Transcript
- 0:00So we all travel to work. We all get in our vehicles and we run errands.
- 0:05We eventually get into a vehicle or some type of transportation to get us where
- 0:11we need to go, right? A to B. But here's the question.
- 0:14Why is it that when you're in your vehicle, you feel as if you have joined the Indy 500 lately?
- 0:21Why is it that everybody is in a rush?
- 0:24I don't understand it. Is it because I'm getting older and maybe I'm just,
- 0:29you know, more cautious on the road?
- 0:31Or would you agree with me when I say everybody is just driving way too fast? So why rush?
- 0:39Have Faith, Let It Begin starts right now.
- 0:43Have Faith, Let It Begin. And it starts right now.
- 0:50Welcome to Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 0:53Here's your host, Angel Santana. Ariel, can you say, have faith?
- 1:00Let it begin.
- 1:03Say, have faith. Let it begin.
- 1:07No. No. No? Okay. Hi, Noah. Noah! Noah!
- 1:13Happy birthday, Noah!
- 1:22This little light of mine I'm gonna let it Shine This little light of mine I'm
- 1:29gonna let it Shine This little light of Light I'm gonna let it Shine Let it
- 1:36Shine Let it Shine Let it Shine Yeah!
- 1:42Daddy, I'm so excited! But I have one question. What's your question?
- 1:46I'm going to be a pastor or a minister.
- 1:49Good question. I don't know, but it is all in God's hands.
- 1:52Good morning. You're listening to Have Faith, Let Me Get, and it starts right now.
- 1:59We've all heard the expression, you know, take your time. There's no reason to rush.
- 2:06It's better to get there late, but safe, than to get there, well,
- 2:12to not get there at all. That's really the saying.
- 2:15Yeah, I guess because I'm getting older, maybe I've become like my own parents,
- 2:21like those commercials.
- 2:22Don't become like your parents. Well, you know what?
- 2:25I'm happy to become like my parents. I'm driving to work every morning or I'm
- 2:30driving back or I'm even running errands.
- 2:32And I feel like literally I am in a race.
- 2:35I feel as if somebody's trying to get in front of me, honking their horn,
- 2:40high beaming me, even if I'm in the slowing.
- 2:43Doing the actual speed limit. If it's 65, I'm getting high-beamed.
- 2:48I'm being told to get out of my way, even if I'm in the slow lane.
- 2:53I don't understand it, guys. What is the rush?
- 2:56Driving into work, I'll get to my lane where I have to pull into my location
- 3:01of where I work, into the hospital.
- 3:03And even then, people are rushing in.
- 3:06Are they running late? They not give themselves enough time?
- 3:09But because I'm running early, I am the victim of somebody rushing me off the road.
- 3:17Now, I'm not going to use other examples like cutting me off.
- 3:20No, I'm talking about the whole rush job. What is the rush?
- 3:26Why do we feel like we have to get to a place in record time?
- 3:30Is it a time management thing? Is it because you don't want to be on the road
- 3:35or you're trying to beat the traffic?
- 3:36I mean, I've driven all hours of the day.
- 3:40I've driven at night to do an overnight shift, and I still feel the same way.
- 3:44I still feel as if people are just rushing me off the road.
- 3:48Now, you could sit there and say, well, Angel, my goodness, how fast are you
- 3:51going? I do the speed limit. Now, do I speed? I've done it.
- 3:54I'm not saying I'm consistently at it, but if it's 65, maybe I'll do 70.
- 4:01It's as if 65 is the new 80, at least to my knowledge.
- 4:05I remember when they first raised the speed limit on the interstate that we
- 4:10drive on, 84, it used to be 55.
- 4:12And once they raised that to 65, I remember people saying, yeah,
- 4:15now I can do 70. Well, that's changed. Now it's 80, 85.
- 4:21And to me, I don't understand it. I try to understand it, try to put myself in their shoes.
- 4:28Now, have I been late before? Absolutely. Who hasn't? But I still don't rush.
- 4:33Now you could say, well, that's because you have kids, Angel.
- 4:36Listen, kids in my vehicle or not, I don't rush.
- 4:40I just take my time. At the end of the day, I've got to get there safe.
- 4:44Yes, because I have kids, on a side note, I am even more cautious.
- 4:49I want to make sure that I'm alive.
- 4:51But you know, in the field that I'm in and reading the papers,
- 4:55as the weather has gotten better, the accidents have started to increase.
- 5:00And it is very, very scary when you read articles about a six-year-old or an
- 5:06eight-year-old or a five-year-old pedestrian struck.
