- 0:03Speaker 1: What's up a J. Brown krats?
- 0:07Speaker 2: Let's have some fun, uh, top of the show here
- 0:10Speaker 2: just for a minute before we dive into some topics.
- 0:12Speaker 1: This is technically a topic. It's just going to take
- 0:14Speaker 1: a minute.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Did you guys see that Jage so Laer got his
- 0:18Speaker 2: suspension reduced? I think sometimes those things just completely slipped in. Yeah,
- 0:23Speaker 2: barely saw anybody four games?
- 0:25Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 0:26Speaker 1: From seven to four? Mm hmm.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Fair. That's interesting. Charge charge the mount? Did you get
- 0:33Speaker 3: four games?
- 0:36Speaker 4: I mean it's better for him, but I don't know.
- 0:38Speaker 4: I thought charging the mound was a minimum minimum of
- 0:41Speaker 4: five games? But you know what, if you want a
- 0:44Speaker 4: four day rest, four day weekend, I didn't charge the mound.
- 0:48Speaker 4: I want a picture that's throwing well against you.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Did you think it would be more?
- 0:54Speaker 3: I did? Yeah. I mean, shouldn't you get the same
- 0:57Speaker 3: thing Mopez got? With Lopez get five?
- 1:01Speaker 1: He accepted five from.
- 1:05Speaker 2: The number, right, because then he could basically start on
- 1:08Speaker 2: time with an extra day arrest.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Yeah, But I mean, shouldn't so there get the same
- 1:13Speaker 3: thing that Lopez got?
- 1:15Speaker 1: I would say he should get He's.
- 1:16Speaker 3: The one that charge the mound. He's the one that
- 1:17Speaker 3: charges the mound.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that whole process is kind of sloppy
- 1:22Speaker 2: now and should get corrected.
- 1:24Speaker 1: It doesn't make sense most of that.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Most of what happens there aj has to do with
- 1:29Speaker 2: timing of rest days and for a starter, when you
- 1:33Speaker 2: want to start again, for a reliever, if you want
- 1:35Speaker 2: to take some days off, and then even for a hitter,
- 1:38Speaker 2: maybe they find a window where they're like, we were
- 1:40Speaker 2: going to give you a day.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Here, let's take it now.
- 1:43Speaker 2: It's just that's not the nature of how punishments should
- 1:46Speaker 2: be implemented. Let me fit this into my schedule. Hold on,
- 1:50Speaker 2: let me bring up my calendar. Can you suspend me
- 1:53Speaker 2: on Wednesday, the twenty first, That would be great, Thank
- 1:57Speaker 2: you stupid.
- 1:58Speaker 3: That's pretty much how they do it, you know that, right, Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You're right when you break
- 2:03Speaker 1: this down.
- 2:04Speaker 2: The dude who charged got less games than the dude
- 2:07Speaker 2: who didn't, who obviously defended himself, but silly just wanted
- 2:13Speaker 2: to throw that in there. Not going to spend a
- 2:14Speaker 2: whole thang on it. We've done it already. Fight of
- 2:17Speaker 2: the Year so far, but it's only mid April.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Let's get to.
- 2:21Speaker 2: The hottest team in baseball, the San Diego Padres had
- 2:29Speaker 2: an epic win over the Mariners last night. They have
- 2:33Speaker 2: won seven games in a row. It is the best
- 2:36Speaker 2: win streak in baseball. They're starting up a three game
- 2:38Speaker 2: set against the Angels tomorrow. They're finishing up against the Mariners.
- 2:44Speaker 2: They're nine to one in their last ten games. AJ,
- 2:49Speaker 2: do you think this is a nice little hot stretch
- 2:52Speaker 2: or a team that could be very dangerous in the
- 2:55Speaker 2: National League.
- 2:57Speaker 3: If they can stay healthy. I mean, that's the big
- 3:00Speaker 3: for me, that's the biggest thing. Can they stay healthy,
- 3:01Speaker 3: especially pitching wise, if they can keep you know, their
- 3:06Speaker 3: starting pitchers with King Paveta the rest of their starters healthy.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I think they can because they do have a decent offense.
- 3:12Speaker 3: When guys like Bogart's and Jackson Merrill and some of
- 3:15Speaker 3: these guys are hitting the way they have been, I
- 3:17Speaker 3: think they have a pretty good offense. So it just's
- 3:20Speaker 3: gonna come down to health. I mean, can Mason Miller
- 3:22Speaker 3: just never give up a hit the whole year, I mean,
- 3:24Speaker 3: and strike everybody out if he can, then yes, I
- 3:27Speaker 3: think they can be dangerous. But it's going to come
- 3:29Speaker 3: down to health for them. We all know that, and
- 3:31Speaker 3: we'll see where they end up.
- 3:33Speaker 2: I do want to get to the health front because
- 3:34Speaker 2: Nick Pavetta news keeps sounding worse like he's going to
- 3:38Speaker 2: be a significant time. We can mix in some Lucas
- 3:40Speaker 2: Giulio into this conversation too, But just to start here, Kratz,
- 3:44Speaker 2: this team was down six to nothing after five inings.
- 3:47Speaker 2: They were down four runs heading into the ninth inning.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Actually it was down four runs after that second out, right,
- 3:56Speaker 2: and then they mounted the comeback for they down.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Two or four when it was two outs. I watch everything.
- 4:03Speaker 4: The sack fly, the sackfly, and you put them down
- 4:06Speaker 4: by three.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Right, Ramon Lariano with a huge knock. There's rumors that
- 4:11Speaker 2: he might join the show tomorrow. But they pull off
- 4:14Speaker 2: a seven to six walk off win. Jackson Merril gets
- 4:17Speaker 2: the walk off and yes, one of the best catches
- 4:21Speaker 2: we've seen this year. The Mariners have been robbed at
- 4:24Speaker 2: least four times because they were robbed for home runs
- 4:26Speaker 2: by Joe Adelle three times in one game, and then
- 4:29Speaker 2: Meryl got him. We're showing the walk off knock for
- 4:31Speaker 2: Meryl here, the double that scored two good vibes for
- 4:35Speaker 2: this team.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Right now.
- 4:37Speaker 2: For me, Kratz, I mean offense is gonna come and go.
- 4:39Speaker 2: They probably need some more pop in the past. You
- 4:42Speaker 2: hope that Meryl has a better year. He's got tons
- 4:46Speaker 2: of potential and we saw it more two years ago.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Thought with some injuries last year, Tatis starting to pick
- 4:52Speaker 2: things up. Bogarts has looked good lately, and they have
- 4:56Speaker 2: such stability in their bullpen that even when they lose
- 4:59Speaker 2: a guy or two, just feel like there's still a nice,
- 5:01Speaker 2: high leverage mix for them.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the part that I was gonna say when
- 5:05Speaker 4: AJ was talking about injuries. They already lost Pavetta. Pavetta
- 5:10Speaker 4: was the rock for them last year. They still have
- 5:13Speaker 4: an okay rotation, but really, you don't need a lot
- 5:18Speaker 4: from your rotation when you have as deep a bullpen
- 5:21Speaker 4: as they have. And they even lost Robert Suarez in
- 5:24Speaker 4: the offseason. But mari Hoane I think, added like an
- 5:27Speaker 4: average mile per hour to his fastball, so he's averaging
- 5:31Speaker 4: one hundred miles an hour from the left side. Everybody
- 5:34Speaker 4: knows what Mason Miller is doing. Jeremiah Strout is coming
- 5:38Speaker 4: out of that pet like. This team has the deepest
- 5:41Speaker 4: bullpen by far. The issue is are they going to
- 5:47Speaker 4: hit the ball out of the ballpark enough. Are they
- 5:49Speaker 4: going to be able to put together a lot of
- 5:52Speaker 4: hits to be able to score six runs? Are they
- 5:55Speaker 4: going to be able to keep that up the entire season?
- 6:00Speaker 4: And I think, you know teams, we always complain about
- 6:03Speaker 4: teams that only hit home runs and strike out. Oh,
- 6:05Speaker 4: they're gonna be super inconsistent. There's gonna be ups and downs.
