you're going to see some kids like Cam
- 1:51:18because in today's game, Cam would not have gotten AP4 ride,
- 1:51:22let's be honest. Zero chance.
- 1:51:24Yeah, zero chance in. Today's game, he would not have
- 1:51:26gotten AP4 ride. You're going to see guys like
- 1:51:28that get a chance at a Norfolk State and then when they
- 1:51:32develop, they going to take that big jump.
- 1:51:35There you go, that's it. Kim also wouldn't have been as
- 1:51:39overlooked. Now recruiting's a lot different
- 1:51:41recruiting services. That is fair, but I'm saying
- 1:51:43you're not going to see a a a a 2 1/2 star quarterback out of
- 1:51:47high school get a get AP4 look. Well, well, that's, that's kind
- 1:51:52of what I said earlier, right? I mean, that's kind of exactly
- 1:51:54what I said. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:51:55That's why I wanted to piggyback on that and kind of circle back
- 1:51:57to that point relative to the VIX situation.
- 1:52:00It's harder for the high schoolers to get in and actually
- 1:52:04get into a good program now because of the transfer portal.
- 1:52:07And like I was saying earlier, why would you roll the dice?
- 1:52:11Why when you can go out and get a known quantity?
- 1:52:14When? You can actually see how they
- 1:52:15perform on a level like this before.
- 1:52:18Yeah, there's going to be these fucking superstars that you go
- 1:52:21out and you swing on. But everything has changed
- 1:52:24because of me and I on the transfer portal.
- 1:52:26And I'm not saying it's bad. Honestly, I think it gives us an
- 1:52:29advantage over a lot of programs because we still have like a top
- 1:52:3330 NIL. We're still in a good position
- 1:52:35to where we can go out and we can swing and we can Moneyball
- 1:52:38and we can put a good team together out of nowhere.
- 1:52:41Yes, we can. So it's not necessarily bad, it
- 1:52:44just sucks for these high schoolers.
- 1:52:46Yeah, High school program right now.
- 1:52:48It's, it's, it's crazy right now for high school kids just trying
- 1:52:51to get recruited. One of my, my good friends, his
- 1:52:54son is going to ECU as a linebacker coming out of
- 1:52:58Huntsville, AL. So it, it's just watching him go
- 1:53:02through that, the, the recruiting.
- 1:53:04Yeah, watching him go through the recruiting process and, you
- 1:53:07know, listening to his stories and things like that, it's
- 1:53:10crazy. And it takes a lot of work for a
- 1:53:12high school kid that has talent to get to the next level because
- 1:53:17of the transfer portal and how many people are in it and things
- 1:53:20like that. But I'm have to hop out for you
- 1:53:22guys in just a minute. I did want to say something,
- 1:53:24though, before I get out of here because I've seen a couple
- 1:53:26people talking about it in the chat and just reiterating on it.
- 1:53:30Like Mike Vick, that's my guy. Like that's when somebody says
- 1:53:34like, who is your heroes even on and off the court, like Mike
- 1:53:38Victoria and Kobe is, is that's my heroes.
- 1:53:41And not just because of what they did on the court is because
- 1:53:43they made mistakes and they came back from a different way, you
- 1:53:48know what I'm saying? And they addressed those issues
- 1:53:49and and got better from them. But when we're just talking
- 1:53:54football and not, you know, the love of a of a player or what
- 1:53:58he's done on the field, Virginia Tech couldn't.
- 1:54:01Like I've seen people keep saying Virginia Tech couldn't
- 1:54:03bring Michael Vick in and make him a coach.
- 1:54:05I mean, they could, but if it fails, where does he go from
- 1:54:07there? You know, it's kind of the same
- 1:54:10thing of like, I feel so bad for Jay Ham because Jay Ham had 0
- 1:54:14experience and he got thrown into being a defensive
- 1:54:17coordinator and we fucking ate him up and he'll never be able
- 1:54:21to coach up Virginia Tech again because because of what he did
- 1:54:24his first stint. So what if Mike Vick comes in,
- 1:54:26he tries to help with the quarterbacks or does something
- 1:54:29to some extent with zero coaching experience and it turns
- 1:54:33out horrible and then like you've ruined the legend.
- 1:54:37Nobody wants to see that. So he has to go that route of
- 1:54:41feel how you want to feel about Dionne.
- 1:54:43I feel like Dionne talks too much sometime, but I got to give
- 1:54:46Dionne his credit. Dionne went that route.
- 1:54:49He went to Jackson State, he said I'm going to go and get the
- 1:54:53best. He got Travis Hunter and he
- 1:54:55turned Travis Hunter into a Heisman Trophy winner.
- 1:54:59You know, I got to give Dean that credit.
- 1:55:00I'm not saying Mike Vick will do that, but he did open eyes for
- 1:55:03people to give, you know, former athletes a chance.
- 1:55:08Because when you have somebody like them or Michael Vick or
- 1:55:11even Deshaun Jackson, I don't know how where it goes.
- 1:55:14But I'm saying in the old style of football, In the old style of
- 1:55:18football, they probably wouldn't have gave them chance.
- 1:55:20And you got other people coaching too.
- 1:55:22We got other. Players coaching Georgia.
- 1:55:25You got any George out? There any Georgians coaching
- 1:55:28doing a good job at at Tennessee State.
- 1:55:32So it things are changing. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:55:35And I, and I'm glad to see it, but I don't want to not say
- 1:55:38nobody, nobody said, oh, go ahead, go ahead.
- 1:55:42But to your point about Michael Vick, everybody, because I've
- 1:55:44seen some of these hate comments too, and I want to punch him in
- 1:55:47the face, but I'm not. I'm going to the Bugs Bunny and
- 1:55:49kiss him on the cheek. But if you haven't read his
- 1:55:52book, then I suggest you do so before you have any judgments
- 1:55:56about that man. He served his time, he did what
- 1:55:59he he had to do. He's admitted to his wrongs and
- 1:56:02hit in his book. It's very clearly laid out about
- 1:56:05the man that he is now. So for all the Michael Vick
- 1:56:08hate, get the fuck out of here. That boy from the 757.
- 1:56:12Him and Allen Iverson changed both the perspective sports.
- 1:56:15They both came from Virginia and put some respect on that man's
- 1:56:18name. Because of what he's done.
- 1:56:22Michael Vick, because he's what he's done afterwards, has done
- 1:56:25more for animal advocacy and actually advancing taking care
- 1:56:31of animals than almost anyone else in existence.
- 1:56:34So fuck all y'all but also people don't.
- 1:56:36Understand the. Cultural.
- 1:56:39Nation in which these things are fostered.
- 1:56:41It's a there's a there's a whole bunch behind it.
- 1:56:44So before you have a stupid opinion online like I do often,
- 1:56:48try to at least read into it a little bit.
- 1:56:52Michael Vick is a good. Man, that'll take you down a
- 1:56:55whole another. Rabbit, you know, I've always
- 1:57:03wanted to sit down with Dwight and tell them, Zach, how I feel
- 1:57:05about it. Most people won't understand it.
- 1:57:08Some people will understand it. But you.
- 1:57:10Know yeah, yeah, that's a totally.
- 1:57:15Different conversation. I had a conversation with some
- 1:57:19true animal lovers about that situation and they probably
- 1:57:24think I'm the Antichrist or something because of what I said
- 1:57:26about a couple of different things that was going on.
- 1:57:30And this was right in the middle of it.
- 1:57:32Because I can't believe you support him during this.
- 1:57:34And I'm like man, I didn't see some stuff where I come from.
- 1:57:38I'm just tell you like y'all see people going out and killing
- 1:57:41elephants and Jaguars and stuff like that.
- 1:57:43Like that stuff look weird to me.
- 1:57:44But when I see anyway, I ain't going to get on that tonight,
- 1:57:47y'all. I got to get off here.
- 1:57:49I love y'all. But don't have a good one man
- 1:57:51enjoy which wife. Man, win some money for me.
- 1:57:54Man, I'm about to go bet on some games.
- 1:58:00Hell. Yeah, you think?
- 1:58:02Something about Michael? Vick, Something about Michael
- 1:58:05Vick that doesn't ever get brought up that I like that
- 1:58:08people need to realize is this man, he could have filed Chapter
- 1:58:127 bankruptcy and not paid shit. Like he would have been off the
- 1:58:15hook. Like you could have liquidated
- 1:58:17his assets. He wouldn't have owed any money.
- 1:58:18He chose to file to to pay his debts back completely.
- 1:58:24All of my my. Millions of dollars.
- 1:58:26He chose to pay it back. Character well.
- 1:58:29I mean, again, because I grew up in Blacksburg, he's he's a lot
- 1:58:33different to me. Kids couldn't afford school
- 1:58:36clothes before he showed up in Blacksburg.
- 1:58:39Yep, we were automatic ran through this town because of
- 1:58:41Michael Vick. We were I love Michael or and I
- 1:58:44love my dogs, man, I love it I. Mean Michael Michael Vick.
- 1:58:47I mean, my parents are more affluent.
- 1:58:49A lot of my friends parents are more affluent only because the
- 1:58:53area became more profitable and that only happened on the legs
- 1:58:56of Michael Vick and so he will always be hero to me.
- 1:58:59You didn't even need to try here.
- 1:59:00You could just sit on real estate forever and you'd be rich
- 1:59:03in Blacksburg. It was worth fucking dirt.
- 1:59:07I love this entire thing and I, I made a whole thing about it.
- 1:59:10Like it's everyone in Blacksburg just like, Oh no, we need to
- 1:59:14stay this little small town and they idealized like the 19
- 1:59:18fucking 50s when no one wanted to fucking live here.
- 1:59:21It's ridiculous. There is a huge contingent in
- 1:59:25this town that wants to hold the entire goddamn fucking town back
- 1:59:29all the time, and it's ridiculous.
- 1:59:33And hey, that's just Jeremy. Blacksburg on the On the rocks,
- 1:59:36ladies. And gentlemen, rocks, we just.
