- 0:04The red light on. I'm just waiting for the change.
- 0:10Welcome back to the Slippery Slope podcast.
- 0:12I am Jay Fallon, obviously. So today I want to talk about
- 0:17what's going on this week. Hey, obviously we had this
- 0:19address by the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese.
- 0:24So I want to talk about something that I've covered
- 0:25before, but it's becoming impossible to ignore it.
- 0:29We are watching what I believe is the rise of what I will call
- 0:33soft totalitarianism. It's not the old school thought
- 0:38authoritarianism with, you know, with tanks or in tanks in the
- 0:44streets and soldiers at your door.
- 0:46Now this is it's a modern Western version.
- 0:50It's subtle, It's polished, it's wrapped in the language of
- 0:55safety misinformation for the public good.
- 0:59And the the national address delivered by your PM Anthony
- 1:04Albanese the other night is a perfect example of how this
- 1:09works. So let me be clear, this isn't,
- 1:13it's not about attacking the man, the one man.
- 1:17This is about analysing a pattern of leadership that has
- 1:21become common across Western democracies.
- 1:25A a pattern where governments increasingly rely on fear,
- 1:30urgency and crisis framing to shape public behaviour.
- 1:37Because when you can control the narrative, you don't need to
- 1:42control the people by force, they control themselves.
- 1:47So Albanese appears on every major television network.
- 1:52It's a rare prime time national address to warn Australians
- 1:56about a looming fuel crisis triggered by conflict in the
- 2:00Middle East. He tells us to expect months of
- 2:04economic pain. He urges people not to panic,
- 2:08not to panic buy fuel. He encourages us to use public
- 2:12transport where possible. You know, now on the surface
- 2:17that sounds like reasonable leadership, but when you look
- 2:21deeper, you, you can see the cracks because this so-called
- 2:24crisis didn't appear out of nowhere.
- 2:28It was predictable, it was foreseeable, it was preventable.
- 2:33Australia has known for years that we have no meaningful fuel
- 2:39security, no long term reserves, no domestic refining capacity
- 2:46and no diversified supply chain. So experts have warned about
- 2:52this repeatedly. Defence analysts have warned,
- 2:56economists have warned about it, even the government's own
- 2:59reports have warned. But nothing's changed.
- 3:03Because if nothing changes, then nothing will change.
- 3:06And now, when the consequences finally arrive, the government
- 3:10frames it as an unavoidable, an unavoidable emergency.
- 3:17And we're told to stay calm, trust the process, avoid
- 3:21misinformation. This is the pattern.
- 3:24This is the script. This is soft totalitarianism.
- 3:29And that's control through fear, not force.
- 3:33Soft totalitarianism doesn't need to break down your door.
- 3:37It just needs to break down your confidence.
- 3:41It uses fear based messaging, vague warnings.
- 3:46We've seen that building. Obviously we all remember what
- 3:49happened just a few years ago in the great Plan Demic that went
- 3:53on these vague warnings. You know everyone if you don't
- 3:56do this absolute catastrophe for you and everyone.
- 4:00But it's all very vague emotional appeals, crisis
- 4:06language, and the constant reminder that the government
- 4:10knows best. What I believe is the government
- 4:13is replacing God. The government is put themselves
- 4:16in there as God. They ignored God, they've denied
- 4:19God, they've denied the existence of God, but they've
- 4:22placed themselves as God. It's it's not do this or else.
- 4:29It's do this because it's safe. It's do this because
- 4:34misinformation is dangerous. And it's do this because we're
- 4:38all in this together. We're all in this together.
- 4:41So come on, let's go and do this.
- 4:43And the moment you question it, you're told you're being
- 4:46irresponsible or paranoid or spreading misinformation.
- 4:50This is how modern governments expand control without ever,
- 4:55ever appearing authoritarian. They don't force compliance,
- 5:01they manufacture it. And this all brings me to the
- 5:05second part of this episode, the manufactured crisis.
