  So Doreen is a born again Christian now and was saved out of the new age deception in

  But she spent decades and decades in she was in Christian science.

  She went into the new age and she was one of the top selling new age authors and speakers.

  Thanks for spending your time with us here for this short portion today.

  We want to talk about this because a lot of people are talking about it manifesting manifestation.

  And a lot of our audience, I don't know completely understand.
• 2:10
  Where does this come from?
• 2:11
  Is this new age?
• 2:12
  Is it positive thinking?
• 2:14
  Is what is manifestation or manifesting?
• 2:18
  Well, manifesting is a man-centered theory and practice that we, just like the serpent
• 2:24
  promised Eve in Genesis 3, that we can be our own God for females.
• 2:30
  Sometimes we're said to be our own goddess, that we're the creator and it was popularized
• 2:35
  back in the 1800s by an American spiritualist named Andrew Jackson Davis.
• 2:41
  He was the first one to use the term the law of attraction.
• 2:44
  And then about 11 years later, Helena Blavotsky, who was the proponent of theosophy, which
• 2:51
  was saying that Lucifer was a misunderstood deity and that he was a hero, I mean, just
• 2:58
  devil worship, basically.
• 2:59
  And the whole theory of manifesting a law of attraction is that our thoughts create
• 3:04
  our reality and that if we can just control our thoughts, that we can outpicture, we can
• 3:09
  attract and we can banish our hearts' desires.
• 3:13
  And it's according to our will, nobody ever checks in with God's will or if they do
• 3:18
  it's just a nod.
• 3:19
  They twist scripture to justify this.
• 3:21
  They even blasphemously claim that Jesus taught manifesting and the law of attraction.
• 3:26
  And that's how I was raised, David, in Christian science, the belief is that we can use our
• 3:31
  thoughts to create health.
• 3:33
  And then, of course, in the word of faith movement, it's taught that your words and your thoughts
• 3:38
  create wealth.
• 3:39
  And it just bypasses that God is sovereign.
• 3:43
  He's the creator.
• 3:44
  I mean, when we look at the book of Job and the final chapter is God in paraphrasing
• 3:49
  God, he says, where were you when I hung the stars in the sky?
• 3:52
  Where were you when I filled the ocean with water?
• 3:55
  We can't create worlds with our words.
• 3:58
  So devil can sometimes masquerade as an angel of light.
• 4:02
  I think Corinthians 11 and 14 says that.
• 4:04
  And so the devil may take advantage of people who are engaged in these new age occultic
• 4:09
  practices to seem to bring your wishes to you, to hook you in even further.
• 4:14
  And that's why it's dangerous.
• 4:15
  The other reason it's dangerous is because it teaches this positive thinking, mind control,
• 4:23
  it's not only toxic, it's also dangerous to sharing the gospel.
• 4:27
  That was what was going on with me.
• 4:29
  I was 59 years old before I was convicted finally that I was a sinner because my whole
• 4:35
  life I was taught mind control to only think of myself in positive terms.
• 4:39
  So when I'd hear the gospel that I was a sinner, I would immediately block that with
• 4:44
  a positive affirmation.
• 4:46
  And the God used Deuteronomy 18 to finally convict my heart, praise the Lord, that I like
• 4:52
  every one of us is a sinner and that I needed a savior.
• 4:57
  I needed Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior.
• 5:00
  By the way, I do want to mention, I didn't mention your book, you're an author.
• 5:03
  Obviously your book deceived no more came out in 2020.

  It's got hundreds of five star reviews on Amazon.

  So back to the video you did with Good Fight, you are in that throughout being

  It was fascinating to me.

  Everyone from Hollywood celebrities is into this manifesting.

  They're starting you to use the lingo now.