- 6:09Speaker 4: It's the same with a team that doesn't hit home runs. Well,
- 6:12Speaker 4: when your team's scuffling, you can never hit them, and
- 6:15Speaker 4: you don't hit the ball out of the ballpark, how
- 6:16Speaker 4: can you ever come back in the game. So it's
- 6:18Speaker 4: one of those things that I have them as a
- 6:21Speaker 4: playoff team, but I have them as a playoff team
- 6:24Speaker 4: because of the fact that I think they're better because
- 6:28Speaker 4: they're in the National League West. They're going they think
- 6:32Speaker 4: they can catch the Dodgers, and so I think they're
- 6:34Speaker 4: gonna be striving for that and then ultimately hit the playoffs.
- 6:38Speaker 4: And I think the West is worse than everybody thinks.
- 6:41Speaker 4: And I get it it's early, but the Giants are duchy.
- 6:45Speaker 4: The Rockies we know are dukie, and I think the
- 6:48Speaker 4: I think the Diamondbacks are gonna give you. They're gonna
- 6:52Speaker 4: give you a tough game every time. But I think
- 6:54Speaker 4: they're just a little short, and so I think there's
- 6:56Speaker 4: a lot of wins for them in the West as
- 6:58Speaker 4: you get into Division play.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Kratz the world has a cord problem. Wires everywhere. It's
- 7:06Speaker 2: twenty twenty six and it is time to get.
- 7:09Speaker 3: A Ridge wallet.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Five and one. It's not a wallet, it's a charger.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Look at this thing. It sticks to your phone. You
- 7:17Speaker 4: push the button, it charges your phone while you can
- 7:20Speaker 4: charge two different items at the same time. Oh and
- 7:23Speaker 4: don't forget while it's charging. You got a little a
- 7:27Speaker 4: little lean to John that'll help it sit right there.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Appreciate your ridgewallet.
- 7:32Speaker 1: This is so nice, which is great for me.
- 7:34Speaker 2: If I'm at the airport, I'm watching a game, I
- 7:36Speaker 2: can charge five devices and then I can just watch
- 7:39Speaker 2: something on the phone. Of course, they still have the
- 7:40Speaker 2: wallets that are money too, and we know the code.
- 7:42Speaker 2: It's nice and simple.
- 7:43Speaker 1: It's foul foul. One thing to pack. Five ways to power.
- 7:48Speaker 2: You can find Ridge's power bank at best Buy or
- 7:50Speaker 2: our listeners can get ten percent off at Ridge dot
- 7:52Speaker 2: com by using code foul at checkout. Head to Ridge
- 7:55Speaker 2: dot com use code foul and you're all set. After
- 7:58Speaker 2: your purchase, they'll ask you where you heard about them.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Please support ft untel him we sent you Aja. You
- 8:03Speaker 2: know who looks much better. I know he'll split time
- 8:06Speaker 2: with Freddy for mean. But Luise camp Pusano was a
- 8:09Speaker 2: big prospect years back. Taking him a minute, he's twenty
- 8:13Speaker 2: seven years old. We didn't show the clip the other
- 8:15Speaker 2: day because often this show is running on television screens.
- 8:19Speaker 2: But they asked him what's changed, and he said, I
- 8:21Speaker 2: stopped to give in a flirb.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Well, he also went to Triple A and hit three
- 8:28Speaker 3: thirty with like thirty five homers last year something like that,
- 8:31Speaker 3: so let's not forget. I think he might have an
- 8:33Speaker 3: MVP of the Pacific Coast League last year. I mean
- 8:36Speaker 3: I think it was a batting title. He hit like
- 8:38Speaker 3: three to thirty with like thirty homers and El Paso
- 8:41Speaker 3: Chihuahua's I think he played for last year, whatever it was,
- 8:43Speaker 3: So he went down and figured something out. Listen, they
- 8:46Speaker 3: just have a good thing going right now. But you
- 8:48Speaker 3: know what sucks. They're not even in first place. They're
- 8:51Speaker 3: in second place now.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Because they're any television with the Dodgers way to rain
- 8:57Speaker 4: on their parade.
- 8:58Speaker 3: But you are exactly right.
- 9:00Speaker 4: They're still the second best team in the West, and
- 9:02Speaker 4: that's okay as long as they don't drain all their
- 9:05Speaker 4: fuel to try to catch the Dodgers. Just make the playoffs.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Many Machado, I think, is hitting like one sixty one
- 9:12Speaker 4: to eighty something like that, So he's gonna get hot.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Jake Croninworth might lose some of his playing time, like
- 9:19Speaker 4: I think, I think Ramon Leroano's gonna come a little
- 9:22Speaker 4: bit down to earth, and I think cronin Worth and
- 9:25Speaker 4: Mandy Machado are both gonna step up and play better.
- 9:29Speaker 4: But the Can'tusano thing, Like, I'm really intrigued to see
- 9:33Speaker 4: how he does this year. I'm really intrigued because he's
- 9:36Speaker 4: talked about needing to change his swing and he still
- 9:38Speaker 4: has tons of movement in his swing. That is that
- 9:43Speaker 4: gonna play in the big league level? Is that gonna
- 9:45Speaker 4: play when you're only playing sporadically? Because far Mean's gonna
- 9:51Speaker 4: get a lot of the time. I'll be interested to
- 9:53Speaker 4: see anytime, anytime a guy kind of get has like
- 9:56Speaker 4: a second life to his career.
- 9:59Speaker 3: You love to see.
- 10:01Speaker 1: You're spot on with kemp Usan.
- 10:03Speaker 2: I don't know if you want awards, but three thirty
- 10:04Speaker 2: six four to forty one, five to ninety five and
- 10:06Speaker 2: one hundred five games, seventy two bucks, eighty two strikeouts
- 10:09Speaker 2: over one thousand oh ps last year. I know it's
- 10:11Speaker 2: the PCL, but still those are exceptional numbers. So yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 2: we'll see if there's consistencies there with the swing and
- 10:18Speaker 2: if it carries over. So let's finish with this AJ.
- 10:21Speaker 2: You weren't with us yesterday We talked about the report
- 10:24Speaker 2: from Ken Sharma and Mooney about Lucas Giolito getting some
- 10:29Speaker 2: interest from the Cubs and from the Padres. How bad
- 10:33Speaker 2: do you think the Padres need one more arm? And
- 10:36Speaker 2: do you think that they should aggressively pursue Giulido if
- 10:40Speaker 2: the price is right. They mentioned in the article that
- 10:42Speaker 2: they are going through the final stages of a sale process.
- 10:45Speaker 1: That is a real thing. It's not even a cheap thing.
- 10:48Speaker 2: It's just that when you're selling a team and then
- 10:50Speaker 2: all of a sudden you might sign a guy for
- 10:53Speaker 2: ten million bucks pro rated or whatever it ends up being,
- 10:56Speaker 2: it can make it a little bit tricky until that
- 10:58Speaker 2: sale process is finalized. So We don't know exactly when
- 11:03Speaker 2: that's going to be done. It should be soon, But
- 11:05Speaker 2: do you think that the Padres should be aggressively going
- 11:07Speaker 2: after Giolito and you know, try and beat out the
- 11:10Speaker 2: Cubs if it's down to those two and they both
- 11:13Speaker 2: are in a similar price range, because right now you're
- 11:15Speaker 2: looking at a rotation with King Vazquez, Bueller and Herman Marquez.
- 11:20Speaker 2: And yeah, I mean at some point you hope that
- 11:22Speaker 2: guys like Musgrove Paveta.
- 11:25Speaker 1: We don't know.
- 11:25Speaker 2: They said could be weeks, could be months for him
- 11:28Speaker 2: with the elbow strain, so they need an arm.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Yeah, why would the Padres not? It's they're not even
- 11:35Speaker 3: gonna by the time Lucas Giolito gets her, he's only
- 11:37Speaker 3: gonna be making about half because it's not going to
- 11:39Speaker 3: be Jesus even ramps it up. Now you're still looking
- 11:42Speaker 3: at maybe at least a month away, probably, I would guess.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I don't know, you know, I'm sure he's been throwing
- 11:46Speaker 3: pens or whatever simulated games, but it's not the same.
- 11:50Speaker 3: So I I think he would be a great fit
- 11:53Speaker 3: in San Diego as long as he's healthy, because he
- 11:55Speaker 3: can eat innings for him will give him quality innings.
- 11:57Speaker 3: He's from southern California, so that would be nice for him.