- 1:59:38Miss that? Often, so they might need to go
- 1:59:43and get some experience under his belt because there's a
- 1:59:46difference between being a high level player and being able to
- 1:59:49coach on a high level. It's two different, two
- 1:59:51different things. Get some experience and then I
- 1:59:53would love to see him again. Honestly, that would make my
- 1:59:56heart sing. I would.
- 1:59:58Love to, it's also a different thing, but if shame when it came
- 2:00:02here 1st and failed he'd have been fucked too.
- 2:00:04Well, there's play. There's play left, and there's
- 2:00:06still a Game of Thrones redemption arc for him.
- 2:00:08The banished son returns to claim the King's throne.
- 2:00:12There's still that arc. For shame.
- 2:00:14I don't know we. Know how Chris feels?
- 2:00:19About Shane, we know. How Chris feels about Shane
- 2:00:25Beamer that. Whole fantasy about Shane on
- 2:00:27your own, yeah. But I guess, I guess from
- 2:00:30somebody, you know, like me, I guess, and maybe this is stupid,
- 2:00:33maybe it's ignorant. I just want somebody who has to
- 2:00:37care about it. Like I feel like Shane would
- 2:00:39have to care about it because it's his.
- 2:00:41Dad, I think. I mean, I think.
- 2:00:43Like that, I want somebody who. Cares.
- 2:00:46I feel like pride has to care about no.
- 2:00:48Prep no pride care about it? Don't.
- 2:00:50Care he don't. He don't care about it.
- 2:00:52It is. This was his bump.
- 2:00:55Yeah, this, this, this next year is he's got to make, he's got to
- 2:01:00make a stride. He he had a shirt out last year
- 2:01:053. I got it.
- 2:01:06Oh, hold on. Yeah, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:01:08Hey. Man, that, that shirt is
- 2:01:12everything, you know what I'm saying?
- 2:01:13And, and I'm and I'm a gearhound and that's the one shirt that I
- 2:01:17don't have. It's two shirts I don't.
- 2:01:18Have. I don't have that I've.
- 2:01:19Been dying to get but that three, that 37 question mark
- 2:01:22one, there you go. Go and go and show it.
- 2:01:25That's huge That that question. Yeah, that that question mark
- 2:01:31shirt was supposed to be double digit wins.
- 2:01:33Now he's got he's got to be to the point.
- 2:01:35Whatever slogan they come in this year, it's got to be about
- 2:01:38getting to 8-9 wins. You know what I'm saying?
- 2:01:43It's a six shirt still. Oh, it's still high.
- 2:01:49Yeah. And so, so that's that's, that's
- 2:01:51you. That's that's.
- 2:01:52That's. That's the number, so you're.
- 2:01:54Saying dove dove emojis in the chat.
- 2:01:56So at at best it's going to be 377 at this point.
- 2:02:00Yeah, it's going to be 377. Yeah, yeah, it's 377.
- 2:02:03But this this year is huge. This everything was pointing
- 2:02:06towards, you know, we thought 23 but the every them coming back,
- 2:02:11we had this high expectation of everybody was going to come back
- 2:02:14and tick up. But I'm going to be told on.
- 2:02:18To you I. I think only a few guys ticked
- 2:02:21up to the next level like we talked about, yeah.
- 2:02:27You guys picked up? Yeah, they didn't.
- 2:02:29Yeah, right. Yeah.
- 2:02:32So base all ticked up. APR ticked up, I think.
- 2:02:39Yeah, that's that, that's it for me.
- 2:02:41That that took that next step. That took the next step.
- 2:02:44You know what I'm saying? Jay Lane was hurt.
- 2:02:47You know Jim SPTI just got to say Pratt cares about it.
- 2:02:52It's the only thing that get him out of Penn State.
- 2:02:56No, a few extra $1,000,000 a year will also get him out of
- 2:02:59Penn State. Let's not like.
- 2:03:03So we can say that there. Was probably only a handful.
- 2:03:05Of jobs, probably. Would have taken out of Penn
- 2:03:07State. Let's let's be honest, there was
- 2:03:08a handful of jobs probably have taken out of Penn State so.
- 2:03:12This is one of SO. He cares, but he.
- 2:03:15Would not point if he didn't give a shit.
- 2:03:18Exactly. Oh yeah.
- 2:03:20Because hold on. Because this is going to go
- 2:03:21back, you're right. The last guy, because the last
- 2:03:23guy gave a shit. He was hired about three to four
- 2:03:26people. Woodson ticked up.
- 2:03:28Oh yeah, Woodson. Yeah, Woodson definitely ticked
- 2:03:30up. Yeah, Woodson took some, but
- 2:03:32Woodson was coming. Let's talk about Jayden Keller.
- 2:03:35Jayden Keller finally took the step we were expecting.
- 2:03:37It's probably a year too late game, six year later than we
- 2:03:41wanted it to be. But I think it came with him
- 2:03:43having but that that's when him coming having a true Mike
- 2:03:46Brumfield, even though he may have been undersized, he was
- 2:03:48still a true Mike to kind of show him.
- 2:03:50And they've done that here. Just from what I've seen,
- 2:03:53canteen was the guy that kind of get Monsieur and strong to the
- 2:03:56point you can feel they were good out there.
- 2:03:58That's why they kind of brought these these cornerbacks in to
- 2:04:00kind of, you know, mentor Lovett, mentor the Josh Clarkson
- 2:04:06and and the Christian Williamson and things like that to mentor a
- 2:04:10Curettic. So that's what's going to end up
- 2:04:11happening. The kid from ECU is a film.
- 2:04:14How? Dude, that dude.
- 2:04:16Yeah, right. He is the He is the new canteen.
- 2:04:19Right. So the, the the only, the only
- 2:04:21thing we've never had here is a true might.
- 2:04:26The only problem is he gets there January, he gets there
- 2:04:28January 19th. When he gets there, you're going
- 2:04:32to you're going to have to kind of do what Dabo did with Sammy
- 2:04:34Brown and you're going to have to live with some of the
- 2:04:37mistakes. You're going to have to live
- 2:04:39with it, play Keller, play Clatter Bomb and live with some
- 2:04:42of the mistakes. It's so it's, it's going to be,
- 2:04:45it's going to be very much. Dax Hollyfield, 2018.
- 2:04:48Come on, you have to live with. A little bit of that.
- 2:04:50You've got to live with a little bit for the upside of what he
- 2:04:52going to end up be. But then you butter Noah
- 2:04:54Chambers beside him. Noah, Noah Chambers being, you
- 2:04:57know, the kind of Fred Warner type kind of kid having that,
- 2:05:01doing that, you know, my heart goes out to my dude, you know,
- 2:05:04and everybody keep praying for my man Gabe.
- 2:05:06Gabe, Gabe is your extra. He's your extra recruit in 26
- 2:05:11because he'll be back. He'll be back then motivated
- 2:05:15bigger, stronger, faster. And that's what's going to
- 2:05:19happen then. So that that's that's the
- 2:05:21biggest thing. You're up the middle is going to
- 2:05:23be you're going to have a fall off somewhat, but I still think
- 2:05:28Gilliam is going to be fine. Copeland, Copeland going to come
- 2:05:31back healthy. Gerard Johnson is going to come
- 2:05:33in there and be able to play. You're going to have you're
- 2:05:35going to have hand Chuck be able to play on the outside.
- 2:05:37You're going to get some guys like that.
- 2:05:39Ace and Stevens is going to be. Dandy's going to be good.
- 2:05:42Ace and Stevens has. Has looked good.
- 2:05:47Man, if he can ramp that up to 40 snaps a game.
- 2:05:50Yeah, but the thing about it is you're going to be able to have
- 2:05:52guys, you know, the since the sincere kid.
- 2:05:55Yeah, I'm tampering. They said the portal, You know,
- 2:05:57I would love him to come here and, you know, and and be able
- 2:06:00to match up with him and him and him and Ace and, you know,
- 2:06:03Burgos on the other side and just.
- 2:06:05And then Dandy. I'm just looking at it like
- 2:06:07that. So.
- 2:06:08Chris, everybody, everybody else tampering you might as.
- 2:06:11Well, do it. Hey man, I'm on the Darius great
- 2:06:14tampering deal because I need as many offensive lines as.
- 2:06:17I can get, man. Hey, and why are we tampering?
- 2:06:19Why are we tampering? Kyle Altuner, brother.
- 2:06:22Oh. Baby, come on home.
- 2:06:25Baby, come on. Home.
- 2:06:27The crib is the crib, baby. Let's do this.
- 2:06:30Got me shit. They should get everybody else.
- 2:06:32Also, Tib Tib brought up a really good point earlier.
- 2:06:36Yeah, absolutely calls out dogs. Yes, he does.
- 2:06:41Overton. Overton is going to be him.
- 2:06:44Good call Bag on him at law. Oh man, Bags Bags is on fire.
- 2:06:48Yeah, Bags is on fire tonight. Yeah, I forgot about I forgot
- 2:06:51about Aaron Donald 2 point O the.
- 2:06:52The only thing in the comment section?
- 2:06:55James Gilmore. Y'all know anything about
- 2:06:57Priester from Hampton? I know he follows Anthony
- 2:06:59Poindexter on Twitter. And he's not the only one.
- 2:07:06Yeah, he's not the only one. So I, I, he's.
- 2:07:08Not the only one. Yeah, I, I just think that we're
- 2:07:11going to, we're going to continue to be a school that
- 2:07:13we're going to prize, going to live in that in that high school
- 2:07:16area. And I think if we do get API,
- 2:07:19think it's going to be able to help us get some of those
- 2:07:22Pennsylvania recruits, get some of those New Jersey recruits,
- 2:07:25still stay solid in, in Virginia because I think we got a good,
- 2:07:29we, we boarded, we batten down the hatches.
- 2:07:31Nobody's coming in here getting all the guys.
- 2:07:33And we can go hit the barreling Catholics as hard as we have,
- 2:07:35and even harder now. Right, we can go get those cats.
