- 0:32Speaker 2: If anyone texts me they better watch out, they'll there'll
- 0:35Speaker 2: be trouble. Do not distract me even if you see
- 0:38Speaker 2: me on Twitter, and hopefully it'll it'll go the way
- 0:40Speaker 2: we want. There's definitely lots to be excited about. Look,
- 0:44Speaker 2: we have it, we have a great roster. It's gonna
- 0:45Speaker 2: be a great game against the Falcons. And look, after
- 0:49Speaker 2: getting a little bit of a taste of football with
- 0:51Speaker 2: college football last weekend, I'm ready for I'm ready for
- 0:55Speaker 2: the real stuff. I'm ready for NFL. So bring it
- 0:57Speaker 2: on and bring on the Steeters.
- 1:00Speaker 1: That would good to seem Man. As Jimmy says, Cojay,
- 1:03Speaker 1: I'll go to our best Steelers football back on Sunday
- 1:06Speaker 1: as the Forum.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Yeah, not too bad, Michael. It seems like it was
- 1:11Speaker 3: a lifetime ago that we did our first podcast this season,
- 1:14Speaker 3: but we're finally here. We're in September, best part of
- 1:18Speaker 3: the year.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Week one.
- 1:19Speaker 3: We've got how many weeks of football ahead of us
- 1:21Speaker 3: in a row? Hopefully if the Steelers case, it will
- 1:24Speaker 3: be twenty twenty one, something wakes or something, hopefully until
- 1:28Speaker 3: here to the super Bowl. But I'm the same as Jimmy.
- 1:30Speaker 3: I'll be watching on six o'clock on Sunday and you
- 1:32Speaker 3: won't be able to move me. There'll be a ice,
- 1:34Speaker 3: will be glued to the TV. So hopefully we'll come
- 1:37Speaker 3: out well when we'll get the previewed here in a bit.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Looking forward to I'll definitely not message the WhatsApp group
- 1:42Speaker 1: of six o'clock on Sunday then, lads for people listening,
- 1:45Speaker 1: there's a number of options to listen to this scheme
- 1:48Speaker 1: or watch this game on Sunday. The game is on
- 1:51Speaker 1: Sky Sports NFL, so it's the main primetime first game
- 1:54Speaker 1: that we see this season on the channel on the Sunday,
- 1:56Speaker 1: and it's also if you do live outside of you
- 2:00Speaker 1: in Ireland, it's on NFL Game Pass, but it is
- 2:02Speaker 1: on Sky Sports. It's blacked out, so that's where it
- 2:04Speaker 1: is this weekend. It's also you're also able to listen
- 2:07Speaker 1: to it on ot Beat Sports Radio. Really excited for
- 2:11Speaker 1: this game. I mean, just firstly, Jimmy, before we sort
- 2:14Speaker 1: of break it down and look ahead to it, we
- 2:17Speaker 1: heard some really exciting news last week that the Steelers
- 2:20Speaker 1: are coming back for Week four of the season against
- 2:23Speaker 1: the Colts. There's a watch party at a Croup Park
- 2:25Speaker 1: in Dublin, and before we even got a chance to
- 2:28Speaker 1: record again, it's sold out. I mean, first off, like
- 2:31Speaker 1: that really speaks Jimmy to the demand for events of
- 2:35Speaker 1: this kind on the island of Ireland. But also I
- 2:37Speaker 1: think it shows the amount of Steelers fans in Ireland,
- 2:40Speaker 1: which we've seen guys like yourself and Tom and the
- 2:42Speaker 1: lads taking Steelers world Wide Photo Day on Sunday.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I think after the success of last year, Michael,
- 2:50Speaker 2: I think it was just such a successful evening. Everyone
- 2:53Speaker 2: who was there, be they Steelers fans or not, had
- 2:55Speaker 2: an absolute blast. It was an amazing atmosphere and I
- 2:59Speaker 2: think this year is going to be even bigger, even better.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Like you say, it's so that in less than twenty
- 3:04Speaker 2: four hours, which which just speaks to the level of
- 3:07Speaker 2: not only Steelers fandom in Ireland but also NFL general
- 3:10Speaker 2: NFL fandom. And it was such a fantastic community environment
- 3:15Speaker 2: and community atmosphere last year, I mean, everyone that was
- 3:17Speaker 2: there for their for a common goal of watching football together.
