- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everybody.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode from Long
- 0:14Speaker 2: Story Short the podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy and this
- 0:18Speaker 2: week's movie is a Winter Getaway, which is movie number
- 0:21Speaker 2: four out of five from the New Year New movies
- 0:25Speaker 2: should be called Winterfest Series on the Hallmark Channel in January.
- 0:29Speaker 2: And if you're new here, Wendy and I like to
- 0:33Speaker 2: review these movies. I am a long time Hallmark fan.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Wendy is a brand new Hallmark baby. Watched her first
- 0:41Speaker 2: Hallmark movie way back in October of twenty twenty.
- 0:46Speaker 3: So I'm off the rails, dude, I'm off the rails now.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I have added Hallmark Mystery Movies or whatever it's called,
- 0:55Speaker 3: to my cable lineup. I am recording movies that I
- 0:58Speaker 3: don't have to watch for the pot My husband will
- 1:01Speaker 3: come downstairs and he's like, what are you watching? And
- 1:03Speaker 3: then he'll roll his eyes because it's a Hallmark movie.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I don't know what's happening.
- 1:08Speaker 2: We have breaking news right now in the Hallmark movie world,
- 1:12Speaker 2: and that is that. As you were talking, I opened
- 1:14Speaker 2: my Hallmark Checklist app, which is great if you want
- 1:18Speaker 2: to keep track of the new movies as well as
- 1:20Speaker 2: when old movies are airing, and as it opened, it
- 1:23Speaker 2: asks me if I wanted to add the Love Ever
- 1:27Speaker 2: After lineup to my calendar. That was not available yesterday.
- 1:30Speaker 2: It is available today, which is Monday, January twenty first,
- 1:35Speaker 2: as we are recording that. So if you want to
- 1:37Speaker 2: keep track of the new movies, I would recommend that app.
- 1:40Speaker 2: And the Love Ever After series is live in the app.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Exciting. I have the app too.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, she is off the rail. Okay, a
- 1:55Speaker 3: winters get away? Would you like me to recap it
- 1:57Speaker 3: for the fine folks at home?
- 1:59Speaker 1: I would Okay.
- 2:01Speaker 3: When an average guy is gifted a luxury trip, he
- 2:05Speaker 3: is mistaken as a millionaire, but then sparks fly with
- 2:08Speaker 3: the lovely concierge. Will she feel the same way about
- 2:11Speaker 3: him when she learns the truth.
- 2:14Speaker 2: News and notes about a winter getaway?
- 2:18Speaker 1: I didn't find Minnie. Do you have some? I have
- 2:21Speaker 1: a couple.
- 2:21Speaker 2: So we like to talk about where these were filmed.
- 2:23Speaker 2: This was filmed in several locations in Canada, but largely
- 2:26Speaker 2: in bamf which is in the Canadian Rockies. And I
- 2:30Speaker 2: know you're gonna have something to say about that.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Well, I was supposed to go on a sister trip
- 2:34Speaker 3: with my sister to Bamf last summer. Obviously we didn't
- 2:40Speaker 3: go because of COVID. So watching this movie just made
- 2:46Speaker 3: my heart sad because I am dying to go there.
- 2:50Speaker 2: My husband has been there, loved there. So yeah, this
- 2:55Speaker 2: just made me dream of traveling again. And as soon
- 2:57Speaker 2: as they announced where they were going, I did think
- 3:00Speaker 2: of you.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I know.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Nazneine Contractor, who is the lead actress in the movie,
- 3:07Speaker 2: commented on Twitter that in the scene where they are
- 3:11Speaker 2: filming the outdoor lunch, she said it was so cold
- 3:14Speaker 2: that the grapefruit juice and her wineglass kept freezing.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Oh no way, Oh my gosh. I did not envy
- 3:20Speaker 3: them sitting out there in the freezing Yeah. They did
- 3:24Speaker 3: film it during November and December of twenty twenty, so
- 3:28Speaker 3: real snowy.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Their breath, I mean it was snowy.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I did also see we talked about last week, our
- 3:36Speaker 2: actor did his own skiing.
- 3:38Speaker 1: This week.
