- 0:11Speaker 1: They did it.
- 0:12Speaker 2: The Milwaukee Brewers are 2026 World Series champions for the
- 0:18Speaker 2: first time ever. They freaking did it. They were the
- 0:21Speaker 2: best team in baseball. No doubt about it. Scotty Braun,
- 0:27Speaker 2: Todd Frazier, Eric Kratz, who is a former brewer. When
- 0:30Speaker 2: they won the NLCS, they had a bottle of champagne
- 0:33Speaker 2: with Kratz's name on it.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Kratz, do you have some feels right now?
- 0:36Speaker 2: Like, do you get Emotional seeing what you just saw,
- 0:39Speaker 2: spending some good time out there, and having some really
- 0:42Speaker 2: good memories and connections with the fans.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Oh, man. You feel for the fans. I watched the
- 0:49Speaker 1: World Series. I watched playoffs for the reaction of the fans.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I love when they have the side shot and you
- 0:55Speaker 1: see all the fans get crazy when it's a home run.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I can't wait to see all the videos tomorrow of
- 1:01Speaker 1: people crying, people in the stands in Tampa, people in
- 1:05Speaker 1: the stands at American... financial field. I just, I love
- 1:11Speaker 1: it for the fans. It's such an awesome thing for
- 1:13Speaker 1: my ex teammates, Yelly, big woo, Jason Lane, hooky, Pat Murphy, everybody. Agreed.
- 1:24Speaker 4: This is a, it's, it's amazing. Honestly. I mean, you
- 1:28Speaker 4: think about Pat Murphy and his upbringing, how he started
- 1:31Speaker 4: with his child and it turned into a man and
- 1:34Speaker 4: had to be this guy that love for everybody and
- 1:38Speaker 4: you know he started in college Arizona State and made
- 1:41Speaker 4: his way up I mean truly remarkable story from management
- 1:45Speaker 4: side and then truly remarkable story for this team who
- 1:47Speaker 4: always found a way to get in the playoffs and
- 1:50Speaker 4: never found a way to win a World Series and
- 1:53Speaker 4: they cruised they absolutely cruised through this and with a
- 1:56Speaker 4: bunch of guys that not many people know about and
- 1:59Speaker 4: they are known about right now it's fantastic it's great
- 2:02Speaker 4: for baseball and man they played the game the right way.
- 2:07Speaker 4: They nickel and dime, little things here and there, get
- 2:10Speaker 4: the guy over, bunt him over, slap the ball the
- 2:13Speaker 4: other way, make the dive and catches, find a way
- 2:16Speaker 4: to get the extra base, and that's Milwaukee baseball. Now
- 2:20Speaker 4: Pat Murphy, I think he can shake everybody's hands now
- 2:24Speaker 4: moving forward.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you're talking about when they do the introductions
- 2:29Speaker 2: before each series starts or when they go to whatever
- 2:33Speaker 2: park it is.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Cause they do them twice, right? Each series. And Pat's like, nah,
- 2:36Speaker 3: no handshakes.
- 2:37Speaker 2: He's a unique cat and he's a winner.
- 2:40Speaker 3: He is a winner.
- 2:41Speaker 2: So as Matt Arnold, who runs the front office there, well,
- 2:43Speaker 2: let's get into this game first and we can get
- 2:45Speaker 2: back to the Brewers organization talk.
- 2:48Speaker 3: So let's hit it. Full count fueled by marathon. Crats.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Can we start with Ms.
- 3:00Speaker 2: So you talked about, and you've done this multiple times,
- 3:03Speaker 2: how the ball comes out of the hands differently for
- 3:06Speaker 2: many pitchers down in the trop. Did you feel that
- 3:09Speaker 2: way with the Miz? The fastball was buzzing. He didn't
- 3:11Speaker 2: even need anything else most of the time. And he
- 3:14Speaker 2: wasn't a strikeout Wiz. He was just doing what he
- 3:17Speaker 2: needed to do run prevention-wise. So what did you think
- 3:21Speaker 2: of this version of the Miz capping off an incredible
- 3:24Speaker 2: season where he did strike out the world during the
- 3:26Speaker 2: regular season and he's going to win a Cy Young?
- 3:29Speaker 1: Yes, he's going to win a Cy Young, and it's
- 3:31Speaker 1: okay to say he wasn't his regular Miz, but I
- 3:36Speaker 1: think he grew in this game, and he was a really,
- 3:39Speaker 1: really good Miz against a team who just says, we're
- 3:43Speaker 1: not going to strike out. The Rays said, we're not
- 3:45Speaker 1: going to strike out tonight. I think it was the
- 3:48Speaker 1: fourth inning, DeLuca, when he finally got his first strikeout,
- 3:51Speaker 1: but what did he get a lot of? Fly balls.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I just went to my high school... um and had
- 3:58Speaker 1: an optional practice and thrown bp and i'm like guys
- 4:01Speaker 1: if you're under the ball you're probably just a tick
- 4:04Speaker 1: late so if you're popping it up if you're hitting
- 4:07Speaker 1: fly balls when you want to be hitting line drives
- 4:09Speaker 1: you're a tick late so the ms still had him
- 4:11Speaker 1: late he was just getting they were under it every
- 4:14Speaker 1: single time and good for the ms the biggest thing
- 4:18Speaker 1: here is the walks. He had one walk. He's not
- 4:22Speaker 1: getting punch outs. Most pitchers go, okay, I'm going to expand.