- 12:00Speaker 3: I think it's a great fit for and also the
- 12:02Speaker 3: Cubs too, because they already lost Horton right, they need
- 12:05Speaker 3: some help in their rotation depending on how it goes.
- 12:08Speaker 3: So I think both these teams make a ton of
- 12:10Speaker 3: sense with San Diego. If I'm San Diego and I
- 12:11Speaker 3: can get a guy like Lucas Gildo to come in
- 12:13Speaker 3: and pitch for me for four months, I definitely do
- 12:16Speaker 3: it and help me get to the postseason. Heck. Yeah.
- 12:28Speaker 2: This is for the one fan out there that wanted
- 12:30Speaker 2: us to cover the Dodgers Mets series much more than
- 12:33Speaker 2: we had already been doing. We've been talking about this
- 12:35Speaker 2: series literally every single day. This fan said, we need
- 12:38Speaker 2: to talk more about the Dodgers are doing and less
- 12:40Speaker 2: about what the Mets are doing, and not show the
- 12:42Speaker 2: Mets ownership tweets. So we're still going to show the
- 12:45Speaker 2: Mets tweets from their owners because that's pretty rare, and
- 12:47Speaker 2: we're going to talk to Jim Jukeat about the Mets,
- 12:49Speaker 2: but we're going to start here aj with the Dodgers
- 12:51Speaker 2: and some uniqueness here. A couple of unique points to
- 12:54Speaker 2: get your thoughts on Number one show. Heyo Tani got
- 12:56Speaker 2: hit by a pitch the other day near your shoulder,
- 12:58Speaker 2: so they were like, you know what, let's just have
- 12:59Speaker 2: you pitch and not hit for a game. It hadn't
- 13:02Speaker 2: happened in about five years. He shoved his ra's five
- 13:05Speaker 2: to Ozho after three starts, and he's getting support from
- 13:09Speaker 2: role players that I think are making a big difference
- 13:11Speaker 2: with the Dodgers this year. The bottom of their lineup
- 13:13Speaker 2: is absolutely torching people. And also you rarely get to
- 13:16Speaker 2: see anybody DH besides Otani, Dalton rushing of course DHS
- 13:20Speaker 2: and hits a freaking Grand Slam. We won't get to
- 13:23Speaker 2: the Lindor error that happened there or the misty I
- 13:25Speaker 2: don't even know what they charge him an error, but
- 13:27Speaker 2: the mistake he made again. We'll do that later. But
- 13:29Speaker 2: your thoughts on the Dodgers right now?
- 13:31Speaker 3: They're good. They're number one of my power rankings still, Scott,
- 13:34Speaker 3: they're number one of my power rankings. They're good. And
- 13:38Speaker 3: by the way, so I played my name drop here.
- 13:41Speaker 3: I played golf last couple of days with Andrew Jones,
- 13:44Speaker 3: new Hall of Famer, and uh, he said something funny,
- 13:48Speaker 3: and I hadn't really thought about it. One thing the
- 13:50Speaker 3: Dodgers do. Have you noticed show Hay gets matched up
- 13:52Speaker 3: with when he pitches, how they don't ever match They
- 13:55Speaker 3: don't ever It's not show hay Ver's trek Schooble. It'll
- 13:57Speaker 3: be show Hay versus the fourth or the fifth starter.
- 14:01Speaker 3: And He's like, show Hey wants to win a cy Young.
- 14:04Speaker 3: And if they keep continuing to match him up, and
- 14:06Speaker 3: let's not forget, like Joe Madden has told us, show
- 14:09Speaker 3: Hey pretty much makes his own schedule. So if he
- 14:12Speaker 3: can keep getting matched up with the right teams and
- 14:14Speaker 3: pitching the way he's pitching, there might be a good
- 14:18Speaker 3: chance for him to win a cy Young in an
- 14:20Speaker 3: MVP this year. I'm just saying he can do he can.
- 14:22Speaker 3: If anyone can do both, he can do it. So
- 14:24Speaker 3: I think that the Dodgers are just really good. I mean,
- 14:27Speaker 3: Dalton Rushing would be a starter on twenty nine other
- 14:29Speaker 3: teams almost, you know, not twenty nine, but a lot
- 14:32Speaker 3: of other teams in Major League Baseball. But here he
- 14:34Speaker 3: is stuck behind Will Smith, one of the best catchers,
- 14:36Speaker 3: and Dalton Rushing is off to an unbelievable start. So
- 14:39Speaker 3: I just think the Dodgers build depth better than anybody.
- 14:42Speaker 3: They find players better than anyone, and they use their players.
- 14:44Speaker 3: They deploy him better than anyone, and that's why they
- 14:46Speaker 3: won back to back world series.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Hold up, Kratz, do you believe that conspiracy theory because
- 14:51Speaker 2: I think they're trying to slow play it with Otani
- 14:54Speaker 2: and do writers even give a crap about wins wins?
- 15:00Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know.
- 15:04Speaker 4: Look, I definitely, I definitely am going to pay attention now.
- 15:10Speaker 4: I definitely because Andrew Jones put that out on the
- 15:14Speaker 4: interweb with through AJ Prazinski. I am definitely going to
- 15:19Speaker 4: be watching for this now. I want to see because
- 15:21Speaker 4: there have been pitchers that I played with that would
- 15:24Speaker 4: duck certain teams. I'm not saying show hey's doing that,
- 15:28Speaker 4: AJ and Andrew Jones, the two ajs said that, But
- 15:31Speaker 4: I have seen it before and pretty notable names sometimes too.
- 15:39Speaker 1: How do they duck? They talked to their coaching staff and.
- 15:44Speaker 4: I'll pitch on short rest. Wow, that's unbelievable story in
- 15:49Speaker 4: the media. This guy's pitching on short rest. Oh wait,
- 15:52Speaker 4: he's ducking a Baltimore Orioles lineup. That absolutely raked at
- 15:57Speaker 4: the time. Ooh, I'm not feeling it. I just need
- 16:01Speaker 4: one extra day. Ooh, duck. The Yankees lineup that was
- 16:06Speaker 4: killing it at the time. I've seen it. Maybe AJ
- 16:09Speaker 4: doesn't agree with me. I have seen it, and the
- 16:12Speaker 4: fact that it's been brought up, it's something I never
- 16:14Speaker 4: thought about.
- 16:15Speaker 3: But I'll be watching the rest of the time.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I will say this, I do not believe they on
- 16:21Speaker 2: the facing the lower end starters AJ. I can see
- 16:24Speaker 2: it on the scheduling, although I don't see it for Otani.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I mean he's faced the Mets, Blue Jays and Guardians.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I mean those are pretty good teams.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just I just I didn't say it. I'm
- 16:35Speaker 3: just saying I know this show hey, and I'm not
- 16:37Speaker 3: accusing sho Hey of this at all, and neither was Andrew.
- 16:39Speaker 3: He was just saying that the three times he's pitched,
- 16:42Speaker 3: and he's been really good. Let's not forget that. I mean,
- 16:45Speaker 3: the Blue Jays aren't swinging it very well, the Guardians
- 16:47Speaker 3: aren't known for their offense, and then the Mets are
- 16:49Speaker 3: right now, the Mets are metic. I don't know what
- 16:51Speaker 3: else I can say about. The Mets are just not
- 16:53Speaker 3: very good right now.
- 16:54Speaker 4: So I don't know.
- 16:55Speaker 3: It was just an interesting thought. I'm just don't want
- 16:57Speaker 3: to thought out there. I'm not going out saying it's
- 16:59Speaker 3: true or this, but it was an interesting thought because yes,
- 17:01Speaker 3: a crowd. So I have seen guys duck, certain teams
- 17:04Speaker 3: that rake certain guys and eight pictures. I don't know
- 17:09Speaker 3: I've seen it happen.
- 17:13Speaker 2: I'm just saying this is going to get posted as
- 17:15Speaker 2: its own video. And you just might want to clarify
- 17:18Speaker 2: if you stand on the line of any conspiracy theory
- 17:21Speaker 2: with scheduling with this particular pitcher or people, or you're
- 17:24Speaker 2: just informing us that other pitchers have done this in
- 17:27Speaker 2: the past. I just want to put that out there
- 17:29Speaker 2: for you guys to say, yes, I believe any conspiracy
- 17:32Speaker 2: theory with our tiny scheduling or not. I personally don't,
- 17:35Speaker 2: and I love a good conspiracy theory. I think they're
- 17:38Speaker 2: trying to pitch him like every week, sometimes even a
- 17:40Speaker 2: little bit more than a week. You'll see in between starts.