- 3:39Speaker 2: She showed a shot of her ski double on Instagram.
- 3:43Speaker 2: It was in a collage a photo. She didn't specifically
- 3:45Speaker 2: call her out, but there was a side by side
- 3:47Speaker 2: photo of them dressed identically. And okay, yes, so I
- 3:50Speaker 2: don't know if Brooks Darnell had a ski double as well,
- 3:56Speaker 2: but she definitely did.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Got it.
- 4:01Speaker 3: I saw that two things this movie was going to
- 4:05Speaker 3: be named something else, Yes, Love Alps, Love in the Alps,
- 4:10Speaker 3: and Love in the Rockies. They decided on a winter getaway.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I mean, obviously Love in the Alps since they changed
- 4:18Speaker 2: the locale didn't work. Love in the Rockies, eh, A
- 4:21Speaker 2: renter getaway.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I think it fits what's happening right right.
- 4:27Speaker 3: So I have read a little bit of criticism about
- 4:30Speaker 3: this movie. Are you interested in hearing it?
- 4:32Speaker 1: They said that?
- 4:34Speaker 3: And when I say they, A couple of commenters on
- 4:38Speaker 3: the IMDb website said that the music was the sound
- 4:43Speaker 3: level of the music was too loud in some of
- 4:45Speaker 3: the scenes that you couldn't hear the actor speaking had
- 4:50Speaker 3: Did you did you notice any of that?
- 4:53Speaker 1: No? Did you?
- 4:54Speaker 3: I noticed that the soundtrack I thought was great. I
- 4:57Speaker 3: thought it was like current and made it feel like
- 5:01Speaker 3: I was watching a real movie. But I didn't notice
- 5:06Speaker 3: it the sound level being like too high.
- 5:09Speaker 2: One of the reviews in the Hallmark app the premise
- 5:14Speaker 2: was interesting and the actor's appealing, but we couldn't hear
- 5:16Speaker 2: key dialogue. It seems to be a growing problem.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I just people got to complain about something.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Dude, what is your first impression of this movie?
- 5:29Speaker 3: I really enjoyed it.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Why are you laughing? I was so bored.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Okay, that's what my husband said. He's like, this is
- 5:39Speaker 3: the most boring movie. Nothing is happening. There's no like
- 5:44Speaker 3: forward movement in it.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Well, what's funny, and we'll go to what we liked next.
- 5:49Speaker 2: But what's weird for me is that there were so
- 5:51Speaker 2: many individual aspects of the movie that I liked, but
- 5:53Speaker 2: it didn't add up to being a great movie.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Okay, the super Fair, let's talk about those things. Okay,
- 6:01Speaker 3: So the first thing I liked. I loved the actors.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I loved both the lead actors.
- 6:06Speaker 1: In this movie.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I thought they were charming and believable and good actors.
- 6:12Speaker 2: I enjoyed them on screen. They were not sometimes these
- 6:15Speaker 2: actors are uncomfortable to watch, but I felt like they
- 6:18Speaker 2: played their roles well.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Well.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I really liked them both. I think I like Brookstar
- 6:24Speaker 3: now maybe a little bit better, only because he seemed
- 6:28Speaker 3: very natural to me with like the script. But I
- 6:33Speaker 3: liked them together, and I thought they had chemistry from go,
- 6:36Speaker 3: so I did enjoy them too, and I would absolutely
- 6:42Speaker 3: watch another movie that they star in. I also loved
- 6:48Speaker 3: the many montages that we got, throwing it back to
- 6:51Speaker 3: one of your wishes from.
- 6:52Speaker 1: The last movie. It was a little bit of an
- 6:53Speaker 1: action sequence.
- 6:54Speaker 2: We got a skiing montage, a dog setting montage, and
- 6:57Speaker 2: a curling montage.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I found those highly enjoyable to watch me too.
