- 0:00Speaker 1: This is seven to ten o R Boy, The Mark
- 0:03Speaker 1: Simon Show starts.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Now, Hey, it's Friday. We've got through the week. We
- 0:10Speaker 2: got a lot to get to. Today, we'll get to
- 0:13Speaker 2: the loss of our great friend, the beloved Ernie and
- 0:16Speaker 2: ASTs we'll talk about him. We'll get to we'll give
- 0:18Speaker 2: you the very latest on the war in a couple
- 0:20Speaker 2: of minutes. We'll get to the save act that, we'll
- 0:24Speaker 2: get to crazy mom, Donnie, he's doing even more crazy stuff.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Speaking of crazy, that sheriff in the Nancy Guthrie case
- 0:33Speaker 2: sounding a little nuts and a little suspicious. We'll get
- 0:36Speaker 2: to all of that coming up, and let's get you
- 0:40Speaker 2: the latest on the war. Iran's new leader, son of
- 0:43Speaker 2: the Iahtola, the new Iahtola, is now believed to be
- 0:47Speaker 2: not only wounded we kept saying as facial lacerations, it's
- 0:50Speaker 2: now believed he's probably disfigured. In fact, Secretary Hexath on
- 0:56Speaker 2: camera this morning, daring him to appear on camera and
- 1:00Speaker 2: let's see what he looks like. We know he lost
- 1:02Speaker 2: a leg, we know he's been in a coma, severe
- 1:05Speaker 2: facial lacerations, but Hexith saying and he would have more
- 1:09Speaker 2: intelligence on this than anybody that he has disfigured, and
- 1:12Speaker 2: that's why written statements are coming out, and he has
- 1:17Speaker 2: not spoken publicly about anything. So we'll see what happens
- 1:21Speaker 2: with that. Straits of horn Moose will probably get reopened,
- 1:25Speaker 2: probably next week. The attacks on these tankers are done
- 1:29Speaker 2: in two ways. One by drones which are unmanned and
- 1:34Speaker 2: can be directed from far away drones with explosives. And
- 1:37Speaker 2: the other thing is these speedboats loaded with explosives that
- 1:41Speaker 2: hit the tanker. Those are also unmanned and like a drone,
- 1:45Speaker 2: can be controlled from many miles away. So you got
- 1:47Speaker 2: to get rid of all this stuff. They're getting rid
- 1:49Speaker 2: of those speedboats one by one. You just got to
- 1:51Speaker 2: take them all out. As far as drones, and these
- 1:54Speaker 2: are the most dangerous. Missiles are easier to blow up
- 2:00Speaker 2: stop because we can see the launchers, we can see
- 2:02Speaker 2: where they're launched from. We've taken out ninety percent of
- 2:05Speaker 2: the missiles. Ninety percent of the missiles are gone. Drones
- 2:09Speaker 2: are tougher because you can't see them. They might be
- 2:11Speaker 2: hidden in a basement in a garage until they're suddenly
- 2:14Speaker 2: pulled out. But it's believed we've taken out ninety five
- 2:17Speaker 2: percent of their drones ran. Yesterday released a picture, a
- 2:24Speaker 2: photograph of a warehouse that they had filled with the
- 2:28Speaker 2: state of the art drones, hundreds and hundreds of drones
- 2:31Speaker 2: in this warehouse. They released the pictures, I guess to
- 2:34Speaker 2: intimidate us, but they're probably not thinking in the pictures
- 2:39Speaker 2: that they released. There's probably some tags in there, meta
- 2:42Speaker 2: tags data somewhere in the pictures that might give a
- 2:45Speaker 2: hint as to where they're located. So not too smart
- 2:49Speaker 2: on their part. Now, you've got to remember something at
- 2:51Speaker 2: the end of a war, at the end of a war,
- 2:54Speaker 2: casualties go way way up. Always at the end of
- 2:58Speaker 2: the war with Japan, in the last few weeks they
- 3:01Speaker 2: went crazy fighting back. It's a last dying breath, last gasp,
- 3:05Speaker 2: and they killed more Americans in those last couple of weeks.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Something happened in Afghanistan. So when you see it ramping up,
- 3:11Speaker 2: when you see more return fire, more cast that, that's
- 3:15Speaker 2: when you know they're in their last throws and dying.
- 3:18Speaker 2: We lost four servicemen yesterday. Now this was not in
- 3:21Speaker 2: a combat or fire or friendly fire. It was a
- 3:25Speaker 2: refueling plane that crashed, not in Iran, but in Iraq.