- 2:07:38So I, I definitely think that that's going going to be good.
- 2:07:41I I, you know, y'all were saying about Poindex.
- 2:07:43I, he was the one guy that when we were, when we were recruiting
- 2:07:47and he was the only guy that talked to us.
- 2:07:49He was the only guy that went to talked to us.
- 2:07:50We went to Penn State and and it was really a disappointing trip
- 2:07:55for the kid because we had did that time that's we had did a
- 2:07:58trip. We went we came to tech, then we
- 2:08:03went to Pittsburgh and we and we did West Virginia.
- 2:08:08Then we did we went went up to Ohio to see my my in laws and we
- 2:08:11came and did Pittsburgh and we thought Penn State was going to
- 2:08:13be the cream of the crop and it was highly disappointing.
- 2:08:17Love James Franklin didn't talk to the wide receiver coach and
- 2:08:21Anthony Poindex was the only one that sat there and talked to me
- 2:08:23and my wife the whole time. Good, good coach, good coach,
- 2:08:26good guy, solid guy. When we came back up there
- 2:08:28because the kid wasn't going to go back, he was like, hey, I'm
- 2:08:31not going going back up here for nothing.
- 2:08:33They I mean, it was so bad. We, we went to the junior day
- 2:08:39kind of like our hokey, like our, our hokey fest where the,
- 2:08:42the class, the 20, I think at that time it was a 22 class, 23
- 2:08:46class. They were all coming.
- 2:08:47And then you had your high, high no liable 23 guys.
- 2:08:51And when Key went there, he, you know, he was like, man, I, I
- 2:08:54don't even like it. And then matter of fact, the
- 2:08:57wide receiver coach came down in the hotel.
- 2:08:59He was walking past us and he was like yeah, I'm about to go
- 2:09:02holler at one of my buddies and didn't even talk to Keith.
- 2:09:04He said OK well that kind of ends the deal for me.
- 2:09:07I'm not coming back up here Yeah and and yeah so you know they
- 2:09:12they kind of were out but but point that's to talk to us the
- 2:09:16whole time was very personable. Good, good guy.
- 2:09:18Remember this when we came back up for the Penn State, Ohio
- 2:09:21State game? We don't mean we went there that
- 2:09:23time because we wanted to see Marvin Harris in the real life.
- 2:09:25I ain't gonna lie to you. That's what I wanted.
- 2:09:29Real quick, follow this coaching.
- 2:09:31Staff. This coaching staff since day
- 2:09:33one when they decided to recruit the portal because the first
- 2:09:36year it was many portal guys, which I think we all said was
- 2:09:40you lay the culture, whoever's here, if you're good enough to
- 2:09:42play, you play. They have hit the portal pretty
- 2:09:47fun good. They are good at actually
- 2:09:49analyzing guys and saying that guy fits, that guy fits, that
- 2:09:53guy fits. Thank you for bringing that up.
- 2:09:55But y'all, what else is going to happen because the the move
- 2:09:58looks like Poindexter. Poindexter is the guy at safety
- 2:10:04and he's going to be the DC. Go ahead.
- 2:10:08Put the one James put up. James is always on here with us.
- 2:10:13It does that happen? Yes, yes.
- 2:10:18I think right now you're, he's like auditioning for this,
- 2:10:21right? Because he's, he's leading the
- 2:10:23bowl prep and he's he's coaching it in the bowl.
- 2:10:26So there would be some sort of proof in the pudding, so to
- 2:10:32speak, on that one. Yes.
- 2:10:35That that's, you know, we talked about as far as coaching
- 2:10:37changes, you know, Ferg being the in house hired that we're
- 2:10:40comfortable with. If AP is the guy, ADB at
- 2:10:44linebackers is the only other in house hire that I'm good with.
- 2:10:48Absolutely, Absolutely. And I guess I mean, there have
- 2:10:52been talked or people brought it up, I guess out of, you know,
- 2:10:55all season boredom or whatever. But JSJ is don't have a job and
- 2:11:01he's great with high school recruiting and DNS.
- 2:11:05Would they would they put our guy JC just on defensive tackles
- 2:11:11and bring this guy in for the edges and the in home high
- 2:11:15school recruiting Jeremy don't laugh at.
- 2:11:17Edging though is AP bringing anybody with him because you're
- 2:11:20breaking this with. The guy and.
- 2:11:22Getting well, Those conversations are happening,
- 2:11:25Dave. Well, I, I'm just I, I just
- 2:11:27think it's kind of silly. I know nothing.
- 2:11:29We're not in a position, I don't know, a.
- 2:11:31Damn thing I'm talking about. Pride.
- 2:11:33Pride is not in a. Position good for Maddie.
- 2:11:36Pride is not in a position to promote from within.
- 2:11:39Why? Not you're not wrong.
- 2:11:41Because he's not wrong, because nobody under him would have been
- 2:11:44fostered. Well, now, that doesn't mean
- 2:11:46that somebody down there doesn't deserve it.
- 2:11:49I've been passed over a lot of times for positions that I
- 2:11:52thought that I really earned and deserved.
- 2:11:54But the the company didn't need it at the time.
- 2:11:56They needed some outside influence to come in and change
- 2:11:59things around a little bit. So that doesn't mean that
- 2:12:01anybody below there doesn't deserve it or they couldn't do
- 2:12:04the job. Pry in.
- 2:12:05This may be his last season. If he doesn't have a winning one
- 2:12:09is not in a position to promote from within on a 500 team.
- 2:12:13You have to bring in somebody from the outside.
- 2:12:16All right, so let me let me throw this action because
- 2:12:18because what we're doing here, what we're doing here, right?
- 2:12:21So if you bring in an APA PS coaches safety, that means
- 2:12:23Pearson's probably taking a off the field roll again.
- 2:12:27So you're still back in a situation where you've got one
- 2:12:30guy that pretty much is a in house hireright because Pearson
- 2:12:36outside of his credentials that he didn't personally attained,
- 2:12:40he he wasn't a coach before he took this off field role, right.
- 2:12:44So I would be good with the DB stepping into that role when you
- 2:12:47got somebody like AP stepping into safeties and Prelo taking
- 2:12:52more of an off the field or at least a secondary type position
- 2:12:56role within this organization because you're trading one for
- 2:12:59the other. Well, I don't mind guys stepping
- 2:13:00up in ancillary roles. I I don't mind assistant coaches
- 2:13:04being promoted from within. I think with the DC though, I
- 2:13:07think it has to be an outside hire.
- 2:13:09Oh, yeah, yeah. You saying, you saying the
- 2:13:12coordinator for these? Yeah, You saying for the
- 2:13:14coordinators, the guy, Yeah. OK, but I just understood you
- 2:13:17there, Maddie. Yeah.
- 2:13:18Ain't no fucking way we hire in internal for that for that.
- 2:13:22No. Last time we do that in the
- 2:13:24short term. Right.
- 2:13:25And and, and, and on the same note, you already had a world
- 2:13:29class strength and conditioning guy in the building before we
- 2:13:32brought in Deej. I love Deej is a good guy, but
- 2:13:35Jared Ferguson was a world class.
- 2:13:37He already had everything in there and I think he's going to
- 2:13:39change the culture with the strength and condition.
- 2:13:42I mean, I was cracking up when I cracked up, when, you know, I
- 2:13:47was talking to Dan, I was talking to the kid, you know,
- 2:13:50first day, you know, we ain't got no music.
- 2:13:52We came to work. I love that about Ferguson.
- 2:13:54So I love Coach Ferguson, I love, you know, I love the old
- 2:13:57staff. But I think that higher within
- 2:14:00changes the culture. I think it changes the culture.
- 2:14:03Yeah, culture is big and I think, you know, you talk about
- 2:14:06the music. I mean, there, there's something
- 2:14:07to that. I think Ferg is going to bring
- 2:14:10an edge to strength and conditioning that we haven't
- 2:14:14seen. And we talked about it a few
- 2:14:16weeks back, like my day, you had to be fucking afraid of your
- 2:14:20strength and the conditioning coach.
- 2:14:21You did not want to see that motherfucker walk in the
- 2:14:24building you. You wanted to have a a healthy
- 2:14:26fear of that person because he you know that he's going to push
- 2:14:30you to your absolute fucking edge.
- 2:14:32Absolutely. So I, I, I, I like, I think, I
- 2:14:34think getting AP will be three home runs.
- 2:14:39And I just think you're going to have to do what they didn't want
- 2:14:43to do before and that's go play the young guys.
- 2:14:46There's, there's some younger this, this 25 class is amazing.
- 2:14:52You know, I've, I've had it on record.
- 2:14:54I damn, they got everything I wanted for Christmas.
- 2:14:57You know, I got, I got the Loach, I got, you know, out and
- 2:15:02going to Penn State was the only thing that I didn't get on my
- 2:15:04wish list. But my number one thing on my
- 2:15:06card was Jeffrey Overton, junior and Lord, you know, you know, I
- 2:15:11had to ask the kid how he was doing and, you know, he said
- 2:15:13little Jeff was out there acting up doing bowl practices.
- 2:15:17So I'm excited about him. So yeah, I think they're going
- 2:15:21to have to play those young kids and, and just let let the tips
- 2:15:25fall where they may. They're going to either love it
- 2:15:26here or want to stay here. But you're going to have to play
- 2:15:29them because we saw every time we saw a young kid play last
- 2:15:32year, they showed out. They showed out.
- 2:15:34And let's talk about how all all these fucking ranking systems
- 2:15:40punished Overton for for what was going on with Pops, because
- 2:15:46that was a fucked up situation. Not even his dad or his uncle.
- 2:15:49I was confused as the article. I, I don't give a damn what it
- 2:15:52was. I I am not the only person in
- 2:15:56this rating system thing that I'm in love with is Kobe
- 2:16:01Crawford. Everybody else I'm not really a
- 2:16:04fan of because I watched it happen to Jeffrey Overton
- 2:16:08Junior, I watched it happen to Chance Wiggins.