- 7:03Speaker 3: I thought those were really good too, and it made
- 7:05Speaker 3: me go, man, I want a dog sled. That would
- 7:08Speaker 3: be so much fun. And then when they curled, I
- 7:11Speaker 3: was like curling again. Because if you remember, curling was
- 7:14Speaker 3: also featured in a New Year's resolution. My husband just
- 7:18Speaker 3: goes Canada, That's all he said to me.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I complained about curling.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Well, someone on Twitter was responding to the Hallmark channel
- 7:27Speaker 2: and they're like, this is the first time I've ever
- 7:29Speaker 2: seen curling in a Hallmark movie. And I had to, well,
- 7:30Speaker 2: actually them and be.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Like it was an a huge resolution.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Also, they did not respond, and they apparently did not
- 7:35Speaker 2: appreciate my insight.
- 7:37Speaker 3: But I asked my husband. I go, I was like,
- 7:40Speaker 3: is curly the thing here in the States?
- 7:42Speaker 1: I don't. There's gotta be some.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Like medcally, but there is a league here in California.
- 7:49Speaker 2: No way, my phoneh did like an intro lesson.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Okay, So I think post pandemic, when we can do this,
- 7:58Speaker 3: I think we should go curling because that.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Would be so funny.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Yeah, there's an Orange County curling club all curling suspended.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Oh that is funny.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 8:11Speaker 3: So, like I said, I really like the soundtrack in
- 8:13Speaker 3: this movie. The scenery was so beautiful to look at,
- 8:19Speaker 3: just so many beautiful shots. I especially liked when they
- 8:26Speaker 3: were out shopping and they were walking down that little
- 8:29Speaker 3: main street.
- 8:30Speaker 1: It was just so cute.
- 8:32Speaker 3: And I want to go there so badly. I'm glad
- 8:35Speaker 3: that they were actually filming in vamp you know, filming
- 8:39Speaker 3: where they're supposed to be. And it was so funny
- 8:43Speaker 3: because I was wondering, you know, the Fairmont Springs is
- 8:46Speaker 3: like the big hotel out there, and you know how
- 8:51Speaker 3: they in the movie there was like a hotel that
- 8:53Speaker 3: was under renovations or whatever. Yeah, they got the hotel
- 8:56Speaker 3: they were referring.
- 8:57Speaker 1: They did Fairmont.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Ah.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Interesting, So I wonder if the Fairmont allowed that because
- 9:04Speaker 3: they just don't have any tourism there right now.
- 9:07Speaker 2: And another one of the notes I saw said another
- 9:10Speaker 2: one of the movies was also filmed at a different
- 9:12Speaker 2: Fairmont property.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Man, I want to go there so badly. That's what
- 9:18Speaker 3: I liked about it. I agree with you that it
- 9:20Speaker 3: was a little bit slow. All the kind of like
- 9:24Speaker 3: action happened, of course at the very very end. And
- 9:28Speaker 3: we'll get to that, because I have some like criticism
- 9:31Speaker 3: about that, okay, but let's.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Move on to.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Oh, oh, do you have any I do a very
- 9:41Speaker 2: short list, you know, they throw it in very early
- 9:44Speaker 2: on and as a reminder, no relationships with the clients.
- 9:47Speaker 2: And of course she shows up and he's beautiful and
- 9:49Speaker 2: she falls for him, and oh, she's not allowed to
- 9:52Speaker 2: date him, and he tries to kiss her.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that was that scene was super awkward when she
- 9:57Speaker 3: like turned away from him and he was like, I'm
- 9:59Speaker 3: so sorry.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I was like, what I.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Didn't understand because she made him feel He was like, oh,
- 10:04Speaker 2: I got caught up in the moment, and she was like, yeah,
- 10:06Speaker 2: why wouldn't she just say I was feeling it too,
- 10:09Speaker 2: But it's not like, you know, it's not allowed.
- 10:12Speaker 1: My job is on the line.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Yeah, just communicate with the guy like, hey, I'm feeling
- 10:16Speaker 3: you too, but right now, like I can't this. My
- 10:19Speaker 3: job is important to me and I can't mess things up,
- 10:22Speaker 3: So hands.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Off or whatever you oh for me. I have one note.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Joe is a liar, I wrote, He's a liar, blessed Mark.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I mean that's the whole problem.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Like there were I get so frustrated with these movies sometimes.