- 4:25Speaker 1: He didn't do that. Good for him.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Yeah, and he had something funky going on with the mound.
- 4:31Speaker 4: That's like the second day now with the dirt. It
- 4:35Speaker 4: seemed like his foot was moving. I mean, listen, no
- 4:38Speaker 4: wonder why his calf or whatever was bothering him during
- 4:41Speaker 4: the game there. I mean, everything was getting overstretched, and
- 4:44Speaker 4: he's still throwing over 100 miles an hour. Weird feeling.
- 4:47Speaker 4: It's got to be on the mound. Never had that
- 4:49Speaker 4: before because I didn't throw with that much force or
- 4:51Speaker 4: throw that hard ever. But ultimately, the race ground crew,
- 4:57Speaker 4: give them credit. It's hard to do that. You might
- 5:00Speaker 4: be a little embarrassed. You might be a little like, man,
- 5:02Speaker 4: what do we got to do here for these teams?
- 5:05Speaker 4: And it is what it is.
- 5:07Speaker 1: He fought through it.
- 5:07Speaker 4: He didn't complain. He wasn't gesturing like, why does this
- 5:11Speaker 4: crap happen all the time? He just went out and pitched.
- 5:14Speaker 4: And guess what? They got the dogs in the bullpen
- 5:16Speaker 4: to come in as much as they want to miss
- 5:19Speaker 4: to keep throwing. Ultimately, they took a precaution there and
- 5:23Speaker 4: they still didn't give up a run until last, you know,
- 5:27Speaker 4: out in the game. Give Chandler Simpson props. The guy
- 5:30Speaker 4: never stopped playing. This dude is going to be a
- 5:33Speaker 4: star moving forward. Fun to watch him play, but just
- 5:37Speaker 4: a little too late.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and.
- 5:41Speaker 2: First of all, we've talked about the mound for Miz
- 5:43Speaker 2: all year, and Kratz was even foreshadowing that it was
- 5:47Speaker 2: going to be talked about quite a bit when he
- 5:49Speaker 2: was on the road. In Milwaukee, they can take even
- 5:51Speaker 2: more care of him, but it still worked out.
- 5:53Speaker 3: It doesn't matter.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Five and two-thirds shutout innings, like Kratz mentioned. One walk,
- 5:57Speaker 2: two strikeouts on 86 pitches. Did have to leave the
- 6:01Speaker 2: game a little bit sooner than he wanted. Maybe one
- 6:04Speaker 2: out sooner, right? Likely was going to go six and
- 6:07Speaker 2: then put a lid on it and head.
- 6:09Speaker 3: To the bullpen.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:11Speaker 2: This is all you can get and more also over
- 6:13Speaker 2: 50 innings more than the prior season, right? In a
- 6:16Speaker 2: game that is so concerned about innings and pitch count
- 6:21Speaker 2: and all of that. I mean, he soared past what
- 6:23Speaker 2: he did the year before and he looked pretty good.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Is it perfect when you're in October? Is it perfect
- 6:28Speaker 2: when you're in October for almost anyone?
- 6:29Speaker 1: No.
- 6:30Speaker 2: And Tom Verducci said on the broadcast that the zip
- 6:32Speaker 2: on the fastball crats was as good as it had
- 6:34Speaker 2: been all year and the best that it had been since,
- 6:38Speaker 2: He gave some date in July. I'm assuming he's talking
- 6:41Speaker 2: about maybe the vert combined with the velo.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Well, I mean, like we said, it's going to pump
- 6:47Speaker 1: up in Tampa. So I don't know what metrics he's using,
- 6:51Speaker 1: so I won't even comment on that other than the
- 6:53Speaker 1: hitters will let you know, Todd. The hitters are going
- 6:56Speaker 1: to let you know. How's your stuff look? How we're
- 7:00Speaker 1: not squaring them up, coach. Ah, crap. I guess we
- 7:03Speaker 1: got to keep running them out there. And the cramping thing?
- 7:07Speaker 1: If you watch the Brewers throughout the year, about May,
- 7:10Speaker 1: he was dealing back-to-back times he had dealt with cramps,
- 7:14Speaker 1: where his actual left hand started cramping up so he
- 7:18Speaker 1: couldn't keep going. But he was like, from then on,
- 7:22Speaker 1: I talked to one of their trainers, and they were like,
- 7:24Speaker 1: he is on a strict regimen, and I never saw
- 7:27Speaker 1: it pop up again until tonight.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Yeah. Fantastic. There's not much more I can say. I mean,
- 7:37Speaker 4: it's just a beautiful way to play the game. What
- 7:40Speaker 4: was it, two losses this whole team had in the playoffs, Scotty? Yes.
- 7:46Speaker 2: They lost to the Padres in the DS one game,
- 7:49Speaker 2: and they lost one game to the Rays.
- 7:51Speaker 3: What's up, guys?
- 7:52Speaker 1: No, I was just going to say, Todd, you said it.
- 7:54Speaker 1: You're like, oh, you know what they do? They bunt.
- 7:56Speaker 1: How many bunts did they have in the World Series?
- 8:01Speaker 3: Zero.
