- 0:01Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Well, here at one like a blex Media.
- 0:07Speaker 1: A major win tonight for the Republicans and the fight
- 0:11Speaker 1: for affordability. Did you see it? Did you see that?
- 0:17Speaker 1: A housing bill? A housing bill was passed pretty much
- 0:24Speaker 1: majority in the Senate tonight in an eighty five to
- 0:30Speaker 1: five vote. According to NBC News, senators voted tonight to
- 0:38Speaker 1: pass what they're calling the twenty first Century Road to
- 0:43Speaker 1: Housing Act, which, as they call it, NBC News calls
- 0:47Speaker 1: it would be a desperately needed win for Republicans. It
- 0:52Speaker 1: would basically say housing affordability will help low lower costs.
- 1:01Speaker 1: And you know sometimes Wall Street firms buy these houses
- 1:08Speaker 1: to flip them for more. And now this bill is
- 1:12Speaker 1: going to prevent Wall Street investors from further buying up
- 1:17Speaker 1: houses and limit them and make housing more accessible. I
- 1:29Speaker 1: talked about this, remember when I'm Donnie and Trump were
- 1:33Speaker 1: all about talking about affordability and Trump wanted a champion affordability. Mum,
- 1:38Speaker 1: Donnie wanted a champion affordability. What about accessibility, both financial
- 1:43Speaker 1: accessibility and physical accessibility. Well, maybe this is a step
- 1:48Speaker 1: toward not only affordability, but accessibility. I can tell you
- 1:52Speaker 1: from firsthand, trying to get an apartment in New York
- 1:57Speaker 1: through the lottery. They still were gonna charge me twelve
- 2:02Speaker 1: hundred dollars a month. They were that's not affordable for
- 2:08Speaker 1: the disabled community, even if you're working.
- 2:13Speaker 2: That's not.
- 2:15Speaker 3: So.
- 2:16Speaker 1: While twelve hundred maybe good to the average person, to
- 2:19Speaker 1: disabled community, I still think that's a little high.
- 2:21Speaker 2: That's too high.
- 2:24Speaker 1: So maybe a.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Bill like this.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Can not only put an exclamation point on the promise
- 2:32Speaker 1: from both parties, this is a bipartis an effort right
- 2:34Speaker 1: here to make life more affordable. To make the cost
- 2:39Speaker 1: of living affordable in places like New York City could
- 2:51Speaker 1: be a major boon for Americans as we continue to
- 2:59Speaker 1: ramp up for America to fifty. This would help make
- 3:05Speaker 1: us feel like we are achieving the American dream. Those
- 3:08Speaker 1: with disabilities, those who are on low income, those who
- 3:11Speaker 1: are struggling new break out of home and try and
- 3:16Speaker 1: get their own place. Maybe this bill to make housing
- 3:23Speaker 1: more affordable will help us feel like the American dream
- 3:28Speaker 1: is attainable. What is the American dream? It's to be independent.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It's to be able to provide for yourself and when
- 3:35Speaker 1: you have rent, that is as who was it as
- 3:46Speaker 1: Jimmy McMillan once said, rent is too damn high. Well,
- 3:52Speaker 1: this bill could very much be the catalyst for lowering it,
- 3:58Speaker 1: lowering it, lowering the bill, you know, lowering bills. The
- 4:04Speaker 1: legislation would approve a series of finding or of funding
- 4:08Speaker 1: and grow grand programs for constructing new homes, slash red tape,
- 4:13Speaker 1: empower local governments like New York City's government to expedite
- 4:17Speaker 1: reviews to Bill Moore Housing, and a key section titled
- 4:21Speaker 1: Homes Are for People, Not Corporations, would restrict any large
- 4:25Speaker 1: institutional investor from buying single family homes.
- 4:29Speaker 3: I do believe this has.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Mum Donnie in it and his footprint handprints in it,
- 4:38Speaker 1: because that was something he was championing on the campaign
- 4:42Speaker 1: trail here. So is it possible all those secret meetings
- 4:45Speaker 1: between Mum Donnie and Trump and the very visible one
- 4:51Speaker 1: after Mum Donnie got elected led to something like this.