  Obviously they probably have been for a while.
• 6:03
  If it's been around for so long, professional athletes,
• 6:08
  quarterbacks, big stars on the football field, manifesting it.
• 6:12
  It is.
• 6:13
  It's it's just trying to put thoughts out there and create your own reality.
• 6:17
  Basically, they're trying to control their own destiny, right, Doreen?
• 6:22
  That's right.
• 6:22
  Yeah.
• 6:23
  And I think that, you know, so you look at a baseball player or someone who's
• 6:27
  a professional skier, they might visualize having a good game.
• 6:31
  I think that could be harmless.
• 6:33
  It could be a doorway to going into these occultic doctrines.
• 6:37
  But when we're talking about manifesting and the secret and law of attraction,
• 6:42
  there's this global view that your entire life is under your control.
• 6:46
  And it just obliterates the fact that God is sovereign and that we are commanded
• 6:51
  to trust in the Lord and lean not on our own understanding.
• 6:55
  So it puts us in the place of God to say that everything in our life,
• 6:59
  we can attract through our thoughts.
• 7:02
  And it also puts this, this burden on us that if we have a negative thought
• 7:07
  or are around a negative person or watch the news that we're going to
• 7:12
  mismanifest, we're going to attract something negative.
• 7:15
  And so it blames people.
• 7:17
  If you, it's just like jokes, so-called friends, if you've got a problem,
• 7:22
  it's your fault because you thought something negative.
• 7:25
  And so what this does is it shipwrecks people's faith in God.
• 7:29
  It puts, it makes them nervous because then all of a sudden, your God,
• 7:33
  it's so much pressure to always think positive in this negative world.
• 7:37
  It's almost impossible.
• 7:39
  So you end up never reading the news.
• 7:41
  You can't read any kind of social media because if someone might share the news,
• 7:46
  so you have to unfollow a bunch of people who share the news.
• 7:49
  In your personal relationships, you can't share what's on your heart
• 7:53
  because that's negative.
• 7:54
  You can't say, hey, look, I've got this challenge going on when you pray for me.
• 7:58
  You're not allowed to do that when you get into this manifesting because you're
• 8:01
  not allowed to admit to yourself or others.
• 8:04
  You have problems because that's negative.
• 8:06
  And people will say, they'll charge you.
• 8:08
  They'll say, oh, you're throwing shade on us.
• 8:10
  You know, what a bad vibe you've got.
• 8:12
  You know, you're so negative and they'll, they'll shun you if you start doing this.
• 8:16
  So as a result, David, your relationships become extremely superficial.
• 8:22
  All you say all the time is, I'm fine.
• 8:24
  Or you use the tagline, the positive affirmation.
• 8:28
  I'm perfect, whole and complete.
• 8:30
  And you're trying to believe that a lot of people who get into this are people
• 8:34
  who are searching for fulfillment.
• 8:37
  They're searching for identity.
• 8:39
  They're searching for peace.
• 8:40
  And you can't find that through what is the problem ourselves or sinful selves.
• 8:45
  The only solution, of course, is through Christ on the cross who died for us as a
• 8:50
  sinless, holy God, holy man of the Son of God, the second person of the Holy Trinity.
• 8:56
  And he died on the cross because he was the only person who was qualified to take
• 9:00
  the wrath that we all deserve.
• 9:03
  Even if we think that's negative, we all deserve God's wrath for our sins.
• 9:07
  But God and his mercy sent Jesus in our place.
• 9:10
  And of course, we know Jesus died on the cross.
• 9:12
  And he was buried in a tomb as prophesied in three days later.
• 9:16
  He was risen bodily and people ate with him and talked with him and touched him.
• 9:21
  And then, of course, God took him to heaven.
• 9:23
  He ascended and he's at the right hand of our father, God.
• 9:27
  Jesus is God.
• 9:28
  He's the second person of our co-equal, co-eternal three and one father, son and holy
• 9:32
  spirit, holy Trinity.
• 9:34
  That's the good news that brings us peace, not manifesting a new car or a soulmate.
• 9:40
  So I was reading a little bit.
• 9:41
  You mentioned, obviously, thank you, the gospel that Jesus did bodily, resurrect.
• 9:47
  And he was ascended into heaven.
• 9:49
  He did have a physical body.
• 9:50
  He even ate food in front of his disciples, saying of spirit does not have flesh and bone
• 9:55
  as you see, I have, but gnosticism, the roots of this philosophy on theosophy can
• 10:02
  be traced back to gnosticism.
• 10:04
  It's got a little bit of Greek philosophy, medieval mysticism, Hinduism, even.
• 10:11
  Talking a little bit about that because gnosticism, they believe that the physical
• 10:17
  was bad spirit was good.
• 10:19
  Do I have that right?
• 10:20
  Yes, that's how I was raised in Christian science, which is neo-nostic.
• 10:24
  And so the belief is that the material is unreal or evil, depending on what branch of
• 10:30
  gnosticism you're in.
• 10:31
  And so you only pay attention to spirit.
• 10:33
  And they wrongly said that Jesus's resurrection from the dead was spirit only.
• 10:39
  And that's what you see Paul confronting in Colossians.
• 10:42
  And you see John in his first epistle, chapter four, he said that we have to test the
• 10:48
  spirit.
• 10:48
  And if they do not confess that Jesus rose from the dead in bodily form, that that's
• 10:54
  the spirit of the anti-Christ.
• 10:55
  So therefore, this manifesting, this gnosticism, all the neo-nostic philosophies are
• 11:02
  anti-Christ philosophies and should be marked and avoided.
• 11:06
  So I wanted to just want to share a mention of scripture.
• 11:09
  You've mentioned Colossians and in this context, there's one verse that I love,
• 11:13
  chapter two, verse eight, which says, see to it that no one takes you captive through
• 11:19
  philosophy and empty deception according to the tradition of men,
• 11:25
  according to the elementary principles of the world rather than according to
• 11:29
  Christ.
• 11:30
  And then it says for in him, all the fullness of deity dwells in bodily form and it goes on,
• 11:36
  but we've got to take a very quick break.