- 10:45Speaker 3: While I like them, these are easy fixes and these
- 10:49Speaker 3: people make their life too complicated.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Also, I didn't care about his lie. I could not
- 10:59Speaker 2: muster the energy to be angry with him. No part
- 11:02Speaker 2: of me was like, eh, I mean, okay, so he's
- 11:05Speaker 2: not a billionaire, but I don't know.
- 11:07Speaker 1: There was no part of me that cared at all
- 11:10Speaker 1: about his life. And I really was like, why do
- 11:11Speaker 1: you care? Why do you care?
- 11:13Speaker 2: You don't actually care that he's not a billionaire. If
- 11:15Speaker 2: you had met him, you still would have liked him.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Nothing that you like about him is because he maybe
- 11:20Speaker 2: is a billionaire, So why do you care?
- 11:22Speaker 1: I didn't.
- 11:24Speaker 3: She cares because she wants a relationship like her mother
- 11:27Speaker 3: and father, and their relationship is based off of trust
- 11:31Speaker 3: and honesty, and so if Joe can't be honest with
- 11:35Speaker 3: her that he's not a billionaire, then that blows.
- 11:39Speaker 1: The relationship out of the water for her fair enough.
- 11:43Speaker 3: We had a lot of funny jokes at home. Basically,
- 11:46Speaker 3: the guy works for geek squad. Yes, he's the mobile
- 11:50Speaker 3: guy that comes out O place. And then I was like,
- 11:52Speaker 3: why doesn't his billionaire best friend give him a better job?
- 11:55Speaker 3: Like that is so ridiculous, Like if he's that, like, okay,
- 12:01Speaker 3: there's a difference between being techie who can fix a
- 12:04Speaker 3: computer and then writing code who can build an app.
- 12:07Speaker 3: So doesn't why doesn't his friend give him a better job?
- 12:12Speaker 3: Like it's just stupid to me?
- 12:14Speaker 1: Stupid?
- 12:15Speaker 2: Well, should we jump into what we wished for?
- 12:18Speaker 1: Sure? My first wish was for real jobs.
- 12:23Speaker 2: I okay, First of all, what's her name, Courtney? I
- 12:29Speaker 2: hated her job. Look why because while I believe that
- 12:35Speaker 2: these high end concierge businesses exist, they're not traveling with you.
- 12:41Speaker 1: They're not showing up.
- 12:43Speaker 2: They will make all of the arrangements so that the
- 12:45Speaker 2: person at the hotel will walk you to your driver
- 12:48Speaker 2: who is waiting to take you to your helicopter skiing
- 12:50Speaker 2: h They're not showing up and walking you to breakfast.
- 12:54Speaker 2: It's just I know that felt fake to me. Also,
- 12:58Speaker 2: her app idea is so stupid it is twenty twenty one.
- 13:05Speaker 2: First of all, she's like, wants to create a combination
- 13:08Speaker 2: between like a YouTube channel and trip Advisor. Yeah, And
- 13:11Speaker 2: what was weird to me is he's like, you'll create
- 13:14Speaker 2: this app and they'll be like, I want to go
- 13:15Speaker 2: to the Swiss Alps. That's not what he said, but
- 13:17Speaker 2: and like a video will pop up and you're telling
- 13:19Speaker 2: them all about it. Except she hasn't created any of
- 13:22Speaker 2: this content. So you want her to launch an app
- 13:25Speaker 2: that is the ultimate travel guide when she has not
- 13:28Speaker 2: created she has to start traveling to create. How in
- 13:32Speaker 2: the world how many years is it going to take
- 13:34Speaker 2: her to be the ultimate travel guide app?
- 13:37Speaker 1: Who's gonna want to invest in that?
- 13:40Speaker 2: His billionaire friend apparently is just gonna give them money
- 13:43Speaker 2: to travel the world and make videos.
- 13:44Speaker 1: That's what it made it sound like.
- 13:46Speaker 2: At the end, lady, make a YouTube channel in your
- 13:50Speaker 2: spare time.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I mean, I'm all for following your dreams.
- 13:54Speaker 2: I also think I am such a dream killer. My
- 13:58Speaker 2: husband had talked about this business idea, and I consider
- 14:01Speaker 2: myself a realist. You can call it whatever you want.