- 17:42Speaker 2: So he's only up to three. He's got a five
- 17:45Speaker 2: oera eighteen innings. He finally gave up enter and run
- 17:48Speaker 2: in this one. He's striking out the world with the
- 17:50Speaker 2: fastball touch in one hundred and got the curve down
- 17:53Speaker 2: in the low seventies. He's just he was establishing the
- 17:56Speaker 2: fastball early and then unleashed the entire arsenal throughout the
- 18:00Speaker 2: to the performance and six innings against the Mets. But
- 18:03Speaker 2: I think the biggest thing with the Dodgers will just
- 18:05Speaker 2: be the TLC that they give him and a little
- 18:07Speaker 2: bit of a battle at some point later in the
- 18:09Speaker 2: season if these numbers keep up. Because Otani does love
- 18:13Speaker 2: individual accomplishments as well, and he's going to want to
- 18:17Speaker 2: win a Cy Young Award. I think that is a
- 18:18Speaker 2: significant bucket list item, and I think this could be
- 18:22Speaker 2: the year that he pulls it off. I don't know
- 18:23Speaker 2: if he's going to pitch for the rest of his career.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I mean, I think maybe if I had to guess,
- 18:28Speaker 2: i'd put the over under at three and a half
- 18:30Speaker 2: more years that he pitches, maybe four and a half.
- 18:32Speaker 2: But I think there'll be a point where he becomes
- 18:34Speaker 2: an outfielder late in his career. So for now, aj
- 18:37Speaker 2: this might be his best shot ever. If he's feeling
- 18:39Speaker 2: good and what's the threshold? Does he need one hundred
- 18:42Speaker 2: and fifty innings?
- 18:42Speaker 3: Whatever?
- 18:43Speaker 2: The number is so that he can win a cy
- 18:45Speaker 2: Young Award against which should be very difficult competition, including
- 18:48Speaker 2: Paul Skeens in the National League.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Yeah, and listen, we're not I'm not okay. I want
- 18:53Speaker 3: to thurify this. So have I seen pitchers do this? Yes,
- 18:56Speaker 3: I've also seen position players take days off when a
- 18:59Speaker 3: tough pitchers pitching. So let's let's I agree with Crats
- 19:01Speaker 3: on that. And as far as this thing, what I
- 19:03Speaker 3: said about Showley, it's just some some somebody said to me.
- 19:07Speaker 3: And listen, I don't know if it's true or not.
- 19:08Speaker 3: I don't even know. I know he pitched against Clay
- 19:09Speaker 3: Holmes yesterday. I don't knowho he pitched against the last
- 19:11Speaker 3: two times. But it's just something to talk about. It's
- 19:15Speaker 3: something to talk about. I'm just saying it's right or wrong.
- 19:17Speaker 3: It's not saying this or that. But I know this.
- 19:18Speaker 3: They show Hey makes his schedule.
- 19:20Speaker 4: We know this.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Joe Madden said this when he managed show Hey. That
- 19:23Speaker 3: show Hey makes his schedule, and he pitches when and
- 19:26Speaker 3: he doesn't pitch on five four days rest. He doesn't
- 19:28Speaker 3: pitch on five days rest. He pitches about once a
- 19:29Speaker 3: week or so, and he pitches when he's ready. So listen,
- 19:33Speaker 3: show he's really good. Okay, sure, okay, he can do anything.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Show Hey is dealing right now, he's feeling it. And
- 19:38Speaker 3: you know what if he wins a Siam and be
- 19:39Speaker 3: pretty dang awesome.
- 19:42Speaker 4: One sixty seven, that's how many. That's how many innings
- 19:47Speaker 4: I think he needs. In recent history, Gorban Burns won
- 19:52Speaker 4: the cy young he had one hundred and sixty seven
- 19:54Speaker 4: innings when other dudes were up in the one nineties.
- 19:57Speaker 4: I think one sixty seven gives you, gives you enough
- 20:03Speaker 4: that you know what, if he obviously if he has
- 20:05Speaker 4: a half an era, I don't think he's going to
- 20:07Speaker 4: have a half an era, but if he does have
- 20:09Speaker 4: a half era, maybe it could be a little bit lower.
- 20:12Speaker 4: But Corbyn Burns, I think the set the mark where
- 20:17Speaker 4: the least amount of innings that you can have, even
- 20:21Speaker 4: being super dominant, Like I just think that's that's the
- 20:24Speaker 4: number if you're going six, If you're going six innings
- 20:27Speaker 4: an outing and you only get twenty seven appearances, he's
- 20:34Speaker 4: a little short.
- 20:35Speaker 3: So we'll see.
- 20:39Speaker 2: And some of it depends on competition. Even if he
- 20:42Speaker 2: does hit that number, and I'm just going to use
- 20:43Speaker 2: skins as the example, Let's say Skeens gets the two
- 20:46Speaker 2: hundred innings and has a grad DRA and you know,
- 20:50Speaker 2: similar strikeout numbers, the whole deal. If someone has a
- 20:53Speaker 2: thirty forty inning advantage and a lot of similarities elsewhere,
- 20:57Speaker 2: they're going to win the battle. By the way, on
- 21:00Speaker 2: the starting pitching front. Again, just for the Dodger fans
- 21:04Speaker 2: are going to lose their mind if they only catch
- 21:05Speaker 2: the first minute of this segment. He's faced Tanner Bybee,
- 21:10Speaker 2: Dylan Cees and Clay Holmes.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Terrible. Yeah, ter.
- 21:18Speaker 4: No, I hadn't even looked.
- 21:20Speaker 3: I hadn't even listened to.
- 21:21Speaker 1: The stat nerd. I'm just covering us.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty good.
- 21:28Speaker 4: Here here's the other. The person who got second place
- 21:31Speaker 4: the year Burns won it.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Was Zach Wheeler.
- 21:35Speaker 4: He went three complete games, two complete game shutouts. He
- 21:39Speaker 4: had almost fifty more innings, and he had thirteen more
- 21:44Speaker 4: strikeouts than Corbyn Burns, and Corbyn Burns still won the
- 21:49Speaker 4: cy Young, So you're talking about quite a bit different.
- 21:53Speaker 4: In the innings and games started. Burns he had twenty eight,
- 21:57Speaker 4: Wheeler made all thirty two of his. So it's possible.
- 22:02Speaker 4: It's possible, But show got gotta get it going for
- 22:05Speaker 4: I mean, he's gotta get going in the sense of
- 22:07Speaker 4: like that, making enough starts, getting enough innings to make
- 22:12Speaker 4: the writers say, Okay, he was better than everybody.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Else right right now, he's at eighteen innings won and run,
- 22:19Speaker 2: seven walks, six strikeout or eighteen strikeouts six walks. One
- 22:23Speaker 2: other component here that I tease and I want to
- 22:26Speaker 2: make sure we get to So Dave Roberts at the
- 22:29Speaker 2: beginning of the year is the best team that he's
- 22:31Speaker 2: ever managed in terms of what it looks like to him.
- 22:33Speaker 2: This was coming out of spring training, so he said
- 22:35Speaker 2: this at the beginning of the season, and they.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Are off to a fourteen and four start. It is
- 22:40Speaker 1: the best.
- 22:41Speaker 2: I think it was tied for the best eighteen game
- 22:44Speaker 2: start that a team has had as a defending champ. Again,
- 22:48Speaker 2: we're super early into the season, but it's better to
- 22:50Speaker 2: start fourteen and four than nine to nine. And this
- 22:54Speaker 2: stat from Alden Goazalez stood out, as we've seen guys
- 22:58Speaker 2: like Kim Shine Yeah yesterday, Pieze is on fire.