- 8:02Speaker 4: I don't think they had any.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Zero. Zero. Didn't need it.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Didn't need it.
- 8:07Speaker 1: So let's disband the whole, oh, they bond. They run
- 8:10Speaker 1: all their stuff. Let's just say they want to do
- 8:13Speaker 1: what it takes to win the game, not, well, you
- 8:16Speaker 1: know what? This is what it says it takes. You
- 8:20Speaker 1: know what it needs? You know what it needs? I mean,
- 8:21Speaker 1: Smoltz kept calling for it, first and third. Oh, this
- 8:24Speaker 1: is where they're going to safety squeeze. This is where
- 8:26Speaker 1: they're going to– why? Hamilton hit an absolute rocket against
- 8:30Speaker 1: a drawn-in infield where if they were back, it would
- 8:33Speaker 1: have been– Turn in two and you're out of the inning.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I know it's tough to turn two against Hamilton, but
- 8:37Speaker 1: against that rocket of a shot, you could have.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Also, it wasn't the cleanest defensive series for the Rays,
- 8:45Speaker 2: but we talked about this. They're one of the best
- 8:47Speaker 2: defensive teams in the sport. The Brewers and the Rays
- 8:51Speaker 2: would drop down bun hits during the regular season. I'm
- 8:54Speaker 2: sure if we look back, a lot of the time
- 8:56Speaker 2: it was against crappy defenses. So take advantage of what's
- 8:59Speaker 2: in front of you.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Game plan. Have a scouting department. These are things that
- 9:03Speaker 3: have been talked about for decades.
- 9:05Speaker 2: They do it. They do it really well. Impressive, impressive team.
- 9:10Speaker 2: And also they built a ridiculous bullpen. Ridiculous in a
- 9:14Speaker 2: different way too, Kratz, because you were part of a
- 9:17Speaker 2: Royals team a while back that had some huge names
- 9:21Speaker 2: and it was a special bullpen, right?
- 9:22Speaker 3: Kelvin Herrera, Wade Davis.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Greg Holland.
- 9:26Speaker 3: And who was the third?
- 9:27Speaker 1: Greg Holland.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Here's the difference for me. We can brag about more
- 9:33Speaker 2: than just three here. When we talk back about the Brewers, McGill.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Great today. He was fine.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I think they just flubbed by using him for an
- 9:43Speaker 2: out the other day. Obviously, Ashby is the story. Abner Uribe,
- 9:50Speaker 2: that's the three that if you wanted to compare to
- 9:52Speaker 2: Kansas City, then you could go another three or four
- 9:55Speaker 2: guys that were pretty impressive.
- 9:58Speaker 1: JoJo Romero, take a look at his slider compared to
- 10:01Speaker 1: when he was with the Cardinals to tonight. Some of
- 10:05Speaker 1: those backdoor sliders to righties helped him neutralize right-handed bats.
- 10:13Speaker 3: D.L. Hall.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Thank you, D.L. Hall. A starter that they got for
- 10:17Speaker 1: Corbin Burns that, you know what? Ah, crappy trade. We
- 10:22Speaker 1: really screwed that one up. Let's flip him somewhere. No,
- 10:25Speaker 1: let's bring him out of the pen so he can
- 10:26Speaker 1: throw 97 to 99 from the left side. And then
- 10:30Speaker 1: you got, and then you have, well, Drohan came out
- 10:34Speaker 1: the other night.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Sent to tell us, you know, gave him some good innings.
- 10:39Speaker 2: I mean, there was just more depth there in this bullpen.
- 10:42Speaker 2: You can go four or five deep with a bullpen that.
- 10:45Speaker 2: You know, most of the time you're looking at teams going, eh,
- 10:47Speaker 2: I really, really trust two, maybe three guys. Like three guys,
- 10:51Speaker 2: you're feeling like, okay, I can go one or two
- 10:53Speaker 2: innings with three guys.
- 10:54Speaker 3: I'm special. And Milwaukee can extend that.
- 10:57Speaker 1: And I think that's how you– and I think a
- 11:00Speaker 1: lot of GMs try to do it at the trade deadline,
- 11:03Speaker 1: try to add that depth. It's just tough to do sometimes.
- 11:07Speaker 1: In 2015, as much as the 14 team is remembered,
- 11:09Speaker 1: 2015 we won the World Series and– Greg Holland got hurt.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Wade Davis became the closer. Luke Hoschever just was like,
- 11:20Speaker 1: oh yeah, I'll just come out off of Tommy John
- 11:22Speaker 1: surgery and dominate everybody. Ryan Madsen was in that pen.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Joe Blanton came and threw innings out of that pen.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Tim Collins was out there. I think he got hurt
- 11:33Speaker 1: that year. But either way, you have to create that
- 11:36Speaker 1: extra depth because you don't know what's going to happen.
- 11:38Speaker 1: And the Brewers had that depth. And they Like they
- 11:43Speaker 1: had traded for Zerpa, the lefty from Venezuela. And everyone
- 11:47Speaker 1: was like, what a trade. This is unbelievable. What a
- 11:50Speaker 1: great job. And I was like, I don't even really
- 11:52Speaker 1: know who this guy is. He wasn't even on the
- 11:54Speaker 1: active roster.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Yeah. It's a special Brewers team.
- 12:01Speaker 1: It is.