- 3:21Speaker 2: So very very excited for this year's event in less
- 3:26Speaker 2: than lesson about three weeks time, less less than a
- 3:28Speaker 2: month's time, and it's earlier this year. Last year's was November,
- 3:32Speaker 2: this year was in September, so we don't have that
- 3:35Speaker 2: long to wait. I'm also very interested and excited to
- 3:39Speaker 2: see who the Steelers bring over alumni wise. That's going
- 3:43Speaker 2: to be interesting to watch. Two great guys last year,
- 3:46Speaker 2: Alan Fanica and Santonio Holmes. So I'm looking forward to
- 3:50Speaker 2: meeting more Steeers legends this year, hopefully including Steele McBean.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Of course, we can't forget the mask that year, essential
- 3:58Speaker 2: to our enjoyment of last year's event as well.
- 4:01Speaker 1: It was really good crack last year and you sort
- 4:03Speaker 1: of hit the head and then hit the nail on
- 4:05Speaker 1: the head there. Jimmy like having the mascot there as well.
- 4:07Speaker 1: There was no expense spared, and it's not like you
- 4:09Speaker 1: were in Pittsburgh and I know you guys are going
- 4:11Speaker 1: to go out four weeks or so after that game,
- 4:14Speaker 1: and that obviously it's it's a great time to have
- 4:18Speaker 1: the Steelers over here in any capacity, but to see
- 4:20Speaker 1: themsel I Crow part two years in the row for
- 4:23Speaker 1: an event like that's pretty cool.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Yeah, we've spoken at it on Death Michael about it
- 4:28Speaker 3: for a while, just how local you are, not just
- 4:29Speaker 3: to be involved in this project, but getting a second
- 4:32Speaker 3: watch party it shows that the demand is there. It's massive,
- 4:35Speaker 3: you know, not to mention it's so like as near
- 4:37Speaker 3: enough as quick as it did last year, and again
- 4:40Speaker 3: it just reiterates, you know, there is a massive buzz
- 4:42Speaker 3: for the sport in Ireland. You know, we've seen the
- 4:44Speaker 3: effect of the college game had a couple of weeks ago.
- 4:46Speaker 3: You yourself, you've you've made an honorable mansion on the
- 4:49Speaker 3: pop McAfee SiO after that. And so this watch party
- 4:52Speaker 3: is just another opportunity for not only Steelers fans, but
- 4:55Speaker 3: you know, the sport of American football to get us
- 4:57Speaker 3: foot in the door and hopefully, who knows, will hopefully
- 5:00Speaker 3: to a game here in the near future. You know,
- 5:02Speaker 3: mister Rooney did obviously mentionin it on the broadcast Get
- 5:04Speaker 3: the Taxans. We know the strong links to Rooney family
- 5:07Speaker 3: has been found, so that's hoping to watch party's just
- 5:09Speaker 3: another nudge and not right their action and what a
- 5:11Speaker 3: night it should be, you know, hopefully on this occasion
- 5:13Speaker 3: we come out with a win. Course maybe that will
- 5:15Speaker 3: make it a bit easier, you know, leaving the place.
- 5:17Speaker 3: But regardless, you know, it's just another great opportunity to
- 5:21Speaker 3: get to watch Dealers and crow Park.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Yeah, obviously a very very exciting time to hear mister
- 5:26Speaker 1: Rooney's comments about both Mexico and Ireland. Who knows what's
- 5:29Speaker 1: going to happen over the next few years, but great
- 5:31Speaker 1: to have a party to look forward to in a
- 5:33Speaker 1: few weeks and we will see you there, please God,
- 5:36Speaker 1: in a few weeks before we look at this game
- 5:39Speaker 1: against the Falcons. Hard to believe week one of the
- 5:40Speaker 1: seasons this weekend, Jimmy, I don't want to put you
- 5:42Speaker 1: on the spot, but and our historic pre season for
- 5:47Speaker 1: an Irish fan to an extent, all these games on
- 5:49Speaker 1: Virgin Media among different outlets. Is there anything that you
- 5:54Speaker 1: sort of see from the preseason that you know that
- 5:56Speaker 1: you've enjoyed. Like for me, it was really to see
- 5:58Speaker 1: the sort of depth of talent that this team has
- 6:02Speaker 1: and definitely wasn't an easy decision cutting the down to
- 6:05Speaker 1: fifty three, that's for sure.