- 3:29Speaker 2: They still haven't figured out what caused the crash, but
- 3:32Speaker 2: we lost four people. They would bring it up to
- 3:34Speaker 2: about ten service people lost in the last few weeks,
- 3:39Speaker 2: which is horrible. But you also have to remember, and
- 3:42Speaker 2: people aren't aware of this, we lose a lot of
- 3:43Speaker 2: servicemen and women without war, just in training accidents, about
- 3:48Speaker 2: thirty five a year. That's like three a month that
- 3:51Speaker 2: we lose. It happens all the time with war without war,
- 3:54Speaker 2: but it's just just terrible. They are less launches every
- 3:59Speaker 2: day of missiles and all that stuff. They are have
- 4:02Speaker 2: been st the president. We don't know what it is,
- 4:07Speaker 2: but he is talking about unleashing weapons on Iran that
- 4:10Speaker 2: nobody has seen yet. He did that in Venezuela with
- 4:13Speaker 2: those combobulator bombs that just made everybody paralyzed instantly. So
- 4:18Speaker 2: there's apparently some stuff they're gonna unleash at any point
- 4:22Speaker 2: in Iran. And yesterday, it was last night on X
- 4:28Speaker 2: and Twitter that he made that statement. That's got everybody upset. Now,
- 4:31Speaker 2: you got to remember, people that hate the president, they
- 4:35Speaker 2: go nuts when he says these crazy things. People that
- 4:38Speaker 2: love the president back what he's doing. But then sometimes
- 4:41Speaker 2: he'll say something and they'll go, oh God, why does
- 4:44Speaker 2: he have to talk like that? Why does he have
- 4:45Speaker 2: to say things like that? Well, that's the way he is.
- 4:48Speaker 2: He will shoot his mouth off. He's not a politician.
- 4:52Speaker 2: He's totally unfiltered. He will say things you're not supposed
- 4:56Speaker 2: to say. He'll talk in away you're not supposed to talk.
- 4:58Speaker 2: But is the great New York legend, Robert Morgenthaw, who
- 5:03Speaker 2: was one of the smartest guys I ever knew. And
- 5:05Speaker 2: we were all together, Donald Trump, Robert Morganhal, myself, and
- 5:12Speaker 2: a whole bunch of people. And when he'd leave the room,
- 5:16Speaker 2: Trump would leave the room. Sometimes people would say to Morgan, thought,
- 5:19Speaker 2: what is it? Why does he have to worry? And
- 5:21Speaker 2: Morganhaal would always say, and you should always remember this
- 5:23Speaker 2: rule he goes when it comes to Donald. Never listen
- 5:27Speaker 2: to what he says. Just watch what he does. And
- 5:30Speaker 2: it's a good rule. Don't pay attention to anything he says.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Just watch what he does. And if you look back
- 5:35Speaker 2: on his track record, he gets it done, He gets results,
- 5:39Speaker 2: He accomplishes things nobody ever thought would get accomplished. We
- 5:43Speaker 2: were talking about yesterday. Every president and politician for fifty
- 5:47Speaker 2: years promised to end our dependency on foreign oil. He
- 5:51Speaker 2: actually got it done. He did it, so he'll get
- 5:54Speaker 2: it done now. The other thing is you got what
- 5:57Speaker 2: they call the Pannikins as opposed to Republicans, the Panicans
- 6:00Speaker 2: who panic every time you're in the middle of something.
- 6:03Speaker 2: You remember when the terriffs were first announced and the
- 6:05Speaker 2: stock market plunged a billion points in five seconds and
- 6:08Speaker 2: everybody was panicking. Well, it not only came right back
- 6:11Speaker 2: two weeks later, but it went to all time highs.
- 6:13Speaker 2: It set new records. So it's the same thing here.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Oil prices will spike. Straits of her moose are closed.
- 6:19Speaker 2: This has happened before with the straits of her moose.
- 6:21Speaker 2: There's a lot of times in the past during wars,
- 6:24Speaker 2: during the Gulf War, during the Iraq War, during this
- 6:27Speaker 2: war where you couldn't get through the straits of her
- 6:29Speaker 2: moose and ships were being attacked and ended up needing
- 6:34Speaker 2: navy escort. This has happened before. So you'll see this
- 6:37Speaker 2: spike and it'll all get resolved, and it'll spike will
- 6:41Speaker 2: go away. Not only will oil prices come down, they'll
- 6:43Speaker 2: hit all time lows. After all of this is over
- 6:48Speaker 2: to another rule to remember, don't follow the big Washington
- 6:53Speaker 2: experts or the media experts when they tell you about Trump.
- 6:56Speaker 2: In fact, a good rule. A lot of gamblers have
- 6:58Speaker 2: figured this out. Whatever the experts tell you, bet against them.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Whatever Trump tells you, bet with them. Don't go with
- 7:06Speaker 2: the experts. And what they tell you is going to happen,
- 7:08Speaker 2: it won't happen. Now, there is an island called Carg Island.
- 7:13Speaker 2: It's a little island, but it contains almost all of
- 7:17Speaker 2: the oil refinery supplies, all the tanks of Iran. Carg
- 7:22Speaker 2: Island is like ninety two percent of the oil export
- 7:27Speaker 2: capability of Iran. Everything is on Carg Island. We have
- 7:30Speaker 2: not hit it. That's a final, absolute last straw. If
- 7:34Speaker 2: we had to, if we took out Carg Island, that
- 7:37Speaker 2: is the end of Iran as far as their economy.
- 7:41Speaker 2: It would completely devastate their economy for decades. So we
- 7:45Speaker 2: haven't hit it. We could also seize it and try
- 7:47Speaker 2: to just take it from them, or we could also
- 7:50Speaker 2: just blow it up, and that's the end of any
- 7:52Speaker 2: hope of an economy ever ever coming back in Iran.
- 7:55Speaker 2: So kind of crazy that they put everything on that
- 7:58Speaker 2: one island, but the president at some point will threaten
- 8:02Speaker 2: him with carg Island if they don't get a new regime.
