- 2:58be allowed in Boston? Tensions are rising over
- 3:01plans to introduce autonomous vehicles in the
- 3:04city. The City Council is considering an ordinance
- 3:08that would impose heavy restrictions on these
- 3:10services, particularly concerning the company
- 3:13Waymo. which began test drives in May. Concerns
- 3:17regarding safety and potential job losses have
- 3:20sparked discussions, leading to a rally outside
- 3:23Boston City Hall. Council members proposed an
- 3:27advisory board to evaluate the impacts of these
- 3:30vehicles on jobs and public safety. Waymo opposes
- 3:34the ordinance, claiming it would ban fully autonomous
- 3:37vehicles. Disability advocates argue that supporting
- 3:42Waymo would promote innovation and accessibility
- 3:45in Boston. Now on to sports. Damon Jones, a former
- 3:55NBA player and assistant coach, has found himself
- 3:58at the center of a significant betting scandal.
- 4:02He is accused of leaking inside information to
- 4:04sports bettors using his friendship with LeBron
- 4:07James. Jones was arrested last week as part of
- 4:11a federal investigation into an illegal gambling
- 4:15ring linked to organized crime. Prosecutors allege
- 4:19he sold information before at least two Lakers
- 4:22games, including a tip regarding James' injury
- 4:25status. Now, Jones faces serious legal issues,
- 4:29having been advised by prosecutors to refrain
- 4:32from gambling due to his very serious gambling
- 4:35problem. Now on to the World Series. This one
- 4:39didn't go to 18 innings, but it was still a good
- 4:42one. The Jays beat the Dodgers 6 -2 and tie up
- 4:46the series at 2 a piece. They remain in Los Angeles
- 4:51for Game 5 tonight, with Jespage facing Blake
- 4:54Snell at 8 Eastern on Fox. In local sports, the
- 5:00New England Patriots just secured rising defensive
- 5:03star Marcus Jones well ahead of rivals. This
- 5:07season, the Patriots' secondary was under close
- 5:10scrutiny, particularly with the anticipated return
- 5:13of Christian Gonzalez following an off -season
- 5:16injury. With newly signed free agent Carlton
- 5:20Davis III and a strong group including Marcus
- 5:23Jones, expectations were high. Jones has emerged
- 5:27as a superstar, showcasing his value in all three
- 5:31phases of the game. The Patriots officially announced
- 5:35his contract extension, a strategic move given
- 5:38his pivotal role. His importance is recognized
- 5:42not only by fans, but also by teammates, including
- 5:45Gonzalez. In top news, food stamp funding is
- 5:52set to run out in a matter of days amid the country's
- 5:55second longest government shutdown, leaving struggling
- 5:58Americans without financial assistance during
- 6:01a period of higher grocery prices. The United
- 6:04States Department of Agriculture which operates
- 6:07the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program,
- 6:10more commonly known as SNAP, stated that, at
- 6:13this time, there will be no benefits issued November
- 6:161st. SNAP participants receive an average of
- 6:21about $187 per month. Public Policy Professor
- 6:26Luke Schaefer warned that many may face tough
- 6:29choices, saying, am I going to pay my rent, or
- 6:32am I going to eat this month? Contingency funding
- 6:36remains available, but the agency claims it cannot
- 6:39use that money for regular benefits. In business
- 6:44news, Sora has lost its App Store crown to Dave's
- 6:49Hot Chicken. This popular app has taken the top
- 6:53spot, ending Sora's impressive weeks -long reign.
- 6:57Since its launch on September 30th, Sora dominated
- 7:01the charts due to its user -friendly AI video
- 7:04generation. However, on Friday, it was dethroned
- 7:08by Dave's Hot Chicken, which is running a promotion
- 7:11for free sliders to celebrate Drake's birthday.
- 7:16This promotion resulted in 343 ,531 new accounts
- 7:21in a single day. Dave's is not alone in leveraging
- 7:25free offerings. Many quick service chains have
- 7:28succeeded similarly. As digital sales rise, maintaining
- 7:32direct customer relationships becomes increasingly
- 7:36vital. In crypto movement, Bitcoin is down 0
- 7:40.5 % to about $113 ,000. Ethereum is down 3 %
- 7:47to just under $4 ,000. And XRP is down 1 % to
- 7:53$2 .62. Moving on to a more local vibe. In our

- 8:39Morning sent you by. And now, back to the show.
- 8:44Let's talk tech. Skimmers are targeting Americans
- 8:48in a clever new debit card scheme. While many
- 8:52believe credit cards are the most targeted payment
- 8:54method, it is actually debit cards that fraudsters
- 8:57pursue the most. A recent Federal Reserve survey
- 9:01indicates a rise in such cases. One bizarre scheme
- 9:05involves victims being told to destroy their
- 9:08debit cards while leaving the chip intact. Skimmers
- 9:12then collect these cards using social engineering
- 9:14to obtain PIN numbers and access bank accounts.
- 9:19Consumers are at greater risk of loss with debit
- 9:21cards as funds are withdrawn immediately upon
- 9:24unauthorized access. To protect yourself, monitor
- 9:29your accounts regularly and avoid sharing sensitive
- 9:32information. And in entertainment news, some
- 9:39people are good at making hit television and
- 9:41streaming shows. Taylor Sheridan is really good
- 9:45at it, as he is the creator of Yellowstone, Landman
- 9:49and more. That is why it is surprising that he
- 9:52is leaving Paramount. which was counting on him
- 9:55to create more hits for Comcast. Sheridan is
- 9:59arguably the most powerful creator in television
- 10:02and streaming today, generating a reported $2
- 10:05.9 billion in revenue from Yellowstone alone.
- 10:10It is a puzzling decision, especially for Paramount's
- 10:13new owner, David Ellison, who knows the value
- 10:16of a single megastar. Well, alrighty folks, it's
- 10:21time for the quote of the day. And today, our
- 10:25quote comes from the American poet and author
- 10:28T .S. Eliot. And he said, And that's a wrap for