- 6:06Speaker 2: We have a very young team, which I think bodes
- 6:09Speaker 2: well for the future, and you look at our we
- 6:12Speaker 2: address a lot of the key areas that were, you know, lacking.
- 6:15Speaker 2: We we we've seen some promise from our young offensive
- 6:17Speaker 2: linemen that we drafted over the past couple of years.
- 6:20Speaker 2: We we reinforced our inside in our inside linebacking corps,
- 6:23Speaker 2: which is very I think a massive weakness of ours
- 6:26Speaker 2: last season in terms of stopping the run. So I
- 6:29Speaker 2: think that's going to be massively beneficial to us this
- 6:31Speaker 2: year and should help that help help our defense take
- 6:35Speaker 2: the next step to regaining their elite status. I think
- 6:40Speaker 2: just overall, just seeing you know, the the future for
- 6:43Speaker 2: the Steelers is very, very bright, I think, and there's
- 6:45Speaker 2: lots of promise ahead. So you know, you always try
- 6:48Speaker 2: and look at the positives, always trying and take positive
- 6:50Speaker 2: positives away from everything, and so those will be the
- 6:53Speaker 2: areas that kind of stand out for me.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Obviously, a really interesting preseason, a lot of transition in
- 6:59Speaker 1: different positions. Did you enjoy it? Is there anything that
- 7:03Speaker 1: you took away from it?
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah, it's difficult to say, really, Michael, just to back
- 7:08Speaker 3: up with Jimmy just said, you know, results wise, we
- 7:10Speaker 3: finished doing three, but you know who else finished doing three?
- 7:13Speaker 3: The kanasas city chiefs. Like I said, what a face
- 7:15Speaker 3: like a thousand times on this podcast, the preseason is
- 7:18Speaker 3: simply about getting guys back into the groove of things
- 7:21Speaker 3: after long layoff and betting the new guys into the system.
- 7:24Speaker 3: I believe, you know, we finished the preseason three and
- 7:26Speaker 3: o last season, and it's clear that that didn't mean
- 7:28Speaker 3: anything either. So I suppose we just have to keep
- 7:30Speaker 3: that same energy, and I suppose we're not really gonna
- 7:33Speaker 3: know what we're like until about week four or five.
- 7:35Speaker 3: You know, we've picked up a few injuries on the
- 7:37Speaker 3: offensive line. You know, it looks like niit Her big
- 7:39Speaker 3: fantasy could be out of the season, Torn Rootiercuff, Isaac
- 7:42Speaker 3: c Maali. You know, he picked up an injury against
- 7:44Speaker 3: the Lands in the final preseason game. So there is
- 7:46Speaker 3: definitely room for concern there. But as of time and recording,
- 7:49Speaker 3: we haven't seen that injury report. Let's just hope it's
- 7:52Speaker 3: it's less thing thumb we inspect. But overall, you know,
- 7:55Speaker 3: we look relatively healthy going into the season. I'm very
- 7:57Speaker 3: happy after talking with Nick Herbig last week, you know,
- 8:00Speaker 3: he shares our optivism for the season. He highlighted on
- 8:02Speaker 3: numerous occasions that this group isn't around just to make
- 8:05Speaker 3: up the numbers. We have our site setting another Lombardi Trophy,
- 8:08Speaker 3: So let's just hope that's where we're after the end
- 8:10Speaker 3: of the season. And then yeah, I just I just
- 8:12Speaker 3: can't wait into the preseason. It was good to watch
- 8:15Speaker 3: Steelers football, but to actually Washington and competitive Satin's completely different.