- 8:05Speaker 2: The crazy thing he said today was as she was.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Last night he put out a tweet that Iran was
- 8:11Speaker 2: threatening us again, and then he said on Twitter, this
- 8:15Speaker 2: is in writing, way do you see what they get
- 8:17Speaker 2: hit with tomorrow? And his exact words were, way, do
- 8:20Speaker 2: you see what we do to these deranged scumbags tomorrow.
- 8:24Speaker 2: You're not supposed to talk like that when you're a president.
- 8:27Speaker 2: I think the reason for it was, you know, these
- 8:31Speaker 2: old deep state guys, these Washington swamp people, they're all
- 8:34Speaker 2: yelling and screamage. The messaging is wrong. He's got to
- 8:36Speaker 2: have the right messaging. You really don't. You can have confused,
- 8:40Speaker 2: contradictory messaging. It's actually a great idea because it just
- 8:44Speaker 2: confuses the enemy. You don't want clear messaging because then
- 8:47Speaker 2: the enemy knows where you are, what you're going to do.
- 8:50Speaker 2: And when they say, well, he hasn't explained the purpose
- 8:52Speaker 2: that you don't need to explain the purpose of this.
- 8:54Speaker 2: You're talking about the Iotola, biggest terrorist in the world
- 8:58Speaker 2: with his death to America, tea shirt funding Hesbala the hoodies,
- 9:03Speaker 2: every terrorist, everything on it. It's the biggest terrorist on earth.
- 9:05Speaker 2: You don't have to explain why you took him out.
- 9:07Speaker 2: That's pretty obvious. But you're not supposed to talk like
- 9:10Speaker 2: that with the range scumbag. You're not supposed to use
- 9:12Speaker 2: that kind of language. So what happened about thirty six
- 9:16Speaker 2: hours ago? So actually about twenty four hours ago, they
- 9:20Speaker 2: got I don't want to mention names here, but a
- 9:22Speaker 2: bunch of the inner circle of the president got some
- 9:25Speaker 2: of the wisest old Washington hands on how you're supposed
- 9:29Speaker 2: to talk in a situation like this, and the conference
- 9:32Speaker 2: tom in with President Trump to tell him how to
- 9:36Speaker 2: message this, how to address this, how to speak to this.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I mean, these guys told me this. I said, first
- 9:42Speaker 2: of all, this is going to last ten minutes and
- 9:44Speaker 2: they'll forget about it. But also, you know him will
- 9:47Speaker 2: probably go the opposode. I think that's what happened. This
- 9:49Speaker 2: was a reaction to that conference call, which he didn't
- 9:52Speaker 2: want to hear. So, hey, we'll get to Corey Lewandowski
- 9:55Speaker 2: coming up. He may have some real trouble. Hey. Arn Astes,
- 10:01Speaker 2: the legendary New York news man, was one of the
- 10:04Speaker 2: finest people I ever knew. He was the nicest guy ever.
- 10:07Speaker 2: You know that big, smiling, happy, positive Ernie you saw
- 10:10Speaker 2: on TV, Well, that was Ernie off the air every second,
- 10:13Speaker 2: every day everywhere. Everybody that knew him loved him. Everybody
- 10:18Speaker 2: that ever worked with him loved him. I don't know
- 10:20Speaker 2: anybody else you could say that about, but people loved
- 10:24Speaker 2: Ernie Anastes. He was a terrific guy, an excellent newsman.
- 10:27Speaker 2: He came to New York. It was back in the seventies,
- 10:31Speaker 2: and in those days, TV news, local TV news was
- 10:34Speaker 2: a very big deal. It's not anymore. Very few people
- 10:38Speaker 2: watched the six or eleven o'clock news. It's not a
- 10:40Speaker 2: big deal. They're lucky if they have, you know, a
- 10:42Speaker 2: few hundred thousand people watching. But in those days, six
- 10:46Speaker 2: o'clock eleven o'clock news on Channel seven, Channel four, Channel two,
- 10:50Speaker 2: millions of people would watch, and the anchors were getting
- 10:53Speaker 2: millions of dollars a year, and it was a big deal,
- 10:56Speaker 2: and those anchors were of amazing quality. You go back,
- 11:00Speaker 2: you look at can you name the anchors on Channel
- 11:02Speaker 2: two right now? No, who's the six o'clock news anchor
- 11:06Speaker 2: on Channel four? I don't know. Nobody knows. I watch it,
- 11:09Speaker 2: I don't know who it is, nobody knows whether people.
- 11:12Speaker 2: You don't know who they're, nobody knows who they are. Nobody.
- 11:17Speaker 2: So back then it was Legends, it was Channel seven,
- 11:20Speaker 2: it was Roger Grimsby and Bill Butell really really really
- 11:24Speaker 2: top top newsman. And then even the rest of the
- 11:27Speaker 2: cast it was Warner Wolf on Sports, Storm Field in
- 11:30Speaker 2: the Weather. And then the young guy that came in
- 11:33Speaker 2: there to join the group was Ernie Anastes, and he
- 11:37Speaker 2: was everywhere. He was a Channel two for a while,
- 11:38Speaker 2: Channel four, not Channel four, Channel two, Channel seven, then
- 11:42Speaker 2: Channel nine, then Channel five, and a great guy in
- 11:47Speaker 2: real life. He had been a DJ when I was
- 11:49Speaker 2: a little kid. I remember hearing this DJ on the air,
- 11:52Speaker 2: Ernie Andrews. I found out later that was Ernie Anastes.