- 2:16:12I watched it happen to Garage Johnson.
- 2:16:15Allen Adams. Hey man, I don't, you know.
- 2:16:17Yeah. Hey, you happen.
- 2:16:19Hey. We like the Matthews, Michael.
- 2:16:21Mad Brett. Platterball.
- 2:16:23I seen kids drop just because they came here, not because they
- 2:16:26couldn't and it would be like they didn't even do nothing on
- 2:16:28the field. But for Jeff to be down 3334 in
- 2:16:33the state, I'm telling you, I'm, I'm selfish.
- 2:16:36I was glad he was down there so folks who could forget about
- 2:16:39him. So when we got him, they would
- 2:16:41stop forgetting about, But he was probably, he's a top 3-4
- 2:16:44player in the state of Virginia hands down.
- 2:16:47Absolutely. That dude, That dude right there
- 2:16:50alone, I can say it. He's the only kid that kept my
- 2:16:53kid from being a Gatorade player of the year.
- 2:16:56He was the only kid to stop my kid from being Gatorade player
- 2:16:59of the year. That's how good Jeff is.
- 2:17:01That's how amazing. Record-breaking receiver.
- 2:17:04Come on, man. Keenan Adams, right, 22 state
- 2:17:07records and Jeffrey Olmans is the tag on Gatorade Player.
- 2:17:09Of the year, that's how good. Jeff is Jeff is a monster, man.
- 2:17:13Jeff is a monster. Hey, so let let's talk about
- 2:17:17because we talked a little bit about like the shuffling and and
- 2:17:20we talked about a little bit on defense.
- 2:17:22Is there some shuffling that could happen on the offensive
- 2:17:24side of the ball from a coaching standpoint?
- 2:17:26And what would that look like? I don't.
- 2:17:28I don't. Well, I think you made your
- 2:17:30biggest move when you got the old line coach, I think.
- 2:17:33I think the one thing is tight ends, I like them.
- 2:17:37I love keeping Brent Davis on the on the set.
- 2:17:39I love him. I think getting Stu to just
- 2:17:44focus on special teams because there was a point in time of
- 2:17:47season Stu was not my best friend during the season.
- 2:17:50I was I was really upset when I was really upset with Coach
- 2:17:53Hope. I'll be honest with you.
- 2:17:57Come on. Champ, I mean, there was a game
- 2:17:59that I can name in every game there was a problem.
- 2:18:02You know, we don't want to go back to 00, you know what I'm
- 2:18:05saying? We don't want to talk about
- 2:18:06getting a black punt against Marshall.
- 2:18:08We want to talk about having 2 numbers the same again and not
- 2:18:11getting called for it. Come on man.
- 2:18:12Miami. Hey, but that's my dog.
- 2:18:14I love Sue, but hey, Sue was on Sue was on the fence, but you
- 2:18:18know, Sue did some things to make make things come back, you
- 2:18:21know, just keep. Yeah, that that, that that block
- 2:18:23kick for a touchdown in the Clemson game was pretty crazy.
- 2:18:26And he got away with, he got away with a lot of murder
- 2:18:29because of that. I mean.
- 2:18:31He's always had all all all world kicker, punter and return.
- 2:18:35I mean, I mean still. He develops his his specialist.
- 2:18:38I'll give. Him that I mean he develops.
- 2:18:40It and you see everything happen.
- 2:18:41I think the question goes is if Brent, David, because you said
- 2:18:46coach Davis at tight end, Chris. I like him now.
- 2:18:50Because remember now NCAA's blowing the fuck up.
- 2:18:52It's not the way we grew up with it in all of us.
- 2:18:55I know we I'm we're all in this same about 10 years span.
- 2:18:59Maddie, I know you're in your mid 30s, so we're all in this
- 2:19:03about 10 years span. Is if.
- 2:19:05Stu Holt literally gets named special teams coordinator.
- 2:19:09He could be special teams coordinator but never go on the
- 2:19:12road as a one of the 11. You all know that, right?
- 2:19:17Right, OK. You know that like he could be
- 2:19:19the special teams coordinator but but not be assigned to one
- 2:19:22of the guys who goes on the road.
- 2:19:24That shit can happen nowadays. Like you can have an offensive,
- 2:19:27a defensive coordinator and then never go on the road to be a
- 2:19:31recruiter. Yeah.
- 2:19:33OK. Like because, because vice
- 2:19:35versa. Everything is shaped now in the
- 2:19:38NCAA. You don't have to have yet a
- 2:19:40doors open back there. If y'all didn't notice, you see
- 2:19:43my hats. It's all good.
- 2:19:45OK, Speaking of backgrounds, I have to address this before it
- 2:19:47bursts out of my chest like an alien.
- 2:19:50Matty B, you have more Ghostbuster like memorabilia in
- 2:19:55your background than anyone I've ever seen and I fucking love it
- 2:19:58because I love Ghostbusters more than fucking anything.
- 2:20:01The first Ghostbusters I think is probably my favorite film of
- 2:20:05all time. It's, it's mine as well.
- 2:20:07And yes, I, it is a, it is a thing.
- 2:20:11Once I made it up, I grew up poor.
- 2:20:13I grew up in Blacksburg, VA. I mean, we, I grew up in a
- 2:20:16trailer park by Ramble Ridge Rd. I don't know if you guys know
- 2:20:19where that is in black by the airfield.
- 2:20:22But before those townhouses were, there was a trailer park.
- 2:20:24And so I was poor. So the second I got enough
- 2:20:27money, I decided I was going to make my own thing.
- 2:20:29So I built my own Proton pack. I have my, my flight suit back
- 2:20:33there and I use that. I go out, we raise money.
- 2:20:37Last year we did about $25,000 for the for the kids.
- 2:20:41So yeah, Ghostbusters is a big thing for me, so thank you for
- 2:20:44nothing. Fuck yeah, man.
- 2:20:45Yeah, dude. Come on, man.
- 2:20:47Hey. We're talking about position
- 2:20:49shuffling maybe? Tim, that is my palace, also
- 2:20:54known as my man cave. Witness.
- 2:20:57Witness. Yeah, also I have the picture of
- 2:21:00me in the background. Good thing we're not past
- 2:21:02January 20th. There might be a drone strike
- 2:21:04coming in. That's.
- 2:21:05Right. Yeah, Dan, what you got?
- 2:21:08Quarterback Coach. Question mark, question mark.
- 2:21:11Hey, you know, you know, we we had addressed that a little bit
- 2:21:15on here. We had talked about all right,
- 2:21:17so if we're if we're if we're shuffling offensive side of the
- 2:21:20ball, are you shuffling Bowen back to tight ends and are you
- 2:21:24bringing in a QB coach? If you're if you're making Stew
- 2:21:27Holtz, your full time special teams coordinator, taking a
- 2:21:30position group away from him? Is that what you do?
- 2:21:33I think I know what Chris is going to say and Chris is going
- 2:21:35to say I don't want a tight end coach calling plays.
- 2:21:39I want my OC focus on the offense, OK?
- 2:21:43That's what I want my OC doing. But you have a quarterback
- 2:21:47coach. You have one.
- 2:21:51Brian Crist is your quarterback coach.
- 2:21:53And and if anyone doubts that Brian Crist can coach
- 2:21:56quarterbacks, his son plays at West Virginia.
- 2:21:58Ham and. Sidney, baby.
- 2:21:59Yeah, he's spotless. Baby.
- 2:22:00You know what I'm saying? So let's let's let's get that
- 2:22:03out the way. I, I just think the, the kid
- 2:22:09said something that that the staff is going to have to do and
- 2:22:13it's going to be across the board.
- 2:22:17You're going to have to kick somebody.
- 2:22:19You got to cuss somebody out. We've got this culture we want
- 2:22:23this is home. But I, I don't know about y'all,
- 2:22:25I got cussed out of my home as a kid.
- 2:22:28I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I did not love my
- 2:22:30parents any less than, you know, anybody else that's going to
- 2:22:34they're going to have to turn the heat up in some areas to
- 2:22:37challenge some kids and be able to do some certain things and
- 2:22:41they and they going to have to grow up and man up on some on
- 2:22:43certain things that make things happen.
- 2:22:45So Brian, Chris is your quarterback coach.
- 2:22:48I do want I I want, I want Brent Davis in the building.
- 2:22:51I love what he brings, especially with the run game and
- 2:22:53the different things we can throw into the run game.
- 2:22:56I want my OC focusing on the the one thing, the one thing Bowen
- 2:23:02said to me in a recruiting, he said, I'm going to get you to
- 2:23:05rock and I just need him to get guys to rock.
- 2:23:08But I believe if you can protect it, and I, I think I said this
- 2:23:11to Dan, if you can protect it, then you can run it.
- 2:23:14And if you can run it, then you can play action it.
- 2:23:16And if you can play action it, you get one-on-one coverage.
- 2:23:19If you get one-on-one coverage, we win.
- 2:23:24That's it. This is why.
- 2:23:25This is why. This is why Matt Moore is
- 2:23:27pivotal. Yep.
- 2:23:29Yes, yes. I mean, if you can do that, if
- 2:23:32you. Can if that's the higher that
- 2:23:34that hits, then that's going to change the trajectory of what
- 2:23:38this. Program but but but hold on real
- 2:23:41quick. Every single person in here
- 2:23:43Brian Siegler is Matt Moore big nut hire.
- 2:23:46Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 2:23:48Jeremy, Big nut hire. Yes.
- 2:23:51Chris. I'll throw it on the table.
- 2:23:54Dan. Massive nuts.
- 2:23:57Maddie. No.
- 2:23:59I I but no. No, give it to me, Maddie.
- 2:24:03No, let it be sad. Give it to me.
- 2:24:04Maddie, go ahead. I'm not saying no because he's
- 2:24:07terrible. I'm not saying no because he's a
- 2:24:09bad hire. I'm saying no, because how great
- 2:24:12did West Virginia do last year? West Virginia The only thing
- 2:24:15good about that offense was that offensive line that.
