- 0:06Speaker 1: You guys are going to get a special treat today
- 0:07Speaker 1: because we're going to talk to one of the big
- 0:09Speaker 1: guys over at Uphold. That's the mister sim Michel's park one,
- 0:12Speaker 1: who's the CEO.
- 0:13Speaker 2: How are you great?
- 0:14Speaker 3: Nice to meet you.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Simon, give me a breakdown on where you guys
- 0:17Speaker 1: are going right now.
- 0:19Speaker 3: I think increasingly we're positioning ourselves as an infrastructure platform.
- 0:23Speaker 3: What's happened in the last six months is truly extraordinary.
- 0:26Speaker 3: We've seen governments finally wake up to the fact that
- 0:29Speaker 3: blockchain is a revolution in computer science and the discussion,
- 0:33Speaker 3: which has been very gratifying for us as a business.
- 0:36Speaker 3: What we're seeing is traditional finance companies, banks, payment companies,
- 0:42Speaker 3: hayroll firms are coming to us and saying, yeah, oh wow,
- 0:47Speaker 3: this isn't just a sandbox experiment. We need to plug
- 0:50Speaker 3: into this. So we're developing our own platform API so
- 0:54Speaker 3: you can plug in get to market in three to
- 0:56Speaker 3: six months. We've just gone live with a banking jerk
- 1:00Speaker 3: serving high net worth individuals and ig Index in the UK.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Big Broke platform has just gone live with us. Revolute
- 1:10Speaker 3: is about to use us for liquidity.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Okay, very yeah.
- 1:13Speaker 1: One of the largest neo banks in Europe, so that's
- 1:15Speaker 1: huge when you look at how uphold this position in
- 1:19Speaker 1: the market right now, what would you say are your
- 1:21Speaker 1: next biggest opportunities.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I think the tokenization of traditionally hard to reach asset
- 1:27Speaker 3: classes first, to look three to five years ahead, I
- 1:30Speaker 3: think the tokenization of something like private credit, which is
- 1:35Speaker 3: very interesting. Asset class hard to access, and the spirit
- 1:39Speaker 3: of blockchain is about opening up access to traditionally hard
- 1:44Speaker 3: to reach asset classes of making them tradeable. Twenty four
- 1:47Speaker 3: to seven. There are many more examples of that. What
- 1:50Speaker 3: needs to come for tokenization to take off is what
- 1:53Speaker 3: I would call the phase three of regulation. A lot
- 1:56Speaker 3: of the rags aren't in place yet to make that
- 1:58Speaker 3: a reality, but the technology benefits to opening up those
- 2:01Speaker 3: asset classes.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Well, I mean you had the chair, all right, the
- 2:06Speaker 4: acting chair, I guess hester Pierce talk about this today
- 2:11Speaker 4: or this week, and what we're seeing is a lot
- 2:13Speaker 4: more loosening on the SEC which will most likely give
- 2:16Speaker 4: guidance into some of the other organizations worldwide.
- 2:20Speaker 1: How quick do you think that will happen.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I think it'll I think what we've seen over the
- 2:25Speaker 3: past six months is how quickly the climate changes, and
- 2:31Speaker 3: who would have thought back in September last year that
- 2:34Speaker 3: you'd have had a US government now openly pro compared
- 2:39Speaker 3: with I mean, there were certain aspects of crypto activity
- 2:41Speaker 3: in the United States even last year you didn't even
- 2:43Speaker 3: if they were legal.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Crazy.
- 2:45Speaker 3: They're trying to plan for a business virtually impossible, and
- 2:48Speaker 3: so I think regulatory clarity sanctified the space. People realize
- 2:54Speaker 3: this is no longer an experimental sandbox. It's a vital
- 2:57Speaker 3: technology upgrade.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I think that's the thing when you look at these
- 3:01Speaker 1: transitions and technology now, what is a new finance architecture.
- 3:06Speaker 2: The opportunity is so massive, and the amount of companies
- 3:10Speaker 2: like Uphold and others that have really started to position well,
- 3:14Speaker 2: I think, for really some accelerated growth, this.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Could become a pretty big market for you guys very quickly.
- 3:20Speaker 1: So congrats on everything you're doing.
- 3:22Speaker 3: No, very very very excited about it. Thank you so
- 3:24Speaker 3: much for having me on.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Great Thank you Simon