- 11:56Speaker 2: At that time they want am using his name. But
- 11:58Speaker 2: he was an honest, decent broadcaster you could trust. And
- 12:02Speaker 2: he always talked about that.
- 12:03Speaker 3: If you have a sense of your purpose, it doesn't
- 12:06Speaker 3: have to be some lofty thing. It just could be
- 12:08Speaker 3: a sense of this is why I'm here, I'm making
- 12:10Speaker 3: that's why I'm here, this is why I live that's right.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I'm making a difference somehow. That's how I feel about
- 12:14Speaker 3: my work.
- 12:15Speaker 2: And you hear the way you talk. You always had
- 12:17Speaker 2: that smile in his voice, that positive smile in his voice.
- 12:20Speaker 3: I'm hoping that maybe, you know, we'll say, Okay, we'll
- 12:22Speaker 3: strike the balance. Let's give them the news, put it
- 12:25Speaker 3: in a right perspective, but also give them some other
- 12:27Speaker 3: positive things to think about, so we can feel that
- 12:29Speaker 3: there is some There's a keyword, hope.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Hope.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Okay, if we lose hope, we've lost everything. And I'll
- 12:35Speaker 3: say one last thing, may Angelo, she was wonderful and
- 12:39Speaker 3: in terms of like what we do.
- 12:40Speaker 1: People may not remember.
- 12:42Speaker 3: What you said or what you did, but they'll remember
- 12:45Speaker 3: how you made them feel.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Now here's another thing about and you don't see this anymore,
- 12:51Speaker 2: and you, Ernie ass very well for about I don't know,
- 12:54Speaker 2: thirty years. I probably had lunch with them five million times,
- 12:57Speaker 2: dinner with them a billion times, talk to them trillions
- 13:00Speaker 2: of hours, and yet I still have no idea where
- 13:05Speaker 2: he stood politically. I have no idea if he was
- 13:07Speaker 2: a Democrat or Republican. I don't know if he liked
- 13:10Speaker 2: Trump like he was absolutely neutral that's the way he's
- 13:14Speaker 2: supposed to be as a newsman. You know him back then,
- 13:19Speaker 2: you really didn't. You know, you could watch Johnny Carson
- 13:22Speaker 2: every night, five nights a week for twenty you didn't
- 13:24Speaker 2: know where he stood politically. You could never tell Jay Leno,
- 13:28Speaker 2: who always did political jokes every night, but you still
- 13:33Speaker 2: you couldn't tell. Is he a Democrat as a republic
- 13:35Speaker 2: couldn't tell. And that's really the way it's supposed to be.
- 13:39Speaker 2: But he was an amazing, amazing guy. Funeral will be
- 13:43Speaker 2: on Monday in Westchester. He lived in Westchester, was in
- 13:47Speaker 2: New York all the time, was here all the time
- 13:48Speaker 2: at w O R Hey. Check out my Instagram. There's
- 13:51Speaker 2: some Ernie pictures and some Ernie video up there. Mark
- 13:54Speaker 2: Simone NYC at Instagram and a lot of great tributes yesterday, day, today,
- 14:02Speaker 2: this morning, just endless tributes to Ernie an Astes, really
- 14:06Speaker 2: really great guy. Remember yesterday were talking about Bill O'Reilly.
- 14:09Speaker 2: It was the day before Bill O'Reilly was on You
- 14:11Speaker 2: remember that clip you've seen that video where the control
- 14:14Speaker 2: room screws up and he's screaming at him and he goes, what, well,
- 14:17Speaker 2: don't live Remember that and I pointed out, that's every host,
- 14:22Speaker 2: every anchor man ever in television, the nicest ones, the
- 14:26Speaker 2: worst ones. There's always a moment where the control room
- 14:29Speaker 2: is screwing up like crazy and the anchor will start
- 14:31Speaker 2: yelling and cursing at it. It happens not all the time,
- 14:34Speaker 2: but once in a while. Every host, every host, and
- 14:38Speaker 2: anchor has done that at some point, except if there's
- 14:44Speaker 2: one guy that didn't do it. I think it was
- 14:48Speaker 2: I don't think he's ever yelled at anybody ever, maybe Regis,
- 14:51Speaker 2: maybe Regis too, but those are at least the one
- 14:55Speaker 2: exception was amazing. We'll take some calls in a minute.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten is the
- 15:00Speaker 2: number if you want to talk about Ernie or anything else.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten is the number.

- 16:20Speaker 2: Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to Dennis and Brooklyn. Dennis,
- 16:23Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 16:24Speaker 4: You're doing good?
- 16:25Speaker 5: Thanks?
- 16:25Speaker 4: Mark?
- 16:26Speaker 5: Oh yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Uh.
- 16:27Speaker 5: The operations in Ivan, the military, naval and Air Force
- 16:31Speaker 5: operations have been going great. My concern is about the
- 16:35Speaker 5: There was a report last week about California being.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Hit with Yeah, let me just clear that up. The
- 16:41Speaker 2: report is totally false, apparently totally false. ABC News getting
- 16:45Speaker 2: a lot of flak from the White House for spreading
- 16:47Speaker 2: that story. Absolutely, I missed.