  I don't know if they can be used interchangeably, but a lot of even people in the church,

  I use, I guess that word loosely, have been deceived by teachings and ideas from the secret,
• 12:26
  your thoughts on how this has crept into the evangelical church in America.
• 12:32
  Yeah, it's tragic how much new age and occultism is in the church and people are unaware.
• 12:39
  And it's one of the reasons I'm and others are sounding the alarm to mark and avoid these
• 12:44
  practices.
• 12:45
  I toured with the main proponent of the secret, Esther Hicks, she was known as Abraham Hicks,
• 12:52
  four years, and we have the same publisher, super nice lady.
• 12:57
  I mean, I can't say anything against her personally, I have no vendetta against her personally,
• 13:01
  but where she got this information was through trans channeling of this,
• 13:06
  what she calls an entity group called Abraham, and there's this legion of spirits.
• 13:11
  And what does that remind you of that comes through and says that we are God and that you,
• 13:17
  you should absolutely follow the desires of your heart and you deserve it.
• 13:21
  The universe wants you to have the desires of your heart.
• 13:23
  I mean, just absolutely what Satan promised in the Garden of Eden through the serpent.
• 13:29
  And it's dangerous.
• 13:31
  And then I actually have a video on my YouTube, David, that has Joel Osteen next to Abraham Hicks,
• 13:38
  Esther Hicks, saying the exact same thing, where that somehow there's this belief that God wants us to be rich with,
• 13:46
  you know, I mean, you can God will meet our needs.
• 13:49
  Clearly, he promises that, but that's different than our wants, which can be a burden,
• 13:54
  because when I, before I was saved, I used all of these methods.
• 13:59
  I used the law of attraction.
• 14:00
  I used vision boards and positive affirmations.
• 14:03
  And it did work to a degree, like how the sorcerers work to a degree in Pharaoh's court.
• 14:09
  And so my husband and I seemed to have a lot of success.
• 14:13
  I had a successful career from a worldly standpoint.
• 14:17
  It was teaching deception.
• 14:18
  I regret it.
• 14:19
  I apologize and repent for it every day.
• 14:22
  But from a worldly standpoint, we had this 50 acre ranch and why we were buying, you know,
• 14:27
  we had the car and seemed to have the friends and everywhere we went, first class,
• 14:31
  limousines, four star hotel, bent out suites, you know, it just seemed like we had it all.
• 14:37
  So the appeal there is very fleshly and worldly.
• 14:41
  But every night after I would give a sold out workshop to a standing room only
• 14:48
  and a standing ovation, I would go back to the hotel room and there'd be this emptiness.
• 14:53
  And I would be seeking, seeking something to fill it.
• 14:55
  So I would end up shopping online or eating something, you know, trying to fill it.
• 15:00
  When all along, I had that Bible, since I was a kid, and there was everything that I needed
• 15:06
  for learning about the truth.
• 15:08
  And of course, it all points to Jesus on the cross.
• 15:12
  And one of the things that Christians do, especially when we get toward the New Year's
• 15:17
  resolution time is they, they scripture, they twist the scripture of Habakkuk 2 2.
• 15:23
  So I just want to read that real quick so they can announce that.
• 15:26
  So Habakkuk 2 2, of course, Habakkuk being one of the prophets, he received from God,
• 15:31
  write the vision, make it plain on tablets.
• 15:34
  So he may run who reads it.
• 15:36
  So it's a command to write down what God is telling him, which we see in the other
• 15:42
  prophets, books too.
• 15:43
  We see that in Ezekiel and Isaiah, for example.
• 15:45
  But the people who are twisting it are saying that that points to making a vision board,
• 15:52
  which actually, it makes me laugh because there's no way.
• 15:55
  And I can't, I mean, I can sort of see it.
• 15:58
  But the vision that the prophet Habakkuk was getting was from God.
• 16:02
  That was God breathed scripture.
• 16:04
  It wasn't like modern vision boards that I used to make our poster board that you
• 16:09
  paste photographs from magazines of your car, your dream car, your dream relationship,
• 16:15
  your dream vacation, your dream career, and you write words on it.
• 16:19
  And then you're supposed to look at it every day and then keep your thoughts on that
• 16:23
  and you will attract it and manifest it.
• 16:24
  And actually, I used to do that and it would work.
• 16:28
  So that's the trick is that the devil is a counter fitter.
• 16:32
  And so I would attract some of the things on my vision board.
• 16:36
  But you know what, they're all gone.
• 16:38
  Every one of them, it's a mirage and it's a trap.
• 16:41
  It's actually so dangerous.
• 16:43
  And none of them brought me the piece that Jesus had.
• 16:46
  None of them brought me the answers that I was looking for.
• 16:48
  And I found in the Bible Jesus is the way the truth in the life.
• 16:52
  No one comes to the father except through him.
• 16:54
  Seeky first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.
• 16:57
  And then all these other things will be added to you.
• 17:00
  I want to mention this idea of following your heart, Doreen, some of the worst
• 17:04
  advice in the world.
• 17:05
  If you're Christian, especially because the heart is wicked and beyond cure.
• 17:09
  And there's a Psalm 37 that people have taken out of context like God is a
• 17:15
  genie in a bottle saying God will give you the desires of your heart.
• 17:19
  I've heard I'm glad you mentioned Joel Osteen.
• 17:21
  Thank you because we need to call these people out that are saying these things
• 17:25
  are encouraging people to visualize.
• 17:28
  And you know, he'll give you the desires of your heart.
• 17:30
  You just need to imagine that's and this is not biblically based teaching.
• 17:35
  But the prosperity gospel, dangerous.
• 17:38
  I often wonder if they believe in health and wealth and healing and everything
• 17:42
  else, you know, are they giving money to children's hospitals?
• 17:45
  Are they going into some of these hospitals, laying hands and healing kids?
• 17:48
  You know, you don't see any of that.
• 17:50
  But Doreen, your thoughts on this idea about following your heart and
• 17:54
  that God can give you your desires.
• 17:55
  And that's what's going on in some churches.
• 17:58
  Yeah.
• 17:58
  I'm a poster child of why we shouldn't do that.