- 5:00Speaker 1: The final package came together after the Senate. This is
- 5:02Speaker 1: according to NBC News, agreed to add a series of
- 5:04Speaker 1: person visions sought by the House, while dropping a provision
- 5:07Speaker 1: the House objected to which would have required large investors
- 5:14Speaker 1: that construct her own at least three hundred and fifty
- 5:16Speaker 1: single family homes to sell them after seven years that
- 5:21Speaker 1: the NBC News is talking about a bill about to
- 5:23Speaker 1: be passed by the Republican and signed by Trump. There's
- 5:26Speaker 1: something in the bill for just about everyone to like.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Put that on a T shirt because when do we
- 5:33Speaker 1: ever hear that line? There's something in the bill for
- 5:36Speaker 1: just about everyone to like. NBC's news reporter Sahil Kapor
- 5:43Speaker 1: is reporting on this. I love that line, because when
- 5:46Speaker 1: did we ever hear that about a bill when Washington, DC?
- 5:51Speaker 1: You never hear everyone every American is gonna like a bill.
- 5:56Speaker 1: You never hear that line. So well, this is promising,
- 6:04Speaker 1: This is promising that this could be an affordability win
- 6:08Speaker 1: and an excess a financial accessibility win, maybe even physical accessibility.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Win, and it would be a win for Trump.
- 6:30Speaker 1: But that's not why I care about it. I care
- 6:33Speaker 1: about it because it shows DC might actually be doing
- 6:36Speaker 1: something for the American people. When do we hear that
- 6:43Speaker 1: We went to d C a year and a half,
- 6:45Speaker 1: a year and a few months ago to help to
- 6:48Speaker 1: show them they need to do something for the American
- 6:50Speaker 1: people who have digestive diseases. It's all about I don't
- 6:58Speaker 1: even want to use the word lobby because I hate
- 6:59Speaker 1: the word. It's all about advocacy. It's all about advocating
- 7:03Speaker 1: for something like this, and it looks like the advocacy
- 7:06Speaker 1: has paid off for in the name of affordability. And
- 7:20Speaker 1: it could be a breather from what's happening in Iran
- 7:23Speaker 1: for just a moment, for just a moment, something everyone
- 7:27Speaker 1: could like is a win for affordability.
- 7:37Speaker 2: And uh, I think that's huge.
- 7:57Speaker 1: And apparently Trump's not hands on with the bill because
- 8:00Speaker 1: he's been focused on the Iran deal and getting a
- 8:02Speaker 1: deal done. Of course, the Switzerland meetings are going on,
- 8:06Speaker 1: and JD Van's out there. By the way, I'm gonna
- 8:11Speaker 1: say this right now, I still choose Marco Rubio over
- 8:15Speaker 1: JD in the presidential primary and in the presidential race
- 8:21Speaker 1: against most likely Gavin Newsom. And I'm gonna play you
- 8:25Speaker 1: tomorrow what Marco Rubio said, because I've been on the
- 8:28Speaker 1: next tear. We've all been on the next tear. But
- 8:30Speaker 1: it's time to get serious. We are about to sell
- 8:33Speaker 1: about America now. The celebrations are gonna keep going for
- 8:37Speaker 1: the Knicks, but the bigger celebration is gonna be happening
- 8:40Speaker 1: for the nation. In less than two weeks. We're about
- 8:44Speaker 1: to turn two hundred and fifty, and you gotta hear
- 8:46Speaker 1: what Marco Rubio said about the two hundred fifty year
- 8:50Speaker 1: of America as report on Mike by Mike Gallagher. I'll
- 8:55Speaker 1: share that tomorrow. But this is a win. This is
- 8:59Speaker 1: a win for achieving the American dream that our founding
- 9:02Speaker 1: fathers set out to give us two hundred and fifty
- 9:05Speaker 1: years ago. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Know
- 9:08Speaker 1: what happiness is affording a house, of making apartments affordable,