- 16:49Speaker 5: I missed that because Israel got hit with drones with
- 16:53Speaker 5: cluster bombs that there.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Are no no we know that the cluster bombs hit.
- 16:57Speaker 2: But here it is Caroline Levitt yesterday going after ABC
- 17:00Speaker 2: news completely false report about a possible drone strike against California.
- 17:07Speaker 2: White House spokesman called the report totally misleading, totally false,
- 17:12Speaker 2: and there's no credible threat from anything anything to do
- 17:17Speaker 2: with that. ABC News has yet to apologize for it.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Let's go to Mike in Florida. Mike, how you doing.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark guess Mike.
- 17:26Speaker 4: I used to work over at the CBS building there
- 17:30Speaker 4: for many many years, and there was a small restroom
- 17:34Speaker 4: in away from the studios that I would use invariably
- 17:38Speaker 4: I'd go in there and there would be Ernie doing,
- 17:41Speaker 4: you know, putting his own powder on. He wasn't makeup
- 17:44Speaker 4: per se, it was his powder and combing his hair
- 17:46Speaker 4: in the in the in the mirror, and it was
- 17:49Speaker 4: just like just showed how, you know, how down to
- 17:52Speaker 4: earth he was. You know that he wasn't one of
- 17:53Speaker 4: these criminatas in the Makeup chapter seven Hours like some
- 17:56Speaker 4: of the others over there, you know, and it was
- 17:59Speaker 4: always are always got to kick out of it. Yeah,
- 18:03Speaker 4: there he is.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Yeah, wonderful.
- 18:05Speaker 4: Yeah, a guy of his stature, you know, especially.
- 18:08Speaker 2: All right, Mike, great call. Yes, some guys, some of
- 18:10Speaker 2: the biggest stars like to do their own makeup. The
- 18:12Speaker 2: real reason is I do this myself. I put my
- 18:16Speaker 2: own makeup because if you sit in that chair, they're
- 18:18Speaker 2: all great, these makeup artists, they're really great. But you'll
- 18:21Speaker 2: be there for an hour and they'll put forty seven
- 18:23Speaker 2: thousand things on your face. They'll put endless stuff all
- 18:26Speaker 2: over your face. And then you need, like after the show,
- 18:29Speaker 2: you need easy off, like to get it off. It's
- 18:31Speaker 2: impossible and it goes all over your shirt and it's
- 18:34Speaker 2: a mess. But and most big, big, big, big, long long,
- 18:38Speaker 2: long time TV stars they knew exactly what they wanted
- 18:41Speaker 2: for makeup. They didn't want to have to explain it
- 18:44Speaker 2: to the makeup artists. They knew they want Max Studio
- 18:46Speaker 2: fixed thirty. Right here, I'm twenty five on this part
- 18:49Speaker 2: of their face. Let's go to Mike and bayside. Mike,
- 18:52Speaker 2: how you doing, Hey.
- 18:54Speaker 5: Good morning, Deflarian asked, this was a ridiculous legend.
- 18:59Speaker 6: It's kind of like a guy that.
- 19:00Speaker 4: You if you wanted the truth, you put him on.
- 19:02Speaker 7: And actually last night I was.
- 19:03Speaker 5: Having dinner with my mother and her girlfriend and.
- 19:07Speaker 4: They were devastated to hear that he died. Like you know,
- 19:10Speaker 4: older people, and you know you're talking about Johnny Carson.
- 19:13Speaker 6: You know, it would be great to have him around
- 19:16Speaker 6: to deal with because he doled it out.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Fifty to fifty, so he would he would definitely.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Make fun of Trump, but he would definitely make fun
- 19:22Speaker 2: of TDS people at LGBT, like he would kill both sides.
- 19:27Speaker 2: And yeah, that's the idea. You know. The only person
- 19:30Speaker 2: who does that today Jimmy Fayla. He got a great
- 19:33Speaker 2: show here every night at nine and Saturday nights on
- 19:36Speaker 2: the Fox News Channel ten o'clock. He does an opening monologue.
- 19:38Speaker 2: It's exactly like Carson fifty fifty, just like Jay Leno.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Half the jokes about the Democrats, half the jokes about
- 19:45Speaker 2: the Republicans. Now nobody knew if you could watch them
- 19:49Speaker 2: every night for twenty thirty years. Jay Leno, Johnny Carson
- 19:53Speaker 2: still had no idea where they stood politically, no idea.
- 19:57Speaker 2: And if you knew them, like I said about Ernie
- 20:00Speaker 2: knew him as well, it was like I know anybody, I
- 20:02Speaker 2: have no idea where he stood, blutely no idea. I
- 20:06Speaker 2: knew Johnny Carson. I got the feeling that in real
- 20:11Speaker 2: life he was slightly, like a million of them inch
- 20:14Speaker 2: to the left of center. But that's about it, Jay Leno.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I from knowing him, I think was slightly, maybe a
- 20:21Speaker 2: billionth of a point to the right of center. But
- 20:24Speaker 2: otherwise you couldn't tell. Let's go to Bonnie and Tom's river. Bonnie,
- 20:28Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 20:29Speaker 7: Hi, good morning, how are you good? My question is,
- 20:33Speaker 7: you know, with these shut well shut down it's so ridiculous.