- 8:18Speaker 3: So I'm just ready for Wake one at this rate.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Megal, I think the first the first you know, quarter
- 8:25Speaker 2: and a half of this the Falcons game. I think,
- 8:27Speaker 2: I know we'll preview in a few minutes. I think
- 8:29Speaker 2: it's going to be extremely cagey. I think it's going
- 8:32Speaker 2: to be it's going to think a while to get
- 8:34Speaker 2: settled in. And I know I'm personally not a particularly
- 8:38Speaker 2: patient person when it comes to the Steelers, but I
- 8:40Speaker 2: think this year we're going to have to be patient
- 8:42Speaker 2: with the offense at least and until you know, Russell
- 8:46Speaker 2: Wilson has time to kind of properly bed down with
- 8:49Speaker 2: his receivers and you know that new defense to something
- 8:51Speaker 2: to some new pieces there as well. But like, let's
- 8:54Speaker 2: just go and let our let Nick herbig loose on
- 8:58Speaker 2: Sunday and see what happened.
- 9:01Speaker 1: I really enjoyed that podcast last week. I know Jimmy
- 9:05Speaker 1: weren't able to make it an apologies for that, and
- 9:08Speaker 1: I agree just his his energy and sort of the
- 9:11Speaker 1: look ahead to the season. And he even stopped for
- 9:13Speaker 1: another five ten minutes software and was chopping, and I
- 9:15Speaker 1: think that speaks a lot to them on that he
- 9:16Speaker 1: is and so's it's exciting. I share the optimism and
- 9:21Speaker 1: I'm the same. Like obviously it's hard to have patients
- 9:24Speaker 1: when you want things to happen, and I think all
- 9:26Speaker 1: of us just want to enjoy the season and ticket
- 9:27Speaker 1: bit by bit, even though it's going to fly in.
- 9:30Speaker 1: And as we get ahead and look ahead the week one,
- 9:32Speaker 1: the game against the Falcons, which is at six o'clock
- 9:34Speaker 1: i s. T PM this Sunday, let's hear from coach
- 9:38Speaker 1: Tomlin before we break down the game.
- 9:41Speaker 4: First, I'll start with some of our business regarding player
- 9:45Speaker 4: availability as it can be described as out this week,
- 9:49Speaker 4: but we did get good news regarding his peck. Injury
- 9:54Speaker 4: will characterize us this week to week and we'll see
- 9:56Speaker 4: where next week leads us, but really optimistic about his
- 10:00Speaker 4: return sooner rather than later. We've had a couple of
- 10:03Speaker 4: guys working in a parcel capacity yesterday in our bonus day,
- 10:07Speaker 4: and we expect that to continue and increase as we
- 10:10Speaker 4: push toward game time.
- 10:12Speaker 1: UH.
- 10:12Speaker 4: Those guys are Roman Wilson UH and Troy Ftano, and
- 10:18Speaker 4: we're optimistic about both guys. Jalen Warren can also be
- 10:21Speaker 4: included in that discussion along with Corey Trice. We had
- 10:25Speaker 4: some guys dealing with some short, short term misery regarding injury.
- 10:30Speaker 4: But those guys that I mentioned appear to be turning
- 10:33Speaker 4: the corner and moving toward availability. But we'll watch as
- 10:37Speaker 4: we go through the week make sure we don't get
- 10:39Speaker 4: any negative trends, but not only from a health standpoint.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Some of these guys don't have extended resumes, and so
- 10:45Speaker 4: we'll be watching the quality their play as well as
- 10:49Speaker 4: we re engage them UH in this ready and process.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Let's talk Atlanta here briefly. You know they got a
- 10:57Speaker 4: new staff, and that creates some challenges, particularly in Week one.
- 11:02Speaker 4: Got intimate knowledge regarding their staff. Obviously got a close
- 11:04Speaker 4: relationship with Raheem Morris. I've known Jimmy Lake, their defensive
- 11:09Speaker 4: coordinator for probably twenty years. I know Zach Robinson as well.