- 12:02Speaker 2: And they've got something good going in this organization. And
- 12:04Speaker 2: then let's move to the offense, shall we? Todd Fother,
- 12:08Speaker 2: one of the big differences between the Brewers lineup and
- 12:11Speaker 2: the Rays lineup, is that Milwaukee really gave you more,
- 12:15Speaker 2: here's a theme, length.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Bottom of the lineup did things.
- 12:20Speaker 2: And one of the stars towards the bottom of the lineup,
- 12:22Speaker 2: Cooper Pratt, the rookie, again tonight, right? Driving in a
- 12:26Speaker 2: couple runs for this team and just making the Brewers
- 12:29Speaker 2: look like geniuses for locking him up already to an extension,
- 12:33Speaker 2: bringing him up, trusting him as a rookie shortstop in
- 12:36Speaker 2: the postseason for a team that I think had a
- 12:40Speaker 2: lot of, pressure on it to finally come through in
- 12:43Speaker 2: the playoffs right this team is in the playoffs just
- 12:45Speaker 2: about every year for the past decade and their fans
- 12:48Speaker 2: and everybody in baseball is like can they get over
- 12:50Speaker 2: the hump and then there's some people like does this
- 12:52Speaker 2: brand of baseball work in the playoffs they got swept
- 12:54Speaker 2: by the dodgers last year yeah it worked and pratt
- 12:57Speaker 2: was a big part of it and you know there's
- 12:58Speaker 2: other guys there at the bottom that had big moments
- 13:01Speaker 2: freelick hamilton mitchell but pratt over these last few games
- 13:06Speaker 2: man making a big name for himself and And you
- 13:09Speaker 2: see a kid out there who, like you mentioned the
- 13:11Speaker 2: other day, was in high school a few years ago.
- 13:14Speaker 4: It's crazy. I mean, think about how many RBIs that
- 13:16Speaker 4: seven through nine got in this World Series compared to
- 13:20Speaker 4: Tampa Bay. It was a lot. You know, Cooper Pratt's
- 13:24Speaker 4: swing plays, man. It's not a launch angle swing. It's like,
- 13:30Speaker 4: I call it the Tom Amansky swing. You know, A
- 13:33Speaker 4: to B to C. It's just, it's a perfect approach.
- 13:38Speaker 4: of touching a baseball with the perfect part of the bat.
- 13:41Speaker 4: And people understand, well, what do you mean? No, that barrel,
- 13:45Speaker 4: he is hitting the ball on the barrel every single time.
- 13:48Speaker 4: And whether it's a pop out for a sack fly, fantastic,
- 13:52Speaker 4: like he did today, or it's a line drive up
- 13:55Speaker 4: the middle for an RBI, or to right wherever, yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 4: right back up the middle. He squares the baseball up
- 14:02Speaker 4: better than a lot of guys do at his young age.
- 14:06Speaker 4: And that's the whole team. I think they're a contact-hitting team.
- 14:10Speaker 4: They hit strikes really well. They look for pitches out
- 14:13Speaker 4: in their area, and when they get it, they really
- 14:15Speaker 4: didn't miss. And I'm not saying for home runs because
- 14:17Speaker 4: they barely hit any. Cooper Pratt, to me, was an
- 14:20Speaker 4: MVP for sure. And I think he proved it. He
- 14:23Speaker 4: got six hits in a row, a big home run.
- 14:26Speaker 4: I mean, listen, where would they be without that young
- 14:29Speaker 4: man at shortstop? Not really sure because he showed out.
- 14:33Speaker 4: He showed up. And he was absolutely dynamite for a
- 14:37Speaker 4: Milwaukee World Series team.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I'm going to go through Cooper Pratt's last two seasons.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Biloxi and AA. This is the season. This is his
- 14:47Speaker 1: platform season that they said as a 20-year-old, we're going
- 14:52Speaker 1: to offer you eight years, 50-some million dollars. 238 on
- 14:58Speaker 1: base percentage, 343 slugging percentage, 348. So you know when
- 15:05Speaker 1: he gets his contract, maybe he gets hot in AAA. 241, 349, 386.
- 15:12Speaker 1: You know why they gave him that contract? Yes, it's
- 15:15Speaker 1: because of defense. I get it. They gave him that
- 15:17Speaker 1: contract because they understood who he was. They understood Rick Sweet,
- 15:22Speaker 1: AAA manager, understood, you know what, this is the kind
- 15:26Speaker 1: of person that they're looking for in the big leagues
- 15:29Speaker 1: to help this team. Does he fit that profile?
- 15:33Speaker 3: Yes.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Is he going to change the landscape of this team? Well,
- 15:39Speaker 1: clearly he can because he's getting significant at-bats in significant
- 15:44Speaker 1: spots in the World Series. When they signed him to
- 15:49Speaker 1: extension last year, they didn't go, well, you know what,
- 15:52Speaker 1: he'll be ready in a few years when we're ready
- 15:55Speaker 1: to win a World Series. They knew they were ready
- 15:57Speaker 1: to win a World Series. And so they're not going
- 16:00Speaker 1: to be like, well, we'll just give him the money
- 16:01Speaker 1: and we'll let him marinate for a little bit. They
- 16:03Speaker 1: knew he was going to be a part of this
- 16:05Speaker 1: or they thought he was going to be a part
- 16:06Speaker 1: of this. And so good forward thinking by the Brewers.