- 20:38Speaker 7: Can't they put into law that whoever requests the shutdown
- 20:43Speaker 7: goes without pay just like everybody else.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good idea. People have talked about that
- 20:49Speaker 2: if there's any kind of government shutdow where people aren't
- 20:51Speaker 2: getting paid, Congress should stop getting paid. It's a very
- 20:53Speaker 2: very good idea would definitely speed things up. By the way,
- 20:57Speaker 2: this is Friday. At the end of the week, this'll
- 21:00Speaker 2: be the first week where DHS employees don't get a paycheck.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Things were in place to keep them paid for a while,
- 21:05Speaker 2: but this will be the first day TSA DHS don't
- 21:09Speaker 2: get their paycheck. We'll talk about the next hour, the
- 21:12Speaker 2: ridiculous shutdown that's going on now. They got to get
- 21:16Speaker 2: this fixed in the next couple of weeks because the
- 21:18Speaker 2: second week of April, their Congress has gone for Easter,
- 21:21Speaker 2: and I think they're gone the first They're gone like
- 21:23Speaker 2: the first two weeks of April, so they really only
- 21:26Speaker 2: got two weeks left to fix this. Hey, when we
- 21:28Speaker 2: come back to Great Entertainment Reporter Roger Friedman, we'll talk
- 21:31Speaker 2: about the oscars and a whole lot more just ahead
- 21:34Speaker 2: on seven to ten wor here's more marks alone on
- 21:38Speaker 2: seven to ten wor Well, Roger Friedman, The Great Entertainment
- 21:43Speaker 2: Reporter is website is Showbiz for one one dot com.
- 21:47Speaker 2: You should check it out everyday news stories, great stuff,
- 21:50Speaker 2: Showbize dot com. Roger Friedman, how.
- 21:53Speaker 1: You doing, I'm great. How are you this morning?
- 21:57Speaker 2: I'm good. Hey, you must have known Ernie Nastis.
- 22:01Speaker 6: I didn't really know him, but I loved him. Everyone
- 22:03Speaker 6: loved him. The outpouring of love for him is amazing.
- 22:06Speaker 6: I mean I met him a couple of times. I
- 22:08Speaker 6: see some nice pictures of you on Instagram with him.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but he was well you met him, you know,
- 22:12Speaker 2: he was just a very happy guy. He kind of
- 22:15Speaker 2: put a positive globe and every room he came into.
- 22:18Speaker 6: Yeah, and he was also what a career. I mean,
- 22:20Speaker 6: he was so popular. And you know, tastes change in television,
- 22:28Speaker 6: the television world and television news, and they're also looking
- 22:31Speaker 6: for the next big thing. But he was always the
- 22:34Speaker 6: next big thing because he did eleven years at one
- 22:36Speaker 6: station than twelve years at another station. So it was
- 22:40Speaker 6: like even when he you know, he just kept going
- 22:43Speaker 6: and going and going, and people loved watching him.
- 22:46Speaker 2: But there's no more big thing than local television. You know,
- 22:48Speaker 2: in the good old days, you had Chuck Scarbough, Roger Grimsby, Bill,
- 22:51Speaker 2: but tell you don't have that anymore. You can't.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I missed Roger Grimsby.
- 22:55Speaker 6: Yeah, Bill, Butell was a great guy.
- 22:59Speaker 1: By the way, Yeah, did you know him? Yeah, Bill,
- 23:02Speaker 1: he was a lovely He was a lovely guy, very.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Stern, somber newsman. But off the air was like this
- 23:08Speaker 2: wild nightclub guy. He was a lot of fun.
- 23:11Speaker 6: Yeah, he was just very He was a lot of fun,
- 23:13Speaker 6: very nice and a real newsman. But Ernie and asked
- 23:16Speaker 6: this was he was really the like the epitome of
- 23:19Speaker 6: New York. And they don't say why he passed, what
- 23:23Speaker 6: happened to him, But I hope he didn't have a
- 23:26Speaker 6: bad time.
- 23:27Speaker 2: I'd been sick for a little while and the final
- 23:28Speaker 2: cause was pneumonia.
- 23:31Speaker 6: Was yeah, but look at the outpouring of love for
- 23:34Speaker 6: him on all the stations last night and on all
- 23:39Speaker 6: of our social media.
- 23:40Speaker 1: It's just great. I mean, it's that's very rewarding.
- 23:44Speaker 2: You know, hey, let's talk about the Oscars. It's Sunday night,
- 23:47Speaker 2: the big Oscar ceremony. You know, Yes, like local TV news,
- 23:51Speaker 2: you knew every name, you knew the big anchors. Now
- 23:53Speaker 2: you don't know who they are. Same thing with the Oscars.
- 23:55Speaker 2: You had the list of presenters. I don't know who
- 23:57Speaker 2: half these people are.
- 23:59Speaker 6: Yeah, the list of presenters this year surprised me. But
- 24:03Speaker 6: I actually wrote about this a few months ago because
- 24:06Speaker 6: you could already tell that the actors who were going
- 24:09Speaker 6: to be nominated weren't that well known or weren't big
- 24:12Speaker 6: movie star movie stars, you know, and there was like
- 24:16Speaker 6: not a lot of glitz.
