A Minnesota company is paying nearly a million dollars to fix the mess it made by illegally offering high-cost home equity loans disguised as simple agreements. The Attorney General says Unlock Partnership Solutions targeted financially vulnerable homeowners, charging sky-high fees and interest rates while claiming there was no debt—when in reality, yearly rates hit 22% and costs often doubled or more what borrowers got.