- 14:04Speaker 2: And I was not knocking the idea at all, just
- 14:09Speaker 2: pointing out like the things that you might need to
- 14:11Speaker 2: think about.
- 14:13Speaker 1: It can be a bit of a dream killer.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Well, it was a dumb idea for an app. You're
- 14:18Speaker 3: right about that. That's pretty wish for I wish for
- 14:24Speaker 3: a little more clarity on who Joe really was. As
- 14:28Speaker 3: the viewer of this movie, you need to be let
- 14:31Speaker 3: in on like the secret or the I think it's
- 14:36Speaker 3: better as the viewer that you know what's going on,
- 14:39Speaker 3: even though like the main character doesn't know what's going on,
- 14:42Speaker 3: because otherwise than you're confused as well as what's going on.
- 14:45Speaker 3: So I was You sent me a text yesterday and
- 14:50Speaker 3: you're like, I think I missed the.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Big part, And so I missed a major plot point.
- 14:55Speaker 2: But it turns out I hadn't. They just hadn't told us.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they need to tell the viewer anyhow.
- 15:01Speaker 3: With Joe going on the vacation for his friend and
- 15:06Speaker 3: like the mix up at work, it's not that big
- 15:08Speaker 3: of a deal, Like the whole scene where like when
- 15:11Speaker 3: they're back at the agency and the lady's like, oh,
- 15:14Speaker 3: somebody else.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Is paying for it, then who's Joe Boom whatever?
- 15:18Speaker 3: Like Google exists, why aren't they googling Joe whatever? His
- 15:22Speaker 3: name was Franklin because they thought he was the head
- 15:26Speaker 3: of geek Squad.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I know it wasn't called Bat.
- 15:29Speaker 2: But a dossier on him with all of the information.
- 15:32Speaker 2: That's what I didn't understand. The person who had originally
- 15:35Speaker 2: had this account gave her this file with information about him.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Had she just created the file about the billionaire and
- 15:43Speaker 2: then changed the name when it turns out the billionaire
- 15:46Speaker 2: wasn't going to take the trip. I guess said she
- 15:48Speaker 2: had this file, I had all this information. You know,
- 15:50Speaker 2: Joe wasn't like didn't give her that information.
- 15:54Speaker 1: I don't.
- 15:55Speaker 2: I agree that it would have been better if we
- 15:57Speaker 2: had been let in from the start and all of
- 15:59Speaker 2: the little like he almost finds out moments or the
- 16:02Speaker 2: moments where it's very clear that he's like new to
- 16:05Speaker 2: money would have been funnier as the viewer as opposed
- 16:11Speaker 2: to us going what's wrong.
- 16:11Speaker 1: With this dude?
- 16:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:13Speaker 2: They also cut out a scene that was in a
- 16:15Speaker 2: promo that I saw on Instagram where when they offer
- 16:19Speaker 2: him a mimosa and he asked for root beer. In
- 16:23Speaker 2: the promo, he says, oh is it free?
- 16:27Speaker 1: Oh? But they cut that out, and.
- 16:30Speaker 2: You know, he's like riding the airplane chair, like it's
- 16:33Speaker 2: a roller coaster. Ian dude in a chair that moves
- 16:36Speaker 2: before he's been in a car. I like that part
- 16:43Speaker 2: the movie theater has reclining chair. It's not like his
- 16:46Speaker 2: first day on the planet.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Oh you're funny, Okay, So I wish they had more snowboarding.
- 16:53Speaker 3: It was supposed to be a snowboarding trip, right, and
- 16:57Speaker 3: you would think that he's in this like spectacular place
- 17:01Speaker 3: for boarding. Wouldn't he do it every single day? He's
- 17:04Speaker 3: not gonna be.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Like, oh I'm too.
- 17:07Speaker 3: I mean I don't snowboard, so I don't know like
- 17:09Speaker 3: how taxing it is on your body. But for someone
- 17:12Speaker 3: who was like going on a three day trip or
- 17:15Speaker 3: four day trip to snowboard, I would think that they
- 17:17Speaker 3: would go more than one day. So I have been
- 17:20Speaker 3: snowboarding and it was the most store I've ever been.