- 24:17Speaker 1: So I kept saying months.
- 24:19Speaker 6: Ago they better get in a lot of the old
- 24:22Speaker 6: Hollywood stars or the very well known brand name stars
- 24:26Speaker 6: while they're still alive, and get them in there to present.
- 24:30Speaker 1: But they didn't get any of them. The only thing
- 24:33Speaker 1: they're going.
- 24:33Speaker 6: To have that I know of so far is that
- 24:35Speaker 6: Barbara Streisand is going to speak for like a couple
- 24:38Speaker 6: of minutes about Robert Redford. But otherwise, and they certainly
- 24:43Speaker 6: my joke was My joke was for the in memorium.
- 24:46Speaker 6: They were not going to get Woody Allen for Diane Keaton.
- 24:50Speaker 2: I hate to break it you, but nobody under thirty
- 24:52Speaker 2: five is going to know who Barbara Streisand is.
- 24:55Speaker 1: No they do. She's like a big star, I don't
- 24:59Speaker 1: think so.
- 25:00Speaker 4: You have you have.
- 25:02Speaker 1: A list of stars.
- 25:05Speaker 6: When we were younger, we look forward to seeing Gregory
- 25:09Speaker 6: Peck and you know, Myrta Lloyd and all these great
- 25:12Speaker 6: stars come and give some glamour to the Oscars.
- 25:15Speaker 1: That's what it's supposed to be about.
- 25:17Speaker 6: But you know, the Oscars don't have that much glimber
- 25:19Speaker 6: anymore because people don't live in Hollywood.
- 25:22Speaker 1: They don't live in Los Angeles.
- 25:23Speaker 6: There isn't much production in Los Angeles and it's straining
- 25:28Speaker 6: for the movies, you know, to find a huge auguences.
- 25:32Speaker 6: I'll tell you what I'm excited about is maybe next
- 25:35Speaker 6: year's Oscars because Steven Spielberg has this movie coming out
- 25:39Speaker 6: in June called Disclosure Day, and they just dropped the trailer.
- 25:44Speaker 6: I have it on Showbiz four one one. This movie
- 25:47Speaker 6: looks fantastic. This movie looks like a return to Steven Spielberg,
- 25:51Speaker 6: you know, to et Close Encounters.
- 25:53Speaker 1: And I can't wait to see it. And I'll bet
- 25:56Speaker 1: it's a huge, huge hit.
- 25:57Speaker 2: What's a movie about.
- 25:59Speaker 6: It's a about UFOs and apparently, and the disclosure is
- 26:04Speaker 6: that they're finally going to tell the truth about whether
- 26:07Speaker 6: there have been UFOs, whether they've been aliens on Earth
- 26:10Speaker 6: for the last eighty years, and it's going to make
- 26:16Speaker 6: the UFO, you know, conspiracy people go crazy, absolutely crazy.
- 26:22Speaker 1: There's a show on the radio overnight, do you. I
- 26:25Speaker 1: don't know if you ever listened.
- 26:26Speaker 2: To it, Saucer Show. I don't really get to hear it.
- 26:29Speaker 1: I love that show, but normal people don't want to
- 26:33Speaker 1: hear that. You know.
- 26:35Speaker 6: People call it and they say they've been abducted by aliens,
- 26:37Speaker 6: they're up in spaceships, they've had meetings with them, and
- 26:41Speaker 6: this movie is going to make those people. It's going
- 26:44Speaker 6: to activate those people all over the world. I mean
- 26:47Speaker 6: that Coast to Coast should really have Steven Spielberg on.
- 26:50Speaker 6: But the movie looks fantastic and it looks like the
- 26:55Speaker 6: cousin of Close Encounters, but even more like you know, serious.
- 27:00Speaker 1: So I'm excited about that.
- 27:01Speaker 6: As far as the Oscars go this weekend, you know, yeah,
- 27:05Speaker 6: So it's very strange the presenters are. They're going for
- 27:08Speaker 6: very young and everyone's everyone's under fifty or fifty straining it.
- 27:16Speaker 6: But they don't have any of the big, big stars.
- 27:20Speaker 6: And I'm afraid that the biggest part of the show
- 27:21Speaker 6: is going to be the memoriam because you're going to
- 27:24Speaker 6: have Redford, Keaton, Gene Hackman, You're going to have all
- 27:28Speaker 6: these big people who died during the last year. And
- 27:32Speaker 6: that's a downer, do you know what I mean?
- 27:34Speaker 2: Hey, the only Oscar movie I saw was Marty Supreme.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Is that going to win anything?
- 27:40Speaker 6: Marty Supreme is a flashpoint now because Timothy Challome, the
- 27:45Speaker 6: star for a long time, was in the lead to
- 27:47Speaker 6: win Best Actor, but he has screwed up his Oscar
- 27:51Speaker 6: campaign in the most unhistoric way.
- 27:54Speaker 1: First, he started appearing in orange outfits.