- 16:10Speaker 1: And why do other teams not do this? $ 55 million
- 16:13Speaker 1: is nothing. Nothing for a guy that could have won
- 16:17Speaker 1: the MVP in the World Series.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right.
- 16:20Speaker 2: And maybe it picks up a theme. There are other
- 16:24Speaker 2: teams like Milwaukee. in terms of being a small market.
- 16:28Speaker 2: What does a small market mean? Small television market. Your
- 16:31Speaker 2: area of the country that they count is small, none
- 16:35Speaker 2: smaller than the Brewers in Major League Baseball. There are
- 16:39Speaker 2: other teams that are like, why can't we be the Brewers?
- 16:43Speaker 2: Todd Filey played for the Pirates. Why can't we be
- 16:45Speaker 2: the Brewers?
- 16:46Speaker 1: The Reds.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Why can't we be the Brewers? They're both in the
- 16:48Speaker 3: same division. Well, here's an idea.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Identify talent early in the minor leagues and lock them
- 16:54Speaker 2: up like you did.
- 16:55Speaker 3: With Cooper Pratt and say, hey, dude, we believe in you.
- 16:59Speaker 4: One of the best minor leaguers organizations, for sure. I
- 17:02Speaker 4: didn't even know Rick Sweet was still coaching. That guy,
- 17:05Speaker 4: he coached me at Louisville, dude. That's incredible how he's
- 17:08Speaker 4: still managing in AAA, Cratsy.
- 17:10Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Enjoy your ring, sweetie.
- 17:16Speaker 3: That's right.
- 17:17Speaker 4: You can't say that.
- 17:19Speaker 3: No, I'm kidding.
- 17:23Speaker 1: It's better than what I call his first name, so.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Hey, speaking of youngsters, Jackson Cheerio, too. A shout out
- 17:31Speaker 2: to what he did. He was just a hits machine
- 17:33Speaker 2: and a clutch hits machine for this Brewers team. So
- 17:38Speaker 2: let's keep moving, though, because I want to talk about
- 17:41Speaker 2: the just announced MVP. So first off, full count fueled
- 17:46Speaker 2: by marathon where fun runs on full. Save up to
- 17:50Speaker 2: one dollar a gallon with marathon rewards.
- 17:54Speaker 4: All right.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Let's keep moving here. Merch, World Champs, Milwaukee Brewers.
- 17:58Speaker 2: We have a ton of different t-shirt options that are
- 18:01Speaker 2: on FoulTerritoryShop.com. There's also super, super soft shirts, which is
- 18:06Speaker 2: important to us. So look for those. They're called TriBlend
- 18:09Speaker 2: on there. FoulTerritoryShop.com. I think we probably have 15 different
- 18:14Speaker 2: brewer shirts created over the past couple weeks that you
- 18:17Speaker 2: might really like. The one that I'm wearing about Cheerio
- 18:19Speaker 2: is from actually maybe two, three months ago at this point.
- 18:23Speaker 2: And it's still a banger. All smiles presented by Lorraine
- 18:33Speaker 2: co congratulations to world series MVP, William Contreras.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Crats.
- 18:43Speaker 2: The catchers deserve the credit when they get the knocks,
- 18:48Speaker 2: they handle the pitching staff, they block the pitches. That's
- 18:52Speaker 2: the part that always gets overlooked. And then they're just
- 18:55Speaker 2: an ABS challenge machine.
- 18:58Speaker 1: It's that's a new value. We're going to talk about this.
- 19:02Speaker 1: This is something that swings games. How many one-run games
- 19:05Speaker 1: did we play in this five-game series? Four. No, I'm sorry, three.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Three of the five. You had one blowout, you had
- 19:12Speaker 1: the four-to-one game, and then one-run games. If you think
- 19:16Speaker 1: one challenge doesn't matter, then you're just not watching the game.
- 19:20Speaker 1: It is a talent. He did everything really well. William
- 19:25Speaker 1: Contreras versus Liam Hicks. Offensively, Liam Hicks had a better
- 19:29Speaker 1: year this year. William Contreras was an all-star. William Contreras
- 19:32Speaker 1: showed up in this playoffs, could have won the MVP
- 19:35Speaker 1: of the NLCS, but goes on and wins the big one,
- 19:40Speaker 1: the World Series MVP.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Look at those numbers too, Todd.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Those are the postseason numbers that he put together.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Over 1,000 OPS.
- 19:47Speaker 4: That's a beautiful thing right there. I mean, that's video
- 19:53Speaker 4: game numbers. He was smooth too. Everything he did, he
- 19:58Speaker 4: was under control. He wasn't out of control. He was
- 20:01Speaker 4: just cruising. And he's taking that cruise all the way
- 20:04Speaker 4: to the World Series Championship. Every time he challenged a
- 20:07Speaker 4: pitcher who was there, It seemed like every time he
- 20:11Speaker 4: needed to block a ball, he did it. And when
- 20:14Speaker 4: they needed a big hit, and not all the time
- 20:16Speaker 4: was it a home run, he just found a way
- 20:18Speaker 4: to hit a ball square, get a guy over, get
- 20:20Speaker 4: him in. Well-deserved. Could have gone to a couple other guys, too,
- 20:24Speaker 4: as well, but that's the hardest part about MVP. I'm
- 20:27Speaker 4: sure Contreras is thinking, no, man, this is great, but
- 20:31Speaker 4: I'm sure he's thinking, too, there could have been two
- 20:33Speaker 4: or three other guys that could have gotten this, and
- 20:35Speaker 4: that's why this team is a World Series champ because
- 20:38Speaker 4: there could have been four different MVPs, if not five.