- 9:14Speaker 1: making it accessible, financially accessible, financial freedom. That to me
- 9:24Speaker 1: is what the American dream is. Freedom. Quite often I
- 9:32Speaker 1: find that in the disabled community, if you're on services,
- 9:35Speaker 1: you cannot make over a certain amount of money. That
- 9:38Speaker 1: is not the American dream. So maybe that could be
- 9:41Speaker 1: a next step. Hey, stop limiting how much disabled viewers
- 9:45Speaker 1: can make if they're on benefits. Just allow them to
- 9:49Speaker 1: work and achieve the and receive the benefits they need
- 9:53Speaker 1: to maintain independence and to be adapting and always adapting
- 9:56Speaker 1: and smashing stigmas. This moment right here, you may not
- 10:07Speaker 1: hear about it a lot, but this moment right here
- 10:10Speaker 1: with the Senate passing on the way to the House
- 10:12Speaker 1: and on the way to Trump's desk, is a major
- 10:15Speaker 1: win for both parties. It'll have the Republican win because
- 10:20Speaker 1: they are in the party in control right now, so
- 10:24Speaker 1: they'll look like they have a grasp on affordability. But
- 10:27Speaker 1: it'll also be a win for Democrats because we know, mom,
- 10:30Speaker 1: Donnie's been in Trump's a year about something like this.
- 10:33Speaker 1: He wants to build more housing in the city. And
- 10:40Speaker 1: I do agree with the idea that corporate America should
- 10:43Speaker 1: stay out of our housing system, stop buying up and
- 10:48Speaker 1: pricing out average everyday Americans. That's not the American dream,
- 10:55Speaker 1: That's not what the founding father said out for us
- 10:58Speaker 1: two hundred and fifty years ago. But you're gonna hear
- 11:03Speaker 1: tonight about more in the Geneva, the Geneva, the Switzerland conversations,
- 11:09Speaker 1: and you'll hear more about you know, whether Vance is
- 11:14Speaker 1: the guy or Marco Rubio's the guy. But underneath it
- 11:18Speaker 1: all this shows Washington is still working with us and
- 11:23Speaker 1: for us through the chaos. And I don't often say that,
- 11:27Speaker 1: but they are working for us in the chaos, through
- 11:31Speaker 1: the chaos, and it's encouraging, and it'll be encouraging once
- 11:44Speaker 1: it's signed by the House and then signed by prew
- 11:47Speaker 1: by the House and signed by the President, because then
- 11:57Speaker 1: that moniker of affordability could open up the doors.
- 12:06Speaker 3: For actual families.
- 12:10Speaker 1: To live freer and not be so stressed out about
- 12:17Speaker 1: everything going on about not being able to afford, about
- 12:20Speaker 1: having to work multiple jobs just to get by. Do
- 12:25Speaker 1: you think the founding father started this country so hard
- 12:28Speaker 1: and we're working everyday Americans have to work multiple jobs
- 12:32Speaker 1: to get by. No, that wasn't the pursuit of happiness
- 12:37Speaker 1: they were thinking of. But this moment of bipartisanship and
- 12:45Speaker 1: of debate. I've always said, this debate is what made
- 12:48Speaker 1: this country happen, and it made amendments happen. It made
- 12:52Speaker 1: this country break free from Britain.
- 12:57Speaker 3: For once.
- 12:57Speaker 1: We're breaking free of gridlock right now and approving something
- 13:02Speaker 1: and voting on something that is a big yess for
- 13:08Speaker 1: Americans looking to achieve an American a dream of independence.
- 13:13Speaker 1: And that's my message tonight on one leg a Ballex
- 13:16Speaker 1: Media on June twenty second, twenty twenty six, just a
- 13:20Speaker 1: couple of weeks away from year two fifty and Washington
- 13:26Speaker 1: voted on a bill, as Sahilicaport writes, that has something
- 13:34Speaker 1: in it for just about everyone to like, and how
- 13:38Speaker 1: can you not like that