- 5:09Industry, governments and media have learned something very
- 5:13powerful. Fear is the most the most
- 5:17effective political currency in the world.
- 5:20Fear keeps people compliance. Fear keeps people distracted.
- 5:25Fear keeps people dependent on authority.
- 5:29So what do we see? A constant cycle of new
- 5:33emergencies, new warnings, new threats, new reasons to stay
- 5:38informed, new justifications for government intervention.
- 5:43And the Albanese address fits perfectly into this pattern.
- 5:47Instead of long term planning, we get last minute warnings.
- 5:53Instead of leadership, we get crisis managements.
- 5:57Instead of vision, we get fear. And the media, the media
- 6:02amplifies it because fear sells. Fear keeps people watching.
- 6:07Fear keeps people clicking. Fear keeps people anxious, and
- 6:11anxious people are easier to influence.
- 6:15This is not accidental. This is not random.
- 6:18This is a system that they've created.
- 6:25So this is how I see Australia's leadership and what Australia's
- 6:30leadership problem is, and I've spoken about this a lot when
- 6:33I've talked about issues within the Queensland Police and that
- 6:37is the leadership has no vision, there's no planning, there's no
- 6:41risk assessments. He's the uncomfortable truth.
- 6:44Australia does not do long term planning.
- 6:48We don't do serious risk assessments.
- 6:51We don't prepare for predictable crises.
- 6:56We react, we scramble, we blame external forces, and then, and
- 7:02then we act shocked when the consequences arrive.
- 7:06Whether it's fires, floods, pandemics, supply chain failures
- 7:10or fuel shortages, we always seem to be caught off guard.
- 7:15This isn't bad luck. This is bad leadership.
- 7:19Leadership requires foresight. Leadership requires courage.
- 7:23Leadership requires the willingness to make hard
- 7:26decisions before the crisis hits, not after.
- 7:31And that's what we are missing. Now let's bring this back to
- 7:38Scripture because the Bible speaks directly to this moment.
- 7:42The Bible warns repeatedly about deception, false assurances, and
- 7:48the misuse of power. It tells us to be discerning, to
- 7:52test everything, and to avoid being swept up in fear.
- 7:57And then there's the verse that cuts right through the heart of
- 8:00this entire issue in Second Timothy 17.
- 8:04It says God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power,
- 8:08love, and a sound mind. Fear does not come from God.
- 8:12Manipulation does not come from God.
- 8:15Confusion does not come from God.
- 8:18A sound mind, clarity, discernment, truth, That's what
- 8:22God gives. And that's exactly what
- 8:25governments and media try to take away when they rely on
- 8:29crisis narratives to control public behaviour.
- 8:33Because a fearful population is easy to manage, but a discerning
- 8:37population is impossible to manipulate.
- 8:43So when you see national addresses framed around fear,
- 8:46when you see governments warning about misinformation, when you
- 8:50see media amplifying crisis after crisis, when you see
- 8:55leadership that reacts instead of preparing, recognize the
- 9:01pattern. This is soft totalitarianism.
- 9:04This is the manufactured crisis machine.
- 9:08This is how modern societies are controlled, not by force, but by
- 9:14fear. And the only antidote is truth,
- 9:18courage, and a sound mind. As always, this is just my
- 9:23opinion. I'm Jay Fallon, and thanks for
- 9:26listening to the Slippery Slope Podcast.
- 9:30They just feel the decide they will take me higher.
- 9:34I'm on fire because nothing's going to bring me down.
- 9:38Nothing's going to bring me down and nothing's going to stop me
- 9:47now. And no one deals to be there and
- 9:49sound on the slow. Just stand on me and nothing's
- 9:59going to stop without me now. And nothing's going to hold me
- 10:03down. Got my eye on the eyes, got my
- 10:08style and teams don't say nothing's going to nothing's
- 10:23going to stop me. Nothing's going to stop me now.