- 23:02Speaker 1: We might cover him later in the show with a
- 23:04Speaker 1: different segment, but.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Bottom of their lineup ops nine to thirty five, nine
- 23:10Speaker 2: to thirty five, that's a one hundred and thirty point
- 23:13Speaker 2: lead over the second best team in that category, bottom
- 23:17Speaker 2: three hitters in their lineup and what they're doing on
- 23:20Speaker 2: a nightly basis. In other words, the seven eight nine
- 23:22Speaker 2: hitters have basically been Juan Soto ops from twenty twenty
- 23:27Speaker 2: three to twenty twenty five. That ops number is nine
- 23:30Speaker 2: forty six. Alden said, it's early, but still, duh, that
- 23:36Speaker 2: is wild. That is really impressive for the first few
- 23:40Speaker 2: weeks of the season. And if that ends up being
- 23:42Speaker 2: the case, Kratz, I mean, this team is more dangerous
- 23:45Speaker 2: than ever on offense. Hey, remember the World Series last year.
- 23:49Speaker 2: There were some times early on in the series where
- 23:51Speaker 2: we're like the Dodger's okay on offense? Is there enough
- 23:54Speaker 2: firepower here? I know we have a long way to
- 23:56Speaker 2: go between now in October, but this does look like
- 24:00Speaker 2: a more complete team on offense.
- 24:04Speaker 4: Uh yeah, I would say so. These guys are gonna
- 24:06Speaker 4: come down to earth. Dalton Rushing is not gonna hit.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Let's see what is he hitting? Five twenty nine? Just
- 24:12Speaker 4: just a news flash, Pajes isn't gonna hit. Based on
- 24:15Speaker 4: what I saw in the postseason, He's not gonna hit
- 24:17Speaker 4: four oh nine, but doesn't mean those guys can't have
- 24:19Speaker 4: great years. Doesn't mean Miguel Rojas in his last year
- 24:23Speaker 4: can't hit close to two eighty. But it also means
- 24:26Speaker 4: Mookie Betts when he comes back, isn't gonna be hitting
- 24:28Speaker 4: one eighty. Freddy Freeman, because he said he wants to,
- 24:32Speaker 4: he will hit above three hundred. That's just the type
- 24:34Speaker 4: of player Freddy Freeman is, so he has he's due
- 24:37Speaker 4: for a little bit of a hot streat because he's
- 24:40Speaker 4: only hitting two seventy and the best hitter in free
- 24:44Speaker 4: agency this offseason is hitting two twenty two forty with
- 24:50Speaker 4: a below seven hundred OPS. Kyle Tucker will end the
- 24:53Speaker 4: season right around eight fifty OPS. So they're still guys
- 24:58Speaker 4: that need to get hot, and some of the these
- 25:00Speaker 4: guys will regress for all the haters they are like,
- 25:02Speaker 4: well they're not going to do this, that and the
- 25:04Speaker 4: other thing. Yeah, but their best players will get hot
- 25:08Speaker 4: during that time and come back to the mean of
- 25:11Speaker 4: where they are in their career. That's what's so amazing
- 25:13Speaker 4: about this team.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Incredible start.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Okay, I want to get to one other team as
- 25:19Speaker 2: we've been very National League West heavy to start and
- 25:22Speaker 2: then we'll start mixing it up later in the show.
- 25:24Speaker 2: The San Francisco Giants Harrison Bader left hamstring strain. I
- 25:29Speaker 2: just landed on the shelf too. They have not had
- 25:32Speaker 2: good outfield production. Rafaeld Evers has displayed some frustration this week,
- 25:36Speaker 2: breaking a bat and not looking himself.
- 25:40Speaker 1: They have what.
- 25:44Speaker 2: The worst record in baseball at six and twelve? This
- 25:49Speaker 2: was can be our radio station out there sarcastically with
- 25:52Speaker 2: a tweet.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Saying nothing like it.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Rock bottom nine homers, last in baseball, walk rate is last,
- 25:59Speaker 2: and five point six percent runs per game last in
- 26:03Speaker 2: baseball at a little over three stolen bases just five
- 26:07Speaker 2: last in baseball? Aja, how do you measure the National
- 26:11Speaker 2: League last? They're not good. Do you think this is
- 26:15Speaker 2: not going to be a good team?
- 26:15Speaker 1: No?
- 26:18Speaker 3: I didn't think they were gonna be that good going
- 26:19Speaker 3: into the season. Everyone was talking about them possibly making
- 26:21Speaker 3: the playoffs, and I'm like, they still don't have any offense.
- 26:25Speaker 3: They don't, they don't, they don't have offense. They don't
- 26:27Speaker 3: have I mean they change managers, yeah, but Toty boy
- 26:29Speaker 3: tellow can't he and listen, Raffie Devers, it was a
- 26:33Speaker 3: nice trade last year but when you have guys that
- 26:37Speaker 3: aren't hitting and haven't hit in their career really a
- 26:39Speaker 3: whole lot, and you play in San Francisco, I mean,
- 26:42Speaker 3: you're pitching can only do so much. The one thing
- 26:44Speaker 3: the Giants had when they were good is they had
- 26:45Speaker 3: a bunch of dudes that were clutch, and they could
- 26:47Speaker 3: string hits together, and they stole bases, they put pressure
- 26:49Speaker 3: on the other teams, and yes, they could really pitch.
- 26:51Speaker 3: But if you're not scoring runs, I'm sorry, and you
- 26:55Speaker 3: don't hit for power, you're gonna be in trouble. And
- 26:57Speaker 3: right now, that's what you see, I mean, you see
- 26:59Speaker 3: the ops about it is the home runs. Nine home
- 27:01Speaker 3: runs were almost twenty games into the season now, So
- 27:04Speaker 3: it's just they don't score runs and they don't hit.
- 27:07Speaker 3: And you know, Daniel sussk five sixty three. I mean, yeah,
- 27:10Speaker 3: it's nice and all, but they don't have This isn't
- 27:13Speaker 3: a lineup other than raffie divers with guys, and I
- 27:15Speaker 3: guess Adama should get the one. There. Guys are gonna
- 27:18Speaker 3: hit you thirty and drive in one hundred. It's a
- 27:20Speaker 3: bunch of guys that can get some hits and some singles.
- 27:23Speaker 3: But if you're not stealing bases, and you could take
- 27:25Speaker 3: three singles to score some of these guys.
- 27:28Speaker 5: Guys, you ever get it from your children all the time? Dad,
- 27:31Speaker 5: same old meal. I get it all the time from

- 28:23Speaker 2: New subscribers only varies by plan, must order the third
- 28:26Speaker 2: box by May thirty first, twenty twenty six. The one
- 28:29Speaker 2: thing I'll say though, is aj we do push teams
- 28:32Speaker 2: to acquire talent. And when you look at the Giants,
- 28:35Speaker 2: they were not doing a good job of homegrown and
- 28:38Speaker 2: you know they let far anxiety go. And you look
- 28:40Speaker 2: at the roster, I mean there's a lot of acquired
- 28:43Speaker 2: players that have good track records. Luisa Rise was signed
- 28:46Speaker 2: the Domas signing last year, the Devers trade Chapman.
- 28:51Speaker 1: These are big acquisitions.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Jung Hu Lee, who at the time was a big
- 28:56Speaker 2: acquisition too, cost a pretty penny. Then the bottom of
- 28:59Speaker 2: the lineup right now, I mean, factoring in Beader out,
- 29:01Speaker 2: you've got Will Brennan, Casey Schmidt, Drew Gilbert, Patrick Bailey.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Hopefully you know Baterer comes back fills one of those spots.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Eldridge at some point being ready. But to me, I mean,
- 29:10Speaker 2: you've got half the lineup that just is not intimidating people.
- 29:14Speaker 2: On top of that, I think some of these veterans
- 29:16Speaker 2: will find it right towards the top of the lineup
- 29:19Speaker 2: and kind of average out what they.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Want to have. Eldrid why not have Eldridge up there?
- 29:23Speaker 3: Why are we not? Why do we not have Eldridge
- 29:25Speaker 3: up there?
- 29:26Speaker 1: They don't think he's ready yet?
- 29:28Speaker 2: Okay, Instead of they'd rather have Cathy Schmid, that is
- 29:33Speaker 2: the claim right now.
- 29:35Speaker 3: Aldridge a good player, Yeah, but I mean, wouldn't you
- 29:40Speaker 3: rather have Bryce Eldridge up there? Like when you look
- 29:41Speaker 3: and see McGonagall and some of these other guys that
- 29:44Speaker 3: have been hyped up for the last few years, wouldn't
- 29:46Speaker 3: you like to have Eldridge up there? Saying what he
- 29:47Speaker 3: could do at the big league level.