- 11:14Speaker 4: I got a lot of respect for those guys. But
- 11:16Speaker 4: Week one present some challenges in terms of forecasting what
- 11:20Speaker 4: their personalities might be in all three phases. They didn't
- 11:25Speaker 4: play a lot of their starters in the preseason, and obviously,
- 11:27Speaker 4: even from a schematic standpoint, you get limited exposure to
- 11:31Speaker 4: what people's intentions are regarding the preseason and what it
- 11:36Speaker 4: is that they do. But we know the schools of
- 11:39Speaker 4: thought that these guys come from, and so we've been
- 11:41Speaker 4: preparing with that understanding. Obviously, I worked with Raheem Morris
- 11:45Speaker 4: and he's made his bones on the defensive side of
- 11:48Speaker 4: the ball. He was in LA last year along with
- 11:50Speaker 4: Jimmy Lake. We played those guys with the Rams, and
- 11:53Speaker 4: so we have that as a point of reference. But
- 11:56Speaker 4: one thing I know about coach Morris in company that
- 12:00Speaker 4: you know he's gonna utilize the talents of the people
- 12:02Speaker 4: at his disposal. And so some of the things that
- 12:04Speaker 4: they did in LA will be similar to what they
- 12:07Speaker 4: do in Atlanta. Some of the things will be different,
- 12:10Speaker 4: largely based on people and putting them in position to
- 12:14Speaker 4: play well. But we got some challenges from that perspective
- 12:19Speaker 4: on the other side of the ball, same thing Zach
- 12:22Speaker 4: was in LA last year. We played those guys. He's
- 12:24Speaker 4: worked alongside Sean McVay for a number of years, and
- 12:27Speaker 4: you understand the challenges that come with that, their utilization
- 12:30Speaker 4: of personnel, their utilization of pace in a variety of
- 12:34Speaker 4: ways situationally, feel locations, etc. You know, the awesome job
- 12:40Speaker 4: that they do in terms of marrying the run game
- 12:43Speaker 4: along with run action and misdirections and screens and so forth,
- 12:46Speaker 4: and non situational moments. I expect them to kind of
- 12:51Speaker 4: do and reflect some of those things, but also I'm
- 12:54Speaker 4: excited to maybe see what, you know, what personal touches
- 12:58Speaker 4: he brings to it. There was some evidence of that
- 13:01Speaker 4: in the preseason, but not a lot. As I mentioned again,
- 13:05Speaker 4: you work some high volume things generally in the preseason,
- 13:08Speaker 4: some things you hold back, and so you know, we
- 13:10Speaker 4: got to be really really good fundamentally in this game,
- 13:13Speaker 4: Like a lot of teams do in Week one.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Coach Tomlin on the Irish Theaters podcast. I had a
- 13:20Speaker 1: Week one for the Pittsburgh Steeters in twenty twenty four,
- 13:22Speaker 1: as the NFL season gets underway. On it with a
- 13:25Speaker 1: trip to Mercedes Bands Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, a difficult
- 13:30Speaker 1: matchup against the Falcons, team that have re energized with
- 13:32Speaker 1: a new head coach and new quarterback, a couple of
- 13:34Speaker 1: new quarterbacks, and a really interesting season for the Falcons.
- 13:39Speaker 1: And we'll talk about the Falcons in a little minute. Jimmy,
- 13:41Speaker 1: we've seen since we lost spoke Russell Wilson not only
- 13:43Speaker 1: named certain quarterback but also also named the team captain.
- 13:47Speaker 1: We heard Nick Herbig who was very positive about him
- 13:51Speaker 1: last week, and anybody has been very positive about the
- 13:54Speaker 1: change in the offense and sort of the steps are
- 13:56Speaker 1: taking the season with both Russ and Justin FIELDZ and
- 13:59Speaker 1: I want to wish both the guys are very very best.