- 20:42Speaker 2: And Todd Filer, sometimes a team just needs a little bite,
- 20:45Speaker 2: needs a contraris. I mean, the Red Sox kind of
- 20:48Speaker 2: needed a contraris. That one's a little more wild, but
- 20:52Speaker 2: this wild bill still brings a little bit.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Of bite to his game, right? Like a confidence, a
- 20:59Speaker 3: definitely unique player.
- 21:01Speaker 2: You know how there's a lot of players still in
- 21:03Speaker 2: our sport that are just very, I don't even know
- 21:06Speaker 2: how to describe it. They kind of blend in. They
- 21:08Speaker 2: don't say anything crazy. I guess that's the word. There
- 21:12Speaker 2: are many boring players in our sport.
- 21:13Speaker 1: It's true.
- 21:14Speaker 2: We cover our sport. Sometimes we bring on interviews, and
- 21:17Speaker 2: they're incredible. And sometimes you're like, hey, dude, are you there?
- 21:20Speaker 2: You're not going to get in trouble. Just enjoy yourself.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Contreras is having fun out there, and he knows he's good.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Contreras in one year has proven he's a winner by
- 21:28Speaker 1: winning the WBC, which does matter. Sorry, AJ. It does matter.
- 21:33Speaker 1: And by winning... being the main catcher on both. And
- 21:36Speaker 1: like the flair and everything, like you see the energy,
- 21:40Speaker 1: you see what he does. It probably pisses you off
- 21:43Speaker 1: if you're not a Brewers fan or if you're a
- 21:46Speaker 1: get off my lawn type of guy. Like why does
- 21:48Speaker 1: he have eye black on that's like this big on
- 21:51Speaker 1: both eyes playing in a dome? Like why does he
- 21:55Speaker 1: do it? Because there might be a little bit of selfishness,
- 21:58Speaker 1: but that selfishness gives him confidence. There's flaws in his game.
- 22:03Speaker 1: I think his own coaching staff, his own teammates would
- 22:06Speaker 1: say there's flaws. But you know what? Until they were
- 22:10Speaker 1: winning 10 to nothing, they didn't have one other person
- 22:14Speaker 1: back there. And every year you win a World Series,
- 22:17Speaker 1: you look at who is catching and you say, that
- 22:21Speaker 1: was the guy. If you're going into the World Series
- 22:23Speaker 1: or the playoffs and you're like, eh, we're platooning this
- 22:26Speaker 1: guy here, it's probably not going to work out.
- 22:31Speaker 3: That's a good call. I mean, have a year.
- 22:34Speaker 2: WBC in a World Series title is about as good
- 22:36Speaker 2: as it gets.
- 22:37Speaker 1: In our sport, especially when Harry Kane– I don't know
- 22:40Speaker 1: if you guys watch soccer at all. Harry Kane won the–
- 22:45Speaker 1: what's the MVP of all soccer? He won– I'm trying
- 22:50Speaker 1: to think of the award name and it's blanking on
- 22:52Speaker 1: me right now. But he won the Bundesliga championship. He
- 22:56Speaker 1: got second place in the World Cup. He got second
- 22:59Speaker 1: place in the Champions League. Like– And he ended up
- 23:05Speaker 1: getting three trophies. And, like, that is my epitome of
- 23:10Speaker 1: an MVP. The guy that is able to win wherever
- 23:13Speaker 1: he's going and win Contreras, they can never take that away.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Whether you don't like his eye black, you don't like
- 23:19Speaker 1: his antics, you wonder if he actually calls the pitches
- 23:21Speaker 1: on his own or not, he is a winner. And
- 23:24Speaker 1: he had to be that guy back there coming up
- 23:27Speaker 1: in big spots behind the dish and at the dish.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 23:31Speaker 3: And he had support.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Milwaukee brought half their city down to Tampa Bay, to St.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Petersburg, or maybe you were staying off of St. Pete.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Look at that crowd. Careful about what?
- 23:46Speaker 1: Careful, the Rays. The Rays fans. They came at me
- 23:50Speaker 1: after I said something about this.
- 23:53Speaker 2: I'm a Florida resident, so I'm talking to my people here.
- 23:56Speaker 2: And also, someone was really going off on socials that
- 23:59Speaker 2: like a third of The Tampa area is not from there.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Whatever that means. I mean, from there. They're all from
- 24:06Speaker 3: New Jersey.
- 24:06Speaker 1: There are a lot.
- 24:11Speaker 3: NBA.
- 24:11Speaker 1: No.
- 24:12Speaker 4: But for sure. New York and New Jersey.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Dude, Milwaukee traveled.
- 24:17Speaker 1: One guy came at me. One guy came at me
- 24:20Speaker 1: and goes, yeah, where would everybody want to go and
- 24:22Speaker 1: watch a game where people vacation? I'm never going to
- 24:25Speaker 1: stupid Wisconsin. And I was like, what?