- 29:49Speaker 2: I think he's right on the precipice because fifty three
- 29:53Speaker 2: at bats for Eldridge, he's three point fifty eight four
- 29:56Speaker 2: ninety three on base ops at one oh five nine,
- 29:59Speaker 2: I mean is torching the miners right now at Triple
- 30:03Speaker 2: A Sacramento. So I think, honestly, I'm with you, Aj.
- 30:07Speaker 2: They need a jolt, and they need one quickly. Things
- 30:09Speaker 2: can fall out of hand. I mean, forget the Division
- 30:12Speaker 2: six and twelve going up against fourteen and four Dodgers,
- 30:15Speaker 2: but things can get really hairy pretty quickly. And fans
- 30:17Speaker 2: were heated about Tyler Molly and not having a good start.
- 30:21Speaker 2: I know, it's early, but they didn't like that. They
- 30:22Speaker 2: didn't go after a big gun. They kind of spent
- 30:24Speaker 2: on Howser and Molly instead. Molly gave up a career
- 30:27Speaker 2: high matching eight runs. So it's not looking good right
- 30:30Speaker 2: now for San Francisco. Hey, Ja, let you take this
- 30:33Speaker 2: one while we're in the break, since we covered it yesterday.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Thoughts on Kevin McGonagall becoming the latest super rich dude,
- 30:40Speaker 2: and you know he was getting a little emotional, even
- 30:43Speaker 2: though they said, you don't see that from him often.
- 30:44Speaker 2: And then mom and dad they are talking about how
- 30:47Speaker 2: humble he is, and Dad said, I just beat him
- 30:49Speaker 2: up with baseball seven years old, taking balls off his
- 30:52Speaker 2: chest that grown ups couldn't take. So he's going to
- 30:54Speaker 2: be a tiger for a long time.
- 30:57Speaker 4: Nice.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Nice for him, And I love this how humble he is.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Great to hear from your mom, and you know, Dad's
- 31:03Speaker 3: chuck and balls like happy gilmour at him, how tough
- 31:07Speaker 3: he is. Get ready for hockey season next year, listening
- 31:10Speaker 3: happy from a goonagle man eight year was it eight years,
- 31:12Speaker 3: one hundred and fifty million or something like that. It's
- 31:14Speaker 3: weird extensions. Right after they get called up, I don't
- 31:19Speaker 3: know we had this. I guess where they were called up.
- 31:21Speaker 3: They were all, they all but it's it's awesome for
- 31:23Speaker 3: these kids. He's going to be a free agent to
- 31:25Speaker 3: get at what twenty nine or thirty years old, so
- 31:27Speaker 3: we can get another contract. So I love this. I
- 31:29Speaker 3: love the parents talking and I think it's great. He's
- 31:32Speaker 3: he's going to be a good player that you can
- 31:34Speaker 3: hit man.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got the hit tool power could develop more. Also,
- 31:40Speaker 2: I mean he's at shortstop now, but he does have
- 31:42Speaker 2: positional flexibility too, if you know, the Tigers feel like
- 31:46Speaker 2: he's at more of a second or third basement.
- 31:47Speaker 1: At some point later on he's done that.
- 31:49Speaker 2: So it puts them in a good spot where if
- 31:52Speaker 2: there's some marquee shortstop available at some point.
- 31:56Speaker 4: And he's paying for dinner this weekend to trek. Scogle
- 31:59Speaker 4: and the Balls were at the at the press conference
- 32:02Speaker 4: and Scoobale asked the question. He was like, Hey, the
- 32:06Speaker 4: boy's going to get a dinner, So maybe it's more
- 32:09Speaker 4: like one hundred and forty nine million.
- 32:11Speaker 3: After the boys are gone to dinner.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Oh they're getting bottle service. Huh, Hey, we're back. We'll
- 32:19Speaker 2: get to this here in Ken's Notes column that just
- 32:22Speaker 2: came out today. He said, one National League general manager
- 32:25Speaker 2: granted an amenity, Did I say that right? An and
- 32:31Speaker 2: any anonymity anonymity for his candor recently offered this bold
- 32:38Speaker 2: prediction the A's will win the Al West aj and
- 32:42Speaker 2: he points to how the pitching go up to a
- 32:44Speaker 2: nice start. I'm sure that's going to level down a
- 32:46Speaker 2: little bit. But the hitting it's just been okay. And
- 32:50Speaker 2: when you look on paper at the young talent, they're
- 32:54Speaker 2: gonna hit.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Yeah. Oh, they're definitely gonna hit, especially in that ballpark.
- 32:58Speaker 3: I mean that ballpark is made for that. I mean, uh,
- 33:01Speaker 3: they're gonna hit. And if they can get Severarino figured
- 33:03Speaker 3: out some of these other guys, you know they have
- 33:05Speaker 3: a chance. Listen. They were my sleeper pick and my
- 33:07Speaker 3: guaranteed lockover the wins last year, and I think they're
- 33:10Speaker 3: gonna be good again better. I think they're gonna be
- 33:12Speaker 3: even better this year because you get another year of
- 33:14Speaker 3: Nick Kirk, you get another year of Jacob Wilson, you
- 33:16Speaker 3: get another year of Shae Langleys, who, by the way,
- 33:18Speaker 3: is off to an unbelievably good start. So I think
- 33:22Speaker 3: that this team has a lot of potential, and I
- 33:24Speaker 3: think that they're going to continue to get better. Now
- 33:25Speaker 3: a lot of teams people don't know about them because
- 33:27Speaker 3: they're not in a lot of national broadcasts. They play
- 33:29Speaker 3: in Sacramento. They're still the A's and this and that.
- 33:31Speaker 3: But they're doing extensions. They have Rooker, they have all
- 33:34Speaker 3: these guys. They have a good thing going out there
- 33:36Speaker 3: in Sacramento. And yeah, I don't know if they can
- 33:38Speaker 3: win this division, but I think they can definitely contend
- 33:40Speaker 3: for a playoff spot and hanging around five hundred maybe
- 33:43Speaker 3: if they make the right moves get in, Yeah, why not?
- 33:47Speaker 3: Why not?
- 33:47Speaker 4: If they have the if they have the lineup, And
- 33:50Speaker 4: I say, you don't even like at the All Star
- 33:52Speaker 4: I mean at the trade deadline, if they're around, if
- 33:56Speaker 4: they're in the area, you also are not, Like you
- 33:59Speaker 4: don't have to go up the farm to acquire people
- 34:02Speaker 4: at the trade deadline.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Like that's not what's going on.
- 34:05Speaker 4: I think they're gonna come up a little short because
- 34:08Speaker 4: of the fact that they're starting. Pitching is gonna is
- 34:12Speaker 4: gonna be asked to do more because they got rid
- 34:15Speaker 4: of some of their bullpen guys last year. I think
- 34:17Speaker 4: it's something that you're gonna need to see consistency out
- 34:21Speaker 4: of that rotation every five days, giving you six innings,
- 34:25Speaker 4: and we're not seeing that yet. And the offense can
- 34:28Speaker 4: only do so much to me out there in Sacramento.
- 34:32Speaker 4: It's about innings because you're gonna have some slugfests, and
- 34:36Speaker 4: if you're not giving your team innings. It's okay if
- 34:39Speaker 4: you have a four or five ERA, but you got
- 34:42Speaker 4: to rack up the innings and make sure that bullpen
- 34:44Speaker 4: doesn't get exhausted after sitting out in that heat for
- 34:48Speaker 4: eighty one of your home games.
- 34:50Speaker 1: It's crazy. We just showed the standings.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Everybody's basically the same, like two games up or two
- 34:55Speaker 2: games down. You know, good parody start to the year.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Hey well, throwing some injury news during the breaks like
- 35:05Speaker 2: we do. Porter Hodge down for the rest of the season.
- 35:09Speaker 2: That's a good arm, but he's down for the Cubs
- 35:13Speaker 2: ucl surgery. That's the tweet from sideline reporter Taylor McGregor.
- 35:18Speaker 2: A j It's not just the starting pitching that's out
- 35:21Speaker 2: for this team. I think Boyd's coming back soon.
- 35:23Speaker 1: We know that.
- 35:24Speaker 2: You know, at some point Justin Still will come back.