- 17:24Speaker 1: But man.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Snowboarding who has his own snowboard, who like cares very
- 17:30Speaker 2: much about his snowboard, he's not new to it. He's
- 17:32Speaker 2: clearly in good shape, so like he's not me.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 17:38Speaker 2: It was obviously like, oh, we only have the body
- 17:40Speaker 2: doubles for a day, so we only get one snowboarding shot,
- 17:43Speaker 2: and I also had issues with the snowboarding itself, the
- 17:45Speaker 2: like ski lift would skew lift. We're gonna helicopter and
- 17:49Speaker 2: this is so stupid. Yes, helicopter skiing is a thing,
- 17:52Speaker 2: but it's typically to like remote locations where you can't
- 17:54Speaker 2: ski it. It's not like we're gonna helicopter you to
- 17:57Speaker 2: the top of the mountain because rich people don't write
- 17:58Speaker 2: a ski lifts. No, no, and they're like the old
- 18:03Speaker 2: on these perfectly groomed runs. No, that's no, that was ridiculous.
- 18:07Speaker 2: She's like waving the helicopter down to land.
- 18:09Speaker 1: And pick them up.
- 18:11Speaker 2: No, it is so stupid, right.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Okay, okay, okay.
- 18:17Speaker 2: I just wished for deeper relationships with some of the
- 18:19Speaker 2: side characters in some of these movies. We've had great
- 18:22Speaker 2: friendships that really drive part of the movie.
- 18:25Speaker 1: And other than maybe the bell.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Hop at the hotel game, we didn't have, yes, thank you,
- 18:32Speaker 2: we didn't have that, you know, her boss back at home.
- 18:36Speaker 2: I just wanted some other side character that I cared about.
- 18:40Speaker 2: I know, but they're on vacation somewhere. There's you know,
- 18:43Speaker 2: there's no friends with them, so they could have made
- 18:46Speaker 2: it up. Okay, all right, fine.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Time.
- 18:51Speaker 1: How are everyone's favorite part of the podcast? Did you
- 18:54Speaker 1: see that? I have a couple me too? Go ahead? Okay.
- 18:58Speaker 3: First of all, when they were in the airplane, in
- 19:03Speaker 3: the private jet and she was having problems with her computer,
- 19:07Speaker 3: he said, oh, you have to clear the cachet. It's
- 19:12Speaker 3: not called the cachet, it's called the cash. A techie
- 19:15Speaker 3: computer guy knows that, right. I was so annoyed.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Where is the.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Script person who like follows every word of the script
- 19:23Speaker 3: when they're making when they're making this movie.
- 19:26Speaker 1: In another room because it's COVID.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Behind her mask, it's too far to run in there
- 19:32Speaker 2: to correct them.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Just keep rolling. She's like, it's cash, not cachet.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Yeah, So that was annoying. But I did think there
- 19:41Speaker 3: were some funny lines in there, and I will be
- 19:44Speaker 3: sharing those on our Girls Gone Hallmark Instagram. But what
- 19:49Speaker 3: did you see?
- 19:50Speaker 2: Did you happen to zoom in on the rental price
- 19:53Speaker 2: when she rents her ski clothes. I was very curious
- 19:56Speaker 2: to see, like if they had made a real invoice
- 19:59Speaker 2: on that screen they had it was like one hundred
- 20:01Speaker 2: and forty two dollars, But I was like, that's it green, Yeah,
- 20:06Speaker 2: just for a day's rental that actually, I mean it's
- 20:08Speaker 2: just going to keep it.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Well, I thought mister millionaire was buying it for her.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Oh he asked for like the best rentals in town.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Okay.
- 20:17Speaker 3: And here's the other thing. Like, so they went shopping.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Homeboy doesn't have any money, and like they're like acting
- 20:24Speaker 3: like they're just gonna like, oh, we're going down and
- 20:28Speaker 3: shopping in Beverly Hills buying anything that we want. Like
- 20:31Speaker 3: that didn't make any sense to me. He wants to
- 20:34Speaker 3: go shopping, but he doesn't have any money.