- 14:02Speaker 1: What do you want to see from this game and Sunday.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Obviously we all want to win, but for me, it's
- 14:06Speaker 1: running the ball effectively, using as many guys as you
- 14:08Speaker 1: can effectively, especially on third down. But I'd like to
- 14:11Speaker 1: see Russell Wilson, I certainly expect it's regular season football,
- 14:16Speaker 1: but I wouldn't be surprised if we do see not
- 14:18Speaker 1: rustiness or nerves, but it might take a bit of
- 14:21Speaker 1: time for the team to gel. I'd say if it
- 14:23Speaker 1: does take a bit of time for the team the
- 14:24Speaker 1: gael you need that you sort of need a defense
- 14:26Speaker 1: to step up on the on the day. And for
- 14:29Speaker 1: a Falcons team as well, I mean they're going for
- 14:30Speaker 1: the same situation as well, which we'll talk about in
- 14:32Speaker 1: the second. But surely you know you got to set
- 14:34Speaker 1: the Sanders high week one of the season. It's a
- 14:36Speaker 1: really big opportunity. Arthur Smith going back into Atlanta, got
- 14:40Speaker 1: to get the w month.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Well, like you say, Nick, I think the biggest thing
- 14:44Speaker 2: for me is to see how well Russell Wilison can
- 14:46Speaker 2: actually connect with the receivers in real life game situations.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Preseason is one thing. This is like this, this is
- 14:54Speaker 2: where it counts now, and I think he's going to
- 14:56Speaker 2: have to rely heavily, particularly on George Pickens being the
- 15:00Speaker 2: number one, the number one wide receiver. It's vital that
- 15:04Speaker 2: he establishes a good relationship with him early on, finds
- 15:07Speaker 2: that kind of a passing rhythm, but also that he's
- 15:10Speaker 2: not afraid to lean on the run when he needs
- 15:12Speaker 2: And I think that's another area that we want to
- 15:14Speaker 2: kind of see get established early on, is that new
- 15:17Speaker 2: look offensive line holding their blocks for analogy to run
- 15:21Speaker 2: through and making gaps for Nalgy and indeed general Warren
- 15:24Speaker 2: if he is healthy and active. There's a couple of
- 15:27Speaker 2: you know, kind of key factors there that we that
- 15:29Speaker 2: we all want to see develop earlier on. And I
- 15:32Speaker 2: think on the defensive side of the ball, I think
- 15:35Speaker 2: the Falcons are going to lean heavily on on b
- 15:38Speaker 2: John Robinson given the fact that they have a new
- 15:40Speaker 2: quarterback as well, and Kirk Cousins, I think it might
- 15:43Speaker 2: he might be in a similar situation where he might
- 15:46Speaker 2: struggle to find rhythm earlier on. So it'll be important
- 15:50Speaker 2: that our our inside linebackers particularly are able to recognize
- 15:54Speaker 2: that and take away take away the run, and enforce
- 15:57Speaker 2: Kirk offf balance and fortunate to right relying more in
- 15:59Speaker 2: the past, and think we'll have opportunities there to disrupt him.
- 16:03Speaker 2: So it's going to be very cagey early on. I
- 16:05Speaker 2: think in this game it's gonna be very kind of
- 16:07Speaker 2: back and forth. I don't think we're going to see
- 16:08Speaker 2: a lot of points in the board until maybe towards
- 16:11Speaker 2: the end of the first half, kind of into the
- 16:13Speaker 2: second half. But it's gonna definitely be a very interesting matchup.
- 16:18Speaker 1: If it takes time for the offense got going. Look,
- 16:21Speaker 1: I hope that we get going for the first nap,
- 16:23Speaker 1: Like we have to accept that we have a new quarterback,
- 16:25Speaker 1: a different situation there. If it does take time. We've
- 16:27Speaker 1: seen that TJ. Watts had some fantastic news this week.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I want to sound them the very very best from
- 16:32Speaker 1: this podcast, and you expect guys like TJ. Watts to
- 16:35Speaker 1: really stand up on the defense and be counted in Sunday.
- 16:38Speaker 1: And it's great to see Patrick Queen there as well.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I'm really excited to see both sides of the ball.
- 16:42Speaker 1: And I sort of just scoring on what Jimmy said,
- 16:46Speaker 1: I presume and think it'll be close in terms of
- 16:49Speaker 1: in terms of loose scoring, but I can see a
- 16:52Speaker 1: game as well where I'm not saying it's going to
- 16:53Speaker 1: be a shootout, but I can see points being scored
- 16:55Speaker 1: in this game, even if it is early.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's easily. It's easily say it like you
- 17:00Speaker 3: can easily see that happening. Of course, Arthur Smith going
- 17:03Speaker 3: into the building where he was fired last year, he's
- 17:06Speaker 3: gonna want to have an impressive performance. Just sort of
- 17:08Speaker 3: stick it to the Falcons, you know. Week once always
- 17:10Speaker 3: a difficult game to preview, Michael, because we simply just
- 17:13Speaker 3: don't know what any team is going to look like.