- 35:26Speaker 2: And who just went down to Kate Horton for the year.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Hunter Harvey is hurt and philm Aiton is hurt. So
- 35:35Speaker 2: they're getting a lot on the arm injury front here.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Yeah, they're getting hit hard right now. That's why the
- 35:42Speaker 3: the other teams in that division need to take advantage
- 35:44Speaker 3: of this that they can, because the Cubs were the
- 35:46Speaker 3: kind of the pick to win this division, but the
- 35:47Speaker 3: other the other teams needed to put together who's going
- 35:50Speaker 3: to be the team that steps up with the Cubs are. Man,
- 35:52Speaker 3: they are banged up on the pitching front, but they
- 35:54Speaker 3: still have good depth though. I mean, look good, you know,
- 35:57Speaker 3: tie On. It's not like they don't have guys. They
- 35:59Speaker 3: still have guys. They are big league pitchers. And I
- 36:02Speaker 3: think teams kind of learned from the Dodgers and learn
- 36:04Speaker 3: from the Blue j Z. You have to have seven
- 36:06Speaker 3: to ten quality starting starters in your organization to make
- 36:10Speaker 3: it through the year with the way guys go down now.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Oh and Monaga was awesome.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Twenty six swinging strikes, most in an MLB game so
- 36:16Speaker 2: far this year. Yesterday, he's his strikeout percentage of big
- 36:19Speaker 2: He's got thirty k's and twenty two innings, and they
- 36:22Speaker 2: pummeled Lozardo and the Phillies yesterday. Their offense should be
- 36:26Speaker 2: pretty good and deeper this year. They've got a deeper bench.
- 36:30Speaker 2: I like the team on that front. I just think
- 36:32Speaker 2: they'll after Whether the Storm was pitching.
- 36:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean obviously, yeah, definitely. I mean watching him
- 36:38Speaker 3: and Naga, you know he was. It was.
- 36:41Speaker 4: Everyone says he can't be a two pitch pitcher. He
- 36:44Speaker 4: was a two pitch pitcher to right eyes and a
- 36:47Speaker 4: two pitch pitcher to lefties. But it was two completely
- 36:49Speaker 4: different pitches to both like it was.
- 36:52Speaker 3: It was.
- 36:53Speaker 4: It was impressive last night watching watching the first six
- 36:56Speaker 4: innings of that game. It was that was a clinic
- 36:59Speaker 4: of him being able to have that low release angle,
- 37:03Speaker 4: late life fastball that we saw his rookie year. That
- 37:07Speaker 4: was baffling.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Guys, hear you, hear somebody.
- 37:11Speaker 4: Maybe he's healthy. Maybe he came back from the IL
- 37:14Speaker 4: state last year and started giving up the leagues or
- 37:17Speaker 4: the NL at least most home runs. From the time
- 37:20Speaker 4: he came off the IL till the end of the season.
- 37:23Speaker 4: Everyone's like, he's broken, don't offer him a qualifying offer.
- 37:27Speaker 4: Blah blah blah.
- 37:30Speaker 1: That's right.
- 37:31Speaker 2: I think the league miscalculated on that one sayas Uzuki
- 37:34Speaker 2: recently back, I like the rookie ballasteros at DH.
- 37:38Speaker 1: It's a pretty good team.
- 37:43Speaker 2: Let's start with Corey Seeger during the commercial break here
- 37:47Speaker 2: while we have two minutes in This tweet from our
- 37:50Speaker 2: friend one of the league leaders in appearances on FT,
- 37:53Speaker 2: Evan Grant, who covers the Rangers. He said Seeger ended
- 37:56Speaker 2: last night in a two for twenty four slump. After
- 37:59Speaker 2: the game, he saw Andy Jansen fiddling with some bats,
- 38:02Speaker 2: attaching electrodes from muscle stem therapy machine to them, bundled
- 38:06Speaker 2: up nicely placed in Seeger's locker, and attempt to jolt
- 38:10Speaker 2: his bats and to lighten the mood.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Apparently it worked.
- 38:16Speaker 4: It did.
- 38:17Speaker 3: This is what you do in the long season. There
- 38:18Speaker 3: are things that happened inside. Now they're not always seen
- 38:21Speaker 3: by everybody, but there are things where people do things
- 38:24Speaker 3: and you try to lighten up the mood. You try
- 38:26Speaker 3: to get guys going, You try to, you know, make
- 38:28Speaker 3: them laugh, motivate them a little bit. And this is
- 38:30Speaker 3: a good move by by Danny Jansen. I like this move.
- 38:33Speaker 3: I love this movie. We had guys that would take
- 38:34Speaker 3: bat's home. Sleep of them. Guys would put their bats
- 38:37Speaker 3: in the corner. They were acting bad and there was
- 38:39Speaker 3: all kinds of crazy stuff you would do with your bats.
- 38:41Speaker 3: I mean, it's just to try to if you listen
- 38:43Speaker 3: as a hitter, if you're struggling, you'll do anything.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Yeah, add a little performance enhancement, legal performance enhancement to
- 38:53Speaker 2: your bat. There's some things you can do. There's some
- 38:55Speaker 2: things you can't do. I don't think it's in the
- 38:57Speaker 2: rule book that you can't attach electro.
- 39:01Speaker 1: To your pat.
- 39:03Speaker 4: You can.
- 39:03Speaker 3: It's funny too, and it makes for a great story,
- 39:06Speaker 3: it does.
- 39:06Speaker 1: So we like that stuff. We like to mix it in.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Corner.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Some quick hitters here.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Let's start with the padre clle process nearing a conclusion.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Dennis Linn the athletic others putting out what's going on here,
- 39:19Speaker 2: and it sounds like they're close to the finish line
- 39:21Speaker 2: aj and early next week. The bidders we've already talked
- 39:25Speaker 2: about who's involved, including Joe Lake Up, the owner of
- 39:28Speaker 2: the Warriors. There's a soccer rich soccer dude. There's the
- 39:32Speaker 2: owner of the Pistons involved. So the team is probably
- 39:36Speaker 2: going to go for three point five ish, maybe even
- 39:39Speaker 2: more three point six billion dollars which would shatter the
- 39:42Speaker 2: record paid for the Mets, which is the record right
- 39:44Speaker 2: now in baseball two point four to two bill from
- 39:46Speaker 2: Steve Cohen. If you go off the Forbes estimate, they
- 39:49Speaker 2: were at three point one, So this is going to
- 39:51Speaker 2: go over that clearly. The market speaking, they had the
- 39:54Speaker 2: estimate fifty nine percent increase from the year before to
- 39:58Speaker 2: get to three point one. The Padres sale price has skyrocketed.
- 40:04Speaker 2: The Sidler family is going to make billions.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Yes they are listen good, this is over. We can
- 40:12Speaker 3: stop talking about I hate when we have to talk
- 40:13Speaker 3: about oh the you know. Obviously, Peter Sidler passed away
- 40:17Speaker 3: and it was sad for him and his family, but
- 40:19Speaker 3: also for Padres fans because it changed their trajectory of
- 40:21Speaker 3: their finances. And now we're going to get to this
- 40:24Speaker 3: standing and whoever gets it hopefully goes like Peter Sidler
- 40:27Speaker 3: did and puts everything in his heart and soul into
- 40:30Speaker 3: making the Padres win a World Series, which is all
- 40:32Speaker 3: Peter Sidler want, but he wasn't fortunate enough to see
- 40:35Speaker 3: it before he passed away.
- 40:38Speaker 2: The bar is high in terms of how you treat
- 40:41Speaker 2: your team. So some of the names that are listed
- 40:44Speaker 2: on there, I mean, I think fans are rooting for
- 40:46Speaker 2: Joe Lacup. He's done a nice job with the Warriors,
- 40:48Speaker 2: wouldn't you say?
- 40:50Speaker 1: Next time?
- 40:50Speaker 2: I Yeah, they've been get They're the most valuable franchise
- 40:54Speaker 2: in sports, I think right now. Next up, the MLBPA
- 40:59Speaker 2: has let go of not one but two key parts
- 41:04Speaker 2: of the operation. The COO Xavier James and the Chief
- 41:07Speaker 2: human Resources officer Michael O'Neil, both terminated with cause on Wednesday.