- 2:24:18Offensive. Line OK, OK, well, that's fine.
- 2:24:20All I'm saying is it's not like we're bringing in Alabama's
- 2:24:24online coach. We're not bringing it.
- 2:24:26You know, I always, I always take it as a win.
- 2:24:29Anytime we can take anything from West Virginia, that's a win
- 2:24:31to me. I, I love that, but I don't know
- 2:24:35that. It's like, I don't know, I'm not
- 2:24:36swinging my nuts on it. I'm not going to the bar and,
- 2:24:39and being like, oh, we just signed Matt.
- 2:24:41More like nobody even knows who that guy is outside of that
- 2:24:44region. Like, I don't know, I, I, we'll
- 2:24:46see. We'll see what it is.
- 2:24:48You can find me at PK's. Hey, the only other guy would
- 2:24:53have taken over Matt Moore was Marcus Johnson.
- 2:24:55As as far as guys that are available and reasonable in
- 2:24:57terms of where we are as a program, right?
- 2:25:00I you talk about Alabama, we're we're not going to go and eat
- 2:25:03nuts off Alabama State. I just say you got to show
- 2:25:05something to me at this point. I I get that point.
- 2:25:07I'm saying of the guys that were going to be available, Matt
- 2:25:11Moore and Marcus Johnson were one A1B and we got.
- 2:25:13One A1. BI don't think our offensive
- 2:25:15line was that bad last year besides #70 Parker Clements, to
- 2:25:19be honest with you, I think if that right edge is is secure, I
- 2:25:23don't think it's that terrible. Look at the pass pro outside of
- 2:25:25Chaplain and Moore. Outside of Chaplain and Moore,
- 2:25:28yeah man, I know new. I mean, we'll see.
- 2:25:32We'll see how much of that's coaching, how much of that's
- 2:25:33athletes. I, I'm OK with the hire.
- 2:25:35I'm good with it. I'm pass Pro is a problem, man.
- 2:25:38I'm not right with such a fucking problem.
- 2:25:40Now if if we if we're just talking about can we run the
- 2:25:43football? We did an OK job running the
- 2:25:44football. Now Sheldon's going to bring up
- 2:25:46the point that yards before contact was still.
- 2:25:49Pretty bad. When you have basial toot and
- 2:25:55breaking a ton of fucking tackles that makes your
- 2:25:57offensive line look a whole lot better.
- 2:25:58And if he can break a tackle that gets him to the second
- 2:26:00level, he is deadly. I mean, we looked at, we saw a
- 2:26:07lot of his big runs. Once he got to the second level,
- 2:26:10once a linebacker had to try to hit him and he was bouncing on,
- 2:26:14he was gone. Yeah, they didn't want, they
- 2:26:18didn't want to fight with him. So like I said, if you get this
- 2:26:21offensive line to be a better, just better athletes and better
- 2:26:24coach, and then you turn around and you got guys, you know, not
- 2:26:28getting hit 4 yards, they're down the field and going there,
- 2:26:31that just changes the whole dynamic of the offense you get.
- 2:26:33To the second level without getting contacted first, you get
- 2:26:37a guy to the second level without getting contacted,
- 2:26:39versus you have to get contacted and then breaking it.
- 2:26:41That's when you're going to get into something.
- 2:26:43Well, here's the word as as much as you want to say West Virginia
- 2:26:48ran for more yards than we did last year.
- 2:26:50They gave up less sacks than we did last year.
- 2:26:53And if you look at the development between Colt
- 2:26:56Mckibbix, Zach Frazier, I am so fucking pissed.
- 2:27:00And 49ers did not take Zach Frazier last year in the fucking
- 2:27:03draft because that dude, you see him up at Pittsburgh as a
- 2:27:06rookie, he is fucking elite. He is an elite fucking center.
- 2:27:11He was under Matt Moore all four of his years at West Virginia.
- 2:27:14That's that's when. I started looking.
- 2:27:17He had what, 3 All Americans? Mckibbich was the second team
- 2:27:20All American. When you start seeing that many
- 2:27:22guys become good, it's like, no, not going to run.
- 2:27:28Oh, we can. We can knock Ron A.
- 2:27:29Little no, no, you're not going to run.
- 2:27:31Well, no, no, no. Somebody already buried Tally,
- 2:27:33buried Ron earlier. So.
- 2:27:36But when you're talking about a team.
- 2:27:38So now we're pissing on his grave a little bit.
- 2:27:40Sorry about that. We have to have our scabies.
- 2:27:43That's how we live, guys, and. It's how we live in society.
- 2:27:48Yeah, but. But either way, they ran for
- 2:27:51more yards. They gave up less sacks than us.
- 2:27:55As you start looking at that, it's like why did they do that?
- 2:27:59Because they did not. Go look at who they had.
- 2:28:02They did not have the running back to capabilities of Basil 2.
- 2:28:06They did not. Have.
- 2:28:08That's the. Scary part is he went for 1100
- 2:28:12with the low average offensive line blocking.
- 2:28:16And if you're in a year before, yeah.
- 2:28:19Did you look at the year before with CJ Johnson?
- 2:28:21Yeah, with CJ Donaldson the year before, yeah.
- 2:28:25CJ Donaldson was amazing, you know.
- 2:28:29Yeah, I tweeted. I was like, if you can get like
- 2:28:33create those holes, Terry and Stewart is 220 lbs, you get him
- 2:28:38running downhill. Second level brother.
- 2:28:41I don't know if any DBS going to be able to take him down.
- 2:28:44That's true, but but damn what he don't have and Brian pointed
- 2:28:47out when he went here he don't have turbo, no.
- 2:28:50He ain't got. It in there, but we got people
- 2:28:53for that. He doesn't have the last year
- 2:28:55that that Tooten had. Like Tooten could beat that guy,
- 2:28:58and then he could be, yeah. Basil was very special.
- 2:29:02Yeah, he is special and I'm so glad he got 1000.
- 2:29:06Yeah, so glad he got 1000 yards. Yeah, somebody.
- 2:29:09Yeah, somebody going to mess around and get him in the fifth
- 2:29:11round and be like, Oh my God, we didn't even know who this guy
- 2:29:13was. I hope it's Sean Payton.
- 2:29:15I'm man. Oh God, nevermind.
- 2:29:16We're not going. To get shit.
- 2:29:17Man, we're not going. We're not, we're not going.
- 2:29:19We're not going to Sean Payton. Fucking fucking Caleb Williams
- 2:29:22put a better number up than Bo next put Caleb Williams on
- 2:29:25Denver. Y'all be like 15 and one.
- 2:29:27I, I feel like we're always going to get good running backs.
- 2:29:29We're historically a good running back program.
- 2:29:31It's like, that's why I always feel like we should always have
- 2:29:33good DBS and that doesn't always work out, but we have great
- 2:29:38running backs out of Virginia Tech.
- 2:29:41You know I mean. It's not really surprising to me
- 2:29:43that that he was able to to come.
- 2:29:45He he's maybe since I don't know what's it maybe David Wilson.
- 2:29:49He's probably the best running back since.
- 2:29:51Then. Herbert.
- 2:29:52Herbert. Oh yeah.
- 2:29:52Lil Harbert. But he had to have Harvard,
- 2:29:54Khalil and. Between Khalil and Dave that it
- 2:29:56was only Kavion McMillan that went for 1000 plus.
- 2:29:59But yeah, the time you were there, Brian, Jeremy, Dan, that
- 2:30:06fucking 99 to like 2006 G or 2011.
- 2:30:13Jesus fucking Christ. What a we were RBU for that
- 2:30:16period of time. Yeah, we.
- 2:30:20Were RBU, we were fucking DBU. We were a lot of use during.
- 2:30:24That time period we were just. Fucking pumping it out.
- 2:30:27Yeah, it. Was.
- 2:30:29It was, it was so fucking good back.
- 2:30:31There and we didn't even get the full Brandon Orr experience.
- 2:30:34I mean, it could have been. It was one of those things where
- 2:30:38it was, it was cool to come to Virginia Tech because we were
- 2:30:40this hot new team that was just like, we had cool uniforms.
- 2:30:45We were, we were it then and then, you know, it was played.
- 2:30:50As a nasty brand of football, which was dead, the guys that
- 2:30:55weren't going to those flashy programs or that got overlooked
- 2:30:59by those flashy programs. I honestly, you, Corey Moores,
- 2:31:02I'm gonna go here and play four years and I'm gonna kick your
- 2:31:05ass every fucking year. I honestly think Corey Moore and
- 2:31:08the way he presented himself and did the, you know what, the
- 2:31:12Terror Dome, the entire fucking thing, I think that did so much
- 2:31:17for us as far as our environment, as far as our
- 2:31:20pride, as far as our culture. And I wouldn't say on the level
- 2:31:25of like what Mike Vick did, but I think that is a close second.
- 2:31:29Just his mentality, just his presentation.
- 2:31:33I think that did a lot for our brand.
- 2:31:37I think we're like, you know, Cornell Brown and take, you
- 2:31:39know, Dwight did before that even like the the way the brand
- 2:31:45got built on knocking the piss out of you just to knock the
- 2:31:51piss out of you. Yeah, yeah, Barry.
- 2:31:53Yeah. Guys who?
- 2:31:54Yeah, guys who lay the hammer, I think.
- 2:31:56But I think you got you got some young guys who?
- 2:31:58Who who see it that way? You know, the Caleb Wilson sees
- 2:32:01it that way. You know, he wants to hit you,
- 2:32:04you know, and the cute reticence, they want to hit you.
- 2:32:07You know, the Dante Lovitz are going to be physical.
- 2:32:09They're going to be nasty with you.
- 2:32:10So I think that I think that's coming back.
- 2:32:12I think that. Kid, we just brought in Isaiah
- 2:32:14Cash. That motherfucker hits dude.