- 20:36Speaker 2: But he ended up at the art gallery when they
- 20:39Speaker 2: were shopping, and then they went to the souvenir shop.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Yeah, oh again the souvenir. She's like, look at this
- 20:45Speaker 3: beautiful snow globe. It was like the cheesiest, crappiest bamp
- 20:52Speaker 3: snow globe that you're gonna get at some little touristy shop. Like, uh, dumb, dumb,
- 20:59Speaker 3: dumb dump. Okay. Did you watch this scene where there's
- 21:05Speaker 3: two of them where he's drinking beer. Yeah, I don't
- 21:08Speaker 3: think he ever.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Takes a sip.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Oh, his his sipping was terrible. I did realize that.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I don't think he takes a sip.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I think he like, there's the scene where they have
- 21:18Speaker 2: the flight of beer, and then there's the scene where
- 21:20Speaker 2: he's with Gabe and his beer is half finish, and
- 21:22Speaker 2: Gabe does and touches, and he keeps like drinking his beer,
- 21:25Speaker 2: but none of it ever goes in his mouth.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Oh funny. I was like, if you can't.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Drink it, because you're redoing the scene over and over again,
- 21:32Speaker 2: give him something he can drink, please, because it.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Was like it was bad well in that flight when
- 21:40Speaker 3: I had the flight of beers too, Like my husband's like, that's.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Not how you do it, Like you don't.
- 21:45Speaker 3: You don't sip one from over here and then sip
- 21:47Speaker 3: one from over here and then try this one here,
- 21:49Speaker 3: like you're supposed to drink them in order, like.
- 21:51Speaker 1: The lightest to darkest or hat. Yes, I thought that
- 21:54Speaker 1: was weird. He's like, work toward the middle. I know works.
- 21:59Speaker 2: In the hot Chocolate scene, while we're talking about drinks,
- 22:02Speaker 2: there's a moment where Courtney's drink goes from completely full
- 22:04Speaker 2: and then the next shot it's half gone.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Oh she downed it. His doesn't change, he doesn't touch his,
- 22:12Speaker 1: but there was there was a continuity issue there.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Okay, how about when they're eating lunch?
- 22:17Speaker 1: What is squab? I think it's some sort of foul
- 22:22Speaker 1: I think it's a bird.
- 22:24Speaker 3: So they have this whole conversation about like what he
- 22:26Speaker 3: does want to eat, and he's talking about chili dogs
- 22:29Speaker 3: and macaroni and cheese, and I don't I can't remember
- 22:32Speaker 3: what else he said, and she's like, great, meet me,
- 22:35Speaker 3: I'll work on it. Made me downstairs at one o'clock.
- 22:37Speaker 3: And then they don't eat. They go out shopping. So
- 22:41Speaker 3: I'm like, what happened to the chili dog scene? Like
- 22:43Speaker 3: I was looking forard to that.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Why is he so first of all, why is she
- 22:48Speaker 2: ordering for him? That's the weirdest thing, so damning. Rich
- 22:51Speaker 2: people can order their own food, they can make choices,
- 22:54Speaker 2: And why is he afraid to say when she's ordering
- 22:56Speaker 2: like these breakfast it isn't like like you can order
- 22:59Speaker 2: your own French I don't It was.
- 23:02Speaker 1: No, I'm sorry.
- 23:03Speaker 2: They it's like they've never met a rich person before.
- 23:06Speaker 2: And I don't know, unless like you have a personal
- 23:10Speaker 2: assistant who knows like what your typical breakfast order is,
- 23:14Speaker 2: You're not gonna have a stranger ordering food for you.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Simply because it's fancy. Right, It's perfectly fine to.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Like a burger, right, dude, order a burger for lunch? Right?
- 23:24Speaker 3: And well that was so frustrating, Like if you don't
- 23:26Speaker 3: like the squab do you'd just be like, hey, can
- 23:28Speaker 3: I get a burger instead? Like this is not what
- 23:31Speaker 3: I want to eat for lunch? But instead he chokes
- 23:33Speaker 3: it down, like this's so dumb.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Come on, all right, how many stars are you going
- 23:40Speaker 2: to give this Winter Getaway?
- 23:42Speaker 1: Okay?
- 23:43Speaker 3: Seriously again, same as last week when it ended, I
- 23:46Speaker 3: was like, this is the best Hallmark movie I've ever seen.