- 41:13Speaker 2: You know, the federal investigators are continuing the probe into
- 41:16Speaker 2: what has gone on there that included, you know, some
- 41:18Speaker 2: shady stuff with Tony Clark. We've gone over all of
- 41:21Speaker 2: the shadiness that went on there with Tony.
- 41:24Speaker 1: He's out.
- 41:25Speaker 2: So there continues to be a purge for them to
- 41:28Speaker 2: get in line for the upcoming CBA. But I mean,
- 41:31Speaker 2: it sounds like there were some shady actors involved.
- 41:36Speaker 3: They found them, and now they're getting rid of them, right,
- 41:38Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know what they did. I don't
- 41:39Speaker 3: know what happened, but hey, you know what, you're about
- 41:43Speaker 3: to go into collective collective bargaining and it's about to
- 41:45Speaker 3: you could get ugly. You need all your ducks in
- 41:47Speaker 3: a row. If you're the PA. So they found some stuff,
- 41:49Speaker 3: they made a move. They got rid of these people
- 41:51Speaker 3: that they thought did something, you know, innocent to proven guilty.
- 41:54Speaker 3: But I mean, let's get your ducks in a row, PA,
- 41:57Speaker 3: before this this whole collective bargaining thing comes and become
- 42:01Speaker 3: something that we don't want to see it become, which
- 42:02Speaker 3: is a lockout or a strike.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 42:06Speaker 2: I mean, the people that are involved on the main
- 42:08Speaker 2: negotiations are still there. From a legal perspective, these are
- 42:12Speaker 2: some of the people I think making this.
- 42:13Speaker 3: But you don't have distraction, you don't have distractions. You
- 42:16Speaker 3: don't have distractions.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Scott, Oh, no doubt.
- 42:17Speaker 3: You won't have everybody lined up together because you're about
- 42:20Speaker 3: to go into a big battle, so you've got to
- 42:22Speaker 3: have everyone lined up on the same page.
- 42:24Speaker 2: Yes, And that's why I mean they went into an investigation.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Players hired outside counselor and they were like, hey, find
- 42:30Speaker 2: out what's going on here and get rid of the
- 42:31Speaker 2: bad actors. So they're doing that. That's what you're seeing.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Those are the stories coming out. They didn't give us
- 42:35Speaker 2: any details on what they actually did, but maybe someone
- 42:38Speaker 2: will investigate that and we'll do a segment on it.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Let's lap, don't leave it. If you're online, we still
- 42:52Speaker 2: have five minutes left. We're going to go overtime online
- 42:55Speaker 2: on TV Sam Antanachi. Before his interview session started pregame,
- 43:01Speaker 2: each reporter wanted to identify themselves.
- 43:04Speaker 1: I mean he asked them to.
- 43:05Speaker 2: I'm not I'm butchering this, but he just wanted everyone's
- 43:07Speaker 2: name so you could get to know people at the
- 43:09Speaker 2: big league level. Very classy tweet from Scott Merken that
- 43:12Speaker 2: was stated more eloquently than I just said it.
- 43:14Speaker 3: But that's cool.
- 43:15Speaker 1: AJ, Yeah, it's cool.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Some cool some to stand out to the reporters, try
- 43:19Speaker 3: to get on their good side. You always got to
- 43:21Speaker 3: kiss up sometimes with the reporters, so it's nice for
- 43:22Speaker 3: them to know that you care and you think that
- 43:25Speaker 3: you know they're important.
- 43:27Speaker 2: You had him and now you know Schultz from the
- 43:30Speaker 2: other day who got blitz in the first inning by
- 43:32Speaker 2: the raised bunting attack the razor trying to find advantages
- 43:37Speaker 2: because so many teams have caught up to the advantages
- 43:39Speaker 2: that they had, so now they're like bunting, Yes.
- 43:44Speaker 3: Whatever it takes, man, the Rais will do it. Raises
- 43:45Speaker 3: aren't afraid to try stuff. So listen, you got Chandler
- 43:48Speaker 3: Simpsons top your order, you should run a lot mm hmm.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Real quick, I want to point this out while we're
- 43:53Speaker 2: doing some overtime leading up to Dodger's territory. Look at
- 43:55Speaker 2: inside edge notes. I mean, they are the best in
- 43:58Speaker 2: the biz at getting those unique stats. So you're going
- 44:00Speaker 2: to see those notes on the bottom line here, the
- 44:03Speaker 2: foul line that we call it Sal Stewart seven thirty
- 44:07Speaker 2: three slugging on pitches outside of the zone best in
- 44:11Speaker 2: baseball five or eleven obp for Brendan Donovan against Wrighty's
- 44:15Speaker 2: the whole deal there. So you're going to see some
- 44:18Speaker 2: of those keynotes. If you thought you already had trouble
- 44:22Speaker 2: paying attention, now you get really good notes at the
- 44:24Speaker 2: bottom of your screen. And then the more classic leader
- 44:26Speaker 2: boards like Jordan Walker and the big home run leaders
- 44:31Speaker 2: in baseball. One other note here while we have two minutes,
- 44:34Speaker 2: Garrett Cole is working his way back aj So the
- 44:38Speaker 2: Yankees are going to see him on Friday, starting in
- 44:43Speaker 2: double A for Somerset. Anthony Volpi's there too, so get
- 44:47Speaker 2: a good look at some Yankees.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Yeah in Somerset, get your tickets, sell tickets fast, Derek
- 44:52Speaker 3: going Fast got. I mean, Gary Cole is some that
- 44:55Speaker 3: I think is a big deal for the Yankees. I
- 44:57Speaker 3: think Gary Cole is a very important piece for them
- 44:59Speaker 3: if he comes back and it's healthy.
- 45:02Speaker 2: I bet you that if it's not sold out already,
- 45:04Speaker 2: it will. I mean, I'm biased to about the Patriots,
- 45:07Speaker 2: Somerset Patriots since I worked for them back in the day,
- 45:11Speaker 2: but usually when they announce something like that, the game
- 45:16Speaker 2: will sell out. When you're in the obviously you're still
- 45:19Speaker 2: in the New York market, TV market right in Jersey
- 45:23Speaker 2: and a very crowded state, so people will show up
- 45:27Speaker 2: to that one. There's a lot of people in Jersey
- 45:28Speaker 2: that don't want to make the hike to the Bronx
- 45:30Speaker 2: all the time. They won't go to as many Yankee games,
- 45:32Speaker 2: but they'll hit these Summerset Patriot games to see Yankees.
- 45:35Speaker 3: Like Colon just helps these teams, just helps these minor
- 45:38Speaker 3: league teams, and these guys come on reheb because it
- 45:40Speaker 3: does sell out and it gets nice crowds. And it
- 45:43Speaker 3: also helps the minor league guys because they get to
- 45:45Speaker 3: see how Garrett Cole and Anthony Volpi, who are established
- 45:47Speaker 3: big leaders, go about their business. I think this rehab
- 45:50Speaker 3: is an important part of the game.
- 45:52Speaker 1: Oh.
- 45:53Speaker 2: I love when the guys show up for a few
- 45:55Speaker 2: days and hear about what they either gift or buy
- 45:58Speaker 2: for dinner. All that stuff is really cool and it's
- 46:01Speaker 2: it's a nice emotional boost and confidence boost for minor
- 46:05Speaker 2: leaguers to spend some time with a superstar, especially.
- 46:08Speaker 3: If you get a hit off of them and you're
- 46:09Speaker 3: in the minor league. You're like, I can't hit a big.
- 46:11Speaker 2: Leaguer, right if you never make it, But then you
- 46:14Speaker 2: get one of those that could be your moment where
- 46:15Speaker 2: you can always tell someone in your next job. Oh
- 46:17Speaker 2: I took gart cold deep in the minors.
- 46:20Speaker 3: No big deal, Yeah, exactly.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 46:22Speaker 3: But although, like when I was at the Twins, there
- 46:25Speaker 3: was a guy who hit a homer off Pedro in
- 46:27Speaker 3: a minor league game. We got released the next day,
- 46:29Speaker 3: so that didn't go so good.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Wow. I mean that's a tough, tough crowd there. Good
- 46:35Speaker 2: way to go out, tough league.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Yeah, quarter spring league.
- 46:42Speaker 2: See everyone tomorrow, see AJ on Monday. Reminder to everyone