  I did that my whole life.
• 18:03
  I was taught positive affirmations by my new age parents growing up and to visualize
• 18:09
  and again, it seems to work, but it's at what cost and how is it working?
• 18:15
  We need to be looking behind the scenes by following my heart.
• 18:19
  I had the most horrible life choices that I made that are unbiblical and
• 18:23
  against God's will.
• 18:24
  But they were my, I thought they were my will at the time.
• 18:28
  And I have such consequences from my past sins.
• 18:32
  I've been forgiven.
• 18:33
  Absolutely.
• 18:34
  Jesus shed blood on the cross forgave my sins.
• 18:37
  However, we have consequences for our sins.
• 18:40
  And one of the consequences I'm dealing with is that my old work is still out there.
• 18:45
  And you know, I wanted to be successful and it happened.
• 18:47
  And now I'm dealing with all this false teaching that I made that's still
• 18:52
  out there because other people licensed it.
• 18:54
  My kids, my poor kids are suffering every day because they were raised in the
• 18:59
  new age.
• 18:59
  And I shipwrecked my own life.
• 19:02
  God is, you know, he, he's picking up the pieces, praise the Lord.
• 19:07
  But I just want to say to anybody, do not go on the path of following your heart
• 19:12
  or the secret or law of attraction.
• 19:13
  If you need something, pray for God to give you wisdom and he will.
• 19:19
  And the prayers of the righteous are effective, but it might not be what you
• 19:23
  want.
• 19:23
  If we have to trust in the Lord with all of our heart and lean not on our own
• 19:26
  understanding, what God's will for you might be to take you through a season
• 19:30
  of suffering so that we lean on Him.
• 19:33
  Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 1, 8 and 9 to, to know that we need God, that we have
• 19:38
  to lean on Him and that we are not our own God.
• 19:43
  So Doreen, I wanted to ask you about something you said earlier and that was
• 19:46
  trans-channeling.
• 19:49
  You don't hear that a lot.
• 19:51
  And when I heard that, I thought, I remember interviews with J.K.
• 19:56
  Rowling getting the Harry Potter books through these voices through
• 20:00
  channeling or whatever.
• 20:01
  And I thought about that and went, man, that's demonic.
• 20:03
  Your thoughts, can you explain trans-channeling a little bit more?
• 20:07
  Yeah, it's trans.
• 20:08
  It's not T.R. and S. It's T.R. and C.E.
• 20:10
  So the person is not consciously aware of where they are.
• 20:14
  Oh, they're in a trance trance.
• 20:16
  You lose consciousness of your surroundings and you're a mediator for the
• 20:20
  demonic coming through you and then you type it or speak it.
• 20:24
  And that's how Jesus calling was made.
• 20:26
  That's how conversations with God was made.
• 20:29
  That's how my books were made.
• 20:31
  The Abraham Hicks books that are the pinnacle part of the secret.
• 20:36
  I mean, we have to be so careful.
• 20:38
  And that people will say, well, that's how the Bible was written.
• 20:40
  No, the Bible was God breathed and it's 100% accurate.
• 20:45
  What is coming through the trans-channeling is devil breathed and it's inaccurate.
• 20:50
  It will not, it will not point you to Christ.
• 20:53
  It will not point you to a Biblically Sound Church.
• 20:56
  It will not point you to study the Bible.
• 20:58
  And those are the things that we need in order to live a fruitful, godly life and to be saved.

