Transcript
- 0:01There are numerous activities we undertake in our lives.
- 0:04That engage us with more or less interest some, we treat as
- 0:10purely, mechanical some, we detest, but do them because we
- 0:15have to some illicit, very positive and focused interest in
- 0:20US. And we tend to like those
- 0:23activities are vital, nature creates an it's normal action, a
- 0:28response of liking or disliking and we then tend to be attracted
- 0:33to those things we like and repulsed by those.
- 0:37We do not In the practice of Karma, Yoga these vital
- 0:42reactions need to be resolved so that we can undertake any action
- 0:47called for with, at least a measure of equanimity and
- 0:52without the attraction, repulsion Force operative.
- 0:57There are several methods to achieve.
- 0:58This one is to actively cultivate the Equanimity
- 1:03throughout the being and trained ourselves to keep our minds
- 1:06quiet and our Vital energy. Focused on carrying out whatever
- 1:11the task, maybe another is to work on the separation of the
- 1:16witness Consciousness from the active outer nature.
- 1:20And thus not, let the desires and the avoidances of the vital,
- 1:25affect our deeper consciousness. Yet another is to find a way to
- 1:30accept, whatever action as a means of gaining deeper
- 1:34knowledge, about the nature and how to manage it.
- 1:39In other words, make, even the most mundane acts part of the
- 1:43psychological evaluation and yogic development process, and
- 1:49there is a method of focusing on each action as a sort of
- 1:53mindfulness or awareness exercise.
- 1:56And finding out how to enjoy each thing without impatience or
- 2:01disturbance. SRI aurobindo observes quote.
- 2:06It is not that you have to do what you dislike but that you
- 2:10have to cease to dislike to do, only what you'd like is to
- 2:15indulge the vital and maintain its domination over the nature.
- 2:21For that is the very principle of the un-- transform nature to
- 2:25be governed by its likes and dislikes to be able to do
- 2:29anything with Equanimity is the principle of Karma Yoga. it
- 2:35depends on a certain extension and intensifying of the
- 2:38Consciousness by which all activity becomes, interesting,
- 2:43not for itself, but because of the Consciousness put into it
- 2:48and through the intensity of the energy, there is a pleasure in
- 2:53the exercise of the energy and in the perfect doing of the
- 2:57work, whatever the work maybe In quote, reference SRI, aurobindo