- 24:30Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:31Speaker 1: You're not even able to get a ticket there because
- 24:33Speaker 1: you don't even go to the Rays games. But anyway, Scott,
- 24:36Speaker 1: be careful. Be careful. They're a spiteful crew.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Well, I mean, easy example because I lived this. I
- 24:43Speaker 2: can speak for the fan experience, right? This wasn't this
- 24:45Speaker 2: past year, but the year before, Knicks were finally good
- 24:48Speaker 2: in the last few years, right? So tickets were crazy,
- 24:52Speaker 2: and I flew with my dad to Indianapolis. I wasn't
- 24:55Speaker 2: going to Indianapolis for vacation, guys. I was going to
- 24:58Speaker 2: Indianapolis to watch a Knicks game. You fly out there
- 25:01Speaker 2: if you want to do it. I will make this point, Kratz.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Remember before the Dodgers series, we were doing one of
- 25:06Speaker 2: our segments about tickets. And I asked you if you
- 25:11Speaker 2: thought there would be many Brewers fans there. And you're like,
- 25:13Speaker 2: probably not.
- 25:14Speaker 1: And you were right.
- 25:15Speaker 2: It didn't feel like Brewers fans were taking over LA.
- 25:18Speaker 2: They took over the drop. First of all, it's World Series.
- 25:22Speaker 3: It's different.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Second of all, part of this was the fact that
- 25:26Speaker 2: there's only so many people that can go to World
- 25:28Speaker 2: Series games online.
- 25:29Speaker 3: In Milwaukee. And it was a hefty ticket.
- 25:32Speaker 2: And they looked and they said, hey, I can get
- 25:34Speaker 2: a much better situation if I fly down to the Trop.
- 25:37Speaker 2: And also I might be able to get a clinch
- 25:39Speaker 2: in there. And they did if you stayed down there
- 25:40Speaker 2: for game five.
- 25:43Speaker 1: And good for them for going down there. You think
- 25:46Speaker 1: the players didn't feed off of it? You're lying because
- 25:49Speaker 1: they'll never be able to tell you what it's like
- 25:51Speaker 1: to play in a World Series like we played in
- 25:54Speaker 1: San Francisco. and you go up and you're winning the
- 25:57Speaker 1: game in the eighth inning, and there's three sections, one
- 26:01Speaker 1: above your dugout, about 15 rows up, one way up
- 26:06Speaker 1: in left field in the upper, upper deck, and then
- 26:09Speaker 1: one behind home plate in the upper deck. And you
- 26:11Speaker 1: know those are the only Royal fans in the entire
- 26:13Speaker 1: stadium because they didn't feel it. So I know it
- 26:16Speaker 1: helped the Brewers.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 26:21Speaker 2: You know, actually– What I was thinking about today when
- 26:23Speaker 2: Cooper Pratt had his sixth consecutive hit at one point,
- 26:27Speaker 2: Todd Father, how in Milwaukee they say Coop. And if
- 26:33Speaker 2: they're trying to boo him because he's playing so well,
- 26:35Speaker 2: boo and Coop, basically the same thing.
- 26:38Speaker 3: So everybody's just Coop. Yeah, I heard a lot of Coop.
- 26:42Speaker 1: He's like, thank you. Yeah, a lot of Coop.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Maybe a little boo, but they're all the same.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Man, you boom when he comes to the plate. You
- 26:50Speaker 4: don't boom after he gets the hit. I mean, you
- 26:53Speaker 4: don't see that really in baseball unless the guy's jawing
- 26:56Speaker 4: to the crowd and giving some gestures or whatever. So
- 26:59Speaker 4: they were all coops there in Tampa Bay too.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Coop, coop.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it was good.
- 27:05Speaker 2: All right, a couple more things to do. First off,
- 27:06Speaker 2: baseball fans, make sure you lock in. Shout out to
- 27:09Speaker 2: one of our sponsors during the postseason. That is Lorraine Co.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Remineralizing pouches. They're nicotine-free. They're made with powerful nootropics to
- 27:17Speaker 2: keep you mentally sharp while supporting your teeth.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Go check them out.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Buylorraine.com and use code FT10 at checkout for 10% off.
- 27:28Speaker 2: We have a super chat I've heard. We can show that. Oh,
- 27:32Speaker 2: and I think it's an important one. Eric, when you
- 27:36Speaker 2: think of the Brewers franchise, and what is this, year
- 27:38Speaker 2: 57 of the Milwaukee Brewers? Or was it 54 of
- 27:44Speaker 2: the years was Duke behind?
- 27:46Speaker 3: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 27:47Speaker 2: So the super chat from Ref, 54 years behind the mic,
- 27:51Speaker 2: Duke finally gets his ring, Milwaukee.
- 27:53Speaker 3: This one's for Mr. Baseball.
- 27:54Speaker 2: My question was going to be, who do you think
- 27:56Speaker 2: about when you think Milwaukee Brewers? It's not even close.
- 27:59Speaker 2: I was blessed to be able to meet him a
- 28:02Speaker 2: couple times and actually have a conversation.
- 28:04Speaker 3: I mean, geez.