  So help us find a balance here.

  Because I remember early on in this conversation, you said, if I think you used the
• 21:12
  analogy of an athlete visualizing a good performance, there's nothing, you know, good or evil about that.
• 21:20
  That's, that's a neutral.
• 21:21
  Yeah.
• 21:21
  And I think Stain positive is is biblical to a degree.
• 21:25
  But where it becomes an idol is when you think that your positive thoughts are the creator.
• 21:30
  Okay.
• 21:31
  That's very clear that you are creating this new reality for yourself or something like that.
• 21:37
  Because there are some verses, I think, where I just came across one earlier.
• 21:42
  Let's see, a cheerful heart is good medicine.
• 21:45
  I mean, good, good thoughts, positive thoughts about yourself, about health.
• 21:51
  Just about life in general can affect your health, just like worry and fear and thinking a certain way
• 21:58
  every day can affect you could give you ulcers.
• 22:00
  I mean, that can actually cause some things that would affect your health in a bad way.
• 22:04
  So there is some truth to that.
• 22:06
  But we're trying to be biblical about what is godly in this life and how Christians,
• 22:12
  because that's the context here, we're talking to Bible believing Christians here, how we can live our lives
• 22:17
  and not get caught up in some of the what we're talking about, the manifesting and trying to create your own reality.
• 22:23
  Because that will take you down a path.
• 22:24
  As you said, thank you for sharing and being vulnerable about the mistakes you've made.
• 22:29
  And hopefully people can learn from them.
• 22:31
  Just during your thoughts about manifesting anything else you want to share.
• 22:35
  We've just got about four minutes left.

  Well, the hinge point is idolatry.
• 22:40
  That's what we're warned about.
• 22:41
  That's what's a sin that we have to just avoid and and every day pray for a god to purify our hearts and our our intentions.

  Because when we make ourselves on the throne instead of Jesus as the creator, we're idolizing ourselves.
• 22:58
  It's the analogy is that there are crystals in the Bible that God created and so everything God created is good.
• 23:06
  But people make crystals into idols in the new age and think they have magical powers.
• 23:11
  It's identical to thinking that our thoughts have magical powers and that they can banish or attract according to our will.
• 23:20
  And following our will is as we've been discussing, David, is it just leads us to dead ends and even worse.

  I would say that it's a path to hell and it leads us away from the true gospel that we are sinners who all need Jesus.

  And that's not negative.
• 23:36
  That's that's part of the good news.
• 23:38
  The good news.
• 23:38
  Yeah, yes, you need to hear the bad news, so to speak, like we are all sinners and in need of a savior.
• 23:45