- 17:15Speaker 3: You know, the Falcons also finished the preseason zing three.
- 17:19Speaker 3: I've just read as well they've only written won one
- 17:21Speaker 3: of their last sex Up winners, so that's definitely encouraging
- 17:23Speaker 3: reading if you are staters on they. How however, you
- 17:26Speaker 3: know they have got a few nice offensive weapons you
- 17:28Speaker 3: like to be John Robinson, Kyle Pets, Drake London, you know, etc.
- 17:32Speaker 3: But just looking on the defensive side of the ball,
- 17:34Speaker 3: there really isn't must shout about, you know, the acquired
- 17:36Speaker 3: I think it was Mafia Judon from New England who's
- 17:38Speaker 3: a high level pos rusher. But other than that, there's
- 17:41Speaker 3: there's definitely gonna be holds with King kapalais on. Raheem Morris,
- 17:44Speaker 3: of course, a rookie head coach from the mcbeck McVeigh
- 17:47Speaker 3: coaching three leans heavily towards the defensive side of the ball.
- 17:50Speaker 3: We know the story about mc tomlin and rookie coaches,
- 17:52Speaker 3: he does tend to have their number. And on Saturday
- 17:55Speaker 3: with Kirk Cousins, how fit is he after the Achilles
- 17:57Speaker 3: injury and how's he going to adapt to that noose around?
- 18:00Speaker 3: So all these factors would maybe point towards the Steelers win.
- 18:04Speaker 3: I did give this win a back this this game
- 18:06Speaker 3: will win back in our preseason schedule in Balfast if
- 18:10Speaker 3: you remember, and I'm gonna stick with it. So I'm
- 18:13Speaker 3: gonna go I'm gonna just jump in ahead with a
- 18:15Speaker 3: with a preseason pregame prediction. Russell Wilson's gonna come out
- 18:19Speaker 3: his competitive debut with the Steelers, shut all the doubtors up.
- 18:21Speaker 3: He's gonna throw for three hundred yards and touchdown. George
- 18:24Speaker 3: Pickens is going to contribute to that with a one
- 18:26Speaker 3: hundred yard seeding game, and the Steelers are gonna win
- 18:28Speaker 3: twenty four to twenty. I want to know heading into
- 18:30Speaker 3: Danver next week for that massive return game for us.
- 18:34Speaker 3: So yeah, bring that one to the back. That's my prediction.
- 18:36Speaker 3: So maybe not as high score as as you predict,
- 18:39Speaker 3: Maybe not was low scoring, just maybe in the middle
- 18:41Speaker 3: of the pack. But it's gonna be a good game
- 18:42Speaker 3: and I predict a win.
- 18:43Speaker 2: And I think about it's interesting that the Steelers came
- 18:47Speaker 2: out and named Russell Wilson as a as a captain,
- 18:51Speaker 2: and I think that says a lot about the fate
- 18:53Speaker 2: they have him in him as their starting quarterback, yeah,
- 18:56Speaker 2: and that they're putting their trust in him to lead
- 18:59Speaker 2: a team this season. So I think that will silence,
- 19:02Speaker 2: hopefully a lot of doubters, and I think it was
- 19:05Speaker 2: a bit of it. It was an important statement to
- 19:07Speaker 2: make by the team. He's our starting quarterback, he's our
- 19:09Speaker 2: offensive captain, he's our leader. It's also interesting to note
- 19:13Speaker 2: as well, Dave, you mentioned some of the defensive pickups
- 19:16Speaker 2: that the Falcons made. They also signed Justin Simmons as
- 19:20Speaker 2: a safety, is starting safety, so we have to be
- 19:22Speaker 2: aware of him, and I think he's going to be
- 19:25Speaker 2: prowling in that defensive backfield player as well. Jimmy just
- 19:29Speaker 2: just waiting to waiting to ruin Russell's knight. So that's
- 19:33Speaker 2: just something else to be conscious of that. While you know,
- 19:36Speaker 2: I wouldn't be too worried about the Falcons overall, I'm
- 19:40Speaker 2: not going to sleep on them and like it's going
- 19:42Speaker 2: to be it's going to be a chess match all night.