- 23:49Speaker 3: It's so good, and my husband's like it was so boring.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Since then we discuss what I would rate it, and
- 23:56Speaker 3: he's like, how can you even give it that? I'm
- 23:59Speaker 3: gonna give this movie, God, Magan, I want to give
- 24:04Speaker 3: it like three stars, so generous. It was so beautiful
- 24:10Speaker 3: to look at, and the actors were beautiful. I just
- 24:14Speaker 3: I liked a lot of elements of it, but like
- 24:18Speaker 3: you said earlier, like it just didn't all worked together.
- 24:21Speaker 3: So I think a three is super generous. It was
- 24:25Speaker 3: still better than a New Year's.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Resolution falls wrong came together for me.
- 24:33Speaker 2: This movie, I agree I liked many of the elements
- 24:36Speaker 2: on their own, and if I were greeting them individually
- 24:38Speaker 2: and adding them up, I probably would get to a
- 24:40Speaker 2: much higher score. But overall, based on my experience watching it,
- 24:44Speaker 2: it's a two star for me, and I feel so
- 24:47Speaker 2: badly doing that because there were a lot of great things.
- 24:50Speaker 2: I would love to see both of them in another movie.
- 24:53Speaker 2: But this, you know, sometimes you can only do so
- 24:55Speaker 2: much with the material you're given, and I think they
- 24:57Speaker 2: were maybe given a stinker.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Well, I disagree.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I thought the writing was pretty good, but maybe whoever
- 25:05Speaker 3: like came up with the overall story of it was
- 25:09Speaker 3: not good.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I thought their lines were good. No, yeah, that's true.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I didn't. I found the conversation fine. I don't.
- 25:18Speaker 2: I can't put my finger on what fell flat for
- 25:21Speaker 2: me because there were so many enjoyable moments, but.
- 25:26Speaker 1: And didn't care. I don't. I didn't feel. I feel
- 25:30Speaker 1: very badly about that. Well.
- 25:31Speaker 3: I had really high hopes going into it because I
- 25:33Speaker 3: was like, look at they have this diverse main cast.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Yes, I was excited about that.
- 25:39Speaker 3: I had heard an interview of Brookstar now I liked him,
- 25:45Speaker 3: so I had like really high hopes and yeah, I
- 25:50Speaker 3: know a three is too generous.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Maybe I think you stick with your gun going. Oh okay,
- 25:56Speaker 1: I mean I liked it. Do I think I'd watched
- 25:58Speaker 1: it again?
- 25:59Speaker 3: No, but I don't know.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I liked I liked Brooks.
- 26:04Speaker 3: I liked Brooks Star Now too.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Well he They both have pretty deep resumes, but not
- 26:11Speaker 2: a ton of Hallmark movies on them, which I like.
- 26:13Speaker 2: I like to see someone who's not entrenched in the
- 26:16Speaker 2: Hallmark community and shake things up that.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Can dip in between like Hallmark and regular TV.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Yes, real TV. You know what I mean. I feel
- 26:29Speaker 1: the same way.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Okay, so I will tell you I'm not looking forward
- 26:32Speaker 3: to next week's movie.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Oh no, why not? It looks boring.
- 26:37Speaker 3: I hope maybe it's a low expectation. Well, uh, we'll
- 26:41Speaker 3: make it a good one.
- 26:43Speaker 1: I really like her.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Jen Lily is the actress in that movie, and I
- 26:46Speaker 2: like her a lot, so I'm hoping that she brings
- 26:47Speaker 2: it home for me. Next week's movie is Snow Kissed,
- 26:50Speaker 2: featuring Jen Lily and Chris McNally, and we will see
- 26:53Speaker 2: if it exceeds Wendy's expectations. Good to go in low,
- 26:57Speaker 2: hard to hard to go below your expectation? We have
- 27:04Speaker 2: our regular podcast episodes that come out every Tuesday. We'd
- 27:07Speaker 2: love for you to check those out, and as always,
- 27:09Speaker 2: we appreciate the ratings and reviews you leave for our
- 27:12Speaker 2: show and we'll see you next week. Bye, goodbye,