- 27:58Speaker 6: They manufactured orange ping pong balls to go with it,
- 28:01Speaker 6: and everywhere he went. Plus he totes around Kardashian, this
- 28:05Speaker 6: Kylie Jenner, who Hollywood just can't stand, and she's always
- 28:10Speaker 6: dressed very trashy looking at all the award shows. He's
- 28:13Speaker 6: really killed his own career. And in the last couple
- 28:18Speaker 6: of weeks there's been like a monumental campaign against him
- 28:22Speaker 6: because he did an interview on CNN with Matthew McConaughey
- 28:25Speaker 6: and he said that he, you know, he made castigating
- 28:29Speaker 6: remarks about ballet and opera and said they, you know,
- 28:32Speaker 6: they weren't going to live on as forms of art.
- 28:35Speaker 1: And this made everyone angry at him.
- 28:38Speaker 2: So I feeling, have never been to an opera, ballet,
- 28:41Speaker 2: What are they getting so uptight about?
- 28:43Speaker 6: Well, but they didn't like the idea, and I think
- 28:47Speaker 6: that you're going to see Samothy Talla may not win
- 28:50Speaker 6: the Oscar this Sunday, which would be too bad because
- 28:53Speaker 6: he really deserved it. But there are other the other
- 28:56Speaker 6: people in the category are really good. You have Leonardo DiCaprio,
- 28:59Speaker 6: who could certainly when Michael B. Jordan from Sinners, who's excellent,
- 29:04Speaker 6: and Ethan Hawke, who's amazing in Blue Moon, a movie
- 29:07Speaker 6: you should rent on video and demand. So Marty Supreme
- 29:13Speaker 6: may have ping ponged its way out.
- 29:15Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Hey, we only got a minute left. What
- 29:18Speaker 2: about the Oscar parties? Did you write that they're kind
- 29:20Speaker 2: of downsizing a little the big parties?
- 29:22Speaker 6: Well, Vanity Fair, you know, Vanity Fair is not the
- 29:25Speaker 6: magazine that used to be, and they're struggling for circulation.
- 29:30Speaker 1: They've lost a lot of money.
- 29:31Speaker 6: They have a new editor who's very young, and they're
- 29:35Speaker 6: cutting the party in half, so they're moving to a
- 29:38Speaker 6: smaller locale and it's not going to be the big,
- 29:41Speaker 6: you know, pageant that it usually is. And yesterday the
- 29:44Speaker 6: editor did an interview where he said only people who
- 29:47Speaker 6: have who've won oscars can come, but the nominees should
- 29:51Speaker 6: forget it. So if you if you're not a different
- 29:55Speaker 6: Oscar and you lose, you can't come.
- 29:57Speaker 2: So trying to create some fake cash for the party.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Yeah, but there's it's not it's not.
- 30:04Speaker 6: Vavey Fair had a crescendo over the last twenty years
- 30:09Speaker 6: with Oscar parties, and you know, fantastic, fabulous people. And
- 30:13Speaker 6: now they stop by, they take a picture on the
- 30:15Speaker 6: red carpet and then they go to dinner.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, if you want to read more, go to
- 30:19Speaker 2: Roger Friedman's website. There's excellent stuff there, and there's new
- 30:21Speaker 2: stuff every day show bizfo one one dot com. Make

- 30:37Speaker 2: a wonderful show every day from noon to three. Then
- 30:39Speaker 2: you got the most listened to radio show in America,
- 30:42Speaker 2: Sean Hannity at three. And you got to listen to
- 30:44Speaker 2: our new show, Jimmy Fayala every night nine o'clock nine
- 30:47Speaker 2: to midnight. Real good show, very funny. And don't forget
- 30:50Speaker 2: Curtis is now here Curtis Leewa every morning with Larry
- 30:53Speaker 2: Menti on seven to ten wo.
- 30:56Speaker 1: R Mark's Emotion on seven.
- 31:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:02Speaker 2: So the oscars there Sunday night a week one week
- 31:08Speaker 2: from spring beginning. This is the last week of summer.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Then right after that you can have baseball opening day. Hey,
- 31:14Speaker 2: there's a lot of people upset because the Yankee Opening
- 31:18Speaker 2: Day broadcast will be Netflix only. It's not going to
- 31:22Speaker 2: be on television, it'll Netflix only. I would think most
- 31:25Speaker 2: people have Netflix, but a lot of people speaking that,
- 31:29Speaker 2: even Michael Kay, the Yankee announcer, and a lot of
- 31:31Speaker 2: people baseball purists especially, they can't stand this at the
- 31:36Speaker 2: opening game of the Yankees because that's a big game.
- 31:38Speaker 2: A lot of pageantry and ceremony and a lot of
- 31:40Speaker 2: important stuff will not be broadcast. It'll be Netflix only. Now,
- 31:45Speaker 2: you can't blame the Yankees because obviously Netflix paid off
- 31:48Speaker 2: fortune for that exclusive. Hey, we'll be back in the
- 31:52Speaker 2: next hour. Miranda Divine will be with us. We've got
- 31:55Speaker 2: lots to talk about. And don't forget I'm here every
- 31:58Speaker 2: day ten to noon fo or listen anytime get the podcast.
- 32:02Speaker 2: And by the way, if your a podcast listener, there's
- 32:04Speaker 2: a bonus segment on the weekends back after the news
- 32:07Speaker 2: seven Woo