- 19:45Speaker 2: I think, I agree.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I think it'll be like a chess match, but it'll
- 19:49Speaker 1: be end to end. And I think defensively again, like
- 19:52Speaker 1: in so many games last year, where you need the
- 19:54Speaker 1: defense to stand up, be counted and to limit the
- 19:57Speaker 1: opposing team to certain levels of points. I can see TJ.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Will having a huge game in this week one encounter.
- 20:04Speaker 1: And I think Russell Wilson I sort of going what
- 20:07Speaker 1: you said, Jimmy about being name of the team captain.
- 20:09Speaker 1: It shows you that you know, he's had a rough
- 20:12Speaker 1: couple of years in Colorado to come over to Pittsburgh.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Now you can see that he's re energizing. Look, look,
- 20:18Speaker 1: it might take a couple of weeks. This is an
- 20:20Speaker 1: eighteen game season. It could take two or three to
- 20:23Speaker 1: four weeks until you gel we've seen teams go all
- 20:26Speaker 1: the way or get to the big dance before where
- 20:28Speaker 1: they've had to our starts. The Chiefs a few years
- 20:30Speaker 1: ago would be one real example there. It could take
- 20:33Speaker 1: Russ a few weeks, but you sort of feel like
- 20:35Speaker 1: that might not be the case. Obviously, a big Week
- 20:38Speaker 1: two game as well against Denver in that return, Denver
- 20:42Speaker 1: have got a really difficult game to start the season.
- 20:44Speaker 1: So every game here is huge and I think you
- 20:47Speaker 1: have to expect and I want to see and I'm
- 20:50Speaker 1: going to make the pick up the Staders winning this
- 20:52Speaker 1: game a tight one seventeen to fourteen on Sunday. Do
- 20:56Speaker 1: you want to give a score prediction, Jimmy or.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna go twenty one twenty one twenty one
- 21:04Speaker 2: fourteen Steelers. I think, I mean, I think there. I
- 21:06Speaker 2: think the Falcons will score points in US. I think
- 21:08Speaker 2: that's that is just it's it's gonna happen. You know,
- 21:12Speaker 2: Kirk Cousins is with is with a new team, but
- 21:14Speaker 2: like he's still one of the higher up quarterbacks in
- 21:17Speaker 2: the league. He does have weapons, and I I'm going
- 21:21Speaker 2: to back my Staters to come out. I have I
- 21:24Speaker 2: do have faith. I need to remind myself of that sometimes.
- 21:27Speaker 2: So I do have faith in the Steelers. I do
- 21:29Speaker 2: have faith in Mike Thommlin. And look that's I'm just
- 21:32Speaker 2: buzzing for. You know, football is back. It's September. We've
- 21:35Speaker 2: been waiting, waiting a year for this moment and it's
- 21:38Speaker 2: finally here. I will pinch myself on Sunday when I
- 21:40Speaker 2: walk in to the sitting room, stick on the steels
- 21:43Speaker 2: and don't move for five or six hours. And I'm
- 21:46Speaker 2: sure there's plenty of NFL fans in Ireland who are
- 21:48Speaker 2: feeling the same way as I am right now. So
- 21:51Speaker 2: looking bringing on, Bring on Steeters football.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Second year in a row that the Steelers are making
- 21:57Speaker 1: their Week one debut in the early window. Was the
- 22:00Speaker 1: first game on Sky Sports this week, which is really
- 22:02Speaker 1: cool to see them focused for many different fans and
- 22:06Speaker 1: for new fans as well as the sports. So looking
- 22:08Speaker 1: forward to the game against the Falcons. We will be
- 22:10Speaker 1: back after the game against the Falgus at some point
- 22:13Speaker 1: early and where we'll break down hopefully one of the
- 22:15Speaker 1: Staelers win. And here from coach Tumlin among our players
- 22:18Speaker 1: as well, it's a big game this weekend. Wishing our
- 22:21Speaker 1: very very best from all of us loads to the
- 22:23Speaker 1: entire team, the entire franchise organization ahead of what promises
- 22:27Speaker 1: to be a very busy but hopefully a very fulfilling seasons.