- 28:06Speaker 2: A plus plus plus hall of fame legends, uh, passed
- 28:09Speaker 2: away a little bit ago.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Doesn't get to see this, but everybody felt like he
- 28:13Speaker 3: was there.
- 28:14Speaker 1: A hundred percent. And he'll always be there in, in
- 28:20Speaker 1: Brewer fans minds in there. The legend of the Brewers.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Why did the Brewer fans go down to Tampa? Why
- 28:28Speaker 1: did they sell out the stadium? Because there's generations of
- 28:31Speaker 1: fans that have fallen in love with this organization and
- 28:36Speaker 1: The best logo. The best logo in all of sports.
- 28:40Speaker 1: The M and the B. And they've fallen in love
- 28:42Speaker 1: with it. Small market, you know what? They're like, this
- 28:45Speaker 1: is our small market. This is our small market. And
- 28:47Speaker 1: the voice that is connected for them is the Uke.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Uke is connected for them for whatever you think of
- 29:00Speaker 1: baseball in Milwaukee. And then you go and meet the
- 29:03Speaker 1: guy when I played there. for him to invite my
- 29:06Speaker 1: sons up to the press box to do an inning
- 29:10Speaker 1: with him, he was like, yeah, let's do it in
- 29:12Speaker 1: the playoffs. Somebody else was like, I don't think we're
- 29:15Speaker 1: allowed to do it in the playoffs. He's like, ah, whatever.
- 29:17Speaker 1: He was like, this team's good. They'll have more games.
- 29:21Speaker 1: And he was just that guy. And radio sometimes gets
- 29:28Speaker 1: your imagination going. TV sometimes. You're losing it when you're
- 29:32Speaker 1: watching it, but that voice, that audio will always be
- 29:35Speaker 1: in the minds of the brewer. So good for you.
- 29:39Speaker 1: He gets his ring.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Radio is tougher. It's a tougher job too. Todd, you've
- 29:45Speaker 3: done some radio, right? You've done some radio. Yeah.
- 29:49Speaker 2: It's, it's tougher because you got to paint the picture.
- 29:51Speaker 2: You can't play to what people are seeing. You don't
- 29:53Speaker 2: lay out on radio for long, right? You can't just
- 29:56Speaker 2: be like, I'm not going to talk. Let's just, Have
- 29:59Speaker 2: everyone enjoy the moment here. They need to know what
- 30:01Speaker 2: you're seeing. It's a really difficult job. And to combine
- 30:05Speaker 2: painting the picture, entertaining, informing, he was the best.
- 30:10Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, listen, I, I, you know, Kratz, you
- 30:12Speaker 4: said it very well. I couldn't have said it any better.
- 30:15Speaker 4: You've been around him more. I met him once or twice.
- 30:17Speaker 4: Fantastic human being. I can't wait to see what Murph has,
- 30:22Speaker 4: what he has to say, what you told him, you
- 30:24Speaker 4: know what I mean? With his, I call him when
- 30:27Speaker 4: he comes out and says, oh, I got a message
- 30:30Speaker 4: from old man Bob. So we'll see if he comes
- 30:33Speaker 4: up with one here and he has a letter waiting
- 30:35Speaker 4: for sure.
- 30:39Speaker 2: And we're going to have FT, but this is the
- 30:42Speaker 2: last day of baseball in 2026. We're not going to
- 30:47Speaker 2: beat around the bush here, not on this show. Baseball
- 30:49Speaker 2: the way it should be covered. This might be the
- 30:51Speaker 2: last baseball game for a while, for longer than we'd
- 30:53Speaker 2: like it. to be subscribed to FT. We are all
- 30:57Speaker 2: over coverage in November where there are going to be
- 31:00Speaker 2: a good amount of moves, definitely way more than you're
- 31:02Speaker 2: used to in November because then Rob Manfred is going
- 31:06Speaker 2: to make an announcement on December 1st that the sport
- 31:08Speaker 2: is locked out due to the primary reason in their
- 31:11Speaker 2: mind that small markets don't.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Have a chance.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I don't know how you say that on a podium
- 31:18Speaker 2: this year.
- 31:19Speaker 3: That's a tough one.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Also, the Brewers didn't just win this year. The Brewers
- 31:23Speaker 2: look like they're going to be tough for a while.
- 31:26Speaker 2: The best prospect in baseball.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Pretty much everybody coming back.
- 31:29Speaker 3: Everybody coming back, Todd.
- 31:30Speaker 2: The best prospect in baseball's name is Jesus Made. He
- 31:33Speaker 2: didn't play this year in the major leagues. He's cooking
- 31:36Speaker 2: in the minor leagues, ready to go next year if
- 31:40Speaker 2: the sport will let him, if the sport's going to play.
- 31:42Speaker 2: This team looks like it's going to be a force
- 31:44Speaker 2: for a while.
- 31:46Speaker 3: We'll do so much more.
- 31:48Speaker 2: On the next edition of FT, we're on every single day,
- 31:50Speaker 2: 1 o'clock Eastern time, up until 3. So catch us there. Again,
- 31:54Speaker 2: congratulations to the Milwaukee Brewers. What a dominant year. What
- 31:57Speaker 2: a dominant run through the regular season and then the postseason.
- 32:01Speaker 2: They were, by far, the best team in baseball. Pop
- 32:05Speaker 2: that champagne, Milwaukee.