- 2:32:16Yeah, so I guess, but. He's but I got to be honest with
- 2:32:19the guys. I've seen some of these social
- 2:32:20media pictures, Soft eyes, I don't know, soft eyes.
- 2:32:24He looks like he looks like he listens to a lot of Drake, a lot
- 2:32:27of Drake, a lot of Drake. You can tell this.
- 2:32:35Is that guy a lot of that's not a.
- 2:32:37Beast not like us. Not like us.
- 2:32:41Another guy used to lay the wood.
- 2:32:42Michael Strahan's a giant teddy bear, and he was a killer.
- 2:32:47But I'm thinking about like Virginia Tech identity too.
- 2:32:50You guys brought some great names.
- 2:32:51But like we need like a Sam Rogers back.
- 2:32:54Like someone like that, like a Sam Rogers, just chip on your
- 2:32:57shoulder. Always overlooked.
- 2:32:59I'm going to go out there and make a damn play type of kid
- 2:33:02like Sam Rogers was that for tech for a long time.
- 2:33:05And. Those kids make the difference
- 2:33:07in a ball game. Yeah, and we used to, we used to
- 2:33:10eat on those 2 1/2 three star kids and we used to develop them
- 2:33:14and turn them into monsters. That doesn't mean you always go
- 2:33:16to the NFL, but if Sam Rogers walks into Blacksburg, that man
- 2:33:20does not buy drinks. I can tell you that he is a
- 2:33:23legend where he's from. But but that's going to happen
- 2:33:26now because what we have to look back is where we are now as a
- 2:33:29society with the NCAA. It's not going to be Sam Rogers
- 2:33:33coming out as a walk on getting the scholar.
- 2:33:36Literally getting the Sam Rogers and Cody Grimm days are are.
- 2:33:40Behind us or they're over, but what's going to happen is APR
- 2:33:44and facial tuning days there. You go look.
- 2:33:46At throat after after the poor, they're not any good.
- 2:33:49They're not good players. Florida shitting on fucking APR.
- 2:33:53He comes up 16 1/2 fucking sacks this year.
- 2:33:56He was second in the nation. And if you look at his sack
- 2:33:59compared to the guy, BC he were more impressive, more impressive
- 2:34:03that game. He feasted on them.
- 2:34:06He didn't do shit to us. But if you start looking, that's
- 2:34:09what it's going to be. It's going to be names.
- 2:34:10And I'm looking at the portal like Rimac and Priester and
- 2:34:13Brown Murray. That's what it's going to be.
- 2:34:16Now, Maddie, that's what it's going to be guys.
- 2:34:19It's not going to be those two and three star guys.
- 2:34:21It's going to be the guy like Shrub Coble who went down to
- 2:34:25Clemson and he said he's not good enough to make it here.
- 2:34:28He's going to come up and play free safety and be the fucking
- 2:34:31dog and he's going to fucking intercept 6 passes.
- 2:34:34He's going to knock somebody out of a game.
- 2:34:36That's the new, that's the new what it is the Juco's two
- 2:34:39because what we said earlier and I can't remember who it was
- 2:34:42because I'm I'm a few drinks deep now.
- 2:34:45Yeah, we got. But who said like the the the
- 2:34:49kids? If you aren't an elite stuff
- 2:34:50coming out of high school now, what's your best bet?
- 2:34:53Go to JUCO for two. Years.
- 2:34:55JUCO. JUCO.
- 2:34:56For a couple years, get bigger, get stronger, and then go
- 2:34:59elsewhere. It is a changing landscape of
- 2:35:02college football and we see that as well with the College
- 2:35:05Football Playoff. And I know so many people had
- 2:35:08their fucking opinions about OSM.
- 2:35:11You shouldn't have been there and so and so shouldn't have
- 2:35:12been there. That's fucking.
- 2:35:15Great. Hey, hey, no.
- 2:35:17No, no, me and me and Josh, we agree on some things.
- 2:35:20We agreed that he agreed that they should be there.
- 2:35:23What he's trying to say is it they shouldn't be there because,
- 2:35:26well, this and that and the other.
- 2:35:28But we'll, we'll leave that as it is.
- 2:35:30I mean, at some point they're they're just going to get to the
- 2:35:32point where whoever's got the best rosters going to make the
- 2:35:34playoff. And fuck that shit, because if
- 2:35:37that's the case then we're basically in the playoffs this
- 2:35:39year. Like just being a good team
- 2:35:41doesn't earn you a right. You still got to go out there
- 2:35:43and win football, Win fucking games.
- 2:35:45Winning games matters. You've got to be punished and,
- 2:35:49you know, get given your props for the games you win and lose.
- 2:35:52Not just how good did you build your team.
- 2:35:54This isn't this isn't fucking Madden simulation.
- 2:35:57Like, you got to go out there and win the game.
- 2:35:59And I give you guys a scenario and it's OK if you roast me,
- 2:36:03I'll take it. I'll take it 100%.
- 2:36:07Is Virginia Tech's best route to the playoff to leave the ACC, go
- 2:36:12back to Group of Five and take the Boise State route.
- 2:36:15No. Or try to make it through the
- 2:36:18ACC. No, A coming through the ACC
- 2:36:21because what's going to happen is every year there's going to
- 2:36:23be this and this year was 4 Big 10 teams.
- 2:36:27Next year it's going to be 4 SEC teams, three Big 10 teams.
- 2:36:32ACC is probably going to get 2IN likely every year because I
- 2:36:38think the Big 12, because they had their biggest brands leave
- 2:36:42that foot fucks them, their biggest brands fucking left and
- 2:36:46right. Now with the ACC, if you can go
- 2:36:47in the ACC championship game at 10 or 11 wins, win or lose,
- 2:36:52you're in, you're in. You saw, by the way, SMU, if
- 2:36:57those motherfuckers just could catch a goddamn pass on the
- 2:37:00fucking 1 yard line, and I saw that play.
- 2:37:02Before I. Does that not change the game
- 2:37:06though, Chris? It.
- 2:37:07Does boy? Jenny through the day.
- 2:37:09That motherfucker bothers it like he's.
- 2:37:11Me. So let's talk about two things
- 2:37:12on this. If if we're talking about
- 2:37:13dropping down to to G5. So there's two things first.
- 2:37:18First is conference money. 1st I got a piece out.
- 2:37:21You got a piece out I. I love the germ.
- 2:37:24We love you, love you all. Love you.
- 2:37:25Brother, you didn't. Black out you.
- 2:37:29Didn't black out give this time? You did it, Jerem.
- 2:37:32He. He.
- 2:37:33He's on the board, he's on the ACC board, so he had to leave
- 2:37:35while we. That's right, that's right.
- 2:37:37So 2 two things. Despite how shit ACC money is,
- 2:37:41it's still better than any group of five money.
- 2:37:43Yeah, I'm right. This.
- 2:37:44Thing #2 is that we're not Boise State where we have to recruit
- 2:37:50and how we have to recruit. We're going to need money to do
- 2:37:54that, to be competitive. We're not in Boise where we can
- 2:37:58use a national recruiting market and pick up the cast offs from
- 2:38:02the power forward teams throughout the country.
- 2:38:04We don't. We don't have that luxury.
- 2:38:05We still got to recruit within our footprint and our footprint
- 2:38:08is fucking saturated. Yeah, but what doesn't have a
- 2:38:11lot to do with. I feel like our athletic
- 2:38:14director is not a good money raiser.
- 2:38:15I feel like he doesn't know how to put the screws to folks.
- 2:38:18I I don't feel like he, he's, he's really getting the money.
- 2:38:22I mean, what's our rich? I think he's a good accounting
- 2:38:24man. I don't know if that's he's a
- 2:38:25good well. Who's our Who's our richest
- 2:38:27alumni? I.
- 2:38:28Mean Robbins. And robotic.
- 2:38:30Kids guy. Maybe they own.
- 2:38:31The top they who Sangria has sold a company for $8.3 billion
- 2:38:36he's. Rich for sure, But does he care
- 2:38:38about football? That's what I'm saying.
- 2:38:40He was on the sideline Johnny. Get the pitch up some money.
- 2:38:43You know the hold. On I'm bad, don't educate me,
- 2:38:45that's OK, that's OK. I can be wrong do.
- 2:38:48You remember the guy on the sideline?
- 2:38:50There was a guy screaming at the opposing team player.
- 2:38:54Just think that I don't. Remember that?
- 2:38:55Yeah. So that's him.
- 2:38:56That was Mayhul. Mayhul's worth about $12
- 2:38:58billion. He's a little more.
- 2:39:00Mayhul carries very much cares very much about that, yeah.
- 2:39:04If I had $12 billion, Virginia Tech would have every.
- 2:39:08I mean he paid for the the the player lands.
- 2:39:11There. Yeah, they would have proton
- 2:39:14packs and lots of money. No, what I'm saying is if you
- 2:39:17have $12 million, like how much does he give it?
- 2:39:19It's OK to care and. Scrap, I mean, he paid for the
- 2:39:21players lounge. So I mean, yeah, he pay, he's
- 2:39:22he's paid a lot of money. He he's, he's put his money
- 2:39:26where his mouth is and he continues more often than more
- 2:39:30often than anybody else that I know.
- 2:39:31As far as deep pockets are concerned.
- 2:39:34You can, you can slander other billionaires out there that are
- 2:39:37in the Virginia Tech sphere, but Mayhul is not one of them.
- 2:39:40You cannot do. I'm not slandering any
- 2:39:42billionaire. I'm broke, OK?
- 2:39:44I'm a Ghostbuster, all right? It's a hard.
- 2:39:45Job Hey, no, I'm just, I'm just saying if we're, if we're
- 2:39:47talking about guys that aren't doing their part, Mayhul is not
- 2:39:50one of those guys. Well, no, I was talking about
- 2:39:52what Babcock not doing the spark is he selling how much money you
- 2:39:55should give. I was just talking about.
- 2:39:57The Oh yeah, I I definitely think wit is not a not as much
- 2:40:01of A people person as you would maybe want on this, but he is a
- 2:40:04finance guy so but. But but our two money.