- 5:11A child should not be struck by a vehicle. Mind you, a child should be always
- 5:15watched so they're not in the car, in the road.
- 5:17But if we're driving at a respectful and honorable speed limit and we are cautious
- 5:26and not looking down at our phones, not texting while we're driving,
- 5:30we will see anything in our path.
- 5:34I'm going to exclude deer because deer come out of nowhere, right?
- 5:37That's something that just can be out of our control. But people shouldn't be.
- 5:42Children shouldn't be. Just this past week, family members of mine were struck from behind.
- 5:49And why? Because people were either tailgating, they were texting,
- 5:54They were not paying attention. This is the problem.
- 5:57I guess you can say that based off of that, that's what caused this episode to take air.
- 6:03But I've been feeling this for a while, and we've done episodes before.
- 6:07Just the other day, my boss shared with me that as she was doing her daily evening
- 6:11walk, the light at the crosswalk indicated she could walk.
- 6:17And here comes an individual with the right-of-way, meaning he could make the
- 6:21right, but he didn't come to a complete stop and he wasn't paying attention.
- 6:27Almost sideswiped her and took her right off the road,
- 6:30Of course, that's when they look up and they say, my bad, as the kids would
- 6:34say, my fault. And it's not all kids, let's be real.
- 6:38There's adults too that don't pay attention.
- 6:40Some will say that they have a lot going on in their mind. They're not paying
- 6:44attention because they're going through stressful times.
- 6:47I understand, but maybe you shouldn't be driving. I don't want to make it sound
- 6:51like a public announcement, but it is.
- 6:54Have Faith Let It Begin wants all of us to stay safe.
- 6:58We don't want to get a prayer request because somebody has struck another person
- 7:02or another vehicle and are in the hospital due to injuries.
- 7:05We want everyone to get where they need to be in a timely fashion.
- 7:10We want each and every one of you to be safe on the roads.
- 7:15So as spring fastly approaches, I'm asking all of you to please adhere to this warning.
- 7:21Take your time. There is no reason to rush.
- 7:25You don't have to text while you drive. You don't have to pay attention to what's on your phone.
- 7:33Get to where your destination is, or if it's that important,
- 7:36pull over and then make your phone call. Make your text message.
- 7:40Because what takes a few minutes to come off the road and make your call or
- 7:45deliver your text is far better than having to be pulled over,
- 7:50having the police arrive, and maybe you being arrested or given a fine because
- 7:56you did something to someone else.
- 7:59Maybe you struck a pole, maybe you damaged property, all because you needed
- 8:05to make an effort to use your technology over somebody else's safety.
- 8:10Now I digress. I kind of segued off of the main title, and that is why rush.
- 8:17When Jesus was delivering his message to others, he didn't rush.
- 8:22He didn't tell his disciples, we got to get there tomorrow.
- 8:24We got to get there today. He took his time.
- 8:28Delivering a message and getting to your destination should take your time. Get there safely.
- 8:36Trust in your vehicle and trust in your instincts and have the respect of the
- 8:42other drivers and other pedestrians, mind at heart, life at heart.
- 8:48Don't put their safety at jeopardy all because you failed to get up on time. Let's pray.
- 8:56Heavenly Father, we lift up in prayer all the individuals that have helped or
- 9:01have been a part of or recently heard of, of these accidents that have taken lives already,
- 9:09that have put children in the hospital, that have put adults in the hospital,
- 9:14all because people were not paying attention.
- 9:17We want everyone to get to where they need to be.
- 9:22Now, I know what you're thinking. This was kind of a tough episode,
- 9:25Angel. So where's the motivational part of this? It's very simple.
- 9:29God loves us. God wants us to be safe.
- 9:32God doesn't want us to put our lives and others in jeopardy.
- 9:37So guess what? The same technology that we use to make text message replies
- 9:43or outgoing messages or picking up the phone or checking your voicemail,
- 9:47the same technology that allows us to go on social media and tell the world
- 9:51what you're eating and tell the world what you're driving,
- 9:54the same text and technology that allows you to gossip and do all the things
- 10:00that you want to do is the same technology that allows us to put an alarm clock
- 10:04so that we can get up on time and get to work in a timely fashion. Think about that today.
- 10:13Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
- 10:17Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
- 10:22Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
- 10:29Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
- 10:32For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever.
- 10:37In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
- 10:40On this Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, I wish you nothing but peace and never forget.
- 10:46Have faith, let it begin. We lift up in prayer the following individuals that
- 10:52continue to ask for prayer.
- 10:54And not only that, we are lifting up in prayer.