- 2:40:07I think, I think he stretches money better than we we we could
- 2:40:10otherwise have, but I don't know if he's as good at bringing the
- 2:40:13money in. For sure.
- 2:40:14But if I'm account, if I'm an accounting guy, let's say I'm
- 2:40:16not a sales guy, I'm an accounting guy, our two money
- 2:40:20sports are in the hole. So if I'm accounting, no they're
- 2:40:22not not the black. They're not.
- 2:40:25So what's he doing? So first of all, no, no sport is
- 2:40:29in the hole. The one thing Virginia Tech has
- 2:40:31over anybody is we are pretty much any money that comes in can
- 2:40:36be used. Well, look at Nebraska, go look
- 2:40:39at Alabama, go look, they are they are in debt.
- 2:40:42They are in debt. We are not in debt.
- 2:40:44That is the. One thing again, sorry, let me
- 2:40:47clarify before you. Make your point.
- 2:40:49I'm not talking about money debt.
- 2:40:51I'm talking about our team suck. So men's basketball.
- 2:40:54So we our football team is 500. Our men's basketball program
- 2:40:57sucks. Those are the two money sports.
- 2:41:00If they don't do well, less money comes in.
- 2:41:03So I'm not talking about. No, it doesn't.
- 2:41:05That's the thing. Because the TV revenue is what
- 2:41:08it is. We're getting $63 million
- 2:41:09regardless. It doesn't matter.
- 2:41:11What does matter? One factor of the money So TV.
- 2:41:16That's the biggest factor of the money.
- 2:41:18The the sales inside the stuff is like 8% now.
- 2:41:21It's not what it was 30 years ago.
- 2:41:23What about used to be? Literally if you couldn't sell
- 2:41:25out your stadium 30 years ago, right?
- 2:41:27If you couldn't sell out your your basketball, you were
- 2:41:30fucked. It ain't that way no more.
- 2:41:32There are teams out here who cannot.
- 2:41:34UVA is the perfect fucking example.
- 2:41:37They can't put 50% of their fucking people in the stands.
- 2:41:41They get the exact same amount of money as we do from the.
- 2:41:44ACC Can I tell you something funny?
- 2:41:47UVA gets more in donations than we do, and yet we still outpace
- 2:41:50them in. Total.
- 2:41:51In total revenue and we also outpace them in wins on the
- 2:41:54football field. But so the the problem that we
- 2:41:57have is that so looking at NILI think the problem that people
- 2:42:01will have with wit and NIL right now is that they're looking at
- 2:42:05this gutted basketball NIL situation and how how that was
- 2:42:09handled. And then looking at a six and
- 2:42:12six football team and saying, what do we get for that
- 2:42:15investment? And now we've got two teams that
- 2:42:18are mid right. So that that's what they're
- 2:42:19saying, is that we ended up allocating more money to
- 2:42:23football, we hamstrung our basketball team and we don't
- 2:42:27have anything else to show for it.
- 2:42:29But that's what, so that's what I'm trying to get to I guess.
- 2:42:32And maybe you can educate me. I can be completely wrong about
- 2:42:35this, but having been in sales, being in business and just kind
- 2:42:39of understanding how the world works, typically you look for an
- 2:42:42ROI. So if I'm giving you a certain
- 2:42:45amount of money, I'm expecting a certain product in return.
- 2:42:49If that product is not being returned based on the money that
- 2:42:53I'm spending, then that money shortens over time because the
- 2:42:56product is not there. So that's, I guess that's what
- 2:43:00I'm coming to when it comes to, it's not just the TV deal, it's
- 2:43:04the NIO donors, it's the donors to the program.
- 2:43:07It's saying, hey, well, we gave, we gave you guys 500,000 last
- 2:43:11year and we got 500 as a record. Maybe I'm maybe we'll do 275
- 2:43:17this year. Yeah.
- 2:43:19And if you're talking long term, yeah, you're going to see
- 2:43:21potential declines if you're if something doesn't change,
- 2:43:26whether it's win loss record, whether it's staff changes that
- 2:43:30change the trajectory of how you feel about this program long
- 2:43:35term. So it's.
- 2:43:36Still speculative. Right.
- 2:43:36It's still speculative. We're still, we're still
- 2:43:38speculating. We had this return this year,
- 2:43:41We're speculating some additional return in the next
- 2:43:43two to three years, right. So you still have to base it on
- 2:43:46that kind of that kind. Of place, that should be our
- 2:43:49overall Like if I'm with Babcock, that's my overall
- 2:43:52message to everyone. If you come to Virginia Tech,
- 2:43:55you're going to get a return on your investment as a kid, as a
- 2:43:58player. If you donate to the program,
- 2:44:00you're going to get a return on investment as a as a donor or as
- 2:44:03an alumni. If you do ATV advertising deal,
- 2:44:06whatever it might be. ROI should be our biggest goal
- 2:44:09overall, and that's for kids and players and everybody.
- 2:44:13If you donate your body to Virginia Tech, if you put it on
- 2:44:16the line every day, you're going to get a return on investment.
- 2:44:19If you donate your money as a local business, you're Scheeler
- 2:44:22Motomile, you're going to get your return on investment
- 2:44:25because we're going to have a culture that expects winning.
- 2:44:30And it's not just we're going to get our TV deal and our revenue
- 2:44:33deal and hopefully we'll get some nil and we'll transfer you
- 2:44:36off to another school. I think ROI should be our new
- 2:44:39slogan. So.
- 2:44:41I'm, I'm not going to ask this and I'm not, I'm not trying to
- 2:44:43like call you up on. On this, Chris was about to say
- 2:44:46something. Because because I think, because
- 2:44:49I think you, you expected a better ROI on your on your
- 2:44:52investment this year, except for the goddamn quarterback got
- 2:44:56hurt. Your ROI on your investment on
- 2:44:59your football team is better if your quarterback doesn't get
- 2:45:01hurt, if your own line doesn't, if your quarterback doesn't get
- 2:45:04hurt, you win more games. We're sitting here already.
- 2:45:08We're sitting here thinking where we played last weekend
- 2:45:11because we would have an opportunity to do that.
- 2:45:13We're only looking at the ROI because OK, we invested this
- 2:45:16much in these because you because you had to pay guys and
- 2:45:19you came back in 66 and it's like it was a down year on this
- 2:45:22rate of return. They gave guys, gave guys money,
- 2:45:27they paid guys more money to come back, Price said on y'all's
- 2:45:31show. I had those guys come in and say
- 2:45:34are you going to be a different player?
- 2:45:37Some of them did, a lot of them didn't.
- 2:45:42Some guys ticked up, some guys didn't, and the major guys that
- 2:45:47you had to have tick up was the reason why you're ready to
- 2:45:50return is down. If Kyron's healthy, your ROI is
- 2:45:53better, right? Absolutely, if the.
- 2:45:55If the offensive line, if the offensive line is is better
- 2:45:58prepared and we get better, better coaching offensive line,
- 2:46:01your ROI is better. You got less drops, your ROI is
- 2:46:05better, right? You get better tackling.
- 2:46:07You get better tackling in the secondary.
- 2:46:09Your ROI is better. It is a long.
- 2:46:12Let's get. It's like you can't.
- 2:46:14It's going. To be look at it, because if you
- 2:46:16look at it Maddie, for example, LSU this year, man, LSU budget
- 2:46:22is about 3 times what Virginia Techs is.
- 2:46:25Absolutely. They won 8 fucking games.
- 2:46:27You tell me their donors don't want to fucking like Brian Kelly
- 2:46:30on fire. You don't think backward.
- 2:46:33You don't think backward of Billy tied, tied, of going
- 2:46:36across the swamp and with them Gators and dropping off that ex.
- 2:46:38Billy they pick on 75 them some of the.
- 2:46:41Fuckers in the Middle East. Oklahoma.
- 2:46:43Oklahoma is a good example too. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:46:45Same thing. So you.
- 2:46:46Look at it. It's going to be this waves.
- 2:46:48And it's like, well, how do we figure this out?
- 2:46:50Go, Brian. Well, I was just going to say.
- 2:46:53So there's, there's two things #1 the house settlement thing is
- 2:46:57going to take care of at least the first, the first wave of
- 2:47:02this NIL situation once, once you start getting things
- 2:47:07publicly available, that's going to be a big, big change to the
- 2:47:11framework of how NIL is handled #2 I'm not trying to get
- 2:47:16personal. Do you subscribe on like
- 2:47:19Triumph? Do you have a Triumph
- 2:47:20subscription? Do you do anything with that?
- 2:47:23Yeah, for sure. Absolutely.
- 2:47:24OK, OK. So, so, so you know, like there,
- 2:47:26there are intrinsic benefits to supporting NIL outside of wins
- 2:47:33and losses, right? So, OK, so we're talking about
- 2:47:36two different levels here. So there is still incentive for
- 2:47:39you to make that investment even if the wins and losses aren't
- 2:47:43quite there, because you get a more personal experience with
- 2:47:46the team that you care about, right?
- 2:47:48Yeah, no, it helped me with my bachelor party like I talked.
- 2:47:50About earlier, so, so that's what I'm saying.
- 2:47:51So, so there are things like that, that I think Triumph is
- 2:47:54doing well that that they're they are providing value outside
- 2:47:58of necessarily the product on the field.
- 2:48:00And as NIL matures, I think we're going to see Virginia Tech
- 2:48:05being a lot better position long term from an NIL perspective.
- 2:48:09Now whether that leads to wins and losses, I'm not sure, but I
- 2:48:12think it's going to help that ROI that you're talking about.
- 2:48:15Yeah, and I just, I just want everybody who comes to the
- 2:48:18place, whether you're a player, a donor, a fan, whatever, you're
- 2:48:22getting more than you put in. And maybe that's a lot to ask.
- 2:48:25And but I think having a high expectation is good because if
- 2:48:29you fall short, it's fine, but it's better than just being
- 2:48:31complacent. Yeah.
- 2:48:33I don't. I don't think we're being
- 2:48:34complacent at all. I really don't.
- 2:48:36I I don't no one's happy with six and six, whether in Merriman
- 2:48:40or on this podcast, in anywhere in between.
- 2:48:43Nobody, nobody said, but I don't think, I don't think they're
- 2:48:45being complacent. I think, I think they're, I
- 2:48:47think they're moving forward. What they had to do this year in
- 2:48:51the portal, I think they definitely needed to do.
- 2:48:54And I, I think, you know, I think, you know, we're going to
- 2:48:57get, we're going to get those kids.
- 2:49:00We, we're just going to get some more kids, man, that want to
- 2:49:02come here and, and like you say, play with that chip on their
- 2:49:05shoulder. Hey, I've been overlooked, You
- 2:49:07know, you know, you, you got to look like a lot of those 24
- 2:49:11kids, 23 and 24 kids and 25 kids.
- 2:49:13They don't know nothing about losing.
- 2:49:16They don't, they don't understand losing.
- 2:49:18A lot of them, a lot of them have won, been played in state
- 2:49:22championship, played in long time football games.
- 2:49:24And I always go back to the point, man, they built this
- 2:49:27thing from the ground up. This there was nothing here to
- 2:49:30build on yeah, what I think they had like 20 running backs on
- 2:49:34this on this roster and like 20 I.
- 2:49:38Think it was only 14. I think it was only 14. 14,
- 2:49:40yeah. Way too fucking many.
- 2:49:43Yeah, way too many, you know, I mean, I remember watching, you
- 2:49:46know, looking like, who is this Brumster kid?
- 2:49:48I don't even what what is? I mean, they didn't have a lot.
- 2:49:51So I know, hey, this is Virginia Tech and the uniforms and
- 2:49:55saying, man, they didn't have a lot to build on.
- 2:49:57So yeah, with this year disappointing absolutely.
- 2:50:00But I just think, and I, and I told, I told, I told Dan this,
- 2:50:06yeah, we're disappointed with 24, but I think we're going to
- 2:50:07be even better in 25. And I'm, I'm just really all in
- 2:50:11on that. I think we're going to be so
- 2:50:12much better in 25 and, and, and and that'll, and that'll,
- 2:50:16that'll be like in 26. We'll be I just think this 25
- 2:50:19class is 26 class and the better coaching in some different areas
- 2:50:23is going to help us out a lot. Well, the whole thing is you've
- 2:50:26got to constantly improve and the whole thing and, and, and if
- 2:50:30you look at the retrospective of the history of Virginia Tech is
- 2:50:32everybody always talks about, well, Frank, Frank, Frank.
- 2:50:37If you look at, and I know this is 32 years ago, which it
- 2:50:41doesn't feel that way to me because I'm going to be 42 next
- 2:50:45year, 42 next year, but 92 was the biggest year and people
- 2:50:51always look what happened in 92. Frank made some big ass changes
- 2:50:55to the in the one thing and we go through and then that staff
- 2:51:00stayed together a while and then early 2000 some big changes
- 2:51:03happened and that staff stayed together a while and then
- 2:51:07basically 2012 happened and and, but by that time Frank was in
- 2:51:11his 60s, so. Yeah, and he was a legend by
- 2:51:13then. He.
- 2:51:14Was a legend he'd take. He'd won ACC, he'd won the Big
- 2:51:17East, he'd beat Miami Multiply, he'd beat Texas, he'd beat
- 2:51:19Alabama. He went to the national
- 2:51:21championship game. So you have to change and again,
- 2:51:25I go back to what we talked about damn near three hours ago
- 2:51:28because we almost three hours. Everybody looking at the left
- 2:51:31corner, Brett Pry came in and he said he gave it three years,
- 2:51:36which is legitimate what you should give a staff.
- 2:51:38And he said it's not good enough.
- 2:51:41I'm going to let this guy go, this guy go and this guy go
- 2:51:45because it's not good enough. What happened in 2020 and I know
- 2:51:50your son Chris was being recruited at that time is we we
- 2:51:54did not have a good season. Maddie, you're watching games,
- 2:51:56you saw 2019. Nothing changed, right?
- 2:51:59We were sitting here. It's like this isn't good
- 2:52:01enough. Nothing fucking changed.
- 2:52:03And I don't know what would have happened if some changed.
- 2:52:06I don't, I really do not know what would have happened years
- 2:52:11ago. Bridges got burned.
- 2:52:12Yep, Jim's right. Bridges did get burned.
- 2:52:15We don't know. But somehow that team went six
- 2:52:17and six in 2021. Somehow, somehow that team went
- 2:52:246:00 and 6:00. But when you don't choose to
- 2:52:27make changes in anything because you talk about ROI, man, and
- 2:52:31that's right, you've got how do you do all right?
- 2:52:33How do you get better? You've got to make changes
- 2:52:35because if you ain't hitting the expectations, you better start
- 2:52:38fucking letting people go. You better start doing things
- 2:52:40different. You better start firing people,
- 2:52:42you better start adjusting. And that's what happened this
- 2:52:45year, because the expectation this year was I was stupid.
- 2:52:50Maybe I said eleven wins, y'all. But Chris, how close were we to
- 2:52:54eleven wins? Y'all watch how close?
- 2:52:57Oh, everybody says, Chris, you're a moron.
- 2:53:00You said eleven wins. And I say, y'all, look at the
- 2:53:02fucking scores. Yep, we were.
- 2:53:05We weren't. Far from it.
- 2:53:06It ain't like we were sitting down here getting our asses
- 2:53:08thrashed. Now we wouldn't get, we wouldn't
- 2:53:10no, we would get, we were, we were, we were pissed because of
- 2:53:13like, oh, we make a play here, we make a play there.
- 2:53:15We win this game. We win this game.
- 2:53:17Hey, we get a flag here. We get, I'm just being honest
- 2:53:19with you. There were games that yeah, we,
- 2:53:21we, we just should have won. You're somehow closer to 11 than
- 2:53:25you are to four, despite. Absolutely 6.
- 2:53:27Games and it looks like maybe this sounds silly, but it's like
- 2:53:32we lost half of our games. We.
- 2:53:35Lost. That's them.
- 2:53:36Yeah, we. Lost half our games, yeah.
- 2:53:38We didn't get beat half our games.
- 2:53:40Yeah, we we lost half our games. Yeah, we just, we, we, no, we,
- 2:53:43we did get beat by Clemson. But yeah, you're right, they
- 2:53:45did. That's only, Yeah, a whole lot
- 2:53:47more talent. But but but but but.
- 2:53:50You can't you can't give up talent and also get out coached
- 2:53:53in a game and. That that's what happened in
- 2:53:55Clemson. I mean, just being honest, you
- 2:53:56got out coached. While.
- 2:53:57Giving up talent. That's a That's a hard thing.
- 2:54:01It's. Hard enough to overcome.
- 2:54:02Talent to run the ball four times.
- 2:54:04When you aren't. Getting out that that, that,
- 2:54:07that was the only, that was the only game this year that the
- 2:54:10Clemson game was the only game that made me think it was 2023.
- 2:54:14Every other game I thought we were a better football team than
- 2:54:1523 team. Yeah, we should.
- 2:54:18I love that. Chris Yeah, anything anybody
- 2:54:20want out because as we we go on three hours here, I'm about to
- 2:54:25wrap this up because this is the state of the program and where
- 2:54:28we are right now is believe it or not, I think from where we
- 2:54:32were a year ago, we thought we were going to do big things this
- 2:54:36year. We didn't it sucked.
- 2:54:39We didn't we're going to do big things this year.
- 2:54:42But we start looking back and where we were at 2020 and 2021
- 2:54:46and 22 that long ago in every, and I just keep saying this
- 2:54:53every game this year, every game we were in it.
- 2:54:57There was no game that Brian, Curtis, Maddie, Chris, you were
- 2:55:01there for all of them. So we can't say you couldn't
- 2:55:03leave, because if you left, you'd be in trouble with.
- 2:55:06Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just, I didn't try to do that.
- 2:55:09And there were no game this year.
- 2:55:11We turned off that, said we. First half of Andy was the only
- 2:55:15time we were ever out of it. First half of Andy was the only
- 2:55:18time we were out. But what happened?
- 2:55:20If you watch the second, I know goddamn lead.
- 2:55:23Yeah, we first half of Andy was the only time we looked lost all
- 2:55:26season. We looked lost.
- 2:55:28We got it back though. There were there were 12 games
- 2:55:31this year. And it wasn't like. 2022 where
- 2:55:34there was a couple games in 20/22 it was just like I'm going
- 2:55:392023. This team is not even
- 2:55:41competitive. We never. 2023 Louisville, 2023
- 2:55:45Louisville, every single one of us turn that fucking game off
- 2:55:50because they fucking beat the shit out of us.
- 2:55:53Yeah, I ain't looking at this no more.
- 2:55:55I'll catch the highlights so I can do some notes and talk about
- 2:55:58it on. Tuesday night.
- 2:55:59That's true. I ain't watching this no more.
- 2:56:01Because I'm going to watch this double time.
- 2:56:03That's the only. Way you're watching it.
- 2:56:04Fucking game. Double time, no commercials.
- 2:56:07That's the only. One every game we could have
- 2:56:08won. The question is, with what Brent
- 2:56:11Pride did, do we take the step in a year from tonight, a year
- 2:56:16from the night? Is it different or is it y'all
- 2:56:21you got to go? But anyways, I'm going to wrap
- 2:56:24up this episode of the Boundary Corner podcast brought to you by

- 2:56:58balls to step up and say this is who I am.
- 2:57:02This is the opinion I have that's respected.
- 2:57:05So appreciate you. Joining me, man.
- 2:57:07It's. It's OK to be wrong.
- 2:57:08It's OK. To be it's OK to say, hey, I got

- 2:57:15Put it out on the table. We'll we'll talk about it.
